- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 49, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? And today we're covering something you'll use every day — clothes. Luna: Oh, nice. I always need new vocabulary for shopping. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with a common one: ሸሚዝ. That means 'shirt'. Luna: ሸሚዝ. Shirt. Lucas: Good. Now a full phrase: ሸሚዝ እፈልጋለሁ — 'I want a shirt.' Luna: ሸሚዝ እፈልጋለሁ. I want a shirt. Lucas: Perfect. And if you're pointing at one: ይህ ሸሚዝ ነው — 'This is a shirt.' Luna: ይህ ሸሚዝ ነው. Lucas: Great. Now let's do shoes: ጫማ. Luna: ጫማ. Shoes. Lucas: Right. A handy sentence: ጫማ አለኝ — 'I have shoes.' Luna: ጫማ አለኝ. I have shoes. Lucas: And for multiple: እነዚህ ጫማዎች ናቸው — 'These are shoes.' Luna: እነዚህ ጫማዎች ናቸው. That's a longer one. Lucas: Yeah, but you've got it. Let's put them together in a mini scene. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: Imagine we're at a shop. I say: ሸሚዝ እፈልጋለሁ. Luna: And I say: ይህ ሸሚዝ ነው. Lucas: Then you ask me about shoes: ጫማ አለህ? Luna: ጫማ አለህ? Do you have shoes? Lucas: I answer: አዎ፣ ጫማ አለኝ. Luna: Ah, 'yes, I have shoes.' Nice. Lucas: Right. And you could say: እነዚህ ጫማዎች ናቸው. Luna: እነዚህ ጫማዎች ናቸው. These are shoes. Lucas: Excellent. Let's review all four phrases. Luna: Sure. ሸሚዝ እፈልጋለሁ — I want a shirt. Lucas: ይህ ሸሚዝ ነው — This is a shirt. Luna: ጫማ አለኝ — I have shoes. Lucas: እነዚህ ጫማዎች ናቸው — These are shoes. Luna: I love that we can already make sentences. Lucas: That's the goal. And remember, with Fexingo, you get bite-sized lessons. Luna: So you can practice anytime. Lucas: Exactly. Keep repeating these today. Next time, more clothes. Luna: Can't wait. Thanks, Lucas. Lucas: You're welcome, Luna. And to our listeners: practice, and we'll see you next time.
