- 0:00Speaker 1: The great Jeff Moscher from the Inside the Birds podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: is here Inside the Birds dot com. You can listen
- 0:06Speaker 1: to the Inside the Birds podcast on all podcasting platforms,
- 0:10Speaker 1: and of course, each and every Monday and Wednesday on
- 0:12Speaker 1: Football at four right here on the Sports Best Jeff Moscher, Hello.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hey, what's going on. I'm not sure it was a
- 0:19Speaker 2: win win for Grimes. I mean, he doesn't lose, but
- 0:22Speaker 2: I mean, wow, it's.
- 0:24Speaker 1: A win win because his ask was preposterous.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it was, but he was trying to exert leverage
- 0:32Speaker 2: that he didn't have, which you get, but they probably
- 0:34Speaker 2: could have figured out a one year balloon payment type
- 0:36Speaker 2: deal so at least give him a.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Little bit more money than the qualifying offer.
- 0:41Speaker 1: But he was asking for twenty some million a year.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I mean, you're a twenty game scorer. Come on, dude. Yeah,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you know what was last year when they were playing
- 0:52Speaker 1: against somebody and was the guy that used to play
- 0:54Speaker 1: for the Sixers. Yeah, and he's like, hey, next year,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you're gonna be standing in that corner over there watching
- 1:01Speaker 1: him bead so shut your mouth. When they were playing
- 1:04Speaker 1: the guy was playing for the Cavs last year. A man,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I can't believe I can't think of his name. I
- 1:08Speaker 1: could think of Kate Scott saying his name when he
- 1:11Speaker 1: hit the three all the time.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I can't think of it either, But I know what
- 1:15Speaker 3: you're saying.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But anyway, yeah, yeah, let's start with Brown and where
- 1:20Speaker 1: this is today? Has this blown He's gonna talk in
- 1:22Speaker 1: the next couple of minutes here, I would imagine practice
- 1:25Speaker 1: is about over. Does he flash his smile say this
- 1:28Speaker 1: is all blown out of proportion, or does he comment
- 1:31Speaker 1: further on this today that this thing is not over with.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I don't think he's ever really said that.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Maybe once he said it's gets blown out of proportion,
- 1:43Speaker 2: But I mean, he's usually what he usually does is
- 1:47Speaker 2: tell the people that, yes, he's frustrated, and this is
- 1:49Speaker 2: how he copes, you know, with the reading thing on
- 1:51Speaker 2: the sideline, he explained that, you know, that was his
- 1:55Speaker 2: way of being able to cope and find some inner peace.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And you know, his tweet is, you know, very religious,
- 2:02Speaker 2: and it did from the Bible and it did insinuate
- 2:05Speaker 2: not wanting to be there. So he'll have to explain that.
- 2:08Speaker 2: But something tells me he's gonna explain his way around it. Sure, everybody,
- 2:12Speaker 2: it's fine and move on and then you know, five
- 2:16Speaker 2: six weeks from now, when he has no targets to
- 2:18Speaker 2: then we'll go through it all over again.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Well, I mean he did have like things like this
- 2:23Speaker 1: in the past and they kind of went away.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Yeah, then they always do, you know.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not saying we're never gonna get to
- 2:30Speaker 2: a day where it doesn't go away. I mean, if
- 2:32Speaker 2: we go three four more weeks and he gets you know,
- 2:36Speaker 2: like seven targets, it's gonna be a problem. But I
- 2:39Speaker 2: would say that that's also a problem with the Eagles offense.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Bang bang George Niang. By the way, it was George.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Josh, give it to me, Thanks Josh. It
- 2:48Speaker 1: was George Nyang, who's the one that told him, Yo,
- 2:51Speaker 1: shut your mouth, dude. Next year you're gonna be standing
- 2:53Speaker 1: in that corner over there, waiting for a beat to
- 2:55Speaker 1: throw you a bread crumb.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Anyway, Well, actually that might help him if he gets
- 2:59Speaker 2: five or six of the a game and nails and
- 3:00Speaker 2: then he's gonna look pretty good.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yeah that's what I'm saying.
- 3:03Speaker 1: But yeah, like, if you show that you excel in
- 3:05Speaker 1: that role, then we'll pay you. You can't ask for
- 3:07Speaker 1: it before you prove and you can do it again.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You can't give me twenty five games of it. And
- 3:12Speaker 1: then as for twenty five million, it's ridiculous anyway, I digress.
- 3:16Speaker 2: You always over ask and then you try to settle
- 3:19Speaker 2: for less, and in his case, he settled for the least.
- 3:21Speaker 3: But that's what you get.
- 3:23Speaker 1: So Brown, I want to ask you this question. Brown
- 3:26Speaker 1: had nine targets last week. He had ten the week before,
- 3:29Speaker 1: he had eight the week before that. If you got eight,
- 3:33Speaker 1: ten to nine targets every single week, should you be complaining.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I don't know that he's complaining about targets. We'll have
- 3:42Speaker 2: to hear him talk. I mean, I think he I
- 3:44Speaker 2: think with him, it's not always been about targets. It's
- 3:47Speaker 2: been about production and the ability to produce. And you know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: he has the Times expressed frustration with the quote unquote
- 3:57Speaker 2: the pass offense.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Right, that was what he said last year. What could better?
- 4:00Speaker 2: He said, the pass offense. It made a big headline.
- 4:02Speaker 2: He didn't say getting me the ball more. He was
- 4:05Speaker 2: just saying in general, the pass offense didn't look good
- 4:08Speaker 2: and he wasn't able to thrive within it.
- 4:11Speaker 3: And we're seeing that again.
- 4:15Speaker 1: We played a bite earlier from Chris Long on the
- 4:18Speaker 1: green Light Podcast. I want you to listen to what
- 4:20Speaker 1: he said here because most I think this ultimately might
- 4:24Speaker 1: be and we've talked a little bit about this, but
- 4:26Speaker 1: Chris bringing this to light, this might be the Eagles
- 4:30Speaker 1: bigger problem long term.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Take a listen.
- 4:33Speaker 4: I know the offensive lines beat up. I mean Lane
- 4:35Speaker 4: left the game. Landon Dickerson wasn't healthy when he started
- 4:38Speaker 4: this season. When you watch him, I know he's hurting
- 4:42Speaker 4: and I think he's an absolute warrior, but you know,
- 4:44Speaker 4: Stein's not Beckton. And I would go as far as saying,
- 4:49Speaker 4: if this team's gonna win with this offensive line, and
- 4:51Speaker 4: I'm not calling the offensive line out because I think
- 4:53Speaker 4: the tackles are fantastic. I think they've got a great
- 4:57Speaker 4: guard who's really been banged up right now. If they
- 4:59Speaker 4: would with this group, it would be the most unique
- 5:02Speaker 4: run that they've had, because this isn't the twenty three
- 5:05Speaker 4: go line. It's not the twenty four to OH line,
- 5:07Speaker 4: and I don't even think it's I know it's not
- 5:09Speaker 4: the seventeen oh line. So this would be if they
- 5:12Speaker 4: can make this run, pretty impressive.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So he mapped out a lot of things about this
- 5:16Speaker 1: offensive line, and if these are the problems, they're going
- 5:19Speaker 1: to have a problem getting this offense going the way
- 5:22Speaker 1: that they want to, the way that they have been successful.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Well, I would agree with that assessment if the case
- 5:29Speaker 2: is that over the course of the next fourteen or
- 5:32Speaker 2: so weeks that there's not an improvement on the offensive line. Actually,
- 5:37Speaker 2: yesterday on the Inside of the Birds Platform, we came
- 5:39Speaker 2: out with inside the Tape with Greg Cosel where he
- 5:41Speaker 2: did just really thorough discussion on the offensive line, and
- 5:46Speaker 2: I had a lot of all twenty two footage and
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'll have a big also a story on Philly Voice
- 5:50Speaker 2: today showing lots of breakdowns in the run game, especially
- 5:54Speaker 2: on the offensive line. And I think it's pretty obvious
- 5:58Speaker 2: that the multiple surgery that Landon Dickerson has had since
- 6:01Speaker 2: the end of the Super Bowl, the back surgery that
- 6:04Speaker 2: Cam Jurgens had at the end of the Super Bowl, Yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 2: after the Super Bowl, Lane Johnson being out of the
- 6:10Speaker 2: line up the last.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Two games, a new right guard who I think is fine.
- 6:13Speaker 2: He's doing fine, but he's as massive as Mackai Beckton,
- 6:17Speaker 2: who sometimes would just create space by being massive. I
- 6:20Speaker 2: think all that has factored in and so if you're
- 6:24Speaker 2: of the school of thought that Dickerson and Jurgens just
- 6:27Speaker 2: need more time as they more reps and more weeks
- 6:31Speaker 2: and distance between their surgeries and they'll they'll strengthen up
- 6:34Speaker 2: and get better, then that's that's an optimistic viewpoint there
- 6:38Speaker 2: into being what it is. I don't think talent is that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I don't think like all of a sudden became bad.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I do worry about Dickerson with the surgeries because he's
- 6:46Speaker 2: had multiple before this year. He looks kind of bigger,
- 6:49Speaker 2: more weight, so I don't know what's going.
- 6:51Speaker 3: On with his body. So there's a little concern there.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But as far as Lane Johnson or Jordan Mylotta or
- 6:57Speaker 2: you know, Steen not being who they are or Jurgens
- 7:00Speaker 2: being a lot different than last year, I did notice
- 7:03Speaker 2: in the Bucks game there was an angle block that
- 7:06Speaker 2: Steam didn't.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Make on a linebacker that he usually makes.
- 7:09Speaker 2: And I don't want to project that to be like
- 7:10Speaker 2: because it happened once, it's been happened all the year,
- 7:13Speaker 2: But there have been a couple of Jurgens blocks that
- 7:16Speaker 2: didn't hold up this year. That wasn't the first one
- 7:18Speaker 2: we saw. It was just very glaring. So I yes, So,
- 7:22Speaker 2: Chris Long's right, You're right. If this thing doesn't get better,
- 7:24Speaker 2: it's not gonna get better for Saquon.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Well, how much of what they do offensively is predicated
- 7:31Speaker 1: on the offensive line. In other words, the identity that
- 7:33Speaker 1: they had a year ago with Saquon Barkley being a
- 7:35Speaker 1: two thousand yard rusher, is that Saquon or is it?
- 7:38Speaker 3: No?
- 7:38Speaker 1: We got this great offensive line and Saquon is the
- 7:40Speaker 1: beneficiary of that line. Now he's a great talent, but
- 7:43Speaker 1: you could put Miles Sanders back there and get twelve
- 7:46Speaker 1: hundred yards or fifteen hundred yard. They didn't use Sanders
- 7:49Speaker 1: as much as they used Barkley. But having that line
- 7:52Speaker 1: and if it's not the same, you're seeing that Saquon
- 7:55Speaker 1: Barkley just can't be a two thousand yard rusher because
- 7:57Speaker 1: it says Barkley twenty six on his back.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I will answer that question with I think is a
- 8:02Speaker 2: very clear and glaring statistic that shows you the situation.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Last year, Saquon Barkley was first in the NFL in
- 8:12Speaker 2: both yards before contact total and average three point eight
- 8:15Speaker 2: yards before contact. Not three point eight yards. That's a
- 8:20Speaker 2: bad like. You know, if you're a backup running back.
- 8:22Speaker 2: You're probab probably happy if you average three point eight yards.
- 8:24Speaker 2: That's what he was getting before contact. As we all know,
- 8:27Speaker 2: we averaged over almost close to six yards per carry. Okay,
- 8:30Speaker 2: this year, Saquon Barkley is averaging one point seven yards
- 8:36Speaker 2: before contact.
- 8:36Speaker 3: That ranks thirty eighth in the league.
- 8:38Speaker 2: He has he ranks eighteenth in total yards before contact.
- 8:43Speaker 2: So I think that just went and answered your question
- 8:45Speaker 2: of how important the Eagles offensive line is to what
- 8:48Speaker 2: they do in the running game, because Saquon Barkley is
- 8:51Speaker 2: used to having pretty enormous holes to run through, and
- 8:54Speaker 2: then what made him special compared to anybody else is
- 8:57Speaker 2: that once he got through that hole, you are catching him.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And then every once in a while he'll take a
- 9:02Speaker 2: smaller hole and turn it into something even bigger.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But right now the holes are not.
- 9:06Speaker 2: There, and he's getting hit and contacted and slowed down
- 9:10Speaker 2: a lot before contact.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Here's here's a glaring number for you, Mike.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Against the Buccaneers, six of his nineteen carries went for
- 9:18Speaker 2: negative yards just thirty three percent, about thirty three percent
- 9:21Speaker 2: of his carries, and then six more went for three
- 9:24Speaker 2: yards or less. So that's in my math there that
- 9:28Speaker 2: tells me he didn't gain three yards on almost sixty
- 9:31Speaker 2: three percent of his carries.
- 9:34Speaker 1: How then, is that affected or could it affect the
- 9:37Speaker 1: passing game? Because we said ten targets for AJ last
- 9:40Speaker 1: week against the Rams. This week against Tampa he got nine.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Why are those targets not fulfilling one week but they
- 9:47Speaker 1: are the week before.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Well, obviously it's harder to pass when you're behind the
- 9:50Speaker 2: sticks and you're not used to wearing a you're behind
- 9:54Speaker 2: the sticks. Be a good running game wears down a defense.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Right how the Eagles thrive off no huddle. It is
- 10:00Speaker 2: one of their biggest weapons in Jalen Hurts is one
- 10:02Speaker 2: of the best quarterbacks I've seen in a long time
- 10:05Speaker 2: about knowing when.
- 10:07Speaker 1: To We got Mosher frozen up here. We'll try to
- 10:14Speaker 1: get him back in action on the sports Bash football
- 10:16Speaker 1: at four and one thing I want to throw into
- 10:19Speaker 1: the mix here, All right, let's add to what he's saying.
- 10:22Speaker 1: The Eagle out there's most all right, he is back
- 10:25Speaker 1: in and there you go.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just saying.
- 10:28Speaker 2: No huddle is a big part of what they do,
- 10:29Speaker 2: and it's hard to execute your offense in no huddle
- 10:34Speaker 2: when you're not ahead of the sticks. You're not wearing
- 10:37Speaker 2: down a defense, you're not marching down the field methodically.
- 10:41Speaker 3: They're not.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And well, because there's been a lot of speculations, a
- 10:45Speaker 1: lot of browns, routes and stuff are very similar, like
- 10:47Speaker 1: the heeps running the same routes, and you're like, well,
- 10:49Speaker 1: one week you ran those routes and there was a
- 10:51Speaker 1: lot of meat on the bone, and then if the
- 10:53Speaker 1: next week you ran similar routes and nothing good happened.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I mean he had nine targets only two catches. I
- 11:00Speaker 1: say this earlier. Goddard I think had two targets and
- 11:04Speaker 1: two catches. Somebody else had four targets, four catches. Somebody
- 11:08Speaker 1: else had two targets, two catches. He had nine targets
- 11:11Speaker 1: and two catches. There's a huge disparity there.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I get sort of, you know, a wishy washing
- 11:18Speaker 2: on the complaints about routes because I think the Eagles
- 11:21Speaker 2: offense we talked about this has basically been the same
- 11:24Speaker 2: construct over the last three years, and when it's working,
- 11:27Speaker 2: it's great. When it's not, Abo says it's predictable, but
- 11:29Speaker 2: you know, it looks sure look fine. In the second
- 11:31Speaker 2: half of the game against the Rams in the first
- 11:33Speaker 2: half against the right So in.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Other words, it is Aj like, are you half asking
- 11:37Speaker 1: the route? Are you not running it like to the
- 11:38Speaker 1: best of your ability? Are you like, I don't like
- 11:40Speaker 1: this route, I'm not gonna run it.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Well, well, I'll tell you this.
- 11:43Speaker 2: This is something to monitor over the course of the season,
- 11:46Speaker 2: because four games is too small a sample size. But
- 11:48Speaker 2: I did you know, we do inside the data with
- 11:50Speaker 2: Sam Finkle. He as our analytics expert and he's really
- 11:53Speaker 2: good at getting all the data and it'll be out
- 11:55Speaker 2: on Friday. But we specifically looked at AJ Brown separate
- 12:01Speaker 2: yards per separation per route run over the last three years,
- 12:05Speaker 2: and there is a decline in separation now he's getting older,
- 12:09Speaker 2: He's had some knee issues in the past, he had
- 12:12Speaker 2: hamstring issue all throughout camp and even last year. And
- 12:16Speaker 2: I do wonder if some of this is also on
- 12:19Speaker 2: AJ Brown, because when's the last time we've seen this
- 12:24Speaker 2: year AJ Brown catch the deep ball with the late
- 12:26Speaker 2: hands or the body control, which he has a lead at.
- 12:29Speaker 2: But I remember when he got to the Eagles that
- 12:31Speaker 2: year twenty twenty three, especially when they had all those
- 12:34Speaker 2: big explosive plays and touchdowns right, he was he could
- 12:38Speaker 2: beat corners over the top, and I don't see a
- 12:41Speaker 2: whole lot of him beating.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Guys by a yard or two over the top.
- 12:46Speaker 2: When he does catch the ball that is deep, it's
- 12:49Speaker 2: usually because he's just out muscling a defensive back. So
- 12:53Speaker 2: I do wonder if there's something to that. Now, the
- 12:56Speaker 2: ones that Jaylen threw him in the second half the
- 12:58Speaker 2: other day down the sideline were not catchable.
- 13:00Speaker 3: It's not his fault, but.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I do just wonder in general, and when you look
- 13:03Speaker 2: at the bigger picture, if he's losing a little bit
- 13:05Speaker 2: of that separation ability that he used to have and
- 13:08Speaker 2: what that means.
- 13:09Speaker 1: All right, well, listen, if that's the case, how bugg
- 13:12Speaker 1: of a factor is that in the offense of aj
- 13:14Speaker 1: Brown not being able to get separation and utilizing that
- 13:18Speaker 1: weapon in the offense.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, And just to be crystal clear, analytics sometimes don't
- 13:24Speaker 2: tell the full story.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Your separation.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Per route can be impacted by the route you're running
- 13:30Speaker 2: as well. You know, it's hard to beat a defender
- 13:33Speaker 2: if you're just running a quick comeback right as opposed.
- 13:35Speaker 3: To a deep post or a go route.
- 13:38Speaker 2: So we did note that two weeks ago when they
- 13:42Speaker 2: had that really bad game against the Rams in the
- 13:45Speaker 2: first half, or was it two weeks before that, the
- 13:47Speaker 2: Kent's City game, sorry Kent City game.
- 13:49Speaker 3: It seemed like every single one of aj.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Routes was was was an intermediate route and in a
- 13:55Speaker 2: quick inbreaker. He had nothing deep. So was that the
- 13:58Speaker 2: design of the offense that day was a lack of
- 14:00Speaker 2: faith of him getting open against this guy?
- 14:02Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:03Speaker 2: You'd have to be in their building and understand the
- 14:05Speaker 2: game plan to know. So I don't want to just
- 14:07Speaker 2: say because the number is down that it means he's
- 14:11Speaker 2: losing his.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Speed or athleticism.
- 14:12Speaker 2: It could be usage, but it is a number I
- 14:14Speaker 2: think that tells a decent story. And that's why I
- 14:16Speaker 2: say I want to I want to follow this over
- 14:18Speaker 2: the course of the season.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah all right, well I'm definitely looking forward to that.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I do want to say this. You know, they got
- 14:24Speaker 1: the ball to John Metchi twice the other day. Not
- 14:27Speaker 1: a lot, but hey, yeah, just two little quick, little
- 14:30Speaker 1: quick pitch and catches. These are the throws that you're like,
- 14:33Speaker 1: wellhy can't I get my best receiver the ball in
- 14:37Speaker 1: those spots because no corner wants to have to come
- 14:40Speaker 1: up and try to tackle AJ Brown. They're more inclined
- 14:44Speaker 1: to try to make a tackle on John Metchi no offense,
- 14:46Speaker 1: who's a little bit smaller than AJ. So if I
- 14:48Speaker 1: can get Aj to catch that little dumper out of
- 14:50Speaker 1: the you know, flare out of the backfield or flat
- 14:53Speaker 1: like that, good luck with a corner trying to one
- 14:55Speaker 1: on one tackle.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Him as possible.
- 14:59Speaker 2: You know, in both of those catches from match, I
- 15:01Speaker 2: believe they lined him up like kind of like an
- 15:03Speaker 2: offset fullback spot and then just throw it to him
- 15:06Speaker 2: where you can kind of confuse the defense because they're
- 15:08Speaker 2: not really paying attention to the number.
- 15:10Speaker 3: They don't recognize it. I feel like if you put Aj.
- 15:12Speaker 1: There, he was getting tight end one play.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's yelling it out and pointing to him. I
- 15:18Speaker 2: mean the Dolphins did that all the time with Tyreek Hill.
- 15:21Speaker 2: But you could just put the ball on Tyreek Hill's hands.
- 15:23Speaker 2: He's so explosive it wouldn't matter. I'm not sure that
- 15:26Speaker 2: that's the right way to manufacture touches for him.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Not the same.
- 15:30Speaker 1: So I'm just saying like he's just getting I never
- 15:33Speaker 1: round the coverage.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, they certainly played a lot of two by
- 15:37Speaker 2: two formations this year, I haven't seen as many of
- 15:40Speaker 2: those three by one content.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so certainly.
- 15:43Speaker 1: We're on the except for on the tush push goal line.
- 15:46Speaker 1: They flooded the the ones and that's it.
- 15:49Speaker 4: You know.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Goddard said that that play had been in their playbook
- 15:52Speaker 1: for four years and they finally used it. So how
- 15:55Speaker 1: much else is just needs to be dusted off now
- 15:57Speaker 1: to say, all right, the stuff we're doing. See people
- 16:00Speaker 1: seem to be catching on to let's dust some of
- 16:02Speaker 1: these off.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be funny if they averaged like three
- 16:04Speaker 2: hundred passing yards per game from here on out and said, oh,
- 16:07Speaker 2: we can have done this for the last three years.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Let me ask you this then, you know, Jalen said,
- 16:11Speaker 1: is that what y'all wanted to see? And a lot
- 16:13Speaker 1: of yeah, that's what I wanted to see. Do you
- 16:15Speaker 1: think that this offense could succeed if they flipped the
- 16:19Speaker 1: script and said we're now going to rely on aj
- 16:22Speaker 1: DeVante Jalen, it's your offense.
- 16:28Speaker 2: That's a tough question only because we've only seen that
- 16:32Speaker 2: in spurts, and I think that when they've tried to
- 16:36Speaker 2: become a more pass heavy offense, it hasn't always worked consistently,
- 16:41Speaker 2: and I don't think that they are a diversified enough
- 16:46Speaker 2: offense from a route concept. They have some talent, but
- 16:49Speaker 2: just from what they do offensively to be like that,
- 16:52Speaker 2: I think a lot of their their marriage of pass
- 16:56Speaker 2: and run is very important. A lot of what they
- 16:58Speaker 2: do in the run sets up how they throw the ball,
- 17:01Speaker 2: because you can throw the ball deep when you have
- 17:03Speaker 2: those one on ones that are created by people funneling
- 17:06Speaker 2: a lot of guys at the.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Line of scrimmage to stop your run game.
- 17:09Speaker 2: So if they came out and just tried to throw
- 17:10Speaker 2: the ball at a sixty five to seventy percent clip,
- 17:14Speaker 2: I don't know that they would see the same kind
- 17:16Speaker 2: of openings.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I mean, this is it's all speculation. It's apathetical.
- 17:20Speaker 2: They've got great players, like you said, so they should
- 17:22Speaker 2: be able to move the ball anyway. But that's why
- 17:24Speaker 2: I feel like they do it every once in a while,
- 17:26Speaker 2: but not consistently from week to week.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Well, it's like last year if the Carolina and you
- 17:31Speaker 1: might have been having this conversation, Hey, Jeff, what if
- 17:34Speaker 1: Detroit or Cincinnati or the Rams had Aj Brown and
- 17:39Speaker 1: Devonte Smith.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's the old like what if on
- 17:43Speaker 2: the other side, but like the way this team played,
- 17:45Speaker 2: the way Jalen Hurts plays quarterback.
- 17:47Speaker 3: He wants to throw most of his passes outside the numbers.
- 17:50Speaker 2: He's okay taking a sack instead of a risky throw,
- 17:54Speaker 2: and because he holds onto the ball for the most part,
- 17:57Speaker 2: they play like that because they've always had a dynasm,
- 18:00Speaker 2: have a run game to compliment it. If you start
- 18:02Speaker 2: throwing the ball around a lot, and unless.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Jalen Hurts throws differently and becomes a different style of attacker,
- 18:10Speaker 5: taking more risks, you know, throwing in tight windows, middle
- 18:13Speaker 5: of the field, things like that, then we don't really
- 18:16Speaker 5: know what the.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Offense would look like.
- 18:18Speaker 2: And I don't think it would function right. And I'm
- 18:19Speaker 2: not gonna sit here and say it can't be done, Okay.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I know that that people are gonna twist my words
- 18:25Speaker 2: and say you're saying Gentlely can't throw like everybody else.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I'm just saying that they don't do it, and that
- 18:30Speaker 2: the tape and the evidence shows you how he plays
- 18:33Speaker 2: the game, and so they've designed an offense to compliment that.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So you never know what somebody is capable of doing.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Or not doing until they get the chance to do it,
- 18:42Speaker 2: and we haven't really seen that opportunity outside of maybe
- 18:45Speaker 2: some small spurts.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Well they did it in a Super Bowl in
- 18:49Speaker 1: twenty twenty two that they didn't win the game, but
- 18:51Speaker 1: he played pretty well.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Again, that's a that's a small that's a sample size
- 18:56Speaker 2: of the whole season you go through, and they.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Ran the ball a lot that year. You know, that
- 19:01Speaker 3: was the offense, all.
