- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Hello, everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to another great episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: I am your host, Mickey, and joining me today is Bethany.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: And today we have a lot of exciting scripture to share.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: And that's what the truth is.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: The truth is the word of God.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: And why do we share it?
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Because we want to inspire people.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: We want to help people to just gain knowledge and learn what God has for our lives.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: It's so important that we understand scripture.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: And the best way to do that is to speak about the truth.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: And where do we find it?
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: We find it in God's Word.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: God shares his truth to us day in and day out.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: But sometimes I think we get so busy that we forget to pick up the good book and we get into it and we start dissecting it and reading it and allowing the truth to take hold of our actual lives.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Did you know that if you just read the Word of God every single day, you'll start breaking free from all of the things that hold you hostage?
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: The enemy wants to keep us bound, but God wants to set us free.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: That's why he went to the cross.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: And today I can't wait to bring in Bethany because she has done a lot of work on this message, and I can't wait for her to share it.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: And um, so good morning, Bethany.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have you say hello and and pray us in this morning if you don't mind.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Great.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: Great to be here this morning.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: And um excited to share with you all what God has placed on my heart.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: And so let's pray.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: In Jesus' name, amen.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Thank you for that.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: I'm totally excited about what you have to share today.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: I know you worked really, really hard on this lesson.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And again, we are staying on the topic of prayer this week.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: So just to recap a little bit of last week, we talked about Matthew chapter six and breaking down the Lord's Prayer and how Jesus actually spoke to us through the prayer.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: And um, there was a lot of power and a lot of learn, learn lessons with that prayer, with Jesus teaching us how to pray.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: And this week, you're gonna dive into um talking about the importance of being thankful.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: So I can't wait for you to share that.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: So go ahead and start and um let's jump right in.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: Now, as we start off here, start in Psalm 103, verse 2.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: It says, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: And I think that is so powerful when we consider not only prayer in general, but also when we talk about interceding for people that we don't neglect to thank God for his benefits.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: And I do think that is one of the main reasons why it's so important to start our day before we get up by thanking God for his protection over our lives and thanking him for restraining Satan over our lives because to me that's it okay, we when we do that we acknowledge God.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: And if you say, Well, I don't have much time in the morning, that's okay.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: It's more important, I believe, to acknowledge God in that way of thanking him for his protection and thanking him for restraining Satan throughout the day.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: That helps your mind, that helps my mind to understand that we're not depending on ourselves, we're not in this whole um reactionary type time of when things come up, how do we react?
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Well, by praying before we get up, we are thanking God for what he is doing.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: We are thanking him for what we can't do.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: We're not able to do what he does in in regards to his protection and restraining Satan.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: And so I think it's important for us to remember that it is wise for us to acknowledge him first thing, before we even get up, before we do anything else.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Because I I do believe that Satan does know when we are in a mindset of either being quick with things, we have to hurry up and do things.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: And how often does Satan's influence come in during those times?
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: And if we haven't acknowledged God, if we haven't thanked him for what he's doing, then that's our choice to um allow Satan's influence to take hold, and yet understanding that it is our choice.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: And so when we look at Psalm 103, verse 2, and we look at the end of that verse especially, and forget not all his benefits, his protection and how he restrains Satan are two of those benefits, and so even just that verse, I think, is powerful enough to anchor our day if we choose to do what we should um to do that, and so now let's look at some more verses.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: Um before we do that, Mickey, do you have anything to add to that or share?
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Well, I think that um when we when we think about God's benefits, um actually sometimes I think that we don't think about God's benefits, that what he does is benefit us.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Um a lot of times we go to God in prayer because you know we have needs or wants or desires, but we forget that God has already offered us so many benefits that we forget to acknowledge.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Um one is forgiveness and the other is love as well.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I think that we sometimes lack in those areas in our prayer life where we're we're always thinking about, you know, we're praying for specific people that have medical needs or physical needs, mental needs, um, or um like somebody that might have financial struggles, might need a home or a car or food.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Um sometimes I think we pray about those things, but we don't think about the benefits are already there.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: The benefits are already in the word of God, and that's why us teaching the word, like we're like we're we're doing, helps people to recognize if we get into the right scripture and we're reading it and we're sponging it and we're sitting at Jesus' feet, God's going to fulfill those benefits.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: That is his promise to us, that he will fulfill that.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: So we need to be mindful that instead of sitting around worrying about it and and asking sometimes for for frivolous things, that we need to be mindful, just be thankful, like you said, for all the benefits he has already given us and be be reminded that the benefit is already there.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we go out, we're begging God for it, but God says, It's already there.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: My word says it's there.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: So we do need to be thankful for that, and we need to recognize that.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: So that's a really good point because I never really looked at prayer like that before.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: So um that's a really good point to bring to the table because um it, you know, it kind of opens up your eyes to it because we don't think about the benefits God has already given us.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: And we do need to be thankful.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: And I know a lot of times people are like, oh, thank you for another day, or thank you for the air in my lungs, but there are so much more benefits that God has for us.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: We aren't even we aren't even scratching the surface for everything God has for us.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: So great point to point out.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: I love that you pointed that out.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: That's great scripture right there.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: All right, now um let's go to Romans chapter one, starting um with verses eight through twelve.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: And this is Paul um talking to the people that are there with him.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: Verse eight.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Verse nine.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: Verse 10, making request, if by any means, now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: Verse 11, for a long for I long to see you, that it might be, that I might impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: Verse 12, that is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith of both of you and me.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: And so going back to verse nine specifically, when he when Paul thoughts about not ceasing to make mention of them in his prayers.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: I think that's important for us to recognize that we shouldn't neglect to pray for others.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: And our next episode um will be talking about James five and also some other verses in James that talk about how we should pray, and that will be another powerful um episode, and so you'll want to um make sure you're there for that too.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: But here now, as we look at these verses, look at this passage, and understanding who Paul was.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Before Paul became a Christian, his name was Saul, and he was a persecutor of Christians.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: And so now to see from his conversion to Christianity, to see his passion for others, it's quite powerful to understand that here he is, he has a passion for others, a passion for not neglecting them in prayer, and what we can learn from that, I believe, is truly so powerful.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Do we do we understand how important intercessory prayer is?
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Makey, what are your thoughts on this?
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: Well, I think intercessory prayer holds a lot of power because um, you know, like it it they talk about like when a mother prays over their children, you know, sometimes her child is protected through the mother's prayers because the child is still running amok out in the world, you know, and they just have it come to reality.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: And somewhere down the line, um Paul recognized this that prayer for others is important.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Um and when he went to the different churches, he he seen the differences between the Ephesians and the Corinthians and the full uh the Philippi, the Ephesians, all of those churches, he's seen differences in their in them and in their prayer life.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: And um, and look how he was with Timothy.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Timothy was the last person he spoke with, and I love his relationship with Timothy.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: It's it's really something, it's another episode for later, but it's so powerful.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: One thing he told Timothy is a lot of times we talk about generational curses, but Timothy's curse wasn't or his generational um gift that was given to him wasn't a curse, it was prayer.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: His family prayed for him instead of cursing him.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: And look at the outcome Timothy had.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: So that is just one example of how intercessory prayer works in somebody's life.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: It doesn't have to curse you.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Now, a lot of times we go cursed.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Um, we go cursed sometimes from birth.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: I was cursed from birth because my my dad abandoned me, you know, and then my mom, and then, you know, so on and so forth.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: So those are curses that get put on you that you have to struggle through in life, and you and it makes it a little bit harder to overcome and understand.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: But with Timothy, he had the opposite.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: He had a mother and a grandmother that prayed for him.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: And and the outcome of that prayer was look how good Timothy turned out.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: And Paul brought it to Timothy's attention and said, Some people are cursed, but you're blessed because you have these people praying for you.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: And because of those prayers, look at where you are today.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: So that's just an example of intercessory prayer.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: And I think it's I think it's a really good thing.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: We should be praying, you know, like the new law says, we have the old law, we have the new law.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: The New Testament law basically says, love God, but love others as you love God.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Because if you do not love others as you love God, then you don't love God.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So we have to keep that in mind, and that goes with our prayer life too.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: If we're constantly only praying for ourselves, that puts us in a selfish little box.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: And we want to be careful of not doing that.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: And it's okay, God wants us to talk to him.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: But we need to be thinking and be mindful of others as well, if that makes sense, too.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: So I hope that answers your question.
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: Um, continuing on here, now let's look at verse 21 of Romans 1.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: Now to me, Romans 1 is a great chapter to study, especially um starting with verse 16 through the end of the chapter, it really gives a foundation, I believe, of even where we're at today.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: And um so well looking at verse 21, because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but because became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened.
- 20:07SPEAKER_02: And when I think about just that verse, that tells me how vital being thankful to God is.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Now, people may say, well, why is it so important to verbally thank God for what he does?
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: Well, let me ask when is the last time you got busy in your day and something sudden came up in your day, and you were just panicked.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: You were like in a frenzy trying to figure out well how how is this gonna work and how is that gonna work, and I don't understand and I truly believe that one of the keys to switching even that response is that before getting up because it does work, it does focus your mind on what you need to focus on.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: And when you start that routine, I guarantee you you will see a difference in your response to sudden happens.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: I truly believe that one of Satan's tactics is to get people to choose to be all frantic and um you know out of sorts when they plan their day out and yet something happens and their day shifts, and we have a choice to make at that time.
- 22:59SPEAKER_02: And so going back to verse 21 of Romans 1, understanding that how important being thankful is, and so that's Mickey.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Do you have any thoughts on that?
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the scripture to me is telling me that um kind of like when we talked about Matthew 6, um, how we have to not have vain repetitious prayers, that we we can't just pretend to be thankful, we need to really be thankful.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Because if we're pretending to act wise, I like I like what it says here.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: It says professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: If we're gonna put on the the facade and the costume and the phony fake, um, God already knows our hearts.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: I don't know who we think we're trying to kid when we're praying.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: And even when it comes to being thankful, we if we're not truly thankful, God knows that too.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: If we truly, you know, are not thankful for anything, you know, God knows it.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: So we need to be careful because it literally says right here that if we are not thankful and we're just speaking vain imaginations, that we are nothing but fools.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: We're foolish and our hearts are become going to become darkened and um um you know we're gonna be corrupted and it's gonna cause problems for us because um God, you know, he's not a respecter of persons, but he knows us so individually that he knows if we're full of garbage or not.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: He knows if if if what we're saying is truthful or not truthful.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: So there's no sugarcoating or hiding behind a bush with God because he knows everything.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: You can't hide anything.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: There is no under-the-rug or closet for God.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: No, no matter where you try to go or whatever you try to do, you you can't you can't um you can't get away with anything with God because he's omnipotent, he's perfect, there is absolutely no way around it.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: So why do it anyway?
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: And honestly, he would rather honestly, if you're not thankful, don't thank him.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Don't go to God and thank him for something you're really not thankful for, because that's a lie.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Now you're just a liar.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: You're doing exactly what the enemy, and the enemy can also use you against God in your prayer life.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: So I love that you're bringing the scripture to the table because it's so powerful that um you know it's clearly telling us, you know, that we have not um, we are not to be using vain imaginations, we are not to be thanking God for things we're not thankful for, but we are to be thankful.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: We should be thanking God.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: And sometimes I think sometimes for if you're not used to it, you're not um routinely used to thanking God for the things that you have in your life, you have to start somewhere, even if you're not a hundred percent thankful, just wake up and start taking a look around at your life and going, you know what, if if God didn't exist, this wouldn't be half this wouldn't be here.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be here.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't have the air in my lungs, I wouldn't have a house over my head, I wouldn't have a bed to sleep in.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: And bring it down to the simplicity of God instead of the magnitude of God.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we want to take everything to the biggest extreme when God just wants to bring it home.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: And in our prayer life, that's where it starts.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: It starts with bringing it right home, bringing it right to having a one-on-one conversation with God.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: And but make it truthful.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: Make it truthful.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: Don't don't, you know, God already knows if you're full of garbage or not.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Like you know, you can't you can't try to um talk God into something, and you can't try to talk him out of something.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: So we gotta be careful.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: So that's this is good scripture right here.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: This is really good.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: Um now let's go to Romans 12 and verse 21.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: And this to me is another um verse that gives us a reason to pray in general to understand why why do we pray?
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: So Romans twelve verse twenty one.
- 27:41SPEAKER_02: Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: And that should be one main reason why we pray because isn't it interesting how subtle Satan's attacks are?
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: No, no, he Satan is not like God, and yet it's amazing how quickly sometimes those attacks happen.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: Those either those thoughts come into your mind or those sudden circumstances come up and your first tendency probably is to react quickly and so to me that verse twenty-one of Romans twelve is one main reason why it's so important to pray because that's focusing your mind on who God is, on what he does, instead of allowing your mind to be consumed with negativity in that, and I haven't studied the verse completely, and so I'm I will be studying it more to just understand for myself what the word evil in that verse is referring to, because it it is important for us to understand what words mean in the Bible, and so often it seems that sometimes words may mean one thing somewhere in the Bible, but they can mean another thing in another area of the Bible.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: And so I will be doing my own study on that, and even on our next episode, then I will um reference that to help us to further understand what exactly does that verse mean, and yet to generally understand it in reference to the importance of prayer.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: And so, Becky, do you have any thoughts on that?
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: I think with this scripture um where it says, be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good, when we talk about it in the prayer aspect, like you mentioned from the very start of our episodes, that if we're praying in the morning and we're praying in the evening and even throughout the day, um, and asking God to protect us from Satan, um He's He is gonna show us how to overcome evil and He's gonna do it through good because God doesn't do anything through evil, He does it all through good anyway.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: So as we're praying and going to God in constant prayer, our outcome will be will be overcoming evil with good because we're going to God in prayer, I believe.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Now, we need to recognize that we're trying to overcome evil.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: Like we all get tested with evil every day, and that's why it's important to go to God in prayer.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: And if we want to overcome the evil in our lives, um, we want God to teach us and show us how to recognize the things that we need to be recognizing.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: Um, because Satan's everywhere and he's pretty good at it.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: He's he's he's been doing it, he's masterful, he's been doing it way longer than we've been alive.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: So um there's nothing new for him.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: For us, it might be new, um, a new challenge, a new hardship, a new, like you said, getting distraction or getting you out of sorts, or trying to put a damper on your day, or trying to get you um, you know, all raffled up because you know your day wasn't going the way you planned, you know.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we just have to stop and be like, you know what, Lord, I know this is not of you because you are of good and this is of evil.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: This is this is not you.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: This is this is Satan trying to trying to see how I'm gonna react to this.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we do react poorly.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we forget, and that's okay too.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: We just have to go to God and take that to him so God can show us, hey, you didn't handle that quite so well, but maybe the next time you'll be able to handle handle it a little better, you know.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: And um, it's all a learning curve with God.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: That's why Jesus had to come because God realized how much learning we really needed to do.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: Um, but prayer helps because that veil, it's it's a veil that when we go to God in prayer, he places a veil over us because we're his bride, you know, and we're going to him um and asking for his help to overcome this evil with God's goodness.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: He places that veil on top of us.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: And so it's really important to keep it in our minds that we are faced with evil every single day, sometimes even before we get out of bed.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Yes, sometimes in our sleep pattern, sometimes in the food we eat, sometimes um it could be anything.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: The enemy knows how to, he, he, he's he's evil, he's corrupted, he's sneaky, he can get in there really quickly.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: Um, and if we're not paying attention, he he can get in there and put a foothold.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: You all you have to do is open your door this much and he can get in.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah without you even knowing.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: You might just crack a window to get a breeze in your house and bam, he's in.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: You know, I mean it could be that simple.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: So if if we're constantly in prayer with God, he's gonna help us to recognize the evil where sometimes we don't recognize it.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: We're just trying to deal with it.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: And we're and we're suffering.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: Sometimes we suffer in it because we're not even paying attention that it's the enemy that's doing it to us, you know.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: And so God's like, okay, I'm waiting for you to reach out to me so I can help you with that issue, you know.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: And so that's why you know God wants us to overcome evil with his goodness, with his love, with his mercy, which with his grace, with his benefits.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: He has so many benefits for us.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: So we need to keep that in mind.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I hope that helps with answering that question.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: Wonderful.
- 35:24SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 35:25SPEAKER_02: Um, now let's look at Romans chapter 13 and verse 14.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: This is another verse um that gives us a reason why to pray.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: But put yeon the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts there all.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: And if this is not another powerful reason to pray, I don't know what is.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: Um when we think about not making provision provision for the flesh.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: And as I was thinking about that, as I am thinking about that, even now what I go back to when you get up in the morning?
- 36:55SPEAKER_02: What is your mindset like?
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: Are you are you in a frame of mind where you have to be going all the time?
- 37:13SPEAKER_02: Or are you in a frame of mind that says, okay, I I need to pause and pray, so that not only does God recognize I'm acknowledging Him, but so that my mind recognizes that too.
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: And to me that that is one powerful reason to verbally pray, to verbally thank God for his protection and for restraining Satan and for just prayer in general.
- 38:09SPEAKER_02: Because how often do we pray within our within ourselves and yet we still struggle?
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: We still have that war going on.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: And so verbal prayer, I believe, is powerful because even in my own experience it's amazing how better I feel when I verbally prayed when my mind understands that I've taken the time to verbals.
- 39:20SPEAKER_02: Um forgetting the reference now.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: Um but there is a verse that I will also mention more in our next episode, but a verse in Proverbs.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: I believe the reference is Proverbs 17, 19.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: But like I say, I will for sure um reference it correctly on our next episode and just mention it more.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: But when it talks about keep thy heart with all diligence out of it are the issues of life.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: And even that verse, I believe, is important for us to remember the importance of even verbalizing our prayers and um but like this verse, Romans thirteen, verse fourteen talking about make no provision for the flesh that needs to be another focus, another reason for not only prayer, but verbalizing.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: And so, Mickey, do you have any thoughts on that?
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: I like where it talks about um putting on putting on the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: It brings me to another scripture, um, the armor of God.
- 41:33SPEAKER_01: If we get up, um I would suggest after prayer.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: If we get up after prayer with the mindset of placing, you know, putting the armor of God on us, and that'll be a whole that's a whole nother subject because we could break that whole armor down.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and each part of the armor can be a whole lesson in itself.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: But thinking about getting up and putting on the armor of God each day is going to help us stand against the the evil that we're gonna face that day, every day.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: Um just like prayer is gonna help us face the evil that we're gonna face that day.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: So I think like when I when I pray to God, sometimes, sometimes I, you know, I'm like, okay, God, just help me get through this day.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: I got a lot on my plate, I got a lot going on, whatever.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: Um, sometimes I don't think to armor up.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I just think, okay, God, I'm just gonna ask you to help me get through it.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And God's like, okay, let's see how you do it without any of that armor.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: And he'll let you do it.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: I think he will let you go through it.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: Um, because we forget to armor up, even though we've prayed still.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: Part of prayer life is putting on the armor, you know.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: And we'll get into that as we're, you know, because there's so much to prayer.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: Um, I think we will, you know, add this in another episode, but putting on that, when it says put on the Lord Jesus Christ, that is your armor.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: That is your armor against the wicked wells of the enemy, no matter what.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: And even if you do get up and forget to armor up completely, if you're putting on the Lord Jesus Christ, you you're you're covered, you're gonna be covered in the blood of righteousness.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: There is no evil in that.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: That is all of goodness.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: So if you think about it in that manner, um, that's a pretty good protective covering, if you ask me.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: But you have to ask for it.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: You have to ask God to show you, hey, if I'm if I'm acting out in the flesh, if I'm acting out lustfully, and lust isn't just for those listening, it's not just a sexual thing.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: People think lust is just sex.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: It's not, it's it's you could lust over food, you could lust over your phone, you could lust over your children, your family, your house, your finances.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: You can you can lust over anything.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: Um, it's kind of like having an idol.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: You can idolize anything.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 43:48SPEAKER_01: Um, so you gotta be really careful what you're lusting over.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: Um, because you know, some people prefer you know it to be food or whatever.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: So when we think about that, we Want to set our flesh aside and think on the things of Jesus Christ always.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: And if we do that, we are going to be less likely to be tempted by the enemy because we already have the blood of Jesus Christ over us.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: And the enemy already knows that he can't penetrate that.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: There's nothing, you know, he can't get through it.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: So we need to keep that in mind.
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: That with that scripture saying when we're putting on the Lord Jesus Christ, we're setting our flesh and our desires and the things, our selfishness aside, because we're taking on the covering of Jesus.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Now, that's not saying God doesn't want us to get up and enjoy our day and enjoy the sunshine and enjoy each other.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: He wants us to be protected from evil.
- 44:45SPEAKER_01: So I try to explain to people that you know sometimes we get in our heads um this overwhelming, oh well, God just wants us to do what God wants us to do.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: No, God wants us to do what we desire, what we want to do, but He wants it to wants us to do it and be fulfilled in it without all of the evil wickedness that can come with it.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: Because we live in a wicked world.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: So that's that's where we have to separate ourselves from the world.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: He doesn't say we can't we can't participate in the the godly things of the world.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: You know, it says the wicked things of the world.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: So we just need to we need to decipher the two and learn how to distinguish that, if that makes any sense.
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: So I hope that kind of um, I know it kind of went a little bit here and there, but um um, you know, as we're as we're getting to the end of our episodes, I know that for sure putting on the armor um definitely will be one that you and I can dive into uh towards the end of this, you know, um prayer because there's so much to share on it, you know.
- 45:45SPEAKER_01: But anyhow, go ahead, I'll let you finish.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: Well, as we talk more about um the importance of interceding for people, and you know, actually meaning that we'll pray and all of that.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: First Samuel chapter twelve, verses twenty through twenty-four.
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: This is Samuel talking to the people, and let's notice starting with verse twenty.
- 46:41SPEAKER_02: Verse twenty, and Samuel said unto the people, fear not, ye have done all this wickedness, yet turn not aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart, and turn not ye aside.
- 47:14SPEAKER_02: For then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: For the Lord will not forsake his people, for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you his people.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: Numbers 23, moreover, as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you, but I will teach you the good and the right way.
- 48:03SPEAKER_02: Only fear the Lord and serve him in truth with all your heart for consider how great things he had done for you.
- 48:20SPEAKER_02: Um, let me go back verse 21 and turn not yeah and turn ye not aside and turn ye not aside.
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: That is if you're reading it quickly, it is hard to get not in the right place as it says, and so um even Samuel there in verse twenty three, Samuel even talks about um how that he would consider it a sin not to pray for others.
- 49:29SPEAKER_02: And I I find that profound to understand that wow the importance of interceding on people's behalf.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: There are people even in the Bible, even in the Old Testament, who knew the importance of interceding, who knew how strongly it was, and just to think even back then when they didn't have the Bible like we do, and yet they understood, and so that if that doesn't encourage us, that intercessory prayer is so important.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: Make it do you have any thoughts on that?
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Well, this thought brings me to again what I mentioned earlier about um um the old law and the new law where God says, you know, we have to love one another as we love God or, you know.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: Um again, God doesn't want us to be selfish.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: He doesn't want us to keep all of our prayers for ourselves.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, some of us need need a lot of prayers for ourselves, but we also need to consider praying for other people.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: And one thing I know for myself, just as an example, when I'm praying for somebody else, my needs don't don't seem to be as heavy or feel as needed or as an as not really not not that my prayers aren't important to God, but it helps me to recognize that there are people that have bigger needs than what I have.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: And sometimes we have to take our eyes off of just ourselves and and and see that other people are going through things way far worse than what we are going through.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: And it helps us not, it helps us not to be that victim or have that self-pitiness on ourselves.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Um, and it helps us to love one another and go, man, you know, that person's really going through it, you know.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm sorry they're going through it.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'm also thankful it's not me.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: You know, I mean, I don't want to sound selfish in that manner either, but it's true.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: We don't want to wish bad upon ourselves.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: We're not supposed to do that either.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: But I I didn't ever recognize this scripture as far as Samuel actually saying that um, you know, you know, we are not to withhold or we, you know, the ceasing of prayer because I never realized he said it was a sin.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: But that's really interesting that we say that because um Samuel was so smart, he's very, very, very intelligent, you know.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: Um and that's why I I like Samuel.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: I like the book of Proverbs.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: He writes a lot of the book of Proverbs, um, and because he's so powerful.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: Now, um, it's interesting that he's teaching us this because we cease to pray in general sometimes, but we especially cease to pray for other people because we're we're praying selfishly.
- 53:04unknown: Right.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: You know, we're praying just for ourselves.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: So I love that it's teaching us this because we need to understand that um God doesn't want us to be selfish even even with our prayers.
- 53:16SPEAKER_01: He wants us, you know, to just as he wants us to love one another, he wants us to pray for one another.
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: They kind of go hand in hand, you know.
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: If you love someone, you're gonna pray for them.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: If you care about somebody other than yourself, you're gonna pray for them.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: So I can see, like, you know, if it says in the Bible, if you don't, if you don't love one another, then you don't love me, God says.
- 53:37SPEAKER_01: So it kind of goes with the prayer, um, the prayer life.
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: If if you're not gonna pray for someone, you know, and you're only gonna pray for yourself, then then I can see that being a sin because of what God's word says.
- 53:48SPEAKER_01: So it's really interesting.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: I never realized Samuel said this part, so I learned something new today, which is exciting.
- 53:54SPEAKER_01: Um, and I will probably study more into that as well because um I didn't recognize that before um today.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: So I'm glad that you brought that up.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: But as we get into um the rest of this message and we start getting into our closing um message, we need to make sure that um as we're talking about prayer, it's okay to not know everything.
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: You know, because like you just taught me something new today, and I was like, wow, I didn't realize it actually says in the Bible it's a sin not to pray for somebody else, you know.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: Um like blatantly says it, you know.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: Um, and I've read the Bible, you know, through and through many times.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: Um, but sometimes, like you said, one word will mean one thing and one word will mean another thing.
- 54:41SPEAKER_01: And it depends on what church you go to and what what um class you're in and what scripture reading, what Bible study you're in.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: You're gonna learn different things in different manners, and it might even be around the same word, you know, and and the word might have different meanings.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: And um, so again, for prayer, to me, prayer is a part of God's love language, I think.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: You know, like we have the five love languages.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: I think prayer is God's ultimate love language.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's our connection.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: So um, I think it's really important.
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: So it would make sense to me that God would think it would be a sin if we didn't pray for one another because he wants us to love one another.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: So it really it does make sense now that we're talking about it.
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I'll I'll let you continue on as we get into our closing.
- 55:27SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 55:28SPEAKER_02: Um, and we just have um two more passages to look at for our episode today.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: Um, but we don't want to um be hasty in looking at them.
- 55:53SPEAKER_02: And so now we go to Job Job forty-two, verses seven through ten, and I would strongly recommend that you study the book of Job, starting with chapter one, not neglecting all that's in that chapter, because that chapter lays the foundation for the rest of the book.
- 56:41SPEAKER_02: But here as we look at Job 42, verses 7 through 10, verse 7, and it was so that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Aliz Timnight, My wrath is kindled upon thee.
- 57:17SPEAKER_02: My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends, for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
- 57:37SPEAKER_02: Verse 8.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: Therefore take unto you now seven bullets and seven rams, and go to my servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering, and my servant Job shall pray for you.
- 57:59SPEAKER_02: For him will I accept, lest I deal with you after your folly, and that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
- 58:21SPEAKER_02: So the life has the tonight and build at the Shuite, and so far the Naamanite went and did according as the Lord commanded.
- 58:38SPEAKER_02: Um the Lord also accepted Job.
- 58:46SPEAKER_02: Verse ten is the key verse.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: And the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his hands.
- 59:05SPEAKER_02: Also, the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- 59:46SPEAKER_02: And to look at verse ten and really understand what that verse says, what that verse means.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_01: Well, I think the this book is amazing.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: I love Job.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_01: There's a lot, there's the sovereignty of God is huge in this book.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_01: And like you said, you need to start with chapter one and read the whole book.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: But these three friends went to Job and said, You must have done something for God to punish you the way that He is.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: The reason He's allowing you to suffer and take everything away from you and put all this on you.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: You had to have done something.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: You've done something wrong.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_01: And and Job kept saying, But I I didn't.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_01: I stayed faithful, I stayed righteous.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: And and they're like, No, no, no, no, you had to have done something.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_01: And it's amazing that these three, these three friends of Job's, which helped him through it, they they felt his suffering, they saw his pain, they witnessed everything he went through.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: That's what's crazy.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Job still, in his righteousness, turned around and prayed for them.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_01: And that's when God released him, because God already knew he was gonna do that.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_01: God, God, that's why God chose him in the very beginning of this book.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_01: Um, now the enemy didn't know that, but God did, because God already knew Job's heart.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_01: So God said, Go ahead, pick Job.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_01: You go right ahead.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_01: I already know he's righteous.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: I know what he's gonna do, I know how he's gonna handle this.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: So, and and his friends, after all of the suffering that he went through, Job still prayed for them.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: It's it's a big wow factor to me.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: This whole this whole book to me is a big wow factor.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: And I I I battled with this screw this chapter because when when Job is asking God, why did you let this happen to me?
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: And God says, I really don't have to give you that answer.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_01: It kind of floored me a little bit, you know, because we always say, why, why, why, why God all the time.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: That's what we say in our prayer a lot of times.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_01: In our prayer life, it's why God.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_01: God doesn't have to explain himself.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: No, he's already chosen to do what he's gonna do, no matter what it what it is.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_01: You know, so this this book is this book is amazing.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_01: Like you said, you could read it probably ten times, and you will get something new out of it every single time.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_01: That's how big that's how huge.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, the whole Bible's like that, but Job, Job has a is such a good lesson for us to learn because we really it's very humbling.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_01: It's a super humbling book.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: And um it's one that I think will, well, I think for myself will bring you to your knees, honestly.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_01: It'll take you right to God in prayer and be like, God, you know, I am undeserving, I am, you know, thank you for thinking I'm righteous, but you know, through his sovereignty, Job even recognized, as frustrated as Job got with God, he still recognized how sovereign God was, even in his frustration with God.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: So that there's there's so much to this book.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, we could literally dissect this book and it'd probably take us a month to do it, but um where he prays for those three guys that literally throughout the whole book said, What did you do?
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_01: What did you must have done something to deserve this?
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: You know, and and Joe was like, I did it, I swear.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: You know, it's like it's it's baffling, you know.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_01: And then Job turns around and prays for them, intercedes on their behalf because of their confusion and their disbelief.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_01: They didn't believe Job.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's so big.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: I mean, this this book is is is very broad, I will say.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_00: So I can't wait to hear what you're gonna say on this subject.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah, I um and also just to recognize what, or maybe I should say who was the actual source of all this, because and the I won't go into further detail, that'll be for another episode, but just to understand that in Job one when Satan comes to God and to understand that it wasn't necessarily God who caused all this to happen.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_02: No, yes, God did allow all that to happen, but understanding that it was Satan who asked God permission.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_02: Or should I say it, that God gave Satan permission.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_02: And so I think even in that we need to recognize that God is not up in heaven just being like, hmm, I wonder how how painful I can make people's lives and how devastating and no.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_02: We do have an enemy.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: And this entire podcast that Mickey is doing is helping people to understand the importance of crushing those strongholds, of recognizing the enemy.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_02: And he is alive and he's well and he's working nonstop.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_02: If we don't understand that, we will have a misguided view, a misplaced view of who God is.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_02: And we don't need that.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, just understanding who God is through prayer and not lashing out at God.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_02: And that there too is another episode.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_02: Um but now let's look at one final passage.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_02: Let's look at when Jesus was here on earth.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: And even as we consider that, as we consider Jesus' life here on earth, thirty-three and a half years or so, but then to understand that his ministry was three years, and all that he did in those three years, and even in his entire life here on us to understand how Satan continually tempted him.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_02: Again, Luke twenty two, thirty-one and thirty-two.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_02: And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, Behold, Satan hath desired to have you, to sift you as wheat.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_02: Verse thirty-two.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_02: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_02: And when thou art converted, strengthen thy brother.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_02: No, I do believe that I could spend a long time talking about just these two verses.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_02: But I know we have um a bit of a time constraint now, but to understand that Peter was one of the twelve, one of the inner circle you want to say it that way, of Jesus, and to understand what Jesus said and then to think about it more and wonder okay.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_02: Would Jesus say that to us?
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_02: Would Jesus say your name?
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_02: And would he say Satan has desired to have you deserve you as we know this is another episode.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_02: Um but just thinking about that recognizing the magnitude of that.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_02: Since Jesus said that to Peter about Peter, that Satan desired to have him.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_02: The Lord Santa About herself.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_02: Oh such um eagerness to continue my routine of before getting up and before going to sleep.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_02: Thanking God for his protection, thanking him for restraining Satan.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_02: Now, as we've said, yes, that those two things God does.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_02: But also, as we've said, how quickly do we forget things?
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_02: And so as we end today, I would like to encourage you to just put yourself in that conversation.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_02: Now, obviously, none of us witnessed that conversation in person with Jesus and Peter.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_02: But shouldn't that encourage us to pray more, to thank God more for what he does?
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_02: And so take time.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_02: Please take time every day to pray, to pray for others, to thank God verbally.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_02: Open your mind, focus on what is right to not be so quick to react negatively.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_02: And I um I am working on a five-day challenge that I will be launching um at the end of January.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_02: And so, but Mickey, do you have any thoughts on this?
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_01: Um, I think that um we're gonna be challenged every day by the enemy.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_01: Yes, and um that scripture is really it kind of brings it back home that that that the enemy does want to sift us.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_01: And and but here's the one thing I want to encourage our listeners to, and it may or may not encourage you, actually, because the first time somebody told me this, I was kind of like baffled.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_01: But the enemy doesn't care at all about us at all.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_01: He just wants one more number taken away from God.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_01: He doesn't care if he destroys you, the the enemy does not love you, no matter how much he tries to portray you with his lies.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_01: He will lie to you bold facely to your face to convince you that the evil side is the better way to be.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_01: Um, and if he has to manipulate you through love or lust or um material things, he'll do it.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_01: He'll do it.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_01: Um he wants to sift us out, and the ones that are really easy to fall into that trap, he's got it made.
- 1:16:35SPEAKER_01: It's the ones that are sitting on the fence, honestly, that he's playing tug-of-war with.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_01: So if that's you today, if you're a listener and you're sitting on the fence today and you're struggling between, you know, which way to go, which direction, which which road to take, um, just know this.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_01: The enemy doesn't give two hoots about you, but God does.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_01: God loves you so much, he sent his son to die on a cross for you.
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_01: He blood he blooded precious blood for your soul that he would take on all of the sins of this world, all the sins that we have done, even the times that we sided with the enemy, we can still be forgiven for that.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_01: God wants to forgive us for that.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_01: God wants to help us get through that.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_01: And we do struggle.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_01: We are going to struggle up until the day we die.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_01: Now, here's the difference between getting saved and not being saved is that once you're saved, um, you you still need to repent because there are going to be consequences for for the behavior if we continue to go down that path.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_01: Um if you're truly saved and you're praying to God, God's gonna help your heart change.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_01: It may not be instantly some for some people, it is instant.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_01: I've seen people change dramatically with one prayer.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_01: And I've also seen people take years to change being saved, you know.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_01: So it's important to know that um the enemy is not on your side, even though he's he pretends to be.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_01: He's the one who's fake and puts on the facade and wants you to believe that, you know, if he can take you or tear you away from from God, then he's won.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_01: He's won basically another notch in his belt, but he still doesn't care a bit about you.
- 1:18:17unknown: No.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_01: It's his his battle is with the Lord and the Lord only, not with us.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_01: He doesn't care about us at all.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_01: Um, he doesn't care if we go to hell.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_01: So we need to keep that in mind.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_01: When we're up against the enemy, if we recognize that the enemy really doesn't care about us, but God does, it's gonna it it it helps ease our mind when it comes to prayer life, when it comes to making decisions for Christ.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_01: Because when we realize that the enemy is just toying with us just to try to win his battle with the Lord, because the the enemy knows the Lord too, you know, and he will because he wants to be God.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_01: Um, but we want to serve a risen Savior.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_01: We don't want to serve a corrupted, evil, wicked, vile um enemy that really doesn't care at all about us.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_01: God cares about us.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_01: He loves us, he created us.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_01: Um, he created us with passion, he created us with an imagination, he created us with a purpose and an assignment.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_01: Um he created us so uniquely that there's not one one of us out there that's that matches.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_01: Even if we have a twin, we're not we're not gonna be exact 100%.
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_01: That's how much God loves us.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_01: So it's important to remember that when we're working on our prayer life, remember the side of God and the side of the enemy because the enemy wants to see us fall.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_01: The enemy wants us to wake up and have a really crappy day.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_01: And excuse the language, but it's the truth.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_01: He wants to see us have really bad days.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_01: Matter of fact, um, he he enjoys that.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_01: You know, there are some people out there, and the world is so wicked right now that there are some people that literally are okay with watching people suffer and struggle.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, that's what he did to Job.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_01: He did that to Job.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_01: Um, God didn't, like you said, necessarily do that to Job.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_01: The enemy did, but God knew who he could choose that that that would prove God's point in in the battle, you know.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_01: And um, it was Job, you know.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: It would not have been me.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_01: I know that I could not have gone through what Job went through and been and stayed righteous, but maybe, but I don't think so.
- 1:20:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I can just see me, you know, just having a big old tantrum, honestly, like a two-year-old.
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_01: I I know I would.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_01: So um I can't wait till we get into uh the episode of Job because that's gonna be a really good episode.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_01: But again, for this for this episode today, um recapping and continuing on with prayer, we need to make sure that we are praying in the morning, we are praying in the in the evening, we need to pray always, we need to pray without ceasing, and we need to pray for one another.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_01: We need to intercede in prayer for each other, and we need to be mindful of what we're praying and what we're saying, which we're gonna get into that next week, as to um the correct, kind of the correct way that God wants us to pray, what to pray for and how to pray for it.
- 1:21:18SPEAKER_01: Um, because sometimes I think we waste our prayers on things like that we're not gonna that are not gonna get answered.
- 1:21:24SPEAKER_01: So we want to talk about that next week.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_01: And uh, in that episode, like you said, in James 5, we'll dive into that.
- 1:21:30SPEAKER_01: But as far as this episode goes, what a great episode, like a lot of good, good, good scripture.
- 1:21:36SPEAKER_01: Um I mean, all scripture is good as far as I'm concerned, but I mean it it's exciting when um it hits home and it and it just re reconnects you or uh rekindles the fire in your spirit and in your life.
- 1:21:51SPEAKER_01: Um it just makes me love Jesus even more, you know, when I read it.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_01: And it's exciting to me that um knowing just you know just how much God, you know, just right off the bat when you start talking about our benefits, even it's like we we don't even pay attention sometimes to what we have in front of us.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_01: And look at Nigeria, look at the the third world countries that are getting killed and persecuted for having one page of the Bible, and yet we have the Bible right here in our hands, and we we we don't even realize the benefit of having the word of God, you know.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_01: So we need to be mindful, and with the time that we're living in now, especially getting into the end times and with all of the darkness and wickedness, we need to be on the right page.
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_01: We need to be on the right path, and we need to be focused, and we need to be praying for one another.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of people going to hell.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_01: Yes, and we need to be praying for them.
- 1:22:51SPEAKER_01: That's why we need to be interceding for people.
- 1:22:53SPEAKER_01: And um, when we start interceding for people, I I read something, I believe it was might have been James again, where it talked about um every time you you pray someone out of their sin, that's one more soul that goes to heaven when you pray them out of their sin.
- 1:23:13SPEAKER_01: So if we're praying for someone, even if they don't know we're praying for them, we can pray for someone, you know, and our prayers are are fervent and they're effectual and they're accepted and wanted by God.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_01: And sometimes our prayers will take someone that's a sinner out of their sin and they will turn to Jesus Christ.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_01: And that's what we want.
- 1:23:35SPEAKER_01: You know, that's what we want.
- 1:23:37SPEAKER_01: So yeah, let's continue in prayer and um let's close out with prayer.
- 1:23:41SPEAKER_01: We need to wrap up.
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_01: We've we um went a little long today, but but I mean, we could go on for a couple of hours, I think, because there's a lot of good word.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_01: I think God um has given us his word um and a lot of word that we could go on and on and on and on about it, you know, and and I and never ever get tired or bored of it.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know about you, but I could I could do this all day long.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_01: But I know for our listeners that um some people have to, you know, cook meals and get up and get things done.
- 1:24:12SPEAKER_01: So we need to wrap it up.
- 1:24:14SPEAKER_01: But um, I'm gonna close this out in prayer.
- 1:24:16SPEAKER_01: Is there anything you want to say in closing before I pray?
- 1:24:19unknown: No.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_01: All right, Heavenly Father, God, Lord, we just thank you, Lord.
- 1:24:23SPEAKER_01: We thank you for today.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_01: We thank you for this message, thank you for the scripture, Lord.
- 1:24:27SPEAKER_01: I thank you for Bethany for putting in the time and the research and doing all of the homework, Lord, and just bringing all of your word to the table today, God.
- 1:24:36SPEAKER_01: And we just thank you for opening our eyes and our hearts and our minds and help us, Lord, to be gracious.
- 1:24:42SPEAKER_01: Help us to be thankful.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_01: Help us to understand and and and want to receive all the benefits that you've already offered us, Lord.
- 1:24:49SPEAKER_01: Help us to recognize it.
- 1:24:50SPEAKER_01: Lord, help us to come to you more often in prayer.
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_01: Help us to be mindful that our day needs to start and end with you.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_01: Our day needs to be about you always, even throughout the day, God.
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_01: Help us to pray without ceasing, Lord.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_01: Help us to pray for one another.
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_01: Lord, I just ask that you just soften our hearts and renew our minds to where we can just be focused and solely thinking about you, Lord, to weak to where we can help people to come to know who you are, Lord.
- 1:25:17SPEAKER_01: We want to intercede for people, Lord.
- 1:25:19SPEAKER_01: So many people are lost right now, so many people go into hell.
- 1:25:22SPEAKER_01: Lord, we just ask that you just give us the vision, give us the purpose, and give us the desires to pray for one another.
- 1:25:29SPEAKER_01: Lord, we thank you so much for this message.
- 1:25:31SPEAKER_01: We thank you for this podcast, we thank you for this opportunity.
- 1:25:33SPEAKER_01: Lord, I just ask that you just let it go broad, let it go live, let it go as far as the east is from the west, Lord.
- 1:25:39SPEAKER_01: We just thank you so much.
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_01: We just love you in your precious name, Lord.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_01: What a good message.
