- 0:00Speaker 1: There he is very is how's it going everybody?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Now? Look, Dan and Joelle have both changed up their backgrounds,
- 0:09Speaker 2: and you appear to have a dress case you might
- 0:11Speaker 2: wear today hanging.
- 0:13Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, what's that dress for you?
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's not for me? First of all, hold on, how
- 0:21Speaker 1: are you?
- 0:22Speaker 2: I miss you?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Now?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Well you don't because you started off with some type
- 0:26Speaker 1: of rude shit.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You know what was rude about saying, is Casey gonna
- 0:30Speaker 2: wear that dress that's hanging?
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's a very When I said she wasn't gonna wear
- 0:33Speaker 1: that today, you automatically asked if it was for me?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Right now? I am one who doesn't mind dress is
- 0:44Speaker 1: hanging in the background. You, however, seem to have a
- 0:47Speaker 1: phobia of it.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I think my point was in the spirit your dress
- 0:50Speaker 2: a phobia, in the spirit of everyone changing their backgrounds.
- 0:55Speaker 2: All three of you have a new background, and you
- 0:59Speaker 2: do not know you're not drinking coffee.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I've turned over a new leaf. I don't know if
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know this, but.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It's time for another leaf. What leaf did you turn
- 1:08Speaker 2: over this morning?
- 1:09Speaker 1: I've turned forty six? Yes, Donald, thank you, everyone, thank you.
- 1:15Speaker 2: This will get bearing late. Everyone, but Donald's birthday was
- 1:18Speaker 2: the twenty second.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yes, and I turned forty six years old. And I
- 1:22Speaker 1: want to thank everybody for all the love that you've
- 1:25Speaker 1: given me. And I want to say to all my
- 1:28Speaker 1: fans out there that listen to the podcast and all
- 1:31Speaker 1: of Zach's fans that listen to the podcast, it's working.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Come join the dark side. Oh yeah, combine strength, we
- 1:40Speaker 1: can rule this galaxy.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I saw a lot of talk on my Instagram about
- 1:46Speaker 2: how everyone needs to follow Donald and some girl wrote
- 1:49Speaker 2: you need to help Donald get more followers because he
- 1:52Speaker 2: quote caught feelings or something like that. I thought that
- 1:55Speaker 2: was a funny question. Did you catch feelings?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Who doesn't catch? I always catch, always catch feelings?
- 2:01Speaker 2: You got feeling about it? By the way, your wife
- 2:03Speaker 2: slid into my DMS today because she was not happy
- 2:06Speaker 2: with the picture I posted a view. It's an old picture,
- 2:11Speaker 2: by the way, obviously, because we're lying on a chaise
- 2:13Speaker 2: lounge together and it's we're in quarantine. But Donald was
- 2:17Speaker 2: during one of his heavier periods and his wife slid
- 2:21Speaker 2: into my DMS to be like, why are you posting
- 2:24Speaker 2: that picture of top?
- 2:25Speaker 1: She said? She said to me, she said, did you
- 2:26Speaker 1: see the picture of Zach posted I was like, yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 1: She was like, he couldn't crop anything.
- 2:31Speaker 2: That's what she said. She said, you couldn't get a
- 2:34Speaker 2: friend he could out and do some cropping.
- 2:37Speaker 1: He couldn't have cropped that. I was like, crap. What
- 2:42Speaker 1: she was like, your belly?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Oh shit, well, I didn't know. I love you so much.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I didn't notice that you were in that picture having
- 2:49Speaker 2: a large belly. Time.
- 2:50Speaker 1: He looked very handsome and thank you very much. Wife.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Your wife was like crop that ship?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yeah right? And and and you know, I I think
- 3:00Speaker 1: everyone out there deserves someone like I have. I have
- 3:04Speaker 1: a wonderful woman who uh is very supportive and takes
- 3:09Speaker 1: care of situations that I might be a little bit
- 3:13Speaker 1: uh you know, apprehensive to no, no, no, yeah, you know.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Instead of me being like, well why did Zach post
- 3:21Speaker 1: that and get upset at Zach, I'll stay away from
- 3:24Speaker 1: the confrontation and the conflict. Whereas my wife's like, no, no, no,
- 3:28Speaker 1: we ain't letting that shit slide. What's what's what's Zach's number?
- 3:32Speaker 1: And she will call you on. She's like the mom.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I know some people that are very gifted at photoshop.
- 3:37Speaker 2: If you want, I could, I could take off some
- 3:39Speaker 2: pounds from that picture for you.
- 3:40Speaker 1: No, no, no, I like, I mean, I think all
- 3:43Speaker 1: of me is beautiful.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I can extra, I could paint in abs.
- 3:47Speaker 1: No no, no, I think I think all Like I said,
- 3:49Speaker 1: all of me is beautiful, even the extra. Just ask
- 3:53Speaker 1: my wife.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You know, it's funny that we're starting off a little
- 3:57Speaker 2: bit confrontational because in this episode, do you remember what happened?
- 4:02Speaker 2: We got in a fight. We got in probably our
- 4:04Speaker 2: first fight.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I don't remember when.
- 4:07Speaker 2: This was during the lasso thing in the ICU fantasy
- 4:12Speaker 2: because I was pulling you too hard, told me way
- 4:15Speaker 2: too hard, and you screamed like a like no, don't.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I got hurt because you were fucking really legit yanking
- 4:24Speaker 2: me across the ground with your lasso.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And you were like, don't pull me so hard.
- 4:29Speaker 2: No, And then we got in a fight, and I
- 4:30Speaker 2: think the rest of that scene we're like not speaking
- 4:33Speaker 2: to each other.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Really, you don't remember this.
- 4:35Speaker 2: When I watched this episode, I went, oh, that was
- 4:37Speaker 2: like our first time we got in a legit argument.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And then we had to like do the rest of
- 4:42Speaker 2: the scene, I think, and we were did.
- 4:45Speaker 1: We make up before the rap party? Because right after
- 4:47Speaker 1: this we moved to New York together.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We must have dude. I think it was like a
- 4:50Speaker 2: few day TIFFs. We had a few day TIFFs.
- 4:54Speaker 1: What have you been doing with your time? You went
- 4:56Speaker 1: away for a bit? What did you do the gallon?
- 4:59Speaker 2: I went to Joshua Tree to get out to go
- 5:02Speaker 2: to the desert.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Did you get out? Did you see anything? Did you
- 5:05Speaker 1: see rattlesnakes?
- 5:07Speaker 2: We saw lots of bunnies. I think they're bunnies. Hairs
- 5:10Speaker 2: are large, right, I didn't know if it was a
- 5:11Speaker 2: hair or a bunny. I think it was a bunny.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I think a hair is really large and bunnies are
- 5:15Speaker 1: really tin. I don't know, man, there's jack rabbits two
- 5:18Speaker 1: that are.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Listen the puppy. Everywhere the puppy went, it was getting
- 5:23Speaker 2: cactus thorns. Are they thorns in a cactus? Yes? All
- 5:28Speaker 2: over its paws. So we didn't know what to do.
- 5:32Speaker 2: So we got baby socks and we put the baby
- 5:36Speaker 2: socks on the puppy. But the baby socks kept falling off,
- 5:39Speaker 2: so then we got rubber bands and tied them around
- 5:44Speaker 2: the top of the baby socks so their booties would
- 5:46Speaker 2: stay on the dog's paws.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Did it cut the circulation? Off of the dogs.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Why not, idiots? Dude. It wasn't like super tight, but
- 5:54Speaker 2: we did it so the socks wouldn't fall off. So
- 5:56Speaker 2: then the dog is running around with four little babies
- 6:00Speaker 2: ox on because we must have done Oh man, there
- 6:06Speaker 2: was the the you can't bring a dog to Joshua Tree,
- 6:09Speaker 2: or if you can, you're more experienced dog owner than
- 6:12Speaker 2: we are. The dog couldn't figure it out. We couldn't
- 6:15Speaker 2: figure it out.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Wait, so you took you you brought your kid on
- 6:18Speaker 1: vacation with you. Pretty much, yeah, that's what you do. Well,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you could have kindled the dog and then.
- 6:24Speaker 2: No, no, no, well I don't mind a kennel for
- 6:29Speaker 2: an older dog. This is I mean, especially the kennel
- 6:31Speaker 2: we go to as like they run around and they're
- 6:33Speaker 2: and they're free and they're not like caged, and I'm
- 6:36Speaker 2: down with that. But but more often than not, I
- 6:38Speaker 2: would sooner get a house sitter, some a friend of
- 6:41Speaker 2: mine too, or my my assistant to stay here and
- 6:47Speaker 2: and take care of the dog here. But we it's
- 6:49Speaker 2: our baby, so we you know, you wouldn't want to
- 6:50Speaker 2: leave your newborn. It's like our newborn. So we brought
- 6:53Speaker 2: it to the Desert. But it was a mistake because
- 6:56Speaker 2: now I know in hindsight, they sell like legit dog boots.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Oh, you need to get your dog some elevens man
- 7:03Speaker 1: some Jordan eleven and.
- 7:04Speaker 2: That would be so funny. By the way, if they
- 7:06Speaker 2: made dog Jordan's, I would, or dog easies.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean the easies might be a little
- 7:12Speaker 1: bit more expensive than the Jordan elevens.
- 7:14Speaker 2: You know, dog easies would be hilarious. I would if
- 7:17Speaker 2: anyone makes those on like Etsy, I'll take them. But yeah, no,
- 7:21Speaker 2: they'd make legit dog booties. But we didn't have those,
- 7:24Speaker 2: so we we we jerry rigged some baby socks, made
- 7:28Speaker 2: a trick to a giant Walmart. We gloved up and
- 7:30Speaker 2: masked up and went into like the biggest Walmart.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So what is the deal? I thought you didn't necessarily
- 7:37Speaker 1: need to glove up anymore.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I don't. I'm just I'm just I'm just trying to
- 7:41Speaker 2: be as serious. You know, cases are spiking here in California,
- 7:44Speaker 2: so I'm trying to be as serious as possible.
- 7:47Speaker 1: But is it okay? This is what I read and
- 7:50Speaker 1: I could be wrong, Dan Joell, please jump in if
- 7:53Speaker 1: I am wrong, and if I'm right jump in as well.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But I was under the impression that a lot of
- 7:59Speaker 1: the spike that we're having in California, this all could
- 8:02Speaker 1: be propaganda, are delayed tests that have finally come in,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and that we're testing more people than most states, and
- 8:12Speaker 1: so because of that.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But the President is broadcasting that.
- 8:16Speaker 1: No, I wasn't. I didn't get this from the President.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I got this from California. Actually, the president's broadcasting, yes,
- 8:24Speaker 1: that we are getting spikes because of our testing situation.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But California, from what I was told, was we had
- 8:33Speaker 1: at least from what I heard from Newsom and what
- 8:35Speaker 1: I heard from Garcetti and all of that stuff like that,
- 8:38Speaker 1: is that we had flattened the curve and we were climbing.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But we were climbing because more tests were coming in.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Well, let's test Dan, He's very knowledgeable, Dan, you honor me.
- 8:48Speaker 4: You know, we are definitely. Donald is certainly right that
- 8:51Speaker 4: as we test more, we are seeing more positive cases.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I think the measure of wearing gloves at places like
- 8:56Speaker 4: the supermarket, I think is not necessarily over as you know,
- 9:01Speaker 4: you're bringing your germs out into the world, and who
- 9:03Speaker 4: knows how many of those cans someone has already touched,
- 9:06Speaker 4: et cetera. I mean, I think all safety measures are good.
- 9:09Speaker 4: The best one you can take is not touching your
- 9:10Speaker 4: face before you come back and wash your hands and
- 9:13Speaker 4: yeah right, we wash.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Our stuff too when we go to the grocery store.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I'm here.
- 9:18Speaker 2: We we spray and wash everything down because you don't
- 9:21Speaker 2: know if someone with COVID took that off the shelf
- 9:24Speaker 2: and was like, oh, I don't need it, and then
- 9:25Speaker 2: you grabbed it exactly.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah. But the but from what I heard, from what
- 9:28Speaker 1: the CDC said, and from what a lot of doctors said,
- 9:31Speaker 1: it's not necessary. You can't necessarily get it from surface contact.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It has to be it droplets and airborne. From what
- 9:39Speaker 1: I understand, I don't know if that's true. I mean,
- 9:42Speaker 1: this is this is what the CDC is saying.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I know, But don't be fucking steering our listeners wrong, because.
- 9:46Speaker 1: You're like, I'm not staring anybody. I'm not steering anybody wrong.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying what I heard. I don't know.
- 9:51Speaker 2: What about Djokovic. Huh, what about Djokovic?
- 9:54Speaker 1: I know Djokovic got that ship, dude.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, because he's fucking partying with his like and doing
- 9:59Speaker 2: like sweaty chest to chest hugs.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Really do you saw this for you know this for
- 10:04Speaker 1: a fact.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I read this on the interwebs that he there's video
- 10:07Speaker 2: of him raging at like some I think it was
- 10:09Speaker 2: a Croatian tennis tournament. And then at that tournament they
- 10:13Speaker 2: were doing like after the match, like sweaty naked chest
- 10:18Speaker 2: to chest hugs. Wow, and now he's out. He's about
- 10:21Speaker 2: to start a tournament, right Dan. Was it the French openers?
- 10:24Speaker 1: I think so? Yeah, he can't ship. He got the
- 10:27Speaker 1: he got that ship.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Now are they here? I don't want to upset Bill.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Are they in the room?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Can't hear you?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Damn domin Mic Ironically, the tech wizard can't figure out
- 10:37Speaker 2: his new fucking mind. It's okay, let's have a party.
- 10:49Speaker 2: It's the final episode of season one. Hey, I love
- 10:57Speaker 2: that she's representing Hi. How Charlotte Lawrence, that you're representing
- 11:02Speaker 2: with your Charlotte Lawrence merch always Now to remind our listeners,
- 11:08Speaker 2: when COVID began, Christa told Bill that he would be
- 11:13Speaker 2: She set up a guest room in the house and
- 11:15Speaker 2: she said, Bill, that's your office. You're allowed to come
- 11:19Speaker 2: out for lunch. But you worked there nine to five, now, right, Bill.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not. I don't think she was even comfortable
- 11:27Speaker 3: to the idea of me venturing out to do this together.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So I still have to stay down in here.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Well, Bill wanted to be in my office together doing it,
- 11:37Speaker 5: which would have been squashed and he would have stopped
- 11:39Speaker 5: hugged me, so I said.
- 11:41Speaker 6: No, he's gotta go downstairs.
- 11:43Speaker 1: We were hoping to get a stop hugg on this.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Listen. I want to tell you that, Bill, this is
- 11:49Speaker 2: so annoying to me because it involves shit that you've said.
- 11:53Speaker 2: But they sent us, you know, merch options for the podcast,
- 11:57Speaker 2: and there's like one hug that says stop hug. There's
- 12:01Speaker 2: another mug that says five to six seven eight. I'm like,
- 12:04Speaker 2: this is all the fucking Bill's jokes.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Here's the this is the real. I appreciate this. The
- 12:11Speaker 3: five six seven eights. I think that's funny and that
- 12:13Speaker 3: doesn't count as one, Dan, But.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I am the boss of this show.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We didn't even get into two minutes of the.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Wants to be the first one to do the song
- 12:31Speaker 3: before the song so the but what but what bums
- 12:35Speaker 3: me out is that stop hug is a real and
- 12:38Speaker 3: cherished thing, and now it's a joke that's out there,
- 12:40Speaker 3: and I don't like that at all. I don't like
- 12:42Speaker 3: other peoplesh joking. Yeah, it's I think it's important in
- 12:46Speaker 3: our relationship, and I think that you secretly love it.
- 12:50Speaker 6: No, I don't.
- 12:53Speaker 1: So wait a second. Let me get this straight, Krista,
- 12:56Speaker 1: if stop hug was to go away forever, you would
- 13:00Speaker 1: be happy.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I'd be good.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I found myself. I found myself recently wanting a hug
- 13:09Speaker 2: from my girlfriend and when she was busy and I
- 13:12Speaker 2: kind of tried to do a stop hug and she
- 13:15Speaker 2: was not a fan of the stop hug because she's
- 13:18Speaker 2: she was making dinner. But I was like, mine, can
- 13:21Speaker 2: I have a stop hug?
- 13:23Speaker 3: You guys can talk. You guys can all talk about
- 13:26Speaker 3: stop hugs going away as if that's a real thing.
- 13:28Speaker 3: But it's like a fake premise. They're never going away,
- 13:32Speaker 3: and they will they will always always be part of
- 13:35Speaker 3: my and my wife's life.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Listen, you know you know who loves the stop You
- 13:39Speaker 1: know who loves a stop hug. Cobb loves the stop
- 13:42Speaker 1: really Yeah yeah, yeah, so I can get I mean
- 13:45Speaker 1: she she I take it back. There are times where
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm like, let's hug, and she gives me the face like,
- 13:51Speaker 1: goddamn it, we just did that ship five minutes ago.
- 13:54Speaker 3: But Donald, Donald, those are the best stop hugs man.
- 13:57Speaker 1: That is when when she rolls her eyes right before
- 14:02Speaker 1: we hug, I am so.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Excited thinking about it. That nothing better than when you
- 14:08Speaker 3: know for sure they don't want it.
- 14:11Speaker 5: I mean, we can go into a longer discussion about boundaries,
- 14:15Speaker 5: but perhaps it's not something we want to address.
- 14:18Speaker 3: No, I don't think people want to do that on
- 14:21Speaker 3: a fun podcast.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I think you guys are a very adorable couple because
- 14:25Speaker 2: you keep it fresh. You have a little bit of
- 14:28Speaker 2: a bickery banter, but you very much love each other.
- 14:33Speaker 3: That is true, Yes, and that was nice to say
- 14:36Speaker 3: a little bit of a bickery banter was lovely.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Well, I've been on I've been on vacation with you guys,
- 14:41Speaker 2: so I know that at times it might peak a
- 14:43Speaker 2: little higher.
- 14:46Speaker 5: And then I get and then usually when it peaks,
- 14:48Speaker 5: I get a talking to from Zach.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah. See, I'm like their therapists when we're on vacation,
- 14:54Speaker 2: I'll be like guys, guys, guys. Both of my parents
- 14:57Speaker 2: were therapists, let me let me do a little work
- 14:59Speaker 2: on you.
- 15:00Speaker 3: To tag it. Hey Donald, belated, Happy birthday, buddy.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm forty
- 15:08Speaker 1: six years old.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Now you're a young looking man. Just to know that I.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Will accept and receive that, thank you very much. Uh,
- 15:15Speaker 1: we had. I had a great day yesterday. The day
- 15:17Speaker 1: before my birthday was Father's Day. So I've had two
- 15:20Speaker 1: days in a row of just straight up appreciation from
- 15:24Speaker 1: my family, even if they were faking it. Even if
- 15:26Speaker 1: it was fake beca wasn't real, It's still warmed my
- 15:30Speaker 1: heart for two days. And I knew it was fake
- 15:32Speaker 1: when at midnight when I was like trying to, you know,
- 15:37Speaker 1: say good night to the wife, she was like, ah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I'm going to bed, and I was like, I guess
- 15:42Speaker 1: birthday's over. Huh, it's over, you.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Know how you know what you just said, even if
- 15:49Speaker 3: it fakes, even if it's fake, it still feels great.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Not unlike a stop hug.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Not like a stop pugg not unlike a stophug. I've learned.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I've learned to appreciate the annoyed because I know underneath
- 16:04Speaker 1: all of that there is love. So you know what
- 16:07Speaker 1: I will accept to receive.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Well, I want you guys to know the level of
- 16:10Speaker 2: Casey's love of Bill and Christa that I posted a
- 16:13Speaker 2: really beautiful shot of Donald and I today on my
- 16:15Speaker 2: Instagram and it was it's an old picture obviously because
- 16:18Speaker 2: we're lying next to you.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Sorry, oh my god.
- 16:21Speaker 2: And Christy is the Christa is the person in my
- 16:24Speaker 2: life who corrects that the most. And I'm nervous. I
- 16:29Speaker 2: find myself when I'm about to use the and me
- 16:31Speaker 2: or and I around Krista being nervous, be like which one.
- 16:34Speaker 1: That's a hard one? That's a hard one?
- 16:35Speaker 2: Christ has a trick? Christy, do you teach the audience
- 16:38Speaker 2: your trick? Because I never learned this in school.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Well, if you're saying a picture with me, then you
- 16:46Speaker 5: wouldn't say with I right right now.
- 16:49Speaker 2: But you told me. You told me a thing where
- 16:51Speaker 2: you remove the other person and you just and you
- 16:53Speaker 2: just say how you would say it if you were
- 16:55Speaker 2: just saying with me or with I.
- 16:58Speaker 5: But you said, there's a cute picture of Donald and me.
- 17:01Speaker 6: There's a cute picture of me.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I see there you go, So I just removed Donald
- 17:06Speaker 2: and I go, there's a cute picture of me. I
- 17:09Speaker 2: wouldn't say there's a cute picture of I, thank you?
- 17:13Speaker 1: But do you always have to go with Donald first?
- 17:15Speaker 1: Can you say there's a cute picture of me and Donald?
- 17:18Speaker 6: No, okay, that's incorrect as well.
- 17:20Speaker 2: There's a cute picture of Donald and me I put
- 17:23Speaker 2: on Instagram and it's old and Donald is a little hefty.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And wait, hold on now, hold on.
- 17:29Speaker 2: You are You're a hefty in the pictures?
- 17:31Speaker 3: Unacceptable some of the.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Some of the comments has said things like how many months?
- 17:36Speaker 2: Is Donald? That kind of thing? And I because I
- 17:43Speaker 2: thought he looked cute. I thought he looked adorable, Like
- 17:46Speaker 2: I know, I'm sure you guys have this as a
- 17:47Speaker 2: married couple. Donald, I have to say, like, oh, I
- 17:49Speaker 2: thought you looked cute. I hate that picture of me?
- 17:51Speaker 2: How dare you pose that.
- 17:52Speaker 1: We have it?
- 17:52Speaker 7: You'll look cute in the picture?
- 17:54Speaker 1: Do I think I look cute?
- 17:55Speaker 2: No, he's exactly I look cute.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yes, I think, of course, of course he looks cute.
- 17:59Speaker 1: That's why he posted it.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Anyway, Donald Kristen would post a picture of me shirtless
- 18:05Speaker 3: and four hundred pounds overweight and vomit all over my
- 18:09Speaker 3: chest if she thought she looked cute at it.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like he is a monster behind them.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It's like all of those it's like all of those
- 18:18Speaker 1: ladies that have the picture of them and the baby
- 18:20Speaker 1: and the baby is not even looking and it's kind
- 18:21Speaker 1: of like, you know, got woozy face, but they look
- 18:24Speaker 1: great and they go, oh, look at the cute little baby,
- 18:26Speaker 1: and it's like, no, you didn't post that for the baby.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like that.
- 18:30Speaker 3: And Casey got mad at your ass or what.
- 18:32Speaker 5: No.
- 18:32Speaker 2: So Casey slid into my DMS and was like, you
- 18:34Speaker 2: couldn't have cropped him. And I just thought it was
- 18:40Speaker 2: funny because it was like a good wife looking out
- 18:42Speaker 2: for her husband's belly.
- 18:45Speaker 3: It makes me love Casey even more.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Man.
- 18:47Speaker 3: By the way, that's that's another just idyllic couple. Donald, Man,
- 18:50Speaker 3: you found you found the right one there. That's a
- 18:52Speaker 3: fucking rock star.
- 18:53Speaker 1: She does love me. Man, I'm very lucky we are.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You're both perfect couples. You both are examples in my life.
- 19:00Speaker 2: And I'm not just saying this because you're on the
- 19:01Speaker 2: phone of of being the perfect ying yang for each other.
- 19:05Speaker 2: You're both couples. The men and women are very different
- 19:08Speaker 2: from each other, very different, but compliment each other perfectly.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I think I.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Thought it poetic that Kristal walked away during that.
- 19:14Speaker 5: No, no, no, I just wanted to show Zachi a picture
- 19:19Speaker 5: of he took.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Of Sarah Chalk and myself. That is so cute.
- 19:27Speaker 7: How cute is that?
- 19:28Speaker 5: That's from the bahamas'mas Yeah, and you took it with
- 19:33Speaker 5: my camera.
- 19:34Speaker 1: We were just talking about this whole camera situation that
- 19:37Speaker 1: went on during the Scrubs run. Did you have Were
- 19:41Speaker 1: you a big camera fanatic before Brendan Fraser showed up.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Krista, Yes, I was.
- 19:49Speaker 5: I Brendan I bonded over the over cameras.
- 19:54Speaker 6: But yeah, I had.
- 19:55Speaker 5: My mom's third husband was a photographer. I was often taking.
- 20:04Speaker 2: With you guys laughing because she's at third husband.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I was laughing because I'm uncomfortable much. Bill started laughing.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I was like, I've got a laugh too.
- 20:14Speaker 2: So why do why people get married a third time? Like,
- 20:17Speaker 2: don't you just don't get married? You try it twice
- 20:19Speaker 2: and if it if it's not for you, just stop
- 20:21Speaker 2: getting married.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Why can't you are their fourth husband? Now that one
- 20:25Speaker 3: took though, that one.
- 20:26Speaker 6: Took, Yeah, no, yeah, that one's going all right.
- 20:29Speaker 2: So continue continued anyway.
- 20:31Speaker 5: So yeah, so, and I've always and then I stuck
- 20:34Speaker 5: to film because I think it's the most beautiful. And
- 20:36Speaker 5: then anytime I was modeling or you know, doing any shoots,
- 20:41Speaker 5: I would talk to the photographer and buddy up to
- 20:44Speaker 5: them and have them teach me tricks and techniques.
- 20:48Speaker 3: With stogvery plus, Zach was a nerd. Brandon was Donald.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I never did it. You never did it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: No, I never did it.
- 20:55Speaker 2: We had we had Brandon on and Donald said something like, no,
- 20:58Speaker 2: we had Shay when when she had Chase Rano on
- 21:01Speaker 2: and we were talking about Brendan's first episode with the
- 21:03Speaker 2: camera and he Donald was like, why do I have
- 21:06Speaker 2: so many polaroid pictures of myself? And I explained to
- 21:09Speaker 2: him that Brendan got you and I into old school
- 21:14Speaker 2: polaroid photography.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Yeah, and also Brendan got me, Like Brendan, I mean,
- 21:21Speaker 5: I've just gotten back in time with photography. My cameras
- 21:24Speaker 5: just are bigger and clunkier than they were before because
- 21:27Speaker 5: I used the old school ones. But Brendan and I
- 21:29Speaker 5: used to go into his dark room, hit a dark
- 21:31Speaker 5: room in his house when he used to live in California,
- 21:33Speaker 5: which I loved and I used to go over there
- 21:34Speaker 5: once a week and we used to sit in there
- 21:36Speaker 5: for hours, and it made me realize that Bill would
- 21:40Speaker 5: never let me have a dark room here because he
- 21:41Speaker 5: would never see me.
- 21:42Speaker 6: I mean, I would just go in there for Wow.
- 21:46Speaker 2: It's also hard to stop hug on the red lights
- 21:48Speaker 2: of the dark.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I have a question, is it because you would be
- 21:52Speaker 1: experimenting with different exposures or or I mean, I can't
- 21:57Speaker 1: imagine that you take that many pictures that you're going
- 21:59Speaker 1: to just develop everything, like you know what I mean
- 22:02Speaker 1: after you look at the contact sheet?
- 22:04Speaker 2: Is it?
- 22:05Speaker 1: Like I know that some people go into the darkmen
- 22:07Speaker 1: and then they try to create a formula of dip
- 22:10Speaker 1: and all of that stuff where the pictures come out
- 22:13Speaker 1: a little different and everything like that. Is that what
- 22:15Speaker 1: it is?
- 22:16Speaker 5: Yeah, there's great techniques to printing film in a dark
- 22:20Speaker 5: room that you are messing with the exposures and with
- 22:25Speaker 5: the shadows and trying to bring maybe a picture with
- 22:28Speaker 5: a little under exposed when you shot it and then
- 22:30Speaker 5: you try to fix it in the dark room.
- 22:32Speaker 6: Things you can do digitally now easily.
- 22:36Speaker 2: There was a lot of fun. It was a lot
- 22:37Speaker 2: of fun doing I got into photography in high school
- 22:40Speaker 2: because we had a photography class in high school and
- 22:42Speaker 2: I learned about the dark room, and I just thought
- 22:44Speaker 2: it was so much fun. Now, of course everyone just
- 22:46Speaker 2: does it digitally, but it was a really fun thing
- 22:50Speaker 2: to be experimenting with and doing. I loved it too.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Did you three all call each other and say we
- 22:55Speaker 3: should make sure we start by talking about something that
- 22:57Speaker 3: Bill doesn't know anything about, so he doesn't talk all
- 22:59Speaker 3: the time.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Know nothing about this. I know nothing about this. I'm
- 23:02Speaker 1: just trying to figure out how you know where it
- 23:04Speaker 1: all stemmed from, because Zach believes it stemmed from Brendan.
- 23:09Speaker 1: He believes that that was the beginning of more than me.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Zach, No, no, no, Donald's not remembering one. I said
- 23:15Speaker 2: that Christa and I were both hobbyists, and then Brendan
- 23:17Speaker 2: brought the world of old school polaroids into our lives.
- 23:20Speaker 3: That's true.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I wanted to tell you that that Krista and Bill.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Krista knows they love cameras of all types. And I
- 23:27Speaker 2: went over to their house for Christmas, and I was
- 23:30Speaker 2: very excited about the present that I had gotten them.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I had found them these really really cool Japanese slippers
- 23:37Speaker 2: and they were they were cool. I thought they were cool.
- 23:41Speaker 6: And then.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Christa said, here's the present from me and Bill. Mind you,
- 23:46Speaker 2: I hadn't given them the slippers yet. And I open
- 23:49Speaker 2: it up and it is the most gorgeous antique medium
- 23:54Speaker 2: format camera that is like priceless and vintage and special.
- 23:59Speaker 6: It works.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Not only can you use it, but you'd also like
- 24:02Speaker 2: put it on your mantlepiece. And uh, and I'm like,
- 24:05Speaker 2: I'm thinking in my head, holy fuck, I bought them slippers.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Great presence.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Always thank you if it makes you, If it makes
- 24:15Speaker 3: you feel any better. I didn't know what we got
- 24:17Speaker 3: you until you opened it.
- 24:24Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 24:27Speaker 1: That's why you know what? Before we go any further stories.
- 24:33Speaker 8: That show we made about a bunch of dogs and
- 24:37Speaker 8: nurses and janitor.
- 24:40Speaker 1: He said, here's a stories natural.
- 24:45Speaker 9: So YadA roun here yeada, herewies and now we're in.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Now, we're in. Now listen. We've been doing this for
- 24:57Speaker 2: a full season. Guys. We we did not know this
- 25:00Speaker 2: would be popular, and it's so fun that it is.
- 25:03Speaker 2: But we could Donald and I couldn't think of a
- 25:05Speaker 2: better way to and the first season of it than
- 25:07Speaker 2: to have you two on. Of course, because you're both
- 25:11Speaker 2: so funny. And also, of course Bill, this is your baby.
- 25:14Speaker 2: And thirdly, we thought we might get you guys bickering,
- 25:17Speaker 2: which is always good radio.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Yeah, always thank you and congratulations.
- 25:23Speaker 6: I'm loving it. It makes me happy than you.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I listen as a fan and I think, uh, not
- 25:31Speaker 3: only do I love you know, revisiting a show that
- 25:34Speaker 3: I like you guys, I've almost forgotten all of it,
- 25:37Speaker 3: but listening to you guys live out your friendship in
- 25:40Speaker 3: real time on here, it gives me great joy. It's
- 25:43Speaker 3: super fun.
- 25:44Speaker 1: None of this would be possible if it wasn't for you.
- 25:47Speaker 1: So more than anything, thank you, man, please.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Thank yous. We always thank you for the show, but
- 25:52Speaker 2: we we we probably never thank you for the friendship
- 25:55Speaker 2: that you instilled inspired whatever the correct word is. And
- 26:00Speaker 2: uh and that's that's that's the gift that keeps on giving.
- 26:03Speaker 2: My our our our love for each other was born
- 26:05Speaker 2: when when you thought we did the best job in
- 26:07Speaker 2: the audition room. Even though we know now that Donald
- 26:09Speaker 2: fucked up. I could be sitting here doing a podcast
- 26:15Speaker 2: with dou lat Hill.
- 26:19Speaker 7: I have a question, do you and Donald ver bicker?
- 26:22Speaker 2: We were just funny, We were just talking that before
- 26:24Speaker 2: you guys got on Bill. You probably don't know this
- 26:26Speaker 2: because you weren't there. You were in the writer's room.
- 26:29Speaker 2: But this episode is one of the first times I
- 26:32Speaker 2: remember getting in a fight with Donald when we were
- 26:34Speaker 2: doing the stunt where he last soos me in the
- 26:37Speaker 2: ICU and pulls me. Donald of course got very excited
- 26:40Speaker 2: and uh and and pulled me like legitimately hard across
- 26:43Speaker 2: that floor and it fucking hurt and uh and then
- 26:47Speaker 2: he wasn't apologetic and we got in a fight, and
- 26:50Speaker 2: the rest of the.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Nor a fight. We got into an argument. I would
- 26:53Speaker 1: have whipped your ass if you were to put your
- 26:55Speaker 1: hands on Let's give one, didn't.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I didn't mean to imply that we got in a
- 26:59Speaker 2: fist fight. We got in an argument, and then the
- 27:01Speaker 2: rest of the episode we're like, the rest of that scene,
- 27:04Speaker 2: we're like, we'ren't speaking to each other. So that scene
- 27:07Speaker 2: has played out in silent treatment.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Dude, what's the longest that we've gone without talking to
- 27:12Speaker 1: each other because of a fight. What's the longest? Oh,
- 27:14Speaker 1: probably a week, couple of no, a couple of months, dude.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Casey, Casey. Whenever we get in a fight, Casey usually
- 27:20Speaker 2: becomes the arbitrator and works it out. She becomes our
- 27:24Speaker 2: couple's therapists.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's very interesting.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I want, I want to be. My problem is I
- 27:29Speaker 3: think Christa could go years without talking to me, and
- 27:33Speaker 3: I'm always like I'll match her stubbornness, and I fold
- 27:36Speaker 3: after about six minutes. Please please, please love me again.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I hate I hate being in an argument with either
- 27:45Speaker 2: a friend or a partner. I just like that that awkward,
- 27:48Speaker 2: like angrily making a sandwich in the kitchen. It's rowing
- 27:54Speaker 2: down the peanut butter knife.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I don't by the way, you reference one of the
- 27:59Speaker 3: moments that I thought was really funny on the show.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Not to take it to the show, but that that
- 28:04Speaker 3: universal concept of not wanting to get in another couple's
- 28:07Speaker 3: fight and getting dragged back into it. And then what
- 28:11Speaker 3: I I since I watched all these having forgotten them too,
- 28:14Speaker 3: when I see you hand it to h Aloma to
- 28:17Speaker 3: nurse Roberts. Yeah, and she and she gets pulled back,
- 28:20Speaker 3: but much more comfortably on her back.
- 28:23Speaker 2: On her back, I think, like on a skateboard or something,
- 28:25Speaker 2: because if you float, she's floating like several inches above
- 28:29Speaker 2: the girl.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I think the grip made Aloma her own dolly. Yes,
- 28:36Speaker 2: Mahoma's not going to get dragged real for real by
- 28:39Speaker 2: Donald and uh and get in a fight with him.
- 28:41Speaker 3: No, there's no silent treatment there. How how long would
- 28:44Speaker 3: a real fight between you two last? If it was physical? Donald,
- 28:47Speaker 3: do you think Zach even holds his own for a
- 28:49Speaker 3: couple of seconds?
- 28:49Speaker 1: I think his cardio is way better than mine now,
- 28:52Speaker 1: so I'd have to hand it. I'd have to end
- 28:54Speaker 1: it quickly because if I didn't, I would get tired,
- 28:58Speaker 1: and then his little taps would trying into hard punches.
- 29:01Speaker 2: That's bullshit, listen, Donald and I, Well, true, dude, we
- 29:04Speaker 2: used to bull true. I've never heard the expression bull true.
- 29:08Speaker 2: We used to get in play fights and you know,
- 29:10Speaker 2: just like you know for ten boxing, and I would
- 29:13Speaker 2: feel beaten up even by that within seconds, because it
- 29:16Speaker 2: was like I'd like throw a fake punch, then he'd
- 29:18Speaker 2: block it and then come with the other hand. I'd
- 29:20Speaker 2: be like, oh, I'd be knocked out by that. Let's
- 29:23Speaker 2: get into the episode, directed by Michael Spiller, who's always
- 29:26Speaker 2: one of our favorites, right, guys.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Big round of applause for the season finale.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Season finale, I didn't remember a bunch of this. Of course,
- 29:34Speaker 2: I remember it was Christa's epic monologue, which we'll get
- 29:37Speaker 2: to in the end. I didn't remember this mirror gag
- 29:39Speaker 2: at all.
- 29:39Speaker 5: I I wrote that I didn't remember Christa.
- 29:42Speaker 2: You look stunning, and I believe you're wearing a leather blouse.
- 29:47Speaker 7: What I'm wearing. But where was the mirror? I don't
- 29:50Speaker 7: remember that.
- 29:51Speaker 3: All I remember is that Scrubs was the one time
- 29:55Speaker 3: I was ever able to coerce you into having short hair,
- 29:57Speaker 3: because you know how I love you with short hair.
- 30:00Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know, watching this episode, I'm like, do
- 30:03Speaker 5: I go with that?
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yes?
- 30:05Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah, well, yes, yes, you say that.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I really, I mean, you look you look great.
- 30:10Speaker 1: And all the ways, but I know not.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Everybody can pull off this hairstyle. And I think you
- 30:17Speaker 2: look really good.
- 30:18Speaker 1: You look so choppy and pc.
- 30:22Speaker 7: Yeah, and a long short hair cut. It's like long,
- 30:24Speaker 7: I thought, I.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not longer than the shoulders, but it's it's
- 30:29Speaker 1: it's it still has a little bit of a flip.
- 30:33Speaker 6: Yes, always like Donald, don't boys like long hair. I
- 30:38Speaker 6: mean Casey has long hair.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but Casey has long hair because she likes long hair.
- 30:42Speaker 1: It's not because it's not what I like, it's what
- 30:44Speaker 1: she likes.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Not everybody. I don't think everybody can pull it off. Christa,
- 30:47Speaker 2: but you you, you, you show in this episode that
- 30:50Speaker 2: you can because I think you look great.
- 30:51Speaker 1: You look amazing in this episode.
- 30:53Speaker 2: And your leather I didn't know a leather blouse was
- 30:55Speaker 2: a thing, but you look great.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I remember that mere thing. And this is what was
- 31:00Speaker 3: cool about having a show with fantasies is we are
- 31:03Speaker 3: trying to reprise the mirror thing from the pilot, and
- 31:06Speaker 3: then we knew we had to give everybody the backstory
- 31:10Speaker 3: kind of from the whole season so we could blow
- 31:12Speaker 3: it up at the end, and we just did it
- 31:13Speaker 3: by having them all talk to in the mirror really fast.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so you knew.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Donald and Carlo were fighting, you knew that you hooked
- 31:21Speaker 3: up with Christa, Johnny C's wife, and we knew you
- 31:24Speaker 3: know that you and Sarah still had some shit going on,
- 31:26Speaker 3: so we tried to just get it all out there quick.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Well, so you're saying, as a writing device, you kind
- 31:30Speaker 2: of wanted to brief the audience on here's where we're
- 31:33Speaker 2: ending the season, right, here's.
- 31:35Speaker 3: All the things that we're going to blow up at
- 31:36Speaker 3: the end, some of which we aren't going to talk
- 31:38Speaker 3: about a ton in.
- 31:38Speaker 2: This episode, right, And so you have to Bill when
- 31:41Speaker 2: you're writing, I think I know the answer, But just
- 31:46Speaker 2: for people that are aspiring writers out there of TV shows,
- 31:49Speaker 2: you kind of also have to remember like what the
- 31:51Speaker 2: audience knows and what they don't know, and even if
- 31:53Speaker 2: they're an avid viewer, they may have missed a week.
- 31:55Speaker 2: So is there a little bit of an onus on
- 31:57Speaker 2: you to just kind of get everyone in a headspace
- 32:00Speaker 2: of knowing what's about to happen.
- 32:02Speaker 3: There used to be there used to be. It's changed
- 32:06Speaker 3: with streaming television binging and you know now people do
- 32:08Speaker 3: things that they put and I love it because I'm
- 32:10Speaker 3: a fan. They'll put something in one episode and never
- 32:13Speaker 3: mention it again, and they'll come up in episode five
- 32:14Speaker 3: and if you're a fan, you're like, woo, that's binge watching, right.
- 32:18Speaker 3: And when when network TV used to exist, they used
- 32:20Speaker 3: to tell you, uh, your most frequent viewer watches one
- 32:24Speaker 3: out of every three episodes.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I told you, I told you, Bill told us that,
- 32:28Speaker 1: I told you, Bill told us that last episode with
- 32:31Speaker 1: Shay and You and you guys were fucking clowning me
- 32:34Speaker 1: because you were saying that I didn't watch it. I
- 32:36Speaker 1: would lie to people, But Bill told us that back
- 32:39Speaker 1: in the day, you're most freaking and first and that
- 32:41Speaker 1: comes up to you and says, I fucking love your
- 32:43Speaker 1: show with maybe seeing four episodes.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's like a huge fan. That network used
- 32:47Speaker 3: to say a huge fan if you did twenty two episodes,
- 32:50Speaker 3: you say, a huge fan probably saw eight of them
- 32:52Speaker 3: that season. And then know that and then more than well,
- 32:56Speaker 3: that's when remember that's when your audience would be ten
- 32:59Speaker 3: to fifteen million people and you'd go like, oh, we
- 33:01Speaker 3: have four million that watched them all, and then six
- 33:05Speaker 3: million that watched ten episodes, and then a few million
- 33:09Speaker 3: that watched like three or four, you know.
- 33:11Speaker 2: And so it's funny when I think back to as
- 33:13Speaker 2: a kid, to shows I love, like, let's just to
- 33:15Speaker 2: pick one, Cheers. I saw a fraction of episodes of Cheers,
- 33:18Speaker 2: you know, Like, so I guess, as I think about it,
- 33:21Speaker 2: I am that I was that way too, And it
- 33:23Speaker 2: was that sort of viewing.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're TV fans that ended up in this
- 33:27Speaker 3: business and that was us so and now it's that
- 33:29Speaker 3: that that that ethos is gone. Now you you assume
- 33:34Speaker 3: with these streaming shows that people that are watching them
- 33:36Speaker 3: are binging them if they like them, and you don't
- 33:38Speaker 3: have to make reference to anything you've done episodes before.
- 33:41Speaker 3: So yeah, we felt the always felt the burden to
- 33:45Speaker 3: catch people up.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And Bill, another question is where was your head out
- 33:49Speaker 2: when we got here? I don't remember, and I wonder
- 33:53Speaker 2: if you do, how we how we were doing in
- 33:55Speaker 2: the ratings. Were you were you confident we were going
- 33:57Speaker 2: to get another season?
- 33:59Speaker 3: Well, yeah, we were. We at this point we were
- 34:01Speaker 3: a very successful show, and uh, I was even expecting
- 34:05Speaker 3: us to be on After Friends, which we were the
- 34:07Speaker 3: next year, you know.
- 34:09Speaker 1: And so.
- 34:11Speaker 3: The we were just trying to blow everything up because
- 34:14Speaker 3: we had kind of done, you know, we had outlined
- 34:16Speaker 3: a year to get through their internship, and then we
- 34:19Speaker 3: wanted to go, let's not repeat it next year. Let's
- 34:21Speaker 3: blow it all up. Let's do them thinking that they're
- 34:23Speaker 3: becoming doctors, but remind people what's still out there. Elliott
- 34:27Speaker 3: still has a thing for JD. Jordan, whether she wants
- 34:30Speaker 3: to admit it or not, is still in love with
- 34:31Speaker 3: doctor Cox.
- 34:32Speaker 5: Uh.
- 34:33Speaker 3: He is obsessed with Carla for his own narcissistic reasons
- 34:37Speaker 3: Carl and Turk are considering getting serious in their relationship.
- 34:40Speaker 3: You know all that stuff.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I have to admit you something. I have to admit
- 34:44Speaker 2: something to you, very embarrassing after twenty years. I had
- 34:46Speaker 2: forgotten that. And when and when when Christas says at
- 34:49Speaker 2: the end, admit that you still have feelings for JD,
- 34:52Speaker 2: I personally got excited for JD. I was like, she
- 34:55Speaker 2: likes me still, like I had forgotten because Sara does
- 34:58Speaker 2: such a good job Elliott. Sarah Elliott does a good
- 35:01Speaker 2: job of totally seeming like she's over it, like and
- 35:05Speaker 2: obviously I know where it goes in the end of
- 35:06Speaker 2: the show. But when you said that and Sarah gave
- 35:09Speaker 2: a look like you just outed me, I was like,
- 35:11Speaker 2: I was like happy for me.
- 35:12Speaker 1: JD.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Well, you know it's so weird man TV and the
- 35:17Speaker 3: fandom and you guys decide what we do in many
- 35:20Speaker 3: ways with your performance, because we did that Pizza Clock
- 35:25Speaker 3: episode with you and Sarah because we said we don't
- 35:28Speaker 3: want to do will there won't they? So Turk and
- 35:30Speaker 3: Karla are going to be the couple that's together for
- 35:32Speaker 3: the whole duration of the show. Will there won't They?
- 35:35Speaker 3: Will be Doctor Cox and Jordan and JD and Elliott
- 35:38Speaker 3: will have them hook up now and do that, run
- 35:42Speaker 3: the relationship fully through its course, and then we'll never
- 35:44Speaker 3: be back there again. But the second we did it,
- 35:47Speaker 3: people wanted it and wanted to track it. It became inevitable.
- 35:50Speaker 3: You guys had chemistry.
- 35:51Speaker 2: So I mean I want that. I mean, I guess
- 35:54Speaker 2: I'm the typical viewer. I love a will there won't they?
- 35:57Speaker 2: I'm a sucker for that.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes great television, you guys. I didn't realize
- 36:02Speaker 1: that Cox and Jordan were the will they or won't
- 36:05Speaker 1: they until this episode. Really, when you see that Jordan
- 36:09Speaker 1: really does have feelings for it. Yeah, that was such
- 36:12Speaker 1: a vulnerable moment where she, you know, she first she
- 36:15Speaker 1: thanks him, like, yo, dude, first of all, thank you
- 36:17Speaker 1: for not pressuring me into having to, you know, go
- 36:22Speaker 1: into this thing tomorrow and speak up for you. I
- 36:24Speaker 1: truly appreciate that. And then his response and her face
- 36:29Speaker 1: and reaction to it all when he says, right, yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 1: it was like, well you could feel her pain, you
- 36:35Speaker 1: know what I mean, you can feel the pain like
- 36:36Speaker 1: she was with you know, she Jordan truly, you know,
- 36:41Speaker 1: as much as she front she still loves this guy,
- 36:45Speaker 1: and he's playing it. It's clear that he loves her
- 36:49Speaker 1: later on, but he's playing it at this moment, like
- 36:51Speaker 1: I know why you're here. He's oblivious, he's aloof he's
- 36:55Speaker 1: he's a he's a moron also for it too, you
- 36:58Speaker 1: know what I mean. You gotta get to listen. If
- 37:00Speaker 1: somebody shows up over and over and over and over
- 37:02Speaker 1: again for a booty call, dude, wake up and smell
- 37:04Speaker 1: the flavor.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Man, this shit is real, right, And the first time,
- 37:07Speaker 2: for the first time, we see Jordan being vulnerable there, right,
- 37:11Speaker 2: christ I mean, she's like, you're like sitting even your body.
- 37:14Speaker 6: Language, your life, I know, I feel small.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Yeah, And you've got a blanket over you, you know, whereas
- 37:18Speaker 2: you've been all this, this sexually confident woman who's talking shit,
- 37:22Speaker 2: you're curling. I thought it was a good acting moment
- 37:24Speaker 2: for you as well. You were kind of curled up
- 37:26Speaker 2: and and you had a blanket over you, and you
- 37:28Speaker 2: were you were vulnerable because you were you were catching feelings,
- 37:31Speaker 2: as they say.
- 37:32Speaker 1: But when when he said let's shake do you know,
- 37:35Speaker 1: shake it up? And she says, so you want me
- 37:36Speaker 1: to shake it up? That's when it was like oh shit,
- 37:39Speaker 1: what has he done? He has no idea, He has
- 37:42Speaker 1: no idea what he just did.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I like too, Donald. I liked a scene
- 37:46Speaker 3: with Sarah and Krista that Donald just pointed out because
- 37:49Speaker 3: it's it's cool when a writer that something happens serendipitously
- 37:53Speaker 3: that you didn't mean to set it up. But we
- 37:55Speaker 3: had done all these booty calls, and then we had
- 37:58Speaker 3: Jordan's say sex is for making babies and revenge and
- 38:02Speaker 3: that's it, and then Sarah. Then Sarah says, I don't
- 38:06Speaker 3: think you're getting a lot of revenge on doctor Cox
- 38:09Speaker 3: by showing up and servicing him, you know, while he
- 38:11Speaker 3: watches SportsCenter.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yeah you know what I mean.
- 38:15Speaker 3: And to me, I had forgotten it, and your face
- 38:18Speaker 3: did it too. I'm like, oh shit, she likes him,
- 38:22Speaker 3: stinger fun.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Let's take a break.
- 38:25Speaker 2: We'll be right back after these fine words. Now, sorry
- 38:35Speaker 2: to jump to the Todd for a second, just because
- 38:37Speaker 2: he's we've been talking. Donald and I have really been
- 38:39Speaker 2: going back you guys and laughing and acknowledging that everything
- 38:43Speaker 2: that Rob Maschio says is funny. And we're constantly being like,
- 38:47Speaker 2: you know, we teased him a lot while we were
- 38:49Speaker 2: shooting the show, and uh, and now when we go
- 38:52Speaker 2: back and we watch the episodes, like every single thing
- 38:55Speaker 2: he does makes us laugh, including in this episode. He
- 38:57Speaker 2: has a lot of funny stuff when you when you,
- 38:59Speaker 2: when you, when you're asking doctor Wen, when you and
- 39:02Speaker 2: Carl are asking doctor Wen for help, and he's in
- 39:04Speaker 2: the background like doing all this stupid stuff.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and I smacked the glass on his face.
- 39:10Speaker 2: And he's like, it didn't hurt.
- 39:11Speaker 1: It didn't hurt.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Also, I think he I think he speaks like monosyllabically.
- 39:21Speaker 3: What the Todd did bad? Still referring to himself in
- 39:27Speaker 3: the third person, and Turk very upset with him.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Todd did bad. As a matter of fact, the Todd
- 39:32Speaker 1: did very, very bad, very bad.
- 39:35Speaker 5: But do you know what Bill I noticed in this
- 39:37Speaker 5: show there are a thousand one line funny funny jokes
- 39:44Speaker 5: through the whole. Everyone has these hysterical one liners that ever.
- 39:48Speaker 5: I was trying to write them down and there were
- 39:50Speaker 5: too many, Like everyone has a funny thing to say.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Aloma has the best one to me, you didn't hear that,
- 39:57Speaker 1: you didn't hear you didn't hear no, but.
- 39:59Speaker 7: G this dude, Jesus.
- 40:02Speaker 1: And then she sings, and then she sings the song
- 40:05Speaker 1: from Uh, the opening from White Man Can't Jump just
- 40:08Speaker 1: too Bufjesus Sanity.
- 40:15Speaker 3: I also love that because I don't think we had
- 40:17Speaker 3: any song chosen and just it's one of the most
- 40:20Speaker 3: fun things for me, you know, on the show, or
- 40:22Speaker 3: the amount of stuff that were left into the hands
- 40:24Speaker 3: of the actors and actresses. So I know, she just
- 40:26Speaker 3: picked that and started singing it, which was fantastic.
- 40:28Speaker 2: I believe Aloma was a religious woman, right, yeah, we did,
- 40:32Speaker 2: we did.
- 40:33Speaker 3: We did bet that at some point, but I can't
- 40:35Speaker 3: I know, we wanted her to be from the start,
- 40:37Speaker 3: you know.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I know the character was, but I think that as
- 40:40Speaker 2: I recall Aloma right is was so maybe she knew
- 40:44Speaker 2: that from church or something.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I don't know. You gotta have her on the show,
- 40:48Speaker 1: by the way, you want to have her on her
- 40:50Speaker 1: showIn we want to have on our show. We've discussed
- 40:56Speaker 1: already bringing her in the second season.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Yeah, she's a low way man. She's fun too. I
- 41:00Speaker 3: forgot what a big presence she was.
- 41:01Speaker 2: We're gonna have rob on and and Uh, by the way,
- 41:04Speaker 2: it's funny.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Bill.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember you sent out a mass
- 41:06Speaker 2: email to the whole cast about doing some event, and
- 41:10Speaker 2: everyone was like, I'm down. I'm down and down, and
- 41:12Speaker 2: then Ken Jenkins was like, oh, good to hear from you.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I'm I'm moving way too busy, and I was like
- 41:18Speaker 2: and I was like, oh man, we were going to
- 41:19Speaker 2: ask him to come on the podcast. But I'm a
- 41:21Speaker 2: little nervous now that Ken's gonna blow us off and
- 41:23Speaker 2: it won't in my heart won't be able to handle it.
- 41:25Speaker 3: The thing that's going to make me happiest is when
- 41:27Speaker 3: you ask him to do it next year and he's
- 41:29Speaker 3: still miraculously moving. I'm moving, but.
- 41:38Speaker 1: It's a bad time I'm moving.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I know Ken, You're still moving. It's a long move.
- 41:43Speaker 1: It's a long move. Yeah.
- 41:44Speaker 2: We want to have Rob on. Who else do we
- 41:46Speaker 2: have on Aloma? I want to have We were talking
- 41:49Speaker 2: about having all the stand ins on and like a
- 41:51Speaker 2: group one.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Deonta's like Deonta. Deontay said to me the other day,
- 41:55Speaker 1: he was like, listen, when you guys get to the
- 41:57Speaker 1: one with the chimps and they're all dressed up as doctors,
- 42:01Speaker 1: you got it. I'll call in or whatever it is,
- 42:04Speaker 1: because I've got a great story. For that moment and
- 42:07Speaker 1: he told me the story and it is amazing.
- 42:09Speaker 3: So well, oh, don't don't, don't take it from him.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I'm not gonna take it from him.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I'm gonna wait because you got to do that. And
- 42:14Speaker 3: then you also, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that
- 42:18Speaker 3: Deontaey I see him a lot when people do the
- 42:21Speaker 3: clip of Neil Flynn saying his actual name, and then
- 42:25Speaker 3: Deontay I think, walks by and goes hey, Tony right
- 42:27Speaker 3: at the at the end of it. So he's the
- 42:29Speaker 3: reason that people don't believe that the janitor is Gwnn Matthews.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Oh really really yes.
- 42:35Speaker 1: So Gwenn Matthews is his real name.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Gwen Matthews is his real name.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Only you heard it right from Bill's mouth, guys, Glenn
- 42:41Speaker 2: Matthews is his real name. He just he just lied
- 42:44Speaker 2: to to Deanty's character and said he was Tony.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Yes, And we decided his name was Gwen Matthews because
- 42:49Speaker 3: he was the janitor on Clone High and introduced himself
- 42:52Speaker 3: as Glenn.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Ah, No, we had we had nelon I don't know
- 42:58Speaker 2: if you I did. It was hilarious and we really
- 43:01Speaker 2: kind of stumbled into a really good TV show, Bill
- 43:04Speaker 2: that we'd love you.
- 43:05Speaker 1: To dose about idea. It's a great idea.
- 43:09Speaker 3: And by the way, I will never waiver Bill.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Bill, Bill, you don't want you don't want one of
- 43:14Speaker 2: your fellow fancy showrunners to steal Space Janitor. We're giving
- 43:17Speaker 2: it to you. Bill. Don't say I never gave you
- 43:22Speaker 2: anything as a president. You're getting, you're getting, You're getting
- 43:25Speaker 2: the rough treatment for Space Janitor.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's a multi camera in front of a couch Bill
- 43:29Speaker 1: in space, How can.
- 43:31Speaker 3: You Space Janitor? And then another one I was getting
- 43:35Speaker 3: hit up about, uh, Sam Lloyd rips the Janitor and
- 43:39Speaker 3: Sam is a legal.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great one.
- 43:44Speaker 2: I also like we stumbled into a thing and that
- 43:46Speaker 2: Neil episode. By the way, Neil's talking about how he's
- 43:48Speaker 2: finally developing something on his own because he's always been
- 43:51Speaker 2: in other people's stuff and he's now collaborating with someone
- 43:53Speaker 2: developing something and I just sitting riffing jokes with him
- 43:56Speaker 2: for an hour and a half. With Donald, I was like,
- 43:58Speaker 2: I feel like we could come up with ten shows
- 44:00Speaker 2: because he's so quick witted. The other one we stumbled
- 44:02Speaker 2: into was a classic multi caamp sitcom, but it's a Castle,
- 44:06Speaker 2: and it takes place with with roy with old school
- 44:08Speaker 2: like medieval royals. So you just do like classic multi
- 44:14Speaker 2: caam sitcom jokes, but they're like in it's like medieval times.
- 44:19Speaker 3: The Game of Thrones.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yes, it's a Game of Thrones. It's Game of Thrones,
- 44:23Speaker 2: but it's a sitcom. I'm in, Bill, I'm in. I'll
- 44:26Speaker 2: do as I'll do eight to ten.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I still want to see you guys in some kind
- 44:33Speaker 3: of spies like us, you know, I know, weapon, some
- 44:38Speaker 3: kind of version of that.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I said we were talking when we had Scott folly
- 44:41Speaker 2: on how how we really need you to pull a
- 44:43Speaker 2: jj Abrams and start directing giant tentpole movies because what's
- 44:47Speaker 2: his name, Greg Grunberg.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I heard that one of you guys.
- 44:51Speaker 2: He's in all these Star Wars movies. Man, we need
- 44:53Speaker 2: you to direct your big tempole movies so Donald and
- 44:55Speaker 2: I can be in it and christ By the.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Way, my wife just said, yeah, Bill is this is
- 45:02Speaker 3: this is the reality of my wife. My wife should
- 45:05Speaker 3: be somebody that would be in all of my shows,
- 45:08Speaker 3: and yet she's only in the ones that she picks
- 45:12Speaker 3: as that she deems worthy of her time and effort.
- 45:15Speaker 3: So much so that I will occasionally and she'll remain nameless.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Go there's a really thing. It would be really helpful,
- 45:21Speaker 3: you know if you did this part in this little thing,
- 45:23Speaker 3: and she's going, has the script changed and all since
- 45:26Speaker 3: the last time I read it, And I'm like, no,
- 45:31Speaker 3: why you're still no, but you're still my wife. I
- 45:35Speaker 3: feel like she's like pass.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Billy. I would always do that, Like the first draft
- 45:41Speaker 2: of Christa's lines in the show would be would be good,
- 45:44Speaker 2: to be funny, and then like on the day she'd
- 45:46Speaker 2: show up like with Bill and like they had both
- 45:49Speaker 2: just been working together, and Christy would have like a
- 45:52Speaker 2: whole new pass. It was like a pass. She had
- 45:57Speaker 2: the ability that we didn't to go Bill up.
- 46:01Speaker 3: My wife was on the show Cougar Town, and I'm
- 46:05Speaker 3: always telling this story. We'll get back to this show,
- 46:07Speaker 3: one of my favorite things. I always stayed on that
- 46:08Speaker 3: show for three of its six years, and I went
- 46:12Speaker 3: and did other stuff, and I remember telling Christa, I'm like, look,
- 46:17Speaker 3: you know there's other shows I want to do. There'll
- 46:18Speaker 3: be different showrunners and all that other stuff, but I
- 46:21Speaker 3: love you, and she's like, oh, she took it so
- 46:24Speaker 3: well that I was like oh wow, that went better
- 46:25Speaker 3: than I thought. And then the next year, like with
- 46:28Speaker 3: their first episode, I was working on a different show.
- 46:31Speaker 3: When I came home, there was a script on my
- 46:33Speaker 3: pillow with her lines highlighted, and just like she had
- 46:36Speaker 3: been she had just written things like change, beat, punch up, nange, Nope.
- 46:44Speaker 7: Bill had told me.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Bill.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Bill said to me, you know, I'm only going to
- 46:48Speaker 5: run it, you know, these three years, and then it's
- 46:50Speaker 5: going to go. I just want you to know that
- 46:52Speaker 5: going in. I'm like, no problem, got it, no problem.
- 46:55Speaker 5: And then it was really the week you left.
- 47:00Speaker 7: Ye.
- 47:00Speaker 3: It was immediately like you're like, this works for me
- 47:02Speaker 3: fine because you'll still do whatever I want you to do,
- 47:05Speaker 3: which is how our life works.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I love it. I would watch this shit out of
- 47:09Speaker 2: this sitcom, The Real Life Adventures of Bill and Christa.
- 47:14Speaker 3: I really liked. I don't know why it made me
- 47:17Speaker 3: so happy. And take it back to the episode of You, Donald, You,
- 47:21Speaker 3: Zach and Sarah all coming in on that first day
- 47:25Speaker 3: being because it made me it felt real because I
- 47:27Speaker 3: know it was the last one we shot, and I
- 47:29Speaker 3: got nostalgic because you were like, can you believe it's
- 47:31Speaker 3: our last day? You know what? I mean, and it
- 47:33Speaker 3: felt very last day of school, and I looked at that.
- 47:38Speaker 3: I watched these shows with an odd combination of pride
- 47:43Speaker 3: nostalgia and then you know they're old. Being a writer
- 47:46Speaker 3: that goes, oh, man, I wish we had done that differently,
- 47:49Speaker 3: or I wish that was I'd fix that or whatever. But
- 47:51Speaker 3: that moment specifically made me remember what a gift it
- 47:57Speaker 3: was to have you guys all there and be so
- 47:59Speaker 3: tight and lovely and fun to hang out with in
- 48:01Speaker 3: real life. Just made me happy.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember feeling I remember feeling excited because I
- 48:10Speaker 1: think we all knew how well the show was doing
- 48:13Speaker 1: at the time, and we made it to the last episode.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It was the twenty third episode of the season. Did
- 48:19Speaker 1: we do twenty four the ID twenty four the first
- 48:21Speaker 1: year four? Yeah, yeah, we did twenty four. Well, we
- 48:24Speaker 1: did twenty three episodes that year, not including the pilot,
- 48:28Speaker 1: and I remember being like, holy cow, were a hit.
- 48:32Speaker 1: A lot of things in my life are changing now,
- 48:35Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I can't believe it. As
- 48:38Speaker 1: an actor, I did it. I fucking did it. All
- 48:40Speaker 1: my friends from home, you know, we're watching my television
- 48:44Speaker 1: show like it was the Cosby show, you know what
- 48:46Speaker 1: I mean, Like it was a different world or whatever
- 48:49Speaker 1: it was, you know what I mean. We came on
- 48:50Speaker 1: after Frasier, you know what I mean. Everything was really
- 48:54Speaker 1: awesome at that moment. And so when we when I
- 48:57Speaker 1: watched the scene, I remember feeling great about it. But
- 48:59Speaker 1: when I watch the scene, I had the biggest smile
- 49:01Speaker 1: on my face. And it's the opening of the show too,
- 49:04Speaker 1: and you know what I mean. But I had such
- 49:06Speaker 1: a huge smile on my face because you know, I
- 49:09Speaker 1: remember the feeling of it's a success. I'm a part
- 49:13Speaker 1: of something successful. I'm a part of something that people
- 49:16Speaker 1: really like, and I really enjoy the people that I
- 49:18Speaker 1: work with. And yeah, so you know.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we were I agreed, nown we were being genuine.
- 49:23Speaker 2: That moment is the three of us as close friends,
- 49:27Speaker 2: hugging and being like, holy shit, this happened. We just
- 49:31Speaker 2: did twenty four episodes of a show that's popular, and
- 49:34Speaker 2: you know, there was there was There didn't need to
- 49:36Speaker 2: be much acting. There that was that was that was
- 49:38Speaker 2: very meta, very genuine.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Well that's what I got out of this man, the
- 49:41Speaker 3: gift of it. There's two things I wrote down. Was
- 49:44Speaker 3: one like how great Christ it was to have see
- 49:47Speaker 3: you in it, because not only are you my wife,
- 49:49Speaker 3: but you're so good, you know, and so funny and
- 49:53Speaker 3: vulnerable and such a badass in this I love that.
- 49:57Speaker 3: And then the one thing I wanted to say too
- 49:58Speaker 3: is my only other thing I did to reference with
- 49:59Speaker 3: you guys. You know, so there's weird parts of the narrative,
- 50:03Speaker 3: like how you guys keep trying to disprove that Neil
- 50:05Speaker 3: was a figment of the imagination and you'll never ever
- 50:08Speaker 3: bend me. He was figurative. He didn't talk to anybody.
- 50:11Speaker 3: I don't care what you think you saw. But like
- 50:15Speaker 3: one of the other narratives which was so interesting was
- 50:19Speaker 3: you know how Judy and I, you know, she would
- 50:22Speaker 3: always come in at the beginning of seasons and go
- 50:24Speaker 3: I can be you know, funnier and goofier, and I
- 50:28Speaker 3: would always be like, you're the you know, emotional backbone
- 50:30Speaker 3: of the whole show. And this was one of those
- 50:34Speaker 3: episodes that we earned. It was it's never one or
- 50:36Speaker 3: the other, like you already talked about it when Donald
- 50:40Speaker 3: is pulling Zach over to him when they were fighting
- 50:43Speaker 3: in real life. You know, one of my favorite things
- 50:45Speaker 3: is Judy's in the background and going you got him, baby,
- 50:48Speaker 3: you know what I mean, and immediately it which made
- 50:50Speaker 3: me laugh. But then what we wanted to do in
- 50:53Speaker 3: the show was a moment. Do you remember when you
- 50:56Speaker 3: two and Sarah, even though he had been your patient
- 50:58Speaker 3: for the entire episode, one of you knew what mister
- 51:01Speaker 3: Bober looked like. And then of course you hear Karla's
- 51:05Speaker 3: voice and she says, he's over here, and she knows
- 51:09Speaker 3: that none of you know him, and she's chastising you
- 51:13Speaker 3: without being judgmental. And she was the only character on
- 51:17Speaker 3: our show that could do that. You know, doctor Cox
- 51:19Speaker 3: to do that moment would yell at you and rub
- 51:20Speaker 3: your faces in it. Kelso could never do it, and
- 51:23Speaker 3: you three it was so weird because you three were
- 51:25Speaker 3: all kids to her still grown up, you know what
- 51:27Speaker 3: I mean.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's a good example too. I mean,
- 51:30Speaker 2: obviously we're doing it about the medical profession, but I
- 51:33Speaker 2: think everyone can relate to just getting used to something
- 51:37Speaker 2: and getting sort of cold to it. And again it
- 51:40Speaker 2: gets meta for the show too, because Donald and I
- 51:42Speaker 2: can attest that then we got used to it. We
- 51:45Speaker 2: were on a popular show and we had this awesome job,
- 51:47Speaker 2: and you know it wasn't until it's over in this
- 51:50Speaker 2: many years back, we look back and go, oh my god,
- 51:52Speaker 2: not only did we have a great job that we
- 51:53Speaker 2: all love, but we were all so close, so we
- 51:55Speaker 2: all got along so well.
- 51:56Speaker 6: And no, because you know what things become to your
- 51:58Speaker 6: new normal.
- 52:00Speaker 5: Yes, so it becomes your new normal that you don't
- 52:03Speaker 5: treat patients the same way.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I always call it in writing because I'm never present
- 52:09Speaker 3: enough and I'm trying to be more now is we
- 52:13Speaker 3: used to call it a don't know how good you
- 52:14Speaker 3: got it? Disease?
- 52:15Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 52:16Speaker 3: Because then then we're all off doing other jobs and
- 52:20Speaker 3: other shows and remembering how great those experiences were and
- 52:24Speaker 3: not saying that we didn't all enjoy them. But in
- 52:27Speaker 3: the moment, I was never walk around going, hey, I
- 52:29Speaker 3: don't know if I'm ever gonna work on a show
- 52:31Speaker 3: that I'm proud of with these people I love and
- 52:34Speaker 3: would want to spend time with forever and stuff again,
- 52:37Speaker 3: So I should suck in every moment. You know what
- 52:38Speaker 3: I mean?
- 52:39Speaker 2: Do you? You've worked on nine zillion shows since Scrubs?
- 52:42Speaker 2: Is there has there been another? We'll exclude Cougartown because
- 52:46Speaker 2: your wife was on it has there been another that
- 52:48Speaker 2: you that you feel that you had anywhere near us
- 52:53Speaker 2: close to as much fun on.
- 52:56Speaker 3: The only thing that is close, to tell you the
- 52:59Speaker 3: truth was Spin City, because this way you guys were
- 53:01Speaker 3: talking was my first experience and it had this very
- 53:04Speaker 3: weird thing that we can all hope for, which is
- 53:07Speaker 3: somebody that is a idol of yours growing up turns
- 53:10Speaker 3: out to be exactly as cool as you would want
- 53:13Speaker 3: them to be in real life, you know. And that's
- 53:15Speaker 3: who Mike Fox was, and so to grow up watching
- 53:17Speaker 3: his shows and his movies and then he's respectful to
- 53:20Speaker 3: me and kind and great and so that was fun.
- 53:24Speaker 3: But I didn't leave there with lifelong friends the way
- 53:27Speaker 3: I am with you Donald, you know, Judy, Sarah and
- 53:30Speaker 3: Neil and by the way, and John and Ken told
- 53:33Speaker 3: me not to say this when he was doing my podcast,
- 53:35Speaker 3: but Ken Jenkins.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Too, By the way, did you did you go out
- 53:39Speaker 2: in the city with Michael J.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Fox?
- 53:41Speaker 3: No, he was when that show started. He was already sick.
- 53:45Speaker 3: And one of the you know, one of the first
- 53:47Speaker 3: things that you know, when I started that show, we
- 53:50Speaker 3: were taking aside and Mike and Gary said, look, Mike's
- 53:53Speaker 3: going to do one hundred episodes in four years because
- 53:56Speaker 3: he's sick and we have to do some production things
- 53:57Speaker 3: around it.
- 53:58Speaker 2: And that early yeah, and.
- 54:02Speaker 3: Uh, but still got to, you know, with the concerts
- 54:05Speaker 3: and dinners and blah blah, had some fun with him
- 54:07Speaker 3: and stuff.
- 54:07Speaker 2: I was just thinking how cool I would feel walking
- 54:09Speaker 2: into a bar with Michael J. Fox. I would just
- 54:11Speaker 2: I'd be strutting like Donald and I in that in
- 54:12Speaker 2: that in that fantasy where we're strutting down the hall.
- 54:16Speaker 2: I'd have a pimp coat on.
- 54:17Speaker 3: For some reason, I love that you guys did that again.
- 54:20Speaker 3: But you changed outfits right because.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Because at that time I had gotten it was in
- 54:24Speaker 2: really good shape. So I'm like, I'm the shirtless one
- 54:26Speaker 2: this time.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Well, I take, by the way, that's what friendship brings
- 54:30Speaker 3: to a show. And and Christa, this is you too.
- 54:34Speaker 3: The amount of stuff that you guys were generous enough,
- 54:37Speaker 3: and Christa Jenner from that you would actually say, are
- 54:39Speaker 3: doing real life names you would call each other, dynamics,
- 54:43Speaker 3: et cetera. That made their way into the show, and
- 54:45Speaker 3: the lexicon could only happen because of how close everybody was.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Of course, and by the way, you could still be
- 54:50Speaker 2: writing it because if if this show was in the
- 54:52Speaker 2: modern era, Judy would be the one who slid into
- 54:55Speaker 2: my DMS and be like, why did you post that
- 54:56Speaker 2: picture at Turk looking fat?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Hey, I don't want to I don't want to speak
- 55:02Speaker 1: out of turn here, So if I'm wrong, we could
- 55:03Speaker 1: cut this out and everything. But Bill, didn't you write
- 55:06Speaker 1: on Friends the first season?
- 55:08Speaker 3: I did write on Friends the first season. Somebody got
- 55:12Speaker 3: fired and so I meme in. It was me at
- 55:17Speaker 3: the end, but at the beginning, at the beginning, I
- 55:20Speaker 3: came in and got to write on that show. And
- 55:22Speaker 3: it was such a joke heavy show and some amazing
- 55:25Speaker 3: talented joke writers, the main one being David Crane, who
- 55:28Speaker 3: created that show went on to create episodes, and he's
- 55:32Speaker 3: just such a good just a good writer. And I
- 55:35Speaker 3: got to know Matthew Perry a little bit, mostly because
- 55:38Speaker 3: someone made the joke that at different points in time
- 55:40Speaker 3: I looked like Matthew's fatter older brother, skinnier younger brother,
- 55:45Speaker 3: fatter younger brother, and then skinnier older brother, all depending
- 55:49Speaker 3: on the two of them. Christa, by the way, here's
- 55:51Speaker 3: the worst story about Matthew Perry. Wise relevant. Tell them
- 55:54Speaker 3: how I tricked you, and how it became a huge
- 55:57Speaker 3: issue in our life when Matthew Perry directed scrubs so inappropriate.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Sounds really good.
- 56:07Speaker 6: Want to hear that is not going to be told?
- 56:10Speaker 2: Okay, well better it is better that it won't be.
- 56:15Speaker 2: My imagination is way probably more twisted than it was.
- 56:18Speaker 7: I'll tell I'll tell a version of it.
- 56:20Speaker 6: So I was friends with Matthew Perry.
- 56:23Speaker 5: We were on the same lot, but I was friends
- 56:25Speaker 5: with him before we got friends and before I started
- 56:27Speaker 5: doing Drew Carrey, and we always used to play. We
- 56:30Speaker 5: used to hang out all the time, and we used
- 56:32Speaker 5: to play paddle tests together. I loved Maddie and we
- 56:35Speaker 5: were always friends. I actually dated a friend of his.
- 56:38Speaker 1: I did.
- 56:39Speaker 5: Matthew and I were always good friends, and we play
- 56:42Speaker 5: softball together, et cetera. So Bill, the whole time since
- 56:47Speaker 5: we started dating from a weekend, said are you Did
- 56:51Speaker 5: you ever fool around with Matthew Perry? And I said no,
- 56:54Speaker 5: we were just friends. And he goes, I can't imagine
- 56:56Speaker 5: that that you were just friends, because you know, I.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Didn't being friends with him for six years and different
- 57:03Speaker 3: times been single on not once flown around.
- 57:05Speaker 6: So so I said, no, we were just friends. No no, no,
- 57:10Speaker 6: no no.
- 57:11Speaker 5: And then and then Bill would see us together and
- 57:14Speaker 5: you know, we were really good friends, and I would say, see,
- 57:16Speaker 5: we're really good friends.
- 57:17Speaker 6: He goes, I know, I still don't believe you at all.
- 57:21Speaker 5: And the week that Matthew Perry was directing Scrubs the
- 57:25Speaker 5: first morning, you.
- 57:26Speaker 7: Know I work with me, I yeah.
- 57:28Speaker 5: And I normally don't allow Bill to drive to work
- 57:31Speaker 5: to me because he wants to with me because he
- 57:33Speaker 5: talks all the time and I just like listening to Howard.
- 57:36Speaker 6: Stern, so he can't.
- 57:38Speaker 5: It keeps turning the volume down to chat about nonsense.
- 57:42Speaker 5: So I don't let him drive to work with me.
- 57:44Speaker 5: But I was first up, which you know, it was
- 57:46Speaker 5: early in the morning, and Bill said, do you think
- 57:49Speaker 5: it's going to feel awkward for matt Perry to direct
- 57:54Speaker 5: you since you guys fooled around? And I said, no,
- 57:57Speaker 5: it's gonna be fine.
- 58:00Speaker 3: I pulled the car over and went, yes, you know what,
- 58:08Speaker 3: you know what you know I did. I let it
- 58:09Speaker 3: sit for like a year before that, having not brought
- 58:11Speaker 3: it up, and then I went, super cash, that might
- 58:13Speaker 3: be fun today. I'd be weird with him directing. You said,
- 58:15Speaker 3: you guys fooled around. She's like, no, it's not a
- 58:17Speaker 3: big deal.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Yes, Oh my god, he built you did the long
- 58:25Speaker 2: play with.
- 58:26Speaker 5: That long play, and I really stuck to my guns
- 58:31Speaker 5: and it was such a little thing, but he got me.
- 58:35Speaker 6: It was too early in the morning.
- 58:37Speaker 3: Seven years of a Last.
- 58:39Speaker 7: Bill laughed the entire way for the rest.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Of the drive.
- 58:44Speaker 3: It made me so giddy. I was. I was just
- 58:46Speaker 3: going through all the lies in my head. It made
- 58:47Speaker 3: me so happy.
- 58:48Speaker 2: All Right, we have a fan waiting, and we're going
- 58:50Speaker 2: to go to break first. And then also when we're
- 58:52Speaker 2: done with the fan, I want you to tell the
- 58:53Speaker 2: story about Bill when you came across George Clooney leaning
- 58:58Speaker 2: against Christa's trailer.
- 59:00Speaker 3: I don't like that at all.
- 59:01Speaker 2: We'll be right back.
- 59:09Speaker 1: And we're back, and we're.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Back, and Joel is going to bring in Joel. Who
- 59:15Speaker 2: are our guests or guest singular, our guest plural today?
- 59:19Speaker 3: Emily?
- 59:20Speaker 1: Emily is in the ladies and gentlemen, give it up
- 59:27Speaker 1: for Emily. That's my best Oprah, are you wearing scrubs?
- 59:33Speaker 2: Emily only appears to have a deethoscope. Emily, can you
- 59:36Speaker 2: hear us?
- 59:36Speaker 1: Can you hear us?
- 59:38Speaker 2: But Dan has messed up again and we can't hear Emily.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Emily, can you hear us?
- 59:44Speaker 2: If you need anyone for your mediocre mixing services.
- 59:47Speaker 1: I recommend stop it.
- 59:49Speaker 2: I'm dpinning. I stop Daniel. I love Daniel.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Dan, You're the best. I'm not even singing the song
- 59:55Speaker 1: for me. You're the best. No, you want to give a.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Shout out if you if you're starting a podcast and
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: would like to only be able to hear some of
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: your guests. I can't recommend enough connecting's connecting on Daniel's laughing.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Joelle is just shaking her head judgmentally at danis it
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: makes me happy?
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: In the meantime, Bill, have you ever seen the air
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: fresh Year that somebody made of me?
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, what does it smell like?
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: It smells like apple Teeni's yes.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I would like to talk about the fear Factor conversation
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: because we mentioned fear Factor on this show, and at
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: some point in record and filming Scrubs, we developed Scrubs
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Factor and we had a bunch of you know, and
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: and anyone could be a part of Scrubs Factor as
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: long as you were on in the Scrubs cast or crew.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: And I remember someone eating hot sauce off of another
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: person's foot after Franklin after a full day of work.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Oh yep, and I remember another one was eating pigs feet.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Yeah, pigs feet.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Got a whole jar of pickled pigs feet and okay,
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: coming to them. By the way, Randall would have rounded
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: up anywhere from two to five hundred bucks, you know,
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: so it would be quick cash.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Listen, I'm gonna tell you something right now. As
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: an as an African American man, that shit wasn't hard.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Scott Harris, Scott Harris was the one that did that.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Who was another African American male.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Yes, Scott Scott went for the pigs feet and and
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: won the cash.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Yeah he would. He got the cash, and everybody's like,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: eat the pigs feet and let me tell you something
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: right now, what that ain't ship. So he's just thinking
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: in the world.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: So you in your childhood, when you were growing up,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: you would you would eat pickled pigs feet.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: No, so all right, so listen, this is where soul
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: food came from, all right, little education. When slavery was happening, Uh,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: the slaves weren't given the choice meat, so it was
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: it you wouldn't get the the loin or the or
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: anything like that. You'd get the intestines and that's where uh,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: that's where chitlins comes from. And you didn't get the
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: you wouldn't get the meaty part, so you would get
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: the hooks and the feet and everything like that. So
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: that became soul food later on.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: So what you're saying is that Scott Harris hustled us.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: He acted like it was a big deal.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I'm saying he acted like it was gross, and they
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: wolfed him down right.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: And then afterwards he came up to me, he was like, man,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: that wasn't ship. That was.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: On the other hand, on the other hand, by the way,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: there's nobody that can get me near Franklin god Better's
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: toe way hot sauce on it. They had to suck
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: the hot sauce off the big toe after a day
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: of work.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: So after a day of work.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Another one was wasn't there something about spending an hour
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: inside a closed Morgan drawer?
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: It was a night you had to go. You had
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: to sleep at night in a closed More drawer. And
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: no one ever took that up.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: That was there was That's a pretty advanced one.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: What about the young intern He became a pop barazzi
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: now and I uh, I believe.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: He paparazzo Donald Paparo. The singular is paparazzo.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Thank you. He became a paparazzo and I believe now
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: it's a downer. He has a brain tumor. But he
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: was one of our interns and paint his face with
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: like marker or something like that and had to keep.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: It on for I can't I can't remember that. I
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: can't remember that person, and now I feel sad.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, he's sure this was Scrubs. It might have
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: been homiees Pimoni.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: It was definitely Scrubbs. I forget the young man's name,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: but I remember it was.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: Like face he had to do face painting for the
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: day and something and keep it.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: No, it wasn't even faces paint. It was like sharpie.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: He had to he had to put sharpie on his
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: face and he did it, and he had it on
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: for like a week or something like that. It was
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: something ridiculous.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Let's get back to the episode for or second and.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Then last one, and then last one. Mike Schwartz trying
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: to eat twelve Krispy Creme donuts and failing.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Bill like get hug from doctor Cox at three minutes
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: into the episode. Granted it was a sarcastic hug.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: It's a sarcastic one.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: I wanted to point out that even Scrubs Wiki mentions
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: that JD does get a doctor Cox hug in the
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: season finale, we felt it.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: Never counted and we went back to it because it
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: was sarcastic almost immediately the.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Other also left. I laughed out loud when I go careful, tiger,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: I wish people would call me tiger.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Awesome? Were those Johnny C's shades we please?
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: We always talk about Johnny and I want to I
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: want to tiptoe around these Oakley's because Johnny C listens
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: to this podcast while he works out, and I don't
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: want him throwing the waist down on the ground.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Just to just to hold on, just to just to
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: start it off. John you are ripped in this episode. Yes,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: let's let's first of all, let me just say, I
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: don't know how old we were. You in your forties
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: when we started this, in your thirties when we started
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: whatever it is, it's working dog, and I wish at
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: right now, at forty six, I look like you did
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: in this episode of Scrubs. Holy cow, dude, you are
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: ripped that being said was off with them glasses?
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: All right, I'm not gonna say anything, but I can't
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: imagine a scenario that A. I said, let's not shoot
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: this scene until we get those glasses that I saw
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: a dude wearing on the beach in Santa Mona or
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: b that our wardrobe and props people laid out those
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: is one of the choices for his sunglasses.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: But for having them, those are definite Johnny's. We discussed
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: them before. I think they were his go to Oakley's
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: back in the day.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: But why orange dude, why are.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: They along on a guy on a jet ski? That's
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: all I know.
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: Well, they look like my mountain biking glasses. Yes, they're
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: not for for regular wearing around.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Here's in sunglasses that you wear when you're driving to
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: make it so that you can see the road better.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Bloot blockers. Those are blockers.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: I laughed out loud twelve thirty three. When I invited
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: him at dinner, he goes yeah, and then he goes
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: he goes together. I thought this was going to be
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: like a gift certificate. Oh whoa oh, I said, can
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: I buy you? I go, I go, can I buy
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: you dinner? And he goes sure, I go really and
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: he was, oh, you mean together?
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: He goes, yeah, absolutely, and you go, that's great cause
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I get off from like five minutes. I can't. He's like, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: I thought this was a gift certificate type situation. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: That's pretty funny. And he thought that I was going
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: to be like, here's a God individion for you to
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: have dinner or you.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Or you could just you can just tell me where
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: you want to eat and I'll pick it up and
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: have it dropped off.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Now, let's talk about Colin hay for a second, because
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Colin Hayes first time being played on the episode on
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: the show was here.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Ma, ma, ma, It's a beautiful world.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: Beautiful song, beautiful world. And then he's actually in the
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: season two premiere bill did how did Colin hay come about?
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Was it through christ huge huge huge?
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: I got to speak for a second before Christa and
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: then she has to talk, which is not enough shout
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: outs for my wife, Zach, you were involved and Neil
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: was involved, but my wife on the show for what
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: it's worth. Yeah, no, I know, but I mean I
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: have it. My wife is always been such a key
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: person in me and picking music for my shows and
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: having a taste in it that kind of defines tonally
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: what the show is. And she had taken me to
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: see Colin Hay a bunch at Largo even before our
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: show came out. Go ahead, Christ, I'm sorry, interrupted.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Yeah, So we had we had seen him at Largo,
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: and I loved him and I knew that he was
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: His music was absolutely the right tone for Scrubs, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: so we used a few of Colin's songs on the show.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: Him And then did you know he could act? Because
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: I think he had. He had been on the Larry
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: Sanders Show, right, Bill, I mean, how did you did
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: you know the idea to put him in the episode?
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: If you it's again it's Krista. But if you have
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: a chance to see Colin at Largo, it was, you know,
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: half music and half him going going, I sold out
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: Wembley Stadium with a bunch of dudes, and now I'm
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: playing here for forty five of you, you know, and
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: then just making jokes at his own expense. And I
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: remember he used to say. All my old mates said
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: I should move to Australia, open a bar called the
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: down Under in Sydney, come out every Saturday at midnight
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: and play that song and I'd be a billionaire, which
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: is probably true, you know what I mean? And then
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: he'd just tell jokes and stories about that time of
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: the show is so funny.
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: Do you want to hear what else is funny about
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: Colin Hey? So, my uncle for two years used to
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: produce Satura Night Live, and I used to go in
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: high school to watch the musical acts like six o'clock
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: on a Saturday. And then Colin hay Meant at work
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: played Saturday Night Live, and then we hung out with
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: him afterwards. He was a perfect gentleman, wasn't he like that?
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: But we all hung out with him afterwards. And then
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: when he did the show, he said to me, your
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: uncle gave me a chance and was so kind to
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: me on Saturday Night Live, and it kind of came
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: full circle and he was excited to see me again,
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: and that's cool.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: That's cool. I was going to see him at years
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: of you.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I went with you dude.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: Are those of who don't know Largo is a small,
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: very small music venue. Since changed, they probably made it bigger,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: but back in the day when we were going, I
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: don't know, it would hold maybe one.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Hundred people, yeah, I think less than that.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Yeah, if that, maybe less than that or maybe sixty.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: And it was a bar and they served food and
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: lots of comedians would would would be there and musicians
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: would be there, and it was a really cool community.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: And I hadn't heard Colin since he was in Men
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: at work when I was a kid. And then he
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: and we just play his songs acoustically, just him and
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: a guitar, and it was so beautiful because his voice
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: is so incredible, and he would do some covers of
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Minute Works songs and then he would do a lot
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: of his his own songs, his new songs, like Beautiful
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: World that's in this episode. And I just don't think
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: I'll ever get over you, which I ended up putting
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: in Garden State, But I remember that he was very
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: funny in the episode, and I just, uh, I just
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: wondered where you got the idea to actually put him
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: physically in the show. But there it is from Largo.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: He has some good ones.
- 1:10:29Speaker 10: And then I just don't think I ever get over you.
- 1:10:35Speaker 10: I drink coffee every morning, comes from my place.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: By the way, in the history of your podcast, people
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: are gonna be like, when did it go downhill? And
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: they're gonna go when Zach and Donald decided just to
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: have it be them singing favorite songs of theirs everything.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: That's kind of what it is already. That's kind of
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: although I always duck out because Donald has such a sultry,
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: beautiful voice.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Such a good voice. Yeah, I gotta say, since we're
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: doing go ahead, Donald.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Sorry, I do love me some Colum hey though, man,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I just he's.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: Such a lovely man as well.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Yes, I didn't know if we're the show thing yet
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: that I can give my both positive and bone chilling
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: reaction to Donald already said. You know when doctor, when
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: Johnny c says, why don't you stir some things up?
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: When she comes to that table of all you happy
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: people at the end and decides to rip our show
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: apart for the next year, it gave me such glee
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: both to watch how it was performed and how it
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: affected every relationship, but also because you guys are also
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: close in many ways to your you know, your spirits
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: and your personas in real life. It gave me chills
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: because I've had I've been one of the people sitting
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: at that table before with my sons when my wife
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: comes in and says that, He's like, let me, let
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: me talk to you guys about the behavior yesterday when
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: you just get small and just immediately have the By
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: the way, I think Zach's voiceover says uh oh, but
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: the uh uh. I've had so many of those, and
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: it was so cool to watch you do it, my love.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: He was so good.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you did a great job without that monologue. Do
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: you remember did you work a lot on that or
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: did you just wing it? I mean, obviously I remember.
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: You know what you guys probably don't remember is that
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: that scene was shot on a Wednesday, and we did
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: Drew Carry on a Tuesday night, and for some reason
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: there was a mess up and I didn't get the script.
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: I was doing Drew Carrey late and I didn't get
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: the script for the what that monologue was till midnight,
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: and I.
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: Was so mad at Bill.
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: I was like, why didn't they deliver me the script early?
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: But it builds like it was out since seven, So
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: I was insane, And then so I had to learn
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: it and Drew went really late that night. I remember
- 1:12:48Speaker 5: being so annoyed, and I was first up, so I
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: had about five hours of sleep, and I didn't know
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: it that well, and I had only you know, I
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: was in the regular, so I'd only done one or
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: two episodes with you guys that season.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: No, this is like your fourth episode, so.
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: Fourth maybe not a lot though, And I came in.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: I had this monologue and you guys and I kept
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: messing up the lines and I started getting into a
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: shame spiral, and it was Donald.
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: You were like, you got this. You've already done it.
- 1:13:20Speaker 7: You got it.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: You were so kind to me. Donald, you probably don't remember.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: And I was like, you were like, take a deep breath,
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: you got it. You've done it already. You're just now
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: getting into your head.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I was just telling you all of the stuff that
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: they would tell me all year round.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: He was just regurgitating all the shit people had said
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: to him.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: By the way, you know what part of it was too,
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: my love is. I remember because you were working on
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: a show as a regular in which you had two
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: tries to get it start to finish, you know, because
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: it was multi caam and I remember all of us
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: trying to tell you, no, you've never done it the
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: way you want from the beginning to the end. But
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: you've done every part the way you want, you know
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: what I mean. And then we're gonna cut and you
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: really made you upset.
- 1:14:06Speaker 7: I remember that now, Yeah, But then we got it
- 1:14:08Speaker 7: in one take.
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: And then I also thought, this single camera is different,
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: like I had to do a different way of having
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: to learn things.
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: But I you know, And also it doesn't matter. I
- 1:14:19Speaker 6: realized when you get.
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: There, no one cares that you're working on another show
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: and you were up till one in the morning. Everyone
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: just expects you to know it and be great all
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: the time. And it was just a good It was
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: a good lesson for me, and I love Also that
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: monologue was so good.
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: I didn't want to mess it up.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: I think you did a great job. I think it's
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: a great way to It was a really clever way
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: to end the season too, Bill, because you know, you
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: can't you have to have some sort of cliffhanger. And
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: and the whole episode is that we're all working as
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: a team, and you've got this montage set to Colin
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Hey where we're all coming together and solving a problem.
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: It's like, you can't end a season like that. You've
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: got to You've got to blow it up and uh.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: And then I thought that was really clever, how you
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: had just Chris to just come in and just fucking destroy.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: Everybody, dismantle at all.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: My favorite part was that I wrote it down. Apparently
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: JD is very good in bed that had not been
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: disgusted yet. Oh boy, no, you know, because we didn't
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: see our love.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: Be careful, be very careful.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Boy. Listen, dude, you know how to make it uncomfortable characters.
- 1:15:20Speaker 7: It was so good, that's.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: What you say.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: These guys at Krista, they've already done a thing of
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: joking around that. I like watching you kiss other people,
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: which I do not. I don't know. Don't make by
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: the way, don't make that expression. Even though people can't
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: see this, don't make the expression. Don't don't don't you
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: were By the way, I'm a second away from spreading
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: up there for a stop hugging big.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: You're not allowed out till five. You're not allowed until five.
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: True, that's a good point.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: I pictured there's like a bike lock on the outside
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: of the door, and Crystal unlocks it at four fifty nine.
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: You know what, also, but changing the subject that that
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: moment never happened. You can edit that out. I'm sure
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: it's gone. The uh I liked after you gave your speech,
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: And I haven't given enough props to Johnny C and Ken.
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: First of all, Johnny C's ability to make intense anger
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: seem immediately real. I found myself intimidated even and couldn't
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: imagine what it was like. You know, Donald, you and
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Zach had to do it all more than anybody to
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: act in the face of that fury. Yeah, I mean
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: when he oh, my goodness, it's so loud and so
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: not TV anger. That and I contrasted that to this
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: was the beginning of one of the things, you know,
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: when I say I watched the show and dislike stuff
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: and love other stuff. Ken Jenkins as a man was
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: so funny and not just the personified villain, you know,
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: And one of the first things that got us there
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: because he starts changing in the second year. He goes
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: to speak to Johnny C after that speech, and it
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: does the biggest car, the biggest cartoons spin around, and
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: it's so funny, and I'm like, oh, man, dude, is
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: funny and we should let him be human and quirky
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: and weird.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: I wish he'd come on the show. But he's always moving.
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: He's still moving.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: He's still moving while we didn't.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Maybe he didn't runt a truck and he's just just
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: doing it by hand.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: While we have you here, Bill, here's a question that
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: all of the fans are asking us, you know quite
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: a bit, and I know it has a lot to
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: do with schedule or anything like that, but if you
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: could ever see another incarnation of Scrubs, what would be
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: your dream or your if you had to do it,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: what would how would you like to see Scrubs revisited?
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: Wow?
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Didn't write to it?
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I love the characters so much. And I
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: think one of the things that we tried to do
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: on that show is it was an era in which
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: on the sitcoms I grew up with, everybody stayed the
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: exact same from episode one to episode two hundred, and
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: I like to feel that people grew and aged and matured,
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: and so, you know, like it's it's at one point,
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: by the way, Zach and Donald Christo were constantly pitching
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: me that maybe we should just go shoot Doctor Acula,
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: and which would, which would be fun. Admittedly, the two
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: of them making that movie and I think it'd be hilarious,
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: But man, I'd love to see who JD was as
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: an adult and a father, and who Donald, you know,
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: was with Judy and with their kids. And I just
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: would want to visit with these people again. That's why
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: I find the idea of doing a whole other series daunting,
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: But the idea of visiting with them and seeing where
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: their lives are at and seeing, you know, how they
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: react to medicine. I'll tell you the example for it
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: is real JD. Okay, not many will know this, but
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: the real JD was a young cardiologist when we started
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: the show. Then he became a heart surgeon and a cardiologist,
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: and then he became so beloved by the interns and residents.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: He became a huge teaching figure and ultimately the CEO
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: of the Kelso of the hospital. He runs the whole
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: hospital of Kaiser in Los Felis, and in fact is
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: running their COVID command center now. And the fact that
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: he has gone from the beginning to that very same
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: kind of patriarchal figure that you guys needed. I'd love
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: to see j D and Turk. Doing that for other
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: young people, I would hope that they'd still love medicine.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Emily is here, Emily here, it is working.
- 1:19:43Speaker 11: I am so so sorry.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Don't worry about Emily.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: It's not you, miss Emily.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Emily, Emily, Emily, I'm going to be honest with you. You
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: are worse than Sarah, but we are still very excited
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: about show.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Sarah had two tries and and mess them both up,
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: whereas Emily is just joining us for the first time.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Emily, Emily, you blew it. But it's okay. I'm gonna
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: give you the speech that Bill gave me. I need
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: you to come in here and bring the energy that
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: you were going to bring the first time.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: That is a callback. That's a callback to Donald's first audition.
- 1:20:21Speaker 11: Thank goodness.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: All right, go ahead, Emily. What's your question? You have
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: Bill Lawrence, you have Krista Miller, Donald Faison, and myself,
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: Zach Brae and.
- 1:20:30Speaker 12: I all right, so I had I didn't know that
- 1:20:35Speaker 12: Bill and Krista were going to be on originally, so
- 1:20:37Speaker 12: I changed my question a little bit.
- 1:20:39Speaker 11: Okay, And since I think you.
- 1:20:41Speaker 12: Guys are talking about the season finale, which talks about
- 1:20:46Speaker 12: like all the impact that the characters had.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I'm sorry to cut you off. I'm sorry to cut
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you off. I have to cut you off. I'm sorry.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: You have a stethoscope on? Is that a stethoscope?
- 1:20:56Speaker 11: Nope, this is my braid. But this is my name
- 1:20:59Speaker 11: badge with.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: Myll Okay, are you a doctor or are you I'm not.
- 1:21:03Speaker 11: I'm a EMT phlebottomist. Combo. I'm calling from the office
- 1:21:08Speaker 11: right now. I'm hiding in the break room.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: That's awesome. Thank you so much for all the stuff
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: you do.
- 1:21:13Speaker 11: I've got surgeries going on through the other door.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, that is amazing. First of all, thank
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: you very much.
- 1:21:21Speaker 11: Oh, thank thank you guys. You guys inspired me.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Oh that's right off here, but sorry.
- 1:21:26Speaker 12: That's actually part of my question is I'm I'm going
- 1:21:30Speaker 12: to use the just because I'm not a doctor or
- 1:21:32Speaker 12: nurse yet, so I'm just an EMT flebottomist. But have
- 1:21:36Speaker 12: you guys heard from other fans any amazing stories where
- 1:21:40Speaker 12: they said that you got your show inspired them.
- 1:21:44Speaker 11: And that's for all four of you.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: I'll go first. Yeah, all the time.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: I will.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: I will encounter nurses and doctors and paramedics and EMTs
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: who say Scrubs was the thing that that got them
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: into it. Some say they had no interest before and
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Scrub and Scrubs and the camaraderie and all the adventure
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: made them want to do it. And then some say
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: they were thinking about it and Scrubs put them over
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: the edge. But yeah, I mean, throughout my life there's
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: been lots and lots of people and sometimes I'll be
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: walking along the street and people be like, they'll do
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: a doubt take because they're excited to see me, and
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: I go to talk to him, like we'd weird doctors.
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: We just graduated in bed school and we'd scrub is
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: our favorite thing. So it's such a good feeling. I mean,
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: to the fact that we could have inspired anybody is
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: a really really good feeling. I'm sure you guys have
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: had the same experience.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Right absolutely. That's also why we you know, we did
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: the podcast. Also, this is this isn't just for the
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: fans of Scrubs. This is also for everyone out there
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: in the medical community, you know what I mean. Just
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: the respect and the love that we have for all
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: of you guys is immense. And so you know, when
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: we we were on a show that was a love
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: letter to everybody in that community as well. And so
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: this is all about y'all. So if it inspires anyone,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: if it makes anyone, if it makes anyone feel like
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: they want to get into medical it makes me happy
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: that I was a part of something that, you know,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: has turned people's lives around. You know, I didn't know
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: what I wanted to do. Then I saw Scrubs, and
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: now I'm a doctor or now i'm you know, I
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: work in the medical profession. So absolutely, it happens all
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: the time, and I'm very I'm I'm very proud that
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I was on something like this that's reached out and
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: touched so many people.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: What about you, guys, Bill end or Christa.
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: I always you know, well, Bill, if he sees a
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: new doctor or has to get his tooth pulled, it's
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: the first thing he drops right.
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: That comes out fast, like he just gets.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: It fast, you know.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: Scrubs.
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: I often have people say to me, doctors and nurses
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: will say that Scrubbs was the first show that they
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: felt accurately portrayed what it's like to be an intern
- 1:24:09Speaker 5: in a resident you know, in terms of all the
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: stories that you guys did and the and the reality
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: of how hard it was now tiring, et cetera.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: And Bill didn't the AMA come out and say we
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: were the most accurate show.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: They did. They said, we're the most accurate medical show.
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: And first of all, Emily, thanks for doing what you do.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: That's super cool. And secondly, you know it's really weird.
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: We're gonna I'm sure we'll talk about all this stuff
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: too on other podcasts, if you ever nice enough to
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: have me and or Krista back, or Emily back, or
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: on Emily's podcast. But when you're involved in creating something
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: and it's been years, if you're in you know it's
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: even presumptionous to call yourself an artist. You look at
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: these things and you go, here's what I got right,
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Here's what I got wrong, Here's what I wish I
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: could fix, Here's what I wish I could change. And
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: the one thing that I thought we got right top
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: to bottom, actors, directors, everybody else was because of the
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: real JD said, We're allowed to do as many jokes
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: as we want, as long as you make it clear
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: how much the doctors and nurses truly care and how
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: much they will give everything for patients. And the fact
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: that the AMA this year. You know, however, many years
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: after we wrapped twenty year anniversary of the Start whatever,
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: it was asked all of you guys to do their
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: graduation since their graduations got canceled for all the new
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: young doctors. Meant so much to me that you guys
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: are still part of the lexicon of young people, you know,
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: who aren't going into medicine anymore to be wealthy like
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: the old cliches. They're going into it to be of
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: service and to do something really important. That's probably the
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: best thing I'll take from this show, and that's why
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: it's so cool to talk to people like Emily.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Hey, Emily, it seems like you have a lot of
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: people in the room with you. Want to turn the
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: thing around.
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Let's know, she got called into surgery.
- 1:25:59Speaker 11: They were like, we need you on the doors saying
- 1:26:02Speaker 11: do not disturb.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Let him come in, come in, them in and let.
- 1:26:08Speaker 11: Them to doctors and a nurse just walk in and
- 1:26:11Speaker 11: they're like.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Guys, no, are they out there in the hall right now?
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Are they in the hall? Tell them to come in?
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: No, don't, don't, yes, yes.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Sa I want to say, dude, man should be the
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: freaking Queen of the freaking.
- 1:26:24Speaker 12: Are okay, guys, the Scrubs podcast wants to see you all.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: There's a lot of y'all right about.
- 1:26:37Speaker 10: To say.
- 1:26:39Speaker 11: Yes, that's that's part of my clinic.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: That's very cool.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: In my mind. Emily, they were like, we need you
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: stat he's coding, and you were like, shut up, I'm
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: on the podcast.
- 1:26:49Speaker 11: The fact that that hasn't happened yet.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: All right, do you have another question for us? Emily?
- 1:26:55Speaker 11: I do, and it's a little sillier.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Go ahead, all right?
- 1:26:59Speaker 11: So, knowing how big of lame is fans, you guys.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: Are, yes, except for Christa?
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: Going except for Christa.
- 1:27:08Speaker 12: Or maybe musicals in general, not in any Broadway play
- 1:27:15Speaker 12: or production? Which character and which play?
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Oh, I would be Jean Valjean, you know. But I'm
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: not getting excluded, and I would be Jean Valjean. But
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: I would do it in Paris because I would sing
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: it all on pog con do porcevetu. That's Wames and French.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: That's the only person I know that can sing pieces
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: of lame as in French.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Donald, Who would you be if I could be anyone
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: in any Broadway show? Wow? You know the one musical
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: that I loved growing up was Mary Poppins, and we
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: were very lucky to have Dick Van Dyke on the
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: on Scrubs uh for one episode. So if I could
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: be any character that he played on Broadway, I would
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: love to be Bert from Mary Poppins.
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: You'd kill it, kill it.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I would love that.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: That would be even do that.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: I'd even do the fake accent and everything. I'd suck
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: up the accent on purpose. Oh Mary Pulpins.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: There.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: But yeah, Christy, you would go if Donald started Mary Poppins.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I really, I would call you every day and be
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: like Christa, I got a ticket for you.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: Christy, didn't you come to my Broadway musical?
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: Yes, you'd go for Donald?
- 1:28:26Speaker 7: I did. I would go for Donald, But why are
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: you guys pressuring me?
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: This would be one of those things where I pressure you,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: so I'd be like, yo, come on.
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: I realised I would go for Donald. I wouldn't. I'd
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: be mad at him after.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: I'm probably too old to do it now. I'm not sure,
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: but I always wanted to do Annie as Annie, and
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: I'm not sure if it's too late, but maybe.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: See if zach ar Donald or christ can finishes Emily.
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: One of my favorite lines from a secondary character on
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: the show was, Uh, Nurse Roberts had to leave early.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Your nephew.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: You know what I love about that? Bill we talked
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: about I thought on the show it's that Nurse Roberts
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: was offended that you would think her nephew would be
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: anything but the lead. How could a nephew not this
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: show is called She had attitude like bitch if the show.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: If the show is Godspell, it would have been God,
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: God God.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: Well, Emily, thank you. We're going to keep you on
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: because the show is ending. We've done the show. We've
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: gone through it all. As Howard Stern always says, Krista,
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: what does he say?
- 1:29:49Speaker 6: So you've said it all.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: We've said it all.
- 1:29:51Speaker 7: You've said too much.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: We've said too much. We've said it all. I want
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: to thank Bill and Christa because, uh, this was fun.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: We did a whole season. Guys, we we did a
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: whole season of Scrubs. Rewatch podcast. Congratulations, Yeah, it's really I.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: Want to thank Joel and Daniel to not Daniel after today,
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: but they're both so kind.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: I think Dan does not deserve thank you for today.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I disagree with you, Zach. I disagree with you. I
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: tell you something right now. You guys don't know this
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: out there every Tuesday and Thursday. If it wasn't for
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Daniel and Joel, y'all want to hear such crisp recordings
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: and great Hi Larry. Look, if it wasn't for them,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: we wouldn't be here on your podcast radio thing, whatever
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: it is.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: That you listen. Listen, thank you, listen, listen.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: I will listen.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: Listen. I want yeah, I fell asleep while you were
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: doing that monologue. Listen. I want to thank these guys.
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: They do a fantastic job. I want to thank everybody
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: for listening. This has really been fun. Donald and I
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: thought this would be a fun, little entertaining thing to do,
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: but then COVID happened and it became our only job
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: and it's been so much fun. And it's a great escape, too,
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: great escape, and just hearing everything everybody's reaction to it
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: has been been a blast. So so thank you. Thank
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: you for Bill for making all of this happen. Thank
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: you to Christa for so many things, including, as Bill said,
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: so much of the music that y'all love on Scrubs
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: was chosen by Christa. So don't forget to tell your
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: friends please spread the word. Don't forget to rate the show,
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: remember like the Uber Driver five stars five stars, because
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: apparently that that that helps our our standing in the ranks,
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: and we're very competitive. We'd like to be high in
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: the ranks.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: We would also thank We also wanted to thank all
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: of our all of the crew members from this show,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: and all of the directors who came on the show.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: You know after this season. When this season ended, the
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: tone was now set and anyone who came in was
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: now playing in this big arena that bill the directors
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: and Christa and Neil created with the music and the show,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: the tone was set, and so we want to thank
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: We want to thank the directors.
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: He gave Neil a little more credit than he deserves that,
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: but you know, he was one of the writers.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: She knows, Krista knows. It's just Neil. Neil.
- 1:32:17Speaker 6: By the way, on I wouldn't do the music with Neil.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, you didn't do her music with Neil,
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: but he did some of the music.
