A man with a troubling criminal past, Darryl Short, 45, was fired from his job while awaiting trial after allegedly causing a deadly crash that killed motorcyclist Churone Walls. Witnesses say Short’s SUV went airborne, smashed into Walls, and dragged her before crashing into a pole — then he vanished in another car, leaving his phone behind in the wreckage.
