Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hour number two of the next round, presented by Hard
- 0:04Speaker 1: Rock Bet here on Sport and State.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Jim Dunaway, Lance Taylor, Ryan Brown. Got a weather update
- 0:10Speaker 2: in just a second before we get to the righteous
- 0:12Speaker 2: gemstone locks. But on TV number two, we've got six
- 0:16Speaker 2: on our big wall here. Josh Pate is up on
- 0:19Speaker 2: Get Up, and they're asking the question, is Saturday a
- 0:21Speaker 2: bigger game for Georgia or Alabama, Lance? Bigger game for
- 0:25Speaker 2: Georgia or Alabama?
- 0:28Speaker 3: Oh.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I would say neither.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that's, I mean.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I mean, give me what it means for a Georgia
- 0:38Speaker 1: win or an Alabama win.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Just think about where we are. If this was 2010,
- 0:41Speaker 2: this would be like. This would be for a playoff spot. Yeah,
- 0:43Speaker 2: basically for a playoff spot.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And the loser would be out of it.
- 0:46Speaker 4: This would be much bigger for Georgia based on Kirby
- 0:49Speaker 4: being 2-8 if he hadn't won his last game against Alabama.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I've got to look real quick. Georgia's schedule, what they've
- 0:56Speaker 1: got left. It's not a time. I mean, their schedule
- 1:00Speaker 1: opens up a little bit after this.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Alabama, they played nobody and they played virtually nobody after this.
- 1:04Speaker 2: This is a tougher schedule for Alabama remaining. I mean,
- 1:07Speaker 2: the Florida game in Atlanta looks tougher than it did
- 1:09Speaker 2: to start the.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Season, right? It's looking less tough after the loss. Yeah,
- 1:12Speaker 1: but tougher than where you started the season with. But
- 1:15Speaker 1: I agree, after the trip to Ole Miss, it looks
- 1:16Speaker 1: a little less difficult. The Ole Miss game... Probably looks
- 1:20Speaker 1: less difficult than it did, but that is a road game.
- 1:23Speaker 4: But at Ole Miss, you can make an argument, it's
- 1:25Speaker 4: more difficult than at LSU.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Okay. I don't disagree. Missouri looks tougher than it did,
- 1:30Speaker 1: but still doesn't worry you that much.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Missouri is tougher than A & M, at least at
- 1:34Speaker 4: this moment, until A & M possibly beats Missouri on Saturday.
- 1:38Speaker 1: At South Carolina, it looks like nothing. Georgia, I mean,
- 1:40Speaker 1: those last two. My gosh. It's two bye weeks before
- 1:42Speaker 1: the SEC championship.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Bringing the JV for the final two weeks.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Seems bigger for Alabama as far as, I mean.
- 1:48Speaker 2: The pressure point of the rest of the season.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Here's the way I would put it. It will be
- 1:51Speaker 1: easier for Georgia to rebound from a loss than Alabama.
- 1:53Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:54Speaker 2: If, if Alabama wins this one, they still have two, two, uh,
- 1:59Speaker 2: mulligans in their pocket.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Well, I think we'll know more about, like, if Georgia
- 2:03Speaker 4: loses this game by 3-7-10, you're not concerned with Georgia.
- 2:07Speaker 4: If Alabama goes out and dominates or something, then, you know,
- 2:11Speaker 4: all of a sudden you're like, damn, this Alabama team
- 2:12Speaker 4: might be the best in college football. And at the
- 2:14Speaker 4: same time, if Keelan, for whatever reason, got exposed and
- 2:17Speaker 4: turned it over three times, then you would be a
- 2:20Speaker 4: little concerned. But I think both of these teams are fine.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I think they're both playoff teams, as we talked about.
- 2:26Speaker 4: And I think the winner of this is stamped their tickets.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And odds are they meet again.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Weather update.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Weather update. Continues to be positive news again. Every time
- 2:34Speaker 1: we get one.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Not for the Gulf Coast with this hurricanes making landfall
- 2:38Speaker 2: and then the storms as it makes landfall. This is
- 2:40Speaker 2: a serious storm. You should take it serious. But as
- 2:43Speaker 2: far as Bryant-Denny Stadium and everything going on inside the
- 2:47Speaker 2: stadium and outside for tailgating, what's the latest? So Mike Rodak,
- 2:51Speaker 2: who covers Alabama, shared this graphic. And it is a
- 2:55Speaker 2: Scotty showing it to you if you're watching his own video.
- 2:57Speaker 2: If not, I'll do my best to describe it. But basically,
- 2:59Speaker 2: this is from one of the models the National Weather
- 3:02Speaker 2: Service uses, which is showing Saturday 8 a.m.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Central Time. That's the start of game day. That is
- 3:12Speaker 1: the start of game day. And if you know your geography,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you can find where Tuscaloosa is on that map, and
- 3:17Speaker 1: it is in a clear area. So at least that
- 3:20Speaker 1: one forecast is showing that the weather might be even
- 3:23Speaker 1: out of Tuscaloosa for the start of game day, which
- 3:25Speaker 1: would also be the start of your tailgating. So again,
- 3:28Speaker 1: every time we get a weather forecast, it gets more
- 3:33Speaker 1: and more positive for this game. And that's even positive
- 3:35Speaker 1: for game day, which there were discussions of it moving inside. Yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 1: all very interesting there. I will also say this is
- 3:42Speaker 1: in terms of the field. Alabama has got the sub-air
- 3:46Speaker 1: system like they use at Augusta National. I remember when
- 3:48Speaker 1: they put it in because they talked about it being
- 3:51Speaker 1: the one they use at Augusta National. Actually, it was
- 3:53Speaker 1: invented in Augusta, Georgia. For those that don't know what
- 3:55Speaker 1: that is, it's an underground and Augusta has it in
- 3:58Speaker 1: all their greens and, and many of their fairways as well.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It's a system that can either suck water out of
- 4:05Speaker 1: the turf or add water into the turf as needed.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And if you go to Augusta, I've been over there
- 4:10Speaker 1: when they're using it. Um, when, was it when I
- 4:13Speaker 1: was playing or when I was there for the masters?
- 4:15Speaker 1: I can't remember. Um, but at Augusta national, that was
- 4:18Speaker 1: clearly a joke. I've never played the course. Um, You
- 4:20Speaker 1: can see areas where steam is coming up out of
- 4:23Speaker 1: the ground because it's sucking the moisture out, converting it
- 4:25Speaker 1: to steam, and releasing it through a vent in the ground.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So that's a very high-tech system. So the playing field
- 4:30Speaker 1: will be perfect for this game. It's perfect as it
- 4:32Speaker 1: can be.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Because we have, since that system has been in place,
- 4:35Speaker 2: we have brought helicopters to help dry before.
- 4:40Speaker 1: But, I mean, that's just... As best as a grass
- 4:43Speaker 1: surface can be with a monsoon rain. Yeah, with a
- 4:45Speaker 1: sub-air system, you've got as good as anybody's got.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It was absolutely a selling point for Saban in recruiting
- 4:51Speaker 2: that you're playing on the best surface you possibly can
- 4:53Speaker 2: play on.
- 4:53Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah. Nick Saban literally had everything you could
- 4:57Speaker 1: spend money on. They've got a sub-air system under Bryant-Denny Stadium.
- 5:00Speaker 1: That's right. Just like Augusta National. Just like Augusta National.
- 5:03Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Before I tell you about Hard Rock.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Bets, just last week, the Righteous Gemstone Locks, The one
- 5:12Speaker 2: I missed, I won't even give myself a win on this,
- 5:14Speaker 2: Cam Cook. I had him good up to 150 yards.
- 5:17Speaker 1: He only went 142. Oh, man. So I'll count that
- 5:20Speaker 1: as an L. That's an L.
- 5:21Speaker 2: But that was way over what the running total was
- 5:23Speaker 2: for Cam Cook. I had Deshaun Bishop good to 150 yards.
- 5:29Speaker 1: He went way over that against Auburn.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I had Alabama-Mississippi State over the 60.5, way over that one.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I had Clemson first half. Plus 9.5. I think that
- 5:40Speaker 2: was 9. So that's a win there. I had Stanford
- 5:43Speaker 2: and Wake over 53.5. I think that went way over.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And I had Pitt plus 3.5 versus Virginia Tech. That's
- 5:49Speaker 2: a winner as well. So if you count the Cam
- 5:52Speaker 2: Cook as a loss, I miss one. If you don't,
- 5:54Speaker 2: that's unbeaten. We'll get to that right after I tell
- 5:57Speaker 2: you about our friends at Hard Rock Bet. If you
- 5:59Speaker 2: want to play some of these fun games and you're
- 6:00Speaker 2: in a legal area to do that, like Florida. Then

- 6:07Speaker 2: the fun stuff you can do there.

- 6:44Speaker 1: Hit the music, man. Take off the hat.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It is time for the Righteous Gemstone Locks of the Week.
- 6:56Speaker 1: The robe, please. Thank you, Brooks. Oh, we've got a
- 6:58Speaker 1: robe this week?
- 7:00Speaker 4: It's a Hydra Live blanket.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I left the choir robe. Oh, this looks good. I
- 7:06Speaker 1: like that. Here we go. Here we go. Very royal.
- 7:08Speaker 1: First one, let's go NFL tonight. Righteous gemstone lots. No
- 7:13Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield again, right, Lance?
- 7:15Speaker 4: Yeah, Jalen Daniels will make his second career start tonight.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah, probably couldn't still start at Kansas.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I think 8.5 is the spread. I'm good on the
- 7:23Speaker 2: Cowboys if you want to tick that up. Cowboys minus
- 7:25Speaker 2: 13.5 tonight. Oh, two scores for the Cowboys.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Minus 13.5. I'm good with that tonight. Okay.
- 7:32Speaker 4: The Bucs, believe it or not, 10 straight one-possession games
- 7:35Speaker 4: going back to last year.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But, to your point, the.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Bucs have lost 13 straight against the number, which is
- 7:44Speaker 4: the longest ever.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Streak in the Super Bowl era. That's hard to do,
- 7:48Speaker 1: losing 13 against another. They have not covered in 13
- 7:51Speaker 1: straight games.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Did you hear that, bro?
- 7:52Speaker 1: I did hear that. That is very difficult to do.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Good coaches do what?
- 7:56Speaker 4: They win. Great coaches cover.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Todd Bowles right now doing neither 0-4. I'm good up
- 8:01Speaker 1: to 13.5.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Tonight on that one uh our friends at budweiser they're
- 8:07Speaker 2: the king of beers right that is correct yes miller
- 8:11Speaker 2: this weekend will be the king of tears king miller
- 8:14Speaker 2: goes into penn state i'm good to up to 121
- 8:19Speaker 2: rushing yards for king miller this weekend anything to.
- 8:23Speaker 1: 121 i'm good with the king miller wherever you get
- 8:26Speaker 1: that at hard rock bet this weekend This Penn State
- 8:29Speaker 1: team is not good, but I don't trust USC, especially
- 8:33Speaker 1: in the Eastern time zone.
- 8:34Speaker 4: I gave you those numbers, right?
- 8:36Speaker 1: USC in the Eastern time zone? Let me throw this
- 8:40Speaker 1: out to you because you have been so big on
- 8:41Speaker 1: USC this week, and I did get this confirmed.
- 8:46Speaker 4: This is pretty amazing. Hold tight. Two seconds.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Pump that music right there, man. So since 2012, USC
- 8:50Speaker 1: is just 3-16 straight up, 1-17-1 against the number in
- 8:52Speaker 1: games played In the Central and Eastern time zones. One, 17,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and one.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:02Speaker 1: So in 19 games, they've only covered once. Yeah. That
- 9:05Speaker 1: involves air travel. King Miller on the Trail of Tears
- 9:10Speaker 1: running the ball 121. I'm good for him running the football.
- 9:15Speaker 1: It's upset Fri-yay here. Righteous gemstone locks here. The Huskies
- 9:22Speaker 1: getting on Friday, right? They're a Friday game. Iowa and Washington.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm good in the over on this one. 41.5.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Play the over Huskies in Iowa. That's a righteous gemstone lock.
- 9:36Speaker 2: How about you talked about Bear Bachmeier. That's another Friday game.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Not a good player. BYU. Bear wears what number?
- 9:43Speaker 4: 47.
- 9:45Speaker 1: 47. I think he goes under his number in official
- 9:49Speaker 1: rushing yards in this game. Less than 47 in rushing
- 9:53Speaker 1: yards for Bear Bachmeier.
- 9:55Speaker 4: That will be a problem for BYU. Again, no L.J. Martin.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Bear Bachmeier was unable to throw.
- 10:00Speaker 3: It.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I think he had 62 passing yards last week.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That was like a loss right there.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yeah, that'd be a problem.
- 10:04Speaker 2: A little problem for Bear Bachmeier this weekend. Red River
- 10:09Speaker 2: this weekend. Righteous gemstone lock here. If you can find
- 10:13Speaker 2: it in any of the markets, Mateer versus Arch Manning,
- 10:17Speaker 2: total touchdowns. Mateer beats Arch Manning in total touchdowns this weekend.
- 10:22Speaker 2: That's a righteous gemstone lock.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Now, are you including scooping scores and pick sixes? Mateer
- 10:31Speaker 1: throws an interception.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Or just drops the ball, which he did against Georgia.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Mateer either running or throwing them in more than Arch
- 10:40Speaker 1: running and throwing them in. I like Mateer. Righteous gemstone lock.
- 10:43Speaker 1: That's the biggest one out there. Not as windy as
- 10:46Speaker 1: I first wrote this righteous Jim Stone lockdown. Still do
- 10:50Speaker 1: the joke, though.
- 10:50Speaker 2: For Tuscaloosa. But I have Keelan Russell. I'm good at
- 10:56Speaker 2: over one and a half turnovers in this game.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Oh, Jim.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Over one and a half turnovers for Keelan Russell in
- 11:02Speaker 2: this game, interception and or fumble.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Only two turnovers were against Kentucky, right?
- 11:08Speaker 4: Man, he has been so efficient.
- 11:10Speaker 1: You know, his first five starts, he's got a higher
- 11:12Speaker 1: total QBR than than either Bryce Young or Ty Simpson
- 11:17Speaker 1: had in their first five career starts. That's pretty good
- 11:20Speaker 1: company there, yeah. Two more. Nebraska, their big game with Indiana.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Matt Rule on Lanterns, the HBO show this past week
- 11:30Speaker 1: where he recruited a fictional five-star quarterback. He's about to
- 11:34Speaker 1: be 0-10 at Nebraska versus ranked teams. I'm good with
- 11:39Speaker 1: Josh Hoover. Four touchdowns or more in this game. Josh
- 11:44Speaker 1: Hoover with a big game. Total touchdowns, running or throwing
- 11:47Speaker 1: them in.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Wow.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Josh Hoover, four or more touchdowns this weekend. I'm good
- 11:51Speaker 1: at it.
- 11:52Speaker 4: How far do you think you have to go back
- 11:53Speaker 4: last time they beat a ranked team? I'm talking about
- 11:55Speaker 4: number of games.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Nebraska?
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yeah, because Matt Rule is 0-9 against top 25s in Lincoln,
- 12:02Speaker 4: but this number goes back a lot further than Matt Rule.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Oh, man. Oh. I'll go. Is this going to sound crazy?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Is it 120 games? No. It's 31.
- 12:16Speaker 4: No, I'm talking about.
- 12:17Speaker 1: A ranked team?
- 12:19Speaker 4: Since playing a ranked team. They've lost 31 straight playing
- 12:23Speaker 4: ranked teams.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Oh, okay. I got you. 31 is a big number.
- 12:26Speaker 4: That is a huge number. 120 would have taken us
- 12:28Speaker 4: back probably 25, 30 years.
- 12:30Speaker 5: No, no.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I get what you're saying now. I was just going
- 12:32Speaker 1: total number. Yeah, but the fact that he will be
- 12:34Speaker 1: 0-10 if they lose this weekend just at Nebraska... It's
- 12:38Speaker 1: a little bit of an issue.
- 12:39Speaker 4: It will kill that 5-0 start.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Last one. UCLA on the road at Oregon.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I do feel like Ryola, who will get to start
- 12:49Speaker 2: again because Dante's out, comes back to earth a lot
- 12:51Speaker 2: in this one. The good news is Oregon's defense steps up.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I've got UCLA.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'm good up to 128.5 under rushing yards. I don't
- 13:00Speaker 1: think they go over 128 rushing for UCLA. That's your
- 13:02Speaker 1: key stat in the game. Under 128.5 rushing for UCLA.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Oregon wins going away.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Well, look, they're only allowing 3.6 yards per carry. On
- 13:14Speaker 4: the other side, UCLA leads the FES almost 7 yards
- 13:18Speaker 4: a carry.
- 13:18Speaker 1: They lead it.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, 282 yards a game on the ground.
- 13:23Speaker 4: And Oregon's run defense has been really good.
- 13:27Speaker 1: 128.5 or less. Under that. Under that. That's your righteous
- 13:32Speaker 1: gemstone locks for the weekend. Do you like any of them, Lance? Um....
- 13:41Speaker 4: Not really. I mean, I do like Oregon to win
- 13:43Speaker 4: this game. And, boy, that is a drastic, drastic drop-off
- 13:48Speaker 4: for UCLA.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That would be 160 yards below their average.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Yeah, like UCLA at that point, I would almost play
- 13:54Speaker 4: under their team total, whatever that number is going to be.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Like UCLA might score 10 points if that's the situation.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Yep.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Forrester said in a very Brown-like move, he wanted to
- 14:05Speaker 2: see me disrobe on the show. So you want me
- 14:07Speaker 2: to take this off on camera?
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's time to disrobe. Yeah. So we disrobe on the
- 14:10Speaker 1: show here. Righteous Jim Stone locks her over. You. You.
- 14:16Speaker 1: You jovial Southsiders. Take it easy. I'm Japanese. And I'm
- 14:20Speaker 1: sure the chat room says put the hat back on. Yes.
- 14:24Speaker 1: The music sounds a little bit like Bad Beats music.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And they were saying, wait a minute, have I stumbled
- 14:29Speaker 1: into Bad Beats here? I forgot about that.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Dunaway has never wanted to take something and make it
- 14:35Speaker 4: our own.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I forgot about that. Well, I came up with this
- 14:38Speaker 1: idea last week about this. 17 minutes before the start
- 14:41Speaker 1: of the show technically tyler found the music so tyler
- 14:43Speaker 1: was the one that shows that which is the perfect
- 14:45Speaker 1: music for this segment never change it yeah but it
- 14:47Speaker 1: does sound a little bit like the bad beats music
- 14:49Speaker 1: yeah forrester did the graphics and uh i made the
- 14:52Speaker 1: pics and i was the thought of us ever having
- 14:54Speaker 1: episode two was an upset and i did so well
- 14:57Speaker 1: i forgot all about it until brown about 17 minutes
- 15:00Speaker 1: before the show said hey are we doing the righteous
- 15:02Speaker 1: gemstone locks again you were supposed to go borrow well
- 15:04Speaker 1: that was how jim remembered the segment because i walked
- 15:07Speaker 1: in and i was like no robe you didn't get
- 15:08Speaker 1: the robe And I was like, ah.
- 15:10Speaker 5: He had me look like the pastoral intern at like
- 15:13Speaker 5: a mega church that walks out with the stool for
- 15:16Speaker 5: the pastor.
- 15:16Speaker 1: That's true. I did ask for a robe. I have
- 15:21Speaker 1: a contact. And the word sacrilegious may have been thrown out.
- 15:27Speaker 1: If it's a choir robe, it's not. I think a
- 15:29Speaker 1: choir robe will work.
- 15:30Speaker 2: A lot of choir robes have crosses on them.
- 15:33Speaker 1: You can probably find one of those with the haunted
- 15:36Speaker 1: store spirit. Spirit Halloween.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And I even offered my Pop-Tart costume.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I've got that in the car ready to go.
- 15:42Speaker 4: The Righteous Gemstones probably sat religious enough.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Probably so. I think we're okay there.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Have you seen the show?
- 15:50Speaker 1: Oh, you mean the show. I thought you meant Jim's segment.
- 15:51Speaker 4: The show is awesome. Oh, yeah.
- 15:54Speaker 1: It's definitely sacrilegious. So you in a white collar, is
- 15:58Speaker 1: that sacrilegious? Yeah, that would be really sacrilegious. I'm just
- 16:01Speaker 1: trying to think through this.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Well, you're playing a part. Like if somebody plays a
- 16:07Speaker 4: priest or a preacher or a pastor in a movie,
- 16:09Speaker 4: I mean, you're just playing a part.
- 16:10Speaker 1: That's right. Just playing a part.
- 16:12Speaker 2: I mean, if I started like, you know, I'll take,
- 16:16Speaker 2: we'll say Notre Dame football. having 17 penalties in this,
- 16:20Speaker 2: that we penalize more than you are in Leviticus.
- 16:22Speaker 4: That gets sacrilegious.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I don't think we need biblical references, probably. That gets sacrilegious.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Let's don't go crazy here.
- 16:28Speaker 2: When we come back, we will jump into a little
- 16:32Speaker 2: NFL tonight and what's happening this weekend and get to
- 16:35Speaker 2: our NFL power rankings and then turn back to some
- 16:38Speaker 2: more college football. All that right here on Hard Rock
- 16:42Speaker 2: Bets next round on Sporting State. We continue on Sporting State,
- 16:46Speaker 2: and we're already getting legends for the SEC Championship game weekend.
- 16:51Speaker 2: First off, do you all believe this is the last
- 16:53Speaker 2: SEC Championship game ever?
- 16:55Speaker 4: I do. I mean, it's sad, but I think where
- 16:57Speaker 4: we are right now, there's just not the buzz that
- 16:59Speaker 4: it once was. It used to be, for sure, one
- 17:02Speaker 4: of the top four or five games in all of
- 17:04Speaker 4: college football. But where we are right now with the expansion,
- 17:08Speaker 4: especially if we go 24, it's impossible.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I'm going to say... before Scott puts the graphic up,
- 17:13Speaker 1: because I want you all to guess Alabama's, I'm going
- 17:16Speaker 1: to say it's the best class I can remember. So
- 17:18Speaker 1: that may indicate that this is the last one. They
- 17:21Speaker 1: may be trying to go out with a bang on
- 17:22Speaker 1: this one. For those that don't know, the SEC honors
- 17:26Speaker 1: legends before the SEC champion. If you're a Vandy and
- 17:28Speaker 1: Ole Miss fan, you've never been to this. They honor
- 17:31Speaker 1: legends before the SEC championship game. Out on the field,
- 17:35Speaker 1: they introduce them. We have been very honored that the
- 17:38Speaker 1: SEC has asked us. They do a stage in the
- 17:42Speaker 1: SEC Fan Fair next door to the stadium. They've asked
- 17:44Speaker 1: us the last couple of years to come over and
- 17:46Speaker 1: interview all the legends for the assembled crowd there. It's
- 17:50Speaker 1: a very nice honor for us, and we've met some
- 17:52Speaker 1: very good people you've seen on the show, actually. Chase
- 17:54Speaker 1: Daniel last year, Ben Xiong, people like that. It's a
- 17:58Speaker 1: fantastic event. So each school has a legend, even Texas
- 18:02Speaker 1: and Oklahoma guys that didn't even play in the SEC,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and they're honored before the game. Who do you think
- 18:05Speaker 1: Alabama's is for the 2026 class?
- 18:09Speaker 4: Now, is there a time? So it's somebody that is just.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Anybody that's ever played there. It doesn't have to be recent, yeah.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Oh.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I will say most of these are not recent, in fact. Yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 1: but they don't do coaches, right? They do do coaches. Okay,
- 18:22Speaker 1: because you said players. Yeah, R.C. Slocum was there last year, remember?
- 18:25Speaker 1: That's right.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I'm randomly going to go Cornelius Bennett.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Not Cornelius Bennett. Jim Dunaway?
- 18:33Speaker 4: I was going as random as I could.
- 18:34Speaker 1: That is fairly random. He was an SEC legend.
- 18:37Speaker 4: He was a long time ago.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I mean, places like Alabama, unfortunately, guys are never going
- 18:41Speaker 1: to get recognized in this because there have been so many.
- 18:44Speaker 1: There's some schools I think they kind of have to scrape. Well,
- 18:46Speaker 1: I mean, Mark Ingram's gotten a lot of play because
- 18:48Speaker 1: he's going in the College Football Hall of Fame, but
- 18:51Speaker 1: I think that gets a separate recognition maybe at the game.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I'm going to say from that team... And how would
- 18:56Speaker 2: he do that?
- 18:57Speaker 4: Because he'd be part of Fox for Big Ten.
- 18:59Speaker 1: That's true. He may not be there. I'm going to say...
- 19:03Speaker 1: From that same team, Rolando McLean. We'll have to debate
- 19:09Speaker 1: whether or not this person has earned it, but the
- 19:13Speaker 1: 2026 legend for the University of Alabama is Nick Saban.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I mean, I think Nick Saban's a pretty obvious choice,
- 19:20Speaker 1: isn't it?
- 19:20Speaker 4: Yeah, this is the final year of the... Tell me
- 19:23Speaker 4: it's the final year of the SEC championship game without
- 19:26Speaker 4: telling me it's the final year of the SEC championship game.
- 19:29Speaker 4: We've got to shoot high on these next ones.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Nick Saban in. Felix Jones for Arkansas, well-deserved. Benji Rowland,
- 19:35Speaker 1: the Auburn great defender. Our buddy Chris Doering. Congrats to
- 19:39Speaker 1: Chris Doering going in. Florida Gators. Georgia head coach Mark Richt.
- 19:43Speaker 1: If you think Alabama and Georgia play in the conference
- 19:45Speaker 1: championship game, how about that? I mean, there's another one. Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Randall Cobb, the great guitarist. receiver.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Clay's neighbor, by the way.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah. Patrick Peterson, one of the best defensive
- 19:56Speaker 1: backs ever to have done it. Another great one.
- 19:58Speaker 4: There at LSU.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Tony Bennett from Ole Miss. Darius Slay from Mississippi State.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri. The legendary Billy Sims for Oklahoma. Wow.
- 20:08Speaker 1: How about that? Sidney Rice at South Carolina. John Henderson,
- 20:13Speaker 1: the great defensive lineman from Tennessee. Ricky Williams from Texas.
- 20:19Speaker 1: You got Billy.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Sims and Rick DeWitt.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Texas A & M, Sam Adams and Casey Hayward, the
- 20:27Speaker 1: Vanderbilt representative.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Some big-time names.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That's as good a class as I can remember. You're
- 20:32Speaker 1: not kidding. Are we slated to be back there? We
- 20:35Speaker 1: have been invited, yes.
- 20:38Speaker 4: By the way.
- 20:39Speaker 1: We'll have some pretty good interviews. I look forward to those. Friday,
- 20:43Speaker 1: October 9th.
- 20:43Speaker 2: As tomorrow is the public deadline date on which the
- 20:47Speaker 2: negotiating period on ESPN to offer exclusively what they think
- 20:52Speaker 2: an expanded 2014 playoff would be. That, according to Ross Dellinger,
- 20:56Speaker 2: so that window closes tomorrow. And many people believe that
- 21:01Speaker 2: with everybody on board except the SEC who's open to it,
- 21:07Speaker 2: that we are moving quickly forward. down the line Ross
- 21:10Speaker 2: Dellinger has a big story at on three sports today
- 21:13Speaker 2: if you want to get the details but many people
- 21:15Speaker 2: believe by December 1st we'll have the announcement of a
- 21:18Speaker 2: 24 team college football playoff next year and I will
- 21:23Speaker 2: just say this up front I just asked you which
- 21:26Speaker 2: game which team Alabama or Georgia is this game more
- 21:30Speaker 2: important for this weekend that's with a 12 team if
- 21:33Speaker 2: we were doing a 24 team playoff how important is
- 21:37Speaker 2: this game at all this weekend I mean I mean,
- 21:40Speaker 2: you know you can drop three games.
- 21:41Speaker 1: The only thing that would be on the line here
- 21:44Speaker 1: is in the 2014, everybody's going to play a... No,
- 21:48Speaker 1: there's eight buys. No, everybody plays at least one on-campus game, right?
- 21:54Speaker 1: There will be two rounds of on-campus. Yeah, at least one, though.
- 21:56Speaker 1: So you at least get to host the second round on-campus.
- 21:58Speaker 1: If you have the buy, yes. If you have the buy.
- 22:00Speaker 1: So that would be the most important thing coming out
- 22:02Speaker 1: of this game. But with eight buys, the loser of
- 22:04Speaker 1: this game could easily finish with one loss and host
- 22:07Speaker 1: a playoff game.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's... Interesting dynamic on if you're pro 24
- 22:12Speaker 2: or not pro 24, what it does to the regular season,
- 22:15Speaker 2: what it does to games like Alabama and Georgia this weekend.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Tell us about XXXY and we'll jump into some NFL conversation.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Jennifer Say, national champion gymnast. She was the brand president
- 22:26Speaker 1: there for Levi and rather than say something she did
- 22:28Speaker 1: not believe in. She left a corporate job and started
- 22:32Speaker 1: XXXY Athletics instead. Their words, their mission, empower female athletes
- 22:38Speaker 1: to take a stand for fair competition. So they launched
- 22:40Speaker 1: it with a T that launched a movement. And it's
- 22:43Speaker 1: real athletic apparel, not just a slogan on a shirt.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Performance tops, tanks, sports bras, leggings, shorts, training sets, men's
- 22:49Speaker 1: and women's, hoodies, hats, graphic tees, all of that right there.

- 22:59Speaker 1: Balls gear, the future NBA franchise for Clay. They got
- 23:03Speaker 1: a shirt, they got tees, they got the trucker hats
- 23:05Speaker 1: right there. This is worn by athletes that have put

- 23:20Speaker 2: First, Lance, are the Eagles tanking now with the Lane
- 23:24Speaker 2: Johnson retirement for mental health reasons? They trade away Cam Juergens.
- 23:29Speaker 2: For a fifth round next year and a second round
- 23:31Speaker 2: in 2028, Landon Dickerson's on the shelf already. What's Howie
- 23:36Speaker 2: Roseman doing? Are they in a tank situation?
- 23:40Speaker 4: They're not tanking right now. I don't know if this
- 23:41Speaker 4: is a statement on this offensive line has been really,
- 23:44Speaker 4: really bad. You know, a prayer's up to Lane Johnson.
- 23:48Speaker 4: You know, mental health is, you know, I have this
- 23:51Speaker 4: conversation with a lot of people all the time. Mental
- 23:52Speaker 4: and physical health, they go hand in hand. So you
- 23:55Speaker 4: hope that he gets in a good place really, really soon.
- 23:58Speaker 1: With all that said, they've lost back-to-back games.
- 24:00Speaker 4: The game against the Bears was baffling because they were
- 24:02Speaker 4: dominated by a backup quarterback and what Case Keenum was
- 24:07Speaker 4: able to do. But last week, they absolutely blew that game.
- 24:10Speaker 4: They're still 2-1-2. So I don't understand. Howie Roseman's not
- 24:14Speaker 4: a guy that's going to tank. Devontae Smith will be
- 24:17Speaker 4: back sooner than later. Saquon will be back sooner than later.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I saw Orlovsky and Dan covers the whole NFL. But
- 24:22Speaker 1: as you know, for years of him coming on this show,
- 24:24Speaker 1: his wife's a Philadelphia fan. He's lived in Philadelphia before.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So I think he probably is familiar with that franchise
- 24:31Speaker 1: as any of the other franchises. And he called it
- 24:35Speaker 1: a rebuild yesterday on social media in response to the
- 24:38Speaker 1: Cam Juergens trade. on the heels of the Lane Johnson announcement,
- 24:41Speaker 1: the rebuild is on. So, I mean, those are Orlovsky's words.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Well, if you play this out, first Lane Johnson makes
- 24:47Speaker 2: the decision because of mental health reasons, you know, thought
- 24:50Speaker 2: he had it in the tank to go battle another year,
- 24:53Speaker 2: does not. The Eagles were 122-63 when he played, 18-30
- 25:00Speaker 2: without him. So he's been big for them. I think
- 25:03Speaker 2: he was a 14-year veteran. Then right after he makes
- 25:06Speaker 2: that announcement to trade your center, and already have Dickerson
- 25:10Speaker 2: on the shelf, that's why I started questioning, is it
- 25:13Speaker 2: a rebuild? Because you have a guy that you weren't
- 25:16Speaker 2: planning on retiring. You had a starter that's out, and
- 25:20Speaker 2: then you trade your center away. It feels like if
- 25:23Speaker 2: you're not happy with your quarterback, you're not happy with
- 25:25Speaker 2: your coach, this is the way you sort of play
- 25:27Speaker 2: your way into a better draft.
- 25:29Speaker 4: It seems really, really early if I'm an Eagles fan,
- 25:31Speaker 4: and I've been listening to them coming off that Rams loss.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I mean, you've still got.
- 25:37Speaker 4: The Commanders, you've got the Giants twice with backup quarterbacks.
- 25:40Speaker 4: You've got the Texans that are winless. You've got the
- 25:43Speaker 4: Cardinals on this schedule. You've got the Steelers at home.
- 25:46Speaker 4: I mean, you've just got a lot of winnable games
- 25:48Speaker 4: as bad as Philadelphia is right now compared to what
- 25:51Speaker 4: they've been the last couple of years.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Roseman says they're still trying to win, but his actions
- 25:56Speaker 2: may be saying something different. Before we show our power
- 26:00Speaker 2: rating this week in the NFL... Lance won our first go-around.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Are you guys interested real quickly in throwing out a
- 26:06Speaker 2: survivor pool winner this weekend?
- 26:07Speaker 1: I am all in. All in. Let's go part two.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Doesn't matter to me.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Lance is up 1-0. Okay. Do you have one already? No. Okay.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Let me look. I did not know we were doing
- 26:15Speaker 1: this today.
- 26:16Speaker 2: The Texans are 0-4. I don't even know who they're playing.
- 26:19Speaker 2: So you're going against the Texans. I will take the Texans.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Oh, you're the best at this.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I mean, Jim goes with the most absurd choices. There's
- 26:28Speaker 1: no way the Texans are going to be playing.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I mean, the good news is they are at Tennessee.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:33Speaker 2: There's no way the Texans are 0-5, and they're playing Tennessee,
- 26:37Speaker 2: so I'll take the Texans. Anybody in with me on
- 26:39Speaker 2: the Texans?
- 26:42Speaker 4: No, but I will fade.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Don't fade the Dolphins every week. It's going to burn you.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I will fade the Bucs tonight. Again, I will just
- 26:50Speaker 4: play a team that hasn't covered in 14, 13 consecutive games,
- 26:54Speaker 4: and they're catching eight and a half. This will be
- 26:55Speaker 4: a terrible loss for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 26:58Speaker 1: So I will take Dallas.
- 26:59Speaker 4: What an idiot.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I really told myself in the break when I was
- 27:02Speaker 2: going to bring this up to take the Cowboys, and
- 27:04Speaker 2: I forgot it in a matter of six minutes.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah. I will take the Jaguar.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Against Philadelphia in London.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Playing host to the Eagles.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Yep.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Now, the only thing I would say about this, I
- 27:14Speaker 4: think the Jags are one of the best teams in
- 27:16Speaker 4: the NFL, and you'll see it with the power rankings
- 27:18Speaker 4: here coming up. The last time they played in London,
- 27:21Speaker 4: they got decapitated.
- 27:22Speaker 1: They did, but it feels like the Eagles are deflated.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I mean, with everything we just talked about, I am
- 27:29Speaker 1: going to take the Jags.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I think there is a chance that you're listening to
- 27:32Speaker 2: too much Philadelphia talk radio. Tyler, do you have your
- 27:37Speaker 2: team picked yet?
- 27:38Speaker 1: I do.
- 27:39Speaker 3: So earlier this week, I saw my Saints get absolutely
- 27:43Speaker 3: brutalized by Scott's Falcons.
- 27:45Speaker 1: You did.
- 27:46Speaker 3: So I'm taking the Vikings because I see that they're
- 27:49Speaker 3: 4-0 and the Saints are not.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Skinny favorite in New Orleans, the Vikings.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Yeah, minus two and a half.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Dicey, dicey choice. Oh, well, shoot.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I like the Saints here. But, hey,
- 27:58Speaker 4: you go with your pick.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah, you never know. You never know. Brooks, who are
- 28:03Speaker 1: you surviving with?
- 28:04Speaker 5: I'm going to take the Steelers at home on 10
- 28:07Speaker 5: days rest. The Colts are traveling back on a short
- 28:10Speaker 5: week from London, playing at Pittsburgh on 10 days rest.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Another skinny favorite. Yeah, you guys are daredevils when it
- 28:15Speaker 1: comes to the old suicide pool.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I sucked at this.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Body clock game for Brooks. And finally, Forrester, who's more
- 28:22Speaker 2: worried about his jovial Southsiders than he is football.
- 28:25Speaker 1: What do you got? Far more concerned. Yeah, Browns Dolphins suck.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Give me the Bengals.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Y'all are going to get burned in this. The Dolphins
- 28:33Speaker 1: are getting better every week. I do think this is
- 28:35Speaker 1: the Dolphins' win. That's why I stayed away from it.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I faded them every week. They are getting better every week.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Y'all are playing the Bengals? They are playing the Bengals
- 28:41Speaker 1: in Miami, yes. Wow, all right. The Bengals are going
- 28:43Speaker 1: to get hard rocked, and they're going to stand over
- 28:45Speaker 1: there in that sun.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I mean, since you've been meteorologist all week, how hot
- 28:48Speaker 4: is it going to be in Miami?
- 28:49Speaker 1: Plenty hot.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Because Florida's wearing the white jerseys, which obviously is not
- 28:53Speaker 4: in South Florida, but it gets down there.
- 28:55Speaker 1: 91 is your projected.
- 28:56Speaker 4: High on that.
- 28:57Speaker 1: They're going to stand over there in that sun. And
- 29:00Speaker 1: Chase and Higgins banged up. That's right.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 29:03Speaker 1: It's a banged up team.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Y'all are going to get burned going against the Dolphins.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Let's see our power ratings this week.
- 29:08Speaker 1: We give you the.
- 29:10Speaker 2: top five and the bottom five for me, it's a
- 29:13Speaker 2: 49 over 49ers across the board.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Guys have finally come around.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I haven't come around.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Nobody saved the graphic this week. Uh, 49ers bills, chiefs,
- 29:22Speaker 2: Seahawks Rams for me. Uh, and at the bottom, I
- 29:26Speaker 2: go chargers, Cardinals, Buccaneers, dolphins.
- 29:31Speaker 1: There you go. Titans. The dolphins are better than the Titans.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I can't believe Lance hasn't noticed this yet. A lot
- 29:37Speaker 1: of similarities here. Lance, what do you have?
- 29:40Speaker 4: I've got the 49ers, Seahawks, Jags move up a spot,
- 29:43Speaker 4: Bills drop a spot. I've got the Chiefs in there,
- 29:46Speaker 4: undefeated still. And then the bottom, much like you guys.
- 29:50Speaker 4: I'm just going with the Dolphins until they win a game.
- 29:52Speaker 4: I do think that might be this week. I mean,
- 29:55Speaker 4: them and the Titans are interchangeable. Then your Bucs, they
- 29:59Speaker 4: are really, really bad. Jets and Chargers until they.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Win a game.
- 30:03Speaker 4: But I think this might be the week the Chargers
- 30:05Speaker 4: get to Bo Nix.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Oh, interesting. That'd be big in the AFC West there.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Brownie?
- 30:10Speaker 1: 49ers, Chiefs, Seahawks, Rams, Jaguar up top for me. I
- 30:14Speaker 1: am the, I guess I'm the... You're no Bills? I
- 30:19Speaker 1: am no Bills. I lost last week, Jim. It's tough
- 30:21Speaker 1: in my power rink because you lose a game. Of course,
- 30:23Speaker 1: now I've had to look past some Rams.
- 30:24Speaker 4: I can't believe you guys have the Rams in your
- 30:26Speaker 4: top five.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Oh, God, don't play this game.
- 30:28Speaker 4: I'm not trying to play the game. I mean, they're not.
- 30:31Speaker 4: They're the best team in the NFL. They're not whole. Now,
- 30:33Speaker 4: they could be by November, but right now.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I can't believe you really have the Texans in the
- 30:37Speaker 1: bottom five. Jim, they're winless. Chargers, Texans, Bucs, Dolphins, Titans,
- 30:42Speaker 1: my bottom five.
- 30:43Speaker 4: The Texans so close.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I know. So close to being three and one.
- 30:47Speaker 4: They are winless, but that's a good Texas team.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I think what we're seeing here, Lance, that you and
- 30:51Speaker 2: I are doing power ratings and Brown is just showing
- 30:53Speaker 2: us the standings.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Maybe. I got the Rams in there.
- 30:57Speaker 4: They're 2-2. We'll give him credit. He does have the
- 31:00Speaker 4: Jags in his top five.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Well, the Jags actually were my– I had Jags written down,
- 31:05Speaker 2: and I was like, I cannot have the Jags over
- 31:07Speaker 2: the Rams.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Listen, you say this about the Rams, Lance. They're about
- 31:09Speaker 1: to play the Bills, who you've got fourth. I've got
- 31:11Speaker 1: Rams fourth. You've got Bills fourth. The Rams are going
- 31:13Speaker 1: to win that game. I mean, the Rams are the
- 31:14Speaker 1: better team than the Bills.
- 31:16Speaker 4: I don't know if they're going to win that game.
- 31:17Speaker 1: They are.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Josh Allen's tough out. Back-to-back games.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Yep.
- 31:22Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 31:23Speaker 5: By the way, did you see where your guy, D'Amico Ryans,
- 31:26Speaker 5: is taking back over defensive play calling for the Texans?
- 31:28Speaker 4: Somebody needs to.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Why did he give it up?
- 31:30Speaker 5: I know.
- 31:30Speaker 1: That's why we have you as our head coach. When
- 31:32Speaker 1: did he give it up? Just in the offseason? I'm
- 31:34Speaker 1: not exactly sure, but I saw where.
- 31:37Speaker 5: He made the announcement this week. He's taking back over
- 31:39Speaker 5: defensive play calling.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Makes it a little easier when CD goes 17 grabs.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it's probably a good time to do it.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Yeah, probably.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Odell Beckham, by the way, signs with the Vikings. See
- 31:48Speaker 2: what he's able to do. And a new study out,
- 31:51Speaker 2: watching all the game tapes from the first four weeks
- 31:54Speaker 2: of the season, quarterbacks under center numbers way up. The
- 31:59Speaker 2: scheming and the way we're running offensive plays now, under
- 32:02Speaker 2: center more now than ever before in this era.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Brooks Alston brought this up on the show yesterday. If
- 32:09Speaker 1: you caught the second half of the next round yesterday,
- 32:11Speaker 1: if not, go back and watch the film guy on demand.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Very good. When Alabama lined up in the I formation
- 32:19Speaker 1: with Keelan Russell under center, I'm like, is this an
- 32:22Speaker 1: exotic formation now? You almost never see it. When they
- 32:26Speaker 1: lined up, I was like, wow. Yeah, you see it
- 32:28Speaker 1: all the time in the NFL. Oh, you do all
- 32:29Speaker 1: the time in the NFL. And that's something Klatt talked
- 32:32Speaker 1: about with us about what, it was either Klatt or
- 32:35Speaker 1: Brock Huard or maybe both about what Keelan Russell is
- 32:37Speaker 1: doing at Alabama, that he's running way more pro style
- 32:39Speaker 1: than you would imagine. Buddy, when they lined up at
- 32:42Speaker 1: I formation under center, I'm like, you almost never see
- 32:44Speaker 1: this in college anymore. It looks so strange. When we
- 32:47Speaker 1: come back, one coach in the SEC putting fake quotes
- 32:55Speaker 1: from this week's opponent up in his locker room. Who
- 32:59Speaker 1: do you think it is? See if you can guess
- 33:00Speaker 1: in the commercial break. This is the next round presented
- 33:03Speaker 1: by Hard Rock Bet on Sporting State.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Back with you on the next round. Charlie Potter, Charlie Potter.
- 33:10Speaker 2: is a senior writer for Bama Online on three sports.
- 33:13Speaker 2: He's been covering Alabama football and basketball since 2012. He
- 33:18Speaker 2: has an amazing story up, picture included. Several Alabama scout
- 33:23Speaker 2: teamers traveled to Starkville on their own this past weekend
- 33:27Speaker 2: to cheer from the stands. When Kalen DeBoer found out,
- 33:30Speaker 2: he made sure they were in the visiting locker room
- 33:32Speaker 2: to celebrate with the team after the game.
- 33:34Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Just the appreciation we had for those guys finding a
- 33:38Speaker 2: way to get there and doing their part, cheering in
- 33:40Speaker 2: the stands.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Photos included. Good story.
- 33:43Speaker 2: You can go read it on 3Sports. Charlie Potter with
- 33:47Speaker 2: that story there. Some final thoughts on college football. After
- 33:51Speaker 2: I remind you, our friends at Crockett Coffee can help

- 34:44Speaker 1: Okay, who do you think had fake quotes? In their
- 34:48Speaker 1: locker room this week.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I mean, look, Lane Hokie is one of the Hokiest
- 34:52Speaker 4: guys out there. So I'm going to go Lane Kiffin.
- 34:55Speaker 1: You call him Lane Hokie? Lane Hokie.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin.
- 34:58Speaker 1: It's got to be Lane Kiffin.
- 35:00Speaker 4: But, I mean, Kentucky, you have to do a lot
- 35:02Speaker 4: to get up for Kentucky.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Yeah. We are on a day where we have praised
- 35:07Speaker 1: Eli Drinkwitz. It does feel a little Drinkwitz, too. Yeah,
- 35:10Speaker 1: but I don't think we're going to do a story
- 35:13Speaker 1: about A player getting a heart transplant and.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Follow-up with his story.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I don't think Sark or Venables is going to do this.
- 35:20Speaker 4: I mean, there's nothing.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I mean, Kirby's got a little of this in him.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Kirby has done the old, they picked us to go
- 35:26Speaker 1: 7-5 before when nobody in the world ever.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Picks Georgia to go 7-5.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I think for sure this is Lane Kiffin or this
- 35:32Speaker 1: is Eli Drinkwitz.
- 35:33Speaker 2: It's 100% Lane Kiffin, Lance. Lane Kiffin for 500. Fake
- 35:38Speaker 2: quotes on the message boards in the locker room. It
- 35:43Speaker 2: has a picture of Kenny Menchie pointing like this and
- 35:48Speaker 2: saying LSU's defense hasn't seen anyone in blue like us
- 35:54Speaker 2: and our offensive line yet. So that is the quote
- 35:58Speaker 2: he has up in the locker room. Turns out Kenny
- 36:01Speaker 2: Menchie did not say this quote. Kentucky Sports Radio confirmed
- 36:04Speaker 2: it is a fabricated bulletin board material by Lane Kiffin.
- 36:08Speaker 2: There's the way it looks right there.
- 36:09Speaker 4: He's such a weird guy. I mean, you're the number
- 36:13Speaker 4: one total defense in the SEC right now. That's what
- 36:15Speaker 4: LSU's got coming into this game. They're a pretty massive
- 36:19Speaker 4: road favorite against a top 25 team. They're laying eight
- 36:22Speaker 4: and a half right here. If you've got to motivate
- 36:24Speaker 4: your guys to go into Kentucky after you've already got
- 36:27Speaker 4: a loss, what's going on here?
- 36:29Speaker 2: On his radio show last night, Will Stein was asked
- 36:32Speaker 2: about this. Will Stein of Kentucky. Coaches have been doing
- 36:36Speaker 2: crazy stuff for a long time in terms of getting
- 36:38Speaker 2: their team.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Ready to roll.
- 36:40Speaker 2: My guys are ready to roll because of the brotherhood
- 36:43Speaker 2: they have and the opportunity to play in front of
- 36:46Speaker 2: our fans, says Will Stein there.
- 36:50Speaker 1: So the quote, the made up quote is they haven't
- 36:53Speaker 1: seen an offense like ours yet. That's right. How far
- 36:56Speaker 1: off is the Kentucky offense from Ole Miss? Because Ole Miss,
- 36:58Speaker 1: that's the best offense LSU's seen, right?
- 37:00Speaker 4: Oh, far off.
- 37:01Speaker 1: You think it's that far off? I think so.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Look, Will Stein's done an incredible job. Minchie is playing
- 37:05Speaker 4: at a high level. You've got multiple backs that are
- 37:09Speaker 4: playing really well for Kentucky right now, but it's not
- 37:12Speaker 4: Ole Miss.
- 37:13Speaker 2: The official fake quote is, LSU's defense hasn't seen anyone
- 37:17Speaker 2: like us and our offensive line yet.
- 37:21Speaker 1: And it's a fake quote. So... On the heels of
- 37:24Speaker 1: the unfortunate passing of Dennis Franchoni, this goes back to
- 37:29Speaker 1: that fake locker room speech that Nick Saban made. You
- 37:33Speaker 1: remember this? Well, it wasn't fake. Nick Saban really said it.
- 37:36Speaker 1: He said some fabricated things. That's what everybody says. How
- 37:39Speaker 1: do you know Nick Saban really said it? I thought
- 37:41Speaker 1: there was video of him saying it. No, no, no, no.
- 37:43Speaker 1: This was all message board. This was all printed. See,
- 37:46Speaker 1: that's how these stories go. Then you believe it. Years later,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you're like, no, there was video of it, Brown. Keep
- 37:52Speaker 1: in mind, this is only... There was a video after the... Which,
- 37:55Speaker 1: by the way, I think was however many years... It
- 37:57Speaker 1: was the Hills of the Bluegrass Miracle. Bluegrass Miracle. And....
- 38:02Speaker 2: And he wasn't in the locker room at Kentucky now saying,
- 38:04Speaker 2: you've got to come back down next week.
- 38:06Speaker 1: We're playing those guys. They give them Corvettes and whatever
- 38:08Speaker 1: it was. I don't think there was a video of it.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I'm going to say there was no video of it.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I think it got shared on message boards, and it
- 38:14Speaker 1: became the gospel after that. Yeah, back to your question
- 38:16Speaker 1: of Ole Miss, Kentucky. I've just got to throw this
- 38:18Speaker 1: out real quick. They're close total yards.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Ole Miss has got a little bit more, and Ole
- 38:23Speaker 4: Miss has got about a point more per game in scoring.
- 38:26Speaker 4: But Ole Miss hasn't been whole. They haven't had Kiwan Lacy.
- 38:30Speaker 4: And Trinidad Chambliss is as good as Mitchie's been.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Speaking of Kiwan Lacy, he's back this week. Some other
- 38:37Speaker 2: injury news around college football. Tell me if it's important
- 38:41Speaker 2: or not. South Carolina does not have Dylan Stewart listed
- 38:45Speaker 2: on their availability report, which means he's not out. That
- 38:48Speaker 2: means he's ready to go and ready to play. Dylan
- 38:51Speaker 2: Stewart's return for South Carolina this week against Florida does what?
- 38:55Speaker 1: Well, if Jaden Ball can't run the football, he couldn't
- 38:57Speaker 1: run it last week. I mean, what, Ball had 12 carries,
- 39:01Speaker 1: 13 yards? And then you get Philo back there. Dylan
- 39:04Speaker 1: Stewart is a disruptor.
- 39:05Speaker 4: So, you know, if Florida struggles running the football, he
- 39:08Speaker 4: could be a major factor in this game.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I mean, don't you think? Well, hang on, let me
- 39:13Speaker 1: back up. Wouldn't you hope he comes back a different player? Like,
- 39:18Speaker 1: I mean, it wasn't just the punch he threw in
- 39:21Speaker 1: the Alabama game. It was the fact that he wasn't
- 39:24Speaker 1: really playing a great game. Alabama minimized him in that game.
- 39:28Speaker 4: The entire look on the field, off the field. He
- 39:32Speaker 4: has had a couple of weeks now to hear. A
- 39:34Speaker 4: million analysts say you lost millions of dollars by your behavior.
- 39:38Speaker 4: So now what do you.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Got to do?
- 39:39Speaker 4: You got to go out and you got to rehab
- 39:41Speaker 4: the image.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Get those millions back. You got to find a way
- 39:44Speaker 1: to do it.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Do it with your own field play. Say the right things.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Do the right things.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I would say if I'm an NFL scout and I'm
- 39:50Speaker 1: interested in Dylan Stewart, there is so much negative right
- 39:53Speaker 1: now about him. I watch this game, and this is
- 39:55Speaker 1: not his best effort game. I'm not saying he's got
- 39:57Speaker 1: to have the most sacks he ever had. But his
- 39:59Speaker 1: motor better be running. His motor better be full speed
- 40:02Speaker 1: the whole time. If I watch that tape and I
- 40:04Speaker 1: don't see the best effort game Dylan Stewart has ever played,
- 40:07Speaker 1: I take him off my draft boards, don't even consider it.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm really fascinated to see how South Carolina plays.
- 40:12Speaker 4: I mean, Florida too. I mean, Florida coming up, I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 4: they got dick whipped. I mean, they got destroyed in Columbia,
- 40:18Speaker 4: and now you've got a team that you're a double-digit favorite.
- 40:21Speaker 4: This thing dropped from 13.5 to 10.5. But how do
- 40:24Speaker 4: they come out and respond? And on the other side,
- 40:26Speaker 4: South Carolina got their hearts ripped out again.
- 40:28Speaker 2: So tell me what you just said that 13 and
- 40:30Speaker 2: a half to 10 and a half. Because I was
- 40:32Speaker 2: doing a podcast last night with some guys from Georgia.
- 40:37Speaker 2: And they have you make picks at the end. They
- 40:39Speaker 2: say just straight up picks, but I'll give you the spread.
- 40:42Speaker 2: And they were like 11 and a half. And I
- 40:44Speaker 2: was like, I think it's 13 and a half. They're like, no,
- 40:46Speaker 2: it's dropped. Dude, now it's dropped another point.
- 40:48Speaker 4: It's 10.5?
- 40:48Speaker 1: Yeah. What does that tell you?
- 40:51Speaker 4: I think South Carolina's a pretty good play. I would
- 40:53Speaker 4: stay away from it because I don't know how they respond. Again,
- 40:56Speaker 4: does South Carolina finally tap out? You know, we don't
- 41:00Speaker 4: win these games. We've lost eight straight in the SEC.
- 41:02Speaker 4: We've lost 10 of our last 11 in the SEC.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Even if we get out to a big lead, we're
- 41:06Speaker 4: probably going to find a way to lose this game.
- 41:08Speaker 4: I don't know where they are mentally. I probably would
- 41:10Speaker 4: stay away from this game altogether. But I do think
- 41:12Speaker 4: there's some sharp money backing the Gamecocks right now.
- 41:15Speaker 1: And some question about Vernell Brown, the receiver.
- 41:17Speaker 4: He's supposed to be back, though.
- 41:18Speaker 2: He's supposed to play coming up this weekend. With Kiwan
- 41:21Speaker 2: Lacy back for Ole Miss. at Vandy, but obviously that's
- 41:25Speaker 2: important for their offense.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Very important for the offense. I mean, that is, I
- 41:31Speaker 4: don't want to say it's the most important one-two punch
- 41:33Speaker 4: in college football, but boy, without Lacey, the offense looks
- 41:37Speaker 4: so different.
- 41:38Speaker 1: A lot of pressure on Trinidad at that point. There is,
- 41:40Speaker 1: but I mean, it was, I think it was Brooks
- 41:43Speaker 1: Hulst to the film guy again yesterday that was like,
- 41:45Speaker 1: that offense is just so different without Keewan Lacey. I mean,
- 41:48Speaker 1: it is just not the same offense that you see.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Forrest, how quickly can you give me an Ole Miss,
- 41:52Speaker 2: I know very quickly is the answer, an Ole Miss
- 41:55Speaker 2: schedule here? Because they've been out of sight, out of mind.
- 41:58Speaker 1: They have. Because they lost, and then they were bye week.
- 42:02Speaker 4: Boy, they've got a tough schedule coming up.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Vanderbilt, and then it's Missouri, Texas, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, Wofford,
- 42:09Speaker 2: and Mississippi State. Now Mississippi State ending looks different now.
- 42:13Speaker 1: If you look at that through a lens of you've
- 42:15Speaker 1: got to beat 10-2 to be in the playoffs, that
- 42:17Speaker 1: is extremely difficult.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Yeah, because they're going to be underdogs in only two
- 42:20Speaker 4: of those games.
- 42:21Speaker 1: But to make the playoffs, they've either got to beat
- 42:23Speaker 1: Texas or Georgia.
- 42:25Speaker 4: But I will include this weekend. I think this weekend
- 42:28Speaker 4: is losable.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Wow.
- 42:29Speaker 4: I really do.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I don't think they'll lose it. But I think it's losable.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Missouri's definitely losable at Texas, Georgia, at Oklahoma, Mississippi State.
- 42:38Speaker 4: I'm going to skip over Auburn.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I mean, to make the playoff, I mean, what do
- 42:41Speaker 1: you guys think they've got to be tending to to
- 42:43Speaker 1: be in the playoffs, bare minimums? To make the playoffs now,
- 42:46Speaker 1: you've got to win at Texas or Oklahoma or beat
- 42:49Speaker 1: Georgia at home. You've got to do two of those three.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Not just one of them. You've got to do two
- 42:53Speaker 1: of those three. You've got to beat Georgia at home.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Win at Texas, win at Oklahoma, two of those three.
- 42:58Speaker 1: I mean, that is really, really difficult.
- 43:00Speaker 2: And I thought, do you save Kiwan this weekend to
- 43:05Speaker 2: have him healthier when you start to stretch with Missouri-Texas?
- 43:08Speaker 1: But you're telling me it's a.
- 43:10Speaker 2: It's a losable game in Nashville, so you can't if
- 43:12Speaker 2: you're Pete Golding.
- 43:13Speaker 4: This is where it's difficult because Vanderbilt's coming off 24-point loss,
- 43:17Speaker 4: and that's like their biggest loss in forever. Vanderbilt's been
- 43:20Speaker 4: so good over the last couple of years. I don't
- 43:21Speaker 4: think this Vanderbilt addition is what we saw in 24
- 43:24Speaker 4: and 25. I still think they're really, really competitive. This
- 43:28Speaker 4: is almost double digits here. I think they're going to survive.
- 43:32Speaker 4: They probably would survive without Kiwan, but it still is
- 43:35Speaker 4: a losable game.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Let me tell you this. I guarantee you any Ole
- 43:39Speaker 1: Miss fan would tell you this. The very last thing
- 43:41Speaker 1: I would want to do as an Ole Miss fan
- 43:43Speaker 1: is be a two-loss team hosting state and having to
- 43:46Speaker 1: win that game to make it to the college football playoffs.
- 43:49Speaker 4: It almost reminds me of first-year Elko in Texas. Now,
- 43:52Speaker 4: Texas survived that game.
- 43:53Speaker 1: They did.
- 43:54Speaker 4: But that was set up perfectly for Elko and A &
- 43:57Speaker 4: M to completely ruin their season. And if you get
- 44:00Speaker 4: a healthy Kamario Taylor, and that's what we want to see, a.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Healthy Trinidad Jamless Kamario Taylor. No doubt. Healthy Kamario Taylor, fluff.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Bothwell back healthy. Keewan Lacey back healthy. How good a
- 44:09Speaker 1: game would that be? But the last thing I want
- 44:10Speaker 1: to do is be, even though they're hosting it, I
- 44:13Speaker 1: just don't want to play my rival having to have
- 44:14Speaker 1: that win and one of my better teams my rivals had.
- 44:17Speaker 2: In Red River, Oklahoma's offensive tackle, Michael Fasusi, is doubtful
- 44:23Speaker 2: for the game, which is a problem on their offensive
- 44:25Speaker 2: line where they're struggling offensively. Around the country, you've already
- 44:28Speaker 2: mentioned huge, exit from LJ Martin, who's out for BYU.
- 44:32Speaker 2: That is a game changer for them.
- 44:34Speaker 1: It is.
- 44:34Speaker 4: I mean, Bear Bachmeier is just going to have to
- 44:36Speaker 4: put a lot on his back. And that defense is
- 44:38Speaker 4: going to continue to have to play at a high level.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Dante Moore out officially now. They're going to give him
- 44:44Speaker 1: another week. Concussion protocol. Raiola starts. Can he be as
- 44:48Speaker 1: good as he was those final three quarters?
- 44:50Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, that was amazing. Really didn't
- 44:52Speaker 4: have time to think. Went in and just played his
- 44:54Speaker 4: ass off immediately. Now he's had time to absorb it
- 44:57Speaker 4: and think about he's going to be the starting quarterback.
- 44:59Speaker 4: But the good news is you had a full season
- 45:01Speaker 4: last year in Lincoln, and this guy's got a lot
- 45:03Speaker 4: of experience. And I think it's a little bit of
- 45:06Speaker 4: a drop-off, but not much of a drop-off from Dante Moore.
- 45:09Speaker 2: And Keane Holtz, the quarterback for Louisville, is probable now.
- 45:12Speaker 2: He's come down from questionable to probable. he's likely going
- 45:15Speaker 2: to play in what has become a big game in
- 45:17Speaker 2: the ACC race for Florida State and Louisville.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Yeah, this Louisville team, I think, is still good. They've
- 45:22Speaker 4: got eight losses since the beginning of last year, seven
- 45:26Speaker 4: of those losses by three or fewer. I mean, they've
- 45:28Speaker 4: been on the brink of being a playoff team. They
- 45:31Speaker 4: just can't win these close games, and I don't know
- 45:34Speaker 4: if this game's going to be close because Florida State,
- 45:36Speaker 4: they've been incredible in the red zone, 21 of 21
- 45:38Speaker 4: in the red zone, but they haven't had a road
- 45:41Speaker 4: win since November of 23. We talked about this yesterday,
- 45:44Speaker 4: and It's a little different going from Tallahassee to where
- 45:48Speaker 4: they're going to be playing Louisville, a desperate Louisville team.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Florida State's still a one-loss ACC team. Their only losses
- 45:54Speaker 1: are Bama and SMU, right?
- 45:56Speaker 4: Right.
- 45:57Speaker 1: So they are right in that ACC hunt. It's going
- 46:00Speaker 1: to be a one-loss or two-loss team that plays Miami
- 46:02Speaker 1: at the end of this. Now, the problem for Florida
- 46:04Speaker 1: State is they've got to play Miami next week in
- 46:06Speaker 1: the regular season.
- 46:09Speaker 4: But look, if they go to Louisville and win this game, again,
- 46:12Speaker 4: their first win on the road since 2023... With the
- 46:15Speaker 4: one loss in the ACC, at least Norville can have
- 46:17Speaker 4: his guys believing.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Story time to end in the final two minutes of
- 46:21Speaker 2: the show here. Yesterday was the story from Yahoo Sports.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yesterday was 110 years since Georgia Tech beat Cumberland 220
- 46:32Speaker 2: to nothing. That's 32 touchdowns they scored in 55 minutes
- 46:38Speaker 2: of play. John Heisman was the coach. The part of
- 46:42Speaker 2: the story I didn't know. Maybe you guys knew this already.
- 46:45Speaker 2: that John Heisman was also Georgia Tech's baseball coach then.
- 46:50Speaker 4: I did know that he was a baseball coach. I
- 46:52Speaker 4: didn't know it was at the same time.
- 46:53Speaker 2: And the reason he ran up the score on Cumberland
- 46:57Speaker 2: 222-0 was because in the baseball season, Cumberland's baseball team
- 47:04Speaker 2: used minor league professional baseball players dressed in Cumberland jerseys
- 47:10Speaker 2: and beat Heisman's Georgia Tech team, wait for it, 22-0.
- 47:14Speaker 1: To nothing.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Oh, so he made a definite message. And he swore
- 47:16Speaker 2: that he'd make them pay. And when he had a
- 47:18Speaker 2: chance to make it 222 to nothing.
- 47:21Speaker 1: That's what he went out to do.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Damn, not only calling your shot, but calling 222 points
- 47:26Speaker 4: and cutting it off there.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I hope he was at 220 late in the game
- 47:29Speaker 1: and had to go for two to get into 222.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I hope he did victory formation his final three possessions.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Well, he did say 32 touchdowns in 55 minutes, so
- 47:39Speaker 2: they played another five minutes without them not scoring.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Without scoring. So I think there was significance in that
- 47:44Speaker 1: 220 to nothing. 22 to nothing with minor league players.
- 47:49Speaker 1: playing against his Georgia Tech baseball team and it pissed
- 47:51Speaker 1: him off so much that he went out 110 years ago.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I've never heard that part. I've always wondered how I
- 47:56Speaker 1: got there. Me either. That from Yahoo Sports yesterday.
- 47:59Speaker 4: All right.
- 48:00Speaker 2: That's it for the first half of the next round
- 48:02Speaker 2: here on Sporting State. The second half, scene two, whatever
- 48:06Speaker 2: we want to name it, coming up. Hope you guys
- 48:09Speaker 2: have a great day. Buck and Clay next.

- 48:13Speaker 1: watch it at your convenience at Next Round Live everywhere,
