• 0:34
Speaker 2: begin on Let's Talk.
• 0:36
Speaker 3: Hello, ladies and gentlemen. This is Carl Lee with Let's Talk.
• 0:40
Speaker 3: And I have Hollis Lewis in the studio and uh
• 0:44
Speaker 3: Lisa ode by phone. How are you doing, miss Odi?
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: I'm good.
• 0:49
  Speaker 4: I'm a Safari. Don't tell anybody.
• 0:51
Speaker 3: Well, yeah, you left us in this with all this
• 0:53
Speaker 3: ice and snow. We're melting a little bit, but you're
• 0:55
Speaker 3: in the sunshine. Yeah, that's that's really unfair.
• 0:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, well it's kind of just see the sun is
• 1:01
Speaker 4: out down here, but it's not much warmer. But really
• 1:05
Speaker 4: so anyway, but hey, how are you guys doing this
• 1:08
Speaker 4: post Super Bowl Monday?
• 1:10
  Speaker 3: Well, I'll be I'll be honest, it's it's it's a
• 1:14
  Speaker 3: normal day for me. I didn't have I really didn't
• 1:17
Speaker 3: have any vested interest in whoever won or whoever lost.
• 1:21
Speaker 3: So I'm actually good Collins. I don't know if you
• 1:25
  Speaker 3: had a no, I thought it was a I mean,
• 1:27
Speaker 3: it was a decent game.
• 1:29
Speaker 5: It wasn't like that.
• 1:30
Speaker 3: It's definitely not the best super Bowl, but I think
• 1:32
Speaker 3: it was some good stories just like so, well, Lisa,
• 1:35
Speaker 3: what did you think about the game overall?
• 1:38
Speaker 4: I mean it was kind of like the storyline that
• 1:41
Speaker 4: we predicted on our last podcast. It was defensive battle. Yeah,
• 1:45
Speaker 4: and Seattle won it. I mean they just dominated the
• 1:48
Speaker 4: paths and you know, I know, for for people that
• 1:52
Speaker 4: really don't understand, you know, offense and defense in football,
• 1:56
Speaker 4: it was kind of boring. You know, there wasn't a
• 1:58
Speaker 4: whole lot of a lot of path and but that
• 2:01
Speaker 4: you know, the Seahawks, the way they man handled the Patriots.
• 2:04
Speaker 4: If you're if you're a defensive you know fan, you
• 2:07
  Speaker 4: enjoyed that.
• 2:07
Speaker 3: Game and to that point, you know, just for the
• 2:13
Speaker 3: amount and time and looking even going into looking at
• 2:17
Speaker 3: the stats, when you look at that like, I mean,
• 2:22
Speaker 3: that's a great play, that's a game that was played great.
• 2:25
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 2:25
  Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, you know, I know that
• 2:28
Speaker 3: everybody likes you know, quarterback though for five hundred yards,
• 2:32
Speaker 3: four touchdowns, all that kind of stuff. But man, you
• 2:35
Speaker 3: know when you start when you when you have a
• 2:37
Speaker 3: defense that is like literally shutting you down. I mean,
• 2:42
  Speaker 3: that's that's that's that's especially that's the old adage, right,
• 2:46
Speaker 3: defense wins championships. I mean the Seattle Seahawks had six sacks.
• 2:52
Speaker 3: I mean, when you like, that's crazy, and that's what
• 2:54
Speaker 3: I don't like about. You know, that's kind of the
• 2:57
Speaker 3: one of the things I don't like about. You know,
• 3:00
Speaker 3: when we talk about MVPs and stuff like that, generally
• 3:02
Speaker 3: it just goes to whoever had the best offensive performance.
• 3:05
Speaker 3: And Kennith Walker is a running back. I mean he
• 3:07
Speaker 3: had a great day. I mean, you rushed for one
• 3:08
Speaker 3: hundred and thirty five yards. He didn't score, he had
• 3:11
Speaker 3: a big long, a thirty yard run. But to me,
• 3:13
Speaker 3: definitely the MVP of the game was the Seattle se
• 3:17
Speaker 3: defensive line. I mean they had fumble recoveries. I think
• 3:19
Speaker 3: there was one fumble for the touchdown, and you had
• 3:22
Speaker 3: six sacks in addition to whatever tackles you may have had,
• 3:25
Speaker 3: So they really just were the standout of the game.
• 3:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm going to add to your sat with
• 3:30
Speaker 4: the six sacks tallis they forced three turnovers?
• 3:35
  Speaker 5: Wow?
• 3:36
Speaker 4: They also forty eight percent of the time the offensive
• 3:40
Speaker 4: front put pressure on May. So overall there are pressure
• 3:45
Speaker 4: rating will And it was the highest since twenty eighteen
• 3:49
Speaker 4: Super Bowl. And I don't recall the teams in that one,
• 3:51
Speaker 4: but fifty two point eight percent pressure rating. So I
• 3:55
Speaker 4: mean they just dominated. I mean it it was a
• 3:58
Speaker 4: thing of beauty if you know, you like defense well.
• 4:02
Speaker 3: And and I think for the people who had nothing,
• 4:04
Speaker 3: you know, no no vested interest in it, I think
• 4:07
Speaker 3: it's hard for them to necessarily pick that out and say, Okay,
• 4:14
Speaker 3: that's what's gonna make the game. And I think when
• 4:17
Speaker 3: we when you get too Super Bowls, you get to playoffs,
• 4:20
Speaker 3: I think the hardest thing for people to understand is
• 4:24
Speaker 3: the talent of that game, of those games, those types
• 4:28
Speaker 3: of games on both sides that you're just not gonna
• 4:32
  Speaker 3: you know, there's not gonna be I mean, it's it's
• 4:34
  Speaker 3: a it's a it's a stretch when you get a
• 4:37
Speaker 3: complete blowout, you know, because both of those teams have
• 4:44
Speaker 3: tons of talented players playing on both sides of the
• 4:47
Speaker 3: ball and special team and I think to your point
• 4:50
Speaker 3: when you talk about that concentration of talent. It's it's
• 4:54
Speaker 3: easy when it's the receivers, dbs and things of that nature.
• 4:57
Speaker 3: But when that concentrated talent is offensive and defensive line,
• 5:01
Speaker 3: particularly defensive line, and you can really show up in
• 5:05
Speaker 3: a way like that, that may be something that the
• 5:08
Speaker 3: average fan can't necessarily grasp and it but to your point,
• 5:11
Speaker 3: I mean, just the pure domination. And like we've said before,
• 5:15
Speaker 3: defense truly wins championships, and it was that way. I
• 5:18
Speaker 3: mean because even the Patriots, their defense was pretty solid.
• 5:21
Speaker 3: They didn't they didn't have a bad game per se, right,
• 5:25
Speaker 3: because you did have that one defensive touchdown from the
• 5:27
Speaker 3: from the Seahawks, so they they the Patriots had a
• 5:30
Speaker 3: pretty solid game. Is just offensively, they just couldn't move
• 5:33
Speaker 3: the ball. Yeah, and and and I'm glad that you
• 5:35
Speaker 3: said that, because both teams really did play well.
• 5:39
Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm saying you Yeah, yeah, and and.
• 5:43
Speaker 3: And you know, I've I've read some some folks have
• 5:46
Speaker 3: talked about, you know, whether or not it was boring.
• 5:49
Speaker 3: I think that was one of the questions that that
• 5:51
Speaker 3: that showed up on my on my feed, like did
• 5:54
Speaker 3: anybody think that the game.
• 5:55
Speaker 5: Was boring from what from from from from what.
• 5:59
Speaker 3: I got, and and even going in researching, looking at
• 6:04
Speaker 3: the stats and looking at this place that you know, I'm.
• 6:08
Speaker 5: Like, how do you how do you find that boring?
• 6:13
Speaker 3: That's two teams that are just good and and you're.
• 6:16
Speaker 5: Supposed to take the best two teams.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: You you're hoping the best two teams are in the
• 6:21
Speaker 3: Super Bowl playing, and I think we got that.
• 6:25
Speaker 4: I think what they found boring was those five field goals.
• 6:29
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know that.
• 6:32
Speaker 4: That's in thirded and it was like, I think they
• 6:35
Speaker 4: were up at one point, what twelve and nothing and
• 6:37
Speaker 4: it was all field all yeah. And so when you
• 6:41
Speaker 4: look at that SAT that isn't exactly setting the world
• 6:44
Speaker 4: on fire as far as offense goes. I mean, it
• 6:46
Speaker 4: kind of picked up in the second half with those teams,
• 6:49
Speaker 4: but but I was shocked, guys. And I mean I
• 6:53
Speaker 4: think that the running back, you know, Kenneth Walker, the
• 6:56
Speaker 4: third was well, he was deserving. But to me, Jason Myers, uh,
• 7:01
Speaker 4: you know, the kicker for the Seahawks.
• 7:04
Speaker 3: Okay, I'm with you, about to start some mess. I
• 7:08
Speaker 3: am with you, you about to start some mess.
• 7:13
Speaker 4: I know that I love it. I love it. Seriously,
• 7:16
Speaker 4: I'm too mad. Like I got up this morning and
• 7:18
Speaker 4: I think I posted something on social media about the
• 7:21
Speaker 4: guy set a record, So you thought.
• 7:24
Speaker 5: He should have got the NFL. I mean, give me
• 7:25
Speaker 5: the Super Bowl MVP.
• 7:27
Speaker 3: I did too, you didn't think so, I see defensive line,
• 7:32
Speaker 3: I would give it to that un and I'm okay,
• 7:35
Speaker 3: I'm actually okay, I could give that.
• 7:39
Speaker 5: But if you're going to look.
• 7:40
Speaker 3: At an individual player, individual player, he's the guy. There's
• 7:46
Speaker 3: I mean, there's like no way he does it. He's
• 7:49
Speaker 3: not on somebody's mind. And I don't think anybody thought
• 7:52
Speaker 3: of him at any given time because he's a kicker.
• 7:57
Speaker 3: So what did you say, Lisa?
• 7:58
  Speaker 4: Well, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I'm just
• 8:01
Speaker 4: so passionate about this. I really felt like he was
• 8:04
Speaker 4: a lock in because you know, watching the game and
• 8:07
Speaker 4: there up twelve to nothing and he scored all the points.
• 8:10
Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, all right, let me look this up
• 8:12
Speaker 4: because I wondered if there's been another kicker in past
• 8:16
Speaker 4: Super Bowls that has been named MVP, and it's never happened.
• 8:21
Speaker 4: He kicker that's ever won a prestigious award, And I
• 8:25
Speaker 4: had to go back to I think it was like
• 8:27
Speaker 4: eighty two and it was a former Washington kicker, Mark Moseley.
• 8:32
Speaker 5: Hm, I remember that that person.
• 8:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he won the NFL MVP. But that was
• 8:38
Speaker 4: a striking reason. There was only like games, but he
• 8:42
Speaker 4: made twenty twenty one field goals in those nine games,
• 8:45
Speaker 4: and so for some reason, you know, they awarded him that.
• 8:48
Speaker 4: But I was in a classmized. I was like, Okay,
• 8:49
Speaker 4: this is going to be this is going to be
• 8:51
Speaker 4: the super Bowl that they finally named a special teams
• 8:55
Speaker 4: a kicker to MVP, because I really felt like if
• 8:58
Speaker 4: he hadn't kicked, I know that. The argument that I've
• 9:02
Speaker 4: read also is none of the field goals were lost.
• 9:04
Speaker 4: I mean, they weren't in a spectacular at fifty plus
• 9:08
Speaker 4: yard field goals, and I think the longest one he
• 9:11
Speaker 4: made last night was like forty one.
• 9:13
Speaker 5: So let me ask you this.
• 9:14
Speaker 3: Let's say he like he makes three field goals within
• 9:17
Speaker 3: the range that he did, and let's say he has
• 9:20
Speaker 3: a fifty yarder and let's just say he had like
• 9:22
Speaker 3: a sixty yardist. So let's say you can take whatever
• 9:25
Speaker 3: three you want from what he actually made. Let's say
• 9:27
Speaker 3: he had a fifty yard and let's say he had
• 9:29
Speaker 3: like a sixty yarderst do you think he gets the
• 9:32
Speaker 3: MVP in that situation if the kid but he had
• 9:35
Speaker 3: like two kicks that were just long.
• 9:37
  Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
• 9:39
  Speaker 3: And it's a shame that we don't know. And I'm
• 9:40
Speaker 3: going to say no, you're gonna say no. I'm going
• 9:42
Speaker 3: to say no. I don't think even at that I
• 9:45
Speaker 3: don't think that would have been Yes, yes, that's the word.
• 9:50
Speaker 3: But it kind of leads to it. Maybe we will
• 9:53
Speaker 3: go here in a second, but it leads to like
• 9:55
Speaker 3: even the Hall of Fame voting and how like our
• 9:59
Speaker 3: perception of things just maybe off because to your point least,
• 10:02
Speaker 3: I mean, when you scored the first points of the game,
• 10:06
Speaker 3: that actually set Seattle Seahawks up and it gave them
• 10:10
Speaker 3: the space that they needed to they offense got rolling. Yes,
• 10:14
Speaker 3: So I mean, and he set a record. So whether
• 10:17
Speaker 3: you like it or not, it don't matter if they
• 10:18
Speaker 3: was chip shots. He set a record, and he set
• 10:21
Speaker 3: the team up a success, and he heard his job perfectly.
• 10:23
Speaker 3: And you're talking what sixty super bowls, the first time
• 10:28
Speaker 3: in sixty major super Bowl games, this is the only
• 10:34
Speaker 3: person who did that who did that. Yeah, I mean, Lisa,
• 10:37
Speaker 3: you got a point. You got to play.
• 10:41
Speaker 4: I get it. I mean, you know, like I said,
• 10:43
Speaker 4: the running back is the more respective position. And the defense,
• 10:48
Speaker 4: of course, you know, the defense was spectacular. They could
• 10:51
Speaker 4: have named Amos Senni player off the defensive line and
• 10:53
Speaker 4: I've been good with it. But to set that record
• 10:56
Speaker 4: in Super Bowl sixty and not get the recognition that
• 10:59
Speaker 4: you really deserve because if he misses those kicks, I mean,
• 11:03
Speaker 4: you know, the game could have been totally different.
• 11:05
  Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a different game.
• 11:07
Speaker 3: Well, like again, so I just want to pat myself
• 11:12
Speaker 3: on the back. I want to give myself acknowledgment and
• 11:16
Speaker 3: encouragement because I think I said last year, you don't
• 11:20
Speaker 3: trade a quarterback who was fourteen and three and took
• 11:23
Speaker 3: it to the playoffs. And what I want to say
• 11:27
Speaker 3: is that looking back at Minnesota this year, they have
• 11:31
Speaker 3: a similar setup to Seattle as far as just you
• 11:34
Speaker 3: don't have a big superstars everywhere, but you got it.
• 11:38
Speaker 3: You had a solid unit. You were missing some pieces,
• 11:41
Speaker 3: but you had a solid unit. And I think the
• 11:44
Speaker 3: point I really want to make is that I think
• 11:46
Speaker 3: we're seeing now because none of it and like I said,
• 11:49
Speaker 3: these quarterbacks, they weren't great, right, These aren't great quarterbacks.
• 11:54
Speaker 3: I think we've been spoiled with the with the Brady
• 11:56
Speaker 3: and Mahomes. You gotta have that great quarterback. Well, I
• 11:59
Speaker 3: think what teams are going to learn fast is that
• 12:02
Speaker 3: if you build a team with solid defense, with solid
• 12:07
Speaker 3: offensive players, particularly offensive players who who can work together,
• 12:12
Speaker 3: you don't have the egos offensively who could just who's
• 12:15
Speaker 3: just gonna do those those hardworking blue collar guys who
• 12:18
Speaker 3: are gonna do their job to the maximum, And you
• 12:21
Speaker 3: could place a quarterback who just doesn't make the big
• 12:24
Speaker 3: mistake and and and makes the play when he needs
• 12:27
Speaker 3: to make it. Because I think that's all it was.
• 12:29
Speaker 3: He didn't make he didn't he had he had no
• 12:31
Speaker 3: interceptions this game, and he threw the touchdown when he
• 12:33
Speaker 3: needed to throw it. He just I mean, if you
• 12:36
Speaker 3: look at the game, I mean, and again not to
• 12:37
Speaker 3: lessen and he makes some good plays all over, but
• 12:40
Speaker 3: he did those two things. He made the play when
• 12:43
Speaker 3: he needed to make the play, and he didn't make
• 12:45
  Speaker 3: the mistake.
• 12:45
Speaker 5: And that was it.
• 12:46
Speaker 3: And what you're saying is he he he's not the
• 12:49
Speaker 3: expectation that the newscasters and people had for him wasn't
• 12:54
Speaker 3: what you would think Tom Brady might have. Yeah, but
• 12:58
Speaker 3: I'm saying, like I think the quarterback position sometimes it's
• 13:01
Speaker 3: just the point guard. It's the point guard that's gonna
• 13:04
Speaker 3: get you ten assists, gonna get you a couple steals,
• 13:07
Speaker 3: and gonna get you maybe eight to ten points. But
• 13:10
Speaker 3: he's gonna run the team to the max. He's gonna
• 13:13
Speaker 3: make sure everybody's in position. And I think we have
• 13:16
Speaker 3: to start looking at the quarterback position like that, like
• 13:18
Speaker 3: you don't always got to be the superstar.
• 13:20
  Speaker 5: And I think that's that's a valid point to Hollis.
• 13:24
Speaker 3: And if you can find that quarterback, and I'm gonna
• 13:29
Speaker 3: I'm gonna put a title on him.
• 13:31
  Speaker 5: Just as a leader. I like that. I like he's
• 13:34
  Speaker 5: just a lighter.
• 13:35
Speaker 3: He's not trying to be Tom Brady. He doesn't need
• 13:39
Speaker 3: to be Tom Brady. He just wants to be the leader.
• 13:43
Speaker 3: And he's gonna lead the team by example. He's gonna
• 13:47
Speaker 3: work hard in practice, he's gonna show up at the games.
• 13:50
Speaker 3: He's gonna when he has something bad, he's gonna turn
• 13:52
Speaker 3: around and try to make up for it. I think
• 13:55
Speaker 3: when you have that guy, I don't care what really
• 13:59
  Speaker 3: what position.
• 14:00
Speaker 5: But I think what we're talking about is different. Quarterback
• 14:03
  Speaker 5: is different.
• 14:04
Speaker 3: You typically want to have that superstar I think everybody
• 14:07
Speaker 3: wants to superstar quarterback. But I think when you when
• 14:10
Speaker 3: you started looking at a guy who's just in it
• 14:13
Speaker 3: to win it, to be part of a team, I
• 14:16
Speaker 3: think that guy can take You can just about take
• 14:20
Speaker 3: almost any team that has some talent around it, some
• 14:25
Speaker 3: pieces to it, to an opportunity to get to it
• 14:28
Speaker 3: and I or at least play off. And I like
• 14:30
Speaker 3: how you said that because I like you, because I
• 14:33
Speaker 3: thought you were going to say game manager.
• 14:35
Speaker 5: But I like that. Just the leader, just the leader,
• 14:38
Speaker 5: just a leader out there, bro, You just a leader
• 14:40
  Speaker 5: doing your job.
• 14:42
Speaker 4: And to be honest, I think Drake May was a
• 14:44
Speaker 4: little star struck. He's young.
• 14:45
Speaker 5: I can see, yes, twenty three left.
• 14:47
Speaker 4: It between the two quarterbacks was completely obvious. I think
• 14:53
Speaker 4: that when you look at both plays, they're both above
• 14:56
Speaker 4: average quarterbacks. I agree with you, both they're not star
• 15:01
Speaker 4: you know. Of course I was arguing with some people, well,
• 15:03
Speaker 4: actually Jerry about Drake May. So oh he'll be back
• 15:06
Speaker 4: in the super Bowl. I don't know. I think both
• 15:08
Speaker 4: of these two quarterbacks got where they are not because
• 15:11
Speaker 4: of their play necessarily, but the play of the whole
• 15:14
Speaker 4: team in general senses that they have. I think that
• 15:18
Speaker 4: these two teams, they could interchange another quarterback with the
• 15:22
Speaker 4: same talent level and they're still going to get where
• 15:24
Speaker 4: they're going just because they have all the pieces in
• 15:26
Speaker 4: place besides quarterbacks. Does that make sense?
• 15:29
Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see where you're going with that.
• 15:31
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 15:32
Speaker 3: And I'll add to that, Lisa, because I think, if
• 15:36
Speaker 3: I'm hearing you correct, you're saying that that the quarterbacks
• 15:42
Speaker 3: on both of those teams are good, good quarterbacks, they're
• 15:46
  Speaker 3: not great.
• 15:47
Speaker 5: And if you added if.
• 15:49
Speaker 3: They were to leave, and you could bring in another
• 15:52
Speaker 3: quarterback no matter who and where necessarily he you know,
• 15:57
  Speaker 3: he's a former player, he's active in on a team
• 16:00
Speaker 3: somewhere and you bring him in and he's played before
• 16:04
Speaker 3: you put him in there, and he has that leadership ability.
• 16:08
Speaker 3: You think the teams could go back.
• 16:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, you can go back to the super Bowl with
• 16:12
Speaker 4: a different quarterback with about the same talent level. They don't.
• 16:16
Speaker 5: They've proved they don't need Tom Brady.
• 16:18
Speaker 4: They don't need a Tom Brady, they don't need you know,
• 16:21
Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes. They just need like you said, a solid
• 16:25
Speaker 4: leader because all the other pieces that they have in
• 16:27
Speaker 4: place got them there, the team there.
• 16:31
Speaker 3: Here's why I would slightly disagree with that, because I
• 16:34
Speaker 3: think the thing that Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes do
• 16:38
Speaker 3: for you, they are gonna they they have because their
• 16:42
Speaker 3: talent level is so high and great. I think they
• 16:44
Speaker 3: have the ability to do it over over, over and
• 16:48
Speaker 3: over and over again, season after season. I think the
• 16:51
Speaker 3: issue with like Drake may or maybe even a Sam
• 16:55
Speaker 3: donelld is that not to say it's a one shot deal,
• 16:58
Speaker 3: but it could be sort of like the Hurts, where
• 17:00
Speaker 3: you're gonna be up and down. You can be good
• 17:02
Speaker 3: one year, kind of mediocre the next year, where a
• 17:05
Speaker 3: guy like Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes is going to
• 17:08
Speaker 3: keep the level so high that you're consistently gonna be
• 17:12
Speaker 3: at least a conference championship or better or you know
• 17:15
  Speaker 3: what I mean. So I think that's that's slightly where
• 17:18
Speaker 3: I would disagree at because I think it is important
• 17:20
  Speaker 3: because there's gonna be I think next year they'll they'll
• 17:23
Speaker 3: start to figure some things out about both of these quarterbacks,
• 17:26
Speaker 3: and you know it's gonna be We're gonna see, are
• 17:29
Speaker 3: they gonna raise their level again, gonna see them, They're
• 17:34
Speaker 3: gonna watch them and tigre some stuff out. We can
• 17:38
Speaker 3: put pressure on him and we hit him a few times,
• 17:40
Speaker 3: he gets a little on Or it could be a
• 17:42
Speaker 3: situation in which, because you have such a particular like
• 17:45
Speaker 3: the Seahawks, you have such a dynamic unit that if
• 17:48
Speaker 3: one of the one or two of those guys want
• 17:50
Speaker 3: to go and get paid and then they're on the ox.
• 17:52
Speaker 3: Now I shouldn't say it like that, but they're on
• 17:54
Speaker 3: the trading block, then that could sort of mess up
• 17:57
Speaker 3: the continuity team. So may it may not even be quarterback. Yeah,
• 18:01
Speaker 3: it may not even be a quarterback issue, because I
• 18:03
Speaker 3: think that's where the Patriots that and I'm talking about
• 18:06
Speaker 3: the Tom Brady Bill Belichick pictures. That's where they were
• 18:09
Speaker 3: so brilliant, brilliant because they could plug and play guys
• 18:12
Speaker 3: so that that guy could go, that the essential piece
• 18:15
Speaker 3: could go get a contract, get paid, and they can
• 18:18
Speaker 3: bring somebody else in and they would maintain the same level.
• 18:21
Speaker 5: Unlike the Vikings when we sent.
• 18:25
Speaker 3: Away and bring one in and think that one's gonna supplement.
• 18:31
Speaker 3: But and think about this with I'll let you go.
• 18:33
Speaker 3: I'm sorry, listen, but it's my last point. But think
• 18:36
Speaker 3: about Sam donald bro he played for the Jets, he
• 18:42
Speaker 3: played for the Panthers, like he played for the bottom
• 18:47
Speaker 3: of the bottom teams in the NFL. Everything that he
• 18:51
Speaker 3: went through, all the strife, all the adversity. Man, I'm
• 18:54
Speaker 3: telling you that says more about him as forget a
• 18:58
Speaker 3: football player, a man to go through all that to
• 19:01
Speaker 3: go sit on the bench for the forty nine ers.
• 19:03
Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
• 19:04
Speaker 3: Just go to those terrible franchises and then you go
• 19:07
Speaker 3: to Minnesota. You're fourteen to three, you're in the playoffs,
• 19:10
Speaker 3: you feel like you made it. You get bounced in
• 19:12
Speaker 3: the first round. Then the next thing you know, you
• 19:14
Speaker 3: don't even have a chance to build. Then you're out
• 19:17
Speaker 3: of there, and then you got to go to your
• 19:18
Speaker 3: like this journeyman quarterback. Then you're going to see Seattle.
• 19:21
Speaker 3: You're going to replace Geno Smith, who has Geno Smith
• 19:24
  Speaker 3: has some great.
• 19:25
  Speaker 5: Years in Seattle.
• 19:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, statistically he has some great years. And now you
• 19:29
Speaker 3: win a Super Bowl. Man that dude's mind frame. Man,
• 19:33
Speaker 3: I got a lot of respect for him. Well to
• 19:35
Speaker 3: me what that is And I tell people this a ton.
• 19:40
Speaker 3: The one thing about playing in the NFL. If you're
• 19:45
Speaker 3: questioning yourself, I don't care if you get cut your
• 19:49
Speaker 3: back up, whatever the case is.
• 19:50
Speaker 5: If you're questioning yourself and doubting that.
• 19:53
  Speaker 3: I can't beat you out or I can't beat somebody
• 19:55
Speaker 3: out to get in the lineup.
• 19:57
Speaker 5: You don't belong that. Wow, that's good.
• 20:00
Speaker 3: You You just you're you don't belong there because there's nobody.
• 20:04
Speaker 3: Everybody sitting on that bench is thinking that there's somebody
• 20:08
Speaker 3: in the starting lineup at the position that I'm playing.
• 20:12
  Speaker 3: So for me, I'm thinking, I'm I'm thinking, let's say
• 20:16
  Speaker 3: I was on that team. I'm I'm I'm on the
• 20:18
Speaker 3: team we win the Super Bowl. I'm not a starter.
• 20:22
Speaker 3: I'm looking at that corner and thinking, Okay, I got
• 20:25
Speaker 3: to get him next.
• 20:26
Speaker 5: Next, next, next, next season.
• 20:28
Speaker 3: I gotta go get him, because you can't say I'm
• 20:33
Speaker 3: okay sitting behind him, you know, and if he if
• 20:37
Speaker 3: there's one side that's really, really good, I'm moving to
• 20:40
Speaker 3: the other side and then trying to get over there.
• 20:42
Speaker 5: I gotta go get somebody. I don't want him.
• 20:45
Speaker 3: I don't want to celebrate the Super Bowl on the
• 20:47
Speaker 3: sideline like yeah, So Lisa, let me let me ask
• 20:51
Speaker 3: you this, So we talked about the Patriots and and
• 20:54
Speaker 3: probably the biggest football story outside of the Super Bowl
• 20:57
Speaker 3: and outside of you know, the halftime show was the
• 21:00
Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. Now, now you had guys like Randy Moss,
• 21:05
Speaker 3: Tarrell Owens, Deon Sanders. Basically they all alluded to the
• 21:10
Speaker 3: same thing. They're they're there. Their opinion is that writers
• 21:17
Speaker 3: ought to be taken off the voters to be Hall
• 21:19
Speaker 3: of Fame Hall of famers should be voted on by
• 21:22
Speaker 3: other Hall of famers, or at least guys who played
• 21:26
Speaker 3: the game. So, Lisa, what are your thoughts on that
• 21:29
Speaker 3: and this? And this has to do with Robert Craft
• 21:31
Speaker 3: and Bill Belichick not getting.
• 21:33
Speaker 5: In the Hall of Fame.
• 21:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, And you know I'm kind of leaning that way.
• 21:39
Speaker 5: You're kind of leaning well, I mean.
• 21:42
Speaker 4: Let me finish my finish first of all, learning things
• 21:48
Speaker 4: about this whole whole Hall of Fame. You know, how
• 21:50
Speaker 4: how people get inducted. It's a fifty member committee, which
• 21:54
Speaker 4: I didn't realize it was that many of them, And
• 21:56
Speaker 4: like you said, writers and you know that they're involved.
• 22:00
Speaker 4: So I do like the idea of just having peers
• 22:03
Speaker 4: that have already been inducted into being a part of that,
• 22:08
Speaker 4: but they're also going to remedy some things. I don't
• 22:10
Speaker 4: know if you guys you may have seen this educate
• 22:13
Speaker 4: us in yeah, yeah, yeah. So first of all, I
• 22:17
Speaker 4: didn't realize this when they've been doing their meetings, when
• 22:20
Speaker 4: when they're deciding their Hall of Fame, you know, people
• 22:24
Speaker 4: to go in their inductees. They have they've been doing
• 22:27
Speaker 4: these meetings virtually since twenty twenty. So they decided that
• 22:31
Speaker 4: they're going to abandon that model and they're going to
• 22:34
Speaker 4: go back to face to face to improve accountability. I
• 22:38
Speaker 4: think it's easier to you know, talk to somebody. It's
• 22:42
Speaker 4: just like the internets. You got you know, keyboard ninjas.
• 22:44
Speaker 4: If you're in a room with somebody, you're going to
• 22:46
Speaker 4: be more honest and a little more I don't know,
• 22:50
Speaker 4: less defensive when you're face to face. So they're going
• 22:54
Speaker 4: to do that. They're also going to move the vote
• 22:57
Speaker 4: closer to the NFL Honors ceremony because they want to
• 23:00
Speaker 4: prevent leaks this you know, all this all this coming
• 23:03
Speaker 4: out about Bill, Bill Belichick and Craft not getting in there.
• 23:06
Speaker 4: They don't they don't want that controversy. They want to
• 23:09
Speaker 4: move it closer. And then you know, do the ceremony
• 23:11
Speaker 4: and move on. And they're also this, you'll like this, Hollis,
• 23:15
Speaker 4: You'll like this a lot because you were on the
• 23:17
Speaker 4: sandwagon last week. Uh. They're considering releasing individual ballots, those totals,
• 23:24
Speaker 4: and they want to promotecy. So those are some things
• 23:27
Speaker 4: that they want to do to improve the process and
• 23:29
Speaker 4: make sure the right people are getting on.
• 23:31
Speaker 5: The bout Let me. Let me ask you this, Lisa.
• 23:34
Speaker 3: Now, one of the things that Tarrell Owen said, Now,
• 23:38
Speaker 3: this is the point that this I'm this isn't Hollis
• 23:40
Speaker 3: Lewis saying this. This is terrorll Owen's saying this, and
• 23:43
Speaker 3: I'm giving I'm quoting. He said, if Robert Kraft isn't
• 23:48
Speaker 3: first ballot or in by now, because I think he's
• 23:51
Speaker 3: been on the ballot for a while, But if Robert
• 23:53
Speaker 3: Kraft isn't in by now, and he said, if Bill
• 23:56
Speaker 3: Belichick isn't a first ballot Hall of Famer, he said
• 24:00
Speaker 3: Tom Brady shouldn't be either.
• 24:02
Speaker 5: What are your thoughts.
• 24:05
  Speaker 4: I don't know about that, because he's.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: Saying, like, if you're going to keep Bill Belichick off
• 24:10
Speaker 3: because of because of the Flakegate, tom Brady ought to
• 24:13
Speaker 3: be done too well.
• 24:15
Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, that's probably true to a degree. Tom
• 24:19
Speaker 4: Brady's out on the field doing the work. That's, you know,
• 24:24
Speaker 4: making the plays, completing the passes. They're on the sideline
• 24:28
Speaker 4: guiding him. I think that's you can't compare apples and oranges.
• 24:31
Speaker 3: Well, well, let me ask you who's fooling with the ball.
• 24:38
Speaker 5: My question. You're going to go that way. I'm gonna
• 24:41
Speaker 5: come back and say, Okay, Brady.
• 24:45
Speaker 3: Brady is taking the ball and giving it to somebody
• 24:48
Speaker 3: to say, Hey, he ain't giving it to Belichick.
• 24:50
Speaker 5: He giving it to what you're saying. Brady's was hands
• 24:53
Speaker 5: on in the Brady.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: If he if he if he done if allegend, if
• 25:00
Speaker 3: he was going to do it the way he would
• 25:02
Speaker 3: do it, he ain't got to go through Belichick.
• 25:05
Speaker 5: He's going to somebody. He got a dude who's over there,
• 25:07
  Speaker 5: who's who's.
• 25:08
Speaker 3: Got a women manager, somebody that he's working with to
• 25:13
Speaker 3: make that ball as comfortable for him as he needs
• 25:16
  Speaker 3: it today.
• 25:17
Speaker 4: Determined those who was actually behind.
• 25:19
Speaker 3: It, but Brady Brady. I think I think they all
• 25:22
Speaker 3: end up getting in some sort of trouble. I think
• 25:24
Speaker 3: Brady had got suspended and a Bill but they all
• 25:28
Speaker 3: faced some sort of sanction of punishment from the league.
• 25:30
Speaker 3: But it's not stopping Brady from being on ESPN. Oh boy,
• 25:35
Speaker 3: But but here, Okay, so here's my thing. Hold on,
• 25:40
Speaker 3: I think I think Terrell Owens has a legitimate point.
• 25:43
  Speaker 5: I don't.
• 25:44
Speaker 3: I think people would be dismissive of it just because
• 25:46
Speaker 3: who's saying it and his reputation. But I think it's
• 25:50
Speaker 3: a legitimate fair point. Now do I agree, Absolutely not,
• 25:54
Speaker 3: because I think the thing that we can say with
• 25:56
Speaker 3: Brady is that he won a bunch of Super Bowls
• 25:59
  Speaker 3: with the Patriots.
• 26:00
Speaker 5: But see, but he also.
• 26:01
Speaker 3: Won that Super Bowl with the with the Bucks, so
• 26:04
Speaker 3: he so he had his time there, and then he
• 26:07
Speaker 3: had his time outside of that system. So he proved
• 26:11
Speaker 3: that I'm legitimate outside of them. Okay, but they you
• 26:15
Speaker 3: know what I mean? Okay, I do yes, and and
• 26:17
Speaker 3: and and let me just say this as a former player,
• 26:23
Speaker 3: and when things that you do wrong, there are major consequences.
• 26:29
Speaker 3: There are guys who are not in the Hall of
• 26:31
Speaker 3: Fame because the things that they've done. I could think
• 26:34
Speaker 3: of one right now. Okay, see, and so my question
• 26:40
Speaker 3: then I'm not I'm not a Brady hater.
• 26:43
Speaker 5: I actually love him as a quarterback.
• 26:45
Speaker 3: You know, if you done something, if you done something
• 26:49
  Speaker 3: that was.
• 26:52
Speaker 5: Was illegal for the game.
• 26:57
Speaker 3: And was a benefit to you and you who got caught,
• 27:02
Speaker 3: and you can be a first ballot haf I don't
• 27:06
Speaker 3: understand how we separating the things that are happening. So
• 27:11
Speaker 3: how you are you saying, like you're not saying you
• 27:13
Speaker 3: shouldn't separate Belichick, craft and break. They should all have
• 27:17
Speaker 3: to saw the same consequence. It's got to be the same.
• 27:20
Speaker 3: So so so are you on the record saying that
• 27:23
Speaker 3: Brady should not be a first ballot Hall of Fame?
• 27:25
Speaker 5: No, I think he absolutely should be.
• 27:28
Speaker 3: I'm saying based off of the scandal and everything, and
• 27:30
Speaker 3: based off what they did to Bill Belichick. No, I'm
• 27:33
Speaker 3: gonna say he to me, I'm thinking he's still a
• 27:36
Speaker 3: first ballot. Okay, but I'm gonna make the case. Okay,
• 27:39
  Speaker 3: I got you, he's a.
• 27:40
Speaker 5: First ballot well before them. I can't agree with that.
• 27:45
Speaker 4: If he's a first ballot, so should Bill Belichick.
• 27:48
Speaker 3: I'm okay, Look, if we're gonna if we're not going to,
• 27:52
Speaker 3: if we're not gonna hold anything against you, we're not
• 27:54
Speaker 3: gonna You're guilty. You are guilty of something, and if
• 27:58
Speaker 3: we're not gonna hold that against you in your Hall
• 28:00
Speaker 3: of Fame induction, that's fine. Then everybody gets to go.
• 28:05
Speaker 3: If you're a legitimate for uh first year die, so
• 28:10
Speaker 3: be it. But it seems like we are we are,
• 28:14
Speaker 3: we're we're punishing some people from getting in and then
• 28:21
Speaker 3: other folks we're gonna let them in regardless of what
• 28:23
Speaker 3: they do. I mean, you got a pull in, that's
• 28:27
  Speaker 3: a problem.
• 28:28
Speaker 4: You go ahead, loci, Okay, So do you really think
• 28:31
Speaker 4: so that that's the reason because in the initial in
• 28:34
Speaker 4: the initial you know, when all this went down, excuse me,
• 28:39
Speaker 4: I looked at it and I was like, okay, maybe
• 28:41
Speaker 4: the reason why they didn't putting it put him in
• 28:44
Speaker 4: first ballot was because of deflate game. Right. That was
• 28:47
Speaker 4: initial thoughts. But then also one of the changes that
• 28:51
Speaker 4: I didn't talk about a minute ago, I'm going to now,
• 28:54
Speaker 4: uh there there were viewing a rule that groups coaches
• 28:58
Speaker 4: and contributors with older players who have been on the
• 29:02
Speaker 4: ballot for multiple years, that they need to look at
• 29:05
Speaker 4: that because one of the players that they're inducting is
• 29:08
  Speaker 4: Roger Craig.
• 29:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, phenomenal running back.
• 29:11
Speaker 4: Well, this was his now or never, because because you know,
• 29:16
Speaker 4: he's been on the ballot so many times, I don't
• 29:18
Speaker 4: know what the what the regulations are that this was
• 29:21
Speaker 4: his now or never. He's either going to get in
• 29:23
Speaker 4: this time or he's off.
• 29:24
Speaker 3: To Okay, to me, that's just to me, that's crap.
• 29:27
  Speaker 3: Thank I can't buy that. I have been and I'm
• 29:30
Speaker 3: not saying to him. I'm not saying Lisa's crab. I'm
• 29:32
Speaker 3: just talking about that. But they're the fact that we
• 29:35
Speaker 3: that you you have to do something to help Roger
• 29:38
Speaker 3: Craig get into the Hall of Fame. It makes no
• 29:42
Speaker 3: sense because here is the dude who was probably one
• 29:46
Speaker 3: of the best running backs.
• 29:47
Speaker 5: Of the eighties of the eighties, and he can't get in.
• 29:52
Speaker 5: He's not a first ballot. How is he not a
• 29:54
  Speaker 5: first I wouldn't say.
• 29:55
Speaker 3: First about Oh my god, he's not a first ballot
• 29:58
Speaker 3: because you can't say he's the best of his era.
• 30:00
Speaker 3: You can't say he's not better than Eric Dickerson. He
• 30:02
Speaker 3: wasn't better than Walter Payton. He's not the best of
• 30:05
Speaker 3: So he may not be a first ballot, but he's
• 30:06
Speaker 3: a Hall of Famer. But he's right there. Well, let's
• 30:13
Speaker 3: not go off on that end. But what I'm saying, Lisa,
• 30:16
Speaker 3: I do see your point. But at the same time.
• 30:21
Speaker 4: Instead of Bill Belichick, he'll get in eventually. We know
• 30:25
Speaker 4: that he's going to get in, but he's not going
• 30:27
Speaker 4: to be a first ballot.
• 30:28
Speaker 3: But the thing is is that for Bill Belichick, that
• 30:31
Speaker 3: is the honor is the honor. The honor is being
• 30:34
Speaker 3: a first ballot Hall of Famer, not just getting in.
• 30:37
  Speaker 3: Because here's what I'm saying. I understand what they're saying,
• 30:40
Speaker 3: and that sounds good, but that just sounds like an
• 30:42
Speaker 3: excuse because Bill Belichick, if you got the most super
• 30:46
Speaker 3: Bowl wins as a head coach, and like I said,
• 30:49
Speaker 3: but last week, Bill Belichick coached the two greatest offensive
• 30:54
Speaker 3: and defensive football players of all time. If we're saying
• 30:57
Speaker 3: you you coach the best quarterback in history, and you
• 31:01
Speaker 3: coach the best defensive player in history, how.
• 31:03
Speaker 5: Are you not in?
• 31:04
Speaker 3: And again not just as they head coach with super bowls,
• 31:07
Speaker 3: but you also got two Super Bowls as a defensive
• 31:10
Speaker 3: coordinator and you coach the best guy of all time.
• 31:13
Speaker 3: So you can't give me that, Oh well, we just
• 31:15
Speaker 3: got If that's what you're gonna do, then have one
• 31:18
Speaker 3: for coaches, one for old players or older players, and
• 31:21
Speaker 3: have one for modern players.
• 31:23
Speaker 5: I think, but there's no way you can do that.
• 31:25
Speaker 3: I think there is a group that after you get
• 31:29
Speaker 3: past a certain time, then you become you know.
• 31:32
  Speaker 5: That's what she said said, But I don't think. I
• 31:39
Speaker 5: don't think you know.
• 31:40
Speaker 3: I mean, some of these some of these names that
• 31:42
Speaker 3: we're throwing around are to me, some of the best
• 31:46
Speaker 3: players in the league, some of the best coaches ever
• 31:50
Speaker 3: and have coached some of the best teams ever. Now, accidentally,
• 31:56
Speaker 3: you couldn't repeat it four times or whatever.
• 32:00
Speaker 5: You did what you needed to do.
• 32:01
  Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think, like I said, I'm I'm happy
• 32:04
Speaker 3: that they're changing the process.
• 32:06
Speaker 5: I want more accountability. I agree with you, coach.
• 32:09
  Speaker 3: I don't care if you're voting on a middle school
• 32:11
Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. I want to see your vote. Yeah,
• 32:14
Speaker 3: I want to know. I want to want to know
• 32:16
Speaker 3: what you voted for, and I want to know who
• 32:18
Speaker 3: voted for it. And I and I also think because
• 32:22
Speaker 3: I think Lisa, you said there's fifty total votes, correct, right.
• 32:26
Speaker 4: Fifty fifties member committee, and I.
• 32:28
Speaker 3: Think that fifty member committee should be rotated. I don't
• 32:31
Speaker 3: think you should just be perpetually there. I think you there,
• 32:34
Speaker 3: you like you serve on the board. You serve on
• 32:36
Speaker 3: the board for maybe two to three years, and then
• 32:38
Speaker 3: you bring and then and then you then that cycles out.
• 32:41
Speaker 3: You get five more and five or even five more
• 32:43
Speaker 3: until you eventually can get a new board over a
• 32:45
Speaker 3: period of time. I don't think you just have the
• 32:47
Speaker 3: same guy sitting there. And I think that board has
• 32:50
Speaker 3: to consist of certain types of people age wise in
• 32:54
Speaker 3: order to be able to go back and get some
• 32:58
Speaker 3: of these guys who are sitting now. Cause I like
• 33:01
Speaker 3: the writer. I like having the writers on it. I
• 33:04
Speaker 3: don't necessarily agree that it should be only players because
• 33:07
Speaker 3: I think the writers because sometimes just because you're a
• 33:10
Speaker 3: player don't mean you're studying the game or you're watching
• 33:13
  Speaker 3: the game.
• 33:13
Speaker 5: Some players just don't do that.
• 33:15
Speaker 3: But I would think, like like somebody like me, if
• 33:18
Speaker 3: I were to have that opportunity, I would turn it
• 33:21
Speaker 3: down because I'm saying I would turn it down because
• 33:25
  Speaker 3: I know there's going to be a player that's going
• 33:26
Speaker 3: to know more and is invested into the game way
• 33:29
Speaker 3: deeper than me. And I think that should be like
• 33:32
Speaker 3: one of those things like are you actually it should
• 33:34
Speaker 3: be an interview process. Are you watching again? Are you
• 33:36
Speaker 3: keeping up with everything? Are you a historian? So I
• 33:38
Speaker 3: think that's what writers come into play. But I would say,
• 33:41
Speaker 3: to like Randy Moss and Dion and all those points,
• 33:44
Speaker 3: maybe you don't have as many writers because a lot
• 33:47
Speaker 3: of these writers, from what I'm on it, they're very sensitive,
• 33:50
Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, They're super sensitive about everything,
• 33:53
Speaker 3: and I think maybe they should have a smaller group
• 33:56
Speaker 3: of writers to not make up so much of that board,
• 33:59
Speaker 3: to have so much influence and certainly rotated in.
• 34:02
Speaker 5: I think it should be players. What you think, Lisa,
• 34:06
  Speaker 5: I think.
• 34:06
Speaker 4: It should be twenty five, probably twenty five writers coaches,
• 34:10
Speaker 4: and then twenty five actual players.
• 34:12
Speaker 3: I think twenty five players, twenty five coaches. See I
• 34:15
Speaker 3: would say I would, I would. I would need media.
• 34:18
Speaker 5: I know you. I think you do need media. I
• 34:20
Speaker 5: think you need me. I think they're not playing.
• 34:22
Speaker 3: But because I think media, they're covering the game, so
• 34:25
Speaker 3: they're seeing the totality of the.
• 34:27
Speaker 5: Game, typing in a story. They're not playing the game.
• 34:29
Speaker 3: But now, well, you don't have I don't think you
• 34:31
Speaker 3: have to play the game to understand it and to
• 34:34
Speaker 3: and to know who's great and who's to pick between
• 34:38
  Speaker 3: two superstar players.
• 34:41
Speaker 5: You need to know who you had to play against
• 34:43
Speaker 5: that guy, see them on film or or something.
• 34:46
Speaker 3: But you're not playing in every area, so that's not
• 34:48
  Speaker 3: a fair. You don't do that, I know. That's why
• 34:50
Speaker 3: I said, because you'll be biased to your era. That's
• 34:52
Speaker 3: why I said that we needed to have all airs covered.
• 34:57
Speaker 3: You know, you know, different different ages. But but I
• 35:00
Speaker 3: think when you're sitting in that room and you're looking
• 35:03
Speaker 3: at some film and you know, so if I don't
• 35:05
Speaker 3: know this guy, and so I'm doing my research, so
• 35:08
Speaker 3: I got him up on film, there's something that I
• 35:11
  Speaker 3: can see that I don't think necessarily a writer I
• 35:17
Speaker 3: would say to me, I would say, you have players,
• 35:21
Speaker 3: you have coaches, you have ad men, so you have
• 35:25
Speaker 3: gms and owners sometime in there too, so you have
• 35:27
Speaker 3: those former gms, maybe some former owners like presidents and
• 35:31
Speaker 3: CEOs of like organizations and teams are different of that nature.
• 35:35
Speaker 3: And then you also have media. And I think the
• 35:38
Speaker 3: media can consist of like maybe those color play by play,
• 35:42
Speaker 3: those announcers, and maybe some just some writers too.
• 35:45
Speaker 5: So I think if you add like.
• 35:46
Speaker 3: That, and and to your point, I think you have
• 35:50
Speaker 3: to have it across generations, So there have to be
• 35:53
Speaker 3: some older people in there, and it has to be
• 35:56
Speaker 3: younger people. So it has to be a range of age,
• 36:00
Speaker 3: just across a range of sort of occupations within football.
• 36:05
Speaker 3: So it just it can't just be one thing, because
• 36:08
Speaker 3: like I said, if you if you're in that room,
• 36:10
Speaker 3: it's Carl Lee the football player, and I'm in you
• 36:13
Speaker 3: have another younger person in that room and we're trying
• 36:17
Speaker 3: to decide on whose Hall of Famer, You're gonna be
• 36:19
Speaker 3: biased to your error because you played against those guys.
• 36:22
Speaker 3: So that's all you're gonna see. You're not necessarily gonna
• 36:25
Speaker 3: understand maybe how good this guy is, who is who's
• 36:28
Speaker 3: newer because you didn't play against him. Because you're you're
• 36:30
Speaker 3: gonna be biased to your error. So I think you
• 36:33
Speaker 3: have to. I think that's where the media comes in
• 36:35
Speaker 3: because they're gonna be able to or they I'll say this,
• 36:38
Speaker 3: they should be able to be across you know, generations,
• 36:42
Speaker 3: and and I think if we have less writers and
• 36:45
Speaker 3: media in there, then we can sort of get the
• 36:47
Speaker 3: feelings out of it, because I think they get in
• 36:49
Speaker 3: their feelings, like if somebody don't give them an interviewed
• 36:52
Speaker 3: they wanna may want to keep them out because of
• 36:54
Speaker 3: that and do all these things, you know what I mean,
• 36:56
  Speaker 3: that's the issue.
• 36:59
  Speaker 5: Yes, ma'am.
• 37:00
  Speaker 4: I think I think Hollis just called you O L
• 37:03
Speaker 4: D in an NFLUS.
• 37:07
Speaker 5: You see, but only you would want to come back
• 37:10
Speaker 5: and makes your eye I said, But I said, Era,
• 37:13
Speaker 5: that's what I said. I said, Era, let me this
• 37:18
  Speaker 5: real quick.
• 37:18
Speaker 4: So so Bill Belichick obviously is not in on first ballot,
• 37:23
Speaker 4: he will be eventually. Do you think, and I know
• 37:26
Speaker 4: that this would not be ethical, It wouldn't be right.
• 37:30
Speaker 4: But we're all but they're humans. These fifty people on
• 37:33
Speaker 4: this committee are human. Do you think that they may
• 37:35
Speaker 4: have taken into consideration his performance while being the head
• 37:39
Speaker 4: coach at North Carolina.
• 37:41
Speaker 3: Uh, that's actually a really good point. I hope they didn't.
• 37:45
Speaker 3: I mean I would hope they. I hope they because
• 37:47
Speaker 3: those are to your point, Whew said, those are apples
• 37:49
Speaker 3: and oranges. I would really hope they would not do
• 37:52
Speaker 3: that if they did that to me, that that's totally
• 37:55
Speaker 3: in the back of the time.
• 37:56
  Speaker 5: Maybe, but I but I don't.
• 37:58
Speaker 3: But I don't see how you even consider the number
• 38:00
Speaker 3: one is college is not in NFL it's not you
• 38:02
Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, it's it's the Pro Football Hall
• 38:05
Speaker 3: of Fame. It's not you know, the football Hall of Fame.
• 38:08
Speaker 3: And to me, what he did, like I said, I
• 38:10
Speaker 3: just I think it was a it was a mix
• 38:12
Speaker 3: of the Flakegate. I think Bill Belichick has a Grawley personality.
• 38:18
  Speaker 3: He's not a likable person. So I think a lot
• 38:20
Speaker 3: of the media in that room, and maybe even some
• 38:23
Speaker 3: some former players, they just.
• 38:24
Speaker 5: Didn't like him, you know what I mean.
• 38:26
Speaker 3: But and I think, but but even with all that,
• 38:28
Speaker 3: I just don't see how you get around with his accomplishments.
• 38:31
Speaker 5: I don't see how you do it.
• 38:32
Speaker 3: And the same and and again you talk about a
• 38:35
Speaker 3: person like Sterling Sharp now and you're talking about it's
• 38:38
Speaker 3: clear to see, Nah, that's different. That's different. We can't
• 38:41
Speaker 3: compare that. You could compare to Yo, because I think
• 38:44
Speaker 3: Too is the perfect comparison, because they didn't like Tyo.
• 38:47
Speaker 3: But I think Sterling. But I think with Stella, his
• 38:50
Speaker 3: career was just too short. I think they took that
• 38:52
Speaker 3: in consideration. He only had seven years, so I think
• 38:55
Speaker 3: they was again he should have probably been in a
• 38:58
  Speaker 3: long time ago.
• 38:59
Speaker 5: But I think with his career being only said.
• 39:02
Speaker 3: He's but in those seven years, in those seven years
• 39:06
Speaker 3: was the streak. There was a Jerry Rice guy that
• 39:09
Speaker 3: played for that team called the forty nine ers that
• 39:12
Speaker 3: was behind him and Yard each and catches when they're
• 39:17
Speaker 3: both at their prime.
• 39:20
Speaker 5: But it's only seven years. But even to compare that,
• 39:22
  Speaker 5: I mean.
• 39:23
Speaker 3: But so so so are you making the case too
• 39:27
Speaker 3: that if you if somebody comes in plays all seven years,
• 39:32
Speaker 3: goes Pro Bowl, all.
• 39:33
Speaker 5: Pro is not, he can't be worthy of a first
• 39:40
Speaker 5: ballot Hall of Fame. Again.
• 39:41
Speaker 3: I'm again as a player who played in that era,
• 39:45
Speaker 3: who understood what he did in his era. Your perspective
• 39:49
Speaker 3: is different. If you're a writer and you're like, maybe
• 39:54
Speaker 3: maybe a touch younger than me, you didn't see Sterling
• 39:58
Speaker 3: sharp in his prime in his era. So what you're
• 40:00
Speaker 3: looking at, you're looking at seven years and you're just
• 40:03
Speaker 3: looking at the toe. You going to the bottom of
• 40:05
Speaker 3: the baseball or excuse me, football card, and you're just
• 40:07
Speaker 3: looking at the total numbers. And that's and that's kind
• 40:10
Speaker 3: of where you're stuck at. You're not you're not necessarily
• 40:12
Speaker 3: diving deep into which which is which is? Which is
• 40:15
Speaker 3: a fall in the sta because you got to be
• 40:19
Speaker 3: able to find those people so that you don't make
• 40:22
Speaker 3: these mistakes and have guys sitting out there passing away
• 40:28
Speaker 3: before they they they get they get in and being
• 40:31
  Speaker 3: notable players.
• 40:34
Speaker 5: See, that's my problem.
• 40:35
Speaker 3: I for players who who are great players have been
• 40:42
Speaker 3: great players. I think the worst the worst thing that
• 40:48
Speaker 3: happens in my to me, in my mind is when
• 40:51
Speaker 3: a guy passes away before he gets his roses, and
• 40:57
Speaker 3: and and so. I don't how you look at it
• 41:01
Speaker 3: from the media. I don't care how you look at it,
• 41:04
Speaker 3: as you know, the public.
• 41:07
Speaker 5: When you've played against these teams.
• 41:09
Speaker 3: Like, I'm not gonna say if I have to go
• 41:13
Speaker 3: and say, if somebody would ask me, you talk about
• 41:16
Speaker 3: running backs, it's all kinds of great running backs, right,
• 41:19
Speaker 3: I can pick and choose all across the board. If
• 41:22
Speaker 3: you asked me, was Roger Craig in that group? Oh yeah,
• 41:27
Speaker 3: do you think he's in the middle, top, bottom or whatever?
• 41:29
Speaker 5: He at the top.
• 41:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, he's at the top.
• 41:33
Speaker 3: And and he was with a team that has a
• 41:36
Speaker 3: ton of great players, every one of the most all
• 41:39
Speaker 3: their skilled guys or notable skilled quarterback.
• 41:43
Speaker 5: Right, they're all in. Sorry, let me let me ask
• 41:47
Speaker 5: you guys this so well.
• 41:49
Speaker 3: I asked Lisa, what did we think about to have
• 41:52
  Speaker 3: time show?
• 41:54
Speaker 4: I liked it, Yeah, and I liked it because the
• 42:00
Speaker 4: music was great. I liked this symbolic moment that they
• 42:06
Speaker 4: had so, I mean, the real life wedding. I thought
• 42:09
Speaker 4: that was pretty you know, yeah, that was Yeah. I
• 42:13
Speaker 4: found that out today. I thought it was just part
• 42:15
Speaker 4: of the performance, but it was actually officiated and celebrated,
• 42:18
Speaker 4: you know, right there on the stage. I liked. I
• 42:21
Speaker 4: liked the part of it where bad Bunny, you know,
• 42:23
Speaker 4: handed his his Grammy to that excuse me, young boy,
• 42:28
Speaker 4: and you know it kind of like, I don't know,
• 42:30
Speaker 4: it kind of painted a picture of when, you know,
• 42:32
Speaker 4: his journey from Puerto Rico to being this global star
• 42:35
Speaker 4: he is now. I like that a lot. And I
• 42:37
Speaker 4: really liked the graphic at the end of the performance
• 42:41
Speaker 4: on the you know, on the sign that said the
• 42:44
Speaker 4: only thing more powerful than hate is love. So I
• 42:47
Speaker 4: felt like it was just overall it was you know,
• 42:50
Speaker 4: I thought it was a good performance.
• 42:52
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 42:53
Speaker 3: I thought the music was a look because, to be
• 42:55
Speaker 3: honest with you, I've never heard of like I didn't
• 42:58
Speaker 3: I've never heard his music. I had neither, So like
• 43:01
Speaker 3: the music even though it was in Spanish, it was
• 43:03
Speaker 3: it was, it was okay.
• 43:05
Speaker 5: The show was just it was okay.
• 43:07
Speaker 3: I mean, I think the thing in everything you said
• 43:10
Speaker 3: as far as the imagery, like there was a lot
• 43:12
Speaker 3: of more Easter eggs and different things of that nature
• 43:14
Speaker 3: and there so that I mean, that was pretty cool.
• 43:16
Speaker 3: But the music was better than what I thought. But
• 43:18
Speaker 3: overall it was like yeah, And I don't know if
• 43:22
Speaker 3: this is if this is for the super Bowl, specifically
• 43:29
Speaker 3: for the super Bowl. I don't know if I'm wrong
• 43:34
Speaker 3: when I say this, but like I think that that
• 43:37
Speaker 3: that the artists that we.
• 43:39
Speaker 5: Choose should be able to.
• 43:45
Speaker 3: Sing play something that the entire audience can understand. You
• 43:54
Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I mean, I got I mean okay,
• 43:57
Speaker 3: like I got nothing against them. I didn't know him,
• 44:00
Speaker 3: know him prior to and I'm not gonna I'm not
• 44:03
Speaker 3: like I'm gonna go buy something of his. I don't
• 44:07
Speaker 3: have it. I don't have a problem with him being there.
• 44:12
Speaker 6: But to me, when you when you start talking about
• 44:16
Speaker 6: the super Bowl and you talk about something that's as
• 44:21
  Speaker 6: American as it can be, I don't mean, I don't
• 44:25
  Speaker 6: mean it in.
• 44:26
  Speaker 5: A bad way.
• 44:26
Speaker 3: I really don't but but you know, and I get
• 44:31
Speaker 3: I get that too. But but if you're going to.
• 44:33
Speaker 5: Give me a song, you just want to be able
• 44:36
Speaker 5: to sing. I want to be a sing along.
• 44:37
Speaker 4: With you, you know.
• 44:38
Speaker 3: Or I want to be able to say, oh I
• 44:41
Speaker 3: like that. I'm gonna go get that.
• 44:43
  Speaker 5: You know.
• 44:43
Speaker 3: I like country music anyway, So you know, you might
• 44:47
Speaker 3: have been there, he might have been able to get me.
• 44:49
  Speaker 5: But I don't know a word of it. And I
• 44:53
  Speaker 5: just don't.
• 44:56
  Speaker 2: Say.
• 44:56
Speaker 4: What is the Mackerina back in ninety three?
• 45:04
  Speaker 5: Again?
• 45:08
Speaker 3: I mean, and I know that people don't want to
• 45:11
Speaker 3: say it, you know, and I'm probably I feel it.
• 45:15
  Speaker 5: I just I just didn't.
• 45:16
Speaker 3: I just didn't feel it because it didn't get me,
• 45:18
Speaker 3: you know, like I would have loved to have know
• 45:20
Speaker 3: what he said. I think maybe, I mean that's actually
• 45:23
Speaker 3: a good point, maybe like caption, but I don't know
• 45:26
Speaker 3: it was. It was just okay for me. So in
• 45:28
Speaker 3: addition to the super Bowl, Now do any do any
• 45:32
Speaker 3: of you watched or do you pay any attention to
• 45:34
Speaker 3: the Winter Olympics. I tend to to watch the Winter Olympics.
• 45:40
Speaker 3: I enjoy what it's like, like the downhill, like the
• 45:43
Speaker 3: downhill stuff, the downhill yes, I love that. I was
• 45:47
Speaker 3: watching the parallel Giant Sloan and it's basically they're on
• 45:53
Speaker 3: the snowboard and they're like weaving in and out of
• 45:56
Speaker 3: the flag, so they're going like in and out, in
• 45:58
Speaker 3: and out. When I tell you, that might be my
• 46:02
Speaker 3: favorite win. And I've never seen this before. This is
• 46:04
Speaker 3: my first time seeing it on Sunday. You had to,
• 46:09
Speaker 3: I think the women's and the men's They was actually
• 46:11
Speaker 3: like this was the metal racing, so I seen like
• 46:13
Speaker 3: the bronze and the gold metal races, and it was
• 46:15
Speaker 3: they have a short saloon and they have a a
• 46:18
Speaker 3: a giant one so they have you know, the heels
• 46:20
Speaker 3: are bigger when I tell you, like there was this
• 46:25
Speaker 3: was maybe one of the best. I mean because I
• 46:27
Speaker 3: like the speed skating, I like curling, and I'm a
• 46:30
  Speaker 3: figure skating.
• 46:31
Speaker 5: Guys, are you a figure skating? I don't bother me either.
• 46:34
Speaker 5: I like it too, Lisa, how about you?
• 46:37
Speaker 4: But I like I like them. I actually like the
• 46:40
Speaker 4: skating and I also like the curling.
• 46:42
  Speaker 3: Curly, Yeah, I don't. I like curling. Curling is what's
• 46:47
Speaker 3: up me? I'm telling you it's fun.
• 46:52
  Speaker 4: That's relaxing. I don't know. I could just sit there
• 46:55
Speaker 4: and watch it, and they just they're so focused. And
• 46:58
Speaker 4: that's probably a sport I can excel at in the Olympics.
• 47:01
  Speaker 4: Maybe that's why I'm practiced too. I don't think they've done. Yeah.
• 47:06
Speaker 3: I like Bob and I like the speed skating too.
• 47:08
  Speaker 3: I mean that's just like it's like a sprint with
• 47:11
Speaker 3: skates on, and I could it was hard for me
• 47:14
Speaker 3: to fathom how fast. And it's one she's an American,
• 47:18
Speaker 3: her name sister of mine, but she's just moving incredibly
• 47:22
Speaker 3: fast on those skates. It's it's just unbelievable how talented
• 47:27
Speaker 3: that they have to be to go that fast just
• 47:32
  Speaker 3: a just a blade a blade, dude, crack man, I'm
• 47:36
Speaker 3: breaking an ankle, tearing my knee up.
• 47:40
Speaker 4: No way, did you guys about Lindsey Vaughn breaking her legs?
• 47:44
  Speaker 5: Look?
• 47:46
Speaker 3: I could not, but now, and to put it in
• 47:47
Speaker 3: context for those who don't know Lindsay Vaughan, I think
• 47:50
Speaker 3: in practice she tore she basically ruptured or basically I
• 47:53
Speaker 3: think she tore her a cl and then she gets yeah,
• 47:57
Speaker 3: then she gets back out there, goes fast than what
• 48:01
Speaker 3: she did previously, and it's about to compete for try
• 48:04
Speaker 3: to get a medal again and get this. She ain't
• 48:07
Speaker 3: twenty two, she's like forty fifth. Yes, Like yeah, if
• 48:10
Speaker 3: she can, I would say, Man, if she could just compete,
• 48:14
Speaker 3: if she gets four fifth a bronze, if she can
• 48:18
Speaker 3: literally just maintain and compete, it's one of the most
• 48:21
  Speaker 3: amazing things ever. I truly think it's It's like, I'm
• 48:27
Speaker 3: gonna give it the analogy of like like football, man,
• 48:30
Speaker 3: Like I think that you know, parts of your body
• 48:35
Speaker 3: trying to do that kind of stuff, and as you
• 48:38
Speaker 3: keep getting as you get year after year, get older
• 48:40
Speaker 3: and older and older, it.
• 48:42
Speaker 5: Don't get any easier. Yeah, she took a nasty fall.
• 48:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, and when you try to come back off of
• 48:46
Speaker 3: something like that, man, it's just it's you just can't.
• 48:49
Speaker 5: You're not like you're twenty. Yeah, but she's still competing.
• 48:53
Speaker 5: That's the amazing thing.
• 48:55
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 48:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, But is that competing worth maybe you know something
• 49:00
Speaker 3: that's goned Ultimately it is because you got to think,
• 49:03
Speaker 3: this is the Winter Olympics. This is once every four years,
• 49:06
Speaker 3: so it ain't like coming back next season. This is
• 49:08
Speaker 3: and she's forty Like I'm saying, I'd make the case
• 49:11
Speaker 3: like she I'm surprised.
• 49:14
Speaker 5: That she's back. Yeah, I would, now I agree with them.
• 49:16
Speaker 3: You know, because you know it's someone And again I'm
• 49:19
Speaker 3: sure she planned on it. She trained and she did
• 49:22
Speaker 3: everything she had to do. But again, like I said,
• 49:24
Speaker 3: man age has a way of finding you in a
• 49:27
Speaker 3: certain kind of way, and it ain't It's usually not good,
• 49:30
Speaker 3: and I don't wish that for her.
• 49:33
Speaker 4: Yeah, I just looked it up. Guys. USA Today reported
• 49:36
Speaker 4: she had a devastating injury after Olympics crash. So she
• 49:41
Speaker 4: she's already wiped out. She had shelter hair before. I
• 49:46
Speaker 4: think that's what we were referring to before the Olympics started.
• 49:51
  Speaker 5: Okay, okay, okay.
• 49:53
Speaker 4: And she broke her leg in a downhill crash at
• 49:56
Speaker 4: the Olympics twenty three hours ago.
• 50:00
Speaker 5: She broke her leg. So this was so she had
• 50:02
  Speaker 5: two injuries.
• 50:04
Speaker 4: Yes, well, yeah, she had the aco pair and she
• 50:08
Speaker 4: insisted yes before during the trials and she insisted on
• 50:12
Speaker 4: going through with the Olympics. And then just less than
• 50:16
Speaker 4: twenty four hours ago she went down here on broker
• 50:19
Speaker 4: leg and a crash also.
• 50:20
Speaker 5: So okay, so she also she's done it.
• 50:23
Speaker 3: So she's done that, and see and seeing that's the
• 50:27
Speaker 3: and that's the competitiveness of an athlete when you I mean,
• 50:32
Speaker 3: you know your age, you know you're vulnerable, you're coming
• 50:35
Speaker 3: off of an injury already, and you're going to just
• 50:38
Speaker 3: still try to go out there and compete. Man, you
• 50:40
Speaker 3: know it, and it's hard to walk away. You love
• 50:43
Speaker 3: a sport so much and you an age is trying.
• 50:47
Speaker 3: You know, you've been so successful at it, and now
• 50:49
Speaker 3: age is the only thing that's keeping you from for
• 50:53
Speaker 3: you participating, competing. You're like, Okay, I can beat the age.
• 50:57
Speaker 3: I want to go against Hollis and now I go
• 50:59
Speaker 3: out there. Then you go out there. You can't beat
• 51:02
Speaker 3: the age. You just can't. You cannot do.
• 51:04
Speaker 5: Oh man, that sucks because I didn't realize she broke
• 51:07
  Speaker 5: her legs.
• 51:08
Speaker 4: It just happened. It just happened like less than twenty
• 51:10
Speaker 4: four hours ago. But here's the guys. I mean, when
• 51:12
Speaker 4: you play football and you completely rupture your ATM.
• 51:17
  Speaker 5: You're done. You're done, right, You're done for a year.
• 51:24
Speaker 5: And she's out there.
• 51:25
Speaker 4: For how did she even get on a pair of skis?
• 51:29
Speaker 5: Who let her go?
• 51:30
Speaker 3: Who let her go? But I think, to my point,
• 51:33
Speaker 3: it's like, who's going to not let her? Because this
• 51:35
Speaker 3: is it. Yeah, like I said, you ain't coming back
• 51:38
Speaker 3: no more, like you're done after I mean, I guess
• 51:40
Speaker 3: what is she Lissa?
• 51:42
Speaker 5: You said she's forty.
• 51:43
Speaker 4: Five, No, she's forty one.
• 51:45
Speaker 3: Forty one, so she came back again. She'll be forty
• 51:48
Speaker 3: five in four more years. So I don't know if
• 51:50
Speaker 3: this is up. Yeah, this is it at a sport
• 51:53
Speaker 3: that you're you're going at tremendous speeds going downhill, so.
• 51:58
Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, yeah, it's real. Yeah.
• 52:01
Speaker 3: Well, well I think we covered a little bit of
• 52:07
Speaker 3: all of it. So ladies and gentlemen, we're gonna get
• 52:11
