Hello, welcome to this week's PCJ Pop.
• 0:09
My name is Shauna and I'm Olivia.
• 0:13
And this week I'm going to talk about a movie that came out in 2025 that I wanted to see
• 0:18
when it was in theaters and just never got around to it.
• 0:21
I've been waiting for it to come out into streaming for free, but it's just not.
• 0:25
And so one day I said, screw it.
• 0:27
  I have disposable income.
• 0:29
I'll pay the $3.99 rate of this.
• 0:32
  Yeah, whatever.
• 0:33
  I'm going to watch this.
• 0:34
And it's called the Long Walk.
• 0:36
  OK.
• 0:37
So the Long Walk is based off of a Stephen King novel.
• 0:42
I want to say it's one of Stephen King's first novels that he wrote and he wrote it under
• 0:47
  a pseudonym.
• 0:49
So it wasn't like under Stephen King.
• 0:52
So a little fun fact there.
• 0:54
But this movie was absolutely just heart-wrenching.
• 0:59
It's a dystopian thriller directed by Francis Lawrence based on King's novel.
• 1:04
It kind of reminded me of the Hunger Games.
• 1:07
It's a deadly annual contest in a dystopian United States where young men join this competition
• 1:15
to walk continuously for as long as they possibly can.
• 1:20
It is led by the sergeant or the major, I think they call him, who is played by Mark Hamill,
• 1:28
who we know is Luke Skywalker, who is amazing in this.
• 1:32
But it follows this core group of like teenage boys out of the group of 50 whose goal is to
• 1:37
walk for as long as they can continuously.
• 1:41
They have to maintain three miles an hour or above.
• 1:45
And if they fall below it, then they're executed.
• 1:49
  Yeah.
• 1:50
And if you are the last person standing at the end of this, you win riches and a wish for
• 1:56
  your family.
• 1:57
So again, very like Hunger Games, you know, teen death competition winner takes all.
• 2:03
But it's definitely a more adult than Hunger Games.
• 2:06
  It's very gory.
• 2:07
  You know, it's rated R.
• 2:09
I cried in this movie at just like the relationships that are formed and you know, just the people
• 2:16
who you see like what they're fighting for and just, you know, this dystopian landscape.
• 2:22
I love an end of the world dystopian movie.
• 2:24
  So I was totally sold.
• 2:27
But I am going to definitely pop this stellar cast very emotional.
• 2:32
You can watch the long walk on Amazon Prime.
• 2:36
So I'm going to street up.
• 2:38
I wanted to watch this on out of my millions subscriptions.
• 2:43
I am going to pop the long walk on Amazon Prime and that'll do it for this week's PCJ Pop.
