- 0:18meet you. Yeah, good to finally meet you. We've spoken a bit
- 0:21and now it's now this face to face thing. It'll be all a bit
- 0:25weird, I believe. I'm just noticing you've got a Richmond fucking jumper on.
- 0:31I probably shouldn't have warn it. It's probably not not the ideal thing,
- 0:34but it was a bit cold. You lucky I like him already,
- 0:36Otherwise I'll probably be hanging up on you. Who are you for it?
- 0:42I'm ancedent man, Mad bomb our drummer Nick is Mad Bombers, so you
- 0:49and him will get along, get along really well. I've got the Corey
- 0:53Taylor underneath if all right? That's that's that's the saving grace. Corey Taylor
- 0:58is probably one of my favorites. So you've just made well done. Suiciety
- 1:03released your latest four track EP, Reincarnated, back on April the eight Ads
- 1:07made Like I know, it hasn't been that long since it has come out,
- 1:08but how's the early reception been for it? It's been really really nice.
- 1:15We've had some really good feedback sort of from you know, a long
- 1:19time, long suffering fans have have been really just just so supportive of us
- 1:29that they've really stuck with us over the over the early year journey that we've
- 1:34had, and yeah, it's been it's been really really positive. Yeah,
- 1:41I couldn't be couldn't be happier, to be honest with With the feedback,
- 1:45I haven't haven't had much negativity. It's just been it's been all positive,
- 1:49you know. Yeah, I just I can't say enough good about people liking
- 1:57it. Very good, very good. So tell us a bit more about
- 2:00the EP from a musical point of view and what you were going for with
- 2:02it lyrically, because I wrote the lyrics and vocals. I had this whole
- 2:15we had this whole sort of horror theme that was that was running through since
- 2:21we did the single Helio Therapy, which we released just towards the end of
- 2:25last year, and that had like a vampire theme which was sort of an
- 2:31analogy for depression. But I had this whole whole horror, like traditional horror.
- 2:38We're all into like old horror films and big fans of that, and
- 2:43I'm a huge Stephen King fan as well. I collect his books and you
- 2:47know, seen all the films in the series and whatnot, And I think
- 2:53the horror sort of theme as an analogy just sort of kept coming through the
- 2:58lyrics. So after we released Heliotherapy, which was also produced and mixed by
- 3:07d W. Norton from Super Highst. I might add he's a great guy,
- 3:12we continued on with that horror theme and songs like Green Mile and and
- 3:22a couple of the others. They just really had this this like sort of
- 3:25gothic horror theme, whether it's sci fi or or or horror, and it
- 3:32came across quite quite gothic. And then a few comments have been made by
- 3:39museo friends of ours that it's it's got Alice Cooper vibes, and I'm like,
- 3:45there's a nothing with that man comes the wrong at all, which is
- 3:51which is kind of strange for us, I guess because it's something we would
- 3:55have never thought of as when we were when we were writing it, when
- 4:00we were recording it. Because musically we've we've written across across oceans and across
- 4:08highways. We're not in the same room at the same time, which is
- 4:14which is new for us with all this as we were discussing before all the
- 4:18technology, you know, Dropbox has become our friend, you know, like
- 4:25all that sort of stuff as sending files and raised in Spain with his family
- 4:30and and you know we all live sort of all over town and and we've
- 4:38all got you kids and whatnot, so it's kind of hard to get in
- 4:42a room. But the guys we just trust each other with our roles and
- 4:49and it's actually it was a really nice way to record it. And yeah,
- 4:54and for me, I just just kept these horror themes kept coming up
- 4:58with lyrically. But the all an analogy for for you know, feelings and
- 5:04you know, commenting on society and things like that. But just with using
- 5:11using that as a as a as an analogy. As I said. So
- 5:15yeah, wait, now there's only four songs on the eb mate, so
- 5:19I want to run through them individually and you can tell us a bit more
- 5:23about him. So it starts with Balloons twenty seven years. Yes, Balloons
- 5:28is a is about Penny Wise from it. So yeah, there's just I
- 5:38suppose talking about the societal aspect. You know, I'm looking after kids,
- 5:45it's all about it's all about family and about children. And I think that's
- 5:49where, you know, Stephen King is great, that the fact that he
- 5:54puts the fear of God into you because he uses a lot of children in
- 5:57his in his stories. And I think, I don't know that just that
- 6:01just came through for me because with with Pennywise, he's you know, scary
- 6:09as ship and yeah, freaky clowns, and yeah, it's just about looking
- 6:16after the kids. And and I use that, as I was saying before,
- 6:21as an analogy for that, and but but it was Balloons is is
- 6:28a heavier offering for us, and was kind of I suppose influenced by obviously
- 6:34that horror theme as we were talking about, but you know, I suppose
- 6:40bands like slip Knot and and things like that I was listening to at the
- 6:44time when I wrote that, who've also got obviously that horror sort of gothic
- 6:49feel to it. So yeah, I think I think Balloons kind of kind
- 6:55of came out pretty heavy and kind of quirky, kind of like this weird
- 7:00slip Knot kind of heavy faith name war type deal. And not that I
- 7:04meant to compare to other bands, because we're going to sound like somethan Yeah,
- 7:09yeah, I guess, but yeah, I think that was the That
- 7:14was the that was the vibe of that song when we recorded it, and
- 7:18I think it came out pretty well. And the second track is called Child's
- 7:23Light. Yeah, Child's Light, it's just about my daughter. I wrote
- 7:29the lyrics for that probably probably in like twenty sixteen, but my daughter's ten
- 7:35now. But yeah, it was just about about becoming a dad really,
- 7:42and we had this really cool, sort of groovy, dirgy kind of riff
- 7:48and and we wanted this kind of catchy chorus with harmonies and stuff, and
- 7:53Ray Ray and I sing really well together, so again not meaning to compare,
- 8:00but like I had this kind of Alice in chainsy kind of you know,
- 8:05vocal thing going on in the chorus. So but we love that sort
- 8:11of stuff. We like, we're like some really nice harmonies and mixed with
- 8:15some really dirgy heavy riffs. So so it kind of comes out sounding like
- 8:18that. But yeah, that's that's about my daughter, beautiful. I have
- 8:22track number three is called Dream Dream. Dream was just about making your life
- 8:28awesome, like do awesome ship all the time. Yeah, so we I
- 8:39was trying to have a like a positive a really positive vibe, but meanwhile
- 8:45having this kind of trippy I suppose Dawsy King Crimson weird monster magnet type thing
- 8:54going on in the background. Positive but being positive at the same time.
- 9:00So so dreams just about yeah, making your life as awesome as you can.
- 9:05But it's it's a little bit in a spacey kind of way again with
- 9:07that sci fi kind of feel, kind of alien type. I was thinking
- 9:13about the film Alien while I was writing it. Yeah, who doesn't love
- 9:20Alien? Like who doesn't? Indeed, the closes out with greed Mile,
- 9:26Old Sparky, Like, I'm pretty sure I know where the green Mile comes
- 9:30from. Where's the old spark in it? Old Sparky, Old Sparky the
- 9:35Electric Chair? Yeah, from Stephen King. So again, uh we we
- 9:46use that as like again the Stephen King horror horror themes coming through. But
- 9:50the just choosing, like the choices we make in life, and and sometimes
- 9:58we really make wrong choices. And we can be walking the green Mile,
- 10:01you know, like towards the Electric Chair, and you got to watch out
- 10:05for old Sparky because your bloody get you if you have to make the wrong
- 10:11sort of choices. If that makes sense, It makes too much sense.
- 10:15I know exactly know exactly where I'm added. Yeah, I was there with
- 10:20you, man, I was there with you. The Bob and supporter and
- 10:24the Richmond supporter will go down hand dreend time, dreend time. Baby.
- 10:33Your band camp page caused reincarnate a rebirth of the band, like, would
- 10:37do you agree with that? And if so, how so? Yeah?
- 10:41I definitely, I definitely, I definitely agree with that rebirth being that we
- 10:48we had we had a break for a while. Obviously COVID shut everything down,
- 10:52and then and then we were doing other projects, like we had solo
- 10:58Proje excellent stuff going on, and you know, we had some health issues
- 11:07in the band and then and then Ray moved overseas to back to Spain with
- 11:13his with his family, as I mentioned, and so it was kind of
- 11:18like a rebirth of the band in a way, and and just the way
- 11:24we would describe it, it ties in with the whole reincarnated thing. But
- 11:30yeah, we and we we sort of got a new a new touring guitarist
- 11:35with Shane who used to be our He didn't play on the EP, but
- 11:41he was he was rehearsing with us for the U for the upcoming shows,
- 11:46which unfortunately we can't play due to a family thing. But but yeah,
- 11:54Shane sort of gave a new spark to the band when we were rehearsing for
- 12:00those shows, and so it was kind of a rebirth in a few different
- 12:05ways. Very cool. Now before we go made, I believe you've got
- 12:09a bit of a festival called rat Fest later on this year in Melbourne.
- 12:13So yeah, Ratfest was a is a festival kind of curated by us by
- 12:26Society, and we we kind of had a hand picked, hand picked lineup
- 12:33and suicidety we're obviously gone to play and we've got franken Bach this year.
- 12:39Captives unfortunately had to pull out because a couple of their members are going over,
- 12:43so we got CD Jesus in their place, and full Tome Generator who
- 12:50just did a tour with Brent Byork and playing with Elaine. Elaine. Yeah,
- 12:58yeah, is that how you pronounce his name? I'm sorry, no
- 13:01idea, but that'll do. I'm sorry if that's I've pronounced it wrong.
- 13:07And they're they're amazing kind of desert rock, kind of Queens of the Stone
- 13:11Age type vibe. And then we've got Quaid opening the show, and they're
- 13:16awesome. They're kind of like college college rock, you know, sort of
- 13:20punkers, but unfortunately we can't play, so we're we're looking at getting getting
- 13:28dream Killers from Queensland on board, and it looks like that's gonna happen.
- 13:33So so we're stoked and with with franken Bach obviously headlining the show, and
- 13:39we've got we've got three shows in Victoria, a city show and two regional
- 13:46shows, and we're really really looking forward to it. So unfortunately Society can't
- 13:50play, but I'll still be there hosting and hanging around like a bad smell,
- 13:56so it should be should be fun, so everyone should get get along
- 14:00of that. Well, and that's in August. Is there August twenty four,
- 14:03twenty fifth, twenty sixth for a memory? Yes, yes, yes,
- 14:05and last weekend in August I think yeah. So people find out more
- 14:09information, bro then go to oztic's get their tickets, or head to our

- 14:22Ratfest in August. But in the near future, Suiciety, you have released
