- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Holy crap, Stutgats' is Nebraska pick looks amazing.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now that team's going to the
- 0:25Speaker 1: Final four. I mean I wrote it in Penn I did.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I can't erase it if I wanted to.
- 0:30Speaker 3: How about that they had a Nervey minute in the
- 0:33Speaker 3: first like three minutes, and then that one guy just
- 0:36Speaker 3: couldn't miss. Yes, Sandford, I think his name is.
- 0:40Speaker 4: That's what March is all about.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think his name is because I haven't watched.
- 0:45Speaker 4: The entire season in Marla Hooch.
- 0:51Speaker 1: It is March. March as arrived, Taylor put it on
- 0:53Speaker 1: the pole. Today is March nineteenth. Put this on the poll.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Should March nineteenth be March first?
- 1:03Speaker 5: March first? Always starting a Thursday. It's funny.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Oh god, we have some MBA stuff to get to.
- 1:09Speaker 1: We have Chris Sims joining us in about fifteen minutes.
- 1:13Speaker 1: If he wants proof that there are actually people, as
- 1:16Speaker 1: the tailor, by the way, that people are listening to
- 1:19Speaker 1: radio today and they are not taking the day off
- 1:21Speaker 1: from work and sitting on the couch and watching the
- 1:24Speaker 1: NCAA tournament.
- 1:25Speaker 4: So eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. We just
- 1:28Speaker 4: want proof.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I got a random text today from Taylor and says, man,
- 1:31Speaker 3: we should have been off today, nobody's going to be listening.
- 1:34Speaker 5: I was like, you know what, this is true.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to confirm that at least a couple
- 1:38Speaker 3: of people across this great nation are listening to us.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yes, but look, I mean all of us together are
- 1:43Speaker 1: watching a classic five to twelve matchup high Point and Wisconsin,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and high Point trying to pull off the upset. I mean,
- 1:51Speaker 1: this high Point team is good. Take them seriously, great
- 1:54Speaker 1: guard play, experience, coach. Don't be surprised if high Point
- 1:58Speaker 1: finds itself in the Elite eight.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I'm on you right now.
- 2:00Speaker 6: It feels like South Florida was such a trendy pick
- 2:04Speaker 6: for people in the brackets in that six to eleven
- 2:06Speaker 6: matchup against Louisville, and I just looked at the score.
- 2:09Speaker 6: Louisville is up fifty seven, to thirty seven man, thanks
- 2:13Speaker 6: for coming out bulls. Yes, I think Seth Greenberg gave
- 2:16Speaker 6: us USF Taate Fraser did too, did he really?
- 2:19Speaker 5: You know what?
- 2:20Speaker 3: I looked around after we had Seth Greenberg gon. Seth
- 2:24Speaker 3: Greenberg gave a lot of upsets to a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 3: different people. He was not consistent, So I believe it.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I should have called him out. And I love Seth.
- 2:30Speaker 3: He is fantastic.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Okay. No one's gonna get all these rights.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It's impossible, okay, But I think he coached at USF.
- 2:38Speaker 5: In little Bruce Pearl situation.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I believe he was the coach at one point. He
- 2:42Speaker 4: was he was he Okay?
- 2:46Speaker 1: So Proof of Life eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
- 2:48Speaker 1: That is eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. As
- 2:53Speaker 1: as March continues. It just started and I'm exhausted.
- 2:57Speaker 5: The first game ended up being a very March game.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It was down to the last four seconds game winner
- 3:03Speaker 3: for by TCU.
- 3:04Speaker 5: The horn Frogs horned up.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Can you name a single player on TCU?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Ooh no, I was watching on mute. In fact, in fact,
- 3:14Speaker 3: this game was so good man. Should I admit this
- 3:16Speaker 3: on the air?
- 3:16Speaker 5: Why not? It's national. I was kind of watching in
- 3:18Speaker 5: the car.
- 3:19Speaker 3: My car has like this little ledge where it's a
- 3:22Speaker 3: perfect spot to just just prop your phone up, put
- 3:25Speaker 3: that thing in landscape mode and just watch, you know,
- 3:27Speaker 3: in my case, YouTube TV.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:29Speaker 5: And so I'm in a stretch of.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Highway that is express lane and it's almost it's a
- 3:35Speaker 3: ghost town.
- 3:36Speaker 5: There's almost nobody there, right.
- 3:37Speaker 3: However, I did realize the last couple of times I've
- 3:42Speaker 3: been coming down this road to work here in lovely
- 3:44Speaker 3: Pembroke Pines, Florida, that there's a cop usually set up
- 3:47Speaker 3: somewhere because it is so empty that, you know, people
- 3:49Speaker 3: are just flying on this thing.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Yeah, So this game was so good it almost got
- 3:55Speaker 3: me in trouble because the last couple of times, you know,
- 3:58Speaker 3: I set my cruise control or whatever. I'm not worry
- 4:00Speaker 3: about getting pulled over this time, no cruise control. I
- 4:02Speaker 3: was putting the foot down at like ninety ninety five, okay,
- 4:06Speaker 3: and I looked and so I didn't really have to
- 4:08Speaker 3: look up because my eyes just barely have to move
- 4:11Speaker 3: off of the road in order to glance at the phone.
- 4:14Speaker 3: But when I did, I realized I looked down at
- 4:18Speaker 3: just the wrong time because there's copper just sitting there waiting,
- 4:22Speaker 3: just planted their waiting, and so I think what happened
- 4:25Speaker 3: is I think I might have tapped the brakes just
- 4:28Speaker 3: quick enough to where maybe he didn't see me. And
- 4:32Speaker 3: so when I passed him, I see him moving and
- 4:35Speaker 3: I'm just like, oh, no, he got me. And so
- 4:37Speaker 3: I just kind of did the move where I went
- 4:39Speaker 3: into the middle lane because at this point there's three lanes,
- 4:41Speaker 3: and I was like.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Let's just see what happens.
- 4:44Speaker 3: And as I'm looking behind me down to eighty, of course,
- 4:48Speaker 3: by now right, I look on the left and somebody
- 4:52Speaker 3: clearly didn't see the cop and this person is just
- 4:54Speaker 3: still flying and I'm just like, come on, baby, Oh I.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Got bailed out.
- 4:59Speaker 7: So it was amazing because the cop just whizzed drive
- 5:04Speaker 7: past me and I was like yeah. And then that
- 5:06Speaker 7: cop tried to do the thing or that car tried
- 5:08Speaker 7: to do the thing where it moved into the middle
- 5:09Speaker 7: lane too, and the cop goes, no, no, I'm here
- 5:12Speaker 7: for you, sir, and pulled them over on.
- 5:13Speaker 5: The right side, and I was like, yeah, let's go.
- 5:15Speaker 6: Horn frogs TCU very dangerous out of the Big twelve
- 5:20Speaker 6: conference led by Jamie Dixon, their front court, David Punch,
- 5:24Speaker 6: Xavier Edmonds. Don't be surprised if TCU finds themselves in
- 5:27Speaker 6: the Elite eight.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I like it.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Tell it's Sady Dixon, a coach or a player.
- 5:30Speaker 6: He's a coach.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Okay, check and he's coaching at TCU.
- 5:33Speaker 6: Yep, came over from Pitt.
- 5:34Speaker 8: What.
- 5:36Speaker 6: I don't think he's been at Pitt since Kemba Walker
- 5:39Speaker 6: was at Yukon.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Put it on the pole.
- 5:41Speaker 1: That exactly exactly the way you just said it to me.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I have a theory on your cop thing. Here's okay,
- 5:47Speaker 1: what I'm driving next to a cop or if there's
- 5:50Speaker 1: a you know, a police trap, and I feel like
- 5:52Speaker 1: it's set up and they're trying to get people. I
- 5:55Speaker 1: don't slow down. I speed up. I think when you
- 5:59Speaker 1: slow down, I really do, or at least try to
- 6:02Speaker 1: stay at the same speed as the cop because I
- 6:05Speaker 1: think when you slow down, the cop is like, well
- 6:07Speaker 1: what is he trying to hide?
- 6:09Speaker 5: Well?
- 6:09Speaker 4: Why is he slowing down? What's going on there?
- 6:11Speaker 1: And when you speed up, you're like, hey, this guy
- 6:14Speaker 1: doesn't give a bleat man, but he's got a.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Radar, Like you're already bottom.
- 6:20Speaker 4: I mean, I just listen it's my advice.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm not telling I'm not encouraging anyone else to do
- 6:24Speaker 1: what it is that I do. But I'm telling you
- 6:26Speaker 1: if you slow down, especially if you're going eighty and
- 6:29Speaker 1: then you slow down to like forty, the cops could
- 6:31Speaker 1: have think you got something in the car.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I mean, the ultimate ultimate test of like, hey, just
- 6:36Speaker 3: be confident and people will let you in anywhere, Like
- 6:39Speaker 3: just don't worry about it.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yes, a cop goes ninety, I go ninety. A cop
- 6:43Speaker 4: goes one hundred, I go one or two.
- 6:44Speaker 9: How about like the cop is looking at his radar
- 6:47Speaker 9: and he's going, this guy's going ninety.
- 6:49Speaker 4: You doing it confidently?
- 6:50Speaker 5: Yeah, so soon ago he was going eighty five. Yes,
- 6:54Speaker 5: now he's going ninety. He's good.
- 6:57Speaker 4: But you understand what it is I'm trying to say, right,
- 7:00Speaker 4: I do.
- 7:01Speaker 5: I just don't agree with it.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Well, I mean it's worked for me. I haven't got
- 7:04Speaker 4: a ticket in years.
- 7:05Speaker 5: I mean, I mean, hey, that I know of. Maybe
- 7:08Speaker 5: you just weren't going fast enough.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Sture.
- 7:10Speaker 6: We are at the under sixteen time out in Sienna Duke.
- 7:13Speaker 6: Sienna leads twelve to ten. Oh wow, all right, little
- 7:17Speaker 6: upset alert.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Yes, ruined subject to Chain.
- 7:20Speaker 4: I love March. I have proof of life. Let's go
- 7:22Speaker 4: to Rob.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Who's in Washington today, Rob, go ahead, you're on Fox
- 7:25Speaker 1: Sports Radio.
- 7:27Speaker 10: I'm alive and well in the great Pacific Northwest. Nothing
- 7:31Speaker 10: to do but listen to the Stu Gott Show. So
- 7:34Speaker 10: I'm here, I'm listening, and I'm really interested in these
- 7:38Speaker 10: twelve five upsets. I don't know what it is about
- 7:40Speaker 10: the NCAA tournament, but I feel like there's always a
- 7:43Speaker 10: twelve five upset.
- 7:45Speaker 4: There always is. That's what March is all about.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I mean, it is pitching that back to us since
- 7:49Speaker 3: I was wee big. It's always a twelve for five,
- 7:52Speaker 3: always a twelve over a five. And when that twelve
- 7:55Speaker 3: seed has a lovely name of high Point, Yeah, well
- 7:57Speaker 3: you got a cheer for.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Them from the great state of North Carol.
- 8:00Speaker 10: Wow.
- 8:01Speaker 5: I had no idea.
- 8:01Speaker 4: That's all I know about my point.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Oh Wisconsin. Wisconsin is always good for an early exit March. Really,
- 8:12Speaker 1: and if they make your final four, it's not a
- 8:14Speaker 1: team you want to see in the final four.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Just esthetically, they're not pleasing, you know.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody really cares about a drop step in the lane,
- 8:21Speaker 3: you know what I mean? It's just like, now, give
- 8:23Speaker 3: me a crazy crossover, drop a dude, and hit a
- 8:25Speaker 3: jump shot in his face.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yes, Taylor's already upset at Ubert Davis and Carolina doesn't
- 8:29Speaker 1: play until tonight.
- 8:31Speaker 6: He's called my love for Carolina?
- 8:34Speaker 5: What I get it?
- 8:34Speaker 10: Man?
- 8:35Speaker 1: No, no, no, Ebert Davis was a good North Carolina
- 8:38Speaker 1: basketball player, went on to have a decent NBA career,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and he took Taylor's team, his university, that program to
- 8:45Speaker 1: a Final four. I now, I know Taylor's going to
- 8:47Speaker 1: say he did it with someone else's players and he
- 8:49Speaker 1: hasn't done anything since, but he didn't get them to
- 8:52Speaker 1: a final four.
- 8:53Speaker 6: No, my counter would be him making it to the
- 8:55Speaker 6: final four is the worst thing that could have happened
- 8:57Speaker 6: to the Carolina basketball program, right because now anybody wants
- 9:00Speaker 6: to fire him, the first thing they say is, well,
- 9:02Speaker 6: he made it to a final four. Okay, what have
- 9:04Speaker 6: you done for me lately?
- 9:05Speaker 3: I haven't heard a whole heck of a lot of
- 9:07Speaker 3: positive about Hubert Davis, and you're sort of, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 3: putting your ear to the ground.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I have more proof of life. Let's go to Kelly,
- 9:13Speaker 1: who was in Illinois today. Kelly, go ahead, you're on
- 9:15Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio, Kelly Man.
- 9:21Speaker 5: I hope she's okay.
- 9:22Speaker 6: Yes, that's not good.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah, what's that proof of Yes?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Just what proof of life? And Kelly's not there? Irish, Sam,
- 9:31Speaker 1: what's going on with Kelly?
- 9:32Speaker 4: No? Not sure?
- 9:33Speaker 6: Not sure.
- 9:35Speaker 4: The last collar works, so I can't pay him. The
- 9:36Speaker 4: phone system well line too, perhaps might be faulty, Kelly.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Might be irish.
- 9:44Speaker 1: We're gonna have Chris sims on in just a second.
- 9:47Speaker 1: But I had circled something on the topic sheet today.
- 9:49Speaker 10: Is he?
- 9:50Speaker 4: And what I circled because I figured you would have.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Some thoughts on this as a lover of all things NBA,
- 9:56Speaker 1: this doesn't sound good for the Pistons Cade Cunningham where
- 10:00Speaker 1: they collapse long, Yeah, that's.
- 10:02Speaker 3: One of the scarier sounding injuries out there, like along
- 10:07Speaker 3: as an organ, right, a collapsed organ like that's that's
- 10:10Speaker 3: pretty terrible. And so, you know, looked around a little
- 10:13Speaker 3: bit and tried to I couldn't really think off the
- 10:15Speaker 3: top of my head of players who have experienced that
- 10:18Speaker 3: in the league, but apparently CJ McCollum did a couple
- 10:21Speaker 3: of times.
- 10:22Speaker 5: CJ. McCollum, I don't know why I changed his name.
- 10:24Speaker 3: And it's probably around a three to four week injury
- 10:29Speaker 3: if you know, things go well. But this definitely feels
- 10:33Speaker 3: like it's a season ender in terms of championship hopes
- 10:36Speaker 3: for the Pistons, right, because I mean again, let's just
- 10:39Speaker 3: say in terms of health, it's just a weird, you know,
- 10:43Speaker 3: blip on the radar, nothing serious.
- 10:45Speaker 4: He recovers and.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Maybe right before the playoffs they get Kate Cunningham back
- 10:51Speaker 3: with a game or two to sort of shake off
- 10:53Speaker 3: the rust. Right, I don't think that that is enough
- 10:56Speaker 3: of a confidence boost, a way to just sort of
- 10:59Speaker 3: get rhythm and chemistry going into the playoffs for a
- 11:02Speaker 3: team that only has had, you know, a.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Taste of the playoffs.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Even though they couldn't theory hold on to their one seed,
- 11:09Speaker 3: they couldn't theory have a fairly easy first round matchup.
- 11:13Speaker 3: But if you have even a less than one hundred
- 11:16Speaker 3: percent Cad Cunningham, I think the playoffs are always going
- 11:18Speaker 3: to be difficult for the Pistons because in theory, they're
- 11:21Speaker 3: gonna play great defensively, maybe keep the games close, but
- 11:25Speaker 3: they still need their Cad at the top of his game,
- 11:27Speaker 3: latent games to come out of those come out of
- 11:30Speaker 3: those close games with the victory.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 3: So this just feels like the type of injury where
- 11:33Speaker 3: it's just like timeliness wise, Yes, not.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Great for the good Pistons.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Good end their season. They're forty nine and nineteen. I
- 11:39Speaker 1: believe they're the one seed right now in the East.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Do you feel like they'll still be the one seed?
- 11:44Speaker 3: I mean, I mean they're what three and a half,
- 11:46Speaker 3: three and a half ahead of Boston Rossenham right now.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Boston's been looking great.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I could easily see, you know, a four game skid
- 11:51Speaker 3: and a four game win streak by the Celtics and
- 11:54Speaker 3: all of a sudden that's turned around. It's not you know,
- 11:58Speaker 3: it's it's different now with the play in as opposed
- 12:00Speaker 3: to what opponent you're going to play. If they, you know,
- 12:04Speaker 3: hang on to the one seed, probably have a better
- 12:09Speaker 3: chance of playing a team they can they can get by.
- 12:12Speaker 5: But it's it's just it feels like a season ender
- 12:14Speaker 5: for them.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Taylor, how do you feel about this?
- 12:17Speaker 1: I mean, I hope he's okay, but you know, positive
- 12:19Speaker 1: thing for the next huh.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I mean, come on, I said, I hope he's okay.
- 12:23Speaker 4: He's gonna be okay. He's gonna be fine.
- 12:25Speaker 6: So it says his expected timeline is to be back
- 12:29Speaker 6: by the start of the playoffs. So I would like
- 12:32Speaker 6: to beat the Pistons at full strength. But isy I
- 12:34Speaker 6: was gonna ask you, what is people's reception to the
- 12:38Speaker 6: sixty five game threshold to be eligible to for awards,
- 12:43Speaker 6: because Kate Cunningham now needs to play in at least
- 12:46Speaker 6: five more regular season games to reach that threshold. But
- 12:49Speaker 6: if you just look at the landscape of the NBA
- 12:52Speaker 6: like he is somebody that should very clearly be on
- 12:54Speaker 6: an All NBA team.
- 12:56Speaker 3: That's something that I believe the next chance they get
- 12:59Speaker 3: to get that out of there manning the Players Association
- 13:03Speaker 3: or whomever, they will because it's just it's just a
- 13:07Speaker 3: random number, like it's just and it's gonna you know,
- 13:10Speaker 3: you would imagine with a serious sounding injury like this
- 13:14Speaker 3: that they're not gonna force it just for you know,
- 13:17Speaker 3: an award, which means potentially a few extra dollars down
- 13:20Speaker 3: the road, et cetera. But I think for that reason,
- 13:23Speaker 3: the NBA is probably gonna look at this and say, yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 3: you know, if a guy plays sixty four games and
- 13:29Speaker 3: clearly had an amazing impact on the season, like shouldn't
- 13:32Speaker 3: he be all NBA, or shouldn't he be you know,
- 13:34Speaker 3: in competition for this. I think they're gonna realize that
- 13:36Speaker 3: they sort of swung too hard in one direction with
- 13:38Speaker 3: that rule.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Mikey A, I have to follow this face here. He
- 13:41Speaker 1: is so upset with me, like it is rare to
- 13:44Speaker 1: see him this upset with me. He's embarrassed, he's embarrassed.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I'm certain it's about Kate Cunningham.
- 13:48Speaker 4: What did I do?
- 13:50Speaker 11: Listen, we all have these awful thoughts that swing by,
- 13:53Speaker 11: they float by in our brand, they happen, keeping it happened, ye, right,
- 13:57Speaker 11: but only you will call somebody, not only say it,
- 14:01Speaker 11: but give it attributed to someone else.
- 14:03Speaker 4: You have Taylor going, Man, the Knicks are gonna.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Get by because that guy's got us collapse long.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. I know what he's thinking. Yeah, he
- 14:09Speaker 4: didn't say right, right, I was speaking on his behalf. Yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 4: sure it went.
- 14:13Speaker 11: Through his head, but he was he was He was
- 14:15Speaker 11: a decent enough person to be like, I'm not.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Gonna I've seen enough cartoons, in fact, are even regular
- 14:21Speaker 3: television shows, to know when you actually hear what the
- 14:24Speaker 3: devil on the other shoulders saying.
- 14:25Speaker 5: It makes for better entertainment, so in this case makes
- 14:28Speaker 5: for better radio.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I gave tail of the line and he shook me
- 14:30Speaker 1: off like a catcher, Like a pitcher.
- 14:32Speaker 4: He wanted a different pitch.
- 14:34Speaker 6: I said, I'm not saying that.
- 14:36Speaker 4: By the way, I gave him the number one. He said, no,
- 14:40Speaker 4: the old number two. What are you doing?
- 14:43Speaker 3: I know we found a lane with Irish Sam, but
- 14:46Speaker 3: taking him back to his roots, we missed uh a
- 14:50Speaker 3: wheelhouse area for Iowa.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Sam.
- 14:51Speaker 3: He texted Price Sandford for Nebraska. That was the shooter
- 14:54Speaker 3: guy right that I was talking about, former Iowah haw guy.
- 14:58Speaker 3: His brother Peyton Sandford also played for Iowa currently plays
- 15:01Speaker 3: for Oklahoma City Thunder. That part, I knew Nebraska's first
- 15:05Speaker 3: ever NCAA Tournament win Wahoo exclamation point Final four bound.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Okay, So there you go.
- 15:11Speaker 3: There's IOA Sam's contribution. You could have just said it,
- 15:13Speaker 3: but for some reason I decided to.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I prefer you reading it and we only talk to
- 15:16Speaker 4: Irisham moving forward.
- 15:17Speaker 1: If that's there, you go, right, listen. I hope Kate
- 15:20Speaker 1: Cunningham is okay. Taylor does not think that he didn't
- 15:23Speaker 1: say it. It never even crossed his mind. I'm just an idiot, okay,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and I apologize.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company Live,
- 15:31Speaker 2: WHEKDA said three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on Fox
- 15:35Speaker 2: Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio Whip.
- 15:39Speaker 3: South Florida with a cover huh and some march is
- 15:42Speaker 3: all about.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I mean, that's a win for seth.
- 15:46Speaker 6: Good teams winning great teams cover.
- 15:48Speaker 4: All right, put it on the pall.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Before we get to Colin Cowherd and think about it
- 15:55Speaker 1: Thursday and Chris Sim's going to join us in about
- 15:58Speaker 1: fifteen minutes. If the high point coach doesn't wow, let's
- 16:03Speaker 1: let's hear me drowning in my own flumb again. But
- 16:05Speaker 1: I am wondering, here are their challenges with coaching your
- 16:08Speaker 1: own kid.
- 16:09Speaker 5: It was still in your mouth the second half of
- 16:12Speaker 5: that question.
- 16:13Speaker 4: It was in there. I've done worse and you've heard it.
- 16:17Speaker 3: The one clip that they played from the first time
- 16:19Speaker 3: it happened to you are the worst time it ever
- 16:21Speaker 3: happened to you on the show with your name on it.
- 16:25Speaker 5: I'm with Lewis on this one.
- 16:26Speaker 4: It hurts like I have to.
- 16:28Speaker 3: If I ever have air pods on, I will immediately
- 16:32Speaker 3: eject them from my ears and throw them to different
- 16:34Speaker 3: sides of the room because I don't want to hear
- 16:35Speaker 3: the rest.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I was waiting for a lifeguard to jump in and
- 16:38Speaker 1: say to me, I was drowning that badly in my
- 16:40Speaker 1: own flam. I want to do think about it Thursday,
- 16:44Speaker 1: because it's a good question. But before we get to that,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I want to think about what Colin Cowhard did with
- 16:50Speaker 1: his bracket. And so Taylor, please explain to Israel, to me,
- 16:54Speaker 1: to Mikey, to everyone and the audience what it is
- 16:58Speaker 1: Colin did with his bracket.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Colin Coward filled out a bracket. Everybody wants to know
- 17:03Speaker 6: who Colin Coward has cutting down the nets. So in
- 17:06Speaker 6: his bracket he has Yukon beating Michigan State in the
- 17:09Speaker 6: Sweet sixteen, right, and then Michigan State coming back from
- 17:14Speaker 6: being eliminated and then beating Dunk in the elite.
- 17:17Speaker 4: That's what march is all about.
- 17:19Speaker 5: I mean, I got a second chances.
- 17:20Speaker 4: If that happens, he's gonna win the pool.
- 17:23Speaker 3: I mean, it's no Mark DEROZI helped him always ahead
- 17:28Speaker 3: of the game.
- 17:29Speaker 4: This call it.
- 17:31Speaker 6: That's the dangers of filling out the bracket with pen
- 17:34Speaker 6: and paper.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it really is. Or as you're getting old.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I just had that experience today, Taylor, where this morning
- 17:41Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah, I hadn't filled out my
- 17:43Speaker 3: Fox one yet, let me do that officially. So it's
- 17:45Speaker 3: ten in the morning, and man makes it so easy.
- 17:47Speaker 3: It's just click click, click click click. You don't even
- 17:50Speaker 3: have to scroll the side to side. You don't have
- 17:52Speaker 3: to think about who's in what region. Just pick a winner.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Keep all the thought process out of it.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So can I hear this again before we get to
- 17:58Speaker 1: think about it Thursday? Exactly what did he do? He
- 18:00Speaker 1: had who beating who in the sweet sixteen?
- 18:02Speaker 6: Yeah, so he has Yukon beating Michigan State in the
- 18:06Speaker 6: sweet sixteen.
- 18:07Speaker 1: All right, so Margon stays out, So Michigan State is
- 18:09Speaker 1: out and Yukon has advanced, and then he and then
- 18:12Speaker 1: he has what happening?
- 18:13Speaker 6: He has Michigan State beating Duke and.
- 18:16Speaker 4: What happened to Yukon?
- 18:19Speaker 6: Don't want to talk about it?
- 18:20Speaker 3: In Michigan State the resurrection? Baby, what happens to the way,
- 18:25Speaker 3: what is happening to Duke? They're down nine or down
- 18:28Speaker 3: eleven at halftime?
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a long halftime.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it does kind of food.
- 18:32Speaker 6: Don't think about it though, That's one you just kind
- 18:35Speaker 6: of have to let the game come.
- 18:36Speaker 1: To Yeah, uh, let's play the imaging again for Think
- 18:39Speaker 1: About It Thursday.
- 18:42Speaker 2: You know that segment talk About It Tuesday on Hawkman
- 18:46Speaker 2: Crowder in Soleiro. This is like that, but bigger, bigger
- 18:50Speaker 2: and better, better, better, And forty eight hours later, this
- 18:54Speaker 2: is think about It Thursday.
- 18:58Speaker 6: So for the people who weren't here for the first hour,
- 19:01Speaker 6: the question for Think About It Thursday, who is the
- 19:04Speaker 6: worst current NBA player that you could put on a
- 19:08Speaker 6: sixteen seed that could then go on to win the
- 19:10Speaker 6: NCAA tournament.
- 19:11Speaker 3: So we're not going to explain the people out and
- 19:13Speaker 3: you know Washington State, who Hawkman, Crowder and Silero are.
- 19:17Speaker 4: And then we're going to let that image and go.
- 19:19Speaker 1: We have discussed hawk at length on this show, and
- 19:21Speaker 1: I said, Taylor's counter programming a local show down here
- 19:24Speaker 1: in Miami, the afternoon show on Well, I can't say
- 19:27Speaker 1: the station.
- 19:29Speaker 4: That's what Google is for.
- 19:30Speaker 6: They do talk about It Tuesday. Yes, yes, this is
- 19:35Speaker 6: very different. This is think About It Thursday.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And as the imaging said, forty eight hours later, yes, God,
- 19:40Speaker 3: what an opening day of marsh. So, as I was
- 19:44Speaker 3: thinking about this before Fred Hoiberg called Taylor. When you
- 19:48Speaker 3: had this in mind, you just cared about like what
- 19:51Speaker 3: level of player or what style of player as well?
- 19:56Speaker 6: What level of player.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Okay, because the guy that I have, I think is
- 20:00Speaker 3: probably even below the level that you would consider somebody
- 20:04Speaker 3: that they would need. Because the way I map this
- 20:06Speaker 3: out right, so it's it's let's say it's a Sienna
- 20:09Speaker 3: and they've got one or two shooters on their team,
- 20:13Speaker 3: which you know, it's college of basketball. It doesn't matter
- 20:15Speaker 3: what level you got one or two shooters on there.
- 20:17Speaker 3: You need one rebounder, just one little pogo stick maybe
- 20:21Speaker 3: eventually can get you an offensive rebounder too, doesn't matter
- 20:25Speaker 3: who that other player is, just making a decent defender whatever.
- 20:27Speaker 3: And then this player, so this player has to be
- 20:31Speaker 3: great at isolation, has to be sort of a microwave right,
- 20:35Speaker 3: has to be able to either give you, you know, ten
- 20:37Speaker 3: straight points before you could even blink right, or just
- 20:40Speaker 3: you know, keep drawing the defense and you know, hitting
- 20:42Speaker 3: his shooters for three after three after so Benny Johnson,
- 20:45Speaker 3: I mean, well, he said current right, current current, Now, Taylor,
- 20:48Speaker 3: did you want to give me a couple of names
- 20:50Speaker 3: and see if that's like somebody.
- 20:52Speaker 4: That you or think that I would choose, or.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Do you just want me to give you who I'm
- 20:55Speaker 5: talking about.
- 20:56Speaker 6: So you give me who you're talking about, and then
- 20:58Speaker 6: I'm gonna cross check your player with the Ringers NBA rankings,
- 21:03Speaker 6: and then I'm gonna look around that player and see
- 21:05Speaker 6: if somebody above that player could maybe win, or that
- 21:08Speaker 6: somebody below.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Right.
- 21:09Speaker 3: So here's my problem is, I don't think my players
- 21:11Speaker 3: even on that top ninety nine list.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Real, wow, yeah, you ready for the name? Yeah, it's
- 21:16Speaker 5: Cam Thomas.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Cam Thomas now of the Milwaukee Bucks, formerly of the
- 21:21Speaker 3: Brooklyn Nets, and formerly of LSU, where he played for
- 21:24Speaker 3: a year.
- 21:25Speaker 4: He is the type of scorer.
- 21:27Speaker 3: That I mean, you give him thirty eight minutes in
- 21:30Speaker 3: a college basketball game, he's going to average about thirty
- 21:33Speaker 3: eight these days. Like if you take him now this this,
- 21:35Speaker 3: you know, the skill set, that refined skill set that
- 21:37Speaker 3: he has now even more so than he was in college. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 3: I think that guy can win six straight games for you.
- 21:42Speaker 4: That list is a top one hundred list, not a
- 21:44Speaker 4: top ninety nine.
- 21:45Speaker 5: No, I mean it's the top ninety nine list.
- 21:46Speaker 3: The one we're reading is the top one hundred list
- 21:48Speaker 3: of all time. The one Taylor's referring to is another
- 21:51Speaker 3: one that bleacher Board did great list, the ring Sorry
- 21:54Speaker 3: the Ringer my bag there top one hundred too many media.
- 21:58Speaker 5: I was looking at a totally different list. Am I bad?
- 22:01Speaker 6: So Cam Thomas is not on that list.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Okay, wow, So did I ruin the game? That's why
- 22:06Speaker 3: I wanted to see if you wanted to do it
- 22:07Speaker 3: in reverse.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I felt like you ruined the game when you asked
- 22:10Speaker 4: five questions.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yes, I mean really, I mean it's unbelievable how he
- 22:14Speaker 1: breaks these things down.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Win it's think about it Thursday, but don't think too much.
- 22:18Speaker 4: I mean, answer the question Thursday. Part of the rules.
- 22:23Speaker 3: I did not get. Answer the question Thursday does not work.
- 22:26Speaker 3: It doesn't sound right.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:27Speaker 6: So I'm looking on this Ringer list. Mkel Bridges is
- 22:32Speaker 6: fifty seven. Does mckl bridges win a title?
- 22:34Speaker 3: No, because That's what I'm talking about. That's not the
- 22:37Speaker 3: type of player like mckal bridge is at number fifty seven.
- 22:40Speaker 5: First of all, I don't know if I agree with that.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I haven't really looked at the rest of the list,
- 22:43Speaker 3: but that's not he is not a takeover offensive type
- 22:47Speaker 3: of player. Like, yeah, he did when he was with
- 22:50Speaker 3: the Nets for a little bit and he was the
- 22:52Speaker 3: only option there. Looked like he could score forty on
- 22:54Speaker 3: any given night. But you're asking him to do that
- 22:57Speaker 3: six straight times.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I just don't.
- 22:59Speaker 5: I don't see it.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Norm Powell win an NCAA championship.
- 23:03Speaker 5: Norms A Norm's a good one. I know that's a
- 23:05Speaker 5: good one, having watched him.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Think about it.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Let's here, let me put it this. He's forty six
- 23:10Speaker 6: on this list.
- 23:10Speaker 4: We're thinking about it.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I mean, if the referees understand how to call shooting fouls,
- 23:15Speaker 3: then yes, then I think Norman Powell will absolutely be able.
- 23:18Speaker 5: To win six games as the headman on the What
- 23:22Speaker 5: did you have to stay the same major? Does he
- 23:23Speaker 5: have to be twenty two? Again?
- 23:25Speaker 6: No current current day NBA player on the team. What
- 23:28Speaker 6: about Austin Reeves? Does Austin Reeves a good one?
- 23:31Speaker 4: That's a great one. How about Cooper Flagg? No, no,
- 23:35Speaker 4: he doesn't.
- 23:35Speaker 6: We saw Cooper flag last year. He lost in the tournum.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Right, he's overrated, Yes, although he's better this year than
- 23:40Speaker 3: he was marginally, Like drop him in right now, he's
- 23:43Speaker 3: a significantly better player than he was at Duke this
- 23:46Speaker 3: time last year.
- 23:47Speaker 5: But uh, what name did you just mention? There?
- 23:49Speaker 6: Austin Reeves thirty six on this list?
- 23:51Speaker 3: I think Austin Reeves, Yes, he can be one of
- 23:54Speaker 3: those players because he can absolutely fill up a score
- 23:57Speaker 3: sheet like and because he's so good at drawing fouls.
- 23:59Speaker 3: And again, if these officials know how to call fouls properly,
- 24:02Speaker 3: I think he could absolutely do it.
- 24:04Speaker 1: How about your boy Keyante George not quite big ticket, OKG.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's a little too small and a
- 24:14Speaker 3: little too not liking of contact. I think some people
- 24:18Speaker 3: might call him soft a little bit, So I don't know.
- 24:21Speaker 5: If he is necessarily going to be able.
- 24:23Speaker 4: To carry that.
- 24:24Speaker 6: So I'm gonna keep going up this list that the
- 24:26Speaker 6: Ringer has. Karl Anthony Towns Oh.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, today's Carl Anthony Dominate.
- 24:33Speaker 5: Yoh, absolutely that guy.
- 24:35Speaker 3: He'll shoot from thirty eight and then just come back
- 24:38Speaker 3: and pound in the paint for another, you know, ten
- 24:40Speaker 3: straight possessions, right, I think got oh man, he would
- 24:43Speaker 3: have so much fun with him at Sienna. Could you
- 24:45Speaker 3: imagine all these little dudes at Sienna just playing around
- 24:47Speaker 3: KRL Anthony Towns.
- 24:49Speaker 4: And Carl will be like, I like it here.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, mikeyr your mic is off, Mikey, Your
- 24:58Speaker 1: Mikey's off.
- 24:59Speaker 9: All right, I unmuted the wrong thing. It's more I
- 25:02Speaker 9: went about it a different way. March Man, I'm not
- 25:05Speaker 9: doing anything speaking of nobody's listening.
- 25:09Speaker 4: So I went about it a different way.
- 25:11Speaker 9: And I'm thinking of how bad the sixteen seeds are,
- 25:13Speaker 9: so I wanted a much better player. And the average
- 25:17Speaker 9: score in an NCAA game is between sixty five and
- 25:20Speaker 9: seventy five, So I figured, why not just grab a
- 25:22Speaker 9: guy that can score eighty three?
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 25:24Speaker 6: Wow, Man, Obio is on this list. He's twenty eight.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Today's Bam out of Bio as opposed to the Bam
- 25:32Speaker 3: out of Bio from two months ago.
- 25:34Speaker 5: I think, yeah, you.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Think they're winning a national champion.
- 25:37Speaker 3: I think bam out of Baio looks at every college
- 25:39Speaker 3: team and says, oh, the Wizards are better than these guys,
- 25:42Speaker 3: and he'll just try to score eighty five every single game.
- 25:45Speaker 4: How about Colin Knipple? How about that? Huh huh, think
- 25:50Speaker 4: about it.
- 25:51Speaker 5: I'm thinking about it.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Taylor talk.
- 25:53Speaker 5: While I think about this.
- 25:54Speaker 6: I was gonna say to the problem with Bam is
- 25:56Speaker 6: you're going to get to like the Elite eight, and
- 25:58Speaker 6: then you're gonna get passive Bam out bios right, and
- 26:00Speaker 6: you're gonna get eliminated in your look at the box
- 26:02Speaker 6: where and be like, how did Bam out of bio
- 26:04Speaker 6: shoot five for seven against.
- 26:06Speaker 3: The That's why I say this, Bam, because all you
- 26:09Speaker 3: gotta do is after every game, just play him all
- 26:12Speaker 3: the hate from after his eighty three point game. He'll
- 26:14Speaker 3: find the motivation every single time he loses a Norman Powell. Look,
- 26:19Speaker 3: my answer to Kanka Nipple is no rookies. No rookies okay,
- 26:22Speaker 3: because it's just too close. We just saw it and
- 26:24Speaker 3: they didn't do it.
- 26:25Speaker 4: So no.
- 26:26Speaker 1: This is an interesting one because you'd be strange for
- 26:29Speaker 1: him to still be in college.
- 26:30Speaker 4: People would look at him like he's weird. You're so old.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Graduate already, move on, get a job.
- 26:34Speaker 12: DeMar DeRozan, Oh, DeMar DeRozan would probably average sixty in
- 26:41Speaker 12: the tournament because nobody can stop him.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Would that, Yeah, yeah, I think you can do it. Really,
- 26:47Speaker 3: he's that type of that. I mean, because I was
- 26:48Speaker 3: gonna say something defensively, I don't even think it matters,
- 26:51Speaker 3: like Yeah, it doesn't matter if your defense is terrible,
- 26:54Speaker 3: He'll just slow the game down, just isolate every single
- 26:57Speaker 3: time and pull up from twenty feet and probably hit
- 27:00Speaker 3: like seventy five percent of those.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Is Tyler Herro a no brainer?
- 27:05Speaker 5: No?
- 27:07Speaker 12: No.
- 27:07Speaker 3: The reason why it's not quite Keante George. But I
- 27:10Speaker 3: still think a team like a number one seed caliber
- 27:14Speaker 3: type of physic, he can be physical with him and
- 27:16Speaker 3: he you can take him out of one.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Of those games.
- 27:18Speaker 4: How about Michael Jordan at his current age?
- 27:22Speaker 5: Wow?
- 27:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he's winning it. I mean I do.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I think he's getting Nance's tie. I know Nance doesn't
- 27:28Speaker 4: call it anymore, but he's getting a tip.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Hey, we get more time between games, like a full
- 27:33Speaker 3: week's break between games.
- 27:34Speaker 1: He's got to play back to He plays two and
- 27:36Speaker 1: three days and then he gets four days off.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I mean Michael could pull it off.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, yeah, No, I think he wins one one game?
- 27:47Speaker 3: No no, no, he comes back for that second game
- 27:50Speaker 3: after one day off and barely moved.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Is barely moving?
- 27:54Speaker 4: Are we done?
- 27:55Speaker 6: I mean I have another name suggestion to throw it?
- 27:58Speaker 5: Is he?
- 27:58Speaker 6: Because I'm trying to find the highest person on this
- 28:01Speaker 6: list that gets a no Derek White, oh, thirty third
- 28:06Speaker 6: on this list.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy because I absolutely love Derrick White. Like
- 28:11Speaker 3: I say all the time, he's not the best player
- 28:14Speaker 3: on the Celtics, but the most important player on the Celtics.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Could he do it if he was just the aggressor for.
- 28:21Speaker 5: I mean, yes, I'm gonna say yes.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna say yes because if you watch him, like
- 28:29Speaker 3: he basically only gives you the offense when they need it.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Really, but when I mean, he's just capable.
- 28:34Speaker 3: He's so capable, and he'll give you like twelve easy
- 28:36Speaker 3: points from like pick six turnovers.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I have a good one, I think again, a guy
- 28:40Speaker 1: who's old, people would look at him funny. They'd be like, hey,
- 28:42Speaker 1: move on, get a job, get out of college enough, okay,
- 28:46Speaker 1: Russell Westbrook, he would take it so seriously. That guy's
- 28:51Speaker 1: averaging like a triple double for the Kings, perfect team
- 28:54Speaker 1: for him.
- 28:54Speaker 3: He don't care if they win. He only cares if
- 28:56Speaker 3: he gets his I mean, he would not do it,
- 28:59Speaker 3: not currently, I don't know.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Yeah, No, he'd be the.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Best athlete in college basketball right now.
- 29:06Speaker 3: He's definitely not nearing a triple double in terms of
- 29:08Speaker 3: his averages.

- 29:32Speaker 3: our tire rack player of the day. It's Curtesia Westwood one,
- 29:35Speaker 3: Noah Eagle and Lafonso Ellis the fawns two.

- 29:56Speaker 13: Fogs are still dancing.
- 29:58Speaker 4: In Greenville, Thank you.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Mike Taylor is way too excited for an early Duke
- 30:05Speaker 1: Duke deficit to Siena in the NC double.
- 30:07Speaker 4: To call that game that's over.
- 30:09Speaker 5: So he's going down.
- 30:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm trying not to get too excited. But if
- 30:12Speaker 6: Sienna could beat Duke, I will literally never ask for
- 30:15Speaker 6: anything ever again in my life.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Not even a new coach for North Carolina.
- 30:20Speaker 6: Yeah, that's coming. I don't have to ask for that.
- 30:22Speaker 4: He doesn't have to ask for it.
- 30:24Speaker 3: But would you trade that though, if they said five
- 30:26Speaker 3: more years of Hubert and Duke loses to a sixteen
- 30:29Speaker 3: seed today.
- 30:30Speaker 6: So if Duke loses to a sixteen seed today on Sunday,
- 30:33Speaker 6: You're going to see me in the front row of
- 30:35Speaker 6: a church, because that's that's my end of the bargain.
- 30:39Speaker 14: Go ahead, Mikey Yankees World Series victory over the Dodgers
- 30:44Speaker 14: with an Aaron Judge walk off Grand Slam, or Duke
- 30:48Speaker 14: loses by double digits to Siena, which one of you taking.
- 30:51Speaker 6: It's a lot tougher than you would think. But the
- 30:55Speaker 6: Yankees are probably my first love, so I'm always going
- 30:57Speaker 6: to take the Yankees. I would take Duke losing right
- 31:01Speaker 6: now over like a Knicks championship, I think.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Wow, really Yeah?
- 31:06Speaker 5: See, I kind of knew you were a bit of
- 31:08Speaker 5: a fraudulent Knicks fan.
- 31:09Speaker 6: Now I'm not a fraudulent Knicks fan. I'm just more
- 31:13Speaker 6: of a Duc cater down eight, I mean up eight.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm sorry, March Jesus, there are scores all over my
- 31:20Speaker 1: television and I am praying that Fred Hoiberg joins us
- 31:24Speaker 1: in a couple of minutes because I told Chris Sims
- 31:27Speaker 1: hour two and he's not happy about it.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Is we have some.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Calls there, ye sign of life. Our boy Alan Albuquerque.
- 31:34Speaker 4: He's always there. He's always a lot.
- 31:35Speaker 5: Yeah, how you doing?
- 31:37Speaker 4: Now, let's get it out. I'll got.
- 31:42Speaker 6: Say is the hey you gotta say?
- 31:44Speaker 8: Is the fourteenth time long time I got something to
- 31:47Speaker 8: say about March Madness here and I got something to
- 31:51Speaker 8: piggyback off of yesterday's show. Hey college basketball, Hey, March madness.
- 31:56Speaker 15: Do me a favor.
- 31:57Speaker 8: Yeah, go back to having each arena keeping the regular court.
- 32:01Speaker 8: So if I'm watching Troy Nebraska at the Paycom Center
- 32:04Speaker 8: in Oklahoma City, I want to see OSU Cowboys logos
- 32:07Speaker 8: all over that floor. March Madness to me is three things. Bricks, threes,
- 32:12Speaker 8: sloppy basketball, and two random teams playing on another random
- 32:16Speaker 8: teams home court.
- 32:17Speaker 10: That just college basketball, Yes, and I love it random.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Thank you al the randomness of everything about March. But yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 3: the courts bring that back, just like he brought back
- 32:28Speaker 3: the game yesterday.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Do me a favor.
- 32:30Speaker 4: I am.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm terrified we're going to have to go to Think
- 32:32Speaker 1: about It Thursday, because.
- 32:34Speaker 4: I have no idea where the mayor is. And I
- 32:36Speaker 4: put a ninety percent success rate.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Yeah, that seemed way too high in the home.
- 32:40Speaker 4: I spoke to Illi.
- 32:42Speaker 1: It's still ninety that he calls it at some point,
- 32:44Speaker 1: hopefully not four fifteen when Sam's going to join us,
- 32:47Speaker 1: and then I'll have to bomb them again. I mean,
- 32:49Speaker 1: and I will do that the SAMs twice in the show.
- 32:51Speaker 1: But let's get to think about It Thursday. Here Taylor
- 32:54Speaker 1: has the topic for us today, and if Fred Hoiberg
- 32:57Speaker 1: calls in in the middle of this, we'll just have
- 32:59Speaker 1: to that's March, Okay, let's get the imaging.
- 33:02Speaker 5: I was hip.
- 33:05Speaker 2: You know that segment Talk About It Tuesday on Hawkman
- 33:08Speaker 2: Crowder in Solero.
- 33:10Speaker 4: This is like that, but.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Bigger, bigger and better, better, better, And forty eight hours later,
- 33:16Speaker 2: this is think about It Thursday.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Man.
- 33:22Speaker 9: That intro hits every time, especially the only reason to
- 33:26Speaker 9: do the segment we are counterprogramming a local radio show.
- 33:31Speaker 4: I love it.
- 33:32Speaker 6: So today's topic for Think About It Thursday. Who is
- 33:37Speaker 6: the worst current NBA player that you could put on
- 33:40Speaker 6: a sixteen seed that could then win the NCAA tournament.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Wow, that is such a tricky question the way you
- 33:48Speaker 3: phrase that, because you're talking about one singular player that
- 33:53Speaker 3: can elevate a team that probably should lose by thirty
- 33:59Speaker 3: to a time seed, but not only have them win
- 34:03Speaker 3: that game, but then win every single game the rest
- 34:07Speaker 3: of the way in the tournament.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:08Speaker 3: So all right, you're really thinking about that far as
- 34:12Speaker 3: I've talked about it ever since Taylor texted me think
- 34:15Speaker 3: about it thurs, right, So are we all thinking about this?
- 34:17Speaker 3: Are we thinking about this together? As everybody just putting
- 34:19Speaker 3: two hands in their chins and stared at me while
- 34:21Speaker 3: I pick about it.
- 34:21Speaker 4: I'm just waiting for the mayor. I mean, wow, I
- 34:24Speaker 4: think he's ready to go right now.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Hoyburg's ready to go right now, the mayor. All right,
- 34:28Speaker 1: let's bring him off.
- 34:30Speaker 9: He's probably hurt the intro and had to get in on.
- 34:32Speaker 1: This drop the music. I was saying, we will pick
- 34:36Speaker 1: it up after Fred Hoiberg. What does Marcus Smart win
- 34:39Speaker 1: a national championship? I mean, let's get to Fred.
- 34:44Speaker 4: The mayor.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Fred Hoiberg, the head coach of Nebraska joining us right
- 34:48Speaker 1: now right after a first round victory.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Here, Coach thank you for joining us. How are you good?
- 34:53Speaker 15: And good?
- 34:53Speaker 10: How you guys doing doing great?
- 34:55Speaker 4: Congratulations to you, coach, big win for you.
- 34:58Speaker 15: Yeah, thank you. I'm really happy for our guys, proud
- 35:02Speaker 15: of them. You know, I'm not sure how much you
- 35:04Speaker 15: guys saw this, but it was the best neutral site
- 35:07Speaker 15: atmosphere I've ever been in. Our fan just absolutely took over,
- 35:11Speaker 15: and you know, when I went out for the anthem,
- 35:13Speaker 15: I really got emotional just seeing all the red in
- 35:16Speaker 15: the crowd, and you know, they really helped us, really
- 35:19Speaker 15: will us to that win, and we went on a run.
- 35:22Speaker 15: You know, just the roof blew off the place, so
- 35:24Speaker 15: it was it was incredible great to share that with
- 35:26Speaker 15: the fans and you know, hopefully continue on this journey.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Yeah, coach, I caught the beginning of the game right
- 35:31Speaker 3: before you started going on your run, and it felt
- 35:34Speaker 3: like there was a little bit of extra tension in
- 35:35Speaker 3: the air. Obviously the first tournament win for you guys
- 35:39Speaker 3: at stake. Did it feel bigger going in even before
- 35:42Speaker 3: you saw you know, the fans and everybody at that
- 35:44Speaker 3: site ready for you.
- 35:46Speaker 15: That's a great question, you know, I get the question
- 35:47Speaker 15: a lot. Do I bring it up?
- 35:49Speaker 10: I don't have to.
- 35:50Speaker 15: There's been enough attention on it, and you know it's
- 35:52Speaker 15: out there. Our guys read all about it, so they
- 35:55Speaker 15: know they know what's at stake. And you know, I
- 35:57Speaker 15: told them, I said, guys, listen, at the end of
- 35:58Speaker 15: the day, pressures of privilege. Is there pressure on us, yes,
- 36:01Speaker 15: but there's also pressure on Troy. And you know, for
- 36:04Speaker 15: us to go out there, it was all about we
- 36:06Speaker 15: had a disappointing game in Chicago against Purdue. Now a
- 36:10Speaker 15: lot of that had to do with Purdue. They're absolutely
- 36:12Speaker 15: rolling right now and they cut down the net in Chicago.
- 36:15Speaker 15: But you know, it gave us a chance to reset
- 36:17Speaker 15: and get back to work and get back to who
- 36:19Speaker 15: we are and you know, the core values, and we
- 36:22Speaker 15: talked a lot about that going into this game. And
- 36:25Speaker 15: you know the importance of in these early ones. You know,
- 36:27Speaker 15: games started before noon here local time, is you know,
- 36:32Speaker 15: the team that gets off to the fast start generally
- 36:34Speaker 15: wins these games. But if it didn't happen, we had
- 36:36Speaker 15: to stay more emotionally stable than we did the last
- 36:40Speaker 15: time that we played, which was against Purdue. So you know,
- 36:43Speaker 15: I just I'm really thankful for the guys how they
- 36:45Speaker 15: prepared for this one. You know, Troy hit a couple
- 36:49Speaker 15: of tough threes early in this one to build a
- 36:51Speaker 15: little bit of a lead, but we never panicked and
- 36:53Speaker 15: we got that thing going. Price Stanford it five threes
- 36:56Speaker 15: in the first half, and you know, they just kept
- 36:59Speaker 15: the heat and kept the press and kept her footing
- 37:00Speaker 15: the gas. So you know, just it's good to get
- 37:02Speaker 15: to this one behind us. And you know, now it's
- 37:05Speaker 15: about are you satisfied? And you know, one thing, I'm
- 37:08Speaker 15: confident our guys all year long, they have really been
- 37:12Speaker 15: good and resilient as far as putting big emotional either
- 37:14Speaker 15: wins or losses behind us. Got a film session tonight.
- 37:18Speaker 15: We talk a lot about next assignment. Our next assignment
- 37:20Speaker 15: is the film session. We got to be locked in coach.
- 37:23Speaker 3: If anybody had seen Pryce Sandford shoot for the first
- 37:26Speaker 3: time today, they thought to themselves, Wow, this might be
- 37:28Speaker 3: the best shooter in this tournament. Talk about just his
- 37:32Speaker 3: his shooting ability and just what he can do for
- 37:34Speaker 3: you guys with that you know, quick release well.
- 37:37Speaker 15: And it's really cool. His brother Peyton is on a
- 37:40Speaker 15: two way with the Thunder and he was in he
- 37:42Speaker 15: was in the gym. He scored his first NBA points
- 37:44Speaker 15: last night on the road, and they sent him back
- 37:47Speaker 15: and he was able to be there to watch Price,
- 37:49Speaker 15: you know, go off the way he did today. And
- 37:52Speaker 15: I'll say this about our guy, they do an unbelievable
- 37:54Speaker 15: job finding him. I thought we did a great job
- 37:56Speaker 15: on the glass and we didn't force it inside again length,
- 38:00Speaker 15: we kicked it out and really created some open looks.
- 38:03Speaker 15: And then are in transition. I thought we did a
- 38:06Speaker 15: good job finding him in transition as well. And that's
- 38:09Speaker 15: what this team has been all about. They've been very unselfish.
- 38:12Speaker 15: We had twenty assists and only six turnovers in this
- 38:15Speaker 15: game today and that was a huge factor in the win.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Coach.
- 38:18Speaker 1: College sports is so interesting right now, and I am
- 38:21Speaker 1: wondering because I think a lot of people looked up
- 38:23Speaker 1: and were surprised to see how good Nebraska was at basketball.
- 38:26Speaker 1: But Indiana dominates football, So why not Nebraska in basketball?
- 38:30Speaker 1: How did you build this thing so quickly?
- 38:33Speaker 15: Well, I'm not sure it was quick. You know, ear
- 38:37Speaker 15: seven now, and you know, we here's what we took
- 38:40Speaker 15: over the largest rebuild in the history of the Power five,
- 38:42Speaker 15: and we knew we were going to take some lumps.
- 38:45Speaker 15: And then year two with COVID. So those first two
- 38:47Speaker 15: years were you know, we're really tough. I think we
- 38:49Speaker 15: won seven games in each of those two years, and
- 38:50Speaker 15: then it's steadily gone uphill from there. And we got
- 38:53Speaker 15: the right guys in this program. We got some local kids,
- 38:56Speaker 15: you know, I give Sam Grizel, who is from Lincoln.
- 38:59Speaker 15: He transferred in for his senior year. That's really when
- 39:01Speaker 15: we started flipping everything and you know, the culture got
- 39:05Speaker 15: to where it needed to be. You know, we got
- 39:06Speaker 15: the right guys to hold accountable the standards that we
- 39:09Speaker 15: were trying to live up to, and you know, we've
- 39:11Speaker 15: had a lot of guys that have just really bought
- 39:12Speaker 15: into that. So it's just you know, this team in particular,
- 39:15Speaker 15: it's been such a fun team to be around because
- 39:18Speaker 15: there's no agendas with this group. There's no you know,
- 39:21Speaker 15: there's no distractions. They come on time, they take care
- 39:25Speaker 15: of their academics, you know, off off cords. There's been
- 39:28Speaker 15: no incidents. So it's just been you know, when when
- 39:31Speaker 15: you have a group like that, it makes our job
- 39:32Speaker 15: as coaches a hell of a lot easier.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Fred March is all about, you know, the close games,
- 39:37Speaker 3: like even the first game that tipped off today ended
- 39:39Speaker 3: up being a two point game there, But will they
- 39:41Speaker 3: blow out like you guys experienced today. How much confidence
- 39:44Speaker 3: does that.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Really give you going forward?
- 39:46Speaker 3: You can move past the first win and say to
- 39:49Speaker 3: your team, look how well we can perform when we're
- 39:51Speaker 3: on our game.
- 39:52Speaker 15: Yeah, and we'll and listen, we'll play a completely different
- 39:54Speaker 15: team next game, with different schemes offensively and defensively. And
- 39:58Speaker 15: that's what I'm talking about. Getting over You know this
- 40:02Speaker 15: one quickly. But our guys have done it all years,
- 40:04Speaker 15: so there's no reason to believe that that won't continue.
- 40:08Speaker 15: And you know, we need a film session, we'll talk
- 40:10Speaker 15: about the game plan. We'll put it in tomorrow, we'll
- 40:12Speaker 15: get a new practice here in Oklahoma City, and it's
- 40:16Speaker 15: all about going out and executing. But I thought our
- 40:17Speaker 15: guys really played with discipline today and you can see
- 40:20Speaker 15: that with the turnover margin. I thought nineteen to three
- 40:23Speaker 15: on second chance points, seventeen to five in points off turnovers,
- 40:27Speaker 15: and then twenty six to ten points in the paint.
- 40:29Speaker 15: And you know that's what it's all about. We help
- 40:31Speaker 15: them to twenty six percent shooting in the second half
- 40:33Speaker 15: or twenty four actually, And if you do that consistently.
- 40:36Speaker 15: That's what that's the formula for advancing in March.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Coach, I coached my daughters. I coached her high school
- 40:42Speaker 1: travel across team. She's now playing at Northwestern. It's the
- 40:46Speaker 1: Indiana of women's college lacrosse. But I am wondering, here
- 40:51Speaker 1: are their challenges with coaching your own kid.
- 40:55Speaker 15: You know what, he's made it easy. And he came here.
- 40:58Speaker 15: He was in high school with the COVID year, so
- 41:02Speaker 15: he really wasn't evaluated and it was a tough year
- 41:04Speaker 15: for all those kids that were seniors during COVID because
- 41:07Speaker 15: you know, they just couldn't get evaluated properly. And he
- 41:10Speaker 15: went on a couple visit for elite camps the previous
- 41:13Speaker 15: year and did really well, and I think was on
- 41:15Speaker 15: the verge of getting a couple offers. But then they
- 41:17Speaker 15: had players and took advantage of the COVID year. So
- 41:19Speaker 15: he just said, you know, let me come and walk
- 41:21Speaker 15: on and see where it goes. And if he developed,
- 41:24Speaker 15: maybe he would go to a lower level. But you know,
- 41:26Speaker 15: he took advantage of when we had two season an
- 41:30Speaker 15: injuries Juan Gary Emmanuel Vandemouth both went down in the
- 41:33Speaker 15: middle of the year and then that's what gave him
- 41:35Speaker 15: the chance, and he worked so hard every day, got
- 41:38Speaker 15: in the gym, and that's what, you know, allowed him
- 41:41Speaker 15: to play well and then really earn a spot in
- 41:43Speaker 15: rotation from that point on. But he's been a part
- 41:46Speaker 15: of the turnaround. He saw this thing when it was
- 41:48Speaker 15: at its lowest, and you know, I'm really proud of
- 41:50Speaker 15: how he's helped us this get this thing flipped.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Coach, you are my final four pick. I selected you
- 41:57Speaker 1: out of the South bracket. I wrote it down in
- 41:58Speaker 1: pen I can't erase it. Uh So if you go
- 42:00Speaker 1: to the final four, I will see you in Indianapolis. Yes,
- 42:05Speaker 1: you're confidence all right, Thank you, congratulations to you.
- 42:09Speaker 4: I know it's a busy time. We appreciate a business trip.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Tell them not to sit around and watch basketball. Get
- 42:14Speaker 4: in the film room.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Let's go, right, coach, we're going to the final four,
- 42:17Speaker 1: me and you.
- 42:18Speaker 10: You got it, guys, thanks.
- 42:19Speaker 4: So much, Thank you.
- 42:20Speaker 10: Greg.
- 42:20Speaker 4: We want nothing to do with that.
- 42:23Speaker 5: He's on a business trip too, Stude.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Come on,
