- 1:33Speaker 1: The quest the side quest for the podcast on YouTube
- 1:37Speaker 1: is to reach ten thousand subscribers by the end of
- 1:41Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, and guess what y'all, we're knocking the
- 1:46Speaker 1: door of nine thousand, like literally, like it's only a
- 1:51Speaker 1: couple of hundred to get to nine thousand. So keep
- 1:55Speaker 1: enjoying the content, whether that's shorts, whether that's this weekly
- 1:58Speaker 1: news podcast, whether that specials like that Time and Hip
- 2:02Speaker 1: Hop with Tony from Into the Dome podcast, whether that's Tearless.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You know, I got a couple oo's in the bag,
- 2:10Speaker 1: or interviews, which I'm trying to see what my next
- 2:15Speaker 1: interview should be. And if you missed my interviews and
- 2:18Speaker 1: you're like, WHOA, wait a minute, you do interviews now, relax.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'm doing something maybe five tops this year. But I've
- 2:26Speaker 1: already done two, one with the author of the Daylight
- 2:30Speaker 1: Soul Book that you should check out as a fan
- 2:33Speaker 1: regardless of what Daylight sould says, It's not what you
- 2:36Speaker 1: think Marcus J. Moore. And then most recently, I did
- 2:40Speaker 1: an interview with I Am God Dope, extremely dope rapper
- 2:45Speaker 1: out of Chicago that you should definitely check out. But
- 2:48Speaker 1: watch the interview first. I'll leave you know, like one
- 2:51Speaker 1: of the cards to pop up on the screen so
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know, oh, that's way I go to watch that.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So there's that, but we got a lot to do today,
- 2:59Speaker 1: so let's get ready into the business of things. Shout
- 3:02Speaker 1: out to hip hopdx dot com, All hip Hop dot
- 3:06Speaker 1: Com and Brochure for Heads in a couple of places
- 3:09Speaker 1: where I'm getting my stories from. Let's get right to
- 3:11Speaker 1: the business though. So recently the nominations for the twenty
- 3:19Speaker 1: twenty five BT Awards came out. I haven't had a
- 3:25Speaker 1: chance to look at them, so if you're not familiar
- 3:28Speaker 1: with who was nominated for what category by zai blah,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you're finding out when I'm finding out, and that's the
- 3:35Speaker 1: fun part. So let's react to that. Shout out to
- 3:39Speaker 1: hip Hop dx dot com. This is kind of where
- 3:41Speaker 1: I'm getting some of these from. Let's look at the
- 3:44Speaker 1: categories and I'll try to stick to the hip hop
- 3:48Speaker 1: categories obviously, But Album of the Year, some Sexy Songs
- 3:54Speaker 1: for You, Drake, and Party next Door Wow. Album of
- 3:58Speaker 1: the Year. I like a couple of tunes on there,
- 4:02Speaker 1: but I don't know about that, but hey whatever, Chris Brown,
- 4:06Speaker 1: eleven and eleven Deluxe, Doche Alligator Bites, Never Heal, Beyonce, Cowboy, Carter, Glorilla, Glorious,
- 4:14Speaker 1: Kendrick Lamar, gn X, hurry up tomorrow the weekend. We
- 4:18Speaker 1: don't trust you, Future and Metro. My pick for a
- 4:23Speaker 1: winner in that category would be and there's no bias,
- 4:27Speaker 1: but just would be gn X. That album's on five, okay,
- 4:31Speaker 1: like Lutha has been at the top of the charts forever.
- 4:36Speaker 1: That album has some legs. Definitely, and you know, obviously
- 4:40Speaker 1: it could be Beyonce, you know who knows, but I
- 4:45Speaker 1: think it may be GNX. We'll see what other categories
- 4:50Speaker 1: here were skipping past the R and B and popp
- 4:52Speaker 1: and all of that, here's one that's interesting. Best Group
- 4:57Speaker 1: forty one, Common and Pete Rock, Breaking Party next Door, Flow,
- 5:03Speaker 1: Future and Metro, Booming, Jah Quiz and daj Loaf, Larry June,
- 5:08Speaker 1: two Chains In, Alchemists, Wow, Maverick City Music. Out of those,
- 5:14Speaker 1: like best Group, I think Metro and Future may walk
- 5:21Speaker 1: away with this. I'd be surprised if it's Draking Party
- 5:25Speaker 1: next Door, but I think Future and Metro because remember
- 5:29Speaker 1: they put out two albums last year, so beef continues.
- 5:36Speaker 1: But we'll talk about that later. Let's see best collaboration.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Let's get best female hip hop artists. Now this is
- 5:44Speaker 1: crazy because there's a lot of nominations here, but Cardi
- 5:47Speaker 1: b Doshi, Dosha, Cat Glowriller, Lotto, Meghan the Stallion, Nicki
- 5:54Speaker 1: Minaj's Rhapsody, and Sexy Red. I think this comes down
- 5:58Speaker 1: to do and probably Glorilla, to be honest, and I
- 6:07Speaker 1: wouldn't be mad at it. Well, I won't say I
- 6:11Speaker 1: wouldn't be mad, right, but if I'm looking at what's here,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I think Glorilla would get it because she had a
- 6:20Speaker 1: lot of traction. I think though she has a lot
- 6:22Speaker 1: of traction also as an artist right now, but Glorilla
- 6:27Speaker 1: probably has a little bit more wait in the game.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And I just don't know if the BET Awards are
- 6:32Speaker 1: gonna do what the Grammys did. They may, you know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but we'll see best Male hip Hop Artists A big
- 6:43Speaker 1: Big X, the Plug, boss Man, d Lo burn A
- 6:47Speaker 1: boy Burna boys not hip hop. Let's just keep it funky.
- 6:51Speaker 1: He's not hip hop. Drake Future Wait, damn, they got
- 6:58Speaker 1: Drake up here with hip hoppy. We'll talk about it later.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Future Kendrick Lamar. He got Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne. I
- 7:09Speaker 1: think my heart work. Let Lil Wayne down, Like, what
- 7:12Speaker 1: did he drop? What do he dropped? Singles that y'all
- 7:17Speaker 1: didn't pay attention to h and Tyler Theod created. That's
- 7:22Speaker 1: a good one. I think best male hip Hop Artist
- 7:27Speaker 1: it gotta go to Kendrick because of everything he did
- 7:31Speaker 1: last year. But if they chose Tyler the Creator, I
- 7:35Speaker 1: wouldn't be mad because he put out a very dope
- 7:38Speaker 1: project video of the year Real Quick, Key Glock three
- 7:43Speaker 1: Am and Tokyo a bar so on Tipsy Shaboozi After
- 7:49Speaker 1: Hours Denials the River Dooshe After Hours is Kalani. By
- 7:54Speaker 1: the way, Family Madness video Drake Wow feels like BT
- 7:59Speaker 1: doing something damage control, not like us. Kendrick Timeless The
- 8:04Speaker 1: Weekend featuring Playboy Cardi, tight Ish Future, Metro Boom and
- 8:09Speaker 1: Travis Scott Playboy Cardi. I didn't know they had a
- 8:12Speaker 1: video for that. Some of these videos I didn't see,
- 8:14Speaker 1: so it's hard to say who should win. I think
- 8:19Speaker 1: Doc's video was very creative and dope, not like us.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It was a very dope video for that song. It
- 8:26Speaker 1: just fit and it just brought things up another notch.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Family Matters it shouldn't even be here only because remember
- 8:35Speaker 1: and we're going to talk about this, but Family Matters
- 8:39Speaker 1: dropped with a video and literally like twenty thirty minutes later,
- 8:44Speaker 1: Kenjick dropped Meet the Grams and it smothered that song,
- 8:48Speaker 1: like it just did. It smothered it. As far as
- 8:51Speaker 1: the competition, what people felt about it, people don't even
- 8:55Speaker 1: have time to absorb what Drake did with family matters
- 9:01Speaker 1: before Hendrick had a rebuttal, so I can't see, like
- 9:06Speaker 1: even video wise, like I can see what he was
- 9:09Speaker 1: going for, but it was It could have been anything. Honestly,
- 9:12Speaker 1: it could have been not a disrecord and it just
- 9:15Speaker 1: would have been an okay video. Some of these other
- 9:18Speaker 1: videos are like there's some work and some thought like
- 9:22Speaker 1: THO She's video, Like there's some real conceptual things going on.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Wis you know? Some some videos tend to just be
- 9:30Speaker 1: stunting and stuff like that. So let's see it was
- 9:36Speaker 1: that it for hip hop, BT movies, actors, actress, young star, Yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I think that was it. So these categories are mostly trash.
- 9:53Speaker 1: The BT Awards I don't watch it. And it's not
- 9:56Speaker 1: just the BT Awards. I don't watch no awards shows.
- 9:59Speaker 1: There are two much a commitment nowadays for there to
- 10:03Speaker 1: be one or two great performances, which isn't the worst
- 10:07Speaker 1: thing in the world. But if you're talking about three
- 10:10Speaker 1: hour broadcast just to see one performance and see people
- 10:15Speaker 1: win awards, like you know, having like burn a boy
- 10:18Speaker 1: in a category where he's clearly not hip hop. It's
- 10:21Speaker 1: just not worse to investing the time, especially when you
- 10:27Speaker 1: can do what I'm doing right now, right like, oh,
- 10:30Speaker 1: let's see who's nominated boom. When it happens, you go
- 10:33Speaker 1: and look to see who won. Right, you don't have
- 10:35Speaker 1: to watch the ward show, and then if there was
- 10:38Speaker 1: a dupe performance or two, it will be online. It
- 10:41Speaker 1: will be clipped for you to check it out, so
- 10:44Speaker 1: you don't have to sit through three hours just to
- 10:46Speaker 1: watch a great performance. That's just the world we live in.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I stop watching ward shows way before you could get
- 10:53Speaker 1: those kinds of things like that. I wonder if they're
- 10:57Speaker 1: gonna do the BT Cipher, because they don't do the
- 11:01Speaker 1: BT Hip Hop awardsm or I don't think so. So
- 11:04Speaker 1: I'm wondering if the Cipher will happen. But who knows
- 11:09Speaker 1: who'll be in it, who knows whether it'll be good
- 11:11Speaker 1: or not. But there you have it. Those are the
- 11:13Speaker 1: nominations for the twenty twenty five BEET Awards. Let me
- 11:17Speaker 1: know in the comments. Do you watch do you care
- 11:20Speaker 1: about the categories? Is it more interesting because the battle
- 11:23Speaker 1: took place and you want to see if certain someone
- 11:26Speaker 1: gets more trophies for this and this is Drake. Leave
- 11:31Speaker 1: your comments in a comments section below. Next up, Andre
- 11:37Speaker 1: three thousand dropped another new album. But unfortunately for you
- 11:44Speaker 1: who had your hopes up, it's not what you think.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It's not another flute album. It's not an outcast album.
- 11:52Speaker 1: It's it's essentially an EP. Seven songs, sixteen minutes in length,
- 12:00Speaker 1: title seven piano sketches, right, seven piano sketches And if
- 12:06Speaker 1: you don't know, and you could see the image in
- 12:09Speaker 1: his video on YouTube, he was dressed that way at
- 12:14Speaker 1: the men Gap with a piano strapped to his back.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I'm assuming it was hollow because Lord had Mercy take
- 12:23Speaker 1: that piano off that man's back before he hurt hisself. Okay,
- 12:27Speaker 1: but the project, which is also labeled alternative similar to
- 12:33Speaker 1: his flute album, Well, now he has a piano album.
- 12:38Speaker 1: There's no bars, there's no singing, it's just piano and
- 12:43Speaker 1: the titles are just as crazy as they were when
- 12:49Speaker 1: he released the flute album. I'll go over a few
- 12:51Speaker 1: for you right, bluffing in the snow. That's the name
- 12:56Speaker 1: of it of one track, and then one day you'll
- 13:01Speaker 1: Track three is called when you're an in and you
- 13:04Speaker 1: wake up in an awesome mood about to drive your
- 13:07Speaker 1: son to school, only to discover that you left the
- 13:10Speaker 1: lights on in the car last night, so your battery
- 13:13Speaker 1: is drained. That is the name of track three. And
- 13:18Speaker 1: then there are other shorter names like hotel, lobby, pianos,
- 13:21Speaker 1: blueberry mansions, blah blah blah blah blah. Now this is
- 13:26Speaker 1: piano solo music, meaning there's no drums, there's no you know,
- 13:31Speaker 1: somebody playing a harp. Also, this is just really one
- 13:36Speaker 1: hundred three thousand on the piano. Now, as someone who
- 13:42Speaker 1: likes jazz and does like some alternative music, I'm not
- 13:47Speaker 1: appalled by him dropping something like this. But what I
- 13:51Speaker 1: don't like is this is worse than flute album. At
- 13:56Speaker 1: least the flute album felt more like experimental, atmospheric and
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know what was ambiance or whatever it was. You
- 14:05Speaker 1: either take it or you don't. Write, Like, if you
- 14:07Speaker 1: want something peaceful playing while you do yoga, the flute
- 14:11Speaker 1: album might be able something you could rock with. There
- 14:13Speaker 1: are people who are better at flute than him, obviously,
- 14:18Speaker 1: but at least there was a case to be made
- 14:20Speaker 1: for like the audience that would like it. I can't
- 14:24Speaker 1: see anybody like in this joint because it sounds like
- 14:29Speaker 1: he's trying to figure out the piano, not that he
- 14:34Speaker 1: knows how to play, and he's playing these tunes and
- 14:37Speaker 1: you're getting different types of solos and blah blah blah,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but more so like he's practicing and he's not at
- 14:46Speaker 1: a master's level of practicing. Like I'll give you an
- 14:50Speaker 1: example before we talk about the lack of a hip
- 14:53Speaker 1: hop album. There was a Prince album that came out
- 14:57Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen, you know, after he pass called Piano
- 15:02Speaker 1: in a Microphone nineteen eighty three, and essentially it's Prince
- 15:09Speaker 1: kind of practicing tunes, you know, and it's not solo pianos.
- 15:15Speaker 1: But when you hear this versus what you're hearing from
- 15:20Speaker 1: Three Stacks, you're like, this Prince thing is good enough
- 15:24Speaker 1: to be one of the good albums in his catalog
- 15:27Speaker 1: and this is him practicing. Now, sure it's unfair to
- 15:32Speaker 1: the compared the two, but I think the release of
- 15:36Speaker 1: this Andreie Three Stacks album, even as an alternative album
- 15:40Speaker 1: or jazz if you want to try to go there.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think it's I don't know. I don't know if
- 15:47Speaker 1: his intentions are this, but it feels like you're taking
- 15:50Speaker 1: advantage of your popularity where you can do anything and
- 15:56Speaker 1: people will like it. Now, I don't I think that's
- 16:00Speaker 1: his intention because, like with the Flute album, I listened
- 16:03Speaker 1: to an interview he did with MPR, and he's really
- 16:06Speaker 1: just about expressing himself and he just wants to share
- 16:10Speaker 1: what he's doing. There's nothing wrong with that. There are
- 16:14Speaker 1: plenty of people who share stuff that's even way worse
- 16:17Speaker 1: than that with the public. But but this is the
- 16:22Speaker 1: thing that I think he's a little naive too, a
- 16:26Speaker 1: little bit. Sure he's aware, but I feel like the
- 16:31Speaker 1: way he's going about is a little bit naive to
- 16:33Speaker 1: it now, releasing this album, matching it up with being
- 16:37Speaker 1: at the mech Gala, and I guess the piano what
- 16:40Speaker 1: you're playing on the PM is kind of inspired by
- 16:43Speaker 1: the whole thing. It's a great marketing idea, but an
- 16:47Speaker 1: execution it's garbage, okay. And what I was saying about
- 16:53Speaker 1: like him kind of knowing what he's doing, they're leveraging
- 16:57Speaker 1: his celebrity and where does his celebrity come from? Hip
- 17:01Speaker 1: hop and three three thousand and one of the greatest rappers,
- 17:04Speaker 1: a part of one of the greatest rap groups of
- 17:07Speaker 1: all time in Outcats. You're leveraging that celebrity because regardless
- 17:12Speaker 1: if it's not an album for me or someone who
- 17:15Speaker 1: wants three stacks on the hip hop side, we're going
- 17:20Speaker 1: to pay attention to it because of who you are.
- 17:24Speaker 1: That's just it. There are people who put out alternative
- 17:27Speaker 1: albums who don't have that base of people who are
- 17:32Speaker 1: at least willing to look at it, press play whatever
- 17:36Speaker 1: because of who you are, the name you created for yourself.
- 17:41Speaker 1: So am I mad at him releasing this? Not really,
- 17:44Speaker 1: he can release another one playing the drums. I don't care.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I feel like artists should be able and be allowed
- 17:51Speaker 1: to express themselves in whatever way they choose to. It
- 17:55Speaker 1: doesn't mean we have to like it, right, doesn't mean
- 17:59Speaker 1: you have to automatically like it because you like Outcasts,
- 18:03Speaker 1: because this is nothing like Outcasts at all. It's nothing
- 18:07Speaker 1: like Outcasts at all. But I hope he's kind of
- 18:15Speaker 1: what's the term in wrestling, It's a work, right, That's
- 18:21Speaker 1: what it's called work? When we're gonna make you believe
- 18:25Speaker 1: in his case that this is where he is. He's
- 18:28Speaker 1: playing instruments, he's releasing alternative albums, and that's where he
- 18:33Speaker 1: is in his career, and he doesn't feel the need
- 18:36Speaker 1: to rap because he doesn't necessarily know what he would
- 18:41Speaker 1: be saying of significance at his age, which I don't
- 18:45Speaker 1: believe him. I believe that we will at least get
- 18:52Speaker 1: one more project from Outcasts, not a solo Andree album,
- 18:57Speaker 1: one more album at least from Olcas Cast. Maybe it's
- 19:02Speaker 1: a full on album. Maybe it's a big boy album.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And you know, Andre is featured on a number of songs,
- 19:09Speaker 1: but not enough I guess to call it an Outcast album.
- 19:12Speaker 1: But I feel like there's still hip hop that he
- 19:16Speaker 1: may be like hiding from us and distracting us with
- 19:20Speaker 1: pianos and boots and stuff, you know, which is crazy.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It sounds like, you know, like you're playing Zelda some
- 19:26Speaker 1: crazy you know, RBG or whatever on a PlayStation, so
- 19:31Speaker 1: on Nintendo. I know, I know Zelda's Nintendo. So I
- 19:36Speaker 1: don't know if you are an Andre three thousand fan
- 19:40Speaker 1: and you liked the Flute album because he was trying
- 19:43Speaker 1: something different check out this piano joint. I gotta tell you.
- 19:49Speaker 1: For me, I didn't even I couldn't even get through it, fam,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I can't. I was just like, this is just not
- 19:55Speaker 1: good piano playing period, Like what is this? Is it
- 20:01Speaker 1: something for somebody to buy or or stream? Like, well,
- 20:06Speaker 1: maybe streaming is fine, but this should not be for
- 20:09Speaker 1: purchase at all, because it's not good all right. And lastly,
- 20:15Speaker 1: so recently we hit the one year mark for Drake
- 20:25Speaker 1: versus Kendrick, Kendrick versus Drake, whatever way you want to
- 20:28Speaker 1: go with it, and obviously everybody's going over the different songs.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You know, hey, it is the first anniversary of push Ups,
- 20:37Speaker 1: is the first anniversary of Euphoria's first aniverse, like all
- 20:42Speaker 1: the songs, right except for Taylor Ma right, because we
- 20:47Speaker 1: know that AI garbage got pulled, and you know, it
- 20:51Speaker 1: was like it was stupid tailor me was just not
- 20:55Speaker 1: the greatest idea, especially for someone who was against people
- 21:01Speaker 1: using AI and his voice, you know, go ahead, you know,
- 21:06Speaker 1: talking about dre him going ahead and using Tupac's voice
- 21:11Speaker 1: and Snoop's voice and without permission. It was just a misstep.
- 21:17Speaker 1: But nevertheless, a lot of people talked about this battle
- 21:20Speaker 1: year later, some people even said stuff who really won?
- 21:24Speaker 1: Like do you really have to ask that question? Like
- 21:27Speaker 1: this kind of thing. I don't like, Like, don't put
- 21:30Speaker 1: it in the air that it was up for questions
- 21:33Speaker 1: because we know who won, because they's still winning. And
- 21:38Speaker 1: one of those guys, loser has a lawsuit because of
- 21:44Speaker 1: the Battle Right, and he contradicts himself within the lawsuit.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So just reflecting on that whole time in hip hop,
- 21:56Speaker 1: I thought it was amazing because it was a hip
- 22:00Speaker 1: pop battle on a whole nother level as far as
- 22:04Speaker 1: where it went right, only talking about more recent battles
- 22:09Speaker 1: and Drake battles we got, we got tip r hat
- 22:12Speaker 1: to Drake. He doesn't He never had to battle any
- 22:15Speaker 1: of these guys. Push your Tea, meet Mill Kendrick. He
- 22:19Speaker 1: never liked. I'm more popular than y'all, I'm getting more money.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I'm just going to do that and ignore you. Trust me,
- 22:25Speaker 1: The ignoring part is way more effective than engaging, because,
- 22:31Speaker 1: like Drake found out, you risk not only losing, but
- 22:37Speaker 1: having it impact your success, which it has. Don't believe
- 22:43Speaker 1: in one second that Drake is the same post Battle Right.
- 22:48Speaker 1: He's not completely off the planet Earth. Obviously dropped an
- 22:52Speaker 1: album and the Nokia singles doing well, and there's certain
- 22:56Speaker 1: songs that people like, there's certain songs I like off
- 22:58Speaker 1: of it. But every time he opened his mouth in
- 23:02Speaker 1: one of these records, you can't help but to think
- 23:04Speaker 1: about this battle. Now, the battle for those who don't
- 23:09Speaker 1: know or don't have a lot of knowledge about how
- 23:13Speaker 1: it went down. And you know, how'd you come to
- 23:16Speaker 1: the conclusion that Drake lost the battle. We did a
- 23:19Speaker 1: whole video of that recapping it. That'll be at the
- 23:22Speaker 1: end of the video that just recaps what happened. And
- 23:26Speaker 1: this we did recorded that video after not like us dropped.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I know you know that, okay, But a year later,
- 23:38Speaker 1: is it the greatest hip hop battle of all time?
- 23:44Speaker 1: I think it might be. And when I say that,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying Drake and Kendrick are better rappers than
- 23:53Speaker 1: aras One or Nas jay Z or Ice Cube in
- 23:57Speaker 1: his moment and obviously what I'm saying, and you have
- 24:00Speaker 1: to look at those battles in the context of that time. Right.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Sometimes it was just a quick back and forth you
- 24:11Speaker 1: picked the winner, that was it, right, and typically a
- 24:14Speaker 1: song decided when the battle was over. So, for example,
- 24:20Speaker 1: kr us one and mc shan. There were South Bronx,
- 24:26Speaker 1: there was Kill That Noise by Shann, there was South
- 24:28Speaker 1: Bronx by BDP, Kill That Noise by Shan, and then
- 24:33Speaker 1: there was the Bridges Over. And when the Bridges Over dropped,
- 24:36Speaker 1: that was the end of the battle, right, ice Cube
- 24:40Speaker 1: and NWA. There were a couple of songs and skits
- 24:43Speaker 1: and Ben and Degarano and all of that, and then
- 24:45Speaker 1: Ice Cube dropped no Vassiline off the Death Certificate album.
- 24:49Speaker 1: The battle was over. After that, NWA never made another album. Okay,
- 24:56Speaker 1: this context, jay Z and os right a lot of
- 25:01Speaker 1: back and forth. Right first, it was kind of like freestyles.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Jay Z on the Summer's Jam stage acts Nazi the
- 25:07Speaker 1: one that would hold right. That was debate. Then Nas
- 25:10Speaker 1: does the stealmatic freestyle right, and then jay Z says, oh,
- 25:15Speaker 1: he responded, okay, now on the Blueprint album, let me
- 25:20Speaker 1: drop the full version of my song disting not only
- 25:25Speaker 1: mob Deep but also Nas and not saying names but
- 25:31Speaker 1: kind of hinting at the locks and all that in
- 25:33Speaker 1: the last verse. And it felt like it was over
- 25:38Speaker 1: for Nas to be honest when we heard the takeover.
- 25:41Speaker 1: But then Etha dropped and Etha felt like the end,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and it really became the end when jay Z tried
- 25:48Speaker 1: to respond too quickly and emotionally and people said that
- 25:54Speaker 1: song's whack nas is better. Battle over right, j He
- 26:00Speaker 1: didn't fall off as a result. You can even go
- 26:02Speaker 1: to fifty cent and jar Rule right. Regardless of what
- 26:07Speaker 1: you want to say. Jar Roul was hot, he was
- 26:10Speaker 1: on the radio. He was hot. You may not, like
- 26:12Speaker 1: some people may not have liked those records, but you
- 26:14Speaker 1: can't deny that level of success he was at before
- 26:17Speaker 1: fifty cent started dissinging, and then fifty cent blew up
- 26:21Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, jar Ru was like, everybody
- 26:25Speaker 1: just looked at jar Ru like he's always been whack,
- 26:28Speaker 1: and that kind of ended that battle. Also, you know
- 26:32Speaker 1: when you're hearing back down and skits and mixtape joints
- 26:35Speaker 1: like fifty just piled on and on and on the
- 26:39Speaker 1: same thing with Drake when he just meet mil Right,
- 26:44Speaker 1: meet Mill said some things. Drake dropped one song. We
- 26:47Speaker 1: don't even remember what that first dis record was, but
- 26:50Speaker 1: it was because we were waiting for Meek mill response
- 26:54Speaker 1: to drop. Drake dropped another track called back to Back
- 26:58Speaker 1: and that kind of ended it and Meek responded and
- 27:01Speaker 1: their response was dope, but it was way too late. Right,
- 27:06Speaker 1: So there are moments where you know the battle is over,
- 27:11Speaker 1: you know who won, and it's just it's universal. At
- 27:16Speaker 1: that point in time, Shortness and Drake fans that were
- 27:19Speaker 1: kind of like, naw, he got one more. But even
- 27:22Speaker 1: in his one more, he conceded because when not like
- 27:27Speaker 1: Us dropped, it felt like, oh, the battle's over. He
- 27:33Speaker 1: not only did Kendrick drop a song that was in
- 27:39Speaker 1: the new style like Euphoria right beatswitch, the sound of
- 27:44Speaker 1: the tracks, the flows he had, but then he turns
- 27:48Speaker 1: around and drops six' sixteen To, la which is just
- 27:51Speaker 1: straight you, know barrock boom back. Right Then drake drops
- 27:58Speaker 1: family matters AS i got of y'all eight ball corner pocket.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Pocket thirty minutes, Later kendrick is Dropping meet The, grams
- 28:09Speaker 1: which again stends to, beat breaking him down alchemists on the,
- 28:13Speaker 1: beat and it felt. Over it felt over with, that, like,
- 28:19Speaker 1: YO i think it's over Unless drake got another. One
- 28:23Speaker 1: this battles, over this dude rapping about his, family and
- 28:27Speaker 1: then before we can catch our breaths, again that saying
- 28:32Speaker 1: the next, day he drops not Like, us and it was, like,
- 28:38Speaker 1: oh it's it's. Over so When drake finally dropped which
- 28:43Speaker 1: was the response to Not Like, us the heart part,
- 28:46Speaker 1: six especially with the way he was talking at the
- 28:50Speaker 1: end as if he was just waving a white flag
- 28:54Speaker 1: and he ain't really want to do this and he
- 28:55Speaker 1: knew like it just he sound. Defeated but it didn't.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Matter he didn't have to drop that last record because
- 29:05Speaker 1: it was already. Over now why do we say was?
- 29:09Speaker 1: Over not just because of WHAT i mentioned about there
- 29:13Speaker 1: being moments when you know the battle is over based
- 29:16Speaker 1: off the, song but also this, battle which is WHY
- 29:21Speaker 1: i say it probably will go down as the greatest
- 29:24Speaker 1: battle in hip hop. History it's because it was so
- 29:29Speaker 1: much more than the. Songs it was the timing of the.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Songs it was the, rumors it was the receipts you
- 29:35Speaker 1: could find on the internet About, Drake it was the. Rebuttals,
- 29:42Speaker 1: right it probably was the receipts more than the, rebuttals
- 29:45Speaker 1: because then it starts to reveal a. Lot right then
- 29:50Speaker 1: it's Super bowl, performance right From kendrick just announcing that
- 29:57Speaker 1: he's doing The Super bowl and then is he gonna
- 30:00Speaker 1: Performed Not Like? Us and he DID i feel like
- 30:03Speaker 1: he look at the camera until he, said, Say, DRAKE
- 30:06Speaker 1: i hear like him, young which is crazy at the Super.
- 30:08Speaker 1: BOWL i hear you like him young at the Super bowl.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Crazy but before that he wins all These grammys for the,
- 30:17Speaker 1: record and before that he dropped the brand new album
- 30:23Speaker 1: in GN x that now has a. Tour so it's just,
- 30:28Speaker 1: like it wasn't just the fact that he dropped these
- 30:33Speaker 1: disc records that will you, know show different looks and
- 30:37Speaker 1: really Broke drake down to the smallest compound bars it.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Was it was also all these residual effects of, it
- 30:49Speaker 1: and not all coming From. Kendrick some of it Was
- 30:53Speaker 1: drake trying to pretend what happened didn't happen right like.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Now GRANTED i don't give him no slack for trying
- 31:03Speaker 1: to drop, music but he wouldn't stop talking about the,
- 31:06Speaker 1: battle AND i felt like it was way too soon
- 31:11Speaker 1: for you to, pretend, like, oh round two coming. Up
- 31:15Speaker 1: but Then kendrick's robutto is a Super bowl commercial saying
- 31:19Speaker 1: no round twos see me at the Super, bowl so
- 31:23Speaker 1: you look Like i'm ready to Fight NOW i woke
- 31:27Speaker 1: up from getting knocked. Out now what it just made
- 31:32Speaker 1: him look, worse you, know taking that picture with his
- 31:36Speaker 1: lips or tooted out crazy with the rest of the
- 31:40Speaker 1: ov holes in the, background doing the video in the,
- 31:43Speaker 1: mall in the mall with the. Kids, DANG i hear
- 31:46Speaker 1: Like i'm, Young like just wrong. Moves then he dropped you,
- 31:50Speaker 1: Know wandre gigs for your, headtop which was to me
- 31:54Speaker 1: was a good, move but it didn't do much for, him.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Right BUT i think what really sealed it more than
- 32:01Speaker 1: any of the things That kendrick has done and received
- 32:05Speaker 1: as a result of winning this, battle Is drake trying
- 32:09Speaker 1: to sue his record company for promoting the, song for
- 32:14Speaker 1: boosting the, song for defamation within the, song and just
- 32:20Speaker 1: so you, know we don't do that in hip. Hop,
- 32:24Speaker 1: Like drake ain't the only one who's been dissed and
- 32:29Speaker 1: something was said about them that might not be. True
- 32:31Speaker 1: that is part of, battling and more, importantly that's what
- 32:35Speaker 1: he was. Doing, first he was Accusing kendrick of being
- 32:40Speaker 1: a woman. Beater he was saying that his son is
- 32:45Speaker 1: not his son and it belongs to his best. Friend
- 32:48Speaker 1: so he's talking about his, wife he's talking about his,
- 32:50Speaker 1: friends he's talking about his. Kids that is defamation, also
- 32:54Speaker 1: But kendrick doesn't have a lawsuit about. It and then hip,
- 32:58Speaker 1: hop LIKE i, said you can't have you can't have
- 33:03Speaker 1: no lawsuit over no dis. Records that's the most unhip
- 33:07Speaker 1: hop thing you can. Do from a guy who is.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Quoted drake quoted ON i Think Lebron's james podcast joint
- 33:16Speaker 1: in the barber. SHOP i don't know what's CAR i
- 33:17Speaker 1: don't watch. It. Okay when he SAID i studied battle
- 33:22Speaker 1: rap for a, living he said that how you studying
- 33:25Speaker 1: then you have a. Lawsuit you're? Lying. Okay so you
- 33:29Speaker 1: got all these names that he's been given which fit
- 33:32Speaker 1: because it's what he's, doing Like liwbrary right for those
- 33:38Speaker 1: who don't, know his name Is, aubrey But internet is
- 33:41Speaker 1: calling Them liwbrary or probably the one that really fits
- 33:48Speaker 1: the most hip Hop karen Yep. SO i said all
- 33:53Speaker 1: that to, say greatest hip hop battle of all. Time
- 33:59Speaker 1: give me another year or two where we forget about
- 34:02Speaker 1: all of this and there's no tour and it like
- 34:05Speaker 1: it's not a live in the social space, anymore and
- 34:12Speaker 1: it's definitely, close it's definitely it's probably at the, top
- 34:18Speaker 1: and a lot of that has to do with the technology,
- 34:23Speaker 1: today how fast we were able to get. Access just know,
- 34:27Speaker 1: This you didn't hear all the songs for rap battles
- 34:30Speaker 1: so quick once upon a, time you just. Didn't somebody
- 34:34Speaker 1: told you about it and they may be heard it
- 34:38Speaker 1: on the, radio so you had to wait to see
- 34:40Speaker 1: if it was going to be played again or if
- 34:43Speaker 1: you you, know if you in the early internet days
- 34:46Speaker 1: with like JAY z and, nas you go to one
- 34:48Speaker 1: of them sites were able to find. It but this
- 34:52Speaker 1: was like live and direct to the public via music
- 34:56Speaker 1: streaming apps and YouTube and you know commentary from you,
- 35:01Speaker 1: know you could see What drake was thinking in real
- 35:03Speaker 1: time because it kept posting about. Stuff you could follow
- 35:07Speaker 1: your favorite hip hop media people and just watch their
- 35:11Speaker 1: videos like. Mine it was just, different so it felt.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Bigger and when it hits The grammy stage and the
- 35:23Speaker 1: Super bowl, stage if it's not the greatest, battle it
