- 3:14[SPEAKER_25]: I'm sure they stand for something.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_25]: I just don't know what it is.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_25]: PureTalk, on the other hand, is a veteran-owned company that supports our military in a big way.

- 5:54[SPEAKER_05]: Just get here when we work together, we win.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_23]: A humid, cloudy start to the day gives way to hazy sunshine and spotty thunder showers in the Tug Hill region.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_23]: We're going to get to a high of eighty-two, dip down to sixty-two overnight with a clear sky, and then we're hazy sunny again tomorrow with a high of eighty-seven.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_23]: Wednesdays are going to be sunny with a high of ninety-one degrees.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_23]: With your accurate forecast, I'm meteorologist Jeff Nordine on the news and talk authority AM- twelve forty-w-eighteen.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_20]: Now, AM-TW-A-TN presents the Hotline sponsored by Herringers Contracting, the roof people who call you back, LA Quarry, the destination for all your crushed limestone in the North Country, and Watertown Appliance, the proud studio sponsor for the Hotline with Jeff Graham.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_09]: And I hope you all had a good time out there out on the water and all of that's a lot of people in town.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_09]: Unfortunately, there was some tragedies over the weekend.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_09]: There was a drowning in parish filled up near Potsdam and there was a fatal motorcycle accident near McCollum.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_09]: That's never going to work.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know, there was nothing on the news, locally, about the accident up in Thompson Park on Saturday.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_09]: And you're welcome to call in if you have any knowledge because there must have been a lot of people up there with the City Golf Tournament and the, uh, all the usual mid-Summer revelry up there.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_09]: But my understanding is a woman died.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_09]: She and her husband were riding either bicycles or e-bikes.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_09]: We don't know what they were.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_09]: Down Butler Drive there.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_09]: Headed towards both of them, I think they were headed down the hill.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_09]: And according to relatives, hit those new speed bumps.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_09]: They were supposed to delineate a crosswalk there, lost control.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_09]: And one woman hit the ground and died, went to the hospital.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_09]: And there was her sister posted on Facebook.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, I've got the name, but I'm not going to use it here because
- 8:26[SPEAKER_09]: The legacy media hasn't used it yet.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not going to get myself in trouble.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_09]: woman from Phoenix, Arizona.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_09]: My sister and brother-in-law, the people involved in this accident, they went out for a short ride yesterday afternoon.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_09]: They had a great ride until they encountered the speed bumps.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_09]: They both crashed, resulting in substantial injuries.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_09]: When I received the call, I sent my sister loving thoughts, holding her in my heart, and telling her whatever needed would be done medically, and if she would be okay.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_09]: My sister left this world at six thirty p.m.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_09]: Saturday, yesterday.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_09]: Well, she wrote this yesterday.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_09]: But it was Saturday.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_09]: And the husband is overwhelmed with grief.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_09]: He entered the hospital with his best friend and went home carrying a bag of her belongings.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_09]: The family is numb.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_09]: I will no longer share a daily phone call with my sister.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_09]: Be kind to those who love.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_09]: That was Kathy McGrane Brown.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_09]: Posted that.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_09]: It's on Facebook.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not stealing it from anybody.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't get it in executive session or anything like that.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_09]: But for some reason, the news media knows nothing about this.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_09]: It happened in the city now.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_09]: I would think the city since I happened on city property, especially, would have put out press release every night, you know, an accident in Thompson Park resulted in the death of a, at sixty-five year old Massachusetts woman and blah, blah, blah.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_09]: Nothing.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_09]: Nothing.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_09]: Anywhere.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I just always wonder, at times like this, whatever happened to the local news.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think they're, I know these staff cuts, all of that.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_09]: But whatever happened to the local news, and this poor woman who passed away, I don't know about the speed bumps.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_09]: I did notice them up there, and that trail they put in, it crosses, traverses the park, intersects with all three major highways going up, and there's a crosswalk at each one, and there's speed bumps at each one.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_09]: There is signage at two of the three.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_09]: But the signage is right there where the speed bump is, which is where right there where the cross right.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_09]: But it would seem to me from what I've read, speed bumps are not normally put in public roads.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_09]: They're usually in parking lots of private housing projects or something like that.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_09]: And these may be the removable kind.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_09]: It can take out in the winter.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_09]: But I don't know.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_09]: It sounds strange.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_09]: I remember an incident
- 11:18[SPEAKER_09]: And you can always have these arguments and who's it fault?
- 11:21[SPEAKER_08]: Who's it fault?
- 11:24[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_09]: And, you know, what's the value of the laws and all that stuff?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_09]: And I get that.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_09]: I get that.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_09]: But there was an incident back in the late eighties before I was married.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_09]: But we had to act on it because we had to approve the settlement.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_09]: And that was a guy who was writing his bicycle from up in the picnic area there.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_09]: down that pathway that goes right by the tennis courts.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_09]: I think most of you were familiar with that.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_09]: And then as you go further down, and you wouldn't see it over the horizon, but it turns into stairs and goes all the way on and down to the Franklin Street Road.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_09]: So this guy went, took that tumble, was profoundly injured.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody disputed that.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_09]: They sued.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_09]: And the city settled.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_09]: And I strictly remember the attorney coming in and telling us, you know, you can argue about liability all you want, but putting this guy on the stand or in court in front of a jury is going to be very risky.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_09]: So we settled for whatever it was.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_09]: Now then liability was the concern.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_09]: The injuries were great and risk of sympathy was high, according to one veteran attorney.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_09]: Same scenario with the off-duty cop reviews his own gun on his own time to attack a former girlfriend and it manager at Applebee's point is even a flyability is questionable and even if compared to fault is obvious, if injuries are great, there will be a powerful incentive to pay.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_09]: But we don't know where this goes, but I'm sure there's going to be some kind of repercussions from it.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_09]: What gets me?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_09]: I'm going to get in trouble for saying this.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_09]: Because everybody wants to say, well, Eric's a great guy.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_09]: Here we have a fatality on city property.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_09]: It was the city manager there, or assistant manager, one of them, was the police chief, or captain there, was the fire chief there, or where they all often on the water somewhere.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_09]: Because there was no press release put out.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_09]: So the media is sitting there this morning, and he got an idiot like me,
- 13:39[SPEAKER_09]: saying, well, there was a fatality up there.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_09]: And the news media says, well, we don't know.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_09]: They didn't tell us.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_09]: Now, a news junkie on Saturday, they had pictures of the accident scene, and they had a description from somebody who said, the woman was severely injured, unconscious and bleeding, that they had called a metovac helicopter, and then canceled the call.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_09]: Now, read into that what you want.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_09]: And then you've got the posting on Facebook from her sister saying, she passed at six thirty.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_09]: Well, it's twelve-fifteen on Monday, and I just watched Diane tell us that I should be interested in the lavender festival in Copenhagen.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_09]: And I don't know.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_09]: Some people say, well, that's not news.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody falling off a bicycle.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_09]: It's not news.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_09]: What is news?
- 14:29[SPEAKER_09]: The lavender festival.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know why.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_09]: I guess it's not worthy too.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_09]: Same thing with Walmart.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_09]: At least three times in the last month, the power at Walmart's going on.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_09]: They had to evacuate the store.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_09]: What's going on with the power out by Walmart?
- 14:43[SPEAKER_09]: All those people have to be sent home, all those people have to, you know, inconvenient shoppers.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_09]: Something's going on.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_09]: And I hear people say, well, I would be, you know, the power going out Walmart's not news.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_09]: I then what is news?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_09]: News is what affects people.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_09]: It's what's happening now.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_17]: Yeah.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_09]: The first three letters of news is new.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_09]: Kind of weird.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_09]: It's me just an old fart and old crumudgeonly fart.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I sometimes say that thing.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_09]: I sound like Andy Ruby.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_09]: Mm-hmm.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_09]: Well, overseas Trump says he's going to get a rough report.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_09]: No, you know, we heard that before.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_09]: Um, on the meme page, there's still clamoring for Lisa Regiro to give a concession speech.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_09]: She sent congratulations over to the last guys for
- 15:38[SPEAKER_09]: Moving out of her in the final count.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know what they want for the, you know, range of podium and go to go somewhere and make a speech to who?
- 15:47[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody makes those speeches anymore.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_09]: Um, if they're all upset about that, let her go.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_09]: Let's, you know, the woman lost the primer of this letter.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_09]: Go.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_09]: Um,
- 16:03[SPEAKER_09]: Governor Hockel's race, eleven point eight million dollars for Rubin a choreo running the last reporting period.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_09]: That's a big deal.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_09]: City Council meets tonight.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_09]: What do they got to do?
- 16:12[SPEAKER_09]: Well, they're going to do it.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_09]: They're going to do it.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_09]: They're going to do it.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_09]: They're going to do it.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_09]: They're going to do it.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_09]: They're going to do it.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_09]: But yeah, they're supposed to talk about cannabis.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_09]: And they got like a lawyer and a place city planner and the city manager, they're going to shoot that down.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_09]: And because even if they repeal that local law, it doesn't mean there's, go, the state sanctioned cannabis stores.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_09]: They probably wouldn't be any for maybe sometime because they've already been, that ship has sailed.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_09]: That ship has sailed.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_09]: But Councilwoman Regeroy asked the local lobby drawing, but I guess they refused to do that.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, sir.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_09]: Our special.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_09]: And then again, it's talk about the law that did get drafted, and that's the workaround as they like to call it.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_09]: The workaround on residency.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_09]: We saw what happened with residency Saturday night.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_09]: Exactly.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_08]: But we were with family on the water and it was very nice.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_08]: We were cooking burgers.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody died on city property.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_09]: Should have been something sad about it.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_09]: Saturday night.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_09]: Did there somebody come in from the water for an hour and do something?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_09]: I don't.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_09]: Crazy.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_09]: I'm crazy.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_09]: I think sometimes.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, Ron here.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_15]: Good afternoon, Jeff.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_15]: you know over the last couple of years you've been talking about picked an island and the weather forecast it's going to be a picked a weekend I think you've increased the popularity of that place because now that picked an island swimming area the rafting area is now it checked weekly by save the river for water quality that is that location has been added to the list of the list of swimming areas in the thousand islands
- 18:30[SPEAKER_15]: popular swimming areas that are tested weekly for E. coli bacteria and so far it's been testing okay so they're now on the list now how would you get the popularity of the place that you've rejuvenated there so to get to get E coli you'd have to be crapping you'd have to be crapping in the water right
- 18:52[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, we'll see you on the radio.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_09]: Hi, thank you.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I'm glad that our friends at Picton are not doing that.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_09]: They are, they're nice.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_09]: They're the clean people.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_09]: They're clean.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_09]: It was a Picton weekend.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_09]: There's no doubt about it.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_09]: So I'm sure people were all over the place, haven't fun.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_09]: You know, there's some lovely pictures I'm seeing on Facebook and other places of drone video or pictures of, you know, summer homes on the St.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_09]: Lawrence and Old Castle.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_09]: It's just lovely stuff.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_09]: And you know, when I was up in the park yesterday, I was driving around and drove through.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_09]: And that's how I happened to know there was an accident because I stopped at McDonald's and got something I just driving through there on the way home and saw the police tape across the road.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_09]: So then I texted news junkie.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_09]: I said, well, what's going on?
- 19:38[SPEAKER_09]: He said, oh, look on news junkie.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_09]: There were pictures of the accident.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_09]: So I said, well, okay, there you go.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_09]: Kind of picked my interest.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't realize that the time is severity of it.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, certainly the account related on news junkie was rather dire, but anyway, the park looks great.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, the grooming of it and everything, you know, it done a nice job on a lot of aspects of it up there.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_09]: You see, I can praise people.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not totally negative.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_09]: Well, what have we got?
- 20:13[SPEAKER_09]: What else we got here?
- 20:22[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_09]: Anything else you want to talk about?
- 20:26[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody got stabbed and Sandy Creek?
- 20:29[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, okay.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_09]: That's good.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_09]: Is that local?
- 20:33[SPEAKER_09]: That's what, twenty miles away.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_09]: It's funny how we describe local.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_09]: That's considered non-local news.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_09]: But if it's twenty miles the other way, it's local news.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_09]: Or forty miles the other way, it's local.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_09]: Something happens in McComb.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_09]: Where is McComb anyway?
- 20:50[SPEAKER_09]: I've been to Sandy Creek.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if I've ever been to McCone.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_09]: Say the truth.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_09]: Is that up near Oxbow or something?
- 20:57[SPEAKER_09]: Who knows?
- 20:59[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody knows.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_09]: All right, listen, we're going to take a little break here on the show of shows, the hotline.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_09]: If you have things you want to talk about here.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_09]: If there's anyone who is up in the park, Saturday, you know, it's a surreal feeling because you say, I know I saw something up there.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_09]: And I know I saw something on news junkie.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_09]: And I know that I saw all these things on Facebook.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_09]: But then there's nothing official out and there's nothing on the local news or anything like that.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_09]: So I don't know.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_09]: Sometimes you think you're in this, I don't know.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_09]: Serial sort of mindset or something.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know how to describe it.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_09]: There's probably a German word for it.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_09]: But I don't know.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.

- 25:10[SPEAKER_09]: You know, somebody checks me and said, are you going to the county fair this week?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_09]: It's the county Jefferson County Fair is being held this week.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_09]: As is the Lewis County Fair down in Laudville.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_09]: They're both lovely affairs.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_09]: The answer is no.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_09]: I'll be driving by the county fair.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_09]: Not because I have anything against it.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_09]: It's just, you know, I'm at a point in life from just
- 25:29[SPEAKER_09]: Not interested, right?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_09]: Is that fair enough to say?
- 25:32[SPEAKER_09]: And do you remember when we talked about this last week, and I looked it up, I did a little research.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_09]: And then I'll have it anymore.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_09]: The Hoochie Koochie girl, yeah.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_09]: That's not a bad thing, but it was women performing provocatively on the midway, and then you go into a tent or something.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_09]: And they really had that here, yeah.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_09]: You know, there was something that a hundred years ago today, thing in the paper the other day, that a hundred years ago, this year, to nineteen twenty five, there was a big clan rallied down in Adams, like a lot of people there.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_09]: Kukok's clan.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, can you believe that that went on here in our North country?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't know.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I'd heard that.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, I didn't know how strong it was up here.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_09]: Fortunately, it doesn't go on today in times of change, attitudes of change.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_09]: But no people still get accused of being racist at every turn.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_09]: And we got all sorts of things.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_09]: Back in nineteen twenty five, it couldn't really accuse anybody of being a Nazi because they really hadn't done anything yet.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_09]: But now they do.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_09]: Everybody's a Nazi now.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_09]: It's crazy.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_09]: You see those people out in California throwing those big rocks at those government vehicles?
- 26:59[SPEAKER_09]: When did it become okay to do that stuff?
- 27:01[SPEAKER_09]: That's what I wanted.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_09]: I always wanted to do that.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_09]: You see, government cars go by the bow throw stuff at them.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_09]: I guess they guess you can now with impunity and CNN was making a big stink this morning because in that raid of that cannabis farm over three other illegal aliens,
- 27:19[SPEAKER_09]: round it up and apparently one of them trying to run away, slid off the roof of a greenhouse and die to get injured.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_09]: They took them to the hospital, but again, injured.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_09]: That's CNN's big story, yeah.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_09]: What about all the people, even boulders at cars and doing other stuff?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_09]: And why is it okay that we have all these illegal aliens being paid sub-pennem of wage at a marijuana farm in California?
- 27:45[SPEAKER_09]: You know, this is like modern slavery.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_09]: We talk about workers' rights and swaged the after.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_09]: And all these progressive talk about everything.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_09]: And there are human rights, nonsense, and all these other things.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_09]: And yet, the same people who do that, the Democratic Party, are the ones who are big on them, having all these people coming in working for nothing.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_09]: And to pay off their transit fee that they've got to tell.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_09]: And so that we can have our weed.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_09]: Now they're going to discuss weed tonight at the city council meeting the cannabis.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_09]: Great bit of virtue signaling a few years ago when the state cannabis law was passed essentially making it okay to do it.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_09]: Things are grow two plants in your.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_09]: whatever.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_09]: And so, you know, people could get licenses to open dispensaries and communities had the option of opting out of there if they passed a local law.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_09]: Well, the city, of course, was, oh, no, we don't want that.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, yeah.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_09]: So they passed that local law and all these stores are opening elsewhere.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_09]: Meanwhile, the city just turns a blind eye to all the unlicensed shops in town selling what cigarettes and
- 28:56[SPEAKER_09]: And, uh, marijuana and there's even an indoor growing operation here in the city.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_09]: I hear that.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_09]: I heard that.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_09]: I've seen the building, but I haven't had eyes on the actual activities.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_09]: That's why I don't say where it is.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_09]: Now, uh, let's see.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, there's still arguing about Epstein and Epstein's island.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_09]: Well, what about the list?
- 29:22[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if there is a list.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think I'm on it.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_09]: If I was, I was.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_09]: But I'll list that you went to the island.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_09]: I just don't know what to think about all that.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_09]: But they're fighting over it now in the Democrats, you know, and everything.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_09]: It's just me.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_09]: Just me.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_09]: Well, what's the story about baby's names?
- 29:55[SPEAKER_09]: That's always interesting.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_09]: The most popular baby boy names in New York for twenty twenty four.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_09]: Liam, I hate that name.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_09]: You know, that sounds kind of, oh, God, I don't want to say it.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_08]: I don't want to say.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_09]: Liam, who the hell would name their kid, Liam?
- 30:15[SPEAKER_09]: But it's a recently popular name.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_09]: That didn't appear in baby named data when I was born.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_09]: or only a handful of people had it.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_09]: Liam became start to be unpopular in the nineties and last year over fourteen hundred leams were born in the state.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_09]: Now the most popular boy's name since nineteen ten.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_09]: John Robert William Joseph.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I don't see Jeff on the Charles George Frank.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, the usual popular since then, but now these other ones, you know, nobody means a kid, Rufus anymore either.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_09]: That was a good name.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see, Dweezle, somebody said.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_09]: Well, somebody wrote in the location of the indoor pot thing.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_09]: I can't say that because influential people own it.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_09]: And we can only say that it exists.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_09]: Well, let's see, we're arguing about the speed bumps.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_09]: One person writes in the MUTCD, the manual on uniform traffic control devices.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_09]: Let's not get too technical.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_09]: uh... specifies that the use of the w seventeen dash one sign to warn drivers of upcoming speed bumps or humps this is a yellow diamond with a black symbol next to it displaying speed hump or speed bump uh... it should be placed in advance of the speed bump or hump and maybe supplemented with an advisory speed plaque in which placing that the site of the bump now a hump is just a sort of a rise in the pavement
- 32:08[SPEAKER_09]: It's a more subtle thing, because it takes your attention.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_09]: The bump is an actual obstacle in the road.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_09]: You know, these things have come up before this issue of something in the road and causing an accident.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_09]: And we say, well, you're the driver, it's your fault, not all of that.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_09]: I get those arguments.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_09]: But there was an incident a few years ago up in St.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_09]: Lawrence County.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_09]: where there was a fire department that needed to empty out the water in the truck, maybe to put new water in or whatever that we're going to do.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_09]: But they were going to dump the water in a ditch across the street.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_09]: So they strung a two and a half inch hose across a road.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_09]: And I do remember this.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_09]: I was reminded of it this morning.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_09]: But they didn't put any flag people there and didn't stop anyone.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_09]: So along comes a motorcycle with a couple on it.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_09]: It's at two and a half inch hose.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_09]: It's full of water.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_09]: and loses control and goes down.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_09]: And the people were hurt.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know what became of that.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_09]: But that's what can happen when you're, you know, it isn't always a question of driving recklessly.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_09]: I really doubt these, this couple in their sixties were driving recklessly.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_09]: Like, you know, I think they just came across upon it and you had never been there before in my lifetime.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_09]: And they, I don't know, they lost control.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_09]: And I was at the public's fault.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_09]: Or is it there fault?
- 33:33[SPEAKER_09]: That's what the argument will be if they decide to take action.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if they would.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_09]: You know, given the, uh, that's a good thing about not getting it covered in the news.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_09]: The lawyers don't see the news coverage.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that's right.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_09]: They go after people like that.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_09]: Um,
- 33:57[SPEAKER_09]: I remember one time when I slipped and fell on general signal property up on Starbucks Avenue and local lawyer called me that night.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_09]: Because he heard on the news, I was in the emergency room for a broken wagon.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_09]: He wanted to know if I wanted to sue him.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_09]: I said no.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_09]: I'm just glad to be home.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_09]: I said, you know, looking back at it, you know, I might have been some free money who knows.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody wants to know
- 34:28[SPEAKER_09]: Can I offer a night of discount drinks at Pearl Street Pub for hotline listeners to meet?
- 34:32[SPEAKER_09]: I want to meet angry man.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_09]: I'd love to have the angry man over.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_09]: You know, and we got some liquor there that been sitting around for forever.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, liquor is good for everybody.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, we can cut it and do something for you.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_09]: Probably some of it.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_09]: I should just give away, you know, rather than ever sitting the basement.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_09]: So anyway, seven phone we got a call.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, if you're doing it right near.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_14]: Hey, Jeff.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_14]: Yeah.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_14]: That's a very sad story.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_14]: What happened in the park there on Saturday.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_09]: Um, so it did really happen.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_14]: It could be liable.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_09]: It did really happen, right?
- 35:13[SPEAKER_14]: I guess it did.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_14]: I mean, that's my understanding.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_14]: Yeah, what you said is true.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_09]: I just want to make sure because I thought it was crazy.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I turn on the news and all day on, talking about the lab of the festival.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_09]: And Robert Hagen, I said, he didn't somebody get killed.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_14]: So while the speaking when the city or anybody puts up a new time, city put up a new stop sign, usually they're labeled as new traffic pad ran, they got orange, black lives out, say, you know, announcing the new traffic pattern.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_14]: I don't know if the city did
- 35:50[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I don't know as you in this situation, and that pathway they put across the park is very nice.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_09]: Obviously, you need crosswalks, so you have to paint the stripes and everything.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not sure you need a speed bumps there, right at there, because once you hit the speed bump, you're already in the crosswalk.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_09]: I think you might need signs in advance, and maybe even solar-powered signs that flash a bit too, if that doesn't
- 36:18[SPEAKER_14]: You know, keep the holes up at night at the zoo, but I really think a good lawyer would be able to get the city.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I don't know.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, you matter like this, you've got to decide on, you know, liability and the risk of going to trial and all of that usually you drag it out for a few years.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_09]: You can not, if it happens, you just drag it out.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_14]: You've heard about them trying to do the new skate park, right?
- 36:44[SPEAKER_09]: Hey, per.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, I don't know.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_14]: Oh, guys, that's running that Nicholas Star.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_14]: He just posted a couple weeks ago about the speed bumps.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_14]: Not those exact ones that were actually happened, but the other ones, I think, coming up Franklin Street.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, the Franklin Street house.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_14]: And you know, because he's saying, hey, you took away the best downhill slope in the water town, but he's right.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_14]: You come down that hill.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_14]: And then you don't know because your whole life those speed bumps weren't there, then all of a sudden they're there.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_09]: Right.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_14]: You know, and if you're on a skateboard or a bike, yeah, you're going to go flying.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_09]: Correct.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_09]: Now, the other hand, you're not supposed to be speeding or anything.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_14]: Right, but about twenty miles an hour on a skateboard or a bike, and you hit a bump like that, you're going flying.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, yeah.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_09]: No doubt about it.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_14]: That's the only point I wanted to make.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_14]: I think the city is probably going to be a lot help liable.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_14]: I mean, there wasn't adequate signing and it was a new change to the traffic pattern that wasn't announced or labeled.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I just don't know why they felt they were needed.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_09]: I you would think signage would be adequate for a crosswalk decision to put the speed bumps in.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you'll never know.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_09]: I assume a city manager.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_14]: Well, I'm just, uh, cause I don't really remember being discussed with any speed bump talk to you.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_09]: No, but I'm sure that would be viewed as outside the realm of the elected officials that they're not, they're too pedestrian to deal with that.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_14]: All right, Jeff, just to point out what to make.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_09]: No, I thank you.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_09]: I doubt the, I doubt they even knew.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, doubt they even knew.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_09]: uh... seven five five twelve forty are phone number back with more in a moment

- 52:20[SPEAKER_09]: But, you know, you drive down a road that you've driven down many times and you have the expectation of, it's just a road.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_09]: I doubt these people in their sixties were like hot rotting or something like that so it was probably But it can be quite jarring to hit I don't I don't have an excuse to be bumps, but Well, everybody should go up and look at see now they can't take them yeah, I don't think they should be there to tell you the truth I think if I prove there yeah, they should come becoming out today.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_16]: I mean no, you know you around the park
- 52:56[SPEAKER_09]: You can't take them out because it's a mission of culpability.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_09]: You can't do that.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_16]: If they don't take it out and it happens again, then they're really hopeful.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_16]: you know, a crisis on a problem has been shown to them now and and like because it's just a one-tall because they both went down so I mean that shows you know something went on.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah yeah and unfortunately maybe she had her had on the pavement or whatever.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_16]: I mean I mean you just you can just go down wrong you hit something wrong and it's all over it doesn't we're fragile.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_09]: Well, and you know, we don't really realize that, but, you know, helmets aren't there for the seventy mile an hour crash.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_09]: You're dead then anyway, but they're there for the low speed ones.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_16]: You can also snap your neck just to see how that, you know, you know, you know, you're not sure.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_16]: Now, I just got to say, were you playing those Democrats on this thing?
- 53:58[SPEAKER_16]: Epstein stuff, magas, who's mad at Trump now for the list of everything.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_16]: And don't be fooled by the word less.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_16]: It's just, there's files.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_16]: Right.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_16]: I want to be a. Yeah.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_09]: Well, listen, I'm a. But list.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_09]: I don't take these lists seriously.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_09]: Look at I'm on the list of people who attended Johnny Spazano's phone party.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_09]: So I mean, that doesn't mean anything bad happened.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_16]: No, they have ten thousand hours of video that shows things that bad happens.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_16]: Not just connection.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_16]: We know there's connections that have seen had all over.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_16]: Sometimes they were legit and sometimes they were in the various, but that's what those files will show because he kept, like, compromise on people too.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_16]: Excuse me.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_09]: You know, so I've got another call coming in.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_09]: So I get to let you go, but thanks for calling.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_09]: All right, bye now.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_09]: Well, if you do drive the air, you know, I street nice prince of a guy, but he's always got to like defend the indifference.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_09]: I wonder if he like wants to call in and defend those people throwing rocks at cars out in California.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, it's a little weird.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_09]: Or defend any of the other nine cents that goes on.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, I see.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't read something.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_09]: Finally got.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_09]: I guess Cuomo was only ten points behind Mondami in New York City and the pole just came out.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_09]: So you might win, you know.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_09]: The problem with, you don't want to vote for my dummy, but who wants to vote for Andrew Promo?
- 55:33[SPEAKER_09]: But after dinner on the air.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_11]: I'm there.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_11]: How are you today?
- 55:37[SPEAKER_09]: Good.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_11]: This is something we've been kind of going over on over.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_11]: New York State does not consider what Chris Biker and what the scooter motor vehicle.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_11]: So it's not in the same jurisdictions of any motor vehicle, even though it has a motor.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_11]: So I don't know where that positive that makes difference.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_11]: Very sad situations.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_11]: Sorry, you hear about something like that.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_11]: I remember going down those hills on a kid, when I was a kid on a skateboard, and it came to the point where you go, well, this isn't going to work, so you go for grass to try to get off, because it's a very steep hill, so I don't know.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_11]: Maybe those speed bumps are a good thing, because just from inertia, you're going to go above the speed limit going down those hills if you don't break.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, but that's a heck of a way to stop inertia, so.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, well, the gravity and inertia and everything,
- 56:24[SPEAKER_11]: involve regards if you have a motor or not has to be concerned when you're going down a steep hill so even this will spill things down but feel very bad for everybody involved okay well thank you and then electric one question is just is there been a dog park bill yet has the cityman sued by s gia and as a ready to enter thousand else at our house of solar dorsy street yet just just wondering those three questions no okay all the last all right thank you okay thank you all right I don't know the answer to those questions but uh...
- 56:54[SPEAKER_09]: You know, fg's in his world or all in hours and all that stuff.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_09]: So it's something.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I don't know.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_09]: We certainly rank just to find out more about the individual who passed and someone up in the park, he could see that haven't done happen where we have those kind of tragedies like that, but I don't know what to say.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_09]: too bad.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_09]: And as far as whether the, you know, speed bumps, well, are they good or bad?
- 57:31[SPEAKER_09]: Uh, you can look that stuff up.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_09]: And there's all sorts of rules and codes and all that.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_09]: Generally, they're not used on city on public's thoroughfares, but I don't know how much they slow when you went down.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_09]: You know, putting them right there at the crossway.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not sure what they slow down, but I guess somebody thought it was a good idea.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_09]: And, you know, one of the best ideas for slowing people down are those lights that I had suggested way back in the early nineties.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_09]: And that's the ones in front of the high school that tell you how fast you're going, you know, and they blink or something.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_09]: If you're going too fast, and it's kind of a reminder for, you know, people who want to speed are going to speed.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_09]: People who want to break the law are going to break the law.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_09]: But for people who want to be safe, those things are a good reminder.
