- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Daily Prisoner by GenJag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Allure.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Wednesday, December 10th.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: And we've heard from Liam Cohen.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's head coach.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Wednesday, press conference.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's always a good day to kind of set the table for the upcoming game, for the upcoming week.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: And to hear from from the head coach and Liam Cohen, as I've told y'all many times, just does a wonderful job communicating with the media.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's a reflection of how he communicates with everybody inside the building, which is a really special part of what he brings to the organization.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to talk about what he had to say about the jets, about the jags, all that good stuff, head into this game.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.

- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Look good while doing it.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll just kind of roll through an order my notes from this press conference.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Just kind of a little interesting different things he had to say and my kind of interpretation of them.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: So talked about what the jets do defensively from a coverage perspective and Aaron Glenn is a well-respected defensive coach in this league.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that they have
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: The guys right now, obviously, they got rid of Quinn and Williams, they got rid of sauce gardener.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't have the best group of just defensive talent.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: There are still some guys up front and throughout the defensive roster that can make plays, but they run a lot of man match concepts.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: And you think about man-match and what the Jaguars can probably do against that.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's potential matchups for Brian Thomas Jr. one-on-one Britain strange Jacobi Myers, and that probably doesn't really play well against the Jaguars.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: With the group that the Jets currently have, but they respect kind of the coaching and the teaching and all that stuff going on back there.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: the jets though.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they haven't picked off a pass, they haven't done a lot to slow down opposing offenses, but just interesting to hear Liam Cohen kind of talk about his respect for Aaron Glenn and for the defensive coaching and for the way they coach it up, but also talked about like what is a big challenge in facing the jets, special teams, they're really good in their
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: they've dealt with good return teams.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen them deal with the Tennessee Titans and some others and they've really improved.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think they've been a pretty good punt coverage unit.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars throughout the year.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think they've gotten a lot better at covering kicks over the last, you know, whatever, seven,
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: games, probably seven eight games, something like that, and have really just been a good special teams unit overall.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: So they'll be prepared.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: Heath Farwell is a really good special teams coordinator.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of talented guys when it comes to covering kicks and punts.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: Some of the safeties they have, linebackers, guys that get full effort, liquid, Allen, the list kind of goes on and on when it comes to good special teamers that the Jaguars have in terms of covering kicks and punt.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something to keep an eye on.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: And when you're playing a team that might not have the most talent, special teams can be a game changer, something that
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: ends up either helping you, or really hurting you.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you give up a special team's touchdown, even against the jets, that's gonna make this game a lot closer than you want it to be, or huge play on special teams, right?
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something to keep an eye on.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Cohen talked about, they have talented weapons and leadership.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: 80 Mitchell a don i Mitchell he has shown some things as of late Garrett Wilson's on iR Josh Reynolds was one of their leading receivers as well.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's on iR.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Reynolds had a cup of tea here in jacksonville but the big weapon right now and the other thing is like
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: quarterback wise, you don't know who's going to play Tyrod Taylor, Justin Fields, Brady Cook.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know at this point, probably Tyrod or Brady would think either way, I mean, I shouldn't say it either way.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Tyrod Taylor, he has the ability to manage an offense at this point in his career.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: He does.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's hard to do that when you don't have a lot of consistent
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: running back in Breeze Hall.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's kind of the talented weapons that you're talking about and talked about how they have good leadership, Liam Cohen did.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: And he was, you know, somebody brought up, I'm not sure who it was, that the jets are three and three in their last three games.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Which technically is true and Liam Cohen didn't go down the rabbit hole, but they beat the Bengals in Week 8 before Joe Burrow got back.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: They beat the Browns in week 10.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: They've lost three of their last four games.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's not like they're on some heater where they really have one, three out of them.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: They technically have one, three out of six, but they've also lost three out of their last four and the Patriots beat up on them.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens beat up on them, the Dolphins beat up on them.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: The only team they've been in the last month is Atlanta.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: 27 to 24 and we all know how Atlanta is struggling right now.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, this is not a jet's team that really presents a lot of big issues right now.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about the game more moving forward.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen was asked about this being kind of like a trap game or whatever the wording was, but he said, being a mature football team and being a team that is trying to grow, there is still a lot to correct on tape, so there's no like looking past an opponent.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's still a growth mindset for the Jag wars, because there's so much that they can coach based on the tape, and there's so much they can still improve on as a coaching staff, so
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: You have to take that at face value.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: You have to hope that the Jaguars don't have a trap game or a game where they're looking past their opponent.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think the way they've played most of the last month inspires confidence for you.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: So that's just, you're gonna be on, yeah, like, whatever you wanna call it, trap game watch.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: was asked about Trevor Lawrence and how he's playing, and specifically, the last couple weeks, but the last month or so, and said he's really spinning it well, like he's thrown in accurately, he's feeling more comfortable within the system and with the guys he's playing with.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's clear, you know, Cohen told him to let it rip about a month ago.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's been letting it rip, and he's gotten just more comfortable in my opinion with the players that he's playing with.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you've got better players.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers is a better player.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: He is upgraded the ability to have guys in the right spot when they're supposed to be there, Britain's strange coming back from injury, same exact thing.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen BTJ get back now and start being productive a little bit as a role player, complimentary auxiliary player, Tim Patrick can do that, Parker Washington when he's healthy.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, there's just more confidence I think in those guys, I think there's more confidence in the offensive line as well.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin Lannon doing a great job, Patrick McCarray has been doing better lately, and speaking of Colvin Lannon, I think it was J.P. asked Liam, has Colvin Lannon earned a starting spot.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: The initial response was I think so.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's not really definitive, I would say, from Liam Cohen, but
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think I think Colman Linen has her into starting spot.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: We did a whole video on that.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should be the Jaguar starting left tackle until he shows you that he shouldn't be.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want the full breakdown, you can go check out that video.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen is really feeling confident in the depth and the ability that they've had to get guys experience, get them on the field, and actually develop them and see them playing good football.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's happened at a lot of different spots.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I'm hopeful to see Cole Van Lannon on the field.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't definitively say like, yes, he's going to be in the starting lineup or yes, he's going to be in the starting lineup at left tackle.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: But he said I think so.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: He was also asked about Trevor Lawrence's really Trevor and Tim Patrick on the blitz where they didn't pick up the protection properly.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the Jaguars have been improving on their pre-snap communication and their offensive line communication picking up on where past rush blitzers are going to be coming from and things of that nature, but that was one play where they didn't.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor just had to make a great play rolled out to his left on the run, throwing their cross
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Tim Patrick, who was rolling with him.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's just a really cool play.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it was cool to hear Liam Cohen break that down.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: But overall, I think that it's kind of steady as she goes right now, the jag wars are trying to take everything one game at a time.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they're preaching.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the growth mindset week to week.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: So far this year, it's been working a lot more than it has and so let's hope it continues to work for the jag wars.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: As they host the Jets in Jacksonville, one PM on Sunday at the bank.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: That'll do it really appreciate y'all tuning in, have a good one.
