- 0:37Speaker 5: Play games, you having to leave the field.
- 0:41Speaker 1: That game?
- 0:42Speaker 5: Yeah right, I mean that's you never had to take
- 0:44Speaker 5: a ways when you're pitching.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I wonder if that translates because when you're in Miami,
- 0:47Speaker 1: the heat comes from the sun right outside.
- 0:50Speaker 6: Where's the heat come from at other places? Still think
- 0:53Speaker 6: it's nine.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I heard you could tease it down to eight and
- 0:55Speaker 1: a half, but you tease it till like two, so
- 0:57Speaker 1: you get six. What Peebo, Samuel, it's Trent Williams.
- 1:01Speaker 6: Bat only one of us that has the computer open
- 1:03Speaker 6: in front of it.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It doesn't tell you anything.
- 1:06Speaker 5: It's not one of those kinds of computers.
- 1:07Speaker 6: Is that one of these computers with information they started
- 1:10Speaker 6: with dead?
- 1:11Speaker 1: And he's got his hands behind his head, laying there,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and his wife's wife says, what are you thinking about?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Connor McDermott.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I mean, you're like, you're totally not wrong.

- 1:35Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:40Speaker 1: at Gillette Stadium.
- 1:40Speaker 6: What's so fun that Conor McDermott is really good?
- 1:43Speaker 5: It was that?
- 1:45Speaker 4: Is it going to be? Connor McDermott right? Tackle other girls?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Deep thoughts? Evan, what do you want for dinner?
- 1:53Speaker 3: What?
- 1:53Speaker 6: Sorry, he's just thinking about.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Are they gonna sign Kyle Duggar or let him go?
- 1:59Speaker 4: And he sounds hit.
- 2:01Speaker 1: All right, Well, listen, we had a brief momentary, you know,
- 2:08Speaker 1: time in the sun, fun in the sun or whatever. Yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 1: it didn't last very long.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I can't tell whether you're talking about the win over
- 2:17Speaker 3: the bills being the sun.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Or because you were it's kind of both.
- 2:21Speaker 4: There's yeah, that's the play on words.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, our yeah, our good good times didn't
- 2:30Speaker 1: lasted last about a week and then we came back
- 2:33Speaker 1: to reality in Miami. I know a lot of people
- 2:37Speaker 1: are going to blame the refs, and the refs did
- 2:39Speaker 1: stink in that game. But I also feel like, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: I said to this, Evan, and do this earlier, I
- 2:45Speaker 1: feel like Miami stumbled into thirty one points, like they
- 2:48Speaker 1: didn't even play well and they ended up with thirty
- 2:50Speaker 1: one points. You know, so they were better and you know,
- 2:56Speaker 1: if everything had gone the Patriot's way, could they have
- 2:58Speaker 1: had a chance to win. Maybe, But like you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: it was we were outplayed, outmanned. Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I think it's just the we've been
- 3:07Speaker 5: talking about for two years. It's a narrow path to victory.
- 3:09Speaker 8: And I mean, I know Evan wrote along those lines
- 3:11Speaker 8: for his film review. Everything has to go right for them,
- 3:14Speaker 8: Everything has to go right and and and then they win.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You even won the turnover battle, yeah, in this one, right.
- 3:20Speaker 8: Well, even somebody you know, even a few things that
- 3:22Speaker 8: usually go wrong, like a slow start and the turnover battle,
- 3:25Speaker 8: Like usually those things go wrong, but those things won't right.
- 3:27Speaker 8: But it's still because you can't make take advantage of
- 3:30Speaker 8: any time somebody's open. If Mac misses somebody that's open
- 3:33Speaker 8: on a play. You know, it's like like those plays exist,
- 3:37Speaker 8: but not in consistent fashion, and you know he's just
- 3:39Speaker 8: not able to consistently do it, and they're just not consistently.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Able to few evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Matt,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and the booth will be talking Patriots until two and
- 3:50Speaker 1: what's next, Commanders.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Yeah, Montez, sweatless, sweatless.
- 3:54Speaker 1: But I you know, for me, no sweat, no sweat
- 3:57Speaker 1: for me. For me, that my nod came at the
- 4:00Speaker 1: end of the first half. When Mac threw that interception.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It was like, oh Mac, I even I think I
- 4:06Speaker 1: said it out loud. Oh Mac. Yeah, I think.
- 4:12Speaker 3: He said some things to himself too on the sidelines
- 4:15Speaker 3: the camera caught him and frustrated with himself.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but that, I mean, you had a chance to
- 4:20Speaker 1: maybe go in at the half tied up, and it
- 4:24Speaker 1: just turned it right around. So yeah, I don't know
- 4:28Speaker 1: what to say at this point, trade deadlines at four,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I don't think the Patriots will be sellers or buyers.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I think it'll be stay pat And this is what
- 4:39Speaker 1: we have for the rest of the season. Now Bourne's
- 4:42Speaker 1: you know, he's going to be out for the season
- 4:44Speaker 1: to a cl that's been confirmed, and then we don't
- 4:49Speaker 1: know if Parker is going to play. I doubt it, right,
- 4:51Speaker 1: he got a concussion history. I mean they took him
- 4:54Speaker 1: right off the field. Uh so I doubt he'll play
- 4:57Speaker 1: this week.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Maybe amstring, Yeah, just keeps on coming.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean the disappointing thing to me was I
- 5:06Speaker 6: wanted to see if they could build off of some
- 5:08Speaker 6: momentum and it wasn't. Necessarily you have to go down
- 5:11Speaker 6: to Miami and you have to go down and beat
- 5:12Speaker 6: the Dolphins. But like offensively in particular, I saw things
- 5:17Speaker 6: against Buffalo that they were productive for almost the entirety
- 5:22Speaker 6: of the sixty minutes, and they went to Miami against
- 5:27Speaker 6: the defense that's not great. It's probably better right now
- 5:29Speaker 6: than Buffalo's, considering all the injuries that Buffalo had, but
- 5:33Speaker 6: Miami was dealing with a lot of injuries on defense too,
- 5:35Speaker 6: and you really never were productive against Miami. You had
- 5:39Speaker 6: one drive down two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. You
- 5:43Speaker 6: know that you went eighty one yards on other than that,
- 5:46Speaker 6: it was a couple of short fields and punts. And
- 5:51Speaker 6: I thought that to me was my big takeaway. Disappointing wise.
- 5:54Speaker 6: Mac Jones, I thought took a step back from that
- 5:56Speaker 6: fourth quarter against Buffalo, and the offense as a whole
- 6:00Speaker 6: did so as well.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I there's so many different things that I, you know,
- 6:06Speaker 4: you could say about the offense I think in general,
- 6:08Speaker 4: U though, the you know, Mike's point that was kind
- 6:11Speaker 4: of the point I was trying to make an after
- 6:12Speaker 4: further review, is that their margin for error is so
- 6:16Speaker 4: tiny that even when I, you know, want to critique
- 6:20Speaker 4: Mac Jones, I'm talking about like four or five plays
- 6:23Speaker 4: that he missed downfield, and then he will turn on
- 6:27Speaker 4: the Dolphins film and toa might have four or five
- 6:30Speaker 4: of those plays a drive let let alone, you know,
- 6:32Speaker 4: in an entire game for four quarters. And that doesn't
- 6:36Speaker 4: excuse Mac for the fact that in this game he
- 6:39Speaker 4: read the field poorly, like he didn't see the field well,
- 6:43Speaker 4: and he missed a lot of downfield throws. I thought
- 6:45Speaker 4: he was sped up. I thought he turtled in a
- 6:48Speaker 4: few occasions when when the pocket collapsed late in the down.
- 6:53Speaker 4: I mean, I know that clip of Trent Brown kind
- 6:55Speaker 4: of giving up is going around and everybody is killing
- 6:58Speaker 4: him for it. It was seconds into the down, like
- 7:01Speaker 4: the quarterback's got to make a throw. And I'm not
- 7:04Speaker 4: excusing Trent for his effort on that play, but at
- 7:07Speaker 4: that point, I think he's probably thinking to himself, the
- 7:09Speaker 4: ball's got to be out by now. I mean we've
- 7:10Speaker 4: been blocking for four and a half seconds. And then
- 7:13Speaker 4: he turns around and Max on the ground and you
- 7:15Speaker 4: see his body language when he turns around. He's like, seriously,
- 7:20Speaker 4: like how do you how do you still have the ball?
- 7:22Speaker 4: And on the play, I think he had two open
- 7:25Speaker 4: receivers down the field if he just pulls the trigger.
- 7:27Speaker 4: I think the biggest thing when you look at you
- 7:30Speaker 4: know what Paul was kind of saying about carrying it
- 7:32Speaker 4: over from Buffalo, the confidence that I thought that they
- 7:35Speaker 4: would build up offensively from beating the Bills and the
- 7:38Speaker 4: game winning drive. He looked like somebody that was trigger shy.
- 7:44Speaker 4: And I just how is that those two things just
- 7:47Speaker 4: don't equate to themselves? Like how do you have this
- 7:48Speaker 4: like statement career victory the week before and then seven
- 7:53Speaker 4: days later you come out and you look like you're
- 7:55Speaker 4: playing scared again? Like those things just are are confusing
- 7:59Speaker 4: to me. And you know, I just I just look
- 8:01Speaker 4: at Mac now and there's just so many things that
- 8:05Speaker 4: you just want him to clean up about his game,
- 8:07Speaker 4: and it might be too much, Like it might just
- 8:10Speaker 4: be too many things footwork, my eyes, reads, decision making,
- 8:15Speaker 4: arm strength, just in general, it just it might be
- 8:20Speaker 4: too much to overcome. I think it just.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Needs a fresh start, like not here, but somewhere else.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I feel like he's just too broken right now to
- 8:28Speaker 3: fully like fix all those things that Ivan just mentioned here.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I think it's going to be too much to ask
- 8:33Speaker 3: of him, especially with like all the pressure that he
- 8:35Speaker 3: already has from himself, his coaches, the fans, just everyone,
- 8:40Speaker 3: just a bigger.
- 8:41Speaker 8: Like philosophical question of when a quarterback gets to this point, like.
- 8:44Speaker 5: How do you bring them back from the edge.
- 8:45Speaker 8: How do you get them like to focus downfield and
- 8:48Speaker 8: to you know, not be so jittery and the second
- 8:51Speaker 8: you know, things start to go wrong. I mean it's
- 8:53Speaker 8: it's all over the place. I mean, you don't you
- 8:54Speaker 8: don't need a degree in coaching to look at him
- 8:57Speaker 8: and be like, yikes, Like the second he just you know,
- 9:01Speaker 8: you can hear it like panic. I don't know how
- 9:04Speaker 8: you reset him. I mean, you know, short of tars
- 9:07Speaker 8: thing he keeps.
- 9:07Speaker 6: Talking about, you know, every every every Wednesday. He talks
- 9:11Speaker 6: about the need to keep his eyes downfield and he doesn't.
- 9:14Speaker 6: And I think Evan and Mike just pointed out a
- 9:17Speaker 6: lot of different plays. I go, you know, like what
- 9:20Speaker 6: can you take from Miami from Buffalo? And then like
- 9:23Speaker 6: they come out the first play and it's okay, so
- 9:26Speaker 6: we really got this Douglas thing going. Now let's so
- 9:29Speaker 6: let's do it. And you know the difference is Tehran
- 9:33Speaker 6: is a Taran or Tehran Johnson comes up against Buffalo
- 9:36Speaker 6: and is right there and Douglas just makes him miss
- 9:39Speaker 6: and he misses the tackle. And in this game, I
- 9:42Speaker 6: think it was ko who kay who? You know, Okay,
- 9:47Speaker 6: I was close. I like to go when I'm talking
- 9:50Speaker 6: about these things. Number seven for Buffalo and number four
- 9:52Speaker 6: for Miami. Number four for Miami comes up and drops
- 9:55Speaker 6: him for a four yard loss. He doesn't miss the tackle.
- 9:58Speaker 9: Was and.
- 10:00Speaker 6: And now it's second and fourteen, and immediately now the
- 10:04Speaker 6: first time that Mac is really going to drop back
- 10:06Speaker 6: to pass, it's long yardage and he's looking at the
- 10:09Speaker 6: rush and he's hurried, he's rushed, he's sort of spooked
- 10:14Speaker 6: a little bit. He's not looking downfield, and it's a
- 10:17Speaker 6: three and oh, yeah, I mean I think that sets
- 10:19Speaker 6: the tone for the game.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that. So the play the very first
- 10:23Speaker 4: play of the game, And this was a big thing
- 10:24Speaker 4: we talked about in our game preview that's gonna be
- 10:26Speaker 4: posted later this week. For Mac personally, I think that
- 10:30Speaker 4: Mac needs to establish a rhythm early on in the game.
- 10:33Speaker 4: If he has any adversity early on in the game,
- 10:36Speaker 4: it's snowballs on him and you lose them and that's it.
- 10:39Speaker 4: It's downhill from there. So against Buffalo, even though it
- 10:42Speaker 4: was only a field goal, they at least drove down
- 10:44Speaker 4: the field, got some first downs, hit some throws, and
- 10:48Speaker 4: then got into field goal range and got three points
- 10:50Speaker 4: out of their opening drive. Out of this drive, they
- 10:52Speaker 4: went backwards very first play of the game, they go backwards,
- 10:56Speaker 4: and I think that's just that's it for him, Like
- 10:58Speaker 4: as soon as he hits that adversity, it just all
- 11:01Speaker 4: kind of falls apart from there. And on the play
- 11:04Speaker 4: that Paul is talking about Miami, that was a play
- 11:08Speaker 4: of the Patriots had been running a ton over the
- 11:11Speaker 4: last couple of weeks. It's slammed flat to one side
- 11:14Speaker 4: and sticks to the other side. It's just a quick
- 11:16Speaker 4: game concept, get the ball out of his hands, and
- 11:19Speaker 4: the Dolphins just were ready for it, like they knew
- 11:21Speaker 4: it was coming and they had they were sitting all
- 11:23Speaker 4: over it. And I just felt like he just threw
- 11:27Speaker 4: it to Douglas because he was the guy in motion
- 11:29Speaker 4: and he was kind of just into this whole motion thing,
- 11:32Speaker 4: and he just threw the ball to Douglas when the
- 11:34Speaker 4: throat he should have really opened to the other side
- 11:37Speaker 4: and threw the ball to his right and he would
- 11:38Speaker 4: have had like a five or six yard gain on
- 11:40Speaker 4: first down.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we were saying right immediately afterwards, like it just
- 11:45Speaker 1: seemed like he was only seeing one half of the field.
- 11:48Speaker 6: You know, he really had a hard time throwing the
- 11:50Speaker 6: ball to the left.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the numbers he just never you know, just watching
- 11:54Speaker 1: his head, never seemed to look scan the field. Not
- 12:00Speaker 1: an excuse for Mac, but I don't think the offensive
- 12:02Speaker 1: line played well. Again, you know, you're looking at highlights
- 12:04Speaker 1: from other teams and there are times when other you know,
- 12:08Speaker 1: a quarterback can actually work from a clean pocket. You know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: our pockets from from the snap are well. But but
- 12:19Speaker 1: it wasn't. It wasn't in terms of like what it
- 12:21Speaker 1: actually But if you're the quarterback, you always see your
- 12:26Speaker 1: lineman backing up. It always seems like the pocket's coming
- 12:29Speaker 1: at you, you know, uh and.
- 12:31Speaker 6: If you're watching it, yes, but that's true.
- 12:33Speaker 1: But that right that doesn't mean that you can't you know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: step up or still you know, step into the ball
- 12:39Speaker 1: and make the and make the play. But rarely do
- 12:43Speaker 1: I see you know, him working from a clean pocket. Again,
- 12:46Speaker 1: that's not an excuse because you know a lot of
- 12:49Speaker 1: quarterbacks overcome that.
- 12:50Speaker 3: He just can't can't mean to ahead like essentially no
- 12:54Speaker 3: offensive line. I feel like halfway through the game, I
- 12:56Speaker 3: feel like, first of all, you start off with what
- 12:57Speaker 3: three guys missing on the left side, and then two
- 12:59Speaker 3: more went down during the game, and he still found
- 13:01Speaker 3: a way to you know.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Get I think the difference right now that's so stark
- 13:06Speaker 4: on the tape with Tua and Mac is Tua's ability
- 13:11Speaker 4: to anticipate receivers becoming open is uncanny. Like he's one
- 13:17Speaker 4: of the best in the league at anticipating throws, and
- 13:20Speaker 4: so he'll you know, I understand that it's easier to
- 13:25Speaker 4: throw a deep ball to Tyreek Kill than it is
- 13:26Speaker 4: to Jalen Rager. I fully understand that you can let
- 13:30Speaker 4: it go, trusting the fact that Tyreek Hill is gonna
- 13:33Speaker 4: beat the defense. Versus Jalen Rager, but they had almost
- 13:37Speaker 4: like identical plays. Tyreek Hill's forty two yard touchdown, he's even,
- 13:42Speaker 4: he's leaving right, and he was even, and Tua just
- 13:45Speaker 4: let it go, like he just let it go and
- 13:47Speaker 4: trusted that Tyreek was just gonna run underneath it. And
- 13:49Speaker 4: that's exactly what happened. And Mac had the same type
- 13:52Speaker 4: of reid and the same type of throw with Jalen
- 13:54Speaker 4: Rager and he just holds the ball, pocket collapses, sacked,
- 13:58Speaker 4: and it's just like two. The difference is that Tua
- 14:01Speaker 4: is like three steps ahead on every single play. You know,
- 14:05Speaker 4: he's throwing into zone coverages and guys are coming into
- 14:08Speaker 4: the second window and the ball is already on them
- 14:10Speaker 4: when they get into the second window. And in those
- 14:12Speaker 4: types of plays, I just feel like, yeah, don't And
- 14:14Speaker 4: that speaks not only just to Max Processing and his
- 14:18Speaker 4: decision making, but like there's no trust in anybody, Like
- 14:21Speaker 4: there's no like trust that, Okay, if I throw this
- 14:25Speaker 4: a beat early, that you're gonna run that route into
- 14:28Speaker 4: that void and you're gonna catch the ball and you're
- 14:30Speaker 4: gonna be there, whereas with Tua, like him and Hill
- 14:33Speaker 4: and Waddle are just like on this like different plane
- 14:35Speaker 4: of trust and anticipation.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I definitely agree that he doesn't have anybody that he
- 14:39Speaker 3: can trust, like if Jacoby was still here. And it's
- 14:42Speaker 3: hard to keep saying that, but if Jacoby was still here,
- 14:45Speaker 3: he would trust that Jacoby would be there because he's
- 14:47Speaker 3: gonna run the route, he's gonna get open, and he's
- 14:48Speaker 3: gonna get the ball and might only be for five yards,
- 14:50Speaker 3: but he's gonna be there and he can trust him.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Right now, I feel like he can't trust anybody, like
- 14:54Speaker 3: not Juju because he's who knows what's gonna happen. Then
- 14:57Speaker 3: you have Taekwon Thornton, who obviously was a healthy scratch,
- 14:59Speaker 3: but he's not runn his routes fully at full speed
- 15:02Speaker 3: DeVante Parker, you never know what's going to happen. There
- 15:04Speaker 3: probably probably going to be a pick. So it's like
- 15:06Speaker 3: it's tough because he doesn't trust anyone. He doesn't even
- 15:09Speaker 3: trust himself.
- 15:10Speaker 1: He hasn't he hasn't had enough success doing what to
- 15:13Speaker 1: what does to say okay, this can work?
- 15:16Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 15:16Speaker 8: I feel for Billy oh I wonder what it's like,
- 15:19Speaker 8: you know, going into a game knowing like that if
- 15:22Speaker 8: you know, if I call the wrong play or if I,
- 15:24Speaker 8: you know, get Mack into a situation like like, it
- 15:27Speaker 8: might all collapse on me. So it's like, you know,
- 15:29Speaker 8: we talk about what a narrow, you know, road to
- 15:32Speaker 8: victory it is for them to have to do so
- 15:33Speaker 8: much right, Like I feel like a lot of that's
- 15:35Speaker 8: on Billy Oh to make sure that the game unfolds
- 15:37Speaker 8: in a proper way and he doesn't call a play
- 15:39Speaker 8: that's going to get them in trouble or all of
- 15:41Speaker 8: a sudden get Mac looking at the rush right off
- 15:43Speaker 8: the bat. You know, it's like I can't imagine the
- 15:45Speaker 8: amount of thought he has to put into trying to
- 15:47Speaker 8: manage this game plan with him without you know, getting
- 15:49Speaker 8: them off the rails in the first possession of the game.
- 15:52Speaker 6: There seems like this just such a fragility to everything
- 15:55Speaker 6: they do offensively, and like Evan's point with the you know,
- 15:59Speaker 6: the margin of error, like TA comes out and the
- 16:05Speaker 6: first drive they put together, a decent drive, they get
- 16:07Speaker 6: on the field and they ended up taking a sack
- 16:09Speaker 6: and they get knocked out a field goal range, and
- 16:11Speaker 6: you know, next sack, I mean, the next possession he
- 16:15Speaker 6: could he couldn't have been worse. Like, he throws a
- 16:17Speaker 6: ball right to Kyle Duggar, who he's clearly fooled on
- 16:21Speaker 6: the play, throws the ball right into coverage. He couldn't
- 16:24Speaker 6: have seen him, so he got tricked, makes a terrible play.
- 16:28Speaker 6: And he comes back and goes like five plays seventy
- 16:30Speaker 6: five yards, throws a forty two yard touchdown at Tyreek Hill,
- 16:33Speaker 6: and everything is settled down, you know, in the third quarter,
- 16:37Speaker 6: they come out and they drop the ball, you know,
- 16:39Speaker 6: inside the twenty, and they get out of that. So
- 16:42Speaker 6: now it's a touchdown game. They probably feel like we're
- 16:44Speaker 6: absolutely killing this team. We're dominating in every aspect, but
- 16:47Speaker 6: we're only up by seven. And then they come out
- 16:50Speaker 6: and I'm just looking at the drive here and third down.
- 16:52Speaker 6: It's second and nine from the Miami forty six, and
- 16:57Speaker 6: he has like a little back shoulder throw on the
- 16:59Speaker 6: sideline to waddle with J. C. Jackson coverage. Wattle comes back,
- 17:04Speaker 6: perfect timing, throws perfect, Wattle drops it like you might
- 17:09Speaker 6: as well punt on third down.
- 17:10Speaker 1: If that's the Patriots. They had a lot of drop He.
- 17:13Speaker 6: Comes back and throws the next play to Wattle for
- 17:14Speaker 6: twenty three, who torches J. C. Jackson again, and they
- 17:19Speaker 6: eventually end that drive with a touchdown. They get out
- 17:22Speaker 6: and they restore order. You know, it's twenty four to ten,
- 17:25Speaker 6: and they really were never in trouble the rest of
- 17:26Speaker 6: the Again.
- 17:26Speaker 8: Don't blink at mistakes like you just I mean, it's
- 17:29Speaker 8: like one holding call and they're like, well, there goes
- 17:32Speaker 8: this drive. You know, it's just as soon as something
- 17:33Speaker 8: goes wrong, you kind of throw your hands up in there.
- 17:35Speaker 6: It's like that holding call. Like remember that the the
- 17:41Speaker 6: screen pass to Achmed that uh achmad, you know, the
- 17:45Speaker 6: illegal man down. Well, the reason why that was a
- 17:48Speaker 6: long yarded situation is because the Dolphins got call for
- 17:51Speaker 6: holding you down inside their fifteen yard line. Again, you
- 17:55Speaker 6: might as well punt if that happens to the Patriots, right.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I was a couple of things about We just
- 18:01Speaker 4: talked to O'Brien and I thought some of his comments
- 18:04Speaker 4: were pretty telling to that point. On the first third
- 18:08Speaker 4: down of the game, the third and twelve, he's you know,
- 18:10Speaker 4: pointed out and I had seen this too, that there's
- 18:13Speaker 4: spacing on the play down on the routes down the
- 18:15Speaker 4: field was horrible. The guys were I think Pop Douglas
- 18:18Speaker 4: and Devonte Parker ran the same route and ended up
- 18:20Speaker 4: in the same area. So there was really no choice
- 18:23Speaker 4: but for Mac to just throw a check down and pun.
- 18:26Speaker 4: But my frustration was that with that was like it
- 18:29Speaker 4: looked to me like they didn't even try to pick
- 18:31Speaker 4: up the first down.
- 18:31Speaker 6: That's what it looked like to me.
- 18:33Speaker 4: And third and twelve is like that's a death sentence
- 18:36Speaker 4: for just them, Like third and twelve is not that
- 18:38Speaker 4: it's not third and thirty, Like we're not We're not,
- 18:40Speaker 4: you know, we're not so far beyond being able to convert.
- 18:45Speaker 4: And they throw the ball ten yards, you know, short
- 18:49Speaker 4: of the sticks on like a little drag route to
- 18:52Speaker 4: Hunter Henry, who no offense, is not like a yack monster.
- 18:54Speaker 4: It's not like he's Deebo Samuel and he's gonna turn
- 18:56Speaker 4: up the sideline and blake break three tackles. And so,
- 18:59Speaker 4: you know, Brian said the spacing on that was not
- 19:02Speaker 4: not the way that they wanted and they got to
- 19:04Speaker 4: coach that better. And then he was also asked about
- 19:06Speaker 4: so I didn't I didn't realize this. And Andrew Callahan
- 19:09Speaker 4: pointed out Mac has not completed a twenty plus yard
- 19:13Speaker 4: throw in two weeks, hasn't even attempted. I think Callahan said,
- 19:17Speaker 4: I don't know if that's true, but he.
- 19:18Speaker 6: Hasn't thrown the ball twenty yards in the air. You mean, yeah, okay, he.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Hasn't thrown the ball past twenty yards in the air
- 19:24Speaker 4: in two weeks. And O'Brien said that in this game,
- 19:28Speaker 4: and I agreed with him based off the what I
- 19:31Speaker 4: saw was that they tried to throw the ball down
- 19:34Speaker 4: the field. They had some dialed up shot plays down
- 19:36Speaker 4: the field, and they didn't hit them. And to me
- 19:40Speaker 4: when he said it, and I know this wasn't his
- 19:42Speaker 4: intention necessarily, because I don't think that he's like this normally,
- 19:47Speaker 4: but he said, then some other things happened, and I
- 19:51Speaker 4: was like, some other things like the quarterback didn't make
- 19:54Speaker 4: the right reid on the three, you know what I mean.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Like it sounded like he was kind of saying that
- 19:58Speaker 4: the execution of the player. Maybe it wasn't just the quarterback.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Maybe he felt like some players was the offensive line,
- 20:04Speaker 4: or some plays was you know, the spacing of the
- 20:06Speaker 4: receivers or whatever. But this wasn't against Buffalo. I think
- 20:10Speaker 4: that that was the game plan, was to spread the
- 20:12Speaker 4: field horizontally, get the ball out quickly, you know, do
- 20:15Speaker 4: that sort of thing in this game against the Dolphins.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I think they tried to push the ball down the
- 20:21Speaker 4: field a little bit against Miami and they just couldn't
- 20:23Speaker 4: do it. And I don't I think that's even more
- 20:26Speaker 4: troubling than and they were trying.
- 20:28Speaker 8: Early in the year, right, Like, wasn't mac like the
- 20:29Speaker 8: one for chucking the ball down the field by then?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Were they were?
- 20:34Speaker 8: He had like, you know, some kind of advanced stat
- 20:36Speaker 8: rating or something about chucking it downfield. But I mean,
- 20:39Speaker 8: I mean, I can see why he's he's hesitating. I
- 20:42Speaker 8: just would I would, I would wonder, you know, he
- 20:44Speaker 8: is he just not seeing it?
- 20:45Speaker 5: Is he looking it off? Is he just not willing
- 20:47Speaker 5: to pull the trigger?
- 20:48Speaker 2: You know?
- 20:48Speaker 5: Like what why is.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Of like a bunch of those things. I think that
- 20:54Speaker 4: he has no trust in his arm talent none, And
- 20:57Speaker 4: so I think that the second that he feels like, oh,
- 21:00Speaker 4: you know, I gotta throw this to the from the
- 21:02Speaker 4: far hash into the sideline and like all the way
- 21:04Speaker 4: across the field, and like that's I can't do it.
- 21:07Speaker 4: That's not gonna get there. And then I think that
- 21:10Speaker 4: he he's just not seeing it quick enough or he's
- 21:13Speaker 4: sped up to the point where he's just canceling out
- 21:16Speaker 4: the downfield routes and immediately going to check downs. And
- 21:19Speaker 4: there was one thrower it was right from outside the
- 21:22Speaker 4: end zone after they recovered the fumble to start the
- 21:24Speaker 4: third quarter, DeVante Parker is just wide open on like
- 21:29Speaker 4: and he's he's beats Jalen Ramsey. He's wide open for
- 21:32Speaker 4: a touchdown and Mac, I don't even think look downfield.
- 21:35Speaker 4: He just immediately checked it down to Pop Douglas in
- 21:38Speaker 4: the flat. Didn't even bother hanging on.
- 21:40Speaker 1: The down What was happening around Mac?
- 21:43Speaker 4: I mean an NFL pocket, like you know.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I just I'm just wondering.
- 21:47Speaker 6: I think that. And I get your point, Fred, because
- 21:50Speaker 6: like you can look at the numbers and you can
- 21:52Speaker 6: sew well, you didn't have as much time. I don't
- 21:54Speaker 6: think there was really much difference between the offensive line
- 21:56Speaker 6: this week and last week. I think he sort of
- 21:59Speaker 6: holds the ball longer at times and created some of
- 22:04Speaker 6: the pressure. And I don't mean to have like they
- 22:06Speaker 6: have a lot of issues on offense, like they haven't
- 22:08Speaker 6: been able to run the ball all year either, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 6: and that's not his fault, but I do think that
- 22:16Speaker 6: he has sort of gone into one of those quarterbacks
- 22:20Speaker 6: that's really concerned about what's going on around him quickly.
- 22:23Speaker 6: And to Evan's point, and I've been saying this since
- 22:26Speaker 6: the like the heading into the Saints game, the way
- 22:30Speaker 6: that Dallas did it right away in that game, they
- 22:33Speaker 6: got pressure around him, they got the strip sack, and
- 22:35Speaker 6: he looked like he was spooked. The rest of the game.
- 22:38Speaker 6: Saints did the same thing. That would be my number
- 22:40Speaker 6: one goal every defense, every defense, I would send heat
- 22:45Speaker 6: after him early, get around him, make him get rid
- 22:48Speaker 6: of the ball. Even if you don't get there. He
- 22:50Speaker 6: might beat you once in a while, but even if
- 22:51Speaker 6: you don't get there, it seems to unsettle you.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It would help so much if he had even a
- 22:57Speaker 1: little bit of a threat of running. You know, when
- 23:01Speaker 1: things break down, he's gonna get five or six yards
- 23:04Speaker 1: with his legs.
- 23:04Speaker 5: At this point, he'd probably be just like, you don't
- 23:07Speaker 5: have to work.
- 23:08Speaker 1: You don't have But then but the other team doesn't
- 23:10Speaker 1: have to worry about that. Like even when he does run,
- 23:12Speaker 1: he's so slow, so Paul.
- 23:16Speaker 4: You know you mentioned like getting pressure on him early.
- 23:18Speaker 4: So second drive of the game, third down and three,
- 23:20Speaker 4: I think it was they sent that blitz in your
- 23:23Speaker 4: first round. Guard whiffs on the freaking blitz again the
- 23:26Speaker 4: second time that did fig Fangio has gotten him.
- 23:28Speaker 6: I was freaking blitz.
- 23:31Speaker 4: And so Mac actually gets the ball out to Ramandra Stevenson.
- 23:34Speaker 4: But it's just no chance. But he has three times. Yeah, right,
- 23:37Speaker 4: he just has no chance. And and those are like
- 23:39Speaker 4: the things that I think Fangio did in this game
- 23:42Speaker 4: for sure, was like send some pressure early and he
- 23:45Speaker 4: knew that he could get cold strange. I just can't
- 23:48Speaker 4: roll my eyes more on the same freaking scheme, and
- 23:51Speaker 4: they did, and that's exactly what happened. But I don't
- 23:54Speaker 4: mean to like pile on Mack either, because I feel
- 23:56Speaker 4: like I'm doing that. But I feel like that. You know,
- 24:00Speaker 4: talk to like offensive coaches. They say, you know, offense
- 24:03Speaker 4: personnel wise comes down to three things. You have to
- 24:05Speaker 4: have offensive line, skilled players, quarterback right. You need two
- 24:09Speaker 4: out of the three. You need two out of the
- 24:12Speaker 4: three to be above average to have a good offense,
- 24:15Speaker 4: and you can make up for some of the things
- 24:19Speaker 4: that are going on if the quarterback was better, right,
- 24:23Speaker 4: but the quarterback isn't better. So this collection of pieces
- 24:28Speaker 4: that the Patriots have is not good enough. Like it's
- 24:32Speaker 4: just so whether you want to put that on Mac
- 24:34Speaker 4: or you want to say, well, beef up the line
- 24:36Speaker 4: and beef up the receivers and go that direction, like
- 24:39Speaker 4: we've done that argument before too, but this combination of
- 24:45Speaker 4: things is going to be the worst offense in the NFL.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I'm concerned that even if you gave him a beefed
- 24:50Speaker 3: up offensive line and good weapons around him, that what
- 24:54Speaker 3: if he still didn't see the field? What if he
- 24:56Speaker 3: still didn't get the ball.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Well, you would assume that because he has more time,
- 24:59Speaker 1: he he would look more, you know, but there's no
- 25:02Speaker 1: guarantee in that. But you're just assuming that the reason
- 25:06Speaker 1: why he's not seeing the field is because he's only
- 25:09Speaker 1: seeing the past.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Just like at this point, it's like it's the NFL.
- 25:11Speaker 3: It's only getting faster faster and faster, and so like
- 25:15Speaker 3: people's defenses are just going to get better and better
- 25:17Speaker 3: and better, and it's like.
- 25:18Speaker 5: What are you going to do?
- 25:19Speaker 8: I know, I mean I've been along the lines of
- 25:21Speaker 8: it's it's going to take a lot to for mac
- 25:23Speaker 8: not to at least be in the mix next year.
- 25:26Speaker 8: But right now, it's just each game you're starting to
- 25:28Speaker 8: feel like he's he's really broken right now, and it's
- 25:30Speaker 8: I'm starting to wonder.
- 25:31Speaker 6: I don't think he's going to get traded by four.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Did he get traded.
- 25:34Speaker 8: I did see a report that him some Ezekiel Elliott
- 25:39Speaker 8: interest out there.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yeah, one of one of our callers. And I don't
- 25:42Speaker 1: know like who he is or where he gets his information.
- 25:45Speaker 1: J Schultz from He says his phone is blowing up
- 25:50Speaker 1: with reports about getting traded.
- 25:53Speaker 4: All your group texts.
- 25:55Speaker 5: My phone blew up a little bit. But it's hard one.
- 25:58Speaker 5: They only have two running back on the roster.
- 25:59Speaker 6: I don't know how they and I mean I think
- 26:02Speaker 6: I think Zeke largely has come as advertised. He's been
- 26:05Speaker 6: a good, complimentary.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Piece, great I could understand why a contender would want
- 26:10Speaker 4: him as like a second running back. But another thing
- 26:13Speaker 4: that's been just bugging me the fact that they never
- 26:17Speaker 4: got a third down back in this offense in the
- 26:19Speaker 4: offseason is absolutely malpractice. Like the sact that everybody's saying
- 26:25Speaker 4: that DeVante Parker was open on which he wasn't like
- 26:27Speaker 4: just stop, all right. He's standing there, he's staring at
- 26:31Speaker 4: Rimandre Stevenson, who has one on one with Bradley Chubb,
- 26:35Speaker 4: a pass rusher like that. That's a matchup that your
- 26:38Speaker 4: running back should be able to win in some space
- 26:40Speaker 4: and get open for you the quarterback. And he's just
- 26:42Speaker 4: standing there holding the football, waiting for Remondre to break
- 26:45Speaker 4: and Remondre just kind of does like a little of
- 26:47Speaker 4: this and then just goes nowhere and Bradley Chubb just
- 26:50Speaker 4: swallows him up. And then Mac takes a sack.
- 26:52Speaker 6: And it's like when you're talking about first possession of
- 26:55Speaker 6: the third quarter when it took over and yeah, so
- 26:57Speaker 6: this is what will give you a peek inside the
- 26:59Speaker 6: postgame show. So that play happens, and Fred, I don't
- 27:03Speaker 6: know if you were watching the broadcast like you usually do,
- 27:07Speaker 6: Adam Manta Letter immediately goes he's just got to let
- 27:10Speaker 6: the ball go. He's got DeVante Parker wide open here.
- 27:13Speaker 6: That's why everybody is saying this. So they show the replay.
- 27:16Speaker 6: Now he comes across the field. There's zero there was
- 27:19Speaker 6: a zero excuse for him getting sacked. All he had
- 27:23Speaker 6: to do is throw it to Parker. I'm not even
- 27:26Speaker 6: positive he gets the first down. He was not quote
- 27:30Speaker 6: wide open. Now there's a guy window, you could put
- 27:33Speaker 6: it on him and then maybe Parker breaks a tackle,
- 27:36Speaker 6: you get the first down. But my point was just
- 27:38Speaker 6: that give it to him. Make it fourth and one.
- 27:43Speaker 6: If the kid comes up and makes a tackle, and
- 27:45Speaker 6: now you can go for it. You take a sack
- 27:47Speaker 6: and you have to kick the field goal, just like
- 27:49Speaker 6: you cannot take the And I know, like the only
- 27:53Speaker 6: one that's talked about Stevenson on this play. I know
- 27:55Speaker 6: that like Tom Curran made a similar comment as you.
- 27:58Speaker 4: It's just like that to me on that particular play,
- 28:02Speaker 4: like he made the right read like, yeah, his eyes
- 28:05Speaker 4: were in the right place on the play and by
- 28:07Speaker 4: the time he would make, you know, come off for
- 28:10Speaker 4: Andre to get to Parker, Parker's covered at that point.
- 28:13Speaker 4: So it's like if he had started on Parker and
- 28:16Speaker 4: just like stared at it and didn't throw, then I
- 28:19Speaker 4: guess you could make that argument. But if you have,
- 28:22Speaker 4: you know, Bradley Chubb is in some space against James
- 28:24Speaker 4: White instead of Remondre Stevenson, that's probably a touchdown. Like
- 28:27Speaker 4: he probably shakes him at the top of the route
- 28:29Speaker 4: and runs away from him. But they don't have a
- 28:31Speaker 4: player like that on this team, and they have two
- 28:34Speaker 4: guys and Zeke and Ramandre who are just powerbacks trying
- 28:37Speaker 4: to catch the ball on third down. And it's just
- 28:39Speaker 4: like I there, they have no running back depth. So
- 28:43Speaker 4: like these all these rumors about Zeke, okay, you can
- 28:45Speaker 4: play Kevin Harris like they have no depth at that position,
- 28:49Speaker 4: and they won't play and they won't play Time Montgomery
- 28:52Speaker 4: in the third down back role for some reason that
- 28:55Speaker 4: I can't explain. I'm done, thank you.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It's crazy. On the other side, you know, I know
- 29:01Speaker 1: it probably wouldn't have made a difference in the result,
- 29:03Speaker 1: but this was a game where I really did think
- 29:08Speaker 1: that they missed Gonzales and Jude On. I think they
- 29:10Speaker 1: would have made a difference on you know, quite a
- 29:13Speaker 1: few of these plays.
- 29:14Speaker 8: I mean, Gonzales just in that first game against him,
- 29:16Speaker 8: he just stood out because he can move like he
- 29:18Speaker 8: has movement skills that are I'm not going to say
- 29:20Speaker 8: on Tyreek Hill's level, but like in that kind of
- 29:23Speaker 8: elite of athleticism. And you're right, they need they need
- 29:26Speaker 8: Gonzales back. They need more of that in the second area,
- 29:28Speaker 8: and they certainly.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Certainly didn't help missing those guys, and I think Judon,
- 29:33Speaker 6: I think they wanted to try to get some heat
- 29:35Speaker 6: on him. And you know, Tamara made the point about
- 29:37Speaker 6: the offensive line.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I mean, you.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Basically had an entire offensive line of backups, and then
- 29:45Speaker 6: two of those guys got hurt during the game and
- 29:47Speaker 6: you were down to third stringers, and you still didn't
- 29:50Speaker 6: really I mean, there were times where they made them
- 29:52Speaker 6: sort of pull the ball down and move a little
- 29:54Speaker 6: bit get off his initial read, but not not that often.
- 29:58Speaker 6: And they certainly missed having judeh en Uch, you know,
- 30:04Speaker 6: potentially being there. You know, I thought, to be honest
- 30:09Speaker 6: with you, I didn't think the defense played well. I'm
- 30:11Speaker 6: not trying to make this out to be anything different,
- 30:14Speaker 6: but I think that was about as good as you
- 30:16Speaker 6: could expect. You know, they were missing some pieces and
- 30:20Speaker 6: the other team's just better than you offensively. I thought
- 30:22Speaker 6: it was very similar to the first game. The difference
- 30:24Speaker 6: is they got a touchdown instead of missing the two
- 30:27Speaker 6: field goals, So I think it could have been thirty
- 30:29Speaker 6: in the first game thirty one in this game. I
- 30:32Speaker 6: thought that Ta for the most part, completed passes any
- 30:35Speaker 6: time he needed to the difference in this one is
- 30:38Speaker 6: they weren't able to run the ball. I thought the
- 30:40Speaker 6: front was pretty good, that key On White was pretty
- 30:42Speaker 6: good in this game. I thought to Bay was pretty
- 30:45Speaker 6: good in this game. And it was Dougler's best game
- 30:47Speaker 6: probably the season. I want to ask Evan something about
- 30:49Speaker 6: dugger Did you not pay attention?
- 30:52Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 30:53Speaker 6: Okay, So I want to ask was he not did
- 30:57Speaker 6: they have any change for him? Like was he near
- 31:00Speaker 6: or around closer to the line of scrimmage in this game?
- 31:03Speaker 6: And that's why we noticed him a little more. But
- 31:06Speaker 6: I also want to get to is that why, like
- 31:08Speaker 6: mate Mapu is back in.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Yeah, they've been using.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Kill coverage.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've been using Jalen Mills a little bit
- 31:15Speaker 4: more at deep safety too, to allow Peppers and Duggard
- 31:18Speaker 4: to play closer to the line of scrimmage.
- 31:21Speaker 6: You can't see this on TV. You can't see like
- 31:23Speaker 6: the safety.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I hear you. Kyle Duggart's game to me
- 31:27Speaker 4: was I didn't really think that he played all that
- 31:30Speaker 4: much better than he usually does. I just think the
- 31:32Speaker 4: ball found him in this game.
- 31:35Speaker 6: I like the tackles, I wasn't really tough like the Yeah,
- 31:38Speaker 6: it'd be like me saying infony Jennings had a great
- 31:40Speaker 6: gick y. He happened to be standing there way when
- 31:42Speaker 6: when two guys dropped the ball at his feet. But
- 31:45Speaker 6: I thought Dugger made a couple of tackles that were
- 31:47Speaker 6: riminious enough the plays that he made last year, So.
- 31:49Speaker 4: He made some good you know, they had some good
- 31:52Speaker 4: communication on some pre snap motion, especially down by the
- 31:55Speaker 4: goal line on one of the tackles that he made,
- 31:57Speaker 4: where you know, if the guy came out one side
- 31:59Speaker 4: of the formation, Peppers was going to take him from
- 32:01Speaker 4: the other side, and if he came out to Dougger's side,
- 32:03Speaker 4: then Duggar was going to take him. And they pass
- 32:05Speaker 4: it off well, and Dugger made that tackle in the flat,
- 32:08Speaker 4: but he still gets lost in zone coverage, but you
- 32:10Speaker 4: know he's playing like short zone.
- 32:11Speaker 6: So yeah, I just was wondering if there was maybe
- 32:13Speaker 6: a little bit of a change to that deep center field,
- 32:16Speaker 6: which he was kind of invisible for the most part
- 32:18Speaker 6: in the first seven games. I noticed him a lot
- 32:20Speaker 6: more in this one. But then I started saying to myself, geez,
- 32:23Speaker 6: you know, me and Evan been talking about momp poo
- 32:25Speaker 6: a lot. Yeah, that didn't look so cool.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Well, maybe play him at his natural position. Maybe we
- 32:30Speaker 4: could start there, which they're clearly not doing because Brian
- 32:32Speaker 4: Belichick basically confirmed today that he's been in the safety
- 32:35Speaker 4: room this entire time. So sweet, good job on that one.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Well, because they're getting prepared to let Dougar walk free
- 32:42Speaker 6: agents that he give it him, like, you know, four years,
- 32:44Speaker 6: forty million or something.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I give the defense credit in this game. I thought
- 32:49Speaker 4: in the first game, we kind of talked about this
- 32:50Speaker 4: a lot, that they just kind of played soft zone.
- 32:53Speaker 6: And you know, they tried something different this game.
- 32:56Speaker 4: They tried to stay stand in the middle of the
- 32:58Speaker 4: ring with Miami. I thought they played some plays early
- 33:02Speaker 4: in the game.
- 33:03Speaker 6: You know, I thought the results were similar, but they
- 33:05Speaker 6: got there in a different way.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, they they force a punt on the
- 33:07Speaker 4: opening drive, eventually they get to pick. You know, they
- 33:11Speaker 4: had a little bit more production defensively in this game,
- 33:14Speaker 4: and they played a lot more man coverage. They blitzed
- 33:17Speaker 4: a lot more like they tried to play a real
- 33:20Speaker 4: like game plan. And I'll give the defense to that credit.
- 33:23Speaker 4: For the last two weeks, like they they're shorthanded, they
- 33:26Speaker 4: have injuries on that side of the ball, and they're
- 33:28Speaker 4: missing two of their best players. But if they're going
- 33:30Speaker 4: to go down, they're going down swinging like they came
- 33:33Speaker 4: after Josh Allen, and they've they were more aggressive against
- 33:36Speaker 4: Miami in this game than they were the first time around.
- 33:38Speaker 4: So at least, like you can say that they're standing
- 33:41Speaker 4: in the middle of the ring with these teams and
- 33:42Speaker 4: if they're gonna lose, they're gonna lose swinging.
- 33:44Speaker 6: And I'd expect that to continue because Washington's allowed the
- 33:47Speaker 6: most sacks in the league.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Not to you know, blame the refs, but I do
- 33:51Speaker 1: want to talk about the performance of Paul's guys out there.
- 33:54Speaker 6: I hate the rest.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I still somebody please, I still don't understand and the
- 34:00Speaker 1: reason why for the ineligible man downfield rule, Like why
- 34:04Speaker 1: do we have that rule?
- 34:06Speaker 6: Like but that doesn't have anything to do with Reugh hatred. No, no,
- 34:09Speaker 6: But they don't understand why there's a rule.
- 34:11Speaker 1: No I know, but there was one where they they
- 34:13Speaker 1: you know, picked it up and one where they actually
- 34:16Speaker 1: called it. But why is there that rule anyone?
- 34:21Speaker 6: I don't know why you need ten yards? So for
- 34:24Speaker 6: a first time, I don't know why there's a lot
- 34:26Speaker 6: of rules.
- 34:26Speaker 4: So the ineligible downfield the way that I like. So
- 34:31Speaker 4: I actually asked O'Brien about the RPOs the Patriots have
- 34:34Speaker 4: been running, and he mentioned that a lot of them
- 34:37Speaker 4: are predetermined pre snap. He called them advantage throws because
- 34:41Speaker 4: you're not the RPO rules in the league is it's
- 34:45Speaker 4: just one yard, so he's I think the biggest thing
- 34:48Speaker 4: is is that you know, if they allowed, like College
- 34:51Speaker 4: allows two yards and then like a grace, honestly, like
- 34:54Speaker 4: it's kind of like turned two turns into five real quick.
- 34:57Speaker 4: And these offenses just run these RPOs with the eligible
- 35:00Speaker 4: men downfield, and like these guys are run blocking like
- 35:03Speaker 4: five yards down the field, and then they got slants
- 35:06Speaker 4: coming in from the outside and it's just impossible to defend.
- 35:09Speaker 4: So I think it's one rule that they're actually keeping
- 35:11Speaker 4: in the rule book to help defense, which is surprising,
- 35:15Speaker 4: but that would be my best case for the rule.
- 35:19Speaker 4: What I hate about the rule is that they because
- 35:21Speaker 4: quarterbacks drop back so far on screens, the refs never
- 35:25Speaker 4: get it right on the field and then New York
- 35:27Speaker 4: buzzes down and says pick up them. And I know
- 35:29Speaker 4: that the Patriots benefited from this against Buffaloes.
- 35:31Speaker 9: I'm not.
- 35:32Speaker 4: I hated both ways, like either stick with the call
- 35:35Speaker 4: on the field like or don't. But this whole eye
- 35:38Speaker 4: in the sky thing, it's there's no transparency, it's not
- 35:42Speaker 4: legislated in any sort of way. The refs aren't held
- 35:44Speaker 4: accountable for missing the original call in any sort of way.
- 35:47Speaker 4: So now we just like they're acting like they knew
- 35:49Speaker 4: all along. After some discussion, I agree with that.
- 35:53Speaker 6: It's like, come on, just tell us that you know
- 35:54Speaker 6: you got buzzed from from upstairs. Because I liked the
- 35:58Speaker 6: fact that they picked up the David Andrews one, and
- 36:00Speaker 6: I know it was a huge play in the game.
- 36:02Speaker 6: The pagers probably don't win the game if they don't
- 36:04Speaker 6: do that, but I liked. I don't like good plays
- 36:08Speaker 6: being erased on technicalities. Now I would feel differently if
- 36:13Speaker 6: the guy is downfield making a key block in front
- 36:15Speaker 6: of the ball carrier that led to the big play.
- 36:19Speaker 6: That wasn't the case with David Andrews. That wasn't the
- 36:21Speaker 6: case on Sunday either, So I didn't really have any
- 36:24Speaker 6: problem with either one of those flags being picked up.
- 36:27Speaker 1: But then there was hit on Parkers.
- 36:28Speaker 6: I can't believe Parker I mean, I can believe it,
- 36:31Speaker 6: but I thought it was a penalty.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Terrible non call there. And I thought there were two
- 36:36Speaker 1: bad calls on the Patriots. I thought the PI on
- 36:40Speaker 1: Jackson in the end zone where he was behind, like
- 36:44Speaker 1: he hit him with his chest, he grabbed his jersey,
- 36:49Speaker 1: it didn't effect. It was nothing. It was it was
- 36:51Speaker 1: terrible call. And then the other bad was a non
- 36:55Speaker 1: call just not calling. Uh, these Miami guys, you know
- 36:59Speaker 1: they're in it's illegal motion. I mean you can't like turn,
- 37:05Speaker 1: you can't turn toward the line of scrimmage and keep going.
- 37:08Speaker 1: You have to come to a style.
- 37:10Speaker 6: No, no that I that they're going like the CFL thing,
- 37:14Speaker 6: they're going forward. I didn't know that.
- 37:16Speaker 4: I'm fine with because first well mostly just because it's
- 37:20Speaker 4: fun and.
- 37:23Speaker 6: But I didn't see that.
- 37:25Speaker 4: I thought where you were going with it was the
- 37:27Speaker 4: time that two guys motioned at the same time.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Well it was on that same play though, on that same.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Play, So tell me no offense. But I think I
- 37:37Speaker 6: might get like more of an impartial look at this.
- 37:40Speaker 6: Can you tell me what we're talking about?
- 37:41Speaker 4: So there is a play I believe it was in
- 37:44Speaker 4: the second half where the running back and a wide
- 37:46Speaker 4: receiver both go in motion at the same time at.
- 37:50Speaker 6: The snap, just before the snap.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Oh okay, but you can't motion at the same time, regardless.
- 37:55Speaker 6: It happens all the time.
- 37:56Speaker 4: You can't motion at the exactly like in unison, at
- 37:59Speaker 4: the exact same time. And then he motions and he
- 38:01Speaker 4: guys can't move at the same time, and they can't.
- 38:03Speaker 6: It happens all the time.
- 38:04Speaker 4: They can't.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 38:05Speaker 4: And they never call it, and they guys.
- 38:07Speaker 6: Are shifting and moving. You never saw it, but they were.
- 38:10Speaker 4: They were coming in motion. And then they didn't set
- 38:12Speaker 4: before the ball was when and.
- 38:15Speaker 1: One guy actually turned toward the line. It was on
- 38:18Speaker 1: that same play.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean Belichick was irate on the side
- 38:23Speaker 4: and I but I totally believe that he was right
- 38:25Speaker 4: about it. Like they so they motioned at the same time,
- 38:29Speaker 4: and then immediately, like everybody on the Patriots defense is
- 38:33Speaker 4: like like hands up, like what's going on here? And
- 38:36Speaker 4: then they motioned at the same time. Neither one of
- 38:38Speaker 4: them really gets set when the ball is snapped. And
- 38:43Speaker 4: then when they you know, they go in in Fred's right,
- 38:46Speaker 4: like you know, then one guy kind of you know,
- 38:47Speaker 4: does that cheap motion and sort of starts vertically at
- 38:51Speaker 4: the line of scrimmage, and and you know it was
- 38:54Speaker 4: that entire play was illegal, Like the whole pre snap
- 38:57Speaker 4: was illegal. All of it was illegal.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Where Bill was livid about the one the downfield. He
- 39:03Speaker 1: wasn't upset, so he's like, well, if he's not upset,
- 39:05Speaker 1: then I guess it wasn't a penalty. So but he
- 39:09Speaker 1: was livid on that play.
- 39:10Speaker 6: Yeah, they showed the replay of the downfield on the screen,
- 39:14Speaker 6: and it was really close, like he was like a
- 39:17Speaker 6: They say it's like a yard of the line of scrimmage.
- 39:19Speaker 6: He was probably within a yard of the line of scrimmage.
- 39:21Speaker 6: But to Evan's point, I don't think the referees got
- 39:24Speaker 6: together and said no, no, no, I saw him. He
- 39:26Speaker 6: was only no. Someone's clearly making that call from upstairs,
- 39:30Speaker 6: which is I think exactly the same thing that happened
- 39:32Speaker 6: last week in the Buffalo game. I think the guys
- 39:34Speaker 6: on the field were calling it and someone upstairs said,
- 39:36Speaker 6: don't don't call that. He's not So it's the back
- 39:41Speaker 6: foot of the blocker, correct, It's his back foot within.
- 39:45Speaker 4: The yard, within a yard of the line of scrimmage
- 39:47Speaker 4: when the ball leaves the quarterback's hands. So that's a
- 39:50Speaker 4: really tough judgment call.
- 39:53Speaker 6: It's like throwing up a forward pass past the line
- 39:56Speaker 6: of scrimmage. And like everybody gets this wrong. Like if
- 39:59Speaker 6: the quarterback back foot is still parallel to the line
- 40:02Speaker 6: of scrimmage, he can be all the way over the
- 40:04Speaker 6: line with the ball, but that back foot is still
- 40:07Speaker 6: touching the line of scrimmage.
- 40:08Speaker 1: It's it's legal. So just explain to me. If they
- 40:10Speaker 1: didn't have this rule, what's the advantage for the offense.
- 40:15Speaker 8: I mean, I guess you could just let your offensive
- 40:17Speaker 8: line boot run down the field.
- 40:21Speaker 6: They're not eligible, but they're blocking people, Okay, so there's
- 40:26Speaker 6: nobody there to make a tackle.
- 40:27Speaker 1: So offensive line can block people.
- 40:30Speaker 6: Not downfield, No, not on a pass.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I mean, well, if they're not blocking.
- 40:34Speaker 6: You have like eight guys to block.
- 40:36Speaker 1: But wait a minute, if they're if they're blocking downfield,
- 40:39Speaker 1: they're not blocking the lineman but is already gone.
- 40:42Speaker 3: This is making me think about the blind side when
- 40:45Speaker 3: he blocks the man all the way down the field.
- 40:47Speaker 5: How they're running everything makes you think, I.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Know, but that was running so the ball is already
- 40:53Speaker 1: gone right blocking him all the way down.
- 40:55Speaker 6: But if they're already downfield when like they're all set up,
- 40:58Speaker 6: they don't care about the lineman. They're letting the lineman
- 41:00Speaker 6: in right, it's a screen, yep. So if you'll let
- 41:03Speaker 6: the guys downfield now they're in position to block before
- 41:06Speaker 6: the ball is thrown. Okay, yeah, okay, so evidently you're
- 41:10Speaker 6: fine with that.
- 41:10Speaker 1: I thought football was the game of blocking.
- 41:12Speaker 6: I thought the defense should at least have a chance
- 41:13Speaker 6: to try to make a stop at some point. Everything
- 41:15Speaker 6: else is totally for the offense.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Because when you're watching college football on Saturday, if you
- 41:21Speaker 4: have a chance just when they run like RPOs that
- 41:25Speaker 4: they don't call that They just don't call it in college.
- 41:27Speaker 4: And these guys, these linemen are like five seven yards
- 41:31Speaker 4: down the field and there's just no way to stop it.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Like if you know it's a post snapper red so
- 41:37Speaker 4: the quarterback and just hand it off based off the line,
- 41:39Speaker 4: and there's just no way to stop these plays. And
- 41:41Speaker 4: that's why, you know, O'Brien said this morning, the Patriots
- 41:45Speaker 4: don't run as many of those like college style RPOs
- 41:48Speaker 4: because of the NFL rule of a legal man downfield.
- 41:51Speaker 4: So it just sort of takes away that that advantage
- 41:53Speaker 4: like Paul is talking about on screens and then with
- 41:56Speaker 4: RPOs this all goes back to like the wing t
- 41:58Speaker 4: and stuff like that, and that's every spec your like.
- 42:00Speaker 1: But if you're a defense, don't have a rule, but
- 42:03Speaker 1: it is no I know. But if you're a defense
- 42:05Speaker 1: and all of a sudden you see linemen breaking out down,
- 42:08Speaker 1: you know what the play.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Is, right, and that's what sometimes just run by him.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Sometimes the defensive lineman stopped rushing on screens like Vince
- 42:17Speaker 6: will fork and going out and sometimes they're able to
- 42:20Speaker 6: intercept them.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I don't like. Yeah, that's I mean, I understand, like
- 42:24Speaker 1: if you're down there and you're set up already engaged
- 42:27Speaker 1: in the block, it's a lot harder for the defense.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I get that, but I don't know this should be
- 42:32Speaker 1: a way to combat that. And it's a telltale sign
- 42:36Speaker 1: if all of a sudden the linemen break out. You know,
- 42:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 42:40Speaker 5: No, I like that you're asking the question, fred, is
- 42:42Speaker 5: I think it's worth you know.
- 42:43Speaker 6: I just I just don't look at it any differently?
- 42:45Speaker 6: Is why do you go to get a first out?
- 42:47Speaker 6: Like I don't know why all the rules.
- 42:50Speaker 1: I know, but at some point there wasn't that rule,
- 42:53Speaker 1: you know, like in the forties or fifties or whatever,
- 42:56Speaker 1: and then they made that rule to counteract something that
- 42:58Speaker 1: was happening that wing t, you know, was it the
- 43:01Speaker 1: wing tea?
- 43:02Speaker 4: The way, so the wing T was like the first
- 43:04Speaker 4: option football before, like we call them RPOs now they
- 43:08Speaker 4: were doing. Navy was doing RPOs and the wing tea
- 43:11Speaker 4: like fifty years ago, right like that, and the they
- 43:14Speaker 4: had these different types of blocks that we see now
- 43:16Speaker 4: and guys are getting up field and then there's little,
- 43:19Speaker 4: you know, options off of it, and they weren't throwing
- 43:21Speaker 4: all these like downfield routes and stuff like that that
- 43:24Speaker 4: it's evolved to. But yeah, the wing tea was was
- 43:27Speaker 4: a game changer, and they made a lot of these
- 43:29Speaker 4: rules because of that.
- 43:30Speaker 6: Okay, Freddie just wants all offense all the time.
- 43:32Speaker 1: No, I just I'm just curious, you know, I get it.
- 43:36Speaker 6: I say the same thing. I don't know why certain
- 43:38Speaker 6: things are the way they are, But it seems like
- 43:41Speaker 6: you think it like there's some kind of nefarious.
- 43:43Speaker 1: No, not just you know, like I want to know, like,
- 43:46Speaker 1: is it a rule that's seen its day and it
- 43:49Speaker 1: should be revised?
- 43:50Speaker 6: I think it probably should be enforced more like interference,
- 43:53Speaker 6: like certain penalties are like, well, of course that's.
- 43:55Speaker 8: A penalty in football, But I like that. You're just like,
- 43:58Speaker 8: why where did that originate from? Of you know, the
- 44:00Speaker 8: offensive line can't suddenly go downfield?
- 44:02Speaker 1: Like what's the what's the genesis of it? Just I
- 44:05Speaker 1: just want to understand it.
- 44:06Speaker 6: I I personally think it's about eligible receivers. And I
- 44:10Speaker 6: think if you start having like literally nine guys downfield
- 44:13Speaker 6: and now the defense on the fly has to identify
- 44:15Speaker 6: which ones I have to cover and which ones don't.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Don't you do that before the snap?
- 44:20Speaker 6: Fred? I'm talking about like if you just wildly.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I know. But if David Andrews downfield, I know he's
- 44:27Speaker 1: not eligible.
- 44:29Speaker 6: It's easy to say.
- 44:29Speaker 4: I mean, it's got a beard.
- 44:32Speaker 6: I don't know, kind of kind of seemed to bother Baltimore.
- 44:34Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 44:36Speaker 4: I just like how I've tried to give him actual
- 44:39Speaker 4: logic and.
- 44:39Speaker 6: It doesn't matter because he just he just wants to
- 44:41Speaker 6: know why. I mean, I don't know why, Like.
- 44:44Speaker 5: The center is eligible on the play, that would be weird.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Okay, but you have to say that, Fred, know that's
- 44:50Speaker 1: not possible, all right? Eight five five Pass five hundred
- 44:54Speaker 1: is the ACE ticket hotline, web radio at pages dot
- 44:56Speaker 1: com as the email address Patty's and Agua. What's up?
- 45:01Speaker 11: Stop everyone?
- 45:02Speaker 9: Hey?
- 45:03Speaker 12: Hey, I got a couple of questions.
- 45:06Speaker 13: First one is kind of crazy, but would this being
- 45:10Speaker 13: the tread deadline? Like if you look look at our
- 45:14Speaker 13: remaining schedule, I think the only team that has worse
- 45:17Speaker 13: weapons than we do might be the Giants, right he
- 45:20Speaker 13: maybe trade for a guy? Forget about whose quarterbacks the
- 45:23Speaker 13: team this year? But do you just trade for somebody
- 45:25Speaker 13: to possibly like a Jerry Judy type or someone of
- 45:28Speaker 13: that ilk so you have a weapon like going into
- 45:31Speaker 13: next year. And my second question is, knowing what we
- 45:35Speaker 13: know now halfway through the season, is there anyone that
- 45:39Speaker 13: you guys thought that you wanted to resign before the
- 45:42Speaker 13: start of the season, that you would want to resign now?
- 45:44Speaker 13: And I'll take the answer off the here.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Okay, thanks, I'd like to resign Anthony Jennings. I think
- 45:49Speaker 5: that's a good you know, won't but won't break the bank.
- 45:52Speaker 5: He's a solid guy.
- 45:53Speaker 8: It's not gonna move the needle a lot, but just
- 45:55Speaker 8: a guy I think that they need for depth and
- 45:57Speaker 8: you know, just some a little bit of continuity, especially
- 46:00Speaker 8: with you know, Jude On and everything.
- 46:01Speaker 1: What about Big Mike just to have you know, because
- 46:04Speaker 1: this might be David Andrews last year too. By the way,
- 46:07Speaker 1: I don't know, you know who knows.
- 46:08Speaker 4: I don't know why he keeps coming back to this to.
- 46:10Speaker 1: You you know, so it's really dark just a little bit.
- 46:14Speaker 4: I mean, Devin mccordy literally said that, like its off season,
- 46:17Speaker 4: why am I coming back? We're not winning a Super Bowl?
- 46:19Speaker 4: Like that was his words out of his mouth.
- 46:21Speaker 1: So like just somebody coming back on the old line,
- 46:24Speaker 1: you know, that is good.
- 46:26Speaker 8: I mean there's so many conversations to have, and I
- 46:27Speaker 8: mean everybody wants to just jump immediately to you know,
- 46:30Speaker 8: we're picking third overall and who we're going to take,
- 46:32Speaker 8: you know, like it's just it's it's it's hard, and like,
- 46:34Speaker 8: you know, part of me is like, well, you really
- 46:36Speaker 8: got to be reasonable with your assets, and you know,
- 46:38Speaker 8: all this talk of guards and first round guards and
- 46:41Speaker 8: all this franchising tag guards.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Like I think I'm getting to the point where I'm like, hey,
- 46:45Speaker 5: City Soul looks pretty good at right guard. How about
- 46:48Speaker 5: that next year? And like we'll just set it and
- 46:49Speaker 5: forget it if he's a tackle, yeah.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Yeah, But you know in terms of like I rating
- 46:54Speaker 1: for a Jerry Judy or a weapon. Now, I don't
- 46:57Speaker 1: know this, but I have a feeling that Robert Crafts said,
- 47:00Speaker 1: we're not doing anything for twenty twenty four yet.
- 47:02Speaker 4: See I would trade for Jerry Judy, but I am
- 47:04Speaker 4: a Judy guy. But I think to Patty's point, you
- 47:09Speaker 4: can't fill all of the holes in one off season, like,
- 47:12Speaker 4: even with all the cap space that they're going to have.
- 47:15Speaker 4: So whether it's Mac Jones, or it's Drake may or
- 47:17Speaker 4: it's Michael Pinnix or whoever throwing him in the football,
- 47:21Speaker 4: at least like you'll have a couple of receivers that
- 47:24Speaker 4: are NFL caliber receivers for the next guy to throw
- 47:27Speaker 4: the ball to. Because if you're drafting a quarterback in
- 47:29Speaker 4: the first round, you're not drafting a receiver in the
- 47:31Speaker 4: first round, right, So you have to find that receiver
- 47:34Speaker 4: someplace else. So, whether it's trading for Judy and then
- 47:38Speaker 4: signing T Higgins and going all out for you know,
- 47:41Speaker 4: skill challenges what I would obviously do, but we know
- 47:43Speaker 4: who wouldn't like that would be you know, we'd have to.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Get there probably at least a second for Judy, right, you'd.
- 47:49Speaker 4: Think maybe like a third. I think maybe, you know, I.
- 47:52Speaker 6: Don't think you would be much Yeah, one.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Year, right, can we just give them taipewe.
- 47:58Speaker 4: And it's just the point is that you know, you're
- 48:01Speaker 4: trying to, like, you have to be able to have
- 48:05Speaker 4: something for the next quarterback to walk into, because if
- 48:09Speaker 4: you just do this all over again, then you're just
- 48:10Speaker 4: gonna ruin the next guy and then you're just gonna
- 48:12Speaker 4: be in this cycle forever. I would also I would
- 48:15Speaker 4: sign Big mic I would definitely sign him. I think
- 48:18Speaker 4: if you had true sierum Bill Belichick, even though this
- 48:21Speaker 4: wouldn't be on the top of my list of things,
- 48:23Speaker 4: letting Joe Toney walk I think would be something that
- 48:26Speaker 4: they would call him.
- 48:27Speaker 1: The Preacher brother. I mean, I was, I was right
- 48:29Speaker 1: there with you. They should have extended him at the time.
- 48:32Speaker 4: He's going to be an all pro with the Chiefs,
- 48:34Speaker 4: like not a pro bowler, an all pro with the
- 48:36Speaker 4: Kansas City Chiefs. One of the best guards in the NFL.
- 48:40Speaker 1: And I think even if he's not the best guard,
- 48:43Speaker 1: he was a versatile guard and he was solid. You know,
- 48:47Speaker 1: just pay him like that, and you know that's where
- 48:50Speaker 1: they're all to me, that's where their O line issues started,
- 48:54Speaker 1: right not.
- 48:55Speaker 6: I think the same thing, only for entirely different reason.
- 48:57Speaker 6: You start sinking money into guards and then you get
- 49:00Speaker 6: to this situation. Yeah, they overextended for Shaq Mason and
- 49:03Speaker 6: they over extended for Joe Toney. They're both I think
- 49:06Speaker 6: excellent players. I think they're both excellent players. I don't
- 49:10Speaker 6: think you win with guards.
- 49:11Speaker 4: I just don't know how.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Like you certainly don't win with bad linemen, right.
- 49:14Speaker 4: He definitely don't win with a bad offensive line.
- 49:16Speaker 9: Right.
- 49:17Speaker 6: There's a lot of teams that are doing it somehow,
- 49:19Speaker 6: I know.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I think you're overstating that, all right, Paul. He's saying
- 49:22Speaker 1: that because he's hungry. So we'll be right back after this.

- 50:39Speaker 16: Down patter shifted by Dugger, he makes the primate on
- 50:43Speaker 16: the ground of rises to its past them thirty five love,
- 50:45Speaker 16: We're still out his height before he shoved on the
- 50:47Speaker 16: near side by handles.
- 50:49Speaker 1: So they killed him with the sun.
- 50:51Speaker 9: They took too Katula and to see them what's not.
- 50:54Speaker 18: There if Douggar's just sitting there underneath the trail rout recognition,
- 50:58Speaker 18: They double tea tyreek hill and he threw a lame
- 51:01Speaker 18: duck right to top Kyle Duggar right over the middle.
- 51:04Speaker 16: And it makes you wonder too, how much the sack
- 51:07Speaker 16: of farm more the patrons of Jilany to start to
- 51:09Speaker 16: generate pressure, got to tungue by lower there your he
- 51:12Speaker 16: ran his rolph behind dunder.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Sorry about that.
- 51:14Speaker 5: You're looking for more of a chunk right now instead
- 51:17Speaker 5: of the point hitter.
- 51:17Speaker 9: So that's six yard loss. Oh now we need another
- 51:19Speaker 9: fifteen yards to get a think on.
- 51:21Speaker 16: Matt takes it on third and four. He stands in
- 51:24Speaker 16: and throws a gun. Cord catches time and throws lit
- 51:26Speaker 16: it on back into the down touch down pump them
- 51:30Speaker 16: takeaway for the Matriots.
- 51:32Speaker 9: Where the hell is this offense? Ben trips right.
- 51:35Speaker 18: They run a double post to the right side. They
- 51:38Speaker 18: drag Bard. He's wide open that he sets close an
- 51:41Speaker 18: easy pop to him and it's smooth selling cork Chatrick
- 51:45Speaker 18: borne off the way into the end zone.
- 51:47Speaker 9: Patriots up early there he goes Willsie in motion for
- 51:51Speaker 9: the right play fake again Buck my low loads up,

- 52:05Speaker 1: No one I knew they're.

- 52:09Speaker 17: don't you about the big play? He actually geared down.
- 52:12Speaker 17: He had a beat by another two yards.
- 52:14Speaker 1: He actually had to slow.

- 52:45Speaker 9: This is on too.
- 52:45Speaker 1: He's gotta be able to see that.

- 53:21Speaker 9: the Dolphins right now, that's the word point.
- 53:23Speaker 17: You look at the weather, see how many guys taking

- 54:24Speaker 9: They'll take a.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Sack because I thought, you know what, maybe we're past that.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Thank god, aren't you.
- 54:30Speaker 16: They're good Vireos printing left hand off the moster loose
- 54:34Speaker 16: the Gonds.
- 54:35Speaker 9: We got it, an opportunity, we got it.
- 54:37Speaker 16: A need to recover a loose ball off the match
- 54:40Speaker 16: Gallard skies check them Jennings and Forredy Jennings there for
- 54:45Speaker 16: the Patriots and Fredy Jennings recovering. The Dolphins never make
- 54:49Speaker 16: the clean exchange. Tunguel blow up and most are and
- 54:52Speaker 16: the Patriots get a gift to start the second hand
- 54:55Speaker 16: lazy by two of Kit they're just not so well.
- 54:57Speaker 1: He gives the ball out one happen there. Let's stays golf.
- 55:01Speaker 5: It's not ready to go.
- 55:02Speaker 1: You're ready to go.
- 55:03Speaker 16: Up doing something with this ball, takes the step, give
- 55:07Speaker 16: him most of runs and left and he see Waltson
- 55:10Speaker 16: touched down.
- 55:10Speaker 20: My dy.
- 55:14Speaker 18: Kick field goals all day long, and we've been on
- 55:17Speaker 18: the other end of that for twenty years.
- 55:19Speaker 9: We laughed. The teams would get down after great opportunities.
- 55:23Speaker 9: Then you know what we'll take three years. I guess
- 55:25Speaker 9: it's the points.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Let's just get some points.
- 55:28Speaker 9: Might start chasing double digits again.
- 55:31Speaker 4: Because you choose to kick focals ad.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I'm l you have the choice.
- 55:35Speaker 9: I'll be afraid to put the ball vertical two up.
- 55:39Speaker 9: Let's coming. Matt Roship to go left, falling kick in
- 55:42Speaker 9: but we're not buckled it to anigable path and throw
- 55:45Speaker 9: to Parker who had got.
- 55:46Speaker 16: Death and Sean Elliott came up closing in a hurry.
- 55:49Speaker 16: Parker went down and rising to his feet, goes down.
- 55:54Speaker 16: Now the's down, Tako Ba dropping back, He's pressured and
- 55:57Speaker 16: he strange it right forard Hawk.
- 55:58Speaker 9: Bet he's hit my device. It's the tackle runs right
- 56:01Speaker 9: side past the thirty outside of the thirty five before
- 56:04Speaker 9: he's finally clipped down.
- 56:06Speaker 10: There is a flag on the play and I was
- 56:08Speaker 10: a player downfield.
- 56:09Speaker 4: Cop back of the sixty penalty or now it's.
- 56:14Speaker 9: The Dolphins again. Backtrack to the officials to mark the
- 56:18Speaker 9: penalty off.
- 56:19Speaker 1: And if you can't get off the floor.
- 56:27Speaker 17: Oh you are special, man, your crew is special.
- 56:32Speaker 9: You marked it off, went back, and then you decide
- 56:34Speaker 9: it's not it's not valid. Are you kidding me?
- 56:39Speaker 1: They didn't even need about it like last week when
- 56:42Speaker 1: they waived it.
- 56:44Speaker 9: You got to be kidding me.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Oh man, we're in.
- 56:48Speaker 9: A different, different stratosphere with these refs. They can ruin
- 56:52Speaker 9: a game.
- 56:53Speaker 4: Boy, this league can ruin a game.
- 56:59Speaker 16: Fourth and old to go from the three raggers, let's
- 57:03Speaker 16: to their mind. Schmid, Schuster and Henry Kasiki ail.
- 57:07Speaker 9: In a bunch left and many.
- 57:08Speaker 10: In the gun bag left of Joe's before than going
- 57:11Speaker 10: to go.
- 57:12Speaker 16: The play clock is down to two, it's down to one.
- 57:14Speaker 16: The stat Joe throws it right. Why don't you used
- 57:17Speaker 16: to Shuster touchdown? Patriots?
- 57:22Speaker 1: We had that one on Draft Kings.
- 57:24Speaker 17: Who odds of that one had to be a one
- 57:27Speaker 17: plus plus twenty five hundred Draft Kings is.
- 57:30Speaker 16: David h catch at first touchdown as a Patriots.
- 57:35Speaker 9: I like the concept.
- 57:36Speaker 17: It's Miami does right, run at bunch left, he does
- 57:40Speaker 17: a little reset, motes in a little return.
- 57:42Speaker 1: Then it's just sweep across and there it is. That's something.
- 57:44Speaker 9: Flip at the tyree kill see me stat go my
- 57:47Speaker 9: little playmate, I don't have a little wine up to
- 57:49Speaker 9: the water off and run to me arline.
- 57:51Speaker 16: Let's do it here he so up start a bus
- 57:55Speaker 16: and boys, he's gonna celebrate with his teammates.
- 57:59Speaker 9: Plus income head mass you on the penguin walk. Jones
- 58:05Speaker 9: leads forward, takes the snaw, dropping back pressure. He's wrapped up.
- 58:09Speaker 9: He throws the ball high.
- 58:10Speaker 16: Downfield and now Brandon Jones of Miami leaping to knock
- 58:13Speaker 16: it down. And then there's gonna be a hit in
- 58:17Speaker 16: a flag with Smith, Schuster and Douglas.
- 58:20Speaker 9: What there for the Patriots?
- 58:23Speaker 16: We will trying to break up a potential interception. Jones
- 58:26Speaker 16: is going up at the fourth down play Brandon Jones
- 58:28Speaker 16: a nearly headed an interception to start this series in
- 58:32Speaker 16: a boy life. And now you've got oh good players
- 58:37Speaker 16: spelling out the golfant sideline.
- 58:38Speaker 9: And Dolphins are coming off their bets. Look at this
- 58:40Speaker 9: They're gonna get thrown out of the gate. They got
- 58:43Speaker 9: personnel coming off their bets.
- 58:44Speaker 16: I'm gonna seen this the Dolphins spelling off their sideline
- 58:49Speaker 16: flat floor.
- 58:51Speaker 9: At Smith, Schuster and Douglas.
- 58:53Speaker 5: Were walking back toward the near side.
- 58:55Speaker 16: Meanwhile, Jones is being attempted to buy the medical team
- 58:59Speaker 16: for Miami near the forty YARDMOK.
- 59:03Speaker 9: Several times. We've got some more here going on today.
- 59:06Speaker 9: There have been very small skirmishes, but now things are
- 59:09Speaker 9: heating up. Jack Jerry roll Bill's out there now.

- 1:01:17Speaker 4: DeVante Parker and Mike Gasicki as his number one and
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: number one receiver.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: Your own weapons, and I'm still beating the Patriots.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: It's incredible.
- 1:01:26Speaker 9: Ye.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: So uh yeah, eleven and six is still in play.
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: It's in play.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: We got the Commanders, yeah, and we got the Colts.
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: I told everybody that I shared that with you during
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: the post game show the other day. I was texting
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: back and forth with Fred. I was surprised to get
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: the on the immediate response. I figured you'd be on
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: the plane.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: On the pregame show. What was the thing that you
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: because I wasn't really listening. What was the thing that
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: you guys were like cracking up about on the pregame show.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Hardy couldn't even talk, he was laughing.
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: I don't remember, No, I don't remember.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: I don't remember that.
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: Oh okay, yeah, there was a moment where it was
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: the quality when I was on the other show.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: No, you were cracking up, like for a while, you
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: guys were speechless.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: Shoot, I don't know.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: I do not know what part of the show that was.
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: Oh, that might have been it. So the Miami Dolphins
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: dot Com guy.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Wait a second, don't talk no crap about he's a friend.
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: No, no, no, he's been on the show twice.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: We love him.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: Okay, but his name is Travis Wingfield, so he has
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: some fun. But that's saying, you know, so where did
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: you prep? You know, and things like that. The yacht
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: team was a good sport about it. Absolutely totally knew
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: what we were doing.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: It was this must have been a laughter.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: We talked in the press box because you know, we
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: always say hi to each other with these games, and
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: he didn't say that, you guys, we were talking smacks.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: So I wonder if he realized that it was the
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: same ship. He probably doesn't, but really he did the
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: same bit for week two to really good guy like yeah,
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: and brought a lot of good stuff too.
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: I like he's got nice succinct responses.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: It's it's that's that's how we're different. Yeah, but maybe
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: we'll talk about this off the hair. But him and
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: I have great conversations about working for people that have
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: worked for this or organization, and it's it's it's hilarious.
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Okay, eight five five past five hundred. Let's get to
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: the phones. We'll go to Eldred, North Carolina. What's up, Eldred.
- 1:03:30Speaker 12: Aldred Ladies, Hey, gentlemen, how y'all doing all right? Hey,
- 1:03:37Speaker 12: I don't know what to begin, but ud yo, I'm
- 1:03:40Speaker 12: gonna ask you a question. Okay, scenario, just a scenario.
- 1:03:44Speaker 12: What's the left of the post game show?
- 1:03:46Speaker 10: When they left got came on? He said, Great Mac
- 1:03:51Speaker 10: to Minnesota? Right, so you said, who would you get
- 1:03:54Speaker 10: to day?
- 1:03:55Speaker 12: I gotta I got an answer for that.
- 1:03:57Speaker 10: Why not Great Mac Minnesota go to go to Atlanta?
- 1:04:02Speaker 10: Give a fourth or fifth round to carry Heinicky?
- 1:04:05Speaker 12: Has he already been in the system and didn't go
- 1:04:07Speaker 12: from there and didn't try to get another quarterback next
- 1:04:09Speaker 12: year because.
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: What he's playing, he's scared.
- 1:04:12Speaker 9: I'm sorry.
- 1:04:12Speaker 10: Yeah, he didn't been hit for Atlanta.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Atlanta kind of needs Taylor Heiniekey, when was Taylor Heinick
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: was in Houston? I know he was here for.
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: Back with Brady yea, he was here for Heinick.
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: Yeah he was Wow.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: I don't know if I would necessarily say that that
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: that you know, equates to him knowing the system already,
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: but he was here for a minute.
- 1:04:34Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: Well man, Yeah, we got rid of like practice squad
- 1:04:38Speaker 6: a minute.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: I agree with Eldred, Like I like, I'm just I'm
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: troubled by Mac right now.
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: And I think what I'm like just most like Matt
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: about right now is just like going out spending you know,
- 1:04:49Speaker 8: millions of dollars on a journeyman quarterback this offseason and
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: is that guy ever going to be part of the future?
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: And you know, so I'm just kind of stuck between
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: like like there's just a part of me that's like
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: that much. But no, I know, but but he was
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: here for like but it's something I.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Said to it. I said he was here for a minute.
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: I know, but that's that's like nothing and you are
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: you young guys.
- 1:05:10Speaker 9: That's all I know.
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: And I'm like, so if he's not going to win
- 1:05:13Speaker 8: a quart a super Bowl, Mac's not going to win
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: a super Bowl.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: It's gonna be kind of so.
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: How much are you gonna like use for the rebuild
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: money to get like this stop gap veteran quarterback who's
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: never really going to be expected to do anything for you?
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: Like, look, I understand the point.
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: It's just that's what I'm I'm stuck where it's like
- 1:05:28Speaker 8: i'd rather just like there's and and I don't think
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: this is right to just say we should just stick
- 1:05:32Speaker 8: with MAC.
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: Like, I'm not trying to add my stop gap guy
- 1:05:34Speaker 6: has to accompany whoever I think is the future. So
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: if I want to stick with MAC, then I don't
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: need any stopgap guy. But if I move on from
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: MAC and I get a stop gap guy and I
- 1:05:47Speaker 6: draft somebody in the twenty four draft, that's like I
- 1:05:52Speaker 6: could I could live with that.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, but is that like.
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: How much is that really? Like like let's just use
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: Taylor Heineke how much?
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: Not a stop gap?
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: He's backup?
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: So like who though, you know, like I just and
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: that's what like Kirk Cousins Like, and I'm like, no,
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: is that like any different now?
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: That's that's over now, Like not that it never was.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: But you're signing Kirk Cousins to be your quarterback, Like
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: you're not, like, k Kirk Cousins not a stock.
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: You're gonna have to pay him, right, But we're all
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: are we all thinking that Kirk Cousins is going to
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: come here with a rookie wide receiver and win a
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: Super Bowl? Like I'm like, you know, so it depends
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: who the rookie wide receiver is like, if it's Marvin Harrison,
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: why not because I think Kirk Cousins is probably I
- 1:06:29Speaker 6: don't think clicks better than Mac Jones.
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: And I'm like, how much do I have to pay?
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: I thought I was disrespect I think like at the
- 1:06:36Speaker 8: end of the day, they're both gonna end their career
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: with zero super Bowls.
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: They're both gonna end their career with a couple of
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: you know, so is Jus Russell? Is there like a
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: similarity between.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: And you're that's and that's where and that's where the
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: line cousin Jared got Jared.
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: I think so that's I mean he's playing well.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I mean, I think they're both.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: I think that's a spider man. Mean, I think that
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: is I think that is U close. I think this
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: is a so can I give you a different quarter?
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: You got to eat at launch?
- 1:07:08Speaker 21: I think I think Jared Goff now with the Lions,
- 1:07:12Speaker 21: has a chance. He's good to win a Super Bowl.
- 1:07:14Speaker 21: He's gotten a lot better, a lot better. Okay, go ahead, one.
- 1:07:21Speaker 10: Okay, I have you keep you keep beating the drums
- 1:07:24Speaker 10: from may Or or whatever the dude name is.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: Anybody else.
- 1:07:29Speaker 12: Who beat me a couple of weeks ago, quarterback.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: If you want a Day two guy. Sure, I don't
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: think he says. So here, here's my my scenario. That's
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: because Taylor Heineke like, please Kobe Brissett.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: No, see, I would say please to that.
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: So if you are going to draft a quarterback like
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Drake may or Pannix for one of those guys, I apologize,
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: and you signed Jacoby Brissett as his back, and then
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: let's say maybe if they're not ready, immediately, Jacoby Brissett
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: starts the first four games six games of the season,
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: and that way there, you don't need to throw the
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: quarterback into the fire, right.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: But I mean, there's a number of people that I
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: think could fill that role, and that's a fine.
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: But but that's a guy that actually knows the system,
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: not Taylor Heineke. He was here for a cup of coffee.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: I thought you is a stock. But yeah, yeah, but
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: that's why I apologized.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: And maybe it was just because he was young at
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: the time. But even though Jacoby knew the system at
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: the time, he couldn't run the offense. They they had
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: to totally change what they were doing when he was
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: in here.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: But they're I think they're gonna totally change what they're doing.
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: If they draft one of these college guys, gonna have
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: to I know you're not gonna well, but.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: But what whoever they think is the future. I want
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: the offense built around that person, correct, not around Jacoby correct.
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: But it's gonna be the same.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Okay, that's fine, as long as it's the same.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gonna be one of the would that.
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: Be now that's it. Just get back out of the
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: building scenario.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Yea, yeah, I don't. I don't think you would want
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: to sit here as the backup, like, yeah, Mac is.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Not because a lot of people have said, you know,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: keep Mac, pay him the fifth year whatever, and then
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you know, going to camp if the kids not ready,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: have Mac play and then the kid takes you know.
- 1:09:16Speaker 9: I agree.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I don't know if that's gonna work.
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: I can tell you with certainty that there isn't still
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: an affection for Jacoby Brissett.
- 1:09:23Speaker 9: Yeah in the building.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why I brought him up.
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: I don't.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: I don't hate that.
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: I don't hate that.
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: Great great like not as a backup, like a great
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: locker room guy and like a veteran presence in the room,
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: like a lot of those boxes being checked with a
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: guy like Brissette.
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean that that probably makes the most sense
- 1:09:39Speaker 8: with a get Mac out of the building scenario. I just,
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: you know, and I mean Paul brought up, you know,
- 1:09:43Speaker 8: JaMarcus Russell, you know, jokingly, but like, but that's where
- 1:09:46Speaker 8: the line is, you know what I mean, It's like,
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: how much do you want to invest in a guy?
- 1:09:50Speaker 8: And how much better is he really gonna make it?
- 1:09:52Speaker 8: And and look, and I'm on the fence right now
- 1:09:54Speaker 8: with Mac because I feel like he is in a
- 1:09:55Speaker 8: dark place right now and he might be broken for
- 1:09:57Speaker 8: good and that means all bets are off. But I'm
- 1:10:00Speaker 8: much do you want to invest in a guy that
- 1:10:01Speaker 8: probably never going to do anything here, probably never.
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: Really going to actually get you the playoffs?
- 1:10:05Speaker 20: Like?
- 1:10:05Speaker 8: How can you get around having to waste money just
- 1:10:07Speaker 8: spinning your wheels at the quarterback position?
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: Is there any way to use that money that you
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: know is so valuable right now for a team that
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: needs multiple pieces and to be fixed in multiple places.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: You know, It's just it just seems a little bit
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: like a fifth year that money.
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: I mean, well, I'm I mean, we're like Jacoby Brisset
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: is not going to cost you anything, No, I and
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: I know that, like it's.
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: A fine line between like how much is like nothing,
- 1:10:28Speaker 8: but it's something you know, and you're still going to
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: have to sell it as this is who we are
- 1:10:32Speaker 8: signing to probably be the stop gap, right.
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: I can guarantee you you're not going to win a
- 1:10:36Speaker 6: Super Bowl spending two million dollars in your quarterback because
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: he ain't good enough. So you got to you got
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: to understand that you're going to have to spend more
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: money on your quarterback, whether you want to go big
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: and obviously this is different now because of the injury
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: and get Kirk Cousins, who's going to cost you, you know,
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: upwards of thirty five to forty million, or if you
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: want to go the medium route with with Jacoby Brissett,
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: who's gonna cost you what ten You'll give them if
- 1:11:03Speaker 6: you give them an opportunity to start, you got to
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: give him some money.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Well, you're going to have to spend you know, like
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: even forty nine ers they're starting to show with brock Purdy,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: you know it's getting a little tough over there. I
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: mean they they could have proven to be an exception
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: there where you could actually win with him, but then
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: you know they're having their trouble right now.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: Well that's it. I just think that's the point, Like,
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: if you're gonna I agree that if they're going to
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: go back into the draft for a quarterback, that they
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: have to have some veteran here. And it's not Mac
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: and it's not Bailey Zappy, like, it has to be
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: some some sort of veteran quarterback that could carry and
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: not be completely dysfunctional for like four to six weeks.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Think about the rest of the team too. They have
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: to develop together, you can't. You know, the receivers have
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: to get into a groove that you know, you have
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: to have somebody competent back there.
- 1:11:52Speaker 8: I mean, I would I would compare it a little
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: bit to to the Cam Newton Jared Stidham thing, which
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: I think, you know, in hindsight, you're like instead of
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: and I know they didn't pay kill or right there
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: right now, right you know, It's like I think at
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: this point now, given what we experienced over the last
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: few years, that we all would have said, let's just
- 1:12:08Speaker 8: ride it out. Let's not worry about giving this team
- 1:12:10Speaker 8: to Cam Newton and having the whole Cam Newton experience
- 1:12:12Speaker 8: let's write it out with Stidham, and hey, maybe we
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: end up with a better pick than what we ended
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: up with to get Do you guys all.
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: Know that I don't think a huge amount of ZAPPI okay,
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: I think it's pretty clear what the coaches think of him.
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: They cut them, so they obviously were happy. You know,
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: fine if he ended up getting signed elsewhere. Does anybody
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: wonder if we're wrong? Does anybody in the back of
- 1:12:37Speaker 6: their mind say, I don't think he's any good either,
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: But the two games he played last year against Cleveland
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: and Detroit, it looked different than this. And now we're
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: going on a year plus to steal Sparrow Did's description
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: you know in the last two plus games, those guys,
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: I'll tell you that that's what you really miss. Freddy
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: the announcers, I'm happy every week I missed. But I
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: mean it's bad when you don't have a good team
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: and you get the D list. It's like listening to
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: me on holiday fell into shows. My intrigue is, does
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: any does anybody in the back of the mind say, like,
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: maybe I'm wrong?
- 1:13:16Speaker 8: Well, I just want to see maybe somebody who's note
- 1:13:19Speaker 8: wasn't really asking you it's just the amount of baggage
- 1:13:22Speaker 8: that Mac has right now with everything that's going on
- 1:13:24Speaker 8: in that brain of his, Like you know what I mean,
- 1:13:25Speaker 8: there's just something could possibly be if somebody else by quarterback.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Yep, let's find out.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: I'm open to it.
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: Worse like, like, let's be like, let's be fair, let's
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: be fair.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Like.
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: I get they lost on Sunday, and I'm as negative
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: about it as anybody, But one hundred and sixty yards
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: the two scores. You think Bailey Zappi has any chance
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: of beating Bubba in the week?
- 1:13:48Speaker 9: Do I?
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: At least no?
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: But I'd like to find that out definitively, much like
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: I never got a chance to find it out with Still.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: I think the difference is that Zappi isn't broken and
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: he's not like, what do you mean?
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: Zappi is definitely but he's just throwing the ball. He
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: can't hit the broad side of a barn.
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: But he's not out there panicking and leaving.
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: I mean, I think he kind of is like he
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: he literally every time I've seen him throw the ball
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: since the summer, he's throwing the ball ten yards over
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: the guy's head.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: It'd be nice It'd be nice for once to just
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: like say, Zappi's starter today, give him all week to
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: prepare and then put him out there, versus like having
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: it be some random sneak thing and he just goes
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: in second half of the game. I'd rather him have
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: a full week to prepare.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: I understand, like where you're coming from. I just, I mean,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: there's nothing that could do that to make you think
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: like this. We just got to get him out of there,
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: going back to playing how he did against Dallas and
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: New Orleans. If he if he starts turning the ball
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: over like crazy like that.
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: Yeah, the second half of that game the other day
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: was awfully the Dallas adjacent There were a lot of
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: balls thrown into heavy coverage in that game that didn't
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: get picked off.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: If he's turning the ball over like crazy like that
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: pick sixes things, then yeah, that and maybe I could
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: be persuaded. I just I think the biggest thing for
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: me is I just have no time for Bailey Zappy,
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Like I just it's just I don't want to spend
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: any any breath on him and Will Greer, like, I
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: just it just is not worth it to me. It's
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: just not like to what end? To what end are
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: we putting those guys in the game, Like, what are
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: you hoping that he all like you're gonna catch lightning
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: in a bottle and he's gonna actually win you some games?
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: Like why would you even want that at this stage?
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: So I just no, Like they're starting all over at
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: quarterback in the off season regardless, So I just don't
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: know what what the point is of even trying.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: What about this Levis kid? Yeah, four touchdowns in his
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: first game? Now, where was he drafted?
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: Second round? Top of the second round?
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Second round?
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: Big fault? I mean everyone was kind of waiting for him.
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: Yeah, he probably a lot of people thought he was
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: going to go in the first round, but right he
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: went in the second. I don't know if you watched
- 1:15:56Speaker 6: any of it, just the highlights. One of the touchdowns
- 1:15:58Speaker 6: was a punt, Yeah, I mean it was literally just
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: threw one ups Hopkins just out muscled the Terrell, who's
- 1:16:05Speaker 6: an excellent corner. Probably was offensive interference, but you made
- 1:16:10Speaker 6: some other plays. Four touchdowns in his first games just
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: a big He's a big dude.
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: He's got the look you know, he's got the looks.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: Almost like DeAndre Hopkins would have helped.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I would be interested.
- 1:16:21Speaker 8: We seriously, I mean, like, what what difference would would
- 1:16:23Speaker 8: it make right now? Like I'm just I'm just putting
- 1:16:25Speaker 8: like a difference, but you're talking about wins.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: This would Adams angry on the sideline.
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: Probably probably nothing in terms of wins and losses, but
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: to Evan's point, at least you'd have a chance to
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: make some plays and maybe get a better idea.
- 1:16:38Speaker 14: Like.
- 1:16:38Speaker 6: One of the things that bugs me about the mac
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: Jones people the apologists is the whole you know, weapons thing, yea,
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: And they're not wrong, like they don't have a ton
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: of weapons. I just feel like you should be able
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: to do more with what they have than he's done something.
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: If Hopkins was here, maybe they'd be less of that.
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: You know, if they had this so that now, do
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: I think they'd be six and two instead of two
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: and six, No.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: Neither do I, but I they would have been maybe
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: maybe three and five significantly better.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I just can't get around that offensive line though, I mean,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: that's gonna be the same.
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: You should watch some other games like and see guys
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: like yeah.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Under Underseas Borrow make it far with a bad offensive.
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: Line, like Sam Howell's put over thirty points on the
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: board three times.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: But even now, I mean, did you see Burrow last week?
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: He was he was like a man like on fire
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: getting killed and he was still making like I mean,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: he's stiffed armed Joey Boza to the ground. He did
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Nick Bosa the good one. Yeah, I mean like he
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: was he was unbelievable.
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: But that's a good quarterback.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's a guy like he's a pocket passer,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: but when he has to run, he can run. You know,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: I think you need that in today's NFL.
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: And that's to me, the difference between like clocked in
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: the forty. I'll bet you he's not any who care.
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: I bet you he's not significantly better than Mac. If
- 1:18:02Speaker 6: he's even better, I don't even know if he has.
- 1:18:05Speaker 6: But he's a much better athlete than Mac.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: Yeah, he moves much better than Mac.
- 1:18:10Speaker 22: Does.
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: I just to the Hopkins thing real quick, and like
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: I just take a quick victory lap on this because like,
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: obviously the guy can still play. But the thing is is,
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: like you do I think they would be six and
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: two instead of two and six and no, but it
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: starts in camp, right, Like, and if you have a
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: guy like Hopkins. This is my whole thing with Hopkins,
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: Like you bring a guy in hot like Hopkins in
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: and he's you get some confidence, you get some swagger
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: in your locker room on the offensive side of the football,
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: and all of that starts in August and and we
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: don't know that if they started at the beginning of
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: training camp in July with DeAndre Hopkins as their number
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: one wide receiver, how they would be playing offensively even
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: you know, a month into the season, like against Dallas
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: and New Orleans. Do I think they would have won
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: those games?
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: No?
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: But like, could they have been more representable on that
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: side of the ball? Would they not have been thirty
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: second in the league in scoring?
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: Like I just a we really last in the league
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: in scoring?
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: I think they're thirty first now Giants.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Yeah, giants are I think averaging under fifteen points a
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: game or something like that.
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: It just all these like when it comes to it's
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: just like we were talking about earlier with Tua. Tua
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: can throw the ball early to Tyreek Kill because he
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: knows Tyreek Hill is going to make a play on
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: the ball, and those types of things like that, That
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: confidence can kind of exude everybody else on the team,
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: so you're not you know, the quarterback isn't elevating anybody,
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: so maybe a guy like Hopkins would have elevated. And
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: then you have Hopkins and then you know, I know
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: he's hurt now, but like Kendrick Bourne is your number two,
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: Pop Douglas three, and it just all kind of put
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: fits together better, like I just yeah, it's you can't
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: just look at it as like you know, would they
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: have you know, what does it mean right now? If
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: they have hot like it starts at the beginning?
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: Get your point?
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Nickson Australia, what's up?
- 1:20:06Speaker 11: Good? That's good. I agree with you. I'm sorry is
- 1:20:11Speaker 11: that being give him a guy? Well, we've got nothing
- 1:20:14Speaker 11: to lose, so I agree with.
- 1:20:16Speaker 16: You on that.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: The top five pick in the draft.
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: Oh so you're afraid he actually right?
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's what you're all telling me, is that.
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: I want to say that I want to close the
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: book on Zappy out because that one was closed the day.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Why is he here now now all of a sudden, Evan,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: you're afraid he's gonna win game?
- 1:20:35Speaker 20: Right?
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: But that's what I've been told.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Have you been told?
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: You haven't been told that by anybody.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: That's kind of what I'm hearing.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: We're saying, put him in there because we're so there's
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: no point anyway.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: I already done.
- 1:20:48Speaker 11: I've got a question for you after watching the film,
- 1:20:52Speaker 11: what defensively could we done better?
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: Downs?
- 1:20:56Speaker 11: I probably sort of off coverage is soft and Miami
- 1:20:59Speaker 11: to get some easy fourth down and keep the drawing
- 1:21:01Speaker 11: going on. Just appreciate your break down on the film.
- 1:21:04Speaker 11: So as long as what you thought defensively we could
- 1:21:07Speaker 11: have done better?
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks, I appreciate that. I think the biggest thing, honestly,
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: they kind of beat themselves in a lot of situations
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: in this game. Defensively, I thought that they started letting
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: like Miami's scheme, like the motions and the conflict and
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: all those things that they put in the defense, like
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: just pull them out of zones and move them. And
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: then obviously like on the coverage bus to on the touchdown,
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: on the backbreaker to Wattle, like it's just a communication breakdown,
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: Like that's not the offense didn't do anything like exotic
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: or crazy. They just used the motion that they've used
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: fifty times a game, and Jack Jones and Jonathan Jones
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: just were on different pages. It just you can't have
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: that happen, you know, if the defense gets to stop there.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: And I'm not saying that they win the game, but
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: it's a one score game and you give the ball
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: back to the offense after they just scored a touchdown
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: and you just never know. And the defense not only
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: did they give up a touchdown, but they they gave
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: them They handed them a touchdown by the coverage bus.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: So I thought a lot of it was like communication
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: and just kind of bad eyes. Like did J. C.
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: Jackson and Mapu getting their eyes caught in the backfield
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: on the play action and He'll just goes right by him.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Like would that have happened with mccordy out there?
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: Never?
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: I don't think so. But like, I mean, he might
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: have still made the catch over Devin mccorty. I'm not
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: gonna say. I don't think mccordy would have been in
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: that bad a position. But like that, it's just bad eyes,
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: Like it's just bad technique. Like it's not like Miami
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: did anything super exotic.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:22:38Speaker 15: Yeah, I'm fine to talk about the quarterback of the future.
- 1:22:41Speaker 15: Very interesting when we haven't really addressed. The bigger issue
- 1:22:44Speaker 15: is do we think our current staff can take a
- 1:22:48Speaker 15: quarterback and develop them after what happened with Mac Do
- 1:22:51Speaker 15: we really feel it.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: Well.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: I've always said that if if they are in line
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: to take one of the top quarterbacks, it's got to
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: be a new because you want whoever that regime is
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: in the quarterback to be the future together. You don't
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: want Bill Belichick. As much as I think he's great,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: he's you know, considering his age and his contract, He's
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: not gonna be around forever.
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: That's his point.
- 1:23:16Speaker 9: I mean, this guy.
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: I thought Bill O'Brien did a good job with Deshaun Watson.
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: I thought Watson played the best football of his career
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: when Bill O'Brien was developing him.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Okay, so I'm less concerned about them coaching him on
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: the field than I am the personnel side of it
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: of surrounding him with the talent that he's gonna need.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: Like I know, everybody thinks, you know, not everybody. I
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: know some people think that if they drop Drake May
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: into this offense and all of a sudden, the offense
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: is gonna start lighting it up because they have a
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: better quarterback. But the reality is is that there's gonna,
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: especially a young quarterback, it's gonna it's gonna be an
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: uphill battle for that guy to come into this offense
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: with this group of you know, receivers and stuff like
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: that and make it so like.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: So let's just say, you know, Paul, you know Bill
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: O'Brien did a great job with Deshaun Watson, right he
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: was the head coach.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: I mean, I think that he played his best football
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: when he had Brian as head coach.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: And you know, so I guess you're intimating that, well,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien will be here and he's the person that
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: could develop.
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: No, but I think Todd was asking if we had
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: any confidence in this coaching staff's ability to develop a quarterback.
- 1:24:18Speaker 6: Who I think.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: Is Bill O'Brien going to be here?
- 1:24:22Speaker 6: I don't know how long any but he's But Todd
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: asked a question about this coaching staff.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: So I was trying to like Bill O'Brien like, and
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: he wasn't perfect with Watson. I actually think when he
- 1:24:33Speaker 6: got fired, O'Brien got fired and the Texans fell apart.
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: Statistically might have been Watson's best year when that the
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: four and twelve year I think, you know, sort of
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: so it's not like perfect, but I think he did
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: pretty well. I think O'Brien did pretty well. I tend
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: to agree with you, Fred, if they're in, if they
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: pick Evans guy, and I think you got to start
- 1:24:55Speaker 6: the whole thing over with a new regime.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: I just think that until the people making the personnel
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: decisions arrive in twenty twenty three and actually run the
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: team like a modern NFL operation, no matter who you
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: put at quarterback, if he's throwing to Devonte Parker and
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: Hunter Henry and Pop Douglas, you know, six months after
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: he got drafted. Like, it's just it's not gonna be
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: all that much better, Like it could it? Would it
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: be better? Yeah, it could be, But is it gonna
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: Are they gonna go from being what they are now
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: to like a championship caliber offense. No, that's a philosophical
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: thing that they have to get their head around. Otherwise
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: this is just gonna be the same thing over and
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: over again.
- 1:25:38Speaker 8: I feel like twenty twenty one should be, you know,
- 1:25:40Speaker 8: the cautionary tale of like that's probably as good as
- 1:25:42Speaker 8: this offense could have been with mac Att quarterback and
- 1:25:44Speaker 8: those pieces that you mentioned.
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: You know, I know, I know, you know Parker wasn't
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: here yet, but you know that was as good as
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: it was, and it was still really difficult to like
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: make every It couldn't work half.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: You just have to be smart because, like Kevin said
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: at the top of the show, you're not gonna fix
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: it all in one season though. You know there's so
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: many pieces, you're not going to get it all in
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. So then you you have to be
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: very strategic about Okay, if we do get fortunate enough
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: to get the guy at quarterback, we can't put him
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: in a position to get his brains beat out every week,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: you know, So maybe he sits for a while until
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: we get those other pieces. If not, you just gonna
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: be careful about how you use him and what his experiences.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: You know, in his first year, it's tough.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: I feel like the expiration day is here for rebuild
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: because this team has been rebuilding since before I got here,
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: and I'm over and I've been here for three years,
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: so I feel like they can't waste any more time
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: next year with this current staff that they've allowed four
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: years to rebuild and nothing's been rebuilt. I feel like
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: it's still dirt. Like nothing's been built. A home has
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: not been built. A structure is not nothing.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: Well it's you know, I got into a whole thing
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: with somebody after the game. You know, Well, they haven't
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: drafted that poorly. They have a lot of talent on
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: the team. I'm like, I'm like, you're competing, You're it's
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: you're it's relative to the team. Like there are guys
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: of this team that are the better players, but you
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: take them out of this team, are they that good?
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: And who are the foundational players? Who are the players
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: in this team that you're gonna build around. Gonzales has
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: probably one Judan if you keep them is too well,
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: yeah he's older, right.
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: So Judon has been great, but he's gonna be on
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: the team next year maybe, right, So.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: It might be just Gonzales.
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: But I I you know, I'll tell you this, If
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: they spend any major resources on defense, I'm out, Like,
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: whoever is in charge, I'm out. Like, so they're totally
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: on the defensive side of the football, Like, they have
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: plenty of talent on defense to the point where they
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: can actually like hang with Miami defensively. For a little while,
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: despite the fact that they have tons of injuries on
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: that side of the ball. So I think that they
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: are more than said.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: On and I think they're set on defense because they're
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: well coached. It's not like they have great players.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: I disagree. I think I think they have good players
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: on def.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: I didn't say good, I said great players. And when
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: I say great players, I mean guys that you're going
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: to pay top money for their position.
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: I think that they have good enough players on defense
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: in today's NFL to.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Win because they're well coached.
- 1:28:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I think you have good enough players on defense
- 1:28:15Speaker 6: to win if you score thirty plus every game. I
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: don't think they have a good enough defense to win
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: on defense, but I don't think anybody doesn't know.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: I mean that's that's that's the goal.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: But I think in today's NFL they have a good
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: enough defense that.
- 1:28:27Speaker 6: I think you could probably say twenty five teams have
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: a good enough defense as long as you just scoring
- 1:28:31Speaker 6: thirty plus points every year.
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: I don't think they need to do everything.
- 1:28:34Speaker 6: I think they need to score thirty plus today, have
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: everybody healthy. I don't think that they're fine. They're not
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: that good on defense against good offenses. They're just not okay.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I don't know if if they had scored twenty seven
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: points a game, they would have won a lot of
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: games this year. They don't have to score thirty points
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: a game.
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: You can't do it that way.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: You can't. I know you can't do it.
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: You can't just pretend the other team stopped scoring and
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: that was all they were going to score.
- 1:28:59Speaker 9: Well, I like that.
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: That's not how it works. I'm telling you. There's a
- 1:29:03Speaker 6: lot of situations the last three or four years when
- 1:29:05Speaker 6: the Patriots have had, quote a really good defense that
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: the other team needs the offense just needs that one
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: more stop, and then what happens on Sunday happens, And that.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Happens in every game in the NFL. To most defenses,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: it's very.
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: That's exactly what I just said, right, But there's twenty
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: five teams that could say, but you don't.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Have to have a lights out defense in the NFL.
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: I totally agree.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: And I think the Patriots have a good enough defense.
- 1:29:28Speaker 6: If you have a great offense, I don't That's all
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: I would say. I think you are good enough on defense.
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: I don't think you can get all that much better.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: I thought San Francisco had one of those defenses. Everybody's
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: all over Brock party, and no one's talking about the
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: fact that the other team scores thirty plus in back
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: to back games against them. Yeah, that's why they've lost.
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: Like Brock Purdy is what he is. He's the set,
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: you know, a seventh round pick. And they're only scoring
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: seventeen points suddenly, but they can't stop anybody. That's the
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: biggest difference.
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: I think we're saying the same thing, but we're saying
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: it differently. Like the Patriots defense for today's NFL is fine.
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: Is they could win a Super Bowl if their defense
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: was this good, they could?
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: I agree, there are then, but who like who couldn't
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: then if their defense was Like well.
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: Paul, their defense is better than you're giving it.
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: Like I think their defense is fine. I don't think
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: it's anything special, Okay, but you guys think it's better
- 1:30:21Speaker 6: than I think.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: You No, But it's not just that like they what
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: you just mentioned, like the forty nine ers, and you
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: thought that their defense was special. There's no special defense
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: than this one. But there's no special defenses anymore.
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: I agree, so, but but you can't tell me that
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: that Like to Fred's point, they do have great players
- 1:30:38Speaker 6: on defense, this one doesn't.
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: I think the Patriots have a lot of really good
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: players on defense that maybe it's elevated by the coaching,
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: like Shore, I can give you that, But I think
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: that this defense could win a lot of game.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: But I think I think that the conversation diverted originally
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: started by who are the foundational players you can build around?
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: And I don't think right now they have.
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: I'll get back to it. I want to see if
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: I can make Evan's head explode. So you made a
- 1:31:06Speaker 6: comment about if they add on defense, this is totally
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: different than the other argument. Don't worry, Okay, don't put
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: that bad look on your face. Mike Lombardi yesterday had
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: some things about Chase Young. Oh, they get up, they
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: get off the snap, this and that, blah. What if
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: the Patriots acquire Chase Young today is not going to
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: make you die?
- 1:31:25Speaker 9: Like he's really good?
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: On what they give up?
- 1:31:27Speaker 6: I wouldn't imagine they'd have to give up the farmer.
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: You have the second round pickers.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: And I disagree with Evan on this point, Like if
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: you bring in a stud on defense, I'm all for it.
- 1:31:37Speaker 6: Like to me, when Mike Lombardi says something, I know,
- 1:31:40Speaker 6: you know, I automatically think it's coming from the Patriots,
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: and he's carrying the water, so I think he's That's
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: why when Mike Lombardi I saw him tweet something. I
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: think it was yesterday Mike said it on one of
- 1:31:50Speaker 6: his betting shows. Maybe it wasn't a tweet, I don't remember,
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: but he mentioned Chase Young. He didn't say anything about
- 1:31:56Speaker 6: the Patriots, just Chase Young. And Chase Young we know
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: has been to be on the block today. They just
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: traded Montes sweat the Commanders. This is the other end
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: on the other side.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Always works out for the Patriots.
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: By the way, Oh, I'm not sure that would be
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: working out if I get him. I'm not sure how
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: much I think he's a terrific player. He's gonna be
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: in line for one hundred and something million dollar contract
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: give him there that you ain't gonna get from here.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: Well, that's a separate issue, though, Like the thing is
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: is that I to your question, would I be mad
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: if they got Chased Young. I would have to see
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: the return, Like if they're giving up a first or
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: a second round pick for Chase Young, then yes, I
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: would be fair.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: If you're doing it at the expense of the offense.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: Now, I agree if they're giving up any sort of
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: real draft capital. But if they're giving up a Day
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: three pick for Chase Young and then they plan on
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: keeping Chase Young, But that's a separate conversation because now
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: you're really signing him for twenty twenty.
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: Four, that is fine, but that is affecting your offense
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: because you know, like I'm sorry, it's not unlimited. Yeah,
- 1:32:58Speaker 6: if you've given him one hundred and twenty five million
- 1:33:00Speaker 6: or something, that's cutting into your offense.
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: So who's who's who's making the decisions?
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: Well, I mean it starts at the top. That's a
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: Robert Craft decision. I just if you're going to give
- 1:33:12Speaker 6: that kind of money, there's no way Bill's signing a
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: contract like that without ownership's approval.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: I get your point. I just I think that my
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: whole thing is is that, and I this is you
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: didn't know I was going here totally different direction because
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: I was watching Monday night football last night. For godly knows,
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: don't ask me why, I just I'm just obsessed.
- 1:33:33Speaker 6: I watched a lot of it.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: I was watching Monday Night Football last night, and Troy
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Aikman said that Bill Parcells used to say, we're in
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: a talent acquisition business. Talent acquisition business. Chase Chase you
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: is a talent is a talent acquisition business. And everybody
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: is gonna if they make a trade for Chase Young.
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: I already seeing it on Twitter, like, why would they
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: trade for Chase Young? That would be so stupid. They
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: need good football players.
- 1:34:00Speaker 6: Stupid in my mind, if they just said there's the
- 1:34:04Speaker 6: big there's the big thing.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Now we're done.
- 1:34:07Speaker 6: You have to be all in. You have to do
- 1:34:09Speaker 6: things like that. And as Evan says, you have to
- 1:34:11Speaker 6: retain them because it doesn't do you any good to
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: have them play out the string for nine games and
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: then let them go so you can get a third
- 1:34:17Speaker 6: round pick, which is really a fourth round pick as
- 1:34:20Speaker 6: a comp pick. Right, that nonsense that they like to do,
- 1:34:22Speaker 6: Like I would be you can trade them now, I'd
- 1:34:24Speaker 6: be furious, like.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: If you're telling me, and this is sort of I
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: think where if you want to say that they're still
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: playing chess and everybody else is playing checkers, because we
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: still believe that somehow if they trade anybody else, if
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: they trade Chase Young or they trade four Chase Young.
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: Let's say they give up a third round pick for
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: Chase Young and then they trade Joshu Cha for a
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: fourth round pick. They basically moved down what like around
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: for upgrade from Joshu Jay to Chase Young.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: I'm not worried about the draft pick compensation. I'll take
- 1:34:58Speaker 6: the player. I like Chase Young.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: He's really good.
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: I like the player too.
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: I'd be even willing probably to give I would be
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: willing probably even to give up more than you probably
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: a second round pick. I wouldn't be I'd be worried
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: about retaining him. And if they do retain him, does
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: that affect what else you can do? Because adding a
- 1:35:14Speaker 6: great defensive end isn't the difference between two and six
- 1:35:17Speaker 6: and the playoff team. Yeah, I agree with this offense.
- 1:35:21Speaker 4: I also just think that, you know, with a guy
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: like Chase Young, you the Patriot way would be to
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: get him in free agency next offseason because he doesn't
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: have a great year this year and he ends up
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: being cheaper and it's like Chris It's like a Chris
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: Long thing, right, Whereas this former number one overall pick
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: that we're going to get at a discount, but you're
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: this move. It's like trading for him today would be
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: trading for him when the market is hot and then
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: paying him at market rate at.
- 1:35:51Speaker 6: Market un And I'm okay with that as long as
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: that's not like we're done now, right, Okay, go get
- 1:35:56Speaker 6: him Bill. No, they need they need to tackle they receivers.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: I do feel like they should be aggressive in some
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: areas today where like if they could get something they
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: really need today, I'd rather get him today versus waiting
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: until the off season when everyone might be trying to
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: go after them. So I feel like, be aggressive and
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: go out and get what you want and don't like
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: sit back and think it's gonna fall in your lap
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: because it's not.
- 1:36:18Speaker 5: No, it's not a bad I mean it's not really
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: not a bad approach to team building.
- 1:36:21Speaker 8: But I just I worry that if you trade for
- 1:36:24Speaker 8: these guys, like what what is Montes sweat gonna get
- 1:36:26Speaker 8: out of Chicago? Like, I mean, he's got them over
- 1:36:29Speaker 8: the barrel now, right, Like whatever he wants, they pretty
- 1:36:31Speaker 8: much have to give him.
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: Otherwise he'll just be like, well, I'll just go to
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: free agency.
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: Then you have to think that all these things are
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: done before the trade has agreed.
- 1:36:38Speaker 6: To well, which is kind of why this Chase Young
- 1:36:40Speaker 6: thing got your ahead, Like, why is Micha Lombardi.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: Well, According to our emailer, he says, Jeff Howe reported
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: the Patriots have checked on the price.
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: Brought No, I'm actually because Mike Lombardi talked about it,
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: which is why I'm assuming. Wow, Jeff Howe brought it
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: up because he probably held the same thing.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: I think Vikings traded for Josh Dobbs, so I guess
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: they found their quarterbell.
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: The Patriots were not trading, so that was interesting.
- 1:37:08Speaker 6: With all of a sudden, Jonathan Gannon coming out definitively
- 1:37:11Speaker 6: and saying, Josh Dobbs is gonna be the third guy.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: You know, Kyler's ready and if he's not going to
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: play this week, it's Clayton tune, which I thought was like,
- 1:37:19Speaker 6: because Dobbs has been I mean, he is what he is.
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: I'm not gonna win any games with him. I thought
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: that was interesting. Timing wise.
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: Something haven't struck me though. Do you really think they
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: got Montesa's sweat deal?
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: Has all worked out with Chicago.
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: For this better right now?
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: The better?
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: I mean, I agree they better but like, I mean,
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: that's an easy.
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: Thing to get done during a trade deadline.
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: I mean, like that's usually how these things go.
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: Though, Like I don't you know what, I don't know
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: enough about Montese Sweat. Where is he from? Is you
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: know is this one of those things like you know
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: you have a chance to have an in with the
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: player see from that era? I have no idea.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Uh back to the phones we go, uhhads in Baltimore.
- 1:38:00Speaker 22: Yeah, first, I gotta say first before I get to
- 1:38:03Speaker 22: the foundation thing, I think I think the book is
- 1:38:06Speaker 22: already quoted on Zamy, Like I mean, at least to me,
- 1:38:10Speaker 22: like I seen, I've seen enough, Like if we're gonna
- 1:38:13Speaker 22: go to him, then I mean, we might as well
- 1:38:15Speaker 22: just call Cam back, like we don't need like Zaffy,
- 1:38:18Speaker 22: he is.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: What he is, And I'm definitely what evan on that, Like,
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: but what about finding out like if it can be
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: the backup of the future.
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: Ye, I just don't know why he's on the roster.
- 1:38:28Speaker 4: I don't know why he's on the roster either, all
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: right anyway, And I.
- 1:38:33Speaker 22: Gotta say for the foundation thing, that's something that I've
- 1:38:36Speaker 22: always been on because I'm like, we don't have no star,
- 1:38:39Speaker 22: but you know, Gonezo. I feel like gonezels up and coming.
- 1:38:43Speaker 22: But I mean that's it. Like you you try to
- 1:38:46Speaker 22: think of like the second person, I mean Remandre or Duggar,
- 1:38:50Speaker 22: but like I can't. I can't think of nobody that like, yeah, okay,
- 1:38:55Speaker 22: let's sign him and we can build around.
- 1:38:57Speaker 6: Like I'd like to see some of those guys.
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: I agree with you, it takes money to make it
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: feel like we.
- 1:39:02Speaker 22: Had literally that one foundation and everybody else is just
- 1:39:06Speaker 22: their failure.
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: So this is like I was making fun of the
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: the Dolphins intros. Thanks for shut on Sunday and uh,
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: you are a very own Neil Perry was like, what
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: this is actually cool? I heard him say that, and
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: I was I was like, it's only great for like
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: you because you posted on social Neil. Anyways, but the
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: after I got you know, roused with Neil a little bit,
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: I I was like, wait a second. So they just
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: they introduced, you know to then Tyree Kill, then Jalen Waddle,
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: then Christian Wilkins, then Bradley Chubb that like all in Like,
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: I don't think all those, you know, Jalen Ramsey, who
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: probably got the biggest applause because you know, his first
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: came back. And I don't think all those players are
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: necessarily like that that great, but we all know all
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: those players, like if the Patriots were to do the
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: same thing here and they were like Brandon's schooler, who
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: are we running to buy? But they're all stars, Like
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: they're all recognizable stars. And I remember last year we
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: were in Minnesota, fred and when they announced justin Jefferson
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: in that stadium, I don't know if I've ever heard
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: a place as loud as that. That was just for
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: his introduction into the game, Like it wasn't he didn't
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: even do anything yet, and it was coming off that
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: Buffalo game and the and it was like the roof
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: almost blew off the place.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: And you know, you're making the case for individual introductions
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: if you have stars.
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: I'm making the I'm making the case for like those
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: individual introductions work because they have star players that people
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: get excited about.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: How we announced as a.
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: Team, right, Patriots and chosen a team.
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: That's what I said, Neil.
- 1:40:58Speaker 20: I was like.
- 1:41:02Speaker 6: Santa Claus, I.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: Still believe in that.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: You do.
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: No individual I get it. Jeff's the new Bedford.
- 1:41:12Speaker 6: Okay, Hey, how you doing, guys, Jeff Interest.
- 1:41:16Speaker 12: Hello, Yes, Jeff, Hey, Yeah, how you doing.
- 1:41:18Speaker 20: Guys? You know, I'm sorry, you know, I don't care
- 1:41:22Speaker 20: if I'm the last guy on mac Island and you
- 1:41:25Speaker 20: can make fun of me when I hang up the phone,
- 1:41:26Speaker 20: I don't care because I'm gonna be on mac Island.
- 1:41:29Speaker 20: And even if he does get traded, I kind of
- 1:41:31Speaker 20: hope he gets traded because a lot of people are
- 1:41:33Speaker 20: on here are gonna have a big piece of humble
- 1:41:35Speaker 20: pie coming their way. And I'll give you some examples.
- 1:41:38Speaker 20: Do you know who he drafted since mac Jones has
- 1:41:40Speaker 20: been a been and patriot on the ufensive side, Trey Nixon,
- 1:41:44Speaker 20: the Maario Douglas, Kayshawn Booty and Taekwan Thornton. Okay, that's
- 1:41:49Speaker 20: the weapons is put for mac Jones. And and in
- 1:41:55Speaker 20: the fact that you know he was talking about to Tula,
- 1:41:57Speaker 20: I'm sorry you had a couple of you know, big throws.
- 1:42:00Speaker 20: But he's gonna all start team out there. It's like
- 1:42:02Speaker 20: the Harlem group. John is in a Washington General.
- 1:42:04Speaker 6: He beat you with Parker.
- 1:42:05Speaker 20: Anticipating throws all that because he knows Tyreek Hill is
- 1:42:08Speaker 20: gonna be there. He knows he's gonna make the play.
- 1:42:10Speaker 20: He's got play makers. He had a he had a pick,
- 1:42:12Speaker 20: he had another ball that should have been picked. He
- 1:42:15Speaker 20: fumbled nothing max playing.
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: He didn't filled around your quarterback.
- 1:42:19Speaker 20: He's a pocket passer.
- 1:42:22Speaker 9: Yea.
- 1:42:24Speaker 6: All the stuff about Mac.
- 1:42:25Speaker 20: Is just proves my point, pol weapons run he can produce.
- 1:42:29Speaker 20: Look at his rookie year.
- 1:42:31Speaker 6: He didn't produce. Look at it. Go back and look
- 1:42:33Speaker 6: at it and tell me that. Show me the production.
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: I don't disagree with Paul. I don't. I don't disagree
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: with this point.
- 1:42:40Speaker 20: Your weak arguments about production.
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: No, no one can even talk except for you.
- 1:42:44Speaker 20: With our injuries. See, okay, tell me a quarterback that's
- 1:42:48Speaker 20: kind of Bill Belichick takes away to Kobe Maya's replaces
- 1:42:51Speaker 20: him with a broken down player. Where where is Mac Jones'
- 1:42:54Speaker 20: throw down back that Tom Brady had? Where is he?
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: Who's Patrick Mahons' throat down back?
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: Jerick mckinn and he's pretty good?
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: Oh really?
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: What's he got twelve catches.
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: And traded in the playoffs?
- 1:43:05Speaker 6: Who's Who's Joe Burrow's third down back? Who's John Who's
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: Josh Allen's third down back?
- 1:43:12Speaker 20: Every time you like the ball is going to be
- 1:43:16Speaker 20: he's going to the ball.
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: And that's the problem. That's the problem Cincinnati. Cincinnati knows
- 1:43:23Speaker 6: that those things are all going to happen, but it
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: doesn't bother Joe Burrow.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: That's the difference. Well, Jeff, yeah, Jeff, No, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff,
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Jeff's hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, Jeff, Jeff.
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: Jeff, Jeff. Listen. You talk, you talk, then Fred talks.
- 1:43:40Speaker 6: You talk and Fred talks. You can't just talk all
- 1:43:42Speaker 6: the time. No one can hear anything. Yes, just you,
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: I want to call, I want to call. I think
- 1:43:50Speaker 6: that was Mike Francessa.
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: I know it's amazing.
- 1:43:52Speaker 6: I don't think he's wrong. I think there's an argument
- 1:43:54Speaker 6: to that that that mac Jones doesn't have enough. I
- 1:43:57Speaker 6: agree with you, but he won't even let you get
- 1:43:59Speaker 6: a word in edge why.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: I wanted to agree with his point about the weapons,
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: there's no doubt, But I also wanted to ask him,
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: where is the indicator, you know, the example of him
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: overcoming that, you know, doing things.
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: Where's the indicator he's overcome anything. Okay, but but if
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: it rains, it seems to put him in a bad.
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: Tea Just to okay, just I wish he had just
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: stayed on the offense a little bit here, and this
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: is this is I actually agree with like ninety percent
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: of what he said.
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: I do ninety strong, but I agree with a lot
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: of what I said. They don't have great weapons.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: You can't argue with that.
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: In terms of building around the quarterback, they have hit
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: the lottery of how to f up a young quarterback.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: They've surrounded him with next to nothing. They've changed coaches
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: on him three times. They made his defense a defensive
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: coordinator an offensive coordinator. If this was I'm sorry, like
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: I agree with him in this point. If this was
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: like the Jaguars of the Jets, we'd be laughing in
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: their faces. I agree, we would be like, will you morons?
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: You drafted this guy in the first round.
- 1:45:01Speaker 6: Unfortunately, he wouldn't let anybody.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: And so all of that is true and valid. My
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: whole thing now with Mac is I believe and I'm
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: subject to change in the last nine games of the season.
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: I believe it's too far gone. I think that he's
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: broken in terms of his play on the field, and
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: I actually think, maybe more importantly, the relationship between him
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: and the organization is teetering. Is teetering because I think that,
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: like Jeff and new Bedford, that's what Mac Jones thinks.
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: I think Mac Jones looks at this, and he looks
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: he goes, you know, at after the game when they
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: go on the field and everybody shakes hands, and he
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: goes up to two and says, hey, you know how
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: you doing? Played a great game. He's saying, I was
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: in the same quarterback room as that guy at Alabama.
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: I was in the same quarterback room as Jalen Hurts
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: after week one, and I am throwing to these guys
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: and he's throwing into the best receiver in the world.
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: And I have to think that that's the mentality that
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: Mac is also taking to.
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: All of this.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: Sure, and I think Jeff's point is he hopes he
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: gets traded and listen, I hope Mac has a great career,
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: you know, but I don't like to have it's point.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: I don't think it can be here because of what's happened.
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: I said that at the beginning of the show. I
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: do think that he needs to go somewhere else. I
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: feel like he'll he needs a fresh start, just like
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: Trey Lance for different reasons, obviously, but per the note
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: that his camp allegedly put out or whoever put out you.
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: A chef can't make a garbage. A chef can't make
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: garbage taste good, right, And I think that that's true.
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: But I also don't know if this chef will ever
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: have the opportunity to make his food taste good because
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: of the lack of trust from the utdown. I think
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: even if he is given all the ingredients to make
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: some superb five star meal, I don't know if he's
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: ever going to be able to do it. There's a
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: lack of trust.
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: I mean, I don't think it has anything to do
- 1:46:58Speaker 6: with any of that stuff. I agree with all the
- 1:47:01Speaker 6: stuff that Jeff said about the weapons. I don't think
- 1:47:04Speaker 6: they have great weapons. I think he does not have
- 1:47:09Speaker 6: the mentality to lead. I think he has. It's not trust,
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: it's not I don't think that people follow him. I
- 1:47:17Speaker 6: think he's kind of a baby, and I think he
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: like loses it. And I think that he does not
- 1:47:23Speaker 6: elicit confidence from his teammates. I think a lot of
- 1:47:29Speaker 6: this stuff he'd be finding different ways to fail if
- 1:47:33Speaker 6: he had the weapons. In the other things, I think
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: there's a lot of there's a lot of quarterbacks in
- 1:47:39Speaker 6: the league that don't have a lot around them. Now,
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: you can make an argument that Evan just did and
- 1:47:43Speaker 6: say this is really the f up of how to
- 1:47:46Speaker 6: not handle a young quarterback. And I would, I would,
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: I would probably agree with that they've made a lot
- 1:47:50Speaker 6: of mistakes. I just don't see it that if everything
- 1:47:54Speaker 6: else was great, he'd be able to be great. I
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: just I don't see greatness in this guy. I don't.
- 1:47:59Speaker 6: That's the only thing I disagree with Jeff. Want all
- 1:48:01Speaker 6: the stuff that Jeff said in defense of mac Jones,
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: you could absolutely make an argument for he just never
- 1:48:06Speaker 6: let anybody make the argument with him. He just wanted
- 1:48:08Speaker 6: to yell at me. I just did.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: But I agree with you wholeheartedly that I don't necessarily
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: know that that would have made it any better or
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: fixed him or whatever that may be. But my point
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: is more about the process and the results, and the
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: process stunk, and now you've ruined the kid, and whether
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: it's the next guy or whatever, like, you need to
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: learn from your mistakes.
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: And not do this to the next If Mac Jones
- 1:48:30Speaker 6: was Miami's quarterback on Sunday and the game started the
- 1:48:33Speaker 6: exact same way and he threw the ball to Kyle Duggar.
- 1:48:36Speaker 6: I do not think he response by throwing for three
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: hundred yards and three touchdowns. No, I do not think
- 1:48:40Speaker 6: that happens with all the same weapons.
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: Maybe not.
- 1:48:43Speaker 6: I think there's just like this mentality and a leadership
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: quality and a belief that Tua has that I don't
- 1:48:50Speaker 6: think Mac has. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe if he had
- 1:48:52Speaker 6: all that stuff around him, it would be Alabama Mac.
- 1:48:56Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: I've literally said that too. It's like he doesn't have
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: like how they called Joeber Joe Burr, that swagger, that confidence,
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: that fire, that ice in his veins. He does not
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: have any of that. I have never seen any of that.
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: The only time I did see it was when he
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: played at Alabama and he had all those stars and
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: everything was perfect, nothing went wrong.
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: Ever.
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: But now you're in the NFL, you're in the big
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: boy league. There's gonna be adversity every single day. Even
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: if you have all the talent, things are gonna happen.
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: But you have to be This is I think. Obviously,
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: I know we're not getting into the draft yet, all right,
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: I'm not doing it. But with the next quarterback, whoever
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: it is, that they draft. This is gonna be an
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: intangible thing that like, we probably won't be able to
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: speak to about these guys. And I think a lot
- 1:49:37Speaker 4: of these guys come out and don't hit a lot
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: of adversity in college because they're on stack teams. And really,
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: what you have to listen to is how are these
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: guys behind the scenes in practice and stuff like that,
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: because I bet you for a guy like Mac, the
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: Alabama defense was probably the best defense he ever faced.
- 1:49:56Speaker 6: And what did Nick Sabin used to say about mac
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: att practice?
- 1:49:59Speaker 9: Right?
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: They called him mac and row and they talked about
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: the tirades that he would throw when you had would
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: screw up in practice, that type of stuff probably should
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: have been a bigger red flag.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: Well, and yeah, from the get go, like you know,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: one of the things Jeff said is look at the
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: production in year one. I'm sorry, but.
- 1:50:16Speaker 6: That's not good enough.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: They also managed the hell out of them. How long
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: was it?
- 1:50:20Speaker 6: Okay? Well, but that production is not good enough.
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: But if that was the that was the floor.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: But but what I'm saying, what I'm saying is they
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: would not allow him to make a mistake in that
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: first year. And I think that was that was a mistake.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: You need to let that quarterback make mistakes to understand
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: what his limits are and what then the speed of
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: the game. How long was it until he even threw
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: into the end zone that season?
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: But I get your point. I mean it was ridiculous,
- 1:50:45Speaker 6: But I don't think it's a bad idea to sort
- 1:50:47Speaker 6: of try to limit mistakes for a rookie quarterback coming
- 1:50:49Speaker 6: out of the choot. But my point is people look
- 1:50:52Speaker 6: at the fact that they won ten games, and they
- 1:50:54Speaker 6: think that he won ten games. Yeah, like every just
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: put it perfectly. What he did as a rookie was
- 1:51:01Speaker 6: the floor. We all thought that was the floor. Right now,
- 1:51:04Speaker 6: everybody's saying, look, look what he did when he was
- 1:51:05Speaker 6: a rookie. Look at Yeah, that's that was his ceiling,
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: not his floor. Yeah, and it's not good enough.
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: Right, But if that so that But this is the
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: nature versus nurture argument with him, right, is like, if
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: that was his floor back then, but now it's become
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: his ceiling. But if in year two it wasn't Matt
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: Patricia calling the plays and it was you know, they
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: actually added some talent on the offensive side of the
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: ball and instead of Taekwon Thorton it was George Pickens,
- 1:51:32Speaker 4: or instead of DeVante Parker it was Tyreek Hill, right, Like, then,
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: how would it have continued to develop from there?
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: It is the question it may have been better, right, yeah,
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: but we'll never know that. And now it's like, you know,
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: can it ever be better here?
- 1:51:48Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:51:48Speaker 8: Like you know you said, I think we thought Bill
- 1:51:51Speaker 8: O'Brien coming in will restore trust on both ways, and
- 1:51:53Speaker 8: I think, as Evan laid out, I think trust is
- 1:51:56Speaker 8: broken on both sides. I don't think that the team
- 1:51:58Speaker 8: of the coaching staff trust that Mac is the guy,
- 1:52:00Speaker 8: and I don't think Mac trust the coaching staff and
- 1:52:02Speaker 8: the you know, not necessarily a team, but the coaching
- 1:52:04Speaker 8: staff at least.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: To put him in position to be successful. And I
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: think that might be you know what brings this all
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: to an end sooner than and I did.
- 1:52:11Speaker 6: Do you know I have him just scribbled down. I'm
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: not going to go through all the numbers. The last
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: eight games of twenty twenty one, on average, are very
- 1:52:19Speaker 6: comparable to and when I did this, it was a
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: few games ago to the nineteen games that he had
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: played in twenty two and then to that point in
- 1:52:28Speaker 6: twenty three basically, the average game for the last eight
- 1:52:31Speaker 6: of twenty one was nineteen for thirty for two thirteen,
- 1:52:34Speaker 6: one and a half touchdowns, one pick, and the average
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: since then was twenty two for thirty four for two
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: to twenty one, one touchdown, one pick. Like the numbers
- 1:52:43Speaker 6: are scarily similar. Like once they figured out what he
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: was doing, he has not yet adjusted.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: Right, but he also hasn't had to me it's not
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: but that was with Josh McDaniels, right, and everything before
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: they wrecked it. Right, But it's not even just about
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: it's also about the the people he's throwing to. And
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: like I again, this is not even about like Mac.
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: It's just if they're gonna start all over at the
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: quarterback position, they have to do better the next time.
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: Otherwise we're just gonna be in this never ending cycle
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: where every four years we're gonna get to a point
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: where the quarterback's ruined and we're gonna be drafting another one.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: Un unless the quarterback is really good.
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: But even then, even good quarterbacks need help.
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: I know they need help, but good quarterbacks make others
- 1:53:26Speaker 6: the help. Sure, But like a good quarterback makes Chris
- 1:53:30Speaker 6: Hogan a household name.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: But he also had Rob Gronkowski, and no, I understand that,
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: but like, I just don't think it would look the same.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: It wouldn't know better. But you know Burrow, I think
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: Burrow doesn't mind having Jamar Chase. And you know, even
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: good quarterbacks need need help.
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Burrow's rookie year. I know he tore
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: his ACL, but like his rookie year to start with, honestly,
- 1:53:53Speaker 4: like tearing his ACL might have been the best thing
- 1:53:56Speaker 4: that ever happened because it put them in position to
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: draft to mar Chase. Like if if he plays, they
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: probably win too many games, and they probably don't, you know,
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: get Jamar Chase. And then all of a sudden he
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: gets Jamar Chase and now in the super Bowl.
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: And I've heard people, you know, people that I respect
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: to say that, like I wouldn't take Marvin Harrison if
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: the Patriots are in the top five and they have
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: an opportunity to get Marvin Harrison, because what good is that,
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: you know, you get a number one with this offensive line.
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: The Bengals did it and now evidently Joe Burrow And
- 1:54:28Speaker 6: I'm not saying that you're saying this, but a lot
- 1:54:29Speaker 6: of people do you have to admit Joe Burrow is
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: just a product of Jamar Chase. No, you know, like
- 1:54:35Speaker 6: he has no offensive line to speak of, and he
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: was really good with Tyler Boyd and then he got
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: Jamar Chase and t Higgins and they went to another level. Right,
- 1:54:45Speaker 6: But like, but they have to Why would you not?
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: Why would you not do that? But if you had
- 1:54:50Speaker 6: a chance to get Marvin Harrison to lift your guy up,
- 1:54:53Speaker 6: why would you like not want to.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: Because then you'd have to build up the offensive line too.
- 1:54:57Speaker 9: No, so do it.
- 1:54:58Speaker 6: But my argument would be, you wouldn't have to have
- 1:55:01Speaker 6: as good an offensive line if you have a guy
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: that gets open that quickly and has the ability to
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: make big plays. If the quarterback is good, well, again,
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: you got to have something, right, But as I don't
- 1:55:11Speaker 6: need an offensive line and a receiver if I don't have.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: A quarter as Evan says, you've got to have the
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: two of the three.
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: Yeah, as long as one of them is a quarterback. Well,
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: I mean, there aren't a lot of good teams that
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: would a good offensive line and a good wide receiver
- 1:55:23Speaker 6: and no quarterback. Now we could, we could argue the
- 1:55:27Speaker 6: forty nine ers, I wouldn't I think he's better than
- 1:55:31Speaker 6: giving credit for Yes, Dan, it didn't Again, it didn't
- 1:55:35Speaker 6: look like that when the other guys were playing Dana
- 1:55:37Speaker 6: Virginia much in Miami last year, when Teddy Bridgewater played.
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: Wow, that call was something else. I've got to hand
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: it to Andy Hardy's getting better with the fake voices.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: That's Roger Yeah still says sorry, but you, Paul, you
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: got verbally assaulted by that one kid. But seriously, what
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: has Mac Jones done to deserve this unwavering loyalty from
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: this group of people that support him? In this way,
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: this guy gets unlimited excuses from a segment of the
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: fan base, and his dad are Lawski it's weird to see.
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: Oh, which, by the way, really came into focus texting Yeah,
- 1:56:10Speaker 6: he probably should have their friends.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, quick, quick, let's get these people off
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: the line. Jackson's in Florida. What's up, Jackson?
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:56:18Speaker 9: What's up?
- 1:56:19Speaker 8: Guys?
- 1:56:19Speaker 9: How are you doing good?
- 1:56:21Speaker 20: Hey?
- 1:56:21Speaker 23: So I kind of had a couple of points. My
- 1:56:23Speaker 23: first one was about the defense being the foundation of
- 1:56:27Speaker 23: everything they do. I think the defense can win you games.
- 1:56:32Speaker 23: The point made was if the offense scores twenty seven
- 1:56:35Speaker 23: points a game, you win a lot more games, and
- 1:56:37Speaker 23: I think that carries a lot of weight. I think
- 1:56:40Speaker 23: with the way that New England designs things, that's pretty
- 1:56:44Speaker 23: much the case. And the other point I was going
- 1:56:47Speaker 23: to make was with the offense, everybody kind of ripped
- 1:56:50Speaker 23: into how to draft.
- 1:56:51Speaker 24: The handle all that. But I think the bigger part
- 1:56:54Speaker 24: of it is the way the chips just haven't fell
- 1:56:58Speaker 24: the way they used to. You know, you've got Randy
- 1:57:01Speaker 24: Moss for well, I think it was a third round
- 1:57:03Speaker 24: pick Timeline. I was a young lad then. But to
- 1:57:07Speaker 24: get Wes Welker, who's nothing. Where they got there and
- 1:57:09Speaker 24: they developed in them, it's just something great.
- 1:57:12Speaker 23: They haven't really been able.
- 1:57:13Speaker 24: To hate like that.
- 1:57:14Speaker 6: But that's and that's almost like those were, you know,
- 1:57:17Speaker 6: kind of generational players.
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: But it's also that's my point is like if you
- 1:57:22Speaker 4: don't they have to get out of the thinking that
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: they're just gonna steal Randy Moss from the Raiders and
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: turn them back into Randy Moss from the Vikings and
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: and win a Super Bowl like they have to. That's
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: this is that's not how this business works anymore.
- 1:57:36Speaker 6: Like and they did it with Corey Dillon, right, and
- 1:57:38Speaker 6: there's others. There's there's like four or five Do you
- 1:57:41Speaker 6: know how many dozens of other guys they've tried to
- 1:57:43Speaker 6: do that with and failed?
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, like.
- 1:57:47Speaker 6: Jonathan Sullivan, Joey Halloway, Joey Galloway, Albert Hainsworth like this.
- 1:57:53Speaker 6: I literally could give you, Tori, dozens of guys that
- 1:57:56Speaker 6: they tried to do the same kind of things with.
- 1:57:59Speaker 6: It were four or five times.
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: Troy's in Virginia. What's up, Troy?
- 1:58:06Speaker 9: Hey?
- 1:58:06Speaker 10: It was going on y'all.
- 1:58:07Speaker 25: Hey, First and foremost, I want to appreciate you all
- 1:58:11Speaker 25: for pretty much putting your hard turn time into this,
- 1:58:16Speaker 25: giving us fans up the date, and making us feel
- 1:58:19Speaker 25: comfortable and balanced about what's going.
- 1:58:21Speaker 6: On our job.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: Believe me, I would say, well, I.
- 1:58:28Speaker 26: Definitely appreciate you all for putting your effort into doing this.
- 1:58:33Speaker 25: Two Ever since post Brady, we just have been on
- 1:58:38Speaker 25: a cycle.
- 1:58:39Speaker 22: Evan hit it on the nose.
- 1:58:41Speaker 26: We have been on a cycle of pretty much trying
- 1:58:45Speaker 26: to find a foundation, trying to find yours going It's
- 1:58:49Speaker 26: mac Jones were to leave, We're gonna be in another
- 1:58:52Speaker 26: cycle again, and it just seems like we're just gonna
- 1:58:55Speaker 26: be sitting on this, sitting on this uh sitting on
- 1:58:59Speaker 26: this like plane or sitting on this this thing that
- 1:59:04Speaker 26: we're just recycling and trying to figure out what's going
- 1:59:07Speaker 26: on for the next couple of years. It seems like
- 1:59:11Speaker 26: it's going to get worse before it gets better.
- 1:59:14Speaker 16: I just I don't know.
- 1:59:15Speaker 26: I just found out that uh KD is going to
- 1:59:19Speaker 26: be out, so it's going to be kind of hard
- 1:59:21Speaker 26: to find some type of friction going on with this
- 1:59:24Speaker 26: offense and defense is kind of looking kind of shaky
- 1:59:28Speaker 26: a little bit to me.
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: That's it, Thank you all, Okay, thanks Troy.
- 1:59:34Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that's the mic to show cycle.
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: That's the cycle.
- 1:59:38Speaker 4: We're in the cycle.
- 1:59:40Speaker 6: But that would be my my my pushback for that
- 1:59:43Speaker 6: is like he prefaced his call by saying, we're in
- 1:59:46Speaker 6: a cycle, and and if we just get rid of
- 1:59:48Speaker 6: the quarter, well, if we're in the cycle already, what's
- 1:59:50Speaker 6: the difference.
- 1:59:52Speaker 4: We're in it until organizationally they decide for philosophically that
- 1:59:58Speaker 4: they're going to get into the business outscoring other teams.
- 2:00:03Speaker 6: And that's our defense argument for like a half hour ago,
- 2:00:06Speaker 6: that's a better way, like to me, I think like
- 2:00:10Speaker 6: Kansas City to me, and I know their defense is
- 2:00:12Speaker 6: considered to be better this year. They don't win because
- 2:00:15Speaker 6: they play good defense. They win because the other teams scored.
- 2:00:17Speaker 6: They scored more than the other And I think, I
- 2:00:19Speaker 6: think I found a way they have a defense that
- 2:00:21Speaker 6: can win the super Bow.
- 2:00:21Speaker 1: I think I found a way to pitch, you know,
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: to phrase this. The Patriots do have a good enough defense.
- 2:00:28Speaker 5: I agree.
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: In today's NFL, you have to have an offense that's
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: better than the good enough defense.
- 2:00:34Speaker 6: I agree that the Patriots defense.
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: Right now, the Patriot the Patriots defense would kill the
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: Patriots offense. We need to get it out. We need
- 2:00:45Speaker 1: to get it. We need to get an offense. So
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: that's everybody else's no, but we need to get an
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: offense that's better than the average defense.
- 2:00:53Speaker 4: Until you start trying to outscore teams. That was a
- 2:00:57Speaker 4: perfect The entire organization needs. That needs to be The
- 2:01:00Speaker 4: message is we need to light up the scoreboard literally,
- 2:01:03Speaker 4: and until they get into that mindset where everything that
- 2:01:07Speaker 4: they're putting into it is about scoring points, they're gonna
- 2:01:12Speaker 4: this is where they're gonna be. It's to me, it's there.
- 2:01:15Speaker 4: It's a philosophical thing, I know.
- 2:01:17Speaker 5: And you think they just put a brand new scoreboard
- 2:01:18Speaker 5: and that they would want to.
- 2:01:22Speaker 14: That like.
- 2:01:23Speaker 3: It was getting to a point where I'm like, are
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: we ever going to see the like Patriots win graphic
- 2:01:27Speaker 3: on that scoreboard? And we finally saw. I don't know
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: if we'll see.
- 2:01:29Speaker 5: It again, but I can't see the board from where
- 2:01:31Speaker 5: I sit, So.
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: All right, that's gonna be it for this show. We'll
