- 0:02Speaker 1: have you on the program. As always, thank you. Quantas
- 0:06Speaker 1: to face a pretty hefty fine. This is for outsourcing
- 0:09Speaker 1: ground staff.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This long running dispute, very long running, yes, massive fine.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Said to be the largest case of illegal sackings in
- 0:18Speaker 2: Australia's history. Just to give you a small background, back
- 0:22Speaker 2: in twenty twenty, during the COVID pandemic, Quantus made the
- 0:25Speaker 2: decision to outsource its ground handling staff, which included baggage
- 0:30Speaker 2: handlers and cleaners and the like. Now then come forward
- 0:35Speaker 2: a little bit and the Transport Workers Union decided that
- 0:38Speaker 2: they would take Quantus to court and sue them for
- 0:42Speaker 2: that illegal sacking. So that's what happened, and earlier this
- 0:46Speaker 2: year Quantus was found guilty of the illegal sacking of
- 0:50Speaker 2: all those workers. Now come to yesterday and the Federal
- 0:55Speaker 2: Court has decided that Quantus will be fined ninety million
- 0:59Speaker 2: dollars for those illegal sackings and fifty million of that
- 1:03Speaker 2: will be going to the Transport Workers' Union for the workers.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Well that's what Justice Michael Lee has suggested happen, and
- 1:09Speaker 2: the other forty million will be to sell what happens
- 1:12Speaker 2: with the other forty million will be decided at a
- 1:15Speaker 2: later date.
- 1:17Speaker 1: This shark Atteck now the beach closed. Another shark aitek
- 1:20Speaker 1: New South Wales.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yes, the second one in the roughly a month. What
- 1:26Speaker 2: happened was yesterday morning early Brad Ross was out serving
- 1:31Speaker 2: at Capareita Beach. It's a beach between Tweedheads and Byron
- 1:35Speaker 2: Bay and northern New South Wales and Brad found that
- 1:39Speaker 2: he had an unwanted visitor and that unwanted visitor was
- 1:43Speaker 2: a large great white shark, probably about four meters and
- 1:47Speaker 2: it decided that it took a liking to his board
- 1:50Speaker 2: and chomped it in half, left a massive bitemark out
- 1:53Speaker 2: of the board which was now in two. And unfortunately
- 1:58Speaker 2: he wasn't hurt. He was able to get back back
- 2:00Speaker 2: to shore. But his border is a lot, a lot aware.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Thank goodness, Thank goodness, Leslie, thank goodness he is okay.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I did see his borden you run, there's a giant
- 2:10Speaker 1: chunk out of it. I wouldn't be getting back in
- 2:12Speaker 1: the water. Thanks for that update, Lesslie, Omen's Australia correspondent.
