- 1:08Speaker 1: You can forget about this one. Say good night to
- 1:10Speaker 1: it as he drives it over the bullpen wall. Kimball
- 1:15Speaker 1: Shusler with his flir in the whole run of the season,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and it's seven.
- 1:19Speaker 2: To two Texas.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Here's a stretch now, the one ball, two stripe pitch
- 1:23Speaker 1: coming to easton Winfield and he swings here and hits
- 1:26Speaker 1: the ball well out toward deep left center back with
- 1:29Speaker 1: kerry to the warning track and it's off the front
- 1:32Speaker 1: fencing of the jetty yard. Jaque Stewart around third headed

- 1:44Speaker 2: It eight to two.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Here's a one ball, one stripe pitch to Mendoz and

- 1:53Speaker 1: Of the way down the lines, so we just kept
- 1:54Speaker 1: steaming home and he scores. It's nine to two Texas.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Here's a stretch now from floors to look back to
- 1:59Speaker 1: second of the pitch. This is a line shot clocked
- 2:03Speaker 1: excellent diving grabb by Jalen floors in the whole that's
- 2:07Speaker 1: will in the inning.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Here's the pitch swung.
- 2:09Speaker 1: All that's gonna be lined into the alley left center field.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Two runs will score on the play. Mendoza digs per
- 2:16Speaker 1: second an RBI doubled from Ethan Mendoza to scored Jonah
- 2:20Speaker 1: Williams and Easton Winfield and the long Horns down lead
- 2:24Speaker 1: at eleven to two. Aiden Moffett looks in. Now here's
- 2:28Speaker 1: the stretch from Moffatt in the right handers. One ball,
- 2:30Speaker 1: two strike, pitch to Edwards, strike three call, and that
- 2:35Speaker 1: will do it. The Long Horns will win this one
- 2:39Speaker 1: on the ten run mercy role. The strikeouts of Parker
- 2:43Speaker 1: Edwards ends the ball game aide. Moffatt hits a batter,
- 2:47Speaker 1: walks a batter, and then strikes out the side to
- 2:51Speaker 1: end this game. In the top of the seventh, no runs,
- 2:55Speaker 1: no hits, two left. Final score in seven innings the
- 2:59Speaker 1: jacksas Long Oorns two twelve the eight CU Huskies two.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It was a little bit different look last night at
- 3:08Speaker 1: fair at the Ballpark for Texas and the log Horns
- 3:14Speaker 1: run ruling a good Houston Christian team. By the way,
- 3:17Speaker 1: this wasn't the team that came in last year that
- 3:19Speaker 1: the log Horns beat twenty to three. This was one
- 3:25Speaker 1: that was on top of the Southern Conference standings coming
- 3:28Speaker 1: in at twenty and ten coming in. But the Loghorns
- 3:32Speaker 1: with that six run second blowing the game open and
- 3:34Speaker 1: they go on to get the win. They're now twenty
- 3:36Speaker 1: seven and four, leaving tomorrow for Lexing, Kentucky, another road series.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Of course, the long Horns has swept their first two
- 3:43Speaker 1: roads series in Starkville and in Columbia. This one will
- 3:47Speaker 1: be more difficult playing in Lexing, Kentucky. Good afternoon, everybody.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Welcome to the program here on sports Radio AM thirteen
- 3:55Speaker 1: hundred The Zone. My name is Craig Way. Glad to
- 3:57Speaker 1: have you with us, Always good to be with you.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I can't tell you the last time I had two
- 4:03Speaker 1: consecutive days in the studio.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It was nice. Same story for the producer Cameron D. Parker.
- 4:09Speaker 1: The D on the bursar TI gets stands for Dallas
- 4:10Speaker 1: as in his favorite pro football team he hasn't paid
- 4:13Speaker 1: attention to in months. But I don't know what the
- 4:17Speaker 1: D would stand uh on the on a master's par
- 4:21Speaker 1: three day Dunlop you know the will Max fly golf.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Balls he used to hit.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They used to hit the old dunlop Max fly golf balls.
- 4:29Speaker 1: They still make Max fly, don't they.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I think so?
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, people, Now obviously my send for Dunk Dik because
- 4:38Speaker 3: Kicking Browley just dunked one in. Uh there's a hole
- 4:41Speaker 3: on the sixth for the only hole in one I
- 4:43Speaker 3: think so far, so it would be anything. But it
- 4:46Speaker 3: is a Wednesday at the Masters, and or one day
- 4:49Speaker 3: away from from meaningful golf.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I cannot wait.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, the the par three Challenge as they call it,
- 4:55Speaker 1: is underway today at Augusta is is. I guess they
- 5:01Speaker 1: still keep score of it, don't they. You several guys
- 5:04Speaker 1: kind of decube themselves by letting their kids hit or.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yeah, the first shot of the par three contest was
- 5:08Speaker 3: Jordan Speith and he let his son Sammy hit the
- 5:10Speaker 3: first shot, so he immediately disqualified himself from from the competition.
- 5:15Speaker 3: But yeah, right now, Nicholas Echavaria from Columbia, actually right
- 5:20Speaker 3: now is time for the lead with JJ Spahn.
- 5:23Speaker 2: So there's guys out there that are competing.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Then you got like Bubba Watson, Marco Meira, you know
- 5:27Speaker 3: guys who have no shot actually winning the Masters. Who
- 5:30Speaker 3: are you know, participating in this contest not really caring
- 5:33Speaker 3: about the chinks or not. But then you know, most
- 5:35Speaker 3: of the guys who you think you would contend or
- 5:38Speaker 3: would want to win, like Scotty, like Spieth, like Roy,
- 5:42Speaker 3: you know, they will disqualify themselves, which is basically just
- 5:45Speaker 3: letting their wife or girlfriend or their their young one
- 5:48Speaker 3: hit a shot so that does not count toward their
- 5:50Speaker 3: score total.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I gotcha.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Okay, So, uh, Bubba Watson is a former champion, two
- 5:58Speaker 1: time champion, yep, So you're saying he has no shot.
- 6:01Speaker 3: No, Bubba Watson has not played any good golf and
- 6:03Speaker 3: I don't know five years, okay.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I mean he's a live tour guy now, isn't he?
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah he is, okay, getting that guaranteed check to not
- 6:10Speaker 3: do anything successful at all on that tour.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:13Speaker 3: The current position right now is thirty six in the
- 6:16Speaker 3: live golf standings. I think there's only like sixty golfers
- 6:18Speaker 3: on there, so I'm.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Not doing yeah, yeah, okay, all right, all right, so
- 6:23Speaker 1: he has no shot. So you know, obviously all the
- 6:30Speaker 1: eyes are certainly going to be on Scottie Scheffler and
- 6:32Speaker 1: maybe on Rory McElroy because you know it's the one
- 6:36Speaker 1: major that he has yet to claim. Correct, He's won
- 6:40Speaker 1: all the other majors, Rory, he.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Needs the green jack to jacket to complete the career
- 6:45Speaker 2: Grand Slam.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Okay, I have always found this intriguing, if not fascinating.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And by the way, coming up here in a few minutes,
- 6:55Speaker 1: we're gonna hear more from long worrn set football coach
- 6:57Speaker 1: Steve Sarkeg because the team's back on the practice field
- 6:59Speaker 1: and so we'll hear from Sark more from that media availabile.
- 7:03Speaker 1: We only brought you a little snippet of it yesterday
- 7:05Speaker 1: because we had an abbreviated truncated program because of the
- 7:09Speaker 1: link of the Round Rock Express game.
- 7:11Speaker 2: So we're going to bring you some more of that.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Let you hear some more from Sark Coming up, we
- 7:15Speaker 1: do have inconceivable this hour as well, in the three
- 7:19Speaker 1: o'clock hour, Hey Luca. Back in Dallas tonight, Mavericks Lakers.
- 7:27Speaker 1: First of all, Cameron's feeling better about his Oklahoma City Thunder.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He said he wasn't going to put too much stock
- 7:32Speaker 1: in the lakers one six ninety nine win over the Thunder.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Because the Thunder promptly turned around and beat the Lakers game.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Was this part of the makeup from the fires in
- 7:41Speaker 1: California for them to play back to back like that.
- 7:44Speaker 3: No, it's just got the weird NBA scheduling. Okay, they're
- 7:47Speaker 3: trying to get some of these games in. We know
- 7:49Speaker 3: what the load management and stuff. So they break at
- 7:52Speaker 3: the schedule where we'll do a lot of back to
- 7:54Speaker 3: backs with the two same teams, but one team will
- 7:57Speaker 3: go play at home, and then the next night they'll
- 7:59Speaker 3: play on the.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Room and then and then they go the Lakers going
- 8:04Speaker 1: straight down I thirty Well, they didn't, they.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Flew, they didn't.
- 8:07Speaker 1: They didn't bust down I thirty five from Oklahoma City
- 8:11Speaker 1: to Dallas.
- 8:12Speaker 2: But they'll be in Dallas tonight.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Luka Donget's return as the Mavericks will host the Lakers night.
- 8:18Speaker 2: So we'll get to those things. Four o'clock hour.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Jean Watson, our good friend from the Chicago White Sox
- 8:24Speaker 1: front office, joins us our weekly conversation and talk Major
- 8:27Speaker 1: League Baseball and Texas Rangers were doing well until they
- 8:32Speaker 1: kind of ran into some Chicago Cubs issues. But hey,
- 8:37Speaker 1: the team I root for has lost three in a row.
- 8:40Speaker 1: The Dodgers started eight. No, they're nine and four now.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They've got one more game in Washington against the Nationals
- 8:45Speaker 1: this afternoon. But we'll get the temperature of that from
- 8:47Speaker 1: Geno and talk about some other Major League Baseball issues
- 8:51Speaker 1: as well. So with that in mind, all of that,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I want to roll it back to what we were
- 8:57Speaker 1: talking about about the Masters. One of the things that
- 9:01Speaker 1: has always intrigued, if not at times even fascinated me
- 9:07Speaker 1: about major championship golf is the number of players, and
- 9:14Speaker 1: I'm talking about some of the greatest players in the game,
- 9:23Speaker 1: the greatest players in the game who had of the
- 9:28Speaker 1: four major championships one elude them throughout the career and
- 9:34Speaker 1: they couldn't finish it.
- 9:36Speaker 2: They couldn't finish it. And you can go down the list.
- 9:40Speaker 1: There are a few exceptions, obviously, Jack Nicholas and Tiger Woods.
- 9:44Speaker 1: They won all four major championships multiple times, didn't they.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They won all of the major championships at least twice. Jack,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I think won all of the majors at least three times.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And Tiger Woods after the after the the car wreck,
- 10:01Speaker 1: was at what fourteen, He's at fifteen after coming back.
- 10:03Speaker 2: And he won the mental.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's still three shy of Jack, and I
- 10:07Speaker 1: don't think he's going to catch him. I didn't think
- 10:08Speaker 1: he was going to catch him even back then. I
- 10:11Speaker 1: didn't think he would catch him as father time would
- 10:14Speaker 1: catch him. But then the injuries, the surgeries, the issues
- 10:18Speaker 1: he's had, Jack Nicholas is gonna probably wind up.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You know, I don't know who knows.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I mean, maybe Scotti Scheffler has a has a great
- 10:28Speaker 1: run throughout the rest of his career and surpasses eighteen majors.
- 10:31Speaker 2: I don't know. But that's a tall task.
- 10:33Speaker 1: But for some golfers, some of the greatest in the
- 10:37Speaker 1: history of the game, that there's one major championship, as
- 10:43Speaker 1: he louted them, how many can you name, Cameron of
- 10:46Speaker 1: some of the greatest golfers of all time who couldn't
- 10:49Speaker 1: get that one final major to complete the career slam?
- 10:54Speaker 3: Well, obviously, Phil Nicholson in the US Opens a big one.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Jordan Spieth in the PGA Championship. Let's see Bobby Jones
- 11:02Speaker 3: ever won the Masters, No.
- 11:03Speaker 1: No, but he had retired by then. He started the
- 11:07Speaker 1: Masters basically, so he won the Grand Slam before the
- 11:12Speaker 1: modern as we know a Grand Slam, and I believe
- 11:14Speaker 1: it was in nineteen thirty won the US Open, US Amateur,
- 11:17Speaker 1: which was considered a major championship, British Open or the
- 11:20Speaker 1: Open Championship and the British Amateur, and that was considered
- 11:25Speaker 1: the Grand Slam. The Masters began in nineteen thirty four,
- 11:27Speaker 1: but since then there's other ones. Sam Stead never won
- 11:34Speaker 1: a US Open, never won a US Open, lost I
- 11:38Speaker 1: think in a playoff once or twice, had a couple opportunities.
- 11:41Speaker 1: His fate with the US Open was similar to Phil Nicholson's,
- 11:45Speaker 1: where he had opportunities and it got away from him
- 11:48Speaker 1: down the stretch. Arnold Palmer never won the PGA, had
- 11:52Speaker 1: a couple opportunities, got very very close to think nineteen
- 11:55Speaker 1: seventy three maybe or sixty nine to something like.
- 11:57Speaker 2: That, didn't win.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Tom Watson never won the PGA. Uh, you know one
- 12:03Speaker 1: other major championship. You know, this is kind of lost
- 12:07Speaker 1: to history, or at least it's just kind of escaped
- 12:09Speaker 1: our memory. But remember a few years ago when Tom
- 12:12Speaker 1: Watson at age sixty was like a four foot putt
- 12:16Speaker 1: away from winning the Open Championship.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Nine doesn't eight?
- 12:21Speaker 1: I think so, And I think It would have been
- 12:24Speaker 1: the greatest achievement in modern golf history to do that
- 12:28Speaker 1: at age sixty, more so than Jack Nicholas winning the
- 12:31Speaker 1: Masters at age forty six.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Uh and and he was like a four foot put
- 12:36Speaker 2: away and he missed it and wound up losing as
- 12:39Speaker 2: a result.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But Tom Watson always played the open rotation the road
- 12:45Speaker 1: to courses very very well.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Mustis golf BacT this week? No, it's a it's an
- 12:50Speaker 3: Open Championship bag that lists each of the years he
- 12:53Speaker 3: won the.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Open Championship, didn't he?
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, And talking about flex, you know, you're sitting on
- 12:58Speaker 3: the bag and some you know kids say, you know,
- 13:01Speaker 3: like for instance, Speith, who has won one Open Championship,
- 13:04Speaker 3: could have won a couple others. You know, it feels
- 13:05Speaker 3: pretty good about his game. Hey, why why do you
- 13:08Speaker 3: have five years on your That's the five Open championships
- 13:11Speaker 3: I won their son those that's a big flex for
- 13:13Speaker 3: Tom Watson.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Had that the famous duel in the sun at Turnberry
- 13:18Speaker 1: with Jack Nicholas. I always remember that one he won
- 13:23Speaker 1: the US Open. Has an incredible chip at Pebble Beach
- 13:25Speaker 1: on number seventeen in nineteen eighty two.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He won that. But he never won the PGA. Arnold
- 13:30Speaker 2: Palmer never won the PGA.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Probably the toughest won the win I think of the
- 13:34Speaker 3: four majors, which one the PGA. Why because it's a
- 13:36Speaker 3: different course every single year, so and it doesn't always
- 13:41Speaker 3: set up to a certain players game each year. Usually
- 13:46Speaker 3: the Open Championship is really good for the creative thinkers, right,
- 13:51Speaker 3: US Open kind of you known for being tougher. PGA Championship.
- 13:54Speaker 3: It's a different course every year, and that's the same
- 13:56Speaker 3: thing for the US Open, the Open Championship, but there's
- 13:58Speaker 3: a rotation with the PGA. They've kind of adjusted it
- 14:02Speaker 3: and it's kind of become more of a bomb and
- 14:05Speaker 3: gounge type golf tournament. I think it's really difficult to win.
- 14:08Speaker 3: It's why there's been so few golfers who have won
- 14:11Speaker 3: it multiple times. I mean, Tiger only won the PGA
- 14:13Speaker 3: Championship I think twice if I remember correctly.
- 14:16Speaker 2: But yeah, he had a playoff, didn't he over Bob May.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Bob May I went at Southern Hills. And then where
- 14:21Speaker 2: was the other one that he won at.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I have to look it up, but pau Halla, maybe
- 14:26Speaker 1: in Louisville, I can't remember for sure. About that, but
- 14:30Speaker 1: he's won it multiple times. I'd be like a couple
- 14:32Speaker 1: of times Lee Trevino never won the Masters.
- 14:34Speaker 2: He won it four times.
- 14:35Speaker 1: So okay, okay, Lee Trevino never won the Masters because
- 14:40Speaker 1: and when my dad was doing a business deal with
- 14:43Speaker 1: him on back and was doing some advertising for him,
- 14:45Speaker 1: he said, to your point that golf course is not
- 14:49Speaker 1: suited to my game because Lee Trevino, who grew up
- 14:52Speaker 1: in Dallas, you know, grew up hitting balls low and
- 14:55Speaker 1: liners into the wind and playing out of Tennison Park
- 14:57Speaker 1: and all that sort of stuff. Think that's why Lee
- 14:59Speaker 1: Trevino was so good at the Open Championship. He won
- 15:01Speaker 1: two he wanted back to back years because he was
- 15:04Speaker 1: good in those conditions, but not so much at Augusta.
- 15:08Speaker 1: And it makes me think about that way about Rory McElroy,
- 15:11Speaker 1: that his game more suited to the open, windy international game,
- 15:16Speaker 1: and he's never won at Augusta. Now, lots of great
- 15:19Speaker 1: golfers have never won the Masters before, but that comes
- 15:23Speaker 1: to mind for me. And then, like you said, Phil
- 15:26Speaker 1: Mickelson of the US Open, Sam Sneave with the US Open,
- 15:29Speaker 1: Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, the PGA, those are the ones
- 15:31Speaker 1: that really come to mind about that, and Jordan Speith
- 15:34Speaker 1: still trying to win a PGA. He's won the other
- 15:37Speaker 1: ones as well. Where are we with Scottie Scheffler. It's
- 15:41Speaker 1: only one at Augustin el only wanted August one. Two majors,
- 15:44Speaker 1: but both at Augustus.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so we'll see how that works this week.
- 15:48Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Up next, we're gonna hear from Long WRNS head coach
- 15:50Speaker 1: Steve Sarkisian when we continue on this Wednesday afternoon on
- 15:53Speaker 1: thirteen under the Zone. Here from longrt's head coach Steve Sarkisian.
- 15:56Speaker 1: One thing that sark was asked about yesterday position changes.
- 16:00Speaker 1: And we usually don't think about him until we get
- 16:02Speaker 1: into spring ball and then all of a sudden you
- 16:03Speaker 1: get all practice. Oh yeah, that guy changed positions. He
- 16:06Speaker 1: went from defense to offense or offense to defense. And
- 16:09Speaker 1: Sark was asked about those positional changes.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Brian Niblett's probably been the biggest one. You know, he
- 16:14Speaker 5: switched over to defense. Right now, he's working at Star
- 16:17Speaker 5: for us, and you see the skill set of kind
- 16:21Speaker 5: of what i'd hope it.
- 16:21Speaker 6: Would look like.
- 16:23Speaker 5: He's obviously all getting a lot more looks at the
- 16:25Speaker 5: return game, punt return, in kickoff return game. So he's
- 16:29Speaker 5: probably the most notable guy that's really you know, changed
- 16:32Speaker 5: opposite sides of the ball.
- 16:33Speaker 1: A couple of questions about the offensive line. First of all,
- 16:36Speaker 1: how does the O line look so far? You know,
- 16:38Speaker 1: it's going to have quite the different look going into
- 16:42Speaker 1: this season. So we's asked how the offensive line is developing.
- 16:45Speaker 5: We all have an idea of who Trevor is. We
- 16:47Speaker 5: got a pretty good glimpse of that. Not a finished product,
- 16:49Speaker 5: but we got a pretty good glimpse of what he
- 16:51Speaker 5: looks like. This is probably the best version of DJ
- 16:55Speaker 5: Campbell we've gotten, you know, and again here's four years
- 16:58Speaker 5: into it.
- 16:59Speaker 6: You think a guy he is who he is.
- 17:00Speaker 5: There's growth for everybody, and I think he's taken a
- 17:03Speaker 5: really big step from a leadership standpoint and energy standpoint.
- 17:07Speaker 5: This is the best condition he's been in. And then
- 17:11Speaker 5: Cole his experience at center, you know, has been helpful.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I've loved the competition with a lot of those other tackles,
- 17:17Speaker 5: Brandon Baker, Kojo, Nick Brooks, that that's been really healthy
- 17:22Speaker 5: competition there. I love the growth of Nate Kibble right
- 17:26Speaker 5: now of where he's at. So again, work in progress,
- 17:29Speaker 5: seven practices in. But again, I think just the steady
- 17:34Speaker 5: consistency of growth is what we're looking for. I'm always
- 17:37Speaker 5: trying to fight us taking two steps forward one step
- 17:40Speaker 5: backwards and trying to nip that in the bud mid
- 17:43Speaker 5: practice and we'll find that right combination. I think that's
- 17:47Speaker 5: one thing that you know, Kyle and I have done
- 17:50Speaker 5: over the years is try to find who are the
- 17:52Speaker 5: best five and then kind of slot them who's six,
- 17:55Speaker 5: who's seven, who's eight, right, and finding that that kind
- 17:57Speaker 5: of foundation for who you can care on going into games.
- 18:01Speaker 5: And it's a good competition right now.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yeah, the first three he mentioned obviously Trevor Goosby, who
- 18:06Speaker 1: gave the long runs some quality snaps due to injuries
- 18:09Speaker 1: when he stepped in late in the season. DJ Campbell
- 18:12Speaker 1: obviously returning started there, and he mentioned Cole Hudson who
- 18:15Speaker 1: rotated in on there. All right, So those guys are
- 18:19Speaker 1: part of it. But remember, overall the long wrns lose
- 18:24Speaker 1: for offensive line starters. So Sark was asked, is there
- 18:27Speaker 1: a concern that he had some concerns going into the
- 18:29Speaker 1: spring knowing he was losing four offensive line starters.
- 18:33Speaker 5: You know, Hey, it's like anything every year, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 5: we're going to lose people, you know, and I think
- 18:39Speaker 5: the sign of a healthy program and the sign of
- 18:43Speaker 5: a successful program is when people move on. The next
- 18:47Speaker 5: group's ready, That next wave of guys are ready to
- 18:50Speaker 5: step in and compete and.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Do it at a high level. And there's been a.
- 18:54Speaker 5: High standards set in our program at all positions, and so,
- 18:57Speaker 5: you know, this has been kind of the first the
- 19:00Speaker 5: offensive line has had to be part of that. We've
- 19:03Speaker 5: dealt with it on the defensive line for a couple
- 19:05Speaker 5: of years now. We've dealt with it at wide receiver
- 19:07Speaker 5: for a couple of years now, We've dealt with it
- 19:09Speaker 5: at the running back position for a couple of years now.
- 19:12Speaker 5: This has probably been the first time with the offensive
- 19:14Speaker 5: line has been the one that's part of that transition.
- 19:18Speaker 6: But again, you know, a lot of these guys have.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Been in our program, They've worked hard, and they're chomping
- 19:22Speaker 5: at the bit for their opportunity.
- 19:23Speaker 1: All right, and let's shift over from the offense to
- 19:28Speaker 1: the defensive side. How about an update on what he's
- 19:31Speaker 1: seeing early days at both the corner and nickel positions.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Yeah, healthy, healthy, competition right now. You know, I think
- 19:39Speaker 5: when you assess it, one thing we've worked on this
- 19:42Speaker 5: spring is we moved Gilbo to corner.
- 19:44Speaker 6: We know who he is.
- 19:45Speaker 5: He's got banked five hundred and something reps at Star,
- 19:49Speaker 5: so to get him back at corner to see what
- 19:51Speaker 5: that looks like. Obviously, Manny is back this year, Kobe
- 19:55Speaker 5: Black's had a good spring, Warren Roberson's had an excellent
- 19:58Speaker 5: spring at Corner so far. And then you've got some
- 20:00Speaker 5: new faces right the Cave Phillips of the Worlds. You know,
- 20:03Speaker 5: some new guys there at Star. You know Wardell Max
- 20:07Speaker 5: and year two Grayson Littleton is a true freshman, Ryan Nibblett,
- 20:10Speaker 5: you know, as a position change.
- 20:12Speaker 6: And so when you.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Look at the secondary as a whole, just body type,
- 20:19Speaker 5: skill set, ability, corner Star safeties, I would argue it's
- 20:24Speaker 5: probably one of our better, if not our best looking
- 20:26Speaker 5: position on the team. You know that that we're gonna
- 20:29Speaker 5: have plenty of players that are going to contribute on defense,
- 20:32Speaker 5: but I think a lot of that group is going
- 20:33Speaker 5: to contribute on special teams as well. It's been a
- 20:36Speaker 5: group that, you know, we've really tried to recruit a
- 20:39Speaker 5: specific skill set, a specific body type. We've got really
- 20:43Speaker 5: good length, we're really athletic, we can run in the secondary,
- 20:47Speaker 5: and and it's allowing us to play a style over
- 20:50Speaker 5: there that as you know, I've always wanted to be
- 20:52Speaker 5: very aggressive guys, guys that could do multiple things but
- 20:56Speaker 5: also can help on special teams.
- 20:58Speaker 6: So it's been a good group so far. And again
- 21:01Speaker 6: and they've.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Got three brand new coaches over there, you know, with
- 21:04Speaker 5: with coach Aquina, with coach Orfe and coach Hudson, so
- 21:07Speaker 5: there's a there's been a transition for that too, even
- 21:10Speaker 5: for our veteran players. It's a new voice, right, there's
- 21:12Speaker 5: new terminology there, there's some subtleties that we're tweaking with
- 21:16Speaker 5: the system. So it's it's been it's been really good
- 21:20Speaker 5: though so far, and I've been impressed. But just like
- 21:23Speaker 5: the offensive line, you know, two steps forward we can play.
- 21:26Speaker 6: Coverage is great for two.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Plays, then we can't bust one and give up a
- 21:29Speaker 5: big one. So we're trying to just trying to find
- 21:31Speaker 5: that right continuity there.
- 21:32Speaker 1: All right, we'll hear more from Start coming up next
- 21:34Speaker 1: hour and some of the four o'clock our couple of
- 21:36Speaker 1: responses questions on our text line. Somebody said, guys said,
- 21:42Speaker 1: thanks for coming back again today. Sure you don't need
- 21:45Speaker 1: some load management. Also, Oja was acquitted. He was acquitted
- 21:48Speaker 1: in criminal court, not in civil court. He was found
- 21:53Speaker 1: guilty and in civil court and had to pay a
- 21:56Speaker 1: lot of money there on that that was going back
- 21:58Speaker 1: to yesterday when when the texture was up updating us
- 22:01Speaker 1: and the fact that the goalpost had moved to the
- 22:03Speaker 1: back of the end zone, which by the way, was
- 22:04Speaker 1: nineteen seventy four when that happened. And that's also oj
- 22:08Speaker 1: is dead and they use a net hanging from a
- 22:10Speaker 1: rim in basketball. Somebody said, you see the Stars game
- 22:14Speaker 1: last night? I couldn't believe what I saw. I was
- 22:17Speaker 1: calling the long ward game. I didn't see it, but
- 22:19Speaker 1: I saw the highlights. I was kind of speechless when
- 22:23Speaker 1: I saw it. Everybody was. If you didn't see what
- 22:27Speaker 1: happened with the Dallas Stars last night. Total collapse gave
- 22:32Speaker 1: up three goals in fifty four seconds inside the final
- 22:37Speaker 1: minute of the game that forced overtime, and then Vancouver
- 22:40Speaker 1: beat him in overtime, right yep, six' five.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yep.

- 26:43Speaker 1: they had a lot of guys who are, very very
- 26:45Speaker 1: competitive on tour like they do. Now but it's different

- 28:54Speaker 1: texas gave up to in the bottom of the tenth
- 28:55Speaker 1: and lost To louisville four to three and ten, innings
- 28:58Speaker 1: just like The louisville went Over texas in the season
- 29:00Speaker 1: opened At. Arlington fortunately for the Long, warts they've only
- 29:02Speaker 1: lost three games since then and are eleven and one
- 29:07Speaker 1: IN sec. PLAY sec did really well in the non
- 29:10Speaker 1: conference last. Day you know who it kind of stumbled
- 29:13Speaker 1: last night The big twelve and it's hard to figure
- 29:15Speaker 1: out that league if you've looked at. It the leader
- 29:18Speaker 1: atop The big twell standings Is. Kansas, yeah and they
- 29:22Speaker 1: lost To nebraska last. Night they got there's a huge
- 29:24Speaker 1: series this weekend In Fort, Worth kansas AND. TCU tcu

- 29:42Speaker 1: From tuesday and on the twenty second At Bobcat ballpark
- 29:45Speaker 1: In San. Marcus most of the, teams, however in The
- 29:49Speaker 1: big twelve lost their, games their non conference their midweek
- 29:53Speaker 1: games last, night so it was a little bit, weird all.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Right so The masters today Is part Three challenge. Day
- 30:00Speaker 1: how about leaderboard?
- 30:01Speaker 2: Update?
- 30:02Speaker 1: There Cameron, parker who who is leading the par three
- 30:05Speaker 1: challenge At Augusta.
- 30:07Speaker 2: National, well let's pull up the leaderboard here real.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Quick looks like it's we have a two way tie
- 30:12Speaker 3: With Nicholas echavaria AND Jj spott, okay who do not
- 30:17Speaker 3: believe in The master's jinks, Apparently so we'll see now
- 30:22Speaker 3: the current other current golfers on the chorus right. Now,
- 30:25Speaker 3: yeah it looks like that score is gonna. Hold SO
- 30:27Speaker 3: i don't think there is a playoff or anything like.
- 30:30Speaker 3: That So Corey connors is three hundred through, five but
- 30:34Speaker 3: a Feeling connors is going to decue himself here in
- 30:35Speaker 3: a little.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Bit do you think?
- 30:36Speaker 1: So, okay there's a lot of guys that step away
- 30:39Speaker 1: From they don't they don't want, that you, know they.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Don't they don't want that hanging over. Them you.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Know, oh they won the par Three. Challenge no par
- 30:47Speaker 1: Three challenge winners ever won the tournament. Itself so but
- 30:51Speaker 1: all the other ones Like Scottie schaffler And jordan speedth
- 30:54Speaker 1: you mentioned in several others already decued themselves by having
- 30:58Speaker 1: a son or daughter or you, know girlfriend or wife
- 31:01Speaker 1: hit a shot or something like. That, okay so it's
- 31:05Speaker 1: the eighty ninth edition Of The. Masters so here's some.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Questions let me throw some questions at THE espn trotted
- 31:14Speaker 1: out a whole bunch of questions and some of those
- 31:17Speaker 1: are pretty. Interesting, okay all eyes are on who this?
- 31:22Speaker 1: Week MM i like to be?
- 31:25Speaker 3: ANYBODY i would probably Say rory And Scott here are
- 31:27Speaker 3: the two biggest names that have will garnished the most
- 31:31Speaker 3: attention throughout the.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Weekend, okay all, right who else should be?
- 31:38Speaker 3: FAVORED i love the way That Colin morikawa is coming
- 31:42Speaker 3: in this. Year he's been under the, Radar he's had
- 31:44Speaker 3: a couple close, calls has not won yet this. SEASON
- 31:48Speaker 3: i think he's had two two top, five two top.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Tens but statistically he's playing the best golf out of
- 31:55Speaker 3: anybody right now on the. Tour he's always played well
- 32:00Speaker 3: well And augusta this course definitely suits his. Game he's
- 32:04Speaker 3: a two time major, champion and with all the eyes
- 32:06Speaker 3: On scotty And ry this, week it does feel like
- 32:09Speaker 3: a good week For morikawa to come in and make some.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Noise on hes. Won he's won A, pgad he win
- 32:13Speaker 2: The OPEN.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Pj in twenty, Twenty, yeah THE covid, Year, yeah and
- 32:18Speaker 3: then the twenty and twenty One Open. Championship yep okay.
- 32:25Speaker 2: True or.
- 32:26Speaker 1: False best shot for a live golfer to win it
- 32:31Speaker 1: would Be Jon ram Or bryson To.
- 32:33Speaker 2: SHAMBA i Like bryson this. Week.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Obviously he won THE Us Open championship last year At, pinehurst.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And that changed, you by the way On, bryson because
- 32:41Speaker 1: he used to hate used to it with unbridled.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Passion i've done a complete one, eighty and you, know
- 32:46Speaker 3: he's kind of easing up his personality a, lot and
- 32:48Speaker 3: he's not such a hardcore meathead. ANYMORE i like the
- 32:52Speaker 3: way he's He's he's played the major. CHAMPIONSHIPS i think
- 32:55Speaker 3: out of all The Live golf, guys he's definitely been
- 32:58Speaker 3: the most.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Consistent he's shown the most signs of.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Life outside OF i would Say Joaque, neeman who has
- 33:03Speaker 3: NOT i, believe finished in the top ten twenty in
- 33:07Speaker 3: a major. Yet so Between rom And, BRYSON i would
- 33:11Speaker 3: go With. Bryson have not really seen signs of life
- 33:13Speaker 3: From rom since he joined The Live Golf, tour but
- 33:16Speaker 3: we've Seen bryson be able to at least win a
- 33:19Speaker 3: major since joining The Live Golf. Tour best first timer
- 33:23Speaker 3: to watch maver McNeely is a name THAT i. Like
- 33:27Speaker 3: he's A West coast. Kid he won on the tour this.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Season he's a fantastic ball. STRIKER i love the way
- 33:35Speaker 3: he's played this. Year joe High, smith he's won this.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Season he's a good name to watch out. For i'm
- 33:41Speaker 3: trying to think of anybody else About Thomas datrie, yep
- 33:45Speaker 3: The belgian who won At phoenix to season. Two he's
- 33:48Speaker 3: kind of cooled off since winning that. Tournament BUT i
- 33:52Speaker 3: Think maverck mcneely's got to have a really good.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Week is It Aaron rye or?
- 33:56Speaker 1: Right Aaron rye Another englishman out tied for nineteenth at
- 34:02Speaker 1: the twenty twenty One.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Open he wears two golf, gloves So i'm gonna say,
- 34:07Speaker 3: no he's not gonna ring.
- 34:08Speaker 2: It you don't like, THAT i don't like You're.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Let me give you another name of a guy not
- 34:15Speaker 1: not a first time or just a guy who to.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Watch how About Xander. Schoffling sandra's. Interesting you won THE
- 34:21Speaker 3: pja this past, season his, first his first major championship,
- 34:25Speaker 3: victory was arguably the best golfer on the planet not Named.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Scottie scheffler goes into the offseason and has some has
- 34:34Speaker 3: some sort of like rib, injury not really sure what
- 34:37Speaker 3: the deal. Is all of a sudden comes out he's
- 34:39Speaker 3: gonna be missing the century and know? Why comes back
- 34:43Speaker 3: and you, know has not looked. GREAT i, believe forget
- 34:47Speaker 3: where he finished at Bay. Hill it wasn't a fantastic.
- 34:50Speaker 3: FINISH i, mean if he if he's, healthy you feel
- 34:52Speaker 3: good about his. Game but for someone who has not
- 34:54Speaker 3: played in a lot of golf, tournaments it's very. Hard
- 34:57Speaker 3: all of a, sudden we get yourself in major. Championship
- 35:00Speaker 3: he has played well Out augusta. BEFORE i think he's
- 35:02Speaker 3: got three top tens top. FIFTEENS i mean the year
- 35:06Speaker 3: At decky. ONE i think he went into sixteen with
- 35:08Speaker 3: a either a share of the lead or one back
- 35:10Speaker 3: and then dumped it into the, water effectively ending his
- 35:13Speaker 3: chances of winning a green. Jacket allowed A decy to
- 35:15Speaker 3: win his first major. Championship so If sander is, healthy
- 35:20Speaker 3: THEN i feel good about.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Him BUT i just don't think he has put enough golf.
- 35:24Speaker 3: YET i don't think he's healthy enough yet to contend
- 35:26Speaker 3: in a major championship just. Yet SO i Don't i'm
- 35:29Speaker 3: not expecting Anything alexander this.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Week, Okay and what kind of chance do you Give
- 35:34Speaker 1: roy McElroy.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Rory's might pick to win. IT i think he. IS
- 35:39Speaker 3: i think he's turned a. CORNER i know it's been
- 35:41Speaker 3: eleven years since he last won a major. Championship at
- 35:43Speaker 3: The hall of THE pga in every, YEAR i think
- 35:46Speaker 3: a lot of fans will talk themselves in To, Roy
- 35:49Speaker 3: BUT i do think it's. Different you, know he had
- 35:52Speaker 3: the heartbreak AT, lacc he had the heartbreak At, pinehurst
- 35:57Speaker 3: and then this season he comes back. In you, know
- 36:00Speaker 3: he wins The Players championship in impressive. Fashion he won
- 36:05Speaker 3: ANOTHER pga tournament the season, Already so he's got The Pebble.
- 36:08Speaker 2: BEACH i believe he won At Pebble.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Beach so he's got two wins at two unique golf,
- 36:14Speaker 3: courses but two golf courses THAT i think set up
- 36:17Speaker 3: well For augusta because you have to be able to
- 36:20Speaker 3: hit long iron shots and drive the ball, well and
- 36:24Speaker 3: that's Where. Augusta that's where the winners Of augusta usually do,
- 36:28Speaker 3: well is they're able to keep the.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Ball in the.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Fairway but now it's now not just about keeping the
- 36:32Speaker 3: ball in the. Fairway it's about being able to drive
- 36:34Speaker 3: it far because the course has gotten so, long and
- 36:36Speaker 3: then also be able to effectively hit shots between one
- 36:39Speaker 3: hundred and fifty yards in two hundred. Yards And rory
- 36:42Speaker 3: is a fantastic ball, striker and he's been putting it very.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Well AND i think, mentally the way he's kind of
- 36:47Speaker 3: spoken in these last couple of press, CONFERENCES i think
- 36:50Speaker 3: mentally he's turned a corner as. Well SO i THINK
- 36:53Speaker 3: i think If rory's going to win a major championship At,
- 36:57Speaker 3: AUGUSTA i think this is the, year BECAUSE i don't
- 37:00Speaker 3: Think Scotty scheffler is all the way back yet from
- 37:04Speaker 3: his hand injury cooking the. PASTA i know he FINISHED
- 37:07Speaker 3: t two at The Houston open a few weeks, ago
- 37:10Speaker 3: BUT i just don't think he's all the way back.
- 37:12Speaker 2: YET i think this is the Week.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Roy mcclroy finally wins The masters and completes the Career Grand.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Slam, okay and then finally some trivia, Here, Okay scheffler
- 37:24Speaker 1: is trying to become only the second golfer in history
- 37:31Speaker 1: to win The masters three times in a four year.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Span who's the other? One tiger And?
- 37:35Speaker 1: Jack there's only one, one so only one has won
- 37:39Speaker 1: it three times in four.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Years SO i think then The tiger won the one nine,
- 37:43Speaker 3: seven the he didn't win again until what, two and
- 37:45Speaker 3: then he won two to four?
- 37:48Speaker 2: Five So, tiger It's jack sixty, three sixty, five sixty.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Six Now scheffler's also trying to become only the fourth
- 37:57Speaker 1: golfer to win A Green jacket and back to. BACK
- 38:00Speaker 1: i just gave you one of. Them jack did it
- 38:02Speaker 1: in sixty five sixty. Six who are the other two
- 38:05Speaker 1: golfers who've won The masters him back to back.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Years let's, see that's a good. QUESTION i Know tiger
- 38:16Speaker 3: never went it back to back yes he. Did tiger
- 38:18Speaker 3: went it back to? Back oh one? Two, okay ONE o.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Two there's one other one in the eighties player Not gary.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Player he won, it let's see sixty, one seventy, four seventy. Eight,
- 38:31Speaker 3: yeah he won it three. Times you can go ahead
- 38:34Speaker 3: and tell me the, answer Sir Nick.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Faldo, okay nineteen eighty, ninety nineteen, ninety back to? Back
- 38:40Speaker 1: uh for Sir? Nick is he is he still on
- 38:44Speaker 1: THE cbs coverage or did he retire.
- 38:45Speaker 3: FROM i believe he's now on either The Sky sports
- 38:48Speaker 3: coverage or he's doing some of The master's radio.
- 38:51Speaker 1: App, okay, okay yeah he's not with. That, okay all,
- 38:55Speaker 1: right very, good all, right there's some things on The
- 38:57Speaker 1: masters coming up. Next more from long warn and said

- 40:09Speaker 1: wednesday afternoon on thirteen under The, zone Long worts back
- 40:11Speaker 1: on the practice field as they continue to work through
- 40:14Speaker 1: spring ball seven practices in eight counting today now and
- 40:20Speaker 1: Long oorts head Coach Steve sarkisian addressed the media yesterday
- 40:23Speaker 1: and there were a whole variety of. Topics we didn't
- 40:24Speaker 1: get a chance to get to much of it yesterday
- 40:27Speaker 1: because we had a shorter show due to the daytime
- 40:29Speaker 1: game for the Round Rock. Express so here's some of
- 40:31Speaker 1: the other comments that we missed out on.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yesterday First.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Ball sark has made a point of pointing out how
- 40:43Speaker 1: he and his staff have taken a MORE nfl style
- 40:49Speaker 1: approach to crafting how they put the program. Together it
- 40:54Speaker 1: makes more sense nowadays with all of the changes in
- 40:57Speaker 1: the collegiate, game and that's part and parcel of one
- 41:01Speaker 1: part of it of no spring game and you, know
- 41:03Speaker 1: going through a lot of THE ota type. Stuff so
- 41:08Speaker 1: as he has emulated some of THE nfl style, things
- 41:12Speaker 1: and there's been a recent of course pro day on
- 41:15Speaker 1: campus pro timing. Game sark was asked if there's been
- 41:18Speaker 1: AN nfl team or MORE nfl teams that have approached
- 41:23Speaker 1: him for some input and.
- 41:25Speaker 5: ADVICE i don't know if they really want to know us,
- 41:28Speaker 5: schematically you, KNOW i think everybody's got film and watches and.
- 41:31Speaker 5: WHATNOT i do think there's something to be said for
- 41:35Speaker 5: how we, teach you, know and to get our guys
- 41:37Speaker 5: prepared for THE.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Nfl you, know we.
- 41:40Speaker 5: Always you, know we're a pro style approach to what we,
- 41:44Speaker 5: do and that's, offense, defense special, teams AND i think
- 41:46Speaker 5: that helps our players get ready for THE nfl.
- 41:50Speaker 6: And to put them in.
- 41:50Speaker 5: Position so there is some definitely some dialogue of teaching
- 41:54Speaker 5: a new player of what that looks. Like AND i
- 41:56Speaker 5: also think there's some cultural stuff that we do, that you,
- 41:59Speaker 5: KNOW i bounce ideas off OF i Love Pro day
- 42:02Speaker 5: BECAUSE i get a chance to talk To Mike rabel
- 42:04Speaker 5: Or Mike tomlin AND i get to bounce things off of, Them,
- 42:07Speaker 5: hey what do you think about?
- 42:08Speaker 6: This have you ever tried?
- 42:09Speaker 5: That and then you, know whether it's intentional or, not
- 42:12Speaker 5: they start asking me those same.
- 42:13Speaker 6: Questions and so it's always.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Great In may WHEN i get to go out and
- 42:18Speaker 5: visit folks and see how they do things in. Person
- 42:21Speaker 5: but it's never like WHEN i can get them here
- 42:23Speaker 5: and our position coaches can talk to A dB coach
- 42:27Speaker 5: from The titans or the quarterback coach from The bears
- 42:30Speaker 5: or whatever that looks. Like and so we're constantly trying
- 42:33Speaker 5: to poke and prod and take in as much as
- 42:36Speaker 5: we can. Get and that's no different from head coaches
- 42:39Speaker 5: when they come around as.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Well you, know that's a good point when he talked
- 42:42Speaker 1: about coaches coming into, town position coaches to watch On
- 42:47Speaker 1: Pro Timing, Day the reason WHY i bring that, up
- 42:49Speaker 1: and he kind of brought it up a little, bit Is,
- 42:51Speaker 1: sark when you get to the, springtime after spring practice is.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Over one thing that he does is he goes out
- 43:01Speaker 1: and visits with different head coaches around THE. Nfl there
- 43:04Speaker 1: are some that he's very close. To he's very close
- 43:08Speaker 1: To Mike shanahan And San, francisco close To sean McVay
- 43:12Speaker 1: with The, rams close To matt leafleur with The, packers
- 43:16Speaker 1: close To mike McDaniels with The. Dolphins they like minded
- 43:19Speaker 1: individuals when it comes to the. Offense so he visits
- 43:22Speaker 1: with those guys every. Year it takes an opportunity to
- 43:26Speaker 1: travel out and visit with those guys and exchange of
- 43:30Speaker 1: ideas and different things like.
- 43:32Speaker 2: That there's gonna be a lot focused.
- 43:37Speaker 1: ON. Cj baxter coming off the season ending injury in
- 43:41Speaker 1: camp from last.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Year.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Now it did obviously open the door with what the
- 43:46Speaker 1: Long worns did with the running back spots last, season
- 43:50Speaker 1: But baxter's coming.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Back but Remember Christian.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Clark Christin clark as a freshman was looking really good
- 43:56Speaker 1: until he went down with an. Injury So sark was,
- 43:59Speaker 1: asked how Has Christian clark's recovery come along and, overall
- 44:05Speaker 1: what is he seeing from his running back.
- 44:07Speaker 6: Room i'll start With.
- 44:08Speaker 5: Christian i'm super, impressed you know he anytime you have
- 44:13Speaker 5: a significant injury like that and you and you miss
- 44:16Speaker 5: an entire, season you, know you're always kind of monitoring
- 44:20Speaker 5: what are they going to look like when they really
- 44:22Speaker 5: start to come. Back AND i could feel it and winter,
- 44:25Speaker 5: WORKOUTS i mean he was running away where it was like, this,
- 44:28Speaker 5: MAN i don't know what ahead of schedule is.
- 44:29Speaker 6: Anymore science is pretty.
- 44:31Speaker 5: Incredible and as practice has, started you, know he looks
- 44:36Speaker 5: in tremendous. Shape he's right back to having great balance
- 44:40Speaker 5: and body, control which is something that that we identified
- 44:43Speaker 5: in the recruiting. Process he's got really good you, know
- 44:46Speaker 5: change of, direction ability to get to top end speed.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Quickly so we're very pleased with where he's. At Trey
- 44:53Speaker 5: wisner's had a great spring and he is the real
- 44:56Speaker 5: Energizer bunny on. Offense he provides the, spark the, juice the.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Energy but yet he's making really, competitive tough. Plays he
- 45:04Speaker 5: looks really. Good he's playing physical And Jared gibson's had
- 45:07Speaker 5: a good spring so far as, well and so and
- 45:09Speaker 5: then you.
- 45:09Speaker 6: Flip you flipped it to the two.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Young guys And James simon And Ricky. Stewart you really
- 45:16Speaker 5: see the flashes And james has got a natural, feel
- 45:19Speaker 5: really good, body, lean balancing body, control great hands.
- 45:23Speaker 6: Out of the.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Backfield And ricky maybe was a little behind, early but
- 45:27Speaker 5: the moment we put the pads on and you start
- 45:29Speaker 5: to see him, run you see the, burst you see the.
- 45:31Speaker 6: Acceleration so it's a quality. Room all the while we
- 45:35Speaker 6: know we.
- 45:35Speaker 5: Still HAVE c four coming, back you, Know so it's
- 45:38Speaker 5: a good room for, us as as everybody here. Knows
- 45:41Speaker 5: we value the running back immenseally and we're fortunate to have.
- 45:44Speaker 7: A good room.
- 45:45Speaker 1: There, yeah in case you were wondering what he didn't
- 45:47Speaker 1: MENTION C. J, baxter you just. Did he just did
- 45:49Speaker 1: right there at the end he, said we HAVE c
- 45:50Speaker 1: four coming back AT C. J. Baxter so, yeah all
- 45:55Speaker 1: the while knowing they have him back With Christian, Clark Trey,
- 45:59Speaker 1: white and then the young guys in there as. Well
- 46:03Speaker 1: when young guys enter program quite often they'll you, know
- 46:09Speaker 1: there's that ramping up, process and it happens in every.
- 46:13Speaker 1: SPORT i see it firsthand with all four major varsity
- 46:20Speaker 1: sports THAT i, broadcast and even the ones THAT i don't,
- 46:23Speaker 1: broadcast WHAT i see like softball or soccer or you, know, tennis,
- 46:30Speaker 1: golf swimming and. Diving there is the ramping up process
- 46:34Speaker 1: for young, players whether they are, freshmen red shirt, freshmen
- 46:40Speaker 1: or even transfers into the. Program but in, specific obviously
- 46:43Speaker 1: the sports That i'm, Broadcasting i'm going to see it
- 46:47Speaker 1: a lot more up close in, firsthand be it, football men's,
- 46:52Speaker 1: basketball women's, basketball, BASEBALL i see it on a daily.
- 46:56Speaker 1: BASIS i was talking With Michael, cantu the Long orange
- 46:58Speaker 1: student assistant, coach yesterday about some of the guys and
- 47:02Speaker 1: and and ramping up their. Progress Jim schlosnegle mentions a
- 47:06Speaker 1: lot of young guys and what they. Did there were
- 47:09Speaker 1: there were a couple of young guys who really stepped
- 47:12Speaker 1: up last night on The. Mount Grayson sonier is a
- 47:15Speaker 1: guy who looked really good in a scoreless. Inning he
- 47:18Speaker 1: faced three batters and retired him all on a total
- 47:21Speaker 1: grand total seven. Pitches Drew reherrick worked around a couple
- 47:25Speaker 1: of walks and and got out of. It And Aiden
- 47:27Speaker 1: moffatt is a guy they're very excited. About h he
- 47:32Speaker 1: had he struck out the, side did issue one walk
- 47:36Speaker 1: and but got out of it without any kind of
- 47:40Speaker 1: severe difficulty at. All so young, guys but there is
- 47:44Speaker 1: always a developmental transitional process that these guys have to go.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Through and, yes a lot of it is educational on
- 47:57Speaker 1: what they're supposed to do within the game, plan the, playbook,
- 48:00Speaker 1: whatever and learning the system and learning the.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Routines all of that is, important but.
- 48:08Speaker 1: There's also And sark AND i have talked about this at,
- 48:11Speaker 1: length both out Of pluckers on the show and just
- 48:14Speaker 1: just sitting around talking about the psychological part of it
- 48:20Speaker 1: for young, guys because you can be pretty overwhelming for
- 48:24Speaker 1: you think about those of you who went off to,
- 48:27Speaker 1: college what your freshman fall semester Was. LIKE i can
- 48:33Speaker 1: remember mine AT Unc wilmington AND i felt very overwhelmed about, You,
- 48:37Speaker 1: cameron your freshman fall semester at The university Of.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Texas, yeah you're just kind of, getting you, know getting
- 48:42Speaker 3: to a different, routine something that you're not used, to
- 48:44Speaker 3: right because technically you're really on your own for the
- 48:46Speaker 3: first time in your, life and you've got to be
- 48:48Speaker 3: able to balance the social part of, it and is
- 48:50Speaker 3: also your studious.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Activities and other things so it's definitely an.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Adjustment and then you add to that the coaching that
- 48:57Speaker 1: comes in and you're trying to do what you're being
- 49:00Speaker 1: taught and coached to. Do and this also goes with
- 49:06Speaker 1: transfers coming into a. PROGRAM a perfect example of this
- 49:11Speaker 1: Was Matthew golden when he came in and at first
- 49:15Speaker 1: when he first transferred, in the struggle to pick up the,
- 49:17Speaker 1: offensive struggle to, adapt and boy did he blossom and
- 49:22Speaker 1: become something. Special So sark was, asked what is it
- 49:26Speaker 1: like to see a guy Like matthew go and struggle
- 49:31Speaker 1: with the offense at first before becoming a great. Player the,
- 49:35Speaker 1: blossoming the developmental part of, it the educational all of
- 49:40Speaker 1: which goes into developing a real quality football.
- 49:43Speaker 6: Player, yeah, NO i love, that you, Know AND i
- 49:46Speaker 6: would Say.
- 49:49Speaker 5: Matthews a great example of you, know early, on he was,
- 49:53Speaker 5: struggling you, know with the, offense he was struggling with you,
- 49:57Speaker 5: know the multitude of things was different than what he
- 50:00Speaker 5: had come, from a lot of ways to skin a.
- 50:02Speaker 5: Cap AND i don't think we saw the best version
- 50:07Speaker 5: of him physically early, on even early in the, season
- 50:10Speaker 5: because the the you, know the wheels were still turning up,
- 50:13Speaker 5: top and as the season went, on the more comfortable he,
- 50:17Speaker 5: got we start to see even a better version of him,
- 50:19Speaker 5: physically because mentally things slowed down and calmed down for.
- 50:23Speaker 5: Him and SO i think that's the you, know lesson
- 50:25Speaker 5: learned for all of us as, coaches is, like we
- 50:27Speaker 5: got to keep coaching these. Guys you, know they're not finished,
- 50:30Speaker 5: products and we got to keep pushing them, along keep
- 50:33Speaker 5: trying to put him in position to have some, success
- 50:35Speaker 5: to keep their confidence.
- 50:36Speaker 6: Right but but but, man what a what A you,
- 50:39Speaker 6: know you look.
- 50:40Speaker 5: At the second half of the, season you look at
- 50:42Speaker 5: the playoffs and and just the ride he's been. ON
- 50:46Speaker 5: i couldn't be more happy for. Him you, know he's
- 50:48Speaker 5: he's he's a. Worker you, know he's a blue collar,
- 50:50Speaker 5: guy and it's been, showing you, know he tries to
- 50:54Speaker 5: do things the right. Way and then as the season went,
- 50:57Speaker 5: on it made more sense to.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Him and it's just continued on throughout this draft.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Process so in other, words it's a lesson that could
- 51:04Speaker 1: be passed down to some of the other younger guys
- 51:07Speaker 1: as they continue to work for it and try to
- 51:09Speaker 1: get better on all of. This and so that's why
- 51:12Speaker 1: it was it's good to see the finished, product to
- 51:17Speaker 1: see a guy blossom the way That Matthew golden. Did
- 51:21Speaker 1: listen all of, us if you had any kind of
- 51:26Speaker 1: interest as a, fan as a, football college football, viewer
- 51:33Speaker 1: as a media, member me as a play by play,
- 51:36Speaker 1: guy if any of that tied into your interest in
- 51:42Speaker 1: The university Of, Texas you're probably always going to remember
- 51:46Speaker 1: fourth and. Thirteen, now we're going to Remember quinn yours,
- 51:50Speaker 1: being you, know cool as a cucumber firing that pass,
- 51:53Speaker 1: in but we're going to Remember Matthew golden hauling.
- 51:57Speaker 2: It in in the end zone for that touch. Down
- 52:01Speaker 2: it's just it's always.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Good that's gonna be one of those iconic plays that
- 52:07Speaker 1: are that are gonna stick with. You, YESTERDAY, uh a
- 52:10Speaker 1: member of the Long Horn baseball staff asked me about
- 52:14Speaker 1: And i've been asked about this. Before you AND i
- 52:17Speaker 1: have talked about all. This we've we've we've discussed.
- 52:19Speaker 3: THIS.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Uh the calls that are you, know really whatever iconic or. MEMORABLE,
- 52:25Speaker 1: uh those kinds of, things the the The Vince young
- 52:28Speaker 1: fourth and, five the the, light The Tower orange winning
- 52:31Speaker 1: the national CHAMPIONSHIP uh in baseball AND o two and
- 52:34Speaker 1: again AND o five those those, things those, moments THOSE uh,
- 52:40Speaker 1: Calls and he was asking me about, that AND i,
- 52:43Speaker 1: said there's just something that comes to you in the
- 52:46Speaker 1: moment that are just even after you make the, call
- 52:50Speaker 1: you're kind of just taking it all in and AND
- 52:54Speaker 1: uh in a little bit of disbelief and just kind
- 52:56Speaker 1: of letting it wash over. You that was one of those.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Moments that was definitely one of those. Moments the fourth
- 53:04Speaker 1: and thirteen. Pass all, right we're gonna jump TO. Nba
- 53:09Speaker 1: it's a big night In dallas. Tonight we're gonna get
- 53:11Speaker 1: to that coming up next year on thirteen under The.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Zone tonight In, dallas The mavericks will play The. Lakers
- 53:18Speaker 1: The lakers lost to The thunder last night In Oklahoma.
- 53:21Speaker 1: City we mentioned this last. Hour rather than going to you,
- 53:23Speaker 1: know they'll you, know zip down To dallas and play
- 53:27Speaker 1: this on the back to back in the game last,
- 53:31Speaker 1: night in case you did not see, it there's about
- 53:33Speaker 1: seven and a half minutes to. Go lakers are up
- 53:35Speaker 1: one o, eight one oh, seven And Luka doncic hits
- 53:43Speaker 1: a tough shot and he comes back and there's talking
- 53:48Speaker 1: going on and j T or the referee stops play
- 53:53Speaker 1: and gives him a technical.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Foul now there's two things to work.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Here first of, all he had already had a technical
- 53:58Speaker 1: foul in the, game.
- 54:00Speaker 2: So, two you're.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Out, Secondly luca could not believe, it and he has
- 54:07Speaker 1: some people backing him up on this that he was
- 54:09Speaker 1: not saying anything to the. Official he was trash talking
- 54:13Speaker 1: a fan in the, game.
- 54:18Speaker 2: He, Said so that's he.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Said i've never got a, fan, ejected explaining how he
- 54:25Speaker 1: often engages with opposing fans without asking arena security to.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Intervene he's never asked them to come.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Down and you know a guy when the, guys when
- 54:34Speaker 1: the guy's hazing, him rising, him he, said. Never but
- 54:38Speaker 1: if the fan is going to, Talk i'm going to
- 54:40Speaker 1: talk back like. Always that had nothing to do with the,
- 54:42Speaker 1: ref SO i didn't really. Understand so the Thunder them
- 54:47Speaker 1: finishes the game on a twenty nine to twelve run
- 54:49Speaker 1: and they beat The. Lakers there was he also same
- 54:54Speaker 1: official or Gave dnche a technical in the third quarter
- 54:59Speaker 1: When luca was arguing that a foul call was missed
- 55:01Speaker 1: When Jared vanderbilt of The lakers was hit on the previous.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Possession vanderbilt, said he THOUGHT i got fouled WHICH i
- 55:09Speaker 1: did get.
- 55:09Speaker 2: FOULED i got slapped across the.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Head he was just telling the ref that's what, happened
- 55:12Speaker 1: and the ref was just, Like i'll talk to anybody but, You.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Luca so it seemed a little personal at that. Point
- 55:18Speaker 1: the crew Chief Tony, brothers was asked after the, gang you,
- 55:22Speaker 1: know you have a pool reporter that goes in and
- 55:25Speaker 1: visits and gets official statements about calls and things like
- 55:29Speaker 1: that from the crew. Chief so you have a pool
- 55:33Speaker 1: reporter going and Asking Tony brothers about. It the first,
- 55:36Speaker 1: technical which came with about four minutes to go in
- 55:38Speaker 1: the third, quarter brother, Said donchez directed profanity at a game. Official,
- 55:43Speaker 1: yeah that's probably, so probably did. That the second, One brother,
- 55:47Speaker 1: said Don chez look directly at an, official one used vulgar.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Language the. Fan you know about this, guy don't.
- 55:55Speaker 1: You Jeremy price refers to himself as the court side tattoo. Dude, sure,
- 56:02Speaker 1: yeah he TOLD Espna dodges was shouting at, him not the.
- 56:07Speaker 2: Referee his quote was during the.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Game within the, GAME i mentioned that he was short
- 56:11Speaker 1: on his shot and he missed, it and he turned
- 56:14Speaker 1: around and he shot an exploitive back AND. Jt happened
- 56:18Speaker 1: to see it and at that point ted him. Up
- 56:21Speaker 1: this is the fan saying. This price said he also
- 56:26Speaker 1: exchanged some words With luca last year during that playoff
- 56:28Speaker 1: series between the thunder and The, mavericks and he, said
- 56:31Speaker 1: or possibly could have been mistaken as to Whom doncic was.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Addressing that's probably WHY i picked up that, technical to
- 56:37Speaker 1: be quite, honest he. Said so it was real close
- 56:41Speaker 1: at that, point but then it went on from. There
- 56:45Speaker 1: In Oklahoma city took advantage of. That they have the
- 56:47Speaker 1: number one overall. Record they're sixty five and. Fourteen lebron.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Said both teams know this was going to be a
- 56:53Speaker 1: playoff type, atmosphere playoff type, competition playoff type, feeling and
- 56:57Speaker 1: it just got.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Weird the game got weird after. That so how weird
- 57:04Speaker 2: is it going to be? Tonight In?
- 57:05Speaker 1: Dallas luca back at The American Airlines center for the
- 57:10Speaker 1: first time since the trade to The. Lakers now he's
- 57:13Speaker 1: played against The mavericks since the, trade but that was
- 57:15Speaker 1: In La so now for the first time and we're
- 57:19Speaker 1: hearing all kinds of. Things what there's a mural that's
- 57:22Speaker 1: up in The Cedars, district which is not far from,
- 57:26Speaker 1: downtown which is taking a shot At Nico. Harrison they
- 57:32Speaker 1: say The, mavericks by the, Way cam have relaxed their
- 57:35Speaker 1: policy on you can't say anything bad or at about.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Ownership or management or you're going to get kicked out
- 57:44Speaker 2: of the.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Game suppose that they've relaxed that as long as it's not,
- 57:47Speaker 1: profane that you can say Fire nico if you want or.
- 57:52Speaker 3: Whatever does that violate some of the amendments right in
- 57:55Speaker 3: THE Us?
- 57:56Speaker 1: Constitution, well there is freedom of, speech but does a
- 58:00Speaker 1: mean it doesn't come without, consequences you, know in the
- 58:05Speaker 1: arena or. Something but apparently The mavericks have relaxed the
- 58:10Speaker 1: policy to where you can be critical of the management.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Team their skin is probably thickened quite a bit since
- 58:20Speaker 1: the early days right after that, trade when everybody was
- 58:22Speaker 1: just so undone about it and they were to use
- 58:26Speaker 1: a popular phrase but heard about it and having people
- 58:31Speaker 1: ejected for wearing shirts that say Fire nico and things like.
- 58:36Speaker 1: That they apparently have have walked that back some. Now
- 58:41Speaker 1: they've peeled that back and allowed fans to voice and
- 58:46Speaker 1: vent some.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Frustration The addison family And, Dumont, YEAH i should go
- 58:52Speaker 3: ahead and just sell the.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Team you know.
- 58:55Speaker 1: WHAT i think they're waiting for gambling to become legal
- 58:58Speaker 1: In texas or for it to be shut down and
- 59:02Speaker 1: not become. Legal and then once they get a definitive
- 59:05Speaker 1: final answer on that, deal if it's in the, negative
- 59:09Speaker 1: THEN i think they sell the. Team if it's in the,
- 59:12Speaker 1: POSITIVE i think that they keep the team so because
- 59:19Speaker 1: then there's going to be all that talk about moving
- 59:23Speaker 1: the team of you, know you know the site where
- 59:27Speaker 1: they're talking about putting up this.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Casino have you have you heard?
- 59:29Speaker 4: Them?
- 59:30Speaker 2: Don't let's see what is? It is it near where
- 59:35Speaker 2: THE aac is at nowhere is?
- 59:37Speaker 4: It?
- 59:37Speaker 3: Nope it's western Eastern, dallas western west of, there most
- 59:42Speaker 3: To arlington or.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Not quite that.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Far it is basically on the spot on the, site
- 59:49Speaker 1: on the physical grounds of Where Texas stadium was where
- 59:52Speaker 1: The cowboys played all the way up to two thousand and.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Nine it's it's it's right at the apex Of highway
- 59:59Speaker 1: one eighty, three one, Fourteen loop. Twelve they all kind
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: of come together that and there's been nothing sitting on the.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Side the billboards by the way that advertised cigarettes Forever
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: marlborough and all those those billboards are still up. There,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: uh and they used to Say Texas. State Texas stadium
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: used to have drive in movie. Theaters they had drive in.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Screens WHEN i first got out in The, TEXAS i
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: went out there with my, brother my younger.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: Brother we.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Went that's WHERE i Saw Animal house for the first.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Time it was A texas at The Texas stadium drive
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: in movie. Theater they eventually pulled out the drive in.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Screens the stadium was there TILL o. NINE i THINK
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: o eight was the last season that was in. THERE
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: i got the chance to call the final football game
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: ever played At Texas. Stadium it Was it was a
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: three to a high school state championship game Between carthage
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: And salina that That carthage did it for Statewide radio that.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Night and the paint was already peeling off the, walls
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: and So jerry did nothing. Thing once the decision was
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: made and they were Building Jerry world In, arlington he
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: wasn't going to touch anything else In Texas stadium because
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: it was owned by the city Of. Irving of, course
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: so they did nothing for the upkeep right at the,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: end but that's where the hope was to put up the.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Casino that's where that's supposed to go up if it's
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: going to. Happen but there are most many folks who,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: say you, know what is. It you can hope in one,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: hand poop in the other and see which one fills up.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: First you know that kind of, thing that it's not
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: going to. Happen SO i think that family may be
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: waiting for the final answer to come. Down At, no
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: there's not going to be any legalized casino gambling In,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: texas and if that, happens then maybe at that point
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: it becomes uncomfortable more so than it is right, now
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: even to own the. Team All, right we'll be back
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to wrap up hour number two here on thirteen hunder.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: The Zone wednesday.

- 1:02:26Speaker 3: sorry it's It's. Augusta it's The. Masters there there there's
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: nothing like. It there's truly nothing like. It it's a,
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: fantastic fantastic. Week it might be my favorite week of
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: the year really.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Because you're coming off the national championship of college, basketball.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Just just because it's just because it's The. Masters, Okay.

- 1:02:59Speaker 1: particulicular week in Early april with The masters is your
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: favorite week of the entire calendar year for. Sports, okay
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: not knocking it at, all something like you are, no, no,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: No i'm just, processing just just listening to.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Him i'm not talking about like all of. Sports i'm
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: talking about for one particular. Sport this is my favorite.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Week if you want to, argue, oh the first weekend
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: of college but The sweet sixteen or the Lead dad
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: or first week the first two, days but. Tournament The
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Master's tournament is in a different tier of sporting events
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: because it's it's a limited. Field the his, history the,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: pageantry the, triumphs the, collapses how the course has what
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: stood the test of. Time from what Although jones did
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: In Alistair mackenzie And Clifford roberts from the, beginning all
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: the way, through you, Know jack And gary all the way,
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Through tiger just completely destroying the course of ninety seven
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: And augustin Completely tiger proofing the, course and him coming
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: back TO o one and going back to back and
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: one and, two And phil finally winning his first major
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: after what forty thirty six or forty four starts one
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: of the two and then all the way through what
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: we saw From Jordan speed in twenty, fifteen and Now
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: scotty winning Two Green jackets in the last three. YEARS
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: i JUST i, love just love the tournament and hope
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: one day can get up there for.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: It Has phil won Two masterga.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Won we have one three?
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Times The, Masters, OKAY i, KNEW i was pretty certain
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: he won at least.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Two AND i know he's won THE pga five he
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: won he won four sorry four six in twenty. Ten.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Okay so he's won The masters three, times and he's
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: won THE pga twice that were opened once and what's
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: and The Open championship, yep, okay. Okay so he's won
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: six majors and he's been the runner up of THE
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: us opened six.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Times six? Times?
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Wow where does he rank for? You where Does Phil mickelson.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: RANK i know you don't like. HIM i, KNOW i
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Know phil at the vanguard of live. GOLF i know
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: you know he's not high on your. List but where
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: would you where would you rank? Him is he a
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: top ten of all? TIME i think.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: SO i think so because the way he's played the.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: GAME a fantastic, player of, course you Know, lefty but
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: what he did as an. Amateur you, know he won
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: as an amateur At Arizona state before coming on the,
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: tour his rivalry With Tiger woods and all the close,
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: calls you, know not being able to win a major
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: until he won The masters AND o four and then
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: what he's done since, then and you, know the whole
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: stuff to live and you, know him coming To augusta
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: but not going to The Champions center and not speaking
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: to the media kind of a kind of a STAIN
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: i think on his. Legacy it definitely has hurt his legacy.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Overall but you, know when he Won kiwa on twenty
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: twenty one at THE pga at forty years old or
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: fifty years, OLD i think it was closer to fifty
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: and forty just kind of a perfect way to kind
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: of cement his. Legacy the lift stuff is always going
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: to detract from. It but as a golf, player for
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: sure top ten of all. TIME i mean his golf
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: shot from the pine straw is on what thirteen on,
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: thirteen twenty, ten probably a top ten golf shot.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: At augusta without a. DOUBT i think top.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: FIVE i think one of the things that's interesting about
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: his career is him kind of doing the ten cup
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: stuff like that. One and then remember at THE Us
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: open when he had the, lead he pulls out driver on.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Eighteen everybody's going, no, no, no, Stop no winds up
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: making what double while somebody else made birdie and he
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: winds up losing the open on the last.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Hole that.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Was that was what the year is, Think Jeff ogilv,
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: won was That Beth page the?
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Disaster it was a. YEAR i will tell you.

- 1:07:25Speaker 1: that that.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: That texas was In. Omaha it was.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Six it Was Jeff Ogilv Okay phil had a two
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: shot lead at wingfoot going into the last, hole and
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: like you, said pulled it way left into THE i
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: mean it was it was left of left into the
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: you know grand. STANDS i think he tried the you
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: know lay up and his lay up wasn't good and
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: just like that made double And.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Jeff, ogilvy, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: SIX i.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: WAS i was In, omaha was there For westwood one

- 1:09:12Speaker 1: said they were traditional bone in, wings no, sauces spices or.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Rubs his quote was they were good coming, in BUT
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: i woke up at four am sweating and it just
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: started throwing up for a few. Hours it was a tough.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Morning he sat out the game yesterday with food. Poisoning he,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: SAID i can SAY i will not eat wings for five.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: YEARS i swear because the thought of it right now
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: makes me.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Sick he did play.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Today he went over for Fort he struck out three,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: times so feeling a little bit better. Anyway my question,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: is is you've been around big, leaguers tell folks a
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: little bit about it, Is by and, large when guys
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: are in the hotel the night before the. Game is
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: it almost a given that they're always going to order
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: room service or takeout or something like, that or do
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: they go out to dinner?
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: Much not, really you, know most of the time players
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: will have dinners planned when they.
- 1:10:02Speaker 7: Land and in.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: Every city there are, Restaurants like in every city you go,
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: to there are like the top ten restaurants that every
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: team eats. At but depending on how the travel day,
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: went how the when the plane, landed sometimes you just
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: have to do the proverbial room. Service AND i gotta tell,
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: You i'm the same way with.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: SUSHI i have some bad sushi and it's about a
- 1:10:26Speaker 7: year BEFORE i can't even think about it, again And
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: i'm in that window right. Now so it's where such
- 1:10:32Speaker 7: creatures of.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Habit on the road as to where we eat and
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: the places we like to, go that you got to
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: be very very.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Careful sometimes where is a place that you thought was.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Good you don't have to name in the, restaurant but
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: just the. City where was the place that you thought was,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: good that people told you was. Good maybe you'd even
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: eat in there before it was, good and then you
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: had a really bad experience and you've like sworn it,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: off you'll never go there.
- 1:10:57Speaker 7: AGAIN i don't want to name the.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Restaurant, no what city.
- 1:11:06Speaker 7: That would most recently?
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Be?
- 1:11:10Speaker 7: Chicago? Really, yeah a pretty famous place In.
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: Chicago, Yeah i'm me And Jim Toldy hall Of, Famers
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Jim tomy have been traveling around seeing players for the.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: Draft And jim AND i are pretty large.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Guys, yeah and we have one maybe a bad, game
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: never a bad, meal and so we pride ourselves on
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: really good.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Restaurants, wow, okay all, Right so then if if you
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: have a bad, one then then uh then at that,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: point do you do you like put it on probation
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: for a while or does it depend on how sick
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: you got as to whether you'll go back and then.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: You will never?
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: Return is it never? Return it's a never? Return?
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Okay all, right.
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: There's too many great options out.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: There, okay all? Right, UH i want to ask your
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: opinion on. Something T Jim bowden did a piece For
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: The athletic where he ranked eleven recent extensions and the
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: title is which teams did the best deals and who?
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Overpaid and we don't have to get into all, that
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: BUT i just want TO i want to get your
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: thoughts on some of these extensions and what it means
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: for certain. Teams first of, all let me start with
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: the ball club you're very familiar with because your son
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: works in their employee for The San Diego, Padres Jackson
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: merrill nine, year one hundred and thirty five million dollar deal,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: There Christian, campbell you've spoken of of The Red sox
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: eight year sixty million dollar. Deals that's a. Couple and
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: then of course the guy that you know very, Well
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Garrett crochet who went over to The Red sox and
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: the deal and got the extension of six, years one
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: hundred and seventy.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Million let me start with those three and get your
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: thoughts on those.
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: Extensions so really it comes down to each organization looking
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: at their individual players and, saying this is a generational
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: type player that the price tag is not going to go,
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: Back so you're talking about buying them out of their
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: three arbitration years.
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: And then wanting to keep them around for longer than.
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: That most of the, time when these extensions, happen they
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: happen with teams that are built to, win, now, uh
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: and you're just you're eliminating the financial question marks of
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: your best. Players so that you know how much financial
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: flexibility you may have to go out to build the
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: team around. You.
- 1:13:26Speaker 7: Uh AND i will tell you.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: That most of the, time with these big, deals the
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: backside of the, deals clubs.
- 1:13:33Speaker 7: Are always trying to get out of.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: Them they'll they'll they'll end up trying to move the
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: player and move the money at less acquisition costs because
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: the window to win typically is. Clothes AND i think
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: that that teams hope for the very very best for the.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: Deals BUT i think when you look at, them most
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: of the time they are teams that are built to
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: win right. Now we want to we want to get
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: as much financial certainty with our best players as we,
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: can knowing that on the back side of, it we're
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: probably going to be trying to move those players and
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: or some of the money with those.
- 1:14:04Speaker 7: Deals in the end.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Are teams more reluctant to give that kind of an
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: extension to a.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: Pitcher here's an.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Example The guardians just gave Tanner byby an extension five,
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: years forty eight, million And Jim bowden's take on it
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: was he, SAID i never liked giving pitchers who are
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: under team control long term extensions because of the risk
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: of injuries or. Decline these, days over any five year
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: period Of Tommy john surge who are another significant setback
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: is always, possible but it's worth the risk when a
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: pitcher is, young doesn't have a lot of innings on their,
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: arm and has a chance to be a top of
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: the rotation. Starter are those the key factors as you
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: see them as to whether a young pitcher gets an
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: extension like, That, well, ONE.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: I think it depends on that does the picture and
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: body everything you're looking for as far as a great,
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: teammate great community.
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: Leader is it somebody that.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: Even on the backside of, it is going to have
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: value to the Rotation from the injury, Standpoint, craig forty
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: percent of the pitchers In Major League.
- 1:15:06Speaker 7: Baseball have Had Tommy. John and you, know if it's
- 1:15:10Speaker 7: not if it's.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: Win we had this discussion today on a leadership call
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: In Kansas.
- 1:15:15Speaker 7: City it's not if it's. Win so really you try
- 1:15:19Speaker 7: not to factor that.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: In but if the player embodies everything that you're looking
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: for from a team, standpoint teammate, standpoint talent, standpoint you
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: kind of feel like there's going to be some digression
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: to the. Talent but if you feel like you've got
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: a can't miss. Arm you go ahead and lock them,
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: up because injuries are going to be a part of.
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: It but right now the demand is so much greater
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: than the supply of pitchers at the major league, level.
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: Especially starters that any of them that you.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: Have if you're built to win like they, are, again
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: you want to go ahead and lock those guys.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Up talk of baseball With Gene watson here on thirteen.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Hundred you said it before the start of the. Season you,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: SAID i on The, rangers this is a team you
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: feel with it be a real threat to wind up
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: in The World. SERIES i think the two teams you
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: mentioned most prominently from The American league were The rangers And.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Orioles but with regard to The, rangers who have started
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: off as as strongly as they have right.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: Now nine to.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Four right, now you also Mentioned Kumar, rocker and you
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: also Mentioned Jack lyder and those GUYS i guess haven't
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: disappointed early.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: On, No and this is a team and everybody Knows
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Bruce bochi does such a great job every other. Year
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: you saw it In San francisco and, ten twelve and
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: fourteen with The World. Series you, know winning A World
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: series is incredibly. Hard managing the season after winning A
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: World series as even, harder and SO i think they
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: kind of just really hit the reset. Button they've got
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: some starters that have gotten healthy. Again Corey seeger has been,
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: outstanding their scoring, runs they play very good, defense and you,
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: know they use the entire. Roster it's not the same
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: lineup every. Night it's not the guys sitting in the
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: same spot in the order every.
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: Night they're very creative with the way they approach.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: It and this is a team that's going to be,
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: very very good the entirety of the season and should
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: be pushing first shot in The World.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Series let's talk about the other team In. Texas houston
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: is at five and six right. Now Jordan alvarez has
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: been off to a slugger. Start did hit his first
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: time run the other other. Day what about your early
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: impressions what The asteroids are doing.
- 1:17:30Speaker 7: Well they're really going to have to like sure up
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: the starting.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: Pitching it be really really, consistent BECAUSE i don't think
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: they're going to score the runs that they. Scored when
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: you Lose Kyle tucker and when you Lose Alec, brigman
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: that's two very big batch to your. Offense Camp smith
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: is going to be a very good major league, player
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: but he's Not Alex bregman right.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: Now that was a very good trade for.
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: Them but SO i think they know the offensively that
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: they've taken a step back from an overall stand point
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: that he got a. Pitch you got to play better
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: defense and just keep your out of the water as
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: long as you can that the, mission because it is an,
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: extremely extremely tough mission when you talk About texas and
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: what they have going In seattle and they're starting, pitching
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: and The angels and the balance that they have of
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: that team and The oaklands arguably one of the better
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: young teams in the division that nobody ever talks. About
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: so they're just gonna have to be very very consistent
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: on the.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Mouth, yeah, YEAH i want to go back to The
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: angels a bit. Here everybody looked at this as it
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: being another. REBUILD i, said they're off to a seven
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: and three. Start what stands out you about what The
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: angels are doing?
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: Well perry did such a great job of going out
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: and getting young position players and drafting uh premium position
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: players Like Zach. Nto he went and Got logan Hot
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: logan o'happy from The phillies For brandon Marsh Nate, sanwell
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: who got it For they got it first base in the,
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: draft And perry's just not afraid to put those guys
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: in the big leagues right. Away but the key to
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: their entire season Is Mike trout staying, healthy and right
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: now he has. Been And Mike trout on the field
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: does so much for that. Team and then when you
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: get him to buy in to making the change to right,
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: field that's even a bigger. Thing And Ron washington is
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: a tremendus. Manager he's got his team prepared to. Play
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: and these guys have a very very good young kitching
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: at the major league level and more coming in the minor.
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: Leagues and you, know everybody bangs on The angels. System
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: you know they rank them anywhere between twenty six to.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: Thirty but their drafts the last five years have one
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: of the higher wars in all.
- 1:19:37Speaker 7: Of baseball at the major league.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: Level SO i, think you, know they don't ask how
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: they ask how many at the major league. Level and
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: he's certainly done a great job of drafting and then
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: getting those guys in the big.
- 1:19:48Speaker 7: Leagues and it's all coming to the forefront right.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: Now you brought up The, athletics and they're they're the
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: kind of the vagabonds as we as we know right,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: now having to play In. Sacramento in, fact if you
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: look in the, standings they're just listed As. Athletics for,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: me an old school, guy reminds me of WHEN i
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: was growing Up North carolina going to WATCH aba games
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: for The Carolina. Cougars whenever they played the team From,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: florida they were just called The floridians because they played
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: In miami And tampa And jacksonville were just The.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: Floridians The athletics are playing.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: In, sacramento, however, however know one thing the returns the
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Vibes i'm hearing is that the games that they're playing
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: In sacramento the games that The rays are playing in
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: The yankees Spring. Ballpark AND i was down there last
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: week for The Women's final, four AND i ALMOST i
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: just didn't have. Time we didn't get there in. TIME
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: i was going to go and see The pirates played
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: them Because schemes was. Pitching but so, far it sounds
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: like all of the reception has been really good for
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: the fans filling those minor league.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: Ballparks to see those two teams.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: Well from An athletics, STANDPOINT i think we all know
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: over the past twenty five, years nobody has accepted their
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: identity more than The. Athletics we just know who they
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: are as an. Organization they've got very good young position.
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: Players when you talk About Tyler soderstrom and A Brent
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: rooker and A Jacob, wilson they've got really really good
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: young position, players and they're kind of in a holding
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: patting for as exciting as they are a young, TEAM
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: i think as it gets closer to moving Into Las,
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: vegas you're gonna see ownership begin to spend more money
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: and that windows kind of going to be open for
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: them right when they get to.
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: Move SO i love everything that they're.
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: Doing and then when you talk About, TAMPA i talked.
- 1:21:34Speaker 7: To Perry manassei and they're playing them this. Week the
- 1:21:36Speaker 7: ballpark seems to be very. UNIQUE i don't think the
- 1:21:39Speaker 7: fans have.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: Been break and braced it quite as much they, hope
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: but very interesting case and it's gonna be fun to
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: see how that plays out over the.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Summer talking Baseball Major League baseball With Geene watson from
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: The Chicago White sox for an office here on thirteen
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: under The.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: ZONE.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: G you, Know i'm sure you're sick of being asked
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: about torpedo bats and probably sick of talking about, it
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: BECAUSE i think they've kind of been and exist since
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: for a little bit and just the media and the
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: national fans didn't. Know but what have you made of
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: this national, phenomenon how The yankees have used these torpedo
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: bats going? Forward and do you THINK mlb will kind
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: of maybe change the way they're.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: MADE i.
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: DON'T i don't think that That Major League baseball has
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: And i've, been you, know being an old. Schlubby i'm
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: pretty dialed in with the equipment Of Major League baseball
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: since nineteen eighty, nine and you, know it's it just
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: happened to be one particular weekend where they're facing one
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: of their ex pitchers and they had a really big
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: offensive weekend and the torpedo bat got a lot of,
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: attention and good for.
- 1:22:42Speaker 7: The bat company to be able to guarder that type
- 1:22:45Speaker 7: of attention in a.
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: Weekend but But i've always been it's always the hitter
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: and not the. Bat the technology of it's, great but you,
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: know you still have to be able to make solid.
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: CONTACT i don't think it's it's been. AROUND i, Mean
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: i've seen one hundred of them in the last five.
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: YEARS i just think you.
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: Got a lot of momentum off of one weekend and
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: it'll settle back.
- 1:23:06Speaker 7: In BUT i don't THINK i don't see an issue with.
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: It from a technology, standpoint from the league being, allowed
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: and certainly hitters are creatures of habit and creatures of,
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: comfort and if they feel like it's something that can help,
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: them they're going to use. It if, NOT i think
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: you'll see the same bats that have always been.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Used, okay So, Gino i'll bring this thing full circle.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Here as we started to wrap, UP i started off
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: by talking about The Cody bellinger food poisoning. Thing and
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: there have been some bizarre injuries and down throughout the. Years,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: now help me remember this BECAUSE i was at AND

- 1:24:46Speaker 7: Off, OH i. DON'T i. DON'T i don't.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: Really really trust the information on that stuff when it

- 1:24:54Speaker 7: Actual witnesses that have seen.
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: It but there's certainly been a lot of freak, injuries

- 1:25:31Speaker 1: his shoulder out or. Something it was one of one
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: of those. Deals it was a scary when when he
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: played For cleveland IF i remember, correctly and and it's
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: either shoulder or his back or something like that with spiders,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: spiders he was like scared of a, spider was swatting
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: in a spider and was uh it was afraid or

- 1:26:23Speaker 1: comments From longhorn's head, Coach Steve sarkisi when we continue
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: on thirteen under the. Zone so we have the answer on,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: that And cameron unearthed the answer with the. THING i
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: was trying to remember a guy who played For cleveland
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: who had some sort of issue with spiders that led
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: to a bizarre. Injury and you found it the one
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: and Only Glenn Allen.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Hill when you.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Said the, NAME i was, like that's. It it's that.

- 1:27:09Speaker 3: Craig i'm trying to figure. Out this is nineteen ninety,
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: yep nineteen, ninety so this is this would have been
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: either his rookie year or the second year he was
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: in the majors and one night Mister hill was asleep
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: and all of a sudden got an extreme case of a. Rachnophobia,
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: yeah he was at his. Base he was scared of spiders,
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: anyway wasn't. He, well so the story, is you, know he's,
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: sleeping he has a, dream a spider's in, it And,
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: hill who's kind of in this semi conscience, state jumped
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: out of his, bed runs into another, room thinking that
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: there are spiders on him or, whatnot ends up crashing
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: through a glass table and suffers bruises on his, feet
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: legs and. Elbows the next day he goes on the
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: fifteen day D. L h read the season mark, spiders,
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: right that's how. Spiders so Afterwards hill he didn't he

- 1:28:11Speaker 3: noophobiac he, said, No, no it was more about my stress and.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: Diet.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Quote spiders just happened to be WHAT i dreamt about that.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Night he could have been about a car that kept
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: running over. Me it could have been about you, know. Caterpillars. Quote,
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: okay all, right well so there it was. Interesting and
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: by the, way our Resident guardians fan chimed, in but
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: we'd already finished up With geno what he?
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Said ask please Ask gino.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: If he thinks which he, THINKS wi happened first the

- 1:29:05Speaker 3: their last national championship in.
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: Football think about. That Vin schung was playing football for

- 1:29:30Speaker 1: a thing For Patrick. Dempsey, okay she Liked.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: Patrick, hey he's been a multi or, yeah multi sexiest man.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: Alive when, yeah she she really she really liked herself
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: From Patrick. Dempsey so that was that was, Why that's
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: why she started watching. It but then she really got into,
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: it into the show and.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: Said you know, WHAT i watched the other night and
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: watched a single episode of. It but at my Wife linda's,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: SUGGESTION i watched the season finale with her because she'd
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: seen every episode up to that point of The White
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: lotus in your.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: Thoughts it was, intriguing it was in for.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: Now she gave me a pretty good primer on it
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: to WHERE i could learn some things and understood some
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: things about.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: It and AND i always liked We you had not
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: seen any previous, episodes not.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: One, episode BUT i jumped in on the season finale of,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: it and it was it was interesting. Enough i've always
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Liked Jason isaacs the. Actor for folks who don't know
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Who Jason isaacs, is he Was Lucius malfoy And Harry.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: Potter he was the, long white haired father Of Draco.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Malfoy it was just a mean. Guy if you saw
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: the Movie The, patriot he Was, tavington the ruthless uh you,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: know cavalry.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: Colonel, Yeah Jason.
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: Isaacs and supposedly the family that he was head of
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: was From North. Carolina, yes so have you heard the,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Backlash well That Parker posey at least she kind of
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: had a little bit Of carolina, accent.
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: A little bit That. Oh's they could the, Rest, yeah
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: the rest of, THEM i didn't. THINK i THINK i
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: thought it was.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: Great so he the family, is they're All duke grabs
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: except for the, Wife Parker.
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: Posey but throughout the.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: Show throughout the, season one of the common themes Is
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: Jonathan isaacs And Jason jason AND I place for The Orlando.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Magic Jason isaac's the actor is thinking about, suicide so
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: he's Wearing i'll be wearing A duke shirt with a
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: gun in his. Hand, Well Duke university didn't like how
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: he was portraying the, university so they came out AGAINST,
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: hbo condemning how the character was portrayed and how they
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: use the university's. Name, now my thought, Is i'm SURE
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: hbo had to go to the university and ask for
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: permission to be able to wear.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Shirt maybe ask, hey is.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: Our character going to try and kill his family in
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: in this?
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Show maybe kind of think.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: That out, first you, know because, yeah you're gonna try
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: to poison your family using the poisonous for death suicide,
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: scene the suicide. Tree, yeah from, that it was. Compelling
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: there was a. Lot i've always Liked Scott glenn as an,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: actor and he. Is he's a much older version of
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: himself to, anyway it was pretty. Interesting it kind of
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: reminded me OF i was a big student Of. SHAKESPEARE
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: i took A shakespeare analysis course in. COLLEGE i used
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: to tell people THAT i got out of there On
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: New hamlets underwear.
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: Size you. Know it was it was just really really in.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: Depth On shakespeare and it kind of had the feel
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: of almost Some shakespearean.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Tragedy there's a lot Of greek mythology themes where to
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: get what you want you end up losing what you
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: love the, most which is kind of maybe a little
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: bit of a, spoiler but With Walter coggin's, character, yeah
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: and his girlfriend in the. Chase so, yeah, yeah it's
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: so you watch it, Then, okay SO i watched it
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: the other night for the first.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: Time but it it was interesting, Interesting, yeah, yeah it.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Was all, right let's hear a little more from Us
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: sor before we get done with. TODAY a couple other.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Things first of, all a couple of comments from. Him
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: portal season is blooming it's. Blossoming so Does sara anticipate
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: being active in the spring?
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Portal, well we're we're we're.
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: Always going to evaluate the, portal you, know and as you,
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: know for those that, KNOW i, mean we we really
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: try to identify the portal to where we think there's a.
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: Need but yet also is the person we're bringing an
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: upgrade to maybe what we have or can it can
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: it supplement what we have at certain.
- 1:33:45Speaker 6: Positions naturally there's a couple of.
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: Positions depth, wise we're not where we need to be right,
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: now so we'll we'll look at the portal that. Way
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: our numbers are down at receiver right, now you, know
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: from a scholarship, standpoint our numbers are down on the
- 1:33:57Speaker 5: defensive line from from where our numbers really should. Be
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: uh and our numbers really down at tight. End and
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: so it's not a secret that will we'll look to the.
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: Portal BUT i don't want to take a guy just
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: for a. Number i'll want to take. It if you're
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: gonna go on the, portal can he help that that
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: room play at even a higher. Level and so we'll
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: have to assess. It you know what we you, know
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: it's it's it's free. AGENCY i like to, say but
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: but they have to opt into free, agency and so
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: it's not like you can just, say, hey we need
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: a defensive, tackle let's go.
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: Get a really good.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: One if they're, Available, sure we'll try, to but that
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: doesn't mean that that that that caliber a player will
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: be available to.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: Them seems like we Hear sartin say this every, year
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: because he gets asked every year about. This you're going
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: to be active in the Part he's, like we're not
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: going to take a player just to take a player
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: is there has to be a need and there has
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: to be somebody who who they think can fit and
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: fill that.
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: Need that's that's the universal answer to. That.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: Uh he was Asked, also what's been the most rewarding
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: and challenging part of the?
- 1:34:57Speaker 6: Spring they're the.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: Same the most rewarding is watching young people get better
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: from one practice to the, next and that we've got
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: to coach every SINGLE i mean we literally are coaching every.
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: Play that's the most challenging part, Too right when you
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: have so many young players and so many new faces
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: that you can Assume Calik lockett And Jamie french are
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: gonna know what to do every play on even on
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: something that could be as, simple because LIKE i, said
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: they may have learned it four practices, ago but we've
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: stacked installs on, them and so we've got to coach
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: every single. Play and is that challenging as a, Coach,
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: sure but it's also rewarding and gratifying when you start
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: to see them get it and you start to see
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: them grow and get better from day to.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: Day all, right all, right so there it is comments
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: from us. Ark all, right we'll be back to wrap
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: up today's edition of the program here on thirteen under The.
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: Zone
