Speaker 3: I am doing fine. Tell us all about this big
• 2:58
  Speaker 3: event on Saturday.
• 3:00
Speaker 5: Wow, Well this thereity, I mean, we have an annual event.
• 3:02
Speaker 5: It's it's called our Main Street Spring Festival. We shut
• 3:04
Speaker 5: down Main Street and it's it's lots of spring. Fun
• 3:08
Speaker 5: is in Sore for everybody, and everything is free. As
• 3:10
Speaker 5: you know, we talked about this before. All of our
• 3:13
Speaker 5: events in Hurricane are always free, free, free, and what
• 3:17
Speaker 5: I mean by that is free admission inflatables, ice cream, cotton, candy,
• 3:21
Speaker 5: face painting, games, fun zones for little you know, for
• 3:24
Speaker 5: the little ones. Everything is free. And then we have
• 3:27
Speaker 5: some free entertainment happening. So at one thirty and three thirty,
• 3:31
Speaker 5: Andy McKee of the Zoologies on Science Center. You know
• 3:35
Speaker 5: about the Zoology Zone.
• 3:36
  Speaker 3: I believe Andy's friend.
• 3:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, Andy, Andy's a great guy. And the Guyanne River
• 3:42
Speaker 5: Claggers at two thirty and I'll tell you if you're around,
• 3:45
Speaker 5: you could come on down. I'm sure they would. The
• 3:47
Speaker 5: guy in River Claggers. We get you on stage. I
• 3:49
Speaker 5: would love to see that.
• 3:50
Speaker 3: Look. Uh you put me on stage attempting to dance.
• 3:54
Speaker 3: Somebody will call nine to one one and say some
• 3:56
Speaker 3: dudes having a seizure up there.
• 3:58
Speaker 5: Uh, well we could rate, we could raise money for
• 4:00
Speaker 5: your favorite charity. We put you on stage. Yeah, man,
• 4:04
Speaker 5: I mean, if you want to do it, let's do it.
• 4:06
Speaker 3: Well, if I'll do it, if you do may or
• 4:08
  Speaker 3: how's that we'll see?
• 4:10
  Speaker 6: All right?
• 4:11
Speaker 3: All right, what else do you have?
• 4:12
Speaker 5: Let's see so art and craft vendors. We have a
• 4:15
Speaker 5: bunch of art and craft vendors, and you can come
• 4:17
Speaker 5: buy something for yourself or a shop for Mother's Day,
• 4:19
Speaker 5: which is coming up, don't forget another's day. And then
• 4:23
Speaker 5: food vendors. We have Scraggle Pop. Everybody loves Scraggle Pop.
• 4:27
Speaker 5: But we also have mosh Pit Munchies and the Wavy
• 4:29
Speaker 5: Beach Taco Company. These are food trucks. You come there,
• 4:33
Speaker 5: you do buy your food from food trucks, so we
• 4:35
Speaker 5: can't control that, but everything else is free.
• 4:37
Speaker 3: Let me get a little plug in here, just real quick, Marre,
• 4:40
Speaker 3: let me get a little plug in here for the
• 4:41
Speaker 3: folks at mosh Pit Monchies. I did a live broadcast
• 4:45
Speaker 3: on our sister station ninety eight seven a mounth in
• 4:47
Speaker 3: a couple of weeks ago here in Charleston, and the
• 4:48
Speaker 3: folks from mosh Pit Mounchies were there. I'm gonna tell
• 4:51
Speaker 3: you that's some pretty good stuff.
• 4:53
  Speaker 5: They have.
• 4:53
Speaker 3: This thing that they do with corn, and I can't
• 4:55
Speaker 3: remember exactly what it is that they call it, but
• 4:58
Speaker 3: basically it's like a gourmet corn on the cob with
• 5:02
Speaker 3: about twenty different varieties that you can get on at
• 5:05
Speaker 3: everything from like salsa or Asian or whatever you want.
• 5:09
  Speaker 3: They're they're the real I'm sure they're all good, these
• 5:11
Speaker 3: mosh pit munchies, folks, that they're the real deal.
• 5:15
Speaker 5: I have heard the exact same thing. I haven't had
• 5:17
Speaker 5: it myself, and I've heard exactly what your exact story
• 5:19
Speaker 5: that you just said. I've heard the same thing from
• 5:21
  Speaker 5: many people.
• 5:22
Speaker 3: And they also do some killer some killer funnel cakes too.
• 5:24
Speaker 3: Because I had to take home to my I brought
• 5:26
Speaker 3: home one one or two for my family.
• 5:30
  Speaker 7: My wife.
• 5:30
Speaker 3: My wife likes funnel cakes, so I had to bring
• 5:32
  Speaker 3: her one anyway.
• 5:34
Speaker 5: And that's good. And and you know, if people after
• 5:36
Speaker 5: they have some moshpit munchies and some tacos and that
• 5:39
Speaker 5: type of thing, they can also you know, there's other
• 5:42
Speaker 5: places in Hurricane uh to you know, other restaurants to
• 5:47
Speaker 5: eat right on main street or and they can also
• 5:50
Speaker 5: shop at our local businesses. I always like to take
• 5:52
Speaker 5: every opportunity I can uh to tell people to shop small,
• 5:56
Speaker 5: shop local. You know we have oodles and Sunny Sky's
• 5:59
Speaker 5: boot could bear the Bearwood Company, Hurricane Floral. There's others.
• 6:03
Speaker 5: I mean, those are the ones right there, right where
• 6:05
Speaker 5: the main street will be shut down. And I'd be
• 6:10
Speaker 5: remiss if I didn't mention our sponsors. I want to
• 6:13
Speaker 5: run through a couple of The presenting sponsor is my
• 6:17
Speaker 5: friend Aaron McAllister with Electronic Services. We have some platinum
• 6:21
Speaker 5: sponsors Putnham County Bank, that's Virginia Heating Cooling and the
• 6:24
Speaker 5: Family Wealth Group. Those are our platinum sponsors that sponsor
• 6:28
Speaker 5: every event all year long.
• 6:31
  Speaker 8: Uh.
• 6:31
Speaker 5: And then some other annual sponsors Martins, Peterbilt, Cardinal Chevrolet,
• 6:35
Speaker 5: Caldwell Insurance, odell Worth, Adonis and Creative Pediatric Dentistry, Westrio,
• 6:40
Speaker 5: American Water, Tyree, Emriing Associates, RIEOH four, Valley Point, Bailey
• 6:45
Speaker 5: and Bailey Heating Cooling, Bailey and Bailey Roofing. And then
• 6:48
Speaker 5: some specific event specific sponsors c AMC's Valley Hospital, State Farm,
• 6:54
Speaker 5: Todd Moore and Kevin z Audibady. That's a lot of sponsors,
• 6:58
Speaker 5: and we have many others for all the other events
• 7:00
Speaker 5: we do throughout there throughout the year. But that's those
• 7:03
Speaker 5: sponsors make it, make everything free.
• 7:06
Speaker 9: We do so many.
• 7:07
Speaker 5: Giveaways, you know, all the other free stuff at our
• 7:10
Speaker 5: Fourth of July, at our Harvest Festival, everything is always free.
• 7:13
Speaker 5: And I appreciate those sponsors.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: And I also want to throw this out there too.
• 7:17
Speaker 3: And if I am incorrect on this, you can correct me,
• 7:20
Speaker 3: or my buddy Connie there can correct me. I think
• 7:24
Speaker 3: this Friday. I think this Saturday is also the opening
• 7:28
Speaker 3: of the Putnam County Farmers Market.
• 7:29
Speaker 2: I do believe it is.
• 7:31
Speaker 5: And I don't know for sure, but I believe it
• 7:36
  Speaker 5: is too.
• 7:36
Speaker 3: It's a lot of those open up the firs. And
• 7:38
Speaker 3: if I'm wrong, I'll correct that. But yeah, it's the
• 7:41
Speaker 3: Journal and that's in the lot just if you take
• 7:43
Speaker 3: the Tay's Valley exit. That's in the lot next to
• 7:45
Speaker 3: where Arby's is and a nextdoor area thirty four is.
• 7:48
Speaker 3: And I say that to say, you can spend the
• 7:50
Speaker 3: day in Putnam County, mayor you can come out for
• 7:52
Speaker 3: early for the Putnam Farmers Market, then head on the
• 7:54
Speaker 3: on down the main street.
• 7:56
Speaker 5: Correct. And there's another farmers market at Valley Park that
• 7:59
Speaker 5: opens this weekend. Yeah, so it's amazing and I will
• 8:02
Speaker 5: also plug we you know, we have a big sports complex,
• 8:06
Speaker 5: the Putnam Canye Bank Sports Complex at Hurricane Bridge Park.
• 8:10
Speaker 5: We will have third thirty six I believe teams in
• 8:14
Speaker 5: this weekend. Thirty four baseball teams, travel teams will be
• 8:19
Speaker 5: in Hurricane all weekend playing on our new fields that
• 8:25
Speaker 5: we have. So it's an amazing thing that happens about
• 8:28
Speaker 5: every weekend in Hurricane. Throughout the spring and summer, teams
• 8:32
Speaker 5: come all over and it's bringing a lot of money
• 8:35
  Speaker 5: to Hurricane.
• 8:35
Speaker 3: That's what we like to hear of a Dave Allen
• 8:37
Speaker 3: showing five Ady Live brought to you in part by
• 8:39
Speaker 3: Bridge Valley offering custom Taylor Training to supply schooled graduates
• 8:42
Speaker 3: and apprenticeships for your company. Visit Bridge Valley dot edu
• 8:45
Speaker 3: on those same lines. Mayor, before we let you go,
• 8:48
Speaker 3: I didn't want to ask you about a couple of
• 8:49
Speaker 3: things about development in Putnam County, specifically in Hurricane and
• 8:52
Speaker 3: the surrounding areas. I went on a little I know,
• 8:55
Speaker 3: I know you to find this very hard to believe.
• 8:57
Speaker 3: I'm a really easy going guy, Mayor, but sometimes things
• 9:01
Speaker 3: irritate me, and I gotta and I gotta put something
• 9:03
Speaker 3: out there. And I did haunt Air not long ago
• 9:06
Speaker 3: and had to do with Tay's Valley and it had
• 9:08
Speaker 3: to do with Putnam County, and it was about the
• 9:10
Speaker 3: traffic situation. You will never hear now. I get a
• 9:13
Speaker 3: little frustrated like other people do. But as I always say,
• 9:16
Speaker 3: mayor how many, how many counties, communities in this state
• 9:21
Speaker 3: would kill to have a traffic problem like Tays Valley does.
• 9:23
Speaker 3: Go down to McDowell County, go down to some of
• 9:25
Speaker 3: the other areas and complain about your traffic problem. It's
• 9:29
Speaker 3: a good problem to have, it's.
• 9:31
Speaker 5: A great problem to have. I look forward to continuing
• 9:33
Speaker 5: to work with the state to fix our traffic problems.
• 9:37
Speaker 5: But we are going to keep growing. There's no you
• 9:40
Speaker 5: know what what our role is. My role and County Commission,
• 9:43
Speaker 5: those type folks. We have to you know somewhat. I mean,
• 9:46
Speaker 5: we can't control it all. It's happening. We have to
• 9:50
Speaker 5: try to control the growth a little bit and and
• 9:53
Speaker 5: work directly with the state, you know, Department Highways and
• 9:56
Speaker 5: our legislature. You know, we need their their money. They
• 10:01
Speaker 5: have to come and fix the main roadways. They're not
• 10:03
Speaker 5: owned by the city or the county. And I get
• 10:05
Speaker 5: this question ten times a day every day for the
• 10:08
Speaker 5: last ten years. But you're absolutely right. You go to
• 10:13
Speaker 5: any other county other than three or four other counties,
• 10:16
Speaker 5: the other fifty would beg to have our problems, absolutely
• 10:20
Speaker 5: beg to have them. And it is so exciting seeing
• 10:22
Speaker 5: the growth that's happening here in Hurricane and Putnam County.
• 10:25
Speaker 5: It's absolutely amazing. And there's so much more to come.
• 10:28
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you know, and I can't say specific names,
• 10:32
Speaker 5: but you know, restaurants, other retail type shops. There are
• 10:36
Speaker 5: things that are on the verge of happening right now,
• 10:39
Speaker 5: and it's really getting good. You know, with the new
• 10:41
Speaker 5: Kelodon Interchange, it's happening, and that's bringing a lot of
• 10:47
Speaker 5: a lot of talk and chatter about those type of
• 10:49
Speaker 5: things happening very soon.
• 10:51
Speaker 3: And you got that major housing development that's going on
• 10:53
Speaker 3: that's actually about a half a mile down the road
• 10:54
Speaker 3: from my house, near near where Wendy's is. And I
• 10:58
Speaker 3: mean those units, so I've seen them online. I haven't
• 11:01
Speaker 3: seen him in person, Mayor, but I've seen them online.
• 11:02
Speaker 3: Those are some pretty impressive looking housing facilities.
• 11:07
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the three or four Valley Point right behind Wendy's,
• 11:11
Speaker 5: and everything they have completed is I believe is leased,
• 11:15
Speaker 5: and they're pre leasing right now. And I mean people
• 11:19
Speaker 5: want to live there. And some people ask me, they said,
• 11:22
Speaker 5: may there's no way people are going to live there.
• 11:24
Speaker 5: I said, well, I hate to tell you that they're
• 11:26
Speaker 5: already pre leasing for buildings that aren't even completed yet.
• 11:29
Speaker 5: So if you want to get on that list, go
• 11:31
Speaker 5: to them now. Get your name on the list now,
• 11:35
Speaker 5: and if you've got one more thirty second. I do
• 11:38
Speaker 5: want to remind everybody the Run for the Wall is
• 11:42
Speaker 5: coming back to Hurricane this year. Wednesday made the twenty first.
• 11:45
Speaker 5: I know that's a little bit away, three weeks away,
• 11:47
Speaker 5: but Run for the Wall it's very special. Those thousands
• 11:52
Speaker 5: of motor men and women on motorcycles be rolling off
• 11:55
Speaker 5: the I sixty four into the Valley Park around five
• 11:58
Speaker 5: pm on that day and everybody always comes out, but
• 12:02
Speaker 5: I'll ask everybody again, put it on your calendar, come
• 12:05
Speaker 5: out line the sidewalks, wave those American flags, and welcome
• 12:09
Speaker 5: these veterans, you know, right into Hurricane, and then come
• 12:12
Speaker 5: to Valley Park for an evening of this a special
• 12:15
Speaker 5: time with the veterans and talk to these folks there.
• 12:17
Speaker 5: They're absolutely amazing and their stories will will bring a
• 12:20
Speaker 5: tear to your eye.
• 12:22
Speaker 3: Hey, mayor give us the details because Amanda will fire
• 12:25
Speaker 3: both of us. You're Amanda, not mine if if you
• 12:28
Speaker 3: don't get all the details about the Spring Festival on there,
• 12:31
  Speaker 3: So go ahead.
• 12:32
Speaker 5: Yes, Spring Festival this Saturday, May the third, one to
• 12:35
Speaker 5: five pm on Main Street one to five pm. Everything's
• 12:40
Speaker 5: free inflatable as ice cream, you know, cotton, candy, all
• 12:42
Speaker 5: all kinds of stuff. Uh, you know we're going to
• 12:45
Speaker 5: have have free for everybody. Live entertainment at one three
• 12:49
Speaker 5: thirty by Animi Kid, the Zology Zone, guy in River
• 12:52
Speaker 5: Cloggers and you on stage at two thirty. Art and
• 12:56
Speaker 5: craft vendors, food vendors, all that stuff. And you know
• 13:00
  Speaker 5: there's a there's a chance of some scattered thunderstorms that
• 13:03
Speaker 5: type of thing. We do have an option of bringing
• 13:06
Speaker 5: some of that inside to the old fire Department, So
• 13:09
Speaker 5: I'm not scared of the weather at all. It's gonna
• 13:11
Speaker 5: be a fun and awesome day.
• 13:14
Speaker 3: Yep, and indeed it is going to be married. Is
• 13:16
Speaker 3: always a pleasure to have you on the show. Real
• 13:19
Speaker 3: quick though, I'm gonna get ask you for another thirty seconds.
• 13:21
Speaker 3: What about parking, because you know it's not Sometimes parking
• 13:26
Speaker 3: can be an issue. When you get into downtown Hurricane.
• 13:30
Speaker 5: For this event, parking is is definitely an issue. People
• 13:35
Speaker 5: park everywhere throughout town and walk right on over. They'll
• 13:37
Speaker 5: they'll park everywhere. They'll park at local churches, they'll park
• 13:42
Speaker 5: along the street. You know, you'll walk three or four
• 13:45
Speaker 5: five blocks. And it's so fun sitting at like Putnham
• 13:49
Speaker 5: County Bank and downtown Hurricane and seeing people walking down
• 13:53
Speaker 5: Dudding Avenue and and people I know, people I don't know.
• 13:56
Speaker 5: I'm like any They parked at the middle school. They
• 13:58
Speaker 5: park different places and then come enjoy a free event
• 14:01
  Speaker 5: for the day.
• 14:01
  Speaker 7: Got it.
• 14:02
Speaker 3: We gotta love it. Hey, Mayor, I will let you
• 14:04
Speaker 3: get back to work. I appreciate you being here. We'll

Speaker 3: That's one of the things. Again, it didn't delegate to

• 17:14

• 17:17
Speaker 12: So you know, my wife and I live up and
• 17:19
Speaker 12: we live here in Charleston. Our kids have all gone

• 17:30
Speaker 12: of parents are taking their kids to and from school.
• 17:32
Speaker 3: And there, and there are situations delegate have to well
• 17:36
Speaker 3: you have to when it's more convenient for working it.
• 17:38
Speaker 3: But you can't tell me. And I've said this before,
• 17:40
Speaker 3: and I promise we'll get into more important stuff. I've
• 17:42
Speaker 3: said this before. And I'm the old guy. You know,
• 17:44
Speaker 3: I'll be fifty five here in a few months, So
• 17:46
Speaker 3: I'm the old guy.
• 17:47
  Speaker 5: Now.
• 17:47
Speaker 3: I know you didn't think I was that old delegate.
• 17:50
Speaker 3: Uh but uh, back when I was like a kid,
• 17:53
Speaker 3: you didn't want you would have you would have been
• 17:55
Speaker 3: mortified to have your parents take you to school. We
• 17:58
Speaker 3: didn't want people to know we had parents.
• 18:00
Speaker 7: Now I like it. I liked riding the bus, actually,
• 18:01
  Speaker 7: I mean, I mean if.
• 18:03
Speaker 3: You had a doctor's appointment or something, you're running light
• 18:05
Speaker 3: and a parent had to take it, school, a school dance, whatever, youbody,
• 18:08
Speaker 3: Just let me off over here, I'll walk the next mile.
• 18:09
Speaker 3: If you don't want people to see your parents, god forbid,
• 18:12
Speaker 3: why would anybody you know? You don't want people to
• 18:13
Speaker 3: know you have parents.
• 18:14
Speaker 7: Yeah, I got a funny, and we'll get back and
• 18:15
Speaker 7: we'll get them other stuff.
• 18:16
  Speaker 6: Minute.
• 18:17
  Speaker 12: I got a funny story. I had a buddy I
• 18:18
Speaker 12: knew years ago who he had that same thing. He
• 18:21
Speaker 12: was embarrassed if his dad tak him to school, which
• 18:23
Speaker 12: he shouldn't be, but you just were. He was a
• 18:25
Speaker 12: middle school kid through jun junior high, I get the time.
• 18:28
Speaker 12: So he would always ask his dad to drop him
• 18:30
Speaker 12: off like a little further away from school, And finally
• 18:31
Speaker 12: his dad figured it out, and so one day his
• 18:34
Speaker 12: dad literally drove like right to their front, like up
• 18:36
Speaker 12: on the sidewalk, basically to drop him off, to teach
• 18:38
Speaker 12: him a little bit of a lesson.
• 18:39
Speaker 3: So don't be ashamed of That's exactly right. And I
• 18:42
Speaker 3: say that not saying that anybody should be ashamed of
• 18:44
Speaker 3: their parents. I'm just saying that you kids used to
• 18:46
Speaker 3: go through that phase when you'd be like your parents
• 18:49
Speaker 3: if you're in a store, like, don't talk to me,
• 18:50
Speaker 3: you know, just a don't night clockword and uh, just
• 18:53
Speaker 3: parents put your kids on the bus.
• 18:55
  Speaker 6: All right.
• 18:55
Speaker 7: How you doing, man, I'm great, man. This is the
• 18:58
Speaker 7: first time been in the new studio.
• 18:59
Speaker 12: It's funny you messaged me yesterday about coming on today,
• 19:02
Speaker 12: which I'm glad I had time to do it. And
• 19:04
Speaker 12: I was thinking on the day before about messaging you
• 19:08
Speaker 12: to see if I could come on.
• 19:09
Speaker 7: At some points, I guess we were both thinking the
• 19:10
  Speaker 7: same thing.
• 19:11
Speaker 3: I guess I guess both thinking how much that we
• 19:13
Speaker 3: love relish on hot dogs.
• 19:16
Speaker 7: Some folks do, some folks don't, Dave.
• 19:17
  Speaker 3: It's a running joke. It's a running joke between you
• 19:20
Speaker 3: and your lovely wife. All right, so session is wrapped up.
• 19:25
Speaker 3: Give me an overview, and then I'll ask you some
• 19:26
Speaker 3: specific questions. Happy not happy?
• 19:29
  Speaker 6: So so well.
• 19:30
Speaker 12: Always I'm always optimistic about things, and I always say,
• 19:35
Speaker 12: and this is true. I don't just say this. It
• 19:37
Speaker 12: is a privilege to be in the capital. It's a
• 19:39
Speaker 12: privilege to serve It absolutely is. I tell people that
• 19:42
Speaker 12: all the time. Politics is not something I ever thought
• 19:45
Speaker 12: I would get into. Come from a blue class or
• 19:47
Speaker 12: blue collar working class family. I had nobody in politics
• 19:51
Speaker 12: in my family, so never saw myself being here. So
• 19:53
Speaker 12: it is definitely a privilege of service. So you will
• 19:56
Speaker 12: never hear me complain about being in the legislature and government.
• 20:00
Speaker 12: I mean, there are days when it's frustrating, but I'm
• 20:03
Speaker 12: lucky to be there, and I like the vast majority
• 20:06
Speaker 12: of people I serve with. I really do on both sides,
• 20:10
Speaker 12: and so I like being there.
• 20:11
Speaker 7: I like the work. I like talking to constituents.
• 20:15
Speaker 12: Yesterday or two days ago, I drove out to a
• 20:17
Speaker 12: constituent's house personally. She emailed me about some issues she
• 20:20
Speaker 12: had with the road near her house, and I went
• 20:21
Speaker 12: out and just went to a home and announced, and
• 20:23
Speaker 12: I said, hey, how can I help?
• 20:24
Speaker 7: And I enjoy doing that kind of stuff. The thing
• 20:26
Speaker 7: I enjoy the very.
• 20:27
Speaker 12: Most is working on stuff that's going to hopefully create
• 20:30
Speaker 12: jobs and economic prosperity in the state. So I'm kind
• 20:35
Speaker 12: of back in that mode during the legislative session. For
• 20:37
Speaker 12: people who don't know, I'm the chair of what's called
• 20:39
Speaker 12: the Judiciary Committee. So that's how I spend most of
• 20:42
Speaker 12: my time while we're in session, but more we're not
• 20:44
Speaker 12: in session, I focus on constituent services, which is like
• 20:47
Speaker 12: helping the lady I went out to visit Hernshaw a
• 20:49
Speaker 12: couple of days ago, or trying to make sure we
• 20:51
Speaker 12: get as many good jobs here as possible. Now during
• 20:53
Speaker 12: session this year, if you're gonna ask me for an
• 20:55
Speaker 12: honest overview of what happened, I mean, just being perfectly
• 20:59
Speaker 12: honest with you, I'd probably give us a B minus.
• 21:02
  Speaker 7: This session.
• 21:02
Speaker 3: That's a higher than some have given it.
• 21:04
Speaker 12: Well, some people hate them. You know, they're going to
• 21:06
Speaker 12: bet a signing no matter what you're right. I mean,
• 21:08
Speaker 12: I kind of make this joke. I say, if we
• 21:10
Speaker 12: passed a bill or a law that said that everybody
• 21:12
Speaker 12: who wants one gets a free puppy, there'll be people
• 21:14
Speaker 12: who would say, you know, where's the free kitten?
• 21:16
Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
• 21:16
  Speaker 3: So that's that's a great analogy.
• 21:18
  Speaker 8: Yeah.
• 21:18
Speaker 12: So, I mean there's some people you'll never make happy.
• 21:20
Speaker 12: There's some people who they think it's their job in
• 21:22
Speaker 12: life to be critical of everything that happens. You know,
• 21:26
Speaker 12: some people will give us a higher grade than I did.
• 21:28
Speaker 12: Some people will give us a lub. But when I
• 21:29
Speaker 12: say that, let's be clear. When I say, you know,
• 21:31
  Speaker 12: when I say a B minus, it's because I would
• 21:33
Speaker 12: have personally liked to have seen more economic job related
• 21:38
  Speaker 12: issues going through.
• 21:38
Speaker 7: And I'm not being critical though. That's hard. Like you
• 21:41
Speaker 7: cannot legislate a new job into existence. You have to
• 21:45
Speaker 7: incentivize the structure. You have to create ways for to
• 21:49
Speaker 7: you know, try to create incentives for companies to want
• 21:51
Speaker 7: to be here. You can create a better structure for
• 21:53
Speaker 7: companies that are here to grow, create incentives for companies
• 21:56
Speaker 7: people who live in the state to create new businesses.
• 21:58
Speaker 7: We should be focusing on that, and we did some
• 22:01
Speaker 7: of them, I saying there was none and you know,
• 22:03
Speaker 7: some people who do like to be I think hypercritical
• 22:05
Speaker 7: times that we call it the micro a Grid Bill,
• 22:08
Speaker 7: which just got signed into law yesterday. That's one that
• 22:11
Speaker 7: it's hard to explain that at the time that we
• 22:13
Speaker 7: have to some extent everything that it does. But that's
• 22:15
Speaker 7: an extremely important bill, and so I give us, you know,
• 22:19
Speaker 7: very high marks for getting that done, because that was
• 22:20
Speaker 7: a difficult bill to work on.
• 22:22
Speaker 12: That was I was one of the co sponsors of
• 22:23
Speaker 12: that bill. That bill is going to pay long term
• 22:26
Speaker 12: dividends in West Virginia. You're not going to see immediate effects,
• 22:30
Speaker 12: I think from it, other than we're already getting more
• 22:32
Speaker 12: interest from companies. I was in a meeting a couple
• 22:34
Speaker 12: of days ago with a company who wants to locate here,
• 22:37
Speaker 12: and part of the reason why is because of that
• 22:39
Speaker 12: micro a Grid bill, which is that's an extremely important bill.
• 22:43
Speaker 7: To the state of West Virginia.
• 22:44
Speaker 12: So we you know, I'm not patting myself in the
• 22:46
Speaker 12: back for that, but that's one that we should all
• 22:48
Speaker 12: be celebrating. I saw some criticism that bill which blew
• 22:51
Speaker 12: my mind. That bill is great and I think long
• 22:53
Speaker 12: term is going to create a lot of I'm talking
• 22:55
Speaker 12: about billions of dollars of investment in the state. The
• 22:58
Speaker 12: bill doesn't just deal with data centers, but that's what
• 23:01
Speaker 12: you hear about most with it. I mean, Dave, some
• 23:03
Speaker 12: of these data centers are multiples of billions of dollars
• 23:08
  Speaker 12: of investment.
• 23:09
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 23:09
Speaker 7: And we have the energy here that they need.
• 23:11
Speaker 12: These microgrids allow you to co locate your power generation
• 23:14
Speaker 12: on the same property as a data center or some
• 23:17
Speaker 12: other industry, and we have those resources they need and
• 23:20
Speaker 12: these projects, if we get them, they will be These
• 23:23
Speaker 12: projects are worth literally billions of dollars.
• 23:25
Speaker 7: We haven't seen anything like it before.
• 23:27
Speaker 3: Let me just throw this out there. You will understand
• 23:31
Speaker 3: because even though you've not been in the legislature that long,
• 23:33
Speaker 3: you've followed politics of course for a long time, and
• 23:35
  Speaker 3: you're a West Virginian. You know it's like I am,
• 23:37
Speaker 3: and the majority of listeners are in the past. Sometimes
• 23:40
Speaker 3: we've heard about this is going to be the next
• 23:42
Speaker 3: big thing, you know, and a lot of times it's
• 23:45
Speaker 3: specific to a community. You know this is going to
• 23:47
Speaker 3: come out. I know in southern West Virginia, we heard
• 23:49
Speaker 3: we're going to do this major, this major and it
• 23:51
Speaker 3: fell through and we're going to do this and it
• 23:53
Speaker 3: turned out not to be as big as we thought
• 23:56
Speaker 3: it was going to be. What would you say to
• 23:58
Speaker 3: people that may think that, well, we we've heard a
• 24:00
Speaker 3: lot of this in the past. What makes this different?
• 24:03
  Speaker 3: Your selling point.
• 24:03
Speaker 12: Would be, We've never had anything like this before, nothing comparable.
• 24:07
Speaker 12: You know, we had like somewhat of a test run
• 24:09
Speaker 12: with the time Met facility. I'll give you an example
• 24:12
Speaker 12: that's up around the Mason County Jackson County area, which
• 24:15
Speaker 12: that air whole corridor is exploding right now between new
• 24:17
Speaker 12: Core and Timet and some other projects. Time Met we
• 24:21
Speaker 12: allowed them to co locate some power on their property.
• 24:24
Speaker 12: It's one of the reasons why they came to West Virginia.
• 24:27
Speaker 12: So we know that this incentive works. If you allow
• 24:29
Speaker 12: these companies to create some of their own power generation,
• 24:33
Speaker 12: they will locate in your state.
• 24:34
Speaker 7: So this is going to pay off.
• 24:36
Speaker 12: This is what these Again, this isn't just for data centers,
• 24:39
Speaker 12: but data centers in particular are asking for this and
• 24:41
Speaker 12: if we didn't do it, someone else would and these
• 24:44
Speaker 12: projects would have gone somewhere else.
• 24:46
Speaker 7: So this is going to work.
• 24:47
Speaker 12: I'm not saying it's going to solve all our problems, Dave,
• 24:49
Speaker 12: but this is a big piece of the puzzle.
• 24:51
Speaker 3: Talking again with Dell get to Gbacres. Dave Allen showing
• 24:54
Speaker 3: five eighty Live is brought to you part by Pinnacle Consultants.
• 24:56

• 25:09
Speaker 3: Visit Pinnacle court dot net. Because what you don't know
• 25:11
Speaker 3: can hurt you. One of the things going back to
• 25:14
Speaker 3: the data centers, micro grids, whatever you you know that
• 25:18
Speaker 3: there were some concerns. I don't think it was necessarily criticism,
• 25:21
Speaker 3: but there were some concerns from some of the counties.
• 25:23
Speaker 3: We heard from some county commissions, economic development authorities. And
• 25:27
Speaker 3: I'm presuming because I haven't once once the governor and
• 25:31
Speaker 3: the governor just signed a bill, but over the last
• 25:33
  Speaker 3: week or so, I haven't heard. I'm not saying they're
• 25:35
Speaker 3: not out there, Delegate, but I haven't heard any more
• 25:38
Speaker 3: of those concerns. So I'm presuming you guys, and you're
• 25:41
Speaker 3: a co sponsor, were able to alleviate some of the
• 25:44
Speaker 3: fears and answer some of the questions that these counties
• 25:46
Speaker 3: and these governmental entities had.
• 25:47
Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean, one of the issues the counties had
• 25:50
Speaker 12: was they thought they weren't going to get enough revenue
• 25:51
Speaker 12: within county if these projects located there. So we changed
• 25:56
Speaker 12: that bill so that I think thirty percent of the
• 25:58
Speaker 12: revenue generated on the property taxes will stay in county. Now,
• 26:01
Speaker 12: that's one of the compromises we made, and I'm sure
• 26:04
Speaker 12: that some counties want one hundred percent, but I don't think, frankly,
• 26:06
Speaker 12: that that would have been fair across the board. These
• 26:09
Speaker 12: projects will generate potentially so much revenue, and they affect
• 26:12
Speaker 12: not just the county, but entire region, really the entire state,
• 26:15
Speaker 12: and so I think I think the formula we came
• 26:19
Speaker 12: up with eventually, and we did some other things with
• 26:21
Speaker 12: the money, we are going to use it to reduce
• 26:23
Speaker 12: the personal I'm sorry, the income tax in the state
• 26:28
Speaker 12: of Westvirginia and personal income tax. That's that's part of
• 26:30
Speaker 12: the incentive of this new law to eventually hopefully wipe
• 26:35
Speaker 12: the personal income tax out West Virginia, which is a
• 26:38
Speaker 12: goal I think a lot of us share that'll help
• 26:40
Speaker 12: us grow as well. So, I mean, so there's that
• 26:42
Speaker 12: bill does a lot of different things and a lot
• 26:44
Speaker 12: of positives to talk about with it. And these first
• 26:47
Speaker 12: some people say, too, Dave quickly, Yeah, some of the
• 26:49
Speaker 12: criticism of the data centers are heard. I mean, just
• 26:52
Speaker 12: really don't know where it came from. Some folks were like,
• 26:54
Speaker 12: these don't create a whole lot of jobs.
• 26:56
  Speaker 7: Well, d'uring.
• 26:56
Speaker 12: In the construction phase, it create tons of jobs, and
• 26:58
Speaker 12: then even when they're open, and even just a medium
• 27:01
Speaker 12: sized data center should create at least one hundred to
• 27:03
Speaker 12: a couple hundred jobs, which you know, is that thousands
• 27:06
Speaker 12: of jobs? No, but these are all good, high paying,
• 27:09
Speaker 12: permanent jobs. I mean, these projects will be in place
• 27:11
Speaker 12: that with the amount of investment you have. If you
• 27:13
Speaker 12: invest a billion dollars in a project or more, it's
• 27:15
Speaker 12: going to be there for a long time. That's one
• 27:17
Speaker 12: of the things I've argued for is we need to
• 27:19
Speaker 12: create generational jobs in West Virginia, jobs that keep our
• 27:22
Speaker 12: kids and grandkids here and these are the types of
• 27:24
Speaker 12: projects that'll do that.
• 27:26
Speaker 3: Again, we're talking with Deligate to jb Acres, I'm going
• 27:28
Speaker 3: to go to the National Front just for a moment,
• 27:30
Speaker 3: because you know we've and I'm not gonna put you
• 27:33
Speaker 3: in a bad position here, but there's been a lot
• 27:35
Speaker 3: of concern about certain things with the with the Trump administration,
• 27:38
Speaker 3: some of the cuts and and doze and things of
• 27:40
  Speaker 3: that nature. I know, and this I don't know. We've
• 27:42
Speaker 3: seen a lot in this area, but I mean with
• 27:44
Speaker 3: the folks with Niosh and Morgantown been a little concerned.
• 27:47
Speaker 3: And we've had Senator Shelley Moore Capito on the show.
• 27:49
Speaker 3: We've had Senator Justice on the show. We've had Congressman
• 27:53
Speaker 3: Riley Moore to his name a few that have expressed
• 27:56
Speaker 3: concern over some of the and I think the governor,
• 27:59
Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Senator Justice called it the danger of cutting
• 28:02
Speaker 3: too close to the to the fence, as he put
• 28:04
Speaker 3: it in that gym justice kind of way. Are any
• 28:07
Speaker 3: concerns from you or your or your other fellow members
• 28:09
Speaker 3: of the legislator a legislature, because we haven't heard a
• 28:11
Speaker 3: lot from from members of the legislature about that.
• 28:14
  Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean within my district, I haven't seen I
• 28:17
Speaker 12: mean just within my fifty fifth district, we haven't seen
• 28:20
Speaker 12: a lot of impact specifically, but statewide, yeah, I got
• 28:24
Speaker 12: a lot of concerns, Dave.
• 28:26
Speaker 7: I think, you know, this is what happens.
• 28:28
Speaker 12: When we kick the can down the road on some
• 28:30
Speaker 12: of these issues too long than when the government reacts,
• 28:33
Speaker 12: You're going to see probably an overaction to some extent.
• 28:35
Speaker 12: And when the federal government in particular gets involved, it
• 28:38
Speaker 12: operates like a sword, not a scalpel. It doesn't operate
• 28:41
Speaker 12: with precision a lot of time. So you know, I
• 28:43
Speaker 12: think it's I mean, who can argue that the federal
• 28:46
Speaker 12: government doesn't spend too much of our tax money.
• 28:49
  Speaker 3: It does.
• 28:50
Speaker 12: We got to figure out ways to make sure that
• 28:52
Speaker 12: our tax money is spent responsibly. But when the federal
• 28:54
Speaker 12: government starts making these broadcuts, you're going to see some
• 28:56
Speaker 12: people who are treat unfairly. You're going to see some
• 28:58
Speaker 12: folks who deserve their job who are going to be
• 29:00
Speaker 12: in danger of losing them.
• 29:01
  Speaker 7: And I don't like that.
• 29:02
Speaker 12: So we need to have a way of identifying the
• 29:05
Speaker 12: methods of making sure the dollars are spent correctly while
• 29:08
Speaker 12: also making sure that the people who provide a good
• 29:11
Speaker 12: service for our taxpayers keep their jobs, especially with regard
• 29:14
Speaker 12: to folks in West Virginia. Parkersburg was another hot spot recently.
• 29:19
Speaker 12: So we need to protect those the jobs that we
• 29:21
Speaker 12: that should be here. And we you know, if the government,
• 29:24
Speaker 12: the government needs to build to like follow this process
• 29:27
Speaker 12: and if we see that we're making a mistake, then
• 29:30
Speaker 12: back off and fix it. Don't just say well, we
• 29:32
Speaker 12: made the decision and maybe it was the wrong decision,
• 29:34
Speaker 12: but we're going to go with it. I mean, that
• 29:35
Speaker 12: can't be the approach that we take.
• 29:36
Speaker 3: I know you got to get out of here because
• 29:38
Speaker 3: you had a meeting to get to. But one quick
• 29:39
Speaker 3: thirty second question your special session?
• 29:41
  Speaker 7: Any uh uh?
• 29:43
Speaker 12: Any ideas for that? And I know that's it's more
• 29:45
Speaker 12: likely going to happen. What do you get, well, I mean,
• 29:47
  Speaker 12: we'll definitely have one. I can't exactly when. It'll probably
• 29:51
Speaker 12: involve pe I A or at least at one point
• 29:53
  Speaker 12: during this year.
• 29:53
Speaker 7: I think it will.
• 29:55
Speaker 12: And PEI is a good example of how I think
• 29:57
Speaker 12: that we have over promised and under delivered a lot
• 30:00
Speaker 12: of ways. We need to have PIA for our state employees.
• 30:04
Speaker 12: It's a valuable benefit for them, but we have got
• 30:07
Speaker 12: to make some fixes to it before it gets to
• 30:09
Speaker 12: the point where it can be fixed.
• 30:10
Speaker 3: And I just know it.
• 30:11
Speaker 12: I'm being honest, there's going to be some pain. I'm
• 30:13
Speaker 12: sure with whatever fix we come up with, there is
• 30:15
Speaker 12: no perfect solution. But that's something I'm sure we're going
• 30:18
Speaker 12: to be asked to address, and we've got to do
• 30:20
Speaker 12: it responsibly, and we've got to make sure we're fair
• 30:22
Speaker 12: to the people who live and work in the state.
• 30:24
Speaker 3: Delegate, we'll let you go because I know you said
• 30:25
Speaker 3: you had a meeting into Capital to get to, so
• 30:26
Speaker 3: we'll let you get out of here.
• 30:27
Speaker 7: Hey, thanks for having me a man, all right, thanks
• 30:29

• 33:22
Speaker 3: but we're gonna go talk to my friend Tony the
• 33:24
Speaker 3: Taylor on the air. Oh my god, I hope the
• 33:27
Speaker 3: DeLay's working. Text says these centers will not come for
• 33:30
Speaker 3: another eight to ten years. That's what they're not telling
• 33:32
Speaker 3: people if they come at all not enough workers here. Well,
• 33:36
Speaker 3: I will say this, there's I have concerns about the
• 33:40
Speaker 3: workforce for this or any other job because you know
• 33:45
Speaker 3: that thing about that You've heard me say it before.
• 33:47
Speaker 3: I hate to be so negative, but that thing about
• 33:49
Speaker 3: the West Virginia work ethic I be a thing of
• 33:53
Speaker 3: the past. And and we're gonna have to We're gonna
• 33:55
Speaker 3: have to bring people in to work the jobs. I mean,
• 33:58
Speaker 3: it's good again, good problem to have. Let me see.
• 34:03
Speaker 3: Let's checking our friend Tony the Taylor Tony, how you doing?
• 34:09
  Speaker 6: Good morning?
• 34:10
Speaker 7: How are you buddy?
• 34:11
  Speaker 5: All right?
• 34:12
Speaker 3: You're the sponsor of the text line, and senior producer
• 34:14
Speaker 3: Ryan Nicholson pointed out, instead of him calling the show,
• 34:18
Speaker 3: why doesn't he just text in on the on the
• 34:19
Speaker 3: text line that he pays for.
• 34:22
Speaker 6: Probably you wouldn't have to turn the delay on if
• 34:24
  Speaker 6: we did that.
• 34:26
Speaker 3: You're not gonna get any of us fired here, Tony, okay,
• 34:28
Speaker 3: because if not, if not, then you're gonna have to
• 34:30
Speaker 3: fire Ryan. And I'm gonna you're Ryan, and I'm gonna
• 34:33
Speaker 3: have to go down there and work. And I don't
• 34:34
Speaker 3: think anybody dots me tailoring suits.
• 34:36
Speaker 6: What do you got?
• 34:37
Speaker 3: What do you got going on down now? I'm more
• 34:39
Speaker 3: interested in the in the sausages you're growing up.
• 34:41
Speaker 6: She's in pepper Sanwich. So we've got our Brax trunk
• 34:44
Speaker 6: show today, which is our one of my most popular
• 34:47
Speaker 6: trunk shows and one of their biggest trunk shows in
• 34:50
Speaker 6: the country. We have Brax pants, which are casual pants.
• 34:56
Speaker 6: Renee is here with Brax. He's the president of Brax
• 34:58
Speaker 6: and he has the entire collection. We have them at
• 35:02
Speaker 6: twenty percent off each pair, or if you buy three pair,
• 35:04
Speaker 6: you get the fourth pair free. In addition, I'm growing
• 35:08
Speaker 6: out up front, which we historically do in a summer
• 35:11
Speaker 6: trunk show. My famous sausage and pepper sandwiches and I
• 35:15
Speaker 6: have some burgers going also.
• 35:17
Speaker 3: What is it that make sure a sausage and pepper
• 35:19
Speaker 3: sandwich is so famous? Anthony?
• 35:21
Speaker 6: Well, it's my Italian sausage and I'm the grill master.
• 35:27
Speaker 3: Well, as I said, we got into a little discussion
• 35:30
Speaker 3: on the midday show yesterday about Pepperoni rolls because my
• 35:32
Speaker 3: buddy Rob Cornelius out of the Parkersburg area, was in
• 35:36
Speaker 3: town yesterday and brought us some Pepperoni rolls. Up there
• 35:38
Speaker 3: and they were good. But I will say, and that's
• 35:42
Speaker 3: what I was gonna say. They said, I said, these
• 35:44
Speaker 3: do not pass the Tony the Taylor Muster the test
• 35:47
Speaker 3: because they're not stick pepperoni. You say that it's not.
• 35:51
Speaker 3: There's two things I've learned since you and I have
• 35:53
Speaker 3: been friends. Okay, Number one, there's no such thing as
• 35:55
Speaker 3: a black dress shirt. And then in the okay, all right,
• 35:59
Speaker 3: all right? And number two. Number two is is that
• 36:03
Speaker 3: real West Virginia pepperoni rolls can only be used with
• 36:06
Speaker 3: stick pepperoni and no cheese.
• 36:08
Speaker 6: Is that right? Correct? Correct? Cause Country Club Bakery who
• 36:12
Speaker 6: invented them on a mass scale stick pepperoni, all right,
• 36:15
Speaker 6: and that's the standard. If you've had cheese and all
• 36:19
Speaker 6: that other stuff. You got a cal zone, right Stromboli
• 36:21
Speaker 6: if you heat it up.
• 36:22
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's some good stuff, but it's not a traditional
• 36:25
  Speaker 3: it's not delicious.
• 36:26
Speaker 6: But I'm disappointed in Rob Cornelius.
• 36:28
Speaker 3: All right, d And Rob, I'm sure he's listening wherever
• 36:30
Speaker 3: he is right now. All right, So the sale is
• 36:33
Speaker 3: going on now. It started eleven this morning? Is that
• 36:35
  Speaker 3: what you said?
• 36:36
Speaker 6: Starts at eleven and goes to six o'clock tonight.
• 36:38
Speaker 3: Now, I noticed as I was driving in that there's
• 36:41
Speaker 3: some things going on city improvements or whatever going on
• 36:44
Speaker 3: by your store there. It's not going to impact people
• 36:46
Speaker 3: getting down there, right.
• 36:47
Speaker 6: No, they're putting in new fiber line down Hall Street,
• 36:51
Speaker 6: so parking on Hall Street is non existent. You can
• 36:54
Speaker 6: still drive down Hale. We have parking at City National
• 36:57
Speaker 6: Bank in their lot or on the first two floors
• 36:59
Speaker 6: of the City Parking Garage. It hasn't impacted our business.
• 37:02
Speaker 6: We have had the past two weeks have been just
• 37:05
Speaker 6: completely busy. So nobody has not come in here because
• 37:09
Speaker 6: they couldn't get a parking right beside the store. There's
• 37:12
Speaker 6: plenty of other parking downtown.
• 37:13
  Speaker 14: Now.
• 37:14
Speaker 3: Now, hold on, Tony, hold on, Now, I thought downtown
• 37:16
Speaker 3: Charleston was dead. I thought, I mean, I get calls
• 37:19
Speaker 3: and textabout at all the time. There's nothing in downtown Charleston.
• 37:22
Speaker 6: People confuse the town center with downtown Charleston. It's two
• 37:25
Speaker 6: separate things completely. But your business is good, right, phenomenal,
• 37:30
Speaker 6: phenomenal people come downtown. Our traffic is big. We have
• 37:33
Speaker 6: a big foot traffic because there's a lot of people downtown.
• 37:36
Speaker 6: She went downtown last night, packed pat the guy here
• 37:40
Speaker 6: for an a and raxing is man. There's all kinds
• 37:42
Speaker 6: of people downtown last night, right all right, all.
• 37:45
Speaker 3: Right, so the brax trunk and I will tell you
• 37:49
Speaker 3: I'm a satisfied customer of the braxpans. You sold me
• 37:51
Speaker 3: on those, and they're they're absolutely there there fans today
• 37:54
  Speaker 3: later as advertised.
• 37:55
Speaker 6: And you want no tarrace made in Europe?
• 37:58
Speaker 3: All right, Tony, I don't know if I'm gonna be
• 38:00
Speaker 3: able to get down there today or not, because they
• 38:02
Speaker 3: have me working you know, like two jobs here now.
• 38:04
Speaker 6: Actually, well, I'm gonna send with Amanda a couple sandwiches somehow.
• 38:07
Speaker 6: I'll get him there if your cohort can't give here,
• 38:10
Speaker 6: but I'll even maybe bring him up personally.
• 38:13
Speaker 3: Well, now, Ryan Nicholson is producing the show this afternoon,
• 38:17
Speaker 3: he tells me. And so I don't know that Amanda
• 38:20
  Speaker 3: Baron is a is a big I just don't see
• 38:24
  Speaker 3: a man of chound down on. I don't see a
• 38:25
Speaker 3: man of choundown on a sausage sandwich. I'll say that. However,
• 38:28
Speaker 3: Ryan Nicholson, who knows a little something about the restaurant business,
• 38:32
Speaker 3: our producer here. I think he and I would would
• 38:35
Speaker 3: would thoroughly enjoy if you would do that.
• 38:39
Speaker 6: You sent somebody now, if you can spend, send miss
• 38:41
Speaker 6: spride Down. She likes my sausage and she's and we'll
• 38:46
Speaker 6: put her as a delivery girl.
• 38:48
Speaker 3: All right, buddy, I appreciate you. We'll talk again soon,
• 38:51
Speaker 3: and take care of me because I spend a lot
• 38:53
Speaker 3: of money. Actually, my wife spends a lot of money
• 38:54
  Speaker 3: down there.
• 38:55
Speaker 6: Your wife spends a lot of money here.
• 38:58
  Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
• 38:58
  Speaker 9: Bad things.
• 38:59
Speaker 3: Thank you, Da Tony. I need to do a follow
• 39:03
Speaker 3: up from yesterday's show. We told you about the folks
• 39:06
Speaker 3: from Liberty Row out on Bridge Road having this contest
• 39:09
Speaker 3: where they're asking you their customers to help them come
• 39:11
Speaker 3: up with a name for what would be their ninth child.
• 39:15
Speaker 3: That's right nine. And you can go to their website
• 39:18
Speaker 3: because somebody had texted after we had Bobby Spry on
• 39:20
Speaker 3: the show talking about it yesterday and somebody texted, and
• 39:24
Speaker 3: I wanted to know about the website. It didn't have
• 39:25
Speaker 3: it in front of me at the time. I do now,
• 39:26
Speaker 3: So if you want to get in on this, their
• 39:29
Speaker 3: website is real. Just go to their their website to
• 39:33
Speaker 3: submit your ideas. And I just lost the website. How
• 39:38
Speaker 3: cool is that? I thought I put it in my
• 39:40
Speaker 3: notes and I didn't hold on one second, and I
• 39:42

• 40:58
Speaker 3: here's the kicker. In order for kids to take part
• 41:01
Speaker 3: in the bike raffle, they have to have a GPA
• 41:04
Speaker 3: of three point five or higher and fewer than ten
• 41:08
Speaker 3: absences from school and the kids also must be residents

• 41:17
Speaker 3: about this, think this is an awesome idea, especially with
• 41:20
Speaker 3: the grade requirement and the non absence requirements. I think,

Speaker 3: appears to be on hole. Not it ain't dead, it

Speaker 3: ain't dying, but it's in a holding pattern right now.

  Speaker 8: Now.
• 47:27
Speaker 3: On the show yesterday, Knawa County Commissioned President Ben Selango
• 47:30
Speaker 3: says there's around a seven million dollar budget gap and
• 47:36
Speaker 3: it's and I appreciate Ben being on the show yesterday
• 47:39
Speaker 3: and kind of breaking it down for us. And again,
• 47:40
Speaker 3: if you want to read how the budget gap happened,
• 47:43
Speaker 3: go to Cat Skelton story WV metro News dot com.
• 47:46
Speaker 3: She does a great job of explaining what Ben Zelango
• 47:49
Speaker 3: was explaining on the show yesterday. Basically, you know, it's
• 47:53
Speaker 3: it's a work in progress and they were counting on
• 47:56
Speaker 3: some money out of the federal budget that that simply
• 48:01
Speaker 3: did not happen. I will say that Senator Shelley Moore Capito,
• 48:05
Speaker 3: as Ben Selango said on the show yesterday, Senator Shelley
• 48:08
Speaker 3: Moore Capito has been a major proponent of the Capitol
• 48:13
Speaker 3: Sports Center, and she appears to be disappointed about it,
• 48:18
Speaker 3: if you recall, and in Cat's story, she's got a
• 48:21
Speaker 3: picture posted from the day that did the press conference there.
• 48:23
Speaker 3: Then Senator Joe Manchin was on hand as also a
• 48:26
Speaker 3: big proponent as well, not saying, you know, the thing
• 48:28
Speaker 3: is not going to get done. It it's just on
• 48:30
Speaker 3: hold until they figure out how to close this gap.
• 48:34
Speaker 3: This budget gap. It's about a seven million dollar budget
• 48:37
Speaker 3: gap according to Commissioned President to Solango. So basically, if
• 48:42
Speaker 3: you got about seven million dollars, they can give you
• 48:44
Speaker 3: a state of the art sports center, and look, a
• 48:47
Speaker 3: lot of the money has already been allocated. So it's
• 48:49
Speaker 3: not like that, you know that it's I guess it's
• 48:53
Speaker 3: not like it's dead. It's just this was one part
• 48:55
Speaker 3: of it, but it was a pretty pretty dang big
• 48:57
Speaker 3: part of it. It's seven seven million dollars. I have
• 49:01
Speaker 3: been on day one a major proponent of the Sports
• 49:06
Speaker 3: Center because I know what it's going to bring to
• 49:10
Speaker 3: downtown Charleston and the surrounding areas. And I keep a
• 49:13
Speaker 3: close eye on my wallet and your wallet and taxpayers wallet,
• 49:17
Speaker 3: just as anybody else does. But as a friend of
• 49:21
Speaker 3: mine and I were talking the other day, and he's
• 49:22
Speaker 3: as conservative as they come. He said, look, things like
• 49:24
Speaker 3: this are investments in the community. This is going to
• 49:27
Speaker 3: bring people. And go back to my interview that I
• 49:30
Speaker 3: did with the Hurricane mayor Scott Edwards. I had him
• 49:33
Speaker 3: on the show earlier to talk about their Main Street
• 49:35
Speaker 3: Spring Festival that they're doing in Hurricane on Saturday, and
• 49:38
Speaker 3: he talked about what's going on at Valley Park this weekend.
• 49:42
Speaker 3: A major, major sports tournament is going on with thirty
• 49:46
Speaker 3: two teams coming into Valley Park from all over the nation.
• 49:53
Speaker 3: So you got thirty two teams there and again parents
• 49:55
Speaker 3: and grandparents. You know the way these tournaments work. People
• 50:00
Speaker 3: kid could play a game at nine am and then
• 50:01
Speaker 3: doesn't play again until seven o'clock that night. What are
• 50:04
Speaker 3: you gonna do? Are you gonna sit there and eat
• 50:05
Speaker 3: popcorn in the stands. No, you're gonna go and you're
• 50:08
Speaker 3: gonna go to a restaurant. You're going to go see
• 50:10
Speaker 3: what people have to offer around town, in the town
• 50:12
Speaker 3: that you're not in that often, and that this is
• 50:16
Speaker 3: why we need things like this, and we it would
• 50:18
Speaker 3: be a major, major thing to have this in downtown Charleston,
• 50:22
Speaker 3: and I'm confident that they're gonna been able to get
• 50:25
Speaker 3: it done. It may be a little smaller, and you know,
• 50:28
Speaker 3: we had a texture of the show yesterday that said
• 50:30
Speaker 3: why not have this somewhere else? And they mentioned Coonskin
• 50:33
Speaker 3: or whatever. I mean, great facility, but it's not going
• 50:37
Speaker 3: to bring the people to downtown Charleston that this thing
• 50:41
Speaker 3: was designed to do. And again, all these events at
• 50:43
Speaker 3: any given weekend at the Connal Seeman Convention Center, you
• 50:47
Speaker 3: got three to four different activities going on. They don't
• 50:49
Speaker 3: all make the news because they're not all you know,
• 50:51
Speaker 3: the Morgan walland concerts. I mean, there's a lot of
• 50:53
Speaker 3: other things going on that the parents know about and
• 50:56
Speaker 3: the grandparents know about that maybe it just doesn't get
• 50:58
Speaker 3: a lot of publicity, which is understandable. Well, he had
• 51:00
Speaker 3: stuff going on all the time and this Capital Sports Center.
• 51:05
Speaker 3: You know, I'm very much in prayer, as we would
• 51:09
Speaker 3: say growing up, because I really want to hopefully get
• 51:12
Speaker 3: this thing done. Tex says, I saw a tweet or
• 51:14
Speaker 3: whatever from Trump saying that the current stock market is
• 51:18
Speaker 3: the Biden market. That differs from him saying in January
• 51:21
Speaker 3: twenty twenty four when the market was up that it's
• 51:24
Speaker 3: his stock market at it differs from November when he
• 51:27
Speaker 3: also claimed the stock market was his when it was up.
• 51:31
Speaker 3: And Maga's wonder why people think Trump is stupid. Well,
• 51:35
Speaker 3: I will say this. I think sometimes our president plays
• 51:41
Speaker 3: a little loose with the facts sometimes, and he does
• 51:45
Speaker 3: change his mind a lot, and you've got to be
• 51:47
Speaker 3: consistent on those sorts of things. We got to TJ.
• 51:52
Speaker 3: Oh by the way, I had a couple of text here.
• 51:54
  Speaker 6: I didn't read.
• 51:55

• 51:59
  Speaker 3: find it now. Oh it's a boy, j b Acres.
• 52:00

• 52:16
Speaker 3: busy doing an interview, I think right.
• 52:18
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 52:18
Speaker 8: We recorded one with Shelley. She's up first at ten
• 52:20
Speaker 8: oh six. So we'll hear from our state senator. One
• 52:23
Speaker 8: of them are US Senator Shelley Capita coming up at
