- 0:07Speaker 1: Welcome into Inside the Charge. I'm Mattie glab and in
- 0:10Speaker 1: this week's episode, we've got a special guest, one of
- 0:14Speaker 1: my favorite people in the building. Bill's quarterback Tredavius White,
- 0:19Speaker 1: is back on the show. We said, Trey was like,
- 0:23Speaker 1: I Mike, I'm back.
- 0:24Speaker 2: You're back. Why are you back?
- 0:25Speaker 3: I'm back? It was time. It was timeless, time.
- 0:29Speaker 4: To tap in my into my podcast back if you
- 0:34Speaker 4: would say, but you know, I just feel like, you know,
- 0:40Speaker 4: I got a lot to say, not a lot to
- 0:42Speaker 4: say it, but I feel like I gotta I got
- 0:44Speaker 4: some good things that that that comes up in his
- 0:47Speaker 4: brain of mind, and I think this is a good
- 0:50Speaker 4: way to, you know, kind of do a little something
- 0:53Speaker 4: different doing out the week.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be very fun.
- 0:56Speaker 4: It's gonna be exciting something that I'm gonna be looking
- 0:59Speaker 4: forward to each and every week.
- 1:01Speaker 3: If you continue to invite me back, Trey, You're always
- 1:05Speaker 3: on tracks.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Contract negotiations off camera.
- 1:11Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm excited about it.
- 1:13Speaker 4: This is gonna be fine, first and many, first of many.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Okay, So here's the deal.
- 1:20Speaker 1: We're gonna have Trey on every week to do a
- 1:22Speaker 1: couple of segments with us and we have some fun
- 1:25Speaker 1: names because Trey is so easy to tie to anything.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So we're going to recap the big win against the
- 1:32Speaker 1: Chiefs and then Trey's got some.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Special things for us.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So let's start with the Chiefs recap. It was so
- 1:39Speaker 1: fun to watch you guys out there, and from the
- 1:42Speaker 1: offense setting the tone early scoring to the defense getting
- 1:46Speaker 1: a three and out right away, it was a total
- 1:49Speaker 1: team effort and it's where you want to be at
- 1:52Speaker 1: the midway point of the season.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Trey.
- 1:54Speaker 1: On defense, you guys allowed a forty four percent completion
- 1:57Speaker 1: percentage to an MVP quarterback who everybody knows in this
- 2:01Speaker 1: league named Patrick Mahomes. What impressed you the most about
- 2:04Speaker 1: the way you played?
- 2:05Speaker 4: Oh, like you said, it was a total team win.
- 2:09Speaker 4: But man, we were able to just communicate well just
- 2:15Speaker 4: the way that we, you know, fed off the offense.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Offense fed off of us special teams as well. We
- 2:20Speaker 4: got some hard hitters out there on that side of
- 2:23Speaker 4: the ball. But I just think that, you know, when
- 2:26Speaker 4: you start the game fast, it's sort of kind of
- 2:28Speaker 4: you know, trickles down to that, and our communication was
- 2:31Speaker 4: going well. The crowd was extra loud that first series
- 2:36Speaker 4: was bananas yes, we played so well as a team.
- 2:39Speaker 4: You know, those are the type of games that you
- 2:42Speaker 4: know your team, you want your team to go through
- 2:44Speaker 4: sort of early in the year, midway through to sort
- 2:47Speaker 4: of build that callus and uh, you know, we got
- 2:50Speaker 4: a lot of guys on our team that played a
- 2:51Speaker 4: lot of a ton of football, ton of important games.
- 2:54Speaker 4: So anytime you can be in a test like that,
- 2:58Speaker 4: you know what your team is made of you. So whenever,
- 3:00Speaker 4: you know, when the games get close during the end
- 3:04Speaker 4: of the year, playoff time or crush time like that,
- 3:06Speaker 4: those big games, we don't flinch. So it was good
- 3:09Speaker 4: to get a win. But we know how this NFL
- 3:11Speaker 4: thing is. You know, it's a week to week league.
- 3:14Speaker 4: You got to take it one game at a time,
- 3:16Speaker 4: one day at a time, one practice at a time,
- 3:19Speaker 4: one film steady at a time. I'm in my McDermott
- 3:22Speaker 4: bag right now.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, one to eleven.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah, hungry, everything earn the right.
- 3:28Speaker 4: So yeah, but you know, like you said, I've been
- 3:30Speaker 4: playing this league for a long time, so I just
- 3:32Speaker 4: know how this thing go. You got to be week
- 3:33Speaker 4: to week, never too high, never too low. But you
- 3:36Speaker 4: got to celebrate the ones.
- 3:37Speaker 3: That you get.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you deserve to celebrate because it was a
- 3:40Speaker 1: really good performance by the defense and the offense. So
- 3:43Speaker 1: for a game like that, the game goes down to
- 3:46Speaker 1: the final play, the Chiefs get the ball with twenty
- 3:49Speaker 1: two seconds left, and everybody in High Mark Stadium is like,
- 3:54Speaker 1: all right, the defense has got to close this out
- 3:57Speaker 1: for us. When you're a part of a game like
- 4:00Speaker 1: that where it is tense in the fourth quarter, what
- 4:03Speaker 1: are the sidelines like.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Well, it's come. You want the sideline to become.
- 4:08Speaker 4: You want to look over to your left and look
- 4:10Speaker 4: over to your right and just know it's nobody's having
- 4:12Speaker 4: anxiety or having bad thoughts or not confident in you know,
- 4:16Speaker 4: the things that we were coached to do and the
- 4:17Speaker 4: things that we go over and and practice each and
- 4:20Speaker 4: every week, like those deep ball last Heil Mary plays like,
- 4:24Speaker 4: we practice those things each and every week. So when
- 4:27Speaker 4: we go into a situation like that, we got the
- 4:29Speaker 4: ultramost the most confidence because we've practiced, we prepared for it,
- 4:33Speaker 4: We've been in every situation. So I just feel like,
- 4:36Speaker 4: you know, when those things come, you know, you want
- 4:39Speaker 4: the most commons players on the field.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You want the most confident players on the field.
- 4:43Speaker 4: You don't want the guys that's out there that are going
- 4:44Speaker 4: to think what if you want the guys that's out
- 4:47Speaker 4: there that gonn know, Like, we're gonna We're gonna finish
- 4:49Speaker 4: this thing out. But like I said, we do a
- 4:52Speaker 4: great job of going over those things each and every
- 4:54Speaker 4: week in practice, so it's not foreign to us. But
- 4:56Speaker 4: we just got to go out there and institute and
- 4:57Speaker 4: we was able to do that. But Maddie being on
- 5:01Speaker 4: the other side of that thing, because I've been on
- 5:04Speaker 4: the other side of it where it went, where it
- 5:06Speaker 4: went left, Yeah, and the plane ride wasn't back's so good.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Somebody wanted to.
- 5:17Speaker 4: You know, you talk about a bad feeling, horrible feeling,
- 5:21Speaker 4: and then you go and then it was about a
- 5:24Speaker 4: week after so we had to wait.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Two more weeks.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, to touch the field right the wrong Ah that
- 5:32Speaker 1: that sticks with.
- 5:32Speaker 3: You, it does.
- 5:34Speaker 4: But you know what, we was able to turn that
- 5:36Speaker 4: page and they made a close air as a team.
- 5:37Speaker 4: But ye, well, when you talk about fourteen days of
- 5:40Speaker 4: not wanting to be seen, it's pretty rough.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Okay, you got you got Patrick Mahomes with seventeen seconds
- 5:47Speaker 1: left in the game, and he has three straight deep
- 5:50Speaker 1: shots and it's on it's on the secondary to make
- 5:55Speaker 1: sure this ball does not find its way into a
- 5:58Speaker 1: into a Chiefs receiver arms. Watching it from a fan perspective,
- 6:05Speaker 1: it seems a little it seems simple.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Bat the ball away.
- 6:09Speaker 1: You can do it. Everybody's jumping up in the air.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Somebody's got to be able to get a hand to
- 6:13Speaker 1: knock it away. I'm sure from players perspective, though, it's
- 6:17Speaker 1: way harder when it comes down to how you do this.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Yes, because they have rules in place too, because you
- 6:25Speaker 4: can't on a hail mary player.
- 6:27Speaker 3: You don't want nobody to end.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Up on the ground, right, because that's all that could
- 6:31Speaker 4: be very detrimental, that could be spotfyle. So you want
- 6:35Speaker 4: to be aggressive, but you don't want to be too
- 6:37Speaker 4: aggressive to where it's like you just commit a like
- 6:40Speaker 4: an egregious penalty that you just can't control.
- 6:42Speaker 2: That's like, that's that's detrimental.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Because the offense will get the ball at the half
- 6:47Speaker 4: yard line. I mean, you know, you want to be
- 6:51Speaker 4: confident in a situation, but like I said, you've seen
- 6:54Speaker 4: so many like situations to where it's like games are
- 6:57Speaker 4: lost in that situation. And it's not like people are
- 7:00Speaker 4: not going over those situations. It just seems like freak
- 7:03Speaker 4: plays happen.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Sometimes. It just happens sometimes.
- 7:07Speaker 2: In ball tips off somebody's hands, or.
- 7:09Speaker 4: You try to knock it down and you're knocking it
- 7:12Speaker 4: down and somebody's just so happening on the ground and
- 7:14Speaker 4: just catch it, or you know, somebody just make us
- 7:17Speaker 4: insane grab to where it's like you trying to knock
- 7:20Speaker 4: the ball down, they just come and just snatch it out,
- 7:23Speaker 4: or somebody's just more blessed than you and just jump
- 7:25Speaker 4: at six or seven inches higher than you do. There's
- 7:28Speaker 4: nothing you can do about it. But yeah, that's a
- 7:31Speaker 4: tough situation. So but you just try to try your
- 7:33Speaker 4: best to just try to get into a situation where
- 7:37Speaker 4: you can kind of box the guy like a rebound
- 7:40Speaker 4: like you're playing basketball. But I just think it's no,
- 7:44Speaker 4: it's no like best way to do that situation, and
- 7:49Speaker 4: it's you can practice it how you want it to go.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Each and every time you can't simulate the movements of
- 7:56Speaker 4: somebody else.
- 7:57Speaker 3: You don't know where we're going.
- 7:58Speaker 4: So it's those things it's like you got to worry
- 8:00Speaker 4: about to scramble and just the trajectory, are able to
- 8:03Speaker 4: ball like time it right, timeent right, like how it's
- 8:06Speaker 4: going to fall, nose down.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And it's not like you're you're an outfielder and you're
- 8:10Speaker 1: tracking the ball like you are standing waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.
- 8:15Speaker 4: So then you know, you got the guys that you
- 8:17Speaker 4: classify as the jumpers too, You got they gotta time
- 8:20Speaker 4: it up, jump up right. So it's a lot of
- 8:21Speaker 4: things that can have to go right for the defense
- 8:24Speaker 4: for it to be successful. But a lot of things
- 8:26Speaker 4: got to go right for the offense too for it
- 8:28Speaker 4: to be successful. No whole defensive no offensive holding because
- 8:31Speaker 4: the quarterback gotta kind of move around a little bit,
- 8:34Speaker 4: so everybody can get down the field to be able
- 8:36Speaker 4: to you know, a lot of defensive linemen, you don't
- 8:39Speaker 4: have a lot of You don't have three guys out there.
- 8:41Speaker 4: It's rushing and you have eight guys that's back. So
- 8:44Speaker 4: you do the math, it's what five five guys trying
- 8:48Speaker 4: to block these three guys. So you want your best
- 8:50Speaker 4: pass versus out there too. But if these guys are
- 8:53Speaker 4: getting double team, it's it's kind of hard.
- 8:55Speaker 3: It's not on them.
- 8:56Speaker 4: So then they say you got more guys that's trying
- 8:58Speaker 4: to defend the past. Then who is able to catch it.
- 9:04Speaker 3: It's a hard situation.
- 9:05Speaker 4: What I would say, you know, you just try to
- 9:07Speaker 4: take a couple of de breaths before the players is
- 9:09Speaker 4: hope for the best.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So a lot goes into this, A lot goes into
- 9:13Speaker 1: defending a deep shot at the end of the game
- 9:17Speaker 1: to tie it up or to win it. If the
- 9:19Speaker 1: Chiefs would have gone for two points and you guys
- 9:24Speaker 1: come out victorious, what does a game like this do
- 9:27Speaker 1: for your confidence?
- 9:29Speaker 4: You know, I mean you win, you know, obviously you
- 9:33Speaker 4: want to win each and every week. But you know
- 9:34Speaker 4: when you go and geinst the offense like that and
- 9:37Speaker 4: you're going and you play well as we did on defense,
- 9:39Speaker 4: you know, of course, guys going to make plays. You know,
- 9:42Speaker 4: you just try to limit the damage. And we did
- 9:44Speaker 4: a great job of a lot of sacks, a lot
- 9:46Speaker 4: of quarterback hits.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Fifteen quarterback hits.
- 9:49Speaker 3: That's a lot of quarterback hits.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 9:51Speaker 4: The quarterbacks don't want to feel that, I'm telling you,
- 9:54Speaker 4: they don't want to feel that, especially how Mark Stadium
- 9:56Speaker 4: wants to When that sun goes down and that temperature.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Drops a little bit, HiT's hurt a little Yeah, it hurt.
- 10:01Speaker 4: A little bit more, but just the performance on defense
- 10:05Speaker 4: is just, you know, that's what we want. He was
- 10:08Speaker 4: able to take the ball away fourth down, stops, sacks
- 10:12Speaker 4: on the quarterback. We did well in the run game,
- 10:14Speaker 4: the gate and the run game.
- 10:16Speaker 3: No explosives in the run game too.
- 10:17Speaker 4: So anytime you can do that, take the ball away
- 10:20Speaker 4: a lot of three and owns and get the ball
- 10:21Speaker 4: back to our offense. Were always going to have a shot.
- 10:23Speaker 4: We always feel like we're gonna have a great shot.
- 10:25Speaker 4: We can get the ball back to the offense and
- 10:27Speaker 4: Josh and Ose boys so they can get the cooking.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It was awesome to watch. Exciting way to close out
- 10:33Speaker 1: the first half of the season. As you guys move
- 10:35Speaker 1: into week ten, okay, we've got a segment that we're
- 10:38Speaker 1: calling Top Tray. It's your three favorite things from this
- 10:43Speaker 1: past week. From this week, what's going on in your life?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Halloween just happened. You have three of the cutest kids
- 10:49Speaker 1: in the world. Did you have a favorite costume?
- 10:53Speaker 4: I did, but I can't say who had the best.
- 10:57Speaker 4: BACKULD say somebody had was a little ups driver holding
- 11:02Speaker 4: a little box. Had to be careful to scratch the
- 11:05Speaker 4: address off the box because the address was on the box.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yours, Yes, the address was on the box.
- 11:10Speaker 4: So we had to we had to scrape that off.
- 11:12Speaker 4: But we had a little guy that was delivery driver.
- 11:15Speaker 4: We had a Ninja spider man. These guys love Halloween,
- 11:19Speaker 4: so I think we got him. Like three costumes.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Are they wearing costumes for like a week plus in
- 11:24Speaker 1: the house, like it's Halloween time.
- 11:26Speaker 2: We just want to be in our costume.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Dad uh nah.
- 11:29Speaker 4: But you know, I feel like, you know, they try
- 11:31Speaker 4: to put on their costumes to get more candy. That's
- 11:34Speaker 4: the thing, you know, want to be in. It's my
- 11:36Speaker 4: middle it's my middle son. He's the one.
- 11:38Speaker 3: He's the one that's going to push the envelope on everything.
- 11:41Speaker 4: So but you know, we try to limit the candy,
- 11:44Speaker 4: the candy, the candy consumption. But we was able to
- 11:48Speaker 4: get out and do a little trigger treating. It was great.
- 11:53Speaker 4: The wind was blowing.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it wasn't good weather this year.
- 11:56Speaker 4: But you know what, like I just feel like every
- 11:59Speaker 4: year that I've been in Buffalo, either the wind is
- 12:01Speaker 4: blowing was good. Well, but every Halloween that I've been here,
- 12:12Speaker 4: either rainy or the wind is blowing extremely hard, and
- 12:16Speaker 4: this year it was it was a wind blowing yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 4: And uh when I say so, I went trigger treating.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I went, you know, stop the yard, got out the
- 12:25Speaker 4: yard with the boys, had the had the youngest in
- 12:28Speaker 4: my arms. We get halfway down the street. The wind
- 12:31Speaker 4: is blowing so hard. He's like, he, I want mommy.
- 12:34Speaker 4: So we had to turn around, all four of us.
- 12:37Speaker 4: So I had all the boys and uh, we had
- 12:39Speaker 4: to go back to the house because the little guy
- 12:41Speaker 4: wanted mommy. And then we had to and we had
- 12:44Speaker 4: to start back at the same house, at the first
- 12:48Speaker 4: house that we went to, because my kids thought that
- 12:52Speaker 4: we should just start all the way over. So we
- 12:54Speaker 4: trigger treated at some houses twice.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Only only my little only my little boy do that.
- 13:00Speaker 4: But we had a great time. We got out trick
- 13:02Speaker 4: or treated, We went up and down the road. You know,
- 13:06Speaker 4: my neighbors they were so great about it. They did
- 13:08Speaker 4: a great job of you know, being outside in costume
- 13:11Speaker 4: themselves when the kids go up. So it was a
- 13:13Speaker 4: fun time. My kids always look forward to that. The
- 13:16Speaker 4: Halloween is one of one of the favorite holidays in
- 13:19Speaker 4: my household.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I would say, for sure.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I love it. What are you watching. Trey is a
- 13:25Speaker 1: big TV show guy. If you guys didn't know, yes,
- 13:29Speaker 1: he's a binger. I am, what's the best thing you've
- 13:33Speaker 1: watched recently? Currently beinging?
- 13:37Speaker 3: Right now?
- 13:37Speaker 4: I'm watching this show called Doc, a great show. So
- 13:43Speaker 4: it's about this this er doctor. She one of the best,
- 13:48Speaker 4: one of the best around, and she gets into a
- 13:51Speaker 4: car wreckt and she she loses like eight years of
- 13:54Speaker 4: her memory from the last so when she wakes up
- 13:57Speaker 4: out the come on, like she didn't realize that she
- 14:00Speaker 4: was divorced her.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Son, her son had passed away.
- 14:05Speaker 4: She had developed this relationship with this guy that she
- 14:08Speaker 4: was working with that she didn't even know that they
- 14:10Speaker 4: were dating when she came back. Great show ongoing. I
- 14:14Speaker 4: think I finished season one in probably seven days and
- 14:20Speaker 4: now I'm on season two. It comes out on Tuesday,
- 14:23Speaker 4: so I'm anticipating it coming.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Out tonight Tuesday.
- 14:26Speaker 4: He's going to be locked in a day with the
- 14:28Speaker 4: TV Season two episode five, if you will, We're locked in.
- 14:32Speaker 3: But the show is great, But another show.
- 14:35Speaker 4: I mean, if you want to know the best shows, though,
- 14:39Speaker 4: the best guy to go to is Aren Johnson.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Oh Teraron Johnson.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Aaron Johnson has an encyclopedia.
- 14:45Speaker 2: When it comes to TV shows.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, Like, this guy puts me on some
- 14:50Speaker 4: of the best shows. But the thing is, if you
- 14:53Speaker 4: take his you know, take his feedback, you have to
- 14:56Speaker 4: watch it because the next day he's going.
- 14:58Speaker 3: To be like, did you watch it? Did you bro
- 15:03Speaker 3: to watch it? Like he's one of those.
- 15:05Speaker 4: So like, if you take his his show, his show expertise,
- 15:10Speaker 4: he's going to he's going to be on your body.
- 15:12Speaker 4: So every show that he's told me about I've watched.
- 15:17Speaker 4: He can't miss. He cannot miss on the show recommendations.
- 15:21Speaker 3: He's the guy that I go to.
- 15:23Speaker 4: He didn't recommend this one, but he's he got he
- 15:27Speaker 4: recommended this new show. I haven't started it yet. I
- 15:30Speaker 4: keep putting them off because of the doc show. But
- 15:34Speaker 4: this show causes the last Frontier. So I'm going to
- 15:38Speaker 4: get on that. I'm gonna get on that. I'm gonna
- 15:40Speaker 4: get on that soon. But before he put me, before
- 15:43Speaker 4: I found this doc show, I know a lot of
- 15:46Speaker 4: people are going to be on me. I rather should
- 15:49Speaker 4: I say, I don't care, judge me if you want.
- 15:52Speaker 4: I've been watching Scandal, been watching Scandal.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He's been watching Scandal.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Season five episode like seventeen and I'm hooked hooks I haven't.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I haven't watched Scandal yet, but I know Scandal.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I don't think I should be watching that though, Who cares?
- 16:11Speaker 3: What's entertaining it is.
- 16:14Speaker 4: It's just something that just I don't know, it's just
- 16:16Speaker 4: something about it, like it just draws me to it,
- 16:21Speaker 4: you know, whenever I just need to get away, I can.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I can manage watch that. I can fall asleep, rewind it,
- 16:26Speaker 4: go back through. But yeah, but the Doc show is
- 16:30Speaker 4: definitely is the one that I would recommend.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Great.
- 16:34Speaker 4: I'm really, really, really really excited about tonight about the show.
- 16:39Speaker 3: After I get the film study doing first. Get to
- 16:41Speaker 3: get the study done first first.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Then you can have your Then I can have a
- 16:45Speaker 4: little little you know, maybe forty five forty seven fifty
- 16:49Speaker 4: minutes episode.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I think I can squeeze that in. I think I
- 16:52Speaker 3: can sweeze.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Why not, I'm squeezed all right.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear for more show recommendations coming
- 16:57Speaker 1: up in the future. Watch Doc on Hulu. Trey can
- 17:00Speaker 1: talk to you about it as he moves on in season.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Two, you said, Season two, Season two.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Episode five, Okay, finishing us off We're at the midway
- 17:10Speaker 1: point of the season. The bodies feeling the wear and
- 17:13Speaker 1: tear of football.
- 17:15Speaker 3: The body is bodying.
- 17:16Speaker 2: The body is bodying.
- 17:18Speaker 1: What does Trey White do on an off day to
- 17:21Speaker 1: make sure I'm getting right for this upcoming game?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Do you have a favorite thing in terms of rehab?
- 17:29Speaker 4: My favorite thing to do for rehab is definitely the
- 17:31Speaker 4: contrast hot tub cold tub. Like that it's a time
- 17:35Speaker 4: for me to get put my headphones in, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 4: get ready and relaxed in my music because the cold
- 17:42Speaker 4: tub is one of those things you gotta take your
- 17:44Speaker 4: mind off of it, so you gotta have some things
- 17:45Speaker 4: going on. So the contrast between the hot and cold
- 17:49Speaker 4: tub is just my favorite. But over the years, I've
- 17:53Speaker 4: been able to come up with, you know, a routine
- 17:55Speaker 4: that I've been very strict to for.
- 17:59Speaker 3: I say seven and a half years.
- 18:02Speaker 4: So on a regular on a Tuesday, I come in,
- 18:05Speaker 4: you know, I got dry nigga to acupuncture. I have
- 18:08Speaker 4: to uh the chiropractor here to give my body adjustment
- 18:11Speaker 4: just the feet, the ankles, knees, back, everything, So I
- 18:18Speaker 4: do that, get massage, hot to cold tub, sauna, you know,
- 18:26Speaker 4: hot red light bed. It's a lot that goes into it,
- 18:29Speaker 4: like to mentally just know that you you did everything
- 18:34Speaker 4: you can because that's good for the body too, because
- 18:36Speaker 4: you tell the mind it's gonna fallow all the way
- 18:39Speaker 4: down to So yeah, that a.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Lot of rests or sweet tart, charity cherry juice, gotta
- 18:48Speaker 3: have one of those.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Before you do that. But sleep it's the most important thing.
- 18:52Speaker 4: So I try to get at least eight, at least eight,
- 18:57Speaker 4: and mad, I try to get at least eight.
- 19:00Speaker 2: That's amazing. Eight at least, I'm like at least seven.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I wish I was at least eight if that sounds
- 19:05Speaker 2: like a dream work.
- 19:05Speaker 4: If I get that eight hours like a million greats day.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Like, I just know the different I notice the difference.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Trede walks in the facility whistlings, you know.
- 19:15Speaker 4: So I if I'm gonna get eight hours, I gotta
- 19:17Speaker 4: be in at bad But ninety five.
- 19:21Speaker 2: You guys are in here early.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I know.
- 19:23Speaker 3: They still feels like there's nine o'clock at night when
- 19:25Speaker 3: you when it's still dark and you lead the facility,
- 19:28Speaker 3: it's dark.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's tough, tough time of the year for us Buffalo, you.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Know, Coachman, I'm gonna do a great job. He's gonna put.
- 19:35Speaker 4: These palm trees up, are going out coming up is
- 19:39Speaker 4: this time of the year. Yes, Then he has these lights.
- 19:43Speaker 4: It's all throughout the facility too.
- 19:45Speaker 3: He do a great job. We do a great job
- 19:48Speaker 3: of embracing it though.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that lights that light bed though, that light, yes, yes,
- 19:54Speaker 4: you know that's that's that's the sunlight.
- 19:56Speaker 3: We get right there.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I mean, you gotta take advantage of that thing. But yes,
- 20:02Speaker 4: like I said, the routine has always been the same.
- 20:05Speaker 6: You know.
- 20:05Speaker 4: It took me a lot of trial and there over
- 20:07Speaker 4: the years of just you know, watching guys like Kyle Alexander,
- 20:12Speaker 4: like my first couple of years, just to see like
- 20:14Speaker 4: they've been playing this long, Like what are some of
- 20:18Speaker 4: the things that these guys are doing.
- 20:20Speaker 3: So I picked up pilates and I thought I was
- 20:25Speaker 3: an athlete stretching parts of those reform ms. Yeah, game changers.
- 20:37Speaker 4: So I try to mix that into the just you know,
- 20:39Speaker 4: you gotta you know, stretch the muscles too. So it's
- 20:42Speaker 4: definitely always to try to get on one foot, try
- 20:45Speaker 4: to balance a little bit, things like that, all the
- 20:47Speaker 4: core and things like that. So it's a mixture of
- 20:50Speaker 4: a lot of things, but my go to is, like
- 20:52Speaker 4: I said, I come here on that Tuesday, and you know,
- 20:54Speaker 4: it start off with that that chiropractor and then I
- 20:58Speaker 4: got the needles in the hot hot sauna, then cold tub.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Come on like that tuesdays a day, you know.
- 21:07Speaker 4: But then you know, you have some of those times
- 21:09Speaker 4: where you just like over the years I've known like
- 21:13Speaker 4: I've like watched the show on Coke Brian and he
- 21:15Speaker 4: was just like, you know, we have a routine, but
- 21:18Speaker 4: also like listen to the body. True, So it's like
- 21:21Speaker 4: I have those weeks sometimes when I just listen to
- 21:23Speaker 4: the body where I just nothing and just let it
- 21:28Speaker 4: cover naturally just and that works too, So sometimes you
- 21:32Speaker 4: got to like mix it up. But for the most part,
- 21:35Speaker 4: I'm very very strict about that regiment and it's been working.
- 21:40Speaker 3: It works.
- 21:41Speaker 4: You try to do the best you can to make
- 21:43Speaker 4: your body feel the best it can be come Sunday,
- 21:47Speaker 4: because that's the most important.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Sunday is the most when you guys fly around on
- 21:51Speaker 1: the field. Okay, before we pitched to the interview, I
- 21:56Speaker 1: believe I'm interviewing Sam Franklin Junior this week.
- 22:00Speaker 2: What should I ask Sam.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Trey ask him about our trip that we had to Disney.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Did we talk about that already on camera? But yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 3: ask him about our trip. You know.
- 22:14Speaker 4: It was our first time meeting and we connected well
- 22:16Speaker 4: because he was teammates with one of my my close friends,
- 22:19Speaker 4: one of my good friends from college, Dante Jackson, who
- 22:22Speaker 4: plays for the Chargers.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Now shout out to Dante. Dante is one of my
- 22:26Speaker 3: favorite But.
- 22:28Speaker 4: He and Frank played together, and I mean Sam Sam
- 22:31Speaker 4: prayed together in Carolina and uh it was in the
- 22:33Speaker 4: area because Dante and I we always go on these
- 22:36Speaker 4: family trips each and every year to Disney, take the
- 22:39Speaker 4: kids down there, have a left family time, you know.
- 22:42Speaker 3: But uh, he was he he joined us one last
- 22:45Speaker 3: what's that two years ago?
- 22:47Speaker 4: And you know when he once he sound here and
- 22:50Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, we locked in.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 22:53Speaker 4: So, uh it's fun every time, you know, anytime you
- 22:57Speaker 4: can connect with somebody and.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Then last forward they become your teammates, it's fun.
- 23:03Speaker 5: Man.
- 23:03Speaker 4: So he's a big boost to our team. I know
- 23:07Speaker 4: he's a special team guy.
- 23:09Speaker 2: That he's a he gets double team on special team.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Oh every and he's gonna let you know that he's
- 23:14Speaker 4: a double team So lookers about each other to you know,
- 23:18Speaker 4: game twenty seven eight And this guy here, I'm telling
- 23:22Speaker 4: he's a he's a dog.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Like I don't think he wears socks.
- 23:25Speaker 4: He puts like he cuts his socks man, like to
- 23:28Speaker 4: where it's like a spec and he just put his
- 23:31Speaker 4: shoes on.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Like so anytime you're dealing with a guy like that.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Dog, if you cut your socks and your dog.
- 23:38Speaker 3: I think he's playing raw, just raw feet out.
- 23:41Speaker 2: There with like socking blisters.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Yeah, this guy, he's a he's a freak athlete too,
- 23:47Speaker 4: Like you can see how he like catches the ball.
- 23:50Speaker 3: He's a freak.
- 23:51Speaker 4: He's a great player, great person too, like screamely screamly
- 23:55Speaker 4: humble guy.
- 23:58Speaker 3: I can't say enough about him.
- 23:59Speaker 4: But like I said, that's that Carolina McDermot connection, you.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Know what I mean. He begins that, he begins, let's go.
- 24:11Speaker 3: He's a who else we got from down there?
- 24:15Speaker 2: Man? A. J. Klein had that connection when he was here.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Man, we got daykone came from Carolina, Uh, go all
- 24:24Speaker 1: the way back star star Kirk Coleman, Kirk Coleman, I
- 24:31Speaker 1: was trying to figure out. I was trying to remember
- 24:33Speaker 1: his first name, Kirk Coleman.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Who else we have we keep going, hold on Brandy Bean,
- 24:41Speaker 4: Sean McDermott. We got him all from Carolina. Appreciate the Carolina.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Appreciate you, mister Pepper down that on the day. You
- 24:49Speaker 4: appreciate that you got some great dollars in Buffalo because Carolina.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Man, that connection, that Carolina.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Connection, it's alive.
- 24:56Speaker 3: It's alive what we started at the top.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Trey, all right, appreciate the time. We're gonna pitch this
- 25:04Speaker 1: interview with Sam Franklin Junior. We'll be back afterwards with more. Sam,
- 25:08Speaker 1: thanks for coming on to hang out on inside the Charge.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Answer some questions. I'm excited to get to know you better.
- 25:13Speaker 6: Excited to be here. I mean, I haven't had many
- 25:17Speaker 6: questions asking me lately.
- 25:18Speaker 2: All Right, well, then let's start it right now.
- 25:20Speaker 1: You spent your first five years with the Carolina Panthers,
- 25:23Speaker 1: now you're in Buffalo. How have you embraced this team
- 25:26Speaker 1: so far?
- 25:27Speaker 5: It's been a new experience, learning new people. I haven't
- 25:31Speaker 5: had a real change since college, so I mean, it's
- 25:33Speaker 5: been great. These guys opened me with welcome arms. There's
- 25:37Speaker 5: some great teammates and then you know they're funny group.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Okay, they're a funny group. Who's funny on this team?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Who are you vibing with?
- 25:44Speaker 5: You know, it's a couple of guys that I like,
- 25:46Speaker 5: did I like vibe with Ryan? He's one of those
- 25:50Speaker 5: guys you know, Frank.
- 25:51Speaker 6: He's pretty funny. Todd Johnson.
- 25:54Speaker 5: So, I mean, it's a lot of people, like a
- 25:55Speaker 5: lot of people on my row and like this around
- 25:57Speaker 5: the area. It's Cam He's a cool person to that.
- 26:00Speaker 5: I like to joke Brown with j maris a couple
- 26:02Speaker 5: of guys, the whole dB group.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Basically, who's the funniest guy in the dB room?
- 26:07Speaker 5: Uh?
- 26:09Speaker 6: Right now?
- 26:09Speaker 5: We give it to our rookie Jordan just how he's
- 26:11Speaker 5: just like just answer everything. He's just like so nonchalant
- 26:16Speaker 5: and he'd be so serious about everything and he like what.
- 26:20Speaker 6: Well I do?
- 26:20Speaker 5: Like he don't be knowing like the funny stuff he
- 26:22Speaker 5: do sometimes. That's why he's pretty funny.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Since you're new to this team, who is Sam Franklin?
- 26:29Speaker 5: Off the field, I'm a man of guy, the father first,
- 26:35Speaker 5: and I mean I'm really pretty chill. I mean I
- 26:37Speaker 5: like to go do stuff like go hunting, doing my
- 26:40Speaker 5: off season fishing. We go ATV and a little bit.
- 26:46Speaker 5: We had some mother holes where I live at, so,
- 26:48Speaker 5: I mean we do a little bit of everything. Just
- 26:50Speaker 5: doing the off season, you know, I try to disconnect
- 26:52Speaker 5: from football a little bit, you know, just get back
- 26:55Speaker 5: to like regular world stuff and not really be on
- 26:57Speaker 5: my phone.
- 26:58Speaker 2: What's your favorite thing to hunt or fish?
- 27:01Speaker 6: Why?
- 27:02Speaker 5: Haven't really got into like the deep the depths of hunting,
- 27:04Speaker 5: but I mean they would probably be the first thing.
- 27:08Speaker 6: Probably like wild hoggling.
- 27:09Speaker 5: That's pretty fun, getting out, putting the dogs run, tracking
- 27:13Speaker 5: them through the woods.
- 27:14Speaker 6: That's pretty fun.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Where do you like to do that at.
- 27:16Speaker 5: I'm from Florida, so like in Internet's Citrus County, Like
- 27:19Speaker 5: we got some pretty good spots. Yeah, my friend AJ
- 27:23Speaker 5: he has a spot that we'd be going to. I
- 27:25Speaker 5: can't give it away. Secrets, secret spot. He got a
- 27:29Speaker 5: secret fishing spot too. I tell a couple of those
- 27:31Speaker 5: if he.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Make me mad.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Sam, it's easy to see that your energy is off
- 27:36Speaker 1: the charts. You play like your hair's on fire, and
- 27:39Speaker 1: you tackle like your life depends on it. How did
- 27:42Speaker 1: you become that type of player?
- 27:44Speaker 5: It's always been like that since I've been in a
- 27:46Speaker 5: little you know, effort is something that I always felt
- 27:50Speaker 5: like it's always between me and me. So I just
- 27:53Speaker 5: always wanted to be the guy who out effort everybody
- 27:56Speaker 5: and then once it's time to make a play, I
- 27:58Speaker 5: just feel like I need you to think about it
- 28:01Speaker 5: next time you see me.
- 28:02Speaker 2: You need to think about it the next time you
- 28:05Speaker 2: see me. That is amazing.
- 28:06Speaker 1: What's the feedback you've gotten from your teammates with that
- 28:09Speaker 1: type of effort and some of the hits that you've
- 28:11Speaker 1: laid on people.
- 28:13Speaker 5: You know, it just gets the defense going and then
- 28:16Speaker 5: you know, it just just gives a spark of the
- 28:18Speaker 5: old line.
- 28:19Speaker 6: They love it.
- 28:20Speaker 5: They when I start to block people, are you know
- 28:22Speaker 5: I make a big hit, They're probably like one of
- 28:24Speaker 5: the first few people like the surrounding me like yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 5: let's go with like they want they want to see
- 28:29Speaker 5: some like and I just like this having guys like
- 28:33Speaker 5: paying attention to special teams just for that one play,
- 28:35Speaker 5: like knowing people just look at it and just be like, oh,
- 28:39Speaker 5: you know, I'm about to go in, but you know
- 28:40Speaker 5: they're really locked in trying to see like what's going
- 28:42Speaker 5: to happen, Who's going to make the play. So I
- 28:44Speaker 5: mean that's very very much the best thing, better than
- 28:48Speaker 5: any compliment they can give me, because mostly it's them
- 28:52Speaker 5: showing that like they care about this one play that
- 28:54Speaker 5: we're on.
- 28:55Speaker 1: You have a lot of pride in your play on
- 28:58Speaker 1: special teams. Where does that come from?
- 29:01Speaker 5: You know, not everybody can be a starter. My dad
- 29:04Speaker 5: teld me that young, not everybody can be the star player.
- 29:07Speaker 5: So I mean your role in the team is just
- 29:09Speaker 5: as portant as the star players.
- 29:10Speaker 6: Just like the old line. They may not never get
- 29:13Speaker 6: the accolades that they want or get.
- 29:15Speaker 5: The oh you had a great game, but you know
- 29:18Speaker 5: they're gonna remember that I went holding call or the
- 29:20Speaker 5: sack that they give up. So I mean it's just
- 29:23Speaker 5: like that, Like I look at it from like a
- 29:25Speaker 5: perspective like that, Like you have to enjoy these one
- 29:29Speaker 5: or two players that you give because once you're out
- 29:31Speaker 5: of the NFL, you're out of the NFL, Like there's
- 29:33Speaker 5: no coming back, there's no duo over. So like every
- 29:36Speaker 5: player that I get is just a blessing to be
- 29:37Speaker 5: out there.
- 29:38Speaker 1: What's your favorite part about playing on special teams?
- 29:44Speaker 5: Like the little like competition that you have, like with
- 29:47Speaker 5: the other guys on special team, like who's making the tackle?
- 29:51Speaker 5: Like you feel me pointing out like little stuff like
- 29:54Speaker 5: oh I beat you down last time. It's just like
- 29:56Speaker 5: little stuff that like like you get the do or
- 29:59Speaker 5: gets other people, and then in practice like going against guys,
- 30:02Speaker 5: you know, winning a rep like and then you like
- 30:04Speaker 5: you get to know somebody and like they know like
- 30:07Speaker 5: your move, so it makes it harder.
- 30:09Speaker 6: So I mean, it's just like the growth that I
- 30:12Speaker 6: like to see, like.
- 30:13Speaker 5: From like the starters to for me, from the guys
- 30:15Speaker 5: who come come in on spres teams one player, all
- 30:18Speaker 5: the guys who do three. It's just like the build
- 30:20Speaker 5: up that you have and like the getting better of
- 30:22Speaker 5: it that I love to see.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Is there somebody that you find yourself always jawing with
- 30:28Speaker 1: in practice on special teams and when it comes to
- 30:31Speaker 1: watching it back in the film room.
- 30:32Speaker 5: Yeah, Me, Jmi and Dane, like we switch pretty much
- 30:36Speaker 5: a lot, and we always go with each other. And
- 30:39Speaker 5: it's just always like them trying like a new technique
- 30:43Speaker 5: or like something that they think they might want to try,
- 30:46Speaker 5: like going to the game, or it's just me like
- 30:48Speaker 5: finding little knicks like to make me a little bit
- 30:51Speaker 5: faster out there, you know, just little stuff like that,
- 30:53Speaker 5: and those guys always come with the right energy. They
- 30:57Speaker 5: always push me to, you know, be a little bit better.
- 31:00Speaker 5: I mean, if it wasn't for those guys, it's a
- 31:02Speaker 5: lot of stuff that like a lot of wins that
- 31:04Speaker 5: I do have, Like they.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Already showed me to look through four.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Times already and it came up with the plan before
- 31:09Speaker 5: it even happened. So I mean, those guys help me
- 31:11Speaker 5: out a lot.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Special Teams can also be used as a tone setter
- 31:15Speaker 1: for the entire team. You've had hits where the entire
- 31:19Speaker 1: sideline comes up to embrace you after those hits.
- 31:23Speaker 2: What does that do for an offense?
- 31:27Speaker 5: It just sits the tone for the drive, like all right,
- 31:30Speaker 5: we know we're gonna come out here. We're gonna smash
- 31:32Speaker 5: you in them out Like we know we're gonna give
- 31:34Speaker 5: our all on this drive. It's just like being the
- 31:37Speaker 5: tone setter sometimes I just feel like it helps. It
- 31:41Speaker 5: can capture the flow like really quick, like even if
- 31:43Speaker 5: you like down or something bad happened that one little hit,
- 31:46Speaker 5: all that one little Special Teams players like oh we
- 31:49Speaker 5: still got a chance. So like it's just being the igniter.
- 31:52Speaker 5: Sometimes you just got to start the fire.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Sam Franklin the igniter.
- 31:56Speaker 5: Sometimes you just got to start the fire and then
- 31:58Speaker 5: watch everybody else catching they'll handle the reds.
- 32:01Speaker 6: For real.
- 32:01Speaker 2: I was talking to Tredevius White about you.
- 32:04Speaker 1: He said that you guys got introduced from a mutual friend,
- 32:07Speaker 1: and he said, Sam Franklin has added so much to
- 32:11Speaker 1: this team in terms of his personality, in terms of
- 32:14Speaker 1: his fire. When a teammate says that about you, what's
- 32:17Speaker 1: your reaction.
- 32:19Speaker 6: It's just like a blessing for real.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Like I just for me personally, I just want to
- 32:24Speaker 5: give like my all for everybody on the team. I
- 32:27Speaker 5: don't want to leave a game thinking that I let
- 32:30Speaker 5: them down or like I wasn't as prepared as I
- 32:33Speaker 5: need to be.
- 32:34Speaker 6: So, I mean, that's the biggest thing for me.
- 32:37Speaker 5: I'm very much scared of being the guy who doesn't
- 32:41Speaker 5: do his part on the team. Even though like people say,
- 32:44Speaker 5: it's just special teams, like how can you mess it up?
- 32:46Speaker 6: It's a lot of ways you can mess it up.
- 32:48Speaker 5: So my job is to make sure that we don't
- 32:50Speaker 5: mess it up and that everybody's focused on that one play.
- 32:53Speaker 6: Just so we can have a chance to win.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Like that's my biggest thing, Like even like giving up
- 32:57Speaker 5: long returns, even like if it wasn't on my side
- 33:00Speaker 5: giving up a long return to the other team are
- 33:02Speaker 5: getting stopping inside of twenty I look at it that
- 33:04Speaker 5: as my unit hurting the team, and I don't like
- 33:07Speaker 5: to hurt the.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Team being scared to not do your part. I think
- 33:11Speaker 1: you've shown over your career in the NFL that you've
- 33:15Speaker 1: always done your part. You're an undrafted player, You've been
- 33:19Speaker 1: in the league now for six years. How have you
- 33:21Speaker 1: shown that it doesn't matter where I'm drafted, I can
- 33:25Speaker 1: I can impact this.
- 33:26Speaker 6: Team just by you know.
- 33:29Speaker 5: My biggest thing is when I first came in the
- 33:31Speaker 5: NFL was just when today, don't really worry about tomorrow.
- 33:36Speaker 6: And that's the person that I always have.
- 33:38Speaker 5: I always feel like, even though like I'm on a team,
- 33:42Speaker 5: I can.
- 33:42Speaker 6: Always get cut. I can always be the guy back home.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Like so, I just never felt really comfortable even after
- 33:48Speaker 5: I was on the team. Even if I did do
- 33:50Speaker 5: good that game, It's like I did good, But how
- 33:52Speaker 5: do I stay keep doing good?
- 33:54Speaker 6: You know? That's the biggest thing with me.
- 33:56Speaker 5: I don't like to fall off and I don't like
- 33:59Speaker 5: to decline. So like a lot of things that I
- 34:02Speaker 5: do are because I just don't want to let down
- 34:05Speaker 5: myself and the team around me. Like that's the biggest
- 34:08Speaker 5: thing with me. Like I didn't say that once, but
- 34:10Speaker 5: like it's truly like something that I, like, I truly
- 34:13Speaker 5: have a fear of. It's not being ready or not
- 34:15Speaker 5: being folks enough for the team and letting them down.
- 34:18Speaker 5: So like every day I come in, I just treat
- 34:21Speaker 5: it like this could be my last day in here.
- 34:23Speaker 5: So I just get what I can and I try
- 34:25Speaker 5: to stay as positive as possible because this doesn't last forever.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Because of that.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Are you somebody who does well operating off of the
- 34:32Speaker 1: fear factor in your brain?
- 34:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I do very well with that.
- 34:36Speaker 5: And then it comes to a point to where, like
- 34:38Speaker 5: I do turn it off too, Like I know when
- 34:40Speaker 5: to have it and when not to have it.
- 34:42Speaker 6: I know that.
- 34:43Speaker 5: Like I'm a pretty good player too, So it's like
- 34:45Speaker 5: after I didn't put it in my work, it's like,
- 34:47Speaker 5: all right, Sam, now we just gotta trust everything that
- 34:49Speaker 5: we had and we just got to play ball because
- 34:52Speaker 5: things are gonna happen.
- 34:53Speaker 6: I'm not gonna be in control of everything.
- 34:55Speaker 5: But the best thing you do is have a positive
- 34:56Speaker 5: attitude and give great effort. So that's that's my biggest
- 35:00Speaker 5: thaying when I do come in after I turn off
- 35:02Speaker 5: that like we get around Thursday Friday, then I'm like,
- 35:05Speaker 5: all right, we're ready, like we're coming along, like like.
- 35:08Speaker 6: We can do this.
- 35:09Speaker 5: And then I get into the more of the Sam
- 35:11Speaker 5: frank And that they see on Sunday, where is hot
- 35:14Speaker 5: confidence flying around. I know I'm the best person out here,
- 35:18Speaker 5: but it's a step and processes that you have to
- 35:21Speaker 5: go through the week to get there. I don't I
- 35:23Speaker 5: don't believe that you just get to be there every
- 35:25Speaker 5: week because you say you are.
- 35:27Speaker 6: You have to shorten film and in practice.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I see it.
- 35:29Speaker 1: It's a right to be confident on Sundays, it's you
- 35:33Speaker 1: have to earn your right. As you're saying things like
- 35:36Speaker 1: I've got to win today. I don't want to let
- 35:39Speaker 1: anybody down. You're sounding like our head coach Sean McDermott
- 35:43Speaker 1: and what he says, do your one eleventh you got
- 35:45Speaker 1: to be humble and hungry. It seems like you fit
- 35:49Speaker 1: in very easily to this culture here that is about family,
- 35:52Speaker 1: that is about lifting each other up. Why do you
- 35:55Speaker 1: believe this is the right fit for Sam Franklin in
- 35:58Speaker 1: your six.
- 36:00Speaker 5: Well, I mean to start off year six, I signed
- 36:03Speaker 5: with Denver. You know, prayed about it, felt like God
- 36:07Speaker 5: see me out there, and then you know, ended up
- 36:11Speaker 5: getting cut for the first time of my NFL career,
- 36:14Speaker 5: and you know, I was at a cross worlds to
- 36:17Speaker 5: go back to Carolina or to come out here, and
- 36:19Speaker 5: you know, just through prayer and just taking the leap
- 36:23Speaker 5: of faith, I just felt like, Hey, I'm just gonna
- 36:25Speaker 5: go to the bills and whatever happens happens got out here,
- 36:29Speaker 5: and you know, after the first two weeks it was like,
- 36:31Speaker 5: all right, this could be a place where I can
- 36:33Speaker 5: actually have a home. And then third week, fourth week,
- 36:36Speaker 5: and now just building on it. It's just like, oh,
- 36:38Speaker 5: I love it here. Like I love the guys here,
- 36:41Speaker 5: I love the coaching, I love what they stand for.
- 36:43Speaker 6: I love the city.
- 36:44Speaker 5: So it's just like now it's just me trying to
- 36:46Speaker 5: implement myself in here as much as possible and get
- 36:49Speaker 5: something to where I can be around for a long time.
- 36:52Speaker 1: You said you were cut for the first time in
- 36:53Speaker 1: your NFL career this offseason. How did you deal with that?
- 36:58Speaker 5: To be honest, I really just turned on some Gos's music,
- 37:01Speaker 5: start praying and giving thanks that I even had the
- 37:04Speaker 5: opportunity that was That was the truth.
- 37:07Speaker 6: I was sad.
- 37:08Speaker 5: I'm not gonna add like I wasn't sad. I was
- 37:10Speaker 5: very sad, very emotional, But at the same time, I
- 37:13Speaker 5: just knew that if God got me this far, he'll
- 37:16Speaker 5: keep me going.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a there's a story to everything, and the
- 37:20Speaker 1: right doors are going to be opened when they're supposed
- 37:22Speaker 1: to be opened. And look at you here now thriving
- 37:26Speaker 1: with this team, one of the most important pieces on
- 37:29Speaker 1: our Special Teams unit. Trede Avius White also told me, Maddie,
- 37:33Speaker 1: you have to ask Sam Franklin about.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Our trip to Disney.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Trip to Disney this off season, so I'm going to
- 37:39Speaker 1: ask you about it.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Did Trey have more fun or did his kids?
- 37:44Speaker 6: Ty had more fun than these kids? I know that
- 37:47Speaker 6: for in fact he did.
- 37:49Speaker 5: Trey was already excited, like we're going it is and
- 37:52Speaker 5: we got the passes and we got this.
- 37:54Speaker 6: I'm like, Tray, it's just for you. Are the kids?
- 37:56Speaker 5: He's like, He's like, they're here, ain't they I'm like,
- 37:59Speaker 5: all right, so it's for you basically.
- 38:01Speaker 6: So I mean he had a great time.
- 38:03Speaker 5: We had a great time, great fellowship, our girl, our
- 38:07Speaker 5: copanions got to meet each other. I got to meet
- 38:09Speaker 5: him for the first time and you know, just talking
- 38:12Speaker 5: to him and you know, building relationship. And then and
- 38:16Speaker 5: he saw me when I had dreads. So I come
- 38:18Speaker 5: in and I don't have dreads and I'm like, oh,
- 38:21Speaker 5: that's t White right there. And I walked past him.
- 38:23Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm gonna wait to see if he noticed.
- 38:25Speaker 5: And he looked at me and he like, give me
- 38:28Speaker 5: like one of those and the like all right, I
- 38:29Speaker 5: don't I know him, but I don't know him, and
- 38:31Speaker 5: he kept going.
- 38:32Speaker 6: And then I come back and I'm like, t why
- 38:34Speaker 6: was good? Bro? He was like what was good? And
- 38:36Speaker 6: he like I know. I'm like Disney.
- 38:39Speaker 5: He was like, you cut your hair and I'm like yeah, He's.
- 38:44Speaker 6: Like I knew I knew you.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Bro.
- 38:45Speaker 6: I'm like, well, that's crazy.
- 38:47Speaker 5: You forgot me, but you remember me at the same time,
- 38:49Speaker 5: so okay, but nice because I had longer hair.
- 38:52Speaker 6: So he was just like, I know this person, but
- 38:54Speaker 6: he don't fit what I know.
- 38:56Speaker 5: So that was pretty cool just me got to see
- 38:59Speaker 5: him again and then going through that whole experience.
- 39:02Speaker 1: That is hilarious that he didn't recognize you at first.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Maybe it was been a little cold, Like I know
- 39:08Speaker 2: this guy, but I don't know.
- 39:09Speaker 1: But it's like, oh dang, we actually took a trip
- 39:11Speaker 1: to paint the picture. What is a trip to Disney
- 39:15Speaker 1: like with Sam Franklin and Tredavious White. What are the
- 39:18Speaker 1: rides we're hitting? What are the parks we're hitting? What's
- 39:21Speaker 1: the food we're eating?
- 39:22Speaker 5: Oh man, we're gonna get First of all, you get
- 39:25Speaker 5: the skip pass. Got to skip, you gotta skip the lines.
- 39:28Speaker 5: And if you want to get booze on them, you know,
- 39:30Speaker 5: you get a little guy.
- 39:32Speaker 6: You feel me.
- 39:32Speaker 5: The food is included with the passes, so you just
- 39:35Speaker 5: got to set up a time to go in. So
- 39:38Speaker 5: it's just like for me, it was junk food, you know, fries,
- 39:43Speaker 5: chicken fingers, cakes, you know, all that kind of stuff,
- 39:48Speaker 5: all the drinks that you can have, and then you know,
- 39:51Speaker 5: I ride rides, but I really wasn't even to the rids.
- 39:54Speaker 5: That's more so for the kids. For me, like I'll
- 39:57Speaker 5: get on them with the kids, but I'm not just like,
- 40:00Speaker 5: let's go get on the tallest the tallest roller coaster.
- 40:02Speaker 5: Hear like, nah, none of that for Sam frank Yeah,
- 40:08Speaker 5: that's the fear is overloaded. That's that's not the fear
- 40:11Speaker 5: that I want in my life. Like so, I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 5: other than that, you just go like to have a
- 40:16Speaker 5: good time, be around, be out, get the sunshine.
- 40:20Speaker 6: You know.
- 40:20Speaker 5: I'm from Florida, so like I just wanted to be
- 40:22Speaker 5: in Florida. So being in Florida was the best thing
- 40:25Speaker 5: for me. It wasn't like the rides and then you know,
- 40:28Speaker 5: I didn't rode a lot of rids.
- 40:29Speaker 6: And busch gardens and stuff.
- 40:30Speaker 5: So it was just like the atmosphere of getting to
- 40:32Speaker 5: see all like the characters, you know, talking through movies.
- 40:36Speaker 5: Oh what's your favorite part of that and like stuff
- 40:38Speaker 5: like that. That was like the memorable stuff that we're
- 40:41Speaker 5: going through. And then you know, got to like see
- 40:45Speaker 5: like anime not anime. See I'm so used to animate
- 40:48Speaker 5: cartoons that you didn't seen in a while, Like oh
- 40:51Speaker 5: I remember that movie. Like it's just little stuff like
- 40:53Speaker 5: that to where you was just like ah, being a
- 40:56Speaker 5: kid with so much fun.
- 40:57Speaker 6: Sure, that's that's basically what it was like.
- 41:00Speaker 5: Going to to Disney is like letting the kids have
- 41:04Speaker 5: their dreams. But you get to go back and be
- 41:06Speaker 5: like dang, like I remember being here, I remember this episode,
- 41:10Speaker 5: like remembering your favorite episode.
- 41:11Speaker 6: With all that. That's what Disney was for us, Just
- 41:14Speaker 6: to step back in time.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Let the kids.
- 41:17Speaker 6: Yes, because the kids go to sleep right after you leave.
- 41:19Speaker 6: You get some peace.
- 41:20Speaker 5: Oh my god, the kids after you get home, like
- 41:23Speaker 5: seven o'clock, they sleep for the whole night.
- 41:26Speaker 6: Yeah, no parents, parents, nice to rest.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Yes, you just take a quick second, get your breath
- 41:34Speaker 5: and like whatever sleep we can just you know, chill
- 41:36Speaker 5: by the pool.
- 41:37Speaker 6: And I have to worry about daddy.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Can you give me this?
- 41:41Speaker 6: I had this?
- 41:42Speaker 5: Can we go outside when we're going back to the
- 41:44Speaker 5: park we just left, like all those things you get
- 41:48Speaker 5: to you know, have a good time.
- 41:49Speaker 2: With That's awesome.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I'm glad you had a fun time with Trey White Disney,
- 41:53Speaker 1: and glad you guys are together here in Buffalo and
- 41:56Speaker 1: also happy that you're feeling at home here. That's that's awesome.
- 41:59Speaker 1: That's what everybody wants to hear. And and it seems
- 42:01Speaker 1: like you and.
- 42:02Speaker 6: Guys William, we can go to Disney. I thought we
- 42:04Speaker 6: want the Super Bowl.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Let's do it. We'll say it speaking into the.
- 42:09Speaker 6: I've been saying it all. You don't worry about it.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for the time. Appreciate it.
- 42:12Speaker 5: No, thank you, guys. You guys have a good day.
- 42:15Speaker 5: You catch me out. You didn't see me, you didn't
- 42:18Speaker 5: see him.
- 42:18Speaker 1: We hope you enjoyed that interview with Sam Franklin. Trey
- 42:22Speaker 1: White joins us again for a segment we're calling Ask Trey.
- 42:27Speaker 1: We had some fans submit some questions to you. We're
- 42:30Speaker 1: gonna do this week to week depending on how many
- 42:33Speaker 1: questions we get in, but we have some good ones.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Josh wants to know, Josh, Ye just Josh from Twitter.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Oh, I can make a.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Question off that, Josh Allen, pretend to ask you.
- 42:44Speaker 1: But okay, Josh from Twitter wants to know going back
- 42:48Speaker 1: to the Louisiana roots. Here best gumbo in Louisiana. You
- 42:53Speaker 1: gumbo gumbo guy?
- 42:54Speaker 3: Of course?
- 42:55Speaker 2: Of course I thought you're.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Gonna be like, of course, you got to make it right?
- 43:01Speaker 2: Who makes it right?
- 43:04Speaker 4: Family cooking, I'm gonna have to say because my auntie,
- 43:09Speaker 4: my auntie, Teresa Ruffince.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna drop her name on this.
- 43:14Speaker 4: Teresa Ruffins. She makes the most flavorful like she got
- 43:23Speaker 4: it going on when the gun knows what to do.
- 43:25Speaker 3: She got all the ingredients that sausage and crab.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Legs that everything she put up, she could put crawfish
- 43:33Speaker 4: in there. You know, it's Louisiana. We can mix it
- 43:37Speaker 4: up a little bit. Yeah, we can mix it up
- 43:38Speaker 4: a little bit. But my Auntie, she she makes she
- 43:43Speaker 4: makes some good gumbo. I would say her gumbo, my
- 43:48Speaker 4: aunt Teresa.
- 43:49Speaker 1: That's what Teresa, that's where you get the best gumbo
- 43:52Speaker 1: in Louisiana.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Knock on her door, you go.
- 43:54Speaker 4: To you pull up the street for Louisiana. You want
- 43:56Speaker 4: some of that gumbo? Teresa ruffins and tell me.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Next Okay, I like it.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Next question, Lance wants to know what is your favorite
- 44:06Speaker 1: moment from the d B room so far this season?
- 44:10Speaker 3: Oh?
- 44:13Speaker 2: Oh take this a lot of lot.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Okay, favorite moment. That is why dB Dennis dB Dennis
- 44:26Speaker 3: are great. Oh it's great.
- 44:28Speaker 6: You know.
- 44:29Speaker 3: You know what's crazy though, so we I know this
- 44:32Speaker 3: is off script, so we.
- 44:33Speaker 2: That's where this is supposed to be.
- 44:34Speaker 3: We played Carolina last week, and so after the game,
- 44:38Speaker 3: Kirk Coleman I heard he was there.
- 44:41Speaker 4: He was you know, he gave me a big hook.
- 44:42Speaker 4: The first thing he asks, y'all still doing TB Dennis.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Because someone said that Kirk Coleman is the guy who
- 44:47Speaker 2: started it.
- 44:48Speaker 4: He did when he came here from Carolina. When he
- 44:50Speaker 4: came here in twenty nineteen, he started the dB Dennis
- 44:53Speaker 4: and those things are still.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Going That's the first thing he asked. That's the first
- 44:57Speaker 3: thing he asked me. You still do?
- 44:59Speaker 4: This is our dB dinner is still going on. Curtis
- 45:02Speaker 4: one of like one of those most mellow you know.
- 45:05Speaker 4: But he's very serious about those DV dennis. And he
- 45:08Speaker 4: said he's coming to a game and he's going to
- 45:10Speaker 4: come on Thursday, okay for DV.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Dinners putting to the d Dennis. Wow, so everybody can
- 45:15Speaker 3: take notes.
- 45:16Speaker 1: He's going to be in the background, like I'm just
- 45:18Speaker 1: gonna sit off to the side and take notes on
- 45:19Speaker 1: how this DV dinner.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Everybody better show up to that.
- 45:22Speaker 1: One okay, one more question. Sean wants to know we're
- 45:27Speaker 1: talking LSU. Okay, Sean mcderman wants to know. Sean from
- 45:32Speaker 1: Twitter wants to know we're going to l s U.
- 45:36Speaker 1: All right, things are happening at LSU part ways with
- 45:40Speaker 1: their head coach, Brian Kelly. He wants to know who
- 45:45Speaker 1: do you think would be a good.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Next coach for l s U. If you don't have
- 45:50Speaker 2: any names here.
- 45:51Speaker 1: You can just identify important principles and a head coach.
- 45:55Speaker 3: I don't have any names, but.
- 45:59Speaker 4: I know what you gotta have, at least I think
- 46:02Speaker 4: from my experience from being there.
- 46:05Speaker 3: You gotta connect with the people.
- 46:07Speaker 4: You gotta have the people on your back, gotta have
- 46:10Speaker 4: the people on your side.
- 46:13Speaker 3: You gotta be in with with with the youngsters.
- 46:17Speaker 4: You gotta love that crawfish, that gumbo, that a two
- 46:21Speaker 4: fa that how oysters charge rilled of course, but you
- 46:30Speaker 4: just gotta have You just gotta have that that that
- 46:32Speaker 4: that I just can't just like I can't put it
- 46:36Speaker 4: into words, like you gotta have that that that swag
- 46:39Speaker 4: about you, Like you're recruiting in Louisiana, You're recruiting in
- 46:42Speaker 4: the South, so you gotta have you gotta have a
- 46:44Speaker 4: little bit of you know what I mean, Southern Twain
- 46:47Speaker 4: to you. And that's that's one of the jobs where
- 46:50Speaker 4: it's like you got the best players in your backyard.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Yeah it's not.
- 46:57Speaker 4: You never never going to have a shortage of talent,
- 47:01Speaker 4: Oh my goodness, Like and it's just the support you're
- 47:05Speaker 4: gonna get.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Like, man, it's so much I can say.
- 47:12Speaker 1: But you have a lot of pride for you where
- 47:15Speaker 1: you went to goodness, tell there's a lot of passion
- 47:19Speaker 1: behind choosing the right person and also feeling like, hey.
- 47:23Speaker 3: You don't understand I can come back here.
- 47:25Speaker 1: With my teammates and feel like I'm proud of what's
- 47:29Speaker 1: going on right now.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Man, you don't understand how serious this is.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Like, I you cut this open, It's got some little
- 47:39Speaker 4: purple and goal in there. Man, this is what I'm saying.
- 47:41Speaker 4: So it's like on Saturdays for the game, you know
- 47:45Speaker 4: how to goes, tell us you short. So I'm wearing
- 47:48Speaker 4: them to the plane if we got away game when
- 47:50Speaker 4: the under whatever, I'm winning to the plane. We get
- 47:53Speaker 4: to the hotel, I'm in my room. If LSU is on,
- 47:58Speaker 4: all the curtains are blacked out, every nothing, nobody phone on,
- 48:04Speaker 4: do not distirt. Wow, l s U sharts are own
- 48:07Speaker 4: locked in.
- 48:08Speaker 3: L s U Hoodie is on.
- 48:11Speaker 6: The game.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Look they know I'm locked in.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Like so so when it comes to the coach, like
- 48:19Speaker 4: we're so invested, like it's just the alumni, former players,
- 48:23Speaker 4: like it's it's a it's a big deal, a huge deal.
- 48:27Speaker 4: So whoever comes in, like we know those guys are
- 48:30Speaker 4: gonna hire the best guy that they can get. But
- 48:33Speaker 4: whoever comes in, Like, you know, you're gonna have the players,
- 48:35Speaker 4: You have the support of the former players. You're gonna
- 48:39Speaker 4: have a support of just you know, the fan base,
- 48:41Speaker 4: the state of Louisiana. I swear like l s U football,
- 48:48Speaker 4: when the sun shines at Louisiana, they don't care about
- 48:52Speaker 4: nothing else but the Buffalo. They don't care about the Saint.
- 48:59Speaker 4: They love the Saints a lot of sayings, but I'm
- 49:00Speaker 4: telling you, the mood a little different when it comes
- 49:03Speaker 4: to the.
- 49:03Speaker 3: L SU football.
- 49:05Speaker 2: It just means more l SU.
- 49:07Speaker 3: It just means more in Louisiana. But we're gonna get
- 49:12Speaker 3: it right.
- 49:13Speaker 2: I know that we're gonna keep this conversation going.
- 49:15Speaker 1: We get it as we hear some names pop up,
- 49:18Speaker 1: as LSU makes a decision to hire whoever it's gonna be.
- 49:23Speaker 1: But to close this out, Trey's gonna hit us with
- 49:27Speaker 1: some words of wisdom.
- 49:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, so I've been thinking about this, Buffalo. Do
- 49:36Speaker 4: not let your happy things destroy your happiness. That's deep.
- 49:44Speaker 4: Don't let your happy things destroy your happiness. You gotta
- 49:49Speaker 4: think about this again. Don't let your happy things destroy
- 49:53Speaker 4: your happiness. You can think about it like you can
- 49:57Speaker 4: wake up and you cannot have Josh Allen as your quarterback.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Don't say that.
- 50:01Speaker 4: I'm just saying for the people. You know you're having
- 50:03Speaker 4: a bad day. If you're having a bad day, were
- 50:07Speaker 4: waking up to Josh Aden as our quarterback, and we
- 50:10Speaker 4: can go out there on any day and bust to
- 50:12Speaker 4: a table. So don't let your happenings destroy your happiness.
- 50:18Speaker 4: I like it.
- 50:19Speaker 1: It's gonna echo through my brain throughout the week. Don't
- 50:22Speaker 1: want my happenings destroy my happiness. Happiness comes first. Yes,
- 50:27Speaker 1: to be happy about here in Buffalo.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Yes, we waking up. We have Josh Allens our corner back.
- 50:33Speaker 3: You know how much happening is that brain? You know
- 50:35Speaker 3: how much we have doctor King Kate. You know how
- 50:38Speaker 3: much happiness that brings to me. We have James. We
- 50:41Speaker 3: have the cookie in the back man, the cookie man,
- 50:45Speaker 3: the cookie. Speaking of that, have you ever tried one
- 50:47Speaker 3: of It's so good man. He's cooking the cookie, cooking.
- 50:51Speaker 2: He's got cookies.
- 50:52Speaker 3: He got cookies. We got Spencer Brown. So, like I said,
- 51:00Speaker 3: don't let your happenings destroy your happiness.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Wow, mic Drop, that's we're gonna leave it here.
- 51:06Speaker 1: In our first edition of Trade Time, Davy is White
- 51:10Speaker 1: take it over.
