- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hello, listeners, and welcome to the Divine Dialogue Podcast, where we dig deeper into the trove of wisdom and guidance stories have to offer.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Have you ever watched a movie and felt moved, felt called to make a change, or reflect more deeply on your own life?
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: If so, this podcast has a lot to offer you.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: For our second episode in our Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone series, we will explore the scene when Harry becomes a seeker and plays in his first Quidditch match.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: For those of you new to the series, there is another episode just before this one where I go over the letters as well as when Harry gets his first wand.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And if you're extra new here, I do have a special series that I recorded before the first Harry Potter movie on Balto.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: That is a four-episode series I highly encourage you check out.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And we will get on with the second episode of Harry Potter.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So the scene recap for this scene, we're gonna go over a couple scenes here.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: The first one is where Harry is learning to uh fly for the first time, and we see that this is a skill that he takes to very easily, even getting an annoyed side eye from Hermione when he's able to get the broom to come up to his hand very quickly.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And soon as when the teacher leaves for a moment to escort Neville to the hospital because he gets hurt, his remembral drops out of his pocket and Draco picks it up.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And Draco is intending to keep it from him, but Harry wants to get it back because it's Neville's and he wants to give it back to him.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And Draco being the bully that he is says, I'm gonna put it somewhere where Longbottom will have to go find it, and he gets on his broom and takes off.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: And prior to Madame Hooch leaving, she had said, Anybody's broom in the air will be back on the train away from Hogwarts before they can say Quidditch.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So she had instructed everyone to stay grounded, but Harry ends up flying, and he chases Malfoy and tells him to give him the remembral back, and Draco ends up throwing it like way into the air far away, and Harry takes off and he's able to catch it.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And McGonagall happens to see him, she's in one of the towers, you know, doing professory things, and she sees through her spectacles that he caught this ball on a broom, his first time on a broom, and she's in awe, and it turns out that the Gryffindor team needs a seeker, and she ends up going down to the field, and Harry thinks initially that he's in trouble, but actually she takes him to Oliver Wood, who is the captain of the Quidditch team, and she excitedly tells him, I have found you a new seeker.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: And so then Wood takes Harry to the Quidditch pitch, and he's showing him essentially all the rules of the game.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: He names off the types of balls that are in the game, and he basically tells him, The only one that you need to worry about is the golden snitch.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And then shortly after that, we see the first Quidditch match that Harry plays in, and it's against Slytherin.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And Slytherin plays a very ruthless game, you know, knocking wood off of his broom in mid-air, and he falls to the ground, and they're just playing a very, you know, sneaky underhanded game because they're Slytherin house, right?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: So Harry ends up being able to catch the snitch after Quirl had been hexing his broomstick.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Initially, we think it's Snape, but it's actually Quirl, we find out at the end.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: But he manages to catch the snitch in his mouth after diving for it on the field, which awards him 150 points.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: And in most cases, that wins the game because that's you know 15 goals by a team, so that's quite a few points.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: So he wins the game for the team, and everyone's super excited, and you know, they find out just what a great asset Harry Potter is to the team as a seeker.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna go over a few things about these scenes.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: The first one with Malfoy, when Harry challenges him.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I think it's a very meaningful thing to notice that rule breakers, and I don't mean rule breakers as in, you know, lawless, dangerous criminals.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I mean rule breakers as in people who follow their own inner guidance and do not rely on the outside world to dictate to them what they should do.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: They are winners in every sense of the word, and they get special opportunities, even though someone who plays by the book, like Hermione, you know, is very rules-based, at least initially.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: But people who break the rules often get special opportunities, especially when it's done in energy that I would consider divine, which to me essentially just means following your own inner compass.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: So Harry knows that Draco taking the remembral is an act of, you know, just being a bully and being a jerk.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: And so he wants to get on his broom not to show off and not to be braggadocious like Malfoy is and be absolutely insufferable.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: He wants to recapture the remembrance because it's messed up that Malfoy took it from uh Longbottom.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So him breaking the rules gets him this opportunity, him being a seeker of balance and justice gets him apart on the team that's referred to as the seeker, which I think is very telling for many reasons.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: So essentially, the seeker is looking for something that's fleeting, right?
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: The golden snitch, something precious that many often cannot see.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: If they're able to catch it, they win.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And I believe that this is true in life.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Because I think for Quidditch, it's such a beautiful layered metaphor.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: On the Quidditch field, seekers are playing a completely different game than the one going on oftentimes below them.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: If you notice the positional names, I believe that they're very telling.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: So you have the chasers, and they are literally chasing the surface level points.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: They have to carry a heavy big ball to try and get it to jump through the hoops on each side.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: So think about how chasers literally have to jump through hoops to get points and to quote unquote win, right?
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Like, how many times do we see people jumping through hoops to get like insignificant rewards that don't even really add up to much in the end?
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And then you have the beaters who are trying to stop them.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: So those are the forces that hit you hard when you are chasing things on the lower plane, and they have to, you know, direct the bludgers, and those are the balls that essentially come after you for going after the quaffle.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And it's essentially like a very ruthless, consequential game because it's being played on the lower plane.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: But the snitch has nothing to do with any of this.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: This is all on a totally different, you know, field of play.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And the keepers are the ones really in charge of whether your efforts manifest on that lower plane, whether what you pursue actually matters.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: So they're the ones who decide, yep, like you chasing this, your attempt is either worth something or not.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: There's always a gatekeeper.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: So they're the gatekeepers of whether your efforts manifest on the lower plane or not.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: And when you do score, the points are pretty minimal.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just 10 when you think about it for all that work that you have to do.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Dodging bludgers, evading the gatekeepers, and depending on how far behind you are in the rat race, which in this case would be the other team, or people competing on the same plane as you, it can start to feel really insignificant.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: But the seekers in the game are often flying above all of this, and it's not in a way that is hierarchical, but it's in a much deeper way.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: They are essentially playing a game within a game.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Because when you catch the golden snitch, ever elusive but ever present, you win not just the game on the lower plane, but the mega game, the bigger game.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And I think the snitch represents the golden moments of presence that we can tap into, where intuition and action interact.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: It's no coincidence that the seeker who catches the snitch almost always wins the game for his team or her team.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Like essentially, we can say that quaffles are easy to control, they can be tossed back and forth, they go through various hoops and pass between the gatekeepers.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: But the snitch itself is not something you can possess, it's something you can follow.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: And catching it briefly, getting in touch with that divine golden orb, even if just for a second, makes you the winner of the game.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Even the games you aren't actively playing.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: And I think that's so important because the people down below, like playing on the lower plane of consciousness, I guess you could say, are, you know, fighting and squabbling over 10 points.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: But if you're playing this higher game, that what I would call the soul game, the soul-seeking game, and you're not even trying to win on this lower plane, but playing that game, seeking that snitch and being able to just get in contact with it, it helps you win the game that you're not even playing.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And it's not at all about production, it's about presence.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: If you have sight, real sight, to see what is not just face value, but I would say are the deeper layers, it can feel like you're walking the same path, but with a very clear map.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: It's not something that can be explained with logic and reasoning alone.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: It is a resonance, a recognition, like Harry had with his wand earlier in the story.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Again, if you haven't heard that first episode, please go check that out because I do create these in mostly chronological order.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: So if you're trying to follow along with the story, please definitely check that out.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: My cat encourages you to as well.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: And I would argue that a seeker just knows the truth when they see it.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: But truth is elusive.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: It's not something you can pin down with language or rules or structure, because then the ego would be able to put it in a box.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: It just is.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: The seeker is not only the one who sees the golden thing, the seeker is the one willing to move toward it.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Every time, even when they're scared, they just keep trying to move toward it.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: There are no real barriers to catching the snitch and seeing it, except for the mind.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: As Yoda even says in Star Wars, which we'll get to later, you must unlearn what you have learned.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: The lower plane Quidditch game you can look at as a program.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: The seeker plane is your divinity.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Anyone can see the snitch if they choose to look outside of the standard game.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: But the standard game often takes over because it is quick, more instantly rewarding, or punishing, and more form-based.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: And since we live in a form-based world, that often tends to override what I would say is the energetic world, especially because I find that we live in a hyper-masculine world, and masculine things are passion-driven, they are form-based, they are kind of quick action, and the snitch is much more of a long game way to play, Quidditch, and way to play life.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Now, I wouldn't literally say that the soul to standard ratio is 150 points to ten points, reduced down to a 15 to 1 soul to ego ratio.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: It's not about it being a math equation.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: But the striking difference in points is telling, and I believe it is on purpose.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: It explains the meaning of being a seeker and the rewards that come from it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: But reward is not the point.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Reward is the point on the lower plane.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Resonance, recognition, and peace is the point on the higher plane.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Reward is a very beautiful consequence of putting that energy first, of revering the energy of the snitch over the energy of the lower plane, or I would say revering the energy of the divine feminine over the energy of the lower plane.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: The lower plane matters as we are in the form world after all, but there is more to us than that.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: There is something far more luminous, whimsical, and ethereal about us than just the form-based game.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: And that leads me into my personal mirror, which today I will be talking about my job.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: So the current job that I'm in requires present moment focus, just like a seeker during a Quidditch match.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Prior to this job that I have now, which is essentially you could say customer service, it's a light-ish call center environment.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I don't get back-to-back calls, but I get quite a few calls throughout the day.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: And the job that I was in before was much more of a lower-plane job in the sense that it did not require my present attention.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: In fact, I probably spent more time in my mind in that job than I did actually present in the job because it was so easy.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: All I did was essentially type and do data entry.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: And I became very bored with it because I had gotten as high as I could go.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: I was essentially in charge of the team as an hourly person.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: I was the highest hourly person on the team, but it got to become very boring because I just could do it on autopilot.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: I wasn't really challenged at all.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And it was very comfortable because I've struggled with anxiety most of my life.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: So it was nice that it was very predictable.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I knew what to do.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I knew the hoops I had to jump through and put the quaffle through, and I knew what to avoid, and I knew all these things.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: It was very automatic.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I have to, in this case, with this job, I have to pay attention and not jump ahead, which I think the mind really loves to do.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: And when I took this job, I felt so much anxiety, worrying I wouldn't be able to focus on the golden snitch, the resolution, the winning move.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: And actually, when I first got on the phones, I lost sleep for weeks.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: I was so nervous about, you know, not being able to do the right thing or say the right thing or make the right move.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: And my mind always had to be like 10 steps ahead of where I actually was.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: And this job has really taught me that the golden snitch is not something you plan ahead for.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: It's just something that shows up in the present when you're aligned.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: And when I'm talking to people, when I pay attention to little things like the tone of their voice, or if you know they're the type of person who wants to be engaging versus the type of person who wants more of a script.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Like I've learned to listen so much better because I'm not so focused on putting the quaffle through the hoop.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: I am more focused on essentially learning what the golden snitch trace of everyone is that I talk to.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: So it's been really helpful.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: And I really do think that me following into my career path at this point with this current job was me following the golden snitch.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Not because it meant it's meant to be my job forever.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: I don't think it is, but because there was something locked in it that would unlock something in me.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: And I think that that's the thing that seekers are always willing to investigate.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: It's and it could be a job, it could be you trying something new, it could be you doing something that you're scared to do, you know, it will unlock things.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: And I think you'll see golden snitches all around you.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: And sometimes you can follow more than one, or there'll be more than one for you to follow, I should say.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: It's not necessarily that it's just one golden snitch that arises, it's you will be presented with so many options to follow.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: And, you know, sometimes where you follow the golden snitch is not even the final destination.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it is the thing we are meant to follow because it trains our sight.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Like you might follow one golden snitch and stay there for a while, and then maybe two or three will branch out of that, and it can almost become like positive hydra in a way, where you follow one and then it multiplies and multiplies and multiplies, and then more and more paths open to you because the more you seek, the more you see, and then the more you see, the more directions you have to go in.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: And ultimately, I think the lesson of the seeker, and why I think Harry's Potter's position on the team is called the Seeker, is it really teaches us how to be where we are, and that essentially will lead us into the next episode of the series because after this, we're gonna go into part one of two of The Mirror of Eric, which I think is one of the most profound scenes in the entire series of Harry Potter.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: I'm very excited to get into it.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: But Harry being a seeker and also being able to understand the lesson of the mirror, I think are very interconnected as well.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: But that will be next week's episode.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And for today, with the divine dialogue question I have for you quite a few of them.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: When have you felt like a seeker in your life?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: What divine impulse have you followed that helped you win at the game of life?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: What small golden thing have you followed before you fully understood why?
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: And where in your life are you being invited to stop playing only the lower plane game and start looking for the golden snitch?
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: So for me, again, I kind of already answered this in the personal mirror, but I don't really think being a seeker is something that you eventually arrive at and you're like, oh, I can stop seeking.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: I think that you're always seeking.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: And I think the more you seek, the more you'll want to seek.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: And I think the more you refuse to seek, the more afraid you'll be to seek.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: So I would encourage you as we wrap up this episode of Divine Dialogue to embrace the impulse to follow the golden snitch.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: And it could be something very small.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: And I really do think that how we talked about in Balto how the white wolf, which I would describe as the divine feminine energy, is very patient, very compassionate, very loving.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: I don't think that your seeking has to be monumental.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: People always think it's this huge undertaking.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: I really think it starts with small things.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: So look at an area where you're on the lower plane and look for where the golden snitch might be in that picture and then just follow it and see what happens.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: That's what I would encourage you to do.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: And in closing, I'd like to say thank you, divine listeners, for tuning in to the second episode of the Divine Dialogue Podcast on the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone series.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: There are quite a few scenes from the Sorcerer's Stone to explore yet.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: And as I'd like to say as I do at the end of every episode, if you have any suggestions for scenes, please share them with me.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: My email is in the show notes.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: And if you have any feedback, anything that you'd like me to look at, I will try to work it into the existing structure.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: I am happy to report that I have my content actually planned out through November, December of this year already.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: I had some wonderful inspiration last week when I was writing out ideas and trying to essentially connect things that are relevant to the season.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: And I'm very excited for the direction that I'm going with this podcast.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: But we still do have quite a few scenes.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: So, like I said, you know, when I started this, it's a great example, actually.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: So I can close with this too.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: When I started this podcast, I only knew that it was going to be Balto and the Sorcerer Stone.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: And now I know what my content is going to be almost through the whole end of this year.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: And there's no way I would have known that if I hadn't started seeking, if I hadn't started following the golden snitch of the divine dialogue impulse.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: I would have been like, well, the old me would have looked at that and said, Well, you only know Balto and Harry Potter.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Why would you start?
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: You don't even know where you're going to be after that.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: But there's this thing about following these impulses that more is revealed to you as you go.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: You don't need to have the entire map or all the steps.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: You just need to take the first step, and then more steps will be revealed to you.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: Like I really do believe that that's true.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: So until next time, divine listeners, notice what beckons you to seek and where even one fleeting moment of truth may help you win the game.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: And with that, I will catch you on the next one.
