- 0:13Now let's get to this week's show.
- 0:23My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:26I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking down crying.
- 0:35It turns out that Attila the arrogant so and so he's got a
- 0:38fake hammer. Oh.
- 0:40A fake Whoa. As I say.
- 0:50So welcome to episode 85 of the Relations Podcast, and this week
- 0:54we have the 1st dinner interviews for the Road to
- 0:58Legions Con, which is a little bit shorter this year.
- 1:01We're starting it a little bit later on purpose for our own
- 1:05sanity and we also decided to try and we did a lot of shows
- 1:09last year with crossing over with, you know, other shows and
- 1:12stuff like this. This year we're going to focus
- 1:13on actual people at the con and not and people, if they have the
- 1:17other shows, they can do their thing on their shows and we can
- 1:21do crossovers with them out of legions Con season maybe.
- 1:24So first up we have our main man, the leader of the first
- 1:28Lions, Kings under the mountain, Anton of the Forge.
- 1:31It's Anthony. How seal?
- 1:33How are you, Anthony? Hey guys, How's it going?
- 1:35I'm doing pretty good. And Mal, we got, we got no rich
- 1:39this week. Mal, it's just you.
- 1:40We haven't. I heard his teeth chattering
- 1:43when we mentioned Anthony was going to be on and then I don't
- 1:45know, he's just not showed up. It's.
- 1:48There may have been a picture that was submitted in our little
- 1:51chat group that may have just reawoken some old fears.
- 1:56Yeah, I should. Oh, I should have actually.
- 1:58I should have actually brought that picture on on for the
- 2:01screen. Maybe I'll pop it up on the
- 2:02screen in the editor. But yeah, there's a, there's a
- 2:08yeah, Dwarf loving man with the sword, Yeah.
- 2:10And rich somewhere in the background.
- 2:12Whether he's in this photo or not, we're not sure, but he was
- 2:14definitely in the vicinity. We know he was in the room.
- 2:17Yeah, he got the stink eye later with the sword, so yeah.
- 2:24So yeah. Anthony, how are you all
- 2:26prepared for Allegiance Con? Are you ready to go?
- 2:30If you would have asked me before Retro Con I would have
- 2:34said yes. I was surprised and very happy
- 2:39with the support from the community that came out to the
- 2:42the retro Retro Con show just a few weeks ago.
- 2:46So now I I've really taken a point to not get worked up
- 2:52anxious anything like that towards the show this year.
- 2:56But I won't lie, I feel a little jittery needing to get caught
- 3:00back up on some stuff. I, I thought I was further ahead
- 3:04and things, so I, I taken on some, some subcontracting work,
- 3:07some farm work for some guys to get some things squared away.
- 3:09I'm like, OK, I'll this one's done.
- 3:12This one's done, this one's done.
- 3:13Now I'm going all right, now I need to hurry up and get these
- 3:15guys done because now I need to kind of jump back in and get
- 3:18some more stuff ready to go for the show.
- 3:20I need to finish up a few more customs and things like that.
- 3:22So I'm not not panicking, but I'm definitely going, Oh, it's,
- 3:28it's getting a little closer than I thought.
- 3:29So we're OK this year. And and how did Retro Con go?
- 3:33I guess it was quite good. Retro Con was awesome.
- 3:37We had the Mid-Atlantic meet up. The Mammu or a lot of people
- 3:42have now since called it Jesse Con on on the Sunday.
- 3:47Yeah, yeah. So we had the Purple Gang gang
- 3:49up, we had Wolf King Customs, we had Pat Boyle, we had Nate
- 3:52Armstrong, we had Hedgehog Action, Joe Vassapolo or
- 3:57Vassapolio as they now are calling him in the gang gang
- 4:00group we had. Who else did we have?
- 4:06We had Guy segue Echevarria there as well.
- 4:11I'm. Glad you said that.
- 4:13We had dub dub there. It was a, it was a whole lot of
- 4:17people. I, I, I'm, I'm going to forget
- 4:19names, so I'll just leave it at, you know, at that.
- 4:21But we had a huge, a huge turn out, great support for for all
- 4:26the tables that were there, some paint sessions by Pat Boyle,
- 4:30some part swaps they had their people are able to bring stuff
- 4:33and swap things around. So it was really, really, really
- 4:36great time for everyone to be there.
- 4:39And it's one of my not counting Legions kind because Legions
- 4:41kind is more of a specific niche kind of a show.
- 4:45But if I were to look at the general spectrum of the shows
- 4:48throughout the year that I'm able to go to retro con is my
- 4:50favorite just because of the location.
- 4:52It's it's proximity to me and just what's available there
- 4:56between retro and modern stuff. And then us able to set up our
- 4:59legions, our little corner, because they literally gave us
- 5:04the corner of of the of the hall to be able to set up the door
- 5:08stuff and be able to have the the tables there for the meet
- 5:11up. So it really, it really is
- 5:12something I look forward to every year.
- 5:15Awesome, I guess we were sitting over here in jealousy Mal, huh?
- 5:20Yeah, yeah, right. Well, a friend of mine went to
- 5:25Retro Con last year, but, you know, I couldn't afford to go.
- 5:29But here's one I'd like to get to at some point for sure.
- 5:33Well, now, when you come over and you land hotel house seal,
- 5:37we'll have a vacancy for you. We'll have candy.
- 5:40We'll have candy on the pillow. I mean, you know the song.
- 5:43You just have to say, hey, Anthony, and here I come.
- 5:45So you can say no to that. Yeah.
- 5:49No, that's probably. Some you know, the apart from
- 5:52the flight, that's the most expensive part in the trip, so
- 5:54you know if you can get that sorted.
- 5:56Yeah, it helps. It helps out, you know.
- 5:58Anyway, Anyway, the community, the community can help out each
- 6:01other, whether it's something as simple as, Hey man, I got a
- 6:04place you can crash, you know, for a night or two, or, you
- 6:07know, we, we really try to make things, you know, home,
- 6:09especially when you're at someone else's region of the, of
- 6:13the country. The, the best thing that you can
- 6:16do is just try to make it, you know, as, as home or comforting
- 6:19or extend whatever kind of local things that you can to them to
- 6:24kind of really have them appreciate.
- 6:25Cause the show's hard 'cause you you're spending all the time at
- 6:28the show and then you're doing whatever, you don't really get a
- 6:30chance to go see some of the other sites in the area.
- 6:33So like I try to bring. The.
- 6:35The doughnuts, the tomato pie, you know, all that stuff that
- 6:38we, you know, we go out to a local cuisine or something like
- 6:40that to experience some of that. And so we really make up for a
- 6:44lot of that short period of time.
- 6:45But you know, if you were to say, hey, I'm going to be here
- 6:47for a couple days, take it up Valley Forge Park or, you know,
- 6:50some of the other things around the area, you know, But yeah, I,
- 6:54I, I really would think about Russia.
- 6:57I know it's too close is real close to legions time, but think
- 7:00about that for for next year. Yeah.
- 7:03Yeah, sounds awesome. I mean, that is the that is the
- 7:05single best thing about being involved in all this is the
- 7:08people you meet along the way and just the how nice people are
- 7:12to each other. Yeah, once they, you know, once
- 7:15you get to know people and, you know, there's a level of trust
- 7:19built up, you know, I mean, you obviously had meeting them in
- 7:21person is the best way. As soon as I went to Legions
- 7:24Con, my experience with the community after that was
- 7:26completely different because people are like, it's that guy,
- 7:30he exists. He's not, you know, he's not
- 7:32this just bubble on the Internet.
- 7:34You got you guys know about my story with Pat Boyle in the
- 7:37first Legions con, right? Yeah.
- 7:39Yeah, yeah. For for those that are not aware
- 7:42of it. Yeah.
- 7:44Yeah, Pat Boyle reached out in the community and said, hey, I
- 7:47need a lift to get to the show. And I looked to see where it was
- 7:50on the map and I said sure, no problem, I can do that.
- 7:53So the night before, I wasn't even giving much thought about
- 7:56other than just helping someone who I'd never met before.
- 7:59Not really a lot of communication or anything like
- 8:01that. Laying in bed the night before.
- 8:03My wife goes, what if this guy is like a serial killer or or a
- 8:08murder or anything like that? I go, well, we're both at least
- 8:11going to go to the show first because we're going to at least
- 8:14enjoy the bulk of the show. So if my last memory is is the
- 8:17first legions con, then so be it.
- 8:19And but from that moment on, you know, Pat Pat's become a
- 8:24lifelong friend. I chat with him every day.
- 8:26If you know, beyond the plastic. So if there's something that's
- 8:29going on or whatever, I know I can reach out to him to just
- 8:31kind of like bend an ear and likewise.
- 8:33So we've, you know, just kind of been there for each other.
- 8:35So that's what that's what this does.
- 8:37It's it's the fellowship beyond the plastic.
- 8:40Yeah, I think there's, there's, there's at least as many people
- 8:43in America now I communicate on a regular at least weekly basis
- 8:46than than there is on this side of the world, you know?
- 8:49Yeah, so. And that would never have been
- 8:52the case before so. Yeah, it's really cool.
- 8:54It's really cool. And it just even even people
- 8:57from different parts of America, you just get different
- 8:59perspectives from each other, you know.
- 9:01You know, you're from Pennsylvania, then there's
- 9:04somebody else from the West Coast at the West Coast that's
- 9:07completely different part of America.
- 9:09It's like there are different type of people, you know?
- 9:11Oh yeah. Even though they're still
- 9:13Americans, you know? It's definitely a melting pot.
- 9:15Yeah, so that's really cool and and how do you approach retro
- 9:20come then with legions can't come in up.
- 9:21Do you do you bring like different stuff?
- 9:24Do you maybe focus on just 3D parts or?
- 9:27So last year, I, I, I had this, I don't know, crazy notion where
- 9:33I wanted to do 23 customs specifically for Allegiance con
- 9:3723. So I, I put them all together
- 9:40and I just, I had them on display last year at retro con
- 9:43and there was a lot of interest in wanting to get them or what
- 9:46have you. And I was like, no, no, no, no,
- 9:48we're just going to, we're going to wait to the show and, and
- 9:51everything like that. And, and it did well at the
- 9:53show, but this year I just decided that we're going to, I'm
- 9:56going to be seeing a lot of new people for the first time.
- 9:58And the, and the last thing I want to tell someone is, Oh
- 10:00yeah, you want to buy that? That's great.
- 10:02No, you have to come to a show two months from now.
- 10:05So I have been making customs throughout the year and I had
- 10:09stuff of it. I even had some older ones that
- 10:11just may not have, you know, caught certain people's eyes
- 10:14that were there. And some of those older ones
- 10:16went too. I just put everything was
- 10:17available. I did take a lot of old toys.
- 10:19I sold AGI Joe, Real American Hero, Killer Whale Hovercraft,
- 10:23like I was just taking. I was trying to empty up some
- 10:28space because you know, the problem is the collectors that
- 10:31we collect and we collect and we collect.
- 10:35So. Then after a certain point
- 10:37there, you start, you start to figure out going, OK, I, I don't
- 10:40have room to collect anymore. And, and, and other people are
- 10:43going, hey, you've got a lot of stuff here.
- 10:45What are, what are we doing with all this?
- 10:46So in order for me to continue to collect stuff, I need to do
- 10:50away with stuff that, you know, doesn't bring me joy anymore.
- 10:54So I got rid of a bunch of old stuff.
- 10:56So I had a full table of older toys I got rid of and, and that
- 10:59was that was nice. So between painted parts,
- 11:02customs, unpainted parts, and then I had the, the, the
- 11:06beginning of the new Kings under the mountain display this year.
- 11:09Had that all together. Still working on that for, for
- 11:12November. Yeah, it was a, it was a, it was
- 11:15a nice sized table and was able to get rid of a lot of stuff and
- 11:17move things along. So, but yeah, it was now, like I
- 11:22said before, I'm going all right.
- 11:23Well, I need to paint some stuff because that went away.
- 11:27So, yeah. And are you, are you doing the
- 11:31thing are the kings under the mountain doing the thing where
- 11:33people can, you know, give you bring a custom and you display
- 11:37absolutely on the table. Absolutely.
- 11:39If if someone wants to, Yep, If someone wants to bring a bring a
- 11:43custom that they want to show up because they don't have a table
- 11:45space or even if they have a table space and they want to put
- 11:47it together, they want to they want to take pictures with other
- 11:51customs or some of the diorama stuff that I'll have there more
- 11:55than welcome to do that. And I've even gone so far as if
- 11:57someone brings something and they go, hey, is it possible I
- 12:00could, you know, maybe put a price tag on this?
- 12:02I, I, I'm OK with that. You know, that's, that's a deal
- 12:05that they will have specifically with that person.
- 12:08Yeah. I take my Commission.
- 12:09It's, it's the King's cut. It's fine.
- 12:10It's. Automatic.
- 12:12Yeah, Yeah, we supposed to get them.
- 12:14Right up the top because then I'll start working the deal and
- 12:17I'll I'll I'll take their number and I'll you know I'll add X on
- 12:20it and that's my that's my cut asked Steve Bischotti about how
- 12:25he couldn't sell dwarf at his table last year and then 5
- 12:28minutes of it sitting at my table it was already gone and
- 12:30sold so brilliant yeah so we'll yeah we'll have that on display
- 12:35as well so I welcome people to bring them all yeah bring them
- 12:38that there it's it's a way for us to get together you know and,
- 12:42and really take in and. You've.
- 12:44Made something that you're really proud of and you don't
- 12:46have a table to display? Well then, might you know then
- 12:49that area is for you. If as long as you're a dwarf.
- 12:54Yeah. So that's just small little,
- 12:55yeah, small little precision there.
- 12:57As long as it's yeah, yeah, I think that's fair.
- 12:59You know, there's, there's also the malignancy.
- 13:01I think that are they going to do something similar?
- 13:03That's correct. The malignancy they have their
- 13:05area as well. So goblins and dwarfs are are
- 13:08available at people's disposal to, you know, display.
- 13:11I won't speak for Dan on what their plans is or what their
- 13:13plan is for that, but they can, you know, I'm sure they'll have
- 13:16something together, so. Yeah, absolutely.
- 13:19So wanted to bring this up here. So this is our little area.
- 13:24So we are in where the Horseman was last year basically and then
- 13:28backing on to as well where the likes of Trevor were last year
- 13:33and. I think the malignancy side of
- 13:39the table will be facing, they'll be facing Dennis Derby
- 13:47and Noah and all those guys. So we're we're in, we're in a
- 13:52really great area of amazing talent and artist.
- 13:56So thankfully we are the first things that people see before
- 14:00they get to Dennis and Noah so that we have that to our
- 14:03advantage. And explain a little bit here
- 14:06why we're going to have a little sure area in the middle is where
- 14:11people go. Through.
- 14:12So what's the vision there? So what I did last year was when
- 14:15I first got to the to the area, when I saw the size of the
- 14:19booth, I saw a lot of people were putting their tables up
- 14:22against the edge so that people could so that the vendors could
- 14:25sit behind the table, put whatever.
- 14:27And I felt like that was a lot of lost space.
- 14:30So what I did was I flipped it the other way.
- 14:31I put the table inward and then create a, a whole open area so
- 14:35you could walk through and interact with everyone.
- 14:38No chairs, no sitting. I want to be one-on-one with the
- 14:41people. I want to talk with the
- 14:42customers. I really want to get to know
- 14:43them, find out what their wants, their needs are, and create
- 14:46communication and new friendships along the way.
- 14:49So in doing so, Christopher Own and I were talking going, this
- 14:53was fun. Like the way we set it up.
- 14:55I was with my buddy Stefan from Detour.
- 14:58We did the same thing for him where he had plenty of room too.
- 15:00So we created this huge open area and the thought was, what
- 15:04if we could get a whole area like this?
- 15:08And then once the determining factor was that the horsemen
- 15:12were going to go to the other room, that was, wow, there's a
- 15:16whole open island. Well, what if we were to start
- 15:20getting some names together and figuring out if we could do
- 15:23something like this? So we started talking with a
- 15:25couple people that we felt as though we could really work
- 15:31together. And there are a couple people
- 15:33that we wanted to, you know, potentially elevate from where
- 15:37they were last year to to a higher spotlight area.
- 15:41They could be seen a little bit more.
- 15:42I know the Borderland Horde guys, they were stuck further in
- 15:46the back, so you know, good opportunity for them to bring up
- 15:48stuff to the front because they have a plethora of amazing parts
- 15:52and pieces. I know they just showed off
- 15:54their, their, their Gundam dwarf cosmic stuff.
- 15:58And as a, as a Gundam fan, I am just thinking, well, I was
- 16:03really trying not to spend money on a lot of third party parts.
- 16:06But now that I'm literally diagonal from them, it's going
- 16:09to be very hard to not go over and say, guys, give me this.
- 16:13Kind of thing. Yeah, we're we're going to have
- 16:15them on in this run up and whatever about Rich hiding from
- 16:20you, he has to be there for that because he's you know what?
- 16:24Maybe he should invite. Me.
- 16:25I have the wallet, I have the wallet crying button.
- 16:28Like literally going to be hammering on it the whole way
- 16:31through that. You should invite me for that
- 16:33one too, and I'll just sneak up as a surprise guest on that one
- 16:36Off guard. Yeah, well, you know, I'll keep
- 16:40you in the loop. So, so, yeah.
- 16:44And then a perfect example of last year was like the
- 16:47malignancy. So the the malignancy, Dan Tobin
- 16:50and a couple of his of his buddies were in that other room
- 16:54last year and and no fault of their own.
- 16:57It seemed like that room didn't get as much notice as as
- 17:03everyone else because the horsemen were over here.
- 17:05And then so people just kept wanting to go where where that
- 17:08was. So definitely wanted to get Dan,
- 17:12who's an amazing painter. I've been watching his evolution
- 17:15through the years get better and better.
- 17:17I know originally he had issues with eyes and now he's taking
- 17:19that on, you know, head on and he's doing some amazing, amazing
- 17:23work. And I'll have obviously the, the
- 17:25goblin stuff. And as people know, my, my top
- 17:28two favorite people in all of mythos are the dwarves and the
- 17:32goblins. So I thought it was just better
- 17:34to have us right there. And, you know, my brother's a
- 17:37goblin guy and, you know, having that all there kind of work
- 17:41well. You got to put up with him.
- 17:43Yeah, you'll put up. Yeah.
- 17:45But if you bring some of his friends in, then you don't
- 17:47really have to deal with them as much, you know?
- 17:49Yeah, then they can put up with them.
- 17:50It's perfect. It make there's there's forward
- 17:53thinking. So what we wanted to do is we
- 17:56wanted to have a good mix of things.
- 17:57We wanted to have talented painters.
- 17:59So Giovanni, I mean you really can't get much more talented
- 18:04than than it comes to Giovanni. So he, he is going to bring a
- 18:09huge amount of painted heads and parts and I, I don't know what
- 18:13his custom count's going to be, but I can almost guarantee you
- 18:17if you want something from Giovanni, you're going to want
- 18:20to go there first. So go there.
- 18:24Immortal Customs. They were in our same row last
- 18:27year, so we wanted to bring them on.
- 18:29They have a nice mix of soft goods and their sculpts are
- 18:33amazing. They have quite the blend of of
- 18:36different topics and themes. So it it really creates a nice a
- 18:42nice mix to that. He Mike is such a great
- 18:48customizer. He's also really good friends
- 18:51with with Matt Stein 13 Z customs.
- 18:54So it made sense to have all those guys together.
- 18:56So we have some great customizers that are there as
- 18:59well. Again, mythic bits, Chris and
- 19:02Shane, they are, I feel like I've almost become like the the
- 19:08third, the third member in that little group there of the week.
- 19:11We're constantly putting together ideas like the Garrison
- 19:14Greybeard last year for the the dwarven towers, like that was
- 19:18just an absolute blast to put together.
- 19:20So they'll be there as well. And then I thought, you know
- 19:26what, we want to make sure that when we have a nice mix, there's
- 19:29a lot of mythic media people that are out there.
- 19:32So who better to have than the European, you know, Regency of
- 19:42the, of the mythic media. So you know, I asked you guys
- 19:44and, and you were, you know, quickly on board to jump to jump
- 19:47on with that. So we went with that.
- 19:49And then of course, Stefan, Stefan, Stefan and I have known
- 19:52each other for a long time. He is such a talented designer.
- 20:00His ideas for going big and large just blow me away every
- 20:05year and some of the things that he has in store this year.
- 20:08I'm not going to spoil anything, but I think people are are once
- 20:12again going to be amazed and blown away with what he has.
- 20:15So and and and of course, like we said and Mark.
- 20:19And Mark, yeah. I'm sorry, it's Mac and Mac.
- 20:24And you've mentioned them already, but so Matt Stein and
- 20:27you are in the same kind of section or?
- 20:29Matt and Matt and I are right there together as well and
- 20:31Matt's stuff is I I don't know if Matt's kind of have anything
- 20:35available for sale at the show. The way things have been going
- 20:38in, in pre sales. He might.
- 20:41I was joking with him the other day.
- 20:43I said you might just be an exhibitor or less of a vendor by
- 20:45the time it comes around, people are just going to come and pick
- 20:47up your orders. By Saturday afternoon I just
- 20:50might have more room to spread my stuff over into your area.
- 20:52He's. Going to be doing in the mail.
- 20:54Wickman, is he? Yeah, but you know what?
- 20:58Matt's stuff I have, I have one of his earlier patina armored
- 21:02pieces and it's to have a piece of his work is, is definitely
- 21:09something on that level of a Giovanni, of an Emil of, of, of
- 21:13something like that. And he's come through and
- 21:16evolved so fast that that's what blows me away.
- 21:20So. And he is recently appointed the
- 21:23brand ambassador of the Toy Forge as of as of a dinner I had
- 21:27with him last week in Atlanta. That post actually, yeah, yeah,
- 21:31that's all. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:33I mean, painting is, it's boring to say, but painting is
- 21:35definitely practice. And the one thing you saw with
- 21:39Matt immediately when he started was he was very, very, you know,
- 21:44he did an awful lot of stuff. And obviously you get better
- 21:48quickly then. Yeah.
- 21:49And then it's just about your own, you know, obviously there's
- 21:52a little bit of your own talent and, and stuff to to, you know,
- 21:56finesse things. But a lot of the basic stuff
- 21:59like eyes and stuff like that, it's just practice, isn't it?
- 22:02It's just kind of doing it, doing it.
- 22:04People are always scared to do it.
- 22:05And I think thing to do is to just do it.
- 22:08And if you go to Legions con and if you're someone that's a kind
- 22:11of AI would say, you know, maybe just started customizing this
- 22:14year or you want to get into it, you get a lot of cheap 3D parts.
- 22:19And maybe, you know, there will be tables that have a deals,
- 22:22deals going with them on 3D parts.
- 22:24Yeah. And go and get there, you know,
- 22:275 or whatever or 10 for whatever.
- 22:29Even if you don't like all the scopes, loads of stuff to
- 22:32practice on there and you don't mind messing them up then if you
- 22:34got them for, you know, very cheap price, you know, yeah, you
- 22:38can post to win. Sorry, Anthony.
- 22:40Yeah, little guy place. I'm sorry.
- 22:42Yeah, as opposed to when, you know, when you're buying them on
- 22:45the Internet, they're obviously going to be the, you know, 12 to
- 22:481520 maybe sometimes for certain scopes.
- 22:51And that's the point when, yeah, you don't want to be messing
- 22:53that up you. Know right well.
- 22:56What I was going to say is if you get some of those large
- 22:58orders, you could dedicate some of the heads you may not be as
- 23:02interested in in on. Like you said, the practice
- 23:04stuff, the dry brushing. You could practice your dry
- 23:06brushing on those heads. Like I for what I do is when I
- 23:09do my painting, I have a small warhammer like a tree of like
- 23:15I've stuffed like all still factored together.
- 23:18And I, I do all my extra brushing off on that and then
- 23:21work on whatever you can start using some of those parts for
- 23:24those things to get the different textures and figure
- 23:26out where exactly how much you want to put to apply before you
- 23:29put it on your $1520 parts. So.
- 23:33Totally. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:35With dry brushing, you really want to know how much paint you
- 23:37have on the brush, right? It's good if you do it on the
- 23:41like, yeah, a piece of plastic or some sort of a head that
- 23:43you're not using. That's very good.
- 23:45But to, to go back to your original question, as as I
- 23:49described everyone that we have there, the way we're going to
- 23:52set this up is similar to how I set it up last year where it's
- 23:54going to be like an open marketplace.
- 23:56So we're going to utilize every square inch of our booth.
- 24:02So we'll so if anyone's looking at the pictures from YouTube and
- 24:06we can show this at a later point as well.
- 24:09The areas in blue will be the display area.
- 24:12So you'll be able to walk for around the outside of the island
- 24:15and see everything. And then on the inside, the Gray
- 24:18area. So you'll walk in from the two
- 24:19sides. So you'll walk in from the toy
- 24:22forge in the malignancy side or immortal customs and Giovanni
- 24:25side and then be able to walk through the center of it and
- 24:28then interact with all this almost like its own, like I
- 24:31said, like a marketplace. So that'll that'll create a
- 24:36fully immersive experience. And again, like I said, no
- 24:39chairs. We're not going to be sitting
- 24:40around. We're going to be chatting and
- 24:41talking with people. So this is this is definitely,
- 24:45you know, a capitalist, uh, engaging, you know, moment I see
- 24:51it. I see you getting a little
- 24:52concerned there, Mal. We're going to.
- 24:53I like a good seat, a good sit down so often.
- 24:57I, I can, I can confirm, Anthony, I did not sit down once
- 25:01at my table last year. But yeah, Mal was Mal was in the
- 25:04middle, but it was me and Rich with the stuff to sell, you
- 25:06know, Mal was there. For cover to be fair, which is
- 25:08going to be very yeah, I. Can't, I can't.
- 25:10I can't stand that. I can't sit at the table trying
- 25:12to sell because it just it. It doesn't work like.
- 25:15It does it, Yeah, I. Understand you're standing up.
- 25:17Someone coming so long and you're like, hey, how's it going
- 25:19on? So any kind of you're reaching
- 25:21over the table, going out there, what about that one?
- 25:23Oh, you're looking for dwarves that went over there.
- 25:26You know exactly. Just it doesn't give the right
- 25:29impression. Now I understand the certain
- 25:30people, if they have a bad knee or something, you know, all that
- 25:33kind of stuff, that's understandable.
- 25:34But. Sure.
- 25:36Do your do your squats anyone on the 1st alliance do your squats
- 25:41in November up to November. You're, you're going to be
- 25:44watching me throughout the day just doing these random like
- 25:47Hindu squats and stretching and, and leaning here and leaning
- 25:51there and just trying to keep working out my, because it's
- 25:53always my back that gives out first.
- 25:54So always trying to work and, and keep that stretched out.
- 25:57I'll probably end up just put, throw a brace on and just call
- 25:59it a day. And, and you know, that'd be
- 26:01fine. But yeah, that, that's the whole
- 26:04idea. And, and you guys know, you guys
- 26:06have known me now long enough, you know that by Saturday
- 26:09afternoon, my voice will probably be gone because I just
- 26:13really want to engage and be a part of it because it's, you
- 26:16know, for a lot of these people, it's for a lot of, it's their
- 26:19first time seeing stuff. Or for a lot of us, it's like
- 26:21homecoming where we get to see people we haven't seen or
- 26:24interacted with all year. So we want to get caught up with
- 26:26them. Yeah, we message with them and
- 26:27everything, but it's different when you get to talk and
- 26:30physically engage with them. So my voice will be gone before
- 26:33the weekend's out. Probably before, maybe even
- 26:36before Saturday is out. I'm going to have a little bit
- 26:38of recording gear, our desk, because last year I focused just
- 26:41on, you know, trying to sell the stuff and, you know, I'm trying
- 26:45to make my life more complicated this year.
- 26:47I think I can manage. So I'll get you on the mics
- 26:50early in the day early. That's the note.
- 26:53We'll keep, we'll keep a recording of the degradation of
- 26:56my voice as it continues to rode away Friday, Saturday and
- 27:00Sunday. What I want to do is just give a
- 27:02little like, even if I get like a total of 1/2 an hour of stuff
- 27:06out of it, it's just an impression of what I was like to
- 27:08be there selling. I don't know, it's an idea.
- 27:12It might work out differently, You know, we might end up having
- 27:15lots of chats with different customers.
- 27:16I don't know. But it's more just to give
- 27:19people an impression of what it was like to be there in an audio
- 27:22form. So let's see.
- 27:23Well, you know, and as a as a podcast and that's, you know,
- 27:26their main source of, you know, where you guys are being known
- 27:30from having the podcast stuff set up there.
- 27:32I think that'll set you apart from a lot of the other guys
- 27:34because anyone that's media related, they're doing stuff
- 27:38afterwards, so you're doing it in the heart of the show.
- 27:41I think that's amazing. I think it's a splendid idea.
- 27:43I'm trying. To do a bit of both, you know,
- 27:45we have we're trying to and we're.
- 27:47So are you going to intern Anthony or are you still?
- 27:50No, I did intern two years ago and it was quite an amazing
- 27:56experience. And is this the first time for
- 27:58you guys? Yeah.
- 28:00So last year, but the first time, yeah.
- 28:04So I will tell you my two favorite experiences of the
- 28:09whole show was the sculpting session with Eric.
- 28:13That was really cool because you could tell when he gets into it
- 28:17because he keeps going and like starts doing more and more and
- 28:21more. And we and, and, and our
- 28:23session, we had done a female fuzz monk that we had deemed the
- 28:26dragon rider. So fingers crossed that we see
- 28:28some sort of fuzz monk dragon rider in the years to come.
- 28:31But the the more interesting part was Jim's tour.
- 28:37Take. Jim's.
- 28:38Tour that some. Someone else said that, yeah.
- 28:40Jim's tour was my favorite. Like if I could go just to do
- 28:45Jim's tour, I would go and do Jim's tour.
- 28:48The way he shows you around with what's going on.
- 28:51And like when we went, that was when they were still building
- 28:54the Kurzog Ogre. So they were like the day
- 28:58before, still putting parts and pieces, trying to make it all,
- 29:02all fit and work out and, and it was great.
- 29:06So yeah, do do the tour and, and really, really soak it in
- 29:11because you see a lot of really interesting things that are,
- 29:14that are done. Like he'll show you the floor,
- 29:16he'll show you the, the, the studio, but then he'll take the
- 29:19prop area and you start going around seeing all the other
- 29:22things. You'll see the big foam CNC
- 29:25machine that cuts all the like a big giant square foam block into
- 29:29all this. Like Curzog wasn't hand carved.
- 29:31It was done through a, a CNC machine that did all the carving
- 29:35for it. And it's, you know, it wasn't
- 29:39easily my favorite part. I'd go back for that one.
- 29:41Like I, I would love to schedule like a one-on-one session with
- 29:44Jim and have him like do a private tour to walk me through
- 29:47that place. It was so crazy.
- 29:49I like Jim because I feel like he's a bit like you.
- 29:52He's this practical bloke that like just knows a bit of
- 29:55everything and kind of can throw his hand at most things, you
- 29:59know? And if he doesn't, he'll ask you
- 30:01about it. And I want you to explain to him
- 30:03so that he knows about it in the future because he's always, you
- 30:06know, always wanting to learn. So that that's what I really
- 30:08love about my conversations with Jim.
- 30:10So ask, he'll ask the thing like, what do you do for a
- 30:12living? And then I'll start asking you
- 30:13about it. And, you know, allows him to
- 30:15just kind of put a little that in his memory bank for later.
- 30:18I love it, I love it. Yeah, we'll have to try and get
- 30:21a chat with Jim as well, maybe not as intern, but see the
- 30:25better, that's the best thing about going to intern than
- 30:27flying a day earlier even than last year.
- 30:30So we will have a little bit more time, you know, like we
- 30:35arriving Wednesday, so maybe Wednesday night we can do
- 30:38something Thursday night after intern.
- 30:41Then there'll be a chance to maybe have an hours recording at
- 30:44some point. Whereas last year it was just a
- 30:47blur. You know, it was literally I, I
- 30:50my plane was late my own and then and then by the time I got
- 30:55there was late in the evening. Then it was kind of, you know,
- 30:58socializing and then up G con everything was a blur after
- 31:02that. Then it was set up.
- 31:04You know I should get G con and set up your boom.
- 31:08Oh yeah, that's it. I, I showed up late Thursday
- 31:10night. It was like 1030 eleven O clock
- 31:13and got, you know, caught up with a couple people and that
- 31:17was right before van disappeared for 36 hours.
- 31:28So I, you know, then then went to bed, got up and I got up
- 31:33early, went to the gym and then I had breakfast.
- 31:36I met up with Jeremy for a couple minutes and then G con
- 31:40start and it was G con all the way up until like midnight and
- 31:44we were done setting up and everyone's still wanting to hang
- 31:47out and party. And I was like, I'm going to
- 31:49bed. I'm just, I'm, you know, just
- 31:53you only run so hard and it catches up with you and it's so
- 31:57much and so little of a time that you really start to, you
- 32:01have to, you have to kind of give in to that.
- 32:04I think after. Being like, I would do this, I
- 32:07would do the same, absolutely as you, you know, I'd pick a night,
- 32:10maybe, you know, maybe I'll say right.
- 32:11Saturday night. I can manage the Sunday, but
- 32:15because it's the only time we get to see the people currently.
- 32:19Yeah, You know, you could possibly go to the retro cons,
- 32:22maybe. What's that one?
- 32:23Zolo Cons? Zolo Con Yeah.
- 32:25I get to at least you might easy more easily get to see the
- 32:28person. So I'm trying to kind of do it,
- 32:32you know, all in the weekend and then pay for it badly for the
- 32:35two weeks. Oh yeah, we all end up sick
- 32:37afterwards. That's the the illness is always
- 32:40the con exclusive that we get after the show.
- 32:42Yeah, I, I can't imagine because this year I've been ill since
- 32:471st of August and I got a relapse there this week.
- 32:52Yeah, I could hardly talk on Thursday.
- 32:53So I'm happy that I'm back, back on antibiotics and all sorts
- 32:57steroids. Yeah, he says he thinks it's a
- 33:00throat thing and it's just won't move out of the throat.
- 33:03I've had X-rays, blood tests. It's nothing like major, but
- 33:06it's not going. So it sucks, but hopefully it'll
- 33:10be gone for allegiance con and then it can come back after, you
- 33:12know, so sad that's what you're aiming for.
- 33:15Just as one weekend. It's like it's a lot of pressure
- 33:18on one weekend in a way. I just need 72 hours to be
- 33:21healthy. That's all I'm asking for.
- 33:22The rest of the year I can be, you know?
- 33:25Yeah. Exactly.
- 33:26In terrible shape. Yeah, right.
- 33:29Let's move on a little bit with the with this stuff.
- 33:31So I wanted to go through, you sent me over a few pictures that
- 33:35we can go through with various things you wanted to highlight.
- 33:39And obviously this isn't all of what you'll have, but it's what
- 33:41you wanted to highlight for. Yeah, so we're so we're debuting
- 33:44a couple new parts for legions kind.
- 33:48Obviously I am a huge fan of the Purple Gang gang and, and Glampi
- 33:54was was quite a big fan of Globia because he don't play no
- 33:58games. And unfortunately while I was on
- 34:02vacation this year, he met his untimely end on the show due to
- 34:07a a chorizo cruiser incident with George Gaspar and one of
- 34:12Pat Boyle's clones. And all I all I know is I heard
- 34:16George and next thing you know, I, I Sunday morning I wake up to
- 34:22find out that Clumpy had passed. And there's currently a campaign
- 34:27right now, if we can get 1000 subscribers to the Purple Gang
- 34:30Gang YouTube channel, the miraculously maybe he'll come
- 34:35back to life. In the event that he doesn't, we
- 34:38have the Glumpy skull. Swap out all your Glumpy.
- 34:41Customs. To be able to put a skull on
- 34:44there instead. So with the new skeleton bodies
- 34:46coming out and everything, it, you know, it definitely could
- 34:49work in between there. And we also have what I'm
- 34:52calling the inevitable gauntlet, because some bloke with a lot of
- 34:57free time on his hands had nothing better to do but decide
- 35:00to be on every mythic media show that you could think of.
- 35:04Oh, we had Demon. Yeah, Curtis.
- 35:05Yeah, we, we, we. 1414 different related at the series over the
- 35:13course of, I don't know, 38 days or something.
- 35:17I forget what the record was. I don't know.
- 35:18He makes he makes a new number every day.
- 35:20It gets larger and larger. It's so we have a we have a
- 35:23gauntlet that's got 14 small little stones on there that you
- 35:28could paint whatever colors you want and you could slap that on
- 35:31there for whatever your your, your inevitable custom wants to
- 35:37be. So yeah, we're we're those are
- 35:38two new things. We I am.
- 35:43Well. I don't, No, no.
- 35:44There are greenstones on there somewhere.
- 35:46So that might work for for most of you guys, right?
- 35:48I don't know. OK, OK, there we go.
- 35:52So you can. Let Curtis choose the stones,
- 35:54you know? Yeah.
- 35:54And you can choose as well whichever 1 you want it to be is
- 35:57your favorite show can be the big stone in the centre and then
- 35:59the rest of them just kind of all.
- 36:01Fall then We've got it. Sorry.
- 36:03There's a big stone in the centre, then to the right
- 36:06there's two small. There's 2 medium sized ones and
- 36:08then a lot of smaller ones in between, so you can just kind of
- 36:11go crazy with that. It's just amazing how how it's
- 36:14grown because when we started the show, so a year and a half
- 36:17ago, it was kind of because there wasn't a lot of right and
- 36:21with I mean legions cast, which was the podcast that was really
- 36:25not not going much. And you had Trevor with his show
- 36:29and obviously Jeremy with his shows and Jesse and Curtis and
- 36:32that was it. And yeah, and it wasn't the
- 36:35regularity wasn't as much. I mean, I think Jesse and Curtis
- 36:39and Jeremy obviously were quite regular, but the other shows
- 36:41were very hit and miss kind of with their timing.
- 36:46And since then, it's just like there's an everyday in the week
- 36:48coverage. You could, you don't need
- 36:49Netflix anymore. You could just watch Legions
- 36:52Yeah TV on YouTube, you know? And what, what's great, you
- 36:56know, and this isn't, you know, blowing smoke up your asses or
- 36:58anything, but what I, I am, I am a podcast fan.
- 37:02I prefer my my my format in pot because I do a lot of traveling
- 37:06on the road and it's easier to just listen to what's going on
- 37:10because if there's video content makes it a little hard to be
- 37:14driving and trying to see what they're showing off or what's
- 37:17going on and, and everything in between.
- 37:19Like even this like I understand.
- 37:21But that's that's why I try and, you know, describe what it is
- 37:24usually so. Yeah.
- 37:26And you do a great description of, of describing everything of,
- 37:28of what exactly it is. So I'm able to kind of visualize
- 37:32what's going on. And plus as long as you are
- 37:34paying, you know, 10% attention in the community, you have a
- 37:38general idea what's going on. So when you describe stuff,
- 37:41absolutely, yeah, it's, it's kind of easy to keep up.
- 37:45So yeah, so there is for you guys, I feel as though.
- 37:50There you go. Closer picture.
- 37:51Yeah, I just put them all into one picture.
- 37:54So that's the skull, obviously, and that's the awesome gauntlet.
- 37:58Very cool. So, so the skull, what, what I
- 38:01did with Thiago is that we, I wanted to create my own skull,
- 38:05something that could be dwarfish in itself in the, and what I, I
- 38:09debuted the just the clean shaven skull at retro Con and
- 38:14this is the first one with hair on it.
- 38:16So going forward, I'll be able to take many of my older sculpts
- 38:20that I've done and take the hair from that and put that on there.
- 38:24It's kind of like how what the Necronomicus wave was, was to do
- 38:28the skeleton version. I'll be able to do the same
- 38:30thing with a lot of older things and just say, hey, let's take
- 38:33the beard off of this head and put it on here and, and, and
- 38:36kind of go from there. So that that should be fun
- 38:39throughout the year because it's definitely going to be a
- 38:42skeleton based year. And I'm not the biggest undead
- 38:47fan and many people know that already.
- 38:50So I'm trying to make this my my new Taylor Swift era of
- 38:55skeletons where it's going to be my tailor era of bones.
- 38:57So I'm kind of trying to embrace it a little bit more.
- 39:01There will be dwarf scale bones to use though.
- 39:04And there will be dwarf scale bones to use.
- 39:06Yes. The only thing that we're
- 39:07missing now will be dwarven forearms and dwarven shins.
- 39:10But we can. That's doesn't mean that that
- 39:13won't be happening before the year is out.
- 39:15I can. I can, at least on a third party
- 39:17basis. So I'll just leave it at that.
- 39:20Oh, there you go. Nice little tease.
- 39:22And yeah, when Necronominus arrives, there's going to be the
- 39:26community is going to be gone skelly crazy.
- 39:30Yeah, definitely. Undead legions will be running
- 39:34wild for a while here. And I'm sure All Star 6 is
- 39:38coming shortly. I wouldn't say it's going to
- 39:40take too long after SO. I hope not because I really want
- 39:43that scally. Yeah, I was thinking, that's why
- 39:46I mentioned I was thinking of of that guy Scally bones.
- 39:49Well. And and really with that scally,
- 39:52I plan on getting a lot of them because of that chest plate,
- 39:55because I just can't justify getting a lot of poxis, pox, eye
- 40:00pox. I don't know what the plural of
- 40:03him would be. So Poxisis.
- 40:04Poxis toxis my leg. Yeah, it just sounds.
- 40:07Weird, my plethora of epoxys is not on my To Do List because of
- 40:12the price point, because it's just, you know, I really want
- 40:17that. That chest plate is just awesome
- 40:19and I have one or two of them, but that that's good enough.
- 40:21But when Scally comes out, I'll be able to utilize a lot of the
- 40:25older chest plates and swap parts in and out and create, you
- 40:29know, a lot of other a lot of other bodies, but then use that
- 40:32new torso for other projects coming out.
- 40:34And the heads are are really, really great.
- 40:38That's awesome. Just got a message from Rich.
- 40:40He's visiting the castle, so he's doing his little outdoor
- 40:42mythic stuff with his family today and he says he's missing
- 40:46you, Anthony. He is full of shite because he
- 40:51knew he invited me. I got the message from him to be
- 40:55on this show. He knew what time it was.
- 40:57He intentionally went to that castle as opposed to he put a
- 41:01castle between us. The whole.
- 41:04Ocean and a castle between us. Hopefully he ends up in the
- 41:07dungeon. Yeah, and you see next week
- 41:10badly lit guy on a on a really bad connection.
- 41:14Hi. Hi.
- 41:14Yeah, that's just riches connection, isn't it?
- 41:17Here's yeah, true, that's normal.
- 41:19Just switch the light off when you got the bad.
- 41:22So this is a is a cool display I guess from one of your recent
- 41:26conventions. This was this was at Retrocon,
- 41:28Yeah. So I this is the the onset of
- 41:32what we're going to do for Kings Under the mountain.
- 41:34This is the Garrison great beard that we had last year as well,
- 41:37but we were with our diorama display behind it.
- 41:41As we are talking, I am working on a right?
- 41:52Oh wow. Piece that will.
- 41:55Smokes lock. Into the.
- 41:57Front of that. So we'll have a.
- 41:59We'll have a go on there, Anthony.
- 42:00Yep, sorry mate. We'll have a whole display
- 42:05thing, wow, that will eventually lock into the.
- 42:09We're going to do this as long as it go all out, right?
- 42:15It's going to look impressive. Wow.
- 42:26OK, gotcha. So it's so smart.
- 42:34Yeah, a battlement attached to the the shelf.
- 42:38But you know. Because, you know, I want a lot
- 42:44of dwarfs on display. In order to do that, I need to
- 42:47be able to have that. And really when you look at that
- 42:50display, the, the Garrison really knocks out a lot of the
- 42:54first shelf behind it. So I'll go up and then higher
- 42:58and then out. And then I have to go and grab
- 43:00some, some pillars, some dowel rods to create additional
- 43:04support. Because I'm hoping, you know,
- 43:05once you put 10 dwarves on there, it'll get kind of heavy.
- 43:08And I want to be. Able to a little bit heavy,
- 43:09yeah. Support that so I'll have that
- 43:11and probably a small saw to have to cut to measure depending on
- 43:14what we're doing for for everything at the show and
- 43:17detours adding some some additional parts and pieces to
- 43:20it and I've working on a few things so this is just the rough
- 43:24prototype version one for this year but looks.
- 43:28Great. We'll have the we'll have the
- 43:30forge in there, we'll have a throne room, we'll have weapons
- 43:32racks, we'll have all that stuff.
- 43:34So if everyone will be able to have a good time, be able to
- 43:36take some some cool photos and things in there.
- 43:39So yeah, so there you go. You have an idea of what what
- 43:42kind of some of the the display in the area is going to be like.
- 43:45And here's some 3D heads that Yep.
- 43:49You're going to be Jason, Jason Rodriguez.
- 43:52I don't know what deal with the crossroads devil that he made
- 43:56this year, but the, the the dwarfs that he's been putting
- 44:01out have just been absolutely amazing.
- 44:06And Giovanni, who is not a big dwarf guy, even said, I want a
- 44:11couple of these dwarf heads to paint.
- 44:13So that that, that, that tells you something that we're that
- 44:17you're definitely hitting the mark when you're when you're
- 44:19capturing the the eyes of of non dwarf fans.
- 44:22And even Mark Calvo has been taking a lot of these and using
- 44:26them in a non dwarf scale for a lot of the Game of Thrones
- 44:30stuff. So yeah, which is really cool.
- 44:33Weird tastic, I'd say. And Anthony does great prints,
- 44:37people. So Anthony's printing our
- 44:39sculpts as well for the show. So really exciting.
- 44:44Here's a bunch of customs. So I guess some of them are sold
- 44:50already, Anthony. Yeah, I, I have a couple guys
- 44:53that have been incredibly supportive throughout the year
- 44:57that I wanted to give them an opportunity to kind of like a
- 45:02first look over and, and some of those have been picked up along
- 45:07the way. But, and my price points, they
- 45:10range anywhere between $130.00 and $300.00.
- 45:15And when I say $300.00, it really, I put that price out
- 45:19there because that is a number that like if I don't sell it, it
- 45:23doesn't hurt my feelings that it gets to come back home with me
- 45:26because it's a really good one. So I, you know, I have a, a fun
- 45:31name for that. That I, I, I call it my, I call
- 45:35it my FU price because someone says FU that's too high, then
- 45:41I'll go, OK. But if they say OK, I'll buy it,
- 45:43then I'll go, well, F me, I have to sell it to you, even though I
- 45:46didn't necessarily want to get rid of it.
- 45:47And then we have to ask Doctor Brent about that.
- 45:49He knows a couple of those. He's he's, he's.
- 45:52He's called my bluff on a few of those so.
- 45:55But yeah, we've got yeah, no, and and and that's what I mean,
- 45:59you can tell based off of my and it's not value based off of like
- 46:03which ones I like more or less, but there are some that I put a
- 46:06lot of. Parts.
- 46:08Parts time commitment above and beyond it where it's like, all
- 46:12right, you know there, there there's more than just the the
- 46:16time and material in that price. There's just a little bit of of
- 46:20extra love on those so. And here's here's the dwarf he
- 46:25used the the NECA body, the. Yeah.
- 46:28So I, I took the Elkhorn body and I heated it up to where I
- 46:34was able to peel the soft torso off of it and then remove the
- 46:40upper body, stick a lesions torso in there.
- 46:44And then I added some mass to the to the waist ball.
- 46:50And then because I knew I was making cut, I just ended up just
- 46:53gluing it in place because really there's enough the
- 46:56mobility and the, and the freedom of the way that figure
- 46:59works that it could just be like 1 torso to waste as one solid
- 47:04piece. And then I was able to plug in
- 47:06the mythic arms, the mythic head and everything like that.
- 47:09So, and then I just, you know, chopped up a few of the weapons
- 47:12and made them a little bit more, you know, in scale to the to the
- 47:17Legion hands. Excellent.
- 47:20Really nice. There's another guy with a
- 47:23beard. Yep.
- 47:24Is this is this mythic bits beard or is this the beard?
- 47:29No. No, this is a.
- 47:31Arzak is it? Or Arzak beard.
- 47:33I have another one here that eventually at some point will
- 47:36end up on there. So I pulled the beard out of the
- 47:40the the cavern dwarf and then it put in there.
- 47:43And then there might have been a little bit of the green stuff,
- 47:46the needite to just kind of blend in a couple spots here and
- 47:49there. And then I took the Torgen
- 47:52Mohawk and I implanted that in the top of the helmet.
- 47:56And then from Elkhorn, because no parts are left behind, I took
- 48:00the ponytail out of that, and that's plugged into the back of
- 48:03that character. And then there's some rogue
- 48:05printing pauldrons. That's the Gallus Waste piece.
- 48:11There's some soft goods, some fur that's integrated in there,
- 48:15the Elkhorn axe and then I made a small axe knuckle duster kind
- 48:22of hand weapon there. So and then I used the a black
- 48:27series backpack. So he's got a fully, you know,
- 48:30just kind of throw it together and then just some light paint
- 48:32apps on on the rest of it to kind of blend it all together.
- 48:34So. Yes, it's a lot of stuff he's as
- 48:36you can hear. Who are those soft goods from
- 48:38the The little skirt piece there looks really cool.
- 48:41That is, that was a piece I got from Josh Campbell was he was in
- 48:50and out of the community in a in a little bit of a quick, quick
- 48:53spurt there. He did a bunch of the dwarf
- 48:55pants and this was a one off piece that he had taken.
- 48:58I end up cutting and trimming it because it's actually covers the
- 49:02whole the whole torso and then the the skirt the waist as well.
- 49:08Awesome. Some cosmic dwarfs we've been
- 49:10talking about smile. We're very excited for cosmic
- 49:13dwarfs, so. I.
- 49:16Want somebody who's got a lot of cool ones?
- 49:18Yeah, so I went ahead and I started making what I call the
- 49:22Dwarf Star Mining team. So it's going to be a group
- 49:25project that I'm going to be working on as I started already,
- 49:29and we'll probably be continuing to make a few more.
- 49:33I feel like a good squad would be like 6 six of them to work
- 49:37together. So I'm just kind of coming up
- 49:39with the different assignments and roles.
- 49:42I have 3 Dunn. I have the the supervisor who is
- 49:46the older gentleman with the with the Olek Dome.
- 49:50He has a a light up feature in the back of the helmet there
- 49:53where you can twist that and it lights up inside the helmet so
- 49:57you'll be able to see his face. Then we have our minor who's got
- 50:01a think it's a Marvel Legends Warlock, I think.
- 50:07Is it Warlock? I forget what it was a building
- 50:09figure. The the the buzz saw that's just
- 50:12attached to one of the plugs to the, the the small rocket plug.
- 50:19And then I just added some. Yeah, lightning effect.
- 50:22Isn't it some sort of lightning effects?
- 50:23And then my my my pick? But then at the chest there
- 50:28those two domes, they light up as well.
- 50:30So all these characters will have various light up features.
- 50:36And here's me with my with my fluorescent paint.
- 50:39Oh, well, fluorescent paint's cool as well, John.
- 50:43Yeah. Yeah, so dwarf with a, is it a
- 50:47goblin with a bear? Goblin.
- 50:48It's a. It's a it's my frost goblin.
- 50:51Frost Goblin. Yeah, so I took the naughtier
- 50:55nice barbarian Santa that came out last year.
- 50:59I used that and then I came across some, I think it was DC
- 51:03Primal was the line that came out a couple years ago where
- 51:07it's like 5.5 style. I took the ice claw from that.
- 51:11That comes from Yeah. And then I took one of the
- 51:16Staffs that have been out with legions and took one of the axe
- 51:18heads and, and merge that into almost like a long Dane axe of
- 51:21sort. And then I took some of the
- 51:23skull pieces from the the elephant poacher character from
- 51:32McFarland and then put that in there and then gave him the bone
- 51:35necklace and things like that. So then gave him his gobbling
- 51:41thighs, but then dwarf shins and feet to kind of, you know, pat
- 51:45him out a little bit more. So he's got a lot of different
- 51:47sizes. And then I took the Zilarian
- 51:50Guard visors and then mounted them on top of the pauldrons as
- 51:55well. They're the that's that's what's
- 51:57on the pauldrons. Yeah.
- 52:00Very cool. Who's this guy named Lovely?
- 52:02This is just our Doorstar mining company.
- 52:04This is just our logo. I just got stickers made for it
- 52:07as well. So you'll have some small
- 52:08stickers it'll. Excellent, you'll be picking one
- 52:11of them up. Yep, Yep.
- 52:13And I went with the the union local because of 99 because
- 52:17that's, you know, whereas we're celebrating the, the anniversary
- 52:20for the, for the studio. So that's why I went with 99. 25
- 52:24years, yeah. And I, and there's my, there's
- 52:28my driller. So before you know, in my, in
- 52:32one of my previous jobs, I actually for a living cut
- 52:36concrete. So that meant I was either slab
- 52:39sauling with large saw blades or core drilling.
- 52:43So, you know, we would core drill with 68 inch core drill
- 52:47bits. So we're talking like almost 5
- 52:49foot in diameter bits over 5 foot diameter bits, you know
- 52:53that you'll be drilling in the concrete.
- 52:54So this is a 2 inch in diameter bit, which you know, in
- 52:58comparison to that, you know, kind of means it's a, it's a
- 53:01large, large drill bit for this guy.
- 53:04And then that's all integrated with light.
- 53:06It has its own drill rig, which is its own separate piece that
- 53:09has its own lighting up parts. And then the, the driller
- 53:13himself has its own separate light up feature as well.
- 53:16So you'll have the supervisor telling the, the guy where to
- 53:19drill, He'll drill, get it, get a section opened up.
- 53:22And then then you have the miner going in there doing the mining.
- 53:25And as I showed you guys earlier, I'm working on the, the
- 53:28engineer, the female engineer slash repair, repair dwarf, you
- 53:33know, to fix the stuff. If a, if a wrench won't work,
- 53:36then we'll use the hammer, the, the smash it into place and you
- 53:39know, kind of go from there. So I'm hoping, like I said, I'm
- 53:42hoping to have like 6 and then I have to figure out a really for
- 53:46this will mainly be for for legions con 25 next year.
- 53:49So I'm already planning for next year.
- 53:51I really want to have a really cool open diorama space where
- 53:55they could be working on as well.
- 53:59That's brilliant. So I mean, there you go
- 54:01listeners, if you if you just hear the you know, the kind of
- 54:04stuff that's you're going to see at Legions con.
- 54:06I mean it's just incredible. And we're only starting on the
- 54:09road to hearing you're going to get.
- 54:12So you've got light up stuff. You've got, you know, all sorts
- 54:15of creative use of parts and amazing.
- 54:19So before you go and we go on, we're going to talk to Chris
- 54:22Peron in the second-half of this episode.
- 54:24I wanted to talk quickly about the drop that we had this week,
- 54:28which was the Frankenstein's creature, because.
- 54:33How amazing is that? Yeah, we won't get to have a
- 54:36separate chat this week with Rich so let's cover it here for
- 54:41the moment. Yeah, it's my first and very
- 54:46short summary is amazing figure what whether you want to
- 54:50Frankenstein or not just look at all you know what we're talking
- 54:54about here now is customizers even just doesn't from that
- 54:57angle. I mean give me the jacket give
- 54:59me the you know all the the pants.
- 55:03Yeah, when you were, when you were talking about the pants
- 55:06there for the, you know, for dwarf customer, whatever I was
- 55:09thinking it can be easily modified of this guy.
- 55:13Oh yeah, I'll be. I'll be snipping a pair down
- 55:15real short, don't you worry. Bitter hot pants.
- 55:20So Mel, firstly, you, you, you're a big figures Obscura
- 55:24fan. You're a one.
- 55:25You're a one in the box, one out-of-the-box.
- 55:27Yeah, yeah. And.
- 55:29It was that what you got or did you get any?
- 55:30Yeah. Yeah, I I did.
- 55:32I got one extra because I've already got some ideas for a,
- 55:36for a cosmic custom that I'll use the pants, boots and jacket
- 55:40on. So, yeah.
- 55:42So which will go with my little Space Pirates collective that
- 55:47I've got. But yeah, it's absolutely
- 55:49fantastic figure all round. Yeah.
- 55:51It's one of those that makes you want to find things to do with
- 55:55the parts because they're so cool.
- 55:57Yeah. And, and it's getting here.
- 56:00We've already gotten near to it with some of the other figure
- 56:03obscure, but I mean, it's as close to a playset as as we're
- 56:08getting at this point, isn't it? It's fantastic.
- 56:12Yeah, that table and everything. I mean, you could do some funky
- 56:14stuff with that in terms of DWARF, you know, maybe your
- 56:18space dwarfs, maybe you can use the rig that comes with that or
- 56:22something. Yep, Anthony.
- 56:24Oh yeah, the the gears were turning.
- 56:26I was at my son's baseball game yesterday morning and had the
- 56:31alarm set and it timed out perfectly where he was up 4th at
- 56:35bat. So I had enough time to get in
- 56:38and grab what I needed and then was able to watch him, you know,
- 56:42you know, go ahead and hit everything.
- 56:43So I ordered, I ordered 2. I I always, I always get the all
- 56:48in because I am, I become the mug collector.
- 56:53So. And that mug is.
- 56:55Yeah, I mean, we need to talk about the mug like that one.
- 56:58I really hope that becomes the new standard because that looks
- 57:02sturdy. It looks like as I'm drinking
- 57:04from my as I'm drinking from my Marley one this morning.
- 57:10That should hold temperature really well.
- 57:12So like the the Marley one gets a little toasty on that handle
- 57:14when you put your hot coffee in there.
- 57:16But I think this, the way that it's shaped and designed like
- 57:20that, that's that's really cool. And it's funny, here we are at
- 57:22this point we're talking first thing I want to talk about.
- 57:25Is about mugs, yeah. The mugs are crazy.
- 57:28The accessories are so cool that the non figure accessories are
- 57:32so cool. Yeah.
- 57:34And that's, and that's really what comes to mind is that when
- 57:37you're when you're buying these things like when I look, I'm
- 57:39looking at Monkey King right now and I'm looking at Anubis and
- 57:42Bastet. Like the the accessories that
- 57:45come with them are are so crazy that at this point now the the
- 57:51playset that you could just build with all the different
- 57:53parts that could intertwine. Now keep in mind some things
- 57:55will and won't, but like the small vases from from the
- 57:58Egyptian stuff, you'll be able to use some of that for a nice
- 58:01display stuff. So you could really build a cool
- 58:05diorama piece with some shelving and stuff that you know, have
- 58:08that all in place. And the tables it, it definitely
- 58:11has that steampunk retro sci-fi vibe that you could use for a
- 58:15lot of different themes depending on what you want to do
- 58:19and, and all the different accessories that come with it.
- 58:21Like it's just like, I'm, I'm really excited for this one.
- 58:24I showed Tony after the game was over and went ahead and got a
- 58:29second one because I knew we were going to need one.
- 58:31Because really the, the obscure stuff is interesting because a
- 58:36lot of it's seasonal based. So Father Christmas and Krampus
- 58:40only come out at Christmas time. Red Death, Headless Horseman and
- 58:44Frankenstein, you know, are are probably going to be Halloween
- 58:48things, but like, I'm going to want an extra 1 of or two of
- 58:53these just for the extra customization that you could use
- 58:57for other stuff. Like, you know, I'm already
- 59:00thinking Frank and Dorf or Dorfenstein or whatever I got to
- 59:03do to make that work because, and it'll be cool because once
- 59:07we get some of the skeletal pieces, you could really go
- 59:10nuts. With.
- 59:12You know, parts that you know. Yeah.
- 59:14This in A tuberculae together. Yes.
- 59:17Oh yeah, And like there's your box and Lego.
- 59:20Have fun, you know. Yeah.
- 59:23And yeah, like if I, if I, I'm a customizer and I'm at the
- 59:28Legions con and I've got a couple of £100 maybe that I've
- 59:32made-up my table to spend at the Horseman booth.
- 59:34And I'm saying, right, I'm going to get figures to make customs
- 59:38for the next year. Maybe I just get a load of
- 59:40figure obscure us and, you know, unbox them all, you know, throw
- 59:45them into a, a small box and throw them into my luggage
- 59:49because the parts that come with them, I mean, and to get them,
- 59:53you know, without postage and without anything.
- 59:55And they're expensive figures compared to say, a standard
- 59:58figure, but they're not expensive for what you get, so.
- 1:00:01As long as you keep the backgrounds because Nate Barts
- 1:00:04his background. Of course.
- 1:00:06Create instant photography because the Monkey King.
- 1:00:10One out in the luggage. Yeah.
- 1:00:11Oh, there you go. The Monkey King one I use as the
- 1:00:14backdrop for all of my photos when I take stuff and display it
- 1:00:18to me personally. Because when it comes to
- 1:00:21legions, I collect all my mythic legions and I also customize
- 1:00:24legion cosmic. I'm at a point now where I'm
- 1:00:27just customizing cosmic stuff. I'm not really collecting
- 1:00:30anything in its original form. Figure obscure.
- 1:00:33I'm buying and then to keep its collection and then customizing
- 1:00:37because it's still early enough in its infancy.
- 1:00:40But I personally believe that the Monkey King is probably the
- 1:00:43greatest figure that the studio has ever made.
- 1:00:46Just when you compare the the parts that were involved, the
- 1:00:49sculpting, the options, the the different face plates, the chest
- 1:00:53plate, that that can, you know, the, the size change from the
- 1:00:56dwarf shin to the regular, the soft goods that were involved.
- 1:00:59Like I keep looking at like, I can't help but just keep getting
- 1:01:02amazed by it. That really set the standard for
- 1:01:06what Obscura needs to be. And they've just keep setting
- 1:01:09the bar above and above and above every time, so I'm very
- 1:01:14happy. Watching Director's review, I
- 1:01:17mean, it's basically an entirely new figure.
- 1:01:18It's this. There's no reuse here.
- 1:01:20It's just the Hagnon head, the skull, the hands, and pretty
- 1:01:24much everything else is new, you know?
- 1:01:26Because it's a taller one point O body.
- 1:01:28It's not a brute, but it's a taller one point O, which when I
- 1:01:32so when I first saw what the count was the limit for
- 1:01:34characters, I figured someone's going to order a whole key.
- 1:01:37So what fits in a case? So a standard figure, I believe
- 1:01:41it's 24 to a case, bigger figures like a A2 pack or
- 1:01:46whatever would be 12 to a case. But when they said 16, the first
- 1:01:50thing came to mind was brute scale.
- 1:01:52But essentially you're, when you factor all that together, I
- 1:01:56mean, that makes sense where that that goes through.
- 1:01:58So once again, you think you know the answers and then they
- 1:02:01change the question on you. Yeah, totally.
- 1:02:06Righty ho Well, we're going to get over and chat to Chris
- 1:02:09Anthony. It's been awesome to have you on
- 1:02:10again as always, and can't wait to see you in November and hang
- 1:02:15out. And one of the best things about
- 1:02:18being in the row, which of this year is that I'll get to chat to
- 1:02:21you more because in the chaos last year, I was over to you a
- 1:02:25couple of times, you know, to buy stuff and to say hello, but
- 1:02:28didn't get to see each other that much so.
- 1:02:31Yeah. And it was nice to having the
- 1:02:32option to pick. Yeah, well, I was able to pick
- 1:02:36some people that like I go. Well, I had to spend a weekend
- 1:02:40with a bunch of people. Who would I want to spend?
- 1:02:41Yeah, maybe. Yeah, maybe that's the best way
- 1:02:43to do it. All right, You're right.
- 1:02:44Yeah, right. So cheers, Anthony.
- 1:02:46Thanks all. Right, guys.
- 1:02:47Thank you so much. Have a good one.
- 1:03:03So Chris Ferrone, great to have you back.
- 1:03:05And you were with us last year on Episode 33, so almost a year
- 1:03:10ago now in October. So this is this will be in
- 1:03:14episode 85. So wow, we've done a little bit
- 1:03:17little bit of work. We've been busy.
- 1:03:19Just put in a lot of work. And how are you doing all the
- 1:03:22way over there in Washington? I'm doing.
- 1:03:24I'm doing great. You know, this was, I was going
- 1:03:26to get up it originally when we planned this like an hour before
- 1:03:30hour and a half and then, you know, the FO drop happened.
- 1:03:33So I've been up since like 5:30 so.
- 1:03:35Bye time. That's right, we got Figure
- 1:03:38Obscura today as of recording. And how did you find that?
- 1:03:42Pretty cool, I thought. Yeah, I thought it was pretty
- 1:03:44cool. I grabbed a couple.
- 1:03:46I'm figure Obscura usually for me is like a a lot like Red
- 1:03:51Death. Bought a lot, Marley bought a
- 1:03:53lot. This one too.
- 1:03:55I'll probably go back for a couple more later.
- 1:03:59I buy them, you know a lot of it because of the bunch of the last
- 1:04:01few FO drops. The new parts have just been
- 1:04:05crazy, right? Absolutely.
- 1:04:07Yeah, The coat on this one today is that.
- 1:04:10Coat and it's broot scale trench coat, right, So it's way bigger
- 1:04:15than Marley's. So seeing its broot scale trench
- 1:04:19coat, I was like, oh man, well, I probably should have got more
- 1:04:22let me go back and I because I mean like I got an extra I got 2
- 1:04:27on the initial drop just because one I'll display regular and
- 1:04:30then one I'm going to totally paint flesh and turn into a
- 1:04:32flesh column like I'm sure half of the rest of the customizer
- 1:04:35will do right. That's like guaranteed
- 1:04:37everyone's going to make. Yeah, you, you, you won't be
- 1:04:39unique on that one. That's for.
- 1:04:41Sure. No, I wanted the hagging on head
- 1:04:43for some red some red death bodies I still have because I
- 1:04:46don't have extra hagging on heads and I didn't want to buy
- 1:04:48the I don't like the figure that much so I didn't want to buy
- 1:04:51extras of them. Agreed.
- 1:04:53Yeah, not not my favorite, but the head is awesome like the
- 1:04:55head is. Yeah, it's legit one of the
- 1:04:58coolest heads in the line. That's for.
- 1:05:00Sure, one of the coolest heads. So then I thought about it.
- 1:05:03Then I watched Dork Layers video, which I should have
- 1:05:05watched first because I would have.
- 1:05:08Bought. That's when I realized the scale
- 1:05:10of the figure. Yep, Yep, totally messed.
- 1:05:13Me up so that was that was pretty sweet and the amount of
- 1:05:16new parts because I had just assumed kind of quickly browsing
- 1:05:20to the pictures that you know, the bits with the stitches on
- 1:05:22it. Yeah OK, clearly a new torso and
- 1:05:24then I thought new forearms and lower legs because that's what I
- 1:05:27could see in the pictures. But it seems like everything,
- 1:05:30even the feet, have these stitches on them and the upper
- 1:05:33arms around the back. And it's new boots.
- 1:05:36Yeah, yeah. The uppers look like the new
- 1:05:39uppers. Arms and legs look like the new
- 1:05:41muscle, but like the new muscle lower new ones we're getting in
- 1:05:45gas bar. The arms look new new.
- 1:05:48I don't know if those are like it looks smaller than the new
- 1:05:51muscle arm. So the uppers might be new as
- 1:05:54well. I think the lower arm's actually
- 1:05:56extended as well, isn't it? Over overlay along whatever you
- 1:06:00want to call it for a human arm to get that gorilla hanging arms
- 1:06:04lifted in a monster. Really cool, Yeah.
- 1:06:07And they started doing that with cosmic right?
- 1:06:08Where they would take a 1.0 body and extend the lower limbs to
- 1:06:12give you a weird size. Monkey King did that too with
- 1:06:15the with the longer forearm. So, so it's a great way to have
- 1:06:18existing library and kind of change the look of the figure.
- 1:06:22I like that. I like the hair head the second.
- 1:06:25One there too, yeah. Hairs getting ripped off for
- 1:06:26sure. I don't know who's going on
- 1:06:31going on somebody. Yeah, you're, as we, as we get
- 1:06:34to see you are someone that does a lot of that type of
- 1:06:37customizing. We're cutting bits off and the
- 1:06:39Dremel is out and the, you know, the file is out and there's lots
- 1:06:43of sandpaper involved and glue and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:06:45Yeah, I'm not just a painter. My favorite part of customizing
- 1:06:49is slicing and splicing. It's my favorite even before
- 1:06:52mythic legions when it was GI Joes, even when I was a kid,
- 1:06:55like I used to saw off like one of the forearms and then glue it
- 1:06:59on to another one. I, I, I like seeing things and
- 1:07:02going, I like you. So it's weird because I 3D, you
- 1:07:05know, obviously I own half of a 3D printer company, right?
- 1:07:08That's right. I think total this year in my
- 1:07:11customs. This is going to sound bad
- 1:07:13because like bad promotion, but I think I'm using like ten 3D
- 1:07:16prints of the custom. Not a lot, not a lot of 3D
- 1:07:21prints. That's kind of cool.
- 1:07:23Then it, you know, it shows the kind of creativity because it's
- 1:07:26not just like often when I do a custom, I'm more focused on the
- 1:07:30painting. So if I have something unique,
- 1:07:33it'll be like a 3D printed head or, you know, maybe a unique
- 1:07:38paint on a on a part, but I generally don't tend to cut them
- 1:07:41up. And there's lots of guys like
- 1:07:43you that do that and you'll be looking at a picture and then
- 1:07:47they'll be like, you'll be reading the text and they'll be
- 1:07:49like, oh, it's all legions parts.
- 1:07:51OK, now I need to go back and look at this and try and figure
- 1:07:55it out before reading on. Yeah, I really like that.
- 1:07:58It's, you know, it's cool that everyone is kind of got their
- 1:08:01own little way of approaching. And actually think, and this is
- 1:08:05no disrespect to anyone who doesn't do it because I don't do
- 1:08:08much. I'll do it a little bit, but not
- 1:08:10to level like yourself. And some of those I actually
- 1:08:13think it's even harder. It makes that custom even just
- 1:08:17slightly next level above one that just uses printed parts,
- 1:08:20because people can buy printed parts and paint them up.
- 1:08:23It's harder to accurately cut things in just the way you want,
- 1:08:28glue them to hide the seams, and so on and so forth.
- 1:08:32It definitely takes some time. I would say practice.
- 1:08:37I, I'm better, way better now than I was previously.
- 1:08:42I used to kind of screw things up.
- 1:08:44It would take me sometimes two tries on certain heads, but what
- 1:08:47happened? So two years ago I did a head
- 1:08:50and I the only thing I've ever regret selling allegiance con
- 1:08:54all these years because I sell every custom I make comes
- 1:08:57allegiance con for sale. Once I'm done with a custom, 99%
- 1:09:00of the time I don't care about it anymore.
- 1:09:01I'm I'm in love with the process of customizing, not the figure.
- 1:09:05I like writing the back story. I like making the custom.
- 1:09:08Once the figure is made, I'm kind of like whatever and the
- 1:09:10next set of customs, but a couple of years ago, Travis
- 1:09:16Canning. Bought this for me.
- 1:09:17I took. A old Attila head that I had
- 1:09:20ripped out of the lion. It took a Grisha a little face
- 1:09:26thing and I took a Vidis Topper. Off of his gladiator.
- 1:09:30Helmet and made a gladiator Attila and I got the cuts and
- 1:09:34glue like I'm not going to say perfect, but.
- 1:09:38They were damn close. And that's the he bought just by
- 1:09:42the rest of the figure. He just made me a great offer on
- 1:09:44that. And I was so like, it was the
- 1:09:46first allegiance that I'd been to.
- 1:09:48I was the first time as a vendor and I was just so happy that
- 1:09:50people like my stuff. I'm like, I'll sell it.
- 1:09:52It's the only thing I regret selling in three in.
- 1:09:57Going on three years. Ago on the show because I'm like
- 1:09:59damn, I don't think I'm ever going to have an extra Grecia
- 1:10:02head and I had where the part came from.
- 1:10:04I had started another custom with that head and totally
- 1:10:07botched it and instead of throwing that little piece.
- 1:10:11Out. I was like, I'm going to.
- 1:10:12Save this maybe someday. And then I even part of it too.
- 1:10:16I took a fury or like an extra Fioric head.
- 1:10:20I had the helmeted 1 and I cut the face off and I glued the
- 1:10:24Attila onto it so I had a stock fit and it's probably the best
- 1:10:28even to this day, it's the best licensed place I've ever done.
- 1:10:31Well that's so this is your third legions con, isn't?
- 1:10:34It yeah, this is number 3 so. We met you in the.
- 1:10:38Watching G Con on the project, famous projector.
- 1:10:42The projector where I got where I got no sleep.
- 1:10:44Yeah, that. Was your that was your first
- 1:10:46legions? Con as a vendor and our first
- 1:10:48legions con full stop yeah and and things have evolved for
- 1:10:53them. So how has it evolved for you
- 1:10:55over the, over the kind of three or you know, obviously you've
- 1:10:58had two now and we're planning for number 3 in 67 weeks time I
- 1:11:03think you know. It's interesting from.
- 1:11:06We set out. When we so mythic bits, is the
- 1:11:10company a Co run? I don't know.
- 1:11:11You probably should have said that and.
- 1:11:14Yeah, Chris is from. Mythic bits, don't you know?
- 1:11:17We just assume your knowledge, listeners.
- 1:11:19Sorry about that. What that really is?
- 1:11:23Is it's anything Shane man who owns 3D man creations.
- 1:11:27He does printing outside of mythic legions.
- 1:11:28He prints for companies, he prints for other people in the
- 1:11:32like he does like he prints, he has a a little farm and he we,
- 1:11:36he owns a lot of large printers. He prints in masks anytime.
- 1:11:39So he so that's a good part of his income.
- 1:11:41Then like you would say or yeah, Yep.
- 1:11:43And I believe he's kind of a job is.
- 1:11:45Three, he does 3D printing for dental.
- 1:11:47Stuff. Like he OK?
- 1:11:48Oh right, he works at a 3D print.
- 1:11:50Studio and He 3. D prints at the house, right?
- 1:11:54Anytime we collaborate, we call it mythic prints, right?
- 1:11:58We're cool anytime. We do something together.
- 1:12:00What's changed is originally I had an idea of when like I would
- 1:12:08do something, I would have my own brand and I just got caught
- 1:12:11up in the mythic bit stuff and I never really did it.
- 1:12:14So you'll buy custom. We post it on our Instagram.
- 1:12:17I actually have an Instagram called Pharaoh's Forge that I
- 1:12:21think before we own mythic bits. I've had that forever, never
- 1:12:24used. But what's evolved is this year
- 1:12:28we expanded, right? So we do, we have a channel,
- 1:12:31have a whole table full of resin parts and we have, we are
- 1:12:37fingers crossed going to have another new playset this year
- 1:12:40like we did with the dwarf one we are working on.
- 1:12:43We're working on it. It's not done yet which it was
- 1:12:45done and I can show you guys samples.
- 1:12:47It is currently in the machine, in the machine.
- 1:12:50So we're going to try and bring that.
- 1:12:53We'll have a. Bunch of heads and, you know, we
- 1:12:56always try to be the most affordable place.
- 1:12:58So this year instead of four for 20 on heads, it'll be 5 for 20
- 1:13:02on three branded. And our heads, I'm going to say
- 1:13:06most of them, I'm sure we have worked in a a sculpt owned by
- 1:13:09other people. But most of the heads on the
- 1:13:12table, I'd say 90% are unique sculpts.
- 1:13:15So that's what's a little different about us.
- 1:13:17Usually. Like the universal sculpts like
- 1:13:19that Jason does or Thiago does, like the kits, everyone will
- 1:13:22sell those for 5 or 6 bucks now, which has changed a lot over the
- 1:13:24years that prices come down. That's come down, yeah.
- 1:13:28And market forces, you know? I love American.
- 1:13:31It's American. In a bottle.
- 1:13:33When I came in the game three years ago, I was like, hey.
- 1:13:36Stuff's a little overpriced. Let's let's pretty.
- 1:13:37Yeah, true, it was. Yeah, I I bought a few scopes.
- 1:13:40At my first Legions con that I was kind of like, oh, I paid a
- 1:13:43lot for them. There's a lot, right?
- 1:13:44And a lot of work goes into it. I get all that.
- 1:13:46But Oh yeah. Absolutely.
- 1:13:47I know how the sauce is made now, so I'm like, OK.
- 1:13:50And then we've always been on the lower end of what stuff
- 1:13:54costs. When heads were 12, we were at
- 1:13:568, right? Yeah.
- 1:13:57Umm, what's different is every a lot of people, their unique
- 1:14:01sculpts or more 'cause you got to pay your artists.
- 1:14:03And how are they got it set up right?
- 1:14:04Well, we figured it out. We bought the bigger machines.
- 1:14:07The bigger machines let you run off 4050 heads at a time, right?
- 1:14:12It brings cost. So all of our sculpts, whether
- 1:14:15it's universally sold or not, at Legions Con, Legions Con only we
- 1:14:19do. We'll do 5 for, we'll do 5 for
- 1:14:2120. So you pay for guys, whether you
- 1:14:24whether you want the. Sculpts for the sculpts or
- 1:14:26whether you want to get a batch and, you know, level up your
- 1:14:28painting by, you know, not fearing it.
- 1:14:31It's, it's, it's not as it's not as bad to mess up in a $5 sculpt
- 1:14:34and a $20 sculpt, you know, right.
- 1:14:37And maybe have to strip the paint or, you know, at 5 bucks,
- 1:14:39I'd probably just, I don't know, do about a damaged version if I
- 1:14:43messed it up. 4 bucks a 4 bucks sorry.
- 1:14:46Sorry, sorry. 5 for 20 Oh my God.
- 1:14:50So what changed this? Year.
- 1:14:52We added. Because we started most people
- 1:14:54when they 3D print, start filament then they go to resin.
- 1:14:57We were the reverse. We started at resin and I
- 1:15:00decided to pick up some filament machines this year.
- 1:15:03So I'm I've got 4. Bamboo.
- 1:15:06Labs, printers at the house and I've been last four months
- 1:15:13working on different things for filament printing.
- 1:15:18So they're they're good for like stuff like Dial.
- 1:15:20Pieces and more of this kind of less organic stuff if you know,
- 1:15:24yeah, less organic stuff, yes, less organic is the correct.
- 1:15:27That is the very correct term. More more like if you were to do
- 1:15:31a house or something in. A in a like a miniature house
- 1:15:33wouldn't be ideal house. Little dial piece so.
- 1:15:37Earlier this year I did flag stands for the banners, the
- 1:15:41little standard saw those. Yeah, you can plug in the middle
- 1:15:44banner. Section plug your banners in.
- 1:15:46But one thing I've so everything for 3D printing, it's always
- 1:15:50something like I want this for me and then oh, maybe other
- 1:15:54people will like it. And, you know, we kind of go
- 1:15:56from there. Right.
- 1:15:57Yeah, So what I've always wanted.
- 1:15:59Is a non. Masters of the Universe weapons
- 1:16:03rack 'cause that's the only one floating around.
- 1:16:06So bring you up big here. Exactly, yes.
- 1:16:09I sat down in my. Little Cave.
- 1:16:12And this is, this is except for the texturing, which I'll show
- 1:16:15you a painted version in a second.
- 1:16:17Yeah, minus the texturing. I designed the whole thing from
- 1:16:20scratch. First time I've ever, I guess
- 1:16:23cadded something. So that was that's in a in a
- 1:16:27program like. CAD or you know, this is
- 1:16:29actually in the program that comes with the printer.
- 1:16:32They give you like some basic. Some basic modeling.
- 1:16:35Tools and it's amazing what you can do with some basic modeling
- 1:16:37tools, so. It'll hold.
- 1:16:41Well over 25 weapons and this is what.
- 1:16:47It looks like it will paint so. One myth about FDM that I
- 1:16:50thought is that it doesn't paint well.
- 1:16:52Yeah, and it paints pretty good. Yeah, it looks great.
- 1:16:56Yeah. Yeah, really.
- 1:16:57Good, SO paints up really well. That FDMS and we thought that we
- 1:17:03couldn't do that with resin. It's just it's not the same,
- 1:17:06right? And sorry, I didn't show this
- 1:17:08part. So the way this works is you
- 1:17:11actually get it. Two back up there, yeah.
- 1:17:14We're going to. Oops, not prepare.
- 1:17:16For this part, that's my. Bad.
- 1:17:17Do you feel like this shit? No problem.
- 1:17:18Like I'm on QVC and I messed this up.
- 1:17:21Could have been prepared. So what it does is you're going
- 1:17:26to get it, it comes it, you take it apart.
- 1:17:30So it's multiple parts. And.
- 1:17:32Then just put it together. Oops.
- 1:17:36You assemble it through. These posts, the posts hold it
- 1:17:38in and you're good to go. That's it.
- 1:17:42Yeah, and that the FTM. FTM is a little, it's not as now
- 1:17:47you know, resin is quite, you know, the quality has always
- 1:17:51going up these days, but it's not as breakable as resin.
- 1:17:55I think it's not as breakable as resin I have found.
- 1:17:58The precision at least for cheap resins, right?
- 1:18:01Cheap resins you have a shrink rate filament.
- 1:18:05The shrink rate is much, much less, like if I put something to
- 1:18:10a 10th of a millimeter, it's right there.
- 1:18:13So getting things to fit quickly, being able to yeah,
- 1:18:17like those plugs now you showed with the with the thing.
- 1:18:20With that, that might be a bit of a a few failed resin prints
- 1:18:23before you get that dialed in resin.
- 1:18:26We would probably print this thing in one piece, right?
- 1:18:27But. Then shipping it, you know, you
- 1:18:31got some, you got some, some wiggle room there.
- 1:18:34So the other thing so that's one thing we're I'll bring I'm going
- 1:18:37to have the all the FDM stuff will be the way our table set
- 1:18:41up. Chain's got his own super cool
- 1:18:42mythic bits table that'll have a bunch of crap on it.
- 1:18:45And then Giovanni and I split a table that's right.
- 1:18:48You're kind of behind us, but we're we're.
- 1:18:50All in the one section which is this first alliance that we
- 1:18:52talked to Anthony about and yeah, So yeah, anyway, continue.
- 1:18:57Sorry, I'll be sharing table Giovanni and.
- 1:19:01All my little filament stuff will be right there.
- 1:19:04Speaking of First Alliance, so we can, that's a good segue.
- 1:19:07John Ellison. Yeah, I've done this before.
- 1:19:11You guys are you guys are veterans at this I.
- 1:19:13Was not prepared you've heard you know 3033 to. 85 If we
- 1:19:17haven't learned what, ten or two by then, then we're not doing it
- 1:19:19right. Huh.
- 1:19:20So the first we can, can we park on the 1st Alliance?
- 1:19:23For a minute, yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:25So yeah, first ally so. Everything in our row, right?
- 1:19:28If you look at that on a map, yeah, if all you guys that are.
- 1:19:31Listening at home? Go look on the map. 1st where
- 1:19:34where the horseman table was last.
- 1:19:35Year if you were there. Isn't that right?
- 1:19:37That's right, we all, a bunch of us, decide.
- 1:19:40We, we've decided everyone on our row should do, we should do
- 1:19:42something fun. So we kind of name the row the
- 1:19:44first alliance, right, spearheaded by Anthony
- 1:19:46Household. So as our contribution, as my
- 1:19:50contribution to that, we're going to run a fun promotion.
- 1:19:55So. Any customers who buy from a
- 1:19:59First Alliance table. If the if the vendor decides to,
- 1:20:02they can give them. One of these coins and everyone
- 1:20:04will have a different color. Everyone will have a certain
- 1:20:07amount of coins. If you bring your coins to the
- 1:20:10First Alliance Mercantile Exchange, that's me.
- 1:20:14Bring me two coins, two different.
- 1:20:15Coins you. Will get a random 3D print for
- 1:20:19free. Wow.
- 1:20:22Here's the kicker. The 3D prints.
- 1:20:24That will be available for this promotion.
- 1:20:28The only way you can get them is this one.
- 1:20:30Oh. Wow, so they'll.
- 1:20:33So there'll be some alternate. There'll be some.
- 1:20:35Alternate versions of heads that we weren't even selling.
- 1:20:38Like there are some heads, there are some heads that I can't sell
- 1:20:41right. I've talked to the whoever owned
- 1:20:43the original sculpt that we modified or whatever and they
- 1:20:45said, hey, you can use it for giveaways, but you know, no OK,
- 1:20:49cool. And I'll have extras like it's
- 1:20:51like. Extras I print 6.
- 1:20:52For me for customs, and then I have a couple extra, right?
- 1:20:55So there'll be some of those we're also doing I'm also going
- 1:20:59to be selling some key chains or bag tags this year and brilliant
- 1:21:05everyone going back from legions con that we just you.
- 1:21:07Know if you're in I don't know if some random airport in
- 1:21:10America and you'll see a bag tag that and you'll be like, oh, he
- 1:21:12must be a legions can too. So we're these are this is what
- 1:21:15FDM is good for. So the machines.
- 1:21:17I have are two color so these print this is flat.
- 1:21:21So for the for the audio listeners there, Chris Tell.
- 1:21:24Us which, what, what the different keys are We we do
- 1:21:26YouTube as well, of course, but for the audio, for the audio
- 1:21:29listeners. So we've got the kings under the
- 1:21:31mountain. Represented the brew.
- 1:21:33People don't know little. No, there is a barbarian group
- 1:21:36called Pillage and Plunder. Oh, I didn't know that.
- 1:21:38Nobody. Knows that need.
- 1:21:41To get. By.
- 1:21:43Illustrious Pat Boyle. Oh, that's.
- 1:21:46Group OK. We got the crypt, the horde,
- 1:21:49the. Malignancy And then there's of
- 1:21:51course an extra dwarf one which is #decade of the dwarf, so
- 1:21:56certain ones of these colors. So if you look at the horde, the
- 1:21:59green horde, the green malignancy, the white crypt, the
- 1:22:02colors you would expect, those are going to be for sale at 2
- 1:22:05for $5.00. So you get 2 bag tags for 5
- 1:22:09bucks the other colors. Like the the.
- 1:22:13Fury Horde colors and the alternate brood.
- 1:22:16Those are only available through that Mercantile Exchange
- 1:22:20program, and it'll be a random. Pull out of the back.
- 1:22:25There'll also be heads in there. You can't get anywhere like.
- 1:22:28There'll be some stuff you just some stuff that's on my customs
- 1:22:32that will not be for sale to Mythic Bits too.
- 1:22:34Got you. So, so fun.
- 1:22:36I thought that was a cool. Way like we're collectors,
- 1:22:39right? It's.
- 1:22:39Fun to collect. Yeah, of course.
- 1:22:40Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know it appeals.
- 1:22:42Straight away to to collector mindset, you know inventory
- 1:22:46would be limited. I thought the bad tags would be
- 1:22:48a fun idea so I went to all the groups and said hey can I do
- 1:22:52this are. You cool with me?
- 1:22:53Selling them too for like every hear, I always hear people or I
- 1:22:57get feedback that, you know, I came leaves con I spent a lot of
- 1:23:00money to get here. I don't have I can't buy
- 1:23:02anything at the tables right and I'm like, man, that's you know
- 1:23:05that always. So we always try to bring prices
- 1:23:07down to a certain level. These were just enough.
- 1:23:10It's 5 bucks you get 2 right. So you got a couple people or,
- 1:23:15you know, I think for $5 you get pretty cool things to just, you
- 1:23:19know, put on your backpack, put on your key chain, however you
- 1:23:21want to set it up. Awesome.
- 1:23:24The other thing, the last thing about that.
- 1:23:26So yeah. But I was going to say actually.
- 1:23:28That yeah, if you want to go away from legions, come with
- 1:23:30lots of stuff. I think your table is going to
- 1:23:33be a good spot. You got to get shot and it's you
- 1:23:35got to shop the first alliance. Folks, right?
- 1:23:37And then you're going to be able to get free stuff.
- 1:23:41Like who doesn't love free stuff Totally.
- 1:23:44So I don't have an example. With a first.
- 1:23:46Alliance. One, but all the key chains will
- 1:23:48also come with a little oh an. Actual there are going to come
- 1:23:53with that yeah, you're. Going to get.
- 1:23:54You're going to get a. Key ring and a clip on your two
- 1:23:57for $5. I mean that almost is like a
- 1:24:01dollar or two value. In itself, you know, So I
- 1:24:05thought this was a way to kind of, you know.
- 1:24:08Obviously recoup everything, but a way to like if someone's going
- 1:24:11and they're saying, hey, it's going to be rough.
- 1:24:14You know, I don't I, I, you know, I spent all my money to
- 1:24:17get there or an extra 5 bucks like, you know, I think that's a
- 1:24:21good way to do it. And you guys were so gracious
- 1:24:24the whole group of you right detour.
- 1:24:27He might borderland horde you guys funhouse Giovanni toy Ford.
- 1:24:34Who am I missing? Who am I missing?
- 1:24:37Immortal collections. Immortal Collections.
- 1:24:41Everyone was cool enough. To like, think this idea, the
- 1:24:44first alliance thing would be a cool way to do it right?
- 1:24:46And I appreciate that. And I can't.
- 1:24:49Thank you guys enough for taking a risk and wanting to do that.
- 1:24:53No, it's it's awesome. You know I was, yeah.
- 1:24:55Thank you. Definitely last year, speaking
- 1:24:58to a few people and especially Anthony, it was like, I'd love
- 1:25:01to be involved in something like like what Len and his kind of
- 1:25:04yeah, you know, Corner did and a little bit what Anthony had
- 1:25:07done. There was a bit of a section
- 1:25:08there as well with Steph and Mark.
- 1:25:11And so it's cool that yeah, kind of like similar minded kind of
- 1:25:15groups who kind of get on and and have a similar kind of
- 1:25:19theme. And a lot of like it is going to
- 1:25:21be dwarfy in some of the tables for sure.
- 1:25:24And but that's what you gotta expect.
- 1:25:26But there is still a lot of variety.
- 1:25:27You know, it'll be Dublin as well.
- 1:25:29We have the malignancy, forgot the malignancy and Danto and
- 1:25:32Tobin. That's true.
- 1:25:33Yeah, yeah. Max, Dean, Maxine will be there.
- 1:25:36Yeah, yeah, absolutely. He's down.
- 1:25:38I think he is sharing with Mark or Anthony.
- 1:25:41Yeah, I think they're in the same little cluster.
- 1:25:42Yeah, Yeah, it will be. Very dwarfing in that section.
- 1:25:45Not that there's anything wrong with that.
- 1:25:46That is no, I think you know a lot of the.
- 1:25:48Coolest customs I've seen are worse.
- 1:25:50I mean, we were, I was talking to Mal probably on the show and
- 1:25:54off the show over the last while there's been a few cosmic dwarf
- 1:25:58customs now that have been really, really good from
- 1:26:01different customizers fighting the urge and because there
- 1:26:04isn't. That there isn't that many.
- 1:26:06Dwarfs in cosmic, I think that makes them even more like, oh,
- 1:26:10you know, this is cool because you don't have much to compare
- 1:26:13them with in terms of the line itself.
- 1:26:16You know, looking at my notes to make sure.
- 1:26:19I have one more. Thing totally free, yeah.
- 1:26:21So other thing that will be at the table, you can see them
- 1:26:25behind me if you see. The.
- 1:26:27Red Templar, The White Templar set up.
- 1:26:30So those are 3D printed backdrops.
- 1:26:34I actually have a Dwarf 1 handy. Oh yeah.
- 1:26:37Oh wow, there you go. Yeah, a lot that's.
- 1:26:39Amazing. So it's.
- 1:26:41Basically like a giant key chain, right?
- 1:26:43Like that's. Really what it is the way this
- 1:26:44works is when you put it in the printer, you put it this way
- 1:26:47face down and it builds it and the 1st 2 layers have all the
- 1:26:51designs and then everything else does it.
- 1:26:53So you get to build and then you just paint.
- 1:26:55Over the Nope, no paint. Oh no, it's just a different
- 1:26:58color. Yeah, it prints this way.
- 1:26:59It's just two different colors of filament.
- 1:27:02Brilliant, so the machines I have can do up to four?
- 1:27:04Colors of filament. Well, technically up to 16, but
- 1:27:07the way I'm set up four. So basically it prints it, it
- 1:27:10comes pre colored in. You don't got to paint it.
- 1:27:13I thought these would be kind of neat as I'm just trying it out
- 1:27:17right, like I'm those will be super limited, like think two or
- 1:27:21three first time, right, Like I don't know if people will like
- 1:27:27it. I'm not positive.
- 1:27:29Yeah, yeah, it's it's tricky to people will.
- 1:27:33We'll see. I don't know we'll.
- 1:27:34We will see I. Don't I don't know, right, I
- 1:27:36hope I hope they do, but I want to see legions con for me every
- 1:27:41year is always we always like to bring stuff to test it.
- 1:27:45Like do they like it? OK, cool, like it.
- 1:27:48Or sometimes they think someone's going to think they're
- 1:27:51going to like something. And last year we brought these
- 1:27:54circle dwarf stands. I thought for sure at 10 bucks
- 1:27:57they were going to be gone. I went, we put we'll be bringing
- 1:27:59them back this year and they'll be on clearance because they
- 1:28:01didn't do well, right? We don't know.
- 1:28:04We don't know. Yeah.
- 1:28:04So. Oh.
- 1:28:05Talk to me about it like. It's even like our episode.
- 1:28:08Sometimes they go, oh, that's, that was such a brilliant
- 1:28:10episode. You know, it's going to, you
- 1:28:12know, people are going to love this.
- 1:28:13And it's like you get hardly any feedback.
- 1:28:14And, you know, then another episode, it's just kind of we
- 1:28:17didn't prep that much and we just kind of did.
- 1:28:19And you're like, oh, that was OK.
- 1:28:21We got away with it. And it's like everyone's like,
- 1:28:23oh, I was so good. And you're like, OK, I'm.
- 1:28:27Never going to figure. This out.
- 1:28:28So yeah, then that's the that's the thing.
- 1:28:30So I I've been. Doing these for my display, you
- 1:28:32can see it behind me. Obviously the one sons of the
- 1:28:35Red Star one will not be coming because that is a no, no.
- 1:28:37That is for Chris only. But the Templar ones, I'll have
- 1:28:41Templars in every single color a couple.
- 1:28:45And then I've got some of my own designs, like I did a custom one
- 1:28:48for Gadriel that's like Angel wings and sword.
- 1:28:51All that stuff will be there. And, you know, we're we're
- 1:28:56talking like, you know, that dwarf one will be like 20 bucks,
- 1:28:5825 bucks. It's not like it's gonna be
- 1:29:00expensive. Yeah.
- 1:29:01So that's crazy. That's what's coming.
- 1:29:03I wish I could show you more mythic bit stuff.
- 1:29:05I only thing I had to show for those yeah, is we got a couple
- 1:29:09of examples of the heads we'll have now this heads, who's your.
- 1:29:14Who's your sculptors? That you use or Diego mainly and
- 1:29:18then. This head's a Jason head.
- 1:29:20He let us modify and put a pirate head on.
- 1:29:22Oh cool. Very cool.
- 1:29:23So that's that's the Ansel. Dwarf Pirate.
- 1:29:26There's a couple of those. Coming this head.
- 1:29:29So if you guys, did you guys, did you guys play video games at
- 1:29:31all? When, when I had time, I did.
- 1:29:34Yeah, I know who it. Is or I think I know who it is
- 1:29:36it Doctor? Who is it?
- 1:29:38It is similar to Doctor Robotic or Doctor No.
- 1:29:42Is he used to be? No, but that's a good guess.
- 1:29:45The. Minds of Moria video game I've
- 1:29:49heard about. Oh man, we played that as a.
- 1:29:50Character creator, so. What I did was I went and made a
- 1:29:54few dwarfs and I went to Thiago and said, hey, can you make me
- 1:29:56something inspired by this? Because it's like it's a
- 1:29:59character creator for dwarfs. That's very cool.
- 1:30:02Through AI, this thing is cool. So I made a bunch of characters
- 1:30:07and I said, hey, can you do something inspired by this,
- 1:30:08right? Not exactly, but do something
- 1:30:11inspired. So a lot of the new head
- 1:30:13offerings this year. We're bringing back a lot of
- 1:30:15old. Favourites.
- 1:30:16We went through what sold last year, what was good.
- 1:30:19We're going to reprint more of what was good and then a lot of
- 1:30:22the new ones. This for sure this year.
- 1:30:25It is dwarf centric Awesome. Like a lot of different.
- 1:30:30And. There's still some.
- 1:30:32Or there has been I think the Dwarf Legion builder possibly
- 1:30:35sold out now than was on storehouse or if we can build,
- 1:30:38I'm sure they'll have them there.
- 1:30:39But yeah, Dwarf, yeah, we. Sold out.
- 1:30:41I think that Legion builder sold out twice.
- 1:30:43Yeah, I think so too. The Deluxe.
- 1:30:45Ones sold out, then they brought a couple. 100 back magically
- 1:30:48appeared in inventory. Those are gone.
- 1:30:50Again, I'm just saying, not saying that we a lot.
- 1:30:53I'm just saying there's other them out there, other fans.
- 1:30:58Yeah, that. For sure aren't buying.
- 1:31:00Enough of their. Bar.
- 1:31:01Buying enough stuff I see them white.
- 1:31:02Templars are still there. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:31:04They they, there was a lot of. Them.
- 1:31:06But yeah, I. Think the vampires are almost
- 1:31:08gone too. That is a yes.
- 1:31:10That's a great body. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:31:12Speaking of license place so. For those you don't know, you
- 1:31:17can totally cut up this vampire hat.
- 1:31:21Yeah. Oh, wow.
- 1:31:23Put it on the Wizards. Oh.
- 1:31:29Wow, I see. Wow.
- 1:31:29But that's that's like a Arzak or one of the Poxus.
- 1:31:32Wizards. Basically there is a Yep.
- 1:31:34Wow, that's good. Pronounce his name's all right
- 1:31:37now. No problem, No problem.
- 1:31:38That's. What we're here for.
- 1:31:40And awesome. So yeah, I think.
- 1:31:43Our favorite Welshman. Going on not not rich.
- 1:31:46He was definitely a big fan. I remember talking to him about
- 1:31:48the mines and Mario game that I must play it.
- 1:31:50But I think the last game I got a chance to play was probably
- 1:31:53God of War. The for I wanted to play the
- 1:31:57second one, but I it's just too much, just too much going on
- 1:32:01with the kids and the podcasts. And so it was like, kind of
- 1:32:06can't choose video games at this point of time, but it'll be
- 1:32:09there, you know, in the future, always there for you when you
- 1:32:12need it. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:32:14Right, Chris, So. How about we get out of this
- 1:32:17interview with looking at some of your customs that you sent.
- 1:32:20It's over and we can talk through a few of them.
- 1:32:22And so these are all on your table for sale.
- 1:32:27Yep, these are all my table for sale.
- 1:32:30My customs range average between to the.
- 1:32:34Lower ones will. Be about will be 8000 ish and
- 1:32:40then the middle is like 1:25 to 1:50 and then if you see
- 1:32:44something over 200 usually that means I really I I would prefer
- 1:32:50to go home with it could say 200's my top.
- 1:32:53The way I price my customs. So one usually I'm listening.
- 1:32:57To an audio book. When I'm doing my customs, we do
- 1:33:01this to relax. This brings my blood pressure
- 1:33:02down. Very healthy, so my time I don't
- 1:33:06really charge. For a lot.
- 1:33:07Of it is parts. What parts did I have to use to
- 1:33:11make this? Thing.
- 1:33:12Right. Yeah, the builder customs, I did
- 1:33:14those last year. I did the Templars last year.
- 1:33:16I think I was doing those for like 75 bucks.
- 1:33:19Awesome. You know, one color.
- 1:33:21So this is in that. Lower this guy's in that.
- 1:33:23Lower scale, Yeah, little bit of detail work.
- 1:33:26Flop out beard this is. A dwarf?
- 1:33:28Are you still doing the beards with mythic?
- 1:33:30Bits or do they? Yeah.
- 1:33:31Beards are coming We I Rita. It's funny, last year we.
- 1:33:33Weren't going to bring them, Yeah, 'cause we were like, all
- 1:33:35right, this fat has passed. The pet rock is.
- 1:33:37Over. We're good.
- 1:33:39And we again last year, everyone like it's like everyone restocks
- 1:33:44at Regions Con. I'll have people walk up.
- 1:33:46Yeah. Can I get like the beards you
- 1:33:48always buy from us online? Yeah, I just restock at Legions
- 1:33:51Con. OK, so we're going to bring
- 1:33:53them. We got 2.
- 1:33:54Varieties, right? We got the clip.
- 1:33:55ONS for the armored face, and then we got these, which peg in
- 1:33:59to the barbarian head and the dwarf head.
- 1:34:04Oh, from the deluxe wave? Yeah, Yep, Yep.
- 1:34:06And these honestly of the. Two products, the Peg beards are
- 1:34:09better products, like they're scaled better.
- 1:34:12Like the clip beards are awesome for what they were, but they
- 1:34:15were a little big, you know, because yeah, they're kind of
- 1:34:17bombastic. I like them though.
- 1:34:19And they can. I use them in one of my customs
- 1:34:22last year. And it was cool.
- 1:34:24Yeah. Like, I love this tour helmet.
- 1:34:26Yeah, it really is. It really is cool.
- 1:34:29Yeah, and right. We got a couple of ladies here.
- 1:34:32Yeah. So these are my twins.
- 1:34:34Umm. So this head is a not for sale
- 1:34:38head. It will not be for sale on the
- 1:34:39table. Is that one of the ones that you
- 1:34:42can? Get in the drawings.
- 1:34:43Then there'll be a couple I I have a couple leftover prints.
- 1:34:47That will be then. These are the ELF versions.
- 1:34:49So there is a human version of this head that exists that was
- 1:34:52prototyped. It will not be in anything
- 1:34:56except someone else's table at Legions.
- 1:35:00Con in the 1st. Alliance might have a custom or
- 1:35:03two with the human version of this head because these are two
- 1:35:06hot I. Think you might have seen?
- 1:35:10It might have seen it so these. Are these are going to be?
- 1:35:14Sold as a pair I don't want to split.
- 1:35:16Them up, you know, so good. So this is a kind of black skin.
- 1:35:22Toned head person woman I guess with this really cool kind of
- 1:35:29almost kind of flip over long curly hair that just kind of
- 1:35:31flips over to one side. Yep.
- 1:35:33And half healthiers you can't see it from.
- 1:35:36The picture, but OK, they're half else and how did is this as
- 1:35:40some sort of a? Transfer this thing on the this
- 1:35:43kind of symbol on the chest. It's a permanent vinyl on the
- 1:35:46chest because I got lazy and. Didn't want to airbrush it and
- 1:35:50so in case anyone I wouldn't say duna, you have to do.
- 1:35:53A vinyl design and print it. That's not really that lazy.
- 1:35:56I designed it, printed it, cut it, laid it.
- 1:35:59Down Also, in case anyone was wondering so they don't feel
- 1:36:02like they're cheated, the body tone is not the stets original
- 1:36:06skin tone. I repainted the head to toe.
- 1:36:08Oh wow, it's a head to toe repaint.
- 1:36:09It's a custom skin tone. I mixed myself.
- 1:36:12Awesome. And and there's.
- 1:36:14A little little cut work, because you can't really.
- 1:36:16Have a Chris Custom and you can't have a premium custom from
- 1:36:19the Pharaoh's forged out of cut work.
- 1:36:21The belt on the girl with the white hair I believe is from
- 1:36:24Olivia's headdress. That's awesome.
- 1:36:28The bird from Olivia's headdress?
- 1:36:30Yeah. That have a little belt.
- 1:36:32Buckle. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:36:33The belt buckle. 'S headdress.
- 1:36:35Yeah, that's. That's amazing.
- 1:36:37They're my favorite thing. These are of the things.
- 1:36:39I've done this year, they're in my top couple.
- 1:36:42Like I really enjoyed this one. There's not.
- 1:36:46It's a smaller market, the female.
- 1:36:47Customs, I think, A because it's difficult, and B, because I
- 1:36:52think people, there's probably less people just doing it, you
- 1:36:56know? Kind of.
- 1:36:58They're more attracted to the 1.0 scale.
- 1:37:00It's just a thing. So funny.
- 1:37:02Funny story real quick, my first year.
- 1:37:05I actually had a customer give feedback.
- 1:37:07They were at my table and I only had like one female custom and
- 1:37:10she was she said I wish you had more girl customs.
- 1:37:13And I was like, it's the last year I did more and like this
- 1:37:16year I'm like that stuck with me.
- 1:37:18That just stuck with me. I'm like, so I think I think
- 1:37:20this year of the 40 I'm bringing, I think 10.
- 1:37:24So a full quarter are female customs.
- 1:37:27Awesome. That's.
- 1:37:29That's. Open the quota and good.
- 1:37:32But as I say, if you don't see many female customs, the
- 1:37:36different tables, half of it is not because it's female, it's
- 1:37:39because it's difficult because it's a smaller scale and that's
- 1:37:43a bit more tricky. Now here's another awesome
- 1:37:45female with it's a it's a with a load of skeleton heads coming
- 1:37:52out of the what looks like the weapons are the kind of wizard
- 1:37:57kind of effect pieces. So there's my necromancer only.
- 1:38:02Difference with the one that'll be there.
- 1:38:04I've. Swapped those solid heads out
- 1:38:05for two blue clear Haginon heads.
- 1:38:08I thought that looked way cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:38:11Those are the wizard. Spell effects.
- 1:38:13I heat gun those. And I rewrap them around her and
- 1:38:16cool. That's a genius idea.
- 1:38:18So they're. Yeah.
- 1:38:19So they're. Completely wrapped, but it's
- 1:38:20like they're. Meant to go that way.
- 1:38:21Now there's some glue on them. Getting the figure apart is
- 1:38:24going to be a really big pain in the butt, so whoever hopefully
- 1:38:26whoever buys it doesn't try to take it apart.
- 1:38:30Xerian head from Cosmic. My one of my favorite heads of
- 1:38:34the paint looks super elf looking staff.
- 1:38:38You know another one cobbled together that's a regular
- 1:38:41skeleton with the part on the top cut out so it can fit in the
- 1:38:44circle of the staff that used to be the the Basilia.
- 1:38:47The new Basilia staff we got. Favorite belt?
- 1:38:52Probably. Favorite new belt from the
- 1:38:53Cosmic from the cosmic alien guy.
- 1:38:54The grey alien belt is awesome. Oh, that is yeah.
- 1:38:58I wish they would put it on. Some mythic figures.
- 1:39:01But she was fun build, you know, went really dark around the skin
- 1:39:05tone. So I thought that was like a
- 1:39:08cool, I don't know, Necromancer. I just want to make it
- 1:39:10necromancer. Yeah, It looks almost like
- 1:39:12there's a. There's almost.
- 1:39:14Like a bit of green in the skin tone.
- 1:39:16A little bit. Yeah.
- 1:39:17Yeah, it makes a little bit. It's the way the when I matted
- 1:39:21it and then put another finish on it, it kind of gave that vibe
- 1:39:24to it. Plus I think the it's the main
- 1:39:27effects also just kind of maybe. Brings it.
- 1:39:29Yeah, Cool. Next one.
- 1:39:32This is a dwarf for the cool. Beard and yeah, I guess this is
- 1:39:38one of your kind of more lower tier customs, yeah.
- 1:39:42Basic, basic. Custom.
- 1:39:44So it's a cavern dwarf. With a bit of.
- 1:39:46Paint work, a little bit of paint.
- 1:39:48And whose beard? Who guys whose beard that is?
- 1:39:51That's ours, isn't it? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:54So that's one of the beards. Off the wind.
- 1:39:56Yep, one of the beards off the. Wizards I transplanted.
- 1:39:58That. Got it to fit on a peg to stick
- 1:40:00it up inside the helmet. So even though even though Chris
- 1:40:03does. Beards is part of mythic bits.
- 1:40:05He's still slice and beards off figures.
- 1:40:08How do that's a cool? It's a cool beard, man.
- 1:40:11Like it is. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:40:13The best paint on this figure is.
- 1:40:14Probably I should have. Taken the picture, the shield is
- 1:40:17fully repainted. That oh awesome, so that's that
- 1:40:20dwarf shield that we would have got. 1st with Bromden, yeah,
- 1:40:23people know which one it is. Yeah, fully repainted Shield.
- 1:40:26So this is one of those lower. End you know eighty $100 like
- 1:40:29this is what I this is like an awesome custom yeah I mean.
- 1:40:34This fire, dude, I love it. Red Death.
- 1:40:36You did. I remember around the time of
- 1:40:38Red Death this out and you you did a good few customs with the
- 1:40:42Red Death parts and I was like, well, yeah, I should have bought
- 1:40:45more Red Deaths, but you know, I also had other things going on,
- 1:40:48so I just wouldn't have had the time.
- 1:40:50This is amazing. This is my pyromancer.
- 1:40:53But it's funny, I brought those. Red Death customs last year so
- 1:40:56leaves Cotton didn't even get a second look at the table.
- 1:40:59They're all coming back this year cause none of them really.
- 1:41:01I think it was such a new figure.
- 1:41:03Nobody really realized what was going on.
- 1:41:04But this one with the twins my one of my favorites a lot.
- 1:41:10Of it is. The fading is all hand painted
- 1:41:13and some days you just get really lucky with paint and it
- 1:41:17all works out and I. Think I did a pretty.
- 1:41:19Good job on the fading of the fire effect like the fire.
- 1:41:24It is head, so it's not just Red Death pulled out, it's a head.
- 1:41:27So repaint the fire colors are painted inside of all of his
- 1:41:31skin openings. Brilliant.
- 1:41:34It's painted on the inside. For fire.
- 1:41:36On those it's like he's smoldering it.
- 1:41:39You guys know where his horns are from and looks?
- 1:41:43Familiar, but no So. And that's a pox's head, is it?
- 1:41:47Yeah, Pox's head. No, Don't know who.
- 1:41:50That horns from believe. Those are from Novine Lean.
- 1:41:54Oh the that if I'm not mistaken. Oh, the little.
- 1:41:58Mandible things are. Is it?
- 1:42:02Are they not? I think so.
- 1:42:03Is it not umm Tiger? Like tiger, is it not his bits
- 1:42:08thick? Oh, no, Tiger, you're right.
- 1:42:09Tiger, Tiger, Tiger. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:42:11That's I don't do cosmic, so I don't.
- 1:42:12Really know their names, I just use.
- 1:42:14Them for father yeah tiger so those are those are off the
- 1:42:17tiger so also. This is.
- 1:42:22A Novian Lean. Head on a tiger.
- 1:42:26And so the Novian Lean head is painted to match the tiger, and
- 1:42:29it's got these awesome horns coming out the side of the the
- 1:42:32novian lean head Marvel Legends build a figure.
- 1:42:36King Thor or Odin, whichever one they called it from way back in
- 1:42:41the day, I had that helmet. I ripped the horns off and I
- 1:42:44thought I had to cover up the tech.
- 1:42:46And so I pulled the tech out of his face, made a little hole.
- 1:42:49I thought the horns gave it that aliens like, you know that.
- 1:42:51Yeah, that that, that kind of Predator look.
- 1:42:55Yeah, I thought that was kind of what I was going for.
- 1:42:58I know this came out pretty cool too.
- 1:43:00Absolutely superb. And and what are the upper legs?
- 1:43:04There are they? Some sort of Yeah, it's cloth
- 1:43:08pants. I can't.
- 1:43:10Remember cloth pants? Yeah, cloth pants.
- 1:43:12OK. Cool.
- 1:43:14Here's a bunch of customs so. You don't do cosmic but you
- 1:43:18still have by cosmic figures for customs.
- 1:43:20It looks like I do I do. So this is like pirate crew
- 1:43:23from. The last lucky that's the name
- 1:43:25of their ship, the. Cosmic Guy is like so long have.
- 1:43:30You guys ever played D&D back in the day?
- 1:43:33No, there is a setting called Spell.
- 1:43:35Jammer. It was about like.
- 1:43:36Going into space and stuff I just thought it'd be cool to use
- 1:43:39a cosmic cus he's really nothing special.
- 1:43:41Like he's just some fur and some cloth kids.
- 1:43:42I don't really do anything to him, but I thought it was cool
- 1:43:46to have like. An alien as.
- 1:43:48The ship. 'S mage pirates, obviously a lot
- 1:43:52of Marley parts with some McFarlane Jack Sparrow parts
- 1:43:57thrown in there or Diamond, Diamond select one of those two.
- 1:44:01I think it's I think it's McFarlane Jack Sparrow on a
- 1:44:04that's a barger head. I was going to say it looks like
- 1:44:09a barger head. It's Barger.
- 1:44:10Head the female. Is another female costume which
- 1:44:14you can't see with her, which you'll see when you get there.
- 1:44:16I took the lower legs off of a McFarland Wonder Woman.
- 1:44:20She's rocking. No, I'm sorry, not lower legs.
- 1:44:22The Gauntlets, Ralph McFarlane and then the.
- 1:44:26Dwarf is, you know, it's a. Dwarf, it's got Calavius's
- 1:44:28helmet with the thing taken off and routed down and turned into
- 1:44:32more of a hat with a, you know, hook arm and stuff like that.
- 1:44:36So pretty cool. I, I, I just want to do a pirate
- 1:44:38crew. It was when Marley came out, I
- 1:44:40went pirate. I was like, everything has to be
- 1:44:43in the Pirates. Absolutely.
- 1:44:45Yeah, and that's what we need. In mythics, anyways.
- 1:44:47Pirates. Oh, let's go right.
- 1:44:49Here's another guy with the Marley coat.
- 1:44:51Marley coat. There's like 1/2 dwarf so he's a
- 1:44:53little. Taller than a dwarf, shorter
- 1:44:54than human. Monkey king lower legs there.
- 1:44:57Looks like monkey king lower legs.
- 1:44:59Everything repainted again. Yep, the.
- 1:45:01Forearms are from those are. Those are using.
- 1:45:05We actually make forearm blanks so you can flip on fodder.
- 1:45:09Those are from croc master from GI Joe classified.
- 1:45:12Awesome Torgon. Head and a hat is from.
- 1:45:16AWWE Sheamus figure. Oh, no way.
- 1:45:19Yeah Yeah. Fits on Torgon.
- 1:45:23I don't know, I thought I. Wanted to make like a.
- 1:45:26I'm sitting there and I'm like, I really want to use this coat.
- 1:45:29How do I do it so I it's not the?
- 1:45:31Marley Blue. It's my own.
- 1:45:32Blue. But I like the blue because it's
- 1:45:35like, yeah, it's I don't take blueberries.
- 1:45:37Yeah, it don't take blue. So I might find the same.
- 1:45:39Yeah, my Blues are probably one of my least.
- 1:45:42Used paints and I try to use them a bit more so this one of
- 1:45:46my I I really enjoyed. Making this custom with the
- 1:45:48Monkey King legs. He's like a collector, you know?
- 1:45:51He's obviously got a ring of keys and stuff like that.
- 1:45:53So I love the ring. I love just the ring of keys
- 1:45:55hanging off the belt, you know? Everyone kind of can relate to
- 1:45:58that, yeah, as a type and that ring is from I want.
- 1:46:02To say one of those import tiger martial arts tiger figure, I
- 1:46:07think it's like his place or something like that turned to a
- 1:46:10key ring. I know right?
- 1:46:11Let's I just pick random parts from stuff but he's a fun figure
- 1:46:15to love him. This is left theory over from
- 1:46:18last year. So.
- 1:46:21Gladiator. Used it right there.
- 1:46:23The thing? With this figure.
- 1:46:24So those. Forearms slip on.
- 1:46:28Those are not. Those are slip over, so they
- 1:46:30slip. Over the red desk, he drilled
- 1:46:32through the the forearms. Yeah, to get the same thing with
- 1:46:36the lower legs, I cut the lower legs I.
- 1:46:38I howled them out and I took the chest, the old OG chest straps
- 1:46:43and reform the back of the leg using straps so those are
- 1:46:46actually removable too. So underneath this is a fully
- 1:46:49painted red death body for and a gladiator.
- 1:46:54Brilliant. Very cool, really nice.
- 1:46:57Next we have two more Red Death customs.
- 1:46:59Yep, green and green. 1 is great, repaint the other.
- 1:47:04One is McFarlane Baraka's head on a red depth and then I use
- 1:47:11dye. Remover to change.
- 1:47:12The color of the robe from Oh I remember you posting the the die
- 1:47:16removed. Goat.
- 1:47:17Yeah. What courtesy is?
- 1:47:18He'll call it the P. He'll call it the PP.
- 1:47:20Robe. Yeah, it is.
- 1:47:23You. You were kind.
- 1:47:24Of it, it was kind of a roll the dice, see what happens, kind of,
- 1:47:28yeah, this is what you got. It's like choose your own
- 1:47:29adventure. I actually have a bunch of.
- 1:47:31I have a bunch of that. Stuff I haven't had time to take
- 1:47:34a bunch of other soft goods Yeah and I really want to try it on
- 1:47:38Calazier stuff because it should keep the IT should keep the
- 1:47:42vinyl stickers but change the color.
- 1:47:45I really want to try it ontology or stuff that'd be fun.
- 1:47:48Have you ever done anything with the clocks that?
- 1:47:49Come with Red death, I gave a bunch away last year.
- 1:47:53Gotcha. Like so I think I put.
- 1:47:58This picture on accident. I think this figure is.
- 1:48:00Gone OK, we could go pass the coop.
- 1:48:02I don't think she's a. Dwarf.
- 1:48:04There we go. Yep, this dwarf.
- 1:48:06So this is my. I call her the Reforged.
- 1:48:10So Chris does not like skinny, Ragna does not I?
- 1:48:15Do not like skinny Ragna. I think the character, but yeah,
- 1:48:18I, I, I think this. Is a better representation I
- 1:48:21think this is so I wanted to make when I when we did the
- 1:48:24female chest. Plates last year my idea was it
- 1:48:28was female dwarfs right like let's be honest, like that was
- 1:48:30the main reason I did it right. So when I the first female
- 1:48:34custom I made, I was like I got to do Ragna I so I really
- 1:48:39studied the colors wanted to get that sky tealish blue metallic.
- 1:48:46But she comes she'll be at every legions con until someone buys
- 1:48:48her. She's on one of those I, you
- 1:48:51know, you know, she's priced like.
- 1:48:53She's like I. Don't really want to sell her
- 1:48:55price, yeah. She's like 225.
- 1:48:56Like she's like she's. Not worth.
- 1:48:58Here's the thing to be honest, it's a black painted figure.
- 1:49:01It is not worth 225 bucks right? If you pay that cool, but like
- 1:49:06there are other customs on that table that are cheaper than her
- 1:49:10that you should definitely spend your money on.
- 1:49:12But she's one of my favorite. So she gets brought every year,
- 1:49:15but it's it's what you like. You know I don't as well.
- 1:49:17You know, and yeah, and actually I was, I guess that dwarf Tupac
- 1:49:23is, is probably your most anticipated thing coming.
- 1:49:25I mean, you're, you're one of the the characters and isn't
- 1:49:29that right? I am.
- 1:49:30I got designated. I'm the bald guy with the beard.
- 1:49:33So that's fine. That's that's everyone that
- 1:49:35legions con. You know, I'm the weird, I'm the
- 1:49:38weirdo with. No beard and a bit.
- 1:49:40Of hair, Jeremy let us choose. Jeremy kind of let us.
- 1:49:43Choose which builds were. Hard.
- 1:49:44So obviously they were look, when Kevin and Anthony looked at
- 1:49:49me, they were like, really? Come on, God, come on, man.
- 1:49:51And I'm like, yeah, OK, I'll take I'll take the swarthy guy
- 1:49:53with the beard. It's fun.
- 1:49:55So yeah, when those parts, like I've got a bunch of those on
- 1:49:59pre-order, like yeah, the allegiance con following that 2
- 1:50:03pack is going to be, I might go. I don't know if I'll have
- 1:50:07another thing but a dwarf on my team.
- 1:50:11That's cool. I mean.
- 1:50:11There's there's going to be a lot of.
- 1:50:13People, I mean, I I definitely am looking forward to those
- 1:50:15parts as well as the figures themselves.
- 1:50:18Think about the dwarf customizers we have.
- 1:50:21The Kings of the Mountain is going to be.
- 1:50:23Crazy I mean and also for make. I was thinking for making cosmic
- 1:50:27dwarfs. Those types of parts are much,
- 1:50:30much easier to integrate into Cosmic with a bit of a paint job
- 1:50:33or whatever. He has to love that for his
- 1:50:35Cosmic minor crew. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:50:38Well, he might be, Might be. Swapping out a few, that's it.
- 1:50:42Like mix and match with the Novian Lean.
- 1:50:44Body and uh, you know, you got basically a dwarf Novian lean.
- 1:50:48So, you know, that would be that'd be really costume.
- 1:50:51Yeah, yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:50:53That's going to be. Actually really cool.
- 1:50:55Right we. Have a bear a.
- 1:50:57Guy with. A bear hat and a wolf.
- 1:51:00Yeah. So this is my most recent custom
- 1:51:02I'm calling on. My quarter frost giant.
- 1:51:05So brute scale. First time I did a brute scale
- 1:51:07custom. I repainted a calzier marvel
- 1:51:11legends donated a lot of parts to this custom.
- 1:51:13The shoulder pauldrons, the waist piece, that's all Marvel
- 1:51:19legends. The head is a Marvel legend
- 1:51:22scar. The new scar that came out this
- 1:51:24is an so this was this will be a pricey custom, but mainly just
- 1:51:28cause of the parts I had to use. So I paid 50 bucks for a scar
- 1:51:31just for that home. OK yeah, so right.
- 1:51:35I knew it. I was like, I need that head.
- 1:51:38The bare piece is from the fresh monkey fiction Santa Santa
- 1:51:42Claus. That's where I recognize it
- 1:51:44from. I just didn't.
- 1:51:46Want to be lazy so I painted it brown instead of.
- 1:51:48Leaving it white, the wolf is obviously GI Joe timber
- 1:51:52repainted into a Frost Wolf. So this will be officially the
- 1:51:56most expensive I've ever asked for a custom at Legions Con.
- 1:51:59It'll be like 300 for the combo. So it's for me for me.
- 1:52:04That's a lot like that is a lot in general, I know.
- 1:52:08That some. People charge not I, I, I
- 1:52:12understand, but it's very, you need to find that if you're
- 1:52:15going to sell it. It's going to be just someone
- 1:52:17that just flips. Yeah, got to be someone that's
- 1:52:19worth it. And listen if he comes home with
- 1:52:21me. Not going to be upset.
- 1:52:22Like I was very excited. I worked that's and then it's
- 1:52:25got a fur. The fur, the fur Cape is real.
- 1:52:28The cool thing with the fur Cape, it's on another part.
- 1:52:30We make Jeremy choose them this week for a custom.
- 1:52:33They're like black shoulder blades, so you just glue stuff
- 1:52:35onto them or put fodder on them so you can take the tape off.
- 1:52:38You don't get a fidget with it. It just unplugged from the back.
- 1:52:41Brilliant. And there is a.
- 1:52:44There is people that are really into the frost figures, I know
- 1:52:46that for sure. I love as well myself and that
- 1:52:49is the thing right? A bit of lights going on here
- 1:52:52with a dwarf, a little bit of light so.
- 1:52:56This is a fairly basic door. I won't say base of repaint.
- 1:52:59I everything is head to toe. Re.
- 1:53:00It's head to toe repaint. Yeah, but the gold's all done.
- 1:53:04The golds and army paint are gold.
- 1:53:07All the dots have been painted. Every single hammer, stroke and
- 1:53:13the custom pauldron were a gift from Anthony.
- 1:53:15Haussel. And I decided to install some
- 1:53:17lights in them so you can turn them on and off with magnets.
- 1:53:19Pop a magnet to it, turn the lights on.
- 1:53:22I thought it was pretty cool, like a dwarf palette.
- 1:53:24Yeah. That's so cool.
- 1:53:26And the head, the head is from, that's a mythic bits beard.
- 1:53:29I recognize that is a mythic bits beard.
- 1:53:31Yep, that's a mythic bits plug beard.
- 1:53:32And I. Am running low on those horns.
- 1:53:34I think that's my second to last pair of those horns they have go
- 1:53:39to Chris James's pop and swap. I know I'm I'm bringing so much
- 1:53:44cosmic to that. Pop and swap.
- 1:53:46Oh, Chris is your man. Mythic for cosmic.
- 1:53:50Malice already mentioned. It I need to find people that
- 1:53:53swap mythic for cosmic, Well, there's guess.
- 1:53:56Guess what our days are going to be?
- 1:53:57Spent doing I've got these if you're.
- 1:54:00So that's like that's, that's that dwarf.
- 1:54:03Just in there with a much better photo.
- 1:54:05Obviously that's so. That's really nice, actually.
- 1:54:08Yeah, yeah. Thank you.
- 1:54:09That's cool. But this?
- 1:54:10Like I said, the gold head to toe.
- 1:54:12Full airbrush job on the base coat.
- 1:54:15Is that the new Army painter? Gold?
- 1:54:17Yeah. So army painters I use I use
- 1:54:19almost. Exclusively Army.
- 1:54:21Did you get the new Fantastic paints?
- 1:54:23I've got a mental speed paints. They're they're supposed.
- 1:54:26To be good. They're not, they're not good.
- 1:54:27They're incredible. Are.
- 1:54:29They the first dwarf you showed, the one that's got the shiny
- 1:54:32finish to him. Yeah, that's out of the bottle.
- 1:54:35Just hand. Wow, awesome.
- 1:54:37They hand. Or airbrush.
- 1:54:39They are worth. Every dollar, yeah.
- 1:54:41Because I, I I. Think the one that's that they
- 1:54:45compare closest to is the metal colour from Vallejo.
- 1:54:48The you know the ones in the bigger bottles because I have
- 1:54:50Vallejo metal colours. They're.
- 1:54:53I would say they're better because they they, they.
- 1:54:57Finish with a candy coat. That's already have some
- 1:55:01durability built into it. Oh yeah, yeah, versus the
- 1:55:04Vallejo where I still. Have to add that.
- 1:55:06To it furnish I have found with the metal speed.
- 1:55:09Paint you really. Don't need to add the varnish
- 1:55:11the same way. Oh sweet.
- 1:55:12Yeah, that's good. Because, you know, then you're
- 1:55:14not. Worried about the finish as
- 1:55:15such. Yeah, and does and I think I
- 1:55:19mentioned. Before the metal color.
- 1:55:20Doesn't have a good gold, so you can already say here the three.
- 1:55:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's it's I.
- 1:55:26Would highly recommend them. So this is my vampire.
- 1:55:28Dwarf. Speaking of metal speed paint,
- 1:55:30Yeah, well, we're sorry Rich isn't here, but.
- 1:55:33Otherwise he would love that, but he's hiding from Anthony so
- 1:55:37I. I thought this was I always.
- 1:55:40Want to make a vampire dwarf? When I figured out the helmet
- 1:55:46could be cut off someone showed the vampire helmet with I can't
- 1:55:50remember who and I want to give them credit.
- 1:55:52Whoever you are that showed you can pull the vamp.
- 1:55:55I don't know how I never thought about pulling the face out
- 1:55:57because like usually my first thing but never did.
- 1:56:01Someone showed that months ago on the cabal and I they deserve
- 1:56:05all the credit in the world and I wish I wrote their name down
- 1:56:07but they deserve credit so no problem I.
- 1:56:11Was like oh crap. Well.
- 1:56:13What else can I do with this? So I cut the chin strap off,
- 1:56:15figured out it fits perfectly with the head pack.
- 1:56:20Jordan bootleg Jordan head. Oh cool, and it covers up that.
- 1:56:25Unsightly hole. That's left by Jordan's helmet.
- 1:56:29So we did that. And then from there, I'm like,
- 1:56:30well, it's a vampire helmet. Let's take a bargain.
- 1:56:33Make a vampire dwarf. Superb.
- 1:56:36Yeah, very. Cool and cat cavern.
- 1:56:38Dwarf repainted? Yeah, using Mcfarland's
- 1:56:41McFarland. Batman's big old honkin
- 1:56:45barbarian. Batman's bat built.
- 1:56:47Brilliant. It's good, yeah.
- 1:56:50Yeah, I'm going to be enjoying looking at the stuff in your
- 1:56:52table. So we've got 2 more left.
- 1:56:54This is another awesome female sculpt head sculpt built on an
- 1:57:00Artemis it looks like to me. Artemis, I want to say I.
- 1:57:04Repented the arms. I did repaint the arms because
- 1:57:07they matched the face. So the arms are repainted.
- 1:57:10The face is Thrace, the hairs for Marvel legend she.
- 1:57:14Hulk, the new one. That just came out.
- 1:57:16Looks really good. Brilliant, it looks.
- 1:57:19Yeah, she is. So I've already had someone.
- 1:57:22Is already trying to work like a pre buy like he.
- 1:57:26I think this figure after my. My wife.
- 1:57:28So she's on the higher end, but he's like, I want So what?
- 1:57:33So this so for the for the people listening on some if you.
- 1:57:38Want to walk up to me with one of those?
- 1:57:41Red Knights from the Armory experience that's got the exact
- 1:57:45build I'm looking for which is the Templar build they showed in
- 1:57:48the box. Work out of store credit
- 1:57:51situation. Nice, There you go.
- 1:57:54You know what would it take that?
- 1:57:55Until I got enough of those. You know those could be used as
- 1:57:57currency. Just DM me before to find out.
- 1:58:03So that's a good idea. Another one I was.
- 1:58:07Again, feed pill figures are hard to paint, Speed paints make
- 1:58:10them easier. This is fully speed paint.
- 1:58:13I had bought the Thor Destroyer pack because I'm going to dye
- 1:58:16the destroyer red the whole armor, so I didn't put a Thor
- 1:58:20with it. Thought the helmet was cool.
- 1:58:22Thrace again repainting the hair.
- 1:58:26I thought it'd be a cool avatar for like a Thor type custom and
- 1:58:29just a cool way to repaint the phenol.
- 1:58:32Yeah, it's really nice. Really.
- 1:58:34Braces have so. Good.
- 1:58:35So useful, yeah. Just so it sure is.
- 1:58:39You got those magnifying? Glasses, Chris, roll that small
- 1:58:41details. No, Bob, yes, I have.
- 1:58:45Magnifying glasses. I paint most of stuff without
- 1:58:49them. Unless I have to do eyes.
- 1:58:51I do my dots without it. I mean like painting for me,
- 1:58:58Like the way I classify everything, right?
- 1:59:00I look at the community in tears.
- 1:59:04Right? That's new.
- 1:59:05People and then you got like your big giant middle class and
- 1:59:09I feel like I'm in the middle class.
- 1:59:10And then you got like your your Eric Miller.
- 1:59:14'S your Giovanni. 'S your meals that are just I, I
- 1:59:18like, you know, the Sistine Chapel where like it's the
- 1:59:20perfect mural. They they hit that almost every
- 1:59:24time, right. And some of the other guys hit
- 1:59:27it like I think I hit it once in a while where I'll hit something
- 1:59:29and I'll be like, damn, that was really good, but firmly in the
- 1:59:33middle class, right. I'm, I'm forgetting top tier
- 1:59:36painters. You know, they're a bear blaze.
- 1:59:38Oh yeah, it does loads. It does like loads.
- 1:59:41You know, we, we can't aim them all.
- 1:59:43What I think makes mythic lesions different than other
- 1:59:46customizing? Groups.
- 1:59:47We have a thriving middle class. Yeah, I mean, and it should.
- 1:59:52Yeah, and people. Shouldn't shouldn't feel bad
- 1:59:54about not being able to paint like Eric, for example or
- 1:59:57whatever. And that's a lot of practice,
- 2:00:00you know. Yeah, I mean you think about I
- 2:00:02got displayed my customs next to Joe.
- 2:00:04So yeah, that's, that's a tough station.
- 2:00:06Yeah, it's a tough Rd. It's a tough Rd.
- 2:00:08To hell that. The only hope you have is that
- 2:00:11Giovanni. Normally doesn't have that many
- 2:00:13because there's such high quality.
- 2:00:15He sells out enough hours. He sells out and there's not
- 2:00:18enough hours in the day to do that good at customs.
- 2:00:22They they they aren't done quickly.
- 2:00:25Well, Chris, this was an awesome chat.
- 2:00:28I can't wait to see you in legions con in a couple of weeks
- 2:00:31time. But seven weeks time, I suppose
- 2:00:33around the time of this recording 6 maybe by the time we
- 2:00:36released this Yeah. So it's it's amazing.
- 2:00:40Absolutely. Amazing.
- 2:00:41Thank you guys for having me. I really, really, really, really
- 2:00:43appreciate it. No, I really appreciate you
- 2:00:45taking the time is. Superb.
- 2:00:47Cheers, Chris. Yeah, stay safe.
- 2:00:51Out there.
