- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, jumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off a one
- 0:10Speaker 2: tackler catch inside the forty down of the thirty five yard.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Line powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Matt Pumpfak's looking at.
- 0:16Speaker 2: The gold line.
- 0:17Speaker 3: He throws it into the m zone. Touchdown.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:23Speaker 2: end zone. A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and
- 0:26Speaker 2: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 2: place on this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Jovie.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Welcome back. Hawk Talk is back.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I know we've been gone for a long time, but
- 0:39Speaker 4: we're officially back here for the twenty twenty three season.
- 0:42Speaker 4: You know, my guy, Michael Bumpus, you hear every day
- 0:44Speaker 4: on Bump and Stacy Show on seven ten Seattle Sports
- 0:47Speaker 4: is back with me this year. You're not gonna miss
- 0:50Speaker 4: a beat with us this year. We're gonna give you
- 0:51Speaker 4: cover all things Seahawks every week, twice a week.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Getting you ready bomb.
- 0:55Speaker 4: This preseason has been has been fun, but Honestly, this
- 0:58Speaker 4: what we've be waiting for. I've been waiting for the
- 1:00Speaker 4: kickoff to get this season going so we can talk
- 1:02Speaker 4: about some real football bump.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Are you excited?
- 1:04Speaker 5: First off? Hello, good sir, how you doing?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Man?
- 1:05Speaker 3: What's up?
- 1:07Speaker 5: We've had got this thing? Yeah, I'm excited.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:09Speaker 6: This has been one of the most anticipated seasons in
- 1:12Speaker 6: a while. I think last year we were anticipating this
- 1:14Speaker 6: season for other reasons, right, who's going to be the quarterback?
- 1:17Speaker 6: Russell's gone defensive coordinator. Now is like, okay, we have
- 1:20Speaker 6: a quarterback. There was some talent that was drafted last year.
- 1:24Speaker 6: Now you're building. Expectations are a bit different and higher
- 1:27Speaker 6: this year. So yeah, I'm ready to go.
- 1:29Speaker 5: Man.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:31Speaker 4: You know, we talked all through the preseason kind of
- 1:33Speaker 4: you know what a difference a year makes, because you
- 1:36Speaker 4: mentioned this time last year was all the questions everyone
- 1:39Speaker 4: and all the national media. Everyone was like, this is
- 1:41Speaker 4: the worst quarterback competition.
- 1:42Speaker 3: In the world.
- 1:43Speaker 4: This and that Pete and John don't know what they're
- 1:45Speaker 4: talking about. Blah blah blah blah blah. Obviously, we know
- 1:47Speaker 4: the Seahawks proved differently. Obviously, you know, Pete and John
- 1:50Speaker 4: know exactly what they're doing. Have this roster constructed in
- 1:53Speaker 4: a way where they can make some noises here, and
- 1:55Speaker 4: I'm really excited and we'll kind of jump into this roster.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Not a whole lot of huge surprise, is honestly, Bump,
- 2:00Speaker 4: just going through the first stop. Obviously, quarterbacks, you got
- 2:03Speaker 4: Geno Smith and Drew Locke running back Canine, Kenneth Walker
- 2:07Speaker 4: the third, Zach Charbonnet who's a draft pick out of
- 2:09Speaker 4: the second round. Really excited about him out of UCLA,
- 2:12Speaker 4: DJ Dallas and Kenny McIntosh out of Utah wide out.
- 2:15Speaker 4: You know who you got, It's Lockett, It's Metcalf JSN
- 2:19Speaker 4: the first rounder.
- 2:19Speaker 3: He's gonna make a lot of noise.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Jake Bobo was kind of a surprise for some not
- 2:23Speaker 4: for my guy Bump, who's been on the Bubo bandwagon
- 2:26Speaker 4: from the beginning.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And Cody Thompson. So Bump.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Just looking at those skill positions up front, man, it's
- 2:30Speaker 4: a lot of firepower, a lot of depth, and a
- 2:33Speaker 4: lot of guys that can.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Make some noise in twenty twenty three.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel good about the skill position. Sharbonnet was
- 2:38Speaker 5: a great pick up.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Kenny McIntosh still haven't really seen what he can do
- 2:41Speaker 6: with pads on. We saw him in training camp looking great.
- 2:43Speaker 6: And then the receiver room, Yes, Jackson Smith and Jig
- 2:46Speaker 6: was going to be out there. Jake Bubbo slides on
- 2:48Speaker 6: the squad, and then Cody Thompson.
- 2:50Speaker 5: We've heard his name a lot. The tight end spot.
- 2:52Speaker 6: We can say the same thing, right Uncle Will Dissley,
- 2:54Speaker 6: nol Fan, Kobe Parkinson. No change is there. We knew
- 2:57Speaker 6: that was going to go down with this offensive line.
- 2:59Speaker 6: There's been a few additions, usual suspects. Charles Cross, Damien Lewis,
- 3:03Speaker 6: Evan Brown comes over from the Detroit Lions, got Phil
- 3:06Speaker 6: Haynes stepping up, Abe Lucas, then you draft Olu and
- 3:09Speaker 6: Anthony Bradford, Curry and Forsyth and Ben Brown are still there,
- 3:12Speaker 6: but we expect the first five to be out there.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Got some young tackles in their second year, Evan Brown
- 3:18Speaker 6: getting in the mix. Everyone else that we've seen and
- 3:21Speaker 6: heard before, d line, Dre Jones the biggest acquisition from
- 3:25Speaker 6: this team in the Pete Carroll and John Schneider era
- 3:28Speaker 6: during the offseason. Jay Reid is back, Mario Everards, excuse me, Edwards,
- 3:32Speaker 6: Mike Morris, Miles Adam, my guy fan favorite, smoothest voice
- 3:36Speaker 6: in the game, and Cam Young haven't really seen much
- 3:38Speaker 6: out of him yet, but he's gonna He's gonna contribute.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Yeah, man, I really like how the Seahawks look up
- 3:43Speaker 4: front on both sides of the ball. You mentioned Jerraymond Jones,
- 3:46Speaker 4: Jared Reed, Mario Edwards, the biggest acquisitions we've had, because
- 3:49Speaker 4: you know, the D line is completely different FM last year,
- 3:51Speaker 4: no more Alwoods, no Shelby Harris, no l. J. Collier,
- 3:55Speaker 4: none of those guys in poona Ford. Guys did some
- 3:58Speaker 4: good things for the Seahawks. But I'm really excited about
- 3:59Speaker 4: Dramane Jones and j Reed. Jay Reid coming back to
- 4:02Speaker 4: the Seahawks. We know what he did the first time around.
- 4:03Speaker 4: He's been at Stopson, Green Bay, Kansas City. Really excited
- 4:06Speaker 4: about what Jay Reid's going to bring. And I think
- 4:08Speaker 4: this team's going to get a lot better on the
- 4:10Speaker 4: defensive line, especially stopping the run, which we will get
- 4:12Speaker 4: into a little bit later. Linebacker fifty four is back
- 4:16Speaker 4: in the Seahawks uniform. All's right with the world obviously there.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Jordan Brooks back from his ACL injury. One of the
- 4:22Speaker 4: craziest recoveries I've ever seen ever. The fact that he
- 4:25Speaker 4: tears his acl and in January and is going to
- 4:28Speaker 4: start Week one, I mean, bump, that is outrageous. Devin
- 4:32Speaker 4: Bush comes over from the Steelers. You're going to see
- 4:35Speaker 4: him out there a lot, John radagaan Nick Blore, and
- 4:38Speaker 4: then on the outside Shennon Wosu, Darryl Taylor, Boyer, Derek Hall,
- 4:41Speaker 4: Tyreek Smith really excited about Derek Hall coming from Auburn.
- 4:45Speaker 4: He's gonna be a guy who can make a lot
- 4:46Speaker 4: of noise this year.
- 4:47Speaker 3: And then also Tyreek.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Smith didn't see him at all last year at Ohio
- 4:50Speaker 4: State kind of essentially red shirted with a medical injury
- 4:53Speaker 4: last year. But he made a lot of plays in
- 4:54Speaker 4: the preseason obviously, Boya and Chenna speaks for itself in DT.
- 4:58Speaker 4: So at linebacker, we're gonna make a lot of plays
- 5:01Speaker 4: and a lot of noise.
- 5:01Speaker 6: Bump, Yeah, man, I'm looking for an uptick. Chenna got
- 5:05Speaker 6: his money. He's gonna go out there and back it
- 5:07Speaker 6: up in ball out. DT's gonna, I think take another step.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Boye Mafe is one of those guys who I think
- 5:13Speaker 6: gets enough gets attention, but not enough attention. Man, his
- 5:16Speaker 6: growth is gonna be great as well. I'm going to
- 5:18Speaker 6: the corners man. We got Reek Woland, the pro bowler.
- 5:21Speaker 6: He will be back. Had a little minor surgery during
- 5:23Speaker 6: the offseason. He's good to go. Trey Brown has been
- 5:26Speaker 6: listed as a starter. They've been waiting for this dude
- 5:28Speaker 6: to really get his time to shine for a long time.
- 5:31Speaker 6: Now he's gonna get it. Mike Jackson are underdog hero.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Love what he brings to the table. Devin Witherspoon hasn't
- 5:37Speaker 6: practiced much, sounds like he's full go this week.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Will see how much he plays.
- 5:40Speaker 6: Kobe Bryant, the versatile guy out there corner safety Nickel
- 5:44Speaker 6: doesn't matter, he can do it all. And then we
- 5:46Speaker 6: have Kyu Blue Kelly as well. Safety spot. You bring
- 5:50Speaker 6: over Julian Love to kind of fill a void in
- 5:53Speaker 6: Jamal Adams absence. He's not gonna play this week. You
- 5:56Speaker 6: draft Jered Reid. He makes the ball club. Love to
- 5:58Speaker 6: see that. And then the og Quandre Diggs, the most
- 6:01Speaker 6: reliable guy you got in that secondary. We're saying a
- 6:04Speaker 6: lot of the same names and I think that's good,
- 6:05Speaker 6: but we're also sprinkling in some new new over there too.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Oh for sure.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Devin Witherspoon, We're obviously excited to see him. He's fifth
- 6:12Speaker 4: overall picking the draft, and he's a guy that can play.
- 6:14Speaker 3: We know he can play.
- 6:15Speaker 4: We haven't seen a ton of them just because of
- 6:16Speaker 4: injuries and whatnot, but great sight to him back out
- 6:19Speaker 4: at practice. Kobe Bryant, super versatile, had him playing safety
- 6:23Speaker 4: in the preseason. We know he can play nickel, we
- 6:24Speaker 4: know he could play outside. Quandre Diggs and Jamal you
- 6:27Speaker 4: don't really need to say nothing about them. If they're
- 6:29Speaker 4: both on the field, they can ball out. Get Julian
- 6:32Speaker 4: Love from the Giant. So there's so much depth. The
- 6:34Speaker 4: secondary might be the best unit on the team, which
- 6:37Speaker 4: is hard to say considering we look at the receivers
- 6:38Speaker 4: and some of the running backs on the squad. So bump,
- 6:41Speaker 4: this team is deep obviously if you go specialists, my
- 6:45Speaker 4: guy Michael Dixon still back there, Jason Myers kicking the
- 6:47Speaker 4: field goals, and long snapper Chrystal.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Shout out to Brian Walters if you're.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Listening, because he's all about Crystal and long snapper battles
- 6:55Speaker 4: throughout the preseason. That was so bump. I think if
- 7:00Speaker 4: looking at all the roster. Of all the names, who
- 7:02Speaker 4: do you think is poisons to have a breakout.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Season this year?
- 7:05Speaker 6: Man, I look at this and I got to start
- 7:07Speaker 6: at the old line. A breakout season just means we're
- 7:09Speaker 6: not calling their name a lot, right, So that's what
- 7:12Speaker 6: I want to see on that offensive line. I think
- 7:14Speaker 6: that eventually we'll see some of Anthony Bradford in Oulu
- 7:18Speaker 6: and if they're able to contribute, I think that's gonna
- 7:21Speaker 6: help that offensive line because we know there's always a
- 7:23Speaker 6: big rotation over there. Breakout season, I know I want
- 7:26Speaker 6: to see it from Daryl Taylor nine and a half
- 7:28Speaker 6: last year. I think you can call last year a
- 7:30Speaker 6: breakout season, but I want to see him kind of
- 7:33Speaker 6: building what he did last year. And then Julian Love again,
- 7:37Speaker 6: he's a veteran. He was a captain over there with
- 7:39Speaker 6: the Giants. We know that he's versatile, but we haven't
- 7:41Speaker 6: seen him in a Seahawk jersey. Those are some names
- 7:44Speaker 6: that I'm looking at. And then of course, you know
- 7:45Speaker 6: receiver for Jake Bobbo. Man, I've been talking about Jake
- 7:47Speaker 6: Bobo since Man since he was undrafted, you know what
- 7:50Speaker 6: I mean. So Jake Bobo for the show I got
- 7:52Speaker 6: to throw him in there. Man who you like, oh hey,
- 7:54Speaker 6: and you kick it around with more Bobo.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I mean, he's been he's kind of been like a
- 7:57Speaker 4: phenomenon that's taken storm because usually you have a a
- 8:00Speaker 4: guy that you fall in love with in the preseason,
- 8:02Speaker 4: but then he kind of drifts off into oblivion. He
- 8:04Speaker 4: maybe makes a squad, maybe he doesn't, maybe he's practice squad.
- 8:06Speaker 4: But Bubbo's gonna be on the roster and Bubble's gonna play.
- 8:09Speaker 4: So I'm excited to see what he can do out there.
- 8:11Speaker 4: You know, for me, honestly, it's it's all over the board.
- 8:14Speaker 4: But I really think offensively, Jackson Smith and Jake buzz
- 8:18Speaker 4: is gonna add a different level to this offense. You know,
- 8:20Speaker 4: for years, I feel like the Seahawks have been searching
- 8:22Speaker 4: for a third receiver option. Well, they drafted at number one,
- 8:25Speaker 4: who's gonna play like a number three. So he's gonna
- 8:28Speaker 4: be causing fits for defenses. And then defensively, I'm really
- 8:31Speaker 4: excited about Jay Reed and Draymond Jones. I mean, I
- 8:35Speaker 4: think they're gonna change this defensive line. On defensive the
- 8:38Speaker 4: Seahawks can be a top fifteen run stopping team. If
- 8:41Speaker 4: even if they're fifteen seventeen, just not thirty, This team's
- 8:45Speaker 4: gonna win four more games just on that alone. So
- 8:48Speaker 4: I'm excited to see these guys. I think there's a
- 8:50Speaker 4: lot of good that can come from this roster. But
- 8:53Speaker 4: they are having an opponent that we're very familiar with.
- 8:56Speaker 4: This is actually gonna be the fiftieth regular season meeting
- 9:00Speaker 4: with this team.
- 9:00Speaker 3: What's on tap? What's on tap? You love to at them?
- 9:08Speaker 4: The Los Angeles Rams coming in from last year a
- 9:11Speaker 4: wild year for them last year, Bump, They've finished.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Five and twelve, third place in the NFC West.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Obviously, they came into last season, you know, the defending champs,
- 9:20Speaker 4: you know, went through, had a great season, win the
- 9:22Speaker 4: Super Bowl, Matthew Stafford, Cooper Cup, Odell Beckham, Junior, Aaron Donald,
- 9:27Speaker 4: all the star power, and then last year, well, father
- 9:30Speaker 4: time got him injury. Stafford gets hurt, Cup gets hurt,
- 9:33Speaker 4: Donald gets hurt, and the season just falls.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Apart early on. And they didn't look good at all
- 9:38Speaker 3: last year.
- 9:39Speaker 4: They still played the Seahawks twice, both times last year
- 9:42Speaker 4: took a game winning drive in the first one. So
- 9:45Speaker 4: it's just they're interesting, though, Bump, I mean, a lot
- 9:48Speaker 4: of other guys are not on the squad anymore, and
- 9:51Speaker 4: we're not.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Really sure about Cooper Cup.
- 9:53Speaker 4: But I feel like the Rams always play the Hawks tough,
- 9:56Speaker 4: and with Matthew Stafford healthy, they're always something you're gonna
- 9:58Speaker 4: have to contend with Sean mcvagh and all that. But
- 10:01Speaker 4: you know, how do you think they can bounce back
- 10:02Speaker 4: from last year? And you think this is kind of
- 10:05Speaker 4: a rebuild slash retool, I don't know all you want
- 10:07Speaker 4: to call it, but it's just another transition year for them.
- 10:10Speaker 6: They transitioning. I don't know what they're gonna call the transition,
- 10:12Speaker 6: but it's definitely a transition going on. Man, Lots of
- 10:15Speaker 6: names are gone, Jayalen Ramsey ain't here no more, Lennon
- 10:18Speaker 6: Floyd isn't isn't there anymore. But you're right, they always
- 10:21Speaker 6: play the Seahawks top. So I'm gonna rattle off some
- 10:24Speaker 6: numbers but they don't really matter. But I'm gonna let
- 10:26Speaker 6: you know what they were last year and then you
- 10:27Speaker 6: do what you want with that. Offensively, the rounds were
- 10:30Speaker 6: thirty second overall. How many teams are in the NFL's.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Thirty two thirty two?
- 10:35Speaker 6: Okay, So the worst offense in the league, which is
- 10:38Speaker 6: crazy to say. With McVeigh, Matthew Stafford and Cup the
- 10:40Speaker 6: guys were banged up. They were twenty seventh when it
- 10:43Speaker 6: comes to running the rock, twenty seventh when it comes
- 10:45Speaker 6: to passing it, in twenty seventh when it comes to
- 10:48Speaker 6: points per game. On the other side, the Hawks were
- 10:50Speaker 6: thirteenth ranked overall, eighteenth running the rock, eleventh when throwing
- 10:55Speaker 6: that thing, and then ninth in points per game, averaging
- 10:57Speaker 6: twenty three point nine. I can almost guarantee you these
- 11:01Speaker 6: offensive numbers for the Rams will not be that at
- 11:03Speaker 6: the end of the season this year. But that lets
- 11:06Speaker 6: you know just the type of trials and tribulations they
- 11:09Speaker 6: were going through last year.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Super Bowl champs.
- 11:12Speaker 6: So the worst offense in the league, We've never seen
- 11:15Speaker 6: it before. Something tells me they'll be better.
- 11:17Speaker 4: It's hard to think they couldn't be, man. I mean, honestly,
- 11:19Speaker 4: if Stafford just out there playing, and even if Cooper
- 11:22Speaker 4: Cup plays half the games, it'll be different.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Though.
- 11:24Speaker 4: I mean, it's not the same roster, not the same firepower.
- 11:26Speaker 4: But Sean McVay is too good of a coach to
- 11:29Speaker 4: falter like that again. And you know, they were okay
- 11:32Speaker 4: defensively despite all the injuries they had. Like you mentioned,
- 11:34Speaker 4: it's the nineteenth and total defense thirteenth to geinst the run,
- 11:37Speaker 4: twenty first against the pass, So they took some decent
- 11:39Speaker 4: things defensively. It'll be interesting to see what happens this year.
- 11:42Speaker 4: But you know, these head to head numbers will definitely
- 11:45Speaker 4: mean more in about a month or so, get some
- 11:48Speaker 4: real bases off it. But from the Seahawks standpoint, just
- 11:50Speaker 4: looking at head to head total defense, there are twenty
- 11:52Speaker 4: six thirtieth against the run, thirteenth to against the pass,
- 11:55Speaker 4: in twenty fifth in points per game. Obviously, all numbers
- 11:58Speaker 4: a Pete Carroll coach team does not want to be in,
- 12:01Speaker 4: and they're definitely going to look to improve those numbers
- 12:03Speaker 4: this year. But yeah, lock and change in a year,
- 12:05Speaker 4: and I feel like we have two teams kind of
- 12:06Speaker 4: going in a different direction.
- 12:07Speaker 3: But we will see.
- 12:09Speaker 4: But we mentioned I kind of touched on a little
- 12:11Speaker 4: bit alluding to this matchup with the Rams. This is
- 12:14Speaker 4: a fiftieth regular season matchup coming ahead, so let's know.
- 12:17Speaker 3: The history, no your history.
- 12:20Speaker 4: The Seahawks lead that all time series twenty seven to
- 12:23Speaker 4: twenty two. The Rams do have a two to zero
- 12:25Speaker 4: lead in the postseason. Last time these two teams met,
- 12:28Speaker 4: the Seahawks kept their playoff chances alive beating the Rams
- 12:31Speaker 4: in a thriller nineteen to sixteen and overtime in Week seventeen.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Bump.
- 12:35Speaker 3: That game was stressful. We had to win to get in.
- 12:40Speaker 4: We also needed the Lions to beat the Packers at
- 12:43Speaker 4: Green Bay, something that no one ever thought could actually happen.
- 12:46Speaker 4: But before the Seahawks even get to that Sunday night game,
- 12:48Speaker 4: they had to win themselves. It was a slow game,
- 12:51Speaker 4: you know, only two touchdowns score by both teams. The
- 12:54Speaker 4: Seahawks were trailing at the half. Tyler Lockett makes it
- 12:56Speaker 4: a tie game. Going down the stretch, the Seahawks feel
- 12:59Speaker 4: like they have it. Jason Myers goes out to kick
- 13:02Speaker 4: a field goal. He's been completely sure handed money all
- 13:04Speaker 4: season long.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Things it off the uprights.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Seahawks go down or go into overtime, and then go
- 13:10Speaker 4: three and now in the first possession. So I remember,
- 13:11Speaker 4: we're down there in the Ring of Honor, getting ready
- 13:13Speaker 4: for postgame show, and it's not looking good. Man Pitt
- 13:15Speaker 4: and the stomach we're concerned. Well, thank god for Quandre Diggs.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Quandre Digs comes over, makes a great interception on that
- 13:23Speaker 4: first drive, points the ball at Bobby Wagner, who was
- 13:25Speaker 4: playing for the wrong team at the time. Seahawks marks
- 13:27Speaker 4: down the field, kick a field goal, win the game,
- 13:29Speaker 4: get to the postseason. So definitely want to see more
- 13:32Speaker 4: of that because the Rams had won a lot of
- 13:34Speaker 4: this matchup in recent years. So it's good to see
- 13:36Speaker 4: the Seahawks get a clean sweep. Well, as we keep
- 13:41Speaker 4: moving along, we're gonna show you what's going on. What's
- 13:43Speaker 4: the word in the West.
- 13:50Speaker 5: And the Seahawks or the NFC West Champs again.
- 13:53Speaker 3: What's the word in the West?
- 13:56Speaker 5: On Hawk talk a right, Well, we haven't played a game. Yes,
- 14:01Speaker 5: we're gonna tell you what was the word in the West.
- 14:03Speaker 6: And twenty twenty two, San Fran won the division thirteen
- 14:07Speaker 6: wins and four losses.
- 14:08Speaker 5: The Seahawks the surprise team in the division.
- 14:10Speaker 6: Honestly, when ninety eight made the playoffs, we talked about
- 14:13Speaker 6: the roums. They struggle last year they were five and
- 14:15Speaker 6: twelve and then the Cardinals were four and thirteen.
- 14:19Speaker 5: The Hawks made it back to the playoffs in twenty
- 14:21Speaker 5: twenty two.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Man, they make it to the playoffs under peat Caroll
- 14:24Speaker 6: ten out of thirteen seasons.
- 14:26Speaker 5: That's exactly what they do for the Rams.
- 14:28Speaker 6: You win the Super Bowl right going into the season,
- 14:31Speaker 6: you're feeling good, but things fall apart. They finished going
- 14:34Speaker 6: five and twelve and had a bunch of injuries. As
- 14:37Speaker 6: far as Arizona wasn't anything really good from start to finish,
- 14:40Speaker 6: they were all bad. There were fourteen excuse me, four
- 14:43Speaker 6: and thirteen, and that was a year they moved from
- 14:46Speaker 6: Cliff Kingsbury. At the end of the season, it was like,
- 14:48Speaker 6: all right, this is this ain't working something ay right?
- 14:51Speaker 6: I think from the outside looking in, we felt like
- 14:53Speaker 6: something wasn't right over there and everything was exposed Kyler
- 14:57Speaker 6: more he tears his acl he's on the pup list.
- 15:00Speaker 6: There was a lot going on in this league. You
- 15:03Speaker 6: got the fall of Arizona. They've never really been great,
- 15:05Speaker 6: but they always have talent.
- 15:06Speaker 5: They do nothing.
- 15:07Speaker 6: You got the Super Bowl champions looking really bad. You
- 15:10Speaker 6: got the Niners doing nine of things over the past
- 15:12Speaker 6: few years. But the surprise team was our Seattle Seahawks.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Interesting year in the West last year, now.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, no question.
- 15:19Speaker 4: I mean you mentioned Arizona usually was a kind of
- 15:22Speaker 4: a thorn in the Seahawks side. But you know, now,
- 15:24Speaker 4: they don't have DeAndre Hopkins, they don't have JJ Watt,
- 15:27Speaker 4: they don't have AJ Green. They traded Isaiah Simmons for
- 15:30Speaker 4: like a seventh round pick.
- 15:31Speaker 3: He's a first rounder.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I mean, so yeah, and they got a new coach
- 15:35Speaker 4: who you know, wait and see. I'm not in a
- 15:37Speaker 4: pass judgment. I know a lot of people are poking
- 15:39Speaker 4: fun and some of the videos are putting out some
- 15:41Speaker 4: of his opening press conferences.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I'll wait. I'll wait until they play game before I
- 15:44Speaker 3: say anything there.
- 15:44Speaker 5: But I'll do it, I know. But I could be wrong.
- 15:49Speaker 3: He's not pumping you up. You didn't get pumped up
- 15:51Speaker 3: by those videos.
- 15:52Speaker 5: There's no fire in my gut ness.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Yeah, bro, it definitely didn't. Didn't set the world on
- 15:58Speaker 4: fire there. You're not gonna win the media. But they
- 16:01Speaker 4: had a tough year. So interesting to see where they're at,
- 16:03Speaker 4: especially with Kaler Murrays starting on the on the pup
- 16:05Speaker 4: and Colt McCoy's out of there, you know what I mean.
- 16:07Speaker 4: So it's gonna be a very different roster from Arizona.
- 16:10Speaker 4: We mentioned the rams we're gonna get in a lot
- 16:12Speaker 4: of those matchups. Moving forward, but they're a different team.
- 16:16Speaker 4: And then bump, you got the San Francisco forty nine Ers,
- 16:19Speaker 4: sang Niners man the team Seahawk fans love to hate.
- 16:22Speaker 4: They won the division last year, beat the Seahawks three times,
- 16:26Speaker 4: Vancy Nantasy championship game, and before any Niner fans jump
- 16:29Speaker 4: on and you know, beat their chest.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Look at the last decade. Please y'all got us three
- 16:35Speaker 3: times last year.
- 16:35Speaker 4: But please look at the numbers, because do yourself a
- 16:37Speaker 4: favor and go to Pro Footballreverence dot com. Look at
- 16:40Speaker 4: the head to head to match up. It is not favorable.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I just want to put that out there. Becau second,
- 16:43Speaker 4: I already feel my forty nine fans you should put
- 16:46Speaker 4: it up reaching out there talking noise. But no, I
- 16:49Speaker 4: mean they're a good football team. I'd be lying if
- 16:50Speaker 4: I didn't tell you that they have probably the best
- 16:52Speaker 4: roster in the NFC top to bottom. I mean, they
- 16:54Speaker 4: got dudes, They got guys who can play. But the
- 16:57Speaker 4: thing that bump, the biggest question mark for me is
- 16:59Speaker 4: the quarter though the Trey Lance era, it's done. They
- 17:02Speaker 4: traded him to Dallas. It never really got started. Jimmy
- 17:05Speaker 4: g He's in Vegas now, Rock Party was mister irrelevant,
- 17:09Speaker 4: and even last year I gave him credit because I
- 17:11Speaker 4: feel like mister Relevan's kind of a dumb thing.
- 17:12Speaker 3: He got drafted.
- 17:13Speaker 4: He's a good player, but it was such a small
- 17:16Speaker 4: sample size bump. I feel like we're kind of ready
- 17:18Speaker 4: to crown him and at the most important position in football.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I don't care if you have the best rosster in football.
- 17:23Speaker 4: If he doesn't play like he should play, they're not
- 17:25Speaker 4: gonna go as far as they want. Again, they're one
- 17:28Speaker 4: of the best teams in the NFL, hands down, but
- 17:31Speaker 4: I do think if the Seahawks are improved defensively, I
- 17:34Speaker 4: feel like they closed that gap and if Rock Party
- 17:37Speaker 4: isn't that guy, the Niners are gonna have a lot
- 17:40Speaker 4: more season than they think.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Here's the thing.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Nine games we saw Rock Party, nine really good games.
- 17:46Speaker 6: He had the best nine games that we've seen out
- 17:49Speaker 6: of a rookie in NFL history in some categories. Okay,
- 17:53Speaker 6: you got to come back and prove that, just like
- 17:54Speaker 6: people were saying, you don't have to come back and
- 17:56Speaker 6: prove this year that he's a Pro Bowl and tight
- 17:58Speaker 6: quarterback broadcasts to do that. I think he's okay. I
- 18:01Speaker 6: think he'll be fine. But I think you said it perfectly.
- 18:05Speaker 6: If this Seahawks team is better against the run and
- 18:08Speaker 6: can corral quarterbacks, we will be just fine. A side note,
- 18:13Speaker 6: Nick Bosa ain't going nowhere. He just signed a five year,
- 18:15Speaker 6: one hundred and seventy million dollar deal, so we still.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Got to deal with him. That's all good. We got
- 18:20Speaker 5: lineman for that. We've been drafting good.
- 18:22Speaker 3: It's all good. Charles Cross and Abe Lucas, they're good
- 18:25Speaker 3: to go.
- 18:27Speaker 4: But dang, I'm not gonna watch you. I was hoping
- 18:28Speaker 4: that he found h moved on a greater pastures in
- 18:31Speaker 4: the AFC, AFC, go get your money's what that's what
- 18:35Speaker 4: eighteen and a half sacks gets him. Okay, let's get
- 18:38Speaker 4: back into these rams and look at the matchups.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Man up, man up on Hawk Talk.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Starting off with the quarterbacks like we usually do, Matthew
- 18:54Speaker 4: Stafford taking on this Seahawks defense, and Matthew Stafford We've
- 18:58Speaker 4: alluded to it throughout the podcast today.
- 19:00Speaker 3: He's got a.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Tough year in twenty twenty two, playing in only nine
- 19:03Speaker 4: games as he dealt with a concussion. Then he had
- 19:05Speaker 4: a spinal cord contusion which caused numbness in the leg
- 19:07Speaker 4: shut him down for the final two months of the season,
- 19:10Speaker 4: but a lot of the struggles were out of his control.
- 19:12Speaker 4: You know, in those nine games he played, he was
- 19:14Speaker 4: two of six for three zero three two th eighty
- 19:16Speaker 4: seven yards ten touchdowns, but he did have eight interceptions.
- 19:19Speaker 4: In Bump, this man was sacked twenty nine times in
- 19:22Speaker 4: nine games. Yeah, for context, for context, the Super Bowl year,
- 19:29Speaker 4: he was sacked thirty times that whole season.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Didn't this gracious?
- 19:33Speaker 4: And you know because of that, the Rams did have
- 19:35Speaker 4: the most starting lineup combinations on the offensive line in
- 19:37Speaker 4: the NFL last year and gave up fifty nine sacks
- 19:40Speaker 4: as a team, So there was a lot going on there. Also,
- 19:44Speaker 4: Cooper Cup, their best offensive weapon, the best receiver in
- 19:46Speaker 4: the game, hands down, twenty twenty one sent all those records.
- 19:49Speaker 4: You know, he only played nine games. And Cupp is
- 19:52Speaker 4: still dealing with the Hanscring injury. He went out to
- 19:53Speaker 4: see a specialist early this week. He's been listed a
- 19:55Speaker 4: day to day. We'll wait and see on him again.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Cooper Cup never wished the injury on anybody, the pride
- 20:00Speaker 4: of Eastern Washington. You're a baller me and Bump are
- 20:02Speaker 4: big fans of you. But if you want to come
- 20:04Speaker 4: back in week two, we're cool with it.
- 20:07Speaker 5: We good with that.
- 20:08Speaker 6: You know what the Rams season reminds me of whenever
- 20:12Speaker 6: I'm on a course and I shoot a birdie, I
- 20:14Speaker 6: know the next howe is gonna be all bad.
- 20:17Speaker 5: They went eagle.
- 20:18Speaker 6: They went eagle one year, and the next year they
- 20:20Speaker 6: win Triple bogey Man. You know how the game go.
- 20:23Speaker 6: That's what I see with the Rams. That's why I
- 20:25Speaker 6: believe there's no way they're gonna repeat what they did
- 20:28Speaker 6: last year. Too many balls are They're a good coach.
- 20:30Speaker 6: We gotta be ready to go. Matthew Stafford's gonna be healthy.
- 20:33Speaker 6: Let's talk about our quarterback, Gino smith Man. Now, Gino
- 20:37Speaker 6: had one of the best seasons in the history of
- 20:40Speaker 6: the Seahawks. He what in five hundred and seventy two
- 20:43Speaker 6: attempts to at three hundred and ninety nine completions forty
- 20:47Speaker 6: two hundred yards, completed sixty nine point seven to six
- 20:50Speaker 6: percent of his passes, almost in that seventy percent mark
- 20:53Speaker 6: that we've been chasing ever since Russell was here. He
- 20:55Speaker 6: became the third QBING franchise history to throw for thirty touchdowns,
- 20:58Speaker 6: the only quarterback in the NFC to throw for thirty
- 21:01Speaker 6: touchdowns now at that sixty nine percent completion rate, best
- 21:05Speaker 6: in the NFL. He also he was eighth and passing
- 21:08Speaker 6: yards fourth and touchdowns fifth and passer rating and six
- 21:12Speaker 6: in QBR at sixty one point one. No denying that
- 21:17Speaker 6: this man balled out last year, and he oh side
- 21:20Speaker 6: note sixty eight carrics for three out of six six
- 21:22Speaker 6: yards in a touchdown.
- 21:23Speaker 5: He can get busy a little bit too.
- 21:25Speaker 6: He's not sure your run first type of quarterback, but
- 21:27Speaker 6: if there's grass in front of him, he'll be ready
- 21:29Speaker 6: to go. We expect him to improve on that number,
- 21:32Speaker 6: especially because you got an O line group that added
- 21:36Speaker 6: some pieces. Your tackles are coming back. You have a
- 21:38Speaker 6: running back room that has more talent. You got Ken Walkers,
- 21:42Speaker 6: Zach Sharpenney will talk about these guys. And then you
- 21:44Speaker 6: add a receiver who's your number three receiver, who has
- 21:46Speaker 6: the ability to be a number one receiver. The Rams
- 21:50Speaker 6: were twenty first against the pass last year, allowing twenty
- 21:53Speaker 6: to twenty six yards per game. So let's get after
- 21:55Speaker 6: you all have to see Jayalen Rams ain't got to
- 21:57Speaker 6: worry about dk Jalen going at it in in personal
- 21:59Speaker 6: fouls and all that stuff, weaking his focus on the game.
- 22:02Speaker 6: But Gino Smith is going to have a good year.
- 22:05Speaker 6: I believe in I believe in his approach. I'm excited
- 22:07Speaker 6: to see him.
- 22:08Speaker 4: He's not a fluke man. I mean it's straight up
- 22:10Speaker 4: a guy is confident as him and does what he
- 22:13Speaker 4: does after not playing for as long as he did.
- 22:14Speaker 4: That doesn't happen by accident. That doesn't happen week after week.
- 22:17Speaker 4: You don't throw for almost seventy percent completion percentage by accident.
- 22:21Speaker 4: I mean that doesn't. You can you can. Maybe you
- 22:24Speaker 4: might have a ton of touchdowns, but you could have
- 22:25Speaker 4: don Jameis Winston. You might have thirty five touchdowns, but
- 22:27Speaker 4: thirty five interceptions. That wasn't Gino. I definitely think he's
- 22:31Speaker 4: gonna repeat and have a great year. You mentioned the
- 22:33Speaker 4: running backs, Ken Walker, you know, looking at this matchup
- 22:35Speaker 4: with the Rams front seven, walk Ed won hell of
- 22:38Speaker 4: a rookie season as much of these guys did. He
- 22:40Speaker 4: joined Kurt Warners the second rookie in franchise history to
- 22:42Speaker 4: rush over over one thousand yards, second in franchise history
- 22:45Speaker 4: with five hundred dard rushing games. His nine touchdowns lit
- 22:48Speaker 4: all rookies second in the NFL in runs of twenty
- 22:51Speaker 4: yards or more with ten. He only cheriled Nick Chubb.
- 22:54Speaker 4: And he did all that and only eleven starts in
- 22:56Speaker 4: fifteen games played, ran for over a thousand yards nine touchdown.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Should have got Rookie of the Year. I know I'm biased.
- 23:03Speaker 4: It could have been him, It should have been Reek.
- 23:05Speaker 4: He unfortunately went to the two dudes on the Jets,
- 23:07Speaker 4: the team that we beat at the end of the year.
- 23:08Speaker 4: But no, no MNFL. Those guys are baller two. Garrett Wilson,
- 23:12Speaker 4: you're a good player, sas okay.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Blah blah blah whatever.
- 23:14Speaker 4: I'm just putting on for my guy, ken Walker because
- 23:16Speaker 4: I thought he should have got offensive Rookie in the year. Now,
- 23:19Speaker 4: what's gonna be cool about this season is you're gonna
- 23:21Speaker 4: pair Ken Walker or Zach Sharbonne second round pick, great
- 23:23Speaker 4: player out.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I played under Chip Kelly.
- 23:26Speaker 4: And I'm really interested toe how those those Carris are
- 23:28Speaker 4: getting get divvied up. You know, ken Walker is a
- 23:30Speaker 4: volume guy. I feel like he needs at least fifteen
- 23:32Speaker 4: or so. But sharber Day runs aggressive man. He runs aggressively.
- 23:36Speaker 4: He can catch the rock out of the backfield. He
- 23:38Speaker 4: can do a lot of things, so he'll definitely be
- 23:39Speaker 4: pushing Ken for snaps. So I'm really excited to see that.
- 23:42Speaker 4: And one cool stat I found ou as I was
- 23:44Speaker 4: going through some of the statbucks.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Here is the Rams last year.
- 23:47Speaker 4: You know, they a lot of things went wrong, but
- 23:49Speaker 4: they're actually pretty good against the run. They only gave
- 23:51Speaker 4: up two hundred yard rushers all of last season, Austin
- 23:54Speaker 4: Eckler and the other Ken Walker, Ken Walker the third.
- 23:58Speaker 4: So and here's the other thing, bump is Bobby Wagner
- 24:01Speaker 4: is playing on the right team this year.
- 24:02Speaker 3: So that's a guy you don't got to worry about.
- 24:03Speaker 3: You said you don't got to worry.
- 24:04Speaker 4: About Leonard Floyd, don't get worried about none of them,
- 24:06Speaker 4: which is great, but bum but I think there is
- 24:09Speaker 4: one dude that the Seahawks do you have.
- 24:10Speaker 3: To worry about. Who's that?
- 24:12Speaker 5: Not just the Hawks, everybody in the league gotta worry
- 24:14Speaker 5: about this dude.
- 24:15Speaker 6: And Aaron Donald, one of the most dominant football players
- 24:19Speaker 6: in our lifetime and in football history. Man, he missed
- 24:23Speaker 6: a lot of games last year, only played in two
- 24:25Speaker 6: regular season games.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Only missed two regular season before that.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Ye, Aaron Donald, Man, I only missed two regular season
- 24:34Speaker 6: games before last year. I was back in twenty seventeen.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Donald played in eleven games. In twenty two. He had
- 24:39Speaker 6: forty nine tackles, five sacks, ten TFLs, and eleven quarterback hits.
- 24:43Speaker 6: And guess what, still voted to the Pro Bowl because
- 24:46Speaker 6: my man got a resume and people know when he's healthy,
- 24:48Speaker 6: he is dominant as heck man. Twenty twenty two was
- 24:51Speaker 6: the first season he had less than ten sacks from
- 24:55Speaker 6: the de tackle position, from the interior lineman he gets
- 24:59Speaker 6: sacks is so crazy to me.
- 25:01Speaker 5: That's why Chris Jones wants is Monday.
- 25:03Speaker 6: That's why all these and terror lineman once they hit
- 25:05Speaker 6: double digit sacks are like, look, you know it's hard
- 25:07Speaker 6: for us, all right, We're gonna have to go get it.
- 25:09Speaker 6: But uh, he's a man just like everybody else. He
- 25:13Speaker 6: has his bad snaps, he has his bad days. He's
- 25:15Speaker 6: not gonna be perfect, but you know you have to
- 25:17Speaker 6: know where he is on the football field at all times.
- 25:19Speaker 6: Not gonna be hard to find him. Look at the
- 25:21Speaker 6: one tech or the three tech. He'll be right there.
- 25:24Speaker 6: I'm looking at Evan Brown. I'm looking at the guards
- 25:26Speaker 6: and I'm saying, all right, man, help out when you can.
- 25:29Speaker 6: You get that double team on those zone plays, Let's
- 25:31Speaker 6: do it. Let's run trapped towards him so we can
- 25:34Speaker 6: kind of wash him out.
- 25:34Speaker 5: Of these things. Easier said than done.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Not looking forward to seeing Aaron down on the football field,
- 25:40Speaker 6: but you respect the man and what he's done in
- 25:42Speaker 6: this league.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Oh no question about it. He is the start start
- 25:46Speaker 4: to finish your career. He's got to be, you know,
- 25:49Speaker 4: other than some of the guys in the Legion to Boom,
- 25:51Speaker 4: the best football player that I think I've ever seen, defectively.
- 25:54Speaker 4: I mean he is. He is that good. And yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 4: he's getting older all that to talk about retirement. I
- 25:58Speaker 4: was hoping he's retired. He still hasn't done that. But
- 26:00Speaker 4: I like where everon Brown's at, I like he's kind
- 26:03Speaker 4: of he's bigger than Austoin b Life, you know, I
- 26:05Speaker 4: feel like he's more suited for that matchup. So we
- 26:08Speaker 4: will definitely see flipping the other side for the running
- 26:11Speaker 4: backs for the Rams cam Akers against that Seahawk front seven.
- 26:15Speaker 4: We know the Seahawks struggled to stop the run last year.
- 26:17Speaker 4: That was the achilles heel, their thirtieth in the league,
- 26:19Speaker 4: giving up one hundred and fifty yards per game. That's
- 26:21Speaker 4: why you bring in a Draymond Jones. That's where you
- 26:23Speaker 4: bring in a Jaren Rey, and that's why you bring
- 26:25Speaker 4: back a Bobby Wagner. In fact, they're gonna play huge
- 26:27Speaker 4: roles in that because they're those good at football players.
- 26:30Speaker 4: You know they fit this system. They're gonna stuff They're
- 26:32Speaker 4: not only are they gonna stop the run, they helped
- 26:33Speaker 4: get after the passer. I think it's gonna help from
- 26:35Speaker 4: the entire all levels of that defense. Now cam Akers
- 26:39Speaker 4: can play. He's kind of had an up and.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Down career with the Rams.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Twenty twenty second round pick, plays decently, misses all of
- 26:45Speaker 4: twenty one the regular season of the Super Bowl year
- 26:48Speaker 4: with an achilles injury. Comes back to the playoff run,
- 26:51Speaker 4: and then last year he was the starter, then randomly
- 26:53Speaker 4: he wasn't, then he got benched, and then he was
- 26:55Speaker 4: gonna get traded, then he wasn't traded, then he was
- 26:57Speaker 4: back in the starting lineup, and then played really well
- 26:59Speaker 4: at the end the year. Had three hundred yard games
- 27:01Speaker 4: in a row, three touchdowns, three hundred and forty five yards,
- 27:04Speaker 4: so he can play. He's gonna get a majority of
- 27:06Speaker 4: the carries, bump. But if he's going off, we're gonna
- 27:09Speaker 4: have a long day because Cam Akers. I'm hoping he
- 27:12Speaker 4: gets held to about fifty yards on twenty carries because
- 27:16Speaker 4: you know, they're gonna try to run the rock. They're
- 27:18Speaker 4: gonna see they're gonna test the Seahawfs defense see if
- 27:20Speaker 4: they've improved as much as we think they have. So
- 27:23Speaker 4: I definitely think there's gonna be big improvement there. But
- 27:25Speaker 4: Cam Akers is a guy that cannot have a big day,
- 27:27Speaker 4: otherwise it might be a long one for the Seahawks.
- 27:30Speaker 6: Here's the bad thing about Cam Akers. I drafted him
- 27:32Speaker 6: my fantasy football team. Here's a good news. He's sting
- 27:35Speaker 6: on the bench that first week. I also already did
- 27:37Speaker 6: he ain't gonna play against the Seahawks, and his relationship
- 27:40Speaker 6: with the Rams is complicated, right you mentioned up he's down,
- 27:43Speaker 6: he's healthy, he's not. But when he is healthy, he
- 27:46Speaker 6: can play some good football. So a gang tackle, get
- 27:50Speaker 6: to the football, do what you gotta do. Draymond Jones,
- 27:52Speaker 6: Jay Reed, Bobby, come on, let's go. Let let's make
- 27:54Speaker 6: some tackles.
- 27:55Speaker 5: All right, we're going over to our guys.
- 27:58Speaker 6: In my opinion, probably the second getting best receiving corps
- 28:01Speaker 6: in this league. Only team I put in front of
- 28:03Speaker 6: him are the Bengals, just because we've seen it and
- 28:05Speaker 6: it's proven. I think by the end of this year,
- 28:07Speaker 6: this could be the best receiving trio in the league.
- 28:10Speaker 6: I'm talking DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and JS and going
- 28:14Speaker 6: against the Rams secondary, the Rams secondary which has no
- 28:18Speaker 6: more Jay than Ramsey, So we're good for that. Metcalf
- 28:21Speaker 6: in twenty twenty two to ninety receptions, one thousand and
- 28:23Speaker 6: forty eight yards and six touchdowns. Lockett in twenty twenty
- 28:26Speaker 6: two eighty four receptions, his fourth consecutive thousand yard season
- 28:30Speaker 6: in nine touchdowns. Now he became the second player in
- 28:33Speaker 6: franchise history to do that for consecutive thousand yards.
- 28:36Speaker 5: That's behind Hall of Famer Steve Largen.
- 28:39Speaker 6: You know, if you don't ever mention Steve Largen as
- 28:42Speaker 6: one of the great receivers in the NFL, when you
- 28:44Speaker 6: talk to people around here, they will come after you.
- 28:46Speaker 5: It's happened to me before I apologize Steve Largen. I
- 28:48Speaker 5: will never do that again.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Lockett moved into third place on sales all time reception
- 28:52Speaker 6: list with five hundred and thirty three receiving yards list
- 28:55Speaker 6: with seven thousand, one hundred moves into second place on
- 28:59Speaker 6: this receiving touchdowns with fifty four dk Metcalf became the
- 29:02Speaker 6: fifth player NFL history with at least three hundred receptions
- 29:05Speaker 6: and four thousand yards and thirty five receiving touchdowns in
- 29:09Speaker 6: its first four seasons. Here's the company he's in. Odell
- 29:12Speaker 6: Beckham did that. AJ Green did that. Randy Moss did that.
- 29:16Speaker 6: Andre Risen all ballers in this league said a single
- 29:20Speaker 6: season career high last year with ninety receptions, third most
- 29:22Speaker 6: in franchise history, and he posted his second career thousand
- 29:25Speaker 6: yard season and moved us into first place for the
- 29:28Speaker 6: most receiving yards to the players first four seasons in
- 29:30Speaker 6: franchise history with four two hundred and eighteen. This is
- 29:34Speaker 6: a guy that people were doubting at the beginning of
- 29:36Speaker 6: his career.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Too.
- 29:36Speaker 5: He can only run a post, he can only run
- 29:38Speaker 5: a go.
- 29:39Speaker 6: This injury was something to be concerned about, but he
- 29:43Speaker 6: has done nothing but ball out and then the new
- 29:46Speaker 6: guy on the block, Jackson Smith and Jigbob in twenty
- 29:49Speaker 6: twenty two, he only played in three games nursing that hamstring.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Twenty twenty one ninety five receptions, sixteen hundred yards, nine touchdowns.
- 29:56Speaker 6: We all remember his Rose Bowl performance. He was the
- 30:00Speaker 6: player on that field. He made it look easy. He
- 30:03Speaker 6: was an All American, All third team Big ten. I mean,
- 30:06Speaker 6: the accolades are crazy with this guy. But once you
- 30:09Speaker 6: put eyes on him and you see what he can do,
- 30:12Speaker 6: you understand why he got all these accolades and how
- 30:14Speaker 6: he's gonna help this football team.
- 30:16Speaker 3: It's it's unbelievable.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Was from the first day he went almost the entire
- 30:19Speaker 4: training camp without dropping a ball. That any not just like, okay,
- 30:24Speaker 4: from start to finish, your practice doesn't matter if it
- 30:26Speaker 4: was individual, seven on seven, team, whatever it was, if
- 30:31Speaker 4: he was targeted, he did not drop a ball. He
- 30:33Speaker 4: went almost the entire camp.
- 30:34Speaker 3: And that's so.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I mean, that's why I said at the beginning, man,
- 30:36Speaker 4: I think Jayson is going to put up some ridiculous
- 30:38Speaker 4: numbers because he is about that life. But you know,
- 30:42Speaker 4: I bump, I feel like this whole team is about
- 30:44Speaker 4: that life.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Right now.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Okay, now, old teams about that life, let me tell
- 30:48Speaker 4: you how they're gonna get a win on Sunday.
- 30:51Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the snat, Michael Dixon puts
- 30:55Speaker 2: it down.
- 30:55Speaker 3: That kick is away.
- 30:56Speaker 2: If that kick is good, say off, bitch gun, it's
- 31:01Speaker 2: a pens to victory on Hawk Talk Bump.
- 31:05Speaker 4: This game is about the Seahawks, man, I think they're
- 31:07Speaker 4: the better football team on paper.
- 31:09Speaker 3: I think they're the better roster.
- 31:10Speaker 4: I think when you look at all the differences, the
- 31:12Speaker 4: Seahawks have a better they're better team.
- 31:14Speaker 3: It just comes down to execution.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Whether the Seahawks be able to do that on Sunday
- 31:17Speaker 4: with all the moving pieces, all the different stuff on there,
- 31:20Speaker 4: can they execute? And that starts defensively. Can you stop
- 31:23Speaker 4: the run? Prove you made the change you made on
- 31:25Speaker 4: this defensive line will have meatia results. Be physical. I
- 31:28Speaker 4: said it earlier. Kmakers can have a big day, man,
- 31:31Speaker 4: I definitely they got to stop the run, be physical,
- 31:33Speaker 4: show people who you.
- 31:34Speaker 6: Are, and you have to get after the veteran, the
- 31:38Speaker 6: guy who's been there, who's done that. That is Matthew Stafford.
- 31:41Speaker 6: You can't make him feel comfy in that pocket man.
- 31:43Speaker 6: Make them move around. He's not the most mobile. He's
- 31:45Speaker 6: mobile enough to get things done. But get after him.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I need Derek Hall, I need China, I need dt
- 31:50Speaker 6: I need Boy. All you guys get after this dude
- 31:53Speaker 6: and offensively.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Man.
- 31:54Speaker 6: Put all the talent on display. Let them see all
- 31:57Speaker 6: the weapons you have. You got three receivers plus a
- 32:00Speaker 6: who wasn't supposed to make the team who can ball out.
- 32:02Speaker 6: You got four running backs back there who can get
- 32:04Speaker 6: it done. And then my man, Gino, go be yourself,
- 32:08Speaker 6: don't worry about anything that's happening around you.
- 32:10Speaker 5: And I think he's already doing that.
- 32:11Speaker 6: I listened to him talking these these podcasts and press conferences.
- 32:15Speaker 6: This is the most confident and genuine quarterback I've seen
- 32:19Speaker 6: put on a Seahawk uniform. And I think because he
- 32:22Speaker 6: has this approach, he's gonna do some great things this year, no.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Question about it.
- 32:26Speaker 4: I think Gino, you mentioned that's like a great description
- 32:29Speaker 4: in Geno because when you hear him talkers like damn okay,
- 32:32Speaker 4: he makes you think you go damn, Like you have perspective,
- 32:34Speaker 4: you have depth, like I strive to be you one day.
- 32:37Speaker 4: That's every time I hear him talk, That's what I
- 32:39Speaker 4: think about.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Man.
- 32:40Speaker 5: He's been through the struggle.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Man, he knows he's been through.
- 32:43Speaker 4: He's been through the wars, and now he's coming out
- 32:44Speaker 4: the other side helping the Sea out team. I'll bet
- 32:46Speaker 4: take care of football, run the ball, be physical, give
- 32:49Speaker 4: the twelve something they can be excited about. The home
- 32:51Speaker 4: opener kickoff weekend. Football is back in the Pacific Northwest
- 32:55Speaker 4: and it counts now. Reminder, guys, we are back now,
- 32:58Speaker 4: will be with you all season. You can hear some
- 33:00Speaker 4: dot Com, Apple Podcast, Spotify, sit your series XM, and more. Also,
- 33:04Speaker 4: if you're peering around Seahawks dot com, beware for the
- 33:07Speaker 4: Super Bowl forty eight documentary looking back at that Super
- 33:11Speaker 4: Bowl team. If you haven't seen the trailer, Door Seas
- 33:13Speaker 4: dot Com, wet'll get you fired up. A lot of
- 33:15Speaker 4: good work by the video production team on there. But
- 33:18Speaker 4: bump this has been fun. I'm happy to be back
- 33:19Speaker 4: with you. We'll be back with you next week, hopefully
- 33:22Speaker 4: on Monday, talking about a Seahawks victory.
- 33:24Speaker 3: He's Michael Bumpus on Nasachobe. This has been Hawk talk.
