- 0:00Leviticus chapter 27. Let us pray.
- 0:03We thank you, Father, for today. Lord, you are holy and righteous
- 0:07and pure. We thank you for all the many
- 0:09things that you've already done. Thank you for pouring out
- 0:12blessings upon blessings upon blessings upon us today.
- 0:17Thank you, Lord, for the breath and our lungs.
- 0:19Thank you God, for the ability to see and to hear, to feel,
- 0:23Lord, to taste, touch. God, you are the most amazing.
- 0:29Lord, we fix our eyes upon you, the Maker of heaven and earth.
- 0:33You are where our help comes from.
- 0:36So Lord, help us today. Help us to love our neighbor as
- 0:39ourself. Help us to understand these
- 0:41words. Lord, help us to love and love
- 0:44well. Lord, help us to take the whole
- 0:47word to the whole world, to the ends of the earth, every
- 0:50continent, every people group. Lord, we submit, we surrender.
- 0:56God, we admit Father, that you are holy and worthy and lovely.
- 1:07Jesus name I pray, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 1:13And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, verse 2, Speak unto the
- 1:17children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a
- 1:21singular vow, the person shall be for the Lord, by thy
- 1:24estimation. So we're going to get into this
- 1:27discourse about how God planned on taking care of the Levitical
- 1:32priests during this time. And he knew that all of the
- 1:36tribes would have farmland and be able to sustain themselves.
- 1:41But the Levitical priests, they were dependent upon the monetary
- 1:48income of the vows that were being made.
- 1:51And people would come to the priests and ask the priests to
- 1:55pray to God for them for a good judgement or for something in
- 2:00their favor. And when God did those things,
- 2:04they were expected to come back and make good on their vow.
- 2:11Verse 3 And I estimation shall be of the male of 20 years old
- 2:16even unto 60 years old even I estimation shall be 50 shekels
- 2:21of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary.
- 2:24So someone between the ages of 20 and 60 could generate a lot
- 2:29more wealth than someone who was younger or older than that time
- 2:35for. And if it be a female, then the
- 2:37estimation shall be 30 shekels 5 And if it be from five years old
- 2:42even unto 20 years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male
- 2:4520 shekels and for the female 20 or 10 shekels.
- 2:50So you can see here that that for people that were younger or
- 2:55for even the females in this Agricultural Society, they would
- 3:00have not been able to do the amount of work necessary to
- 3:06generate the amount of money that God told them to bring into
- 3:12the sanctuary. What an amazing God that we
- 3:15have. He sees our weaknesses.
- 3:18He sees our feebleness. He sees our inability to even
- 3:23feed ourselves. We are dependent upon Him and
- 3:26God gives life and breath and we just get out of our own
- 3:29understanding. We say yes and Amen to all of
- 3:32these words. Six.
- 3:34And if it be from a month old, even under five years old, then
- 3:38thy estimation shall be of the male 5 shekels of silver.
- 3:41And for the female thy estimation shall be 3 shekels of
- 3:45silver. 7 even if it be from 60 years old and above.
- 3:48If it be a male, then thy estimation shall be 15 shekels,
- 3:52and for the female 10 shekels. God made them both man and
- 3:57woman, and that is what we need to understand.
- 4:01This whole blending of genders and trying to be gender neutral,
- 4:06it is disgusting. It is deplorable.
- 4:08Friends, we need to celebrate our differences.
- 4:13We need to understand, friends, that God made us perfect.
- 4:16He knows what He's doing and we don't need to try to be
- 4:22something that we're not. That is the reality and that is
- 4:27unapologetic, friends, that God knows what He's doing and He put
- 4:33us on this earth and He expects for us to honor Him in all of
- 4:39the words, the revealed will that He has given to us.
- 4:42Even here in Leviticus chapter 27, we don't get to omit hard
- 4:47passages. We don't get to gloss over and
- 4:50just go to the books that we like.
- 4:52We need the full context, friends, from Genesis all the
- 4:55way to Revelation, and I'm glad for every single person who has
- 4:59taken this faith journey with me to learn all of the syllables,
- 5:03all of the jots, all of the titles, every single thing.
- 5:07And here we are at the end of Leviticus, and I pray that you
- 5:10have been blessed eternally by the teachings of Leviticus all
- 5:15the way through. We have had a wonderful journey
- 5:19through one of the hardest books in the entire Bible, and I am so
- 5:24honored to stand here today and to speak to you these eternal
- 5:30words of God. 8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then
- 5:39he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall
- 5:42value him according to his ability.
- 5:44That vowed shall the priest value him.
- 5:47So here is God's loving kindness, that he doesn't just
- 5:51demand certain amounts, that the priest had the ability, based
- 5:55upon the income level of a household, to be able to fix, to
- 6:00change those fixed rates. 9 And if it be a beast whereof men
- 6:06bring an offering unto the Lord, all that any man gives of such
- 6:09unto the Lord shall be holy. 10 He shall not alter it, nor
- 6:14change it good for bad or bad for good, He shall he, if he
- 6:18shall at all change beasts for beasts, then it in the exchange
- 6:22thereof shall be holy. So here we're going to get to
- 6:26see this little section where God calls these things holy and
- 6:30He wants them to know that every first born unto Him is His
- 6:37already. And they do not need to try to
- 6:40be deceptive and change what they had vowed and try to act as
- 6:45if this was the one that I had vowed when it wasn't.
- 6:48God sees all of it and He will not put up with us trying to be
- 6:53duplicious. 11 If any unclean beast, of which they do not
- 7:01offer a sacrifice unto the Lord, then he shall present the beast
- 7:04before the priest. So he could bring an unclean
- 7:07beast that would have not been acceptable for sacrifice, but he
- 7:13could bring it and devote it unto God. 12 And if the priest
- 7:17shall value it, whether it be good or bad, as you value it,
- 7:21who are the priests, so shall it be so.
- 7:23The priest had the final say in what the value of it would have
- 7:27been. 13 But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a
- 7:32fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.
- 7:34So a man could vow an animal and keep using it, as long as he
- 7:38paid the price of the animal plus 20%. 14 And when a man
- 7:45shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the Lord, then the
- 7:48priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad.
- 7:51As the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.
- 7:54So a man could even vow his house. 15 And if he that
- 7:58sanctify it will redeem his house, then he shall the 5th
- 8:01part of the money of the estimation unto it, and it shall
- 8:05be his, so he could continue using it as long as he paid the
- 8:08price plus 20%. Sixteen.
- 8:11And if a man shall sanctify unto the Lord some part of a field of
- 8:14his possession, then the estimation shall be according to
- 8:18the seed thereof. A Homer of barley seed shall be
- 8:21valued at 50 shekels of silver. 17 If he sanctifies field from
- 8:26the year of Jubilee, according to thy estimation it shall
- 8:29stand. So everything in the property
- 8:33values was based upon the year Jubilee and God gave provisions
- 8:38to make sure that the land always returned back to the
- 8:41proper tribe. What an amazing God we serve. 17
- 8:46If he sanctifies Field from the year of Jubilee, according to
- 8:49the estimation, it shall stand. 18 But if he sanctifies Field
- 8:53after the jubilee, then the priest shall reckon unto him the
- 8:56money according to the years that remain, even unto the year
- 9:00of Jubilee, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.
- 9:03So it all went back to that reset of the 50 years. 19 And if
- 9:10he that sanctified the field will in any ways redeem it, then
- 9:13he shall add the 5th part of the money of thy estimation unto it,
- 9:17and shall be assured to him. So if he had vowed his field and
- 9:21he still wanted to use it, he could come and pay the price of
- 9:24the field and add 20% to it. 20 And if he will not redeem the
- 9:29field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall
- 9:32not be redeemed anymore. 21 But the field when it goes out in
- 9:37jubilee shall be wholly unto the Lord, as a field devoted.
- 9:41The possession thereof shall be the priest.
- 9:44So that's what you need to know, is that God had this amazing way
- 9:49of making sure that all the land throughout all the time that the
- 9:55Jews were in the land, would go back to the proper owner that He
- 9:59is going to allot here as we get deeper into Scripture. 22 And if
- 10:07a man sanctify unto the Lord of field which he has bought, which
- 10:11is not of the fields of his possession, 23 then the priest
- 10:15shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the
- 10:19year of jubilee, and he shall give thine estimation in that
- 10:22day as a holy thing unto the Lord. 24 In the year of jubilee
- 10:27the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to
- 10:30him to whom the possession of the land did belong. 25 And all
- 10:35thy estimation shall be according to the shekel of the
- 10:38sanctuary. 20 Gera shall be the shekel.
- 10:42So here God knows how to make sure that everybody, including
- 10:47the priests or including the original families, that
- 10:51everybody is justly. Giving back all of the things
- 11:02that God had promised to them, that there would be no greed in
- 11:06the land, that there would not be anybody who got the better
- 11:11end of the stick. That it was all equal.
- 11:14And God knows that all of His ways are good.
- 11:18If we'll just get in line with God's ways and quit trying to do
- 11:22things our own way and our own understanding, we could avoid so
- 11:26many pitfalls, Friends. 26 Only the first Ling of the beast,
- 11:31which should be the Lord's first Ling.
- 11:33No man shall sanctify it, whether it be ox or sheep, It is
- 11:37the Lord's. There it is.
- 11:39He's saying don't try to offer what's already God's.
- 11:43Don't try to do that. It belongs to him. 27 And if it
- 11:49be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to
- 11:52your estimation, and it shall add a fifth part thereto.
- 11:55And if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to
- 11:59thy estimation. 28 Notwithstanding no devoted thing
- 12:05that a man shall devote unto the Lord of all that he has, both of
- 12:08man and beasts of the field, possession shall be sold or
- 12:12redeemed. Every devoted thing is most holy
- 12:15unto the Lord. 29 No devoted which shall be devoted of men
- 12:20shall be redeemed, but shall surely be put to death.
- 12:23So when God tells them to not hold back and to go in and to
- 12:29completely wipe out every single thing, that's what he means.
- 12:35And it's not for them to try and make bargains and deals.
- 12:40It's not for them to try to plague God.
- 12:43God told them what to do, and that is exactly what he expects
- 12:47for them to do. And you're going to see Saul get
- 12:50himself into trouble later because he did not fully enact
- 12:56what God had told him to do. 30 And all the tithes of the land,
- 13:00whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is
- 13:04the Lord's. It is holy unto the Lord. 31 And
- 13:08if a man will it all redeem out of his ties, he shall add
- 13:12therefore a fifth part thereof. So here he's talking about the
- 13:16seed that was to go into the field, and if a man wanted to
- 13:20buy it back, then he could hold it back after he's vowed it, but
- 13:24he needed to pay the value of it plus 20%. 32 The coronary.
- 13:31And concerning the tithe of the herd, of the flock, even of
- 13:34whatsoever passes under the rod, the tent shall be holy unto the
- 13:38Lord. So the shepherds would wait for
- 13:40the animals to pass under their rod, and every tent was marked.
- 13:4733 And he shall not search whether it be good or bad,
- 13:51neither shall he change it. And if he change it at all, then
- 13:54both it and the change thereof shall be holy.
- 13:57It shall not be redeemed. 34 These are the commandments of
- 14:01the Lord commanded Moses of the children of Israel.
- 14:04Mount Sinai. There went, friends, the whole
- 14:07book of Leviticus, and I hope that you were blessed by it.
- 14:11This is an amazing book, and we know that Jesus did not come to
- 14:15abolish the law, but to fulfill it.
- 14:17Every single thing that was outlined in the book of
- 14:20Leviticus was fulfilled in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 14:24And you and I don't need to try to live up to all the standards.
- 14:28We just need to know what the Word of God tells us in the New
- 14:31Testament. And the Old Testament together
- 14:35is perfect unity, and Jesus is the fulfillment of it all.
- 14:42It all points to Him. And they were told to not eat
- 14:49the blood of the animals sacrificed, and they were told
- 14:53to abstain from sexual immorality.
- 14:57And that is how we came into the fold, friends.
- 14:59We admitted that Jesus Christ was Lord and we were not
- 15:05required to keep all of the things of the Jewish people.
- 15:09But the church at large would do well to understand the full
- 15:15counsel of God's Word and not just what is appeasing to us,
- 15:21what is pleasing to us. Not just all of the liberties
- 15:25and luxuries that you and I get to have, but we need to know the
- 15:28full context from Genesis to Revelation.
- 15:32Nothing added and nothing subtracted.
- 15:35And that is what we have done in this book of Leviticus is we
- 15:38have dove deep down into one of the hardest books in the entire
- 15:43Bible. And I'm so incredibly glad that
- 15:46you're on this journey with me. I'm praying for you.
- 15:48I love you, and we'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 15:51God bless you.
