Latest / Stugotz and Company / Set 2: The Lebron/Jordan Debate (w/ Taylor Lewan and Will Compton)
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: It was a big night in the Association.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Last night A couple of series got started, Lakers and
- 0:09Speaker 2: Rockets as it started. Yet that's certain I want to
- 0:12Speaker 2: talk about it. Although I did find out that Marcus
- 0:15Speaker 2: Smart is a Laker, had no idea.
- 0:17Speaker 3: How about that?
- 0:18Speaker 4: You looked like you spent all the night researching that
- 0:20Speaker 4: and didn't get any sleep.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Now, listen, I told you the second season comes and
- 0:24Speaker 2: I am glued to the NBA. I watch all these games.
- 0:27Speaker 2: No one loves the NBA playoffs more than I do?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Is he not? Even you?
- 0:30Speaker 3: Go ahead, Stu.
- 0:31Speaker 5: You said you you don't really want to talk Lakers
- 0:34Speaker 5: too much, but I have a stat from that.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I want the series to start. Yeah, go ahead.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Luke Canard averages more playoff points per game as a
- 0:42Speaker 5: Laker than Kareem abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Will Chamberlain, James
- 0:46Speaker 5: Worthy unbelievable.
- 0:48Speaker 3: That's a shock of James Worthy.
- 0:50Speaker 2: But the rest of them all Right, before we get
- 0:52Speaker 2: to any more NBA stuff, Mike, he told us right
- 0:54Speaker 2: before we started here that he has a meaningless note
- 0:57Speaker 2: that's going to make me happy, and so let's let's
- 0:59Speaker 2: add that first.
- 1:00Speaker 1: By the way, busted with the boys.
- 1:02Speaker 2: They're going to join us at the end of this
- 1:04Speaker 2: episode here and thanks to Chris Sims for joining us
- 1:07Speaker 2: in our number one.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Go ahead, Mikey. So, the Mets.
- 1:10Speaker 6: Lost their twelfth in a row yesterday.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:13Speaker 6: The last time the Mets lost twelve in a row. Yeap,
- 1:16Speaker 6: Jets won the AFC East.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Oh wow, wow the positive silver lining for you. That
- 1:24Speaker 2: is not meaningless, my friend. I will take that. I
- 1:27Speaker 2: mean it's meaningful.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Okay, Now let's take a second and think, do you
- 1:30Speaker 4: really think it's going to happen again?
- 1:32Speaker 3: No?
- 1:32Speaker 6: No, that was two thousand and two, Chad Pennington.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I mean, the Patriots are about to head aj Brown
- 1:40Speaker 2: and the Bills still have Josh Allen is he? Let's
- 1:42Speaker 2: start in San Antonio because that was the big story
- 1:44Speaker 2: last night. Philly beats Boston. That's also a big story.
- 1:47Speaker 2: They tie that series up at one game apiece. But
- 1:49Speaker 2: the big story is San Antonio losing, and not just losing,
- 1:54Speaker 2: losing Victor Webbin Yama.
- 1:55Speaker 4: So it's interesting, No, it's interesting that you go there
- 1:58Speaker 4: that that's the biggest story. All three games had pretty
- 2:01Speaker 4: big stories just the results themselves. Right, Ron doing what
- 2:05Speaker 4: he did again with KD on the floor, the Victor
- 2:09Speaker 4: Wenbinyama injury, and obviously the Sixers putting a scare into
- 2:13Speaker 4: the Celtics with VJ.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Edgecombe going for thirty and ten.
- 2:16Speaker 4: But in terms of like the unknown without with Victor
- 2:19Speaker 4: wenbin Yama, First of all, I didn't watch it live
- 2:24Speaker 4: when he hit.
- 2:24Speaker 3: His head, Stude, did you watch it live? Did you
- 2:26Speaker 3: see a replay?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Because I saw, I saw it.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I wish I didn't.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I saw a replay of it, and I winced like
- 2:31Speaker 2: it looked really really bad.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Yeah, like when you know how I mean, obviously you've
- 2:36Speaker 4: had a couple of kids.
- 2:37Speaker 3: When your kids have those like, oh, when you watch.
- 2:39Speaker 4: It happen, it's like, oh my god, that must hurt
- 2:42Speaker 4: so bad like that.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I felt that for Vic.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I was surprised that he didn't come back for the
- 2:47Speaker 4: rest of the game. And I'm surprised that they still
- 2:49Speaker 4: don't have an answer for the concussion protocols, because usually
- 2:53Speaker 4: with a guy of this nature, they're just going to
- 2:56Speaker 4: do everything possible to get him back on the floor.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So az a youth thought, when he went out there,
- 3:00Speaker 2: you saw that, you thought he'd come back into the game.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I did.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I did.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Although Mikey makes a good point.
- 3:05Speaker 4: When he falls and hits his head on the ground,
- 3:07Speaker 4: it's from a higher distance, It's like three stories. So
- 3:10Speaker 4: maybe it is an automatic concussion, but it is.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Not Mugsy Bogues falling to the floor. He'd be just fine.
- 3:15Speaker 2: This is Victor webin Yama.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Yes, in large part because now I understand you can
- 3:20Speaker 4: get a concussion from hitting your head, or even not
- 3:22Speaker 4: hitting your head, just from whiplash.
- 3:23Speaker 3: You can get it.
- 3:24Speaker 4: But just when he hit his with the chin, I thought, okay,
- 3:27Speaker 4: you might have to like get adjusted to his jaw
- 3:30Speaker 4: feeling weird. He might, you know, have a headache, but
- 3:33Speaker 4: he'll come back. But if the fact that he didn't
- 3:35Speaker 4: come back shows he was probably out of it decent
- 3:38Speaker 4: to a decent amount where they just didn't want to
- 3:40Speaker 4: risk it. And this is the reason, Stu, why I
- 3:44Speaker 4: can't pick the Spurs to win the championship, because I'm
- 3:48Speaker 4: not saying he's out for the playoffs. I'm not even
- 3:50Speaker 4: saying he's out for this series. He might be back
- 3:52Speaker 4: for Game three, I mean exactly, but if he's out
- 3:54Speaker 4: for a half against the team, and in this case,
- 3:57Speaker 4: all that really mattered was the fourth quarter anybody could
- 4:00Speaker 4: beat them.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Anybody can beat them in one game.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Anybody can beat them over a series of four games,
- 4:05Speaker 4: you know, best of seven, And with Victor in there,
- 4:08Speaker 4: they could still lose a game, right, So obviously if
- 4:11Speaker 4: you lose a game without him, then it's just like, yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 4: he's way too important for that team, and they don't
- 4:15Speaker 4: know quite how to play obviously as good a defense
- 4:18Speaker 4: without him. So I just can't pick him to win
- 4:20Speaker 4: a championship, pick them to win a championship until I
- 4:22Speaker 4: know they have some sort of secondary option that's going
- 4:26Speaker 4: to keep them afloat for longer.
- 4:27Speaker 5: But is he How many teams in the NBA do
- 4:29Speaker 5: you think have a a secondary option where you Lakers
- 4:32Speaker 5: don't feel Lakers?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah, no, a third option, Yes.
- 4:37Speaker 4: There's a bunch of teams that aren't, so I guess
- 4:39Speaker 4: Helio centric, right, But for the Spurs, it's on the
- 4:43Speaker 4: defensive side.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's not on the offensive side.
- 4:44Speaker 4: They can still go out there and score, but defensively,
- 4:47Speaker 4: can you you know, in playoff time, playoff you know,
- 4:51Speaker 4: fashion slow down a team, and obviously yesterday they couldn't,
- 4:54Speaker 4: especially with Scoot Henderson going off, and it wasn't like,
- 4:59Speaker 4: you know, he wasn't too he was pulling up, he
- 5:01Speaker 4: was doing It wasn't against bad defense, but it wasn't
- 5:03Speaker 4: against good enough defense. And yeah, I think I think
- 5:07Speaker 4: more than anything, I still think the Spurgs will be
- 5:09Speaker 4: fine even if he misses a game. I think they'll
- 5:11Speaker 4: come back and win this series. But I just can't
- 5:14Speaker 4: project him staying playoff ready and playoff healthy for this
- 5:19Speaker 4: first long run into a championship.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So if they miss Victor, even for a game, you
- 5:23Speaker 2: still feel pretty good about San Antonio's chances moving forward. Yeah,
- 5:27Speaker 2: in large part because in this series, I'm saying, in
- 5:29Speaker 2: this series, yeah right, I don't feel like Scoot Henderson's
- 5:32Speaker 2: going to repeat that. Well listen, even if it was
- 5:34Speaker 2: healthy last night, Sometimes Scoot Henderson has that kind of
- 5:37Speaker 2: the night. There's nothing you can do about it. I mean,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you know they got the Scoot Henderson game.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 4: And that's how you're going to have to beat the
- 5:43Speaker 4: Spurs on the regular is you're gonna have to be
- 5:45Speaker 4: good from outside because Victor is not going to be everywhere.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Right?
- 5:49Speaker 5: Can I say something potentially controversial when it comes to
- 5:52Speaker 5: Stu Goats.
- 5:52Speaker 1: What if we say no when it comes to me then.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, doors are wide open.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Why are we still having the goat conversation between Michael
- 6:02Speaker 5: Jordan and Lebron James Lebron and Lebron is forty one
- 6:06Speaker 5: years old and he's he's still a top twenty player.
- 6:09Speaker 2: In the league, right, What do you mean why are
- 6:11Speaker 2: we having the goat conversation?
- 6:12Speaker 1: You feel like the goat is Lebron.
- 6:15Speaker 5: I feel like it's unquestioned that Lebron's career has surpassed
- 6:20Speaker 5: Michael Jordan's career in terms of so funny, in terms
- 6:23Speaker 5: of production for and longevity.
- 6:26Speaker 1: How about rings.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, we're never gonna lose that argument.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You just gotta be prepared for well, as long.
- 6:34Speaker 2: As Michael has more than Lebron, I win that argument
- 6:36Speaker 2: every single time. And he's got six and Lebron has four.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And I'm not even certain Lebron had four because he
- 6:41Speaker 2: had to come to Miami to get two.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You know, Taylor, fight it off. You just gonna have
- 6:45Speaker 3: to shield.
- 6:45Speaker 4: You're just gonna have to be ready for that argument
- 6:47Speaker 4: every single time. Fight it off, because if you just
- 6:49Speaker 4: fight that off.
- 6:50Speaker 3: You've got way more ammunition than he does, is he?
- 6:52Speaker 5: So this is the stat that I saw yesterday most
- 6:56Speaker 5: twenty five and five and five playoff games twenty five points,
- 7:01Speaker 5: five rebounds, five assists. The most is eighty Lebron James
- 7:07Speaker 5: after turning thirty. The mess highest is seventy five Lebron
- 7:11Speaker 5: James before turning thirty. And then Michael Jordan has seventy
- 7:15Speaker 5: three in his career.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And how many rings.
- 7:18Speaker 3: It's unbelievable.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Taylor, Anthony and I were having this exact same conversation
- 7:23Speaker 4: not an hour ago, and we're saying he was saying, literally,
- 7:26Speaker 4: I just want Lebron's career to end and it to
- 7:31Speaker 4: be cut and dry.
- 7:32Speaker 3: There is no debate because it's so annoying.
- 7:34Speaker 4: It is absolutely annoying, because what people will do in
- 7:37Speaker 4: this scenario, Taylor, is they'll just go, oh, that's fine,
- 7:40Speaker 4: we're just talking prime versus prime, who was the best player.
- 7:42Speaker 4: They're not gonna say, oh, at forty one he did this,
- 7:44Speaker 4: because at forty one, you know, Lebron is not better
- 7:47Speaker 4: than twenty three year old Jordan. So it's not it's
- 7:50Speaker 4: so ridiculous what he did yesterday, what he did in
- 7:53Speaker 4: game one, not just the fact that he can do
- 7:56Speaker 4: it come playoff time, but the way he did it,
- 7:59Speaker 4: like waltzink through the lane and hitting you with a
- 8:02Speaker 4: reverse dunk and then just getting that you know, back
- 8:04Speaker 4: door smart dug at the end of the game. And
- 8:07Speaker 4: it was just I want the Rockets to win so badly,
- 8:12Speaker 4: and I couldn't help but smile at what Lebron was doing.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I will give you this, He's the greatest number two
- 8:17Speaker 2: of all time. Okay, number two with Dwayne Wade. Right,
- 8:22Speaker 2: I mean he was a number two with Dwayne Wade
- 8:23Speaker 2: and now he's a number two to Luke Canard.
- 8:25Speaker 1: All right, how about that?
- 8:30Speaker 5: Does Lebron? Does Lebron not deserve more credit though? For
- 8:35Speaker 5: the era and where he's doing it, where everything that
- 8:39Speaker 5: Lebron does is going to get scrutinized. Everything that Lebron
- 8:42Speaker 5: does is going to get put on first take and question.
- 8:45Speaker 5: And Lebron James came into the NBA with the expectations.
- 8:49Speaker 5: This guy is supposed to be the greatest thing ever
- 8:52Speaker 5: and he's lived up to expectations at every turn.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah he is.
- 8:57Speaker 4: And he's currently surpassing expectation, which is something he He's
- 9:00Speaker 4: never done. Everything we've seen him do up even you know,
- 9:03Speaker 4: the ridiculous years with the Miami Heat, were just like, Okay,
- 9:06Speaker 4: this is him sort of living up to his powers,
- 9:09Speaker 4: living up to everything that we expected from him.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Now he is absolutely surpassing that.
- 9:14Speaker 4: How many people thought that they wouldn't win a game
- 9:16Speaker 4: against the Rockets even without KD in that first one.
- 9:19Speaker 4: How many people thought that without Luca and Austin Reeves
- 9:22Speaker 4: that this team would be terrible defensively, And it's just like, no,
- 9:26Speaker 4: they're doing great and it's not all because of him. Obviously,
- 9:29Speaker 4: yesterday Marcus Smart was fantastic.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Luke Canard, as we mentioned, is.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Luca Canard Luca And so.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Whenever you're done talking about Lebron, whenever we're done talking
- 9:41Speaker 4: about Lebron, here just I will tell you the real
- 9:43Speaker 4: reason why the Rockets aren't losing this series. But man,
- 9:47Speaker 4: it's so obvious this guy's the best to ever have
- 9:49Speaker 4: done it.
- 9:50Speaker 5: If if for some reason, Lebron James retires at the
- 9:53Speaker 5: end of this season, it's not gonna be because the
- 9:56Speaker 5: league retired him. It's just because he wants to hang
- 9:59Speaker 5: it up, because he he's still playing at a what
- 10:01Speaker 5: would you say, is he a top like twenty five
- 10:03Speaker 5: player in the league level?
- 10:05Speaker 4: I would say it's weird because it's almost better in
- 10:08Speaker 4: the playoffs because in the regular season it's a combination
- 10:11Speaker 4: of the games don't matter as much and he's just
- 10:12Speaker 4: more tired. Right So, in the regular season, defensively bit
- 10:16Speaker 4: of a liability right now, Nope, not so much so.
- 10:19Speaker 4: I would say right now he's playing as one of
- 10:21Speaker 4: the top five six players in the playoffs, which is oh.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Easily, yes, no question about it, right behind Luke kenor Yes, second.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Best player on his team. Maybe he's the best number two,
- 10:33Speaker 3: I'll give it.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Listen, he's better than Scottie Pippen.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Okay, I mean Taylor.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I'm not saying that Lebron James isn't a great basketball player.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Michael Jordan's the greatest basketball player I've ever seen. Okay,
- 10:45Speaker 2: Lebron James is in that top five. If he's probably
- 10:48Speaker 2: the second or third greatest basketball player.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I've ever seen.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I'm not trying to discount what it is he's done
- 10:53Speaker 2: and what it is that he is meant to the game.
- 10:56Speaker 2: But that's the trick, and you're falling for it.
- 10:58Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Play forever an event you're just gonna say, hey, you
- 11:01Speaker 2: know what, Lebron.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Is better than Michael.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Don't fall for it, man, I care about it.
- 11:05Speaker 1: You don't do it.
- 11:06Speaker 5: The second you say Lebron is top five, You're kind
- 11:10Speaker 5: of discrediting.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Credibility right there.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Why I'm allowed to think that Magic Johnson was.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Better than Lebron James.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I can think that five rings for Magic, how many
- 11:19Speaker 2: for Lebron?
- 11:21Speaker 4: No, if that's how we're measuring literally, fight it off,
- 11:24Speaker 4: fighter off.
- 11:26Speaker 7: I prefaced it. I knew this was gonna get Stu
- 11:28Speaker 7: Gotts taught.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well it always does.
- 11:30Speaker 3: So he definitely woke him up.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yes, I mean, listen, Jordan, I've already talked to Chris Simms.
- 11:37Speaker 1: He woke me up money.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I mean, that guy's got too much energy in the morning.
- 11:40Speaker 3: He does.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 11:42Speaker 5: It was kind of like it was kind of like
- 11:43Speaker 5: a reliever in the bullpen. And then all of a sudden,
- 11:46Speaker 5: Steve Gotts heard the name Lebron James, Michael Jordan. He
- 11:49Speaker 5: parked off and he said, let me start warming up
- 11:51Speaker 5: real quick.
- 11:52Speaker 3: All the same Luca Canar jokes came out. Yes, I
- 11:55Speaker 3: didn't realize I was in my wheelhouse.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Hey, here I go.
- 12:00Speaker 7: I do think the.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Bigger story from this series Lebron. Fine, he's the second
- 12:04Speaker 2: greatest player I've ever seen, okayre we happy to have
- 12:06Speaker 2: second right behind Michael Okay, and that's.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Never going to change. I'm telling you that right now.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I do think the bigger story, though, is the Rockets here,
- 12:12Speaker 2: a team that is he loved headed into the season.
- 12:15Speaker 3: And I think the bigger story is Kevin Durant being.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Down two oh to a team that doesn't have Luca
- 12:21Speaker 2: and doesn't have Austin Austin Reeves.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I mean, that's crazy, is he? No one would have.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Thought that before this series started.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 12:28Speaker 4: And it's as much as it's a credit to Lebron,
- 12:31Speaker 4: James and the Lakers, it is such just an obvious
- 12:36Speaker 4: knock on the Rockets and ema Udoka, like Kadi after
- 12:41Speaker 4: an injury, playing forty one minutes and having the nine turnovers.
- 12:45Speaker 4: I don't even blame Katie on that. I blame this offense,
- 12:48Speaker 4: which I've been talking about forever. It's just so it's
- 12:51Speaker 4: Kadi dependent because and I don't mean just on scoring,
- 12:54Speaker 4: I mean getting him the ball. They spend so much
- 12:56Speaker 4: time in the shot clot trying to get him the ball,
- 12:59Speaker 4: and it's just like, man, it's twenty twenty six. Run
- 13:01Speaker 4: something with more motion, get him the ball in different ways,
- 13:04Speaker 4: Like I'm so tired of that.
- 13:06Speaker 3: And it's so easy to defend if you're the.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Lakers, like, yeah, they've seen this a million times and
- 13:11Speaker 4: they can force KD into nine turnovers and good lord,
- 13:15Speaker 4: do the Rockets have an Outpera and Shang Gudin problem?
- 13:18Speaker 3: On defense?
- 13:18Speaker 4: Not only is he just the complete liability, but on offense,
- 13:22Speaker 4: it's another player that you have to slow the game
- 13:24Speaker 4: down for to get the ball.
- 13:26Speaker 3: To in the post.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And it's just like, ugh, I don't know why I'm
- 13:29Speaker 4: surprised it's showing up now, because it obviously is going
- 13:32Speaker 4: to show up in the playoffs if it had been
- 13:33Speaker 4: a case all the regular season. But late in the
- 13:35Speaker 4: seasons too, Reed Shepherd was they figured something out with him.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Finally he had been starting some he'd been great for
- 13:43Speaker 4: that team, and now eleven minutes over off the bench.
- 13:47Speaker 4: It's just like, we've got to find a way to
- 13:49Speaker 4: incorporate Reaed Shepherd more.
- 13:50Speaker 3: And it's just so annoying to watch.
- 13:52Speaker 4: And I feel like KDE is just a probably pretty
- 13:55Speaker 4: ticked off that you know he's in this situation and
- 13:58Speaker 4: his coach can't come up with something better.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Well, he put himself in this situation, so he decided
- 14:02Speaker 2: to go to Houston, and he keeps bouncing around the NBA.
- 14:05Speaker 2: He should still be in Oklahoma City. That's a story.
- 14:08Speaker 2: That's a conversation for a different time, I know. But
- 14:12Speaker 2: who's faulted? Is he rant at twelve shots?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Last night?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Jabori Smith Junior had sixteen shots, Sengoon had twenty shots.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Whose fault is that? Is that KD? Because it's for me.
- 14:24Speaker 2: KD can get his shot whenever he wants to get
- 14:27Speaker 2: his shot, But he only took twelve last night in
- 14:29Speaker 2: a game that he knew they had to win.
- 14:32Speaker 3: So whose fault is that?
- 14:33Speaker 4: It's a combination of Emo Udoka's fault and the fact
- 14:36Speaker 4: that they don't really have a point guard the men.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Thompson's playing point guard obviously, Fred van Vliet has been
- 14:40Speaker 4: gone all year long. The guy's off the bench, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 4: the Aaron Hollidays. They aren't really point guard types, and
- 14:46Speaker 4: so it's a combination of things because they're not getting
- 14:48Speaker 4: him the ball easily in those spots.
- 14:50Speaker 3: But again, I could think.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Of a million different ways to run an offense where
- 14:55Speaker 4: you're not four guys all staring at KD and just
- 14:58Speaker 4: be like to get it to him now, now, no,
- 15:00Speaker 4: not yet now, and then all of a sudden he
- 15:01Speaker 4: gets the ball, there's two guys on him.
- 15:03Speaker 3: There's eight seconds left from the shot clock.
- 15:04Speaker 4: It's just not good offense, and the Lakers are just
- 15:06Speaker 4: benefiting from it.
- 15:07Speaker 5: To Stu Gotts's point on shot selection, there is no
- 15:11Speaker 5: reason Tarry Easton They're goes four or fourteen from the
- 15:14Speaker 5: field and has two more field goal attentions. Thank Kevin Durant.
- 15:17Speaker 4: It's crazy because that's what happens right Like they'll they'll
- 15:20Speaker 4: spend so much of the shoklock trying to get it
- 15:22Speaker 4: to Kevin. They finally do and it's just like, well,
- 15:24Speaker 4: I got two people on me. Next person I toss
- 15:27Speaker 4: it to has to take that shot, and it's Tarry
- 15:29Speaker 4: Easton and the wing or it's Jabari Smith. You know,
- 15:32Speaker 4: off of one dribble and if things are running smoothly
- 15:35Speaker 4: in their offense, those are good shots. But last night
- 15:37Speaker 4: in the game before, it's coming off of all this
- 15:39Speaker 4: chaos and it's rushed shots and it's oh, I have
- 15:41Speaker 4: to take this shot. It's just not good offense, and
- 15:44Speaker 4: e May needs to sort of blame himself for it
- 15:48Speaker 4: or make a change, like go ahead and and bring
- 15:51Speaker 4: down some of those shen gun minutes. Have this team
- 15:54Speaker 4: run a little bit more? And yeah, I mean it's crazy.
- 15:56Speaker 4: You had Clint Capella all season long after Steven Adams
- 15:59Speaker 4: going down. Clint Capella was a regular bench player. Today
- 16:02Speaker 4: place five yesterday plays five minutes and can't do anything
- 16:05Speaker 4: with them.
- 16:05Speaker 3: It's just like, what are we doing? Are we are
- 16:08Speaker 3: we changing things?
- 16:09Speaker 4: Are we just just like hoping that if we lower
- 16:12Speaker 4: the rotation and then all of a sudden this execution
- 16:15Speaker 4: is going to work out more. It's just it's nonsense,
- 16:17Speaker 4: and it's just it's disappointing as somebody who's been watching
- 16:19Speaker 4: this team all season thinking they get better in the
- 16:21Speaker 4: postseason and against this Lakers team, they've just been letting down.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Do we feel like the series is done?
- 16:26Speaker 3: Guys?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Mikey A, I'll start with you. Lakers. Are they are
- 16:29Speaker 1: they moving one?
- 16:30Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 16:30Speaker 7: They're moving on?
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:32Speaker 6: Yeah, started, but.
- 16:35Speaker 2: It hasn't started right for the Lakers, It hasn't started yet. Yes, Taylor,
- 16:39Speaker 2: how do we feel this series done?
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's a rap?
- 16:41Speaker 7: No, I think the Rockets could come back pretty easily.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Really really is he? How do you feel about this?
- 16:47Speaker 4: I think the Rockets have a comeback, and then I
- 16:49Speaker 4: think it comes back to La to tow at the
- 16:51Speaker 4: very least.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Now, the question is who comes back for.
- 16:54Speaker 4: The Lakers, because this is what drives me crazy, stew
- 16:57Speaker 4: What do you think, like if they beat the Rockets
- 17:00Speaker 4: and let's say Luca plays a game just to kind
- 17:02Speaker 4: of get it under get out of his way, and
- 17:04Speaker 4: you know he's going to be back in the second round,
- 17:06Speaker 4: Are the Lakers suddenly contenders because they haven't been in
- 17:08Speaker 4: people's minds all season long.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yes, if they win this series and then get Luca
- 17:12Speaker 2: back and then get Reeves back, yes they become a
- 17:14Speaker 2: goodtender because what's happening here is guys who didn't think
- 17:17Speaker 2: they'd be playing in the playoffs or playing in the playoffs,
- 17:20Speaker 2: and they're gaining confidence. So that team's gonna be better
- 17:22Speaker 2: once they get Luca and once they get Reeves back.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Yes, but this is a bad spot for Luca to
- 17:27Speaker 5: be in if this Lakers team keeps winning, because if
- 17:30Speaker 5: he comes back, it's title or bust. If he comes
- 17:33Speaker 5: back and they start losing, you're gonna have the people
- 17:35Speaker 5: like Stu Gotts swimming around like.
- 17:38Speaker 7: A shark in the water, smelling blood like.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Better without Luca.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, yep, and you'll be right there with me,
- 17:44Speaker 3: my friends.
- 17:45Speaker 4: But somehow Taylor's still not giving le Braun enough credit
- 17:48Speaker 4: to bump him up a little bit, and they go
- 17:49Speaker 4: to rankings. He's better than right now in the playoffs.
- 17:55Speaker 3: He's always planning his next move. He asked it. That's
- 17:58Speaker 3: what the game is all about, a sports radio game.
- 18:03Speaker 1: It's so funny.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Go ahead is so if the Lakers are contenders, if
- 18:06Speaker 4: Luca comes back, right, what.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Do you make I'm gonna tell you I might just
- 18:10Speaker 2: ride it out right now. Without Luca and without Austin Reeds,
- 18:13Speaker 2: they seem to be clicking on all cylinders.
- 18:15Speaker 3: They're getting hot at the right time.
- 18:16Speaker 2: They're playing great basketball, distributing the ball. Lebron, he's turned
- 18:20Speaker 2: the clock back like ten years. I don't know if
- 18:22Speaker 2: I bring Luca and Reeves back at least for this series,
- 18:25Speaker 2: I'll tell you that much.
- 18:26Speaker 6: And then Lebron would be the best player of all time.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Ye man, the best number two though, Yeah, it would be.
- 18:34Speaker 4: I would say, be pretty ugly if it's Lakers Thunder
- 18:37Speaker 4: with no Luca and no Austin, So I think they
- 18:40Speaker 4: need to be back to compete in that second round.
- 18:43Speaker 4: But yeah, I think the Rockets come back two to two,
- 18:46Speaker 4: and it's a brand new series.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I don't think the Rockets come back two to two.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I think the series is a wrap. I think the Lakers.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 2: No, I don't think the Rockets are happy with their coach.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I don't think Kevin Durant is happy with anything. Every Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 2: I mean ever, seriously.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I think they probably gonna get a better home game
- 19:02Speaker 4: from Alpi Sangun. They probably they'll get some better shooting.
- 19:04Speaker 3: More.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Role players do play better at home, So I'll give
- 19:07Speaker 2: you that, right. And these role players, they're role players
- 19:10Speaker 2: playing for the Lakers who benefited from having the first
- 19:12Speaker 2: two games at home. It's going to be interesting to
- 19:14Speaker 2: see if they can Marcus Smart can play and Luke
- 19:16Speaker 2: Kenor can play like that on the road in the playoffs.
- 19:19Speaker 4: You know, and I mean, I know we're not playing
- 19:21Speaker 4: this game, but do me a favor, I may can
- 19:24Speaker 4: you come up with a better double team strategy than
- 19:27Speaker 4: just after about five seconds that Lebron has the ball.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Oh okay, I'll walking up their defender over there. Oh
- 19:32Speaker 4: my god, you're only talking about it. The second best
- 19:35Speaker 4: player of all time can see everything on the floor.
- 19:38Speaker 4: How about you get a little bit more creative with
- 19:40Speaker 4: these double teams, or maybe dope double team and maybe
- 19:43Speaker 4: just live with Lebron shooting fadeaways every once in a
- 19:45Speaker 4: while so you don't have all these easy shots from
- 19:47Speaker 4: other players.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Just quickly back to Portland and San Antonio, Taylor, that
- 19:52Speaker 2: series is it over? You have the Spurs winning, you
- 19:55Speaker 2: have the Blazers winning. I think the Blazers are going
- 19:57Speaker 2: to win that series.
- 19:57Speaker 1: How about that? Yes?
- 19:59Speaker 2: No, but really, Taylor, join me. We say it. We
- 20:04Speaker 2: say it today. The Blazers win and we look like geniuses.
- 20:07Speaker 2: If they lose, no one's gonna remember, I'll say in
- 20:11Speaker 2: the radio later, I'm taking San Antonio. That's how we
- 20:14Speaker 2: cover our bases the game tale.
- 20:16Speaker 5: People are going crazy on social media too, because Fox
- 20:19Speaker 5: Sports Radio put out your clip where you said the
- 20:22Speaker 5: Bengals are going to win the Super Bowl and it
- 20:24Speaker 5: Bengals fans retweeting it, being like, look at this guy.
- 20:27Speaker 7: He's smart, he's he's on our side.
- 20:29Speaker 5: And then it's the other half of the Internet being
- 20:31Speaker 5: like they got like they're replacing Trey Hendrickson with Dexter Lawrence.
- 20:36Speaker 7: This is not going to make them a super Bowl.
- 20:38Speaker 5: But the Bengals fans are just seeing as somebody in
- 20:40Speaker 5: the national media saying we're gonna win the Super Bowl.
- 20:42Speaker 7: So they love it.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Everyone else's dummies. Let's listen to twenty shares in Cincinnati.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Let's go do some live shows from there. I'm domn
- 20:49Speaker 2: I mean, he wrote it down, by the ways what
- 20:55Speaker 2: you wrote it to down, but that I took Portland
- 20:57Speaker 2: and I said.
- 20:59Speaker 3: So you can't skate if they lose.
- 21:01Speaker 2: All right, Philly and Boston, because that was the big
- 21:03Speaker 2: game of the night last night, Philly fans chanted, we
- 21:06Speaker 2: want Boston, we want Boston. We made fun of Boston
- 21:09Speaker 2: Philly and their fans because Boston blew them out in Game.
- 21:12Speaker 4: One, and enchanted we want Boston during Game one at home,
- 21:17Speaker 4: just to stick at to Philly. Y.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Yes, let's make Taylor write it down by the way.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yesterday on radio he wrote down on a fake piece
- 21:25Speaker 2: of paper with a fake pen, all my.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Things, but look how he writes with a fake penn.
- 21:29Speaker 3: He writes like a toddler, just a holding that's.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Like a crayon or something like a chisel.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Right better, it's like a caveman.
- 21:39Speaker 7: Putting it in stone.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Oh, that's official, that's what it means. So is he.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I was shocked.
- 21:46Speaker 2: That was a shocking result to see the Sixers Pete
- 21:50Speaker 2: Boston one eleven to ninety.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Seven last night.
- 21:53Speaker 2: That series Todd one game a piece, go home back
- 21:55Speaker 2: to Philly. I'm certain that crowd is gonna be nice
- 21:57Speaker 2: to the Celtics.
- 22:01Speaker 4: What a performance from the rookie vj Edgecob so good
- 22:06Speaker 4: in the I don't know if you knew this dude,
- 22:08Speaker 4: but in the opening game of the season against the
- 22:10Speaker 4: Celtics had thirty four. Yeah, and that's when he puts
- 22:12Speaker 4: sort of everybody recognize this kid's going to be special.
- 22:16Speaker 3: And I always thought he was. He looked a little thin.
- 22:18Speaker 4: For his level of athleticism, almost like John Morant, and
- 22:22Speaker 4: I was like, I don't know if he's going to
- 22:23Speaker 4: hold up, but man, he is sturdy even despite his
- 22:27Speaker 4: his frame.
- 22:28Speaker 3: And that dude is so explosive, so explosive.
- 22:31Speaker 4: He's like, you know, like Dwayne Wade and John Morant
- 22:35Speaker 4: mix together, you know, in terms of the way he
- 22:37Speaker 4: gets off the floor and just kind of stays up
- 22:39Speaker 4: for a little bit. But this is why I'm curious
- 22:43Speaker 4: what you think if, first of all, we've seen Boston
- 22:47Speaker 4: happen do this in the playoffs, like they'll lose a
- 22:50Speaker 4: home game where you're just like, what, yeah, So I
- 22:54Speaker 4: don't think they're panicking here. But if you're the Sixers
- 22:57Speaker 4: and there's really no word that I've seen yet from
- 23:00Speaker 4: Joel Embiid and whether he's going to be back this
- 23:02Speaker 4: series from the emergency appendectomy. But if you're the Sixers
- 23:05Speaker 4: and you can win in Boston without Joel Embiid, what
- 23:07Speaker 4: are you thinking about your chances going forward? Because again
- 23:10Speaker 4: I'm not saying this is a done deal and all
- 23:11Speaker 4: of a sudden they're gonna beat Boston. But if they
- 23:14Speaker 4: can beat Boston, like, where's the ceiling on these Sixers.
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's interesting.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I don't know what the ceiling is on the seventy
- 23:22Speaker 2: six Ers.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I'm still not certain.
- 23:23Speaker 2: In fact, I would say they're not going to get
- 23:25Speaker 2: past the Boston Celtics. From the Celtics perspective, it's just
- 23:29Speaker 2: for me. Last night they didn't like is he The
- 23:32Speaker 2: Celtics in the past had a third guy, whether it
- 23:35Speaker 2: be Drew Holliday, whether it was Al Horford, they always
- 23:39Speaker 2: had another guy outside of Tatum and outside of Jalen Brown.
- 23:43Speaker 2: That guy now was Derek White, and Derek White was
- 23:45Speaker 2: awful last night, and so I feel like if that
- 23:48Speaker 2: third guy stepped up, any third guy stepped up, they
- 23:51Speaker 2: probably win that game last night. They just need a
- 23:53Speaker 2: third guy every single game. If they don't have that,
- 23:56Speaker 2: they're gonna be in trouble.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Boston.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah, no, that's a great call. And Derek White is
- 23:59Speaker 3: normally guy.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Derek white Man as a third guy is just when
- 24:03Speaker 4: he is on, feels like one of the best players
- 24:05Speaker 4: in the league. And then you're right, you look down
- 24:07Speaker 4: the bench and it's just like, what did Peyton Pritchard
- 24:09Speaker 4: gibbos Oh nothing, nothing hur from him.
- 24:12Speaker 7: You know.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Baylor Shyerman, the guy who dropped the triple wit with
- 24:15Speaker 4: a triple double or thirty seven, he was had a
- 24:17Speaker 4: huge game the last game of the season, didn't give
- 24:19Speaker 4: you anything in his eleven minutes. And so I'm pretty
- 24:22Speaker 4: sure if you if you ask all the Boston people,
- 24:25Speaker 4: they're regretting maybe the Nikola Vucevich trade because he doesn't
- 24:28Speaker 4: really give him much of anything. If he's not hitting
- 24:30Speaker 4: shots off the bench, and so yeah, they do need
- 24:33Speaker 4: that third guy. But the problem is is it's got
- 24:36Speaker 4: to be Derek White. Like Sam Houser will have a
- 24:37Speaker 4: game every once in a while, but you can't rely
- 24:39Speaker 4: on him. It's got to be Derek White, and he
- 24:40Speaker 4: had a bad one. So yeah, if you don't think
- 24:42Speaker 4: that's gonna happen.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Again, then yeah, I'm with you. Celtics probably still take
- 24:45Speaker 3: this series.
- 24:46Speaker 2: So from the sixer standpoint, you can't rely on Joelle
- 24:48Speaker 2: Embiid and him coming back. And if he does come back,
- 24:51Speaker 2: how long was he going to be back? But what
- 24:53Speaker 2: is the like, what are they saying about Embiid at
- 24:55Speaker 2: his timeline in terms of coming back?
- 24:57Speaker 4: Everything I've read, it's just there is none and there
- 25:00Speaker 4: is no real update.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I feel like normally.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Uh, you know, I've read stuff about new phase of
- 25:07Speaker 4: recovery process and then they're just updating you the sing up.
- 25:10Speaker 4: But he will miss game two, so it feels like
- 25:13Speaker 4: it's a game to game type of situation.
- 25:14Speaker 3: But it doesn't feel like game three is a probability stude.
- 25:17Speaker 5: These games actually made me feel better about the k
- 25:20Speaker 5: next chances going forward in this series with Atlanta because
- 25:23Speaker 5: you're watching game two. Philadelphia beat the Celtics, Portland beat
- 25:28Speaker 5: the Spurs, the Knicks beat the Knicks.
- 25:35Speaker 1: This in game two? Did the Knicks beat the Knicks?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Put it on the pole please, and also put this
- 25:41Speaker 2: on the pole.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Is Lebron the greatest number two of all time? Is here?
- 25:49Speaker 2: You're not concerned about the Celtics, right? We can't go
- 25:52Speaker 2: with one game. I guess we can because that's sports
- 25:54Speaker 2: radio from the Celtics being the team to beat in
- 25:57Speaker 2: the East, right because Detroit's down one to the Magic
- 26:00Speaker 2: don't play again tonight. We can't go in one night
- 26:02Speaker 2: from the Celtics being the team to be to the
- 26:04Speaker 2: Celtics are done right right?
- 26:06Speaker 4: By the way, was it Chris Whittingham who would probably
- 26:09Speaker 4: argue that Giannis is the greatest number two because Chris
- 26:11Speaker 4: Middleton was his number one with the.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Boxes at him. Yes? Yes, So it's a great take,
- 26:18Speaker 1: It really is.
- 26:18Speaker 3: I mean, this is the funny part about Boston.
- 26:21Speaker 4: It's just like when you try to break down their strengths,
- 26:26Speaker 4: it's like, yeah, they've got Jayalen Brown Jason Tatum as
- 26:29Speaker 4: a wing tandem and it's hard to defend.
- 26:30Speaker 3: But the reason they're so good is it's basically the math.
- 26:35Speaker 4: It's they shoot a bunch of threes at a good rate,
- 26:37Speaker 4: they play good defense, and it's just the amount of
- 26:42Speaker 4: shots they get off. Problem is is it's still make
- 26:45Speaker 4: or miss, and it's still teams playing harder in the playoffs.
- 26:48Speaker 4: So if you run that same stuff, you're probably gonna
- 26:50Speaker 4: get a lot more challenged shots than you did in
- 26:52Speaker 4: the regular season. So there is a level of play
- 26:56Speaker 4: for Boston to sort of fall down to, and then
- 26:59Speaker 4: that's where they need, you know, Jalen Brown and Jason
- 27:01Speaker 4: Tatum to just elevate them if they're not hitting those threes.
- 27:04Speaker 4: And last night those two were good, not great hot,
- 27:08Speaker 4: you know, decent scoring numbers for Jalen Brown, but not efficient,
- 27:10Speaker 4: similar for Jason Tatum. So I think that's the difference
- 27:13Speaker 4: with these Celtics is they can be overwhelming if they're
- 27:16Speaker 4: hitting threes. But you're not talking about you know, Porzingis
- 27:19Speaker 4: and Drew Holliday out there. You're talking about Sam Houser
- 27:22Speaker 4: and Peyton Pritchard. So if those guys aren't hitting threes,
- 27:25Speaker 4: they're not going to round off their games by doing
- 27:27Speaker 4: a whole lot else.
- 27:27Speaker 2: For you The NBA has to be loving this right
- 27:30Speaker 2: competitive series opening round. Then they have all the markets
- 27:32Speaker 2: kind of covered. LA's covered New York, covered, Boston's covered Philadelphia.
- 27:37Speaker 1: They have the major markets.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Is like, this is going to turn out to be
- 27:40Speaker 2: a good postseason for the NBA as long as Oklahoma
- 27:42Speaker 2: City doesn't advance that far.
- 27:43Speaker 4: So far, it's been a bit of a roller coaster,
- 27:45Speaker 4: Like the playing games are great. The first gay first
- 27:48Speaker 4: day of playoff games were not, but then it's gotten
- 27:52Speaker 4: better since then.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Last couple of games have been great.
- 27:53Speaker 4: And listen, as long as that number two guy, Lebron
- 27:57Speaker 4: James is playing and doing great things, like they're gonna
- 28:02Speaker 4: get eyes on the playoffs set you didn't even expect
- 28:04Speaker 4: to have. So yeah, I would say yesterday is a
- 28:07Speaker 4: good day for the NBA. And it's other than that
- 28:10Speaker 4: first weekend of games, it's been pretty good.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Taylor put it on the poll.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Should Luke Conord announce that his new name is Luca Canord?
- 28:21Speaker 4: Mikey's saying, yes, you should start having a more playful
- 28:25Speaker 4: relationship with Austin Reeves than Luca does.
- 28:29Speaker 3: And then he's just taken over a single white female situation.
- 28:34Speaker 2: How do you feel Luca would feel about that. If
- 28:35Speaker 2: Luca Arca out and said.
- 28:36Speaker 4: That, Wow, how many people listening recognize the single white
- 28:42Speaker 4: female reference that I made?
- 28:43Speaker 3: How old is that movie?
- 28:45Speaker 1: Nineteen eighty seven? I think Mikey recognized it. Yes, it
- 28:50Speaker 1: was a great movie, very close.
- 28:52Speaker 9: It was.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Bridget Fonda, Stephen Webber. Wow, look at you the guy
- 29:00Speaker 3: from Wings. Yeah. Wow, that's exactly where I remember him
- 29:04Speaker 3: from too. I love that show, so do I.
- 29:09Speaker 2: There are two animals who we're going to join us Snacks,
- 29:11Speaker 2: Taylor l One Low and I say that right.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Wow, I was wrong too. I've been saying it lowin
- 29:17Speaker 3: this whole life.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I think it's Lewis. I'm not sure, but he's an animal,
- 29:21Speaker 1: all right.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Taylor's Taylor on this one.
- 29:24Speaker 2: They have a podcast also Will Compton, called Busting.
- 29:27Speaker 1: With the Boys. I love it.
- 29:28Speaker 2: They're going to be at the draft courtesy of bud Light,
- 29:30Speaker 2: because of course they are.
- 29:32Speaker 1: They'll join us Snacks.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I love these guys. I love their show, I love
- 29:40Speaker 2: their story. Busting with the Boys. They are headed to
- 29:43Speaker 2: Pittsburgh for the draft courtesy of bud Light. Because of course,
- 29:48Speaker 2: it's courtesy of bud Light. How'd you guys like how'd
- 29:51Speaker 2: you wrangle this deal up? You're going to the draft,
- 29:53Speaker 2: you're taking the bus. It's courtesy of bud Light. You
- 29:56Speaker 2: guys are living the fucking life. I gotta tell you, man.
- 30:00Speaker 10: Dude, we appreciate it. Thank you for that introduction.
- 30:02Speaker 9: That was an incredible introduction. And you're right. So we
- 30:04Speaker 9: are living the dream. One day at a time. That's
- 30:05Speaker 9: what we do.
- 30:06Speaker 10: One day at a time, one beard time, bud Light,
- 30:09Speaker 10: butt light.
- 30:12Speaker 2: I'll start with Taylor. How many bud lights can you
- 30:15Speaker 2: consume in a single day?
- 30:19Speaker 11: Well, so, I've been a fan of bud Light. I'm
- 30:21Speaker 11: thirty four years old. I've so I've been in a
- 30:24Speaker 11: consumer for thirteen years now, and I will say I
- 30:28Speaker 11: do love my bud light. But I love my bud
- 30:30Speaker 11: light responsibly.
- 30:31Speaker 9: Boys.
- 30:31Speaker 11: You know, I like to sit there. I like to
- 30:33Speaker 11: have a couple at dinner enjoy it. Someone walks, it
- 30:35Speaker 11: goes but like that, yeah, but like that, and then
- 30:38Speaker 11: we all just kind of enjoy it all wink and
- 30:40Speaker 11: a nudge and a handshake as you can handshake it
- 30:41Speaker 11: only but light people have and we go about our business.
- 30:44Speaker 11: So for me, it's all about having a taste. But
- 30:47Speaker 11: let's not get too much.
- 30:48Speaker 9: Right, we're on the gas, but we're also on the
- 30:49Speaker 9: breaks at the same time.
- 30:50Speaker 10: Yeah, clean crisp with four simple ingredients. That's bud light.
- 30:53Speaker 9: That is bud Light.
- 30:55Speaker 2: You did a great job of not answering my question.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Will let me try with you. How many bud lights
- 31:00Speaker 2: have you drank? It a single sitting.
- 31:03Speaker 8: People are going to get to find out this weekend
- 31:05Speaker 8: when you get when we get to have one bud
- 31:08Speaker 8: light per day, when your team is on the.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Clock, right, okay, good, go ahead, town, you'll see you
- 31:15Speaker 2: right now.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Well, it's it's ironic that bud Light is sending you
- 31:21Speaker 5: to the NFL draft since you went undrafted. What's your
- 31:25Speaker 5: message to all the players this weekend that won't hear
- 31:29Speaker 5: their name called?
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yep, good question.
- 31:31Speaker 10: Oh look, you.
- 31:32Speaker 8: Can sulk as long as you want, dude, over one
- 31:34Speaker 8: ice cold bud light. But at the end of the day,
- 31:36Speaker 8: the sun is going to ride us tomorrow and nobody
- 31:38Speaker 8: gives a damn about what your situation is. It's not
- 31:41Speaker 8: about how you got in the room. It's just the
- 31:42Speaker 8: fact that you did.
- 31:43Speaker 10: Get in the room. And what are you going to
- 31:45Speaker 10: do now with that opportunity?
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yes, Taylor, how did you guys become such good friends.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I'm interested in your backstory. How did you guys become
- 31:52Speaker 2: such close friends.
- 31:54Speaker 11: Yeah, so in twenty eighteen, Will Compton came from the
- 31:56Speaker 11: team fully known as the Washington Redskins to the Tennessee
- 32:00Speaker 11: There was a tweet and article. So then that took
- 32:01Speaker 11: place that said Taylor One and Will Compton are gonna
- 32:04Speaker 11: be best friends based on Taylor One at the podium
- 32:06Speaker 11: and Will Compton on the bird. So I thought my
- 32:09Speaker 11: marriage was being arranged. I felt incredible about it. And
- 32:11Speaker 11: once you know it, after a couple of ice cold
- 32:13Speaker 11: bud lights with four simple ingredients, this just started to
- 32:16Speaker 11: nurture itself over.
- 32:17Speaker 9: And over again.
- 32:18Speaker 11: Think about planning a seed guarded, put the dirt over
- 32:20Speaker 11: and a little bit of bud light.
- 32:21Speaker 9: On top, and it's just really turning into something absolutely beautiful.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Oh well, I'll go ahead.
- 32:25Speaker 10: Well, I was in a hotel.
- 32:26Speaker 8: During free agency, and since Taylor knew that I had
- 32:30Speaker 8: nowhere to go, nowhere else to be every day no
- 32:33Speaker 8: matter what, without fail, it is, Hey, you're coming over
- 32:35Speaker 8: the house.
- 32:35Speaker 10: You're coming over the house.
- 32:36Speaker 8: Oh, bud buddy, I got a lot going on, Like
- 32:39Speaker 8: you'll be here in fifteen minutes, he'd be like, spoiler alert,
- 32:41Speaker 8: I'm outside already getting the truck.
- 32:42Speaker 10: You're coming to the house.
- 32:44Speaker 3: So whose idea was it to start a show?
- 32:49Speaker 11: You got to give it to Willie. I let it
- 32:51Speaker 11: will on the starting the show idea.
- 32:53Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 32:54Speaker 8: So when I was in Washington, it's probably around twenty fifteen,
- 32:58Speaker 8: I had written in my journal, big, big believer in
- 33:00Speaker 8: writing stuff down, love writing things down.
- 33:02Speaker 10: But I had always wanted to do a.
- 33:05Speaker 8: Podcast where we're always wearing a helmet, you're always you're
- 33:08Speaker 8: always about the name on the front of your jersey
- 33:10Speaker 8: because you never want to be a distraction. But I
- 33:12Speaker 8: thought it would be really cool if fans and audience,
- 33:15Speaker 8: the audience got to look inside the conversations that take place,
- 33:18Speaker 8: like in a cold tub or in a song, or
- 33:20Speaker 8: at the cafeteria or inside the locker room. Because I
- 33:23Speaker 8: was a big podcast junkie at the time, so I
- 33:25Speaker 8: remember writing writing a goal down is be the first
- 33:30Speaker 8: player to have an existing podcast while I'm still playing
- 33:33Speaker 8: and to have one million downloads.
- 33:36Speaker 10: Fast forward to Tennessee.
- 33:37Speaker 8: Whenever I was having my year with Tennessee as a
- 33:39Speaker 8: special teams guy in a backup, thinking like.
- 33:41Speaker 10: I'm on the back end of my career.
- 33:43Speaker 8: Whatever I want to do, I need to dive into
- 33:44Speaker 8: it now, Like while I'm still fresh, while jokes are
- 33:47Speaker 8: still funny, while I'm better looking with these brutal teeth
- 33:49Speaker 8: that I have in my mouth, while I can share
- 33:51Speaker 8: your hands and sharing that, sharing all that kind of
- 33:54Speaker 8: stuff with Taylor.
- 33:55Speaker 10: Taylor was like, bro, I will do a podcast with you.
- 33:58Speaker 8: It alleviated a lot of whatever anxieties and pressures I
- 34:01Speaker 8: was feeling in my mind, and we kind of hit
- 34:03Speaker 8: it off and started to run with the den working
- 34:05Speaker 8: title Orky Came Busting with the Boys, and we just
- 34:09Speaker 8: we just started put our head down.
- 34:11Speaker 10: And putting the concept together.
- 34:12Speaker 8: And then whenever we were both in town and Nashville,
- 34:14Speaker 8: because I was a free agent at the time Taylor
- 34:16Speaker 8: was with Tennessee. Anytime that yet free time, we would
- 34:19Speaker 8: backlog interviews to kind of roll it out for the
- 34:22Speaker 8: audience weekly.
- 34:23Speaker 11: Just a kind of piggyback off that a little bit.
- 34:25Speaker 11: We would write notes down or goals that we would
- 34:27Speaker 11: have will set the other million downloads. One of the
- 34:29Speaker 11: big goals we had was how do we partner with
- 34:32Speaker 11: bud Light look into the future to the Pittsburgh rat
- 34:35Speaker 11: of course Light Hall where there's three circle and when
- 34:39Speaker 11: your team is now drafting the drafts on bud Light
- 34:42Speaker 11: and why don't you know it?
- 34:44Speaker 9: Full circle moment.
- 34:44Speaker 11: We get to sit here right now and just you
- 34:46Speaker 11: guys are looking at two individuals that achieved all their goals.
- 34:48Speaker 10: Yeah, dude, on a full circle moments, sincerely.
- 34:51Speaker 8: Is obviously people know about the Dale Earnhardt Junior Budweiser
- 34:55Speaker 8: bus that we had. It is sick that we were
- 34:58Speaker 8: now partner with Dnheuser, Bush and Bud Light having that
- 35:00Speaker 8: full circle moment when we found this beautiful bus sitting
- 35:03Speaker 8: in a gravel parking lot behind a production studio.
- 35:07Speaker 10: Wow.
- 35:07Speaker 6: So if I'm hearing you guys right, you walk so
- 35:09Speaker 6: that the Kelseys could run. That's what I'm here.
- 35:13Speaker 9: I think if you got Travis and On right now,
- 35:17Speaker 9: they would say the.
- 35:17Speaker 11: Exact same thing, Like I believe it. Yeah, I love
- 35:20Speaker 11: them friends of the show, We love them to death.
- 35:23Speaker 8: But yeah, yeah, absolutely, that's why we still need to
- 35:25Speaker 8: collect the ten percent fee from whatever they're making. Like once, yeah,
- 35:28Speaker 8: obviously the swift thing happened and shot them right away, Like, guys,
- 35:32Speaker 8: we should be getting a fee an acquisition.
- 35:34Speaker 3: At least an invite royalties royalties you should for life?
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yes, and an invite right?
- 35:39Speaker 3: Yes?
- 35:40Speaker 5: Who would you guys say is eat your white whales
- 35:43Speaker 5: for busting with the boys. Who you guys want to
- 35:45Speaker 5: come on the bus?
- 35:46Speaker 9: I got my off. It's right here. It's fun.
- 35:49Speaker 11: It's not even really I have to meet him in
- 35:51Speaker 11: South Indiana direction and group chat with him. At one
- 35:53Speaker 11: point I have his number still is it the same number?
- 35:56Speaker 9: I don't know because I.
- 35:56Speaker 7: Haven't texted him in two and a half years.
- 35:58Speaker 9: But if I could have anybody on it would be
- 36:01Speaker 9: evinced fine and I want to be close.
- 36:02Speaker 8: Well, great one like dude, It's tough. It's more of
- 36:06Speaker 8: like a running list. I know Adam Sadler's been on.
- 36:08Speaker 9: It, yep, Johnny Knoxville.
- 36:11Speaker 10: Denzel Washington, trappis Pastrana yep.
- 36:14Speaker 9: I do love Travis tom Brady is another one.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yes, right.
- 36:19Speaker 2: I think the better question is who hasn't been on Jesus?
- 36:21Speaker 9: I mean yeah, yeah, and we got sort of Rollerdeck's
- 36:25Speaker 9: going on right now.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Boy, it's nice.
- 36:28Speaker 1: You guys are awesome, you really are.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I feel like I should have just let you guys
- 36:31Speaker 2: do your show instead of interviewing you, Taylor, do you
- 36:35Speaker 2: remember what it was like for you kind of you know,
- 36:37Speaker 2: a couple of days before the draft, kind of the feelings,
- 36:39Speaker 2: the emotions, what you were thinking, what you were doing.
- 36:42Speaker 3: What was it like for you guys.
- 36:44Speaker 11: Yeah, the so back then in twenty fourteen, back in
- 36:47Speaker 11: my day, it was at a Radio City music hall
- 36:49Speaker 11: in New York. That's kind of where it was every
- 36:50Speaker 11: single year. This is the last year that it was
- 36:53Speaker 11: going to be specifically at that location.
- 36:54Speaker 9: It's an awesome week man.
- 36:56Speaker 11: You you get to meet a bunch of the draftees,
- 36:58Speaker 11: a bunch of guys who I think obviously there's only
- 37:00Speaker 11: thirty two picks in the first round, but there's like
- 37:02Speaker 11: forty or fifty guys there. You go out, you do
- 37:05Speaker 11: some NFL sixty stuff, You play with the kids, you
- 37:08Speaker 11: go to you see people you know, we will take
- 37:11Speaker 11: trips to the hospital and visit people with a lot
- 37:13Speaker 11: of charitable work takes place. Kind of keeps your mind
- 37:15Speaker 11: off of like not only like my dreams are being realized,
- 37:19Speaker 11: but you're also kind of the anxiety of hey, where
- 37:23Speaker 11: am I gonna go? What's the new city gonna look like?
- 37:25Speaker 11: You know, can I make friends. How is gonna work?
- 37:27Speaker 9: You're kind of like getting in this whole new world.
- 37:29Speaker 9: So do they have bud light? Spoiler alert they did
- 37:33Speaker 9: have bud light.
- 37:34Speaker 11: So really, man, at the end of the day, it
- 37:36Speaker 11: was great. You sit down, you crack a bud light
- 37:38Speaker 11: with your old man. You just start telling old stories.
- 37:41Speaker 11: Remember when Pop Warner, this, that and the other, and
- 37:43Speaker 11: all the things that led us up to this moment.
- 37:45Speaker 10: It is.
- 37:46Speaker 9: It's an incredible experience.
- 37:47Speaker 11: We'll talked about guys getting undrafted, but the same thing
- 37:50Speaker 11: goes for guys that are drafted the first round. Like
- 37:52Speaker 11: you've achieved a gold but this new journey is just starting.
- 37:56Speaker 11: It's you got your foot in the door. You have
- 37:58Speaker 11: a little more leash than most guys do. But now
- 38:00Speaker 11: it's like killer be killed. Are you going to be
- 38:02Speaker 11: able to produce in this brand new ocean that you've
- 38:05Speaker 11: now been dropped into?
- 38:06Speaker 3: Uh?
- 38:06Speaker 2: Well, final question. We'll get you out of here, and
- 38:08Speaker 2: we do appreciate the time. You have an additional podcast
- 38:12Speaker 2: for the dads where you talk about fatherhood. You have
- 38:15Speaker 2: two daughters. I have two daughters. What's more difficult playing
- 38:18Speaker 2: in the NFL or raising two daughters?
- 38:21Speaker 8: Oh?
- 38:21Speaker 10: You know? What it is.
- 38:22Speaker 8: It's raising those terrorists that you appreciate with you during bedtime,
- 38:26Speaker 8: during dinner time.
- 38:28Speaker 10: Everything in between.
- 38:29Speaker 8: You're constantly challenged mentally and if you're gonna lose your
- 38:33Speaker 8: shit or if you're gonna stay.
- 38:34Speaker 10: Poisoned and focused in the show. Show. But yeah, dude,
- 38:38Speaker 10: love doing the show.
- 38:40Speaker 8: Embracing fatherhood, embracing the stuck that goes into it, talking
- 38:42Speaker 8: about the vulnerabilities that take place, and uh more of
- 38:46Speaker 8: standing it up is I just love creating things that
- 38:48Speaker 8: I consume. I consume all the dad content in the
- 38:50Speaker 8: world on social media, on YouTube, all of that stuff.
- 38:54Speaker 8: So creating that show standing up, having a co host
- 38:56Speaker 8: like Sherman Young, we have so much fun doing for
- 38:59Speaker 8: the So if you're interested in joining the pop A
- 39:01Speaker 8: Team six community, just go to the four the channel
- 39:04Speaker 8: on YouTube.
- 39:05Speaker 2: All right, well done, boys, I need more time with
- 39:06Speaker 2: you next time, if that's possible. I'd like to do
- 39:08Speaker 2: this again, but one more time. Tell everyone what you're
- 39:11Speaker 2: doing with bud life for the NFL Draft this weekend.
- 39:14Speaker 10: Do you want to go ahead?
- 39:15Speaker 9: You just nig in here.
- 39:16Speaker 8: I love for you to give that X out, you know,
- 39:18Speaker 8: But I was more doing it for the moment of
- 39:20Speaker 8: do you want to.
- 39:21Speaker 11: Oh, okay, bug Light NFL Draft. Yeah, well, so let's
- 39:24Speaker 11: paint the picture real quick. The bud Light beer hall, Right,
- 39:28Speaker 11: there's gonna be thirty two cakes, each with different logos
- 39:31Speaker 11: of the thirty two teams that will be drafting throughout
- 39:33Speaker 11: the weekend. When your team is drafting, the drafts on
- 39:37Speaker 11: bud Light, and you know, think of me and Will
- 39:39Speaker 11: as a couple of bud buddies. Right we're sitting at
- 39:41Speaker 11: the bar, the five of us were hanging out. One
- 39:43Speaker 11: individual's gonna raise their hand and say the magic question
- 39:46Speaker 11: and a beer, nber need a bud Light. That guy
- 39:49Speaker 11: is the best type of guy. And we're gonna be
- 39:51Speaker 11: those guys for the fans to come in there and
- 39:53Speaker 11: get their singular beer for them because.
- 39:56Speaker 9: We're responsibly one a day. So that's kind of what
- 39:58Speaker 9: we're gonna be up to with bud Light.
- 39:59Speaker 8: And the kick too, is when your team is on
- 40:01Speaker 8: the clock, that means your draft is on the clock.
- 40:03Speaker 8: So that's when you get a beer from the boys,
- 40:05Speaker 8: the beer from bud Light. Rightful, Oh beautiful cakewall right
- 40:08Speaker 8: outside of the beer hole.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I love it, Yes, I love it. I love you Guys,
