- 0:19Report with Sam Whitfield. Welcome to the Thursday edition
- 0:30of the Whitfield report. Technically, you guys might be
- 0:36hearing this on Friday, but we are recording this on Thursday.
- 0:41So, technically, it's the Thursday show.
- 0:45So welcome everyone. As I mentioned in the Batman
- 0:52review, video that I did on YouTube, this will be a spoiler.
- 0:59Phil's review and we're going to do this episode probably
- 1:03multiple Parts. But for part one of this spoiler
- 1:07review, I have Sean's mango of real news who I missing him on
- 1:15Twitter because I don't get to hear his Twitter tags anymore.
- 1:22There's things but, you know, I I've been talking to what People
- 1:29on Twitter about the Batman and I've gotten some pretty, I've
- 1:36gotten some pretty hot takes from people.
- 1:38I think, I think some people are surprised.
- 1:40I like this movie as much as I do.
- 1:43But anyway, first off Sean, welcome to the show and just
- 1:49kind of before we get into spoilers too much.
- 1:52What were your just general kind of initial I guess hot tags.
- 1:59Greetings Gamers. And thank you for having me on.
- 2:01As always, I got serious movie early and early screening so I
- 2:08didn't have any spoilers, which is great and I've say this to
- 2:13preface X, my pains may change. There's a good chance, my pains
- 2:16will change on second viewing, which will surely come this week
- 2:19or next, when I take my girlfriend, but I have mixed
- 2:26feelings on it. Mostly positive.
- 2:29But I do have mixed feelings their stuff.
- 2:33I love stuff I like and stuff. I disliked I absolutely adore
- 2:38the cinematography Greg. Frazier is my second favorite
- 2:42cinematographer out there when we Roger deakins beating him,
- 2:45very beautiful, he shot doun. He shot wrote One, the
- 2:49Mandalorian and some other things.
- 2:53I'm probably forgetting but he is fantastic.
- 2:55And the cinematography is probably the best of him.
- 2:57Batman. Lots of cool close ups.
- 2:59Lots of cool colors. Very I would agree.
- 3:03Yeah. Absolutely.
- 3:03It's one of the best parts. The score surprised me is really
- 3:08good. I've always been to Chino fan
- 3:10but I didn't think he was gonna be the right choices because
- 3:14he's usually better doing happier music so to speak.
- 3:18But scores, great. Very moody it's got that theme
- 3:21that everybody's going to come out humming in their heads
- 3:23afterwards. And it's actually very simple to
- 3:26make two notes on the piano and plays very simple, but it's very
- 3:29good. The mood is very good.
- 3:32I love the Noir detective V Blade.
- 3:34Runner can Vibes in this very good, very atmospheric acting
- 3:39all around solid is not bad. Performance.
- 3:44The story is good ish and I'll explain why later why I'm a
- 3:49little kind of iffy on it and the plot is kind of the same
- 3:53thing. It's a little goodish.
- 3:54The characters are all superb. I love the direction they took
- 3:58an all of them. I love what they did something
- 4:00different and I love everybody. Played them.
- 4:05The negatives though that I have third Act is very weak and very
- 4:12uncharacteristic. The whole film and I don't want
- 4:15to say anti-climatic. Yeah.
- 4:16Kind of is kind of anti-climatic.
- 4:18Sure. Really.
- 4:21I mean it's kind of semak that's kind of not and there's some
- 4:24issues with it that don't make sense.
- 4:27There's a reveal that I could, I feel it could have been a what
- 4:33we felt like with your Marvel end credits scene.
- 4:35I'm glad it doesn't have any incred scenes just in, need to
- 4:39be in the film and I just I there's this one line and, you
- 4:47know, it and have doing it probably knows it.
- 4:49Now that said by Catwoman to piss me off, took me out of the
- 4:53film. It's awoke line doesn't need to
- 4:55be in the film. I bet it's a studio know.
- 4:57I bet Studios put it in, but it takes me out of the film and it
- 5:01pissed me off for a while that it just what I just couldn't get
- 5:04on my head because the movie had nothing to do with it.
- 5:06It comes out of nowhere and just takes you out of it.
- 5:09And that's all he can think about for a while, really?
- 5:12Still. So when it took you when it took
- 5:15you out of the film, like it took you out, it wasn't.
- 5:19It wasn't like it took you out but then you were able to go
- 5:22back and yeah, and that was the problem is like for a good 30
- 5:26minutes. I just couldn't stop thinking
- 5:27like, why the fuck was that line in there?
- 5:29That pisses me off, is this awoke movie and I just couldn't
- 5:33get out of me. I eventually did because I would
- 5:35kind of force myself, but that's the promise chilly.
- 5:40As it takes you out, especially when there's no Set.
- 5:43And this is the problem that third act in general is there's
- 5:45just no setup for a lot of things.
- 5:49Like there's this thing the Riddler does that's like the big
- 5:53finale and it's never. Yeah.
- 5:56And And that one's. So I and everything else though.
- 6:03Awesome, awesome, stuff. But there's just some random
- 6:07shit thrown and I just didn't care for, but I'm trying to
- 6:11think of my other names, but those are really it.
- 6:12Like I said, the negatives aren't a lot.
- 6:14It's just, they have a good chunk of value with them.
- 6:19Waiting wise, weight-wise the things, I loved a pretty solid,
- 6:25the things I liked or decent. You know, they're not super main
- 6:29parts of it, but the things they disliked were kind of in between
- 6:32or not really, super important things, but they're not
- 6:36pointless things either. And so that's variety.
- 6:40The only other thing I really just kind of didn't care for is
- 6:44their portrayal Bruce Wayne in this.
- 6:47I think Pattinson is fantastic. I think he's fine.
- 6:50I think it's great. I've always really thought he
- 6:53has potential and I didn't think he was going to be bad in this
- 6:56so tall. But he's Bruce Wayne, I didn't
- 7:00care for. And it's not because I look, I
- 7:03see what they're going to probably do with some character,
- 7:05both with him, which I think is good, but I think it was a
- 7:09little overdone, in the mood Eid oppressiveness of him.
- 7:14It didn't feel like that when he was Batman, he was a different
- 7:18person. I mean, kind of does, it feels
- 7:20like he's laying his rage out, but when he's Bruce Wayne, I
- 7:23expected a little something different.
- 7:25I understand that he's Controls Batman and he's Batman through
- 7:2990% of the film which I thought was cool.
- 7:31It was different. That's great, but when he's
- 7:35Bruce Wayne, I expected some more vulnerability, maybe or
- 7:38some more something that's hiding behind that mask.
- 7:43And I think that would have been more interesting to see that
- 7:45this guy is like really broken. Like, you get the vibe that he's
- 7:49broken, but you never really see it.
- 7:52You see you can tell he's depressed.
- 7:54You can tell, he's going through ship, but you can't really see
- 7:57why. And you can't really see all the
- 8:01effects on. You see the little bit where
- 8:03Like how? You know, you're not very
- 8:05charitable. You're not really doing much.
- 8:07We could use you and there's like a subtle thing, somebody
- 8:10mention. And now let give your thoughts,
- 8:12that was a really cool detail, but you notice that whenever
- 8:15he's outside, he put sunglasses on and that's because he's used
- 8:19to being outside at night in the sun's too bright for him.
- 8:22He's never outside like physically outside without
- 8:26sunglasses and goes inside building.
- 8:28He takes them off but like in the funeral scene, but I thought
- 8:32that was a really smart guy. Detail, like there's a lot of
- 8:34really smart cool things in this.
- 8:37But everything add together, it doesn't completely fit.
- 8:40It's not a masterpiece, it's good.
- 8:43I'd give it like, maybe an 8 out of 10, but it's definitely not
- 8:46the best Batman. I've seen I could say it's
- 8:48probably the most comic accurate adaptation, which I think is
- 8:51cool. And I like that.
- 8:53But I think it was not as good as I thought it was going to be,
- 8:57but it was not as bad as some were thinking.
- 9:00I was going to be. I didn't like as much as I
- 9:02thought I would, but I still liked it.
- 9:05Yeah, and I mean, I think Think that's actually pretty fair
- 9:08analysis. I mean I gave it like a nine
- 9:11point five out of ten which you know again I know that's pretty
- 9:16high for some people and that's generous, you know, I also I
- 9:24also know that well, I mean I guess so what me kind of explain
- 9:29that because I didn't really explain it too much, in the
- 9:32spoiler, you know, free video. But like so and you and I have
- 9:38talked about this in general like, nowadays.
- 9:42Like I rarely go to go to the movies.
- 9:47At all, like if I can stream, if I can stream a movie like on HBO
- 9:54Max, I would rather do that. You know, then then God and it's
- 10:00not, because I'm anti-social just because like, you know,
- 10:04even with like matinee shows, like you're still spending like,
- 10:09you know, 20 bucks for two people which granted isn't bad.
- 10:14But like I can, you know, That's just for like one movie and you
- 10:20know you can rent like three movies for that like on on
- 10:26demand or something. So you know, going to the
- 10:30theaters like I've done it twice this year and I've liked it but
- 10:33like I guess you know, I mean, going into this movie, I didn't
- 10:39have any expectations like what would be good or bad and I guess
- 10:44I was kind of surprised how good it was because there's like a
- 10:49long-term Batman fan. Like I've read the comics since
- 10:56I was a kid. So like a lot of the like two
- 11:03notes like the Long Haul weaned and Batman year, One that they
- 11:07You know, used and thus, like I picked up on and, you know, so
- 11:12as far as like the influence the Conch booked like, you know, it
- 11:17was definitely recognize which I really loved and this one
- 11:21because I feel like with the Christopher Nolan films like as
- 11:25great as they are, they were like, they were kind of doing
- 11:28their own thing. And so the fact this is like
- 11:34that this was like, you know, really like attempting to You
- 11:38know, conflict accurate. Like again, it wasn't perfect,
- 11:42but like they made a damn good effort.
- 11:44So I have to give them props on that.
- 11:47You know, like you said, the cinematography was, like, war
- 11:54was gorgeous and I have to say that that is like the one thing
- 11:58that like really suck me and was like, I felt like I was in
- 12:04Gotham, you know? Yeah.
- 12:07I didn't feel like I was, you know, in New York masquerading
- 12:11as Gotham or that I was in Chicago masquerading as Gotham.
- 12:16I felt that I was like in Gotham City proper and I do like how
- 12:21they kind of made the city like a character in the in the film
- 12:28and of itself which is usually the case with these blade runner
- 12:33in the war type things, which is what they were going for.
- 12:36And I think that works Right. You know, as far as pads and
- 12:41goes like like someone is. Yeah.
- 12:46Yeah. Yeah Benson.
- 12:48As I as I call them, you know, I know that people were making fun
- 12:54of him being like oh this is going to be, you know, Twilight
- 12:58Sparkle a Batman and it's like ever since Jane.
- 13:02No Craig. Like basically blew everyone's
- 13:05mind but how good he was as Bond like I you know I try not to
- 13:11jump the shark because I'm I'm kind of like, okay well you know
- 13:16so-and-so might surprise you and he in rock bands and definitely
- 13:20did. I want to say these the best
- 13:22Batman? But He potentially could be in
- 13:29future films. I just think it's it's really
- 13:33still to eat, it's really still too early to tell but I like his
- 13:40depiction of, you know, as Batman.
- 13:43I also like to have this was the first time we've actually seen
- 13:48Batman be through and through a detective of a detective story.
- 13:53I know that's being said a lot about this but it is true.
- 13:56As you see, then Dark Night a little bit.
- 13:58You see that other one's a little bit, but you don't see a
- 14:01full-on detective story where they're hunting Clues and trying
- 14:06to find the Killer and they finally find him.
- 14:08And that's again. There were two problems.
- 14:10I do have, which I'll get into. Can we go in this pose now?
- 14:13Reduced? Sure.
- 14:14Yeah, yeah, we can go full on into spoilers.
- 14:18Okay. So spoiler warning, I'm some
- 14:20spoilers. This is where things get
- 14:23anti-climatic from. He's at the end because Cuz the
- 14:27Riddler's introduced. And I think the Riddler, by the
- 14:29way, best version of river by far, I don't like, I mean, this
- 14:33is how the Riddler is Basis. Basis is OD a killer, and I
- 14:38think that works really well, because it's scary.
- 14:41It's realistic. Helping the school fees or Jim
- 14:45Carrey version. That's just doesn't really work
- 14:48for me. I like my Batman serious with
- 14:51comic relief. But look, serious and grounded
- 14:52and realistic. I think that's for a lawsuit me.
- 14:56Um you should go but I'm just not into the whole Fantastical
- 14:59superhero Thing and neither am I.
- 15:03Yeah, so that's where damage always been my favorite but it's
- 15:07also darker, which makes my favorite, but I love the
- 15:09Riddler. I think.
- 15:11Paul dinner was great. I don't think he was amazing.
- 15:14I think there was just enough of him that he gives a great
- 15:18performance but I wanted more out of it, it feels like, you
- 15:24know, it you can It felt like to me a lot of times, there wasn't
- 15:30really a lot of the audience for participation.
- 15:32What I mean by that is when Batman finds these clothes, he
- 15:37figures out like right then there most of the time I mean
- 15:40there was times and it works and it's good where you kind of
- 15:43don't know what the fuck these clues mean, and still kind of
- 15:46lingering in that. And there's some twists with
- 15:48that, like the L and the law parts of the penguin figures.
- 15:53Like that's that's good. I just didn't think there was
- 15:56enough for the audience to kind of piece things together and
- 15:59then when you finally get to it, it's kind of what you kind of
- 16:03expect. Like, At first, I didn't know
- 16:06what he meant by see you and how again, good mystery.
- 16:08I didn't understand, I didn't know who his final Target really
- 16:12would be, but I had a good guess would be Bruce Wayne and what
- 16:16shockingly it is. But the the problem I have is
- 16:20that, by the end of it, that's not like the real end goal with
- 16:23him. The end goal is he wants to
- 16:24flood the city and there's no set of.
- 16:28I don't know, Gotham had sea walls until he told us.
- 16:31I didn't know that was going to be a thing except from the
- 16:34trailers. And why is he doing that?
- 16:38I don't understand. I still don't understand
- 16:40motivation for flooding. Gotham.
- 16:42I get to an extent but they still don't get it well and The
- 16:48other thing that someone pointed out was like and I think this
- 16:52was Gare Du Nord Roddick that pointed this out.
- 16:55Was where the hell? Did he get the resources Tool?
- 17:00Uh, yeah. And like, you could say his
- 17:03online community. But, yeah and Rich.
- 17:07Well, yeah. And I mean, also like other
- 17:10window like the streamer in this vein, by didn't know, he's like
- 17:12lulea livestreamer. Well, I mean, he's so I will say
- 17:17that like the Dreaming thing is kind of cool because like they
- 17:22that because they've they've done that in the comics and you
- 17:30know, for the last couple years and I don't know if you've
- 17:32played like any of the Arkham games but I own them but I've
- 17:36only played play one of them like when I was really young but
- 17:39I own them like I want to play them.
- 17:42Yeah so in that game like basically you basically talk to
- 17:46hurdler like over Curved screen and like he'll give you like
- 17:50Puzzles and you know you have to like either run around Arkham,
- 17:54Asylum and run around. Gotham City to do that.
- 17:57And so like that version of The Riddler was definitely in this
- 18:01movie. And yeah, when it comes to Paul
- 18:05Dano, I feel like he did a really good job of Riddler.
- 18:12One of the things I read was that they kind of and I
- 18:16understand why they did this, but they did say that they kind
- 18:20of, I guess hold the Riddler back a little bit because they
- 18:26didn't want Paul Dano too. Go to get like two invested
- 18:32because he is like a method actor, whatever.
- 18:36And they didn't want getting like to Super invested in
- 18:38basically like and I had to make this comparison.
- 18:41But I mean it's what they said. They didn't want him pulling
- 18:45like a Heath Ledger and basically suiciding himself
- 18:50because of the stress. So You know, I would have liked
- 18:57to have seen more but at the same time I mean, I don't know,
- 19:05we'll see the thing to at the end and Chris core mention is so
- 19:08it's a good point. I mean, it's very clear that
- 19:11this movie has a lot of Inspirations for the comics V
- 19:14Inspirations from 7. I'd even argue Blade Runner
- 19:17zodiac and a few other movies but at the end of it like I am
- 19:23cool with this movie two-thirds of the way through.
- 19:25I'm Get. I like yeah.
- 19:28And it just needs to like, have this final payoff that makes me
- 19:31go God. That was an awesome movie but it
- 19:34doesn't do that. And that's why I'm kind of left
- 19:37below. Like I liked it but not as much
- 19:40as I want to. At the end of it, we treat.
- 19:42Which which honestly is the is like a reason why gets like a
- 19:46nine point five out of 10 because the first two, the first
- 19:52two acts are Like Masterpiece is if this if this were like a TV
- 20:00show, right? Like these like it would have
- 20:05been like a great first Arc but then like the third act or
- 20:10whatever the finale is just like I feel like they Rush My problem
- 20:16with the ending is, I feel like they rushed in like, they tried
- 20:21to cram way too much into the last act or this a three-hour
- 20:25movie. And that's where I'm like, right
- 20:28which is what's there's one big thing that they could have cut.
- 20:32So, I'll mention in a second. I know why it's in there.
- 20:34Cut that. And then you could have had like
- 20:37a two-hour two-and-a-half-hour movie or two hour, 45 minutes
- 20:41over nuts, much tighter cleaner movie, that was better.
- 20:45The honest when you said TV show that's what really intrigues me.
- 20:50This really if we really want to be honest should have been an
- 20:55HBO Max TV series. It would have been the biggest
- 21:00thing since Game of Thrones having this style Batman in a TV
- 21:04series where he every week is trying to solve a mystery and
- 21:09maybe the mystery lingers through the whole first season,
- 21:12maybe it's three episode arcs. It could be the coolest TV show
- 21:17ever ever. I mean, it would be so good
- 21:21seeing this Batman in a TV setting with big HBO.
- 21:24Budget Game of Thrones budget thrown at it.
- 21:28And this Talent involves, it would be fantastic.
- 21:32Like I would love the shit out of that and it would be the one
- 21:35of the most successful TV shows of all time.
- 21:37It just would be, that's what they should do.
- 21:40I want to pay them to choose. I don't I want this as a TV
- 21:43series and And with the ending, though.
- 21:48It the whole movie is pretty small scale, and I mean that in
- 21:53a good way, it's very, you know, Batman Gordon and Catwoman
- 21:59figuring this whole mystery. I with the Riddler and penguin
- 22:02is crime, Lord, that's in the city.
- 22:05It's all that stuff is stuff. Well, it builds well yet, World
- 22:09building, but it's all contained in this city.
- 22:11In a pretty small scale way where there's just this guy
- 22:15murdering some big-name people. But at the end, End of it, it
- 22:20goes into the whole series can be flooded.
- 22:21It gets into this big Hollywood spectacle which I'm not saying
- 22:26that's necessarily a bad thing but it feels for this movie
- 22:30uncharacteristic. Where's was Savin?
- 22:33Its small scale and it ends, small scale, it ends with Kevin
- 22:37Spacey Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt, and a box in the middle of
- 22:42a field and it's dramatic. It's one, most memorable endings
- 22:47in cinema. Superb.
- 22:50It's a great plot with and it leaves you going like Blown Away
- 22:54by the end of it. You don't need a big spectacle
- 22:57and I feel like that's what the movie.
- 22:59When's. It fucking need this big
- 23:00spectacle at the end of it, but it really didn't.
- 23:03I think what they were going for was Batman.
- 23:05Starting off very reclusive and just kicking people's ass and
- 23:10ruling by fear by end of that he realizes.
- 23:14I need to put fear into the criminals bios, need to give the
- 23:17people hope I need to give him a symbol.
- 23:19Any sort of developing idea of what Batman is, which Dark
- 23:22Knight trilogy does. And this does, which is cool,
- 23:26but it didn't really at first, I didn't realize, that's what I
- 23:30was trying to say. Till I thought about it later.
- 23:33It's not very clear in that and the way to go bad they could
- 23:35have done in a cooler way. Yeah.
- 23:37Yeah, and I agree I agree with you because like the thing is is
- 23:43like I If that's that's the other thing I like about this
- 23:48and this is one movie where I felt like this is one area where
- 23:51I felt like the Dark Knight trilogy, like started off really
- 23:55strong at but then kind of like, you know, for the Dark Knight
- 24:00and the Dark Knight Rises, this is where the this is where the
- 24:03Christopher Nolan movies kind of Fall Apart.
- 24:07Was the idea of like that man being, you know, a terrifying
- 24:12symbol to, to criminals like the the scene at like the in the
- 24:17beginning of the Batman were like, you see all the criminals,
- 24:22just see it, they see the bat signal and they just like, start
- 24:26pissing themselves, you know, in like that man's not in even
- 24:32there. But just like the idea that, you
- 24:34know, he could be, there is It's just, you know, tariff, tariff,
- 24:41second example, show, don't tell, they don't say Batman,
- 24:44scary. They want me.
- 24:46They kind of do but the way that they show it is really well done
- 24:50and that scene was telling me, I'm like, all this is going to
- 24:52be really good and then it just kind of disappointing me at the
- 24:55end of it. Where's the dark night?
- 24:57I mean I don't want to compare it to a good but people are and
- 25:00I don't think they do. Yeah different.
- 25:02That's one of my all-time favorite movies.
- 25:04Top three favorite movies. It's amazing and it's Flawless
- 25:08from start to finish. It is one of the best movies
- 25:11I've ever seen hands down. But the way that movie ends is
- 25:15so much better in so many ways. Because, again, there's, there
- 25:20is some of the sort of big spectacle to it.
- 25:23But that's kind of way that they were doing their films and it
- 25:26isn't even too big. It's not like the whole City's
- 25:28going to be flooded. It's two.
- 25:30Boats are going to get blown, Micah blown up, and Harvey
- 25:33Dent's, kind of going on a murder Rampage.
- 25:36You know, it's like Too big. It's you know it's contained
- 25:40enough and then it ends with Batman doing something heroic
- 25:46that you would never expect it which is he takes the blame for
- 25:49Harveys murders because that's the hero.
- 25:52He needs to be somebody who's willing to do the hard things to
- 25:55become a villain, you know? And because that's what Gotham
- 26:01deserves but that's not the hero they need at the end.
- 26:04You know, where knows that line because it's such a powerful
- 26:06idea Message that's unique that you don't see any other
- 26:09superhero doing and it's just it's just such a it's one of the
- 26:14best things I've seen in this ending is just kind of men.
- 26:18And I think part of the problem with that is especially this
- 26:21third Act is the whole sir revisionist history of the
- 26:25Wayne's. I didn't really like that.
- 26:29I don't know if that's a comet. Was that in the comics at all?
- 26:32That sort of Isaiah, the wings weren't that great.
- 26:36Well, okay. Okay, so the one thing, the one
- 26:41thing is interesting because they've kind of changed it
- 26:46throughout throughout the decades.
- 26:48So, so, okay, so a few things, one kind of just going off your
- 26:58Dark Knight hum. It's interesting because Like I
- 27:02used to be with you that the Dark Knight was Flawless, but
- 27:07then I watched a few reviews where I'm like, oh yeah, The
- 27:10Dark Knight still has flaws. What's funny?
- 27:13Is the flaws that the Dark Knight has Our our flaws were
- 27:20dressed perfectly here in the in the Batman and then vice versa.
- 27:27If that makes sense. Yeah, let me it does have flaws.
- 27:32Don't get me wrong, but it's there just so small that it
- 27:35doesn't matter to me. Well, I mean, like, the wasn't
- 27:39take me out of a movie. That's the important thing.
- 27:41One thing in the dark. Yeah, no, it doesn't do that.
- 27:44But like the one thing that like, okay, so two things kind
- 27:48of Drove me a little bit. I want to say like, I want a
- 27:54like mad with the Dark Knight but one thing, but why?
- 27:57Like two things that were kinda disappointing.
- 27:59Like like one, they were like kind of start and do with, like
- 28:05detective work to like, find find out who the joke or was and
- 28:10then Alfred does that whole? Like when I was a young man and
- 28:15I was in Burma, you know, there was that there was a guy was
- 28:18burning down the forest and somehow that leads like that
- 28:23way. Bruce to be like, okay, well,
- 28:27fuck that. Fuck the detective work, I guess
- 28:29it doesn't like really matter and I kind of felt.
- 28:32I kind of like, I always kind of felt like what in the you know,
- 28:37that's not how Bruce would act, I guess.
- 28:43And then the other thing too, in this is actually juice the
- 28:47CollegeHumor YouTube channel, at any of you ever seen this
- 28:51parody. But there's like a there's like
- 28:56a thing where they rewrite the ending of The Dark Knight
- 28:58trilogy where they rewrite the ending of The Dark Knight where,
- 29:01like where Where I Gordon's like wait a minute, you don't have to
- 29:08take the fall for Hari that you can just you can just blame
- 29:11everything on the crazed clown and that I thought about that.
- 29:16But the problem that is the joke was in a completely different
- 29:19location and I don't think it would have made sense actually.
- 29:25Yeah. I mean, yeah, I mean that's
- 29:29that's a good story then dies in a different location so it
- 29:32wouldn't make sense and a Joker's like dang.
- 29:36Yeah, I mean I mean yeah I mean that's that's a good point but I
- 29:40mean again those are just like to very minor flaws.
- 29:43I have what the Dark Knight right.
- 29:45Other than that it is a perfect movie.
- 29:47Now, as far as like the World building in this one, like with
- 29:51the with the mob and whatnot. I really adore that because like
- 29:58in the comics especially like in the 80s during Batman year One
- 30:02like Before the before I could get the Rogues Gallery.
- 30:07So to speak, like the mob in Gotham is like Batman's main,
- 30:15you know, like antagonist for like the first like Roughly two
- 30:21to three years of his crayons. So the fact that they really
- 30:24focused on that you know I'm like and then introduce the
- 30:30lighter The Riddler kind of as an ailment, you know, outside.
- 30:35That was really good. I like that but then and then
- 30:39there's the thing. It doesn't make sense with that,
- 30:41that they do in this movie, is after the car, chase with
- 30:44penguin, which I didn't think it was as great as people say it
- 30:47is. Honestly, I thought it was
- 30:49goodish but it's kind of, like, The camera with the way the
- 30:53cameras work and I couldn't really tell what was going on
- 30:55sometimes and wasn't, as it wasn't as throwing as I thought
- 31:01it would be, but by the end of it, like penguin, like just
- 31:04fucking like, messes up this entire Highway and him and
- 31:08Gordon like, you know, they hadn't against the wall later
- 31:12and they're getting answers out of him.
- 31:13And then they just leave them like, this is a guy that's like
- 31:17committed so many. Yo, broken.
- 31:19So many laws and they just leave them.
- 31:20And I. Yeah.
- 31:21Yeah, he's an alien is because he needs to kill.
- 31:23What's his face at the end of it.
- 31:27Yeah, that that. And that does kind of like that
- 31:32does kind of annoy me. And I guess part of the reason
- 31:36why they did that is because they're setting up Colin
- 31:38Farrell's like Penguin series on HBO but like they can do that.
- 31:44I mean, there's no way you can do that.
- 31:45But this is just a, it's a plot hole because they were arrested
- 31:49him. I mean, maybe he breaks out of
- 31:50jail. You could do shit like that.
- 31:52Yeah, I have penguin break out of jail or something like like
- 31:55That or you know, no, Chapo. I mean, that's what it feels
- 31:58like is one of those guys has so much influence and people are
- 32:01were the he could like buy people off the em out of jail
- 32:04you know. Right.
- 32:05Exactly. How absolutely have something
- 32:06like that. You know but then when rulers in
- 32:10jail he of course bumps into the Joker, any other cell Which I
- 32:18don't know how I feel about that because it's pretty obvious by
- 32:26the end of it. But I just, it felt kind of
- 32:31forced into the movie to set up a sequel.
- 32:34I know, matri skips, keep saying well Hebrew no penis equal now,
- 32:37he's going to be in the sequel. It's pretty clear.
- 32:40Like it's obvious this shit but I wish it was joaquin's Joker.
- 32:46Yes. And that and that's one thing.
- 32:49Like I think that's one thing like you and I have talked about
- 32:54too is like I feel like this Batman would be Perfect for the
- 33:03Joker that we got in Joker. So as much as that joker is a
- 33:08very different take. You know, he's more of this
- 33:11mentally, unstable idiot which in many ways wouldn't work as
- 33:16and Nemesis to Batman. The problem I have is we've had
- 33:20like three fucking new Joker's in the past like few years now,
- 33:25we had Jared Leto walk Gene. And now this guy and I think
- 33:32it's, I'm just kind of, I Won't Say I'm sick of the Joker's, I
- 33:35love the choker, it's one of the greatest films ever created, but
- 33:40I just feel like it's going to get harder and harder to do
- 33:43really good ones that are different.
- 33:45And I think we should try doing different films, which is why I
- 33:48like about this is a, did the Riddler and the typing pool
- 33:52better way, but I don't want to see another Joker because I
- 33:55don't think it's going to and I could be wrong.
- 33:56Don't get me wrong, they could prove me wrong but Just don't
- 33:59think it will work that. Well yeah, well I mean, when I,
- 34:03when I saw, when I saw Joe, when I saw Joker and I saw like,
- 34:10yeah, I get that he's more mentally unstable and he, you
- 34:14know, like he suffers from a mental illness.
- 34:17Like I get that like that's kind of the Joker that I would want
- 34:21to see face off against Batman, just because, like, I feel like
- 34:26that would be so much more. Or.
- 34:30Difference, you know, for Badlands of face, you know, as
- 34:34well as the like, you know, a mobster which was what Jack
- 34:38Nicholson was or NaNa argost, which is well, Ledger was, you
- 34:44know, like it would have been different, it would be, and it
- 34:49sounds like what they're going for with this one, is that he
- 34:52has this facial deformity where he's always smiling and then he
- 34:56eventually Embraces it after being bullied with it.
- 34:59For it and that is something different.
- 35:01I just don't know what's going to really work, but I did like
- 35:06the penguin this. I think Colin Farrell is great.
- 35:09Probably one of the better performances very
- 35:11indistinguishable. I think he's the perfect penguin
- 35:15and I think he does. Yeah, well but back to the Wayne
- 35:19thing I just thought that was so stupid because initially you're
- 35:25like I get kind of pissed cause I'm like oh they're trying to
- 35:28make the rich. Bad and they're trying to make
- 35:31the, you know, the Wayne's bad which I think is kind of lazy,
- 35:35that's done a lot nowadays. Well but then it kind of saves
- 35:39itself because it's like, oh, you know, he didn't intend for
- 35:42these people to get killed but it gets wrapped up real quickly
- 35:45in this one conversation them, like, what was the point of
- 35:47that? So, so in the comics and that
- 35:52in, in like, in the Long Haul weaned.
- 35:56So, okay, so Falcone is Is essentially supposed to be like
- 36:00The Godfather. Yeah, type figure in like the
- 36:05Batman Universe or to speak. Right.
- 36:08Yeah. The fact, the fact they killed
- 36:12him off so early in this I mean they didn't come off early in
- 36:16the movie, but I mean I guess like he should have stuck around
- 36:20for one more movie. I feel like because in the
- 36:24comics like he he's actually a very important, you know.
- 36:29Character. And I feel like they kind of
- 36:32killed him off a little too early on in the series.
- 36:35But anyway, so like the whole part about him like going to
- 36:43Thomas Wayne for help because he got shot in Thomas Wayne, you
- 36:51know, like saved his life like that.
- 36:55All, that all happen in the comics.
- 36:59And the way the way the Alfred explains that to Bruce, in the
- 37:02comics it was well, your dad is your dad.
- 37:06Your dad was a doctor. He was a surgeon.
- 37:09Yeah. No obviously he wasn't going to,
- 37:13you know, turn turn someone down.
- 37:15And it helped he didn't. He didn't like it but he's
- 37:19still, I get ya and I like that part so I think that's
- 37:22interesting. He still did this idea that he
- 37:25hired him to kill reporter and it turns out what we just hired
- 37:28him The Wake scare them. It's kind of just.
- 37:32Yeah. That that's so the whole idea of
- 37:35like, demonizing the Wayne's like that something has been.
- 37:39Like I, it's been in the comics but it's been like, newer in the
- 37:44comics like within them has like five years, which again, it's
- 37:50because me and my 6 K. And so yeah, that's what I was
- 37:55going to say. It feels like the sort of
- 37:57revisionist I don't feel like better term Walker Comics.
- 38:02It's just I don't know why. I still don't understand why
- 38:05that's in this movie at all because it happens and it's
- 38:09resolved quickly and then that's that.
- 38:10You could have cut that out. Save a lot of time and I just
- 38:15didn't get it. I really didn't understand the
- 38:17point of that. Yeah.
- 38:19Now, the and how one area where I and we can kind of go into
- 38:24this too with that line in particular.
- 38:27So, I know that people like Zoe Kravitz, what's interesting to
- 38:33me is the people who were really critical, Robert Pattinson for
- 38:38some reason, they really like Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman.
- 38:43I didn't think she was that great.
- 38:45I thought she was fine, but I think she was bad.
- 38:47I since yeah, so great about her.
- 38:49So, I mean, so here's my take, I think she was.
- 38:54I think she was fine to my problem with her.
- 38:58Is that like, okay, so Batman's kind of supposed to be like, you
- 39:04know, Moody and broody and whatnot.
- 39:07Right? Yeah.
- 39:08And Catwoman. I mean she's not tatius.
- 39:14I guess. Yeah.
- 39:15I mean she's not supposed to be like Sawyer over the top like.
- 39:19Yeah, she is more flirtatious she is.
- 39:23Like more, I guess a seductive. Yeah.
- 39:28She doesn't, she'll make like funny quips and the comics like
- 39:33and I mean she does a little bit here but I guess part of the
- 39:37problem I had with Zoe Kravitz is Catwoman.
- 39:39Is there are times where I feel like you know she's supposed to
- 39:45like Have like an emotional scene, you know, or like she's
- 39:49supposed to like be kind backing like like, you know, like
- 39:53Catwoman but just because I and I don't know if it's because
- 39:56she's a new actor or what but she just kind of comes off.
- 39:59It's like wooden or like her performance.
- 40:03Feels a little forced to me is she doesn't come off as sexy.
- 40:08That's the problem. I think what's interesting about
- 40:11that character is that yeah there's a sort of sexy appeal to
- 40:15it doesn't have to be like you said, Doesn't have to be over
- 40:17the top, but I think what could have been interesting and I,
- 40:22this is going to sound contradictory, but I love the
- 40:24serious tone. This move a lofted, it's not a
- 40:28joke, every five minutes, right? But I think Catwoman could have
- 40:31helped given it a little more levity and I can tell that's
- 40:34what she kind of does, but I think that would have made it
- 40:38again interesting contrast to Bruce because Bruce is being old
- 40:40or Batman is being all Moody and broody.
- 40:43And she's trying to be all like cheerful and and happier.
- 40:46You're not very cheerful but just lighter and right, right.
- 40:49Yeah. More like this sort of YOLO, you
- 40:52know, I'm just going to like, she's kind of sort of edgy girl,
- 40:56that's, that really doesn't give a fuck but in a sort of, but
- 41:00she's funny and that's, you know, those sort of people in
- 41:03your life they're kind of like these are yellow people, but
- 41:05they're really funny. Well that and well and that's
- 41:08that's horrible that's her role in the comic book, you know to.
- 41:12So I like the fact that they, you know, and again You know,
- 41:17she could be coming back for future movies, who knows?
- 41:21Yeah, I don't left open, I don't think she's bad.
- 41:25I just think possibly because she's, you know, a new actor
- 41:29like maybe, you know, I don't know what else she is.
- 41:34I mean, I know she's probably acting like some smaller filmed
- 41:37but but she just seems, I guess newer to the whole thing.
- 41:42And yeah, well, I think to the whole way she gets tied into
- 41:46this where she's trying to find her friend.
- 41:50I don't understand why that's so important to her.
- 41:53Yeah, the front the friend thing feels The friend thing, feels
- 42:02real out of place. Now the whole thing with her
- 42:05being Falcone's dog that twisty, that's a Twist.
- 42:10I like and that actually is like, that actually is That
- 42:18actually is from the comics but she doesn't get to confront him
- 42:23in the comics. Not that what happens is, he
- 42:26gets assassinated later on by the Penguin and then like she
- 42:33finds out like years later through like a paternity.
- 42:38Do like some DNA tests like she's, you know, like his
- 42:43daughter or something, right? It's I think it's him.
- 42:48Find here. I just think the friend thing to
- 42:51be her motivation to gain. So this was weak because you're
- 42:55like well, who's this friend? Why should I give a shit?
- 42:58And I have lots of friends and me if they died I'd be sad.
- 43:01But I'm not going to go on my way like this, like hunt down
- 43:04the killer because that's a cop's job and it just seems like
- 43:08if this was a friend who You know, if there was, if you found
- 43:13that lay like the friend, like, saved her from Falcone or
- 43:15something, or a relative or fills her sister or if it was
- 43:20her mother, like there could have been just something else.
- 43:24That makes it more like oh shit. I feel bad for her.
- 43:28She should really do that. It just felt weird and yeah
- 43:32there's you know, there's no, that's the whole problem in that
- 43:39third Act. Is that their fuck no steaks.
- 43:41Because if the rulers already in jail, if you know, you know,
- 43:46Batman's going to be fine by the end of the day, I'm just like,
- 43:50okay Batman Scotty, you know, finish this shit up and that's
- 43:55it. Like there's no stakes and that
- 43:58makes the third I kind of boring then.
- 44:00And I point a sense of like I'm like, literally bored but just
- 44:03not exciting. And whereas, in the beginning,
- 44:07it's very exciting cause you don't know who's going to be
- 44:08killed next and was all those Oh, shit.
- 44:11Going on. But it's just very fell flat
- 44:14there and I don't know what they were thinking, honestly.
- 44:17And with Catwoman, the wrap, my thoughts up with her that woke
- 44:20line. Just pisses me the fuck off
- 44:22because it doesn't need to be in the movie.
- 44:24Yes. Movie I would have like,
- 44:26literally add an extra point or half point.
- 44:28My school, my score for this because it just takes me out of
- 44:31it, and it's stupid. So, let's go, what's died.
- 44:35Let's dive into that specifically, actually, if we,
- 44:39if we met because, again, that's I that one of the reasons why it
- 44:43kind of Falls hard for me too, so that line a bunch of, you
- 44:55know, she makes the comment about how, you know, they're
- 44:58they're a bunch of rich white, you know, men, In Gotham or, you
- 45:05know, or something to that effect, right?
- 45:08Well, it's really, this is the thing is, it's really one word
- 45:12that makes this sting. Yeah, white.
- 45:16If you just said, Richmond or rich people, it would have been
- 45:20fine. Lily, would have been fine, it's
- 45:23still kind of comes out of left field, but it would have been
- 45:24fine. It's a fact that it makes her
- 45:27racial, but yeah, is not necessary and pisses me off
- 45:31because Catwoman throughout Whole thing, she doesn't do any
- 45:37cat but I mean, she does steal money from the criminals.
- 45:40But you don't get the sense that she's this sort of, I hate the
- 45:45Rich or I'm a social justice Warrior.
- 45:49You just get the sense that she's poor trying to make ends
- 45:52meet right. He works for way into the mob
- 45:55and takes their money and that's fine.
- 45:57That is fine. And I like that the fact that
- 46:01they had to make it about rich, white men is Stupid.
- 46:04And I doesn't need to be there and it just talked in my theater
- 46:09to. I was just kind of like fuck
- 46:12this, fuck that. Like, in my head, I'm like that.
- 46:15But one person with you is like like almost sort of cheering at
- 46:19it, but I really nobody else was it was just such a bullshit line
- 46:23and I just don't get it. It's just really annoyed me.
- 46:27But I had to keep saying myself case, just one line.
- 46:30It's just one line is just one lines, just one line, don't let
- 46:33you. Kill the whole movie.
- 46:34But you know, it is what it is. I think the mood be woken.
- 46:39I Don't think it is, but that makes me question and I, if
- 46:44they're mine wasn't there, I wouldn't have to start
- 46:46questioning it. Okay?
- 46:49Okay, so here are my thoughts on online, so because it did bother
- 46:55me too, but it bothered me for a different reason.
- 46:59Well, okay, it bothered me for the same reason and for the
- 47:03different reasons reason to so Which are kind of the same
- 47:08thing, it's kind of weird. So, okay, so that line about,
- 47:15you know, the the rich, you know, people like - the - the
- 47:23one word, which is white that line that she gives is right out
- 47:28of the Long Haul. Weaned like, like, literally -
- 47:33that one word, it's like word. Forward.
- 47:38So I'm like, I'm like I'm like I'm like oh cool like whoever,
- 47:43you know whoever, right? Whoever like wrote the script,
- 47:46like they really did read the comic book like this is cool.
- 47:49And then like she adds in like the white thing.
- 47:52And I'm like, wait wait wait, why, why did they add?
- 47:59Why did they add that? Like, it's basically, like they,
- 48:04it's basically like they took like a perfectly good.
- 48:07Fine, I'm going to that. What do I didn't need to be
- 48:09changed? And what are they part of a
- 48:12comic book? And then just to fit modern-day
- 48:17sensibilities or whatever which was Walter Hamad has doing.
- 48:23He's on his basically like he's the big social justice head
- 48:28honcho at DC now. So and he was an executive
- 48:33producer because I did stay and watch the end credits.
- 48:37And once I saw his name under like executive producer, I'm
- 48:40like I'm like, oh that's where that Line came from but yeah,
- 48:48like it was funny because like, they were there were like in
- 48:53granted, I'm in Florida. So pretty conservative State
- 48:56like they were. There were like, a couple of
- 49:00groans would be like, even like, even from like the even from
- 49:04some of the black people in the theater, like there was, there
- 49:06was this one black guy who actually like, Who like it was
- 49:13like, man. We don't, we don't need to be
- 49:17talking about race in a Batman movie.
- 49:20True. I just, I came here.
- 49:24I came in with my, I came here with my family, this was like
- 49:27afterwards. I over I over time.
- 49:29He's like, he's like, man. I just want, I just want to go
- 49:32to the, to the movies to escape from the war from the world,
- 49:36like not be reminded of all Us in, and that's why pissed.
- 49:41You know, if it's so real. Yeah, I mean, so true because
- 49:46that's kind of tricky thing with this movie.
- 49:47Is on the one hand, it's very reflective of the world, we live
- 49:50in and that's why Y, equals X don't like some.
- 49:53Like I don't want to, I don't want to live in that world the
- 49:55movies. But yeah, that was well, I mean
- 50:02Thing that I would, I the thing I like is that this is that for
- 50:08the most part, I feel like this this movie actually is
- 50:12reflective and like a realistic way of how the world is as
- 50:16opposed to as opposed to like the social justice realm, okay.
- 50:22Roger is whose cat woman falling in love with a rich white man.
- 50:28That's what got me is like right.
- 50:30Start seeing maybe it's not work but now it is woke line but it
- 50:34just is like very ironic that she falls for the rich white
- 50:38male. So well, although and although,
- 50:40in this Parliament album, this version like she doesn't yet
- 50:44know that. Like that Bruce is Batman, which
- 50:48is yeah. Which is kind of interesting
- 50:52because like, she actually like figures out pretty early on in
- 50:57the comic books. The like that, you know, Bruce's
- 51:02is Batman. Oh, okay.
- 51:03So that's my other problem. With the third Act is like the
- 51:07Riddler like basically like basically just like deducing
- 51:14that that Bruce is Batman, that really reduces but then he
- 51:19realizes he were, you think he has, but he really hasn't I
- 51:25don't know if you picked up on that, but that was kind of what
- 51:27happens at the end. Is he thinks youth you the
- 51:31audience thinks he's to do stuff, but he really hasn't.
- 51:36Oh, maybe I'm misreading it but that's kind of how I interpret
- 51:41it. Yeah.
- 51:42Using don't get me wrong. So my thoughts on the?
- 51:51So I have again, I have mixed feelings on that third act
- 51:56because I don't I don't mind the flooding itself because that
- 52:02flooding believe or not is from a store called.
- 52:10No man's land where Gotham Illinois does flood?
- 52:15I think that would be fine if they set it up and it's like, oh
- 52:19God. No sea walls.
- 52:20I didn't fucking know that. Yeah.
- 52:22But they but they didn't it said, well, and the other thing
- 52:26too is like the so in the comic book, basically Gotham gets
- 52:34like, hit by an earthquake, which basically the like, Breaks
- 52:39down the sea walls like no one's, no one's really at fault
- 52:43for it. But just like, you know, because
- 52:46it's like, you know, a natural a, you know, thing that happens
- 52:50but because of that basically like, you know, all the kernels
- 52:55to get like let out, you know, because the power grid like
- 52:59shuts down. So all the criminals break out
- 53:01and basically like Gotham becomes like a big Shit shit.
- 53:05Like if that happened, I would have been okay with the ball.
- 53:09Like the fact like Riddler purposely at the last minute,
- 53:12like makes that happen is just like why?
- 53:18Like honestly understand why he does it.
- 53:20I, his rationale is so that we can have like all the rich
- 53:25people like that. Not rich people, to corrupt
- 53:26people centered in one place. We can shoot them, but it's
- 53:32doesn't make a lot of sense like that, not wouldn't We happen and
- 53:35it probably be protected, so we couldn't do that.
- 53:38And then he has all these like, people come in as just like him
- 53:41and try to shoot them. And it's just a little weird and
- 53:44then they shoot her, the mayor candidate at, who's clearly a
- 53:48progressive. And then she survives, I
- 53:51actually would have thought it would have been so much better
- 53:54because this is my thought. They were going to do, and it
- 53:55surprised me. I wish they killed her.
- 53:58That would have been actually surprising.
- 54:00And it would have been like, oh shit, he actually got her.
- 54:04Even when he was in jail, he got her killed.
- 54:07Basically, the guy that would have been so much cooler, but
- 54:11it's like Alfred he almost dies but dozen, which I was fine with
- 54:13that because we didn't get enough of Alfred but the mayor
- 54:16can ship and killed. Big mistake.
- 54:20I actually, I actually, I actually agree with.
- 54:24I actually agree with you on that.
- 54:28You know. I think I think story-wise that
- 54:33would have worked. I can see why they didn't go
- 54:37that way. Yeah, because because, you know,
- 54:43if they had like black lives matter and Ben Ben, like you
- 54:48kill the backlight off screen and by and by the way, that
- 54:53mayor actually does is actually from the konk konk, but like she
- 54:58comes in much later and A person's career too.
- 55:04And so, okay, so one thing I want to ask you is, what did you
- 55:09think of Gordon in this film? I think the acting was solid,
- 55:17not as good as Gary Oldman, but yeah, I would agree, but Very
- 55:25initiative, really liked it. I liked the relationship but
- 55:28then I realize we're in. Didn't do anything.
- 55:32We did nothing. I asked for liked about the
- 55:35Nolan trilogies that Batman can do his thing and then Gordon can
- 55:40do his thing. And then when they work
- 55:42together, that's where the magic happens.
- 55:45But with this one, Batman does everything and Gordon?
- 55:50Yeah. He lets me in the crime scenes.
- 55:51But Gordon doesn't do anything. Doesn't solve anything.
- 55:54Riddles, he doesn't get anyone or do anything like he's kind of
- 56:00he's not as you lies as I thought he would be nice.
- 56:03He should be. That really was.
- 56:07Disappointing was like a dark night.
- 56:08Like first of all, he fakes his death, and then he literally
- 56:11arrest The Joker. I mean, you feel like and this
- 56:16one, you feel like Gordon is like in an unwinnable battle and
- 56:20he's also kind of like giving up and doesn't do anything weird.
- 56:24isn't Dark Knight, he's kind of you know he's in a tough spot,
- 56:28he's you know, having trouble but he's such a powerful smart,
- 56:35cunning and persisting guy that he cuts through the, the Lagoon
- 56:41and is able to do good things, the thing that I guess also,
- 56:50Kind of bug me about this Gordon a bit.
- 56:54And well, wasn't so much with Gordon and sell, but the way
- 56:59they write with some things, like the fact, like he actually
- 57:03did bring Batman into like the crime scenes with the cops.
- 57:09Like on the room, did kind of bug me a little bit only because
- 57:16in the comics and also like in the Dark Knight trilogy, a bit
- 57:20like Gordon would wait for like cops to Out in the room right by
- 57:26early and then and then bring Batman.
- 57:30Whereas like, where's like this patent is is just like walking
- 57:34around, you know, with the cops on him in like, we're told were
- 57:40told that the Cod that the cops like hate Batman but it's like,
- 57:45well they don't hate him enough because clearly like, they're
- 57:49fine, bloody men. Yeah, Cleo like, they might not
- 57:52be happy to get that. That, you know, he's there but,
- 57:58you know, he's like, why can't I do?
- 58:02The one that makes it less interesting because was
- 58:04interesting in the Dark Knight trilogy and I've ever Batman's
- 58:08that Gordon's like the one God they'll work with Batman.
- 58:12The One Cop the work with Batman.
- 58:14Whereas everybody else hates him because he's this vigilante and
- 58:18Goran is like shit. Like I've no better option.
- 58:20I got work with this guy and so he has kind of under the table
- 58:23work with him. And this is no wonder the table.
- 58:26It's just out in the open. Yeah.
- 58:29This this scene to in the police station, where like, where like
- 58:34they bring them back but they never took off his mask or
- 58:37something. Yeah, I know sets.
- 58:39His first thing I thought was like, oh they're going to find
- 58:42out who he is. Oh no, he saw this mask on.
- 58:44You could argue Gordon stop that but that Siri implied which
- 58:49clearly is kind of what happened, kind of off screen but
- 58:53like But even so, like like they could have been like, no.
- 59:00Like I'm like no Gordon. We're doing it.
- 59:03We're doing it. And anyway and then have like
- 59:05Gordon get into a fight against one of his like that he was that
- 59:09to me would have been much more interesting.
- 59:12What someone someone cracked someone cracked a joke, the on
- 59:18Reddit that like The like Batman hitting Gordon button basically
- 59:24knocking him out is basically what that thing does.
- 59:29Yeah basically does does every time he disappears.
- 59:36Yeah and that's that's why we I mean I do.
- 59:41I do like the fact though that we also get like a Batman who
- 59:45doesn't like quite know how how to like yeah this is You're like
- 59:50that yet and like ya do. Do you like always of them
- 59:55things like you know I like the vulnerable vulnerable Miss to
- 1:00:00him which again the problem against prawns I third act and
- 1:00:03some the other characters that, you know, when you remove those
- 1:00:06steaks it gets boring, but that was what was cool about him, is
- 1:00:08that he's kind of rough around the edges.
- 1:00:11A rookie at this and not very good yet.
- 1:00:14And I thought that was interesting.
- 1:00:16And, you know, even though that cops, you know, scene has some
- 1:00:20problems. One thing I loved was once
- 1:00:24Punches Gordon. He puts that fuckin zip line up
- 1:00:27goes flying up those stairs, beautiful shot like it's epic.
- 1:00:32I love that part and then he gets the rooftop and you're
- 1:00:36like, oh my God, he's gonna fly, he's going to do it.
- 1:00:39And then he's kind of like, oh shit, this is scary.
- 1:00:42This is high up, you know, and you see that it was great acting
- 1:00:46by parents and it's such a small thing, but it's, you could feel
- 1:00:50his fear. And his, you could tell
- 1:00:52mediately know. No words, you could tell he
- 1:00:55hasn't done this before. This is first time doing this,
- 1:00:58like he's completely scared. He's like, you know, that was my
- 1:01:01impression. I mean, maybe he has done it but
- 1:01:03you could tell that he had done this at least a lot.
- 1:01:06You tell you, he was scared to do this and then he would sell
- 1:01:09freaking like um squirrel suit, which I thought was really cool
- 1:01:13because it's very realistic. Now how he crashes his a little
- 1:01:17defying physics because he somehow survives that but that
- 1:01:22was my only problem with that. And I thought his flight was a
- 1:01:25really cool. I wish you went a little bit
- 1:01:27longer but when he crashes, I like that he crash.
- 1:01:31I just didn't like how he crashed.
- 1:01:32Because he literally like fling, some up and hits a fucking like
- 1:01:35metal bridge and he's just fine after that.
- 1:01:38Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:01:38I'm like yeah, that, that was kind of that would tarnish.
- 1:01:45Yeah, that, that was, that was kind of a little ridiculous.
- 1:01:48It in my mom, my mom and I were in the, the next to each other
- 1:01:52and she leans over to me. Amigos, if that were actually in
- 1:01:56real life and he had hit a bridge like that, he'd be dead.
- 1:02:00Yeah. I don't like movies do that.
- 1:02:04Because it's such an easy thing. You could have fixed.
- 1:02:07You could have had some other bullshit way he lands, but it's
- 1:02:11believable. That was just yeah.
- 1:02:14Like I was like, oh, come on like, he would have died from
- 1:02:17that. I mean, that's just was
- 1:02:18ridiculous. Okay.
- 1:02:20So the so the other weird thing kind of Similar to that.
- 1:02:25So Talking about the third acting weird.
- 1:02:30One of the things that, like, one of the things that like, get
- 1:02:35that, like kind of gets me is, there's like a, there's like a
- 1:02:40part in the third act, we're like, we're like Batman gets
- 1:02:46shot in like someplace in his armor.
- 1:02:50Yeah. And like it seems like he's
- 1:02:53critically hit, right? Like puts the adrenaline in the
- 1:02:58Adrenaline and just kind of goes at it.
- 1:03:00Well okay, so that yes that was my question was like was that
- 1:03:05was that reference to like was that just adrenaline and was
- 1:03:09that you know, whatever Bain has and if so often people are
- 1:03:15saying it's what Bane has but I'm not sure well to me to me,
- 1:03:20that would be awesome to me. That would be a one word, it
- 1:03:22ridiculous though, because like, we haven't even because like we
- 1:03:27haven't even, In Benders do strabane.
- 1:03:29Yeah. And and bay bands.
- 1:03:32The one who I like develops. That serum.
- 1:03:34Not Batman. So, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:38That's my problem with that too. Isn't it kind of comes out of
- 1:03:41left field to, which is okay because all those gadgets kind
- 1:03:46of do but it was just a little weird.
- 1:03:51And and I don't understand to like after that again he's
- 1:03:55technically fine. Like I don't Understand the gun
- 1:04:01physics in this. What I mean by that is it seems
- 1:04:03like he can get shot anywhere but the head.
- 1:04:05He's fine. But why was that shot worse than
- 1:04:11others? I mean, there's that one scene
- 1:04:13by scene where he's in that hallway and all the gun Flair is
- 1:04:19lighting up the ring. Exactly.
- 1:04:22And he shot like a hundred times.
- 1:04:24I mean it's really cool. But if he survives that, why Why
- 1:04:28is the shotgun blast like the putting him down?
- 1:04:32Yeah, he's yeah. He's, yeah, thank you, that.
- 1:04:35That's it, guys, that's a guy when I was going to say I like
- 1:04:38heavy machine-gun, fire just bounces off as long as I like no
- 1:04:42problem, no problem. Which it, which is really cool.
- 1:04:46But then you mean to tell me that like that bird shot from a
- 1:04:50shotgun is the thing that like But you know that like cripples
- 1:04:56and basically like you could argue his armor was weakened by
- 1:05:01that point I guess you could argue that.
- 1:05:03But yeah but I mean not I mean I mean yeah I guess so.
- 1:05:11But even even though it's like I would have believed that if it
- 1:05:14were like us if it were like a higher caliber, you know.
- 1:05:18Yeah not birdshot. What have we got?
- 1:05:21What have we got a shot with? So yeah.
- 1:05:26I mean, honestly, so, here's my advice to take that third Act,
- 1:05:36honestly, they could have just ended the movie with like, With
- 1:05:40like, with like Riddler being arrested in the cafe and then
- 1:05:45like maybe setting things up for like the future and that's how
- 1:05:50they could have ended the movie. I wouldn't I would have been
- 1:05:53fine with that and then maybe doing the flooding or whatever
- 1:05:57doing that third act like as the beginning of Batman too.
- 1:06:04Well there, I think the problem is that the river became People
- 1:06:12that they could surprise you with to kill.
- 1:06:14So they just went for the whole fucking City getting flooded and
- 1:06:18that mayor can again she's I mean, she's kind of brought up
- 1:06:20become forget about her. I would have like some sort of
- 1:06:24surprise with the Riddler at the end that was the promise of
- 1:06:26really wasn't. And that, that Roy gets the
- 1:06:29general problem with this movie is that, there's nothing to blew
- 1:06:31me away. There's nothing really new or
- 1:06:34fresh. I mean, was it a fresh take on
- 1:06:36Batman? Kind of like we hadn't seen
- 1:06:38sunscreen before, but as you said, It's very Comics accurate.
- 1:06:41There's nothing that blew me away.
- 1:06:43This is really to be alive. I just need to be one thing.
- 1:06:46It could have been some sort of good twist at the end.
- 1:06:48It could have been some sort of good surprise kill or something.
- 1:06:52I don't know what it would have been.
- 1:06:53I mean I'll be honest but that is what it needs to really sell
- 1:06:57me at the end of it. The serial killer from The
- 1:07:00Riddler did kind of Blow Me Away only because I'm like wow that's
- 1:07:06new. We've never actually seen
- 1:07:08Riddler get his hands. Dirty dirty before really.
- 1:07:14So I did like I did like that Alan.
- 1:07:16But again, just I feel like You know, I honestly like in this is
- 1:07:23something that unfortunately has happened while since the Dark
- 1:07:27Knight is. I feel like Heath Ledger set the
- 1:07:31bar so high. Yeah.
- 1:07:34That like that they kind of try to make rid of learn to like
- 1:07:39want to be Joker with like the high-stakes huh at the end
- 1:07:43because I'm like I'm like those. I'm like those high stakes to
- 1:07:46destroy the city like that's not a riddle and thing to do.
- 1:07:50That's a joke or thing. Yeah and it's just again that
- 1:07:5453. I just feel so like different
- 1:07:57from the rest of them. Very ironic.
- 1:08:00I mean, it feels like somebody different Road.
- 1:08:02It's just so weird. yeah, ironically, even though it's
- 1:08:11even though it's You know, even though it's like a three hour
- 1:08:19movie that third act feels like they rushed through it almost.
- 1:08:24So yeah, and I mean, I think they were like, sort of trying
- 1:08:29to get this argh with Batman because at the end of the to I
- 1:08:33kind of felt and I see it. Now, by kind of felt like what
- 1:08:37was the point of all that? Well, what's the theme here?
- 1:08:41What's the message here? I I was kind of just confused.
- 1:08:45I'm like, well what The point of all that, like, okay, there's
- 1:08:49this case that they don't really solve it, and they kind of do
- 1:08:55it. Just was like, very strange.
- 1:08:59And I have realized later that the point was a Batman is kind
- 1:09:02of trying to figure out who he is and what he's got to do, but
- 1:09:07they didn't explore it enough and they could have because
- 1:09:10there were things could have caught and they could have and I
- 1:09:13think they could have done something more They're like some
- 1:09:17sort of kill or something that makes Batman, confront that idea
- 1:09:20more. I mean, it could have been just
- 1:09:24more creative. I think that's really what I'm
- 1:09:26trying to say. Is that yeah, very sort of lazy
- 1:09:29typical Hollywood and not interesting or creative, which
- 1:09:31the rest of the movie was shaping towards that?
- 1:09:35Well, well, the one thing I didn't like about this about
- 1:09:39this movie either. Is that like, Okay, so, So this
- 1:09:47Alfred right? We don't want to get.
- 1:09:49We don't really get like a lot of screen time with Alfred.
- 1:09:53Right? Yeah.
- 1:09:54And I think there was fine but I would have liked more I mean so
- 1:10:00okay. So my whole thing was they
- 1:10:04should have given Alfred slightly more screen time.
- 1:10:07If they were going to kill, you know like do the assassination
- 1:10:12attempt thing like like they did because like, Okay so the one
- 1:10:20thing I love about the Dark Knight trilogy aside from
- 1:10:25Christian Bale is Michael came, it's not perfect.
- 1:10:29Michael Caine is the perfect Alfred and like they actually
- 1:10:34they actually give the Alfred a lot to do in those movies.
- 1:10:38Like he's actually like He's actually like a, you know, a you
- 1:10:43know, he I mean, he's, he's Bruce's thought father, you
- 1:10:48know, in this, you know in those movies and he is here but to but
- 1:10:53I feel like he just plays like the I'm Batman's butler /
- 1:10:58assistant, you know. So like when he got you know,
- 1:11:06when he went like he was in the hospital like yeah, those
- 1:11:09steaks, kind of fun. Those things were there but it's
- 1:11:13only because like it's Alfred and we know that I was supposed
- 1:11:17to be those steaks, like it would have been much higher.
- 1:11:20If that had been like Michael Caine's Alfred, you know, that
- 1:11:25was like a quintessential, you know, actually had like more
- 1:11:29character development, you know. The one thing I will say that I
- 1:11:33liked that was a good twist that that, that really got everybody.
- 1:11:38My theater is when you hear that phone ringing.
- 1:11:41Everybody's like a for. Don't pick up the phone for,
- 1:11:44don't know, to pick up the phone, like a, for whatever you
- 1:11:47do. Don't open that letter.
- 1:11:47Pick up the phone. Pick up the phone.
- 1:11:49Come on, come on. But then you realize The
- 1:11:53Batman's actually calling that woman.
- 1:11:56I don't remember who she was and not actually Alfred.
- 1:12:00I thought that was really well done because you thought he was
- 1:12:02trying to call him and he wasn't picking up for whatever reason,
- 1:12:05right? I thought that was really good,
- 1:12:09but then again, you know, it's one of those things that, like
- 1:12:13you said, you didn't get enough. Emotional investment of
- 1:12:16Alfred's, really feel. It other than just like, oh my
- 1:12:19God, it's Alfred so I just then, that's why, I guess why mixed
- 1:12:24feelings as movies. Because there's so many things I
- 1:12:25like and then there's a good chunk of things.
- 1:12:28It just bugged me. Yeah.
- 1:12:31I mean, so, I mean, in general, I would still write it, you
- 1:12:35know, pretty high, you know. Maybe now I like, I would, I
- 1:12:41would still get like a 9. Maybe not like a 915 again, you
- 1:12:46know? Still like this is like
- 1:12:49everything I wanted. And everything I wanted in the
- 1:12:54Batman movie. I got which you know like we got
- 1:12:59the TRU like film, Noir setting. We got the detective story and
- 1:13:07you know those old ones were like ones that you know I think
- 1:13:11everyone wanted and we got all the characters are were strong
- 1:13:16and you know. Yeah other than that line.
- 1:13:19It wasn't. It wasn't to woke and I really
- 1:13:24hope that like I really do hope that like Hollywood continues to
- 1:13:27realize the like that. That's the direction to trend is
- 1:13:31like was woke because like I guess here's my thing is like
- 1:13:40this the Star Wars Trilogy the new one that does neutrality is
- 1:13:45the woke assist. Shit I've ever seen.
- 1:13:50And so my my my kind of skip the scale now is Is not so much.
- 1:13:59Is woke. Its well, is it Disney levels of
- 1:14:03woke? And it was not like I can hide
- 1:14:06it. All right it.
- 1:14:08So Mmm. Well I think too that the
- 1:14:14technical stuff they nailed completely nailed.
- 1:14:17Oh yeah across the board. It's the Characters.
- 1:14:22They mostly nail the storytelling and the plot, which
- 1:14:27is most important thing is Brad the issues.
- 1:14:30So I just it kind of frustrating me for that reason, is because
- 1:14:36in this point, because it had everything they are, like, most
- 1:14:40of the ingredients were there. It's I just don't understand why
- 1:14:43it couldn't stick The Landing at the end.
- 1:14:45I yeah, I do kind of feel like also, you can you mention In the
- 1:14:51Batmobile I feel like I feel like that scene was way too
- 1:14:55short or if I feel like they could.
- 1:14:58I feel like they could have used the Batman that Batmobile just
- 1:15:01more in general. What what look wise that is my
- 1:15:05that's my favorite Batmobile on on screen.
- 1:15:11But we didn't we didn't get enough of it in my, in my book.
- 1:15:15Oh yeah. I think it's one of the biggest
- 1:15:19fan of its looks but I think like you said was kind of
- 1:15:24underused, I mean II mean. I like it.
- 1:15:28The one thing that the bug me about The Dark Knight trilogy
- 1:15:32was, was the was the tumbler, or whatever.
- 1:15:36It's called. Because I'm like, because I'm
- 1:15:39like yeah, no there's no way that thing would real it would
- 1:15:43realistically be going on like the roads without like crushing,
- 1:15:48you know, like not even like Not even like, you know, like on
- 1:15:53purpose but what just like crushing rhinos, civilian cars
- 1:15:57and what not like, you know, so to me like that, man, having
- 1:16:02like a souped-up, a sports car. Just seemed like, much more
- 1:16:06realistic. I don't know.
- 1:16:08I like the concept of it. I think the design is a little
- 1:16:11goofy with, like, the engine sticking out the back and I
- 1:16:15think it like, like I said, it's kind of fine, but it just I like
- 1:16:21about the Tumblers that if it makes a lot of sense because
- 1:16:24it's this armored vehicle, or he's actually pursue protected.
- 1:16:28I mean, this one. Yeah, it's got the book Proof
- 1:16:30glass, but others should could easily be shot.
- 1:16:33Its didn't make the most sense in a lot of ways.
- 1:16:36Well, and willens supposedly to like, keep in mind, this is
- 1:16:41Batman very early on is great. So, what Matt Reeves has said,
- 1:16:45is that, like, we're going to get upgrades over time?
- 1:16:50Yeah. And that's why I was suspecting
- 1:16:51and that's why I hope for two was stuff, too.
- 1:16:57So, Well, great, man. Any final thoughts.
- 1:17:03Any thoughts? Just done movies in general, I
- 1:17:08guess. Well, the last thing I'll say,
- 1:17:11is, what do you think of the uses in their Bona song?
- 1:17:15I, well, I mean, I'm kind of from the generation that likes
- 1:17:22Nirvana. I don't know if it's, I don't
- 1:17:25know, if Zoomer. If zoomy zoom, whirs are into.
- 1:17:31Orange a Nirvana, a lot of them have the T-shirt, but don't know
- 1:17:35what the hell it is. You know, I was kind of worried
- 1:17:41about it because I was kind of like, oh, great just another
- 1:17:49just another excuse to use, a Nirvana song for an install.
- 1:17:54But the, but the way they the way they like Incorporated in,
- 1:17:59it was actually like It like it wasn't like amazing, but I think
- 1:18:09it fit well and this. So I think it definitely was
- 1:18:15something different for Batman. Least it kind of works.
- 1:18:19It didn't take me, you know, I didn't hate it.
- 1:18:23I kind of, I like that. The first time it was used.
- 1:18:28I think it was fine. I probably if I were directing
- 1:18:32this movie probably would have done it, but the second time it
- 1:18:35was used as the end that's were, didn't really work so much for
- 1:18:41me? Yeah.
- 1:18:42Because it's supposed to be a hopeful moment.
- 1:18:45But what it's just didn't really Jive well with me at the end.
- 1:18:51Why I'm glad they use something in the, in the way as opposed to
- 1:18:55something like, you know, Smells Like Teen Spirit or, you know,
- 1:19:00something that's like, I mean, something in the way is a pot is
- 1:19:04like, you know, I guess a popular song.
- 1:19:06Well, I mean that whole nevermind album is but like I
- 1:19:09guess I'm glad they, they use that song off of it as most like
- 1:19:15Something else. You know what?
- 1:19:17I meet you. I think we're super well in the
- 1:19:19trailer. Like it's perfect in the
- 1:19:20trailer. I just think it's didn't It
- 1:19:27didn't fit the second. I do use it once or been fine
- 1:19:30with it. Fact, they use again.
- 1:19:32Maybe kind of like yeah. I got to see this movie again.
- 1:19:35To really have better opinions but I also think again going
- 1:19:40back to Bruce a bit, it makes it feel a little bit to email a
- 1:19:43little bit too. Like I said, Bruce beings.
- 1:19:46I joked about with you. I'm like, you seems like an
- 1:19:48email with the hair like, I called it and other people said
- 1:19:53that after, I think they did a little too much it It was just a
- 1:19:57and I get these. Yeah, it's just a little too
- 1:20:01much. There was, I think he displayed
- 1:20:03the depression extremely well with the sort of quiet, you
- 1:20:08know, those spoken voice. Sort of way.
- 1:20:12Like I said, his acting wasn't the problem, I just think it was
- 1:20:16you didn't see enough of his pain in a more colorful way that
- 1:20:21would have shown more sides to. It felt very sore one, Channel.
- 1:20:28And that's that that is one thing.
- 1:20:31Like I kind of hope we get in future films to like like the
- 1:20:39like like the white one thing I hate that they do with Robert
- 1:20:43with like Robert Pattinson is. They always do this thing where
- 1:20:47like in all of his movies they give him like this messy hair
- 1:20:51lock and it bothers me. Because like, in real life, you
- 1:20:57know, when he's just Robert Pattinson.
- 1:20:59He actually you know like he he act like is his hairstyle I
- 1:21:05guess is like Not like super quaffed, but it's like it's
- 1:21:10normal. Right?
- 1:21:11Like, yeah, he's very presentable like, and he's, you
- 1:21:15know, rare like, you know, very straight, very you know, waft.
- 1:21:21Like, I mean, obviously he's British.
- 1:21:23So it kind of goes along with that but like, I'm hung, like,
- 1:21:27why, why did they feel the need to, like, you know, emo, you
- 1:21:32know, do like the whole like, You know, grunge look like yeah,
- 1:21:36well, because the Ruiz really felt that he was writing
- 1:21:40Batman's Kurt Cobain which is fine but like I said, it's over
- 1:21:45done. Yeah.
- 1:21:46I mean like emotionally emotionally yes, I get that
- 1:21:50little bit like but likewise like, you know, have Batman.
- 1:21:54Won't go have Bruce look a little bit, like a billionaire a
- 1:21:58little bit. Well that was the thing.
- 1:22:00He felt like just a kid. He yeah I get he's younger but
- 1:22:03he I feel like a rich kid. He felt like a grungy,
- 1:22:08middle-class kid, you know, or even a in really feel rich.
- 1:22:13Until he shows up to a funeral, you know, that soup.
- 1:22:15But yeah, I totally agree. Yeah, it's just and that's,
- 1:22:21that's literally my whole feelings of this is it just
- 1:22:23doesn't quite work as well as I wanted to, which I, which I am
- 1:22:27hoping that like. So, you know, the one thing that
- 1:22:30like I'm kind of hoping to is like, you know, I think that I
- 1:22:36think Bruce / Batman kind of realize that he needs to like
- 1:22:40you know do more to have like a positive influence like and I
- 1:22:44would love to see that too in like and that tend to like may
- 1:22:48see maybe see like that an orm know maybe so like, Bruce have
- 1:22:53like a few you know, board meetings at like Wayne
- 1:22:56Enterprises or something a lot like Like that, like You Did in
- 1:23:00the Dark Knight trilogy, you know, like have that side of
- 1:23:05like Bruce Wayne as like the shrewd businessman to so well
- 1:23:11that's what's kind of weird like I said, his Batman I think is
- 1:23:16perfect like it's great. The Bruce didn't feel like Bruce
- 1:23:22enough, like I get the difference of that I liked it,
- 1:23:25it was different but it didn't feel like a different Bruce it
- 1:23:28just Like somebody else if they had like because you like, you
- 1:23:33say he doesn't. He's Rich at all.
- 1:23:36I just don't, I feel like he was just worried like left with this
- 1:23:42money and that's it. And which I guess is the
- 1:23:47situation. He is in but it didn't feel like
- 1:23:51he had other responsibilities for.
- 1:23:52Like, I know that one girl makes that line, but you didn't get
- 1:23:55this sense of like dude. You got a company to run.
- 1:23:58You gotta do this. Gotta do that in feel like he
- 1:24:01had any Bruce responsibilities so he could be Batman all the
- 1:24:05time. You know?
- 1:24:07Yeah. Well he does say that he doesn't
- 1:24:10like hair like his fortune or something, right?
- 1:24:14Yeah. Alfred And like, I'm kind of
- 1:24:17hoping that that changes because, like, I don't mind, I
- 1:24:21don't mind like grungy email Bruce, like, you know, here,
- 1:24:25like, you know, it's Batman your one Batman here to, you know,
- 1:24:29find like he's kind of young. I'm hoping though that like
- 1:24:33along with Batman's, you know, character kind of involvement,
- 1:24:36like, you got, like, a more mature, Bruce Wayne and Future
- 1:24:40films. Because, although, because like,
- 1:24:43otherwise, it's not gonna, You know, like it's just not going
- 1:24:48to be Batman. So right now I think building to
- 1:24:52that's interesting, which is again, why?
- 1:24:54I like how they started this way, but it would if they add
- 1:24:58some scenes like let's say, business Executives calling him
- 1:25:04or him having to show up to Wayne Enterprise one day, you
- 1:25:08would have gotten that sense that he didn't want to do this
- 1:25:12or he's at a board meeting board leaves.
- 1:25:16No, something because it feels like Very sort of mid Arc with
- 1:25:21him, like, you don't really feel like you're starting out
- 1:25:24somewhere. You can't figure.
- 1:25:25I inserted a little too much, you know, if they'd thrown you
- 1:25:30in where he's, you know, he's trying to do that stuff but then
- 1:25:35doesn't want to realize it's like, yeah, this really isn't
- 1:25:37what I want to do. What am a lot more sense.
- 1:25:43Yeah, that's all my thoughts. I encourage people to see throw
- 1:25:48in theaters. It's awesome, theater
- 1:25:49experience. I saw in the sadly app move
- 1:25:52steered is really awesome and so you can really feel the
- 1:25:55atmosphere. I says, lots of like, but
- 1:25:59there's enough things to dislike the, the don't that make this
- 1:26:04one kind of good, but not great or amazing film.
- 1:26:08For me. One thing that I love in this
- 1:26:11movie too. Aside from.
- 1:26:16Aside from the music, is the use of sound effects.
- 1:26:20So it's great and it's like, well, stuff is just amazing.
- 1:26:23It specifically like that the use of like Batman's, you know,
- 1:26:29footsteps to I like how they were like dark and brooding and
- 1:26:32like, you know, you can before even see before you even see
- 1:26:37him. Like you can hear him, you know,
- 1:26:40like enter room and like, you know, Kronos just start, you
- 1:26:43know, panicking. You know, I like he's not like,
- 1:26:47he's not like doing any of the weird stuff like, you know,
- 1:26:50jumping in through the ceiling or anything like that.
- 1:26:53Royal in the film he's just like, walking into a room and
- 1:26:57already people are like, you know, nervous that that's great
- 1:27:02too. But yeah, I mean, again go and
- 1:27:04see this movie, you know, in theaters.
- 1:27:08If you can it is it is worth money.
- 1:27:13I'm hoping that they do like the when they do release I'm hoping
- 1:27:18that they do. Good transfer of this film.
- 1:27:22Mmm. Yeah and I agree with the more
- 1:27:26he, the way he'd walk is fantastic.
- 1:27:29And his I acting because it's hard to act in the batsuit
- 1:27:34because you can't really see most of his face, but the acting
- 1:27:38he does through his eyes and his glares, looks is fantastic.
- 1:27:42And the way the codes, It's super close up.
- 1:27:44Like it. Really do feel like you're in
- 1:27:46the room with him. It really does a lot of that
- 1:27:50stuff. So, well, I do like, I will say,
- 1:27:53I do like the suit to, I know. I know that some people don't
- 1:27:58like it but I actually really like this one.
- 1:28:01Oh, I love the suit. Yeah, I really did.
- 1:28:04I don't want it may be the one thing that I think is better
- 1:28:08than the, no one's was a suit. I don't want to actually say
- 1:28:11that fish we applied safe. There's one thing if I had to
- 1:28:14pick one thing. That's like the one thing I'd
- 1:28:15Peg, I did love how his batarang or bat-knife wherever you want
- 1:28:20to call. It is a functional part on the
- 1:28:24sea. Like the bat.
- 1:28:25Emblem is a functional part. It's not just there for show
- 1:28:28like, that's where he puts his power ring.
- 1:28:29That was really cool. And someone seen Troy quick, but
- 1:28:32I know son. I loved it.
- 1:28:35Yeah, I know. I like, I like that too.
- 1:28:42I like that too. That like that like the back
- 1:28:44crust is actually a, you know, is actually like a functional
- 1:28:49thing and that's actually depending on which conch version
- 1:28:52you read bad sex for like another.
- 1:28:54Another thing to in the ideas the Colonel's see that symbol
- 1:28:58one. They shoot that symbol but it
- 1:29:02you know it's like heavily enforced so does nothing right.
- 1:29:08And I really I actually and I know that, like, I know that I'm
- 1:29:16going to probably get some hate but like I actually like this
- 1:29:19suit better than the more than like the known suit because like
- 1:29:24early on in the Nolan Trilogy like I thought Batman's first it
- 1:29:29was fine, then once they ended up into the Dark Knight and the
- 1:29:33Dark Knight Rises, I feel like they tried to make him more like
- 1:29:37a military-type. You know.
- 1:29:40Batman. As was like a detective lurking
- 1:29:43in the shadows. You Now, into the back of it.
- 1:29:47Well, I like that. Both those takes on saying that.
- 1:29:50That's why I still like this Moon.
- 1:29:53I wish it was improved is because I love how these were
- 1:29:57told to to similar yet. Very different takes on him.
- 1:30:01Yeah. And they both work well in their
- 1:30:03own ways, it's just to me, the overall story acting music in
- 1:30:11the darkness Superior even though except the music.
- 1:30:13This is really good. The acting is really good, it's
- 1:30:17just not at that level, especially the story and the
- 1:30:20plot. If the plan, the story had a wow
- 1:30:24factor at the end of it, I would have read the so much higher
- 1:30:28cut. The woke shit have some sort of
- 1:30:30wow factor ending that simple but blows you away like the
- 1:30:33ending of 7 would have sold me. Yeah, and that's how this could
- 1:30:37have been powerful but it lacks that powerful punch at the end
- 1:30:41which makes it a little Hollow for me a little just But one
- 1:30:47thing I did get from this I thought and this is the last
- 1:30:50thing I finally say, they make back man feel so much more like
- 1:30:54a freaking this, you know, I don't know if you got that Vibe
- 1:30:57but I was conscious like it's motherfuckers walking on the bat
- 1:31:00Sig. This guy's this is like you kind
- 1:31:02of step back and think how crazy this actually is, and how?
- 1:31:06Yeah, I'll say, so, in negative way, but yours like, this is
- 1:31:09like and this guy's got issues and I thought that was really
- 1:31:12good. Well, yeah.
- 1:31:15I thought that was really good. And this side characters the way
- 1:31:18they act like this freaking to the crime scene.
- 1:31:22You know, like that source of help build it really well, it
- 1:31:24means that was the one thing that was really good.
- 1:31:27Well and and that's one thing I that that is one thing that I
- 1:31:31Supply on that I liked about this one is like yeah, clearly
- 1:31:36Bruce Wayne like you know, eating it even like the comic
- 1:31:39books. Like the only Bruce Wayne has
- 1:31:42issues, you know? He he Is up in a giant bat suit,
- 1:31:47you know, and fight. Which again, is one reason why I
- 1:31:51think that the whole Which again is one reason why I think the
- 1:31:56whole you know walking just like I would love to see that Ensign
- 1:32:03face off against walking's Joker because I kind of feel like in a
- 1:32:08weird way they're opposite but they are kind of similar.
- 1:32:13You know what I mean? We're like they're both kind of
- 1:32:15slightly unhinged mentally and so I think that would just be
- 1:32:20really fun to watch but I do. Yeah, I agree.
- 1:32:28Then kind of the other thing I like in this film is that we
- 1:32:35don't, we don't actually see the murder, the murder of Thomas and
- 1:32:40Martha Wayne in this film. Yeah.
- 1:32:43And I like the Batman is also kind of established.
- 1:32:46We don't need we don't need yet. Another origin story of Batman.
- 1:32:52Yeah, nah. I like that too.
- 1:32:55I like that. It it knows what it is and again
- 1:32:57that's part of what it does differently.
- 1:32:59Is that it's almost like an episode of Batman.
- 1:33:02It's a comic number 76, a Batman.
- 1:33:06It's not his origin story. Yeah.
- 1:33:11I guess what? There's a lot of things to this
- 1:33:12music is different. I really like I genuinely do.
- 1:33:16Yeah. So but I'm I well I guess we'll
- 1:33:21have to, you know, see what happens in the future.
- 1:33:29I was there will be a Trilogy. Apparently, that's what I've
- 1:33:31heard. Oh yeah, there's going to be a
- 1:33:34Trilogy. The other thing too, I know it's
- 1:33:38a bit light, you know, kind of Not right, not like right now
- 1:33:43but one thing I am going to do is I'm going to do a review of
- 1:33:48Dune at some point and I would love to remind you, you know, I
- 1:33:55will be all giddy to do that. I would, I would love to have
- 1:34:00you on for that particularly because like, I never took you
- 1:34:04as like, a dune guy but I never read the book.
- 1:34:08I knew nothing about it. Well not Not not.
- 1:34:11Well, neither did I, yeah, I mean, I literally came in that
- 1:34:17movie cold, I wanted to, that's the thing, like, I was thinking
- 1:34:20reading the book before, but I decided not to because I want to
- 1:34:23experience the film as much as like to its fullest potential.
- 1:34:28I'm such a big Denis fan. I he's my favorite director to
- 1:34:34nobody except Christopher Nolan, comes close.
- 1:34:37And I say favorite and favorite working living director.
- 1:34:41He is by far my favorite and after sicario arrival and Blade
- 1:34:47Runner, I'm just like this guy doesn't miss and he gets better
- 1:34:51and better. So I came into this with high
- 1:34:54expectations but I was like, I know this is going to be good.
- 1:34:56I'm just wanting how good it was and when I saw them like that
- 1:35:00was pretty good II. Thought it was little.
- 1:35:04I didn't think of this Sorry I had first thought wasn't as good
- 1:35:14as I thought I was going to be but then the more I thought
- 1:35:16about it, I loved it. It grew on me pretty quickly.
- 1:35:20Yeah. Same here.
- 1:35:24And I did do an initial review, I like way back when, but I
- 1:35:27never uploaded it and and it actually I cleaned up my
- 1:35:32computer and actually got like deleted by accident.
- 1:35:35So So, I mean, now now that the digital now like the digital
- 1:35:41copy is out in like I've had, you know I'm on spring break
- 1:35:46this week so I'm probably going to re-watch it again and so and
- 1:35:51so yeah I think actually doing a review like a few months later
- 1:35:54and like, you know, how good is it?
- 1:35:56Really? You know, is it has improved has
- 1:36:01not improved. So I'm going to be doing that
- 1:36:03and I would love to have you on. Oh absolutely.
- 1:36:06I'd love to. And then now that everyone's
- 1:36:10seen well, now that almost everyone has seen Yellowstone.
- 1:36:14I'm probably going to do a Yellow Stone review at one at
- 1:36:18some point to have to get fell for that once I've not seen.
- 1:36:24Oh yeah. Oh do you want to talk?
- 1:36:28I show that is like totally based no political correctness
- 1:36:32whatsoever Yellowstone. My nigga Yeah.
- 1:36:38Off the hopefully I can find some time in a month or so to
- 1:36:43check it out because I feel like I would like I like having a
- 1:36:47house and yeah. So but am I well you know, I
- 1:36:53know, I know it's light and you know we've been going for about
- 1:36:59an hour and a half so I don't want I don't want to do like a
- 1:37:01three-hour show like we did for for our bond, you know?
- 1:37:06From On show although that was fun.
- 1:37:10But anyway well where can people find you now?
- 1:37:14Sean, you're gone from Twitter. That's a good question.
- 1:37:21Yeah, I think the only places you can find me is.
- 1:37:26Yeah and all the uncensored. America's should you go to
- 1:37:32uncensor america.you? S.
- 1:37:34That is the website for my organization.
- 1:37:36My Free Speech organization. That's kind of what I just the
- 1:37:40only thing I can tweet out of now and operate from the
- 1:37:43accounts for that. But my personal stuff, it's only
- 1:37:46on Gavin. I don't worry use it much
- 1:37:48because Gap is pretty boring, frankly.
- 1:37:51As much as I love the product, it's just the people on it are
- 1:37:57boring and it's an echo chamber, but yeah, I'm on Facebook,
- 1:38:02that's that's it really big bolts.
- 1:38:05Mites were taken away really. Just I miss it but hope
- 1:38:10hopefully it'll be on true social.
- 1:38:13I actually think well I'm in the wingless for that.
- 1:38:17Yeah. So am I and after the podcast so
- 1:38:22I'll talk to you because I actually have an idea for sure
- 1:38:26were you maybe? But will what get what the good
- 1:38:30people go. So thanks, everyone who tuned in
- 1:38:34for this review. I'll probably have A second
- 1:38:39review part of this, getting some opinions from some other
- 1:38:43people. But in the meantime, God was
- 1:38:48God's of this great nation Godfrey democracy in that order
