He Joined the Search for a Missing Church Bookkeeper. He Had Killed Her.
A 65-year-old church bookkeeper vanishes from her Tennessee farm in 1992. Her husband is lured away by a fake property buyer. A ransom caller demands $100,000, then disappears. For more than a year, investigators suspect the husband — until a family trap, a motel meeting and a confession lead them to a neighbour’s compost pile. This is the case of Martha “Doe” Roberts. Part of The FBI Files, based on real case history.
