- 0:14I'm Taylor. And I'm Tyler.
- 0:17This is Scripture. Central's Come Follow Me
- 0:19insights. Today, a special Christmas
- 0:22episode. What a beautiful.
- 0:24Season of the Year as we celebrate the coming of the Son
- 0:27of God into into the earth. And we wanted to do something a
- 0:33little different with this particular episode.
- 0:36Since this is the last time in our four year cycle of doing
- 0:40these Christmas programs, we wanted to focus this one
- 0:44exclusively on the words about His birth and his life that come
- 0:49to us from the scriptures, both Old Testament and Book of
- 0:53Mormon, as well as specifically from the New Testament.
- 0:56In addition to those scriptures, we're also going to intersperse
- 0:59a few special musical numbers along the way.
- 1:04Hope you enjoy. For unto us a child is born,
- 1:10unto us a son is given and his. Name.
- 1:13Shall be called Wonderful counsellor.
- 1:17The Mighty God. The Everlasting Father, the
- 1:21Prince of. Peace, Behold, a virgin shall
- 1:24conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.
- 1:29And the Virgin whom thou seest, is the mother of the Son of God,
- 1:32after the manner of the flesh. And I looked.
- 1:34And beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms.
- 1:39And the Angel said unto me, Behold the Lamb of God, yeah.
- 1:42Even the Son of the Eternal. Father.
- 1:45And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the
- 1:49children of men, and I saw many fall down at his feet and
- 1:53worship him. For behold.
- 1:55The time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power the
- 1:59Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was and is from all eternity
- 2:03to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children
- 2:07of men, and shall dwell in a Tabernacle of clay, and shall go
- 2:11forth amongst the men, working mighty miracles, such as healing
- 2:16the sick, raising the dead, causing the lane to walk, the
- 2:20blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing
- 2:24all manner of diseases. For behold, I say unto you,
- 2:28there are many things to come, and behold, there is one thing
- 2:32which is of more importance than they all.
- 2:34For behold, the time is not far distant that the Redeemer liveth
- 2:38and cometh among his people. For behold, the Kingdom of
- 2:41heaven is at hand. And the.
- 2:43Son of God. Cometh upon the face.
- 2:45Of the earth. And behold, he shall be born of
- 2:48Mary at Jerusalem, which is the land of our forefathers,
- 2:52achieving a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be
- 2:55overshadowed and conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost.
- 2:58And bring forth a son. Yeah, even the Son of God.
- 3:02Behold, I give unto you a sign. For five years more cometh, and
- 3:06behold, then cometh the Son of God, to redeem all those who
- 3:10shall believe on his name. And behold, this will I give
- 3:13unto you for a sign at the time of his coming.
- 3:16For behold, there shall be great lights in heaven in so much that
- 3:18in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness in so
- 3:21much that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.
- 3:24Therefore there shall be. One day.
- 3:26And a night. And a day.
- 3:27As if it were one day and there were no night.
- 3:30And behold, there shall a new star arise, such an one as ye
- 3:33never have beheld. And this also shall be a sign
- 3:36unto you. And behold, this is not all.
- 3:39There shall be. Signs and wonders in Heaven and
- 3:41it. Shall come to pass.
- 3:42That ye shall be amazed and wonder in so much.
- 3:46That ye shall fall to the earth. And it shall come to pass, that
- 3:49whosoever shall believe on the Son of God, the same shall have
- 3:52everlasting life. Lift up your head, and be with
- 3:55good cheer, For behold, the time is at hand, and on this night
- 4:01shall the Son be given, and on the Morrow come I into the
- 4:04world, to show unto the world that I will fulfill all the
- 4:09words which. I have.
- 4:10Caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.
- 4:14Behold, I come unto my own to fulfill all things which I have
- 4:17made known unto the children of men from the foundations of the
- 4:20world. Now the birth of Jesus Christ
- 4:23was on this wise. When, as his mother, Mary was
- 4:27espoused to Joseph before they came together, she was found
- 4:32with child of the Holy Ghost. The Angel Gabriel was sent from
- 4:36God unto a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused
- 4:40to a man. His name was Joseph of the House
- 4:42of David, and the Virgin's name was Mary.
- 4:44And the Angel came in unto. Her and said, Hail, thou art.
- 4:48Highly favored. The Lord is with thee.
- 4:50Blessed art thou among women. And the Angel said unto her,
- 4:53Hear not Mary, for thou hast found favor with God.
- 4:57And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth the
- 5:01Son, and shall call his name Jesus.
- 5:05He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest.
- 5:07And the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father
- 5:10David. And he shall reign over the
- 5:12House of Jacob Forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no
- 5:16end. Oh God, nothing shall be
- 5:19impossible. And Mary said, Behold, the
- 5:22handmaid of the Lord read unto me according to thy word.
- 5:26And the Angel departed from her. And it came to pass.
- 5:29In those days, there went out a. Decree from Caesar.
- 5:32Augustus that all the. World should be.
- 5:34Taxed and all? Went to be taxed.
- 5:36Everyone into. His own city.
- 5:38And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of
- 5:41Nazareth into Judea, into the city of David, which is called
- 5:45Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David.
- 5:49To be taxed with Mary, his espoused wife, who is very good
- 5:52child. And so was that, while they were
- 5:54there, the days were accomplished that she.
- 5:56Should be delivered. And she brought forth her first
- 5:59born son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him
- 6:02in a Manger, because there was no room for them in the end.
- 6:05And there. Were in the.
- 6:06Same country Shepherds. Abiding in the field.
- 6:08Keeping watch over their flock. By night and lo, the Angel of
- 6:11the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around
- 6:15them, and they. Were sore afraid.
- 6:19And the Angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring
- 6:23you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
- 6:27For unto you is born in this day in the city of David a Savior,
- 6:31which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto
- 6:35you. You shall find the babe wrapped
- 6:37and swaddling clothes and lying in a Manger.
- 6:40And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the
- 6:43heavenly host praising God. And saying.
- 6:45Glory to God in the highest on earth.
- 6:47Peace. With will towards men.
- 6:50And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them
- 6:53into heaven. The shepherd said one to
- 6:56another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing
- 7:01which has come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto
- 7:05us. And they came with haste and
- 7:08found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in a Manger.
- 7:11And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying
- 7:16which was told them concerning this child.
- 7:19And all they that heard it wondered at those things which
- 7:21were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things
- 7:25and pondered them in her heart. Now when Jesus was born in
- 7:29Bethlehem. Of Judea in the.
- 7:31Days of Herod. The Great.
- 7:33Behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.
- 7:37Saying where is he that is born king of the Jews?
- 7:42For we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship.
- 7:50Him and. When they were coming to the.
- 7:51House they saw. The young child with Mary his.
- 7:54Father and. Fell down and.
- 7:56Worshiped him. And when they had opened their
- 7:59treasures, they presented unto him gifts gold, frankincense,
- 8:03and myrrh. And the child grew and waxed.
- 8:06Strong in spirit. Filled with wisdom and the grace
- 8:09of God was upon him. And he shall be called to Jesus
- 8:12Christ the Son of God, and he shall go.
- 8:15For suffering, pains and. Afflictions and temptations of
- 8:18every kind. And he will take upon him death,
- 8:21but he may loose the bands of death which bind his people.
- 8:25And He will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may
- 8:29be filled with mercy according to the flesh, that he may know
- 8:33according to the flesh, how to succor His people according to
- 8:37their infirmities. And lo he cometh unto his own
- 8:42that salvation might come unto the children of men, even
- 8:46through faith on his name. For God so loved to the world,
- 8:50that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
- 8:54him should not perish that had everlasting life.
- 14:00We hope in this beautiful season of the year that you feel anew
- 14:04the joy of the love of Jesus Christ who came to this world
- 14:07and has come into our lives. And one more time, I want to
- 14:11share a beautiful insight that has had a huge impact in my
- 14:14life, shared with me by Ron Fransen many years ago up in
- 14:20Brigham City. He shared this idea that many
- 14:23people, when they're struggling, are intimidated by the image of
- 14:28the resurrected, glorified, perfected Christ.
- 14:32That when they feel unworthy, when they feel broken, they
- 14:36sometimes feel like they can't approach the Savior in in this
- 14:43glorified perspective. But he said, isn't it amazing
- 14:47that every year Heavenly Father gives us an opportunity and an
- 14:52even an invitation to come and bend the knee and worship the
- 14:59newborn king? And if you picture holding that
- 15:02little baby Jesus, this, this perfect being who before coming
- 15:10to this earth had had created worlds without number, had
- 15:13infinite power and glory and wisdom, and now He's on the
- 15:18earth with us. He's become like us, and our
- 15:22invitation is to come. Let us adore him, come to the
- 15:28Manger, and worship him this Christmas season, and nobody can
- 15:33be intimidated by a little infant, a newborn king.
- 15:39And perhaps if we can do that, then it will give us the courage
- 15:45to come unto the glorified, resurrected, and perfected
- 15:51Christ, your personal Savior and Redeemer, and to be purified and
- 15:57cleansed through Him. How we love Him we know He
- 16:01lives. We know that there is no other
- 16:05lasting joy or happiness outside of the path that he has has
- 16:12marked and walked and is willing to walk with us as we move
- 16:16forward in faith with Him. So with that, we wish you a very
- 16:21Merry Christmas and hope that you will feel of heaven's light,
- 16:25love and grace during this beautiful season of the year.
- 16:30And we leave that with you in the sacred name of Jesus Christ.
- 16:33Amen. Know that you're loved.
- 16:36And spread light and goodness. Merry Christmas.
