- 0:13Speaker 1: more time partner, Steve Harvey got a radio show.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Man.
- 0:19Speaker 1: How amazing is that? How good has God been to me?
- 0:25Speaker 1: How good has He been to you? Just check yourself sometimes,
- 0:30Speaker 1: just sit up and just just run a survey. Just
- 0:33Speaker 1: look at your life where it's at. That might not
- 0:35Speaker 1: be where you want it to be, but that's probably
- 0:37Speaker 1: some decisions you made. But really, though, in spite of
- 0:41Speaker 1: all the crazy mistakes I don't made. I mean, man,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I I I look back at some of the decisions
- 0:49Speaker 1: I done came up with and and man, it's it's
- 0:51Speaker 1: it's just amazing.
- 0:52Speaker 2: He let me live. I mean, it's it's and and and.
- 0:56Speaker 1: To exist the way I exist, that's nothing but grace, mercy,
- 1:00Speaker 1: favor all that is. That's what my mama praying for
- 1:03Speaker 1: me when I wasn't praying for myself. It had to
- 1:06Speaker 1: be it, because man, I can truly tell you I
- 1:09Speaker 1: have made enough mistakes man, stuff you would never even
- 1:13Speaker 1: know about, and recovered from them all you can too.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And I don't care what you've done.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Marvin Sap has a song out that says he saw
- 1:24Speaker 1: the best in me when everyone else around me could
- 1:28Speaker 1: only see the worst in me. You know, that's an
- 1:31Speaker 1: important song man especially. You know. I want to talk
- 1:36Speaker 1: to men today because man, being a man is so
- 1:43Speaker 1: so difficult. Please know it has been my quest ever
- 1:49Speaker 1: since I was a little boy. My father had one ambition, son,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I don't care what you do, but when I get
- 1:57Speaker 1: through raising you, you will be a man. That's all
- 2:00Speaker 1: I want you to be. And he never cared what
- 2:02Speaker 1: I did for a living. It never made a difference
- 2:04Speaker 1: to him. You're going to be a man. Manhood is
- 2:07Speaker 1: difficult now, ladies just listening to this, I'm not saying
- 2:11Speaker 1: womanhood ain't. I don't know what it takes to be
- 2:14Speaker 1: a woman, so you know, but I do know exactly
- 2:17Speaker 1: what it takes to be a man. So you know,
- 2:20Speaker 1: sometimes when you talk to people on the radio, you
- 2:23Speaker 1: have to preface things because people are just going he
- 2:26Speaker 1: trying to make it look like womanhood ain't. No, That's
- 2:28Speaker 1: not what I'm doing. I'm just talking to men today
- 2:31Speaker 1: to explain to them that they ain't by theyself and
- 2:34Speaker 1: struggling trying to figure this thing out that you are
- 2:37Speaker 1: not alone in your quest for manhood. That is difficult,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, man manhood is that kind of difficult,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and it becomes even more compounded if a young boy
- 2:51Speaker 1: does not have a male role model.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I've said it a thousand times. I'll say it again.
- 2:57Speaker 2: A young boy without a male role model is like
- 3:00Speaker 2: an explorer without a map. Well, I have a suggestion
- 3:04Speaker 2: for everybody that's struggling with manhood and all of the
- 3:07Speaker 2: men out there that are men. This messages for all
- 3:10Speaker 2: of us, and it's for me too. You know.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I was listening to George Myers the other day and
- 3:16Speaker 1: she made a statement. She said, sometimes you got to
- 3:19Speaker 1: do the right thing, even when it feels wrong.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:23Speaker 1: One of the difficulties of manhood is peer pressure and
- 3:30Speaker 1: the misguided principles of manhood. See what God wants us
- 3:36Speaker 1: to be as men and what we believe manhood is
- 3:40Speaker 1: is sometimes two different things. I'll give you an example.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I wrote this book for women, right and I was
- 3:47Speaker 1: telling them the three ways that a man shows his love,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and I call them three p's. We profess, we protect,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and we provide. Every man who is a man that's
- 3:59Speaker 1: how he exhibits love. We're not talkie talkie comforting. Were
- 4:03Speaker 1: not great nurturists. But when it comes down to it,
- 4:06Speaker 1: what we all want to do, what is in our DNA,
- 4:09Speaker 1: is to profess our love for something you as a woman,
- 4:13Speaker 1: to protect you as a woman, and to provide for
- 4:15Speaker 1: you as a woman. That's in our DNA. Now, sometimes
- 4:18Speaker 1: that gets messed up, and I'll give you an example.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Sometimes when a boy doesn't have the proper, real role
- 4:25Speaker 1: model in his life, he takes that principle of love
- 4:28Speaker 1: that we all possessing us every man, the professing part,
- 4:31Speaker 1: the protecting, and the providing part, and we misplay it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: That's why gangs exist. Gangs exist off those three principles.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What's the first thing a gang member do. He professed,
- 4:44Speaker 1: He claim a hood.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's the first thing you do. This is my neighborhood.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm deuce Trey, I'm triple h sh, I'm doop de doop,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I'm purple, I'm red, I'm blue. The first thing they
- 4:55Speaker 1: do is claim. That's professing. That's how we show our love.
- 4:58Speaker 1: But it's misguided though. Now we're professing something that ain't
- 5:03Speaker 1: even good for us. Your hood your gang, your click. Now,
- 5:06Speaker 1: guess what now we got to protect it. So now
- 5:12Speaker 1: as a protection part of our love, here we go.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You come down here, We're gonna do this to you.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You go over there, they gonna do that to you.
- 5:21Speaker 1: You protect your hood, this your turf, this all you got.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Ain't nobody coming down here with blue on. Can't nobody
- 5:26Speaker 1: come over here with red on. You can't come over
- 5:27Speaker 1: here with purple on. You can't come over here with
- 5:29Speaker 1: black and gold on. And we and we protect that
- 5:32Speaker 1: because that's in our DNA. And then what's the third
- 5:36Speaker 1: thing we provide? So guess what the gang need money?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Guess what we do. We're selling drugs, were selling women,
- 5:43Speaker 1: we're selling guns.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It go back to the same thing. Man.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I don't know how God gave it to me that
- 5:50Speaker 1: way when I was writing a book, but he showed
- 5:52Speaker 1: it to me along the way. That's how men love
- 5:54Speaker 1: well when you don't have a role model in your life.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Guess what now? That love is misplaced, is misguided, is
- 6:00Speaker 1: off track? Ain't no man told you that. Really you're
- 6:03Speaker 1: supposed to take this love and give it to a woman.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You're really supposed to profess, protect and provide for a woman,
- 6:09Speaker 1: not your gang set. Now you professing your hood, repping
- 6:13Speaker 1: a color, you protecting your territory, shooting people driving by
- 6:17Speaker 1: coming over you on your street, and then you provide.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Now you're out here selling drugs and guns for the
- 6:21Speaker 2: same thing.
- 6:22Speaker 1: When a boy does not have a male role model,
- 6:25Speaker 1: he has a misguided way of looking at manhood. Here's
- 6:30Speaker 1: the deal. See, God created all of us in his image.
- 6:34Speaker 1: That means he's put some of our DNA in him.
- 6:38Speaker 1: That's why it's in your DNA to profess, protect, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: provide because guess what, that's what God do for us,
- 6:45Speaker 1: because we His children. I'm just talking to men right now.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I'm just telling you, man, I had to wake up
- 6:51Speaker 1: about five years ago. I wasn't doing what God wanted
- 6:54Speaker 1: me to do, and then he shook me. He said, Man,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring about some changes in your life. I'm
- 7:00Speaker 1: gonna cause some things to happen that's gonna put you
- 7:03Speaker 1: in a position. And this time you're gonna listen to me,
- 7:06Speaker 1: because if you don't, you're gonna keep living in this
- 7:08Speaker 1: pain you've been in. But you put yourself in this pain.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I owe no blame to no one else but myself. Please, No,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I know that. And that's how you really get to
- 7:18Speaker 1: manhood when you figure out what you'd be done wrong.
- 7:21Speaker 1: You can't blame this on none of your exes because
- 7:23Speaker 1: you a man. You can't go my xd this. No, No,
- 7:26Speaker 1: you a man, partner. You got to take responsibility for
- 7:29Speaker 1: yours and yours alone. If you got kids, you got
- 7:33Speaker 1: to get to them some kind of way. Write them
- 7:36Speaker 1: a letter, send them the money. If she won't let
- 7:38Speaker 1: you see it, for the money, whatever, send the money
- 7:41Speaker 1: to a mama. Do what you're supposed to do as
- 7:43Speaker 1: a man. Do what God wants you to do, man,
- 7:46Speaker 1: because he's not letting us off the hook for what
- 7:49Speaker 1: we're supposed to be just because you ain't doing it.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And if you do it, you turn your life around.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Just hollering at the fellas today, that's all. Sorry about that.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You're listening to the Eb Harvey Morning Show.
