- 0:34Speaker 3: We're going to need a bigger burger.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yum, yum, yum, yum. Yeah, so good.
- 0:43Speaker 3: G'day, Mogi, you stallion. How's life?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going pretty grassy, you mad dog, you 600b. Look,
- 0:48Speaker 1: another Friday upon us here, fellas. What a huge nine
- 0:51Speaker 1: days we had leading into this with the goat no
- 0:55Speaker 1: one knows from Queens of the Stone Age at number
- 0:57Speaker 1: one as of about 6pm last night. And God, I've
- 1:01Speaker 1: just felt run ragged today.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Absolutely exhausted, drained of all my adrenaline.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:06Speaker 1: All my endorphins gone, Keezy. But we'll be gassing it
- 1:09Speaker 1: up this weekend because it's a huge one. It is
- 1:12Speaker 1: a huge one. With old Hootie J's come down with
- 1:14Speaker 1: the fellas on Sunday. We've got the Waz. We've got
- 1:16Speaker 1: the All Black.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'm going to go and see the latest Paw Patrol
- 1:19Speaker 1: movie with my daughter.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Oh, wow. Oh, how good is that?
- 1:22Speaker 1: This might be the best weekend ever.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Sounds like it.
- 1:26Speaker 4: I know what you mean, though, Mokey. I feel like
- 1:27Speaker 4: someone's just completely run through me, you know?
- 1:29Speaker 1: And I'm... Yeah?
- 1:32Speaker 4: The day after you go.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and just... What do you mean, like, run through you?
- 1:35Speaker 3: Oh, you know.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You've had someone run through you? Like, on a footy field.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Like, I've tried to tackle them.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:39Speaker 1: What are you guys.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Familiar feeling, then.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, 100%.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Like, I've gone to tackle them, and they've absolutely run
- 1:46Speaker 4: through me.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Totes, totes.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You're in a lot of highlight videos, aren't you, Keezy? Shit, yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 1: None of them are mine, though.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Boomfah! Yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Da-doosh. Yeah, sort of goofy guy goes flying. LAUGHTER How
- 2:02Speaker 1: are you, Jase?
- 2:03Speaker 3: Well, I'm like you fellas, to be honest. I feel
- 2:06Speaker 3: like I've been hit by a train.
- 2:08Speaker 1: A train?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Have you had a train run through you?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yes, a train has run through me. Oh, God. But
- 2:14Speaker 3: I tell you what, I reckon I've got just enough
- 2:18Speaker 3: in the tank for a massive Friday show.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Oh, how good. Well, we've got a massive throbber out
- 2:24Speaker 1: the back of the goat from yesterday. Today is going
- 2:26Speaker 1: to be a massive one. Actually, Moggy, what is coming
- 2:29Speaker 1: up today?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Oh. What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi?
- 2:35Speaker 1: Well, I'm really glad you asked me that one because
- 2:38Speaker 1: over the last nine days I haven't had to do that.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So when you've just asked me that, don't worry about it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm fully prepared. As discussed, we've got the throbber coming
- 2:48Speaker 1: up later in the show. I'm just warning you now.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'm warning you now. Mine is an absolute belter. Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 1: good stuff. Do you want to know the name of
- 2:56Speaker 1: the band?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Can't tell you. I do want to get an asterisk there.
- 3:02Speaker 1: We're going to have a bit of a yarn about
- 3:03Speaker 1: the Waz, another big game for them coming up Sunday
- 3:06Speaker 1: afternoon game. Very exciting.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Of course, a chance to get yourself in the draw
- 3:09Speaker 4: to potentially go to the grand final or Bathurst.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Would you rather?
- 3:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And we are going to do next, a whole lot
- 3:17Speaker 1: have come down with me, chat with Jase, who is
- 3:19Speaker 1: going to announce here live his menu. For Sunday afternoon.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Unseized. It's going to raise a few eyebrows, I think.
- 3:29Speaker 3: But in the meantime, here's Green Day.
- 3:33Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yes, indeed. Royal blood on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 3:41Speaker 3: Friday afternoon. Just a reminder, too, it's Frowd Out Shire Day.
- 3:45Speaker 3: So if you've got any Frowd Out 3483, send them through, fellas.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Shout-outs, of course. Hey, fellas, this Sunday, huge day, 2 p.m.
- 3:53Speaker 4: We all meet at Casa del Giz, a.k.a. Hoity J's house,
- 3:58Speaker 4: for Come.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Dine With Me. Yeah, mate. Come Dine With... The Feelers.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The Feelers. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert, jeez.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Also, Pugsan's here, too.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Ooh, it's Pugsan.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Is he going to be at the dinner? Afternoon.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Oh. Hey, Jase.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Hey, Pugs.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Hey, we'll be at the dinner as well. And his partner,
- 4:20Speaker 4: The Way It Works, Moggy, you hosted the first one.
- 4:22Speaker 4: We all went round there, had a lovely time with
- 4:24Speaker 4: our partners, and you do the old, what are the categories?
- 4:28Speaker 1: That's a great question, Keezy. You do the entree, the main,
- 4:30Speaker 1: the dessert, and a bit of entertainment.
- 4:32Speaker 4: And so out of a possible 40, being a 10
- 4:34Speaker 4: out of 10 for all four of those categories.
- 4:36Speaker 1: That's right. So three couples will do their score out
- 4:39Speaker 1: of 40, combine them all, and then we end up
- 4:41Speaker 1: with a score out of 10. Yeah. So I ended
- 4:44Speaker 1: up with 8.17. Yeah, good stuff. On average, it's pretty
- 4:47Speaker 1: damn good.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Bloody good.
- 4:48Speaker 1: It's really good.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Bloody good.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Jase, you're hosting us this weekend. Your theme is late
- 4:51Speaker 4: winter Christmas.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, man. It's good stuff.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm glad you think so. Talk us through.
- 5:02Speaker 4: It, man, because it's, of course, today you've got to
- 5:03Speaker 4: announce the menu.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Well, the exciting thing too is today, I'll tell you
- 5:09Speaker 3: what's been bugging me the most.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Bloody entertainment. And I was effing and jeffing this morning
- 5:15Speaker 3: about it, but it's sorted.
- 5:17Speaker 1: You've got some entertainment. Yes. Hopefully it's standing at your
- 5:21Speaker 1: window and watching the drug deals go down outside.
- 5:24Speaker 3: There you go.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Bang on.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Now, I believe what we did last time, Muggy, if
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'm correct, I have to announce my menu.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:34Speaker 3: And I can already see the look of horror on
- 5:37Speaker 3: all your faces.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Right, so you've got a starter, a main, and a dessert.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm just going to blaze through it, all right, fellas?
- 5:45Speaker 4: Hang on, I'm just trying to find some instrumental Christmas
- 5:47Speaker 4: music to put underneath it.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Okay, good. All right, here we go. Ready?
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, that's just really naff. It's going to make
- 5:56Speaker 3: my menu sound really naff. It's probably going to sound
- 5:59Speaker 3: naff anyway, but hey, here we go.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Entree. A Christmas tree pull apart with mini savoury cheesecakes.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Hang on, hang on, hang on. Wait, wait, wait. A
- 6:08Speaker 1: pull apart Christmas tree. Oh, like a garlic twist. Yum.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I'm going to have to wait and see.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Can you, one more time?
- 6:15Speaker 3: A Christmas tree pull apart with mini savoury cheesecakes.
- 6:20Speaker 1: With mini savoury cheesecake. Now, cheesecake, typically a dessert.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yes, typically sweet.
- 6:27Speaker 1: You're going with that at the start. I love the
- 6:30Speaker 1: sound of it.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Jase, you've got my curiosity. Now, is the Christmas tree
- 6:35Speaker 4: pull apart, it's savoury, and then are the little cheesecakes
- 6:39Speaker 4: like the presents?
- 6:40Speaker 1: I think this is all you're going to get.
- 6:41Speaker 4: No, no.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Because you get the name of it.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Yes. I'm not going to go into the details too much. Okay.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Because it's like winter Christmas. Here's your main. Glazed ham
- 6:53Speaker 3: on the bone. roasted whole cauliflower with spices, a fattoush salad,
- 6:58Speaker 3: duck fat roasted potatoes, non-duck fat roasted potatoes, roasted Brussels
- 7:04Speaker 3: sprouts with honey balsamic dressing.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yes, now the roast cauliflower head there, that's for your vegetarian.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yes, that's your ham equivalent.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Well, yes, I mean, as a vegan, I've had that
- 7:18Speaker 1: dish before, and that is a tricky one. And in fact,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I think I've had it at a really expensive restaurant,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and I don't know why people think you want to
- 7:25Speaker 1: eat a head of cauliflower, but sometimes they do.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It's a lot harder to do well than you would think.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I've got no doubt.
- 7:34Speaker 4: What was the, did you see the word dedouge in
- 7:36Speaker 4: there somewhere?
- 7:36Speaker 3: No, fatouche.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Oh, fatouche. What is that?
- 7:38Speaker 3: It's a salad.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Oh.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Can I say, Fatoosh, one of my partner's favourite salads.
- 7:43Speaker 1: There you go. Now then also, you've got the duck fat.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Roasted potatoes.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And also non-duck fat.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Yeah, well, just again catering to a vegetarian.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That's right. What's interesting about it is, and this will
- 7:57Speaker 1: have dawned on you already, and it will be even
- 7:58Speaker 1: clearer on Sunday. What a pain in the arse it
- 8:00Speaker 1: is having a vegetarian promotion. 100%. Oh, my God. Absolute baller.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It's so hard. Now, I say that with all the
- 8:06Speaker 1: love in the world, having been a vegan for four
- 8:09Speaker 1: years and having really no idea what a punish I
- 8:12Speaker 1: was being for other people. But it certainly adds another
- 8:16Speaker 1: dimension and an extra couple of hours of work.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I actually like it because it forces me to get
- 8:21Speaker 3: outside my square. You know, in terms of thinking of food. Right.
- 8:26Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 8:27Speaker 1: So you came up with duck fat potatoes and non-duck
- 8:30Speaker 1: fat potatoes. Jeez, you must have been.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Sitting at the computer for a while. But and my
- 8:33Speaker 3: cauliflower head. Oh, I know what I'll do. And my
- 8:37Speaker 3: roasted Brussels sprouts with honey and balsamic glaze.
- 8:41Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 8:42Speaker 4: There's a cauliflower outside the square.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Well, I've never roasted a whole cauliflower with spices. Yeah, okay.
- 8:49Speaker 3: And it is actually quite tricky. I'm a bit worried
- 8:51Speaker 3: about it. I'm worried about all of it.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I'm freaking out as well.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And finally, of course, for dessert, pavlova with fresh berries.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Hard, hard to do a Pav. Now, Pavlova's tricky now. Obviously, Jase,
- 9:03Speaker 1: you'll be cooking this yourself. Yes.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yep.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Okay, and so the good thing you've done here is it's.
- 9:08Speaker 1: My immediate feeling based on his reaction there is that
- 9:11Speaker 1: he's not doing it.
- 9:12Speaker 3: No, I am.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You're doing the Pav by yourself.
- 9:15Speaker 3: The Pav, there may be... They're maybe done by my
- 9:19Speaker 3: sous chef.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, this is what I'm saying. Oh, that's okay.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That's okay. You will get marked down for it.
- 9:23Speaker 4: But a pav's great because you can cook it and
- 9:25Speaker 4: then pull it out and actually put the cream and
- 9:27Speaker 4: stuff on it. It takes five minutes, but you pre-prepare it,
- 9:29Speaker 4: so it's smart.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and berries and stuff. There may also, with that,
- 9:34Speaker 3: be meringues.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So like mini pavlovas.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, like mini pavlovas with a bit of whipped cream.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Nice.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I'm still thinking about savoury cheesecake, man.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I've never had that before. Yeah, yeah. I don't know
- 9:45Speaker 3: what to expect. Well, I was saying, my daughter, who's
- 9:47Speaker 3: a real foodie, she was like, I'm intrigued by that.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I want to know what it is.
- 9:52Speaker 4: That's more outside the square than a cauliflower head.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 1: A cauliflower head. You know, you open the oven door,
- 9:58Speaker 1: you fling a cauliflower in your oven.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Just fit in there.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. No time flat. Da-doosh, da-doosh, da-doosh. I'm excited.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Hoy DJ, this Sunday, 2pm, of course, Pugs will be
- 10:08Speaker 4: filming it, chucking it up on social media as well.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 4: And we'll be covering it to no end next week
- 10:13Speaker 4: on the Hodaki Big Show.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, good stuff. Here's Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- 10:20Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 10:23Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yes indeed, she had there on the Hauraki Big Show
- 10:29Speaker 3: this Friday afternoon. The time is 4.27.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Jase, you are hosting us this Sunday.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Come dine with me.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And 2 p.m. I'm bloody excited. You've just talked us
- 10:39Speaker 1: through the menu, late winter Christmas.
- 10:40Speaker 3: How are we feeling about it, fellas? You feeling okay
- 10:43Speaker 3: about it?
- 10:43Speaker 1: What, the menu?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I am. Sounds delicious.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, good. It sounds delicious. Yeah, look, I've got some concerns.
- 10:53Speaker 3: My first question is, is it okay if I have sous-chefs?
- 10:58Speaker 1: You can do whatever you want.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Oh, okay. But you'll mark me accordingly?
- 11:03Speaker 1: I think so.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, if other people are doing
- 11:06Speaker 1: the work, yeah. But what if it's... It.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Might be just chopping stuff and stuff like that.
- 11:11Speaker 1: What if it's Mrs.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Hoity J helping? Like, it's a team effort. You're hosting together, right?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Well, no, because come time with the fellas. Well, certainly
- 11:21Speaker 1: put it this way. On mine, I did everything.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 1: She poured the drinks when you guys arrived.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Mrs.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Moggy was doing this and that, handing out cutlery. Yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 1: but I'm talking about the cooking.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Okay, this is my other issue.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Little Jizz. Oh, yeah.
- 11:38Speaker 3: My cat.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Your cat?
- 11:39Speaker 4: What about him?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Jizz.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Her?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Oh, sorry. I just assumed Jizz was a male.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Why would you assume that? I don't know. I've been
- 11:51Speaker 3: talking recently about the fact that she's having some behavioral issues. Oh, yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 3: She used to be an outside cat, you know what
- 11:57Speaker 3: I mean? She used to love getting the old skinks
- 12:00Speaker 3: and geckos and birds. She loved it. And now, of course,
- 12:04Speaker 3: she's cooped up in a little apartment.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 3: And she is genuinely, I believe, going nuts.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Right. What is she doing?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Well, she'll have a little swipe at you with her claws.
- 12:16Speaker 3: She'll bite you on the head. She'll bite your arm.
- 12:19Speaker 3: She'll scratch your leg. She'll bite your ankle. Like when
- 12:22Speaker 3: I'm nude, fully nude in the morning going out to
- 12:24Speaker 3: make coffee- She'll have a go.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yeah, right. How does she bite your head?
- 12:29Speaker 4: Well, she'll be– Well, she towers over Jase.
- 12:32Speaker 3: You know, she'll often be sitting on your chest or
- 12:34Speaker 3: whatever and just lunge. Right. Okay. And it used to
- 12:40Speaker 3: be kind of cute, but now it's actually getting quite bad.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Like my wife last night, she was not impressed and
- 12:48Speaker 3: was like, Jase!
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Because it was a nasty bite. And she showed me
- 12:53Speaker 3: it today and it was like– Geez. So, I mean,
- 12:56Speaker 3: I just want to put you guys on notice now
- 12:59Speaker 3: that Jizz isn't in a good place mentally. And she
- 13:03Speaker 3: may just randomly attack you. Surely you'd put her in
- 13:07Speaker 3: a room or. Well, you see, this is the thing.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I mean, I don't want to confine her even more.
- 13:12Speaker 3: She'll go insane if I put her in a room.
- 13:14Speaker 4: If Jizz, like, attacks my wife's leg or something. My
- 13:17Speaker 4: wife's actually allergic to cats.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, severely. She's not severely, but she is allergic to cats.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Does she get a bit phlegmy or something?
- 13:25Speaker 4: No, she would take an antihistamine.
- 13:27Speaker 1: It's just sneezy, you know.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So, you know, to be honest. If that cat tries
- 13:31Speaker 1: to attack my wife, I will be forced to defend her.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:35Speaker 1: All right? Right. I'll leave it at that. All right? Yeah.
- 13:39Speaker 4: To be honest, if that cat attacks Mogi's wife, I'll
- 13:42Speaker 4: also be forced to help.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But you like the menu though, right? Oh, now the
- 13:50Speaker 1: menu I like. It's more when you cook the things
- 13:56Speaker 1: on the menu, that's what I'm worried about. Yeah. Okay.
- 13:59Speaker 4: But I'm sure it'll be great, Jase. I'm sure it'll
- 14:01Speaker 4: be great, especially when the WAs are on at four.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Oh, it'll be great. That's going to be great.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Oh, the WAs, that's right.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Actually, speaking of the WAs, keep an ear out because
- 14:09Speaker 4: would you rather, as a competition we're running at the moment,
- 14:12Speaker 4: would you rather go to Bathurst or the grand final
- 14:14Speaker 4: of the NRL? High chance the WAs could be there
- 14:16Speaker 4: this year.
- 14:17Speaker 1: How good?
- 14:17Speaker 4: A cuticle's going to be playing soon when you hear it.
- 14:19Speaker 4: 0800 HODAKI.
- 14:20Speaker 1: The HODAKI Big Show.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Weekdays from four on Radio HODAKI. One simple question. One
- 14:28Speaker 2: weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 14:35Speaker 3: The NRL Grand Final or Bathurst?
- 14:39Speaker 1: That's right.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Both happening in the month of October. Of course, Bathurst
- 14:43Speaker 4: for any petrolhead like myself.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's tempting for me too.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I'm a petrolhead from way back. Really?
- 14:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 4: But to be honest, if the WAs, you know, if
- 14:53Speaker 4: they keep going how they're going, the grand final's a
- 14:55Speaker 4: real possibility. It's not a certainty, but I know which
- 14:58Speaker 4: one I'd be choosing. But we have a cue to
- 15:00Speaker 4: call this out. It's just played. We've got another one
- 15:01Speaker 4: in the next hour as well. So if you don't
- 15:03Speaker 4: get through, that's all G. Just keep listening. Should we
- 15:05Speaker 4: go to the lines, Phil?
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. G'day, Zane. How's life? Oh, is
- 15:10Speaker 3: it Zane?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yes. Sorry?
- 15:14Speaker 3: This on the way to work. Yeah, going good.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Good on you, man.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Yeah, good on you, mate. Good stuff. So what would
- 15:20Speaker 3: be your preference, Zane? Would you like the NRL grand
- 15:23Speaker 3: final or Bathurst, your backbone? Oh, absolutely the grand final NRL.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I've been a Wilder fan for a long time.
- 15:31Speaker 4: And fingers crossed that they'll make the final.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 1: They're going to rock it, babe. You never know.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Good on you, Zane.
- 15:36Speaker 1: You never know.
- 15:37Speaker 4: But hey, what do you do for a crust, by
- 15:38Speaker 4: the way?
- 15:39Speaker 3: I'm a support person.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I support people in the community, live... normal life yeah
- 15:46Speaker 2: working in Hamilton and yeah that's pretty cool good on you.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Mate you're a massive backbone well good luck with that
- 15:52Speaker 3: Zane you're in.
- 15:53Speaker 1: The draw cheers thank you so much we'll just.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Give it to him thank you let's just give it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: To Zane well we can't just give it to Zane
- 15:59Speaker 1: well he sounds like a backbone he's doing good things
- 16:02Speaker 1: for the community what.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Are you doing Keezy come on man I'm doing sweet
- 16:06Speaker 4: FA to be honest but you know it's the first
- 16:07Speaker 4: time we've done this comp we can't just give it
- 16:09Speaker 4: to Zane righto.
- 16:10Speaker 3: We'll do another one then g'day Jamie how's life.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Jamie. Hello. Hi, Jamie.
- 16:18Speaker 3: How's life?
- 16:20Speaker 2: Life is great.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Oh, good stuff. What do you do for a crust, Jamie?
- 16:23Speaker 1: I work in property management in Hawke's Bay.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Oh, yeah? Good. How's property going in the old Hawke's
- 16:32Speaker 3: Bay there? Rentals are going really well, actually.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, nice. What sort of a percentage are you
- 16:39Speaker 1: taking off the top there, Jamie?
- 16:42Speaker 3: I wish I could take a lot, but it's actually
- 16:44Speaker 3: the cheapest industry in New Zealand.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Is that right? These are about 8% to 10% probably.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I think it's way less than that.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Right, okay. Tell me, Jamie, what would be your preference?
- 16:57Speaker 3: My preference would have to be the grand final up
- 17:01Speaker 3: the wards all the way. Tell me, Jamie, who would
- 17:04Speaker 3: you take with you?
- 17:06Speaker 2: Take my hubby.
- 17:08Speaker 3: He's been a Warriors supporter since they started. Good on you, mate. Well,
- 17:11Speaker 3: you're in the draw, Jamie. Good luck. Thank you so much.
- 17:15Speaker 1: No worries.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Good on you.
- 17:16Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Thank you, Jamie.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Oh, I reckon.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Big shout out to boystrip.co.nz. You'll be travelling over with
- 17:22Speaker 4: them if you want to get a package too. I
- 17:24Speaker 4: don't think actually packages for the grand final will still
- 17:26Speaker 4: be available. I'd say they'll be sold out. But if
- 17:28Speaker 4: you want to go on a big trip, magic round,
- 17:29Speaker 4: grand final, whatever.
- 17:30Speaker 1: It might be. No, this one, there are still some available. Oh, really?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I was listening to Lane on the agenda and he
- 17:35Speaker 1: said there's still some left. Oh, my God. Yes.
- 17:38Speaker 4: I might have to go have a look at that. Oh, no,
- 17:39Speaker 4: I'm in Japan, damn it.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Of course, it is Bathurst or the NRL Grand Final.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Not just that, too.
- 17:44Speaker 4: On the Saturday, you go to the Randwick races, the
- 17:47Speaker 4: horse races. You do a pre-match cruise to the game
- 17:50Speaker 4: on the Sunday.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And you have three nights over there in Sydney as well.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Or you have three nights in Sydney with shuttles to
- 17:55Speaker 4: and from Bathurst on the Saturday and the Sunday. Will
- 17:59Speaker 4: it be wars or will it be cars, fellas?
- 18:02Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Here's Block Party.
- 18:05Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 18:09Speaker 3: You too there on the Hauraki Big Show. This Friday afternoon,
- 18:12Speaker 3: the time is 4.49. Let's talk TV. What's on the
- 18:18Speaker 3: telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah. Yeah. That's right.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Okay. I'll be honest with you, fellas. I've just been
- 18:29Speaker 1: ploughing on with the loans.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Which is a reality survival show set this season in Tasmania.
- 18:36Speaker 1: They plonk 10 contestants in the middle of nowhere with
- 18:39Speaker 1: nothing but the clothes on their back, about 80 kilos
- 18:44Speaker 1: of camera gear.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:46Speaker 1: And a few odds and sods. And, yeah, they have
- 18:48Speaker 1: to stay there as long as possible. Last person wins $ 250, 000.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It's got a New Zealander in it called Shea, who's
- 18:53Speaker 1: a possum trapper. Bloody tough going. We're down to five now,
- 18:56Speaker 1: I think.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It's bloody good. It's on TVNZ +. I won't talk
- 19:00Speaker 1: about it again until I have finished the season.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, nice, mate.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Nice.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I'll be honest with you, fellas. I didn't really watch
- 19:08Speaker 3: anything last night. I got home and my wife was
- 19:11Speaker 3: at a drama class. Oh, really? Yes, and so I
- 19:15Speaker 3: made myself some baked beans on toast. No, I didn't
- 19:19Speaker 3: do that movie.
- 19:20Speaker 4: You even had hot pot.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Filthy. No, I didn't.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Because when I left you, you said you might have
- 19:24Speaker 1: hot pot.
- 19:25Speaker 3: No, I didn't, Keezy.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Whoa, okay. Sorry. You had baked beans and.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Vogel's toast.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Vogel's toast, yum.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Bit of cracked pepper.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Is this what's on TV? What are we doing here?
- 19:37Speaker 3: I was watching YouTube, actually. Yeah, yeah. A bit of mukbang.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Which is a Korean thing where they just make a
- 19:45Speaker 4: big feast and they film themselves eating the whole thing.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Stuffing it into their face.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Yum.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Random, I know. What about you, Kesey?
- 19:53Speaker 4: I watched an episode of Outrageous Fortune season one last
- 19:56Speaker 4: night on TVNZ. An episode where Robin Malcolm's character did
- 20:02Speaker 4: something naughty.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Uh-oh.
- 20:04Speaker 4: And I'm not very pleased with her.
- 20:05Speaker 2: No.
- 20:06Speaker 1: No. Because I love Cheryl West. Cheryl West, eh?
- 20:09Speaker 5: Yes.
- 20:09Speaker 1: She's excellent.
- 20:11Speaker 4: And I love all of the characters. I love the
- 20:13Speaker 4: head police officer, Wayne, who's always following them around and
- 20:16Speaker 4: trying to track them down. And also, every single episode
- 20:20Speaker 4: makes me burst out laughing. It's such a funny show.
- 20:23Speaker 1: It is.
- 20:23Speaker 4: But it has so many great twists and turns. I
- 20:25Speaker 4: can't believe how good it is.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 1: And it's only been out for 20 years. And everyone
- 20:29Speaker 1: always bangs on about it.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Great show, but... We've only seen Corky, Hoity J's character,
- 20:34Speaker 4: on the very first episode.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 4: However, the thumbnail of the next episode, which I believe
- 20:38Speaker 4: is episode 12 maybe, has a photo of Hoity J
- 20:41Speaker 4: dressed up in a lawyer outfit. So I can't wait
- 20:44Speaker 4: for that.
- 20:44Speaker 3: What do you mean dressed up?
- 20:45Speaker 1: Just looking cool.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Just a suit, man.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you're looking cool.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Yeah, great stuff.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So I'm excited for more Corky action. Oh, Corky.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Hey, I'm excited for a bit of LMNOP.
- 20:56Speaker 1: This is a tune.
- 21:01Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 21:04Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 21:10Speaker 3: It's the Hodaki Big Show's Friday Throbber.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Doosh, doosh. Oh, Jase, a little sneaker. Yeah, you guys
- 21:19Speaker 1: didn't notice last week, but I didn't do the do
- 21:21Speaker 1: doosh doosh.
- 21:23Speaker 3: That's because Keezy's so focused on me all the time.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And who are you focused on?
- 21:27Speaker 3: Just me remembering to do it.
- 21:30Speaker 4: The only thing I'm focused on is doing a bloody
- 21:32Speaker 4: good radio show, Jase.
- 21:33Speaker 3: All right?
- 21:34Speaker 4: And good radio shows explain what their segments are.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you what the throbber is. It's Friday,
- 21:39Speaker 3: so each of us here in the studio, we each
- 21:41Speaker 3: pick what we consider to be a throbber to kick
- 21:45Speaker 3: off your Friday night, get you in the party mode.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Then you give us a call on 0800 HODAKI, and
- 21:51Speaker 3: first of two wins.
- 21:53Speaker 4: That's right. We also keep score. Jase, fresh off a victory.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Last week we were live in Wellington and you chose Tool.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Fresh off two victories, Kenzie.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 22:00Speaker 1: Back to back, baby.
- 22:01Speaker 4: So, are you on seven or eight then?
- 22:05Speaker 1: Well, he's on, last week, whatever it said, plus one.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Because the week before we did it.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 22:09Speaker 4: But you chose Tool, Undertow last week, and the pub
- 22:12Speaker 4: went off.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I tell you what, every time we played a song...
- 22:16Speaker 1: The crowd reacted by making zero noise. Yeah. It was pumping.
- 22:20Speaker 4: But today's srobber, all of us, well, me and Mogi,
- 22:22Speaker 4: think we've got a couple of absolute doozies.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 22:25Speaker 1: So maybe we'll get Jason's one up.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Head to head with old Keezy and Mogi. Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 4: No, we'll get yours out of the way first, Jase.
- 22:31Speaker 1: What song have you chosen? Get it out of the way.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I went a bit of Velvet Revolver.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Let It Roll.
- 22:35Speaker 3: She's the one with Mr.
- 22:40Speaker 5: Candy, candy.
- 22:41Speaker 1: You love Jason, that's why, don't you? Quite a good tune. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: what was that called?
- 22:58Speaker 3: I Let It Roll by Velvet Revolver.
- 23:01Speaker 1: All right. The problem with you, Jase, is you ain't
- 23:03Speaker 1: got no backbone. Got no backbone.
- 23:06Speaker 3: A song called Backbone from Stormzy. I know where you
- 23:10Speaker 3: got that one, Keezy.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You saw it playing over the top of a Warriors
- 23:16Speaker 1: video earlier this week. Because it's Valmunga's 50th game. Is
- 23:28Speaker 1: that what happened? No. Okay. It's on my list of throbbers.
- 23:31Speaker 4: And as I was looking through, I was like, have
- 23:32Speaker 4: I chosen Backbone yet?
- 23:33Speaker 3: Backbone. Do you have a list of throbbers?
- 23:35Speaker 1: I do, yeah. It's about 50, 60 songs long. Wow.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Holy heck. Fellas, I've gone with some good old-fashioned grunge.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Crank it up. Here come the drums.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Great stuff. Well, there you go.
- 24:08Speaker 1: What's that song? It's called Territorial Pisses. Oh, Territorial Pisses.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I don't like the fact you played a dial tone
- 24:14Speaker 1: over the top of it there, Keezy, but we'll come
- 24:16Speaker 1: to that later.
- 24:18Speaker 3: It's your choice, New Zealand. Give us a call on
- 24:20Speaker 3: 0800 Hauraki. In the meantime, it's Arctic Monkeys.
- 24:25Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 24:30Speaker 3: It's the Hauraki Big Show's Friday Throbber. Yeah. Good stuff.
- 24:40Speaker 4: The Friday Throbber, fellas.
- 24:41Speaker 1: What's weird about the Dooge Dooge that we do there
- 24:43Speaker 1: is Jase takes that more seriously than he does the Throbber.
- 24:46Speaker 4: And he always looks at me like, ha ha. I
- 24:49Speaker 4: said Dooge Dooge.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I didn't forget this time.
- 24:51Speaker 4: But the Friday Throbber, we each pick an amazing song
- 24:54Speaker 4: to get your weekend off to a rips in order.
- 24:55Speaker 4: You then call us on 0800 Hauraki and vote for
- 24:57Speaker 4: which one you'd like to hear.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, man. Jase, you went first. What was the
- 25:01Speaker 1: name of yours?
- 25:01Speaker 3: Velvet Revolver. Let her roll.
- 25:14Speaker 4: That's a nice tune for me.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I've never heard it.
- 25:17Speaker 4: It's a neat little tune. I chose a song called.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Come on, man.
- 25:21Speaker 1: It's a sassy little number.
- 25:23Speaker 4: I chose a song called Backbone from Stormzy.
- 25:25Speaker 1: He stole that from us, by the way. He's got
- 25:29Speaker 1: kilos and ounces, Keezy. Hell yeah, he does.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Yeah, boy.
- 25:32Speaker 3: And Mogi. I've gone with Territorial Pissings by Nirvana.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Because it's got a guitar in it. Yeah, man. It's
- 25:48Speaker 1: got some drums in it. Yeah, boy.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Yes, indeed. Well, it's your choice, New Zealand. Let's go
- 26:03Speaker 3: to the phone lines. G'day, Reuben. You're back, man. How's life?
- 26:06Speaker 1: Not bad, man. Not bad, bastard.
- 26:08Speaker 3: What's going on? Yeah, I'm just doing a radio show, man.
- 26:10Speaker 3: What are you running with there, mate? It has to
- 26:13Speaker 3: be Old Mogi.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Old Mogi over there.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Old Mogi. Good on you, brother. Yeah, brother.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Yeah, good on you, Ruben, you backbone. All right, on
- 26:22Speaker 3: to the next caller. G'day, Haydo, you mad bastard. How's life? Well, pal.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I wish you'd bring that back. Yeah, man, yeah. All right, Hayden,
- 26:31Speaker 3: what are you running with, mate?
- 26:33Speaker 2: I'm actually going with you today, just thought.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Because you've done a good job, brother.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Oh, thanks, mate. Good on you, man. There you go, Jase.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Well done, man.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Thanks. Good for you, man. Good stuff, mate. All right,
- 26:42Speaker 1: thank you, Hayden.
- 26:44Speaker 3: G'day, Ryland. How's life?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Yeah, going pretty well.
- 26:47Speaker 4: What are you doing?
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 26:50Speaker 3: What are you running with, Ryland?
- 26:52Speaker 1: I'm actually running with Keezy with the allocation status.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Oh, get on your own.
- 26:56Speaker 1: This is exciting, guys.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Thank you, mate.
- 26:57Speaker 1: You have a lovely weekend.
- 26:59Speaker 3: So that means that, Joss, you're the decider. What are
- 27:04Speaker 3: you running with?
- 27:06Speaker 1: Keezy. Keezy. Keezy.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Keezy. Keezy.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Wait, so you're saying Keezy, Jock? No, I go for Mogi. Damn!
- 27:15Speaker 3: I had a feeling.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Cheers, brother.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I had a feeling he was going to do a
- 27:20Speaker 4: stitch-up like that.
- 27:21Speaker 1: That's good stuff from you, man.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Why did you ask him?
- 27:23Speaker 1: Because he was going to do it.
- 27:25Speaker 4: I can tell.
- 27:26Speaker 3: You should have gone, good stuff, mate.
- 27:28Speaker 5: See you later.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Goodbye.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Good on you, mate. Great choice. Great tune. Territorial Pissing's Nirvana.
- 27:35Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 27:38Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Holy hecka, say what you like about that bloke. God,
- 27:45Speaker 1: he's got a beautiful voice on him. Doesn't he?
- 27:48Speaker 3: So harmonic.
- 27:49Speaker 4: I don't like that song. Like, I love Nirvana, but
- 27:53Speaker 4: I was like, I've never really listened to this song.
- 27:55Speaker 4: I think it's because I skip it.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah, right. I must do. It's just too intense for me.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. It's okay, Keith.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Not everyone can handle it, man. I can't handle it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Not everyone can handle the territorial pissing from Nirvana.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, true.
- 28:07Speaker 4: The game as well is quite full on. But Mogi
- 28:09Speaker 4: wins the Throbber. Actually, fun fact, it's the second Throbber
- 28:12Speaker 4: in a row Mogi has won with a Nirvana tune.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Oh.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Breed. Breed, that's a tune as well. That's a great tune.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Yeah, nice, nice.
- 28:19Speaker 1: We're getting back into Nirvana, fellas.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Bloody good. They are good.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Fellas, coming up shortly, I've got a news story for you, actually,
- 28:27Speaker 4: that's pretty gripping, pretty insane, something that's hitting the nation.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Also, Jase, you were saying you've got Ambition's.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I was reminded of something the other day and I
- 28:39Speaker 3: was like, that's what I need to do next. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Okay. In the meantime, though, a bit of Oasis.
- 28:49Speaker 3: What's the score, by the way?
- 28:51Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 28:54Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Oh, we're on the Hodaki Big Show this Friday evening.
- 29:01Speaker 3: The time being 5.22. Fellas, I need some advice from
- 29:05Speaker 3: you guys.
- 29:06Speaker 4: You know, you're actors, eh?
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I was in the past, sure.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:12Speaker 4: And so I did an audition earlier in the week
- 29:15Speaker 4: for an ad. and I played this guy in a
- 29:18Speaker 4: bar and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I was pretty
- 29:20Speaker 4: nervous but went along. Wasn't as sort of hugely embarrassed
- 29:26Speaker 4: and ashamed of myself as I had been after every
- 29:28Speaker 4: other audition.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Well, can I say, Keezy, that probably the reason for
- 29:32Speaker 1: that is because you brought it in here and we
- 29:33Speaker 1: workshopped it. Yeah. We workshopped that audition with you. I
- 29:37Speaker 1: don't know if that helped. Totally. And as a result.
- 29:40Speaker 1: of that, you now find yourself with a callback. Well,
- 29:43Speaker 1: that's the thing. Isn't that great? I have a callback.
- 29:45Speaker 1: What's a callback?
- 29:46Speaker 3: That's when you get down to a select group of
- 29:49Speaker 3: people that essentially the director and the company are interested
- 29:53Speaker 3: in using.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 1: And so just.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Genuinely, how many people do you think they would have
- 30:00Speaker 4: auditioned for this part? Like 20?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Probably 1,000.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say between 1,000 and 1,500. Right.
- 30:07Speaker 4: And how many people will get a callback like that?
- 30:11Speaker 1: Three. Really? Yeah, three, four. Out of 1,000? Out of
- 30:15Speaker 1: 1,000 to 1,500.
- 30:17Speaker 3: You must have really, really made an impression.
- 30:20Speaker 1: So this is unbelievable. Really?
- 30:22Speaker 4: Oh, my God. So what do I have to do traditionally?
- 30:25Speaker 4: Have you ever had a callback?
- 30:29Speaker 3: Usually they just hired me on the spot.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Right, so you've never had a callback. Right, okay, so
- 30:34Speaker 4: I've had a callback.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Before DJ has. Look, I've had a few callbacks at
- 30:36Speaker 3: the time, for sure.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Oh, they always had some callbacks.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 1: What can I expect?
- 30:40Speaker 3: Now, listen, I've just got to say this. As your agent,
- 30:44Speaker 3: when they gave me the call to say that you've
- 30:46Speaker 3: got a callback, which I was very excited about.
- 30:49Speaker 1: And surprised you.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I was surprised. They did actually say, re your callback.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Were you to get the part, you're going to have
- 30:57Speaker 3: to lose the mo.
- 30:58Speaker 4: I have to shave the mo off?
- 31:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:03Speaker 4: What, did you say no to that? I don't want
- 31:04Speaker 4: to shave off my mo.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Well, no, I said he'll do anything. He's desperate to
- 31:08Speaker 3: get on the TV.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Well, no, I'm not desperate to get on the TV.
- 31:11Speaker 4: In fact, I'm on TV occasionally. Game of two halves,
- 31:15Speaker 4: if hopefully it doesn't get cancelled.
- 31:16Speaker 3: And I said, yeah, sure, no worries.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Not looking good.
- 31:19Speaker 3: But anyway, you're asking about what I'll have to do.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so essentially it is, more often than not, you'll
- 31:25Speaker 1: have the director there. The director will be in the room.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Yeah, because last time it was just a person with
- 31:30Speaker 4: a camera.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Because you wouldn't have the director in
- 31:33Speaker 1: the room for 1,000 to 1,500 of the wider auditions.
- 31:36Speaker 1: But now it's getting down to the... To the sharp end.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Nitty gritty.
- 31:40Speaker 1: And what I want to do is I want to
- 31:42Speaker 1: know that they can work with you, and I want
- 31:44Speaker 1: to know that you can hear and apply notes and direction. So, okay,
- 31:51Speaker 1: this time try this, and this time try that. No,
- 31:54Speaker 1: that's great.
- 31:54Speaker 3: No.
- 31:55Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 31:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that's humiliating. Get out of here.
- 31:57Speaker 4: I don't know if I'm good at that because I'm
- 31:59Speaker 4: not experienced.
- 32:00Speaker 1: No, not like that. Well, hang on.
- 32:01Speaker 5: No.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Oh, God, no. Thank you. Yeah. So that's what you
- 32:06Speaker 1: can expect. Could you now do one for like if
- 32:08Speaker 1: I'm doing it really well?
- 32:09Speaker 3: Wow.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Good stuff.
- 32:12Speaker 4: I like that one.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really good.
- 32:15Speaker 3: That feels good. Just need to lose the mo and
- 32:17Speaker 3: you've got the part.
- 32:18Speaker 1: The only trouble as well is, of course, that it
- 32:22Speaker 1: is down to three people. So you've got to worry
- 32:24Speaker 1: about the other two.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Really? Because in my mind, I was like, I'm not
- 32:26Speaker 4: worried about them. I'm just going to do what I
- 32:28Speaker 4: can do.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Well, that's all you can do. Yes. But, you know,
- 32:31Speaker 1: Hoide J was telling me, because the thing is, you've
- 32:33Speaker 1: got to have your ear to your ground. So as
- 32:34Speaker 1: soon as you get down to final three, callbacks, all
- 32:36Speaker 1: these sorts of things, you start thinking to yourself, as
- 32:38Speaker 1: an agent, how can I put my actor in a
- 32:41Speaker 1: pole position? Yeah. So we found out that the other
- 32:45Speaker 1: two people that are going for this particular role are
- 32:49Speaker 1: Adam Blair and Sean Johnson. Now, of course, you've got
- 32:52Speaker 1: a little bit of history there, don't you?
- 32:54Speaker 4: Well, yeah, because Adam Blair replaced me on a TV
- 32:56Speaker 4: show I used to be on.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:58Speaker 3: He's got a lot of charisma, I've got to say.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Similar things sort of happened with Sean Johnson. Sean Johnson, yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: you prepped a whole show and then he got you
- 33:05Speaker 1: kicked off and then he's done it. Yeah. But the
- 33:07Speaker 1: last thing you can do is let that sort of
- 33:09Speaker 1: stuff play into your mind.
- 33:10Speaker 3: No, don't even think about it.
- 33:11Speaker 4: I think Adam Blair's got a moustache at the moment.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Does he have to shave?
- 33:14Speaker 3: No, they like it.
- 33:15Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 33:18Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. One simple question.
- 33:24Speaker 2: One weekend of a lifetime.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Would you rather?
- 33:29Speaker 3: Yes, indeed. Would you rather? It's on. The NRL Grand
- 33:33Speaker 3: Final or Bathurst?
- 33:35Speaker 4: Obviously, we're on Team Grand Final, eh, fellas?
- 33:38Speaker 3: Oh, no, I'm Bathurst all the way, man.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's Bathurst. To be honest, you've talked me around.
- 33:50Speaker 5: I think I've changed my... My choice as well.
- 33:53Speaker 1: A few beers? Yeah, a few beers. You can have
- 33:55Speaker 1: a few beers at either, though, responsibly, of course.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Yes, of course.
- 33:58Speaker 1: NRL grand final or Bathurst. Let's go to the lines there, fellas.
- 34:01Speaker 3: G'day, Mark, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 34:04Speaker 1: Good, thanks, guys. How are you?
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah, good, thanks, mates. Hey, tell me, Mark, you're looking
- 34:08Speaker 3: forward to your Friday, are you?
- 34:10Speaker 1: I am, yeah. Just had a beer, actually. Oh, good
- 34:13Speaker 1: on you, man.
- 34:13Speaker 3: What do you do for a crust, Mark?
- 34:16Speaker 1: I work at a school.
- 34:17Speaker 2: I'm a caretaker.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Oh, backbone. Have we spoken to you before? Oh, yeah,
- 34:22Speaker 1: last year or the year before.
- 34:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'm fascinated by a caretaker. I love a caretaker. We
- 34:27Speaker 1: had a great caretaker at my school growing up, Mr. Griffin.
- 34:32Speaker 1: He also lived on the same street as us, and
- 34:34Speaker 1: he'd get around with a cheese cutter on. He was
- 34:35Speaker 1: an older fella, but jack of all trades. That's what
- 34:38Speaker 1: I liked about it. Bloody oats. Wander around. You're on
- 34:41Speaker 1: your own time. You answer to no bastard. And he
- 34:44Speaker 1: had an incinerator, and I love an incinerator. Just burning shit.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Burning it. You still got an incinerator, man? No, all
- 34:50Speaker 1: run by gas bottles now. Oh, yeah, it's a shame.
- 34:53Speaker 1: The world's gone. It's PC gone, man. PC gone, man.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Tell me, Mark, what would be your preference, mate, the
- 35:00Speaker 3: NRL or Bathurst?
- 35:02Speaker 1: The grand final, NRL. Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 35:05Speaker 4: All right, Mark, you're in the draw, mate.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You hold the line, okay? Thank you.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Good on you, man. G'day, Chris, you mad bastard. How's life? G'day,
- 35:13Speaker 3: Horty Jizz, you mad dog, you sick son of a bee. Yeah,
- 35:20Speaker 3: I'm good, thanks, mate. What are your plans for your
- 35:23Speaker 3: Friday night there, Chris?
- 35:25Speaker 1: Not a lot there, Jizzy.
- 35:26Speaker 3: I'll just get home and just, you know, blow.
- 35:30Speaker 2: The froth clean off the top.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Of one, I reckon. Yeah, nice.
- 35:34Speaker 3: What do you do for a crust, Chris?
- 35:36Speaker 4: I hang off the back end of a Hydrovac hose
- 35:39Speaker 4: on the old sucker truck there.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Good on you, Chris. Hey, NRL Grand Final or Bathurst, mate?
- 35:47Speaker 3: Hey, fellas, after all that build-up, I'm going to have
- 35:50Speaker 3: to go Bathurst. I'm fizzed for it. I'm fizzed. Oh,
- 35:54Speaker 3: that's awesome.
- 35:55Speaker 1: First Bathurst.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I had a feeling that old Chris was going to
- 35:57Speaker 3: go Bathurst. Sure you did.
- 35:58Speaker 1: No, you didn't.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Just had a vibe, a little tingle in my testicles.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Hey, Chris, you're in the draw, brother. You hold the line,
- 36:04Speaker 4: and old Pugson will have a go at.
- 36:05Speaker 3: You, all right? Yeah, cheers, fellas. Enjoy the weekend. Up
- 36:08Speaker 3: the wah.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Up the wah.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Up the wahs, Chris.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Get on your mates.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Get on your mates.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Seemed like a nice fella, of course. A few nights
- 36:15Speaker 4: over in Aussie, regardless whether you go to Bathurst or
- 36:18Speaker 4: the Grand Final, thanks to boystrip.co.nz. If you'd like to
- 36:22Speaker 4: go to either of those two events, why not go
- 36:24Speaker 4: to their websites?
- 36:24Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff, mates. Here's the clue.
- 36:28Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Kings of Leon this Friday evening. Fellas, big weekend ahead.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Let's have a bit of sport chat.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Ooh.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Which sport should we start with, fellas?
- 36:50Speaker 3: Yes, no, you go, Moby.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I was just going to say a little bit of
- 36:53Speaker 1: the All Blacks.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so, the ABs.
- 36:54Speaker 1: The ABs, they're going to be playing 3 a.m. Sunday
- 36:59Speaker 1: in Cape Town. Pretty exciting stuff after that first test
- 37:03Speaker 1: win by the All Blacks at Alice Park where we
- 37:06Speaker 1: put a clinic on, really, didn't we?
- 37:07Speaker 3: Five to one try time.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Sort of the last 20 minutes there. Leroy Carter has
- 37:11Speaker 1: been selected on the wing.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Yes, nice.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I'm expecting a hellstorm. I really am. I've got a
- 37:18Speaker 1: bad feeling. I think the Springbrook reaction is going to
- 37:22Speaker 1: be swift.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And violent. So I can't wait. I'm actually looking forward
- 37:26Speaker 1: to this game more than I was the first test.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 4: If they can capture that opening five minutes of physicality,
- 37:31Speaker 4: the spring box, if they manage to do that for,
- 37:33Speaker 4: you know, half a game at least, it's going to
- 37:36Speaker 4: be brutal.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I agree. And I think that we could be in
- 37:39Speaker 3: for some real punishment here. But I also think it
- 37:43Speaker 3: may play in our favour a little bit. They'll come
- 37:46Speaker 3: out fired up. They'll fire all their shots. The fellas
- 37:49Speaker 3: need to absorb it and then spread it.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it's good, isn't it? It's a different team, thankfully.
- 37:57Speaker 1: They feel like they've got some direction. And keeping in mind,
- 37:59Speaker 1: this is the first year with Dave Rennie at the helm.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 38:03Speaker 1: And already we've seen more significant growth than we'd seen
- 38:06Speaker 1: in the previous two years. And the whole idea is
- 38:09Speaker 1: absolutely we want to win the Springbok Tour, but you
- 38:12Speaker 1: just want them getting better and better and better on
- 38:14Speaker 1: a continual curve upwards. To the World Cup next year. Yeah, beautiful.
- 38:19Speaker 4: We should also chat, Waz, they are playing Sunday afternoon,
- 38:21Speaker 4: 4pm against the Newcastle Knights, just as we're at Hoity
- 38:23Speaker 4: J's having a come-dine with me. That's going to be,
- 38:26Speaker 4: to be honest, the Waz should put them to the sword.
- 38:27Speaker 4: 13 plus is what I expect from the Waz at
- 38:30Speaker 4: this point in the season going into the finals based
- 38:33Speaker 4: on their current form.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Yep, I completely agree. And we've got Tain Tauapiki is
- 38:37Speaker 1: in there at fullback. A debut for Luke Laulili. And
- 38:43Speaker 1: he's only 20 years old. He comes from West Tigers.
- 38:46Speaker 1: He's a short, stout, hard little nuggety sort of a player.
- 38:50Speaker 1: He's a winger, eh? He is a winger and a
- 38:52Speaker 1: hell of a finisher by all accounts. Outside of that,
- 38:56Speaker 1: everything is pretty much as normal. But Tamari Martin returns
- 39:00Speaker 1: in the No. 7 jersey today. with Chanel Harris-DeVita going
- 39:04Speaker 1: to the six. I like Tain being at fullback because
- 39:06Speaker 1: of his goal-kicking. For me now, that's a lock. At
- 39:09Speaker 1: the moment, Old Chan's nickel-clock start is out because of suspension.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I think if you're going to bring him back for anything,
- 39:16Speaker 1: you're bringing him back into the centres or into the wing,
- 39:18Speaker 1: but the fact that Tain is a goal-kicker... A great kicker. Well,
- 39:23Speaker 1: he had a great night. I'm hoping that's consistent. Yeah.
- 39:26Speaker 1: For that reason, he's got to stay.
- 39:28Speaker 3: And another great thing, fellas... when we're watching it, you'll
- 39:31Speaker 3: be stuffing Christmas ham in your gob.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't wait, Jase.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:34Speaker 1: For you to have a WASP-themed party, great idea. Thanks, man.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Exciting stuff. Ran for the shield, man.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Yeah, tiny far.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Ran for the shield. Well, last week, Northland defeated Canterbury.
- 39:44Speaker 1: to get the Ramfelley Shield for the first time in
- 39:47Speaker 1: roughly 40 or 50 years. Something insane. And it's so
- 39:50Speaker 1: great when it goes to those smaller unions. Absolutely love it.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I love the Ramfelley Shield. I love the MPC. Just
- 39:58Speaker 1: good meat and potatoes rugby union. Their first offence is
- 40:02Speaker 1: this week, Sunday the 30th of August. It's 5.05 kick-off
- 40:06Speaker 1: at Whangarei and they are playing Tasman. who are not
- 40:10Speaker 1: to be sneezed at.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Yeah, they're going to get hiding.
- 40:13Speaker 1: It's been a good few days, Northland.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Yeah, well, they would have had a really good party,
- 40:16Speaker 3: I'm guaranteeing it.
- 40:17Speaker 4: It's like when the Bay of Plenty Steamers, my team,
- 40:19Speaker 4: won it. It was a good few days there, and
- 40:21Speaker 4: we loved it, and we've banged on about it ever since,
- 40:23Speaker 4: but the reality is.
- 40:24Speaker 1: And that will be a hell of a game, because
- 40:26Speaker 1: that ground there in Whangarei is going to be absolutely
- 40:29Speaker 1: rammed to the gunnels. Bloody hell.
- 40:34Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:38Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Friday's absolutely going off.
- 40:45Speaker 3: You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you
- 40:47Speaker 3: by Reburgers.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change
- 40:51Speaker 4: the game.
- 40:52Speaker 3: The name's burger. Dish, dish, dish. Reburgers. Reburgers.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Good stuff, fellas.
- 40:59Speaker 4: I also need to remind you that this weekend, to
- 41:01Speaker 4: celebrate the fact that they have opened four new stores,
- 41:05Speaker 4: re-burger stores, you've got Avondale, Botany Junction, Key Street, and
- 41:08Speaker 4: there's one in the Auckland CBD as well. Each one
- 41:11Speaker 4: of those stores is giving away 100 burgers for free
- 41:13Speaker 4: this Sunday.
- 41:14Speaker 1: How bloody good.
- 41:14Speaker 4: If you live in Auckland, go to one of those
- 41:16Speaker 4: stores and get a free, delicious, massive burger.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Because they are delicious. Now, fellas, I'm concerned. I know
- 41:23Speaker 3: you're both going to a show tonight, the same show.
- 41:27Speaker 3: What are you going to do? What are you going
- 41:29Speaker 3: to eat before you get there? I'm just a bit
- 41:31Speaker 3: worried you're going to get halfway through the show and
- 41:33Speaker 3: be like, oh, jeez, I'm starving.
- 41:36Speaker 1: My wife's got a little dumpling soup ready to go
- 41:39Speaker 1: when I get home.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 41:40Speaker 1: She's going to be cutting it fine, mate. Yeah, she'll
- 41:43Speaker 1: be right, man. Don't wait for me, man. You reckon? Well,
- 41:46Speaker 1: they will or they won't. I make a hurrah of
- 41:49Speaker 1: a noise when I come in, man. Because you're probably
- 41:50Speaker 1: sitting up the front as well, right? I will be.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Someone's moving.
- 41:55Speaker 4: I'm going to go to, there's a Malaysian joint across
- 41:57Speaker 4: the road sort of from the Civic.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Which is where the show is, a really nice one.
- 42:02Speaker 4: And so I said to my wife.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Should we go there?
- 42:03Speaker 4: She's like, yeah.
- 42:04Speaker 1: And what did you say?
- 42:06Speaker 4: I said, okay, great.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Either that or Hoity J's hot pot, I said. She said, nah.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Nah. Yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 1: She does want to try it, though. Yeah.
- 42:14Speaker 3: She hates my food.
- 42:16Speaker 1: It's not all she hates.
- 42:19Speaker 3: That's good stuff, fellas.
- 42:20Speaker 1: What are you having, James?
- 42:24Speaker 4: Because I'm worried about you, man.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I'm worried about you.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Well, as I said, my mother-in-law is coming to stay tonight,
- 42:29Speaker 3: so we haven't really figured it out. We might go
- 42:32Speaker 3: to Elliott Street where there's a plethora of choices, but
- 42:37Speaker 3: often that's just even more confusing.
- 42:39Speaker 5: Yeah, it is.
- 42:40Speaker 3: You know what I mean? It is. But we'll figure
- 42:42Speaker 3: it out. It'll be fine.
- 42:43Speaker 1: You'll be okay, man.
- 42:44Speaker 3: It'll be fine, man.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Don't worry about it. That's the thing.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Up next, Mogi's celebrity dilemma.
- 42:49Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 42:55Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Pearl Jam there on the Hauraki Big Show this Friday night.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Fellas, every now and again I find myself in the
- 43:06Speaker 1: presence of some pretty interesting people, some well-known people. And yesterday,
- 43:12Speaker 1: I had that. I was hanging out with a pretty
- 43:15Speaker 1: well-known New Zealand celebrity. Right. For a little work thing there.
- 43:19Speaker 1: This person, we were driving in a car. They were driving,
- 43:23Speaker 1: and we were going to a destination. I can't say
- 43:24Speaker 1: who it was.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 43:25Speaker 2: A-list?
- 43:26Speaker 4: A-list?
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say A-list.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Wow.
- 43:28Speaker 1: A-list, yep. Now, what was interesting was that this celebrity,
- 43:34Speaker 1: this was yesterday there, we're chitting and we're chatting, and the...
- 43:40Speaker 1: This person is on the motorway, as am I, as
- 43:43Speaker 1: is the car. Because you're in the car. Absolutely. And
- 43:46Speaker 1: just driving in the fast lane going 80 k's.
- 43:50Speaker 3: No.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Oh, God, I hate that. And I'm sitting there now
- 43:54Speaker 1: involved in the conversation, but also 90% of my brain
- 43:57Speaker 1: is thinking, are you not seeing all of these cars
- 44:01Speaker 1: and trucks overtake you on the left-hand side and then
- 44:05Speaker 1: immediately cut in front of you.
- 44:07Speaker 4: You're like, listen, Taika, you've got to pull over to
- 44:09Speaker 4: the other lane, man.
- 44:10Speaker 1: I was kind of like, oh, come on, Jason Momoa.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Move over, man.
- 44:15Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 44:16Speaker 1: You're not in Hawaii now.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:18Speaker 1: That would have been funny.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Totally.
- 44:19Speaker 1: It really wasn't Jason.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Huh?
- 44:22Speaker 1: I couldn't say. But the problem is that I didn't
- 44:25Speaker 1: really know the person very well. Right. So I didn't
- 44:28Speaker 1: really know how to handle it. How to approach it. Yeah.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Normally you're just like, hey, asshole. move over because you're
- 44:39Speaker 1: having an absolute shock. That's how you'd usually say it.
- 44:42Speaker 1: That's how, you know, if it was, you know, my
- 44:43Speaker 1: mum or, you know, you, KZ. Pugs aren't. And I
- 44:48Speaker 1: just wanted to know how you guys might have handled
- 44:50Speaker 1: a situation like that. Very tricky, very tricky because you're
- 44:53Speaker 1: trying to, you've got essentially a new, just met the person,
- 44:58Speaker 1: trying to grow the relationship. Are they aware of it?
- 45:00Speaker 1: But the same thing happened on the way there and
- 45:03Speaker 1: also on the way back.
- 45:05Speaker 4: If it was me, I would have been like, listen,
- 45:06Speaker 4: Dame Kitty, I know we've just met, but I need
- 45:10Speaker 4: to tell you, you're in the fast lane right now
- 45:12Speaker 4: and there's so many cars behind you, I'm feeling a
- 45:14Speaker 4: bit agitated.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what I mean? Would you have said that?
- 45:17Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 45:17Speaker 1: So you would have been clear communication styles?
- 45:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but I don't want to be known as the
- 45:21Speaker 4: clear communication guy, you know?
- 45:23Speaker 3: Sure.
- 45:23Speaker 1: But that might have been what I would have done
- 45:24Speaker 1: if Dame Kitty was driving me. You wouldn't have just
- 45:26Speaker 1: ignored it and let it go because, you know, Win some,
- 45:28Speaker 1: you lose some. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
- 45:31Speaker 3: I would probably try and make a joke of it.
- 45:34Speaker 3: You know what I mean? I'd make it. I'd be like,
- 45:36Speaker 3: Carl Urban, it's funny, isn't it? Because, you know, you
- 45:40Speaker 3: do a lot of action movies.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 3: But you're pretty sedate on the old roads here.
- 45:44Speaker 1: You'd make a joke.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Oh, that's good.
- 45:45Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Is sedate right? Oh, you know. You're driving like an asshole.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Well, I mean.
- 45:51Speaker 1: How's my American accent? Asshole.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty good. Is it? Yeah, it's not bad.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Actually, Moggy, I take it back because you're right. I'm
- 46:01Speaker 1: sitting in the car.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Jason Hoyt's driving, and it's, you know, who am I
- 46:05Speaker 4: to tell Jason Hoyt that he's driving like a plumber?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:08Speaker 4: He's A-list, and I should just.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Well, it's not his fault he can't see over the
- 46:11Speaker 1: steering wheel.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Yeah, he's in a little booster seat there. He's doing
- 46:14Speaker 4: his best to even reach the accelerator.
- 46:16Speaker 5: Yes.
- 46:18Speaker 4: To be honest, I'd probably suggest that I drive.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. In the first place.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Well, yeah, Hoytie J would
- 46:24Speaker 1: normally be in the back seat. Yeah, exactly.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Well, that's where.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Facing backwards in the little bassinet thing.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Blink 182 there on the Hodaki Big Show this glorious
- 46:39Speaker 3: Friday night. Hope you're having a good one.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Fellas, do you like flowers?
- 46:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Who doesn't? What's your favourite flower? Daffodil. Oh, that's good.
- 46:48Speaker 3: I would have to say, what are those beautiful smelling ones?
- 46:51Speaker 3: They're just friezes. Friezes? Yes, they are the most pungent,
- 46:55Speaker 3: beautiful smelling flower.
- 46:56Speaker 1: What's your view on agapanthus?
- 46:58Speaker 3: I quite like an alyssum too. Alyssum's really nice. It's
- 47:01Speaker 3: a very delicate white flower. Beautiful perfume. Yeah, right.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Agapantha?
- 47:06Speaker 3: No.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Azalea.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Rose?
- 47:12Speaker 3: I do like an orchid, but they don't really have
- 47:15Speaker 3: a smell.
- 47:16Speaker 1: No, they don't, but they're a beer.
- 47:19Speaker 3: I tell you what, Mogi, in all seriousness, really hard
- 47:22Speaker 3: to keep alive an orchid. They're really tricky.
- 47:25Speaker 1: It's a fine art.
- 47:26Speaker 3: It's a tricky plant.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they need their own temperature and sort of their
- 47:32Speaker 1: own atmosphere to operate on. My grandmother used to grow them,
- 47:36Speaker 1: and you have to have a particular type of shed.
- 47:38Speaker 1: that is set at a particular temperature, Keezy.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Wow.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Not easy. You have to be a real enthusiast, a
- 47:44Speaker 1: real green thumb, if I could call it that.
- 47:46Speaker 3: And the thing is that they don't sit in soil, Keezy.
- 47:50Speaker 3: It's a barky kind of very thick kind of thing.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Absolutely right. Because they actually grow on trees in the wild. What, lilies? No, orchids.
- 47:58Speaker 3: But anyway, what was your point?
- 48:01Speaker 4: Well, today's daffodil day.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I don't see how the two are related. Oh, it's
- 48:05Speaker 1: the type of.
- 48:06Speaker 4: One in three Kiwis, fellas, affected by cancer in their lifetime.
- 48:10Speaker 4: So today... One in three people? One in three Kiwis, yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Wow.
- 48:13Speaker 1: That's a lot, isn't it? It is a lot. So today...
- 48:15Speaker 1: Because that means.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 48:18Speaker 1: What? Well, there's three of us here.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Could be, man.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Could be. Yeah, God. Who is it? You, Keezy, strike
- 48:25Speaker 1: me as a testicular sort of a fella.
- 48:27Speaker 4: You guys strike me as a lung cancer kind of.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd go with that. Jason's got a bit of mouth...
- 48:34Speaker 1: Bit of mouth cancer about him. Because you had foot
- 48:37Speaker 1: and mouth for a while, didn't you?
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I did, yeah.
- 48:39Speaker 4: Hey, text DONATE to 305 right now to make an
- 48:42Speaker 4: instant $ 3 donation to the Cancer Society. Our station and
- 48:46Speaker 4: all the radio stations here at NZME are all banding
- 48:48Speaker 4: together to raise funds today. Your donation helps fund vital
- 48:51Speaker 4: care and support services for people with cancer.
- 48:54Speaker 3: That number again, please, Keezy.
- 48:55Speaker 1: DONATE. Yes.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Text DONATE to 305.
- 48:59Speaker 1: 3-0-5.
- 49:00Speaker 4: Good stuff, mate.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Good stuff. What's the really.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Big flower, like circle, big circle flower with lots of
- 49:06Speaker 4: little petals on them, like blue and pink?
- 49:09Speaker 3: Dahlia? No, no, no.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Oh, you've imagined it.
- 49:11Speaker 4: Really common one. It's very common in New Zealand.
- 49:14Speaker 3: I think you were hallucinating.
- 49:16Speaker 1: No, it's literally, I've got two of them. So you're
- 49:18Speaker 1: talking about a flower that's got what petal? on it?
- 49:20Speaker 4: A flower that's big circle-shaped flower head and it has
- 49:24Speaker 4: lots of little petals.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Sunflower.
- 49:26Speaker 4: No, not a sunflower. It's a globe shape, not a circle.
- 49:31Speaker 4: It's a sphere, spherical-shaped flower.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Chrysanthemum.
- 49:34Speaker 1: No, hydrangea?
- 49:35Speaker 2: No.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Well, what about it? Yeah, I like them.
- 49:44Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Guns and roses on the Hodaki Big Show this Friday evening. Fellas,
- 49:56Speaker 3: before we head into the weekend, should we give out
- 49:58Speaker 3: some advice?
- 50:04Speaker 5: At gmail.com get in touch with the fellas do get.
- 50:10Speaker 4: In touch with the fellas we'll read it out on
- 50:12Speaker 4: the show and you can get yourself a $ 50 re-burger
- 50:15Speaker 4: voucher this one comes from anonymous fellas yes g'day there
- 50:18Speaker 4: I need some advice after a long day at work
- 50:21Speaker 4: I get home and all I want to do is
- 50:22Speaker 4: sit in the lounge with the fellas play some FIFA
- 50:26Speaker 4: and watch the crowd goes wild two very specific things
- 50:29Speaker 4: there so FIFA is online football with your mates yes
- 50:32Speaker 4: On your PlayStation or whatever. But it seems I never
- 50:34Speaker 4: get to do this because as soon as I'm finished dinner,
- 50:37Speaker 4: the miso is commanding me into the boudoir to watch
- 50:40Speaker 4: some TV series I don't really like and then into
- 50:42Speaker 4: an early night. How do I ensure I get my
- 50:45Speaker 4: necessary lounge time each night with the feelers whilst also
- 50:48Speaker 4: not starting a domestic with the miso?
- 50:50Speaker 1: Cheers. Yeah. Anonymous. Break up with her.
- 50:52Speaker 3: The eternal issue, isn't it? You know what I mean?
- 50:55Speaker 4: I think communication's key.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Communication keysie. Well, this is a thing.
- 51:01Speaker 3: This is very much prevalent in your house, Keezy, because
- 51:03Speaker 3: you're a gamer.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Very much so, yeah. Very, very much so.
- 51:07Speaker 3: And your wife, you know, she only likes a certain
- 51:10Speaker 3: type of programme.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I can imagine if, for example, the partner wants
- 51:15Speaker 4: to watch something of mine, like what Pugs loves, and
- 51:18Speaker 4: his partner will like Love Island.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:20Speaker 4: If my wife was like, come into bed so we
- 51:22Speaker 4: can watch Love Island, I would be like, no, I'm
- 51:23Speaker 4: all G.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Yes.
- 51:24Speaker 4: But it's about communicating to her and saying, hey, this
- 51:27Speaker 4: helps me unwind after a stressful day catching up with
- 51:29Speaker 4: my mates.
- 51:29Speaker 1: No, that never works.
- 51:31Speaker 4: It works in my household.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Oftentimes you find with open communication... It can lead to
- 51:37Speaker 1: arguments and things, Jase.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Oh, really? You don't want to be honest.
- 51:40Speaker 1: No, no, not at all. I've always found that deceit,
- 51:44Speaker 1: deceit is the way to go. Right. So if they've
- 51:46Speaker 1: got a program they really want to watch, in this case,
- 51:48Speaker 1: come to bed and watch this, you say, oh, yeah, great.
- 51:51Speaker 1: You know, you lie. And then you go to jump
- 51:54Speaker 1: into bed and you go, oh, I'm just going to
- 51:56Speaker 1: go and get a glass of water. Wow. Then you
- 51:58Speaker 1: go out and then you play video games. Until like
- 52:01Speaker 1: three in the morning. Yeah, three in the morning. And
- 52:03Speaker 1: then they're none the wiser.
- 52:05Speaker 4: See, that's genius, because what I would have done is said, hey,
- 52:08Speaker 4: I'll come and watch it, but afterwards I want to
- 52:09Speaker 4: go online with my mates.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're going to miss Crowe Goes Wild. Yeah,
- 52:14Speaker 1: but that's on demand. You can watch that whenever.
- 52:16Speaker 3: What I used to do back in the day is
- 52:18Speaker 3: say my wife would want to watch something in bed
- 52:20Speaker 3: and I'd go, yeah, okay, great idea, babe. That's great.
- 52:22Speaker 3: And I'd jump in the bed and go, oh, just
- 52:24Speaker 3: like Mogi, I'm just going to go and get a
- 52:25Speaker 3: glass of water and then bugger off down the pub.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Down pub. Yeah. Go off down pub.
- 52:29Speaker 4: Right, and she never realised.
- 52:31Speaker 3: No. I'd smash a few doors because she only ever gets,
- 52:34Speaker 3: you know, 20 minutes into the show and falls asleep anyway.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
- 52:37Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 52:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Okay.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:40Speaker 4: The other thing, too, to keep in mind is Anonymous,
- 52:43Speaker 4: when you game, if you're gaming a lot, this is
- 52:45Speaker 4: actually a common thing with gaming. People are like, I
- 52:46Speaker 4: just want to play my thing. But a lot of
- 52:48Speaker 4: people do it when they should be doing other stuff.
- 52:50Speaker 4: Like you should be helping with kids or helping clean
- 52:53Speaker 4: up or blah, blah, blah. Do all that shit first
- 52:56Speaker 4: and then go game.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Well, it sounds like he's in a flat-in environment. Doesn't it?
- 53:02Speaker 1: Although having said that, it was playing with the boys,
- 53:04Speaker 1: which these days means it can be online. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 1: I don't know. It's tricky, isn't it? Yeah, whatever you do,
- 53:12Speaker 1: don't speak up for yourself. Yeah, okay.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Or you can just not go home. Oh, yeah. You know,
- 53:17Speaker 3: just book an Airbnb or something like that.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 53:20Speaker 4: And do you say you're going for water?
- 53:22Speaker 1: No, no, no. You just don't come home.
- 53:24Speaker 3: You just don't come home.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Right, and then you come home at some stage. Well,
- 53:28Speaker 1: maybe when she's at work.
- 53:29Speaker 3: You might grow to like being away from home. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:32Speaker 1: So when she's at work, you come home, you pack
- 53:34Speaker 1: your stuff.
- 53:34Speaker 3: And you're off. Have a shower.
- 53:36Speaker 4: So your advice is to run away from home.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Oh, not run away. Slow, slow job.
- 53:42Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the end
- 53:55Speaker 3: of the show this Thursday evening. The end of the
- 53:58Speaker 3: goat countdown as well. I tell you what, I'm pretty
- 54:02Speaker 3: knackered now, actually. That was epic.
- 54:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Jase, you did really well during the countdown.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks, man.
- 54:06Speaker 4: And that final montage you put together was excellent as well.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it was great.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Really good.
- 54:10Speaker 3: I really enjoyed it.
- 54:11Speaker 4: I really enjoyed the podcast outro, a.k.a.
- 54:14Speaker 1: The disclaimer. Yeah.
- 54:15Speaker 4: The new name of our podcast. Here's a clip from
- 54:18Speaker 4: today where we discussed my T-shirt.
- 54:21Speaker 1: By the way.
- 54:22Speaker 4: By the sounds of it. Come on, Jase, talk about
- 54:25Speaker 4: my T-shirt.
- 54:26Speaker 3: It's very cool, man. What is it, like a douche
- 54:27Speaker 3: douche one? A gaming kind of?
- 54:29Speaker 4: Just the drag racing one I've won.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, drag racing.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Once a week for the last five.
- 54:34Speaker 5: This is the thing I was talking about.
- 54:44Speaker 4: Oh, Keezy's tired.
- 54:47Speaker 1: We're so old to be doing that shit, aren't we?
- 54:50Speaker 3: Yeah, we really are.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Hey, here's an idea. Don't do it.
- 54:55Speaker 4: It's the most juvenile shit, and it's because I was
- 54:57Speaker 4: slightly sleepy.
- 54:58Speaker 1: It was good stuff.
- 54:59Speaker 3: No, you were exhausted.
- 55:01Speaker 1: I was.
- 55:01Speaker 3: You were very hooded in the eyes. I was. Mogi,
- 55:05Speaker 3: your plan tonight, please.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Got a couple of families staying with us. They're up
- 55:09Speaker 1: from Wellington, so a bit of a full house tonight.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Looking forward to seeing those backbones in there. Bit of work.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Not work tonight, but that's what I'll be doing. Bit
- 55:17Speaker 1: of chit-chat. Yeah, good stuff, mate. Bit of chit-chat.
- 55:19Speaker 3: Keezy, probably straight to bed for you. You've had so
- 55:21Speaker 3: much to eat today. You've been in a bit of
- 55:23Speaker 3: a food coma.
- 55:24Speaker 4: I have been in a food coma. I told my
- 55:26Speaker 4: wife I don't need dinner tonight.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Do you regret that now?
- 55:30Speaker 4: No, because I've still got two chicken tenders from Reburger
- 55:33Speaker 4: in my car. So I'm going to eat those on
- 55:37Speaker 4: the way home, and then that'll be old Keezy done
- 55:39Speaker 4: and dusted.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Old Keezy. with a couple of fists full of chicken.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Fried chicken. Always sucking them on.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be sucking them.
- 55:47Speaker 1: That's how he tenders. That's it.
- 55:49Speaker 4: And then we'll watch Outrageous Fortune and then I'll probably
- 55:51Speaker 4: go to bed early.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Jase, what are you doing? I'm going to get up
- 55:53Speaker 1: around midnight.
- 55:54Speaker 3: What am I doing?
- 55:55Speaker 1: Steamer.
- 55:56Speaker 3: What am I doing?
- 55:57Speaker 1: I'll see you later, man. I've got to go. Honestly,
- 56:00Speaker 1: time's a ticking, man.
- 56:01Speaker 3: I'm thinking.
- 56:02Speaker 1: No, you're not. No, you're not.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Well, I'll probably... Actually, I'll tell you what I might do.
- 56:06Speaker 1: This is actually ruining the goat. This has ruined the
- 56:08Speaker 1: goat countdown. This has ruined the whole year for me.
- 56:10Speaker 3: Oh, no, I can't.
- 56:11Speaker 4: Because the thing with the goat is we have all
- 56:12Speaker 4: these new listeners, and they stick around.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. And then they realise they've made a mistake.
- 56:17Speaker 4: Yeah, this could be good, and it's just Jase going.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Oh, don't get upset.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Jase.
- 56:25Speaker 4: I was just joking around.
- 56:26Speaker 3: No, I'm going to go home, eat some food. Fellas,
- 56:27Speaker 3: watch a bit of TV and go to bed, all right?
- 56:29Speaker 2: Love you all.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Goodbye.
- 56:31Speaker 1: See you tomorrow.
- 56:32Speaker 4: Bye.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Thank you.
