- 28:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:02SPEAKER_14: You know, he's like, he uh he uh he identified Dizzy Gillespie already, right like right away.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: Oh sure, oh yeah.
- 28:07SPEAKER_14: He's like, I can tell you that's Dizzy Gillespie, you know, and he pointed out a couple other people, and then I didn't realize that right on the bottom it showed who they were.
- 28:15SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:16SPEAKER_14: And it's just so you know, when it starts on the bottom to tell who they are, like on the left, yeah, that's the top.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: So it's starting top there?
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Starting on the top.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah.

- 28:33SPEAKER_02: It is an amazing picture.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: I and the fact I've never seen it is amazing.

- 29:05SPEAKER_14: Oh, right here, yeah.
- 29:06SPEAKER_14: Oh, yes, yes, yes.
- 29:07SPEAKER_14: That's Count Basie.
- 29:08SPEAKER_12: Wow, man, that is freaking amazing.
- 29:10SPEAKER_12: Isn't that cool?
- 29:12SPEAKER_14: And so he had said when he gave me that first package, he said, well, there's a lot more where that came from.
- 29:18SPEAKER_14: You know, he's not kidding.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: I I I can imagine.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: You know what's amazing about that picture?

- 29:28SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: That's what that that is what that is the beauty of music.
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Beauty, yeah, music does not see color.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, that especially in jazz.
- 29:38SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:39SPEAKER_14: Yeah, you're right.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: This is just, you know, and like this is 58, man.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: This is, you know.

- 29:44SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 29:45SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: But so, I mean, that's that's just history right there.
- 29:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 29:51SPEAKER_14: Benny Goodman must be in there.
- 29:52SPEAKER_14: I didn't even look at it.
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: No, Benny Goodman was dead.
- 29:54SPEAKER_14: At that point?
- 29:55SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 29:55SPEAKER_14: Yeah.

- 30:12SPEAKER_14: I didn't know that.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:14SPEAKER_02: It was either Glenn Miller or Benny Goodman.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: I can't remember which one.
- 30:18SPEAKER_14: Not that we're gonna spend time on it, but that's interesting.

- 38:06SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 38:06SPEAKER_14: Did I tell you about them?
- 38:07SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 38:08SPEAKER_14: And did we play any of their music?
- 38:09SPEAKER_14: No.
- 38:10SPEAKER_14: No.
- 38:11SPEAKER_14: Because it was really good.
- 38:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 38:13SPEAKER_14: I mean, their original stuff is really, really good.
- 38:15SPEAKER_14: But they covered Rock and Roll Fantasy on this uh tribute, and I just want to play a piece of it because I think it's pretty good.
- 38:21SPEAKER_07: Um, I'm gonna go to the body.
- 39:42SPEAKER_14: He uh it was they're just a uh four-piece band.
- 39:46SPEAKER_14: So it's bass, drums, and guitar, and then the lead singer.
- 39:48SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 39:49SPEAKER_14: And his guitar I don't know, he must have obviously had uh cabinets on both sides because uh like an stereo or something, because his guitar just filled that whole place.
- 40:02SPEAKER_14: It was amazing and really, really good, too.
- 40:05SPEAKER_14: So uh that is uh Can't get enough A Tribute to Bad Company.
- 40:09SPEAKER_14: That also comes out on October 24th.
- 40:12SPEAKER_14: On the 31st, Halloween! That's a reissue, that's a reissue, that's one we don't care about.

- 41:23SPEAKER_14: So they're re-releasing it?
- 41:24SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_14: With extra stuff?
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: I I don't know where they're finding all this stuff all of a sudden, but you know, they might as well, I suppose.
- 41:32SPEAKER_14: Uh we talked about Clapton's Journeyman.
- 41:34SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 41:34SPEAKER_14: They're doing a deluxe edition.

- 42:04SPEAKER_02: The Beatles.
- 42:10SPEAKER_13: Oh, by the way.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: Wait, is this the is this the DVD, like the actual anthology?
- 42:16SPEAKER_02: Remember the yeah.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: Like the whole series?
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:21SPEAKER_12: They're re-released.
- 42:22SPEAKER_12: Oh!
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, I was thinking just like the just the CD, you know, the you know, the companion CDs.
- 42:31SPEAKER_02: I didn't know they were releasing the whole thing.
- 42:33SPEAKER_14: 2025, yeah.
- 42:34unknown: Wow.
- 42:35SPEAKER_14: Okay, this this amps up my uh the original anthology albums remastered, volumes one through three.
- 42:43SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 42:44SPEAKER_14: New anthology album volume four.
- 42:46SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 42:48SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: But is it the the remember of the series, like the documentary?
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: Is that is that part of it?
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: But I didn't see the series.
- 42:55SPEAKER_14: Let's see, hold on.
- 42:58SPEAKER_14: What does it say?
- 42:59SPEAKER_14: So there's the book.
- 43:04SPEAKER_14: No.
- 43:05SPEAKER_14: Books and music.
- 43:10SPEAKER_14: Yeah, because I don't know what you would add to the the video.
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: No, that I mean that was pretty pretty complete, right?
- 43:16SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_14: I mean, uh, I don't know what you'd add to it.
- 43:18SPEAKER_14: Um, but that's still that's exciting.
- 43:20SPEAKER_14: That's kind of cool.
- 43:21SPEAKER_14: Very cool.
- 43:22SPEAKER_14: Pretty cool.
- 43:22SPEAKER_14: By the way, that just reminded me.
- 43:24SPEAKER_14: I don't know if I remember who sang it.
- 43:28SPEAKER_14: Um, but somebody I heard, and I almost think it was a female singer.
- 43:47SPEAKER_14: That did a version of Help that made you see what a kind of a truly sad song it was.
- 44:00SPEAKER_14: Uh it was a an actual sad song that had a catchy melody and a bouncing beat behind it.
- 44:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_14: But this this singer songwriter uh let's see.
- 44:16SPEAKER_14: It was one of the most moving pieces of music I've ever heard.
- 44:23SPEAKER_14: Um I don't remember who it was.
- 44:29SPEAKER_14: But it was fantastic.
- 44:30SPEAKER_14: And that's it's gonna bother me now.
- 44:33SPEAKER_14: But it was I'm just gonna play one of the first ones that I come to.
- 44:42SPEAKER_14: I don't think it was this one, but that's not that's not it.
- 44:52SPEAKER_14: No It wasn't uh because it didn't it sounded like help, but it didn't sound like help.
- 44:57SPEAKER_14: It was like a completely different song.
- 44:59SPEAKER_14: Um I'm gonna have to find it uh and and share it with you because it really was uh moving.
- 45:10SPEAKER_14: Um I'm not gonna spend any time on it right now.
- 45:14SPEAKER_14: Any more than I just did.
- 45:17SPEAKER_14: But uh we'll we'll we'll get that and I'll I'll show it to you, even if it's just to you personally.
- 45:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 45:23SPEAKER_14: Um let's see, let's see, and we're gonna save that one for next time.
- 45:28SPEAKER_14: Alright, so I think Oh!
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: We went to remember we went to music trivia night again.
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: Oh yes and we and we dominated the the the only other team in the in the room.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: And we lost.
- 45:39SPEAKER_02: And we lost again.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: Which is I think that's becoming our MO.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: It's kind of funny.
- 45:44SPEAKER_14: It really is.
- 45:44SPEAKER_14: So yeah, so it's name that tune.
- 45:47SPEAKER_14: Name that tune.
- 45:47SPEAKER_14: And we always well, I mean, I'm not we're not doing our own horn.
- 45:51SPEAKER_14: We always win.
- 45:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 45:52SPEAKER_14: We get the most points.
- 45:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 45:54SPEAKER_14: Um, usually by a lot.
- 45:56SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 45:56SPEAKER_14: Um, but there's always that question at the end, which is which is like the the the final jeopardy question.
- 46:02SPEAKER_14: And Charlie really does throw some kickers into it.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: Everyone has been like a head scratcher.
- 46:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 46:08SPEAKER_14: And but we're there to have fun, and we don't we're we're competitive, but not like competitive competitive.
- 46:14SPEAKER_14: Uh so we wager it all every time.
- 46:17SPEAKER_14: Yeah, might as well.
- 46:17SPEAKER_14: We don't care.
- 46:18SPEAKER_14: Yeah, you know.
- 46:19SPEAKER_14: Um, so we and that's what we did, and we lose every time.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_14: Because we get the it's our thing.
- 46:25SPEAKER_14: We get the final jeopardy question wrong.
- 46:27SPEAKER_02: We always get it wrong.
- 46:29SPEAKER_14: Every time.
- 46:30SPEAKER_14: Every time.
- 46:31SPEAKER_14: So, but yeah, no, it's and I enjoy it.
- 46:33SPEAKER_14: I think it's fun because well, one of the reasons I think you know, and I think I've said to you, is I have all this crap in my head that I can't share with anybody.
- 46:42SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 46:42SPEAKER_14: You know, and and so when Charlie plays these songs, I know them all.
- 46:49SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 46:50SPEAKER_14: You know, and usually know all the all the artists too.
- 46:52SPEAKER_14: Sometimes he stumps me.
- 46:54SPEAKER_14: But yeah, it's fun.
- 46:56SPEAKER_14: I enjoyed it.
- 46:57SPEAKER_14: We had a great time.
- 46:57SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: It was fun.
- 46:58SPEAKER_14: And I think they're doing it again in a couple weeks or something.
- 47:02SPEAKER_12: Yeah, like October.
- 47:03SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_14: Something like that.
- 47:04SPEAKER_14: All right.
- 47:05SPEAKER_14: So let's do this.
- 47:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah! Mixtape! Woohoo!
- 47:14SPEAKER_14: Did I share with you?
- 47:17SPEAKER_14: I'll tell you after.
- 47:19SPEAKER_14: Did I share with you the ones that uh the liners that uh uh cousin Larry sent?
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: Did I we talked about it last week?
- 47:28SPEAKER_14: Did I share with you the the last one he sent about the Blanchard children?
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 47:33SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 47:34SPEAKER_14: Okay, I'll share it with it.
- 47:35SPEAKER_14: You want me to do it now?
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I might as well.
- 47:37SPEAKER_14: I mean uh all right, hold on, let's see.
- 47:40SPEAKER_14: Uh let's see if I can find it in here.
- 47:50SPEAKER_14: Uh let's see.
- 47:51SPEAKER_14: What's his name?
- 47:52SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah, cousin Larry.
- 47:53SPEAKER_14: Cousin Larry.
- 47:55SPEAKER_14: So he s he uh was trying to do what I was going for.
- 48:00SPEAKER_14: Uh but he he so he sped it up.
- 48:06SPEAKER_14: Um he recorded it and then sped it up because I told him I said I want to boost the energy of the sh of the show.
- 48:13SPEAKER_14: And so he took it upon himself to speed it up, and I said, I love it, and I do.
- 48:18SPEAKER_14: Uh I said, Did you speed it up?
- 48:20SPEAKER_14: Can can you send the original?
- 48:22SPEAKER_14: And he's he that's what he said, you mentioned uh energy level on the podcast, so I just try to be more energetic.
- 48:27SPEAKER_14: And then he said, Yeah.
- 48:28SPEAKER_14: Uh I just I said, No, I like it.
- 48:30SPEAKER_14: I just want to be able to manipulate it on my end.
- 48:32SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 48:33SPEAKER_14: You know, so if you send me the the original, but anyway, it was kind of funny.
- 48:37SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 48:37SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 48:37SPEAKER_14: So let's see if I can I don't want it to be too loud.
- 48:42SPEAKER_16: It's the O'Brien and Doug Pod show, and let's just get it out of the way now.
- 48:46SPEAKER_16: We're sorry, Blanchard children.
- 48:54SPEAKER_08: I love it.
- 48:55SPEAKER_08: I mean, I'm we're gonna use it.
- 48:56SPEAKER_02: That is perfect, man.
- 48:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:59SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: So uh shoot.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: That's a good one.
- 49:04SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 49:05SPEAKER_14: So all right, so mixtape.
- 49:07SPEAKER_14: Last week.
- 49:08SPEAKER_14: Oh, and you have a recording, so I'm gonna tune in.
- 49:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, but she sent two.
- 49:15SPEAKER_13: Did you listen to them?
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: Actually, three.
- 49:17SPEAKER_13: Did you listen to them?
- 49:18SPEAKER_13: No.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: I I I literally okay, hold on.
- 49:21SPEAKER_13: Play them in order.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: Well, she she also.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: Well, what was the question?
- 49:30SPEAKER_03: For last week?
- 49:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, maybe uh okay.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: That oh that I'm reading something else.
- 49:35unknown: Okay.
- 49:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Never mind.
- 49:38SPEAKER_02: Never mind.
- 49:39SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: Um I was confused.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: We're good.
- 49:44SPEAKER_02: No.
- 49:44SPEAKER_02: All set now.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: Okay, so apparently she recorded this while she was driving, so.
- 49:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's dangerous.
- 49:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:51SPEAKER_02: So let's play it here.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: Hey, another awesome week from Xcape.
- 49:57SPEAKER_00: Really enjoyed the picks this week.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: Um, I laugh that you and O'Brien both picked uh a nickelback.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: I know how much y'all particularly don't care for that band.
- 50:09SPEAKER_00: Um neither do I.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: So while I was listening to the music, uh, because I don't listen to Nickelback, those songs were different.
- 50:19SPEAKER_00: Uh that being said, the side of a bullet just sounded so forced.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know if the guitar was trying too hard or if the vocals were trying too hard to give a different sound to the band.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: She apparently dropped her phone.
- 50:33SPEAKER_14: Oh, is that why I said this is so it just it just drops out.
- 50:37SPEAKER_14: This is the second message or uh well, no.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: She's still recording.
- 50:41SPEAKER_02: It's still going.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: It's still going.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: So I don't know if she uh uh this this time the phone went dark, so there's a long end of silence.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: So I assume that's it.
- 50:51SPEAKER_14: So what did she pick?
- 50:54SPEAKER_14: Apparently she picked Side of a Bullet.
- 50:58SPEAKER_14: She had a negative review of Side of the Bullet.
- 51:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and so that was the one she loved to hate.
- 51:03SPEAKER_12: Oh, is that what the question was?
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, remember?
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Or hate to love?
- 51:06SPEAKER_14: Hate to love.
- 51:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, apparently that's that's all of it.
- 51:11SPEAKER_02: Oh no, that's it.
- 51:13SPEAKER_14: So she picked Side of a Bullet.
- 51:15SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 51:16SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 51:17SPEAKER_14: What was uh Cousin Larry's song?
- 51:20SPEAKER_14: Oh, Abba.
- 51:21SPEAKER_14: Oh, that's right.
- 51:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah, okay.
- 51:25SPEAKER_14: So this week's Are you typing something to me?
- 51:30SPEAKER_14: I'm just reading.
- 51:34SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, what was this week?
- 51:36SPEAKER_03: I totally forget.
- 51:36SPEAKER_03: What was the question?
- 51:37SPEAKER_14: I don't remember.
- 51:38SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah, I I picked a song.
- 51:40SPEAKER_14: I don't I don't I don't remember what the exact question was.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: I totally forget.
- 51:47SPEAKER_02: Uh what song plays as you drive home from that epic all-night party where you killed it with the person you've been crushing on all year?
- 51:54SPEAKER_14: So what did Cousin Larry say?
- 51:57SPEAKER_14: What did Cousin Larry say?
- 52:02SPEAKER_02: Let's see.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: Because he he he sent a message yesterday.
- 52:10SPEAKER_02: So he was ahead of the game.
- 52:12SPEAKER_02: So there you go.
- 52:13SPEAKER_02: Alright, so mixtape.
- 52:15SPEAKER_02: One of the first thoughts that came to mind was Carpenter's Top of the World.
- 52:18SPEAKER_02: That's good.
- 52:18SPEAKER_02: It's a song that might have worked well with last week's question.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: You're the best from the Karate Kid and Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves are a couple good ones too.
- 52:27SPEAKER_02: But I think I probably would just be singing a song that gets me fired up, so I'd probably be singing something by ACDC like You Shook Me All Night Long.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: Honorable mention to Did It in a Minute by Holland Oates, because that's just darn funny.
- 52:42SPEAKER_10: You did it, you did it, you did it, you did it, you did it in a minute.
- 52:46SPEAKER_10: Oh, hello.
- 52:47SPEAKER_10: Ah, that's that's Van Halen.
- 52:50SPEAKER_14: That's Van Halen and ACDC at the same time.
- 52:54SPEAKER_14: To turn one off, to turn the other on.
- 52:56SPEAKER_14: That's what she said.
- 53:01SPEAKER_14: Everybody knows this one.
- 53:04SPEAKER_14: I've never heard this song ever.
- 53:05SPEAKER_14: Dude, when we were in school, like like high school dances, are you kidding me?
- 53:10SPEAKER_02: This song?
- 53:11SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, once you heard that guitar off, man, everybody was like out there.
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: Remember Mr.
- 53:15SPEAKER_02: Pierce?
- 53:16SPEAKER_02: Yes, I do.
- 53:18SPEAKER_10: How can you forget Mr.
- 53:19SPEAKER_02: Pierce?
- 53:21SPEAKER_10: Oh Beavie Bird! Beaver!
- 53:28SPEAKER_13: This is uh a standard, I know.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 53:32SPEAKER_13: Yeah?
- 53:32SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's a rock and roll standard.
- 53:34SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 53:35SPEAKER_02: It's right up there with like, you know, Johnny B good.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it is.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: Up there with the, you know, the the upper pantheon.
- 53:42SPEAKER_02: No question.
- 53:43SPEAKER_14: Rock and roll.
- 53:43SPEAKER_14: No question.
- 53:44SPEAKER_14: And I would put I would uh that's a that's a topic we could uh do one day.
- 53:49SPEAKER_14: Uh rock and roll songs that have become standards.
- 53:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 53:53SPEAKER_14: Uh that that are like Sweet Child of My Hud would fit in there.
- 53:56SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: Welcome to the just if you're listening, if you had to like, if I was sending a, you know, you know, uh, you know, music across the universe to find like some sort of alien civilization, you know, and they want, you know, you want to send rock and roll music.
- 54:14SPEAKER_14: Let's see.
- 54:15SPEAKER_14: Let's see if we can remember that for next week.
- 54:16SPEAKER_14: We won't.
- 54:17SPEAKER_14: I know.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: We can't we we come up with a title.
- 54:20SPEAKER_02: We can't even remember it by the time we get to the end of it.
- 54:22SPEAKER_14: So well but let's let's uh so for next week, come up with three.
- 54:27SPEAKER_14: You can do that.
- 54:28SPEAKER_14: Three, I think I just did.
- 54:29SPEAKER_14: Come up with three songs that are uh 1980 and newer.
- 54:37SPEAKER_14: 1980?
- 54:38SPEAKER_14: 1980.
- 54:39SPEAKER_14: That's the that have become standards and don't include this song.
- 54:44SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 54:44SPEAKER_14: Or or anyone's mission.
- 54:46SPEAKER_14: Yeah, or sweet child of mine, or welcome to the jungle.
- 54:48SPEAKER_14: Okay, but you know, you can pick whatever band.
- 54:50SPEAKER_14: Um and what is what has become a rock and roll standard?
- 54:54SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 54:54SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 54:54SPEAKER_14: So we'll see if we won't we won't.
- 54:56SPEAKER_12: We will totally forget that.
- 54:57SPEAKER_14: We'll totally forget that.
- 54:59SPEAKER_14: What's uh what's your your pick?
- 55:01SPEAKER_02: I I I had a hard time coming up with it, you know.
- 55:05SPEAKER_02: But I was like, you know what would be really funny?
- 55:09SPEAKER_02: That song from uh Dirty Dancing.
- 55:19SPEAKER_14: I just thought that would be hilarious.
- 55:21SPEAKER_14: I think that would be uh very appropriate.
- 55:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: You're just like because you're hanging out with your crush, right?
- 55:34SPEAKER_02: Yes, yeah, so yeah.
- 55:42SPEAKER_14: And you know, everybody knows all the words.
- 55:58SPEAKER_02: You you packed your swaying dancing down the aisle, right?
- 56:02SPEAKER_14: But you know, my kids still haven't seen this movie.
- 56:05SPEAKER_02: Well, it's not really age appropriate.
- 56:08SPEAKER_14: Even my adult kids.
- 56:09SPEAKER_02: Oh, none of them?
- 56:10SPEAKER_14: I don't think so.
- 56:12SPEAKER_14: I don't think so.
- 56:14SPEAKER_14: Uh we did keep it from them, obviously, because you're right.
- 56:16SPEAKER_14: It's not it's really not appropriate.
- 56:20SPEAKER_14: I watched it when I was like Oh, yeah, we all we watched it, man.
- 56:24SPEAKER_02: It was different back in the 80s.
- 56:25SPEAKER_02: You know, we were just like, you know, feral children, man.
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: You know, apparently.
- 56:29SPEAKER_02: You know, PG was just a suggestion.
- 56:32SPEAKER_14: That's true.
- 56:33SPEAKER_14: You know what I mean?
- 56:34SPEAKER_14: You know what?
- 56:34SPEAKER_14: All those Steven Spielberg movies, they all have swearing in them.
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 56:39SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 56:40SPEAKER_02: Look at all the John Hughes movies.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 56:43SPEAKER_02: Swearing, drinking, sex.
- 56:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's got it all, man.
- 56:47SPEAKER_02: It's so true.
- 56:47SPEAKER_02: It's so true.
- 56:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know.
- 56:49SPEAKER_14: So uh, you know, that makes our generation twisted.
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: We were the last feral generation, that's what it was.
- 56:56SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's for sure.
- 56:56SPEAKER_14: So all right, that's a great pick, by the way.
- 56:59SPEAKER_14: Um, so you have the read the question again.
- 57:02SPEAKER_14: I want to put you someplace.
- 57:04SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 57:05SPEAKER_14: You probably don't even know this song.
- 57:07SPEAKER_02: What song plays as you drive home from that epic all-night party where you killed it with the person you've been crushing on all year?
- 57:13SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 57:14SPEAKER_14: Uh, this song popped in my head.
- 57:16SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 57:16SPEAKER_14: It's actually one of my favorite songs ever.
- 57:18SPEAKER_14: Don't ask me why.
- 57:20SPEAKER_14: Uh it's nostalgia for me.
- 57:22SPEAKER_14: I remember where I was.
- 57:23SPEAKER_14: I think I remember where I was when I first heard it.
- 57:25SPEAKER_14: And uh, but this this is what popped in my mind first, and you probably don't even know this song.
- 57:37SPEAKER_14: I do know this song, do you?
- 57:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 57:42SPEAKER_13: This is Poco.
- 57:43SPEAKER_13: Call it Love from 1989, which is probably my favorite year of life.
- 58:45SPEAKER_14: I love this.
- 58:46SPEAKER_14: Great song.
- 58:47SPEAKER_14: Great song.
- 58:47SPEAKER_14: It's just a great hook and just a great sound.
- 58:50SPEAKER_14: That's uh Poco and Call It Love.
- 58:53SPEAKER_14: Uh I've had the time of my life from Bill Medley and Jennifer Warren's before that.
- 58:57SPEAKER_14: That's Doug's pick.
- 58:59SPEAKER_14: And of course, you shook me all night long.
- 59:01SPEAKER_14: A C D C.
- 59:02SPEAKER_14: Leave it to cousin Larry.
- 59:04SPEAKER_02: The man loves his ACDC, man.
- 59:06SPEAKER_14: Uh, that is mixtape.
- 59:07SPEAKER_14: So let's do the future.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: Future question.
- 59:12SPEAKER_02: What this this cracked me out because this is so off the wall.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: What is the grocery cart with the squeaky wheels theme song?
- 59:25SPEAKER_02: The grocery cart with the squeaky wheels theme song.
- 59:30SPEAKER_14: I I have something that just popped in my head.
- 59:32SPEAKER_14: Well, there we go.
- 59:33SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 59:33SPEAKER_02: Just like that.
- 59:35SPEAKER_14: I don't know what it's called though.
- 59:36SPEAKER_02: Well, sorry, um you got a week to figure it out.
- 59:38SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I'm not gonna do that.
- 59:41SPEAKER_02: I was just saying you have the option.
- 59:42SPEAKER_14: Oh, uh well, here's and here's why I'm not gonna do that.
- 59:45SPEAKER_14: I keep throwing tissues over there, sorry.
- 59:46SPEAKER_14: Here's why I'm not gonna do that.
- 59:47SPEAKER_14: I meant to tell you.
- 59:49SPEAKER_14: Uh so I'm taking two courses, online courses, uh, forget for my certification.
- 59:54SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 59:54SPEAKER_14: Uh my last two, thankfully, hopefully.
- 59:57SPEAKER_14: Um but they're private.
- 59:59SPEAKER_14: You remember how I took the guitar course and it was just me and one guy for an hour a week, and we just talk about guitars, and yeah, he shows me stuff.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_14: Um well, this one is uh audio recording.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_14: And that's that's the first one.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_14: And then the other one is composition.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_02: Ah, okay.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_14: So, but here's my here's my marching orders for the fall.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_14: We have, I think, 12 sessions.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_14: Uh one session a week for 12 weeks, something like that.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_14: So I met with my first one uh uh on Monday, and we we talked, and she she's like, you know, so what do you want?
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_14: You know, it's audio recording.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_14: What do you you know, do you wanna learn Pro Tools?
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_14: Or you know, and I said, you know, uh that's that would be great.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_14: I don't have Pro Tools, blah blah blah, yeah, it's expensive.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_14: So she says, Do you have any songs you want to record?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_14: And I'm like, Yah.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_14: So she says, Can you show me one?
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_14: So I pulled one up and I it was unfinished, obviously, and she's like, Yeah, let's work on that.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_14: I'm like, okay.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_14: And so she's like, We're so I want you here's what I want you to do next week.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_14: I want you to try out all your mics, your different kinds of mics, and see which one works best for your voice.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_14: And uh I want you to see if you have the original uh tracks to that song because it wasn't the original uh recording session.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_14: And uh and then I want you to uh what was the other thing?
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_14: Oh, mic and aunt, because I've never I've never recorded a song with my aunt mic'd and into into a recording into a doll.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_14: And because I always use the the uh built-in plugins.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_14: And she's like, I just want you to try it.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_14: Just just so that's my homework, right?
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_02: Recorded recorded songs, oh wow.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_02: It's pretty cool.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_14: So what a rough class.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_14: So we're gonna we're gonna pick a few Oh that was the other thing.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_14: Pick a pick your you know, s some songs that you always want to get recorded and and make a list.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_14: So I'm like, okay.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_14: So race it basically what it's doing is lighting a fire under my butt to you know, because I've been wanting to do this, right?
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_14: And I've set some time aside during the week, two or three hours uh on a Thursday night and a Saturday night, whatever, to actually come down and do homework for for these classes, which means I'm gonna be doing what I want to do.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_14: So it's kind of cool.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_14: So I had my composition class today, and composition, of course, is writing scores and things.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_14: So it's like, what do you what do you want to do?
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_14: What do you want to get from this class?
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: Why why are you taking these classes if they're asking you to like what do you want to know?
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't want to do anything, just give me a freaking A and leave me alone.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_14: So I told him about my other class, and I said, Well, you know, I recorded uh a couple of solo piano CDs twenty-five years ago, um, and uh my wife wants another one.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_14: And he said, Let's do that.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_14: I was like, What what do you mean?
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_14: And he said he said So I'll show you some things.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_14: I mean, if you want to learn how to r to to write you know the music to a piece that you've written, we'll work on that.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_14: He says, But I want you to write it.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_14: And I said, Okay.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_14: He says, So next week, I don't care about the length, it can be short, it can be long, I want you to write a solo piano piece and record it.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_14: And and I said, Okay.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_14: He says, and we have we have twelve classes.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_14: So by the end, you'll have twelve songs recorded and your wife will have a new piano seat.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_14: There we go.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_14: I said, okay.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_14: Then I I can I'll I'll teach you how to, you know, write it out, you know.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_14: And even if it's just, you know, the melody and with chords and stuff like that, I was like, hey, very cool.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_14: So I'm gonna get some crap done.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_14: So I'm excited about it.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_14: And you're gonna pay for it too.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_10: I already have.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_14: Alright.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_14: Done.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_14: So um, yeah.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_14: So that's where I am.

- 1:10:08SPEAKER_14: I mean, it was something to watch.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_02: Well, you you and I were on the like the wings of the group, and I remember we we saw him being in a wheelchair being wheeled up to up to the side of the stage, yeah, and then he got up and he walked.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_02: He walked, you know, of course he walked out onto the stage and then he sat down immediately.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_12: Yeah.

- 1:10:58SPEAKER_14: This week was my week.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_14: And uh uh so he did the write-up.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_14: We talked about this earlier, I think.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_14: Uh where he said something like, he's an amazing league guitar player, plays everything from Eddie Van Halen to BB King.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_14: And both of those are wrong.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_14: But I appreciated it because they are two of my favorites.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_14: Um Eddie Van Halen because he was just otherworldly as well.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_14: You know, but BB King because simplicity.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_14: But uh, you know, sometimes even just more feeling than Eddie Van Halen.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_14: Or it's just like well, what did he say?
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_14: Actually, BB King said this in a documentary once, I think.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_14: He said, I just I I just I can't play all those notes.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_02: No, but the notes he does play are impacting, every note is impactful.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_14: But he's but he's he's he says, I can't play all those notes, but I like to tell a story.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_14: It's a conversation, it's a conversation.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_14: You know, and that's exactly what his guitar is.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_14: He's talking to Lucille and she's talking back.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_14: Uh, which is awesome to listen to.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_14: Uh so let's so this is you've done lost your good thing now.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_14: Uh let's uh let's see.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_14: Well, of course.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I mean and he was adored by you know other artists.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_02: You can't find anybody that was like, oh, BB King sucks.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_02: You will never find nobody in the history of anything has ever said that that knows what they're talking about.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_14: You know what I mean?
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_14: Yep, it's true.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_14: Uh this, of course.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_14: I think his signature.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_14: Would you say it's signature?
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_14: Thrill's gone, oh yeah.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_02: That or three o'clock blues.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_02: This is the one I think of when when I think of uh commercially, it was probably that's what everybody knows it, right?
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_14: Now I had sometimes I think my iTunes is just possessed.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_05: The thrill is gone.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_05: The thrill is gone away.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_05: The thrill is gone, baby.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_05: The thrill is gone away.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_14: I wonder if it's for Bobby Bland.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_14: Hold on.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_05: You know you've done me wrong, baby, and you'll be sorry someday.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_05: The thrill is gone.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_14: So what I was looking for is there's a song that he does with Bobby Bland called I Like to Live the Love and it's live.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_14: It's just awesome.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_14: Just he gets the crowd singing and stuff.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_14: It's amazing.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_14: And I have the album.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_14: But the song's not there.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_14: Well the uh the album's not here.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_14: Uh but I remember it being here.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_14: That's that's what's so confusing.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, iTunes, you're being silly.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_14: Um so I say a lot of other artists loved him so much so that he put out multiple compilation albums of well, this is I'm loosening up again.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_13: I'm gonna This is John Mayer and BB King and Hummingbird.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_13: It's even more fun to play it.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_04: Sometimes I get impatient.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_14: Now this was from an album called 80.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_14: So he was 80 years old at this time, so this was 20 years ago.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_14: That's crazy.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_04: Crazy! I'm so sweet and softly.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_04: Man, have you heard that I die my life had ended?
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_04: But I find that has just begun.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_04: Oh she gets me where I live, and I'll give all I have to give.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_04: Talking about my honeymoon.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_14: And of course, this is from 1993.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_14: The great John Lee Hooker, NB King.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_14: John Lee Hooker was an institution, oh yeah, and unique individual.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_15: Oh yeah.
- 1:17:09SPEAKER_01: Well, well, well, shug me, shock me.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_01: All night long, all night long.

- 1:17:26SPEAKER_01: All night long, all night along, all night along.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_14: And then of course, well, this is when this came out, it was like three of my world's mighty.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_14: Because I've always loved BB King.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_14: Always been a classic fan.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_14: And I've always been a fan of John Hyatt.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_14: And it was like you put them all together and you got riding with the king.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_14: So Hyatt wrote the song, clapped it in B.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_14: King, recorded it.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_13: This whole album was amazing.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_13: Is amazing.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_13: From 2000.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_13: Again, 25 years old.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_13: I know, right?
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_13: And you know that that if he was still around, he'd still be playing.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_12: He'd still be playing.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_13: He'd still be out there.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_13: I can't.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_13: Hundred years old.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_13: Hundred years old, he's really good.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_13: Yeah, no question.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_02: They'd lay him in a hospital bed, like one of those, you know, just gonna raise up the head and he's don't.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
