- 0:00What's going on everybody and welcome to the Deconstructing Topic Podcast.
- 0:05Good day folks, my name is David and I'm your host of this legendary podcast.
- 0:10What's going on? Talk to me, I'm talking to you.
- 0:13You already know we got another interesting topic podcast. We got an interesting,
- 0:17interesting little episode going on here.
- 0:21You know, a lot of things that I'm going to talk about with this episode
- 0:25in regards to just throwing it out there already pan flight
- 0:29103 which it's uh it's
- 0:33a sad event where a plane on december
- 0:3721st 1988 exploded in midair
- 0:41and it was going from frankfurt to new
- 0:43york or my understanding and 270 lives of killed and just coming off i was just
- 0:51watching on peacock i gotta do the thing with the with the throw what's going
- 0:56on what's going on today i'm an exciting day as i'm recording this i got my
- 1:00uh no today fighting irish plane tonight.
- 1:04Me me woo let's get it so i've been talking all day let's get it but lockaby
- 1:10l-o-c-k-e-r-b-i-e scotland so there's a show on peacock called lockaby which
- 1:18is mini series is it's basically you know, given the story of the situation,
- 1:23what happened, and I want to say that I like to talk about things that I,
- 1:28you know, because I was in 1988,
- 1:30you know, I was a little peanut, you know what I mean?
- 1:33I do recall something that happened with Pan Am.
- 1:38For those people of age, remember Pan Am Airlines.
- 1:41That, you know, blue logo, white letters, and so on,
- 1:44if I'm not mistaken, at one point was the number one
- 1:47airplane company or airline company i think
- 1:51but then and i think that you know
- 1:54if for those of you know are familiar with
- 1:57pan am airlines some might argue
- 2:00that this event that occurred in 1988 it
- 2:04was a bomb and i'm gonna talk about it and it's an interesting story that
- 2:07that that it might have kind of
- 2:10been the icing on the cake for pan am
- 2:13airlines as it was a struggling airlines and my understanding
- 2:16is that united and uh delta airlines kind
- 2:19of like bought some of the flights or some of the location whatever it is i
- 2:25just know pan am doesn't exist anymore but a lot of people in my age might remember
- 2:29pan am airlines you know can't remember if i took pan am i took eastern airline
- 2:34well i can't say it's aight.
- 2:38My family and I when we came from Puerto Rico, but I do remember seeing the
- 2:43Pan Am thing going on there.
- 2:45Maybe Pan Am was a little bit expensive, but they do have limited flights because
- 2:49you don't want to give the world just one airline company, just give them all
- 2:56the routes and they'd just be a monopoly.
- 2:58You know, you just got to break it up. You know what I mean? It's like a pizza pie.
- 3:02You know, you got to break them in slices. Everybody got pizza. You got a pizza.
- 3:05You got a slice. You got a slice. And in this case in Pan Am,
- 3:09Flying from Frankfurt To New York Again via London my understanding is that
- 3:15There was a radio And it's crazy how We're talking about in the late 80s Right.
- 3:22And I don't know if airlines Changed
- 3:25that I might Do remember going
- 3:28a couple of times Puerto Rico in the 90s with a Walkman of
- 3:32some sort Now if you look at a Walkman
- 3:35independent now for those people that never
- 3:40heard of a walkman it's a little port of a radio where you put headphones and
- 3:43you listen to it you know hey back then we had something hey
- 3:46we didn't have these phones back then we had little our technology was a little
- 3:50bit different you know what i'm saying so my thing is this so my understanding
- 3:55is that there was a samsonite briefcase samsonite was like i think they still
- 4:00exist they made some nice heavy duty luggages or baggages or whatever it is that they do,
- 4:06and somebody, for some reason, because...
- 4:09You know the flight was going it was going somewhere
- 4:12so it already had my understanding
- 4:16it already had luggages so somebody put
- 4:19in like this radio i mean again it looks
- 4:22like in that radio they might have put a little bomb and it's
- 4:26exploded and it was a ticking it was a ticking
- 4:29time so the person who was charged of
- 4:32it was not in that obviously was not in the airplane so it
- 4:35was one of those device where you put a timer and it
- 4:39just happened to just hit the time where December
- 4:4221st I think it was like a little bit late evening
- 4:45and then boom so we go back to like I'm trying to start to think if things have
- 4:50changed because of 9-11 when it comes to security there's devices that you cannot
- 4:54have I mean when you do a carry on there's things that you cannot have there
- 4:58especially things that might look like you could put something inside so I don't know if.
- 5:03I don't know that prior to 9-11, September 11 attacks that, you know,
- 5:08if I cannot say security when it comes to bringing devices, because I do recall having Walkmans.
- 5:15I do recall for some reason in the 90s, early 90s.
- 5:19Keep in mind, this was like years after this bombing, even though it did not
- 5:22happen in the United States.
- 5:24It happened in Europe, obviously, Scotland, but
- 5:27just I don't know if that changed so i just want to bring that up that it's
- 5:30it's so interesting how the event of
- 5:33don 11 september 11 which i think it's the
- 5:36kind of thing that changed so many things especially the
- 5:40airline service or the way we get service or
- 5:43the things that we could bring you know sadly looks
- 5:46like in 1988 that didn't change the the
- 5:49show in itself is it's as based on the father of
- 5:53one of the um the victims
- 5:56and basically he you
- 5:59know i don't know if this was true or not but you know my understanding
- 6:02is that this individual i'm actually kind of
- 6:05after the fact that this happened he still managed to
- 6:09kind of sneak in a radio with a fake bomb going
- 6:12from london no i'm sorry not london but going i believe
- 6:15it was scotland or london to new york and he
- 6:18basically it was saying hey like what's going
- 6:21on how can it still be a thing where
- 6:24after the fact that somebody was able to sneak this
- 6:27little radio i think it was a toshiba radio i'm not gonna say it's it's it's
- 6:32little it could it could be like 14 inches or something to that effect and a
- 6:36little bit bulky but the fact that it's bulky and you could put something inside
- 6:39yeah and this individual if i could uh i can't believe that i forgot uh.
- 6:47Let me see as I'm doing a little bit of research going on here.
- 6:53So, Jim Swire, which is the father, and it's interesting because the stories
- 6:58surround what happened that his daughter lost her life in that bombing.
- 7:04I just want to give people a heads up in regards to that. It was not the first
- 7:08bombing that took a lot of people.
- 7:10My understanding in India, not in India, but in Canada, I think three or four
- 7:15years, I think it was a big plane because it was going from Canada,
- 7:18I believe, to India, where I think 300 and something lives were taken away.
- 7:23I believe that's the biggest catastrophe of airlines of all times when it comes to passengers.
- 7:30But Lockerbie's up there. Now, Lockerbie was a big thing because of the following
- 7:35situation of what happened. Who done it?
- 7:39There's those in the little conspiracy were that believe that it's one of those
- 7:44situations where the government and my understanding is that there were people
- 7:49in the government in england because.
- 7:51You know it looks like this plane have gone from london to frankfurt to new
- 7:56york if i'm not mistaken so some people uh how can i say they they got the act
- 8:02so they resigned because there was reports and And if you look at the show Lockerbie,
- 8:07and even if you put Lockerbie, you know, there's a lot of documentaries because,
- 8:11you know, it has some twists and turns because the aftermath was that,
- 8:16again, whodunit, right?
- 8:18There was a lot of speculations, whether there's the Palestinian Liberation
- 8:23Army, this army, this and that.
- 8:26You know, there were a lot of where it's the, I believe there was a little bit
- 8:31of the Irish Republic, something to that effect.
- 8:34But it came down to that the people or the person that was accused Or let's
- 8:39say the jail time was a Libyan nationalist.
- 8:45And if at that time So in the movie, and I don't want to spoil it But I'm going
- 8:51to spoil it, just watch the show Now keep in mind, I just want to give people
- 8:55a heads up I'm actually cooking,
- 8:57I'm using my air fryer So any moment in time,
- 9:00my air fryer might And you might catch it on it's gonna make a beep beep song
- 9:05so no pun intended you know what i mean i'm not trying to be on some funny ass
- 9:10stuff here but i'm just saying as i'm recording this i'm making a little bit
- 9:15of chicken on my air fry you know i love my air fry one of the best things that ever happened
- 9:19in a recent time when it comes to technology but if you hear a beep you know
- 9:24i'm all right i'll be all right it's just no pun intended it's not part of the show please.
- 9:30And I say that because a lot of times we associate a beep sound with a bomb,
- 9:36you know, whether that's a thing or not, you know, knock on wood.
- 9:40But it's one of those situations that this individual that was caught and convicted,
- 9:46his name, you know, I don't even know.
- 9:49I hate to butcher his name. Al-Buset Al-Mugari was a person that was convicted
- 9:55in connection with the bombing.
- 9:56He's a Libyan from the country of Libya.
- 10:00Nationalists now the show it centralized
- 10:03on the one of the fathers again one
- 10:06of the father of one of the victims and
- 10:09he went on a like a 10 year i mean he was because
- 10:12he wanted answers basically and i understand jim swire hey listen your daughter
- 10:16and you kind of start to kind of put pieces like hit him because one of the
- 10:21things that he kind of triggered him is that okay so So you're talking to me
- 10:28that this plane that was going to go to New York, United States.
- 10:32And we are days before December 25th, which is Christmas, and you would think
- 10:38that people would flood their airplane and be like, yo, we in New York.
- 10:43Listen, I'm in New York City, you feel me? And I'll be more specific.
- 10:48This plane was going to head to JFK, New York City. but New
- 10:51York City you know it gets flooded with tourists during
- 10:55the holiday time during the Christmas time you already know
- 10:58we got the New Year's thing it gets flooded so he
- 11:02kind of tends to question so you telling me
- 11:05that this plane was only
- 11:0870 percent occupied you know what I'm saying
- 11:1170 percent occupied going to New York City during Christmas
- 11:14something ain't going on something ain't right and to
- 11:17find out that in that flight there were
- 11:21supposed to be some important people as part of the uh how
- 11:25could i say england's government and other people
- 11:28from germany and united states my understanding i'm not
- 11:31sure if any famous or any known person you know with all due respect to the
- 11:35the victims here but i'm not sure you know because sometimes when these things
- 11:39happen some there's something going on you know what i mean but for him to kind
- 11:43of figure that so So you gave a heads up because there was a threat.
- 11:49It's not like if this happened randomly, there was a threat that,
- 11:52hey, just letting you guys know.
- 11:54So the government, especially the England, already had a kind of an idea of
- 12:00what was going to happen, sadly.
- 12:02So what happens? Hey, you give a heads up to these important people,
- 12:08people part of the government, whatever it is. Hey, be careful. There's a threat.
- 12:12So what happens? You don't take this plane. So that's kind of like a red flag
- 12:17For Jim Swire to kind of say So.
- 12:21If you was able To tell those people Because they important That they're so direct.
- 12:28Prior to Christmas, then why not double check the back, if at least, at least.
- 12:36And I think that's where some people might have said that Pan Am,
- 12:40because they were kind of struggling with money.
- 12:43And you got to keep in mind that Pan Am, even though they're what an American
- 12:46company, they work internationally. I believe they were the number one airline internationally.
- 12:53So it's one of those deals where if they were struggling financially,
- 12:57they might not have pumped money into security
- 13:01you got dogs that could sniff bombs or things to
- 13:04that effect so it looks like that could have
- 13:07been one of those things why some people might
- 13:10kind of allude that this would have been the kind of narrowing the coffin for
- 13:15the pan am company so obviously jim swire the father of the victim is raising
- 13:22questions so now my thing is this You put my daughter Any kids,
- 13:28anybody on board on that plane,
- 13:30And you're telling me Well, let them be If it happens, it happens If it don't,
- 13:35it don't But if it happens, oops, whatever At least it's not us At least it's
- 13:41not the important people,
- 13:43So why did it happen, right?
- 13:45And obviously there was a lot of Friction or conflict When it comes to the country
- 13:51of Libya Located in Africa and the dictator at that time.
- 13:58The people who kind of have an idea, let me... Oh, man.
- 14:04You know, Muhammad Gaddafi, for those people out there who are familiar with
- 14:10Gaddafi, sadly, Colonel Gaddafi had a lot to do with it.
- 14:15My understanding is that Gaddafi, and this is interesting, Muammar Gaddafi,
- 14:20let's go, who was in office, And he was the leader,
- 14:24the president, the dictator, whatever you want to call the general,
- 14:27whatever it is, in Libya from 1979 to October of 2011.
- 14:34And it's one of those things where, you know, so what happened was that there
- 14:40was a lot of pressure on Gaddafi.
- 14:42And especially what happened with this situation Because it looks like everybody
- 14:47was pointing Based on evidence that these Libyan nationalists Who.
- 14:55How can I say Took instruction from the Gaddafi Muammar Gaddafi,
- 15:00once again Is that to say, hey, go to there,
- 15:03boom So there was a lot of pressure after the fact And my understanding is that
- 15:08James Swire Actually met Gaddafi Hey, shit off.
- 15:13Kind of in a way of, hey, listen, if you know the truth and if you know that
- 15:17there were some of your people, because even at that time, there were people
- 15:21that might have said, well, maybe Gaddafi didn't know that these people basically did something.
- 15:27Because even though there was one person that was convicted,
- 15:30I believe there was a couple of others, if I'm not mistaken.
- 15:33But it's one of those things, well, if this happened under your nose,
- 15:37under your leadership, people acting fool, bombing planes, then what's going on with your people?
- 15:44Like Gaddafi, and you know, Gaddafi probably be like, well, you don't know,
- 15:47not me, I didn't know nothing. You know what I mean?
- 15:51I did not know nothing, but there's fingers that point out, there's some evidence
- 15:56that point out that Gaddafi didn't struck, something's happened.
- 16:00So what happened in some weird, crazy way after, what is it,
- 16:0610, maybe 15 years after the bombing?
- 16:08What happened was Gaddafi was like, you know what?
- 16:11My fault. Oops. My understanding is that he paid a billion dollars to the victims
- 16:18of the crash or something to that effect. They broke it.
- 16:21I didn't see how that payment was done. I believe it was during cash.
- 16:25I mean, my understanding Gaddafi, hey, listen, you are the president of a country.
- 16:28That means that you got billions somewhere.
- 16:34And then sadly eight nine years later Muammar Gaddafi got caught because he
- 16:40was charged of that crime but other things as well so that's a whole different
- 16:43story but the fact that that happened for a war leader uh,
- 16:49Whatever it is that you want to describe Gaddafi, for him to say,
- 16:54hey, my fault, my fault, even though you had a lot to do with it,
- 16:58my understanding is to come from some money instead of somebody else.
- 17:02I don't know if Pan Am, if Pan Am might have to also come from some money,
- 17:07my understanding as well.
- 17:09So it's one of those things that even though these victims received some type
- 17:12of compensation, regardless, that does not change the fact that their loved
- 17:17ones died in that airplane bombing.
- 17:20And then once again, this happened in 1988. It was a young little peanut.
- 17:25But growing up, you hear kind of the story because it was an ongoing investigation.
- 17:32For years, it was an ongoing investigation.
- 17:36So finally in a sense there was
- 17:39some type of peace once the individual was convicted
- 17:42he did time but uh he got cancer and i think that they let him be at his house
- 17:49and he died of natural causes well he died of cancer basically so you know it's
- 17:54a crazy story it's a good show i did enjoy this show there's a lot of things
- 17:58again like the gaddafi aspect of it i was not aware of it,
- 18:02or if I did hear something,
- 18:05I was just not too grasping into the situation.
- 18:11And, you know, sometimes it's funny because when things happen in life and these
- 18:17things happen, whether it's the airplane bombing or some type of terrorist attack
- 18:21or whatever it is, there are those people that tend to kind of question the narrative.
- 18:27And James Suarez is one of those, even though some people accuse him of going
- 18:32a little bit too extreme, too radical, going out there, you know,
- 18:37it's like, come on, you know, we already got the kill, you know, whatever it is, move on.
- 18:42And the fact that Jim Swire represents what happens a lot of times, and I'm like that too.
- 18:49When something happens, whether it's an airplane crash, whether it's a train,
- 18:54when something happens that involves an explosion, you know,
- 18:59you don't want to like, oh, okay, it's a bombing.
- 19:00Because sometimes it could have been something where it would just naturally
- 19:03happen. You know what I mean?
- 19:04Gas leaks, something. But I'm one of the mindset that the minute that you tend
- 19:10to kind of like, huh, in the case of Jay Suarez, be like, okay,
- 19:14something ain't right. You know what?
- 19:18Dig deep, find out what's going on. Because sometimes a lot of times,
- 19:22just like 9-11, the narrative, yes, airplanes crash into the World Trade Center.
- 19:28And then, you know, havoc came afterwards.
- 19:31But just the fact that time and time and time and time, even the Pearl Harbor
- 19:39attacks on 1941, December 7, 1941.
- 19:43Once again, the intelligence community in those respective countries,
- 19:48in this case in England, they knew that something was going to happen.
- 19:54And if there's someone or a group of people that want
- 19:56to know the truth i know that some people be like ah you know look at this conspiracy
- 20:00theories come on let it go it was just a gas leak you know the plane exploded
- 20:05maybe you know there was always something and we've seen lately plane crash
- 20:09if if people are familiar it's interesting because that plane was a boeing 747,
- 20:16Meaning it was a big plane And if we have seen some of the plane crash recently,
- 20:22Boeing, let's just say Has a tendency to cut corners Cut cars And sacrifice
- 20:29people's life For the sake of making Let's say in one flight Making $5,000,
- 20:36But putting people's life at risk Because something malfunctioned You know what I mean?
- 20:42So my thing is, you know, it's okay to kind of question the narrative. That's fine.
- 20:47You know, if you want to go on a tangent, you know, that aliens blew that up.
- 20:52You know, hey, you're on your own sometimes.
- 20:54But, hey, I'm not one to be like, you know what?
- 20:58Again, if your instinct is to question something, dig deep, find out what's going on.
- 21:03Again, Jim Swire did some work and some research. And, you know,
- 21:07he went on him and the parents.
- 21:09He just spearheaded and he was put in as that person to talk.
- 21:12But not just him, but the other parents and family members of those victims,
- 21:18they had a lot of questions.
- 21:21And sadly, people really did not have answers.
- 21:26But those are lives not only in the plane, but the people in Scotland,
- 21:33Lockerbie, Scotland, where the show, because it exploded.
- 21:37So my understanding exploded in the in the air
- 21:40and then uh chunks of pieces of the plane started to
- 21:43land on the ground and it hit people people were sleeping late in
- 21:46the night so and then when it crashed quick crash
- 21:50into the field if i'm not mistaken they
- 21:53were able to recover most of the part obviously no
- 21:55one survived but just the fact that it
- 21:58impacted not the people that were
- 22:01in the airplane but there were people in lockup b scotland hope
- 22:05you enjoy enjoy this uh it's one of those uh episodes and
- 22:08feel free to subscribe comment you already
- 22:11know hit that like wherever it is i'm giving you so much info so much going
- 22:17on so we could educate you and know a little bit of everything you know what
- 22:21i mean but you already know deconstruct the topic podcast we on the road let's
- 22:26make it happen i'm out of here peace make it happen.
