- 1:02That would be super dope. OK, guys, so this video is all
- 1:06about super interestingly odd things that girls with autism do
- 1:09or one really interesting thing that girls or women with an
- 1:13awesome spectrum is all to do. And I wanted to do this because
- 1:15I find it really interesting. You know there's there's a whole
- 1:17kind of like different world when you when you compare like
- 1:20males to females on the autism spectrum, there's different
- 1:23diagnostic criteria. There may be different kind of
- 1:25traits and characteristics. But I find like the certain ones
- 1:27I just think are just very fascinating that I'd like to
- 1:29talk about. And that's why I wanted to do
- 1:31this video right now because we we often talk about girls on the
- 1:34spectrum on this channel. And if you are wanting to learn
- 1:37more about girls specifically on the spectrum, I will leave a
- 1:39link for a playlist in the description down below all about
- 1:42girls on the autism spectrum. And I've interviewed from my
- 1:44friends who are girls who are on the autism spectrum, lots of
- 1:47information there and I'm sure you'll get a lot value from
- 1:49that. So without further ado, I'm
- 1:52going to get into this right now.
- 1:54So we all know that autism definitely isn't exclusive to to
- 1:57males. But there there has been some
- 1:59very interesting development in that web for many years.
- 2:03People thought that autism was just a male based thing right?
- 2:07When in actual fact it's obviously across the board.
- 2:10So it doesn't make any any difference if you're male,
- 2:13female or whatever. You know, you can have autism,
- 2:16you could not. You know, there's no difference
- 2:18there. But above all else, autism in
- 2:20girls displays very interesting behaviour.
- 2:23There's different behaviours between males and females as
- 2:25well. There's like masking and stuff
- 2:27with males that isn't as prominent as it is in females.
- 2:30The females mask way more and they have a lot more different
- 2:33kind of like difficulties than males do.
- 2:36And so I just think it's fascinating to talk about it.
- 2:38But above anything else, right? Girls display this one very
- 2:40interesting behaviour. And that behaviour, ladies and
- 2:43gentlemen watching this here right now is inappropriate or no
- 2:46or no facial gestures. Now women typically display
- 2:51women on the autism spectrum typically will display the wrong
- 2:54facial expression for the emotion that they're they're
- 2:57displaying. So if you could be talking to a
- 2:59female on the spectrum and they could be really happy, yet their
- 3:02facial expression could be completely mute, they could have
- 3:05like no facial expression at all, just completely like as if
- 3:09you're not even talking to them. But then also they could display
- 3:12a facial expression or a gesture of like extreme happiness,
- 3:16sadness, a twitch which has no relevance to the situation of
- 3:21conversation at hand. So where you typically see
- 3:24people smile and happy situations or people kind of be
- 3:28really sad and upset and have like a frown in sad situations
- 3:32or an intriguing face for intriguing situations, whatever
- 3:35an intriguing face is. You know, girls typically in the
- 3:39Autism inspection won't display these.
- 3:41Typically they will display them all but not linked up to the
- 3:45correct or it'll be inappropriate.
- 3:48So you could be talking about like a funeral or something, but
- 3:51a girl in the Autism inspection may smile about this and it's
- 3:55like it's the wrong social gesture for that situation.
- 3:58And the reason being is because autism is A at its core
- 4:01communications issue, right? It's a communication difficulty.
- 4:06And so the brain offering signals, for one is
- 4:09understanding emotions and understanding situations, then
- 4:12relaying that information to you to display the correct way to
- 4:16display your emotion in that situation and facial expressions
- 4:19to display how you feel. It's just not going to happen.
- 4:22And so with females specifically, I feel like
- 4:25females are more engaged with the emotional side of autism.
- 4:28And so therefore they are more tied to showing more facial
- 4:31gestures, but actually showing more incorrect facial gestures
- 4:35or that specific kind of event you're in or the social
- 4:39situation you're in now in terms of not having any facial gesture
- 4:42at all, this is very, very common.
- 4:44A lot of people on the autism spectrum will have difficulty in
- 4:47displaying any type of emotion through their facial gestures.
- 4:51Now women on the autism spectrum seem to be more acute to just
- 4:54not displaying any emotion at all, just completely neutral all
- 4:59the way through. They could be excessively happy
- 5:00or excessively sad with just having a neutral face, which is
- 5:03very difficult for the other people with the group to just
- 5:07judge what the person's going to be like, going off their
- 5:10Facebook, going off of their facial expressions.
- 5:13Now I definitely would say that if you're with a person on the
- 5:16autism spectrum who is a female, just try and look out and ask
- 5:19them like, hey, are you OK? Is this OK?
- 5:21Because the facial expressions are never going to match up to
- 5:24what they feel. And you know, I have this as a
- 5:26male, but on the female side of things, I think that this is way
- 5:28more prominent, again because females are more into their
- 5:32emotional side of autism spectrum, feeling more emotions
- 5:36than the males. I'm guessing this is typically
- 5:38why that happens. Now I find this really, really
- 5:40interesting and there are, you know, there are a bunch of
- 5:43different things that are different between men and women
- 5:46on the autism spectrum. I'd love to know if you want to
- 5:48see more differences between autism and girls versus boys.
- 5:51And drop me a comment down more. Let me know your thoughts on
- 5:54this subject and if I should do more videos on it.
