  Speaker 1: Welcome.
• 0:01
Speaker 2: It is Verdict with Center, Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you.
• 0:04
Speaker 2: It's so nice to have you with us if you're
• 0:05
Speaker 2: listening on the radio around the country. We've got a
• 0:07
Speaker 2: lot to cover in the show and Center. Let's start
• 0:10
Speaker 2: with the big story first, the airport chaos in theory
• 0:15
Speaker 2: could be coming to an end. Is President Trump signs
• 0:18
Speaker 2: an order an emergency declaration to pay the TSA agents.
• 0:24
Speaker 3: Well, it is fantastic news. The TSA agents are going
• 0:27
Speaker 3: to be paid. We should see the chaos at the
• 0:29
Speaker 3: airport subside. I hope it subsides very quickly. As you
• 0:33
Speaker 3: and I are recording this podcast. It is right now
• 0:36
Speaker 3: two twenty three in the morning, DC time, late Thursday night,
• 0:40
  Speaker 3: early Friday nighting.
• 0:42
Speaker 4: And the amazing thing.
• 0:43
Speaker 2: Let's just say that time again. This is your commitment,
• 0:45
Speaker 2: by the way to the show. Let's say that time again.
• 0:48
Speaker 2: This is a new record for us.
• 0:49
Speaker 3: It is two twenty three in the morning, DC time. No,
• 0:52
Speaker 3: it's two twenty four DC time, late Thursday night, early
• 0:58
Speaker 3: Friday morning. And at this point I'm having to timestamp
• 1:01
Speaker 3: this is We still do not know for certain what
• 1:04
Speaker 3: the final resolution that this is going to be. We
• 1:06
Speaker 3: think we know, but it could change. So right now,
• 1:12
Speaker 3: the entire day they've been trying to negotiate a deal
• 1:15
Speaker 3: with the Democrats, and the Democrats have repeatedly moved the goalposts.
• 1:21
Speaker 3: And I will say where we ended up is actually
• 1:24
Speaker 3: where I urged the Republican conference to be two weeks ago.
• 1:29
Speaker 3: Two weeks ago, I stood up and I told my colleagues,
• 1:31
Speaker 3: I said, And I talked about this on the podcast
• 1:33
Speaker 3: as well, but I stood up and told my colleagues.
• 1:35
Speaker 3: I said, listen, our Democrat colleagues are nuts. They have
• 1:41
Speaker 3: lost their mind. They are captured by the radical left
• 1:45
Speaker 3: wing in their base, and they are simply open border
• 1:49
Speaker 3: radicals who hate Donald Trump.
• 1:51
Speaker 4: Now what does that mean? At that point, we'd had a.
• 1:54
Speaker 3: Shutdown of DHS for a couple of weeks. We'd had
• 1:56
Speaker 3: TSA agents who hadn't been paid, host guardsmen who hadn't
• 2:01
Speaker 3: been paid, Secret Service officers who hadn't been paid, FEMA
• 2:04
Speaker 3: officials who hadn't been paid, over two hundred thousand federal
• 2:07
Speaker 3: workers at DHS who were not being paid. And what
• 2:10
Speaker 3: I told my Republican colleagues is I said, I think
• 2:13
Speaker 3: if it's up to the Democrats, they'll leave everything shut
• 2:17
Speaker 3: down forever. They'll literally for the rest of the year.
• 2:21
Speaker 3: They'll be fine, never opening the Department of Homeland Security,
• 2:25
Speaker 3: didn't that? Now start with a basic point, yeah and centator.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: Before you get to that, I want to take a moment.
• 2:29
Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about an awesome company.
• 2:31
Speaker 2: It is called Rough Greens, and if you have a dog,
• 2:35
Speaker 2: you are gonna love Rough Greens. The Ferguson family got
• 2:39
Speaker 2: bigger with a new puppy, and I can tell you
• 2:42
Speaker 2: having one dog that is over a decade old and
• 2:45
Speaker 2: a new dog that's just months old, there's one thing
• 2:48
Speaker 2: they both have in common. I want them to live
• 2:51
Speaker 2: a great quality life. And that is exactly why I
• 2:54
Speaker 2: give them Rough Greens. Now, I've been telling you about
• 2:57
Speaker 2: my older dog and some of this symptoms that he
• 3:00
Speaker 2: was having, slowing down and itching and having bad breath,
• 3:04
Speaker 2: losing interest in playtime. That is just part of the
• 3:08
Speaker 2: aging process, but it doesn't have to be. And after
• 3:11
Speaker 2: just a few weeks of Rough Greens we start to
• 3:13
Speaker 2: see a real difference. This stuff is truly amazing, and
• 3:17
Speaker 2: if you have a dog you love, you've got to
• 3:20
Speaker 2: try Rough Greens for your dog for life. It not
• 3:23
Speaker 2: only supports long term health by providing live, bioavailable nutrients
• 3:28
Speaker 2: including essential vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and didjestive enzymes, as well
• 3:33
Speaker 2: as omega oils. The ingredients work together to improve nutrition
• 3:37
Speaker 2: absorption and maintain joint and muscle health and enhance overall
• 3:41
Speaker 2: vitality and you can witness it happen over weeks. So
• 3:45
Speaker 2: if you love your dog and you are ready to
• 3:48
Speaker 2: get your dog back to the way maybe he used
• 3:50
Speaker 2: to be and was more playful, then check out rough Greens.
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: It's so easy.
• 3:55

• 4:34
Speaker 2: All right, Sata, So let's get back to those core
• 4:36
Speaker 2: points that you were about to mention.
• 4:38
Speaker 3: Well, Number one, we have had four major terroris attacks
• 4:42
Speaker 3: in the last three weeks, all four by radical Islamic terrorists.
• 4:47
Speaker 3: The Department of Homeland Security exists to prevent terror attacks.
• 4:52
Speaker 3: There's obviously military conflict in the in the Middle East,
• 4:56
Speaker 3: the terror thread is heightened. And yet every Demo but one,
• 5:01
Speaker 3: every Democrat but John Fetterman, has voted now eight times
• 5:05
Speaker 3: to defund the entire Department of Homeland Security. The purpose
• 5:08
Speaker 3: of the Department Homeland Security DHS was created in the
• 5:13
Speaker 3: wake of nine to eleven to prepare for and prevent
• 5:18
Speaker 3: terror attacks, and I think the Democrats would have left
• 5:21
Speaker 3: it shut the entire year. They don't care. It was
• 5:25
Speaker 3: the most reckless, irresponsible action we've ever seen. You look
• 5:30
Speaker 3: at what was happening at the airports. The chaos at
• 5:32
Speaker 3: the airports was out of control. And here's what I
• 5:35
Speaker 3: told my colleagues. I said, in my view, the Democrats
• 5:40
Speaker 3: in the Senate will never ever vote to fund ICE again.
• 5:44
Speaker 3: They've just lost their minds. They are an open border party,
• 5:47
Speaker 3: so they are willing to defund the border patrol and
• 5:49
Speaker 3: defund ICE, and that's who they are. And I said,
• 5:52
Speaker 3: there's not going to be any wearing them down on
• 5:54
Speaker 3: this because they're going to be that today, they're going
• 5:57
Speaker 3: to be that next week, they're going to be that
• 5:58
Speaker 3: next month, they're going to be that next year. That
• 6:01
Speaker 3: is where the Democrats are. They've gone to crazytown. And
• 6:06
Speaker 3: so I told my colleagues, here's what we should do.
• 6:08
Speaker 3: We should fund as much of DHS as the Democrats
• 6:11
Speaker 3: are willing to do, and that probably is going to
• 6:13
Speaker 3: mean pulling out ICE and maybe CBP customers.
• 6:16
  Speaker 4: And border patrol.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: So we should fund it. We should fund TSA, we
• 6:21
Speaker 3: should open up the airports, we should end the chaos. Now,
• 6:25
Speaker 3: the immediate response to that will be the Democrats have
• 6:28
Speaker 3: succeeded in defunding ICE. Well, no they haven't, because we're
• 6:31
Speaker 3: the majority, damn it. So let's act like it the instant.
• 6:34
Speaker 3: We do that, and we do that, we turn on
• 6:36
Speaker 3: the lights on DHS, we get TSA agents paid again,
• 6:41
Speaker 3: we start a reconciliation process. Now, as regular listeners of
• 6:45
Speaker 3: this pod, no, reconciliation is the major exception to the
• 6:49
Speaker 3: filibuster rule. And to ordinarily fund government you need sixty votes,
• 6:55
Speaker 3: which means we need seven Democrats. That's how Democrats have
• 6:58
Speaker 3: been able to force this shut down.
• 7:00
Speaker 4: For forty two days.
• 7:02
Speaker 3: However, reconciliation you only need fifty votes. And what I
• 7:06
Speaker 3: argue to my colleagues, we had to take up reconciliation
• 7:09
Speaker 3: and we ought to fund ICE and CBP, and I said, listen,
• 7:14
Speaker 3: I don't think the Democrats will ever again fund ICE,
• 7:18
Speaker 3: so in my view, we should fund them for ten years.
• 7:20
Speaker 3: Ten years is the maximum budget window that you can
• 7:22
Speaker 3: do under reconciliation. I said, let's put ten years of
• 7:25
Speaker 3: funding in place right now, because these lunatics would say,
• 7:29
Speaker 3: we're not arresting murderers anymore. We're not arresting gang bangers
• 7:32
Speaker 3: or child rapists anymore. That's where their party is. And
• 7:36
Speaker 3: then I said, we also need need to show them
• 7:40
Speaker 3: that their obstructionism, their political terrorism, doesn't yield rewards. So
• 7:46
Speaker 3: Elizabeth Warren, I'm sure, is going to be running out
• 7:49
Speaker 3: crowing that she succeeded in defunding ICE. So what I've
• 7:53
Speaker 3: argued to my colleagues on reconciliation, we need up the
• 7:57
Speaker 3: ice bot budget. What I suggested is increase it by
• 7:59
Speaker 3: ten percent so that we can say to Elizabeth Warren
• 8:02
Speaker 3: and the other craziest congratulations, your entire temper tantrum here's
• 8:07
Speaker 3: what you accomplished. You increase the funding for ice by
• 8:10
Speaker 3: ten percent, and we now have ten years of funding
• 8:12
Speaker 3: locked in at this point, at now two thirty in
• 8:16
Speaker 3: the morning, it appears that's exactly what we're doing. There
• 8:20
Speaker 3: is a proposal that's circulating. It hasn't yet passed, but
• 8:23
Speaker 3: it's expected to pass any moment that we'll do exactly
• 8:27
Speaker 3: that fund all of DHS except for ICE and much
• 8:31
Speaker 3: of CBP. That's what I suggested two weeks ago. We're
• 8:34
Speaker 3: going to break down more of it in just a minute.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: One of the worst in the country center has been
• 8:39
Speaker 2: the airport. You and I fla out of all the time.
• 8:41
Speaker 2: I actually drove because I knew it was going to
• 8:44
Speaker 2: be faster than waiting in that line to head to
• 8:48
Speaker 2: see pack. You actually drove today somewhere far away because
• 8:52
Speaker 2: it was easier than dealing with the airports. I'm assuming
• 8:54
Speaker 2: that's why you did it as well. And thank goodness,
• 8:57
Speaker 2: now nearly five hundred TIS agents they had already quit
• 9:01
Speaker 2: because they weren't being paid. That number was going to
• 9:03
Speaker 2: get a lot higher if the President didn't act and
• 9:05
Speaker 2: do what he just did.
• 9:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, look that's right.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: Bush Airport in Houston had the worst delays in the country.
• 9:11
Speaker 3: Bush and the Atlanta Airport were the two worst. At BUSH,
• 9:16
Speaker 3: they were reporting call out rates for TSA agents of
• 9:19
Speaker 3: forty percent and the lines were four four and a
• 9:22
Speaker 3: half hours. Actually, my youngest daughter, Catherine was at Bush.
• 9:26
Speaker 3: She was supposed to fly out to visit a friend.
• 9:28
Speaker 3: It was over four hours in the line. She ended
• 9:30
Speaker 3: up missing her flight and so she's going to try
• 9:32
Speaker 3: to fly out again tomorrow. But she ended up not
• 9:35
Speaker 3: getting out to see her friend and have a few
• 9:38
Speaker 3: days hanging out with a good friend of hers. Look,
• 9:42
Speaker 3: it was madness, but I will tell you, you know, this
• 9:45
Speaker 3: is one of the things about doing this real time.
• 9:47
Speaker 3: So it is now two thirty three in the morning,
• 9:50
Speaker 3: and what has happened since this podcast started recording?
• 9:53
Speaker 4: You know what's happened?
• 9:54
Speaker 3: What's that the Senate just passed the funding. So I said,
• 9:57
Speaker 3: I didn't know if we were going to fund it,
• 9:58
Speaker 3: that it was circulating. What after we started the podcast?
• 10:02
Speaker 3: The Senate passed it. They passed it by voice vote,
• 10:06
Speaker 3: so that means there was one or two senators on
• 10:09
Speaker 3: the floor by voice vote. Most of the senators have
• 10:12
Speaker 3: gone to sleep, and so what it meant is nobody objected.
• 10:16
Speaker 3: That means the funding is now out of the Senate.
• 10:19
Speaker 3: It will go to the House. The House will take
• 10:20
Speaker 3: it up and pass it. But it means we're going
• 10:23
Speaker 3: to end up having Coast Guard getting their paychecks. We're
• 10:27
Speaker 3: going to end up having FEMA getting their paychecks. We're
• 10:29
Speaker 3: gonna end up having DHS getting their paychecks. We're going
• 10:31
Speaker 3: to end up having Secret Service getting their paychecks. So
• 10:36
Speaker 3: that's good. That funding is good. Now here's what the
• 10:39
Speaker 3: Democrats insisted upon. It's actually amazing because a few days ago,
• 10:44
  Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer.
• 10:44
  Speaker 4: Went on TV.
• 10:45
Speaker 3: He went on Joe Scarber, and he said the Democrats
• 10:48
Speaker 3: were willing to fund everything.
• 10:52
Speaker 4: Except for ICE er O. Now what does that mean.
• 10:56
Speaker 3: ICE is Immigration and Customs Enforcement and are the agents
• 11:01
Speaker 3: that go and find illegal aliens and arrest them and
• 11:05
Speaker 3: deport them. And so that's about half of ICE, ICE's budget.
• 11:09
Speaker 3: And so Schumer said, if we agreed to fund everything
• 11:12
Speaker 3: but e ro O at ICE, the Democrats would be fine.
• 11:16
Speaker 3: We ended up President Trump agreed to that deal, and
• 11:20
Speaker 3: then Schumer and the Democrats all backed out and said no, no,
• 11:22
Speaker 3: never mind, we didn't mean it. We understand we offered
• 11:24
Speaker 3: that deal, we lied we can't do it, which delayed
• 11:28
Speaker 3: things for several days because they just backed out of
• 11:30
  Speaker 3: the deal.
• 11:30
  Speaker 4: They had.
• 11:32
Speaker 3: What they insisted upon. What just passed it pasted is
• 11:36
Speaker 3: ICE is entirely defunded. So there's zero funding for ICE. Now,
• 11:39
Speaker 3: the good news is ICE is not in fact defunded,
• 11:42
Speaker 3: because when we passed the Reconciliation Bill last year, we
• 11:46
Speaker 3: plussed up a ton of funding for ICE. We funded
• 11:49
Speaker 3: ICE for the next three years because we anticipated that
• 11:52
Speaker 3: the Democrats were going to be extreme and radical, and
• 11:56
Speaker 3: so ICE is going to get. The irony is during
• 11:58
Speaker 3: this shutdown, ICE was funded the whole time. The Democrats
• 12:02
Speaker 3: were hurting everybody else because they were mad about ICE.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: So but what just passed has zero funding for ICE,
• 12:09
Speaker 3: which means not only do they insist they weren't going
• 12:12
Speaker 3: to going to put funding for RO, they also didn't
• 12:16
Speaker 3: put funding for Homeland Security Investigations HSI.
• 12:20
Speaker 4: HSI, do you know what the responsibility of HSI is?
• 12:23
  Speaker 1: What's that?
• 12:25
Speaker 3: Investigating transnational crime, terrorism, human trafficking, smuggling, cybercrime, financial fraud,
• 12:34
Speaker 3: child exploitation. That's what HSI does. It's like out catching terrorists.
• 12:41
Speaker 3: And every Democrat said we will not vote to fund
• 12:45
Speaker 3: the folks catching terrorists and catching human traffickers. That's where
• 12:49
Speaker 3: the Democrats are. And then on customs and border patrol,
• 12:53
Speaker 3: they insisted that the funding be reduced about six billion
• 12:56
Speaker 3: dollars reduced from seventeen point seven billion to eleven billion.
• 13:02
Speaker 3: So those were their demands. They ended up getting their demands,
• 13:07
Speaker 3: but it is the most short term pyrrhic victory because
• 13:10
Speaker 3: we're going to do a reconciliation. Takes about six weeks
• 13:12
Speaker 3: to do a reconciliation, so it's not an immediate process
• 13:16
Speaker 3: because you've got to have the House has to pass
• 13:17
Speaker 3: a budget resolution, the Senate has to pass a budget resolution.
• 13:21
Speaker 3: But we will get it done, and I believe what
• 13:25
Speaker 3: will happen is we'll pass a ten year budget that
• 13:28
Speaker 3: pluses up both of them. And I will say it
• 13:31
Speaker 3: was exactly what I had urged two weeks ago. Is
• 13:33
Speaker 3: where we ended up. Right now, now, I will tell you,
• 13:36
Speaker 3: let's go back to what you said a minute ago,
• 13:38
Speaker 3: which is the President signed the order saying he was
• 13:41
Speaker 3: going to fund TSA. Do you know why he did
• 13:45
Speaker 3: so and why there was an urgency to do so tonight?
• 13:49
  Speaker 1: Why is that?
• 13:50
Speaker 3: Well, let me bring you in what was happening. So
• 13:53
Speaker 3: at lunch today on Thursday, the Democrats were saying they
• 13:57
Speaker 3: may cut a deal. So we had a vote at
• 13:59
Speaker 3: one third pm. That at our lunch we were like,
• 14:03
Speaker 3: the Democrats may vote yes, we may have a deal,
• 14:05
Speaker 3: and this might be done. It turned out we waited
• 14:08
Speaker 3: all afternoon and the Democrats just couldn't vote yes. They
• 14:11
Speaker 3: were not able to get.
• 14:13
  Speaker 4: To a vote.
• 14:14
Speaker 1: Shock. You're right, shot.
• 14:15
Speaker 3: And here's the problem. We'd been seeing wait times increase
• 14:19
Speaker 3: at airports all across the country. There were serious and
• 14:22
Speaker 3: credible threats from the TSA Union that tomorrow Friday, there
• 14:28
Speaker 3: was going to be a nationwide walkout, that all of
• 14:30
Speaker 3: the TSA agents were going to stay home. I don't
• 14:33
Speaker 3: know if that's right. I can tell you I talked
• 14:35
Speaker 3: to the airlines and they believed it was right. And
• 14:39
Speaker 3: if every TSA agent in the country stayed home on Friday,
• 14:43
  Speaker 3: every major airport.
• 14:44
Speaker 4: In America would shut down.
• 14:45
Speaker 3: And I will tell you I stood up to my
• 14:47
Speaker 3: colleagues and said, we're blithering idiots. If we let every
• 14:52
Speaker 3: major airport shut down, that would be a catastrophe. And
• 14:57
Speaker 3: in terms of understanding, look, one of the things we
• 14:59
Speaker 3: try to in verdict has take you inside how the
• 15:02
Speaker 3: sausage is made. I spent much of yesterday talking with
• 15:07
Speaker 3: senior White House officials and urging the President to do
• 15:10
Speaker 3: what he did today, urging the President to issue in
• 15:13
Speaker 3: order and say, I'm funding TSA. The Democrats are petulant
• 15:18
Speaker 3: children throwing a temper tantrum. You elected us to be
• 15:21
Speaker 3: the adults, and I'm being the adult. Every TSA agent
• 15:24
Speaker 3: is going to get his or her paycheck. They're back
• 15:27
Speaker 3: on the jobs. The airports are open, and the Democrats
• 15:30
Speaker 3: temper tantrum has failed. And this afternoon, as we didn't
• 15:33
Speaker 3: know if there's going to be a deal or not,
• 15:35
Speaker 3: that's exactly what the President did. I want to say,
• 15:38
Speaker 3: mister President, thank you, congratulations. It was the right thing
• 15:41
Speaker 3: to do. And today President Trump showed leadership while the
• 15:45
Speaker 3: Democrats showed complete recklessness and irresponsibility.
• 15:50
Speaker 2: A sacred season is approaching Passover when we remember God's deliverance,
• 15:55
Speaker 2: the night he brought his people out of bondage and
• 15:58
Speaker 2: into freedom. This year, many of God's people will observe
• 16:01
Speaker 2: in darkness under the shadow of war across Israel. Red

Speaker 2: And that's why the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews
• 16:36
Speaker 2: is on the ground in Israel right now. They're providing

• 17:23
Speaker 2: give an update on the latest of the Save Act
• 17:25
Speaker 2: and Chuck Schumer. The Democrats, they said they supported voter ID,
• 17:30
Speaker 2: but then they immediately balked you guys and your amendment
• 17:33
  Speaker 2: to require it.
• 17:34
Speaker 1: Welcome to Democrats. You know, do as I say, not
• 17:36
  Speaker 1: as I do.
• 17:38
Speaker 3: Well, that's exactly right. So I'm an original sponsor of
• 17:41
Speaker 3: the Save America Act. I've been helping lead the fight
• 17:43
Speaker 3: to pass the Save America Act. We should be passing it.
• 17:46
Speaker 3: The only way to get it passed is we need
• 17:49
Speaker 3: to stand together and force the Democrats to do a
• 17:53
Speaker 3: talking filibuster. Unfortunately, to do that, we need fifty Republicans
• 17:57
Speaker 3: who are willing to stand and fight and be all
• 17:59
Speaker 3: unified to get We don't have those votes right now.
• 18:01
Speaker 3: I have been making that case for weeks on ends
• 18:04
Speaker 3: to my colleagues. We're not there yet, and it is frustrating.
• 18:08
Speaker 3: By the way, we did a podcast two weeks ago
• 18:11
Speaker 3: we broke down the details of exactly how a talking
• 18:14
Speaker 3: filibuster would work, how using the existing Senate rules to
• 18:17
Speaker 3: force the Democrats to do like Jimmy Stewart and mister
• 18:20
Speaker 3: Smith goes to Washington to force the Democrats to do
• 18:23
Speaker 3: like I did when I filibustered for twenty one hours
• 18:26
Speaker 3: talking continuously against Obamacare in twenty thirteen.
• 18:31
Speaker 4: We have not done that yet, but I.
• 18:33
Speaker 3: Will say so. The Save America Act has two major elements.
• 18:38
Speaker 3: Number one, it requires people to show proof of American
• 18:42
Speaker 3: citizenship to register to vote, a basic common sense step.
• 18:46
Speaker 3: Number two, it requires photo ID to vote. Well, the
• 18:49
Speaker 3: Democrats defense that they really hate provision one showing proof
• 18:54
Speaker 3: of citizenship, and they argued, oh, some people can't do it.
• 18:57
Speaker 3: Some people can't do it. It's nonsense, but that's what
• 18:58
Speaker 3: they argued. And in the course of it, a whole
• 19:01
Speaker 3: lot of them said, we're okay with photo ID, which
• 19:05
Speaker 3: at some level is not surprising because photo ID. Eighty
• 19:09
Speaker 3: three percent of Americans support photo ID to vote, eighty
• 19:12
Speaker 3: one percent of Hispanic support photo ID to vote, eighty
• 19:15
Speaker 3: one percent of Democrats support photo ID to vote. Seventy
• 19:18
Speaker 3: five percent of African Americans support photo ID to vote.
• 19:21
Speaker 3: It's overwhelmingly popular. So the Democrats all said they supported it,
• 19:25
Speaker 3: but they didn't like the other elements of the Save Act.
• 19:28
Speaker 3: So one thing we did this week is we said, okay,
• 19:30
Speaker 3: we'll call your bluff and we put up just a
• 19:33
Speaker 3: very simple bill that required photo ID to vote. It's
• 19:36
Speaker 3: what they all said they supported. Now let me tell you.
• 19:39
Speaker 3: I want to read you some quotes from Democrats. Here's
• 19:43
Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer quote, Democrats support voter ID. Here's Chuck Schumer again.
• 19:50
Speaker 3: Our objection as Democrats is not to photo ID. Here's
• 19:55
Speaker 3: Dick Durbin quote. They say it's show of voter ID.
• 20:00
Speaker 3: I'm not opposed to that. They ask you for an
• 20:02
Speaker 3: ID at the airport, don't they? That's reasonable?
• 20:06
  Speaker 4: All right?
• 20:06
Speaker 3: Here's Caitlin Collins at CNN asking Cory Booker quote, if
• 20:11
Speaker 3: it was just a clean vote on voter ID specifically,
• 20:13
Speaker 3: is that something you would support?
• 20:15
  Speaker 4: Corey Booker? Yes.
• 20:17
Speaker 3: And New Jersey has voter ID laws. I've got to
• 20:19
Speaker 3: show my driver's license. Chris Coons, Democrat from Delaware quote,
• 20:25
Speaker 3: who could be against requiring ID to vote? Raphael Warnock,
• 20:29
Speaker 3: Democrat from Georgia quote, I think you should have to
• 20:33
Speaker 3: prove that you are who you say you are before
• 20:35
Speaker 3: you vote. I support voter ID. Alyssa Slotkin from Michigan
• 20:40
Speaker 3: quote voter ID, which hopefully all Americans are in agreement about.
• 20:45
Speaker 3: Kirsten Gillibrand from New York quote, the IDs that we
• 20:49
Speaker 3: all have in our wallets should be good enough to vote.
• 20:52
Speaker 4: They always have been.
• 20:53
Speaker 3: Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat from Rhode Island quote, well, the voter
• 20:57
Speaker 3: ID part is probably fine.
• 20:59
Speaker 4: We have voter ID here in Rhode Island.
• 21:01
Speaker 3: Reuben Gayego, Democrat from Arizona quote, if people want to
• 21:05
Speaker 3: adopt the Arizona way, which is strict voter ID, I.
• 21:08
Speaker 4: Think that would be fine.
• 21:10
Speaker 3: Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, both Democrats from Virginia. Quote,
• 21:15
Speaker 3: we support reasonable steps that help maintain trusts in our elections,
• 21:18
Speaker 3: including the voter identification requirements we already have in Virginia.
• 21:23
Speaker 3: Jack Read, Democrat from Rhode Island. Quote, if the polls
• 21:28
Speaker 3: simply required every American to show an idea at the polls,
• 21:33
Speaker 3: then I would not be ringing such a loud alarm.
• 21:35
Speaker 3: So that's what they all said. So Republicans said, all right,
• 21:38
Speaker 3: we'll call your bluff. And when we put a vote
• 21:40
Speaker 3: on just photo ID to vote, you know what happened.
• 21:45
Speaker 1: What happened? I know the answer, but it makes me laugh.
• 21:49
Speaker 3: Every single Democrat voted no, all of them.
• 21:56
Speaker 4: Every one of them.
• 21:57
Speaker 3: Everyone that I just read those quotes from that say
• 22:00
Speaker 3: oh I support voter ide. They all voted no. I
• 22:04
Speaker 3: mean it is a flat up It's just a flat
• 22:07
Speaker 3: up lie. And part of the reason, part of the
• 22:12
Speaker 3: reason that they do that is because they know the
• 22:15
Speaker 3: media won't call them on it.
• 22:17
Speaker 4: That they know that they.
• 22:19
Speaker 3: Can lie over and over and over again and there
• 22:24
Speaker 3: will be no consequences. Now, I will say an exception
• 22:26
Speaker 3: to that, So CBS News, David Ellison bought CBS News,
• 22:31
Speaker 3: and so now suddenly CBS News is owned by someone
• 22:35
Speaker 3: who says he has a commitment to making it balanced
• 22:37
Speaker 3: and not having it be a partisan left wing network.
• 22:40
Speaker 3: I'll tell you what CBS News tweeted out earlier today.
• 22:44
Speaker 3: Quote an amendment that would require voters to show photo
• 22:48
Speaker 3: identification to cast a ballot failed to advance in the
• 22:51
Speaker 3: Senate on Thursday, despite Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer saying
• 22:55
Speaker 3: last week that Democrats were not opposed to such a requirement.
• 23:00
Speaker 3: So CBS actually reported straight out. I actually had some
• 23:06
Speaker 3: fun with that and tweeted and said, you mean Schumer.
• 23:08
  Speaker 4: Lied, ha ha.
• 23:10
  Speaker 3: And there's a reason there, right, there's a reason you
• 23:12
Speaker 3: have a Pinocchio emoji, and I used it. But part
• 23:18
Speaker 3: of the reason they're willing to lie so brazenly is
• 23:22
Speaker 3: what CBS did there is the exception. CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC,
• 23:30
Speaker 3: they don't call them to account, The Washington Post, the
• 23:32
Speaker 3: New York Times, they don't call them to account. And
• 23:35
Speaker 3: so the Democrats all lie and then when you say, oh,
• 23:37
Speaker 3: you support that, do you all right, well, do you
• 23:39
Speaker 3: want to vote for it? They all say no. They
• 23:43
Speaker 3: get almost no accountability for doing so.
• 23:47
Speaker 1: It really is incredible.
• 23:48
Speaker 2: And look, I do think this is going to be
• 23:52
Speaker 2: very interesting going into the midterms, and I want to
• 23:55
Speaker 2: get your reaction to this, because I actually think the
• 23:58
Speaker 2: American people are paying attention and they were very frustrated
• 24:01
Speaker 2: by the Democrats constantly taking their life harder on these
• 24:05
Speaker 2: basic type issues, just like the airport. I think those
• 24:10
Speaker 2: are things when you combine these issues together, the Save Act,
• 24:14
Speaker 2: where its is overwhelming American support, like it's probably one
• 24:17
Speaker 2: of the most bipartisan things you're pulling right now in
• 24:20
Speaker 2: this country, if not the very top one, and yet
• 24:24
Speaker 2: you have this type of divide. I actually think this
• 24:27
Speaker 2: plays in the hands of Republicans if we do it
• 24:29
  Speaker 2: the right way.
• 24:29
Speaker 3: Your thoughts, Yeah, Look, I think that's right, And I
• 24:32
Speaker 3: think calling out Democrats for hypocrisy and lying and for
• 24:37
Speaker 3: just really aggressive pardon partisanship. You know, I will say
• 24:42
Speaker 3: there are people who say both sides are too extreme,
• 24:46
Speaker 3: and I gotta say that that feels very reasonable and
• 24:50
Speaker 3: even handed. Gosh, one side's too extreme.
• 24:53
  Speaker 4: So's the other. I just don't think it's accurate.
• 24:56
Speaker 3: If you look at where we are now, the policy
• 24:59
Speaker 3: position of the Democratic Party objectively are extreme. On immigration,
• 25:05
Speaker 3: They're an open border party. They just refuse to fund
• 25:08
Speaker 3: even a penny for immigration enforcement, and they slashed funding
• 25:15
Speaker 3: for customs and border patrol. They are an open border
• 25:18
Speaker 3: party that opposes arresting murderers and gang bangers and child rapists.
• 25:26
Speaker 3: On issues of sexuality, every Democrat, all of them, support
• 25:30
Speaker 3: boys and girls sports men and women's sports. They support
• 25:34
Speaker 3: sterilization and surgical mutilation of kids. Those are extreme positions.
• 25:41
Speaker 3: Those are on the ten side of ninety ten issues.
• 25:46
Speaker 3: They support abolishing the police. They all just voted to
• 25:49
Speaker 3: effectively abolish the police. And the immigration context, what are
• 25:53
Speaker 3: the Democrats? What are the Republicans supporting? Policy wise? The
• 25:57
Speaker 3: Republicans are supporting common sense principles, taxes, low regulations, lots
• 26:02
Speaker 3: and lots of jobs, small businesses doing well, securing the border,
• 26:06
Speaker 3: supporting law enforcement, protecting our families. Those are common sense position. Look,
• 26:11
Speaker 3: the Democrats on foreign policy are embrace Hamas. There is
• 26:16
Speaker 3: a real pro Hamas contingent in the Democrat Party that
• 26:19
Speaker 3: is objectively extreme, and so I think saying the two
• 26:23
Speaker 3: sides are kind of both too extreme, I don't think
• 26:26
Speaker 3: that describes where the policy debate is now. I will
• 26:28
Speaker 3: concede this. On the rhetoric, there is a fair point
• 26:33
Speaker 3: to be made that both sides can use overheated rhetoric.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: I think the Democrats do so routinely when they call Ice,
• 26:41
Speaker 3: for example, Nazis and Gestapo, and they call for dosing
• 26:45
Speaker 3: and going after the families of law enforcement officers. I mean,
• 26:48
Speaker 3: I think that's grotesque. But there are Republicans who use
• 26:53
Speaker 3: overheated rhetoric as well, and I wish they did not know.
• 26:57
Speaker 3: I get that question a lot as I travel around Texas,
• 26:59
Speaker 3: around the country, and I say, listen, I don't have
• 27:02
Speaker 3: the ability to change the language other people use.
• 27:05
Speaker 4: I can control what I say. You know, Ben, you
• 27:08
Speaker 4: and me and verdict.
• 27:09
Speaker 3: I try not to demonize people personally, but I do
• 27:13
Speaker 3: try to talk about policies and say it is an
• 27:16
Speaker 3: objectively unreasonable policy to support open borders and to just
• 27:20
Speaker 3: take away the paychecks of law enforcement officers forever. And
• 27:24
Speaker 3: that is the position of the Democrat Party. I think
• 27:27
Speaker 3: that's the way we ought to have political discussions on
• 27:29
Speaker 3: substance and merits, rather than making it personal.
• 27:32
Speaker 2: I want to be honest with you for a second
• 27:34
Speaker 2: about how an act of compassion really feels. A couple
• 27:38
Speaker 2: of years ago, I made the choice to partner with
• 27:41
Speaker 2: an amazing organization called Compassion International. Why because I wanted
• 27:46
Speaker 2: to sponsor a child in need. It was a nice idea, sure,
• 27:50
Speaker 2: but I had no idea just how much that simple
• 27:53
Speaker 2: act would change my life as well. I sponsored Nadiya
• 27:58
Speaker 2: and got to watch your life change right in front
• 28:00
Speaker 2: of my eyes, going from starving literally alone on the streets,
• 28:05
Speaker 2: to getting the healthcare and education she needs to reach
• 28:08
Speaker 2: her God given full potential. I got to be a
• 28:12
Speaker 2: part of that change, and the light of that compassion
• 28:15
Speaker 2: not only illuminates in her, it illuminates now in me.
• 28:19
Speaker 2: That is the power of compassion, the light of Christ
• 28:23
Speaker 2: shines on all of us. Feel it for yourself and
• 28:27
Speaker 2: change literally a child's life, change the world, and you
• 28:31
Speaker 2: also change yourself. You can sponsor child today. Visit compassion
• 28:36
Speaker 2: dot com. That's Compassion dot com.
• 28:40
  Speaker 1: Santa.
• 28:41
Speaker 2: I want to finish the show with a really important subject,
• 28:45
Speaker 2: and you've described it as bigger than Watergate. It's a
• 28:49
Speaker 2: modern day Watergate, certainly, but we now have a dive
• 28:53
Speaker 2: into the bombshell Senate Judiciary hearing on Arctic frost, and
• 28:58
Speaker 2: you had a great staateer and I want to play
• 29:01
  Speaker 2: it for everybody.
• 29:02
Speaker 1: This is how you kind of described what's happening.
• 29:05
Speaker 3: Watergate was about a handful of files in a single office.
• 29:09
Speaker 3: This reached into tens of thousands of private communications, emails, records,
• 29:14
Speaker 3: and personal data. Toll records, bank records, donor lists, law
• 29:20
Speaker 3: firm records, and other personal files relating to every major
• 29:25
  Speaker 3: conservative organization.
• 29:27
  Speaker 4: Were subpoena.
• 29:29
Speaker 1: That sums it up.
• 29:30
Speaker 2: This was a one hundred percent weaponization of our Department
• 29:35
Speaker 2: of Justice to go after Donald Trump and anyone they
• 29:37
Speaker 2: thought was important to him they could help him win
• 29:40
Speaker 2: the White House again.
• 29:42
Speaker 3: Well, that clip was from a hearing I chaired this
• 29:44
Speaker 3: week of the Senate Judiciary Committee that was examining Arctic
• 29:47
Speaker 3: frost and was releasing yet more documents that showed the
• 29:51
Speaker 3: massive scope of the abuse of power. Look Watergate at
• 29:56
Speaker 3: the end of the day was a handful of Cuban
• 29:58
Speaker 3: burglars who broke in into an office of the DNC,
• 30:01
Speaker 3: and it was a failed burglar that didn't even succeed,
• 30:04
Speaker 3: and it resulted in the President of the United States
• 30:06
Speaker 3: resigning in disgrace. It resulted in more than forty people
• 30:10
Speaker 3: being criminally prosecuted, many of them going to jail. By
• 30:14
Speaker 3: any measure, Arctic frost was orders of magnitude worse. You
• 30:19
Speaker 3: had nearly two hundred subpoenas. You had more than four
• 30:22
Speaker 3: hundred individuals and groups that were targeted. The Biden Department
• 30:26
Speaker 3: of Justice issued subpoenas to get the phone records for
• 30:29
Speaker 3: more than twenty percent of the Republicans in the Senate,
• 30:33
Speaker 3: including yours. Truly, it was a massive abuse of power.
• 30:40
Speaker 3: And the amazing thing is the Democrats don't care at all.
• 30:44
Speaker 3: And one of the points I made at the hearing,
• 30:46
Speaker 3: there are a bunch of Democrat senators sitting there at
• 30:49
Speaker 3: the hearing, and I pointed out, not one of them
• 30:52
Speaker 3: is going to say a word. They don't care about
• 30:54
Speaker 3: abuse of power. For them, partisanship and partisan control is
• 30:58
Speaker 3: all that mattered. And I contrasted it.
• 31:00
Speaker 4: With what happened in Watergate. Here, listen to what I
• 31:02
  Speaker 4: had to say.
• 31:03
Speaker 3: Fifty years ago, this nation was confronted with an abuse
• 31:06
Speaker 3: of power, and it responded not with indifference, but with accountability.
• 31:11
Speaker 3: I'll tell you one of the big differences of Watergate
• 31:14
Speaker 3: versus Arctic Frost. When Richard Nixon and his corrupt Attorney
• 31:18
Speaker 3: general in his corrupt administration abused their law enforcement powers
• 31:22
Speaker 3: to go after their political opponents. Republican senators stood up
• 31:27
Speaker 3: to the president of their own party and defended the
• 31:30
  Speaker 3: rule of law.
• 31:31
Speaker 4: Where is even a single.
• 31:32
Speaker 3: Democrat senator who has said one word about this abuse
• 31:36
  Speaker 3: of power?
• 31:37
Speaker 2: You're right, by the way, they're all silent on it
• 31:39
Speaker 2: because they don't care as long as it was spying
• 31:41
  Speaker 2: on you.
• 31:41
  Speaker 1: Literally.
• 31:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, and look, I will say what happened in Watergate,
• 31:46
Speaker 3: what actually ended it and when Richard Nixon resigned, is
• 31:49
Speaker 3: it was a group of senior Republican senators that drove
• 31:53
Speaker 3: the sixteen blocks up Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House
• 31:55
Speaker 3: and sat in the Oval office and they said, mister President,
• 31:58
Speaker 3: you have a choice. You either resign or we will
• 32:02
Speaker 3: impeach you and convict you and remove you from office.
• 32:06
Speaker 3: And it was a moment of real political courage for
• 32:09
Speaker 3: those senators to do that. I'm not a Richard Nixon fan.
• 32:11
Speaker 3: I think he was utterly corrupt. As you know, Ben,
• 32:16
Speaker 3: I've written four books. The third book I wrote was
• 32:20
Speaker 3: called Justice Corrupted, How the Left has Weaponized the Legal System,
• 32:24
Speaker 3: And the opening chapter of that book is a deep
• 32:26
Speaker 3: dive into Watergate and it details the just absolute corruption
• 32:29
Speaker 3: and abuse of power what Richard Nixon tried to do,
• 32:35
Speaker 3: Barack Obama and now Joe Biden succeeded in doing. And
• 32:41
Speaker 3: one of the real differences is Republicans were willing to
• 32:45
Speaker 3: stand up and say no, this goes too far.
• 32:48
Speaker 4: There are no Democrats willing to do so.
• 32:50
Speaker 3: And all right, so there was a witness that the
• 32:53
Speaker 3: Democrats had called who was a former senior agent of
• 32:57
Speaker 3: the FBI, and he gave this whole testemony about how
• 33:00
Speaker 3: the FBI is utterly beyond politics and it's impartial and
• 33:04
Speaker 3: it has no partisan agenda at all. And I actually
• 33:08
Speaker 3: cross examined him quite a bit and I said, look,
• 33:10
Speaker 3: I agree with what you're saying. That's what the FBI
• 33:12
Speaker 3: is supposed to be, and that's what DOJ is supposed
• 33:15
Speaker 3: to be. And I'm an alumnus of the Department of Justice.
• 33:18
Speaker 3: I served in the George W. Bush Department of Justice,
• 33:21
Speaker 3: and it has a more than century long tradition of
• 33:25
Speaker 3: being outside of politics, not partisan at all. And I said,
• 33:30
Speaker 3: one of the worst things that Barack Obama and especially
• 33:33
Speaker 3: Joe Biden did is they corrupted it and turned DOJ
• 33:37
Speaker 3: in the FBI into partisan tools. And this witness didn't
• 33:41
Speaker 3: want to admit it. But here's one question I asked him.
• 33:43
  Speaker 4: Give a listen.
• 33:45
Speaker 3: Menendez is currently incarcerated in prison for corruption. And if
• 33:48
Speaker 3: you've got evidence of criminal conduct of one individual to
• 33:52
Speaker 3: the Department of Justice as an obligation to investigate that,
• 33:56
Speaker 3: would you agree that's qualitatively different than a phishing expedition
• 34:01
Speaker 3: targeting twenty percent of the Republicans in the Senate. Would
• 34:04
Speaker 3: you agree that's qualitatively different. I'm not familiar with the
• 34:08
Speaker 3: details of either investigations, so I wouldn't want to speculate.
• 34:11
Speaker 4: Well, let me ask you this.
• 34:12
Speaker 3: Would you be troubled if tomorrow the Trump Department of
• 34:16
Speaker 3: Justice issued a subpoena for the phone records of every
• 34:19
Speaker 3: Democrat that sits on the Juiciary Committee, not if it
• 34:22
Speaker 3: was based on factual evidence specific and articulable effects. Well,
• 34:26
Speaker 3: let me be clear, I'd be damn troubled, and that
• 34:29
Speaker 3: would be an abuse of power. And I'm going to
• 34:30
Speaker 3: predict not a single Democrat is going to say even
• 34:33
Speaker 3: a word about the abuse of power on their side,
• 34:38
Speaker 3: and that double standard is troubling.
• 34:39
Speaker 2: Senatorly, Senator, you're absolutely right there in the point that
• 34:43
  Speaker 2: you were making.
• 34:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, it really is amazing that nobody and by the way,
• 34:50
Speaker 3: the entire hearing, the Democrats were completely silent, Like when
• 34:54
Speaker 3: it came their turn to question, they just said orange
• 34:56
Speaker 3: man bat They just said we hate Donald Trump. They
• 35:00
Speaker 3: didn't acknowledge it. Look, one of the things that happened
• 35:02
Speaker 3: in Arctic Frost is not only did you have Jack
• 35:04
Speaker 3: Smith getting subpoenas for the phone records of twenty percent
• 35:10
Speaker 3: of the Republicans in the Senate, and by the way,
• 35:12
Speaker 3: also getting subpoenas and wire tapping Cash Patel, who was
• 35:17
Speaker 3: then a private citizen announce the director of the FBI.
• 35:21
Speaker 3: They tapped the phones of Susie Wiles, who was then
• 35:25
Speaker 3: the campaign manager. She was running Donald Trump's campaign. I mean,
• 35:28
Speaker 3: this was a political opposition effort. And by the way,
• 35:34
Speaker 3: they taped her conversations with her lawyer, which is illegal
• 35:38
Speaker 3: on any level if you look at the subpoenas they
• 35:41
Speaker 3: issued for the senators. They also went to Judge Bosberg,
• 35:45
Speaker 3: who is an extraordinarily partisan, left wing judge. He's the
• 35:50
Speaker 3: favorite judge for these radical groups that have been getting
• 35:52
Speaker 3: nationwide injunctions against various Trump policies. I chaired a hearing
• 35:56
Speaker 3: several months ago calling for Judge Boseburg to be in
• 35:59
Speaker 3: p eached and removed from office because he is so
• 36:02
Speaker 3: extreme in Arctic frost. For every single Senator that Jack
• 36:07
Speaker 3: Smith subpoenaed, he signed an order ordering the phone companies
• 36:11
Speaker 3: not to disclose to us that they were subpoening on
• 36:14
Speaker 3: our phone record. And in that order he concluded, the
• 36:17
Speaker 3: court finds that we will destroy evidence if we know
• 36:22
Speaker 3: about it. Now, there is zero basis in fact to
• 36:26
  Speaker 3: make that finding.
• 36:27
Speaker 4: Look, I'm a member of the bar.
• 36:28
Speaker 3: I My integrity matters a great deal to me. I'm
• 36:32
Speaker 3: not going to destroy evidence, and there are no facts
• 36:34
Speaker 3: that could be introduced that would suggest I could. There's
• 36:37
Speaker 3: also a federal statute prohibiting non disclosure orders for Senate records,
• 36:42
Speaker 3: and yet Judge Boseberg violated the law that was the
• 36:45
Speaker 3: kind of abuse of power we saw in Arctic frost,
• 36:48
Speaker 3: and it was truly unprecedented. It makes watergates seem mild
• 36:51
  Speaker 3: by comparison.
• 36:53
Speaker 1: No doubt we're going to keep covering this. Don't forget.
