Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and welcome to another episode
• 0:05
of the United Church of Tonga Youth Devotion.
• 0:08
Our Bible passage for today is taken from Philippians 1, verse 6.
• 0:13
It says, For I am confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work
• 0:19
in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
• 0:24
Our theme, we are a work in progress. Do you sometimes start a project and then leave it unfinished?
• 0:32
Maybe you started the new year with new resolutions, a new weight loss plan,
• 0:37
perhaps a Bible in a year reading plan.
• 0:40
Many personal projects are sometimes left unfinished because we easily give
• 0:45
up when things are tough or we get too busy with life and we forget about them.
• 0:51
In the letter to the Philippians, Paul is trying to assure the church in Philippi
• 0:55
that they did not earn their salvation.
• 0:58
It was the work of God through Jesus Christ.
• 1:01
So with this confidence in what God had started in their life,
• 1:05
they need to know that God will not leave the work that he had started unfinished.
• 1:11
When God saves us, we do not become perfect overnight. Instead,
• 1:16
we embark on a transformative journey.
• 1:20
God is continually at work in our lives, purifying us each day.
• 1:25
This ongoing process of sanctification will continue until the day we depart
• 1:33
from this world, or until Jesus returns.
• 1:37
This truth assures us that our salvation is eternally secure.
• 1:43
When God saves us, He keeps us.
• 1:47
If someone claims to be a Christian and later turns away from their faith,
• 1:52
it doesn't mean that they lose their salvation.
• 1:55
It reveals that they were never truly saved in the first place.
• 2:00
We cannot lose what we did not find. Remember, it was not us who found Christ.
• 2:06
He found us. In our journey of sanctification, God walks alongside us,
• 2:14
  guiding us through trials and
• 2:16
hardships that help us grow in our faith and understanding of the truth.
• 2:22
Recognizing this makes it so much easier to stay strong during tough times,
• 2:27
knowing that these challenges are all part of God's wonderful plan for us.
• 2:34
Surely things will get tough, but guess what?
• 2:38
God's grace always picks us up and encourages us to keep going.
• 2:44
He's committed to our journey, promising us His Holy Spirit will be our guide
• 2:51
  and support along the way.
• 2:53
God continues to shape our lives to reflect Christ more.
• 2:59
We must embrace patience and trust in His perfect timing and work.
• 3:05
Though we have strayed and sinned, he has redeemed us for himself.
• 3:10
He is the author and finisher of our faith.
• 3:14
And when he begins a good work in us, he will surely bring it to completion.
• 3:20
Let us have faith in his powerful hands, guiding our lives each day. Let us pray.
• 3:28
Our Heavenly Father, thank you for your saving grace. I appreciate your daily
• 3:35
  sanctification work in my life.
• 3:39
Remind me of the transformation you've started in me and that you will see through to completion.
• 3:48
In your holy name I pray. Amen.
