- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:10Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:12Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:16Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:19Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:21Speaker 1: a hater. It is that time of week where we
- 0:23Speaker 1: have a guest join us. Coming to us live from
- 0:26Speaker 1: Yahoo Sports with all the shoes on the wall of
- 0:28Speaker 1: any goodwill that's going on.
- 0:30Speaker 2: What's happening, man?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Hey, man. It is very interesting what NBA free agency
- 0:36Speaker 1: has become, right? Because we are out of the era
- 0:40Speaker 1: of the big giant free agent deal, right? Where the
- 0:43Speaker 1: guy goes from one team to another. The cats have
- 0:45Speaker 1: all decided, I'm going to just lock in on this
- 0:47Speaker 1: deal and then I'm going to strong arm my way
- 0:50Speaker 1: out of here if it comes down to it. Now,
- 0:53Speaker 1: put a pin in that one because I have some
- 0:54Speaker 1: thoughts about that very idea. But I don't know if
- 0:59Speaker 1: I have been more shocked by any transaction ever in
- 1:03Speaker 1: the NBA. Keep it in mind, I woke up one
- 1:06Speaker 1: day at four o'clock in the morning and Luka Doncic
- 1:09Speaker 1: got traded for Anthony Davis, okay? I have never been
- 1:13Speaker 1: more shocked than you and I, you and I were
- 1:16Speaker 1: texting while this is going on because you actually got
- 1:17Speaker 1: to talk to people. I just be out here watching television.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So we see that Miles Turner has signed a $ 25
- 1:23Speaker 1: million a year deal to go to Milwaukee, which was
- 1:27Speaker 1: a surprise on a number of levels. Chief amongst them,
- 1:30Speaker 1: Milwaukee had no cash space. So I'm watching on TV
- 1:33Speaker 1: and it's Tim Bon Temps and Brian Windhorst and Bon
- 1:36Speaker 1: Temps is hypothesized that maybe, maybe they traded Kyle Kuzma
- 1:41Speaker 1: because Kyle Kuzma's salary matched up in order to make
- 1:44Speaker 1: this happen. And wrong. We found out that they waived
- 1:49Speaker 1: Dame Lillard. Somebody sent me a text and said they
- 1:52Speaker 1: waived Dame Lillard and not a person in the game,
- 1:55Speaker 1: just somebody. And I was like, hey, I need to
- 1:57Speaker 1: investigate this matter. I don't know if I can trust you,
- 2:00Speaker 1: my very intelligent friend, because nothing like this ever happened.
- 2:05Speaker 1: They waived him, stretched the $ 110 million out that they
- 2:08Speaker 1: owe him over five years of salary cap, presumably in
- 2:14Speaker 1: an attempt to keep Giannis. You think that's going to work?
- 2:19Speaker 3: Giannis will leave if he wants to leave. And I
- 2:22Speaker 3: think that's the thing that we miss. We naturally assume
- 2:25Speaker 3: that Giannis wants to leave when we've seen and we've
- 2:29Speaker 3: probably been in situations where you don't leave relationships unless
- 2:33Speaker 3: you want to. And plenty of times you get reasons
- 2:37Speaker 3: to leave, but you stay because you want to stay.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Milwaukee has given him reasons to leave. And then they
- 2:42Speaker 3: have gone and done something in the 23rd hour to
- 2:45Speaker 3: try to get him to stay. Now, this isn't getting
- 2:47Speaker 3: Drew Holiday in 2020. This isn't getting Dame Lillard two
- 2:50Speaker 3: years ago to get him to resign.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Bo, think about it like this.
- 2:54Speaker 3: His extension hasn't even kicked in yet. The extension that
- 2:57Speaker 3: he signed when they got Dame Lillard two years ago
- 3:01Speaker 3: doesn't kick in until this season.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So it's almost like the game just rewinds.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Now, on the Dame Lillard thing, it is utterly fascinating
- 3:12Speaker 3: for me that 110 over five.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Years, and they're like, you know what? We can swallow that.
- 3:18Speaker 2: We can eat that.
- 3:19Speaker 3: That is a above-level, mid-level player that you are saying
- 3:23Speaker 3: will be dead money.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And we think.
- 3:25Speaker 3: That will be the best course of action to keep
- 3:29Speaker 3: Giannis Antetokounmpo. And Miles Turner is only replacing Brooke Lopez.
- 3:35Speaker 3: He's not adding on to what they've had over the
- 3:38Speaker 3: past couple of years. He's just a younger version of
- 3:42Speaker 3: everything that Brooke Lopez is. Stretch the floor, defend in space, rebound,
- 3:46Speaker 3: block shots.
- 3:48Speaker 2: He's just younger. That's all.
- 3:49Speaker 3: And by younger, I mean he graduated or he left
- 3:51Speaker 3: college in 2016.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Like, this ain't no young dude, Bo. Like, he's 30
- 3:56Speaker 2: years old.
- 3:57Speaker 3: But this is where the Milwaukee Bucks are at, this
- 4:01Speaker 3: level of desperation to the point that the only move left,
- 4:05Speaker 3: keeping in mind that they don't even have a point guard, Bo.
- 4:07Speaker 3: What are they going to do? Go get Chris Paul,
- 4:09Speaker 3: Vincent Danwitty, Russell Westbrook? Like, they don't have a point guard.
- 4:12Speaker 3: But the only move left, the only card left to
- 4:15Speaker 3: play is to throw the big joker on the table
- 4:18Speaker 3: and say, hey, y'all, this is all we got. Y'all
- 4:20Speaker 3: know what you want to do. That's all they have left.
- 4:24Speaker 1: To be fair, Miles Turner is much younger than Brook Lopez.
- 4:29Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Well, you are correct. I agree with you 100% that
- 4:34Speaker 1: it is another version of the same thing, right? And
- 4:39Speaker 1: I think I would argue– The evolution of Brook Lopez
- 4:42Speaker 1: in his career and what his skills are has been
- 4:45Speaker 1: fascinating because there was a point where he was a
- 4:46Speaker 1: seven rebound a game guy at his size, which is crazy.
- 4:50Speaker 2: We have four different versions of Brook Lopez. Four.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Incredible, right? There are a handful of guys who are
- 4:59Speaker 1: active and are the all-time leading scorer of a franchise
- 5:05Speaker 1: in the NBA, right? LeBron James is. Damian Lillard is.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Who's the other one I was just thinking about? Russell Westbrook.
- 5:14Speaker 1: He is. If he gave me a little more time,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I could probably stop. Oh, I said LeBron James. If
- 5:19Speaker 1: he gave me a little time, I could cook up
- 5:20Speaker 1: some more, right? I think Steph Curry now is the
- 5:22Speaker 1: Warriors guy, right?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And one of those people is Brook Lopez.
- 5:29Speaker 2: For the Brooklyn Nets.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Brook Lopez, he's the all-time leading scorer in the history
- 5:34Speaker 1: of the mostly New Jersey Nets. He did a lot
- 5:37Speaker 1: of New Jersey. No, he was Brooklyn. But either way.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Fun fact about Brooke Lopez. I say this, though. If
- 5:43Speaker 1: you're Milwaukee, future, what future? We got no chance if
- 5:47Speaker 1: we're burning 50 a year for two years, right? They
- 5:50Speaker 1: are betting on cap increases that will certainly occur that
- 5:54Speaker 1: will smooth this out just a little bit. But I
- 5:56Speaker 1: also think they're looking at this one. I don't think
- 6:00Speaker 1: they think that Giannis is leaving. And at this point,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I don't think. Giannis is going to want to leave.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And I got a couple of reasons behind that. Number one,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I remember once I was in a negotiation with a
- 6:15Speaker 1: place and had a pretty strong push from another place
- 6:21Speaker 1: to get me. But I didn't want to do that. Right.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And I remember telling the first place, hey, don't make
- 6:29Speaker 1: me do this. Like, I'm telling you right here, this
- 6:33Speaker 1: is what I want it to be, but if you
- 6:35Speaker 1: make me do it, I mean, of course, they damn
- 6:37Speaker 1: near did, but I'm like, don't make me do this, okay?
- 6:43Speaker 1: That's where I feel like Giannis has been with Milwaukee, right? Like, look, man,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I really, really, really want to do this, okay? Don't
- 6:49Speaker 1: make it to where, don't make me look stupid, right?
- 6:52Speaker 1: Don't make me feel foolish for being loyal to what's
- 6:56Speaker 1: going on here, right? Like, that seems to be the
- 6:58Speaker 1: way that he's going about this, but I think that
- 7:02Speaker 1: this CBA, and I'm curious your thoughts about this. While
- 7:07Speaker 1: we look at all the things that I think are
- 7:09Speaker 1: ultimately negative about this CBA, and the biggest thing that
- 7:11Speaker 1: I hate about it is they're basically rewarding incompetence, or
- 7:14Speaker 1: at the very least, they are penalizing competence, right? Like
- 7:17Speaker 1: they came up with this salary cap way back when,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and then they had to put the Larry Bird provisions
- 7:21Speaker 1: in because they realized, oh shit, we're making it where
- 7:25Speaker 1: the Boston Celtics can't keep Larry Bird. That's a terrible idea, right?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Like just as a principle. That's a terrible idea. And
- 7:31Speaker 1: so they did all these things with the cap to
- 7:33Speaker 1: try to make it such that you can keep your
- 7:35Speaker 1: own team together without just going and poaching players from
- 7:38Speaker 1: other teams. That seemed to be what the provision was.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Then it reached a place where they were like, yo, man,
- 7:43Speaker 1: now we can't get these guys to stay anymore because
- 7:45Speaker 1: they decided they wanted to put the max salary provision
- 7:47Speaker 1: in there. And that made it such that the difference
- 7:49Speaker 1: between the max and what you get in these other
- 7:51Speaker 1: places by and large was not that high. Then they
- 7:54Speaker 1: kept doing more.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:55Speaker 1: They added the idea of the Supermax, for example, so
- 7:58Speaker 1: that now they make it even more, make it easier
- 8:01Speaker 1: for the teams to keep the guys. But that still
- 8:04Speaker 1: wasn't really working that well in order to keep guys.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Now they set these aprons up. Right. And aside from
- 8:12Speaker 1: the fact that the aprons, you know, have these punitive
- 8:15Speaker 1: tax penalties when you go over the second apron and
- 8:17Speaker 1: everything else that comes with it. What it really does
- 8:19Speaker 1: that I think is most interesting and quite honestly problematic
- 8:22Speaker 1: is that once teams get into these second aprons, it's
- 8:25Speaker 1: what you can't do to improve your team. It's the
- 8:28Speaker 1: trades and acquisitions that you can't make in order to
- 8:32Speaker 1: get your team just a little bit better. So once
- 8:34Speaker 1: you decide to go into second apron, hard cap is
- 8:37Speaker 1: basically where we are, except it's not even just a
- 8:39Speaker 1: hard cap. you can't maneuver, right? So it's one thing
- 8:43Speaker 1: to be like, yo, you can't go add more players
- 8:45Speaker 1: because then it's too much. But now we can't even
- 8:47Speaker 1: make little moves. I say all that to say this.
- 8:51Speaker 1: If you're Giannis, if a team makes a move to
- 8:55Speaker 1: get you, How unlikely or how likely is it that
- 8:58Speaker 1: you're going to be right back in the same situation
- 9:00Speaker 1: in 18 to 24 months looking around like what y'all got,
- 9:04Speaker 1: what y'all going to be able to do for me.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And now we're going to be doing this same exact
- 9:09Speaker 1: thing over and over again. So to me, it feels
- 9:11Speaker 1: like the owners have finally gotten what they wanted to
- 9:15Speaker 1: me at the expense of everything else. But they finally
- 9:18Speaker 1: got what they wanted. We're going to make these dudes stay.
- 9:21Speaker 1: These guys that we think sell all the tickets, we're
- 9:25Speaker 1: going to make it really hard for them to leave.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Well, it's funny.
- 9:29Speaker 3: You said penalizing competence. I think they're penalizing excellence, right?
- 9:33Speaker 3: And now players, it's going to be so much more important,
- 9:37Speaker 3: because I'm going to get to a point. It's going
- 9:38Speaker 3: to be so much more important, to your last point,
- 9:40Speaker 3: about where players are drafted now. Because before it would
- 9:43Speaker 3: be you could spend seven years somewhere, and then once
- 9:46Speaker 3: you get into a certain place where you could get 25%
- 9:49Speaker 3: of the cap, Then you go somewhere, sign a shorter deal,
- 9:53Speaker 3: then sign a longer deal, and you're in the place
- 9:55Speaker 3: that you want to be. That no longer exists. And folks,
- 9:58Speaker 3: let us appreciate Bomani having his Samuel L. Jackson and
- 10:02Speaker 3: Jungle Fever moment where he says... Don't make me beat
- 10:06Speaker 3: somebody over the head.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'll do it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I'll do it. That's all I'm saying. I'll do it.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'll do it. That was very much. I've been there
- 10:15Speaker 1: a couple times. One time it worked out the way
- 10:18Speaker 1: it wanted. One time it was just like, all right, cool.
- 10:20Speaker 1: You know, we'll do this.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Cool.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You got it.
- 10:24Speaker 2: All right, man. Wesley Snipes. All right, man. Here, here.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Just don't make me beat somebody over the head.
- 10:28Speaker 1: No.
- 10:29Speaker 3: But I think the CBA, amongst other things, has landlocked
- 10:36Speaker 3: players into deciding either you want the money that you
- 10:40Speaker 3: are going to be underpaid for anyway, right?
- 10:44Speaker 2: LeBron, underpaid. Giannis, underpaid.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Like the top of the top level guys, they know
- 10:49Speaker 3: how much they're worth to their franchises, so they can't
- 10:52Speaker 3: take a penny less. The union has set it up
- 10:54Speaker 3: so that if Giannis takes less, then that sets the
- 10:57Speaker 3: precedent for every other superstar coming.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Down the pike. LeBron has to take the Max.
- 11:03Speaker 3: He absolutely cannot afford for the future help of the
- 11:06Speaker 3: league and the players in the league not take a
- 11:10Speaker 3: dollar less at this stage because of all the discounts
- 11:14Speaker 3: or because of the discount he took in Miami. Well,
- 11:17Speaker 3: I think I think his first year he was getting
- 11:18Speaker 3: 13 million dollars. Oh, that is mid-level exception money now.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yo, and that's the reason why he ain't taking a
- 11:27Speaker 1: dime less ever again. I tell you, he did it
- 11:29Speaker 1: once and y'all ain't give him no credit for it.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Not never.
- 11:33Speaker 3: So with Giannis, and I'm with you on the point
- 11:36Speaker 3: that not only it makes players stay and you wind
- 11:39Speaker 3: up being in the exact same situation.
- 11:41Speaker 2: For me, it's twofold.
- 11:43Speaker 3: If I'm a rival team and I'm looking at the
- 11:46Speaker 3: NBA moving so much faster, like we never would have
- 11:49Speaker 3: thought Luka Doncic would have gotten traded. We don't know
- 11:52Speaker 3: how many times we thought Kevin Durant would be traded,
- 11:54Speaker 3: like all the machinations and things that have changed over
- 11:57Speaker 3: the NBA just in the last 24 months, right? I'm
- 12:03Speaker 3: still operating under the guise that maybe this don't work,
- 12:06Speaker 3: and I'm going to keep my powder dry, and I'm
- 12:09Speaker 3: going to hold my war chest just in case Giannis says,
- 12:12Speaker 3: you know what, I've had enough. That's why if I'm
- 12:14Speaker 3: the Houston Rockets, yeah, I will give you but so much,
- 12:18Speaker 3: Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant. But I'm keeping my Jabari Smiths.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I'm keeping my Cam Whitmores. I'm keeping Reed Shepard. I'm
- 12:27Speaker 3: keeping a man Thompson who was never going anywhere, anywhere, anyway.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I'm keeping all of my young players just in case
- 12:35Speaker 3: Giannis decides I've had enough. Because you can go from
- 12:38Speaker 3: saying I'm a Milwaukee Buck for life to saying, man,
- 12:42Speaker 3: in a week Eastern conference, we couldn't get it done
- 12:45Speaker 3: in 2026 to saying.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Get me up out of here.
- 12:49Speaker 3: If I'm Giannis, and there is no clear-cut place besides Houston,
- 12:53Speaker 3: I'm saying let's play this out for at least a
- 12:56Speaker 3: year because then he has one more year left after
- 13:00Speaker 3: next year, and then he goes into an option year.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Not saying that because nobody goes into free agency anymore, right?
- 13:05Speaker 3: The Stars don't go into free agency anymore. You get traded,
- 13:09Speaker 3: and you get your extension. That's how it goes. But
- 13:11Speaker 3: if I'm honest, I'm playing this out for at least
- 13:13Speaker 3: one year so that all these other teams that maybe
- 13:16Speaker 3: want to make a run for me They get your
- 13:18Speaker 3: draft picks in order, you get your house in order,
- 13:20Speaker 3: and then you go from there.
- 13:21Speaker 1: All right, but let me throw something else out here.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And I feel bad for Giannis because I can often
- 13:28Speaker 1: feel like this in my own life, and it doesn't
- 13:31Speaker 1: feel good. But if I'm Milwaukee, say Giannis come upstairs
- 13:37Speaker 1: and say, I want a trade. Duly noted. We're going
- 13:41Speaker 1: to work on finding you a trade. You telling me
- 13:44Speaker 1: Giannis ain't going to come out here and play hard, bro? Oh,
- 13:49Speaker 1: it's just what he does. It's what he does. It's
- 13:52Speaker 1: what he does. It's what he does. Like, this is not...
- 13:55Speaker 1: James Harden says he wants to trade. You need to
- 13:57Speaker 1: go trade James Harden right now.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Okay?
- 14:01Speaker 1: Before somebody got to whoop his ass in the locker room.
- 14:04Speaker 1: You need to go trade James Harden, right? Because that's
- 14:06Speaker 1: in Houston. That's what it almost came down to. Look,
- 14:10Speaker 1: it was a bunch of new. What was it? DeMarcus Cousins?
- 14:13Speaker 1: John Wall. John Wall. PJ Tucker was on that team.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Like James Harden. Hey, brother, myself first. And I believe
- 14:21Speaker 1: the word that I saw used by at least one
- 14:24Speaker 1: of them was disrespect. They felt as though James Harden
- 14:28Speaker 1: was behaving in a disrespectful manner.
- 14:33Speaker 3: And this is post-Achilles boogie.
- 14:36Speaker 1: It's great.
- 14:37Speaker 2: He had zero of the Fs to give.
- 14:40Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, man. No, man.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And they had to get James Harden out of there.
- 14:46Speaker 1: But Giannis, Giannis is going to show up. Look, remember
- 14:48Speaker 1: when Kevin Durant asked for a trade from the Nets
- 14:50Speaker 1: and they was like, yeah, gotcha. Okay. That's nice. Kevin Durant,
- 15:00Speaker 1: they treated that Kevin Durant trade proposal like it is
- 15:02Speaker 1: with Trump when they bring him to daily briefing. He's like, ah, cool.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Toss that bitch over his shoulder like nothing ain't even happened. Like,
- 15:11Speaker 1: what I need to know with that? What I need
- 15:12Speaker 1: that for? Are you going to be kidding me? Right?
- 15:15Speaker 1: And so I think in part, that's kind of where
- 15:17Speaker 1: if I'm the... Because here's... If I'm the Bucks and
- 15:19Speaker 1: we've all talked about the Rockets and... I think if
- 15:23Speaker 1: you are a Milwaukee fan, you absolutely say, we have
- 15:26Speaker 1: to get Amin Thompson in such a trade. If you
- 15:30Speaker 1: are a Rockets fan, you're saying, we're not giving Amin
- 15:33Speaker 1: Thompson up in that trade. If I am Milwaukee, I
- 15:35Speaker 1: am very clear with Giannis. Look, if you want to
- 15:37Speaker 1: go to Houston, that's cool. But I'm telling you right now,
- 15:40Speaker 1: if they don't give us Thompson, we're not doing it. Right?
- 15:44Speaker 1: And for what it's worth, if I'm the Rockets, I'd
- 15:47Speaker 1: probably do it.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You have to. You hold your nose.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And you do it because if you're getting Giannis at age, okay,
- 15:55Speaker 3: Giannis is 30 now. He'll be 31 in December. And
- 15:58Speaker 3: you look at the years of excellence that Giannis has had,
- 16:02Speaker 3: these elite years. Let's just go back to, let's say 2018, right?
- 16:06Speaker 3: Let's say 2018 is the first year where Giannis has
- 16:10Speaker 3: turned into an absolute superhero. And then 2019 was his
- 16:13Speaker 3: first MVP. He's been a superhero for seven years at 6'11.
- 16:18Speaker 3: 240 pounds with the beating on his body. And let's
- 16:23Speaker 3: just say the lack of outside development from three-point shooting.
- 16:28Speaker 3: So his game is predicated on power and strength and
- 16:32Speaker 3: speed and all these things that diminish over time, unless
- 16:36Speaker 3: you are LeBron James by and large.
- 16:40Speaker 2: If you're going to acquire him, you can only play
- 16:42Speaker 2: for two years at a time.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:47Speaker 3: You're going to get two rings out of it, but
- 16:49Speaker 3: you're going to play for those two years with him
- 16:51Speaker 3: and KD and you're going to be OK with it.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Right. So here's my question for you on that idea,
- 16:59Speaker 1: because I think you're correct about that. Right. All of
- 17:02Speaker 1: us are wild excited about Ahmed Thompson.
- 17:05Speaker 2: OK. Yes.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And I think you tell me if I'm wrong, he's
- 17:08Speaker 1: taller and he's more slender. But I think the comp
- 17:11Speaker 1: that we're really looking at is Kawhi Leonard. right? That
- 17:15Speaker 1: to me is like a guy that has the potential
- 17:16Speaker 1: to be the best perimeter defender in the NBA can
- 17:20Speaker 1: go and get his own shot. He's slender, but he's strong, right?
- 17:24Speaker 1: I feel like he's got a kind of no-must, no-fuss
- 17:26Speaker 1: offensive game that is similar to that. The thing is,
- 17:29Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonard turned himself into an excellent three-point shooter, and
- 17:33Speaker 1: Ahmed Thompson, as it stands right now, is a mediocre
- 17:36Speaker 1: to bad three-point shooter. I bring all that up to say,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I think that we're operating on an assumption of how
- 17:42Speaker 1: good Thompson is going to be. That is actually a
- 17:45Speaker 1: touch optimistic, especially considering he's 22. Right. This is not
- 17:48Speaker 1: a guy who is like, you know, came into the
- 17:50Speaker 1: league at 18. Right. I it's a big risk if
- 17:54Speaker 1: you're the Rockets. But if you decide you're playing the
- 17:57Speaker 1: honest game, then I think this is a dude you trade.
- 18:01Speaker 1: You can't have this with so many ways. But then
- 18:03Speaker 1: the problem, Vinny, is that Ahmed Thompson does not make
- 18:05Speaker 1: a lot of money right now. And so if you
- 18:07Speaker 1: do make this trade and you have Giannis, you have
- 18:09Speaker 1: Giannis and Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant, who's going to want
- 18:11Speaker 1: some more money after this. So then what do you do?
- 18:16Speaker 3: So, Bo, I think there's something to that, right? I
- 18:19Speaker 3: think the comp for all of these hypothetical deals is
- 18:22Speaker 3: a Sam Presti combo deal, right?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Where we get Shea Gildas Alexander.
- 18:27Speaker 3: You get Paul George, and we get every single draft
- 18:30Speaker 3: pick known to mankind. Let me ask you this, and
- 18:33Speaker 3: not to change the subject, but let me just ask
- 18:35Speaker 3: you as far as worth of a trade.
- 18:37Speaker 2: If the L.A.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Clippers win a championship, do we think of that deal
- 18:42Speaker 3: as so lopsided? If they win one championship, even if
- 18:46Speaker 3: they win the goddamn bubble championship in 2020, do we think.
- 18:50Speaker 2: That the L.A.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Clippers get fleeced by Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City Thunder?
- 18:55Speaker 3: Is that trade worth his weight in gold for one championship?
- 19:00Speaker 1: So that is an interesting question because it raises this.
- 19:04Speaker 1: What is a championship worth depending upon the franchise, right?
- 19:10Speaker 1: For example, the one championship that LeBron won for the
- 19:13Speaker 1: Cavs means way more than the one championship that LeBron
- 19:17Speaker 1: won for the Lakers. They are not the same, right?
- 19:21Speaker 1: To me, if the Clippers, The Clippers had won a championship.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Everything that you could ever imagine is worth it. I
- 19:35Speaker 1: actually make the argument that for the Clippers, that trade
- 19:39Speaker 1: was not nearly as lopsided as advertised. They had some
- 19:42Speaker 1: horrible luck. And some of it, I mean, it's just
- 19:45Speaker 1: what Kawhi Leonard's body was. They had some injury issues
- 19:47Speaker 1: with Paul George also.
- 19:49Speaker 2: But.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I don't think that we can be so short-sighted in
- 19:53Speaker 1: our memories to lose sight of the fact that That
- 19:57Speaker 1: trade completed what started with the Chris Paul trade in
- 20:01Speaker 1: the fall of 2011 and completely legitimized this franchise to
- 20:05Speaker 1: the point where they could have their own arena and
- 20:07Speaker 1: everything that came with it. You know what I mean?
- 20:10Speaker 1: And the Clippers, by the way, are not a bad team.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They were still in a position to make some moves
- 20:15Speaker 1: and do some things and make some stuff happen. Kawhi
- 20:19Speaker 1: Leonard was more tattered than they had understood. But if
- 20:23Speaker 1: they had won that championship, yep, you make that trade.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Every single time. It is a no-brainer. The question is,
- 20:31Speaker 1: how much is one ring worth it to the Houston Rockets?
- 20:35Speaker 2: And I was going to say that.
- 20:36Speaker 3: I was going to say that because Houston has a
- 20:37Speaker 3: championship lineage. Houston has won championships. They have gone to
- 20:42Speaker 3: the NBA. They went to the NBA Finals twice in
- 20:43Speaker 3: the 80s, twice in the 90s, been a contender over
- 20:47Speaker 3: the Daryl Morey, James Harden years.
- 20:49Speaker 2: They aren't the little engine that could. And they are
- 20:52Speaker 2: the team.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Or the franchise that you made this point before. They
- 20:56Speaker 3: are very welcoming to stars. When you look at their
- 20:59Speaker 3: all-time list, you're like, man, okay, yeah, you drafted a king.
- 21:03Speaker 3: You traded for Clyde. You traded for Charles. You traded
- 21:05Speaker 3: for Chris Paul. You traded for James Harden. You traded,
- 21:08Speaker 3: you know, Moses Malone, even going back to those guys. Like,
- 21:10Speaker 3: you wind up having.
- 21:17Speaker 2: You know?
- 21:18Speaker 1: And keep in mind, when they drafted Ralph Sampson and
- 21:20Speaker 1: Elijah Ward, what that meant in both cases.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yes. And duplication. Who cares? You're going to the NBA finals.
- 21:26Speaker 2: That's what that meant. That legit. I mean, let's.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Appreciate the fact that Hakeem Olajuwon in year two put out,
- 21:35Speaker 3: put out arguably the greatest center of the modern era
- 21:38Speaker 3: in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and and then basically gave the works to.
- 21:46Speaker 3: the greatest front line we've ever seen in Larry Bird,
- 21:48Speaker 3: Kevin McHale, Robert Parrish, right in year two.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That was Akeem Abdul Olajuwon.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Not Akeem.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Can I make my quick point about Akeem starting with A, Olajuwon,
- 22:00Speaker 1: that everyone needs to remember, and it is the greatest
- 22:02Speaker 1: compliment that anybody could ever make? I grew up in Houston.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Never once heard nobody say we could have had Jordan.
- 22:11Speaker 2: That's the win.
- 22:12Speaker 1: How crazy that is. And by the way, baby, I
- 22:17Speaker 1: don't know anybody who had the majority of his prime
- 22:22Speaker 1: completely wasted by the front office. You can blame it
- 22:26Speaker 1: on the dope.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:27Speaker 1: But the dope was Mitch Wiggins and Lou Lloyd. This
- 22:30Speaker 1: is like the, the, the dope was not, the dope
- 22:33Speaker 1: did not take out Ralph Sampson. Everything else got Ralph Sampson,
- 22:36Speaker 1: but the dope did not take out Ralph Sampson. It
- 22:37Speaker 1: was Elijah Watt and his lonesome out there. And he
- 22:41Speaker 1: won a ring with it. And by the way, Elijah
- 22:43Speaker 1: Watt told the Rockets, I want to trade. And Charlie Thomas,
- 22:48Speaker 1: the dead owner told him, you call me whatever you want,
- 22:51Speaker 1: but I got tickets to sell. And all Elijah Watt
- 22:54Speaker 1: did was say, okay. And then two years later, won
- 22:56Speaker 1: a championship. And then the next year won another.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Look, The fact that he went to them and said,
- 23:02Speaker 3: I want to trade. That's like me saying, I want
- 23:04Speaker 3: to date with Kelly Rowland. You know what we're going
- 23:06Speaker 3: to do?
- 23:07Speaker 2: Laugh.
- 23:10Speaker 1: He said they wanted to trade after they accused him
- 23:12Speaker 1: of faking an injury. It was terrible. And they were like, nope.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Everybody's just going to have to get over it.
- 23:20Speaker 3: And you know what we're going to give you? We're
- 23:23Speaker 3: going to give you Otis Thorpe, Sam Cassell, Kenny Smith,
- 23:29Speaker 3: And Vernon Maxwell, go make it happen.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Make it enough. And he made it enough. And he
- 23:36Speaker 2: put out in consecutive years.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Hold on. We would have got you Robert Ory, but
- 23:42Speaker 1: then that wasn't actually going so good. So we decided
- 23:45Speaker 1: to trade him to get you Sean Elliott, except he
- 23:50Speaker 1: needed a new kidney. We just didn't know it at
- 23:52Speaker 1: the time. And so they sent Robert Ory back. Can
- 23:55Speaker 1: you imagine? I mean, these sorts of things have happened before, right?
- 23:59Speaker 1: But I don't know what it would have been like
- 24:01Speaker 1: in this day and age, the Robert Ory for Sean
- 24:03Speaker 1: Elliott trade. It was Robert Ory and Matt Bullard for
- 24:07Speaker 1: Sean Elliott. Sean Elliott failed his physical. It was years
- 24:10Speaker 1: before the kidney got replaced, but he failed his physical.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And Matt Bullard now does TV for the Rockets, and
- 24:16Speaker 1: Robert Ory became Big Shot Bob in the 95.5s.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Think about it like this.
- 24:22Speaker 3: In a two-year span, the San Antonio Spurs said, we're
- 24:26Speaker 3: going to trade Sean Elliott for Dennis Rodman. And then
- 24:30Speaker 3: they traded for Sean Elliott again and got him back
- 24:33Speaker 3: for the Lolo. For the Lolo. And then they decided
- 24:36Speaker 3: to take that gift horse in the mouth and say,
- 24:38Speaker 3: you know what, Dennis Rodman? You're a little too crazy
- 24:41Speaker 3: for us. We're going to trade you for Will Purdue.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Gave him away. They were like, just whatever you got.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Just, just. You want him. You want him.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Just name something. Name a price and we're going to
- 24:56Speaker 3: say yes. I mean, I don't have a lot.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Name a price. I promise you, I don't have a lot.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Name a price. Okay, man.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I'm serious. Will Purdue. Sold!
- 25:08Speaker 1: Sold! Sold! They would have took Will Purdue. They would
- 25:11Speaker 1: have took Ed Neely. They would have took Bobby Hanson.
- 25:15Speaker 1: They would have took John Paxson. They would have took
- 25:18Speaker 1: Bill Winnington. What other white boys am I forgetting that
- 25:21Speaker 1: the Bulls had? Because Phil Jackson loved to keep a couple.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Jack Haley. They kept Jack Haley. They had to keep
- 25:29Speaker 2: Jack Haley for Rodman.
- 25:31Speaker 1: For Dennis Rodman. That is correct.
- 25:33Speaker 2: God bless his soul. God bless his soul. Sorry, Jack Haley.
- 25:37Speaker 3: But to your point, circling back about the man Thompson,
- 25:41Speaker 3: the question I have is, Why does he need to
- 25:44Speaker 3: be a three point shooter to be even an elite
- 25:47Speaker 3: offensive player?
- 25:49Speaker 1: I think he needs to be a better than 28
- 25:53Speaker 1: percent three point shooter.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I don't need him to be I don't need him
- 25:57Speaker 1: to shoot like Brad Beal. Right. But 28, we can
- 26:02Speaker 1: leave you alone. That is what you can't have. And
- 26:06Speaker 1: that is the point that he's at now. Now, of course,
- 26:09Speaker 1: with Durant now, they'll be able to spread the floor
- 26:12Speaker 1: a little better and that'll make him a bit more dangerous.
- 26:15Speaker 1: But the reason to keep Ahmed Thompson is not what
- 26:18Speaker 1: he can do for you right now. It's the idea
- 26:20Speaker 1: and thought that you have a real live frontline franchise
- 26:23Speaker 1: player for many years. And he's a guy that all
- 26:25Speaker 1: the guys who play basketball, they see it. They immediately
- 26:28Speaker 1: see it with him. I'm probably going to get Giannis, right? Like,
- 26:32Speaker 1: It's in the same situation as the Clippers. We're going
- 26:34Speaker 1: to get Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Okay, but you
- 26:37Speaker 1: got to give us Shea. All right, we'll see what happens.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Now, here's the question I have for you. This is
- 26:43Speaker 3: a general philosophical question that I ask NBA executives and coaches.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Can you build a team beyond a two-year window? Like,
- 26:54Speaker 3: can you look beyond two years in today's NBA? Because
- 26:58Speaker 3: the game moves so damn fast. fast, all the things
- 27:02Speaker 3: we thought existed two years ago, just a short two
- 27:05Speaker 3: years ago after Denver won their NBA championship. Oh, they're
- 27:09Speaker 3: going to be here for a while, right? And we're
- 27:12Speaker 3: going to talk about them. We'll be like, oh, they're
- 27:13Speaker 3: going to be here for a while. No, we're not
- 27:16Speaker 3: really sure. So I think because of free agency and
- 27:19Speaker 3: everything that happens in trade markets and Achilles injuries and
- 27:22Speaker 3: all the other type of stuff, you can't plan beyond
- 27:25Speaker 3: two years in today's NBA. I don't think that's a
- 27:29Speaker 3: good thing. I think some people laugh and think, oh,
- 27:30Speaker 3: it's more like the NFL. I think it's too seismic.
- 27:34Speaker 3: There's not enough connective tissue for fans to build upon,
- 27:38Speaker 3: for the media to build upon, for your own storylines.
- 27:41Speaker 3: If it's too much change, too much like violent change,
- 27:45Speaker 3: but that's the way that the NBA is now.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I don't think you can build beyond two or three years.
- 27:50Speaker 1: These owners wanted the NFL, and this is what they've gotten,
- 27:53Speaker 1: and we're going to see whether that's something anybody actually wants.
- 27:57Speaker 1: But coming up next, we are going to get to
- 27:59Speaker 1: talking about the Denver Nuggets, but we're also going to
- 28:01Speaker 1: talk about what is, or more specifically, is not going
- 28:04Speaker 1: on with the Los Angeles Lakers. Let me tell you
- 28:08Speaker 1: about Z-Biotics pre-alcohol probiotic. Z-Biotics pre-alcohol probiotic drink is the
- 28:13Speaker 1: world's first genetically engineered probiotic. It was invented by PhD
- 28:18Speaker 1: scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking. Here's how it works.
- 28:22Speaker 1: When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic byproduct
- 28:26Speaker 1: in the gut. It's a buildup of this byproduct, not dehydration,
- 28:30Speaker 1: that's to blame for rough days after drinking. Pre-alcohol produces
- 28:34Speaker 1: an enzyme to break this byproduct down. Just remember to
- 28:37Speaker 1: make pre-alcohol your first drink of the night, drink responsibly,
- 28:41Speaker 1: and you'll feel your best tomorrow. Summer is here, which
- 28:44Speaker 1: means more opportunities to celebrate the warm weather. Before that
- 28:48Speaker 1: backyard barbecue brew, glass of Pinot watching the sunset at
- 28:51Speaker 1: the beach, or cocktail by the campfire, don't forget your
- 28:55Speaker 1: Z Biotic pre-alcohol. Drink one before drinking and wake up
- 28:59Speaker 1: feeling great and ready to take on the next day
- 29:01Speaker 1: and all that summer has to offer. Go to zbiotics.com

- 29:29Speaker 1: with vinnie goodwill um i went over it on the
- 29:32Speaker 1: show on monday the lebron james soap opera of sorts
- 29:36Speaker 1: and again i get it from where lebron's coming from
- 29:39Speaker 1: right like lebron thing is you got to put the
- 29:41Speaker 1: screws to these cats every year to get it done.
- 29:45Speaker 1: But I think, again, the new CBA doesn't really make
- 29:48Speaker 1: it possible. To make moves in the way that he
- 29:51Speaker 1: is talking about and be sustainable on it. Now, of course,
- 29:53Speaker 1: if you only got one or two years left, you
- 29:55Speaker 1: like fuck a future dog. Like y'all need to go
- 29:57Speaker 1: ahead and make this happen. There are all the things
- 29:59Speaker 1: that come with it. But I just want to ask
- 30:00Speaker 1: you about this one thing.
- 30:02Speaker 2: OK.
- 30:05Speaker 1: The Lakers need a center. We have known that they
- 30:07Speaker 1: needed a center since. The middle of last season, when
- 30:12Speaker 1: they made the trade for Mark Williams, and then they
- 30:14Speaker 1: said he failed his physical, but Mark Williams just got
- 30:17Speaker 1: traded to somebody else who apparently thinks he going to
- 30:20Speaker 1: be all right. That is its own story for another day.
- 30:24Speaker 1: I saw Lakers fans hoping that the Lakers would get
- 30:29Speaker 1: DeAndre Ayton.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Okay. I.
- 30:34Speaker 1: was a DeAndre Ayton defender for a while, or a
- 30:38Speaker 1: defender of him in the sense that I did not
- 30:41Speaker 1: think I think that when you make a draft pick,
- 30:44Speaker 1: your hope is to get a good player, and you
- 30:46Speaker 1: can't get so caught up in whether or not somebody
- 30:48Speaker 1: else got a better player. And I thought that Phoenix
- 30:51Speaker 1: got a good player when they had them, and I
- 30:53Speaker 1: would note that Phoenix made it to the NBA Finals
- 30:55Speaker 1: before Dallas did, right? I don't know if they wind
- 30:58Speaker 1: up with Chris Paul and all the other stuff, if
- 31:00Speaker 1: they get Luka. There's all kinds of things that are there,
- 31:03Speaker 1: and I don't think Luka had any interest in going
- 31:05Speaker 1: to play for Phoenix, even if their coach was his
- 31:07Speaker 1: Slovenian home, right? All of that stuff. However... In 2022, which, wow,
- 31:16Speaker 1: long time ago now. When DeAndre did not go into
- 31:19Speaker 1: the second half of game seven against Dallas. Flat out
- 31:22Speaker 1: did not go. That was losership right there. And from
- 31:28Speaker 1: what we are hearing out of Portland, where he missed
- 31:31Speaker 1: a game because the roads was frozen. And look, baby,
- 31:33Speaker 1: I know you from the Bahamas, but come on now.
- 31:38Speaker 2: They sent somebody to get him and he was like, no,
- 31:41Speaker 2: I'm straight.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I cannot believe that you would be trying to win
- 31:50Speaker 1: a championship and think that bringing this guy is a
- 31:55Speaker 1: good idea. Like, the only reason you do that if
- 31:57Speaker 1: you're the Lakers is if you try to make LeBron quit.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Can you imagine? Like, what? LeBron, like, look, only person
- 32:04Speaker 1: that gonna be late all the time is me.
- 32:08Speaker 3: It is... Okay, I'm going to start back to what
- 32:12Speaker 3: I saw when I saw DeAndre Ayton. I saw a
- 32:15Speaker 3: big man with decent feet, a good touch, and a
- 32:19Speaker 3: decent enough rebounder.
- 32:21Speaker 2: You know what I saw? I saw Patrick Ewing, right?
- 32:25Speaker 3: I remember seeing, oh, Patrick Ewing, drop.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Step, fade away. I saw the skill set.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I didn't see the meanness. I saw a nice dude
- 32:36Speaker 3: to talk to, in a way. He's a good dude
- 32:38Speaker 3: to talk to. But I didn't see the mean. I
- 32:40Speaker 3: didn't see the nasty. And I'm like, man, I hope
- 32:43Speaker 3: he gets it somewhere along the way. And then it
- 32:46Speaker 3: doesn't happen. And then when Portland drafts someone to take
- 32:50Speaker 3: his job a year after they get him, he becomes
- 32:54Speaker 3: the kid's biggest mentor and cheerleader. yo, you sitting somebody
- 32:58Speaker 3: to take, you trying to take my spot, Flash? I'm
- 33:01Speaker 3: not going to encourage you to take my spot.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I'm going at your neck. Somehow.
- 33:08Speaker 1: They just bought him out.
- 33:09Speaker 3: They bought him out, which shows you how much they
- 33:13Speaker 3: want you to go. Like, whatever you've done, and remember,
- 33:17Speaker 3: Chauncey Billups is not one of these fire and brimstone
- 33:21Speaker 3: head coaches. He's a former player who is very sympathetic
- 33:25Speaker 3: to players. This is not one of these PJ Carlissimo
- 33:29Speaker 3: type dudes who don't have any, you know, lack of
- 33:31Speaker 3: a better phrase, like an understanding of today's player, like
- 33:33Speaker 3: Chauncey understands today's player. And he's like, nah, this ain't it.
- 33:37Speaker 3: So now you're going to send, listen to this part, bro.
- 33:41Speaker 3: You're going to send DeAndre Ayton, Not to LeBron James' team.
- 33:45Speaker 3: You're going to send DeAndre Ayton to J.J.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Redick's team?
- 33:48Speaker 3: Do you want that man to have a heart attack
- 33:51Speaker 3: on the sidelines?
- 33:53Speaker 2: Do you want to see.
- 33:53Speaker 3: That man's vein in his neck pop out during an
- 33:59Speaker 3: actual game? That's what y'all want to see? You want
- 34:01Speaker 3: to see Rob Pelinka?
- 34:03Speaker 2: Okay, cool. Go ahead. Entertainment.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Let me throw the other level on this. Forgive me
- 34:09Speaker 1: if I interrupted you. We got a little internet traffic
- 34:12Speaker 1: lag game, right? But I was gonna throw this out
- 34:14Speaker 1: here at you. We got the one year that you
- 34:17Speaker 1: could rest assured that you're going to get tip-top shape
- 34:20Speaker 1: Luka Doncic. And I say this because I watched Shaquille
- 34:23Speaker 1: O'Neal play basketball for 20 years, okay? Get a new coach,
- 34:27Speaker 1: make a move to a new team or whatever, you
- 34:30Speaker 1: gonna get it, all right? But people are who they are, okay?
- 34:35Speaker 1: Luka did not turn into a new person. If he
- 34:37Speaker 1: does not have that dedication and that vigilance about it,
- 34:42Speaker 1: then it's not naturally within him. I don't think you're
- 34:45Speaker 1: going to develop it in an off season because people
- 34:48Speaker 1: were picking on you. That's not it, right? And so
- 34:51Speaker 1: with Shaq, Shaq year 2000, for example, that MVP year,
- 34:54Speaker 1: we never saw Shaq like that before. We never saw
- 34:57Speaker 1: Shaq like that after. The next year, he was still
- 34:59Speaker 1: pretty good, but that's when we start. Isn't that when
- 35:01Speaker 1: we started getting into, I got hurt on company time,
- 35:03Speaker 1: so I heal on company time, right? Like that's when
- 35:06Speaker 1: we started.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a year after that, but you're right. You're right.
- 35:08Speaker 3: We start trending in that area, but you're right.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Because he is who he is. And I'm not
- 35:14Speaker 1: saying that, I'm not trying to say that it's an
- 35:16Speaker 1: insult necessarily, but I'm just saying that's his inclination. Kobe
- 35:20Speaker 1: Bryant was that from day one. LeBron James was that
- 35:24Speaker 1: from day one. Luka Doncic at 25 or 26 years old,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I don't think you're going to suddenly turn into that guy.
- 35:31Speaker 1: So you're going to get that guy this year. And
- 35:34Speaker 1: then you're going to bring in a dude who's been
- 35:36Speaker 1: acting like a loser for the last three, four years?
- 35:39Speaker 3: No, I look up a name. I will look up
- 35:43Speaker 3: a name. I will give you a name of a
- 35:44Speaker 3: player who may dispute that. May dispute that. I'm looking
- 35:49Speaker 3: up his age.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I will give you a.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Three-time MVP who got in the best shape of his
- 35:55Speaker 3: life at age 27 after they shipped away one of
- 36:00Speaker 3: his drinking buddies.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Let me hit you with a counterpoint on that. Because
- 36:06Speaker 1: who you are talking about is Larry Joe Byrd. Right?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Larry Bird's problem could be fixed by trading his drinking buddy.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Luka Doncic is the drinking buddy. everybody mama swear the
- 36:32Speaker 1: other one is the problem right like they i put
- 36:36Speaker 1: it to you like this and for those of you
- 36:37Speaker 1: who don't know this story i want to say it
- 36:40Speaker 1: is in the year 1984 the uh celtics traded rick
- 36:44Speaker 1: robey to phoenix for dennis johnson And the big reason
- 36:49Speaker 1: was that Rick Robey was dragging Larry Bird down. And
- 36:53Speaker 1: so they got him out of there. They brought in
- 36:54Speaker 1: Dennis Johnson. Obviously, they want two more championships.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:58Speaker 1: This is this is this is it. I totally get it.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Our problem with Luca has not been he spent too
- 37:05Speaker 1: much time hanging with nobody, right? We don't quite have
- 37:10Speaker 1: the answer to what that is. And I will just
- 37:13Speaker 1: also note that while it's not the same thing, Larry
- 37:16Speaker 1: Bird threw out his back running a jackhammer in his
- 37:18Speaker 1: own driveway, which implies not the greatest dedication to his
- 37:23Speaker 1: physical fitness for basketball.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Or just decision-making.
- 37:27Speaker 1: In a different way, right?
- 37:29Speaker 2: Not in an amazing way. Just decision-making. That's all. Just decision-making.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Not the smartest move. That's all.
- 37:35Speaker 1: You're not locked in enough on the task. Like, this
- 37:39Speaker 1: is not what it is. So maybe you're right, okay?
- 37:43Speaker 1: Maybe Luka can go and he can turn this thing
- 37:46Speaker 1: into whatever it is. I'm just saying the only one
- 37:49Speaker 1: we can be sure of is this one. This is
- 37:54Speaker 1: the chance. This is the opportunity. What we get with LeBron,
- 37:57Speaker 1: I have no idea what is going to happen. But
- 38:01Speaker 1: they do need a center. I would take old Al
- 38:04Speaker 1: Horford before I took DeAndre Ayton.
- 38:09Speaker 3: I mean, look, the question becomes, do you try to
- 38:14Speaker 3: fill all of your needs now? Or do you keep
- 38:18Speaker 3: a little powder dry, see what happens in the regular season,
- 38:22Speaker 3: and then see if you can get, I would say
- 38:24Speaker 3: see if you can get a Walker Kessler out of Utah,
- 38:26Speaker 3: but that means you got to deal with Danny Ainge. Nah,
- 38:29Speaker 3: let's just move on from there because Danny Ainge is
- 38:31Speaker 3: going to try to.
- 38:32Speaker 1: You're not going to win that trade. Nope.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Rob you for all that you got, right?
- 38:38Speaker 3: I'm a proponent of don't just go and chase bad
- 38:41Speaker 3: money just because you need to fill a position. I
- 38:44Speaker 3: am a proponent of you not coming in the training
- 38:47Speaker 3: camp with nobody there because especially on LeBron James' team,
- 38:53Speaker 3: If you have nobody there, what happens? LeBron James says,
- 38:56Speaker 3: all right, y'all, I'll do it. You can't have LeBron
- 38:59Speaker 3: doing that no more. He's not at the stage of
- 39:01Speaker 3: his career that you can do that. And the question
- 39:04Speaker 3: I have in general for LeBron and Luka Doncic, Bo,
- 39:07Speaker 3: is can you fulfill all the objectives for what Luka
- 39:12Speaker 3: Doncic needs and for what LeBron James needs all at
- 39:16Speaker 3: the same time? The only thing they both need in
- 39:19Speaker 3: conjunction is... athletic wings that can help defend because neither
- 39:25Speaker 3: one of them are equipped to do it. But LeBron
- 39:27Speaker 3: needs shooting and Luka needs vertical spacing. You can't go
- 39:30Speaker 3: get that when you get two players on super big
- 39:34Speaker 3: boy maxes. Back to your point, you can't do that
- 39:37Speaker 3: in today's league. You can't go and get mid-level exception.
- 39:40Speaker 3: And not all maxes are, when I say big boy maxes,
- 39:44Speaker 3: the rookie max, totally different.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Then the big boy max.
- 39:48Speaker 3: The big boy, that extra 5%, that extra 10% is
- 39:52Speaker 3: a huge, huge change in what you can afford and
- 39:55Speaker 3: what you cannot afford in the open market. And you
- 39:58Speaker 3: get two dudes on super big boy maxes that leaves
- 40:02Speaker 3: you next. They, bro, they make $ 100 million together on
- 40:06Speaker 3: the same team.
- 40:08Speaker 2: What are we doing?
- 40:10Speaker 1: It's tough, man. It's tough, tough, tough. But I got it.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Two things I want to hit before we get out
- 40:18Speaker 1: of here. One, both kind of quickly, but we'll get
- 40:21Speaker 1: it right. One of them is we talked about Denver.
- 40:24Speaker 1: And I think Denver did a lot by doing a
- 40:27Speaker 1: little because Denver's problem was depth. Denver's problems was depth
- 40:31Speaker 1: and an unreliability of Michael Porter Jr., which I attribute
- 40:39Speaker 1: to his body, not because there was something wrong with him.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I don't think we talked nearly enough about what it
- 40:44Speaker 1: takes for Porter to simply play basketball. All the contraptions
- 40:48Speaker 1: they got because it dropped foot and stuff like that.
- 40:50Speaker 1: They traded here for Cam Johnson. They are not the
- 40:53Speaker 1: exact same player, but they are reasonable facsimiles of one another.
- 40:56Speaker 1: And Cam Johnson is going to give them much of
- 40:58Speaker 1: what they hope to get. out of Michael Porter, right?
- 41:02Speaker 1: They got Bruce Brown. And the big one is Jonas
- 41:04Speaker 1: Valachunas gives them something they have not had, which is
- 41:07Speaker 1: an actual real live backup to Jokic because they just
- 41:10Speaker 1: get destroyed in the non-Jokic minutes. I think they back up.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Like I'm not saying they're the best team in the West,
- 41:17Speaker 1: but they back up.
- 41:20Speaker 3: I think, look at the fact that you got Cam
- 41:23Speaker 3: Johnson who shot 39% from three on seven threes a night.
- 41:29Speaker 3: and he wasn't playing with Nikola Jokic? Do you mean
- 41:32Speaker 3: to tell me what type of looks he's going to
- 41:34Speaker 3: go get? They get Tim Hardaway Jr., who's just a
- 41:37Speaker 3: capable vet? Just a capable vet. Think about it like this, Bo.
- 41:42Speaker 3: If Aaron Gordon's hamstring was not made of paper mache
- 41:46Speaker 3: a couple of months ago, they may beat the eventual
- 41:50Speaker 3: NBA champions, the 68-win NBA champions in a seven-game slugfest,
- 41:56Speaker 3: and all I needed was a second guy. All I
- 41:58Speaker 3: needed was a second dude that I could depend on
- 42:02Speaker 3: while I take on the bulk of everything else, of
- 42:05Speaker 3: all the responsibility. And you go and get me a
- 42:08Speaker 3: couple of dudes. That speaks to me and says to
- 42:10Speaker 3: me a bunch of different things. Remember how Boston won
- 42:14Speaker 3: the championship last year and everybody said, oh, Boston's going
- 42:18Speaker 3: to go on a run. And everybody in the East
- 42:20Speaker 3: just better pack up for the next couple of years
- 42:22Speaker 3: because Boston's on it. The Knicks of all teams said,
- 42:25Speaker 3: we're going to go get Carl Towns and Mikael Bridges.
- 42:28Speaker 3: And then they put the Celtics out. Mitigating circumstances, a
- 42:31Speaker 3: bunch of stuff.
- 42:32Speaker 2: You know, Chris S.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Porzingis got the cooties and all that, but they put
- 42:35Speaker 3: the Celtics out even before Jason Tatum went down with
- 42:37Speaker 3: that Achilles. Now you look at the 68-win champs and
- 42:41Speaker 3: you see Houston loading up, Denver's loading up. We can't
- 42:44Speaker 3: even talk about the Lakers or Golden State or any
- 42:46Speaker 3: of these other teams or Dallas.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Because these other teams are chasing you and chasing you
- 42:53Speaker 2: with aggression.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Denver didn't even have the resources and got back up,
- 42:57Speaker 3: making a lot out of a little. We might be
- 43:00Speaker 3: spending next June in Denver if Nikola Jokic is healthy
- 43:03Speaker 3: and that team is put together.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Look, what I don't like about this CBA, and in
- 43:08Speaker 1: line with what you just said, having the best team,
- 43:12Speaker 1: having the best player in the NBA should make you
- 43:13Speaker 1: a contender for a title.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Yes. Like, I don't like this idea that they have
- 43:18Speaker 1: the best. He's still the best player in the NBA.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Great job, buddy. Ain't no hating, baby. But number one
- 43:24Speaker 1: guy is still that dude over there. That should make
- 43:27Speaker 1: you a championship contender. Instead, they just did not have
- 43:30Speaker 1: the depth, right? They could not keep the guys. And
- 43:33Speaker 1: we're talking about keeping guys like Bruce Brown. You know
- 43:35Speaker 1: what I mean? Like the dudes that we're talking about
- 43:37Speaker 1: them needing to keep in order to keep it up
- 43:38Speaker 1: and they couldn't. That is what I don't like. But
- 43:40Speaker 1: I think they managed to support. I think they managed
- 43:43Speaker 1: to put enough around him to where they don't have
- 43:45Speaker 1: to run him into the ground, right? They replaced. I
- 43:49Speaker 1: was always a big Porter guy. Like I am not
- 43:52Speaker 1: a big Jamal Murray guy. I think Jamal Murray is
- 43:55Speaker 1: entirely a product of playing with Nick Aliota. And we're
- 43:59Speaker 1: going to see how it goes with him with all
- 44:00Speaker 1: these injuries and how they stack up and how he
- 44:02Speaker 1: looked when he, when instead of playing with Jokic, he
- 44:04Speaker 1: had to play with dudes from Canada. You know, it
- 44:06Speaker 1: wasn't really, it wasn't really, it wasn't really hitting the same,
- 44:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? So we're going to see
- 44:12Speaker 1: it here. I don't want to cut, I hate to
- 44:14Speaker 1: cut that so short. I just have to, I have to,
- 44:17Speaker 1: I have to get this in. Okay. We talked on
- 44:20Speaker 1: Monday about Malik Beasley and I talked about it in
- 44:22Speaker 1: larger terms about how this gambling stuff is going to
- 44:25Speaker 1: be a thing and everything else. Just, you know, Not
- 44:27Speaker 1: kicking a dead horse because the horse is still limping around.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I'm just making sure y'all know I've been talking about
- 44:31Speaker 1: this for a minute. But the Detroit News, your alma mater,
- 44:36Speaker 1: put out a story about Malik Beasley, formerly of the
- 44:38Speaker 1: Detroit Pistons, who I don't think will be of the
- 44:40Speaker 1: Detroit Pistons. And you had not seen this, which is
- 44:43Speaker 1: disappointing because you're one of the few people who's outside
- 44:46Speaker 1: of Detroit who actually has a Detroit News subscription. And therefore,
- 44:50Speaker 1: you could have seen this article that I had to
- 44:52Speaker 1: trust snippets that came from other people. I'm going to
- 44:56Speaker 1: read you some things about who he owes money to.
- 45:04Speaker 1: And I quote, in March, Beasley was sued in Detroit's
- 45:08Speaker 1: 36th District Court for failing to pay $ 14, 150 in rent
- 45:12Speaker 1: at the Stott. The historic high-rise apartment building in downtown
- 45:16Speaker 1: Detroit is owned by Bedrock Detroit, the real estate arm
- 45:19Speaker 1: of the business empire built.
- 45:21Speaker 2: By Dan Gilbert.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Take a guess. There you go.
- 45:25Speaker 2: There you go.
- 45:27Speaker 1: That's right. So Malik Beasley owes his landlord Dan Gilbert. Okay.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I have more. Last month, Beasley was sued again by
- 45:38Speaker 1: the stock for failing to pay $ 7, 355. A hearing is
- 45:41Speaker 1: scheduled for July 15th. Oh, a couple of weeks.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Okay.
- 45:43Speaker 1: In January... A celebrity barbershop with a long roster of
- 45:53Speaker 1: NBA stars won a $ 26, 827 judgment against Beasley. The barbershop,
- 46:01Speaker 1: Cairo Cuts, operates in Milwaukee, where Beasley paid for the
- 46:04Speaker 1: Milwaukee Bucks from 2022 to 2024. How do you run
- 46:07Speaker 1: up a $ 27, 000 bill at the barbershop?
- 46:13Speaker 2: I was about to ask that very... Who's getting haircuts?
- 46:17Speaker 2: How many kids you got? Do you got a bunch
- 46:19Speaker 2: of kids? Y'all on a friends and family plan? You
- 46:22Speaker 2: get a haircut every day?
- 46:23Speaker 1: Hold on. I need to know this, man. If y'all
- 46:27Speaker 1: from Milwaukee, tell me about what's going on at Cairo Cuts.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Because apparently, they cutting the fuck out of heads. Tell
- 46:36Speaker 1: me what they got. Tell me what they can do
- 46:38Speaker 1: for me. Because if that's what they... $ 26, 000. Okay, but wait.
- 46:44Speaker 2: There's more?
- 46:45Speaker 1: This is where we got more. In January, a Minnesota
- 46:49Speaker 1: dentist won a $ 34, 390 default judgment against Beasley, according to
- 46:55Speaker 1: court records. The dentist, Hassan Al-Shahabi of Delicate Smiles, started
- 47:01Speaker 1: garnishing Beasley's paychecks from the Pistons in February, court records show.
- 47:07Speaker 1: The debt has not subsided. been satisfied according to court documents.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Malik Beasley has made $ 60 million in the NBA. And
- 47:14Speaker 1: my question about that garnishment is, who else is on
- 47:17Speaker 1: his check if the dentist ain't got his $ 35, 000 yet? Because,
- 47:22Speaker 1: you know, don't forget Malik Beasley also once pulled the
- 47:25Speaker 1: yap on the wife and kids, right? Or the woman
- 47:27Speaker 1: and kids. I don't know if it was the wife,
- 47:29Speaker 1: but I'm assuming he got to send checks to them. I...
- 47:33Speaker 1: Tom Havishaw would a very good thing about how let's
- 47:36Speaker 1: be careful about being sure about what they're investigating Beasley
- 47:40Speaker 1: for because he had some compelling evidence that some of
- 47:42Speaker 1: what's come up, there's reason to believe that he did
- 47:44Speaker 1: not do the things that they said. And I think
- 47:46Speaker 1: that that's all totally fair. All that stuff is totally true. However,
- 47:51Speaker 1: them clips of him trying to hurry up and cover
- 47:53Speaker 1: the spread at the end. Oh, no, no, no, no.
- 47:55Speaker 1: I see what time it is there. And I got
- 47:57Speaker 1: to be honest, if you're the Pistons, After they start
- 48:00Speaker 1: garnishing checks, y'all got to start looking at these dudes
- 48:03Speaker 1: a little bit more closely, you dig?
- 48:06Speaker 2: It's a weird thing, right? Like, you owe Dan Gilbert.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Like, that is the wild thing to me.
- 48:14Speaker 1: A man that I don't think I would want to
- 48:16Speaker 1: owe money to. I don't think he has a sense
- 48:18Speaker 1: of humor about those things.
- 48:21Speaker 3: Dan Gilbert was a former bookie at Michigan State, right?
- 48:26Speaker 3: That's not slander, right?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 48:29Speaker 1: I hope that's right.
- 48:31Speaker 2: I hope the right time don't get sued for this.
- 48:33Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 48:34Speaker 3: But yeah, that's Dan. The pinky might be that man's
- 48:39Speaker 3: real name in East Lansing or something like that.
- 48:41Speaker 2: So, no, this is.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Bo, this is fascinating to me because, A, he was
- 48:47Speaker 3: about to sign three for 42. He was playing his
- 48:51Speaker 3: ass off last year. I think he came second in
- 48:55Speaker 3: threes to Anthony Edwards, who all of a sudden turned
- 48:58Speaker 3: to Klay Thompson, right? The bad thing for this is
- 49:02Speaker 3: you go back and you look at those games and
- 49:05Speaker 3: you're like, oh, yeah, he's trying to cover the spread.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Or the worst thing is, and I don't know if
- 49:09Speaker 3: you remember this, Bo, do you remember the last play
- 49:12Speaker 3: of the Pistons season last year? The very last play.
- 49:16Speaker 3: You probably don't. You remember the second to last play,
- 49:18Speaker 3: which was Jalen Brunson. The last play of the season
- 49:22Speaker 3: was a perfectly executed, out-of-bounds play to set up Malik
- 49:28Speaker 3: Beasley on the right wing for a wide-open three, which
- 49:31Speaker 3: would have tied the game and sent it to overtime.
- 49:34Speaker 1: That's right.
- 49:35Speaker 2: And he dropped the pass.
- 49:37Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that to say, oh, look at
- 49:39Speaker 3: what happened there. Because he hit six threes in the
- 49:42Speaker 3: second quarter when they were on the verge of getting
- 49:43Speaker 3: blown out. I say that to say, when stuff like
- 49:47Speaker 3: this comes up, people start becoming Twitter detectives, amateur-ass detectives,
- 49:52Speaker 3: and saying, look at that.
- 49:54Speaker 2: He threw the game.
- 49:55Speaker 3: And for me, if there is one sport that cannot
- 49:59Speaker 3: afford a scandal of integrity or of validity, it is
- 50:04Speaker 3: the NBA.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Because every time you look up, every single team that
- 50:09Speaker 3: wins a championship, everybody points to and says, oh, man,
- 50:12Speaker 3: the league.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Wanted Oklahoma City to win.
- 50:14Speaker 3: They wanted Oklahoma City to win?
- 50:18Speaker 1: What type of crack are you smoking?
- 50:20Speaker 3: But that's what people believe with the league. Oh, the
- 50:23Speaker 3: refs wanted this to happen. The league put Scott Foster here.
- 50:26Speaker 2: Blah, blah, blah.
- 50:27Speaker 3: And now you got to put the players and prop
- 50:29Speaker 3: bets and over-unders into this.
- 50:32Speaker 2: And man.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Ain't this just weird to talk about ain't even just
- 50:36Speaker 3: it's just weird to read.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Yeah and so i have this question for the league
- 50:42Speaker 1: are they going to reach a point where it's like
- 50:44Speaker 1: and there are there are jobs like this um we
- 50:47Speaker 1: got to run credit checks like can you afford to
- 50:50Speaker 1: sign a dude that owns a bunch owes a bunch
- 50:51Speaker 1: of people a bunch of money at this point in
- 50:54Speaker 1: time Because like, we're going to find out what it
- 50:57Speaker 1: comes down to with this dude. But if you want
- 50:59Speaker 1: to do just a straight line quip, we see how
- 51:01Speaker 1: it happens. We understand where these things go. Can you, again,
- 51:05Speaker 1: this dude made $ 60 million and he's apparently, I mean,
- 51:10Speaker 1: what is wrong with his teeth, by the way? I
- 51:11Speaker 1: don't think we got around to talking about that. Like,
- 51:15Speaker 1: he'd just been, you know, look, I had times where,
- 51:17Speaker 1: you know, I didn't have dental insurance. I was skipping it.
- 51:19Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? I got back. I ain't
- 51:21Speaker 1: have to do no $ 50, 000 worth of stuff, though. Like,
- 51:23Speaker 1: what's up with your grill, homie? What's your breath smell like?
- 51:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:30Speaker 3: I mean, I thought we, I thought we had health
- 51:33Speaker 3: insurance in the league though.
- 51:35Speaker 2: He never spent time out of the league. I don't,
- 51:38Speaker 2: as far as I, as far as I can remember.
- 51:40Speaker 1: No, but I want to say this though, and this
- 51:43Speaker 1: is very important. They investigated Terry Rozier and apparently nothing
- 51:47Speaker 1: has come up. Right. I don't, I think there's more coming.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong, but We can't go so far
- 51:54Speaker 1: to make these assumptions about what is actually happening.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 51:58Speaker 1: However, they're going to have to get this under control. Right.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Because what actually surprised me about that would be easily
- 52:04Speaker 1: was I felt like we had the era of these
- 52:07Speaker 1: dudes going broke is kind of gone away because they
- 52:10Speaker 1: get so caught up with people who help them take
- 52:12Speaker 1: care with their money and all that stuff so early now.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Like it's a much different world than it used to be.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Your money guy is far less likely to steal from you.
- 52:21Speaker 1: In this day and age, like, I don't think you're
- 52:22Speaker 1: going to end up with a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar type of situation.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Or Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Right, right, right. The industry that surrounds this is so
- 52:31Speaker 1: much better built out. Right. And these guys make so
- 52:34Speaker 1: much money that even if they get got, they can
- 52:37Speaker 1: build the stack back up pretty quick. But clearly this dude,
- 52:42Speaker 1: he ain't got it. Like I saw somebody on Twitter
- 52:45Speaker 1: make a response on one of these and was like,
- 52:46Speaker 1: if this is only $ 100, 000, all the money he makes,
- 52:49Speaker 1: he can obviously pay this back. Obviously he, but maybe
- 52:53Speaker 1: he can, but he didn't.
- 52:55Speaker 3: I mean, look, if you're getting garnished at that point,
- 52:59Speaker 3: you want to get that off. You want to get
- 53:02Speaker 3: that off of your paperwork ASAP because they're going to
- 53:05Speaker 3: take more than what someone's going to take more off
- 53:09Speaker 3: of that than what you actually owe.
- 53:11Speaker 2: So it behooves you to take care of that. It
- 53:14Speaker 2: was just unfortunate.
- 53:16Speaker 3: Like he was just going to sign a three and
- 53:17Speaker 3: 42 contract, not to say as soon as he signed
- 53:20Speaker 3: this money, everybody was going to get paid.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Like that's usually not necessarily how it works. But Bo,
- 53:26Speaker 2: what are we doing here?
- 53:27Speaker 3: Like, like you said, I thought we were out of
- 53:28Speaker 3: this era and apparently, and maybe we're not, but when
- 53:32Speaker 3: you add all those things up together and then he's
- 53:34Speaker 3: getting investigated by the feds, It removes a level of
- 53:39Speaker 3: benefit of the doubt. And that's the unfortunate thing for
- 53:42Speaker 3: him is that people will look at him and say,
- 53:45Speaker 3: you don't get benefit of the doubt anymore.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Hey man, let me ask you this. You ever had
- 53:51Speaker 1: them hop up on your check before? I ain't never
- 53:57Speaker 1: had them hop up on my check. I did once
- 53:59Speaker 1: have the state, erroneously, that's the word I'm looking for here,
- 54:03Speaker 1: erroneously hop up and scoop my whole bank account one day, boy.
- 54:07Speaker 1: That is embarrassing. Man, the motherfucker. Instead of adding, instead
- 54:14Speaker 1: of subtracting, they add it. Like, it really happened just
- 54:18Speaker 1: like that. Something that was supposed to go in one
- 54:19Speaker 1: column went in the other column. And I had to
- 54:22Speaker 1: call them because I was like, my shit was gone.
- 54:23Speaker 1: And I called the bank. Like, what's that code? And
- 54:25Speaker 1: they were like, oh, that's the state. That's the tax man.
- 54:28Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know what I'm joking. There's
- 54:29Speaker 1: no money in that column. They were like, oh, damn,
- 54:31Speaker 1: my bad. We put it in column B instead of
- 54:34Speaker 1: column A. But it was Friday. I couldn't get no
- 54:38Speaker 1: money until Monday. How was you living for the weekend?
- 54:45Speaker 1: Like I used to, dog. Figuring it out. That's what
- 54:49Speaker 1: I was doing. Figuring it out. Let me tell you something.
- 54:52Speaker 1: That wasn't the first time I had no money till Monday.
- 54:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? I don't even remember what
- 54:59Speaker 1: I did. This is after I was on TV. So
- 55:01Speaker 1: I'm in the restaurant getting ready to go to Around
- 55:03Speaker 1: the Horn. I got my suit on. They know it's me.
- 55:06Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? And they just hopped in
- 55:08Speaker 1: and got me for my shit, right? But I can't
- 55:11Speaker 1: imagine nothing more embarrassing. I'm talking to people that's like
- 55:14Speaker 1: that when they call your job and that means there's
- 55:16Speaker 1: at least one person at your job that knows that
- 55:19Speaker 1: they hopping in and taking your bread. There's at least one.
- 55:22Speaker 1: And let me tell you something, that person, whoever handles payroll,
- 55:27Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? Office manager, whoever run the checks,
- 55:31Speaker 1: they the ones that was like, hey, I don't know, man.
- 55:33Speaker 1: You see the way he dropped that pass? I don't
- 55:37Speaker 1: know if y'all know this, but uh, His dentist hopped
- 55:41Speaker 1: up in his check.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Now you're thinking about the man's grill.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Yo, man, like what is wrong with you? I mean,
- 55:51Speaker 1: apparently his grill is fine, but I ain't seen no
- 55:53Speaker 1: diamonds in that bitch. Like what is what's going on
- 55:57Speaker 1: in your mouth, dog? He can't pay the rent. He
- 56:02Speaker 1: can't pay for his teeth. And by the way, shout
- 56:03Speaker 1: out to him. You ain't got the money, but you
- 56:05Speaker 1: still take care of your teeth, man. That's teaching your
- 56:08Speaker 1: kids the right way, I suppose. The barber, and by
- 56:11Speaker 1: the way, let me tell you something, man. I'm glad
- 56:13Speaker 1: that Cairo Cuts took him to court because I don't
- 56:16Speaker 1: know about your experience with barbers and not every barber
- 56:18Speaker 1: I've had, just to be clear, but I feel like
- 56:21Speaker 1: barbers are a profession that are likely to adjudicate matters
- 56:25Speaker 1: on their own.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Fist to cuffs. If you're lucky. Or something. Hey, you
- 56:34Speaker 2: seen Belly?
- 56:35Speaker 1: I was thinking pistol cuffs.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:39Speaker 1: If you want to combine the pistol and the fist
- 56:41Speaker 1: of cuffs together, that's everybody's favorite friend, the pistol whip.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Look, how much did you really owe the barber for
- 56:52Speaker 3: the barber to win that type of judgment?
- 56:55Speaker 2: Okay, because clearly.
- 56:56Speaker 3: There's legal fees and everything else, but how many haircuts
- 56:59Speaker 3: How many times do you get your hair cut? Clearly,
- 57:02Speaker 3: you get your hair cut, you get your teeth right.
- 57:05Speaker 3: How many times do you get your hair cut in Milwaukee?
- 57:07Speaker 3: Where do you have to go in Milwaukee that you
- 57:10Speaker 3: got to be fresh that often? If you're in LA,
- 57:14Speaker 3: I can swallow that.
- 57:16Speaker 1: But why did you keep cutting his hair?
- 57:18Speaker 2: That's a great point.
- 57:21Speaker 1: At some point, you're just going to have to be raggedy, homie.
- 57:24Speaker 1: great point right now granted who know I just maybe
- 57:26Speaker 1: interest racked up and that'd be the fun part too
- 57:29Speaker 1: if the barber added on his own interest like at
- 57:31Speaker 1: the at the bank at Cairo Mutual they stack that
- 57:38Speaker 1: up I have no idea but yo damn like Malik
- 57:44Speaker 1: Beasley you are officially known as the brokest ass of
- 57:47Speaker 1: the whole NBA dog that is that is.
- 57:55Speaker 3: When he comes back and plays, the trash talk will
- 58:00Speaker 3: be merciless.
- 58:02Speaker 1: I'm going to be out here with him like, hey man,
- 58:04Speaker 1: you need anything? Do you need to go get a
- 58:11Speaker 1: rebound right quick? We're getting all the boards today. We're
- 58:15Speaker 1: getting all the rebounds today. I got the over, he
- 58:18Speaker 1: got the under.
- 58:19Speaker 3: I saw somebody have the child support people Run up
- 58:23Speaker 3: on them as soon as they left the floor.
- 58:28Speaker 1: That, by the way, happens all the time. That is underrated.
- 58:32Speaker 1: I talked to one Hall of Fame caliber player talking
- 58:35Speaker 1: about somebody. They come to get you at the games
- 58:37Speaker 1: because you can't go nowhere.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Because they know where you at.
- 58:41Speaker 1: The whole game of the team figuring out how to
- 58:43Speaker 1: get the process server to another place. Yeah, that happens.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I think we may have come up with the voicemail
- 58:50Speaker 1: topic for the day. Ladies and gentlemen, that is Vinny Goodwill.
