- 1:05Speaker 1: on this Friday afternoon. National Football League as Okay, yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 1: It was kind of a nah kind of football game
- 1:15Speaker 1: last night. I suppose that if I was watching the
- 1:18Speaker 1: game at home as a Rams fan. If I was
- 1:20Speaker 1: sitting at home watching I probably would have been a
- 1:21Speaker 1: lot more bunged up about it. Then it turned out
- 1:27Speaker 1: to be because you know, there wasn't they weren't capitalizing
- 1:35Speaker 1: Stafford Gets stopped on that run toward the goal line
- 1:39Speaker 1: and got flattened on that. Williams would have taken it in,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but he did hit Pooka the coop with a fifty
- 1:47Speaker 1: one yard pass that set up the field goal to
- 1:50Speaker 1: go up nine to six. H Nikua had a good game.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Cooper Cup didn't catch pass in the game, and then
- 1:57Speaker 1: the forty nine ers were just awful on offense. Brock
- 2:02Speaker 1: Perty made some terrible decisions the one that was picked
- 2:05Speaker 1: off in the end zone. He made some poor decisions
- 2:07Speaker 1: even in the last play of the game. The one
- 2:09Speaker 1: thing you cannot do when you need a hell maryage
- 2:11Speaker 1: to take a sack and didn't get it off in time,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and the Rams were able to sack them and that
- 2:16Speaker 1: did it. So it was it was a huge win
- 2:21Speaker 1: for the Rams. I mentioned this yesterday. If LA had
- 2:23Speaker 1: won the game, I said, if they win the game,
- 2:27Speaker 1: they're going to be in the thick of the fight
- 2:29Speaker 1: for the NFC West. They're not leading. Seattle was eight
- 2:33Speaker 1: and five, the Rams are six and eight and six.
- 2:36Speaker 1: The Seahawks host the Packers on Sunday. That's one of
- 2:38Speaker 1: the big games in the NFL. If the Seahawks win
- 2:42Speaker 1: that game, they maintained a one game lead on Los Angeles,
- 2:46Speaker 1: But of course they still have games left to be completed,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and they conclude the regular season at Sofi Stadium in La.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Seattle plays at LA and the Rams already had beaten
- 2:56Speaker 1: the Seahawks once, so they're they're they're still in control
- 3:00Speaker 1: their own destiny. Both of those teams are even the
- 3:03Speaker 1: Cardinals that think are all butt in control of their
- 3:05Speaker 1: own destiny because they got swept by the Seahawks. They're
- 3:08Speaker 1: still in the think of the fight. But they're six
- 3:10Speaker 1: and seven. One would imagine to beat the Patriots this Sunday,
- 3:14Speaker 1: that puts them still within hopefully for them striking distance.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I think the forty nine Ers are dead and gone.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I mentioned this yesterday if they lost, because their division
- 3:24Speaker 1: record is taking the beating now and they got swept
- 3:26Speaker 1: by the Rams and they're six and eight, and at
- 3:29Speaker 1: the very least they'll still be two games back with
- 3:32Speaker 1: three to go. So I think they're done. I think,
- 3:34Speaker 1: what was it a zero point two percent chance to
- 3:36Speaker 1: get kind of like the Cowboys, that's zero point two
- 3:39Speaker 1: percent chance to get in into the playoffs.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I ran through the playoffs machine earlier the day and
- 3:43Speaker 2: did what it would take for the forty nine ers
- 3:45Speaker 2: to get there, and it's just impossible. I mean, basically,
- 3:50Speaker 2: you need Washington to lose out, you need Tampa Bay
- 3:52Speaker 2: to lose out. You need who's the other team you need?
- 3:56Speaker 2: You need the Seahawks to lose some games.
- 3:58Speaker 3: You need the Rams. Basically the into the division. It's done.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I mean, you got players quitting on your on the
- 4:04Speaker 2: team halfway through a game. It's over. With McCaffrey. Just
- 4:08Speaker 2: let him take a year off from football, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 2: don't bring him back for this. Deebo Samuel, he looked anful.
- 4:15Speaker 2: He's injured, of course, you know.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He said there winding and complaining about not being targeted enough.
- 4:21Speaker 3: So what happens last night?
- 4:22Speaker 1: They targeted me drops the ball twice, including one where
- 4:26Speaker 1: he was running the slant over the middle. The Rams
- 4:28Speaker 1: wouldn't have called it even it would have been a
- 4:30Speaker 1: touchdown touchdown for sure, and he dropped that. He also
- 4:34Speaker 1: ran into Grindo and knocked him down his own teammate once.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the year from Hell for San Francisco. You know,
- 4:42Speaker 2: there's always that one year from Hell team. And when
- 4:44Speaker 2: we went over the playoff predictions beginning to season, and
- 4:47Speaker 2: I gave you my seven teams, you know, I went
- 4:48Speaker 2: through the NFC AFC and it's like, okay, usually at
- 4:52Speaker 2: least three teams from last year's playoffs do not make
- 4:55Speaker 2: it this year. And I couldn't really figured it out
- 4:58Speaker 2: in the NFC, but there's always that one team that
- 5:01Speaker 2: has that that year from Hell aspect and we'll miss
- 5:04Speaker 2: the playoffs. Who you didn't think would happen before the season,
- 5:07Speaker 2: It was San Francisco. I think if you asked, if
- 5:09Speaker 2: you survey ten people NFL fans, a nogele NFL fans, Hey,
- 5:13Speaker 2: who wins the NFC Probably half for seeing San Francisco,
- 5:17Speaker 2: maybe more maybe more in the other half, probably Detroit.
- 5:20Speaker 2: No one had, you know, Philadelphia or even Minnesota. But
- 5:23Speaker 2: it's caught up to him. And you know, with San Francisco, crack.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I'm curious because you know, remember when Harball made the
- 5:30Speaker 2: Super Bowl and then a few years later things didn't
- 5:32Speaker 2: work out and they let him go. I wonder what
- 5:34Speaker 2: they're gonna do with Shanahan, if that will get stealed
- 5:36Speaker 2: because I think he's a fantastic play caller and a
- 5:38Speaker 2: good head coach. But you know, well, will the ownership
- 5:42Speaker 2: group in San Francisco maybe get a little impatient.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Wow, he's gotten to the super Bowl twice, he's got
- 5:50Speaker 1: they haven't been able to get over the hump.
- 5:51Speaker 2: And they have some very big contract decisions of him coming. Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 2: especially with Brock Brady.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So you're saying the Season from Hell belongs to the
- 5:57Speaker 1: forty nine ers and not the Cowboys.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because don't think the Cowbys are a good team.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Like, but people thought they were going to be a
- 6:03Speaker 3: good team. They won what twelve ball games last year
- 6:06Speaker 3: and they lost in the first round.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Okay, but they won't now, but they were still expected
- 6:10Speaker 1: to be a playoff team by most and maybe you
- 6:12Speaker 1: didn't pick them. I did not pick them, and I
- 6:15Speaker 1: picked them to be a playoff team.
- 6:19Speaker 2: If you want to say this year from Hell, sure,
- 6:21Speaker 2: but I think in the offseason. There was things that
- 6:24Speaker 2: were leading up to the season that made you think, yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 2: it's probably not gonna work out for them, and it
- 6:31Speaker 2: turned out that way. I mean, even without Dak Prescott's injury,
- 6:34Speaker 2: Cowboys are probably in the same spot. Maybe they have
- 6:38Speaker 2: one or two more wins, but at the same time,
- 6:42Speaker 2: they're still trilling Washington in the NFC East for that
- 6:45Speaker 2: final playoff spot. I don't think they would have gotten
- 6:47Speaker 2: there with or without Dakh. With San Francisco, every week
- 6:50Speaker 2: someone else is getting injured. For me, that streams streams
- 6:54Speaker 2: year from health, especially because they were you know, they're
- 6:57Speaker 2: one defensive stop last year from winning a six Super
- 7:02Speaker 2: Bowl championship.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but they all they do have enough.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Cowboys gave up eighty points in the first half againt
- 7:08Speaker 2: screen Bay in the first round.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So yeah, the the forty nine ers do have enough
- 7:12Speaker 1: weapons on offense to be better than one hundred and
- 7:14Speaker 1: ninety one yards of total offense last night.
- 7:16Speaker 3: True, it's true.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I mean, brock Perdy was hailed as a second coming
- 7:20Speaker 1: after getting to the Super Bowl.
- 7:22Speaker 3: How does that work. He's having an awful season, up.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And down, up and down. You know, people you know
- 7:28Speaker 2: giving him praise and then tear him down.
- 7:30Speaker 3: It's you know, it's and I know I know that.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Uh, the wide receivers have sustained some injuries, but Juwan
- 7:37Speaker 1: Jennings had done well when Deebo was out, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 1: when they when they had other injuries as.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Well, and in the first round.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah, the loss of McCaffrey is huge because it just
- 7:50Speaker 1: the key to.
- 7:50Speaker 3: The whole offense.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Even though Jordan Mason before he got injured and as
- 7:54Speaker 1: a Grendo have had moments for them.
- 7:58Speaker 2: But anyway, Yeah, your unry has been huge as well. Yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 2: because the key for Shnahan's offense is you need those
- 8:05Speaker 2: multiple playmakers for the defense. Isn't honing in on just
- 8:08Speaker 2: one guy, because when you when you take away a
- 8:10Speaker 2: UK and McCaffrey and you're just left with, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 2: a fifty healthy Deebo Samuel, it's easier for defenses to
- 8:17Speaker 2: stop you. And it's why San Francisco has a negative
- 8:20Speaker 2: point differential this season.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely, losers are for their last five. You know.
- 8:25Speaker 1: By the way, Kenneth Walker, the third who's been binged
- 8:28Speaker 1: up running the ball well for Seattle, is doubtful with
- 8:33Speaker 1: that calf injury to play against the Packers. So the
- 8:36Speaker 1: Seahawks are won four in a row, but they may
- 8:38Speaker 1: well have to do without Kenneth Walker. The third listed
- 8:41Speaker 1: is doubtful for the Sunday night game there in Seattle
- 8:45Speaker 1: possibility could miss a second straight game.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Mike McDonald said.
- 8:48Speaker 1: The injury is not a long term concern, but that's
- 8:53Speaker 1: you know, as it said. But Zach Charbonay has played well,
- 8:56Speaker 1: ran for one hundred and thirty four yards two touchdowns
- 8:58Speaker 1: when they beat the Cardinals last week.
- 9:01Speaker 3: So when getting McIntosh has added some things as well.
- 9:03Speaker 2: So four straight wins, you know, the defense is getting healthy,
- 9:08Speaker 2: physical football team. You know, Mike Donald's a good football coach.
- 9:11Speaker 2: You know, he's they got that that tough nosed defensive
- 9:15Speaker 2: mentality that you need to have in in January to
- 9:18Speaker 2: make a deep run the playoffs. So I think, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 2: there's always you know, label teams who aren't favorites, teams
- 9:24Speaker 2: that oh you just don't want to face him, you
- 9:25Speaker 2: know in January. You know, I think San Francisco, I'm sorry,
- 9:29Speaker 2: Seattle is one of those teams. They're frisky, they play
- 9:32Speaker 2: good defense. And now you know, I'm not the like
- 9:34Speaker 2: you know Smith, I'm not really concerned with him. But
- 9:37Speaker 2: on the right day, right day, you know, can you
- 9:40Speaker 2: know he'll throw that one stupid interception, But he also
- 9:44Speaker 2: can throw four touchdowns.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he does throw those funny ones, those inexplicable like
- 9:50Speaker 1: the one hundred and three yard return one that the
- 9:52Speaker 1: Rams had.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He's like Jameis wins He's like the Kirkland version of
- 9:55Speaker 2: Jamis Winston Kirkland, because Jamis is going to throw these
- 9:58Speaker 2: three game He's also going to make that You're like, Holy.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Look who's back from injury? Hollywood Brown? There you go.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Hollywood Brown practiced today for the first time with the
- 10:09Speaker 1: Chiefs since that injury in August knocked him out of
- 10:13Speaker 1: the lineup. That was the first play of the preseason
- 10:17Speaker 1: against Jacksonville. Remember that it was a stern oclavicular injury.
- 10:22Speaker 1: He had surgery placed on IR so they have a
- 10:28Speaker 1: three week window in which he can be activated from
- 10:31Speaker 1: injured reserve. He's not going to play this Sunday against Cleveland,
- 10:34Speaker 1: but he has back on the practice so that he
- 10:36Speaker 1: could return as soon as the following week. Next weekend
- 10:40Speaker 1: against the Texans, they play him at Arrowhead, So he's
- 10:43Speaker 1: not going to play this weekend, but he might be
- 10:45Speaker 1: going forward, so's it really has been a star crossed
- 10:49Speaker 1: existence for those two former Oklahoma receivers, you know, Hollywood
- 10:54Speaker 1: Brown and Cede Lamb.
- 10:56Speaker 3: The CD's had some marvelous moments and then he said
- 11:01Speaker 3: some moments this.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Year when like Trey Aiightman was viscerating him in this
- 11:06Speaker 1: commentary about him saying he's dropping balls he shouldn't be
- 11:09Speaker 1: dropping and you know, effort being questioned and things like that.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Speaking of receivers, I guess you saw the Dolphins release
- 11:17Speaker 1: Odell Beckham Junior.
- 11:18Speaker 3: It was a mutual decision.
- 11:21Speaker 1: He had a one year, three million dollar deal that
- 11:24Speaker 1: he signed back and made with the Dolphins worth up
- 11:26Speaker 1: to eight million, two hundred and fifty thousand with incentives.
- 11:29Speaker 1: But he had knee surgery earlier in the offseason, started
- 11:32Speaker 1: on the pup list, made his practice debut in October.
- 11:37Speaker 1: In nine games, he has nine catches for fifty five yards.
- 11:41Speaker 1: So he's the third receiving option behind Tyreek Hill and
- 11:44Speaker 1: Jaln Waddle. So that's that's where he is, and he's
- 11:49Speaker 1: out razer hand. If you knew Opj's and the Dolphins,
- 11:51Speaker 1: anybody he did sign with him in the offseason, Okay,
- 11:55Speaker 1: all right, we've got some more college football notes to
- 11:58Speaker 1: get to next when we continue on Sports Radio AM
- 12:00Speaker 1: thirteen under the Zone.
