- 0:00Speaker 1: Thank you sweet.
- 0:01Speaker 2: All Right, you're about to bring your Greatest Hits tour
- 0:03Speaker 2: to Australia. What can fans expect from the show and
- 0:06Speaker 2: how do Australian audiences compare to others who perform for.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Okay, starting with the show, Yes, it's the best of
- 0:17Speaker 3: that Man's Party tech.
- 0:19Speaker 4: So we're up really good time. We're going to play
- 0:22Speaker 4: all the classics.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We're not going to run away from any you know,
- 0:27Speaker 3: and play all the new songs. We're not going to
- 0:29Speaker 3: do any of that.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Right. We've started to tour.
- 0:36Speaker 3: At Christmas and we've put right the way through there.
- 0:42Speaker 4: We've been playing all over Europe.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Now we'll be down in Australia where they do like
- 0:49Speaker 3: to have fun.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I have noticed that they tried to be very similar
- 0:57Speaker 3: to Europeans. There's got much difference between the two and
- 1:04Speaker 3: so yeah, I'm looking forward to it. It's a very
- 1:06Speaker 3: good place to well play.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Awesome. We're so excited. And you've been part of the
- 1:11Speaker 1: scar scene for so long. What's one of the.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Biggest changes you've seen in the music industry that has
- 1:15Speaker 2: affected how you tour or make music.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Well touring Mice.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I mean, the Internet has obviously changed an awful lot
- 1:28Speaker 3: to do with the music business. Lots of people can
- 1:32Speaker 3: get music a lot deeper and a lot easier with
- 1:37Speaker 3: the invention of the computer. I think that as for
- 1:43Speaker 3: touring mice, the name gets.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Out there a little bit easier.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So we are actually seeing quite a beneficial rise in
- 1:52Speaker 3: numbers coming along to a bad Manners Joe, So I
- 1:56Speaker 3: would say to play twist our advantage at the moment.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, that's awesome. And I know what you're talking about.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's like you're able to reach newer, maybe younger audiences
- 2:06Speaker 2: as well because of the.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Age much younger.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Actually we see the difference in the clouds
- 2:12Speaker 3: that the clouds have become younger.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, oh awesome.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And look, you guys have been such a huge force
- 2:19Speaker 2: in the in skar music for decades. How does it
- 2:22Speaker 2: feel to be at the forefront of this movement all
- 2:24Speaker 2: these years later?
- 2:26Speaker 4: Well?
- 2:27Speaker 1: I didn't think.
- 2:27Speaker 4: There'll be the last covies really, but we pill are. Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I mean all the other bands I know that have
- 2:33Speaker 3: all broken up or the big girls, but we're still
- 2:38Speaker 3: on the same bandwagon, so to speak.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And how do you keep up that kind of energy
- 2:45Speaker 2: night after night on tour, especially these days.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Well, it is.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Becoming harder for me. I'm getting older now, but I
- 2:53Speaker 3: still give it mysel. Oh and once you're actually there
- 2:56Speaker 3: and the crowd are enjoying you and the music's playing,
- 2:59Speaker 3: you still get this sense of adrenaline run through your head.
- 3:04Speaker 3: And yeah, it seems quite easy to actually myself into
- 3:09Speaker 3: performance mode.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, that's good to hear that you still keep
- 3:13Speaker 1: up with it.
- 3:14Speaker 4: I do.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yes, Oh good.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And do you see any new trends or changes in
- 3:22Speaker 2: the scar scene today compared to when you first started,
- 3:26Speaker 2: well as in bands, I guess new ways of doing
- 3:30Speaker 2: things in this sort of genre.
- 3:34Speaker 4: No, I don't see.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Any new sort of ways of doing things. And I
- 3:37Speaker 3: do see differences in bands, yeah, that have come along.
- 3:42Speaker 3: There's a lot of new bands that I like and
- 3:45Speaker 3: a lot of new bands that I don't like.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes, And how did you first get into music and
- 3:53Speaker 2: the genre?
- 3:54Speaker 1: Like, how did you decide that that was what you
- 3:55Speaker 1: were going to do?
- 3:59Speaker 4: Well of school together?
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I had this very good idea of we need
- 4:05Speaker 3: to stay together as friends, and rather than going on
- 4:09Speaker 3: school reunions, I said, why don't we just form a band?
- 4:12Speaker 4: Yes?
- 4:13Speaker 3: And we can go out and start digging and playing music.
- 4:18Speaker 3: We can drink, we can chut out birds, we can
- 4:21Speaker 3: do all the things that always do doing bands.
- 4:25Speaker 4: And everybody liked.
- 4:27Speaker 3: The ideas so and it's gone now for fifty years.
- 4:30Speaker 3: So I feel quite honored that we've stuck to our guns.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, as you should. And what's one of the
- 4:36Speaker 2: wildest or most memorable moments you've had during a live performance?
- 4:45Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Sorry, big one.
- 4:47Speaker 4: That is a bit of a question. Is I can't
- 4:49Speaker 4: even remember how many people have.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Done now, but I would say that, you know, when
- 4:56Speaker 3: we play festival to one hundred and ten thousand people,
- 5:02Speaker 3: when it was making the cloud go crazy and dance,
- 5:07Speaker 3: that the actual earth was moving because we could see
- 5:10Speaker 3: the trees were actually swaying to the balance of the beam,
- 5:15Speaker 3: which is quite astonishing. Well, it was one hundred and
- 5:18Speaker 3: ten thousand people dancing, and so of course that was
- 5:22Speaker 3: moving the trees.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Jeez, that's nuts.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And outside of music, are there any hobbies or interests
- 5:28Speaker 2: that help you unwind while on the road or is
- 5:30Speaker 2: it all about music for you?
- 5:33Speaker 3: I liked to do I believe it or not, So
- 5:37Speaker 3: when I go home, I like to do a bit.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Of the why.
- 5:40Speaker 3: And I'm living on a houseboat in As at the moment,
- 5:44Speaker 3: which which is pretty famous last week for the big
- 5:50Speaker 3: fire that destroyed EVO. So that's that's a minute away
- 5:57Speaker 3: from me. Is the the power station that went down.
- 6:03Speaker 3: The whole place was covered in helicopters and fire engines
- 6:08Speaker 3: and policeman and w and ambulances.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Amazing.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It was wow. And you all you witnessed that all
- 6:16Speaker 1: from the houseboat.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I could see the helicopters. I could see
- 6:23Speaker 3: the sparks and the flames that was shooting across the
- 6:28Speaker 3: sky where they were. You know, the electric things were
- 6:32Speaker 3: setting off almost like fireworks. It seemed they were electric
- 6:39Speaker 3: cables and you could smell it. Oh my god.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I actually was trying to get to sleep because it
- 6:45Speaker 4: was after as well. We've got when it slide. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 4: and I tried to get to sleep.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I was pulling my head down and I was figuring
- 6:53Speaker 3: I could smell something burning. Yeah, the electric went off,
- 7:00Speaker 3: so then I couldn't work anything out what was going on?
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yeah, our friends told me. Do you know that it
- 7:06Speaker 4: was just around the holder from you?
- 7:09Speaker 1: That's nuts? And what you woke up? Did you wake
- 7:12Speaker 1: up the next morning?
- 7:13Speaker 2: And figure out what it all happened, or then.
- 7:16Speaker 3: The electric suddenly came on at two o'clock in the morning.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Was the last thing that I didn't turn up.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yeah, And so the news was instantly there and it
- 7:26Speaker 3: was like breaking.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Those Oh my goodness, that's yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I thought the claims, thought, oh, I know exactly where
- 7:35Speaker 4: that is. Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, oh that's crazy. And so you mentioned di I
- 7:39Speaker 1: y as well. Is that Do you do a lot
- 7:41Speaker 1: of projects within the house boat? Is that what you
- 7:43Speaker 1: kind of No, I've.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Got other properties in Bulgaria which I disappeared to when
- 7:51Speaker 3: I'm not touring. Yeah, I go over there and work
- 7:54Speaker 3: hard on So I haven't had a holiday in a
- 7:57Speaker 3: long time. I mean, I mean could say life has
- 8:01Speaker 3: become a bit of a holiday.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it.
- 8:05Speaker 4: I enjoy myself when I go abroad. Yeah, and I'm
- 8:09Speaker 4: lucky enough.
- 8:10Speaker 3: To be in a band that gets around a lot.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I use that as a holiday, yeah, which is a
- 8:17Speaker 3: great way to keep me go.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. That's it.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And with all the hits in your catalog, do you
- 8:24Speaker 2: have a personal favorite song to perform live or one
- 8:27Speaker 2: that gets the crowd absolutely buzzing every time?
- 8:32Speaker 4: There is many songs and bad manners to get the crowd.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say the one that really, you know,
- 8:39Speaker 3: power to it is Sally Brown.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, always a classic banger.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: And I actually have a bit of a personal connection
- 8:54Speaker 2: to you guys. My dad was friends with your old
- 8:57Speaker 2: tour managers Tommy and Mick back in the day, and
- 9:01Speaker 2: he met you all in passing and always spoke highly
- 9:03Speaker 2: of how amazing you were alive, and had nothing but
- 9:06Speaker 2: praise for your personalities. So it's really cool to see
- 9:09Speaker 2: that you guys are still going.
- 9:12Speaker 4: That's very good people in Australia or in England.
- 9:16Speaker 1: In England, Yeah, yeah, yes.
- 9:22Speaker 4: So it was Mick matsud I believe that's got to
- 9:27Speaker 4: be him.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe he managed a few other bands like
- 9:31Speaker 2: Flock of Seagulls and I don't know is a Flock
- 9:33Speaker 2: of seagum.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah, that was a cool connection.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one moment that stands out the most in
- 9:42Speaker 2: your mind from those iconic years of bad manners throughout
- 9:45Speaker 2: the seventies and eighties.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I suppose when I exposed my bottom to the Pope.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Classic.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just in that one of the most
- 9:57Speaker 3: silly moods and I had after Arry White, and I
- 10:03Speaker 3: wanted to go down very well.
- 10:06Speaker 4: So I noticed that the cloud was starting to seize.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Up a bit when we first went off, So I thought,
- 10:12Speaker 3: I know, I'll get this middle class, middle aged cloud going.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I shoved my bottle, which it did do. It made
- 10:19Speaker 4: them work a bit.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Pones, but I didn't realize that it was being terribised
- 10:24Speaker 3: and the Pope was watching.
- 10:27Speaker 4: So when I came off and everybody was so.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Shocked and we instantly made fame in.
- 10:33Speaker 5: The Oh my goodness, did you see any repercussions from that?
- 10:40Speaker 5: It has been Oh gosh, did you Did you guys
- 10:43Speaker 5: get in trouble for that at all?
- 10:45Speaker 4: Yeah? We did, Yeah we did, But I mean, what
- 10:49Speaker 4: how arrested for it?
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:51Speaker 4: Gee? And that he was watching it, he watching.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, that's crazy.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And I also see that you guys were banned from
- 11:01Speaker 2: Top of the Pops.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Yes, we got banned from Top of the box.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Yes, that was an unusual one where I painted my
- 11:08Speaker 3: head red.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Because I wanted. I wanted to perform as a Swan
- 11:14Speaker 4: vest of match. Don't ask me why, but I just
- 11:18Speaker 4: just got it in my head.
- 11:19Speaker 3: That that's what I want, and that's always sacked the
- 11:23Speaker 3: makeup woman. They said black, well, that's it. You're not
- 11:27Speaker 3: for Manson, never be.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Did Oh my goodness, that's a bit rough. Well because
- 11:37Speaker 1: you painted a rough.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 3: But what it's done is that it mucked up the
- 11:43Speaker 3: cameras because for some reason, if you haven't red and
- 11:48Speaker 3: it makes it look like I haven't got ahead.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Oh well I haven't heard that before, but there you go.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it's one of those happened tells.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Oh that's nuts. Our bus star. We can't
- 12:03Speaker 1: wait for the Aussie tour. It's been such a pleasure
- 12:06Speaker 1: talking to you today. Thank you so much for your time.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Thank you very much for giving meat time.
