- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So today I want to tell you one
- 0:32of my favorite quotes from Theodore Roosevelt.
- 0:34It's hard to fail, but it's worse to have never tried.
- 0:38And I love this quote so much. Well, first of all, he was such
- 0:41a great leader and he had such great attitudes toward things.
- 0:43But this particular quote is so awesome because it's one of
- 0:47those things that we we constantly want to believe in
- 0:51ourselves that we'll keep doing and we'll keep making attempts
- 0:54and we'll keep making attempts. But the truth is we give up way
- 0:56too easy on things. And it's something that I, one
- 1:00of the things I recognize out in my chicken coop that I just love
- 1:03because the all like all these little baby chickens that are
- 1:06out here, they just don't give up.
- 1:07They just keep doing it. They try to get up to the
- 1:09rafters, they try to get up the in the coop higher where the big
- 1:12girls go, they can't do it. They just keep trying.
- 1:15If it doesn't happen on Wednesday, they'll try again
- 1:17Thursday. If it doesn't happen Thursday,
- 1:19they'll try it on Friday. They just don't give up.
- 1:21And I think that sometimes as human beings, we become
- 1:24conditioned to say, well, I tried and I tried three times
- 1:28and I give up. And it it really is a question
- 1:32of how much fortitude do you have?
- 1:35Are you willing to say I don't have to try something just once,
- 1:38twice, 5 *? I I'm willing to keep going if
- 1:41it's something that you believe in and it's something that you
- 1:43really want. You know, when you think about
- 1:48the the things that have gone on the inventors in this world that
- 1:52have done things over and over and over and had multiple
- 1:55failures until they had them work, they just were so
- 1:59committed to their outcome, they would just keep going.
- 2:01And it didn't matter how many times, whether it's you're
- 2:05talking about Edison and the light bulb.
- 2:07I mean, he failed 1000 times according to the reporter that
- 2:11was interviewing him. And the truth was when Edison
- 2:15heard that, he said no, no, no, I didn't fail.
- 2:17I just found out what didn't work literally 1000 times to get
- 2:21it right. How many of you would be
- 2:23actually willing to say you've tried something 1000 times it it
- 2:28just doesn't happen. We just don't consider it and
- 2:31keep doing it. What we do is we say, OK, well I
- 2:33tried that 10 times and it didn't work out for me.
- 2:35So therefore, I'm not going to do it instead of just saying,
- 2:40hey, you know what, this is something I'm really committed
- 2:42to and I'm going to make it work whatever I have to do.
- 2:46And that's the part that's so important, it's that you got to
- 2:49keep going and you got to keep saying, if I really am
- 2:52passionate about this is this is something that I really want,
- 2:55then I have to make sure I'm willing to keep giving it a
- 2:58shot. So sometimes we have to add,
- 3:02this is one of those moments where you actually have to look
- 3:04at your goal again and go, well, am I really committed to this?
- 3:06Is it something I really want? Is it something that somebody
- 3:09else wanted for me? Because sometimes we just aren't
- 3:11as committed as we think we are because it wasn't something we
- 3:13wanted to begin with. So again, this is all back to
- 3:17that original piece about finding out what is it that you,
- 3:22you know, have as a level of commitment.
- 3:24Are are you 100% in or are you 75% in?
- 3:27Because I can assure you on things that I'm 75% in on or 60%
- 3:31in on. I'm not pushing the gamut.
- 3:34I'm not going out there and going all in.
- 3:37But when I want something, I am relentless.
- 3:40And I think that's the exact word my husband uses for me
- 3:43because he'll say, Oh my God, you just don't quit.
- 3:46Well, it's because I'm 100%, I'm all in.
- 3:51But how many things are like that?
- 3:52There are some things in our world that we're just not all in
- 3:55on. And it shows up in these moments
- 3:58when we have these types of situations where I don't know,
- 4:01am I all in or not. So going back and trying to
- 4:05figure out, you know, is that the reason is incredibly
- 4:10important in the process and recognizing even before you
- 4:13start something where your level of commitment is because it's
- 4:18not about failure, it's about saying I'm committed and I'm
- 4:22going to do it. And just like this quote, it's
- 4:24like you've got to try those things that are are a passion
- 4:28for you. You got to go out there and say
- 4:30I'm willing to pour into it because I am 100% in.
- 4:34I want this. I'm going to do what it takes.
- 4:37I am so attaching my name to this.
- 4:40I'm going to go out there and go nuts making it happen.
- 4:46Those things excite you, they exhilarate you, they pour into
- 4:49your soul and they just make you feel amazing.
- 4:52You know, if somebody right now that I'm coaching that's writing
- 4:55a book. And writing a book is a very
- 4:59long endeavour for a lot of people, and for some people it
- 5:02comes easier than others. But I can tell you that because
- 5:05the process is such a hard and difficult one, oftentimes it
- 5:09gets very stretched out and then your intention and your energy
- 5:13wanes during the process. And I have to keep coming back
- 5:18to basics and saying with him, OK, what excites you about this?
- 5:23What are those things that light you up so that he can come back
- 5:27and say, wait, I'm not giving up.
- 5:29I I'm in this, I'm doing this. I'm going to make this happen
- 5:33because I want to be the person that that didn't give it up on
- 5:37it because so many people have an unwritten book.
- 5:39You might be listening to this right now and be saying to
- 5:41yourself, I'm this person she's talking about because it's a
- 5:44it's one of those things that so many people want to do, but they
- 5:47don't do it. So if you are in this process
- 5:50and you are writing a book and you haven't done it because
- 5:54you're just, you know, not excited about it anymore, you
- 5:58haven't been associated to it in a while, but you still want to
- 6:01do it and it's still a passion. This is where you have to jump
- 6:03in and say to yourself, you know what, It's far worse to know
- 6:07that I just gave up and didn't even try than it is to do it and
- 6:13fail and have it. Just like, you know, who cares?
- 6:17Who cares? A failure is the giving up
- 6:22process. So put yourself out there,
- 6:26really check in with yourself and recognize I'm not going to
- 6:30give up. I'm going to go after what I
- 6:32want. So write the damn book.
- 6:34Do the things that make you feel excited and exhilarated and
- 6:38hopefully this was a good kick in the butt this morning and I
- 6:41will see you tomorrow.
