- 1:53Speaker 9: See you there.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Getting fame almost cripples you, especially when when you get
- 1:58Speaker 5: it too early, right when you're still in the process,
- 2:00Speaker 5: because fame and notoriety makes you not do what needs
- 2:06Speaker 5: to be done to get to that next level. Right,
- 2:08Speaker 5: So say I need to be out there selling shirts
- 2:10Speaker 5: or selling CDs or selling something that will help my business.
- 2:14Speaker 5: The minute they put me on breakfast Club, like, I
- 2:17Speaker 5: can't stand out there, no way, right, So it cripples you.
- 2:22Speaker 5: It's like it says, damn, okay, now I'm too big
- 2:24Speaker 5: to do that. Well, you have to do that to
- 2:26Speaker 5: get there.
- 2:26Speaker 7: All right, guys, welcome back, e y l. This is
- 2:31Speaker 7: the battle of the monologue.
- 2:34Speaker 9: I shall be the referee, I guess.
- 2:37Speaker 7: And that's actually the first time that I met Loan.
- 2:41Speaker 7: I think it was two years ago, three years ago.
- 2:43Speaker 6: It might have been three. Three years ago, right, I
- 2:46Speaker 6: think it might have been like.
- 2:47Speaker 9: Yeah, that'd be two. It wasn't last year.
- 2:49Speaker 6: It might have been three. It might have been three.
- 2:51Speaker 9: It was that Revolts three years ago. He's in the pandemic.
- 2:56Speaker 5: But it was the first Revolts.
- 2:57Speaker 7: I think it might have been three, because that's when
- 2:59Speaker 7: we did invest fast. The first year was like right
- 3:03Speaker 7: after twenty one. Different first year. Yeah that's crazy.
- 3:07Speaker 9: Yeah, when you came you came to New York.
- 3:10Speaker 5: Yeah yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 7: But so so we met at Revolt summit, and I
- 3:14Speaker 7: think he was just starting out at that time.
- 3:16Speaker 5: Right man. I was down there chasing it. I'm like, yo, man,
- 3:18Speaker 5: I'm doing this thing. It was a million people.
- 3:20Speaker 6: Now, that's a fact.
- 3:22Speaker 10: It's always one.
- 3:24Speaker 6: That's a fact.
- 3:24Speaker 7: But now I introduced himself to me, and then we
- 3:27Speaker 7: just stayed in touch, stayed in communication, and I've been
- 3:30Speaker 7: watching his growth.
- 3:31Speaker 6: It's up there. Podcast, tearing up the game, interview people
- 3:34Speaker 6: like Little.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Baby Classic, nineteen Keys, Class, Alicia Classic, just.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Had Rory and mall on different on different times. That
- 3:43Speaker 6: was it. That was dope. You have Brandon Marshall on.
- 3:46Speaker 6: I saw.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Yeah, you do a lot of like interesting conversations because
- 3:51Speaker 7: you had the Brandon Marshall one on, then you had
- 3:54Speaker 7: next week, what do you have Fred Taylor? Shout out
- 3:56Speaker 7: to Fred. You have Fred Taylor. So it was kind
- 3:58Speaker 7: of like a different dynamic it. But somebody that I've
- 4:01Speaker 7: been watching consistently and you know, very impressed with the growth.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Hundred and seventy six episodes. Yeah, I ain't nothing to
- 4:11Speaker 4: sneeze that.
- 4:13Speaker 5: That's when a lot of them is solo.
- 4:15Speaker 9: That's the other part.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I don't know if he was going there, but like, yes,
- 4:18Speaker 4: you're doing interviews with people, but there's a lot of
- 4:21Speaker 4: episodes where it's just you and coming from this space
- 4:24Speaker 4: and you know, I got a shot and he has me.
- 4:26Speaker 9: That's not easy, man.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Nah, Everything in this space is energy based, right, So
- 4:31Speaker 5: even when you get when you look at Drink Champs,
- 4:33Speaker 5: when you look at podcast. Let's just use Drink Champs
- 4:36Speaker 5: for an example. Shout out nor drink Champs. But that
- 4:39Speaker 5: whole vibration in there, the clapping there, it's just it
- 4:44Speaker 5: just loosens you. It just when you turn a mic
- 4:47Speaker 5: on and you got to just be like, yo, let's
- 4:49Speaker 5: kick it. It's a different it's a different beast.
- 4:51Speaker 7: It's just you in that room for sure. So we're
- 4:55Speaker 7: going to talk about when. It's always good when that
- 4:57Speaker 7: we get fellow podcasters on the show. You know, we've
- 5:00Speaker 7: interviewed David Shan's a bunch of other people, Ash Cash,
- 5:06Speaker 7: Choe Button. Who else do we interview in the podcast
- 5:09Speaker 7: space Wallow a while back. Yep, So it's always good
- 5:12Speaker 7: many Yeah, shout out to Mandy B. It's always good
- 5:15Speaker 7: to get different perspectives as far as this industry, new
- 5:19Speaker 7: age media, changing the game, creating a business, learning infrastructure challenges,
- 5:25Speaker 7: you know, situations that come arise.
- 5:28Speaker 6: So I'm excited to have this conversation. Thank you for
- 5:31Speaker 6: joining us, brother.
- 5:32Speaker 4: And you know, another part I think is dope is
- 5:33Speaker 4: that we had started Earn Your Leisure and we get
- 5:37Speaker 4: to kick it with people who have actually watched our
- 5:39Speaker 4: journey and they get to reflect and say, I watched
- 5:41Speaker 4: y'all do this, so I'm doing this So those conversations
- 5:44Speaker 4: are always dope because we're so far thinking I AD
- 5:47Speaker 4: and looking forward that we're not looking at some of
- 5:49Speaker 4: the the you know, the trail blazing things that we're
- 5:52Speaker 4: doing and people are taking and implementing on their own.
- 5:54Speaker 9: So these are dope conversations.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Man, for sure. And it's only been two years. Man,
- 5:58Speaker 5: that's just crazy to me, even with what y'all deal
- 6:01Speaker 5: with investmentst Just like in a couple of years, things
- 6:05Speaker 5: can change. It's important people to understand that in a
- 6:07Speaker 5: couple of years things can change.
- 6:09Speaker 7: Bro, that's a fact. So all right, so let's start
- 6:11Speaker 7: at the beginning. You from Nashville, Tennessee. Fact shouts the
- 6:15Speaker 7: slim and husky.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Shout out the demost slimming husky guys. They smoking that, yeah, guys.
- 6:22Speaker 9: Man.
- 6:22Speaker 7: So they said that you was the same way since
- 6:24Speaker 7: high school. Like they said, you've always been the same way.
- 6:26Speaker 7: So when did you ire you coming up? How do
- 6:29Speaker 7: you get this idea? Okay, I want to start a show,
- 6:30Speaker 7: and everybody wants to start a show. Now, everybody wants
- 6:32Speaker 7: to do a podcast. Now, very few people are successful.
- 6:35Speaker 7: You are one of the few people that's actually been
- 6:36Speaker 7: able to break through and become successful. How does that
- 6:41Speaker 7: start and how do you get to the point you
- 6:42Speaker 7: are now?
- 6:43Speaker 5: For me, bro I when I looked at podcasting, number one,
- 6:47Speaker 5: I'm a fan of information, and so I've always made
- 6:51Speaker 5: myself go after wherever the information is that whether that
- 6:55Speaker 5: be books, whether that be podcasts, whatever element, you find
- 7:00Speaker 5: the reasons why things work. Like I was just talking
- 7:03Speaker 5: to you about you got to learn why things work,
- 7:05Speaker 5: not how to get into involved with things. And so
- 7:08Speaker 5: I was trying to figure out how to get involved
- 7:11Speaker 5: with a different side of society, just being from the street,
- 7:15Speaker 5: just being from the other side. And so what I
- 7:17Speaker 5: knew about podcasting was number one. I felt like none
- 7:20Speaker 5: of these guys can do it better than me. That's
- 7:22Speaker 5: number one. That's number one.
- 7:24Speaker 6: But gave you that confidence just from.
- 7:26Speaker 5: Being in the street, just being around pimps and players,
- 7:32Speaker 5: guys I've been around all my life, was a player,
- 7:37Speaker 5: you know, So it's natural.
- 7:38Speaker 9: Number one requirement.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Show is the cloth, it's the texture, right, because what
- 7:46Speaker 5: I do is ceremony.
- 7:48Speaker 10: It ain't hard, you know what I'm saying. But when
- 7:51Speaker 10: I when I.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Told myself that and I actually believed it, that's step two.
- 7:55Speaker 5: You gotta believe that just saying it ain't enough, you
- 7:58Speaker 5: know what I mean? So I believe that, and I
- 8:00Speaker 5: told myself, if I get nothing from podcasting, the number
- 8:04Speaker 5: one thing I can do is, let's say I want
- 8:06Speaker 5: to go into the textile industry. I interview people that
- 8:09Speaker 5: it's in the textile industry to learn that business, or
- 8:12Speaker 5: I learned things from it. It becomes a tool for me.
- 8:15Speaker 6: It's a great networking too.
- 8:17Speaker 5: It if it never becomes nothing else, it's a networking tool.
- 8:21Speaker 5: And the other side of that is when people came
- 8:24Speaker 5: to me asking for things, I never just give you
- 8:27Speaker 5: money or I never just it's always a tongue lash.
- 8:31Speaker 6: You give them game on the street.
- 8:32Speaker 5: I'm always saying, yo, man, you ain't put that together.
- 8:34Speaker 5: You're still doing that. You ain't figured out. You bumping
- 8:37Speaker 5: your head up against the wall.
- 8:38Speaker 10: You you know, I'm putting.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Game down as they picking money now. And so I'm saying, man,
- 8:43Speaker 5: I might as well getting the podcast. And it's it's
- 8:45Speaker 5: a lame for me. And I took it serious.
- 8:47Speaker 6: And so so what's what's the first step.
- 8:51Speaker 7: So you because you in a unique situation where you're
- 8:55Speaker 7: in Nashville, Tennessee, right most podcasts, A lot of podcasts
- 8:59Speaker 7: coming out of New York area.
- 9:01Speaker 6: When you got Ernie a.
- 9:02Speaker 7: Lisia, you got Mandy and Weezy, you got Joe Butten.
- 9:07Speaker 7: It's a variety of different people. But then a lot
- 9:10Speaker 7: of podcasters is also in Miami, Brandon Marshall and Drank Champs.
- 9:16Speaker 7: And then Atlanta, of course, because Atlanta is Atlanta and.
- 9:19Speaker 9: La got a couple out there.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Who's La hel who's the show we did the show
- 9:25Speaker 5: Good Bombs?
- 9:26Speaker 6: What's oh yeah, good Mom's Bad Choices, Bad Choices?
- 9:28Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Even Cam was in New York at first. Now he's
- 9:31Speaker 7: in Vegas, but he started in Jersey. But I'm saying
- 9:34Speaker 7: this to say, like Gillian Wild, they're unique becuse they're
- 9:36Speaker 7: in Philly. So that's that's out the way. Nobody's going
- 9:39Speaker 7: to Philly.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 9:40Speaker 7: You're even more out the way as far as Nashville.
- 9:43Speaker 7: So when you first starting out, how do you get
- 9:46Speaker 7: enough momentum from Nashville to make it? Because that's something
- 9:51Speaker 7: that I think could be beneficial because most people are
- 9:53Speaker 7: not in New York or Atlanta. Most people are in
- 9:55Speaker 7: you know, Minnesota and Cleveland, Ohio, in different parts of
- 9:59Speaker 7: the country. So they might be frustrated because they feel
- 10:01Speaker 7: like geographically they're not in a positions like music, right,
- 10:05Speaker 7: they're not in a position where they can touch the stars,
- 10:08Speaker 7: the celebrities and stuff like that.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Yeah, And you know what I think it was for
- 10:13Speaker 5: me was when I first started again, I studied the game.
- 10:17Speaker 5: So I said, nobody's coming to help you.
- 10:20Speaker 9: You're on an island.
- 10:22Speaker 5: And so when you going to a job site, I
- 10:25Speaker 5: say this out of the time. When you going to
- 10:27Speaker 5: a job site, you carry every tool you need when
- 10:29Speaker 5: you don't expect the coworker to be there.
- 10:32Speaker 10: Right, if you got your.
- 10:33Speaker 5: Tool belt and you're saying, I'm going to do this kitchen,
- 10:35Speaker 5: ain't nobody coming. You prepared different You packed differently when
- 10:39Speaker 5: you travel alone. And so when I came up, that's
- 10:43Speaker 5: the first step I had to literally believe that I
- 10:45Speaker 5: can speak on things from this perspective and it'll mean
- 10:49Speaker 5: something in a game that doesn't live close to where
- 10:52Speaker 5: I'm at, you know. And then my relationships I leaned on,
- 10:56Speaker 5: you know, but that's laid on.
- 10:59Speaker 10: I think I U social media.
- 11:00Speaker 6: But no guests. You have no guests.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I'm no guests for one hundred, one hundred and something.
- 11:05Speaker 7: That's extremely important to highlight too, because so like Market Monday,
- 11:09Speaker 7: it is a show where it shot out the end.
- 11:11Speaker 6: We don't have guests that often.
- 11:13Speaker 7: That's better because when you rely on guests, you gotta
- 11:18Speaker 7: be a booking agent. If somebody doesn't like this, person
- 11:21Speaker 7: ain't not gonna watch the show. But you want people
- 11:23Speaker 7: to tune in just for you, no matter who's on,
- 11:26Speaker 7: they gonna just they want to hear your voice.
- 11:29Speaker 9: Even the other aspect is there.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Sometimes they might feel intimidated by coming on your show
- 11:33Speaker 4: because they know the level of thought and processing that's
- 11:36Speaker 4: going to take from the questioning.
- 11:37Speaker 9: So it's like I may not want to do.
- 11:39Speaker 5: That right, and you deal with that. And so again
- 11:41Speaker 5: when I I don't know, man, I believe I just
- 11:45Speaker 5: I credited to understanding the game because I wouldn't been
- 11:48Speaker 5: able to speak with no matter. If there's something a
- 11:51Speaker 5: common theme I get and maybe this is why we're
- 11:53Speaker 5: like working through this in real time because I never
- 11:56Speaker 5: thought about that. But a common theme I get is
- 11:59Speaker 5: people can feeluthenticity when I speak right, and so I
- 12:03Speaker 5: think it's something there's something there. There's something there with
- 12:06Speaker 5: people saying, yo, I don't know where that nigga coming from.
- 12:09Speaker 5: But what he's saying is ringing true, is vibrating, and
- 12:14Speaker 5: I don't know, man, it just took out.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I really can't say.
- 12:17Speaker 5: I do know.
- 12:18Speaker 10: I knew enough about it enough to be interested in them.
- 12:21Speaker 7: But there's something, there's a learning point here, there's some
- 12:23Speaker 7: game to be provided here. You didn't have guests, You
- 12:27Speaker 7: did it yourself. I would like for you to kind
- 12:30Speaker 7: of even break down how you even create monologues to
- 12:33Speaker 7: create a hour That's not easy to create a hour
- 12:35Speaker 7: long show by yourself, even market money.
- 12:36Speaker 6: We have three people.
- 12:38Speaker 7: Because a lot of people like I got a lot
- 12:40Speaker 7: of friends that start in podcasting. They everybody's starting that
- 12:44Speaker 7: podcast with guests. But when you just starting out, your
- 12:48Speaker 7: guest is going to be like your local homeboy, probably
- 12:51Speaker 7: people in a broad skal. I don't really care about that,
- 12:54Speaker 7: that type of ques. You broke the mold by doing
- 12:58Speaker 7: it just by yourself. So and now people is like
- 13:02Speaker 7: listening and identifying to that.
- 13:03Speaker 5: And you know what's crazy, bro, I freestyled the whole shit.
- 13:07Speaker 5: I freestyle. I never wrote nothing.
- 13:10Speaker 6: Just topics like you just had topics.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Topics of course, right, and then I may have clips,
- 13:14Speaker 5: So I may have clips and maybe this is game
- 13:17Speaker 5: for some people. So I may have a clip that
- 13:19Speaker 5: I want to speak about a time stamp in that clip,
- 13:23Speaker 5: but as far as a topic, it may just say,
- 13:26Speaker 5: like say we're dealing with a relationship or somebody or
- 13:29Speaker 5: something going on in business, or or we're dealing with
- 13:31Speaker 5: a contract dispute or skipping shanning or something like that.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I'll just take this topic and look at it and say,
- 13:38Speaker 5: in real time, like do you think these two hour
- 13:42Speaker 5: will podcasts are really eight hours long? Because I'm in
- 13:45Speaker 5: real time watching this ship and like reacting and being
- 13:49Speaker 5: like yo, man, And then sometimes I'll started skipping shinning
- 13:53Speaker 5: and it takes me way over to you know, not
- 13:57Speaker 5: going in the trick bag and elevating your b business
- 14:00Speaker 5: and the discovery process of a podcast, and I'm way
- 14:03Speaker 5: over there based on this, So it's really no methic
- 14:06Speaker 5: to it. I think I'm high consumption. I think what
- 14:09Speaker 5: makes me dangerous in this space is that I'm very
- 14:12Speaker 5: high consumption, meaning I'm never listening to anything but books podcasts,
- 14:17Speaker 5: Like all day, I got something in my ear, I
- 14:19Speaker 5: sleep with something in my ear of books, I sleep
- 14:22Speaker 5: with certain things just going on at all day and
- 14:25Speaker 5: I think that may be what.
- 14:26Speaker 4: So the geographical thing is one piece of it, and
- 14:29Speaker 4: picking up the mic is one piece of it. But
- 14:30Speaker 4: the other part is, like, there's somebody that has to
- 14:33Speaker 4: get behind that camera.
- 14:34Speaker 9: Most times we've seen you, it's only been you. Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 9: So are you the person that's also producing it? Yeah,
- 14:41Speaker 9: and editing it? Yeah? That's all you from day one? Yeah,
- 14:45Speaker 9: talk about that man.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Yeah, Like you gotta believe in.
- 14:48Speaker 9: Something that's crazy.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Yeah, you gotta believe in something like For me, I
- 14:52Speaker 5: was putting myself in a position to think, like I
- 14:56Speaker 5: can do this, and I'm telling you, if I didn't
- 14:58Speaker 5: believe it, I wouldn't have done it. And I transitioned
- 15:01Speaker 5: from the streets with enough money to maintain to be
- 15:04Speaker 5: able to focus on this for eighteen months and pay
- 15:07Speaker 5: my bills and take care of my family. That's the
- 15:10Speaker 5: piece that I think most men, coming from any perspective,
- 15:14Speaker 5: don't have the financial stability to land themselves in a
- 15:17Speaker 5: position to be able to just say I'm parting for
- 15:20Speaker 5: eighteen months. I want to see what happened, right, And
- 15:23Speaker 5: that's without the information of knowing how to talk or
- 15:26Speaker 5: studying anything. That's just saying I got eighteen months to
- 15:30Speaker 5: dedicate even to my business. And I think the dedication
- 15:33Speaker 5: is what people see shine and bright. It's literally dedication
- 15:36Speaker 5: of Oh, don't nobody work, because here's the thing. I
- 15:40Speaker 5: did start off paying everybody, here's a piece of it.
- 15:43Speaker 5: I also started off with two co hosts. So I
- 15:46Speaker 5: started off with two girls shut Out Jade and Dasha
- 15:49Speaker 5: in my town. And it became a heavy lift for
- 15:53Speaker 5: me because at the time podcasts, and this was four
- 15:56Speaker 5: years before I started a podcast, so again I was earlier.
- 15:59Speaker 5: I was the same time Joe and them started, at
- 16:02Speaker 5: the same time Charlemagne them started, I was there. I
- 16:06Speaker 5: just stopped it because I did about ten episodes, and
- 16:09Speaker 5: I said, Yo, it's just heavy lifting, right, It's just
- 16:13Speaker 5: it costing me too much. I gotta rent the building.
- 16:15Speaker 5: I gotta get somebody to come in. Recorded. These my
- 16:18Speaker 5: two co hosts, they really don't know what we're doing,
- 16:20Speaker 5: so they just kind of showing up. I'm feeding them
- 16:22Speaker 5: topics and feeding them direction as to what the show.
- 16:26Speaker 5: So it just became almost like a burden. And so
- 16:30Speaker 5: I said, you know what, I'm tapping out of that.
- 16:32Speaker 5: And so when the pandemic hits, when I said crank
- 16:36Speaker 5: that backup, crank, let's crank up, full speed, let's go,
- 16:40Speaker 5: and even before the pandemic. But the pandemic is when
- 16:43Speaker 5: I really started. You start seeing a lot of clips
- 16:45Speaker 5: and you start seeing you gotta even see how many
- 16:47Speaker 5: phases my brand has went through. I used to use
- 16:50Speaker 5: Law and Order, so you gotta think I want to
- 16:55Speaker 5: keep it. Even the audience rolling with me.
- 16:57Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying, Oh, that's one of them.
- 17:00Speaker 5: So it's just all of those things creatively made it
- 17:04Speaker 5: cut through because no podcast was doing no fucking what
- 17:07Speaker 5: was that, you know, first of all talking like me,
- 17:11Speaker 5: and then Law and Order noise out of nowhere and
- 17:14Speaker 5: he spinning some shit though, you know, and it's like,
- 17:17Speaker 5: I think it resonated with the people, bron but I
- 17:20Speaker 5: don't know, man, that's these are I really can't say
- 17:23Speaker 5: I believed, man, because I believe.
- 17:26Speaker 7: So you just you just taught yourself how to use camera,
- 17:28Speaker 7: how to use the microphone.
- 17:29Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Well, here's the thing. I'm always searching for information again,
- 17:34Speaker 5: I'm learning processes. So when I was hiring the dudes,
- 17:40Speaker 5: I w was peeping game the same way I told y'all,
- 17:42Speaker 5: every building I go in, I come out with something
- 17:45Speaker 5: because I don't play the game on easy mode. Put
- 17:50Speaker 5: this on hard coin. Let's see what we can do.
- 17:52Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. So I got gained from
- 17:55Speaker 5: guys who set my cameras up. Here's why I felt say.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I come from the streets, so I'm cost effective. I'm
- 18:01Speaker 5: always cast sheep. What is this cousting? And why so
- 18:04Speaker 5: when I seen that? Because again even the camera mean
- 18:07Speaker 5: wasn't interested in podcasting at that time. So they will
- 18:10Speaker 5: come and put the cameras up and you will see
- 18:12Speaker 5: them over that kind of so you don't think I'm
- 18:15Speaker 5: peeping that what I'm saying, damn. So it must not
- 18:19Speaker 5: be nothing for us to get this gone. This is
- 18:21Speaker 5: set it and forget it. This is QVC, this is
- 18:27Speaker 5: set it and forget it. So I said to myself,
- 18:33Speaker 5: Oh so he see, because this is another thing you
- 18:38Speaker 5: did with this levels to this for young creators, bro,
- 18:41Speaker 5: another thing you're going to run into. This is why
- 18:43Speaker 5: you need to know what titles and job description is
- 18:45Speaker 5: to give the people you pay people to trick you
- 18:48Speaker 5: in the producer tag.
- 18:49Speaker 10: When they'll just come set your cameras up.
- 18:51Speaker 5: That's not my producer, that's a fact right. So what
- 18:58Speaker 5: happens is I have guys in there. They have set
- 19:00Speaker 5: my cameras up, and I'm saying, oh, man, I'm paying
- 19:03Speaker 5: him like a producer. I'm paying I'm paying him like
- 19:07Speaker 5: he's doing a hell of a thing. And I said, oh,
- 19:10Speaker 5: he don't know that he ain't a producer. They done
- 19:13Speaker 5: tricked him. So this trickery go levels. I'm from the bottom.
- 19:18Speaker 5: I'm saying, hold on. The number one thing you do
- 19:21Speaker 5: when you ain't got a boat load of money, is
- 19:22Speaker 5: you better figure out where you spending that money atact.
- 19:25Speaker 5: I can't waste this money on you. I'm paying you
- 19:27Speaker 5: to sit over something.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I can do that. Something he doing, I may, I
- 19:32Speaker 3: can't pay you to do that.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Now. If I have seen him over it all day,
- 19:35Speaker 5: he got the willing, If all day he got the will,
- 19:38Speaker 5: it like it's here, I say, now, I got I
- 19:41Speaker 5: got the pain.
- 19:41Speaker 9: If you got the sleeve. Right.
- 19:44Speaker 5: But if he set that and he leaves, that ain't
- 19:48Speaker 5: worth two thousand dollars every week. So even that right,
- 19:53Speaker 5: and young creators got to know that there's a time
- 19:56Speaker 5: to spend money.
- 19:57Speaker 10: But there's also a black hole in this industry.
- 19:59Speaker 5: You can just pore money in this industry with no benefits,
- 20:03Speaker 5: no affix for that money will come. And so I
- 20:06Speaker 5: think that as I knew that so many people from
- 20:09Speaker 5: the street, even being you know, I did things in
- 20:11Speaker 5: rap while I've lost money, I said, oh, it's a
- 20:14Speaker 5: black hole in the industry. I got partners that got
- 20:17Speaker 5: features from high priced rappers that ain't went nowhere. So
- 20:21Speaker 5: I'm peeping game as i'm living's let's go there then, right,
- 20:25Speaker 5: Because everything, even when you're doing commentary and you have
- 20:28Speaker 5: these mono laws, it always relates back to business. Yes,
- 20:31Speaker 5: because even in the title of the show, you're a businessman, yes,
- 20:35Speaker 5: but you ain't go to business school, right, So you
- 20:37Speaker 5: always talk about the streets, the streets, yes, to talk
- 20:40Speaker 5: about that relationship between the streets and what has made
- 20:42Speaker 5: you the businessman and have the business acumen that you have. Now, Well,
- 20:46Speaker 5: when I use the streets, and I'm glad you asked
- 20:48Speaker 5: me that, because it's important in my corporate partners and
- 20:51Speaker 5: people that view me understand this. When I use the
- 20:55Speaker 5: term streets, I'm using that synonymous with culture. And the
- 20:58Speaker 5: only reason I the reason I'm doing that is because
- 21:01Speaker 5: the culture tend to forget about the streets. When it's
- 21:05Speaker 5: time to benefit somebody, when it's time to get paid,
- 21:08Speaker 5: when it's time to do anything other than protect the
- 21:11Speaker 5: streets ain't mentioned. So I'm no longer involved in the streets,
- 21:16Speaker 5: but I always say the streets because I want those
- 21:19Speaker 5: guys that are living, that are understanding that there is
- 21:21Speaker 5: a door outside of that. You can be the king
- 21:24Speaker 5: of the jungle, but there's life outside of the jungle.
- 21:27Speaker 5: There's a world outside of that. And so I just
- 21:30Speaker 5: sometimes there's really me dog whistling back in to the
- 21:33Speaker 5: ghetto way up here at the top of the mountain,
- 21:37Speaker 5: talking about the streets. When they now, one of these
- 21:39Speaker 5: niggas gonna say nothing about the streets. They don't give
- 21:41Speaker 5: a damn about the streets up through her brother, they.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Don't give a damn.
- 21:45Speaker 5: And I don't gotta give a damn about the streets.
- 21:48Speaker 5: I'm literally dog whistling for dudes I know following me,
- 21:52Speaker 5: like most of these guys ahead of me didn't do.
- 21:54Speaker 5: And this is why I'm personally involved with the way
- 21:57Speaker 5: that the game is being handled, because it's people ahead
- 22:00Speaker 5: of me. They don't understand that they're leading the race,
- 22:03Speaker 5: but that don't mean winning the race. They've confused that.
- 22:08Speaker 5: So because they're leading the race, they think they win
- 22:10Speaker 5: winning the race. Right, And so I'm sitting back saying,
- 22:14Speaker 5: let's not do that. Now, what where were we at?
- 22:16Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I go off there. That's why it goes
- 22:18Speaker 5: a passion. I'm gonna give it back.
- 22:19Speaker 9: Now.
- 22:20Speaker 4: We were talking about the business, right, because these are
- 22:22Speaker 4: things that even when we started to show it was
- 22:25Speaker 4: let's just add value. We figured out the business part
- 22:28Speaker 4: right as we went along. You're figuring it out as well. Right,
- 22:32Speaker 4: you started by yourself, Well, you started with partners. You
- 22:34Speaker 4: realize this is not the most beneficial from a financial standpoint.
- 22:37Speaker 4: I got to pay for the studio. I'm playing for
- 22:38Speaker 4: this guy. Let's stop this. But when you call those partners,
- 22:41Speaker 4: let's correct that. Also for the young Crest co hosts,
- 22:44Speaker 4: different partners. We see people smearing.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I don't want to nobody hold.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Co hosting partners we run.
- 22:55Speaker 9: I don't want to trick anybody thinking they are partner host.
- 23:01Speaker 4: You revent it, right, a better business actimen at that time,
- 23:05Speaker 4: we reshape it, retool it.
- 23:07Speaker 9: How'd you get to that point?
- 23:08Speaker 5: Okay, So again and I spoke to using streets. But
- 23:11Speaker 5: the business side of it was for me watching the
- 23:15Speaker 5: business and being a business man. If you come from
- 23:17Speaker 5: the streets and you really operated in the streets, you
- 23:21Speaker 5: access a certain set of skills which is business.
- 23:24Speaker 10: It just ain't got the tag on it. It just didn't
- 23:26Speaker 10: come with the diploma.
- 23:28Speaker 5: But if you really dealing with supplying demand and there's
- 23:31Speaker 5: certain things involved that you have a case load that
- 23:33Speaker 5: you got to handle it. And if you controlling a neighborhood,
- 23:37Speaker 5: just think about that. If you controlling a neighborhood, you
- 23:40Speaker 5: can control a business. And so I controlled my neighborhood,
- 23:44Speaker 5: I controlled everything around me, So I knew I could
- 23:47Speaker 5: control a business. And I started to watch and I
- 23:51Speaker 5: translated the skills. The streets is the only place where
- 23:54Speaker 5: you get a bunch of skills you can't translate, but
- 23:56Speaker 5: the business side of it can translate. Right, tough shit,
- 24:00Speaker 5: don't translate. It's a lot of it. You gotta drop off.
- 24:03Speaker 5: It's dead weight if you travel with it to slow
- 24:05Speaker 5: you down, right, But there's certain things translate, and I
- 24:09Speaker 5: think that the business side of the streets translated for me.
- 24:12Speaker 5: And I watched these guys. I know I know everything
- 24:15Speaker 5: about this coach. I know who did the deals. I
- 24:17Speaker 5: know how much the deals were for. I know when
- 24:20Speaker 5: Rogan started, how he got his deal, who was his editors,
- 24:23Speaker 5: who was his producer, way recorded? I know what Button started,
- 24:28Speaker 5: Charlo Main. I know what this entire game. That's why
- 24:30Speaker 5: I don't know why they playing with me, because I
- 24:33Speaker 5: know that you don't make it this far without the information, brother,
- 24:37Speaker 5: and so I think they just really don't understand it. Behay.
- 24:41Speaker 5: I think the business side comes from number one, paying
- 24:43Speaker 5: attention youngsters. If you don't know nothing else side there, man,
- 24:46Speaker 5: you can pick up game because game is being executed.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Y'all just executed game and invest fitst If you didn't
- 24:52Speaker 5: pick nothing up from that, and if you went there
- 24:54Speaker 5: just literally and got nothing. If people are alleged they
- 24:58Speaker 5: go to something like that and get no nothing, I
- 25:00Speaker 5: say shame on you. If nothing else is game being
- 25:04Speaker 5: executed from the highest level.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I've took a brain and how we not so understand that?
- 25:11Speaker 9: Right?
- 25:11Speaker 5: It's understanding then how processes worked to even see investments
- 25:16Speaker 5: get pulled off. It's process information in that you did
- 25:21Speaker 5: what I'm saying, So again, I'm getting somebody of every transaction.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Nothing is left on the board.
- 25:26Speaker 7: So all right, so you get up and running, you
- 25:29Speaker 7: figure out the monologue, you tape it yourself.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Now you're getting traction.
- 25:33Speaker 7: You figure out how to edit videos on social media,
- 25:36Speaker 7: and you become you know, popping on social media. Now
- 25:39Speaker 7: the next level is to start to actually make money
- 25:42Speaker 7: from the podcast. Right, So I know you're a black
- 25:43Speaker 7: effect now, But when you start to figure that out
- 25:46Speaker 7: as far as like ads and like like, you know,
- 25:50Speaker 7: cause a lot of people have successful shows, but they
- 25:52Speaker 7: still haven't they don't know how to make money from it.
- 25:54Speaker 6: R Right, That's that's the part that they don't tell
- 25:56Speaker 6: you about either.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Right, nobody's gonna tell you that it's about packaging. This
- 26:00Speaker 5: is why you see me scream from the top of
- 26:02Speaker 5: the mountain and some of the most powerful people in
- 26:05Speaker 5: this space ain't doing business. Is because I can look
- 26:08Speaker 5: at it and see there's no business surrounding a lot
- 26:11Speaker 5: of these streams, a lot of these things that we're seeing.
- 26:14Speaker 5: The business that I know to be in this space,
- 26:16Speaker 5: how you execute business, how you do ads. There's only
- 26:20Speaker 5: a certain amount of business even available in this space.
- 26:23Speaker 6: That's effect. You gotta be creative and think outside.
- 26:25Speaker 5: The right, right, And so when I see it, I'm saying, Yo,
- 26:28Speaker 5: we have confused noise with business, attention with business. We
- 26:33Speaker 5: have confused these two. And so I'm executing business from
- 26:37Speaker 5: day one, and so all of my partnerships respect that
- 26:40Speaker 5: a lot of people meet the audience before they meet
- 26:42Speaker 5: the business.
- 26:43Speaker 10: You see what I'm saying.
- 26:44Speaker 5: That ain't how I done. I watched the business first
- 26:48Speaker 5: when I took off. That's why I was speaking from
- 26:50Speaker 5: the perspective of knowing the business. Hey, I think that
- 26:53Speaker 5: deal is over. They moving funny. Certain things were said.
- 26:56Speaker 5: I think if you use context clues, they don't. Spotify
- 26:59Speaker 5: doesn't do is If that doesn't happen, Apple doesn't make.
- 27:02Speaker 3: That move it right.
- 27:03Speaker 5: It's the business that I'm seeing happening in the market.
- 27:06Speaker 5: The same way with the stock market. You see certain things. Oh,
- 27:10Speaker 5: they about to pass this law, that stock is going
- 27:13Speaker 5: to be affected by that. They about to get funded
- 27:15Speaker 5: for this grant or this funded that stock will be
- 27:17Speaker 5: I'm watching the game, and so I think that if
- 27:20Speaker 5: I never done that, I wouldn't have made it this
- 27:23Speaker 5: as far as I did. You know what I mean
- 27:25Speaker 5: the monologue piece of it. I want a master because
- 27:27Speaker 5: I think I have something. Now I think I have something.
- 27:31Speaker 5: I can really horn this stuff.
- 27:32Speaker 7: No, your monologues are excellent, and like I said, I
- 27:35Speaker 7: do monologues, so I appreciate the monologue, but your monologues.
- 27:39Speaker 7: I do monolagues like once every other week. You do
- 27:42Speaker 7: minolaut all the time, all the time, so it's harder
- 27:46Speaker 7: to like even like Mike a partner, mikeys like you
- 27:50Speaker 7: should do like a bunch of mine.
- 27:51Speaker 6: I told me, I gotta be inspired.
- 27:53Speaker 7: I can't just come and just do sixty monolagues for
- 27:56Speaker 7: one minute like it's actually art, Like I have to
- 27:59Speaker 7: be I said, it's it's not easy to do.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Yeah, no, because you got to pull from something. And
- 28:06Speaker 5: I think here's the thing. Also, that that scares me,
- 28:10Speaker 5: or not even scares me that I'm prepared for that
- 28:12Speaker 5: I or that I see that I that I'm watching,
- 28:15Speaker 5: is that because I haven't. Some people look at what
- 28:19Speaker 5: I do and say, Yo, you able to freestyle that ship.
- 28:23Speaker 5: That's some of the best shit I've ever seen. I say,
- 28:27Speaker 5: if I don't figure out how to structure that ship,
- 28:30Speaker 5: it may disappear. Because anything you don't know how to
- 28:33Speaker 5: do right, You need to know how to make that
- 28:36Speaker 5: chicken that way, just in case you never know when
- 28:40Speaker 5: you wake up the boar said, Man.
- 28:41Speaker 9: I can't got it.
- 28:42Speaker 5: I can't catch it. And I'm talking bro, because like
- 28:47Speaker 5: you say, it's the inspired piece, and I'm moving so fast,
- 28:51Speaker 5: I ain't even been able to celebrate certain things like
- 28:53Speaker 5: I ain't even certain people. Man if they went as
- 28:55Speaker 5: far as out undone that quick, they having parties and
- 29:00Speaker 5: we head down hustling.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Let's talk about the piece that especially when people come
- 29:06Speaker 4: into the space, the money. They think that there's tons
- 29:09Speaker 4: of money to be made here. They don't understand how
- 29:11Speaker 4: it works. They gotta understand CPMs RPMs, yes, choosing brands
- 29:17Speaker 4: to work with, choosing which brands not to work with,
- 29:20Speaker 4: sometimes turning down money because it just doesn't fit with
- 29:23Speaker 4: your brand. And the other part is from the add
- 29:26Speaker 4: agency when you get paid, because I feel like in
- 29:28Speaker 4: this space people don't understand. They think like somebody says, oh,
- 29:31Speaker 4: they're gonna give you ten thousand dollars and you're gonna
- 29:33Speaker 4: get that Monday. No, it's like net ninety or maybe
- 29:36Speaker 4: one to twenty and even after that. Yeah, so it
- 29:39Speaker 4: gets to a space where you might forget that you
- 29:41Speaker 4: did the ad four months ago. So talk about that
- 29:43Speaker 4: and learning that process. Also, let me go back to
- 29:45Speaker 4: what you asked.
- 29:47Speaker 5: If I didn't have enough money, I wouldn't have made it,
- 29:50Speaker 5: because again, you don't bump into the money by coincidence,
- 29:53Speaker 5: and ain't nobody telling you you literally got a call
- 29:56Speaker 5: about how to fuck do I make money from this audience?
- 30:00Speaker 5: That's why so many people got audiences that don't make
- 30:02Speaker 5: money from it. But for me, I tach brands to mine, right,
- 30:06Speaker 5: we speak about it, these ad things d CPMs. Right now,
- 30:10Speaker 5: I got a big deal on the table now for
- 30:13Speaker 5: a couple of gambling companies that won't end. And it's like,
- 30:15Speaker 5: I'm trying to comb through how that works. Don't know
- 30:17Speaker 5: if y'all interested in that or if y'all ever done that,
- 30:20Speaker 5: but yeah, no, somebody give you a check man. You
- 30:25Speaker 5: know I was always like that when I first came in,
- 30:27Speaker 5: even with revolts like.
- 30:28Speaker 10: Yo, what that money?
- 30:30Speaker 5: You know that money? I was saying, like, we agreed
- 30:32Speaker 5: to a number. What's going on with that number? Well
- 30:34Speaker 5: agreed to? I don't see that number like that now, Like, nah, bro,
- 30:39Speaker 5: gotta go through certain channels.
- 30:40Speaker 10: Even with our heart, it's certain channels.
- 30:42Speaker 5: That things got to go through. But as far as
- 30:45Speaker 5: ads man, you gotta have audience first.
- 30:48Speaker 10: Some people, you.
- 30:49Speaker 5: Gotta have audience, or you gotta have faith in the agency,
- 30:53Speaker 5: somebody at that that handles the agg gotta believe that
- 30:55Speaker 5: this is gonna do numbers anyway. And that's the built
- 30:58Speaker 5: in fan base. I always talk about that people like
- 31:01Speaker 5: us had to come in and carve out a space
- 31:03Speaker 5: without that built in fan base from rap. We didn't
- 31:06Speaker 5: drag anything over from rap, drag anything over from the NBA, NFL.
- 31:10Speaker 5: We stood up when nobody knew that face and said,
- 31:13Speaker 5: if I.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Don't be influential, marketable and.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Truthful, it don't do what it supposed to do, you
- 31:19Speaker 5: know what I mean. And we had to call that out.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I think that's some people need to really appreciate.
- 31:24Speaker 6: That's not yet. It's not a lot of people in
- 31:26Speaker 6: the space that have.
- 31:27Speaker 7: If you look at the top successful shows that Black shows,
- 31:32Speaker 7: Gilly was a rapper, Joe Buden was a rapper, Cam
- 31:35Speaker 7: and Math was a rapper. All of the sports shows
- 31:38Speaker 7: those guys played in the NFL.
- 31:41Speaker 5: All the smoke, NBA, Drank Champs Nor he was a rapper.
- 31:46Speaker 5: And then also, here's another thing on top of that,
- 31:50Speaker 5: we didn't even come in at an opportune time. Right.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Let's say we came in when the internet first popped off,
- 31:57Speaker 5: and we got the audience familiar with yo.
- 31:59Speaker 10: That's the people that talk about that it was crowded
- 32:03Speaker 10: in the pain.
- 32:03Speaker 5: I come in and dunked on need boys. It was
- 32:07Speaker 5: crowded in the paint home boy. I went and posted
- 32:10Speaker 5: off on the E four and man, just get the ball.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Here they telling about it. They say, three dudes, get
- 32:16Speaker 5: the ball that I got these boards, you know. And
- 32:18Speaker 5: that's the thing I think. That's the thing I think
- 32:22Speaker 5: people don't get, is that that's the same thing y'all did.
- 32:25Speaker 5: Nobody came with nobody knowing us to say.
- 32:28Speaker 4: And a whole different industry that they didn't think would
- 32:30Speaker 4: be possible for our community.
- 32:32Speaker 7: Well, let's let's talk about Let's talk about some podcasts,
- 32:35Speaker 7: yeah stuff, shall we? So I said this before, and
- 32:41Speaker 7: I agree with it, that there's not enough communication between
- 32:45Speaker 7: podcasters in the space, especially black podcasts. That's only people
- 32:48Speaker 7: I don't make know too many white podcasts, So I
- 32:49Speaker 7: can't speak on it, but this is hindering the growth
- 32:53Speaker 7: of podcasters. It might be small clicks, like if you
- 32:56Speaker 7: know someone, if you're a rapper and your rapper frame
- 32:58Speaker 7: comes in and you're gonaive them some information, but average kid
- 33:00Speaker 7: off the street has not provided that information. Why is
- 33:03Speaker 7: there a lack of communication amongst podcasters?
- 33:07Speaker 6: And it seems to.
- 33:09Speaker 7: Be a lot of friction a lot of times between podcasts.
- 33:13Speaker 6: Why is that?
- 33:14Speaker 5: For me? I think half of it and there's array
- 33:19Speaker 5: of things. Why this is the case? Half of it
- 33:22Speaker 5: is the same reason we celebrate some of these guys
- 33:26Speaker 5: that drive their audiences over. Some of these guys were
- 33:28Speaker 5: starving artists, right, and so when you when you are
- 33:32Speaker 5: someone who nah, it's I'm saying, listen, this is what
- 33:41Speaker 5: I'm saying, and and and then I'm gonna get to
- 33:43Speaker 5: the other layers of it. But I do believe that
- 33:47Speaker 5: when you get money, you get peaceful, and it takes time. Though,
- 33:51Speaker 5: I think that a lot of this culture has been
- 33:53Speaker 5: damaged from the rap game. They come in from a
- 33:56Speaker 5: lot of that residue from the rap shit the rap
- 34:00Speaker 5: is and it's the whole hole of that rigam on role.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 5: Yeah, they come with that into this space and they've
- 34:08Speaker 5: in infiltraded from a from a psychological perspective, but I
- 34:12Speaker 5: think it's I think it's space for them, right I'm
- 34:14Speaker 5: not saying that that it's not space, but I believe
- 34:17Speaker 5: when in this game that people really don't want to
- 34:19Speaker 5: see other people win. That's why you see me get
- 34:22Speaker 5: That's why you see me say certain things because I
- 34:24Speaker 5: don't need the relationships. But I promise you, man, if
- 34:27Speaker 5: these guys wanted, I big up Charlemagne, I big o'guallo.
- 34:31Speaker 5: They've helped me.
- 34:33Speaker 10: QCP coach K live baby.
- 34:36Speaker 5: These are guys that help me. But here's the thing
- 34:38Speaker 5: I'm noticing. As I go up, some of the information
- 34:42Speaker 5: becomes useless. See, you need new information for new levels,
- 34:47Speaker 5: and everybody know when they got the new levels that
- 34:50Speaker 5: they needed new information. You know, I don't let me
- 34:53Speaker 5: tell people. Nobody's telling you at the next level. So
- 34:56Speaker 5: I'll give you to this level. But as I said,
- 34:58Speaker 5: you don't have to figure this out yourself or it's
- 35:00Speaker 5: not I maybe don't have the time. I don't know
- 35:02Speaker 5: what it is. I don't even know if they know.
- 35:04Speaker 5: But I'm recognizing that. Okay, some of the game that
- 35:07Speaker 5: I'm operating with is outdated for my position.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Right again, I.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Just told y'all, you come from being in the super Bowl.
- 35:17Speaker 5: You come from watching the Super Bowl to now being
- 35:20Speaker 5: in the Super Bowl. So a lot of the game
- 35:22Speaker 5: I got was on the other side of the podcast
- 35:25Speaker 5: being what it is, you know what I'm saying. So
- 35:27Speaker 5: now I need updated game. The new game I need
- 35:30Speaker 5: is the ad game, the live show game, the guest game,
- 35:34Speaker 5: how to get booking the guests because some people get people.
- 35:37Speaker 5: I'm saying, Lord Jesus, I got a podcast hit my
- 35:40Speaker 5: I need some of that access to some of these guys.
- 35:43Speaker 3: But I don't call nobody.
- 35:45Speaker 5: I don't take it personal.
- 35:46Speaker 10: You know what I'm saying.
- 35:47Speaker 5: I know if I reach in my phone in call Wallow,
- 35:49Speaker 5: calls Charlamagne, can they gonna? They'll try. But at the
- 35:53Speaker 5: end of the day, I think we do have to
- 35:56Speaker 5: come together just a little bit more. But you know,
- 36:00Speaker 5: I'm a general, so I deal with everybody that's on
- 36:03Speaker 5: business and I deal with him in the right way.
- 36:06Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 36:07Speaker 9: You tell me what you think.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Let's let's ask that out.
- 36:09Speaker 6: What y'all think as.
- 36:10Speaker 7: Far as information, I feel like you get to a
- 36:13Speaker 7: point where people are people are happy for you until
- 36:16Speaker 7: you become a threat to them, Like you know what
- 36:18Speaker 7: I'm saying. It's like and that's just human nature. I
- 36:20Speaker 7: feel like people want to help. People always want to
- 36:22Speaker 7: root for the underdog. Nobody, nobody likes the champion, like
- 36:26Speaker 7: people like people like Floyd when he was going to
- 36:29Speaker 7: come up once he became money Mayweather.
- 36:31Speaker 5: Now it's it's a threat, and so what is the
- 36:34Speaker 5: help genuine if it comes that way?
- 36:36Speaker 4: Because if it comes initially, we just don't trust each other,
- 36:42Speaker 4: straight up, what it is that we don't trust each other,
- 36:43Speaker 4: That's what it is.
- 36:44Speaker 9: And we don't we're not vulnerable.
- 36:46Speaker 5: And then it be slicks things said. See here's another thing.
- 36:50Speaker 5: You got people playing doctor evil. Right, so there's again
- 36:56Speaker 5: there's little bombs being placed in ship. Right, So I
- 36:59Speaker 5: might early leisure right here, and I might do some
- 37:02Speaker 5: shit that ain't cool with some people that are your
- 37:05Speaker 5: leisure cool with and then it looked.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Funny, right, It is like, damn, how you let that happen?
- 37:11Speaker 5: Like even with and I'll say this, even with Ish,
- 37:14Speaker 5: that's my guy me and it's had a relationship when
- 37:18Speaker 5: when my name come up in a certain time, I'm.
- 37:20Speaker 9: Saying, damn, it's awkward.
- 37:22Speaker 5: It's awkward as a motherfucker man.
- 37:25Speaker 3: And I don't feel like.
- 37:28Speaker 5: For me, right, I'm a certain kind of guy. Man,
- 37:30Speaker 5: So it's like your name come up. You seen it
- 37:33Speaker 5: when we was backstage and investments, certain things will say.
- 37:36Speaker 5: I'm like, Yo, that shit ain't proper, man, that shit
- 37:38Speaker 5: ain't cool. That's how I am as an individual. Not
- 37:40Speaker 5: that I'm tough, rough or nothing, but I just feel
- 37:43Speaker 5: a certain way when people mishandle things and you bad
- 37:47Speaker 5: witness or you even know anything about it, and you
- 37:49Speaker 5: don't say nothing. But podcasting, like you said, it's turning
- 37:52Speaker 5: into rappers.
- 37:53Speaker 4: But imagine in rap like we always made this point
- 37:56Speaker 4: in sports and athletics, even in entertainment to a certain
- 37:59Speaker 4: sent when somebody signs a deal, you know what they're
- 38:02Speaker 4: signing for.
- 38:02Speaker 9: You can see it. In this space. It's a guessing game.
- 38:07Speaker 4: And when we don't trust each other and we're not
- 38:08Speaker 4: vulnerable enough to share, it doesn't help anybody.
- 38:11Speaker 5: It's lies going around.
- 38:12Speaker 9: Of course, Well nobody I signed for twenty million or
- 38:17Speaker 9: for ten million.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Well talk about how you structured this deal, because I
- 38:20Speaker 4: might be coming up to the plate or the other
- 38:23Speaker 4: end of the spectrum is that person who's just getting
- 38:25Speaker 4: into the space, who's the spectator now trying to get
- 38:27Speaker 4: on the playing field. They're taking a deal for one
- 38:29Speaker 4: hundred thousand, they're taking a jail for two hundred thousand,
- 38:32Speaker 4: and so now the machine is I can sign ten
- 38:34Speaker 4: of those.
- 38:34Speaker 9: Instead of instead of having one of you.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Right, right, So if we share the information, it's been
- 38:39Speaker 5: funny about what do you let's talk about what we
- 38:41Speaker 5: think a twenty million dollar deal looks, like, how do
- 38:44Speaker 5: we structure that?
- 38:45Speaker 7: So the thing about it is, and I feel like
- 38:47Speaker 7: it's interesting because we've never heard anybody have a breakdown
- 38:50Speaker 7: the deal before, right actly, But we know I'll just
- 38:52Speaker 7: give some general term that people might.
- 38:54Speaker 6: Not be aware of. So there's like guarantees.
- 38:57Speaker 7: Minimum guarantees is a term that all posts, all podcasts
- 39:00Speaker 7: should at to very least be aware of, right, And
- 39:03Speaker 7: that's to say, okay, like this is the minimum amount
- 39:05Speaker 7: of money that this is the amount of money that
- 39:07Speaker 7: you're definitely gonna get paid.
- 39:08Speaker 6: Right.
- 39:09Speaker 7: So if it's like if you sign and if you
- 39:12Speaker 7: sell no ads at all and you show just tanks
- 39:15Speaker 7: for some.
- 39:15Speaker 6: Reason, you're gonna get your million dollars a year regardless.
- 39:18Speaker 7: You can earn up to two point five million if
- 39:22Speaker 7: you hit these metrics. So if your show does two million,
- 39:25Speaker 7: downloads a month, and you do X, Y and Z,
- 39:28Speaker 7: and you put three episodes out a week. Now that's
- 39:32Speaker 7: gonna help your numbers. And now you can actually earn
- 39:34Speaker 7: up to this amount. Now, what I think is going
- 39:37Speaker 7: on is because I don't have personal information on this,
- 39:41Speaker 7: but I have a strong suspicion that there are three
- 39:44Speaker 7: sixty deals being offered.
- 39:46Speaker 5: Think they eat off any content that's being made.
- 39:48Speaker 6: Or your merch.
- 39:49Speaker 7: I need, I need a march too, I need to tour,
- 39:53Speaker 7: I need. This just depends, right, So I just feel like, you.
- 39:58Speaker 5: Know, five million dollars merch everything all in, is that
- 40:02Speaker 5: a bad deal?
- 40:02Speaker 9: It depends on who the show is.
- 40:04Speaker 5: So if you're doing ten million, is that a bad
- 40:06Speaker 5: deal for any show? It depends on who to show?
- 40:08Speaker 5: Let's give a top.
- 40:09Speaker 9: Here's why I say it depends on the show.
- 40:11Speaker 6: Right.
- 40:12Speaker 4: If somebody is doing ten million, let's say twenty million
- 40:15Speaker 4: listens a month, right, and you signed that five million
- 40:18Speaker 4: minimum guarantee and that might be over two years, Let's
- 40:21Speaker 4: say it just for one. If you look at who
- 40:23Speaker 4: they're selling it the ads too, they're not selling it
- 40:26Speaker 4: to the pizza shop on the corner, right, They're selling
- 40:29Speaker 4: it to Fortune five hundred big time, right, And so
- 40:33Speaker 4: if you look at it, if you break down and
- 40:36Speaker 4: we're shot saying, if you put out three episodes a month,
- 40:38Speaker 4: you know how this structured week a week?
- 40:40Speaker 9: I'm sorry.
- 40:41Speaker 4: When they look at it, they're saying, all right, well,
- 40:43Speaker 4: how many ads can we place per episode? Let's look
- 40:45Speaker 4: at the ninety sixty minute clip or your episode. They're
- 40:49Speaker 4: gonna put eight ads on it. Right, So you do
- 40:52Speaker 4: that three times a week, that's twenty four ads. You
- 40:55Speaker 4: do that every month, that's ninety six. You do that
- 40:58Speaker 4: for a year, you're doing over a thousand and spots.
- 41:00Speaker 4: Now you take the five million, and you're like, wait,
- 41:03Speaker 4: hold on, how much they really sew them for? Because
- 41:05Speaker 4: I can go directly to corporate. Let's say, let's use
- 41:08Speaker 4: Coca Cola in Atlanta, and Coca Cola say, you guys
- 41:10Speaker 4: are doing ten men a month, we'll give you fifty
- 41:14Speaker 4: thousand an episode.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Will they do that?
- 41:16Speaker 6: Well? The hard the hardest thing to do now, now
- 41:18Speaker 6: is it a good deal. The hardest thing to do
- 41:20Speaker 6: is get because hold, let me.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Just finish it, because that's just one right, that's just coke.
- 41:24Speaker 9: Right. But what if I go to the chase and
- 41:26Speaker 9: they tell me fifty, right, so now you're making it.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Yeah, you see what I'm saying, and I do that,
- 41:30Speaker 5: But do you think that's available? Having souted perhaps so.
- 41:38Speaker 7: In the term in terms for the yes, it probably
- 41:41Speaker 7: is a good deal because mos people aren't gonna make
- 41:43Speaker 7: five million dollars, right, So yes, that's probably is beneficial
- 41:46Speaker 7: for most people to sign an ideal like that just
- 41:49Speaker 7: from a pure financial stan right. The hardest thing to
- 41:53Speaker 7: do is to get close enough to be next to
- 41:56Speaker 7: that situation, to know what the budget is to have
- 42:00Speaker 7: that relationship.
- 42:01Speaker 5: What though I saw Wallow contract, I saw that.
- 42:05Speaker 9: Congrats to them.
- 42:07Speaker 5: I saw that now that I'm saying now that y'all
- 42:09Speaker 5: saying that we did reps next summit, but I didn't
- 42:12Speaker 5: see the contract. I saw the number, though, but I
- 42:16Speaker 5: didn't see the details in regards to because now that
- 42:20Speaker 5: you're saying that, I'm looking at I'm saying, damn, what
- 42:24Speaker 5: is the space offering for this?
- 42:25Speaker 7: And that's the thing, And that's the part, and that's
- 42:28Speaker 7: the part that it comes with maturity, right, And I
- 42:30Speaker 7: guess some people probably got mad when I said this before,
- 42:34Speaker 7: but it's not about an individual ego.
- 42:36Speaker 6: Everybody has to be more informed so we can all
- 42:39Speaker 6: make more money.
- 42:40Speaker 5: What information do we need? Here's so it's like anybody
- 42:44Speaker 5: in the space making money. You need white, black, and you.
- 42:46Speaker 6: Need information and relationships. So it's like X Y and
- 42:50Speaker 6: Z company.
- 42:51Speaker 5: But okay, let's talk about this before you go there.
- 42:54Speaker 5: Five million dollars of a year. Now, you talked about
- 42:57Speaker 5: the ad side of it, which I think this is
- 42:59Speaker 5: going to get good. You talked about the ads side
- 43:02Speaker 5: of it, which I think is a beautiful thing.
- 43:04Speaker 6: Right.
- 43:05Speaker 5: That is not necessarily relationship based. That's viewership based, but
- 43:09Speaker 5: it's also equality or value based. But hold on, here's
- 43:12Speaker 5: the key. What about on the other side is the
- 43:16Speaker 5: access to all of the guests. That's going to keep
- 43:18Speaker 5: that number there, because if you don't have the access
- 43:21Speaker 5: to those guests, then maybe that number drops down.
- 43:24Speaker 9: I'm glad.
- 43:26Speaker 7: Well, let me just say some question because this is
- 43:29Speaker 7: the first part. Is you said something you said that's
- 43:31Speaker 7: not relationship based. It actually is relationship based.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Because Coca Cola to to I think they hardcore numbers.
- 43:39Speaker 10: I think they'll see some.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Numbers and say, listen, radio.
- 43:42Speaker 7: I'm explaining to you. Watch relationship base. So you go
- 43:45Speaker 7: to X Y and Z company. Right, it's always a middleman, whether.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Of course not. I'm not saying, you know, it's a.
- 43:53Speaker 7: Podcast company or it's an advertising agency, right, And they say, okay,
- 44:00Speaker 7: will give you thirty thousand dollars an episode from Coca
- 44:05Speaker 7: Cola for fifty weeks, thinking that's that's good money, right,
- 44:10Speaker 7: and it is good money. Very rarely are you in
- 44:13Speaker 7: a position to do a deal directly with Coca.
- 44:15Speaker 10: Cola, that's what he's saying.
- 44:17Speaker 6: But that's relationships, right.
- 44:19Speaker 7: So now it's like that thirty thousand dollars an episode
- 44:22Speaker 7: could have potentially be one hundred thousand dollars.
- 44:24Speaker 5: Now without the access bo they got bricks in calling
- 44:28Speaker 5: for teen I can't get out there.
- 44:31Speaker 6: No, So you ever watched the movie below?
- 44:34Speaker 7: Yeah, so what what made Boston George different from every
- 44:40Speaker 7: other hustler?
- 44:41Speaker 6: That was he went and got it.
- 44:43Speaker 5: He had a relationship, but he got the Yeah, so
- 44:47Speaker 5: they don't get access to this.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Did you get access to the connect that twenty mins?
- 44:52Speaker 7: Ll tell you this is the part that even now
- 44:56Speaker 7: like this is the journey that we're on getting to
- 44:58Speaker 7: the connect. And we've been able to make some placeships
- 45:00Speaker 7: to get to the connect. But that's the part that
- 45:05Speaker 7: we still as a podcast space for black people. We're
- 45:07Speaker 7: still immature enough to not even fully appreciate that. We
- 45:10Speaker 7: don't even trying to get to the connect but don't.
- 45:16Speaker 4: But if you study the game, like you've watched. When
- 45:18Speaker 4: I talk to people and they say, well, what was
- 45:20Speaker 4: the structure? What made you do?
- 45:21Speaker 5: I'm like, I watched Bill Simmons sell his network. This
- 45:25Speaker 5: is the rewatch Bill.
- 45:26Speaker 4: Yeah, most people don't even know who Bill Simmons is.
- 45:30Speaker 4: Watched him build a network. We didn't even listen to
- 45:33Speaker 4: any shows, but we watched this get sold for two
- 45:35Speaker 4: hundred million.
- 45:35Speaker 5: Yes, right, didn't even touch us.
- 45:38Speaker 9: We didn't even think about it.
- 45:39Speaker 6: Nobody.
- 45:40Speaker 9: This guy is a colony.
- 45:41Speaker 4: He's one of the best comments in the history right
- 45:43Speaker 4: wrote for the Boston Globe.
- 45:45Speaker 9: But he created something. You had the value, but he
- 45:48Speaker 9: had to connect.
- 45:49Speaker 4: Now the other part that you said, the other part
- 45:52Speaker 4: that you said, well that they give you access to guests,
- 45:57Speaker 4: but you know and we know that when you go there,
- 45:59Speaker 4: there's no access to guess.
- 46:01Speaker 5: It may not be in this world, but if you operate,
- 46:04Speaker 5: Let's say I do it. Let's say I have red Bull,
- 46:07Speaker 5: Let's say I do some sort of shit with Red Bull,
- 46:11Speaker 5: or let's even go better, let's say that it's up
- 46:14Speaker 5: there podcast Black Effect do a partnership with Rolling Loud
- 46:20Speaker 5: to where I do a live podcast at every roll
- 46:23Speaker 5: in Loud, right, access to those guests, meaning as they
- 46:25Speaker 5: come on, stay, whatever's happening, this is a real we
- 46:28Speaker 5: kick some real game, as they this is high level shit.
- 46:32Speaker 5: I won't have access to that without Rolling.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Out Joe putting that together in that in that scenario
- 46:39Speaker 4: of access, are you a partner or are you telling again?
- 46:42Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So again that's us still doing.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Maybe we may be dealing with misrepresentation in some ways, right,
- 46:53Speaker 5: we may be saying I got to connect, but I
- 46:56Speaker 5: got I might not got to connect that y'all looking for.
- 46:59Speaker 6: But look, look it's interesting Cam and Mason.
- 47:01Speaker 7: I'll be interested to know their deal because they kind
- 47:04Speaker 7: of they kind of straight to the forcet where their
- 47:08Speaker 7: ads on their show are only for that gambling company.
- 47:11Speaker 6: I forgot what it's called. It's a gambling company, right.
- 47:14Speaker 7: So they they work the deal out directly with them,
- 47:17Speaker 7: where most most companies it's like I'm a worker advertising
- 47:21Speaker 7: deal out for you and then you're gonna be doing
- 47:24Speaker 7: Mountain deal, you're gonna be doing.
- 47:25Speaker 5: Right because that's the relationship base, and they keep that
- 47:29Speaker 5: doors locked on that. When we deal with gambling, that
- 47:32Speaker 5: industry is booming if you pay attention to the game.
- 47:34Speaker 5: They have attached theirself the live streaming in a way
- 47:37Speaker 5: that is I can't even fathom.
- 47:39Speaker 7: They're passing out money hand on the exactly. So it's
- 47:43Speaker 7: but so there's different levels. It's like a video game, right,
- 47:45Speaker 7: It's like Mario Brothers, Like you get to one level, but.
- 47:48Speaker 6: That's not the highest.
- 47:49Speaker 7: Right, So all right, these are the different levels to
- 47:52Speaker 7: the situation as a black creator.
- 47:56Speaker 6: Right.
- 47:56Speaker 7: The first level that you you have to go through
- 47:58Speaker 7: as an advertising agent or a podcast network. Right, let's
- 48:02Speaker 7: say that you're able to eliminate that and you're able
- 48:04Speaker 7: to go directly to the source.
- 48:06Speaker 6: Now get somebody at Microsoft.
- 48:08Speaker 7: Right now, you've reached the level that ninety five percent
- 48:12Speaker 7: of people haven't reached. So now you can have direct communication.
- 48:15Speaker 7: But guess what, that's not the level because.
- 48:18Speaker 10: Even direct communication ain't.
- 48:20Speaker 7: Because what they have for black people is a thing
- 48:22Speaker 7: called the Diversity and Inclusion program. Right, So now that
- 48:25Speaker 7: you're going to talk to a black woman who's going
- 48:28Speaker 7: to tell you a budget. Microsoft's budget might be I'm
- 48:31Speaker 7: just using them. To any company, their budget might be
- 48:33Speaker 7: one hundred million dollars and they have five million for
- 48:37Speaker 7: black creatives, black initiatives, black voices. So now you fighting
- 48:42Speaker 7: for a budget five million dollars spread out throughout every
- 48:45Speaker 7: single podcast. So now you're trying and get fifty thousand,
- 48:48Speaker 7: one hundred thousand and twenty five thousand. How do you
- 48:51Speaker 7: get to the highest level and talk to the dude
- 48:54Speaker 7: that's really in position, that's controlling the whole budget?
- 48:58Speaker 6: Right?
- 48:58Speaker 10: Yeah, get that, That's what I'm saying.
- 49:01Speaker 6: But that's all relationships, that's all relationships.
- 49:03Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what I'm telling you.
- 49:05Speaker 5: So, and I'm saying that in black podcasting, we don't
- 49:08Speaker 5: I don't need Do you think I would?
- 49:10Speaker 3: Who has those?
- 49:11Speaker 7: Nobody has reached that level yet, I don't think. That's
- 49:14Speaker 7: what I don't think. So you would have to go.
- 49:16Speaker 5: Through like a Maverick Carter type right yere. It's like
- 49:22Speaker 5: you know, now, they can plug you right with some
- 49:25Speaker 5: and a.
- 49:25Speaker 7: Situation where spring Hill is talking directly to it or
- 49:29Speaker 7: even a revolt probably have relationships where they talking directly
- 49:33Speaker 7: to it. They still might be in Pocket of Black
- 49:36Speaker 7: initiative program with Baby.
- 49:38Speaker 9: Perfect like Junior bridgmane perfect example.
- 49:42Speaker 4: We're sitting down at investments and we're talking about, you know,
- 49:45Speaker 4: how that we can scale this, and I've given him
- 49:48Speaker 4: a couple of companies that I think would be perfect fits.
- 49:51Speaker 4: I'll call it to Yo tomorrow. Direct access because he
- 49:55Speaker 4: has a direct ass and.
- 49:56Speaker 5: That's the thing. But how do we get the spending
- 49:59Speaker 5: dollar access? That's what he's talking. I think the access
- 50:02Speaker 5: to the spending dollar of the company. I think, not
- 50:05Speaker 5: just the marketing person or the A and all. And
- 50:10Speaker 5: that's why spending person, the person that says were putting
- 50:13Speaker 5: money in black, because that's and that's why I don't
- 50:16Speaker 5: let them. That's why I'm gonna start using culture instead
- 50:19Speaker 5: of street. And the people following me just got to
- 50:21Speaker 5: know that because I don't need them to pigeonhole me
- 50:25Speaker 5: in anything outside of information and business man. And it
- 50:29Speaker 5: can come off a way because I look just like
- 50:31Speaker 5: those guys, but I talk a little different as long
- 50:34Speaker 5: as I can keep delivering our VII.
- 50:36Speaker 3: But here's here's what I'm saying.
- 50:38Speaker 5: I think that our culture is doing They still doing
- 50:43Speaker 5: magic tricks on each other it's like who, okay, who
- 50:47Speaker 5: has that kind of relationship with a brand that can
- 50:50Speaker 5: direct dollars to black pops.
- 50:52Speaker 6: And that's what I and this is what I told.
- 50:54Speaker 7: I told one of my friends this before like even
- 50:56Speaker 7: a social media or like the financial literacy world, like.
- 51:00Speaker 10: There's a lot of black initiatives.
- 51:03Speaker 7: Well, we've done as far as when I say we
- 51:05Speaker 7: as a collector, for the most part, right is hustling
- 51:08Speaker 7: on the corner. You make money hustling on the corner,
- 51:12Speaker 7: and you could become hood rich, but you're never gonna
- 51:14Speaker 7: become wealthy. Pablo Esketball had never seen a corner. He
- 51:19Speaker 7: never saw Brooklyn. He never went to the Bronx, He
- 51:21Speaker 7: never went to your neighborhood. He never went to Little Haiti,
- 51:24Speaker 7: he never even went to America period. Billionaire, Like, you
- 51:27Speaker 7: know what I'm saying, But you got to have enough
- 51:29Speaker 7: vision to even know that there's a level. Most people
- 51:32Speaker 7: are gonna get satisfied on the corner, right, and they're
- 51:35Speaker 7: gonna drive a nice car, They're gonna have somewhere to live,
- 51:37Speaker 7: and that's sustainable for them, right, And now you end
- 51:41Speaker 7: up fighting with the other person on the next corner,
- 51:44Speaker 7: and there's just the infighting amongst each other. Nobody's ever
- 51:47Speaker 7: able to scale. The only way that we can scale,
- 51:50Speaker 7: going back to invest vest with Diddy is collective.
- 51:54Speaker 9: And you know what, that's why the sharing is important, right.
- 51:57Speaker 5: And also with the street thing, the reason why I
- 51:59Speaker 5: have to shd that skin, I've got too far now, right.
- 52:03Speaker 5: That was for y'all to know you can make it
- 52:05Speaker 5: up to that point.
- 52:06Speaker 10: Now y'all just got to keep up.
- 52:08Speaker 5: This is bigger than that.
- 52:10Speaker 4: That So what you're speaking about is what we see
- 52:12Speaker 4: in music. But it's not accepting, right, And that's growth right,
- 52:16Speaker 4: And see.
- 52:16Speaker 5: For me, they got accepted. I'm pushing the game on
- 52:19Speaker 5: the put you up again.
- 52:21Speaker 4: As soon as we see our artists actually have growth
- 52:24Speaker 4: inside of themselves as a person inside of the music.
- 52:27Speaker 9: We don't want to listen.
- 52:28Speaker 5: It's like we watched Jesus.
- 52:29Speaker 4: We want we just watched a snowman graduate to somebody
- 52:32Speaker 4: who's talking about financial literacy and buying real estate. Yeah,
- 52:35Speaker 4: but nobody's listening to it the same way, right, that's fact.
- 52:38Speaker 5: But here's another reason why I want to stay away
- 52:40Speaker 5: from that street thing. And I think you got the
- 52:42Speaker 5: right y'all found he ooh, this is good. Y'all figured
- 52:45Speaker 5: it out and this is what I've been able to
- 52:48Speaker 5: do too. But I haven't got as. I haven't spread
- 52:52Speaker 5: my wings as much as y'all have. Right, is that
- 52:55Speaker 5: even when Coach k shout out to my brother Coach,
- 52:58Speaker 5: even when he talked to Mike.
- 52:59Speaker 4: About This episode is brought to you by P and

- 54:51Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 54:54Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 54:58Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 55:03Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 55:07Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 55:10Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United States
- 55:14Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 55:19Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 55:22Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 55:26Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fine nearly
- 55:30Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned and deported, you will
- 55:34Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 55:37Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 55:46Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 55:51Speaker 5: About my podcast, he said, Nah, he talked at business
- 55:55Speaker 5: shit though, like we talking coach k QCP when they introduced.
- 55:59Speaker 3: Me as a podcaster.
- 56:01Speaker 5: It ain't just like yo, bro be on some entertainment
- 56:04Speaker 5: shit on some like you know, they gossip, be bulls.
- 56:07Speaker 5: They be saying, now loan be on some business and
- 56:10Speaker 5: they doing business at one of the highest levels in
- 56:12Speaker 5: this industry. But another reason why I gotta share their
- 56:15Speaker 5: skin is because I have to be a part of
- 56:17Speaker 5: those initiative based programs to get off the corner and
- 56:21Speaker 5: the missing shit is inside is on the corner.
- 56:24Speaker 6: It's the thinnest light strategy.
- 56:26Speaker 7: This is something that is vitally important for black people
- 56:29Speaker 7: to understand, but especially black people in the media. The
- 56:32Speaker 7: thinnest light strategy. We have an interesting dynamic that know
- 56:35Speaker 7: other group of people have to deal with. As a
- 56:38Speaker 7: black person, you have to be culturally relevant enough and
- 56:44Speaker 7: edgy enough for people to not call you corny. Once
- 56:47Speaker 7: they call you corny, you and the Russell Wilson bucket,
- 56:49Speaker 7: and you're going to go with. But you also have
- 56:52Speaker 7: to be safe enough so that corporate it feels comfortable.
- 56:57Speaker 7: You can go on NBC, you can. And I think
- 56:59Speaker 7: that's what we've been able to do, right. We've been
- 57:01Speaker 7: coachally relevant enough to be accepted in any neighborhood in
- 57:05Speaker 7: America like these is our guys, the barbershop conversation. Now
- 57:09Speaker 7: they cool dudes, But we also are straight enough to
- 57:15Speaker 7: you see us on Bloomberg. It's not that big of ada.
- 57:17Speaker 5: It's not surprised by that, right, And that's what I
- 57:19Speaker 5: gotta make sure to keep implementing in my game because
- 57:24Speaker 5: I think I've got big enough now that other podcast
- 57:27Speaker 5: is probably understand we might can't stomp him out. He's
- 57:29Speaker 5: good at this. He may be all right, like he
- 57:31Speaker 5: gonna swim to the bank, even if we blow the
- 57:34Speaker 5: boat up home or he gonna swim to the bank, right,
- 57:37Speaker 5: And I think that they'll try to trick me into
- 57:42Speaker 5: being on the corner like that. And I gotta be
- 57:45Speaker 5: conscious of saying no, no, no, no. This is business
- 57:48Speaker 5: at the end of the day. Brother, And so even
- 57:50Speaker 5: when I talk to you, it's gonna be about business.
- 57:53Speaker 5: And I ain't gonna say your name, but I'm gonna
- 57:55Speaker 5: talk to you. And you know I'm talking to you
- 57:57Speaker 5: because you know the level of business I'm talking about.
- 57:59Speaker 5: Even and if the people under you, besides you, next
- 58:02Speaker 5: to you, in your ear, on your phone, if they
- 58:05Speaker 5: don't know you, will not know what's going on, you
- 58:09Speaker 5: know what I mean.
- 58:09Speaker 9: Let's talk about this, right.
- 58:10Speaker 4: So you started as independent, but you are now with
- 58:13Speaker 4: black effect and shout out to the whole black hearth.
- 58:17Speaker 9: All all over there. Love, What made you.
- 58:19Speaker 4: Decide this is the time, this is the partner I
- 58:23Speaker 4: should be with.
- 58:24Speaker 5: Charlemagne has a proven track record, right, I've seen people
- 58:29Speaker 5: I've seen no whe we go through Charlomagne, I've seen you.
- 58:32Speaker 10: Guys partnering with eighty five Part of one.
- 58:34Speaker 5: There's not another podcast network that I know of, especially
- 58:38Speaker 5: black really, anyone that has that kind of history in
- 58:42Speaker 5: developing and help developing, right because we all know we
- 58:46Speaker 5: got to work on our own. But they're they're like
- 58:49Speaker 5: literally in position where if you do a little something,
- 58:51Speaker 5: we do a little something and it looks good, you
- 58:54Speaker 5: know what I'm saying.
- 58:55Speaker 3: And I think that that's how.
- 58:56Speaker 10: Business is ran. One hand wants the other. Both watched
- 58:59Speaker 10: the face.
- 59:00Speaker 5: But I've also learned about this business from my side
- 59:04Speaker 5: because I didn't sell my show. I come into this
- 59:07Speaker 5: and I'm doing business as partners. Is that I gotta
- 59:11Speaker 5: focus on making my shots. Charlemagne has been somebody that
- 59:15Speaker 5: said Loan gonna be.
- 59:16Speaker 10: A big in this game.
- 59:18Speaker 5: Like everybody we ran across the Tavio at Revote, He's
- 59:21Speaker 5: say that anybody that's bumped into me on this level, say, yo, podcasting,
- 59:26Speaker 5: if it died out, he gonna be all right, you know,
- 59:29Speaker 5: And I think the spirit of him manifested in me right. Well,
- 59:35Speaker 5: I can feel that he feels that way, right and
- 59:38Speaker 5: I think with that it keeps me even like digging,
- 59:42Speaker 5: you know, but I'm a dig anyway. But he's somebody
- 59:45Speaker 5: I've watched and looked up to. But I've also know
- 59:48Speaker 5: this A past ain't an assist without a made shot.
- 59:53Speaker 5: And so the only reason Charlemagne is in a position
- 59:57Speaker 5: to say he got assists is because the people he's
- 59:59Speaker 5: been passing it to has made the shots. There's been
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: people he passed it to that may didn't make the
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: shot that they can't call that assist. They call it
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: a pass if one thing the boy gonna do is
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: pass it, but all of those won't manifesting to assist
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: unless you make the shot. And like we just was
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: talking about it regards to guests understanding as CPMs bringing
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: shit to the table, like with live events sponsorships, I
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: do that shit on my own. That's value that I
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: possess because I understand the market and I'm just trying
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: to make my shots. Bro.
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel like, you know, partnerships is something that's
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: extremely beneficial in helping us show grow a brand grow really,
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: and that's something that we've done, whether it's with Charlemagne
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: Black Effect, when we're with them to help my heart,
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: the situation that helped. You know, you're getting airplay going
- 1:00:48Speaker 7: on the breakfast club like, it doesn't hurt, it helps.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: And then Charlemagne is Charlemagne and he step it like
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: he's fabuloused bro In all markets, there's not a market
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: that he can't pop up in hisself and do something.
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: You know. So revolt that's another situation.
- 1:01:06Speaker 7: Revolt that helps, right, from a variety of different standpoints
- 1:01:10Speaker 7: of we meet people that we might interview and as overliabilities.
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: Now that's a relationship Ari Fletcher. Now we can come
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: she come to invest best because we met her through
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: that channel, right.
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: And Revote Believe Revote has y'all in a unique situation
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: where we can tell that. Again, the way I look
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: at Charlemagne and how he feels about what I'm doing
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: is like the companies invested in this EYL show, they
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: got going.
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: And it's something that you might not did.
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: He doesn't happen if the Revolt thing doesn't happen, right,
- 1:01:39Speaker 7: So this is something that we didn't plan for that
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: to happen. But this is this is what happens when
- 1:01:43Speaker 7: you have an organic, real working relationship over the course
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: of three years. Now the benefits and that did he
- 1:01:49Speaker 7: thing benefited a lot of people in the ecosystem that
- 1:01:53Speaker 7: have nothing nothing to do with revolt, right, Like you
- 1:01:55Speaker 7: know what I'm saying.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: He should he might didn't even really want to talk.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Then all that de Leon shit going on, like that's
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: a unique time. But then my guys and I know
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: they again when Roadway Manager reached out to me, and
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: this is why I'm trying to tell people about my brand.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Don't let these folk confuse you. Roadway Manager ridged out
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: to me. He said, Bro, don't even like doing podcasts,
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: but the shit you talking about, I gotta get bro
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: on now. And so that's what I'm saying about value
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: in the space. Did it view y'all and know, hey,
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: it's something with that financial thing they're doing. This is
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: bigger than he wouldn't have came had that been a podcast,
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: any interview it could have been. It could have been
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: any interview. He wouldn't have came. It was for black
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: folk financial. So I gotta show up.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: I can't.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: I can't bel out, you.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Know what I'm saying. And so when you when you
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: look at.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: That, you say, it's principle involved, and people gotta look
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: at your brand and see principal next to your your
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: mission statement.
- 1:02:54Speaker 10: And if it ain't that, they'll get you out there.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: On the corner like you said, and you'll be hustling
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: and all get in fight.
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: And then also another thing that Ross said is like,
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: like I said, we got a bunch of relationships.
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: You're not to mass all these people.
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: Ross says something one time where he was like, He's like,
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: people looks on rap snacks. She's like, if you're not
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: promoting your brand every day, I don't want to work
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: with you. You gotta promote a lot of times people
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: was like, all right, you know, I'm just gonna get
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: a bag from this. It's a selfish standpoint. I don't
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: really got no love for these people. I'm gonna get
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: their check. Like I'll promote stuff for free because I
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: understand the value and I'm helping you. It's the lord
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: of reciprocity, like you know what I'm saying, Like it's not
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: always about oh, you gotta pay me to do this.
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: You gotta pay me to do this.
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: And that's what I don't like either, Like with Baby
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: and now you know, Baby gave me to roll out
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: of the interview when he came out with it's only
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: me like out of nowhere. Yo, whatever they do, man,
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: it's nothing seeing them got the the medion clothed and
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: brand Yo, shoot that to the city, put it in
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: the store. I got a dude, got stole like you know,
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: I'm you know, you gotta do something to get something.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: That's how this gave me a It's like people don't
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: understand that though a lot of people don't.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: Understand what this is an interesting dynamic, right, because what
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: you're talking about with Diddy, the reason that he's able
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: to do is because the platform has been created that
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: he felt that was responsible enough to do it on.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: A couple of things come with that, right, If he
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: does it, it also puts the rest of the community.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: I'll notice that if you're about business and you're out
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: about uplifting our community, why aren't you here exactly? So
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: I want to talk to you because you've gone from
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: being a spectator to not being the general right you're
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: coaching against and becoming a platform where people can come to.
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: How's that dynamic now for you? Right?
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: Because it was a solo thing and now it's I
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: got some guests and people.
- 1:04:40Speaker 9: I got to get him on there, I got it. Yeah,
- 1:04:42Speaker 9: but it's not everybody can't make it.
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: No, no, no. What I think is for me, it's
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: a blessing for me. I'm honored because a lot of
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: these guys, I feel like I want to give some
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: game too, and I want to hear the story. I
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: want to learn from them what's going on. I think
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: that the conversation we have it always lends itself to
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: direction for these young boys. Like when they sit with me, man,
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: they just get game. It's like I'm oozing shit for him.
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: Like you know what I'm saying. They appreciate it, bro,
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: Like no matter.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: If Backstad, wherever we a is.
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: Just they appreciate the game I give.
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: And I couldn't be more happier to be someone that's
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: a general for the culture. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: Because these guys athletes. You've seen athletes on My Shit
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: Rappers you gonna see, You've seen CIA guys, You've seen
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: a list of different individuals on the show. Because I'm
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: able to go in these different rooms and bring stuff
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: out of them, and I think that's a skill set
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: a lot of people can't position themselves with two It's like, yo,
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: you can't talk to Diddy and Robert Smith and get
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: something from them. You know what I'm saying. You gotta
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: be able to extract things. After this guy been talked
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: to for twenty three thousand times, now he come to
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: sit with me and it's still a fire conversation, you know.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: And so I just think I live in a very
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: unique room with this conversation thing. It's like it's something Now.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: That's why I gotta figure out why it works, because
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: it's it's not structured. It's just me. I'm just being
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: me and it's working. But it's like you got to
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: put some kind of structure with it so that you
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: know what you're doing when it's time to do it.
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: Are there too many podcasters?
- 1:06:19Speaker 9: Yeah, too many many podcasters.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a lot of I call them too be
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: podcasts to be, it's a lot of tooby podcasts. They
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: don't even know the space is doing and they're just
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: not cranking off and they're shooting at everybody. It's a
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: lot going on.
- 1:06:32Speaker 10: It's just saying, Yo, that's not podcast. They've treatd you guys. Listen.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: If you're gonna follow people, follow the guys that actually
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: have done it without the built in fan base, especially
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: if you come in without a built in fan base.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: What kind of.
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: Logic are you guys using following rappers that come in
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: with rap fan base saying you're the podcast.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: I'm gonna build my shit off of you.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Dig what I'm I'm saying common sense? Now, disrespect common sense.
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: Build this thing. We've been able to build this in
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: a very unique way. This is where your eyes need
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: to be at in regards to structure. Do you listen
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: to podcasts? I listen to what needs to be listened to.
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: I used to listen to everything, but everything is too much.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: Now they've smeared this thing. It's no longer even information
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: anyway in this shit except in little crevices and corners
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: of black podcasts, and everything else is bullshit noise, And
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: so I dip my hand in the noise sometime. Fuck
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: you know, no no, and I come on back over
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: here to the business. But they've turned it into something
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: that's unattractive even for me, because I can't distinguish what's happening.
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: I'm always trying to get over here and say I
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: ain't no business.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: What y'all know? How aiden Ross?
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Okay, here's something I said, black people will twitching academics.
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: Happened to be in one of the first Twitch people streamers.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: I was confused, how Aiden Ross and them come after him?
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: And then sure the business side of this, this to
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: me says.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: We gotta do something like we had that first.
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: We had the audience, we had the structure, we had
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: that first.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: This ain't hate. This is saying opportunity missed. Yo.
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: People following you, so they getting on, they twitch and
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: they getting thousands of people and it ain't no business
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: around it because you ain't done. It's like right, so
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: if they watch me like Giling Wallow, they stopping with
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: them ass and they're distinguishing in the market, Yoda everything.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: It's well getting paid.
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: And then if you not doing it that way, you
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: better figure out how a E Wyl getting paid? How
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: long get you got to do it? How the people
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: getting paid? You're following people that ain't even getting paid
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: for doing what they're doing. They're just getting paid for
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: holding that position. That's why they gonna open the door.
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: Because I don't have no value outside of state being
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: in this position. If I get up out of this
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: position and stand over there, there's nothing else with me
- 1:09:00Speaker 5: and this ain't to no particular person, because.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: This is business.
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: I'm talking to the market, right, This ain't about no
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: particular person, even though they gonna say it is. I'm
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: telling you this is market talk right. When people come
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: behind you, they gonna say, I'm gonna do it like
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: such and such doing it, But they don't know the
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: whole time they've been talking doing that for four years
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: and ain't made nothing doing that, And then if they
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: did make something, it ain't a re up thing. I
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: need to follow the niggas that's ringing up they deals,
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: not getting a deal. It's like getting some money and
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: keeping some money. These are different techniques. I need to
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: follow the guys that's keeping the deals, that's making the relationships,
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: that's building the brands, not the guys that ope, you
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: got a deal.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: Follow him.
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: Yeah, that's my thing.
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: And most of the people, like going back to the monetization thing,
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: most people are not gonna be able to monetize awful.
- 1:09:51Speaker 6: Ads so like to really like live efficiently.
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: So it's like, why do you think that it's just
- 1:09:58Speaker 7: not enough money in it?
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: And I feel like what I'm saying ads transition to
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: like super Bowl, it's a lot of money and ads.
- 1:10:06Speaker 7: Now, most people are not going to get a lot
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: of money the audience, but you can't make money. So
- 1:10:13Speaker 7: I feel like ads should always be a add on,
- 1:10:19Speaker 7: but you got to be creative to find ways to
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: make money.
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: Outside of that. That comes with creativity.
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: That can come with merch that can come with live shows,
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: that can yeah, the Patreon, that can come from a
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: service subscription based model. You know, if you got an
- 1:10:34Speaker 7: app or whatever you got, you know going on, that's
- 1:10:37Speaker 7: up to you to figure out your own business model
- 1:10:38Speaker 7: what you have to offer. But how can I make
- 1:10:42Speaker 7: money outside of this that I control? Because you can't
- 1:10:46Speaker 7: control ads either. You might have an AD and then
- 1:10:49Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying. So it's like, you got
- 1:10:51Speaker 7: an audience, you got to make sure that you're maximizing
- 1:10:53Speaker 7: that audience. I think a lot of podcasters don't fully
- 1:10:56Speaker 7: understand that.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Either, because again they okay with just the audience. Here's
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: another thing. Getting fame almost cripples you, especially when when
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: you get it too early, right when you're still in
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: the process, because fame and notoriety makes you not do
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: what needs to be done to get to that next level. Right, So,
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: say I need to be out there selling shirts or
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: selling CDs or selling.
- 1:11:20Speaker 10: Something that will help my business. The minute they put
- 1:11:24Speaker 10: me on.
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: Breakfast club, like I can't stand out there, no way, right,
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: So it cripples you. It's like it says, damn, okay,
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: now I'm too big to do that. Well you have
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: to do that to get there.
- 1:11:35Speaker 7: But then also everybody's not a business person too, so
- 1:11:38Speaker 7: most people coming in and they just coming in just from
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: a media standpoint of it. I just want to talk
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: and then I'm gonna lest somebody pay me. It's like
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: an artist, right, Most recording artists just want to rap
- 1:11:47Speaker 7: and then they want to.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: Get paid for rapping.
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: That's why I said, like you signed a deal, it's
- 1:11:52Speaker 7: not a bad deal because you're not a business person.
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: So you need somebody to take care of you and
- 1:11:56Speaker 7: to feed you, and you need somebody to schedule your
- 1:11:58Speaker 7: shows and to make sure you're hair and all that.
- 1:12:00Speaker 7: But we the other way around, Like this is just allowed.
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: Can you compete with five million a year?
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: Can we can people five million a year? We compete
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: with anything?
- 1:12:15Speaker 11: Perhaps, So I'm saying it like it's allowed to It'll
- 1:12:19Speaker 11: take a three year, thirty forty fifty million dollar a
- 1:12:22Speaker 11: year forty million three year forty million dollar joint, I
- 1:12:25Speaker 11: mean three year twenty million dollar joint.
- 1:12:27Speaker 7: So I'm if we get to maintain the ownership of
- 1:12:31Speaker 7: our show.
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: Yeah, why not?
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: Because I think every big podcast is maintaining ownership. Man,
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: are they I don't know. I'm asking you, what's your
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: I deal on that?
- 1:12:40Speaker 9: I don't think they are.
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: Are they serious?
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: I mean we don't know though, right, I mean we don't. Again,
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: we don't know people and aren't sharting the information. And
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: then again people don't know. They see the money, that's
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: the carriage. How do I get it? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: I'll get it.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: How long do I have that likense to show our propetuity?
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: I don't even know what that means. I signed it
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: boom not no big shows.
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: But I'm not saying thank you think so I don't know.
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: Though we don't know.
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: I'm saying.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: What we believe. People that know about.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: Business, we may have heard that, Wow, we may have Wow.
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: There's something they've done.
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: If there's something, shows that I know that don't own
- 1:13:20Speaker 7: the show, but out even signed a big contract they
- 1:13:24Speaker 7: gave they can help the rest of the show.
- 1:13:26Speaker 10: So it's a lot of something big shows in our
- 1:13:28Speaker 10: coach or just.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: Wow, oh god, y'all, let's.
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: Talk off there about it? Is that once again going
- 1:13:38Speaker 6: back to information, right.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: You didn't think they were going out saying.
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: So I'm not going out, You're not going you're starting
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: like that.
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: I'm not one of those people that saying like it's
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: bad to sign because, like I said.
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: It's bad to give away rights if specially if you
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: have some sort of built it Okay, so the people Okay,
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: so people out there in TV land, these companies won't
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: give you any money unless they see some money there.
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: So if they say I want your show, right, they
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: usually only offer those kind of deals to people with
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: the built in fan base like we're talking about. They
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: don't offer those to some Joe blow off the street
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: nine times out of ten. So you're coming with a
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: built in fan base and you don't even have faith
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: in it, but you have faith in them to activate it.
- 1:14:17Speaker 7: Because yeah, because once again they have the relationships they
- 1:14:20Speaker 7: they Pablo right, this is.
- 1:14:21Speaker 9: The easy one. I just take the money. Did y'all
- 1:14:23Speaker 9: take care of that? I'll do this.
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:14:26Speaker 9: They go from owners to talent very quickly.
- 1:14:29Speaker 7: But like I said, signing because Nipsey Hustle doesn't become
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: Nipsey Hustle if he doesn't sign to a major late.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: Now, yeah, you some points. You gotta make a You
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: gotta make it.
- 1:14:37Speaker 7: You gotta make a decision, and you gotta understand it.
- 1:14:40Speaker 7: You can only go so far by yourself.
- 1:14:41Speaker 10: So y'all saying y'all won't sign.
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: We did sign. We signed to our art for two years.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: But I'm saying, if somebody want action on video, action
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: on the whole.
- 1:14:50Speaker 7: Everything is negotiable. Everything is negotiable. I feel like you
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: can't be emotionally a tie to any So y'all.
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: Will take a three sixty invest fits in on we
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: get set on in on it everything.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: If it's enough money, we can sell it. What's enough money?
- 1:15:04Speaker 6: It hassues?
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: Did you have week s marking money?
- 1:15:10Speaker 7: But I mean, but that's real talk though, right Anybody
- 1:15:12Speaker 7: anybody that says otherwise is lying to you.
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: Let's be honest. Somebody come with a check for a
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: billion dollars.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:15:20Speaker 9: What's the valuation of this company? It's three billion? Okay, Well, guys,
- 1:15:24Speaker 9: we've earned our leasure, right, it's been real.
- 1:15:28Speaker 10: What about okay? So what what is an ad worth?
- 1:15:30Speaker 10: What what is the ad.
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: Worth on the show that's getting two million downloads? Like,
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: what what is the gauge? Like, what is what? What's
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: the gauge for a young podcast or anybody watching? What
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: are we dealing with out here? What's the gauge?
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: I think you said it. We were at a show
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: and they were talking about streaming. They're like, well, what's
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: one stream worth? Nobody can give an answer, right, and
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: so what's one download worth? That's a person? But just
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: talking about like standing like where the industry standard. Man,
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: they'll tell you the CPM rate. They'll tell you like
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: it's seventeen fifty, or the average premium the premu is
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: fifty dollars per every thousand. But I didn't believe in that,
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: and so I said, look, we'll create our own market.
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you the number is fifteen thousand
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: an episode. Now you could take that or you could
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: leave it. But here's our numbers. I don't want to
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: we're not doing the CPM thing. Well, most people they're
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: looking at the value that we add. They know that
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: we're going to be consistent.
- 1:16:25Speaker 10: So yah, I don't even.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Do the sea keep going.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: I'm sorry, yeah, yeah, no, so that I stopped. We
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: just stopped doing the CPM and we said, like, this
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: is what we're worth. So if I tell them is fifteen,
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: I will, then let's see if we go up to
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: four million, I will.
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: Now I'm telling you it's twenty five.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: And so I'm going in with it, not with the
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: traditional manner of I'm this is my CPM, and if
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: I hit this number based on that, they naturally get paid.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: This No, because I know when you go to corporate
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: and you're not telling them that, and.
- 1:16:50Speaker 10: That's the game they try to lock young.
- 1:16:52Speaker 6: Of course, the game is this though, because men trust me, and.
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: Let me say this for the onlookers, I play both
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: games right, even with them and Huskies and other brands. Again,
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: I have my own relationships with brands, my Bookie, other
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: brands where I negotiate things on my own, but that
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: they do play that CPM game on the other side.
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: On the on the on the iHeart side is a
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: very CPM driving game.
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: Here's the machine. Here's the thing.
- 1:17:19Speaker 7: Here's the thing with how did you'll There's the thing
- 1:17:22Speaker 7: with life in general, especially when it comes to business.
- 1:17:25Speaker 7: The more math that's required, the higher probability that you're
- 1:17:30Speaker 7: going to get crewed, right.
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: Because this this, this, this is that they do. They
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: do it CPM.
- 1:17:36Speaker 7: Most you won't even know what the CPM is, right,
- 1:17:38Speaker 7: and it's like, all right, if you if you do,
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: if you put it at at the beginning of the episode,
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: that's the most valuable.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: Middle episode. We called mini as the second most valuable,
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: and the first one is pre roll pre roll.
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: Let me just finish, hold on, because I want you
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: to be very clear in terms of money, the midroad
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: is going to be the most valuable, right because the
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: pre roll is only ten seconds. They want your mid
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: road because they know that's going to be sixty seconds.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: They could put two there. Sometimes they'll put four. Now,
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: your audience is going to say, well, there's a lot
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: of ads here. Well, we're trying to it's a business.
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: So the ten second they'll say, all right, Well, if
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: that's the mid road is twenty thousand, they'll say we'll
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: give you eight thousand for a pre roll because it's shorter.
- 1:18:17Speaker 7: Got so, And then it's like all right, so you
- 1:18:20Speaker 7: get paid seventeen fifty per CPM per thousand downloads and seventeen.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: Dollars seventeen thousand and fifty cents per every thousand, per thousand, right,
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: So by the time you get twenty thousand download no, sorry,
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: so so seventeen seventeen fifty.
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: But then it's but then it's a seventy thirty split, right,
- 1:18:42Speaker 7: it's a seventy thirty split, seventy year away, thirty thirty
- 1:18:44Speaker 7: their way, and then it's for every thousand. Right, So
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: if you do one hundred thousand downloads for that episode,
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: how much money did you make?
- 1:18:53Speaker 6: Exactly? So that's the whole point.
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: One thousand dollars.
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: It's confusing me.
- 1:18:58Speaker 7: I never really got passed basic algebra in school, so
- 1:19:03Speaker 7: if I.
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: Gotta use it, calculated too complicated.
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: You needed to be twenty grand episode.
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: Twenty thousand dollars an episode. Yeah, I can do that.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: Y'all see this game, This good.
- 1:19:14Speaker 7: Twenty thousand dollars an episode for a sixty second ad.
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: We can all understand that, right.
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: It's very simple, very simple.
- 1:19:22Speaker 10: A CPM is triggery.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: What you're saying it sounds like more.
- 1:19:26Speaker 9: Here's the other part, right, how do you know how
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: many downloads?
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: Because the machine gonna have to download me there and
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: they're gonna tell you, well, you didn't meet the metric.
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: You could track it too.
- 1:19:35Speaker 10: They got third party ship, but you don't know how
- 1:19:36Speaker 10: to act.
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: Now you gotta get a forensic account.
- 1:19:38Speaker 7: Once again, the more complicated the math, the higher probability
- 1:19:43Speaker 7: you have of getting screwed.
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: They keep it complicated on purpose.
- 1:19:46Speaker 7: Okay, you get a minimum guarantee, but you gotta you
- 1:19:49Speaker 7: gotta hit a million, You gotta hit this.
- 1:19:51Speaker 6: But who's counting these numbers?
- 1:19:53Speaker 7: Well, we have our firm in the back and they're
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: counting these numbers, and then they're gonna give you a
- 1:19:57Speaker 7: report and then they're gonna this.
- 1:19:58Speaker 6: But you don't even know what what happens.
- 1:20:01Speaker 10: Then it strength what's the stream versus down?
- 1:20:03Speaker 9: What happens when you don't hit the minimum guarantee?
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: Then this is a yeah, what happens when you don't
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: hit it? They're trying to recoop get your money. Yeah,
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: we got to recoup this money. And now it's the
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: rap game. But you know you're in the rig in
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: the red money.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: You know, No, we're not paying you that because we
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: got to get the money because the first season you
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: didn't really make that.
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: Well, how we're looking at the message every month, All
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: this is a question mark.
- 1:20:24Speaker 6: Even YouTube.
- 1:20:25Speaker 7: Nobody really knows. It's just YouTube. It's just too big
- 1:20:27Speaker 7: and too powerful where you don't really have an option. Right,
- 1:20:29Speaker 7: it's like what can you do? Nobody knows how much
- 1:20:33Speaker 7: money is actually coming into YouTube, how they're distributing it.
- 1:20:36Speaker 7: Because some ship we might get paid thirty five dollars
- 1:20:38Speaker 7: for some ship we might get paid four dollars for
- 1:20:40Speaker 7: depending on the content, depending on the time of day, depending.
- 1:20:42Speaker 6: On who's who's on it.
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: And then it's constantly changing. Then it can be affected
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: by things outside of our means, and you can wake
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: up tomorrow and it can be up.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: But they so they do RPM when you do the visuals, right,
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: So the CPM is what they're going to pay the brand, right,
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: but they're gonna take their percentagees. So what you get
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: broken down to is the RPM. And so the CPM
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: might be twenty five dollars, right, but by the time
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: you get to you it's fourteen twenty five and that's
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: what you're gonna get paid.
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: It's like, wait, what what happened? Yeah, It's like it's
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: like like like the transaction to your ticket master.
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: So I would I would recommend for any podcast if
- 1:21:16Speaker 7: you're trying to structure your deal with a company, You
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: just say this is what I want to get paid
- 1:21:20Speaker 7: per episode, then negotiate based off of that.
- 1:21:23Speaker 6: Because once you.
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: Get in the CPM game, and once you get in, okay,
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: you got to hit this certain amount of numbers and
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: a certain amount of downloads and dah da da da,
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: and then you're going to be doing forever.
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: That makes sense too, that CPM and kind of make
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: the water blurry. But it's people that swear by the CPM.
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: Game because it's traditional model. This is what they this
- 1:21:40Speaker 7: is what they set as a standard for the industry.
- 1:21:43Speaker 7: But there is no industry standing because we don't know
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: anything that's happened in see industry.
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: I'm playing both games like I'm playing subscription model game.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: I'm playing live show sponsorship ad game.
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:21:54Speaker 6: I was Patreon working out for you.
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: It's doing good. It's because I haven't been as see
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: when I took the deal, I come from behind the
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: paywall and say hold on, I got to focus on
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: get some shit out there, help brand bill while we
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: and it fluctuate kind of went down because you got
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: to be This is one thing I do give Joe
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: credit for you have to be diligent fucking with them
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: paying customers. It's a different relationship, right. See, you have
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: people that have relationship with their customer. All they ever
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: gonna fuck with you is for the free. They don't
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: even fuck with you outside of the free. That's what
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: I'm saying. When you able to pull people behind the curtain,
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: come on back here where it casts you something. You
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: gotta be diligent and feed them there.
- 1:22:37Speaker 9: And they want.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: Just think about this.
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: They paying me twenty five dollars, ten dollars, some people
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: fifty dollar.
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: They give Netflix twelve and they load them down.
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: I'm talking about this some of the best quality of
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: shit that you ever gonna see.
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: But here's the other part of that.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: At some point, there's going to be a comment or
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: there's going to be an email that's gonna come to you,
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: and it's going to be like completely like tearing the
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: company down because you didn't put out an episode one
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: week and in your mind you're like, this is twenty
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: five hours, twenty five hours, and this is what I'm
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: dealing with, and so like we gotta deal with that.
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: Like people don't talk about that side, but that's part
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: of it. They don't even the mental strain of even
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: the comments section. When this shit costs money to run
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: and you ain't a lot.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: Of times it's the free bridge.
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: They do all of that.
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: Another thing too, you know how I said, if it's more,
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: the more math, the higher probably you get screwed in contracts,
- 1:23:36Speaker 7: The more words you don't understand, there's a higher probably that.
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: You get screwed.
- 1:23:40Speaker 7: Everybody knows how to read, right, there's no need to have.
- 1:23:44Speaker 7: If there's more than ten words that you're not familiar with,
- 1:23:46Speaker 7: you're gonna get screwed.
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: I told you Bill about what telling you that it's
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: all about.
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: Language because they're doing this on purpose. It's a magic trick.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: If I could do enough weird shit and put shit,
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: and then it's like if I can make a contract,
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: like Kanye said, a contra that should be one page, yes.
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: And we billion a dude, don't even a billion dollars dud.
- 1:24:05Speaker 9: He wasn't even accept the contracts if they were long.
- 1:24:07Speaker 7: Why do we have contracts for fifty pages? Twenty five pages?
- 1:24:10Speaker 7: You got the best look, something's gonna get lost.
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: Yeah, And why do they do that to Why we
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: do that to it? But I don't even say this
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: just us, it's just business.
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: That's business, because once again it's long.
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: The longer I can draw you out something, I have
- 1:24:21Speaker 7: a higher probability I could just stick something in there.
- 1:24:23Speaker 7: If it's twenty five pages. If it's twenty five pages,
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: it's a high probability that something is.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: Maybe something you overlook.
- 1:24:31Speaker 6: You have the best lawyer.
- 1:24:33Speaker 7: They might they might not be able to read every
- 1:24:35Speaker 7: single thing right, and you're going to So that's another
- 1:24:38Speaker 7: thing for people. Try to make any agreement as easy
- 1:24:41Speaker 7: to understand as possible, and once it starts to become
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: extremely complicated, just be very have the lawyer read it
- 1:24:49Speaker 7: three times and explain to you and interpret it to you,
- 1:24:52Speaker 7: because you're going to there's going to be things in
- 1:24:56Speaker 7: there that you don't you're not familiar with.
- 1:24:58Speaker 6: Or they they'll trick you.
- 1:24:59Speaker 7: They have one shit, it'll be like, okay, you signed
- 1:25:01Speaker 7: it still for five years and then it's like with
- 1:25:03Speaker 7: the reversal of the perpetuity that comes in the fun
- 1:25:07Speaker 7: like they're just reworded.
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: I would you know for me perpetuity ship I send
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: even though it's in the contract, I make sure that that's.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: Like that's what we take that out we take it out.
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: It's the first word we're looking for that cannot that
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: cannot be there. But I also suggest if they're going
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: to sign the people, yes, give it to your lawyer,
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: but you should read it.
- 1:25:33Speaker 9: Yeah, because what.
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: Will happen is you'll come into these meetings and people
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: will be telling you things about your contract that you
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: know for certain or not true, and they run and
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: they'll run it and I know for sure it's not true.
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: Then I got to go back to the lawyer. We
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: got to have a conversation. It's not true. So yes,
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: do your due diligence, give it to your lawyers, but
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: you should read it.
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: And if you don't understand it, that's what you pay
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: a lawyer for.
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: What you have the lawyer because most people have to
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: explain most people, most people are they're not going to
- 1:26:02Speaker 7: read it, or even if they read it, they're not
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: going to have the reading comprehension of fully understanding.
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: You have your lawyer go through it with you, paragraph
- 1:26:09Speaker 6: by paragraph. She reads it or here she reads it.
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: So and then it's like, okay, what's just mind, dude,
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: What's I ain't taking it?
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: I take certain thing, Hey that ain't that ain't cool,
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: and there's certain money. Like the first couple of deals
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: I got was so high. I knew they was trying
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: to get the show cause I'm like, it's no way
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: that this money is just too much money. Right, we
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: ain't even moved yet, but I know people know I'm
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: cold with this ship.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: But this business at the end.
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: Of the day, So I'm saying, damn this kind of
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: money is.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: But yeah, nah, I believe.
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: I believe that you gotta be somebody that understands this space.
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: If you don't get it, bro, is it even a
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: lot of value in signing.
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: For relationships?
- 1:26:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I think that's not You can you can make
- 1:26:53Speaker 7: some money, but I think the biggest thing for us,
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: like anything we saw, the money was always the secondary part.
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: The relationships provided more more opportunities to any money that
- 1:27:01Speaker 7: we are y'all side, Now we signed to ourselves. Are
- 1:27:05Speaker 7: you looking to sign No, we're looking to grow EYO
- 1:27:08Speaker 7: network and looking to sign other shows for that.
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: What minimum guarantees y'all given out working on them? We're
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: working on them. So I'm saying, well, y'all know you
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: know saying right.
- 1:27:19Speaker 9: Well, he was like, I don't need a G pass
- 1:27:22Speaker 9: no more. I'm past that. I'm passing them out now.
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: Right, And that's what I'm saying.
- 1:27:27Speaker 7: But but it's always room to work with other people,
- 1:27:30Speaker 7: Like you know what I'm saying. It's never a situation
- 1:27:32Speaker 7: where you can't. Never get to a point where you
- 1:27:34Speaker 7: feel like you you're too big to work with others.
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: Have the big companies approached y'all, like the bar Stools
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: or the Spotify or the.
- 1:27:41Speaker 7: I mean we had no none of those companies. We
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: had a few conversations when our last deal was up.
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: But why not, though, because I see y'all on business
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: charts all the time, like why why aren't they Why
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: do you think that Spotify talk to that?
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: Why why what I'm saying, I don't mean y'all got
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: the numbers, the relationships. Why do y'all think that no
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: deals have been presented?
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: You know, I feel like the content that we produce
- 1:28:07Speaker 7: is a little different. Right, So it's still it's still
- 1:28:09Speaker 7: a niche. Even though we have been able to have
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: a massive amount of success, it's still a relative niche audience.
- 1:28:15Speaker 7: People still don't fully understand it. You know, Black guys
- 1:28:18Speaker 7: talking about money and podcasting and and and investing it's
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: kind of different. You know, it's easier to kind of
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: just talk about music, talk about you know, pop culture, but.
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: I thought business for me. I'm also saying it ain't
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: business numbers based.
- 1:28:32Speaker 7: It is numbers based. But once again, now you have
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: to go into a situation where this goes back to.
- 1:28:38Speaker 10: It's easier dealing with rappers and rapping.
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: This goes back to the race car.
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: As a corporate person, they're used to dealing with rappers.
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: It's familiar. They're used to dealing with sports, and it's.
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: A hundred years worth trickery involved.
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: They still don't They still they still haven't rapped different.
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: So the numbers can be supporting it, but they still
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: haven't fully even guided themselves there. So if they don't
- 1:28:58Speaker 7: get it themselves, then they're not they're not going.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: To You're still dealing You're not dealing with the highest
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: level execs. You're still dealing with people that were in
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: the corporation that are saying this is value. You should
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: know these guys are. Now they got to prove it
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: to the higher rupts, right, the higher ups got to
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: prove it to the next.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: I don't like how they prove and shit like even
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: if you know how big of an artist baby, and
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: certain niggas is like my relationship be with them like
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: a nigga, Like you know certain people my relationship with
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: them because I ain't gonna allow all their red tape.
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: It'd be pissing me off.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: The key is to always go directly to the sauce.
- 1:29:32Speaker 7: Once again, let's talk about guests too, guess like having
- 1:29:37Speaker 7: guests on the shad or just this directly to the source.
- 1:29:40Speaker 7: That's what we were trying to get ditty for three years,
- 1:29:42Speaker 7: trying to get out of investments last year, and we
- 1:29:44Speaker 7: know all of.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: The people in these and with all revolts.
- 1:29:46Speaker 7: These are the people that's like, you should know the
- 1:29:49Speaker 7: closest people to him, But it didn't happen when we
- 1:29:52Speaker 7: met him, and now we develop the relationship with him.
- 1:29:55Speaker 7: When I hit him directly, it happened within ten seconds.
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: Why is that the You gotta go directly to this
- 1:30:02Speaker 7: because once again you said something that was key. Sometimes
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: people have good intentions, they don't know how to position
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: it to the other person.
- 1:30:09Speaker 10: And their relationship is on the line.
- 1:30:10Speaker 7: It's a game of telephone. So it's like I could
- 1:30:13Speaker 7: me and you got a great relationship right, and I can.
- 1:30:15Speaker 7: Let's say I'm trying to get whoever rapper for you,
- 1:30:18Speaker 7: right and I know them and I'm calling. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:30:20Speaker 7: you know, I got this podcast. I want you to
- 1:30:22Speaker 7: get on Louim. You know he's from Tennessee. I could
- 1:30:25Speaker 7: be explaining I think I'm doing a good job. You
- 1:30:28Speaker 7: hear it, You like, that's actually a terrible job. You
- 1:30:30Speaker 7: didn't sell it good enough, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:30:32Speaker 7: So that's what I think a lot of times happens
- 1:30:34Speaker 7: where it's like you, it gets warded down the different
- 1:30:38Speaker 7: channels that it goes through.
- 1:30:40Speaker 10: They just positioned it.
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: It's a new podcast.
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: Himself has said that because even when we had at
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: a vest fest, when he got there, the time that
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: he was supposed to be on was a little earlier
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: than he had probably wanted to be on. But the
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: message to us was he had to leave. And when
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: we relay the message to him, he said, who told
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: you that. Anytime I'll need something, y'all talk to me directly.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: Nobody else talks to me. Yeah, okay, now we know, right,
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: But had we gone with what has been telling told
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: to us, it would have been a differenition.
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: But here's how you get guests. I want to answer
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: your question. I want to give I want to provide
- 1:31:13Speaker 7: as much game as possible. Here's how you get guests
- 1:31:15Speaker 7: for all the podcasts out there. You get yourself hot
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: enough where people want to come on your show, and
- 1:31:23Speaker 7: then you have to be in every environment where those
- 1:31:25Speaker 7: people are. So the Dame Dash for instance, right, we
- 1:31:28Speaker 7: wanted to get Dame early on, but it didn't make sense.
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: Looking back on it now I understand why he It
- 1:31:33Speaker 7: didn't make sense. We didn't have enough followers. It just
- 1:31:37Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying. But once we got to
- 1:31:39Speaker 7: a point, it's the law of inertia. When you got
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: to get to the point where once you get the
- 1:31:45Speaker 7: ball rolling, every single person is gonna want to rock
- 1:31:48Speaker 7: with you. And then they gonna spread the world and
- 1:31:49Speaker 7: they're gonna tell this person, yeah, you gotta rock with
- 1:31:51Speaker 7: this person. So don't worry about getting the guests, worry
- 1:31:53Speaker 7: about getting hot. Worry about getting hot.
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: That's me. I got more numbers on my phone, then
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: I can even worry about getting hot.
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: And then, like I said, and then you gotta do
- 1:32:00Speaker 6: the art of networking.
- 1:32:01Speaker 7: A lot of people don't like network a lot of
- 1:32:03Speaker 7: people just want to stay home because the sacrifices. You're
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: gonna miss your kids game, you're gonna you're gonna miss dinner,
- 1:32:08Speaker 7: stay in some bullshit hotel. But these are the places
- 1:32:11Speaker 7: that you gotta be. And we've been everywhere. We've been
- 1:32:13Speaker 7: from overseas to you.
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: Know peoples Miami to everywhere.
- 1:32:19Speaker 7: Like what I'm saying, but that's where you gotta go
- 1:32:21Speaker 7: because it's like there's nothing like face to face interaction.
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: That's how we met.
- 1:32:24Speaker 7: Like you can hit somebody, you know a lot of
- 1:32:27Speaker 7: if you see somebody in person, that changes the dynamic.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: It does.
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: It gets misconscrewed because people see us out everywhere, but
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: they just seem like we're happening. Hey, these guys are
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: having a good time. No, we're actually trying to meet
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: the people who are in these spaces. So when we
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: talk about being super potential, about the rules, we gotta
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: live by example.
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: Yeah, man. And so you know, when I was at
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: a vest fast and I think it's something to be
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: said about the middle man and ship, that's a there's
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: even more conversation now because I think in this game,
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: the interesting dynamic is those same people can make money
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: with those people right, they don't take money to him.
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: Like let's say you need to book the baby, or
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: you need to book the baby or something. There's people
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: around him that if the number is right, they'll present
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: that to him. But it's other things that maybe they
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: don't present. And I just wonder why, how don't you.
- 1:33:20Speaker 7: Know they don't see the value in it or they
- 1:33:22Speaker 7: don't they that's the problem. You gotta not only So
- 1:33:26Speaker 7: let's say you're trying to get the baby right at
- 1:33:30Speaker 7: your show. Yeah, he has to see enough value in
- 1:33:34Speaker 7: it to come. That's one right. Now, Let's say you're
- 1:33:37Speaker 7: trying to go through two levels. You're trying to get
- 1:33:39Speaker 7: his road manager to convince his manager to convince him
- 1:33:42Speaker 7: to go a road maniga in his brain, he's human nature.
- 1:33:46Speaker 7: He gotta he got you gotta convince him.
- 1:33:47Speaker 10: He got to convince him to avince him.
- 1:33:49Speaker 6: Now he got a manager.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: Got to see enough value in it.
- 1:33:53Speaker 6: But there's too many.
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: This good game. This is so much said, this is
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: extremely good game. Because it ain't that they don't fuck
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: with you, it's that it's too much convincing. And when
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: he seeing himself, if it's said thing, he gonna say, hey,
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: get me in touch with with Home Man Home kicking
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: that shit.
- 1:34:12Speaker 9: But there's a piece of it inside that as well.
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: And we all talk about attacking the peruna of the
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: person you're trying to get to, right, So the fact
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: that you need to know who the road manager is
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: exactly you might need to know who the tour manager
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: is because you're going to impress them with the value
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: that you're adding. By the time it gets to the
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: person think, oh, yeah, are you're rocking with them?
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: I heard about them too, I saw them too.
- 1:34:34Speaker 9: Say.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: We've done that plenty of times, and we keep telling
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: people you should do that.
- 1:34:38Speaker 9: Even now.
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: When we came to Atlanta, some of the security as here, Hey,
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: you guys in town, I got this person you should meet,
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: or if y'all coming to the show, I'll bring you
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: up backstage.
- 1:34:47Speaker 9: I'll bring you right to the person. Right.
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: So these things happen, we're telling it, and I think
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: the beauty about what we're doing is that we're telling
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: people and we're doing it in real time and they get.
- 1:34:56Speaker 9: To see it, execute it in real time.
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: Whereas in the past it was you heard these stories,
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: these myths of how these things trenchpirt. Now this happened
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: on Tuesday. We're telling you Tuesday night, this happened.
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. And then for me, all of
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: my guests have reached out to me. You know, it
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: been basically like a like you said, like again, respect
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: the discovery process. You gotta respect that discovery process. And
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: sometimes it take a while before it get to a
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: point where because they know my really the whole game
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: know my face. At this point, they be seeing me places, Man,
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: I know it be the most.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Mega famous motherfucker. You'd be like, I know your face.
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: Man. A lot of times it's baby though, like that nigga,
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: won't that little baby mom. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: But it's always those What is that for y'all? What's
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: that standalone? Is it the Harvey one?
- 1:35:46Speaker 7: Definitely? That's that's the most popular one that we had.
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: Rick Ross was another one that people identify identify with
- 1:35:55Speaker 7: a lot. And then, like you said, just social media.
- 1:35:57Speaker 7: Even people don't know your name, they've seen a clip
- 1:36:00Speaker 7: or they've seen somebody shared it to them their friends,
- 1:36:02Speaker 7: or somebody put in the group chat.
- 1:36:04Speaker 6: You know, they've watched something on YouTube.
- 1:36:05Speaker 7: It's like you become identifiable, you know, what I'm saying
- 1:36:09Speaker 7: that and that also goes back to Keys.
- 1:36:10Speaker 6: He does a great job of branding himself.
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: But I talk him all the time like it's bringing
- 1:36:14Speaker 7: I They don't know if he did this on purpose
- 1:36:15Speaker 7: or not, but he's where that crown every day for
- 1:36:17Speaker 7: five years. You can see you can see him from
- 1:36:20Speaker 7: a mile away. Even if you'll know, you'll know his
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: name nothing the crown. It's like, oh that's bro, that's
- 1:36:26Speaker 7: the dude.
- 1:36:26Speaker 9: And when you see somebody with you know.
- 1:36:28Speaker 6: They with him right, you know?
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: And they and any move like yeah, let me.
- 1:36:39Speaker 9: Up selling.
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: We was at in vest Fits conversation came up about upselling.
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: I think that that is a very slippery slope for
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: you guys. How do y'all feel about upselling?
- 1:36:52Speaker 7: I feel like it got anytime you upsell, it has
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: to be tastefully done. I feel like the best upselling
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: history is Disney And like when you go to Disney World,
- 1:37:00Speaker 7: like you know, after you get off the ride, because
- 1:37:02Speaker 7: I pay attention to you got two types of people
- 1:37:04Speaker 7: in this world. I was always like this. I remember
- 1:37:07Speaker 7: we went to a Jay Z concert. Girl was like
- 1:37:10Speaker 7: I was in this. I was in the top top.
- 1:37:13Speaker 10: They changed the light bulb.
- 1:37:15Speaker 7: Yes, and everybody is just enjoying the twenty dollars people,
- 1:37:18Speaker 7: And I'm looking around while you're looking around, I want
- 1:37:20Speaker 7: to count how many people in the building. I want
- 1:37:22Speaker 7: to see how much ticket I wants you to me.
- 1:37:24Speaker 7: I was always like that. Most people are not like that.
- 1:37:26Speaker 7: Most people just enjoying the moment, just having a good time.
- 1:37:28Speaker 7: So when I went to Disneyland, the thing that really
- 1:37:32Speaker 7: impressed me was after you they make you go to
- 1:37:35Speaker 7: the gift shop. It's not even option after you get
- 1:37:38Speaker 7: out of the ride. Every the gift shop is there, right,
- 1:37:42Speaker 7: you have to get through the gift shop to even exit.
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: And you got your kid with you, going to say
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: give me and the psychologist.
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: And say, doing supermarkets, you can't check out without going
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: through the snack line with the magazines and the candy,
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: and they put you.
- 1:37:57Speaker 7: They put you in a position where you want to
- 1:37:59Speaker 7: wait on line on a lot for an hour.
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: You want to get the fast track.
- 1:38:03Speaker 7: Nobody wants to wait on line for an hour, right,
- 1:38:05Speaker 7: So now you're going to pay two hundred dollars for
- 1:38:08Speaker 7: the fast track pass to get on the same ride.
- 1:38:11Speaker 7: But now I'm it's VIP to the club, right, it's
- 1:38:13Speaker 7: a bottle surface situation. You want to sit, you want
- 1:38:16Speaker 7: to sit on a couch, or you want to wait
- 1:38:17Speaker 7: by the bar. Your decision, your decision, right. So all
- 1:38:21Speaker 7: that's up selling, right, It's just it's done in the
- 1:38:24Speaker 7: manner of way you don't even think about it.
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: They don't happen.
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: They got hard court. Gorilla up selling in black coat. Yeah,
- 1:38:32Speaker 5: it's gorilla pipping.
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: The it's gorilla marketing. Yeah, yeah, definitely, Yeah, it doesn't.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: It never felt clean to my soul. I've never been
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: in sales, like, I never came from that, so I
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: don't even entertained. Like I know my strength, I know
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: my weaknesses. But it doesn't feel good like watching it.
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: It doesn't right, And that's what.
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: And they but see you guys, brand man, Yeah, I
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: think the brand has been safe. But I think it's
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: it's in a very crazy place because you you like
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: the big boss on the video game, it's like the
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: last one to it's like the last one to attack,
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: to to to prove myself that I beat the game.
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: And it's like even if you don't do nothing, there's
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: Luigi in them headed your way. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: It's like I'm wondering how y'all navigate the space when
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: y'all you know what I'm saying. It's like cause it's
- 1:39:21Speaker 5: there's money to be made and there's upselling to be done. Right,
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: Like you say with Disney, there is business to behaved.
- 1:39:27Speaker 7: I think that it's like I think marketing the best
- 1:39:30Speaker 7: marketer is in history. You got Apple, you got Nike.
- 1:39:36Speaker 7: It's a variety of different companies.
- 1:39:37Speaker 6: Right. You never You've never feel like you got sold anything?
- 1:39:42Speaker 8: Right?
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: I never?
- 1:39:42Speaker 7: You never watched the Nike commercial and they said Black
- 1:39:47Speaker 7: Friday sale fifty. That marketing is telling a story, right.
- 1:39:53Speaker 7: Nike has done a great job of telling stories. From
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: the tiger Wood campaign to the Jordan campaign, to Lebron
- 1:40:00Speaker 7: to Kobe, you name it, right, they tell a story.
- 1:40:03Speaker 7: They create scarcity, right when Oh Jordan's come out, then
- 1:40:06Speaker 7: it's only a limited amount. They could put a million pairs,
- 1:40:09Speaker 7: it's a limited amount. They've created a buzz and pop culture.
- 1:40:13Speaker 7: They target the influencers. They've done things strategically.
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: Apple.
- 1:40:16Speaker 7: You go into Apple, it's thirty employees in the store. Right,
- 1:40:19Speaker 7: open architecture, it looks like an art gallery. They revolutionized
- 1:40:22Speaker 7: technology by doing that no other store was doing that.
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: Every other store was you got shelves.
- 1:40:27Speaker 7: You go and you got you know, the clerk Like
- 1:40:30Speaker 7: Apple made it look like you was in an art
- 1:40:32Speaker 7: gallery and experience all the colors is white, everything is
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: so clean.
- 1:40:38Speaker 6: You feel like you want to go.
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: To the store, not that you have to go to
- 1:40:42Speaker 7: the store, right, experience you feel like if you don't
- 1:40:45Speaker 7: have an iPhone, you're the odd man out. Yes, they
- 1:40:49Speaker 7: made you feel that way. Where it's like cult become culture.
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: They've created a cult that has become a culture. So
- 1:40:57Speaker 7: what we're I think what we're doing is more of that.
- 1:41:00Speaker 7: It takes longer, right, it takes longer, but now you
- 1:41:04Speaker 7: have a real brand that's going to stand and test
- 1:41:08Speaker 7: the time as opposed to.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: What do y'all go from here though to the moon
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: to the moon to the move up there to the more.
- 1:41:14Speaker 7: But now I think, you know, just listening to Robert
- 1:41:16Speaker 7: Smith right just to kind of give you some some previews,
- 1:41:19Speaker 7: Like one of the things he told us is like
- 1:41:20Speaker 7: you got to have now It's like it's about having
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: more intangible products, things that are selling without without your
- 1:41:27Speaker 7: physically being there.
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: Let we paint that picture for you though, He's telling
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: us this at six fifty in the morning am on
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: a Friday, right before an interview, not like calling us
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: we're on a street corner about to walk in and
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: do an interview. He's telling us at six fifty in
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: the morning.
- 1:41:41Speaker 7: So it's like, you go only through so many shows,
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: you can only through so many live events. Like I'm saying, like,
- 1:41:45Speaker 7: how do you how do you start to scale? How
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: do you become a situation where people are you're making
- 1:41:50Speaker 7: money in your sleep from different services, products, offerings. So
- 1:41:56Speaker 7: I think that that's the next level for us is
- 1:41:59Speaker 7: more in that base where we've done a great job
- 1:42:01Speaker 7: of curating content that's kind of like on autopilot at
- 1:42:04Speaker 7: this point. The live events we've we've done a great
- 1:42:06Speaker 7: job with that, and that's their room to scale. But
- 1:42:09Speaker 7: now it's it's time to take it to another level.
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: And that's things that's that's going to set another example
- 1:42:14Speaker 7: for people in the culture right where it's like now
- 1:42:16Speaker 7: we're going to talk real product. Now we're going to
- 1:42:18Speaker 7: talk real services, real you know. So now it's.
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: Because people been hitting me about funnels and all of
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: this ship like it's like somebody ship you want to
- 1:42:27Speaker 5: add to you being Is it something you don't If
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: it's If it's not you, it's going to come across
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: to your audience. Did y'all hire any kind of ad agency?
- 1:42:35Speaker 5: Have y'all ever read ads like Facebook? Instagram?
- 1:42:38Speaker 7: We've done that. We've done ads for We never grew
- 1:42:41Speaker 7: our business offer ads. That's that's it's hard to our thing.
- 1:42:45Speaker 7: Has we always grew organically? Word of mouth? We've we've
- 1:42:48Speaker 7: run ads to this day. But the ads wasn't like
- 1:42:52Speaker 7: the sole catalyst of us becoming successful. The sole caalgis
- 1:42:55Speaker 7: of become successful was creating good content, people sharing the content,
- 1:42:59Speaker 7: and being consistent.
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: I would say the number one adds the same thing
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: that you see the information right every day is information
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: every day. You know you're gonna get information every Tuesday.
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: You're gonna get a new episode about a topic every Monday.
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: We're gonna be on marketing, consistency.
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: Value, ad information combined.
- 1:43:18Speaker 9: It's worked.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: That's our water mouth becomes the number one thing we
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: could put Facebook ads and Instagram ads.
- 1:43:24Speaker 9: It doesn't have the same feel to it, right.
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: That's why I said, if you're doing something even like
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: for click funnels, like if it's not unique and it's
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: natural to.
- 1:43:33Speaker 9: What you do. You're always gonna feel it.
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: It's gonna feel funny. Yeah, and what is a click
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: funnel for people who don't know?
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: So that's what pay behind the wall types suation, I
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: get a service.
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: But here's the thing is trickery they're telling me. And
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: I'm just giving the game out right whether they care
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: or not. But where it starts free and so it's
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: a funnel. So what they're literally presenting it like free,
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: but then when it gets you waied down here, you
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: gotta pay for.
- 1:44:00Speaker 9: Something digitalized upsell.
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: Okay cool.
- 1:44:03Speaker 9: So like that scenario, he just gave it.
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: This is just digital okay cool. So that's what I'm saying,
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: like understanding what that is. Because if it's some value
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: at the end of the yeah, if it's a part
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: of gold at the end of the rainbow, we win.
- 1:44:16Speaker 5: Everybody happen. But the problem is if they travel way
- 1:44:19Speaker 5: down and they ain't pay and it ain't nothing, now
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: that's where the problem is.
- 1:44:23Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, yeah, so well my brother, Yeah, been a pleasure.
- 1:44:29Speaker 7: Glad we got the chance to get this done. Man,
- 1:44:31Speaker 7: much success to you. What would you like to tell
- 1:44:33Speaker 7: the people before we leave? Any any updates anything? That
- 1:44:36Speaker 7: you got coming up anything.
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: Yeah, Man, make sure you listen this up there podcast.
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: Man follow me FOJLFO underscoring on it on all platforms,
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: Patreon dot com, It's up there podcast. I got two shows,
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: one where I do the solo by myself. The other
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: one is not behind the paywall. It's free to the
- 1:44:55Speaker 5: public on YouTube. But if you want to see me solo,
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: you gotta come behind the paywalk. That's my business, that's
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: how we run it, and I hope to see y'all there.
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: We provide live show tickets to my Patreon members. We
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: provide live in studio recordings and a bunch of other things.
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: The schedule man Monday, tell them when we drop, so
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: we drop audios Monday video behind the paywall on Monday.
- 1:45:18Speaker 5: Of the interview, we dropped that same video free on
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: YouTube on Wednesday. Then we drop a Patreon exclusive on Thursday.
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: I think I got one final question because I know
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: you do freestyles for the solos when you have an interview.
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: Are we freestyling or is there a level of preparation
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: that goes into them.
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: There's a level of preparation.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: If I don't, I can read the same way I
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: recite like I'm one of them dudes that like if
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: you don't catch it while it's hot, it ain't nothing.
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: Because if I got to say it over, it just
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: don't hit the same. It's almost like a comic. But
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: that's where a real skill comes in. At I just
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: did Doctor Umar Johnson and we debated on there by
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: Dion Sanders, and I was pointing out to the crowd,
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: you see how he can get in their pockets because
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: he's told hisself how to rile hisself up or how
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: to tone itself. He's told hisself, you know, how to
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: do this. And for me, I just been freestyling. But
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: when I do interviews, there's a level of preparation. But
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: it's just like a bullet point, like getting you into
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: it and I'm out the way, you know. So it
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: may be earnier leads to Troy speak to them about
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: being the last person on the video game or something
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: that I just said which was just off the head,
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: but and it's like they're like the big boss in
- 1:46:37Speaker 5: the video game. And then wherever that takes me, And
- 1:46:40Speaker 5: it's like that may take me, you know, somewhere. So
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: that's how I do for artists and for people because
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: they have a story and they got fans that's gonna
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: come in and tune in.
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: There you have it, ladies and gentle thank you guys
- 1:46:53Speaker 6: for rocking with us. To see you next week.
- 1:46:54Speaker 9: Please peace.

- 1:46:59Speaker 1: to Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over

- 1:47:35Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
