- 0:04Speaker 1: The Great Salakata is with us the Salakata Show wherever
- 0:07Speaker 1: you get your podcast. He is keeping horse racing alive.
- 0:10Speaker 1: He is one of the people in the younger demographic
- 0:13Speaker 1: who is keeping horse racing alive. We'll get Wow, you
- 0:16Speaker 1: have something on horse racing. I know you went to
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Bellmont. Before we get to the next go ahead.
- 0:20Speaker 2: What I love Saratoga and Sarahtoga was hosting the Belmont
- 0:25Speaker 2: for the third straight year. Yeah. I went into Bill
- 0:27Speaker 2: Parcells there, had we had some fun. I love. Yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 2: I love Saratoga in the summer. It's great.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Oh, it's fantastic. I gotta tell you of all the
- 0:33Speaker 1: places I've been to see Dead and Company shows, dead shows,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I'm not certain I've taken more mushrooms anywhere else in
- 0:39Speaker 1: America than I have in Saratoga. How about that?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Huh, I've heard. I've never been to that venue, but
- 0:45Speaker 2: I've heard it's great for a concert.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Spack is fantastic. Yes, So you were hanging out with
- 0:49Speaker 1: Big Tuna at the Belmont Stakes. Huh. I mean that's
- 0:52Speaker 1: that's pretty exciting stuff for you him and his girlfriend.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a week. I had an interview set
- 0:58Speaker 2: up through a mutual friend talk to him for about
- 1:00Speaker 2: five minutes. He was enjoying the scenes. It was great.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yeah, did you bet the winning horse or I mean.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I did win money that day, not on that race necessarily,
- 1:10Speaker 2: but I did win some money. Anytime you could go
- 1:11Speaker 2: there and not lose money, I think it's great. So
- 1:13Speaker 2: it was nice. I paid for dinner I had. I
- 1:15Speaker 2: had a great hanging out with Tuna. I played a
- 1:17Speaker 2: little golf stude the next day. Very nice to have
- 1:20Speaker 2: you played Saratoga National. It's a beautiful golf.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I have played it. It's wonderful. Yes, you played it
- 1:24Speaker 1: with Tuna. I mean I did.
- 1:26Speaker 2: No, I did not play it with Tuna. I played
- 1:28Speaker 2: it with a mutual friend. Was not there. I don't
- 1:30Speaker 2: want to play it eighty five.
- 1:33Speaker 3: So I didn't think my day could get any worse.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And then we started talking about horse racing.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I mean, Sala said he went to the Fucking'm sorry,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I cursed. Sala said he went to the Belmont Stakes.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I mean, what do you want me to do? I
- 1:41Speaker 1: was excited for him, and then we brought, you know,
- 1:43Speaker 1: a whole spec conversation broke out and suddenly he's with
- 1:45Speaker 1: big Tuna. I mean I'm sorry I got excited for
- 1:48Speaker 1: a moment.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Dolphin horse racing.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I mean, because I've said horse racing is dead. The
- 1:51Speaker 1: second horse won the Triple Crown, everyone stopped caring about it,
- 1:55Speaker 1: and South clearly he's he's I'm alone. I mean, I
- 1:58Speaker 1: stopped caring about it, but still cares about it very
- 2:02Speaker 1: very much.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I think that's a stretch. I just care about having
- 2:05Speaker 2: a good time hanging out of the track. I don't
- 2:06Speaker 2: know if I necessarily care. It's fun. I'm not trying
- 2:09Speaker 2: to save the sport, all right, tal any thoughts on
- 2:11Speaker 2: the French Open or anything else.
- 2:15Speaker 1: To get.
- 2:19Speaker 2: What do you think about the French though? I mean
- 2:22Speaker 2: French Open. I don't know the French. Wemby's French, right,
- 2:25Speaker 2: That's what I would say about that.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yes, Taylor put this on the poll here when talking
- 2:29Speaker 1: about Wemby. Is the term scumbag too strong? Taylor called
- 2:34Speaker 1: him a scumbag earlier? Also put this on the poll.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Is Wemby a dirty basketball player? Sally your thoughts?
- 2:41Speaker 2: I would agree with Taylor. I don't know if I
- 2:43Speaker 2: would put it this way. That word came into my mind.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I did not use it on the air on the podcast,
- 2:48Speaker 2: but that word, I think Taylor is onto something with that.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I don't know if I would label him a dirty player.
- 2:52Speaker 2: He did something on the floor that was so dirty
- 2:55Speaker 2: that I have not felt that level of rage for
- 2:59Speaker 2: a sporting of since Game two of the two thousand
- 3:02Speaker 2: World Series, where I wanted to jump out of my
- 3:04Speaker 2: seat and go attack Roger Clemens himself for throwing the
- 3:07Speaker 2: bat at piazza. That's how I felt last night. If
- 3:10Speaker 2: I could afford the ten grand to get in, I
- 3:12Speaker 2: would have wanted to run on the court. And I'm
- 3:14Speaker 2: like that idiot who took the selfie with himself and Wemby,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I would have liked to elbow him in the ribs.
- 3:19Speaker 2: If this was the nineties, Wemby would have been playing
- 3:21Speaker 2: that game. Would have broken eye socket and broken ribs
- 3:23Speaker 2: the rest of that way, So you can't do that.
- 3:25Speaker 2: He threw the guy down there, strowed down, and the
- 3:26Speaker 2: Knicks didn't do anything.
- 3:28Speaker 3: So here's the evidence against Victor Wenbinama. This postseason, he
- 3:32Speaker 3: elbowed Nasrid. He told his teammates to target OKC players,
- 3:37Speaker 3: which resulted in Mason Plumley taking out Jared McCain. The
- 3:41Speaker 3: Alvarado box out in Game two, the Brunton playing Game three,
- 3:46Speaker 3: the dirtiest Player of the Year. That's the deep poy
- 3:48Speaker 3: that Wenby should have won.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Is the dpoy that Wemby
- 3:53Speaker 1: should have won the dirtiest Player of the year. I'm
- 3:58Speaker 1: gonna vote yes on it just because it's fun, I mean.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And so when Bin Yama is two flagrant foul points
- 4:06Speaker 3: away this postseason from getting suspended, him and Josh Hart's
- 4:10Speaker 3: landing area could have been one. Him shoving Brunson down
- 4:13Speaker 3: by the neck should have been one. If the NBA
- 4:16Speaker 3: had a spine. Today they come out and they say
- 4:19Speaker 3: NB retroactively assessed a flagrant one for the hit and
- 4:23Speaker 3: shoved to the back of Brunson's head and neck area,
- 4:26Speaker 3: and then he's just one more flagrant foul point away
- 4:29Speaker 3: from being suspended in the NBA Finals, which would be
- 4:31Speaker 3: a terrible look for the NBA.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I knew you could rescind, obviously, because they did that
- 4:35Speaker 2: with Mitchell Robinson. I didn't know you could post retroactive
- 4:38Speaker 2: give him a flagrant. That to me is the least
- 4:40Speaker 2: that they should do. How they missed that like a
- 4:43Speaker 2: if that happened and a flagrant was cold, I still
- 4:45Speaker 2: would have been enraged. But b how that happens and
- 4:48Speaker 2: there's no foul. I mean, well, the Knicks are having
- 4:50Speaker 2: fat and I'm not one to complain about the refs,
- 4:52Speaker 2: but I think the officiating has been bad in these
- 4:54Speaker 2: three games, in particular last night. How was that not
- 4:56Speaker 2: a flagrant? Even Brunton gets cold for a flagrant when
- 4:59Speaker 2: clearly was incidental to me at least he was turning
- 5:01Speaker 2: the other way. I don't think he meant any harm
- 5:03Speaker 2: there with being in the shooters lane to fold down whatever.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Wemby should have had a flagrant, And you're right, Taylor,
- 5:09Speaker 2: if they can do that, I don't know that was
- 5:10Speaker 2: in the rule books. Then he at the veryly it
- 5:13Speaker 2: wouldn't do anything for me now, but at the very
- 5:15Speaker 2: least he should be assessed to flagrant.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Sal Am I making this too simple when I say
- 5:18Speaker 1: these two teams. You can talk about the referees all
- 5:21Speaker 1: you want. You can talk about the Nicks getting jobbed
- 5:23Speaker 1: all you want. Am I making it too simple when
- 5:25Speaker 1: I say these two teams are evenly matched, they're gonna
- 5:28Speaker 1: play seven games. If they played seven games, they would
- 5:31Speaker 1: all come down to the wire and some of those
- 5:33Speaker 1: games you're gonna win, and some of those games you're
- 5:35Speaker 1: gonna lose.
- 5:35Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, this is what we call a series. Yes,
- 5:40Speaker 2: it's like fans forget like, oh, you win game one,
- 5:43Speaker 2: you gonna win a little, you win game two, it's over. Literally,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I had I couldn't believe that this happened. I take
- 5:48Speaker 2: the train into from New Jersey into the city. We
- 5:50Speaker 2: get to the city for the first time ever. The
- 5:52Speaker 2: conductor on this path train goes, Welcome to New York.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And I've done this, I do this every day, never
- 5:57Speaker 2: says this, Welcome to New York, the home of the
- 5:59Speaker 2: twenty twenty six NBA champion New York Knicks. Yep, oh,
- 6:03Speaker 2: mich are you kidding me? You aniot? What are you doing?
- 6:05Speaker 2: And he's not alone, because everybody else in this town
- 6:08Speaker 2: thought that it's over after two games, and now what
- 6:11Speaker 2: you're gonna have happened is the opposite. Oh my god,
- 6:14Speaker 2: they lost and they stink and the rest there. So
- 6:16Speaker 2: that it's a series. You win one, you win too.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You lose one, you lose to your rights to These
- 6:22Speaker 2: are the two best teams in the NBA playing a
- 6:25Speaker 2: best of seven series. Yes, see how far it goes,
- 6:28Speaker 2: but it wasn't gonna be a sweep.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yes, the series, well, I think nick fans were holding
- 6:32Speaker 1: out that it would be a sweep because there was
- 6:34Speaker 1: a celebration leading up to Game three. Nick fans would
- 6:37Speaker 1: prefer they'd be up three to nothing. You and I
- 6:40Speaker 1: doing what we do for a living, perhaps like the
- 6:42Speaker 1: storylines of a best of seven series. In this particular case,
- 6:45Speaker 1: I don't. I want the Knicks to win this thing
- 6:47Speaker 1: and win it as quickly as possible. But your larger
- 6:50Speaker 1: point is right, A series is a roller coaster where
- 6:54Speaker 1: twenty four hours ago it's a coronation and you're celebrating
- 6:58Speaker 1: the Knicks winning an NBA championship. At twenty four hours later,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you could see the other side of it where they
- 7:04Speaker 1: don't win an NBA championship because they're playing one of
- 7:07Speaker 1: the best players we've ever seen in a team that
- 7:09Speaker 1: is really, really solid. That's what a series is all about.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the panic comes from some Knicks fans,
- 7:17Speaker 3: and I put Knicks fans in quotation marks. They're experiencing
- 7:21Speaker 3: their first loss today, and I get it. This is
- 7:24Speaker 3: a lot of Johnny cum latelyis have have been long
- 7:27Speaker 3: for this thirteen game win streak. There have been seventy
- 7:31Speaker 3: nine NBA finals played since the league started in nineteen
- 7:35Speaker 3: forty seven. There's been nine sweeps. That's less than twelve percent.
- 7:38Speaker 3: This isn't supposed to be easy. Still, you know, if
- 7:41Speaker 3: it was easy, James Harden would have done it, Chris
- 7:43Speaker 3: Paul would have done it, Joel Embiid would have done it.
- 7:46Speaker 3: So let's roll our sleeves up and let's get ready
- 7:49Speaker 3: for Game four. Let's go win game four.
- 7:51Speaker 1: That's what I starting to turn the corner sout. I
- 7:53Speaker 1: like it. Yes, he is starting to regain some positivity
- 7:59Speaker 1: and some color in.
- 7:59Speaker 2: His Yes, it's the right mindset. I felt. I was
- 8:04Speaker 2: nervous after two, especially when everybody was talking sweep. I'm like,
- 8:06Speaker 2: there's no way it's gonna be this easy, not against
- 8:09Speaker 2: a team like that. But now, okay, so they lost
- 8:12Speaker 2: the game, big deal. I'm still confident that they were
- 8:14Speaker 2: going to win Game four and then take it commanding
- 8:17Speaker 2: three game to one lead back to San Antonio. So yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 2: I mean, this is what happens. It shouldn't be the
- 8:22Speaker 2: end of the world just because they lost the game.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You lose the game, you move on. Okay, now you're
- 8:26Speaker 2: still in a great spot up two games to one
- 8:28Speaker 2: at home. Everybody would have signed for that, Taylor. I
- 8:30Speaker 2: saw your post on social media. Couldn't agree more. You
- 8:33Speaker 2: would sign before the series up to one going into
- 8:35Speaker 2: game four. Now they got to go out there and deliver,
- 8:37Speaker 2: that's the thing. But that's how series work. I still
- 8:39Speaker 2: feel that the Knicks are gonna win this series. It's unfortunate,
- 8:42Speaker 2: it's not gonna be the easy way, but of course
- 8:45Speaker 2: it's Last night was the reality that it stopped going
- 8:48Speaker 2: from fun, which it's been for the Knicks in this postseason,
- 8:50Speaker 2: winning thirteen straight, most of them by blowouts. The fun
- 8:53Speaker 2: went away and now it becomes torture and there's pain
- 8:57Speaker 2: involved and all those different things. The fun went out
- 8:59Speaker 2: the window. This is the angst, the anxiety that you
- 9:02Speaker 2: feel throughout a course of a series is certainly an
- 9:04Speaker 2: NBA Finals.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Taylor is right, of course, it's it's what he says. Yes,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I would have taken two to one headed into Game
- 9:10Speaker 1: four if you told me that before the series started.
- 9:12Speaker 2: But it's how you get to two to one.
- 9:14Speaker 1: It's how you arrive at two games to one, and
- 9:17Speaker 1: they arrived there a little bit differently the most teams
- 9:20Speaker 1: do in the NBA Finals. Sal by winning two games
- 9:23Speaker 1: on the road, and it did feel like a celebration.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't know if you told Nick fans hey before
- 9:28Speaker 1: Game three, it's gonna be two to one after three
- 9:31Speaker 1: games before the series, yes, before the game, they would
- 9:34Speaker 1: have been like, what are you out of your mind?
- 9:35Speaker 2: No, I want to be up three to zero, you know, right,
- 9:37Speaker 2: they expected to be up. The expectations completely changed from
- 9:40Speaker 2: where they were in game one. Yes, in game two,
- 9:42Speaker 2: where the expectation was Spurs are gonna win game one,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and then when the next one game one, well, Spurs
- 9:46Speaker 2: are definitely gonna win game two. Right, all of a sudden,
- 9:49Speaker 2: Nicks up to Oh. The expectation went from the Spurs
- 9:52Speaker 2: expected to win. Then it's all on the the expectation
- 9:55Speaker 2: that it's gonnaweep this series and beat the Spurs. So
- 9:57Speaker 2: that obviously completely changed it. My biggest concern with the
- 10:00Speaker 2: whole thing is that I don't think the Knicks will
- 10:02Speaker 2: played great in three games. It's not one like if
- 10:04Speaker 2: you don't play great for one game and steal it. Okay,
- 10:07Speaker 2: Game two had some moments, still didn't play a great
- 10:09Speaker 2: game and we're able to steal that game three, you
- 10:11Speaker 2: don't play well again, Like the Knicks have to start
- 10:15Speaker 2: playing some better basketball here to win the championship. They
- 10:17Speaker 2: cannot get by the Spurs playing with the way that
- 10:20Speaker 2: they have played three straight games.
- 10:22Speaker 4: The problem is the expectations versus history. I feel like
- 10:26Speaker 4: the Knicks history is worth two games, and all of
- 10:28Speaker 4: a sudden, you feel like you're down three two because
- 10:30Speaker 4: you've seen the Knicks so many times get close and
- 10:34Speaker 4: then not be able to finish it that we've kind
- 10:37Speaker 4: of been waiting as Knick fans for the other shoot
- 10:40Speaker 4: to drop and be like, oh no, the shot went in.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Oh no, that happened.
- 10:44Speaker 4: So it feels like this game brought them back to
- 10:48Speaker 4: reality and the reality hasn't been good for decades.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But it's one It's one loss. I think about all
- 10:53Speaker 2: the Knick fans will waiting to be brought to they well,
- 10:55Speaker 2: thirteen straight games, they lose one, and nobody should be
- 10:57Speaker 2: jumping off the ship or the bridge or whatever you
- 10:59Speaker 2: want to it's one game, Like it's they lost a
- 11:03Speaker 2: game to a great freaking team. He took everything the
- 11:05Speaker 2: sports have had for three games to be able to
- 11:07Speaker 2: beat the Knicks one so far.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, when you jump off what are you jumping off?
- 11:11Speaker 1: Is it a bandwagon? Is it the ship? What is it?
- 11:13Speaker 1: I mean ship?
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I don't know's that's a good point, Taylor.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Are you accounting? Are you doing accounting here? And who's
- 11:19Speaker 1: jumping off the ship and who's jumping on the ship.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Why do I need Bob Kraft in the front row
- 11:23Speaker 1: court side last night at the next game?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Seriously? Whose decision was that?
- 11:27Speaker 1: It's a terrible decision. I don't need the guy at
- 11:30Speaker 1: the world's most famous arena who is synonymous with the
- 11:34Speaker 1: New England Patriots, a team that.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Everyone in New York gates. I don't want to see
- 11:38Speaker 2: that guy court side at a Knicks game. Same with
- 11:41Speaker 2: Jeter and same with Eli. Get the hell out of here.
- 11:44Speaker 2: How many games has Jeter been too stock? Too far?
- 11:47Speaker 2: You went too far?
- 11:49Speaker 3: You were with and you you knew what the second
- 11:53Speaker 3: you said.
- 11:55Speaker 2: You tried to sneak that one. The issue with Jeter
- 12:01Speaker 2: and Eli is that it was part of the coronation.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Here are the two guys that have won. Here are
- 12:07Speaker 2: the two winners, with Eli with his two Super Bowls,
- 12:09Speaker 2: Jeter with his billion rings. That's the bar. The only
- 12:12Speaker 2: thing missing was MESSI A yeah, and they were coordinating. Hey, Jalen,
- 12:16Speaker 2: this is gonna be like, that's gonna be your spot
- 12:18Speaker 2: right next to those guys. They did it when they
- 12:20Speaker 2: were up to Oh like you do that for a
- 12:22Speaker 2: clincher or after the fact.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That was too much. Yep, you're right, so Stu.
- 12:26Speaker 3: You shouldn't have taken astray at Eli shouldn't have taken
- 12:29Speaker 3: Jeter Craft.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Where are you where? Yes?
- 12:32Speaker 3: Where you could have gone after Craft? Did Fat Joe
- 12:35Speaker 3: use his plus one ticket on DJ Khaled Miami Heat Superfan?
- 12:39Speaker 3: He didn't look up from his phone for one second
- 12:41Speaker 3: that game.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I know he was on the phone. He was actually
- 12:44Speaker 1: talking on the phone DJ Khaled during the game court side.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It was it was I mean, I was out, Yes.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Can we can we play one table? Did we do
- 12:52Speaker 2: this with Jeter Eli Brunson. You want to throw in
- 12:56Speaker 2: Kalid or Fat Joe or crab whatever.
- 12:58Speaker 1: But it's funny how that game change as you put
- 13:00Speaker 1: Karl Anthony Towns out there today and probably he might
- 13:03Speaker 1: not get the table anymore. I mean, same with Becale Bridges.
- 13:09Speaker 2: And DJ Khaled. You're right, Hea fan shouldn't be allowed
- 13:11Speaker 2: in the building, which, by the way, I was nervous
- 13:14Speaker 2: going into the game last night. So me and my
- 13:16Speaker 2: buddies were talking about, Hey, if we hop on this now,
- 13:19Speaker 2: the Knicks are probably gonna lose one of these next
- 13:21Speaker 2: two games. Let's get tickets for game five in San Antonio,
- 13:24Speaker 2: which could be the potential clincher. Boy, and we go
- 13:27Speaker 2: through it. It's thousands of dollars. So I'm like, all right,
- 13:29Speaker 2: do I really want to do this? Whose card are
- 13:31Speaker 2: we gonna go on? And then we found the seat.
- 13:33Speaker 2: All right, this isn't that bad. Let's do it. We
- 13:35Speaker 2: get to the moment I clicked the yes here it is,
- 13:38Speaker 2: putting all my card info, the thing circling. I get
- 13:41Speaker 2: that rush of adrenaline. I'm like, holy cow, man, I
- 13:43Speaker 2: just did it. We're going to San Antonio. I'll book
- 13:45Speaker 2: the flights after this game and it pops up. Locals
- 13:50Speaker 2: only not allowed to purchase tickets. You'll be refunded. I
- 13:54Speaker 2: can't buy tickets to the game in San Antonio because
- 13:56Speaker 2: I'm out from there yet. DJ khaled, This, damn heat fan,
- 14:00Speaker 2: You're sitting courtside for the Nick game. What's wrong? I
- 14:02Speaker 2: can't even buy tickets to san Antonio.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Legally, that is shocking san Antonio.
- 14:07Speaker 2: No, I didn't know that that was the thing. I
- 14:11Speaker 2: thought Philly tried to do that with the nick fans.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I didn't realize that that was the thing where you
- 14:15Speaker 2: couldn't just and I'm not you know, I'm not trying
- 14:17Speaker 2: to look at the secondary Morkets or whatever the price
- 14:19Speaker 2: may be there. But on ticket Master I wasn't allowed
- 14:21Speaker 2: to do that. I don't think that was right.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Wow. So Taylor, are you think of the same thing,
- 14:24Speaker 1: perhaps a trip to Game five? Are you staying in
- 14:26Speaker 1: New York? Because they're one and ones that you arrived, so.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I would do a little road trip at South South.
- 14:34Speaker 2: You were in New York. I didn't even realize you
- 14:35Speaker 2: were in New York. You don't tell me you're in
- 14:37Speaker 2: town or here through the weekend. We gotta get together
- 14:39Speaker 2: for game five. I betrayed him.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Sorry, Yeah, so people, no, sokoo where I am?
- 14:45Speaker 2: So?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Well, you didn't tell keep saying how long am I
- 14:47Speaker 3: in New York for? And I just keep saying, hopefully
- 14:50Speaker 3: the day after the parade?
- 14:53Speaker 2: But that parade?
- 14:54Speaker 3: Well never return flight?
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yes, yes, but would you go to game five? Sal
- 14:58Speaker 1: wants to hang out for game five. He is not
- 15:00Speaker 1: specifying whether it's in New York or in San Antonio.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I would like to go. Do you know anybody within
- 15:04Speaker 2: the zip code, the proper zip code that could get
- 15:07Speaker 2: us into San Antonio? I'd did to going. If not,
- 15:09Speaker 2: you're more than welcome come over a little Watch party
- 15:11Speaker 2: at my house. Oh wow, Yeah you could come too
- 15:13Speaker 2: if you'd like.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Oh wow, appreciate have a san Antonio person I had.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Have you hook you up?
- 15:19Speaker 1: Have you run this little Watch party by your wife?
- 15:22Speaker 2: Or no? No, I'm not a cut up in the moment, Stu.
- 15:24Speaker 2: It's game five of the me and father. Doesn't that
- 15:26Speaker 2: she'll have to go out with her friends or something.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I don't know, were gonna have a party at my house.
- 15:29Speaker 1: So the first time she's gonna realize you're having a
- 15:31Speaker 1: party is with Taylor and Mikey. A knock on the door,
- 15:36Speaker 1: let me know that I'll pass, by the way.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I hate to sound bougie sal Yeah, just send me
- 15:43Speaker 3: a picture of your your setup.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Put it this way. I will, I will, and I
- 15:47Speaker 2: guarantee you will be in once I send you the
- 15:50Speaker 2: picture to By the way, the out with the wife
- 15:51Speaker 2: is that well. I was gonna go to San Antonio.
- 15:54Speaker 2: So it's either me and San Antonio and away for
- 15:56Speaker 2: the weekend, or me, Taylor, Mikey, whoever comes over and
- 15:59Speaker 2: hangs out watch the game.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Let me tell you her preference. Okay, before you before
- 16:02Speaker 1: this discussion goes any further, it's you and San Antonio
- 16:05Speaker 1: for as long as you'd like to be.
- 16:07Speaker 2: In San Antonio.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Okay, take a couple extra days, you know.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, I don't know if that's true, because
- 16:14Speaker 2: even in Saratoga, which is only a two and a
- 16:16Speaker 2: half drive away, I'm getting a call from her. Oh
- 16:18Speaker 2: there's a bad storm. The pool is cloudy. I go, Oh,
- 16:21Speaker 2: there any big branches or something in the pool? Oh,
- 16:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I can't see. I'm like, well, you
- 16:24Speaker 2: gotta get you gotta clean up if there's a big
- 16:26Speaker 2: stick or something like that. And then she's like, I
- 16:28Speaker 2: got locked outside. Like how do you get locked outside?
- 16:30Speaker 2: The back door locked itself somehow automatically? I go, It
- 16:33Speaker 2: doesn't lock itself automatically, would you do? And then why
- 16:37Speaker 2: didn't you just go in? Why didn't you use the
- 16:38Speaker 2: pass code to the garage? I don't know the past code?
- 16:41Speaker 2: Why didn't you text me. I left my phone inside.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I'm like, can I just can I bet the raise
- 16:46Speaker 2: watuna here? I'm trying to watch them.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm in Saratoga.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's the most needed you've ever felt. That
- 16:57Speaker 2: is true. Oh wait, she needs me.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, is not for much, but she needs me to
- 17:03Speaker 1: get in from the door that she thinks is locked.
- 17:06Speaker 2: It never locks. Oh, we need to change the garage code.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I need something to remember him. Wait, it's four numbers.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I've told you them a hundred times. You can't remember it.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yes, absence makes the heart grow fonder, Sally, you know
- 17:20Speaker 1: that's I mean, you go away more often.
- 17:22Speaker 2: She'll see how.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Badly she needs you around the house.
- 17:24Speaker 2: You know more, I think more. I think about it.
- 17:26Speaker 2: We need to go to San Anto.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I want to go to just stay there in the
- 17:30Speaker 1: event that there's a game seven, you know, be there
- 17:35Speaker 1: for like a week.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Wait, so Fat Joe was there?
- 17:40Speaker 1: Are we certain that he brought DJ khaled as as
- 17:43Speaker 1: his plus one? Do we know that? Or was dj
- 17:45Speaker 1: khaled gifted a ticket? By the next What happened there?
- 17:48Speaker 3: So there's there's almost no way the Knicks gifted dj
- 17:51Speaker 3: kwed to ticket. I think he either bought the ticket
- 17:55Speaker 3: or Fat Joe brought him as his plus one because
- 17:58Speaker 3: they're they're pretty close. They were sitting right next to
- 18:00Speaker 3: each other. And the whole time I'm watching that, I'm
- 18:02Speaker 3: watching uh, DJ Cowed glued to his phone, and all
- 18:06Speaker 3: I could think was where's Eddie Falcon.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Edie Falco deserves that seat. She was there during the
- 18:10Speaker 2: Kevin Knox days. That's right, yep.
- 18:14Speaker 5: All I'm thinking about is imagine being the guy that
- 18:16Speaker 5: has to sit next to Fat Joe and DJ Cowed.
- 18:18Speaker 5: There's no room. There's no room there I'm sitting. You're
- 18:22Speaker 5: not getting an arm rest. You've got to You've got
- 18:25Speaker 5: to position your legs.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Funny.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Now, that's awful.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I was trying to make the joke rather than the
- 18:30Speaker 1: plus one another one. I had to google first to
- 18:36Speaker 1: make sure that was DJ Kalled's song.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Thank You. That's the worst way to deliver a great joke.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I know one. I'm sorry, it's the only way. It's
- 18:47Speaker 1: all I had, Mikey, I wasn't one hundred percent confident
- 18:51Speaker 1: that it was in DJ Kallen. When did Jimmy Johnson
- 18:55Speaker 1: become a Knicks fit anyone?
- 18:57Speaker 2: We were in Nick's Nicks merch too. That was a
- 18:59Speaker 2: weird Larry David was there, Yeah, that's right. Why are
- 19:03Speaker 2: the Miami guys there? Jimmy Johnson, n D J.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Kellett, Well, Jimmy Johnson would was Bob Craft's another one? Oh?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yes, I didn't even see Bob Craft. That's my mess.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I heard obviously you referenced it, which made me think
- 19:15Speaker 2: of it, But I didn't. I didn't see him there.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I noticed Larry David was there, right, some of the others.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But who would have been worse than Bob Kraft in
- 19:23Speaker 1: terms of New York enemies? Like Tom Brady's pretty bad, right,
- 19:26Speaker 1: Like if he were.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Sitting Brady or Tez David Ortiz a big poppy court size,
- 19:33Speaker 2: they would have been booed out of the building.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Those guys you think they were of those little white
- 19:36Speaker 5: wide receivers from the Patriots would have been just fine.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Pick one Edelman, Welker, Welker, whichever one you want.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Hogan, they're all the same guy. Well, Hogan wasn't as
- 19:47Speaker 1: good as the other two. Let's be honest.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I mean, don't care.
- 19:50Speaker 1: He was great at LAX, really he was great. Uh, Sally,
- 19:54Speaker 1: you nervous now because Nick fan So it's gonna be
- 19:57Speaker 1: a different feeling headed into uh, headed in to GA four,
- 20:00Speaker 1: it felt like a celebration headed into game three. I
- 20:04Speaker 1: understand why nick fans are starving for this. You're up
- 20:07Speaker 1: to Oh you beat the Spurs two games on the road.
- 20:09Speaker 1: No team has ever come back from this. But again,
- 20:12Speaker 1: no team has ever had a player like Victor Webbin Yama.
- 20:15Speaker 1: But you're gonna have a different feeling headed into game four.
- 20:18Speaker 1: You're gonna feel alive. For lack of better term, Nick
- 20:20Speaker 1: fans are going to be nervous headed into that game
- 20:23Speaker 1: because they can now see a path where they're not
- 20:26Speaker 1: holding up the Larry O'Brien trophy at the end of
- 20:28Speaker 1: the season.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yeah. I was nervous for that exact reason going into
- 20:33Speaker 2: Game three. And you know, sometimes like you're nervous, you're nervous,
- 20:36Speaker 2: and then there's something that breaks that nerve, like okay, well,
- 20:38Speaker 2: nervous about my first radio show or TV show, and
- 20:40Speaker 2: then you screw it up, and then it's like, okay, well,
- 20:42Speaker 2: what's there to be nervous about. I already screwed up,
- 20:45Speaker 2: So what's there to be nervous about? Now that they
- 20:48Speaker 2: already got hopefully the initial nerves out of the way
- 20:51Speaker 2: and the anticipation first Finals game in twenty seven years,
- 20:54Speaker 2: maybe that pressure bubble popped a little bit. Maybe, I
- 20:57Speaker 2: mean maybe not for them, I don't know. For me,
- 21:00Speaker 2: I'm more okay, they lost the game. Now let's see
- 21:03Speaker 2: how they respond, while also acknowledging that if they lose
- 21:07Speaker 2: this series, there is no recovering For me as a
- 21:10Speaker 2: sports fan, that's it, Like, I can't recover from this one.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So close you could taste it up to games to
- 21:15Speaker 2: none coming back home. This has got to be the
- 21:18Speaker 2: year they've dominated this postseason, the thirteen straight blowing teams out.
- 21:22Speaker 2: If the Knicks don't end up holding up that trophy,
- 21:24Speaker 2: and I still think they will, but if they don't,
- 21:27Speaker 2: I would be devastated. And obviously Game four is gonna
- 21:29Speaker 2: be huge in that you lose Game four, now you're
- 21:31Speaker 2: screwed best of three, with two of the games there
- 21:33Speaker 2: giving them real life, and now the pressure really is
- 21:36Speaker 2: back on the Knicks. I think this will be the
- 21:39Speaker 2: game that determines the series, and I expect the Knicks
- 21:41Speaker 2: to win Game four.
- 21:42Speaker 3: All right, Yeah, I think nerves are fair if you're
- 21:45Speaker 3: a true fan of this team, like sALS said, earlier.
- 21:48Speaker 3: You still have a ton of confidence in this team
- 21:51Speaker 3: because this team has fight. They've shown that they have
- 21:54Speaker 3: resolved this season. They show that they have heart this season.
- 21:57Speaker 3: If you parachute in and yesterday was your sixteenth game
- 22:00Speaker 3: you've watched the season, yeah, you're more likely to resort
- 22:03Speaker 3: back to the Knicks are gonna nick yesterday was the
- 22:06Speaker 3: beginning of the end. You're looking on FanDuel, the Knicks
- 22:08Speaker 3: are minus one eighty four to win the series, still
- 22:11Speaker 3: Spurs or plus one fifty four. For me, I'm nervous.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I'm confident the series could very much go either way,
- 22:19Speaker 3: and there is a ton of basketball left.
- 22:22Speaker 1: If it gets to too too how are you gonna feel?
- 22:24Speaker 1: I mean just you gonna feel.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Defeated.
- 22:28Speaker 1: You know, I don't know if you don't want to
- 22:30Speaker 1: think about it, I don't know. I know, I.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Don't know if I would jump ship fully, but I
- 22:33Speaker 2: think if it gets a two to two, I'm I
- 22:36Speaker 2: don't know how I can confidently say that the Knicks
- 22:39Speaker 2: are still gonna win.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I guess the only thing you could say is they
- 22:41Speaker 1: won games one end games two on the road. So
- 22:44Speaker 1: I mean, right, it's like the same thing that we're
- 22:46Speaker 1: saying about the Spurs and the series in general, on
- 22:50Speaker 1: how it twist and turned so many different ways over
- 22:52Speaker 1: the course of seven games. I mean, can I see
- 22:55Speaker 1: a scenario where the Knicks are, you know, tied to
- 22:58Speaker 1: two the series just keeps starting because all four games
- 23:02Speaker 1: were won by the road team, and then the Knicks
- 23:05Speaker 1: go to San Antonio and they started up again and
- 23:07Speaker 1: win game five. Yeah. I could see that because the
- 23:09Speaker 1: Knicks have shown me twice they could beat San Antonio
- 23:11Speaker 1: in their building.
- 23:12Speaker 3: So also, sal, you can't jump ship if you're on
- 23:16Speaker 3: a flight to San Antonio. I don't think that's even possible.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah, excellent point. Excellent point. We got to look into that.
- 23:21Speaker 2: The series doesn't end until a home team wins a game.
- 23:25Speaker 1: So are we saying, are we sent Yes, that's exactly right. Yes,
- 23:29Speaker 1: this could be the rare series where where a home
- 23:31Speaker 1: team never wins a game. Right, I guess.
- 23:36Speaker 2: That is true. It can end if it right?
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it just starts seven times over. Every night is
- 23:45Speaker 1: game one, So we're saying game four here is really
- 23:48Speaker 1: game seven. We all agree on this that if the
- 23:51Speaker 1: Knicks don't win Game four, they are not winning this series.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Mikey A do you agree, I don't real Okay, Wow,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I don't.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I like it. I like them winning on the road.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, they see more thirty two? Yes, Taylor, what
- 24:08Speaker 1: do you think I have to win Game four? I mean,
- 24:10Speaker 1: daylor this is a true test of your confidence as
- 24:12Speaker 1: a Nick fan, because you shouldn't waiver regardless of the outcome.
- 24:16Speaker 1: It's going to be two two or three one. I mean,
- 24:18Speaker 1: if I told you before the series started you'd be
- 24:20Speaker 1: two to two headed back to San Antonio, would you
- 24:22Speaker 1: have taken it?
- 24:26Speaker 2: Probably? Probably?
- 24:30Speaker 3: So I'm not wavering, and I'm not labeling it a
- 24:32Speaker 3: must win. It's as close to a must win as
- 24:36Speaker 3: you could get without getting the official label of a
- 24:38Speaker 3: must win.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Okay. Also, can I can I just add one thing
- 24:41Speaker 2: to your point before too? It's about how it happens, right,
- 24:44Speaker 2: So if you told me that it'd be two two
- 24:47Speaker 2: going back to San Antonio before the series, I'd be
- 24:50Speaker 2: okay with that. If you told me if the Knicks
- 24:53Speaker 2: had already won two games in San Antonio, and that
- 24:57Speaker 2: would mean that to go up three to two, you'd
- 24:59Speaker 2: have to beat them the third time in San Antonio, Yes,
- 25:03Speaker 2: that's where like I am a law of averages. Guy,
- 25:05Speaker 2: when push comes to shove, right, beating a team on
- 25:07Speaker 2: the road twice is hard enough three times in a row.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I'm not saying it can't be done right, And I
- 25:12Speaker 2: still believe the Knicks at worst of winning the series
- 25:15Speaker 2: in six, I'm gonna stick to Nickson five, but at
- 25:17Speaker 2: worse than six. But if they lose Game four, that
- 25:19Speaker 2: would mean you have to win three in a row there.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I don't know if I would like those odds.
- 25:23Speaker 1: What do you see differently, quickly before we get you
- 25:25Speaker 1: out of here, the Salakata Show, wherever you get your podcast,
- 25:28Speaker 1: What do you see differently about the Knicks from Games
- 25:31Speaker 1: one and two into Game three? For me, the obvious
- 25:34Speaker 1: difference was Mikal Bridges gave them nothing and Karl Anthony
- 25:37Speaker 1: Towns the offense stopped running through him, and it needs
- 25:40Speaker 1: to run through him because that's been it's been proven
- 25:42Speaker 1: success for the Knicks when they run the ball through him.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And it's not Jalen Brunson just dribbling the ball trying
- 25:47Speaker 1: to get through four people to get to the basket, you.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Know, yeah, lack of ball movement, and that's to your point,
- 25:53Speaker 2: you know, not maybe going through Towns enough so the
- 25:56Speaker 2: lack of ball movement. To me, the number one thing
- 25:58Speaker 2: that stood out was the sloppiness. They were sloppy right
- 26:01Speaker 2: from the get go, and maybe you thought, all right,
- 26:02Speaker 2: initial nerves here in game three returning home, they were
- 26:06Speaker 2: turning the ball over all game long. That can't happen.
- 26:09Speaker 2: They need to protect the ball and shoot the ball better.
- 26:12Speaker 2: It's pretty simple. And a way to shoot the ball
- 26:13Speaker 2: better would be to have better ball movement, which is
- 26:15Speaker 2: something that they kind of got away from in Game
- 26:17Speaker 2: three and the officials sucked.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, there it is the official suck. We happy
- 26:24Speaker 1: for zephyrn for winning his first major at the French Open.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not sure who that is.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm not certain how to pronounce his last name. Get
- 26:34Speaker 1: out of here, the Salacata Show, wherever you get your podcast.
- 26:38Speaker 1: The Knicks are winning this thing, so don't worry about it.
- 26:40Speaker 1: They're gonna win it. Have confidence, have faith. Are you
- 26:42Speaker 1: even a Knicks fan? Yes? Okay, good, of course.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I was just why do you guys get so mad
- 26:48Speaker 2: at me?
- 26:49Speaker 1: I mean, he's a Mets fan. You're not a Giants
- 26:52Speaker 1: a Jets fan, are you?
- 26:53Speaker 2: No?
- 26:54Speaker 1: See, That's why I asked I knew there was something there.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Who are you a fan of in football?
- 26:58Speaker 2: I don't even want to say the Atlanta Falcons, who
- 27:01Speaker 2: have the worst loss in the history of the Super
- 27:03Speaker 2: Bowl hung on them. If I lose this one with
- 27:05Speaker 2: the Knicks, I'm done. That's why I retire as a
- 27:07Speaker 2: sports fan.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I have the Falcons in my mind. That's why I listen.
- 27:10Speaker 1: As bad as it is, it's the Falcons.
- 27:11Speaker 2: At least it's not the Jets.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Okay,
