- 1:17through Friday.
- 1:17That's how our weeks work.
- 1:19We don't start on Friday.
- 1:20We actually start on Saturday.
- 1:22That's just how we work, and this is
- 1:24Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:25In case you guys did not know that,
- 1:27it is the Inspirations for Your Life daily
- 1:29show, and our master topic for Series 5,
- 1:33Show 29 is the following, how to grow
- 1:36through every season.
- 1:39Yes.
- 1:40Building a life that creates lasting results.
- 1:43Great growth always starts below the surface, and
- 1:47that's what we're about tonight, always starting below
- 1:51the surface, Series 5, Show 29.
- 1:53Great growth always starts below the surface, and
- 1:57we're Series 5, Show 29, episode number one.
- 2:01Welcome, everyone.
- 2:02A big warm welcome for everyone here to
- 2:04the Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 2:05I am John C.
- 2:07Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:13podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, passionate lifelong learner,
- 2:19graduate student at Montclair State University.
- 2:22Yes, and I'm so grateful now to be
- 2:24a published author, so thank you very much,
- 2:26everyone.
- 2:28Thank you for joining me today for another
- 2:31episode of the ever-popular Inspirations for Your
- 2:34Life show.
- 2:36Yes, this is where I help you discover
- 2:39practical principles that help us together become stronger,
- 2:43wiser, and more intentional every single day of
- 2:48our life.
- 2:49So this week opens up a brand new
- 2:52master topic, and it begins a new journey
- 2:55for us, which I call how to grow
- 2:58through every season, Series 5, Show number 29.
- 3:01We're on the year, guys, a little over,
- 3:06or not complete through our fifth year, but
- 3:08we're in the fifth year, so we're basically
- 3:10four and a half years building a life
- 3:12that creates lasting results.
- 3:17Every tree that ever reaches incredible heights first
- 3:23spends years building strong roots beneath the surface.
- 3:27Success works exactly the same way before anyone
- 3:32applauds your achievements.
- 3:34There are countless unseen moments of preparation, discipline,
- 3:40learning, and persistence.
- 3:42Today's episode reminds us that lasting growth begins
- 3:45where few people ever look.
- 3:48It begins below the surface.
- 3:51So let's get right in there, shall we?
- 3:53Number one, strong foundations create lasting success.
- 3:58Every lasting achievement begins with a solid foundation.
- 4:04Skills, values, and character support success long after
- 4:09excitement fades.
- 4:11Build the base first, and everything above it
- 4:14becomes stronger.
- 4:17But many people want to build the top,
- 4:20and they don't want to go build the
- 4:22roots first.
- 4:23Building the roots takes time, guys.
- 4:25It takes time.
- 4:28Yes, yes, yes, guys.
- 4:29It definitely takes time.
- 4:32Number two, growth begins long before results ever
- 4:36appear.
- 4:38Real progress often happens before anyone notices it.
- 4:42The work you do today prepares you for
- 4:45opportunities that will come tomorrow.
- 4:47Never underestimate unseen growth.
- 4:51That's important.
- 4:52Number three, patience strengthens every worthwhile goal.
- 4:59Means will require time to develop.
- 5:02Patience keeps you moving when immediate results aren't
- 5:05visible.
- 5:08Great things rarely happen overnight.
- 5:11Sorry to say that.
- 5:12They take time to build, to grow.
- 5:20Number four, small daily actions create extraordinary futures.
- 5:28One positive decision may seem insignificant today.
- 5:32Repeated consistently, those small actions become life-changing
- 5:36habits.
- 5:37Daily choices determine long-term outcomes, guys.
- 5:41Yeah.
- 5:42Number five, invisible progress is still real progress.
- 5:46We've said that before, but I think it's
- 5:47important to say this again.
- 5:48Not every improvement can be measured immediately.
- 5:52Sometimes your greatest growth happens internally before it
- 5:57ever shows any signs externally.
- 6:00Trust the process.
- 6:03I know that's easier said than done, but
- 6:05we really have to trust it.
- 6:07And we have to believe that the universe
- 6:10has our back.
- 6:11Number six, preparation always comes before performance.
- 6:17You always have to prepare before any show.
- 6:20Successful people rarely perform well by accident.
- 6:23They prepare long before the opportunity arrives.
- 6:27Even though I make this look very natural,
- 6:30I've done this many, many times.
- 6:33And I still review concepts and what I'm
- 6:35going to talk to you guys about.
- 6:37So there's still some preparation.
- 6:38But yes, I can do a lot of
- 6:40ad hoc because I've been doing this a
- 6:42while.
- 6:43Preparation creates confidence, guys.
- 6:45It creates confidence.
- 6:48And the more that we get confidence, the
- 6:51stronger that confidence actually becomes.
- 6:54Number seven, consistency outperforms intensity.
- 6:58Occasional bursts of effort rarely outperform steady commitment.
- 7:03Small, consistent improvements create remarkable long-term results.
- 7:09Consistency always compounds over time.
- 7:15Number eight, deep roots create lasting stability.
- 7:18Strong roots allow trees to survive powerful storms.
- 7:22Strong character allows people to overcome life's challenges.
- 7:27Stability begins beneath the surface, guys.
- 7:31I think when we start to understand that
- 7:33and we can appreciate that, we'll know why
- 7:35it might be taking us a while.
- 7:38Number nine, every season has a purpose.
- 7:42And by seasons, I don't mean winter, spring,
- 7:44summer, fall.
- 7:44I mean every season that we have.
- 7:47Because every season we have is different in
- 7:51life, guys.
- 7:52It's different.
- 7:55Some seasons teach while others reward.
- 7:59Every experience contributes something valuable to your future.
- 8:03Learn from each one.
- 8:06Number 10, progress starts where the excuses end.
- 8:11Anybody can make excuses, but I've always said
- 8:13if you are not part of the solution,
- 8:17then unfortunately, guys, you're part of the problem.
- 8:19Excuses protect comfort but prevent growth.
- 8:22But that's why people are fast to fire
- 8:25them off.
- 8:27Progress begins when responsibility replaces blame.
- 8:31Action changes everything.
- 8:34Everything.
- 8:36Number 11, success grows from daily discipline.
- 8:41Discipline creates progress even when motivation disappears.
- 8:47Success belongs to people who continue showing up.
- 8:50Consistency builds confidence.
- 8:54Number 12, quiet work produces loud results.
- 8:59Many victories are built through unseen effort.
- 9:04Unseen effort.
- 9:07And you probably put a lot of time
- 9:08into that in the past.
- 9:10Many people never know that.
- 9:12People celebrate the achievement without seeing the preparation
- 9:16behind it.
- 9:17Let me share one.
- 9:18You guys know that I recently became an
- 9:20author, April 18th.
- 9:24And there was preparation in writing that book.
- 9:27Not just writing the book.
- 9:29I had to live the experience.
- 9:32So I had to have the experience, and
- 9:34then I could write the book, which was
- 9:35over 10 years ago.
- 9:39Let your results speak for themselves.
- 9:43Number 13, character develops before the achievement.
- 9:52Character develops before the achievement and will be
- 9:55one of the main pillars in helping you
- 10:00achieve it.
- 10:02Who you become matters more than what you
- 10:04accomplish.
- 10:05Strong character prepares you to handle greater success.
- 10:10Responsibility.
- 10:12We get handed responsibility based on the last
- 10:16that we were given and how we handled
- 10:19that.
- 10:19Growth always begins within, never outside.
- 10:25Just like with the iceberg, right?
- 10:31All starts from the bottom.
- 10:33Trust your preparation, number 14.
- 10:36When opportunities arrive, trust the work you've already
- 10:40invested.
- 10:41Confidence comes from knowing you've prepared well.
- 10:47Preparation removes unnecessary fear.
- 10:52When you prepare, I think people are still
- 10:54always going to be scared.
- 10:56But you're going to be a lot more
- 11:01comfortable because you've done the hard work, because
- 11:05you have prepared.
- 11:06I think that's an important piece that many
- 11:09people didn't understand.
- 11:13Many people don't understand that.
- 11:15I think that's important to pay attention to.
- 11:19Number 15, lasting success cannot be rushed.
- 11:27When we put the preparation and put the
- 11:29time in, we've learned the lessons.
- 11:34And by learning those lessons, we're able to
- 11:37move forward.
- 11:39We're able to not repeat them again.
- 11:41Number 15, lasting success, as I said, cannot
- 11:44be rushed.
- 11:45But I want to say something else.
- 11:46Quick success often disappears just as quickly as
- 11:49it arrived.
- 11:50Lasting success grows through patience, learning, and steady
- 11:55improvement.
- 11:57I think a lot of people, like, they
- 11:59miss that whole concept.
- 12:01The strongest foundations are built over time, over
- 12:07time.
- 12:08Number 16, small improvements compound, just like interest
- 12:13in your bank account.
- 12:15Tiny improvements, repeated every day, eventually create remarkable
- 12:20transformation.
- 12:21Progress rarely comes from one giant breakthrough, but
- 12:25from hundreds of small victories.
- 12:28Keep improving one step at a time, and
- 12:32pretty soon, you'll witness a miracle.
- 12:35Number 17, foundations determine the future.
- 12:40People can't see the foundations, OK?
- 12:45And just because we can't see them doesn't
- 12:48mean that they don't exist, OK?
- 12:53Just because of that doesn't mean they don't
- 12:56exist.
- 13:00They do exist.
- 13:07And I think sometimes it's important to know
- 13:16that we have the ability.
- 13:21But we doubt ourselves because we don't see
- 13:27it with our very own eyes or hear
- 13:33it with our ears.
- 13:36And because we can't get some thump of
- 13:40a tangible sense to it, we write it
- 13:47off.
- 13:48But it's actually on its way to us.
- 13:51The quality of your future depends on the
- 13:54strength of what you're building today.
- 13:57Strong habits create strong outcomes.
- 14:00Invest in what will support you for years
- 14:03to come.
- 14:04I think that's really an important thing.
- 14:07And that's not investment.
- 14:09I was just talking about money.
- 14:10I'm talking about investing in a sense of
- 14:12investing in, you know, could be just learning
- 14:16a new skill, right?
- 14:18Learning a new skill could be a very,
- 14:20very big thing.
- 14:24Could be a small skill.
- 14:26But it's important to know that, OK?
- 14:31And when we start to become aware of
- 14:34these things, we start to be part of
- 14:44synchronicities.
- 14:45Now, they were always there before.
- 14:47But now that we are conscious of them,
- 14:52we're getting more of these moments that seem
- 14:54to connect with things that we actually want
- 14:56in our life.
- 14:58Number 18, ladies and gentlemen, growth requires time.
- 15:02There's just no ifs, ands, or buts around
- 15:07that.
- 15:08It requires time.
- 15:12It requires time.
- 15:16And that's important, guys.
- 15:21Very, very important.
- 15:25Everything meaningful develops through seasons.
- 15:28Again, not winter, spring, summer, fall, but seasons
- 15:32in your life.
- 15:34Trying to rush the process, which so many
- 15:37do, often creates frustration.
- 15:38Instead of true progress, give yourself permission to
- 15:42grow at a healthy pace.
- 15:45I think when you can do that, you
- 15:50get rid of a lot of the stress.
- 15:53And now you're not having performance anxiety, right?
- 15:57You're not having that performance anxiety.
- 16:01I think that's something, again, that a lot
- 16:03of people just don't realize how that works,
- 16:10don't realize what's going on.
- 16:16Number 19, guys, discipline creates opportunity.
- 16:20Now, motivation is great, but I've said to
- 16:25you, motivation wanes and fades back and forth
- 16:28depending on your mood.
- 16:29So discipline is the real character we want,
- 16:34because it creates the opportunity.
- 16:36Opportunity often finds those who are already prepared.
- 16:41Daily discipline positions you to recognize and seize
- 16:45opportunities when they appear.
- 16:48So it's like our pump is primed and
- 16:52ready for it, OK?
- 16:56Success favors those who stay ready.
- 17:00When we can stay ready, the opportunity can
- 17:04cross our path at any time, and then
- 17:07we could take that inspired action.
- 17:11Inspired action.
- 17:13Number 20, guys, every day adds another brick.
- 17:20Think of your life, ladies and gentlemen, as
- 17:24a building, under construction, if you will.
- 17:29Every positive decision adds another brick to that
- 17:32precious foundation you're creating.
- 17:35Small efforts eventually become something extraordinary, like the
- 17:39cornerstones of the building that hold it together.
- 17:45Number 21, persistence builds confidence.
- 17:50Every challenge you overcome reminds you that you're
- 17:54stronger than you once believed.
- 17:58Confidence doesn't appear overnight.
- 18:02It grows in you over time when you
- 18:08refuse to quit.
- 18:14That's important, guys.
- 18:16A lot of people quit.
- 18:18A lot of people go home early because
- 18:20why?
- 18:21It's comfortable.
- 18:23It's comfortable.
- 18:29It is comfortable, and that's what people want.
- 18:32They want comfort.
- 18:33They don't want to be in discomfort.
- 18:37I didn't say pain.
- 18:38I said discomfort.
- 18:42But sometimes we have to go through some
- 18:43trials and tribulations.
- 18:44We have to go through some discomfort, right?
- 18:47After every rain, the sun always comes out,
- 18:52right?
- 18:54Number 22, good habits grow stronger daily.
- 19:00Habits become easier the more consistently you practice
- 19:05them.
- 19:06Positive routines eventually become part of your identity.
- 19:11What begins as small efforts eventually become automatic,
- 19:16automatic, and they compound.
- 19:18Remember, small efforts do compound over time, guys.
- 19:22They compound over time.
- 19:25Number 23, progress starts inside first.
- 19:28External success usually follows internal growth.
- 19:32When your thinking improves, your decisions improve as
- 19:36well, and your results begin changing as well.
- 19:40Lasting change always starts within, never outside.
- 19:46Number 24, the process creates the outcome.
- 19:51People often focus only on the destination while
- 19:55ignoring the journey.
- 19:57Yet it's the daily process that develops the
- 20:00skills, the wisdom, and character needed for lasting
- 20:05success.
- 20:08Learn to value the process, and when you
- 20:15do that, you get an appreciation, and you
- 20:21get some rewards from doing it each time.
- 20:27Number 25, keep planning positive actions, positive seeds.
- 20:33Every encouraging conversation, healthy decision, and productive habit
- 20:39is another seed planted for your positive future.
- 20:44Not every seed grows immediately, but every positive
- 20:47action has value.
- 20:49Keep planting consistently each day.
- 20:57Keep planting.
- 20:59Number 26, long-term thinking wins, hands down.
- 21:04Short-term decisions often produce temporary rewards.
- 21:09Long-term thinking creates lasting success because it
- 21:12values sustainability over quick results.
- 21:17Great achievements are built with patience.
- 21:21Somebody trying to push you or tell you
- 21:24it's got to be done now, usually doing
- 21:28that for their benefit.
- 21:30It's not something mutually to help you.
- 21:33Number 27, consistency creates momentum, and we know
- 21:38momentum isn't created by occasional effort.
- 21:41It develops when positive actions are repeated over
- 21:45and over again, which fuel them.
- 21:47Once momentum builds progress and gains steam, it
- 21:51becomes much easier to maintain.
- 21:55Number 28, strong roots survive storms.
- 21:58Like we said with the tree, life will
- 22:00always include challenges, setbacks, and uncertainties.
- 22:05Strong character, healthy habits, and clear purposes help
- 22:09us to remain steady through difficult seasons.
- 22:14Your roots determine your resilience.
- 22:18Maybe your roots aren't strong right now.
- 22:21That doesn't mean they can't become strong.
- 22:23See, we weren't built with strong roots.
- 22:28We learn how to grow strong roots.
- 22:33Just like I said before, leaders are not
- 22:38born.
- 22:39They're made.
- 22:41Number 29, preparation makes success possible.
- 22:46Behind every visible success are countless hours of
- 22:50learning, practicing, and improving.
- 22:54Preparation gives confidence because you know you've done
- 22:58the work.
- 22:59Success becomes the natural result of consistent preparation.
- 23:07Number 30, guys, great lives are built one
- 23:10day at a time.
- 23:11Nobody becomes their best self in a single
- 23:15moment.
- 23:16Great lives are built through thousands of ordinary
- 23:19decisions made with purpose and consistency.
- 23:25Every day is another opportunity for you to
- 23:29become the person you're capable of becoming.
- 23:36Just because you didn't become that person tomorrow
- 23:40doesn't mean tomorrow is not gonna be the
- 23:42day that it happens.
- 23:42You've gotta believe in yourself and know that
- 23:46it is possible.
- 23:48In closing out today, as I conclude the
- 23:52episode, remember, ladies and gentlemen, that the strongest
- 23:56growth often happens where no one else can
- 24:01see it.
- 24:04Your daily choices, quiet discipline, commitment to improving
- 24:12yourself, are building a foundation that will support
- 24:14you for years to come.
- 24:20Foundations take time, but when we have a
- 24:24solid foundation, it's gonna last for a very,
- 24:28very long time and wither many storms, right?
- 24:33You remember, what was it?
- 24:36The three, was it the bears and the
- 24:41wolf and the pigs and the three different
- 24:46types of houses.
- 24:50You remember that?
- 24:53So it was the classic fairy tale, the
- 24:56three little pigs.
- 24:58Three brothers leave home and build houses, one
- 25:02out of straw sticks and the other one
- 25:03out of bricks.
- 25:05Pretty cool, right?
- 25:07So what happens?
- 25:08The big bad wolf easily blows down the
- 25:10first two.
- 25:12First, he goes to the straw house and
- 25:14he blows it right down.
- 25:15Then he goes to his brother in the
- 25:17sticks and he blows that down.
- 25:18And then he goes to his other brother
- 25:21who has the brick house.
- 25:23And the big bad wolf, like I said,
- 25:25easily blows down the first two, but the
- 25:27brick house proves indestructible.
- 25:30This classic story teaches the value of hard
- 25:32work and preparation over taking shortcuts.
- 25:35The other three, two little brothers were in
- 25:38a rush to build their house.
- 25:40But the third little brother, he did the
- 25:42research to make sure his house was gonna
- 25:44be as strong as possible.
- 25:48Pretty cool, right?
- 25:50So what that teaches us is that if
- 25:52we prepare properly, we can set ourselves up
- 25:59for success.
- 26:02Never, ladies and gentlemen, become discouraged simply because
- 26:09your progress isn't immediately visible.
- 26:14I know it can be disheartening because you
- 26:18see other people succeeding and well, you're not.
- 26:22It doesn't mean that you should give up.
- 26:25Your success might be equal to those or
- 26:27even better than theirs, but don't you give
- 26:30up.
- 26:33Every successful person has experienced seasons.
- 26:39Where it felt like nothing was happening.
- 26:45Yet those very seasons were preparing all of
- 26:50them for future opportunities.
- 26:56See, showing up is important, doing the work
- 27:00and belief is also important consistently, right?
- 27:04With structure.
- 27:06Ladies and gentlemen, continue planting positive habits, strengthening
- 27:10your character and trusting the process day in
- 27:14and day out.
- 27:17And that's the recipe for success.
