- 0:04Speaker 2: Hinchtager's manager with us right now, Ajinski, why don't you
- 0:08Speaker 2: tell him what's been going on at the winter meetings
- 0:10Speaker 2: so far?
- 0:12Speaker 3: Did you hear him? No, you can't hear him. He
- 0:15Speaker 3: wants to know.
- 0:16Speaker 4: I want you to tell him what's been going on,
- 0:18Speaker 4: like you want me want to tell him?
- 0:21Speaker 5: Well, I said that the Guardians traded for show, Hey,
- 0:23Speaker 5: Mookie and Freddie in the last hour, and schoobl went
- 0:27Speaker 5: to the Dodgers, and then Carpenter, green Dingler Torkelsen went
- 0:33Speaker 5: to the Royals.
- 0:35Speaker 6: I don't like any part of I don't like any
- 0:36Speaker 6: part of your fantasy.
- 0:38Speaker 5: The other thing I'll say about Hinch, all the managers
- 0:41Speaker 5: we've had on and all the managers we talked to,
- 0:43Speaker 5: I think you're the one.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Guy that enjoys us.
- 0:46Speaker 6: It's which part to all the media and all the
- 0:48Speaker 6: people your people?
- 0:50Speaker 7: Ah not when not when you're gonna trade like all
- 0:53Speaker 7: my whole team, and like everybody wants to ask me
- 0:56Speaker 7: questions about about Schoobl, But I I I do like
- 1:00Speaker 7: the industry togetherness at an event, like it's like my
- 1:05Speaker 7: favorite times at this event is like last night with
- 1:09Speaker 7: like eight managers, you know, around a round table, just
- 1:12Speaker 7: kind of catching up and small fraternity of of guys
- 1:15Speaker 7: who have the same job, And I like that part
- 1:18Speaker 7: of it. Walking through the lobby of this place is
- 1:22Speaker 7: a is an experience in itself. But I guess I've
- 1:26Speaker 7: been in the game long enough to be connected to
- 1:28Speaker 7: a lot of different people. The quick hello is is great.
- 1:31Speaker 7: The camaraderie with the managers is great. You come on
- 1:35Speaker 7: shows like this and you trade my entire roster, I'm
- 1:38Speaker 7: not great at all.
- 1:40Speaker 4: We have a nicer person than to ask you a question.
- 1:43Speaker 8: Did you invite Blake Terra to that little roundtable or
- 1:47Speaker 8: is he not? Does he not count yet because he's
- 1:49Speaker 8: not a big league manager.
- 1:52Speaker 7: You know, I haven't met him yet. He wasn't there
- 1:54Speaker 7: last night. We we will definitely see him. We have
- 1:57Speaker 7: some some a manager meeting tomorrow where we're gonna sort
- 2:01Speaker 7: of unveil everybody around the around the table. But if
- 2:04Speaker 7: I see him, I'd love to talk to him. Don't
- 2:06Speaker 7: backgnize if he looks like one of the kids looking
- 2:08Speaker 7: for a job.
- 2:09Speaker 6: And you know what's funny is feel in these jobs.
- 2:12Speaker 6: And I know you guys probably feel old as the
- 2:14Speaker 6: players get younger.
- 2:15Speaker 7: Is is I was that guy like fifteen years ago
- 2:19Speaker 7: with no experience, kind of rolling into the winter meetings
- 2:22Speaker 7: and it's like Bobby Cox, Tito Gaston, Tony LaRussa, uh,
- 2:27Speaker 7: Dusty Baker, and I'm like, I look twelve compared to
- 2:30Speaker 7: these dudes.
- 2:31Speaker 3: We just had Torion.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Oh yeah, and he he asked us about Utera and
- 2:36Speaker 5: I'm sitting here talking to him and I'm like, he
- 2:39Speaker 5: could be my son.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I don't feel that old, but when I look at him,
- 2:43Speaker 3: I'm like my kid.
- 2:44Speaker 7: Yeah, No, it's I mean, he's got a challenge ahead
- 2:46Speaker 7: of himself, just in terms of, like, you know, the
- 2:51Speaker 7: the knowing what to do. The baseball part will be
- 2:53Speaker 7: really easy. It's all this extra stuff that I think
- 2:56Speaker 7: you learn over the years, the communication up to the
- 2:59Speaker 7: to the front off as the the media is the
- 3:03Speaker 7: the challenges ahead. But if if they didn't believe in him,
- 3:06Speaker 7: they wouldn't have picked them. And I think he's I'm
- 3:08Speaker 7: curious to get to know him because I want to
- 3:10Speaker 7: learn like what he and others. I mean, I'm I'm
- 3:14Speaker 7: looking forward to Albi in this role. Albi's never done it,
- 3:16Speaker 7: He's been in baseball forever. I think that's gonna be
- 3:19Speaker 7: That's gonna be awesome, and we have a new a
- 3:23Speaker 7: new group joining this small fraternity. And once you're in,
- 3:26Speaker 7: you're in, and I and I think you'll have a
- 3:28Speaker 7: lot of support around them.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Oh, go ahead, Kratzy.
- 3:33Speaker 8: Oh no, I was just gonna say, do you think
- 3:34Speaker 8: teams need to stay away from hiring guys who they
- 3:39Speaker 8: feel like they can control? When you can see a
- 3:41Speaker 8: young manager, you say, oh, I can control. And I
- 3:44Speaker 8: remember hearing some of your stories that you told me
- 3:46Speaker 8: about when you were first managing, and you're like, ah, crap,
- 3:50Speaker 8: shouldn't have done that. Learn from it, and you've become
- 3:52Speaker 8: the manager that you are now. But do you think
- 3:55Speaker 8: teams need to stay away from that because they're setting
- 3:58Speaker 8: themselves in the organization back or do you think there
- 4:02Speaker 8: is a value in that if you're at a certain
- 4:05Speaker 8: spot in an organization.
- 4:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I think I think the value is separating support
- 4:12Speaker 7: with directives that they're very different. Like you need support
- 4:16Speaker 7: around you as a young manager in a in a
- 4:20Speaker 7: in a very isolated job in your office, right, so,
- 4:23Speaker 7: like you're trying to to execute everything you can to
- 4:26Speaker 7: win that day's game, or win that series, or win
- 4:29Speaker 7: that month or when that that that record and and
- 4:32Speaker 7: you're trying to combine that with a lot of things.
- 4:34Speaker 7: If you're getting directives that you that that you're getting
- 4:37Speaker 7: too much things that you have to do, you're going
- 4:41Speaker 7: to lose your instincts. And managing is still is still
- 4:43Speaker 7: about instincts, and it's still about feel for players and
- 4:47Speaker 7: feel for humans and feel for moments. And you combine
- 4:50Speaker 7: that with all the data that we get, like those
- 4:52Speaker 7: are the best run organizations. In my opinion is you
- 4:55Speaker 7: can have support from above and be perfectly fine. You
- 4:59Speaker 7: start getting directives and it gets to be a make
- 5:02Speaker 7: a tough job even tougher.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Okay, we're just going right into it. I did your
- 5:06Speaker 5: series against Seattle. We're standing in the clubhouse in Seattle
- 5:11Speaker 5: with Scott Harris, me and you. Scott Harris, I think
- 5:13Speaker 5: we you know, standing there, Trek Scuobel walks by. And
- 5:16Speaker 5: what I say to What did I ask Scott Harris when.
- 5:18Speaker 6: School you basically tried to broker a deal?
- 5:20Speaker 3: Yes? I said, when are you going to sign this guy?
- 5:23Speaker 1: So when is the.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Deal going to get done? Oh?
- 5:26Speaker 4: Man?
- 5:26Speaker 1: That is that mean?
- 5:27Speaker 6: That's the beauty of man.
- 5:28Speaker 7: It's not my job, but I I I don't know
- 5:30Speaker 7: what's going to happen. I know that I have the
- 5:33Speaker 7: easiest job in baseball, Like I pitched this dude, like
- 5:36Speaker 7: it's super simple for me, and so I want to
- 5:39Speaker 7: support Terrek in his prep to to three peat. I mean,
- 5:42Speaker 7: think about that, he's got a chance to three peat
- 5:44Speaker 7: as the cy Young Award winner that you're not gonna
- 5:47Speaker 7: hardly see ever in your baseball career, and he's got
- 5:50Speaker 7: a chance to do it. This all this other noise
- 5:53Speaker 7: is it is really hard on players, and so I
- 5:57Speaker 7: get to stay out of that. I get to stay
- 5:59Speaker 7: out of that fray obviously, you know, as his manager,
- 6:03Speaker 7: I want to make sure he's doing the right thing
- 6:06Speaker 7: to prepare himself for the season and control what he
- 6:08Speaker 7: can in that moment. You know, I'm notn't sure if
- 6:13Speaker 7: you were ex player, a broadcaster, a GM, a manager,
- 6:17Speaker 7: or a president.
- 6:20Speaker 6: But it's it's a it again. It's it's a good problem,
- 6:23Speaker 6: you know why.
- 6:24Speaker 7: You know why all this noise is around tered Schooble.
- 6:26Speaker 7: He's the best, Like, he is the best guy that
- 6:29Speaker 7: you could possibly have on your team, and he's a
- 6:32Speaker 7: free agent after this season. Murph's all over me.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I know, Well, Murph's like commentating on our show from
- 6:42Speaker 2: the side while a.
- 6:43Speaker 6: Murph's just pissed that we beat.
- 6:45Speaker 7: We used to beat them all over the field at
- 6:46Speaker 7: Arizona State and then we beat Now we're all of
- 6:49Speaker 7: a sudden trying to take out Milwaukee, which is a
- 6:51Speaker 7: more difficult challenge than it was at Arizona State.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Stanford, Arizona State. Super simple, just go in, go beat.
- 6:58Speaker 7: Their brains in and leave, go back to the farm.
- 7:01Speaker 7: A little more difficult now that he's he's got to rank.
- 7:05Speaker 7: We're an acc powerhouse right now.
- 7:07Speaker 2: You can ask you a question, so you've Yeah, you're
- 7:09Speaker 2: an experienced manager. I think that you probably have more
- 7:12Speaker 2: of a say than a lot of the managers we're
- 7:14Speaker 2: talking about right now.
- 7:14Speaker 4: There's like ten new managers or something.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Right, They're not going to barge into the front office
- 7:17Speaker 2: and be like, Hey, this is what I think we
- 7:19Speaker 2: should do, Like, you know your players really well, you
- 7:20Speaker 2: know the league really well. If s google's being kept,
- 7:24Speaker 2: are there conversations like hey, how are we building around
- 7:27Speaker 2: what could be the last year that we have the
- 7:30Speaker 2: best pitcher in the sport?
- 7:31Speaker 6: Yeah, so I think it's simple.
- 7:32Speaker 7: I think we're trying to win the World Series, like
- 7:35Speaker 7: we do everything we can to try to win, and
- 7:37Speaker 7: we've worked hard to go from like ten plus years
- 7:40Speaker 7: of not making the playoffs to back to back playoff seasons.
- 7:44Speaker 7: And so for me, like keep it super simple, of
- 7:47Speaker 7: like with Terrek, like come prepared to win the World
- 7:50Speaker 7: Series and do everything you can to add to that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:54Speaker 7: I have some experience in this of of big platform
- 7:57Speaker 7: years or big free agent years. Garrett Cole had in
- 8:00Speaker 7: twenty nineteen, right before he signed his mega deal with
- 8:04Speaker 7: the Yankees, he was in this exactlyas on top of
- 8:06Speaker 7: the sport. I think he finished second Cy Young that
- 8:08Speaker 7: year to Justin Verlander, and I had both of them,
- 8:11Speaker 7: which was great position to.
- 8:12Speaker 6: His position to be in.
- 8:13Speaker 7: But they those like that what Garrett did, and the
- 8:17Speaker 7: advice that I'm that I'm giving Terrek is just go
- 8:19Speaker 7: prepared to be the best possible pitcher you can. And
- 8:23Speaker 7: then obviously as the manager, like if you were the
- 8:25Speaker 7: manager of this team, who would you want to pitch
- 8:26Speaker 7: in San Diego on opening day? Derek Schouler of course, right,
- 8:30Speaker 7: And so you just stay positive along that way until
- 8:34Speaker 7: something you know could possibly change. I just for me
- 8:37Speaker 7: like trying to stay grounded in what you're responsible for.
- 8:40Speaker 7: Is way more important than getting caught up in like
- 8:44Speaker 7: what if or oh my god, this rumor or oh
- 8:46Speaker 7: my god, this team wants him.
- 8:48Speaker 6: Every team wants him, Every team should want him.
- 8:51Speaker 7: He's the best pitcher in baseball, and there there are
- 8:53Speaker 7: great pitchers around the game, but nobody's on top of
- 8:55Speaker 7: the sport the way Terrek is.
- 8:58Speaker 8: But you have him right now. So what piece are
- 9:00Speaker 8: you short? Why do you if you had this ex piece?
- 9:05Speaker 8: What pushes you to that to that World Series? This year?
- 9:09Speaker 7: So, we had a top ten offense in baseball for
- 9:12Speaker 7: the majority of the season and then things went really
- 9:15Speaker 7: south at the end of the year.
- 9:16Speaker 6: We struggled. I think we finished eleventh, So I.
- 9:18Speaker 7: Think part of that is the growth of our young
- 9:21Speaker 7: players is going to be super important. We have some
- 9:23Speaker 7: emerging young players you guys are gonna have on your show,
- 9:26Speaker 7: and you guys are going to love these guys. They're
- 9:27Speaker 7: not quite here yet. Nobody generally knows exactly how the
- 9:32Speaker 7: transition is going to go, but we're super excited about
- 9:34Speaker 7: it on the mound, and obviously we just we have
- 9:41Speaker 7: a rotation feel really good about. We had a couple
- 9:43Speaker 7: All stars in school in mys. Obviously, Jack Flaherty comes back,
- 9:45Speaker 7: Risulsen is there. Troy Melton's going to go from throwing
- 9:48Speaker 7: a bazillion in the bullpen to go into the rotation.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Super excited about that.
- 9:52Speaker 7: Obviously, the bullpen is always a work in progress, because
- 9:54Speaker 7: bullpen's are always a work in progress in the winner,
- 9:57Speaker 7: So I, you know, will vest Tyler Holton see very
- 10:01Speaker 7: entrenched at the back or near the back of the bullpen.
- 10:05Speaker 7: We're going to continue to try to keep firing in
- 10:07Speaker 7: a good player when we can, in every spot that
- 10:10Speaker 7: we that we can. The growth of these players is real.
- 10:13Speaker 7: Droyley Green back to back All Stars Torque, had a
- 10:16Speaker 7: nice season last year. Dylan Dingler, we probably weren't talking
- 10:18Speaker 7: about him at this point last year, but now all
- 10:21Speaker 7: of a sudden goal glove winner and doing an incredible
- 10:25Speaker 7: job behind the plate. So I think part of this is,
- 10:28Speaker 7: like I don't know the exact piece, Crassey, I want.
- 10:31Speaker 7: I want to say that just keep making sure your
- 10:34Speaker 7: roster has fewer and fewer holes. As you move forward
- 10:38Speaker 7: and keep firing in good players, you end up winning
- 10:40Speaker 7: a lot of games. We need to win the division,
- 10:42Speaker 7: like that's our first goal, and we were pretty close
- 10:45Speaker 7: last year until a few too many losses down the
- 10:48Speaker 7: stretch cossed us the division, but it didn't cost us
- 10:50Speaker 7: the wild card series.
- 10:52Speaker 5: You brought up your young players McGonagall, Max Clark, Maultain.
- 10:57Speaker 5: By the way, it was unbelievable in the playoffs for
- 10:59Speaker 5: you guys.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Does he job? Who's job back?
- 11:03Speaker 6: He's gonna pitch in twenty six, I just don't know when.
- 11:06Speaker 3: So you kind of have a new nucleus of guys
- 11:09Speaker 3: that can fill spots.
- 11:10Speaker 5: But if Scooball does go, you still have flairty, you
- 11:14Speaker 5: still have my eyes.
- 11:16Speaker 3: How good can this new group be of young kids?
- 11:18Speaker 5: Because when I talked to Scott Harris, he was raving
- 11:21Speaker 5: about McGonagall, about Max Clark, about.
- 11:23Speaker 3: All these guys. So how good can this?
- 11:26Speaker 5: And I don't want to put you guys out to
- 11:27Speaker 5: the pastor because you guys are still a really good
- 11:28Speaker 5: team that can win the Central and go deep. But
- 11:31Speaker 5: how good is the next wave of Tiger?
- 11:33Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 11:33Speaker 7: No, it's it's a talented system. And I think again,
- 11:36Speaker 7: I think we're trying to figure out the transition from
- 11:39Speaker 7: the from Triple A to the big leagues, and if
- 11:40Speaker 7: we have any sort of perfect potion that you can
- 11:43Speaker 7: like rub on these guys to make that transition easier,
- 11:46Speaker 7: we would do it. I mean, we we love these players.
- 11:48Speaker 7: They have they have a lot of challenges ahead to
- 11:51Speaker 7: intel the players that they can be. But but they're
- 11:55Speaker 7: super talented, you know. I I think the thing that
- 11:57Speaker 7: that I keep need to hammer home is we're trying
- 12:00Speaker 7: to win. We're trying to win this year. We've been
- 12:03Speaker 7: trying to win last year and trying to win the
- 12:05Speaker 7: year before. We're going to try to win every year
- 12:07Speaker 7: moving forward. And that that to me, like that that identity,
- 12:10Speaker 7: like that, that try that that expectation, that that push
- 12:14Speaker 7: is super important for our players to know when you
- 12:17Speaker 7: show up in Lakeland, the expectation expectations have changed the
- 12:21Speaker 7: view of you that when you guys come down to
- 12:23Speaker 7: Lakeland and you look at our team, you guys are
- 12:25Speaker 7: going to look at us as that formidable team in
- 12:27Speaker 7: the American League with some expectations.
- 12:30Speaker 6: We're going to.
- 12:30Speaker 7: Embrace that and love that. And that's changed over my
- 12:33Speaker 7: time in Detroit. When you first started coming down, there
- 12:37Speaker 7: wasn't a lot of talk of how good this can
- 12:40Speaker 7: team be. It's like, how do we keep developing? Now
- 12:43Speaker 7: we're talking about developing and winning, and we've done it,
- 12:46Speaker 7: and I think it's important that our identity changes that
- 12:49Speaker 7: that no matter you know, injuries, performance, you know, transactions,
- 12:56Speaker 7: no matter what, our identity and our expectation internally is
- 13:00Speaker 7: not going to change trying to win development.
- 13:03Speaker 8: You can always use some extra people helping these guys
- 13:06Speaker 8: develop at the big, bigue level. No better way than
- 13:09Speaker 8: a young man who has won a World Series or two.
- 13:14Speaker 8: Alex Bregman. You talked to him last year about trying,
- 13:18Speaker 8: what you know, your pitch to try to get him
- 13:21Speaker 8: to sign with you guys. What was that pitch like
- 13:24Speaker 8: last year when you when you tried to talk to
- 13:26Speaker 8: him because you kind of saw what he did in
- 13:29Speaker 8: Boston this past year with all their young guys and
- 13:32Speaker 8: Campbell and Meyer and you know Duran, all those guys.
- 13:38Speaker 8: Wouldn't that be nice for him to help you guys
- 13:41Speaker 8: grow those guys on your on your on your staff,
- 13:44Speaker 8: on your position player roster.
- 13:46Speaker 7: Yeah, when you chase something for an entire offseason and
- 13:49Speaker 7: you end up like second or third, I don't I mean,
- 13:52Speaker 7: he didn't really rank anybody.
- 13:54Speaker 6: He only picks his favorite.
- 13:56Speaker 7: You know, you get asked a lot of questions about
- 13:58Speaker 7: like what was that like, And it was like, we're
- 14:01Speaker 7: trying to we're trying to be elite. We're trying to
- 14:03Speaker 7: do the best we can to surround our players with
- 14:06Speaker 7: the with the environment to be better. And so, you know,
- 14:10Speaker 7: I think the curiousity when we came out of twenty four,
- 14:14Speaker 7: I felt like we were a little bit more of
- 14:15Speaker 7: a curiosity, right, Like, we we didn't have a terrific season,
- 14:19Speaker 7: we had a terrific second half, Like we pushed really
- 14:23Speaker 7: hard to make the playoffs, and I think there were
- 14:25Speaker 7: a lot of people in that offseason that we're curious of,
- 14:27Speaker 7: like what is this?
- 14:28Speaker 8: What do you mean?
- 14:29Speaker 4: What do you minute?
- 14:29Speaker 6: What Trek scoobl is I young? What like?
- 14:31Speaker 7: Like winning whatever thirty plus games in the last forty
- 14:34Speaker 7: what like, there was a lot of curiosity as to
- 14:37Speaker 7: like what we were all about. And then we jump
- 14:39Speaker 7: out to that that start last year, and I just
- 14:42Speaker 7: think there's more and more believers that we are a
- 14:44Speaker 7: stable teams, you know, that are trying to win, expected
- 14:47Speaker 7: to win, and and doing everything we can to you know,
- 14:51Speaker 7: to develop these young players that we love while while
- 14:54Speaker 7: maintaining a high standard of of what this game is
- 14:57Speaker 7: all about which is postseason baseball. I have a frost
- 15:00Speaker 7: full of players who who went from no experience to
- 15:05Speaker 7: playoff tested, playoff tested, to entire season of expectations where
- 15:09Speaker 7: everybody thought we were the best team in baseball and
- 15:11Speaker 7: then everybody thought we were going to be one of
- 15:13Speaker 7: the stories of failing at the end of the season
- 15:17Speaker 7: and then to the playoffs again. So we have young
- 15:19Speaker 7: players who have more playoff at bats than a lot
- 15:22Speaker 7: of players.
- 15:23Speaker 6: In the big leagues.
- 15:24Speaker 7: That's valuable and that that experience should pay dividends when
- 15:28Speaker 7: when hopefully we pushed to win the division this year.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Okay, so I have two quite quick questions for you. One,
- 15:33Speaker 5: how long did it take you to get over the
- 15:34Speaker 5: Seattle series? Because I haven't talked to you since, but
- 15:38Speaker 5: the fifteen in in Game five was one of the
- 15:40Speaker 5: greatest games I've ever seen from an emotion standpoint, from
- 15:44Speaker 5: a holy shit that just happened. No way this is
- 15:48Speaker 5: going to happen. We're bringing this guy in, They're bringing
- 15:50Speaker 5: this guy. You know chances, but all that, how long
- 15:54Speaker 5: does it take you as a manager to get over there?
- 15:55Speaker 6: Well, there's a great assumption that I'm over it as
- 15:57Speaker 6: we sit here right.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 16:01Speaker 7: I haven't seen Dan Wilson yet, but I don't even
- 16:03Speaker 7: want to look at Dan Wilson right now. You know,
- 16:06Speaker 7: I think it stays with you a while, especially when
- 16:09Speaker 7: it's an epic game like that and they're I guess
- 16:11Speaker 7: the good part of those games is there's not a
- 16:13Speaker 7: lot of what ifs, just because there was so much craziness,
- 16:17Speaker 7: Like there were so many times we were going to
- 16:19Speaker 7: lose the game and then we pull off the double play.
- 16:22Speaker 7: You know, are there so many times like we're running
- 16:24Speaker 7: out of pitching and there goes Jack Flaherty, Spike's on
- 16:26Speaker 7: twenty four hours rest, going out pumping ninety five and
- 16:30Speaker 7: doing his thing. You know, I never thought we were
- 16:32Speaker 7: going to lose that game, even when we were whatever,
- 16:35Speaker 7: bases loaded and no outs and and and until we did,
- 16:39Speaker 7: and and you know, I watched the rest of the
- 16:42Speaker 7: playoffs for the rest of the of the rest of
- 16:45Speaker 7: the postseason completely jealous of the of Toronto and Seattle
- 16:50Speaker 7: continuing to get to play, even though that was an
- 16:53Speaker 7: epic game to get eliminated on and all the all
- 16:56Speaker 7: the information, I mean, all the people that tell me
- 16:58Speaker 7: about that is like that was one of the best
- 17:01Speaker 7: games I've ever seen, and then the Dodgers and Blue
- 17:03Speaker 7: Jays pull that off in Game seven of the World
- 17:05Speaker 7: Series and we're not even the best game that played
- 17:08Speaker 7: in great playoffs?
- 17:12Speaker 8: Did you did you see what Doc did with Yamamoto
- 17:16Speaker 8: to end the World Series, the fact that he brought
- 17:19Speaker 8: him out after he threw ninety pitches the night before.
- 17:22Speaker 8: We asked Trek Scooble. I asked Terrek Scouble if he
- 17:25Speaker 8: would have done that, and he hesitated a little bit,
- 17:28Speaker 8: but he also said, I've never been in that moment.
- 17:31Speaker 8: Would you ask that of your Yamamoto, who is Trek Scuoble,
- 17:36Speaker 8: Would you have asked him of that to do that
- 17:38Speaker 8: ninety pitches come out to save your game, save your season?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yes, you would.
- 17:45Speaker 8: You would.
- 17:45Speaker 7: You would look at your guys and have a full
- 17:48Speaker 7: conversation with all of your guys onto where they are physically,
- 17:51Speaker 7: where they are emotionally, can they handle it? And you
- 17:53Speaker 7: know your guys, I mean there are some guys that
- 17:55Speaker 7: have been through a car crash, you know the next day,
- 17:58Speaker 7: and they just can't physically respond the way that the Yamamo.
- 18:02Speaker 7: It's not a one size fits all, but you definitely
- 18:04Speaker 7: have the conversation. I remember, you know, back in seventeen
- 18:07Speaker 7: when we won the World Series in La Kykele and
- 18:11Speaker 7: Verlander were on the mound when Charlie Morton got the
- 18:14Speaker 7: last out of the twenty seventeen World Series, and when
- 18:16Speaker 7: I was looking at the screen in the dugout of
- 18:19Speaker 7: like the guy's warming up, I'm like, think about what
- 18:22Speaker 7: that looks like. I have justin Verlander, Dallas Kykele just
- 18:25Speaker 7: warming up just in case with Charlie Morton on the mound.
- 18:29Speaker 7: And so guys are willing to do everything they can physically.
- 18:33Speaker 7: As a manager, my job is also to make sure
- 18:36Speaker 7: that if they can't do it, I protect the player
- 18:39Speaker 7: both physically and I think, you know, just reputation wise.
- 18:42Speaker 7: Not everybody's built to pull off what Yamamoto did. The
- 18:46Speaker 7: one thing that I think I know about Yamamoto is
- 18:49Speaker 7: like this dude's sect day after he pitches. There's an
- 18:52Speaker 7: incredible amount of throwing, which is definitely different than some
- 18:56Speaker 7: of the other guys.
- 18:57Speaker 3: And so good good can we put you? Can we
- 19:00Speaker 3: at the end?
- 19:00Speaker 5: How many people have asked me why Schoogle came out
- 19:02Speaker 5: after ninety nine pitches?
- 19:03Speaker 3: Can we put that?
- 19:04Speaker 5: Because we had a conversation before the game, and you
- 19:07Speaker 5: said you will see an emotional dump from him. And
- 19:10Speaker 5: he got the last out in the sixth inning and
- 19:11Speaker 5: he had the emotional dump.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Everyone's like, he could have gone twenty more pitches.
- 19:14Speaker 5: But what they don't know is you know him better,
- 19:16Speaker 5: Like you just said, yeah, when he has that dump,
- 19:19Speaker 5: that's it. And he had it when he got the
- 19:20Speaker 5: last out, and he came off roaring, and you were like,
- 19:23Speaker 5: all right, and then.
- 19:24Speaker 7: Yeah, we had talked about it prior to that inning
- 19:26Speaker 7: and prior to the inning before that, because I was
- 19:28Speaker 7: checking in with where where he was. Listen, in this job,
- 19:31Speaker 7: you'll never take out the picture at the right time.
- 19:34Speaker 7: You either leave him in too long or you take
- 19:36Speaker 7: him out too early. No one ever really pats you
- 19:38Speaker 7: on the back as a manager that you took him
- 19:40Speaker 7: out at the right time.
- 19:41Speaker 6: Agreed, it's all relative to what happens after that.
- 19:44Speaker 3: But I can't say that on the air.
- 19:45Speaker 7: No, I know, but I just say that's just that's
- 19:47Speaker 7: the nature of the job. That's the part of the
- 19:49Speaker 7: job that I don't even I'm numb to it now
- 19:51Speaker 7: because no matter what, I've.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Never seen a manager and I've told you is give
- 19:55Speaker 5: me more answers for every scenario before the Game's like
- 20:00Speaker 5: when you have the manager meeting, he explains everything, and no,
- 20:03Speaker 5: you can't use it on the air, but he gives
- 20:05Speaker 5: you stuff and you're like, man, he just dude has
- 20:07Speaker 5: thought about things that I would never think about crafts,
- 20:10Speaker 5: Like he's thinking about if alien lands and the right field,
- 20:13Speaker 5: how he's gonna make him be the right fielder and
- 20:15Speaker 5: we're gonna Revilely green his center and we're gonna do this,
- 20:17Speaker 5: And I'm like, what that never happens, But at least
- 20:20Speaker 5: he thought about it.
- 20:21Speaker 7: The thing that's interesting about those decisions is I don't
- 20:25Speaker 7: know how much how impactful it was for him knowing
- 20:30Speaker 7: going into that last inning, did that help him punch
- 20:33Speaker 7: out everybody? Like, Hey, I know I'm done and I'm
- 20:35Speaker 7: emptying my tank emotionally and physically. I don't know, And
- 20:40Speaker 7: I don't know what would have happened if we send
- 20:41Speaker 7: him back out, you know, I mean, I think the
- 20:44Speaker 7: questions would have been, you know, if he leaves with
- 20:46Speaker 7: the guys on base and somebody cashes in his runs,
- 20:48Speaker 7: It's like Hejay, he had the emotional outburst. He was gassed,
- 20:52Speaker 7: he was done, he's pissed all these in you didn't
- 20:53Speaker 7: protect your horse, Like that's just the nature of managing
- 20:56Speaker 7: man That's what all these the new managers are going
- 20:58Speaker 7: to learn, Like it doesn't matter. Are really what your
- 21:01Speaker 7: process did. The results are really what a lot of
- 21:04Speaker 7: judgment comes by. I have to work on a lot,
- 21:07Speaker 7: a lot more information than than the emotion of wanting more.
- 21:12Speaker 6: From a picture.
- 21:12Speaker 3: And it's tough.
- 21:13Speaker 7: I mean, that's that's that's why we you know, that's
- 21:16Speaker 7: why we get shown on your broadcast. Like every time
- 21:18Speaker 7: something stressful happens, you guys turn right to me.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Well, of course, look at that face. It's made for television.
- 21:24Speaker 2: It's what the people want. It's just what the people want.
- 21:26Speaker 2: But hey, we can go all day and this good
- 21:28Speaker 2: to see you, dude. You really appreciate the time. As always,
- 21:31Speaker 2: we'll talk there in the season. Enjoy the holidays. Hey,
- 21:35Speaker 2: manager's meeting. He's coming in hot right now. Mark's chasing
- 21:38Speaker 2: the Sorry, we're gonna talk to Walt Wise, who I love.
- 21:43Speaker 2: We were, you know, talking about the move when it happened,
- 21:46Speaker 2: when you were announced as manager. We're super pumped about it,
- 21:48Speaker 2: as I know you're looking forward to get back getting
- 21:51Speaker 2: back in that seat, and you would have just wrote
- 21:53Speaker 2: it out with with snip for a while. But you're like, hey,
- 21:55Speaker 2: I'm ready, So congratulations, great to see you.
- 21:57Speaker 4: What do you got for us?
- 22:01Speaker 9: You know, process to move fast, and you know, Alex
- 22:07Speaker 9: called me, told me I got the job, and you know,
- 22:10Speaker 9: twenty four hours later, less than that, I was I
- 22:12Speaker 9: was at a press conference in Atlanta. So you know,
- 22:16Speaker 9: it's it slowed down a little bit. Now we're just
- 22:18Speaker 9: trying to make our team better. You know, when Alex
- 22:20Speaker 9: never stops trying to do that. So he's doing it
- 22:24Speaker 9: as we speak. But uh, and I'm excited, man, excited
- 22:27Speaker 9: to get a chance to do it with this club,
- 22:30Speaker 9: you know, and for the people I work with.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Did you say, why did it take so long? It
- 22:35Speaker 2: took him like a month at public? Oh, you know what,
- 22:38Speaker 2: we just want to make sure we got it right.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm like, you had the right guy.
- 22:41Speaker 9: But it'll be honest, it probably it works better for me.
- 22:44Speaker 9: You know, if they didn't just hand me the job.
- 22:45Speaker 9: The first time we lose the series, they're going to say,
- 22:47Speaker 9: why the hell did they do it? A manager search?
- 22:49Speaker 9: You know, so you know what the process worked out? Well,
- 22:52Speaker 9: I mean, yeah, you're in limbo for a little while,
- 22:56Speaker 9: and but uh, but in the end, I think it
- 22:58Speaker 9: was it was the best best case.
- 23:01Speaker 8: Well, you're still happy he took the job. I mean,
- 23:03Speaker 8: all these meetings, you haven't.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Even had a hard time to get cratsy.
- 23:07Speaker 5: I don't think he wants You're still happy you took
- 23:09Speaker 5: the job because you got all these meetings and you're
- 23:11Speaker 5: the guy in charge.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Basically what he's asking.
- 23:13Speaker 9: Yeah, I hear you, cratsy. No, it's all good, man,
- 23:17Speaker 9: That's what you sign up for, you know. That's what
- 23:19Speaker 9: I keep telling myself anytimes something annoys me. I say, hey, man,
- 23:23Speaker 9: you signed up for this, so it's all good.
- 23:25Speaker 3: But how do how does Alex keep everything so quiet?
- 23:28Speaker 9: Yeah, it's unbelievable.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Nobody even knows who the cares.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I don't even know. I don't even know who interviewed.
- 23:36Speaker 5: You got the tightest ship he does, and all of
- 23:38Speaker 5: a sudden, everyone's like, what yeah, which is awesome, But
- 23:41Speaker 5: oh yeah, he he operates underground.
- 23:44Speaker 9: Man, you got a really really small inner circle, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 9: and so he doesn't share a lot of information and
- 23:51Speaker 9: he likes it that way and he's good at it.
- 23:53Speaker 3: But uh, he's.
- 23:54Speaker 9: Pretty relentless, you know, you just never see him working. Yeah,
- 23:58Speaker 9: he's you know, he's underground.
- 24:01Speaker 8: Isn't that? Isn't that who you Isn't that who you
- 24:03Speaker 8: want to work for? Though? Isn't that? Isn't that who
- 24:07Speaker 8: you want to work for? Is that somebody that you're
- 24:09Speaker 8: sitting there going, you know what?
- 24:11Speaker 3: I don't think you can hear you keep going, crats
- 24:13Speaker 3: I'll tell them.
- 24:14Speaker 8: Okay, just that it's somebody that you want to work for,
- 24:16Speaker 8: somebody that's tight knit and only puts people around them
- 24:20Speaker 8: that are trustworthy, people that are keeping I know everyone's
- 24:24Speaker 8: seeing it as keeping secrets, but it's Isn't that who
- 24:28Speaker 8: you want to work for? Not somebody who's like, oh
- 24:31Speaker 8: look who I'm interviewing? Look at us?
- 24:34Speaker 9: Yeah, I know you're you're right, cratsy. I mean there's
- 24:37Speaker 9: something to be said about it. And you got to
- 24:40Speaker 9: earn his trust too, you know, when here he shares
- 24:42Speaker 9: information with you. Of course, I'm the manager. I mean
- 24:44Speaker 9: that's that's that's a partnership now. But typically you know,
- 24:49Speaker 9: with Alex, you got to earn his trust man for
- 24:50Speaker 9: him to share information with you, And yeah, you don't
- 24:55Speaker 9: want your stuff floating around to you know the world,
- 24:58Speaker 9: I mean, all all your information some sad media folk.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 25:03Speaker 9: Yeah, exactly right for you guys, it's not great, but
- 25:07Speaker 9: well you know, he he he uh. I like the
- 25:09Speaker 9: way he operates, man, and he never stops working.
- 25:12Speaker 3: All right.
- 25:12Speaker 5: I got two questions for you before you before we
- 25:14Speaker 5: let you go, so we know you got to go
- 25:15Speaker 5: somewhere else. One have you threatened to beat up a
- 25:17Speaker 5: player yet a bench? People that don't know this man
- 25:20Speaker 5: is like a seventeen time black belder.
- 25:23Speaker 9: And all kinds of I'm an old man, a j oh,
- 25:24Speaker 9: stop it these players.
- 25:27Speaker 3: True, that's true, that's true. That's why it's strong, and
- 25:31Speaker 3: he will beat your ass. But my other thing is
- 25:34Speaker 3: this is one of the things that I want to know.
- 25:35Speaker 5: Everyone Braves fans will say, oh, it's just snicker It's
- 25:39Speaker 5: just Snicker Park two right now.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I love Brian Sticker. I was there when he took over.
- 25:42Speaker 3: What's your difference in managing?
- 25:44Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 25:45Speaker 1: And look, I get it.
- 25:46Speaker 9: I've had to answer this question a lot, and I
- 25:47Speaker 9: I understand it. I'll ask people, you know, are you
- 25:53Speaker 9: just like the people you work with?
- 25:55Speaker 3: You know?
- 25:55Speaker 9: I mean, and when you when you when you think
- 25:58Speaker 9: about it, I mean, it's it's kind of absurd.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Now.
- 26:00Speaker 9: I love Snitt and I'm I'm so grateful to Snit.
- 26:03Speaker 9: I wouldn't be here without him. He brought me back
- 26:05Speaker 9: into a Braves uniform. I learned a lot from him,
- 26:07Speaker 9: just like I learned from all the other managers I've
- 26:10Speaker 9: been around. You know, I started with LaRussa and ending
- 26:11Speaker 9: with Bobby Cox and and the managers in between and
- 26:14Speaker 9: and ending up with Snit. But my personality is different.
- 26:19Speaker 9: My leadership style is going to be different. You know,
- 26:22Speaker 9: it's a different voice. So yeah, it's kind of a
- 26:25Speaker 9: lazy take you to be honest with you, you know,
- 26:27Speaker 9: but I get it, you know, because I've been there
- 26:30Speaker 9: for the last eight years. What's going to change. But
- 26:33Speaker 9: I haven't been in that leadership uh position in the
- 26:36Speaker 9: last eight years, so it's been a very different role.
- 26:38Speaker 9: I've been in a supporting role, So you know, I
- 26:42Speaker 9: love Snitt, But yeah, if if if he was, if
- 26:45Speaker 9: he was taking over from me, I would expect him
- 26:47Speaker 9: to say the same things.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Well said, wow, great to see you, and congratulations, appreciate it, bro,
- 26:55Speaker 2: thank you guys.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Talk in the season. Actually, we'll see in spring. Training.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, you need a backup bullpen coach. You can
- 27:00Speaker 3: call me.
- 27:00Speaker 9: You ready man, back up bread day. You don't want
- 27:03Speaker 9: to do You're having fun doing this, but you know what, you.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Don't want to go training and then he's out.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Especially, just think training was a disney where it used
- 27:10Speaker 3: to be that great. I could just travel over.
- 27:13Speaker 2: New Nationals manager Blake Viutera is here with us at
- 27:15Speaker 2: the winter meetings. Blake, great to meet you in person.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Congratulations on the gig. How's life lately?
- 27:21Speaker 1: Thank you? Life's good. Life's good. Uh, sleep not so much,
- 27:24Speaker 1: but other than that, everything's good.
- 27:25Speaker 4: What are you doing?
- 27:26Speaker 2: What are you up to when you first just get
- 27:28Speaker 2: a role like this and it's with an organization that
- 27:30Speaker 2: now is a new front office, what's your day to day?
- 27:33Speaker 5: Like?
- 27:34Speaker 1: A lot of the day to day lately has been
- 27:35Speaker 1: trying to take care of the five week old baby,
- 27:38Speaker 1: So that's that's a little different. No, but it's been good.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Just I mean hiring the staff obviously first and foremost,
- 27:46Speaker 1: which you know, is a beast of a process when
- 27:48Speaker 1: you're hiring a twelve person staff and interviewing a lot
- 27:51Speaker 1: of different people, and yeah, trying to get everybody get
- 27:53Speaker 1: to know everybody in the organization. A lot of that.
- 27:56Speaker 3: What what what do you have? What's your uh role
- 27:59Speaker 3: in the high process? I know you're in the interviews.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Do you go to Paul Tivoni, who we had on
- 28:05Speaker 5: yesterday and say I like this person or I want
- 28:08Speaker 5: this person, or I want I like this guy, or
- 28:11Speaker 5: does he come to you and say, hey, I've got
- 28:13Speaker 5: a guy that I really like?
- 28:14Speaker 3: So how does that process work?
- 28:16Speaker 5: And how do you do you have like a roll
- 28:18Speaker 5: a decks of people that you go through or your
- 28:20Speaker 5: contact on your phone and say, oh, this person this
- 28:23Speaker 5: person was a combination.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Of yeah, it's a little bit of both. So it
- 28:27Speaker 1: was Paul and then our AGM group basically the five
- 28:30Speaker 1: of us involved in in the interview process, and a
- 28:33Speaker 1: lot of it was like they might have a few names.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I had a few names, Paul had a couple of names,
- 28:37Speaker 1: like and we kind of like start from there and
- 28:39Speaker 1: then when we narrated it down to a certain amount,
- 28:42Speaker 1: we'd all talk to the person and at the end
- 28:43Speaker 1: we'd get together and if they really like somebody, they'd
- 28:47Speaker 1: be like, hey, Blake, like, what do you go with
- 28:48Speaker 1: this one?
- 28:49Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 28:49Speaker 1: One hundred percent. If I really like somebody I'd go
- 28:50Speaker 1: to them. Hey, you guys feel good about it. So
- 28:53Speaker 1: it's just a collaborative process.
- 28:55Speaker 8: What are you looking for? What's the what are the
- 28:57Speaker 8: character traits or experience level the whole year it's going
- 29:01Speaker 8: to be talked about for you, is experience When you
- 29:04Speaker 8: bring in a guy like Randy Nor tons of big
- 29:06Speaker 8: league experience, is that something that is intimidating, Okay, he's
- 29:11Speaker 8: got a lot of big lead experience. Or is it
- 29:14Speaker 8: like I'm leaning on a guy like that, and is
- 29:16Speaker 8: that the character traits that you're looking for in guys
- 29:20Speaker 8: that are gonna fill out your staff.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Yeah. I think what we're looking for first and foremost,
- 29:24Speaker 1: just like you hear Paul talk a lot about it
- 29:27Speaker 1: in terms of relationships alignment, I want to make sure
- 29:30Speaker 1: we're bringing in people first that that care about player development.
- 29:34Speaker 1: We have a young roster, really young roster, and I
- 29:36Speaker 1: think one thing that stood out the most when talking
- 29:38Speaker 1: to every single one of our players individually was just
- 29:41Speaker 1: like they just feel like there's another gear they can
- 29:43Speaker 1: get to. They're like, we're not finished products by any means. Yes,
- 29:45Speaker 1: we're in the big leagues, but it's not like roll
- 29:47Speaker 1: the balls out there and go get them. They're like,
- 29:49Speaker 1: we have another another gear we need to get to.
- 29:51Speaker 1: We want to be pushed. We want a staff that
- 29:53Speaker 1: is gonna is gonna, you know, bring us out early
- 29:55Speaker 1: every day and show us where we can be better
- 29:57Speaker 1: and how we're gonna get there and things of that nature.
- 29:59Speaker 1: So when you're looking at building out of staff, that
- 30:01Speaker 1: was that was first and foremost, making sure somebody with
- 30:04Speaker 1: a player development background, and then obviously, you know, hiring
- 30:07Speaker 1: and Michael John's our bench coach, Like I wanted to
- 30:10Speaker 1: hire somebody I could fill my blind spots. Guy that's
- 30:14Speaker 1: he's been in the minor leagues a long time, in
- 30:15Speaker 1: the big leagues of the race for the last couple
- 30:17Speaker 1: of years. So not really a recipe in terms of
- 30:21Speaker 1: age old versus young, just more about getting good people.
- 30:24Speaker 2: And they cracked the code to a j. Do you
- 30:27Speaker 2: know what it was for hitting coaches specifically, hire someone
- 30:31Speaker 2: coming from the Twins, Dave hitting whisper.
- 30:36Speaker 3: And trying to figure where you're going with this guy.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that's where I'm going, So you just hide around,
- 30:40Speaker 2: let you pronounce his name because I'm still learning it.
- 30:43Speaker 4: But tell us about how that all went down.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Matt BORGSCHALTI Yeah, had known Mat a little bit
- 30:49Speaker 1: back when he was with Baltimore. So he originally started
- 30:52Speaker 1: with the Twins, worked up their minor league system, and
- 30:55Speaker 1: then joined the Orioles right at the time where a
- 30:57Speaker 1: lot of that young group was coming up with you know,
- 31:00Speaker 1: with Adlee and Jackson and a lot of a lot
- 31:03Speaker 1: of those young guys that are now more established guys
- 31:05Speaker 1: with the Orioles and did a really good job over
- 31:07Speaker 1: there and then went to Minnesota. Uh, Rocko hired him
- 31:12Speaker 1: this past year, and then obviously, you know, things changed
- 31:14Speaker 1: to Minnesota and they kind of started from trash with
- 31:16Speaker 1: the with the new staff. But yeah, to your point,
- 31:19Speaker 1: if we get another one like that, we'd be pretty happy.
- 31:22Speaker 8: You talked about early work. Big leaguers like aj Perzinski
- 31:26Speaker 8: do not want to see their name on early work
- 31:29Speaker 8: list because he has a routine. Guys have routines. How
- 31:34Speaker 8: do you guys have a young staff teach them, hey,
- 31:39Speaker 8: you got to work, but make it that it's their
- 31:42Speaker 8: routine and not okay up to ten. I'm in early
- 31:46Speaker 8: work with Michael John. I'm in. I'm in you know, outfield,
- 31:50Speaker 8: I'm I'm in base running. How do you make it
- 31:52Speaker 8: their routine because if you're told to do something, you
- 31:56Speaker 8: don't learn Jack, if you're asked to do something, you excel.
- 32:01Speaker 8: And guys like James would they're they're sponges. They want this,
- 32:05Speaker 8: they want to get all this information.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Eric, you're spot on, You're one hundred percent right.
- 32:11Speaker 1: A lot of it's gonna be leaning on the players
- 32:14Speaker 1: and showing them kind of like where we see them
- 32:17Speaker 1: right now, where we think they can get to and
- 32:19Speaker 1: letting them kind of lead the process. Like if they
- 32:21Speaker 1: want to buy into this, they want to they want
- 32:23Speaker 1: to do it, Like it's gonna have to be driven
- 32:25Speaker 1: by them at the end of the day. Like as
- 32:27Speaker 1: a staff, we can't tell players what to do every day.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Like they need to be self motivated to an extent,
- 32:32Speaker 1: and they need to be the ones, Hey, let's go
- 32:34Speaker 1: out there for earlier. Let's just let's get some ground balls.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Then let's go hit a little bit extra, let's do this,
- 32:38Speaker 1: let's do that. Like hopefully we're creating a culture where
- 32:41Speaker 1: where that kind of becomes the norm. And just in
- 32:44Speaker 1: a lot of these conversations with the players so far,
- 32:46Speaker 1: it seems like that's what they want.
- 32:48Speaker 5: What do the Rays do so well because everybody wants
- 32:51Speaker 5: to be the Rais and you came through the We've
- 32:53Speaker 5: been in with the Raids for a long time, and
- 32:55Speaker 5: now here you are, you get to build your own staff.
- 32:57Speaker 3: You kind of get to build your own team. What
- 32:59Speaker 3: do the Rays do?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Because because every Marlin's Peter Bendix raised even the Dodgers.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Friedman came from the Rays. Heinin bloom is now the
- 33:06Speaker 5: Cardinals from the Rays, right everyone. Derek Shelton was a
- 33:09Speaker 5: raised guy. Right now he's a manager of the Twins.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Rocco was a raised guy. He's a manager of the Twins.
- 33:13Speaker 5: What did the Rays do that's so special? Please tell
- 33:16Speaker 5: me their secret?
- 33:17Speaker 1: I personally think it's the culture. I think like just
- 33:20Speaker 1: it's an unbelievable place to work, like you come into.
- 33:23Speaker 5: Starting from where from Stu Sternberg is no longer the
- 33:26Speaker 5: owner to Ander to Kevin Cash all the way down.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Yeah, So Stu started that and then obviously, you know,
- 33:33Speaker 1: Andrew Friedman is now with the Dodgers, and then Eric
- 33:35Speaker 1: Neander were fully bought into it, and you know, you
- 33:40Speaker 1: know Stu was like his saying was, uh, you know,
- 33:43Speaker 1: break windows, just don't burn the house down. So he's
- 33:46Speaker 1: like he wanted us to try things, he wanted us
- 33:48Speaker 1: to fail, he wanted us to be innovative. He was like,
- 33:49Speaker 1: look like, you're only gonna get better if you If
- 33:52Speaker 1: you try some things and learn what doesn't work, you're
- 33:54Speaker 1: probably gonna fail more often than you than you don't.
- 33:56Speaker 1: But try some things and don't be afraid to do
- 33:58Speaker 1: so it's just it. It made it a really fun
- 34:00Speaker 1: culture to be a part of, and staff loved coming
- 34:03Speaker 1: to work every day, and it kind of bled into
- 34:05Speaker 1: the players where they were like, this is awesome, Like
- 34:07Speaker 1: they enjoyed coming to work every day, they knew the
- 34:10Speaker 1: staff cared about them as people. And I think when
- 34:12Speaker 1: you create an environment where like just players and staff
- 34:15Speaker 1: love to be there, like you get your best work.
- 34:17Speaker 1: And I think we were able to tap into some
- 34:19Speaker 1: pretty cool things with different players and obviously different staff
- 34:22Speaker 1: members too, that you see with other organizations throughout the game.
- 34:26Speaker 8: I was, I was part of fourteen different organizations, nine
- 34:29Speaker 8: in the big leagues, just bounced around everywhere. I saw
- 34:31Speaker 8: the Rays for about six weeks, and I completely agree
- 34:35Speaker 8: with what you said. But because I heard Kevin Cash
- 34:38Speaker 8: say we're gonna try this, like somebody from the front
- 34:41Speaker 8: office said this. One of our coaches said this, We're
- 34:43Speaker 8: gonna try it, but they have a lot more leeway.
- 34:46Speaker 8: Do you feel like you're the same leeway in Washington.
- 34:49Speaker 8: I'm not saying you're going to a huge market, but
- 34:51Speaker 8: I'm saying, do you have that same leeway where it's like, Blake,
- 34:55Speaker 8: that was a dumb idea, but we're okay with it.
- 34:58Speaker 8: We tried it, move on or is it Blake putered?
- 35:03Speaker 8: Did that get him out of here? You know what
- 35:05Speaker 8: I mean? Because you see Washington and the ownership firing
- 35:08Speaker 8: a lot of people year in and year out, from
- 35:10Speaker 8: a staff to managers, to pitching coaches to all that stuff.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Yeah, no, Yeah, you're exactly right. And I think that
- 35:17Speaker 1: was one thing that's probably the first thing I brought
- 35:20Speaker 1: up during the interview process with with Altibony. It was
- 35:23Speaker 1: just like, hey, like, the Raised culture is unbelievable. My
- 35:26Speaker 1: wife and I just really enjoyed our time there. It
- 35:29Speaker 1: felt like family. It was a place we love to be.
- 35:33Speaker 1: So I told Paul, I'm like, hey, if I'm like
- 35:35Speaker 1: that's something that's really important to me and if I
- 35:36Speaker 1: want to make this change to a new organization, to
- 35:39Speaker 1: the race for eleven years and a lot of people
- 35:42Speaker 1: are there, are there a long time because of that,
- 35:44Speaker 1: and Paul, you know, he made sure to let me
- 35:47Speaker 1: know that, hey, you're gonna be able to do that here.
- 35:49Speaker 1: That's that's part of what the reason why he wanted
- 35:51Speaker 1: to come over there is just the people and the
- 35:53Speaker 1: culture ownership made him feel like this was something that
- 35:56Speaker 1: they're they're buying into and they're believing in. And Paul
- 35:59Speaker 1: reiterated the same, that's just to myself. So we'll see
- 36:02Speaker 1: when we get when we get there and the season
- 36:03Speaker 1: gets rolling, But as far as I'm aware, like that's
- 36:05Speaker 1: kind of how we're gonna run.
- 36:06Speaker 5: When you and Paul sat down, did you say everybody
- 36:08Speaker 5: has to be under the age of forty every every
- 36:11Speaker 5: person that works in the organization has to be under
- 36:14Speaker 5: forty years old.
- 36:14Speaker 1: That was the rule, wasn't I think?
- 36:16Speaker 3: I mean that's when you look at your stuff.
- 36:18Speaker 5: I guess Randy Nor is older than forty, but everyone
- 36:20Speaker 5: else is like thirty, You're thirty three, yeah, yeah, and
- 36:23Speaker 5: Paul is thirty five, thirty five. So did you guys
- 36:27Speaker 5: really have a conversation about we want just the youngest
- 36:30Speaker 5: staff ever assembled? And we're gonna have so much energy
- 36:33Speaker 5: that no one can stop us.
- 36:35Speaker 1: No, you're probably think online, but we didn't. No, it's
- 36:40Speaker 1: it just ended up happening that way. And I really
- 36:42Speaker 1: it was like every higher it was. You know, we
- 36:44Speaker 1: had a handful of names for each each role, and
- 36:46Speaker 1: we talked to each of them, and it was at
- 36:48Speaker 1: the end of the day it was like, yeah, another
- 36:49Speaker 1: young guy. Like we didn't plan on it, but we
- 36:52Speaker 1: understand kind of what we're walking into and we wanted
- 36:54Speaker 1: to make one hundred percent certain that, like this was
- 36:56Speaker 1: the best person for the job, regardless of age. But yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 1: it's it's been a the young staff that's coming together,
- 37:03Speaker 1: all right.
- 37:03Speaker 8: I asked Paul Taboni about not knowing people because he
- 37:06Speaker 8: wasn't with the ORG and all that stuff, and how
- 37:08Speaker 8: you move forward CJ. Abrams, we've seen, you know, maybe
- 37:13Speaker 8: some disciplinary things from the old staff from that with
- 37:17Speaker 8: when he since he's been with the Nationals. You know,
- 37:19Speaker 8: a young guy who has a lot of potential, how
- 37:22Speaker 8: do you approach that without being like, well, actually I
- 37:25Speaker 8: was reading because he doesn't you don't know him, he
- 37:28Speaker 8: doesn't know you. How do you approach a guy like
- 37:31Speaker 8: that who clearly has to be a huge corner piece
- 37:35Speaker 8: of your team and is completely different than James Wood,
- 37:39Speaker 8: who is this lockstep, super locked in kind of player,
- 37:43Speaker 8: and CJ. Abrams is a little bit different than that.
- 37:46Speaker 8: And you can't come to the table with a predisposed idea.
- 37:50Speaker 8: So how do you handle that situation?
- 37:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean CJ. I think first off, like just
- 37:55Speaker 1: reaching out to CJ as soon as I got the job,
- 37:58Speaker 1: that was something he told me he is super appreciative of.
- 38:00Speaker 1: And you know he's in Atlanta training right now, and
- 38:05Speaker 1: and he he knows he's a big part of this
- 38:06Speaker 1: and telling him that, like, hey, man, like you're gonna
- 38:08Speaker 1: be a leader on this team. You're gonna be a
- 38:09Speaker 1: big part of the success we have a lot of
- 38:12Speaker 1: it's gonna be based off of of how you go
- 38:14Speaker 1: about your business, how you how you help us win,
- 38:16Speaker 1: how you help our younger players continue to get better.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I mean there's a lot of players on this team
- 38:20Speaker 1: that look up the CJ Abrams and want to be
- 38:22Speaker 1: c J Abrams. And I went to launch a Mackenzie
- 38:25Speaker 1: last week and you know, he told me he's, like
- 38:27Speaker 1: CJ is one of the leaders of this team. You know, obviously,
- 38:30Speaker 1: you know, you know what you mentioned. But he's young,
- 38:32Speaker 1: and he's a really really good player, and he's somebody
- 38:35Speaker 1: that we see being a huge piece of this thing
- 38:37Speaker 1: going forward. And I've enjoyed getting to know the person
- 38:40Speaker 1: first and foremost, and it sounds like he he is
- 38:44Speaker 1: really excited about what we're building.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Okay, does I mean Mackenzie Gordon, c J Rims are
- 38:48Speaker 5: getting traded then if he's gonna be a big part
- 38:51Speaker 5: of going.
- 38:55Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 38:57Speaker 1: No, I think Paul told you guys like Paul called
- 38:59Speaker 1: MC and told him about the rumors.
- 39:01Speaker 3: He was great conversation.
- 39:03Speaker 1: But Kenzie brought that up in lunch. I just wanted
- 39:05Speaker 1: to get to know Mackenzie. I wanted to get to
- 39:07Speaker 1: know kind of how we can do a better job,
- 39:09Speaker 1: what he doesn't like about the Nationals, like what we
- 39:11Speaker 1: can fix. I'm trying to kind of understand. I get
- 39:13Speaker 1: a look under the hood from all these players and
- 39:15Speaker 1: get their perspective of like what we need to do better.
- 39:18Speaker 1: But no, he mentioned he was like dude, first off,
- 39:20Speaker 1: like Paul called me and told me this, and he
- 39:22Speaker 1: was like that was unbelievable. I just appreciate he's like
- 39:25Speaker 1: he didn't tell me I'm getting traded, but he you know,
- 39:26Speaker 1: he mentioned what was going on. He's like, I just
- 39:28Speaker 1: appreciate the him being up front about it.
- 39:30Speaker 3: I love that.
- 39:31Speaker 5: I love that you're pointing our meeting when telling all
- 39:34Speaker 5: the players, because that doesn't mean a lot to the
- 39:35Speaker 5: players when the new managers.
- 39:37Speaker 3: The front office weak except him.
- 39:38Speaker 5: But you got a new catcher for Yeah, you have
- 39:42Speaker 5: a catcher in Kiber Ruiz who signed to a long
- 39:46Speaker 5: term deal. Now with one of them gonna get you're
- 39:48Speaker 5: not trading for Are you gonna do a time.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Split deep kind of thing?
- 39:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I'm gonna, you know, because that's gonna
- 39:55Speaker 5: I don't know if that if it's Paul or you
- 39:57Speaker 5: that's gonna have to make that decision. But you know, Ruiz,
- 40:00Speaker 5: when he's health, he's used to playing. Andy Ford wants
- 40:02Speaker 5: to come over and play. And Harry Ford I called
- 40:04Speaker 5: him Henry Ford.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Harry Harry Ford.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and this is his favorite player.
- 40:09Speaker 3: But I know, I but how do you manage that?
- 40:14Speaker 3: How do you manage a young guy who you need
- 40:15Speaker 3: to play to get better?
- 40:16Speaker 5: Because he was mind cal Rawley in Seattle and he's like, well,
- 40:19Speaker 5: he just signed a long term, Bill had sixty homers.
- 40:21Speaker 5: I'm never gonna play and then he gets traded to
- 40:23Speaker 5: a team, your team. Then how does it catch already
- 40:24Speaker 5: signed to a long term deal, how do you manage
- 40:26Speaker 5: the playing time?
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think with a catching position, as you know,
- 40:30Speaker 1: it's a good problem to have, but you really can't
- 40:31Speaker 1: have a fine right, you can't have enough, and it's
- 40:33Speaker 1: really hard to find good catching. So it's it's a
- 40:37Speaker 1: good problem that we're looking forward to solving together as
- 40:39Speaker 1: a group. And I think coming into spring training, I mean,
- 40:41Speaker 1: we we love Keebert, we love we love Harry, obviously,
- 40:44Speaker 1: we love our catching group. I've got a chance to
- 40:46Speaker 1: talk to each of them, and we're gonna have a
- 40:48Speaker 1: good competition in spring training. These guys are gonna come
- 40:50Speaker 1: in and and come in and compete against one another
- 40:52Speaker 1: and work and kind of show what this thing's gonna
- 40:55Speaker 1: look like based off their own their own thing.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Go for Scotti might follow up, I got I gotta
- 41:04Speaker 4: follow up on this.
- 41:05Speaker 2: So with Ruiz, public metrics not good for him on defense?
- 41:10Speaker 4: Have you spoken to him about it? Like, have you
- 41:12Speaker 4: connected with him yet?
- 41:13Speaker 2: And if not, is that something that you can talk
- 41:16Speaker 2: to a player about over an offseason.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Hey, this is a new regime coming in.
- 41:19Speaker 2: How can we provide, like you said, better resources for
- 41:22Speaker 2: you to thrive on that side.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you nailed it. That's exactly right. And you know,
- 41:26Speaker 1: we hired Bobby Wilson as our catching coach, who comes
- 41:29Speaker 1: over from Texas, did a heck of a job with
- 41:31Speaker 1: Jonaheim amongst others, Very highly respected in terms of what
- 41:36Speaker 1: he can do helping defensive catchers. And you know, he
- 41:40Speaker 1: already has like a page long of each of our
- 41:42Speaker 1: catchers and what he's gonna do to help each of
- 41:43Speaker 1: them and what they can do better at and it's
- 41:45Speaker 1: pretty in depth. It blew me away. And he's already
- 41:47Speaker 1: met with some of our catchers in West Palm Beach
- 41:49Speaker 1: and he's talked to Keeper on the phone. He's reached
- 41:51Speaker 1: out to Harry, like all these guys, Riley Drew likes,
- 41:55Speaker 1: he's talked to each one of them, so have I.
- 41:56Speaker 1: And Yeah, I'm just really happy that we're able to
- 41:59Speaker 1: get Bobby.
- 42:01Speaker 8: What are you most nervous about when you got the
- 42:04Speaker 8: big league job? When they said besides the fact that
- 42:06Speaker 8: you had a baby on the way, that probably made
- 42:08Speaker 8: you more nervous than anything, but when you when they
- 42:11Speaker 8: said you're gonna be the manager of the Washington Nationals,
- 42:15Speaker 8: did you sit there and go, Holy crap, I've never
- 42:19Speaker 8: been what. I don't even know where the manager's offices are.
- 42:24Speaker 8: I don't even like know where anything is in these
- 42:27Speaker 8: big league state Like, is there one thing that you
- 42:29Speaker 8: were like, this might be a little bit of a
- 42:31Speaker 8: learning curve.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I don't think there was one thing. But I mean
- 42:35Speaker 1: i'd be lying if I told you like, oh, yeah,
- 42:38Speaker 1: here you go, this is gonna be a cake walk.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Just don't do this. I'm gonna give you this advice.
- 42:42Speaker 5: Don't walk out and ask for the lefty with your
- 42:45Speaker 5: right arm, because it's happened to guys and they get
- 42:48Speaker 5: so just if you have to put like rn L
- 42:50Speaker 5: on your arm so when you walk out to the
- 42:52Speaker 5: mound you know which one to to call it.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Just don't do that and everything else will take care
- 42:55Speaker 3: of it.
- 42:55Speaker 1: So that might be the one thing I didn't think
- 42:57Speaker 1: about that. Oh no, I think yeah. I mean to
- 43:04Speaker 1: your point, like it's all gonna be new, right, It's
- 43:07Speaker 1: something that I haven't done before. I haven't managed the
- 43:08Speaker 1: big leagues before. And you know, I'd be lying if
- 43:11Speaker 1: I told you like this is all it's all figured out, Like, No,
- 43:14Speaker 1: we're gonna learn along the way and surround myself with
- 43:17Speaker 1: the staff that's gonna help me along the way and
- 43:18Speaker 1: cover my blind spots was the biggest thing. And just
- 43:21Speaker 1: looking forward to the new challenge and working with all
- 43:24Speaker 1: these guys.
- 43:25Speaker 2: All right, I want to finish with scenario here. I
- 43:28Speaker 2: work with AJ every day. He is a presence. He
- 43:31Speaker 2: can be a ballbuster. I know how he was as
- 43:33Speaker 2: a player too, Right, if you had an AJ, right,
- 43:37Speaker 2: and there's got to be somebody on the squad that
- 43:39Speaker 2: at least has a semblance of an AJ trait? What
- 43:42Speaker 2: do you do to kind of talk him into saying, Hey,
- 43:45Speaker 2: I know I haven't done this yet. I see the
- 43:48Speaker 2: age number on the resume, But here's why I'm the guy,
- 43:51Speaker 2: and I need you to trust me and work with
- 43:53Speaker 2: me here.
- 43:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I think goes back to building a relationship first, like
- 43:57Speaker 1: meeting them where they're at, Like understanding who they are
- 43:59Speaker 1: as a person, Understanding like what they want right, Like
- 44:01Speaker 1: what do they see? Like is it they want to,
- 44:04Speaker 1: you know, make sure they get better? Is it how
- 44:06Speaker 1: much they want to win, how much they want their
- 44:08Speaker 1: teammates to get better, like understand like what's most important
- 44:10Speaker 1: to them, kind of what has not been good in
- 44:13Speaker 1: their eyes the last couple of years. And make sure
- 44:15Speaker 1: they understand, like, hey, like you're being heard, like you're
- 44:17Speaker 1: a big piece of this thing if we're gonna go forward,
- 44:19Speaker 1: like you need to be a big piece of this clubhouse,
- 44:22Speaker 1: a peak piece of this culture. Yeah, make sure they understand, like, hey,
- 44:26Speaker 1: you're gonna be a big part of this thing moving forward.
- 44:28Speaker 3: Okay, I have to ask this, what are the Gnats
- 44:31Speaker 3: gonna sign somebody?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Because you didn't ask Paul.
- 44:34Speaker 3: I never give me an answer.
- 44:36Speaker 4: So they're doing trades.
- 44:38Speaker 3: But but my thing.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Is like, so I go back because I was with
- 44:41Speaker 5: my last years with the Braves fifteen sixteen.
- 44:43Speaker 3: They bring in Jason Worth and then they go on
- 44:45Speaker 3: and win the World Series in.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Nineteen right, And I for two years, two off seasons,
- 44:49Speaker 5: I've been saying, this is the year where the Nats
- 44:51Speaker 5: are gonna sign somebody to start the Jason Worris cycle again.
- 44:56Speaker 5: Because you had Gore, and you have Abrams, and you
- 44:58Speaker 5: have Wood and you have we haven't even talked about.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Dylan Cruz, right, but you have all these guys. So
- 45:04Speaker 3: I'm like they need some help, So when are they
- 45:06Speaker 3: gonna do that? And then every off season I'm like, oh,
- 45:08Speaker 3: they didn't do it.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Well, now here's your chance. So maybe you need to
- 45:12Speaker 5: ask the ownership. He's can I have some money to
- 45:14Speaker 5: sign some Paul money, you know, because like I think,
- 45:18Speaker 5: I know how good the Washington Nationals fan base and
- 45:21Speaker 5: the organization and NAT's Park can be when they're.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Good, and I want to see that again.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that place is awesome. I was blown away behind
- 45:27Speaker 1: nice the area is, how much, how nice the stadium is,
- 45:29Speaker 1: and then.
- 45:30Speaker 3: When they're good, they are good.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited about that. And no, I can't speak
- 45:34Speaker 1: to pass off seasons. I can only speak to this one.
- 45:37Speaker 1: And it's something that Paul and I have talked a
- 45:38Speaker 1: lot about and continue to talk through, and you know,
- 45:41Speaker 1: we'll be we'll be open minded to what's out there
- 45:43Speaker 1: and kind of talk through like what this vision looks
- 45:46Speaker 1: like the next next few years. And yeah, I.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Asked Paul, because I said, Paul, are you a one
- 45:52Speaker 5: year guy? You look out so how many years do
- 45:54Speaker 5: you try to look out in the future.
- 45:56Speaker 1: I'm just trying to get to tomorrow. First.
- 45:58Speaker 3: You do through this, you have a five week old,
- 46:01Speaker 3: so I understand that's fair. That's fair.
- 46:03Speaker 1: No, I think when you look at it, like, you know,
- 46:06Speaker 1: just talking with our staff, we got the Squeaky wagon.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Going, so we'll get that forty.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Obviously.
- 46:14Speaker 4: You know, the Squeakies.
- 46:16Speaker 8: Really happy with the group we.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Have right now, like our I really like our lineup.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I like our pitching led by McKenzie, and I think
- 46:23Speaker 1: we're building something that we hopefully is sustainable for a
- 46:25Speaker 1: long time. We're not just talking about twenty twenty six
- 46:28Speaker 1: or the twenty twenty seven year being our best one,
- 46:30Speaker 1: Like we want to be really good for you know, five, seven, eight,
- 46:32Speaker 1: nine years down down the road.
- 46:34Speaker 4: Hey, well, awesome to have you on here. Okay, you
- 46:37Speaker 4: got one work ahead.
- 46:39Speaker 8: What is the over under on amount of games before
- 46:42Speaker 8: you get thrown out? Because your temperament on here, your
- 46:46Speaker 8: temperament is you know, you seem like you're real chill,
- 46:50Speaker 8: cool and everything. You got to get in somebody's face,
- 46:52Speaker 8: but you gotta do it for real. Is it gonna
- 46:55Speaker 8: be in the first month? Are you gonna wait it
- 46:57Speaker 8: out a little bit? How's it gonna how's it gonna work?
- 47:01Speaker 8: Do you want to set the line? I want you
- 47:03Speaker 8: to set the line, all right, I.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Think it kind of depends on how it goes.
- 47:07Speaker 3: What can you argue about these days?
- 47:09Speaker 5: You can't argument I was gonna say that, Yeah, there's
- 47:11Speaker 5: not much. You were in the minor league, so you
- 47:12Speaker 5: had a BS.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Right.
- 47:14Speaker 5: You can't even argue balls and strikes anymore? Right, so
- 47:17Speaker 5: what can you argue? Let's see boring? Now she is boring.
- 47:22Speaker 3: I need fights. I need managers kicking dirt with Loopanella style.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, because everything's challenged too. What's the first
- 47:30Speaker 1: manager ejection gonna be.
- 47:33Speaker 4: The line?
- 47:33Speaker 1: Next year?
- 47:34Speaker 4: Lines? Those are still not reviewable, right.
- 47:38Speaker 3: The line like the far and FEWL line.
- 47:40Speaker 4: I guess I'm just trying to come up with something.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know why balls and strikes no, because
- 47:46Speaker 1: the players.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Well I guess if you're out of challenges.
- 47:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess if someone your nine hole hitter, goes
- 47:52Speaker 5: like this and James Wood comes up and goes.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Hey, I'm fucking go back, like watch the challenge once.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Before, Right, he's got a good comeback like I've been right.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I don't know that would be interesting.
- 48:02Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, I'm putting it pretty high.
- 48:06Speaker 8: Never getting thrown out, that's boring.
- 48:09Speaker 4: That's not gonna happen. He will get thrown out. He
- 48:11Speaker 4: will find a way.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I prom I'm gonna happen for you, Chrassy.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Thank you well, Blake, great to have you here.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Congrats on the gig.
- 48:19Speaker 2: We're excited to see what she brings to the table
- 48:21Speaker 2: for the NATSI season.
- 48:24Speaker 4: It will be there exactly, guys,
