- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering one piece
- 0:11episodes three ninety one and three ninety two Tyranny, the Rulers of Sebodie,
- 0:19the Celestial Dragons, Sabiote, Saboti not Sure, and new Rivals Gather the
- 0:28eleven super Novas. In these episodes, Wow, this is really upsetting you
- 0:36guys. The slavery thing is a who knew what a Bobbers slavery is?
- 0:43Really me out. We also get an intro to a lot of new players
- 0:50and I am pretty stoked about all these guys. Welcome to spoil Me.
- 1:15Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much to
- 1:21Florian for commissioning this episode. Florian is here in the chat. What's up
- 1:25Florian the Hose. We've got a bunch of people here today though, thank
- 1:30you guys for joining me. So you know this, uh, this pair
- 1:36of episodes, it's a real roller coaster in terms of the vibe. Like
- 1:42we start off with this whimsical bubble bicycles and amusement parks, and like you
- 1:49know, there's it's just a feeling of wonder and childlike excitement and I'm here
- 1:56for it, and then it really is left abruptly in a way that like
- 2:05I don't know what exactly it is that gets me so bad about this scene
- 2:13with the dude who has the collar on him. I think it's like how
- 2:19huge and threatening he seems for just a moment and then abruptly he becomes this
- 2:23like like desperate, sad creature, you know. But the whole there's been
- 2:34plot lines about people who are being held unjustly and whatnot, and none of
- 2:38them really and I don't mean like in this show, I mean like in
- 2:44general there I have seen a lot of stuff where you have like clearly what's
- 2:50happening is is wrong and evil, and as much as you can understand that,
- 2:57it doesn't like necessarily get to you. And I know this is going
- 3:00to be like a real controversial thing to say. So Saraphim is in the
- 3:07chat good luck. No one agrees on how to pronounce this place name.
- 3:09It's an English transliteration of a pun based on the Japanese transliteration of the Portuguese
- 3:15word for soap. Wow. Well they should have called it soap putty instead
- 3:24for the English translation. But what I was going to say that I think
- 3:30is like kind of a controversial take, So y'all know about the whole the
- 3:38I don't want to call it scandal that feels too extreme. But Amazon had
- 3:44the Rings of Power series that was like the most expensive television show ever produced,
- 3:52and it just didn't do super well. And I will tell you guys
- 4:00the truth here. I didn't like hate it, but I only watched I
- 4:06think two maybe three episodes and literally forgot about it. That's like where I
- 4:14never felt truly invested in any of it. I just didn't. And it's
- 4:20such a difficult thing to pinpoint why that is and why it like why it
- 4:26works sometimes. But there's like a whole storyline in that where elves are being
- 4:32enslaved and this is that's a really good example of one where I'm looking at
- 4:38it and I'm like, I know this is wrong, and I know that
- 4:43we need to fight for our freedoms and YadA, YadA, YadA, and
- 4:47yet I'm just not particularly hype about getting these people free in a way that
- 4:55feels like visceral. I'm just sort of like, well, I know they're
- 4:59gonna get at of there's just a sense of distance, do you know what
- 5:03I'm saying? And This was so much more upsetting, and I think that
- 5:12part of it is the fact that this guy has succeeded in getting away to
- 5:18a point, so it comes upon you in a very surprising way. If
- 5:25you are zeroing in on the minds or wherever it is that the elves are
- 5:30and everybody is in shackles, you know what you're getting, and you're kind
- 5:34of mentally preparing yourself for oh, okay, we're about to go into a
- 5:40real bummer scenario here, right. But there's also an aspect of it being
- 5:46just like so overdone. This everybody is just like chilling and shopping, and
- 5:54this woman runs into a guy and he grabs her, and it really feels
- 5:58like he's doing the whole like, how dare you? You know? There's
- 6:01a lot of that, honestly, Like in these in this arc so far,
- 6:06the I accidentally walked into somebody is has been used like a several times
- 6:14now, and I don't know if I don't remember this being such a big
- 6:16thing in other episodes, but I feel like we've had this come up many
- 6:20many times already. But this just, you know, you think that you
- 6:27get what's going on, and then all of a sudden he's begging her to
- 6:30get this off him, and then starts just begging everybody for help. And
- 6:38then we've got the whole the attitude of the people surrounding him. And I
- 6:44think this is also part of what like really hammers at home. Nobody wants
- 6:48to look at him, Nobody wants to step forward and help, nobody feels
- 6:54that they can do anything, and nobody likes this. You don't get an
- 6:59impress Russian that the people of this town looked down on the slaves in the
- 7:03way that one would expect. You know, there's not a real sense of
- 7:10like we are first class citizens and they are barely people. It's more a
- 7:15feeling to me, at least of there but for the grace of God go
- 7:19I you know. And I don't know if that's like actually true. It
- 7:26seems like if you are a resident here that probably you aren't allowed to be
- 7:30taken as a slave, I would guess. But also the way that these
- 7:33fucking quote dragons work and we'll I'll talk about them in a minute, I
- 7:41don't know that that's true. It seems like they could just kind of do
- 7:44whatever they fucking feel like. And I'm not really certain whether like the townspeople
- 7:49are safe either the natives. Sorry, there's a lot of people in the
- 7:58chat here. I also says, oh, because you're talking about brings a
- 8:01power because only two of the five plot lines were interesting. Fair, Yes,
- 8:07Sarah fam Yes, let's make our main character a young, impulsive hothead,
- 8:11ignoring that she is literally older than the sun. I honestly like you
- 8:18say this, and I'm I want to be like, yeah, I know
- 8:20right, I don't remember. I just genuinely don't remember so much of that
- 8:28show. It was beautiful. I would love to make many scenes from the
- 8:33show my desktop background. But do I remember like anyone's name, even other
- 8:41than Galatril? Like literally not a soul? And Kyle says, I think
- 8:48how cartoony and lighthearted when piece makes the hard turn into dark and realistic evil,
- 8:50all the more jarring. That's true, and Sarah from says agree.
- 8:54The contrast between the idyllic vacation paradise, where the stuff goes on out in
- 8:58the open but is only quietly ignored, really makes it harder. Yeah,
- 9:03Kyle says, there are criticisms to make of Oda storytelling, but it's clear
- 9:07he has things he wants to talk about. And the guts to actually talk
- 9:09about them, so really quick I'm going to do you know what. Actually,
- 9:16I take it back, not really quick. I'm not going to do
- 9:18that. I am going to start at the fucking start of these two episodes
- 9:22because I'm getting way way ahead of myself here as I am want to do.
- 9:28But we start things off with all of our friends like deciding exactly where
- 9:37they're going to, how they're going to split up, and what they're going
- 9:41to do. So Sanji gets talked into staying to guard all of the treasure
- 9:46by Nami because she just drops some very heavy hints and he is a slave
- 9:50to love, as he puts it. We have Zoro running off and they
- 9:56all try to stop him and be like, dude, what are you doing.
- 10:01You're gonna get lost, you know you are. And Zara's pretty mad
- 10:05at the insinuation that he could get lost, which is just sir. I
- 10:09am so sorry, but we have empirical evidence here, and you're going to
- 10:11need to acknowledge that, like, are you also an anti vaxer because I
- 10:16just genuinely have no interest in listening to anybody who is denying the facts.
- 10:20And you have been lost every time you've gone off by yourself. It has
- 10:24never not happened. So and he makes an argument that because all the trees
- 10:33are numbered, it's impossible to get lost, and they kind of give him
- 10:37that one, and they're like, oh, okay, I guess he's thought
- 10:39this through more than I thought. But then he looks at one of the
- 10:43trees and just like, okay, I know which tree to go to,
- 10:46and it's forty one, but there's a bubble over it. So he says
- 10:52that it is one and walks away, feeling very smug about how what do
- 10:58they think? I don't know how to count, and I have like a
- 11:03couple of questions about how this whole numbers thing works, but it's super not
- 11:07important, so I'm gonna wait to like even ask it. We're gonna focus,
- 11:11Okay, we're really going to do it. So this is when Hatchie
- 11:16is explaining about the celestial dragons. They wear masks to avoid breathing the same
- 11:22air as us no matter what they do, promise to stay away and lufy
- 11:31very cavalierly I will say, just goes uh huh, And I'm like,
- 11:37oh boy, he is not listening. There are a couple of other things
- 11:41you should probably keep an eye out for. This is the place everyone gathers
- 11:46before heading to the New World. In other words, like you, there's
- 11:52a lot of big name pirate crews around, which means marines and bounty hunters
- 11:56are out to catch them. Also, the law won't protect it's from being
- 12:00bought and sold. Here, kidnapping happens all the time, so try not
- 12:05to stand out. If people realize how much you're worth, you're worth the
- 12:07whole island will be on you and you'll never get your ship coated. Also,
- 12:13we're right by navy headquarters, so the marines here are nobody to fuck
- 12:16with, and we've also got some pretty intense bounty hunters. Everything is a
- 12:22little bit higher stakes than where you've been. Once again, Lufy, we're
- 12:28gonna be just fine. And Hanshi has this like mark on his head that
- 12:35he's covered with a bandage, and when Lufy asks what that's about, he
- 12:41says, don't worry about it, which I'm gonna say, I am worried
- 12:46about it. Hanchi, what's going on, Brah, what are you doing?
- 12:52And he says, Cammy isn't a mermaid and I'm not a fishman By
- 12:56the way, not while we're here, just tend we're humans like you.
- 13:03And I just want to say, I know this world has produced some weird
- 13:09looking humans, so I'm not trying to say they can't pass Hatchie off as
- 13:15a human, but I am saying that it feels like they're going to have
- 13:18to explain his face somehow, and they really all should get some kind of
- 13:24story going that they can agree on, you know. So this is the
- 13:30point where Robin glances up and notices that that Camy. I always want to
- 13:37call her Cammy, and I know that it's not. You don't say it
- 13:39like that, and I keep forgetting how you actually say it. I'm sorry,
- 13:45guys, I'm gonna call her Cammy though, like I'm just because that's
- 13:50how it's spelled. I feel like it's Cami, Camy. It's Camy,
- 13:56right, I feel like I remember one of you telling me that it was
- 14:00pronounced with like a kay sound. All right, I'm gonna go Kami and
- 14:05really fingers crossed here on this. But the like vibe that she's giving off
- 14:13is not carefree. All the girls are sort of like, oh, we're
- 14:18gonna go to the mall and shop, except for her and she doesn't want
- 14:22to be separated, which they're sort of like, that's weird that she didn't
- 14:26come. But I'm like, if she's trying to pretend that she's human,
- 14:28she can't walk around like that's very obviously what's happening here. But they are
- 14:33not filling in our friends about why they are pretending to be human. And
- 14:39I didn't really understand why not when it's clearly like they'd be worth money to
- 14:45sell, because we already know that mermaids are worth a lot of money,
- 14:48and we've already heard the other guys, the other pirates like, talking about
- 14:52selling her. So I don't know, it's just a it doesn't feel like
- 14:58something that we need you keep under our hat unless there's like another aspect to
- 15:03it. I don't know. Maybe they're in particular they are wanted people,
- 15:07you know. So this is the point when Lufy like is able to climb
- 15:16up inside one of the soap bubbles and a dude on the side of the
- 15:20road basically he's got like a little a little structure that he's selling out of
- 15:28a stall, I guess, and he hands in this thing and is like,
- 15:31bring this in there with you as long as you can reach the pedals,
- 15:35you can drive it around all over the place, and it is honestly
- 15:41the coolest thing, you guys. This is straight up my favorite mode of
- 15:46transport that I have ever seen. Period, end of story. It's a
- 15:52giant bubble. You've got your little It's like a recumbent bike. You're not
- 15:58on top of the petals like you are leaning back in this seat. It
- 16:03looks somewhat comfortable, and when you pedal, it just like creates the spin
- 16:10behind you to push the bubble around. And I am obsessed with it,
- 16:15obsessed with it. So at this point, he's talking to them about the
- 16:22prices, and he's saying, those are the best way to get around.
- 16:29We rent them for five hundred berries, but you can buy your own for
- 16:32ten thousand, and Hotchie is like, no, no, no, we're
- 16:36just gonna rent one, and Lufy gets in a pretty big argument with him
- 16:40about how I have my own money and I don't. You don't tell me
- 16:42what to do with my money. If I want to buy one, I'm
- 16:45a fucking buy one. And I was immediately on Lufy's side, even though
- 16:49I knew better, because Hotchie's whole energy is giving I don't want to do
- 16:53this right now, but trust me, there's like reasons and I was like,
- 16:57but I want it so cool. Well, what it turns out is
- 17:02that the type of atmosphere that this island has really unusual. So it is
- 17:08the only place other than Fishman Island where you can even use one of these
- 17:14bikes. As soon as you get far enough away from here, it will
- 17:19pop and be useless. And it turns out this is like a really common
- 17:26grift that trying to sell them to people who think that they could just do
- 17:30this forever. It's I mean, it would be too you know, and
- 17:33that is so incredibly shady. So Lufy gets pretty pissed off as he's like
- 17:40realizing exactly what that guy was trying to pull. I don't blame him.
- 17:45So I'm realizing, like our starfish friend, is he worth any money?
- 17:55Because they aren't hiding what he is. I'm just you know now that we're
- 17:59being kind of paranoid about this. He's just down in the open. It
- 18:02seems like, I don't know whether that's something we need to worry about at
- 18:07all. We have a stall that's selling these like Grand Line cookies. These
- 18:18are steamed buttons. That's that's what it is, grammin for short. And
- 18:22they are meant to be like souvenirs that you take home because they last for
- 18:29a long time. They are shelf stable for yeah, three months. But
- 18:36none of them are actually paying attention to the like souvenir aspect, and they
- 18:41are just swallowing entire platefuls of samples. And honestly, if I were the
- 18:48guy, I would have straight up just taken those plates away from them.
- 18:51Nobody buys any you said, anybody in the audience. Have any of you
- 18:57ever worked as a sample giver at any establishment? This was my job when
- 19:04I worked for Whole Foods. I was with the marketing department after I moved
- 19:10out of the grocery department, and I was supposed to make these displays at
- 19:15a table that I would roll out, and there would be like a monthly
- 19:19or not monthly. It was like quarterly meeting where all of the people from
- 19:23marketing from the Northeast would come to this one area and we would all sit
- 19:30in conference for the whole day while different vendors would come in and show off
- 19:36their new products, whether it was food or equipment of some kind that we
- 19:41might sell various different things, and we would get the story behind the company
- 19:48and how they were made, and then we would get a calendar of when
- 19:52we were meant to go out and give these samples, and we would have
- 19:56been prepped with all of this information about the company and how to promote the
- 20:00product. And sometimes it was something that you would just give as is,
- 20:03like cookies, or sometimes it was something that you would have to find a
- 20:07recipe and make it and cook it on the floor in like an electric skillet
- 20:11or something. And I really liked the job, and I was really good
- 20:15at it on the days when I felt like giving a fuck, but I
- 20:18didn't always feel like giving a fuck, And I really like it was startling
- 20:26to me how thoughtless and selfish people were regarding samples. And I'm sure that
- 20:36at other stores it would be even worse, because Whole Foods is like it's
- 20:41so overpriced that a lot of the people who come in there have a real,
- 20:47like high opinion of themselves and would be more restrained. I feel like,
- 20:52then, say the crowd at Sam's Club, who You're at Sam's Club
- 20:57because you're looking for bars, and that's what you're here for, so you're
- 21:00going to try and get everything you can out of going, which is much
- 21:06more my energy. And I'm sure a place like Sam's this is like child's
- 21:11play to them, and they deal with us all the time. But the
- 21:15number of people who would just come up and like dig their hands into a
- 21:19bowl full of stuff that I am portioning out in front of them into little
- 21:26containers, it was just so gross, Like I would have to throw whole
- 21:29batches of things away because some asshole just reached over. And I would put
- 21:33boxes on display to like create a barrier between customers and the bowl, and
- 21:40they would just reach right the fuck over. They did not care, and
- 21:44yeah, taking like all of the samples and just like dumping them into their
- 21:48mouths one after the other. Or it was just this just was a moment
- 21:52where I was like, oh my god, I hate these kinds of people.
- 21:56So anyway, this is when we cut because like our friends have sort
- 22:03of split up here and we've got Nami, Hatchie, Robin and Starfish looking
- 22:11at all of these hotels which are made by just putting a metallic coating on
- 22:17bubbles and like holding them in place. It's a really neat idea. So
- 22:21we've got a ton of round, like perfectly spherical buildings. Oh you know
- 22:26what I'm seeing now that Lufy walks away from that that I keep forgetting the
- 22:33word for stall. Oh my god, he's walking away from it, and
- 22:37he's got like tons of boxes under his arms. So I will say at
- 22:41least he did buy some, because I forgot that he bought any and I
- 22:45was just like, oh my christ, I would be so mad. Sarah
- 22:49fam says all retail employees should be issued shock PRIs and given free Reintingis them
- 22:57y'all? I yeah, I feel like everybody on earth should be forced to
- 23:06work retail for like three years. One year isn't enough. Two years isn't
- 23:11enough. You need three full years to truly appreciate the tedium, the demeaning
- 23:22attitude of the employers, the customers, and just like how thankless it is.
- 23:30It is. There's so many folks out there. You meet them and
- 23:33you just know immediately you've never worked a job like this, have you?
- 23:37You just haven't, I could fucking tell. So, yeah, everybody's caught.
- 23:47Chopper has a little key chain and Brooke has a pennant that says like
- 23:53grand line on it, and when HATCHI turns around. He's like, oh,
- 23:59you guys have a lot the stuff. You should get those bubbled up.
- 24:03And they're like, what do you mean? And then we cut to
- 24:07Lufy holding the string on what looks like a balloon and all of his like
- 24:11items have been packed into a bubble so that he doesn't have to hold them
- 24:17in his hands. Can I just say that, like, I loved Scypia,
- 24:22but this bubble thing the answer to all our problems and I want to
- 24:27live here except for the slavery? Can we? If we just I will
- 24:33stay in my side of the archipelago and not archipelago whatever you get it.
- 24:37I'm just gonna never say any words again. Guys. I'm bad at it,
- 24:41but I love all Like the making of the buildings. That was a
- 24:48really particular moment for me of just like what and now you just have a
- 24:52structure like there's I want to spend so much more time here, you know,
- 25:00I And by spend more time here, I mean like I know we're
- 25:03going to have an arc here, but I mean spend more time here in
- 25:08the touristy way that we're doing currently, not in the fighting way, because
- 25:14the touristy way is where you get to see some of the neat stuff that's
- 25:18been created and also just like appreciate the downtime and getting to see all of
- 25:25the other things that the islands got going on. So yeah, we have
- 25:32a little interstitial there, and then we jump back to Oh my god,
- 25:40I forgot about this. They have like Hatchie who's riding one of his bubble
- 25:47bikes and it's a weird thing, guys, because like movie's inside of his
- 25:52bubble, so he is sort of it's almost like he's in a pod,
- 25:59you know. But the way that Hot Cheese is set up is the bubble
- 26:03is like underneath him and the bike is like kind of put over the top
- 26:08of it. So Brooke and Chopper and Kami are all sitting kind of on
- 26:17the bubble itself. They're not sitting on the bike, and it just isn't
- 26:22as cool. I but the way that Lufy's is where he's inside it,
- 26:26that's the only way I really prefer that. So this is the moment where
- 26:33we get the kid running into this guy and it was so so upsetting.
- 26:42So this dude, he has his hair that's divided into two. I want
- 26:48to call them ponytails, but that doesn't feel adequate to what these look like.
- 26:52And he has an extremely heavy eyeliner. It's giving Maria. Honestly,
- 27:00the two ponytails, it's like the elastics are way down on the base excuse
- 27:07me, guys, not the base like near his head. I mean,
- 27:10they're almost at the ends of the ponytail, but the hair is still like
- 27:15shooting up and out the way that they do when you have the elastic near
- 27:18your scalp. And he has this like outfit with this huge pop collar and
- 27:26everything, so I guess you get enslaved, but you don't get given like
- 27:29a uniform. It just looks like he was wearing what he probably had been
- 27:32wearing when he was a pirate. And he also has very pointed ears,
- 27:38which I don't remember seeing on anybody else. And I don't know that that's
- 27:42like important, but it just was very noteworthy. The whole way that he
- 27:48is designed is like we're splitting everything in to two points in either direction,
- 27:52you know. And this girl is like, please don't kill me, and
- 27:59he takes her and he says, I give up. I don't want to
- 28:04go to the New World anymore. I've got a wife and kid back home.
- 28:07Please, somebody help me. My little boy I left when he was
- 28:11just a baby. He doesn't even know what I look like. And for
- 28:15a minute, I was just like, Yo, is this fucking is this
- 28:19Usop's dad? I really did, guys. I had a moment. I
- 28:22know it's not I'm pretty sure, but I did have a moment of just
- 28:26like what's going on. So he's yelling for them to help and saying,
- 28:34I just want to go home. That's all that matters to me, and
- 28:37Hatschi is saying, we got to stay out of this. He's probably just
- 28:42a pirate that got sold into slavery and he made a run for it,
- 28:48but he has to know what happens to slaves when they try to get away.
- 28:53And all of a sudden, he looks down at the collar, which
- 28:57has started to tick, and it's very clear everybody is kind of understanding what's
- 29:03going on here, but it's starting to get faster and faster the way that
- 29:10the ticking is going, and he is yelling, damn it, damn it,
- 29:15get off me, and then all of a sudden it explodes, and
- 29:19it's a really awful moment. Now I am going to say this. I
- 29:25know the way that this show works, and so I did not expect him
- 29:30to die because of this. However, there is a point later where somebody
- 29:36shoots at him twice and then after that we're talking about how is he going
- 29:42to make it, and like he's still alive, and that did surprise me.
- 29:48I really sort of thought this is going to be a person who was
- 29:52used as an example. And I know that we don't kill like main characters
- 29:57or even really side characters, but I did think that once she took those
- 30:02two shots, I thought, now, yeah, we are getting at death,
- 30:06you know. And I truly was shocked when we start discussing like whether
- 30:11he survived or not. I was like, I thought it was understood that
- 30:15was a death sentence, that was it, you know. But anyway,
- 30:21this whole moment, it's just so sad. This guy is like in the
- 30:25middle of this cloud of smoke, just stumbling out of it and covered in
- 30:30blood, and he just says, help me, and Lofy is horrified,
- 30:34like, you know, so hot. She says, all the slaves get
- 30:38given a callar like that and if they try to take it off or run,
- 30:42it'll explode. And this just reminded me a lot of the parable of
- 30:52the Sower, I think, or is it parable of the Talents. I
- 30:55can't remember which one is the second one. I was commissioned to read those
- 31:00books, and I will tell you what, guys, that was probably the
- 31:03most difficult reading experience of my life because it was so on the nose for
- 31:11what we're going through as a country right now, and it was written like
- 31:14two decades ago. It's there was even a like racist president who was running
- 31:22under the banner of make America great again. I'm not kidding, and like
- 31:26chunks of the speeches that he gave were verbatim shit that Trump was saying.
- 31:33It was uncanny. So that in itself was already extremely disturbing and upsetting.
- 31:40But then in the second book, as things have like really continued to devolve,
- 31:48there grew the popularity of the use of collars like this one that you
- 31:56that could not be removed except by the people who held the keys. And
- 32:00they could, depending on the models that you bought, deliver shocks if you
- 32:07disobeyed, explode to kill you, or and this was the one that really
- 32:13fucked my head up. They could deliver a dose of a drug to make
- 32:21you feel good, and that would be the sort of thing that would get
- 32:28you to do things because you want another dose. Basically, they would string
- 32:35you out. And the idea of like being so utterly under somebody's control like
- 32:42that, it was so hopeless that I had nightmares about it, like it
- 32:47would the whole concept of it was just so so disturbing. So this like
- 32:54is given me shades of that. It's not as intense because those I mean,
- 32:59those books are there's a lot of rape, you know, and honestly
- 33:04it's written by a woman, and there's times where I'm like, Okay,
- 33:07this is egregious. Those books, it just felt like, no, this
- 33:09is what would happen, Like, of course, this is what would happen.
- 33:13This is just how it would go. So anyway, I just want
- 33:16to warn anybody because the titles of those books have been circling a lot due
- 33:22to the fact that they feel like more and more relevant, And while I
- 33:25totally get it and I understand people's curiosity and wanting to check them out due
- 33:29to that, I really want to warn y'all it is nothing to play with.
- 33:32Those books are extremely extremely upsetting, super super violent, super like there's
- 33:43just so much hopelessness, and even when people get out of certain situations,
- 33:46it's sort of like out of the frying pan into the fire kind of where
- 33:50it's like, is this actually better? And it just felt a little bit
- 33:54too much like the life a lot of us live. So anyway, this
- 34:00just reminded me of that, and so the whole vibe was it got to
- 34:05me. And at this point he collapses and Hocchi is having to really hold
- 34:15Loofy back and be like, dude, don't get involved, I'm for real,
- 34:20for real, And just as he's saying that, a dog with a
- 34:24little like bubble over his head strolls up and stops and peas on the fallen
- 34:32slave, and then here come the dragons. Now, I want to say,
- 34:44right off the bat, Hotchie said they wear masks so that they don't
- 34:49have to breathe the same air as us. I am going ahead and saying
- 34:53right now that is not why they wear these. There is some vulnerability to
- 34:59our air or something like it, and that like, oh, we don't
- 35:04breathe the same air as you because you're beneath us, is something they put
- 35:07forth to explain it so that nobody would understand what the actual like weakness they
- 35:15have is So that's just on the record, I'm saying that, and I
- 35:19have absolutely no doubts that's the facts. However, it is pretty wild because
- 35:24they're being called dragon celestial dragons, and to me, I'm like, does
- 35:29this mean they're aliens? Like, is that the thing that they can't survive
- 35:34in our atmosphere because they are aliens. There's a mention about the creators of
- 35:39the World Government and how they sort of came out of nowhere, and I'm
- 35:45sort of thinking, like, is this it is that what we're doing,
- 35:49that they're just like straight up from like another planet, you know. So
- 35:57I'm gonna describe the scene of these four people who walk up people being used
- 36:06somewhat loosely in certain spots. So we've got first on the right, a
- 36:16knight in armor, pretty traditional looking honestly, don't really see his face though.
- 36:23He's got a very pointy helm which looks very weird, and there's barely
- 36:28any space between it and the neckpiece of his armor, so I don't know
- 36:36if he is a servant or also a dragon or what I'm gonna go with
- 36:42also a dragon because of the shape of the armor being a little bit sass,
- 36:46and the shape of the outfits that the daughter and king. I don't
- 36:51know if it's king and princess actually I say that, but they may not
- 36:54be. But the daughter and father are each wearing outfits that I can only
- 37:02describe as like a cross between an astronaut suit and formal robes, like white
- 37:14robes. And when I say astronaut suit, I mean because they are white
- 37:20and they have long sleeves that close at the wrist and black gloves, so
- 37:24like none of their body is exposed to the air, which is part of
- 37:30what's making my little you know, suspicions go off here. They are fully
- 37:36protected from their the atmosphere, and he has this like the shape that they
- 37:44each have is like an apple standing on a couple of toothpicks. They are
- 37:53very top heavy and round. And I don't know if it's like the delivery
- 38:00system for whatever they breathe, or if it's that they have like actual wings
- 38:07or something under there, because it's unclear to me the dragon aspect of this,
- 38:12is that just what they call themselves or do they transform or is this
- 38:19them transformed? And I really have to address I know that I talk about
- 38:24cradle a lot, but because of what I come across in this show,
- 38:29it's just making certain things suddenly become clear. There are dragons that are very
- 38:36humanoid in the Cradle universe, and I am kind of thinking, oh,
- 38:40okay, I see it now, like this is probably part of where the
- 38:45inspiration for that came from, because, like I've said, he is a
- 38:47big fan. So yeah, And the robes sort of split at the knee,
- 38:53and then below you have like for her, it's a red, orange
- 39:00and yellow. For him it's blue, green and yellow. But it's like
- 39:06layers and it almost looks like fishtails the way that it's split. It reminds
- 39:12me of the mermaid tail that came he has, and just the look is
- 39:17very distinctive and strange. And then the King is dragging with him this beast
- 39:28and he is sort of in a perpetual squat and is like shuffling along with
- 39:35his legs really heavily bent. And I'm not sure if that is how he
- 39:38normally walks, or if this is like being forced on him for whatever reason.
- 39:45But this being is like I don't know if he is human or used
- 39:51to be human, or what the deal is he is wearing basically like boots
- 39:57up to the knee, black boots. He's got a dun colored jumpsuit and
- 40:05brown gloves, so most of him is also protected, but he doesn't have
- 40:09one of these bubbles over his head, and the gloves like buckle and the
- 40:15jumpsuit buckles. There's a lot of like buckles happening here. His head is
- 40:21basically a rectangle and he's just got two. It's like he's got sideburns that
- 40:30grow straight out from the side of his head instead of like down his face,
- 40:35and he has these symbols on his forehead that I am starting to be
- 40:40like, is this related to Hatchie? Like Hotchie's got something on his head
- 40:45that he's covering up. I'm like, is that a slave brand? Was
- 40:47he enslaved and then like got out of it somehow? Like what is that
- 40:52about? So the princess, when you get close up, she's also where
- 41:00wearing this like pair of glasses underneath the bubble and long heart shaped earrings,
- 41:07and the glasses have like it's unclear to me if it's like actual glasses or
- 41:13if it's a tattoo that sort of looks like it, but it's dots that
- 41:16like go over the bridge of her nose and up her cheeks like the way
- 41:20that the base of glasses do. And she is saying, another one of
- 41:24our slaves is broken down, and he says, did you give it it's
- 41:29daily sedative like you were supposed to? Of course I did, but it
- 41:32seemed it has no effect on this poor fool. I don't even want it
- 41:37anymore. Would you buy me a new one? And he is like,
- 41:43I don't want to get you another one. You're not good at taking care
- 41:45of them. And I have this whole like pirate captain collection, and you're
- 41:50fucking ruining it. And she says it was useless to begin with and starts
- 41:54kicking him. And this is what's really getting loof Be worked up, is
- 42:00that the way that she is kicking this dude who is utterly defenseless, he
- 42:08can't handle it. He's starting to turn purple, basically. And then all
- 42:13of a sudden, she's got a gun in her hand and she says,
- 42:17you make me want to vomit, and she pulls the trigger twice, and
- 42:22that's when Hatchie has to put a hand over Lufy's mouth and be like,
- 42:25you have got to control yourself, sir, and this dude is the as
- 42:32they like, turn and walk back. Her father is saying, what about
- 42:39a child for your next one, because she's like wanting a giant And when
- 42:45he says that, she says, oh, I hate the weak ones.
- 42:49So wow, Yeah, we're dealing with some real, real top quality charmers
- 42:57here for sure. Oh Gus says, I think it's implied that they're just
- 43:04humans who just think they're gods because they're the descendants of the founders of the
- 43:07world Government, or at least that's what I got from the conversation about them.
- 43:13Maybe, so when they call themselves celestial dragons, there's nothing actually dragon
- 43:19ish about them at all. All right, Well I don't believe it,
- 43:24but that's fine. So this is when a bunch of people like show up
- 43:31to carry this guy away, and Hatchi is like, yeah, we gotta
- 43:36get out of here, dude, let's move, and we go to a
- 43:39little like spot in the woods where everybody is trying to calm down. Brooke
- 43:45is pouring tea for everybody out of his little flask, and honestly, I
- 43:49just love him the most, you guys. I know that he's out here
- 43:52asking the color of panties and just that is a bummer. But yo,
- 43:59the fact yo, ha ha ha, the fact that he just is like,
- 44:02how about a nice cup of calming tea? And I was like,
- 44:05oh, that sounds so good. I could go for some too, to
- 44:07calm me down. Please, sir, thank you. And this is when
- 44:14Lufy says, do you think he'll be okay? And I was like,
- 44:17do I think he'll be He was shot twice, the collar exploded on his
- 44:24head. No, I don't think he's gonna be okay. But then Hachi
- 44:29says, even if he is, he'll go to prison for piracy, and
- 44:32I was like, oh, man, are we gonna like rescue this guy
- 44:36eventually, So we find out that if anybody hurts the Celestial Dragon, an
- 44:45admiral gets called and they send a fleet of ships to handle the situation.
- 44:52And it is if this is when, because up to this point we are
- 45:00not aware that they are related to the creators of the World Government. So
- 45:02you're just like what why? But yeah, this is when he says they
- 45:07are related to the bloodline of the creators of the World Government. Eight hundred
- 45:12years ago, a group of twenty kings came together to create an organization now
- 45:16known as the World Government. The Celestial Dragons are their descendants, and you
- 45:23get this like weird silhouette while this is the starfish talking while he's telling them
- 45:31the story of these figures standing with the bubbles over their heads, and they
- 45:40have heads shaped like what I can only describe as the pieces from Sorry,
- 45:51you know that board game where it's like it's almost like a bowling pin kind
- 45:57of shape, and it's giving not human to me. They just don't look
- 46:04like people. I don't know if this is meant to be their hair or
- 46:07what, but they have very pointy ears. Also, not sure if that's
- 46:12like part of it or it's just a stylized drawing. And yeah, the
- 46:17fact that it like the way he says eight hundred years ago a group of
- 46:22twenty kings came together to create the organization known as the World Government. Why
- 46:28do they all? What is this though? Is this part of it?
- 46:31This look that they all have. As the generations go by, they grow
- 46:37more and more reckless with power, and Lufy is just like, ah fuck,
- 46:45because you can really sense he wanted to start some shit and now he's
- 46:51having his parade raid on a little bit, which I'm glad that he that
- 46:55Hockey was Hatchie was able to hold him back at all, because I was
- 47:00sort of worried that he was gonna like lose hold of Loofy and then we
- 47:04were gonna have a whole scene. I really felt as if, you know,
- 47:08don't jump into this until you know what they are capable of, sir,
- 47:12because you have got to be aware of their tricks before you start some
- 47:17shit here. So they're in the midst of this combo and the camera pulls
- 47:23back and there's a bunch of dudes who are eyeballing lufy, and they have
- 47:31one of the posters wanted posters, and they're like, oh shit, there
- 47:37he is. Look at he's worth this many berries. And they come down
- 47:43on the group and are so not prepared, like they get laid out immediately,
- 47:50and a bunch of them later are talking with each other and going,
- 47:52wow, we got taken out instantly. We are no match for them.
- 47:59Maybe a guy that's that level, like is just somebody that we should stay
- 48:04away from. And they are all sort of like in concert, you know,
- 48:09yeah, you might be right, like we're not ready for this.
- 48:15But then one of them spots something with Kami and he's like, oh,
- 48:22hold up a second, I think maybe we could make some money after all,
- 48:27and they regroup and are going to make some more trouble. So as
- 48:35we're driving, Hatchie is explaining he's got a map of the archipelago and he
- 48:40is showing them the way that the setup for all of the different sections is
- 48:46and what they each contain. And I did find this sort of interesting.
- 48:52Grouped in clusters of ten, the borders aren't as clear cut in reality,
- 48:55of course, but we've got site seeing in souvenirs, we've got amusement parks.
- 49:02We've got it, says human shop, etc. Lawless area, hotels,
- 49:08etc. Government officials. And then the two ones in the middle aren't
- 49:15labeled. I'm looking at this right now ten and zero, so I don't
- 49:22know if that's mentioned, and I just missed it, but that's the way
- 49:27that it's being presented. Are the ones around the outside, And yeah,
- 49:31this, he says, the government area is the front door basically in the
- 49:37place that you want to avoid. Right now, we're in cluster twenty.
- 49:44Groves one through twenty nine are more or less known as the lawless area.
- 49:49That's why the place is crawling with so many bounty hunters, and I love
- 49:54Chopper being like, it would be super cool if you had told me before
- 49:59we came out here, and I would have had Zoro or Sangi come along
- 50:02instead because I am not capable. And I'm sort of thinking, yeah,
- 50:07you are, though, like I know that you don't have the same You
- 50:12can't do moves endlessly. You have your limited access, you know, because
- 50:16of the rumble balls and everything. But like Chopper, you can stand up
- 50:22for yourself, and I feel like you're not a liability at this point,
- 50:25you know. So it turns out the place that they're going is called Shocky's
- 50:32rip Off Bar, and Shocky, I think, is she like just living
- 50:38with or is this guy her brother? I can't remember this scenario here,
- 50:43but Shocky, it's so great, you guys. They the bar that she
- 50:47runs, They opened the door and she has this guy by the collar and
- 50:53is beating the hell out of him. And when she recognized this hot she
- 51:00is just like, oh, hey, Bud, just give me a second.
- 51:02I just let me finish getting this guy to pay me the money he
- 51:08doesn't owe me. This dude is fucked up too, like bleeding, and
- 51:22I love the fact the hot. She doesn't even acknowledge this. He's just
- 51:24like, yeah, go ahead, take your time. Oh my god.
- 51:28So Shocky is a complete delight. I just want to say, for the
- 51:37record, I feel like this is the most excited I have been about a
- 51:45new like human character. In a minute. Brooke is gonna beat her,
- 51:52but he's not human to me anymore. He used to be. Now he
- 51:55is supernatural. He is a walking skeleton. He has an unfair advantage because
- 52:00of that. But especially considering like the women in this show can be sort
- 52:07of nothing, I really really love her. She is basically a gangster and
- 52:15she has I think that it's the same like voice actress as the one who
- 52:20does Robin, but she's got a much smokier, sort of fem fatale voice
- 52:25going on for this character. And she is ready to roll with absolutely anything.
- 52:34She's just a real like game player, and there's a like kind of
- 52:38vibe to her that made me feel like she was from a pulp fiction type
- 52:45universe, like she was. She's a Tarantino character, is really what I
- 52:51kept thinking. You know, she's got this tiny, little like top on
- 52:55that's got a spider on the front, but then she's got this long sleep
- 53:00thing with weird frills that come out at the neck. It looked like it
- 53:02was gonna be a hoodie, but then not. She gives Chopper some counting
- 53:07candy and tells him it'll be just one hundred million berries or something, and
- 53:10Chopper gets so upset and it's like, I don't have that much, and
- 53:15she bends down in Pats's head and says, no, honey, that it's
- 53:16just a joke, so precious, And it turns out she knows exactly who
- 53:25all of them are, and it's like, yeah, don't you know who
- 53:30the people you're up against are? And Lufy's like, no, I don't
- 53:32read newspapers, and she's like, yeah, look I get that, but
- 53:37you really should though, Like it's to your advantage to be aware of what
- 53:42you're gonna be up against. So I'm just saying, maybe just I'll give
- 53:50you a little rundown here. So she tells them that okay, she's married
- 53:57to him. The she thinks that her husband, he's been gone like a
- 54:02month, I think. She says, is in probably the lawless area,
- 54:12and that they're going to have to really watch their back because the people that
- 54:16they are going to be up against there's going to be eleven other people with
- 54:21bounties exceeding one hundred million berries. And at one point at the very end
- 54:28of the episode, she says that her husband will be fine because he's a
- 54:31hundred times stronger than Loofy or something like that, and everybody's like what,
- 54:37And I also would like to know what the fuck that means, Like what
- 54:40does that look like? So let's see, you had a choice to make
- 54:46when you cross the Grand Line. There were seven c roots that would lead
- 54:50you here. After you picked one, you followed your log post the rest
- 54:52of the way. Naturally, these other pirates picked one of the six roots
- 54:58you chose not to and me, they went through just as much trouble as
- 55:01you did to get here. It doesn't matter which route you took. You
- 55:06eventually hit the Grand Line, and everybody winds up at this archipelago with hopes
- 55:12of getting past that giant wall. And we see like how this went,
- 55:17you know, with all of their different colored lines leading forward. It's very
- 55:21interesting to me that you get locked into like a particular route that way with
- 55:25a log pose. And so this is when she starts to like explain who
- 55:32everybody is, so The first person that we meet is this girl. I
- 55:39think her name is like Bonnie, and she is a glutton and it's so
- 55:46guys, honestly, it's so annoying. So she's at this restaurant and she's
- 55:52chowing down, and there's this dude over here that's really giving, like Penguin
- 55:57from Batman, but he's a Capone is his name. He's got a real
- 56:05gangstery vibe, and he tells one of his guys to go and wire her
- 56:09jaws shut. When this dude tells him that's not a good idea. We're
- 56:14right by navy headquarters. He turns with his fork and I think is meant
- 56:17to have gotten the guy in the eye with it. From Let's see a
- 56:24Capone gang beg a I don't know, West Blue, Captain of the fire
- 56:30Tank Pirates, which is such a weird name that we're going with, but
- 56:35sure, let's do it. Why not? One hundred and one hundred and
- 56:38thirty eight million. We jump over to Bonnie, and I'm just gonna really
- 56:44quick screen share with you guys, so that you can see when we jump
- 56:50back over to Bonnie what we've got. I'm gonna just bounce back ten seconds
- 56:57we got him. That's a little instructed card. And then we go to
- 57:01Bonnie. We are zoomed in on her titties moving around, and then we
- 57:08get a nice close crotch shot for why, for what reason, can we
- 57:16just not please? I am begging everybody to not anymore. I will say
- 57:24this, it's extremely refreshing for there to be a glutton character who isn't fat,
- 57:31because that is just fucking default. I mean, come on, So
- 57:37I will admit I did appreciate that she is being displayed as not like,
- 57:45oh I eat so much and yet I'm so skinny and that makes me sexy.
- 57:49It's like gross, and everybody is going, oh my god, get
- 57:52a hold of yourself. What are you doing? And she's eating at a
- 57:54rate that's like everyone in the restaurant is going, how does she even fit
- 57:59that much food inside of her body? And you show Jewelry Bonnie the aka
- 58:07the Glutton one hundred and forty million berries, and I want to mention like
- 58:13the way that she's being introduced and everybody like this whole title card thing is
- 58:20really giving like a guy Ritchie movie sort of vibe. You know, there's
- 58:24like a pause, the colors change the text comes up and it's all like
- 58:30done in this really stylized way. And so then this one dude gets like
- 58:36sauce on another guy's pants and his boss says, that was the fate of
- 58:40your pants. Taking a life on this day will only bring our crew bad
- 58:45fortune. He is magician Basil Hawkins, and he has a two hundred and
- 58:54forty nine million berry bounty. This dude looks cool as I really enjoy his
- 59:00whole look. I don't have time to get into individual descriptions, unfortunately,
- 59:06but I am certain we will run across these guys again and I will do
- 59:09them justice. Then then we meet Kid and he has got a little bit
- 59:17of a joker vibe just because of his voice and the way he's got that
- 59:22like lipstick and this extremely wide smile. But he's glaring at this dude in
- 59:29the restaurant and they there's an explosion and there's suddenly both outside and this dude
- 59:34it looks like, has two elbows on each arm and so his arms look
- 59:39crazy. But yeah, he is Sea Roar Scratchman, a Pooh one hundred
- 59:49and ninety eight million berries. And then Kid who comes out he says,
- 59:55all I knew was that you wouldn't stop staring at me, and he says,
- 1:00:04basically, I'll put you out of your misery because you're such a creepy
- 1:00:07looking dude. Eustace Captain kid, three hundred and fifteen million berries. And
- 1:00:16what we find out later is that his bounty is so high because he just
- 1:00:22literally will kill anybody civilians, it doesn't matter. He is really out here
- 1:00:28to just like cause chaos and wreck shit. And we jump over to a
- 1:00:35fight between this guy who's like using a pillar as a weapon basically, and
- 1:00:40he's got wings and he is fighting with a guy who's got well, looks
- 1:00:45almost like a motorcycle helmet, but it's like it's not clear on the front.
- 1:00:52It's just got holes punched in it. And then some other dude with
- 1:00:55like a captain's hat jumps into the mix, and that is Red Flag Drake
- 1:01:05two hundred and twenty two million berries. He's got like a domino mask with
- 1:01:08that hat. And let's see, I'm trying to find if the oh yeah,
- 1:01:16here it is the dude with a pillar, mad monk, you Roge,
- 1:01:22I don't know if I'm saying that right. Honestly, I get a
- 1:01:25pretty good energy from him. I kind of like him. I feel like
- 1:01:30mad Monk is the one that other than the magician Basil, what's his face,
- 1:01:36he's my favorite. And he tells the masked man to get down and
- 1:01:42like thank the Drake for his life. That dude is Massacre soldier killer.
- 1:01:49Very terrible name, exceptionally bad, really really awful, like top five worst
- 1:01:54names of this show. Easy, And so these are like, there's oh,
- 1:02:02there's right. There's one last guy who's got like a sort of animal
- 1:02:07print thing going on on his hat, on his jeans, lots of tattoos,
- 1:02:12and his name is the Surgeon of Death Trafalgar Law. Surgeon of Death.
- 1:02:19Ah, I'm like on the fence if it's bad or good. Honestly,
- 1:02:22it's one of those. But yeah, So these are the dudes that
- 1:02:27they are all facing, and Shocky is like, so, whoever you run
- 1:02:31into, just know these are the people that you're against. I like you,
- 1:02:37so I'm going to have your back, like I'm cheering you on,
- 1:02:39but there's trouble ahead for sure, to which Lufy's like, um, I
- 1:02:47really am just here to have fun, so I'm not gonna worry too much.
- 1:02:52But your husband, I'm kind of concerned on his behalf. And this
- 1:02:58is when she said, trust me, Raley's all right. He's a hundred
- 1:03:01times stronger than you. And that is the end of the episode. Is
- 1:03:06everybody being like a hundred times and that's it. So yeah, there's so
- 1:03:16many people in the chat. I'm so sorry, guys. Jessica says.
- 1:03:22There's a cover story about Hatching Kami that was released with the manga. Oh
- 1:03:27okay, I have liked it in the oh I think linked it. I've
- 1:03:30linked it in the no Spoiler discord channel. Thank you, Jessica. Sarah
- 1:03:37from says Oda came up with the characters and designs over a single week when
- 1:03:39his editor suggested adding a few more big name pirates to help flesh things out
- 1:03:44and make it more interesting. Florian, yeah, because bubbles and the dragons
- 1:03:49are not interesting enough. That is wild. They truly thought that. Yeah.
- 1:03:52I have to agree with Florian on this one. I was doing all
- 1:03:54right without that, honestly, as much as I'm like interested now that those
- 1:04:00pirates have been introduced, Initially, I was a little bit disappointed because I
- 1:04:04thought we might get sort of a different thing this time. Then here come
- 1:04:10a bunch of big bads, and I was a little disappointed that it was
- 1:04:15like, oh no, wait, first you are going to have to deal
- 1:04:16with a bunch of big beads before you can even probably get to the whole
- 1:04:20thing with the dragons. I was like, Ah, really are we doing
- 1:04:24this? It really will depend on how good they do with the how well
- 1:04:30they do, I'm sorry, I hate doing that with these pirates and flushing
- 1:04:33them out and making the fights actually interesting. So yeah, we'll have to
- 1:04:41see. Jessica says, do you believe that her husband is a hundred times
- 1:04:45stronger? I'm going to say no, I'm going to say that she doesn't
- 1:04:51know what Lucy's fully capable of, but I'll say he is fifty times stronger.
- 1:04:56How about that? So she's wrong, but she's not like that wrong.
- 1:05:03But I'm overtime, so I really do have to wrap. I am
- 1:05:06very excited about where this is heading, though I'm not gonna lie, so
- 1:05:10I'm looking forward a lot to Thursday. Um, all right, everybody,
- 1:05:15thank you again so much for hanging out for listening, and hope you're enjoying
- 1:05:19the coverage. Until next time to the loom motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled Network podcast
