- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us on this Monday nights. We get
- 0:02Speaker 1: hot and heavy with games starting Friday. Ice Bus back
- 0:05Speaker 1: in action. BC. You're going Saturday to the People's Bank
- 0:10Speaker 1: Arena to watch the guys bust play BC.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we don't play it all Sunday, right right,
- 0:15Speaker 2: Senior Day. What time's the game Saturday, three o'clock. Oh yeah,
- 0:19Speaker 2: we'll be done practice by then. Okay.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, big hockey fan over here, speaking of Sunday,
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's Senior Day already.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I even said something to Kavanaugh. I said, hey, great
- 0:29Speaker 2: weekend up in Arno. I was ugly, but we'll take it.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So I'm like, sounds like you, I know, I said,
- 0:34Speaker 2: what a miserable guy, And then he said it sounds
- 0:38Speaker 2: like you, I know exactly. I mean, you go to
- 0:41Speaker 2: like the toughest place in the league to win, and
- 0:43Speaker 2: they get a win a tie, and then they get
- 0:45Speaker 2: the extra point right right for the shootout. Yeah, and
- 0:48Speaker 2: he's still not happy they gave him.
- 0:49Speaker 1: They gave him fifty three shots on Saturday. That's a
- 0:53Speaker 1: lot of shots. Yeah, but time Muslic was was That's
- 0:56Speaker 1: why it's the Hockey School tender of the week.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he should enjoy his life more. He should
- 1:02Speaker 2: enjoy his team more. What's wrong with him?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Yeah? Who's talking over here? Kids hertably, But here we are.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You know, comes every year Senior Day Sunday. I know,
- 1:14Speaker 1: season's almost over. Two weeks from today, the regular season's over.
- 1:19Speaker 1: That's crazy to think. Yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I just said that to the team today. I said,
- 1:23Speaker 2: it feels like yesterday that we were down at the
- 1:27Speaker 2: Naval Academy playing Louisville and the season opener. Now, I
- 1:32Speaker 2: was saying it to remind them that Louisville had dropped
- 1:37Speaker 2: out of the top twenty five, and now Louisville's in
- 1:40Speaker 2: the top ten. I said, so they are not the
- 1:43Speaker 2: same team that we played at the Naval Academy. Oh
- 1:48Speaker 2: you well, I said, that's the whole point. At this
- 1:52Speaker 2: point in the season, you cannot be the same team
- 1:55Speaker 2: that you were back in November.
- 1:59Speaker 1: In fact, a year ago tonight it was a Sunday
- 2:03Speaker 1: albeit your season changed. You beat South Carolina down there
- 2:08Speaker 1: and everything a year.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Ago tonight, Yeah, the sixteenth.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, think about that. That game entirely changed your season.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It seemed, of course, there was a little build up
- 2:21Speaker 1: Providence first in Saint John's, but then nobody saw that coming.
- 2:26Speaker 1: But here's the funny part, because I didn't see this
- 2:29Speaker 1: till afterwards. You were on game day that day because
- 2:31Speaker 1: it was a live show, Yeah, and you mentioned to
- 2:35Speaker 1: the crew that you really liked your team when it
- 2:37Speaker 1: came to march your team's chances. Yeah, and then what
- 2:43Speaker 1: followed in those two hours afterwards was eye opening, you know,
- 2:47Speaker 1: jaw dropping. It's like, nobody makes thirteen threes against South Carolina,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but you did. Yeah, rebounded a big time. I mean,
- 2:55Speaker 1: there was just some screwy numbers that you would see
- 2:57Speaker 1: in other games, but South Carolina down there, No, that
- 3:00Speaker 1: doesn't happen. But you did the whole season. Everything pointed
- 3:04Speaker 1: in the right direction for the next month and a half.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes it just it just catches you a little
- 3:12Speaker 2: bit by surprise. But for whatever reason, last year's team,
- 3:21Speaker 2: because they had never won at the level that they
- 3:26Speaker 2: wanted to win at, we get to the final four.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It's like Page has been to the final four every
- 3:31Speaker 2: year she played at Yuka. The year she didn't play,
- 3:33Speaker 2: we didn't go to the final four. So every year
- 3:35Speaker 2: she played, we were in the final four. And every
- 3:38Speaker 2: year she played, we went to the final four. And
- 3:41Speaker 2: we lost, so in their mind like, yeah, we're good
- 3:48Speaker 2: enough to get to the Finnal four, but we're not
- 3:49Speaker 2: good enough to win it. And I remember saying the page,
- 3:53Speaker 2: I said, well, because you keep doing the same thing
- 3:55Speaker 2: every year, so until you start to operate differently, you're
- 4:02Speaker 2: going to get the same results all the time. And
- 4:06Speaker 2: it's weird. You know today's today's kids like you can't
- 4:13Speaker 2: you can't really like go at them and challenge them
- 4:17Speaker 2: like you could, you know, with d and you know
- 4:21Speaker 2: Renee and May and those guys were you you know,
- 4:25Speaker 2: Stephanie Dowson and you could just you could say things
- 4:29Speaker 2: to the end that would really piss them off, and
- 4:31Speaker 2: they would just want to rip somebody's face off. You know,
- 4:36Speaker 2: one thing I realized last year, right around this time,
- 4:38Speaker 2: is you can't do that to today's players. Cannot You
- 4:44Speaker 2: have to remind them all the time how great they are,
- 4:48Speaker 2: you do you have to tell them all the time,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you guys are great. South Carolina is not any good.
- 4:54Speaker 2: We're gonna kill.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Them, Yeah, let's go get them.
- 4:58Speaker 2: That's kind of what they want to hear. Okay, because
- 5:01Speaker 2: for Notre Dame, I said, look, those guys, they're like
- 5:03Speaker 2: you know, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. You know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: and we're going to go up there in the crowd
- 5:08Speaker 2: and all this, and you know, we got to be
- 5:10Speaker 2: tough for them, you know, the whole week, like, yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna piss them off like we did d and
- 5:14Speaker 2: those guys. And they went up there and they went, yeah, okay.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So the coach said, we're going to get our ask caed.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So we got our ascie. So I'm glad they But
- 5:25Speaker 2: but here's the problem with coaching my team. If they
- 5:29Speaker 2: listened to me and do exactly what I say. All right,
- 5:35Speaker 2: So I said Notre Dame was going to be this,
- 5:37Speaker 2: and I scared them. Then I said, I think we're
- 5:40Speaker 2: going to We're going to kill South Carolina, and we do.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Well.
- 5:45Speaker 2: At least they're listening to me. But then they come
- 5:49Speaker 2: out for the press conference after we played Tennessee and
- 5:53Speaker 2: somebody said what the coach saidt halftime that changed the
- 5:55Speaker 2: whole thing, and two out of the three of them go,
- 5:58Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't remember what the hell kind
- 6:02Speaker 2: of answer is A Luckily Sarah Strong bailed them mount.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You know, coach A, you're talking about this past Tennessee game.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yes, the past Tennessee game. Yeah. So it's like, well,
- 6:10Speaker 2: you listening to me or you're not listening to it.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I remember that, Yeah, Like how do you come out of.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Here and go I don't remember. Even if you don't remember,
- 6:17Speaker 2: lies say something.
- 6:19Speaker 1: All right, we'll take a quick break or get a
- 6:21Speaker 1: few thoughts on Senior Day with Gino when we come
- 6:22Speaker 1: back and wrap up the radio portion of the show
- 6:24Speaker 1: in a minute, Haara on Learfield to stay with us.
