- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you want a frappuccino or not? It's one more thing.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I'm one more.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Or do you say frappy? I don't say frappy. It's
- 0:11Speaker 1: like pee, don't crappy. I don't say frappy or shardy.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I've known one guy who said shardi and.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Could pull it off.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Is a unique guy.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It takes a certain sort of person. Yeah, yeah, yes,
- 0:29Speaker 1: that was taking me a second. Okay, got it? Do
- 0:33Speaker 1: uh is this first one? Need any set up here,
- 0:35Speaker 1: Michael before we get to the uh frappuccino?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Now, let me just I'll explain it a little bit.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Just a couple goes into a Starbucks and.
- 0:43Speaker 1: No, we're doing the other one. Man.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Oh I am sorry, No, this one doesn't actually Okay,
- 0:48Speaker 3: here we go.
- 0:50Speaker 4: There are definitely two opinions about grandmother showers. Opinion one,
- 0:54Speaker 4: grandmother showers are a lovely way to welcome a friend
- 0:58Speaker 4: or coworker into their new role. Opinion too, granny showers
- 1:02Speaker 4: are inappropriate and tacky gift grabs. So which is it?
- 1:07Speaker 4: If a group of coworkers gets together and has a
- 1:09Speaker 4: lunch where they celebrate someone becoming a new grandmother, it's
- 1:13Speaker 4: a lovely way to welcome somebody to this new stage
- 1:16Speaker 4: of life. But when the grandmother shower rivals the shower
- 1:20Speaker 4: for the actual parents, that's where it crosses a line.
- 1:25Speaker 1: That's grandmother's shower etiquette. We talked about the grandmother's shower
- 1:28Speaker 1: becoming a thing last week. I've been complaining, partially because
- 1:33Speaker 1: it's ended the school year's season of just there's too
- 1:35Speaker 1: many celebrations now events, too many events.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Everybody is supposed to go to all of them. A
- 1:42Speaker 2: six year old's birthday party? Is that excuse for forty
- 1:44Speaker 2: adults to get together or whatever?
- 1:46Speaker 1: The gathering that happened near me the other day for
- 1:49Speaker 1: some girl because she's getting out of fifth grade? So
- 1:52Speaker 1: has everybody got a Am I a bad person if
- 1:55Speaker 1: I don't go? Great? You got up high school graduation,
- 1:58Speaker 1: big deal, all the other ones for you and your family.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Do whatever you want, But I ain't coming.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah with gifts too, Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And gifts. Is it a gift crap or all these
- 2:08Speaker 1: gift grap I think it's I think it's the whole
- 2:10Speaker 1: extroverts rule of the world thing. Any reason to get
- 2:13Speaker 1: together and have a celebration and put on fancy clothes
- 2:16Speaker 1: and stand around and talk and drink any from more
- 2:18Speaker 1: than merry or noting. No, your kid moved on from
- 2:22Speaker 1: eighth grade, fantastic. I ain't coming to your house now.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Granted I'm a bitter missing thrope and have been for
- 2:27Speaker 2: you know, practically my entire life. But the idea that
- 2:30Speaker 2: all of my parents' friends should gather and celebrate me
- 2:34Speaker 2: graduating from high school, why that's what I was supposed
- 2:38Speaker 2: to do. I showed up to class, I got decent grades.
- 2:40Speaker 2: They gave me a diploma which I'll never look at again.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Why are we having a party. It's like a giant Look,
- 2:45Speaker 2: Joe isn't an f up party. Look he did it?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I My son played in the band for the
- 2:56Speaker 1: seniors graduating for his high school. They played pomp and
- 2:58Speaker 1: circumstance over and over again, like you do when you're
- 3:00Speaker 1: in the band. But I pulled up to pick him up,
- 3:03Speaker 1: and the crowd there because the graduating classes is a
- 3:06Speaker 1: small schools like the same size as my graduating class,
- 3:09Speaker 1: and there were five times as many people there, so
- 3:13Speaker 1: it just extended family more. Just you gotta treat it
- 3:18Speaker 1: that way. I guess when when I graduated, I think
- 3:21Speaker 1: it was mostly just Mountain's dads. So you got any students,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you got one hundred and sixty parents.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You go on your way, giant celebration for everything, for
- 3:31Speaker 2: every most of the grindstone. Just do what you're supposed
- 3:33Speaker 2: to do. Yeah, anyway, but again I think you nailed it.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Extraverse rule of world.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, they figured out that gender reveal parties can be
- 3:41Speaker 1: a thing, another reason for a party. Not just the
- 3:44Speaker 1: husband and wife on their own, get the news and
- 3:48Speaker 1: maybe clink glasses or something. I don't know, but make
- 3:52Speaker 1: a party out of it.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Introverts of the world unite. But I can't make it
- 3:57Speaker 2: that night.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I can't be there either send me a text or
- 4:01Speaker 1: don't know it goes. So this one you can set
- 4:03Speaker 1: up here. What's the Starbucks situation? Michael?
- 4:05Speaker 3: The Starbucks situation is a couple goes into Starbucks, and
- 4:08Speaker 3: so it's a husband and wife and the husband has
- 4:10Speaker 3: a medical emergency and it gets handled very poorly.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Okay, I could have possibly blacked out.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It could have had a more dramatic impact on my body.
- 4:19Speaker 2: My kidneys could have possibly just shut down.
- 4:22Speaker 5: And he just started sweating. He's like, I don't feel well.
- 4:25Speaker 5: He started leaning over and then he started vomiting. I
- 4:28Speaker 5: was frantic. I think I was crying at that point.
- 4:31Speaker 5: The employee looked at me and was like, you need
- 4:33Speaker 5: to get in line. And then I repeated what I said.
- 4:36Speaker 5: I'm like, well, my husband he's in kiddy so you
- 4:38Speaker 5: we just need ice water quickly. And he looked at
- 4:40Speaker 5: me again and was like, you need to get in line.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Starbucks had a decision that day to pick policy or humanity,
- 4:47Speaker 5: and they chose policy.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Wow. Uh, that's well, there might be some might be
- 4:54Speaker 1: on some of the training, but you got a poor
- 4:56Speaker 1: employee there who would not hand an ice water to
- 4:59Speaker 1: the person who who says, on having kidney failure.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I will be standing for the defense in a moment. Yes, certainly,
- 5:08Speaker 2: that's my husband right there. He's in stage four kidney failure.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I just need water fast for him. You need to
- 5:13Speaker 2: get in line. But my husband, he's in kidney failure.
- 5:16Speaker 2: We just need to ice water quickly. You need to
- 5:18Speaker 2: get in line. H nightmarish, terrible bad employee. On the
- 5:24Speaker 2: other hand.
- 5:25Speaker 1: They sell bottled water there. I would have just grabbed
- 5:27Speaker 1: a bottle of water and given it to him.
- 5:29Speaker 2: That's what I'm be right back. Yeah, uh yeah. On
- 5:33Speaker 2: the one hand. He seems like a monster. He seems
- 5:36Speaker 2: like an inhuman monster, a bitter human being, a shadow
- 5:39Speaker 2: of a human. Really, ladies and gentlemen of the jury.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But I need to point out he got that way
- 5:44Speaker 2: by dealing with the public, who probably constantly cut in
- 5:48Speaker 2: line and lie. And you deal with the public for
- 5:53Speaker 2: ten minutes. Man, you hate him.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's like the third person that day that told him
- 5:57Speaker 1: they're having kidney failure. He's not doing this, I say.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Jest, ladies and gentlemen of the joy that he was
- 6:03Speaker 2: driven to that, apparently, and human behavior by the India,
- 6:07Speaker 2: you made behavior of the public.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, get behind the lady who says she's got eye
- 6:12Speaker 1: cancer and the other gun one who's got pancreatic cancer.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And I'll get you your stuff as I can, all right.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And I heard on the radio it was fifty percent
- 6:20Speaker 2: off for grandmothers today.
- 6:21Speaker 1: What get in line? My coffee's too hot.
- 6:26Speaker 2: My coffee is too cold.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Everybody shut up. I have never done a public job, really.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I worked at a hardware store for a while, but
- 6:39Speaker 1: I mostly sorted nails and assembled ceiling fans. I've never
- 6:43Speaker 1: really had a job where you worked with the public.
- 6:45Speaker 1: And I've been told before. If that's in fact, I
- 6:48Speaker 1: had a someone say to me one time, that's why
- 6:50Speaker 1: you are the way you are, that I would be
- 6:53Speaker 1: a much better person if I'd ever had one job
- 6:55Speaker 1: where I worked at the public which might be true.
- 6:59Speaker 2: So after being turned away at Starbucks and Elisa, which
- 7:02Speaker 2: is the wife, ran into Capital One Cafe and an
- 7:06Speaker 2: employee acted quickly to get a cup of ice water. Okay,
- 7:09Speaker 2: so that went well. So of course, the head of
- 7:13Speaker 2: retail bank Channels in Operations at Capital One has made
- 7:16Speaker 2: a statement, Charst and foremost, we're glad the person facing
- 7:21Speaker 2: a medical emergency is doing much better. We're proud of
- 7:24Speaker 2: the way our Capital One Cafe ambassadors handle themselves each
- 7:27Speaker 2: and every day. Doing the right thing is one of
- 7:30Speaker 2: our Capital one values, and we believe that shows up
- 7:33Speaker 2: in the work we do day in and day a.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Parent Bank one Trust, we take kidney failure seriously and
- 7:38Speaker 1: anybody needing liquid will always get it and a good
- 7:41Speaker 1: interest rate on their home at Bank One Trust or
- 7:43Speaker 1: whatever we're called.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to open up
- 7:46Speaker 2: accounts for people who didn't ask for them and charge
- 7:49Speaker 2: them fees. Actually, I have no evidence that capital one
- 7:53Speaker 2: ever engaged in any activity anything like that.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Who did that? That was Wells Fargo, Right, Wells Fargo.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Oh my god, mean file back.
- 8:00Speaker 2: It's Starbucks, okay, for they just as soon kick in
- 8:04Speaker 2: a face is give you a sip of water.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Uh.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Sam Jeffries with Starbucks Media Starbucks Media Relations sent this statement.
- 8:12Speaker 2: We've been in touch with this customer over the past
- 8:14Speaker 2: few weeks to listen, apologize, and make this right, and
- 8:18Speaker 2: we hope to welcome them back to a store of
- 8:20Speaker 2: their choice to give them the Starbucks experience they should expect.
- 8:25Speaker 2: As we continue to train our partners on the new
- 8:27Speaker 2: code of conduct we're working to ensure blah blah, great
- 8:31Speaker 2: experience blah blah, communicate openly blah, kindness blah consideration blah
- 8:37Speaker 2: outside of our policies blah blah blah blah blah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: All the poor baristas that are now are going to
- 8:42Speaker 1: get some sort of long training where actors. I've got
- 8:46Speaker 1: kidney failure. What should Madison do when she finds out
- 8:50Speaker 1: a customer has kidney failure? A mock him, B, get
- 8:54Speaker 1: him a nice cold water, or c tell them to
- 8:56Speaker 1: get back in line.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I'm saying, hey, get a kidney. I'm sorry that answer
- 9:02Speaker 2: was incorrect. You need to retake this module.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Way to have bad kidneys? What what I said, Well,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I guess that's it.
