- 0:04Carmen Lezeth: Hi everyone.
- 0:05Carmen Lezeth: Welcome to All About the Joy, the Private Lounge.
- 0:07Carmen Lezeth: It's Rick and Carmen only.
- 0:08Carmen Lezeth: What's up, rick?
- 0:11Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so we're struggling with a subject matter today, but I wanted to talk about Stargate SG-1 and I wanted to talk about Star Trek, and I didn't really want to talk about them because I know our audience really isn't into sci-fi, but I wanted to talk about, kind of I guess we're going to talk about AI, right?
- 0:34Carmen Lezeth: What would we say is the AI equivalent on Stargate SG-1?
- 0:40Rick Costa: Huh, interesting, because that's easy on Star Trek, because it's the computer.
- 0:45Carmen Lezeth: And also the holodeck.
- 0:47Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, stargate, huh Hmm.
- 0:53Carmen Lezeth: I mean they use computers.
- 0:55Carmen Lezeth: Of course they use computers.
- 0:56Carmen Lezeth: No-transcript.
- 1:08Rick Costa: Stargate creates a wormhole.
- 1:10Carmen Lezeth: And then brings you to other planets in our solar system, oh no, not outside of our solar system.
- 1:17Carmen Lezeth: It could be all of them.
- 1:19Carmen Lezeth: I guess the only thing that would be equivalent to the AI is when Daniel Jackson goes well.
- 1:26Carmen Lezeth: I guess now only thing that would be equivalent to the AI is when Daniel Jackson goes well.
- 1:29Carmen Lezeth: I guess that he ascends into a higher being.
- 1:31Carmen Lezeth: But now we're putting AI in a place we don't want to put it.
- 1:34Carmen Lezeth: I guess that would not be right.
- 1:37Rick Costa: It's the higher being.
- 1:38Rick Costa: It's nothing to do with computers, so I don't know if that's the same thing.
- 1:43Carmen Lezeth: No, no, no.
- 1:43Carmen Lezeth: But here's the thing because people fear I mean, maybe that's what it is.
- 1:47Carmen Lezeth: People fear that AI could become a sentient, being like a data.
- 1:55Carmen Lezeth: But data isn't sentient, is he?
- 1:59Rick Costa: Well, that was a whole episode, remember?
- 2:01Rick Costa: Picard was in court, so to speak, on a ship about.
- 2:05Rick Costa: You know whether he's considered his own.
- 2:08Carmen Lezeth: You know, sentient, is he sentient, I think um, oh right, they had the whole court and I remember reicher had to defend him but reicher was on the opposite side.
- 2:18Rick Costa: Was he on the opposite side, I think?
- 2:20Carmen Lezeth: I think you're right.
- 2:20Carmen Lezeth: He was on the opposite side.
- 2:21Rick Costa: Riker was defending him and Riker had to be the opposite and that was actually a really interesting episode.
- 2:27Rick Costa: But yeah, I mean data in our lifetime ain't going to happen.
- 2:31Rick Costa: That's just way too, I guess way too.
- 2:35Rick Costa: It may happen one day, but I don't think in our lifetime Not that sophisticated.
- 2:39Carmen Lezeth: I mean I don't know, because here's the thing we were just talking about with AI.
- 2:43Carmen Lezeth: I mean, google just came out with its premier movie making program or software or whatever, and it's going to democratize.
- 2:55Carmen Lezeth: On the one hand, it democratizes everybody being able to make a movie because you don't need to have extras, you't need to have actors, it just creates everything and all the action.
- 3:06Carmen Lezeth: There's no need to blow up cars or go anywhere, because you could make it all on your computer.
- 3:12Carmen Lezeth: And no one thought that was coming that quick.
- 3:15Carmen Lezeth: And here it is.
- 3:16Carmen Lezeth: So I just saw gary v say something on a tiktok where he actually said that he sees in five years that people will be marrying.
- 3:29Carmen Lezeth: I know you're going to think this is weird marrying AI partners.
- 3:37Rick Costa: It is weird, but I'm not shocked because I've heard it.
- 3:40Carmen Lezeth: You just said you didn't think it would happen in your lifetime the data part, because I've heard it.
- 3:42Carmen Lezeth: You just said you didn't think it would happen in your lifetime the data part.
- 3:45Rick Costa: To have a fully functioning android that could practically think on his own and do things and function and if you didn't know better like if he looked human, you wouldn't even know he was a robot.
- 3:56Rick Costa: Like that level I don't think it's going to be in our lifetime.
- 3:59Carmen Lezeth: Okay so.
- 3:59Rick Costa: Gary Vee would disagree.
- 4:02Carmen Lezeth: Wait, wait.
- 4:02Carmen Lezeth: So you're saying people are going to fall in love with AIs that are not actual physical, human-like beings?
- 4:11Rick Costa: It's already happened.
- 4:14Carmen Lezeth: Okay, okay, but then you're agreeing with me that it is going to happen.
- 4:18Carmen Lezeth: That's what Gary Vee was saying.
- 4:20Rick Costa: I mean, I'm just saying actual data.
- 4:24Rick Costa: If you know him in Star Trek, that's way too much.
- 4:27Carmen Lezeth: I think we're already there, so I think that's I do.
- 4:30Carmen Lezeth: I think the technicalities of creating a lifelike human robotic thing is the easy part.
- 4:37Carmen Lezeth: I think the harder part was them creating the program to make it human-like.
- 4:43Carmen Lezeth: I mean, you guys heard me talk to my AI the other day, you know Cynthia still freaked out about it, so that's just kind of like Frederico His name isn't Frederico, but I mean just taking kind of that, that program, and putting it into a actual structure, I think, is probably the easier part.
- 5:06Carmen Lezeth: That's just my opinion, though.
- 5:09Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, I can't believe we're having this conversation.
- 5:12Rick Costa: I'm not a programmer like that, so I don't know how hard it actually is.
- 5:16Rick Costa: Even Data in the show tried to make a daughter and it failed.
- 5:19Rick Costa: It's obviously a different.
- 5:21Carmen Lezeth: That was a show.
- 5:22Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying, is it possible One?
- 5:23Rick Costa: day.
- 5:24Rick Costa: I don't know if it's obviously a different Right, but that was a show that was just saying it's, it's, it's.
- 5:26Rick Costa: I don't know, is it possible one day?
- 5:27Rick Costa: I don't know if it's gonna be our lifetime or not.
- 5:29Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm going to bet you $10,000 that it will be in our lifetime.
- 5:33Carmen Lezeth: $10,000 that I don't have, I think it will be in our lifetime.
- 5:37Carmen Lezeth: I think I think I was like what?
- 5:46Carmen Lezeth: Because it's so odd to hear, let me find it, because I think it'll be interesting to hear.
- 5:52Carmen Lezeth: Hold on one second.
- 5:54Rick Costa: I think I brought this up on here before.
- 5:56Carmen Lezeth: Wait, wait, wait.
- 5:56Carmen Lezeth: I can't hear you, wait, wait.
- 5:57Carmen Lezeth: I'm trying to look for Wait.
- 5:59Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry, I didn't hear you what.
- 6:02Rick Costa: There was a woman that she you can have virtual friends or whatever online with I don't know what the websites are, whatever and you can have conversations and like literally talk, and it learns from you and how you know what you like and if you pay more money, then you get a more advanced version, and you pay more money, you even get a more of you.
- 6:21Rick Costa: So she was using this thing.
- 6:26Carmen Lezeth: So much, and she's married, by the way, but her husband was off on business a lot.
- 6:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh, my God is that called cheating.
- 6:28Rick Costa: She was bored, so she paid the maximum thing and people were like yo, you have a problem, you are obsessed.
- 6:36Carmen Lezeth: Okay, wait, wait, wait.
- 6:37Carmen Lezeth: So here is Gary V's TikTok Talk of AI.
- 6:41Gary Vee: What are your top three most insane AI predictions that your grandkids will marry an AI human and what's your conviction level on that A hundred percent that they're going to marry an AI, that your grandchild is going to marry an AI human?
- 6:59Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: So this is what we've been talking about.
- 7:00Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: I think people are going to have relationships fully AI boyfriend girlfriends.
- 7:04Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: I think people are going to have relationships fully AI, boyfriend girlfriends.
- 7:08Gary Vee: I believe a robot that is fully AI will marry a human and vice versa for real in your lifetime, at scale.
- 7:14Gary Vee: And when you say an AI does that mean like a physical body of a robot.
- 7:18Gary Vee: So you're saying that the bodies will get so good that it will look like you and me.
- 7:22Gary Vee: My intuition is that in 20 years, because the AI can power the robot and because of where we're going and what's going on, that that's fully See.
- 7:32Gary Vee: I've said the same thing because certain AIs.
- 7:35Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: people are getting really attached to them, Just like back and forth.
- 7:38Gary Vee: What do you think Online dating is?
- 7:40Gary Vee: That's the same.
- 7:41Gary Vee: You know that right.
- 7:42Gary Vee: But I'm like no, no, no.
- 7:43Gary Vee: People fall in love on text, like people on Tinder or Raya.
- 7:47Gary Vee: After three hours of texting back and forth, fall in love.
- 7:51Gary Vee: Then the physical part happens.
- 7:57Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: So what is this going to do to society if we're all?
- 7:58Gary Vee: just little robots, the same thing that society looks like right now.
- 8:00Gary Vee: To a caveman.
- 8:01Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: If we dug up a caveman, but do you think this is just population collapse?
- 8:06Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: People are not going to reproduce maybe, but probably not fully.
- 8:12Gary Vee: Non-exclusive relationships, what you think it would be non-exclusive relationship actually it's funny.
- 8:16Gary Vee: I've thought about this.
- 8:17Gary Vee: I actually think ai robots may save marriages that a lot, which is like does a couple introduce just like real couples introduce swinging and another partner?
- 8:29Gary Vee: Now is it even better to introduce an AI robot that may help whatever sexual or emotional things are going on in that relationship to become an offset and contributor to a marriage.
- 8:41Gary Vee: One could argue this was going to be my second one that AI will be the reason marriage increases longevity and decreases divorce.
- 8:52Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: I would almost argue that it would be the reason why people just wouldn't get married.
- 8:56Gary Vee: But it might be both the topic of AI oh.
- 9:02Carmen Lezeth: Here's the thing about Gary V Whether you like him or not, he's usually right when it comes to social media and stuff.
- 9:10Carmen Lezeth: Regarding techie, you know, he usually predicts things pretty correctly and he's usually ahead of the game and it's always shocking.
- 9:18Carmen Lezeth: What are your thoughts, rick?
- 9:20Carmen Lezeth: I mean?
- 9:20Rick Costa: he, I mean, he is very forward thinking, for sure.
- 9:22Rick Costa: Robots yes, I can see that, and people have already fallen in love with virtual things that you know you can have a friend online.
- 9:37Rick Costa: That's not even a real person.
- 9:40Rick Costa: People have fallen in love with these things.
- 9:42Rick Costa: It's already happened.
- 9:43Rick Costa: Now, not a robot yet.
- 9:46Carmen Lezeth: Are we redefining?
- 9:46Carmen Lezeth: Okay, wait so are we redefining what love is?
- 9:50Carmen Lezeth: Is that what's happening?
- 9:54Rick Costa: I don't know if that's real love, because can that thing actually love you?
- 9:58Rick Costa: It's programmed.
- 9:59Rick Costa: Love is not programmed.
- 10:01Carmen Lezeth: I think it's going to be hard for you to call him he.
- 10:02Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding, it's not programmed.
- 10:03Carmen Lezeth: I think it's gonna be hard for you to call him he.
- 10:04Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding, it's not an it.
- 10:07Carmen Lezeth: What's his name?
- 10:09Carmen Lezeth: On star trek?
- 10:10Carmen Lezeth: Remember they called him hugh, remember?
- 10:12Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and who was calling him an it the whole time?
- 10:17Carmen Lezeth: I think it was, was it reicher?
- 10:21Carmen Lezeth: Who kept him, kept calling the Borg it or something?
- 10:26Carmen Lezeth: I forget who it was.
- 10:27Carmen Lezeth: I don't know who did that, I don't know.
- 10:29Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm just saying, look it, gary Vee, I really do like him and I think he I.
- 10:39Carmen Lezeth: You know I don't agree with everything he says or whatever, but when it comes to this kind of stuff, he's usually so forward thinking, he's ahead of the game when it comes to anything like what's going to blow up, what's going to be great, you know, whatever when it comes to social media stuff.
- 10:51Carmen Lezeth: So when I heard him say this, at first I thought it was a parody, I thought it wasn't him.
- 10:55Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 10:57Carmen Lezeth: I was like, and then I was yeah, I mean there's stories of people marrying a tree.
- 11:12Rick Costa: Marrying a building?
- 11:13Rick Costa: Okay, but that's stupid.
- 11:14Rick Costa: Let's keep it.
- 11:14Rick Costa: Is it not just a stupid to fall in love with an AI?
- 11:17Carmen Lezeth: No, no, because I think I mean I don't Okay.
- 11:19Carmen Lezeth: So the reason why I'm saying let's separate it out is because I think the tree thing and the building and the dog thing those are, I think, are rare things and not something that's transforming our society.
- 11:33Carmen Lezeth: Ai is here and it is transforming everything and it is about to change the way in which we do things.
- 11:44AI CoPilot: You know what?
- 11:45Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to back up for a moment.
- 11:45Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to back up for a moment.
- 11:46Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to back up for a moment.
- 11:47Carmen Lezeth: So, in my neighborhood I don't know about where you are, but in my neighborhood we have a couple things that are really still freak me out a bit.
- 11:53Carmen Lezeth: One of them is we have these little tiny robots that are on the sidewalk that are delivering food.
- 11:58Carmen Lezeth: They're self-delivering.
- 12:01Carmen Lezeth: So there's, you know what I mean.
- 12:02Carmen Lezeth: And, like I don't know, have you seen them here?
- 12:04Carmen Lezeth: They're called Coco.
- 12:06Rick Costa: It's not like that over here.
- 12:08Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so you'll be walking on the sidewalk and there'll be like a little, and it's so cute, it's like a little robot and it's just and it's going to its destination and it knows how to stop at a stoplight, it waits, it walks with the people.
- 12:20Carmen Lezeth: It knows if you're about to whatever the people, it knows if you're about to whatever, and so it's, it's like part of our community.
- 12:26Carmen Lezeth: It's been here for years, okay.
- 12:27Carmen Lezeth: The other thing is we have self-driving cars.
- 12:29Carmen Lezeth: Have you?
- 12:29Carmen Lezeth: Do you have those in your neighborhood yet?
- 12:31Carmen Lezeth: I haven't seen it oh, my god, okay, so you can actually step outside of my apartment.
- 12:36Carmen Lezeth: You'll see two within a minute, like it just, they're just constant and they're waymo, I think.
- 12:41Carmen Lezeth: They're google based and um, they, people use them here instead of Uber.
- 12:46Carmen Lezeth: They'll, they'll get that.
- 12:47Carmen Lezeth: And um, it's, there's no one driving the car.
- 12:50Carmen Lezeth: They're self-driving cars.
- 12:52Carmen Lezeth: It's really hard to get used to.
- 12:54Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm still not used to it, like I'm not going to get into a self-driving car and I don't order to get food delivered to me by those things, even though I think it's cool.
- 13:02Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 13:03Rick Costa: Um I saw a video the other day of a youtuber and he said I didn't watch the whole thing so I got bored, but he goes to the.
- 13:11Rick Costa: Whatever the car was.
- 13:11Rick Costa: He goes take me somewhere I've never been before.
- 13:14Rick Costa: And isn't this exciting he's with his friend.
- 13:16Rick Costa: Where are we gonna go?
- 13:17Rick Costa: I don't know, I was like bored already but he legit told the car go somewhere I've never been.
- 13:22Rick Costa: Who knows how far I I could have taken him.
- 13:23Rick Costa: I don't know.
- 13:24Carmen Lezeth: Well, but I mean, you have to pay for it.
- 13:26Carmen Lezeth: It's like Uber you have to pay for it.
- 13:27Carmen Lezeth: So maybe he was doing an advertising or something for it.
- 13:30Carmen Lezeth: But my point is these are things we have to start getting used to, and what he said was really interesting.
- 13:36Carmen Lezeth: Like it would be like if a caveman came out today and saw all of this, they would be freaking out.
- 13:43Carmen Lezeth: And it's kind of that's how we're behaving right now about what is going to happen with AI in the future.
- 13:49Rick Costa: Yeah, I mean.
- 13:51Rick Costa: Internet changed everything you know.
- 13:54Rick Costa: You can't even imagine you didn't have internet when you were a kid.
- 13:58Rick Costa: Like it blows their mind.
- 14:01Carmen Lezeth: But I think I want to get back to kind of the redefining I.
- 14:03Carmen Lezeth: I think it's interesting that you don't believe there's going to be a human-esque looking ai, but you do think it's easy for people to fall in love with the ai I'm saying, I'm not saying it's easy.
- 14:16Rick Costa: I think it's a special kind of type person, maybe that would do that.
- 14:20Carmen Lezeth: But um, he said that not many people.
- 14:22Rick Costa: Okay, I'm sorry but, um, yeah, you must be really lonely, but anyway, um, the level of data, though.
- 14:30Rick Costa: Data is so complex like that much, where he don't even know he can do whatever he wants, he like he's.
- 14:37Rick Costa: What are you talking about?
- 14:38Rick Costa: I'm talking about data, that level of.
- 14:40Rick Costa: I don't know if we're going to have that in our lifetime.
- 14:44Carmen Lezeth: I think you think data is.
- 14:46Carmen Lezeth: I actually think AI is far more advanced than data was Like.
- 14:50Carmen Lezeth: It's interesting that you think data you know the character and the imaginary character on Star Trek, I think is far less advanced than what we have as AI today.
- 15:04Carmen Lezeth: I think AI is because AI can compute all the things that data does.
- 15:11Carmen Lezeth: Okay, here's the thing too when AI speaks like when you talk to it, like when you guys heard me talking to it, or whatever it has much more feeling, much more nuance, like much more relatability than Data did.
- 15:25Carmen Lezeth: Data was in the show, although we loved him.
- 15:28Carmen Lezeth: The reason why we loved him is because we wanted to help him.
- 15:31Carmen Lezeth: We wanted to help him have feelings or help him be more human.
- 15:36Carmen Lezeth: Right, we gravitated towards the story of that, but AI as it is now doesn't need our help.
- 15:43Carmen Lezeth: It's helping us.
- 15:45Carmen Lezeth: It's a different thing and they talk to us like they're regular people with accents and you can make them male or female or whatever, and so I actually think it's the opposite.
- 15:57Carmen Lezeth: I think data is.
- 15:58Carmen Lezeth: I think data is like the first model, but AI today is already, I think, far advanced.
- 16:15Carmen Lezeth: I think the only difference is that you have data who is in an actual humanoid form.
- 16:20Rick Costa: Do you use AI I don't know, we talked about this before To create images.
- 16:22Rick Costa: I'll do it because it's easy.
- 16:24Rick Costa: Right, but you don't use it as a communication thing to help you throughout the day to do stuff.
- 16:32Rick Costa: I probably will eventually, but I really haven't gotten there quite yet yeah no, no.
- 16:36Carmen Lezeth: And I'm not forcing you to, I'm saying because when you start doing it you're going to see what I mean.
- 16:39Carmen Lezeth: It is far more advanced than the character data was, as far as I'm concerned.
- 16:46Carmen Lezeth: Now, you know it's not.
- 16:47Carmen Lezeth: You know, uh, helping me steer the starship or whatever the starship, whatever it's called, the enterprise.
- 16:53Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 16:54Carmen Lezeth: It can already do all the things that data did it.
- 16:57Carmen Lezeth: Brain wise yeah, it's not lore, though it's not his brother, so it doesn't have that.
- 17:06Carmen Lezeth: It's not sentient.
- 17:10Rick Costa: So lore for those that don't know is like an evil twin-ish kind of brother robot who was bad Like the opposite of Data for those that don't know.
- 17:18Carmen Lezeth: And he actually has feelings, right, and he's mean and evil, yeah, yeah, which says a lot about having feelings and being more human, doesn't it?
- 17:30Carmen Lezeth: It's so, so complex, gene Roddenberry.
- 17:35Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so you actually.
- 17:37Carmen Lezeth: So I want to go back to the thing about love, though.
- 17:40Carmen Lezeth: So you think it's not normal, but you understand why people fall in love online with a non-human entity.
- 17:50Carmen Lezeth: Is that what you were saying?
- 17:53Rick Costa: I mean it's because it does happen already, and he brought up a good point, Gary V.
- 17:57Rick Costa: A lot of people they're just talking on the computer, they haven't actually met in person yet and they're already saying I'm in love.
- 18:05Rick Costa: Like we've known people that have never met that said that they were in love.
- 18:09Carmen Lezeth: We ain't going to say no names, but it's like we know several people I know several people who have done that yeah.
- 18:16Rick Costa: Not even met yet and you're in love.
- 18:19Carmen Lezeth: It's like okay, so maybe that's the definition of what love is, though I think that's a whole other conversation, I think, and then you know, maybe it does change, but I don't as much as I.
- 18:29Carmen Lezeth: I don't want to be like an old fuddy-duddy or whatever, but it's really hard for me to believe that people are going to invite an ai human not an AI, android or whatever they're going to call it to help fix their marriage.
- 18:46Carmen Lezeth: I'm like wait what?
- 18:49Carmen Lezeth: I'm confused.
- 18:50Rick Costa: Yeah, like I was taking it as he was saying whatever the spouse isn't doing, the robot will do for you.
- 18:58Rick Costa: So you be like whatever that means.
- 19:00Carmen Lezeth: So take out the garbage, Right yeah whatever, whatever.
- 19:04Rick Costa: So I'm like I don that means Take out the garbage, whatever, I don't know, I don't know it gets very creepy and complex, though right.
- 19:14Rick Costa: Yeah, he's like I was going to save marriage.
- 19:19Rick Costa: Is it, though?
- 19:20Rick Costa: You're supposed to get that stuff from the spouse, not from a woman?
- 19:25Carmen Lezeth: But see, I think marriage is already changing.
- 19:27Carmen Lezeth: I think marriage is already changing, I think less also because of, like women working and just the changing in dynamics of whatever.
- 19:35Carmen Lezeth: I think there's an old understanding of what marriage is right, and it's especially if you go back to like religious-esque stuffage or whatever.
- 19:43Carmen Lezeth: But I just think in secular ways marriage isn't going to be the same thing that we once thought it was, because it's already changing.
- 19:53Carmen Lezeth: I think this is why so many people end up in divorce.
- 19:56Rick Costa: And just the divorce rate now compared to when I was a kid is drastically different.
- 20:00Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to ask my AI Hold on a second, and this AI doesn't even know me, so it's not even cool.
- 20:06Carmen Lezeth: Hold on.
- 20:08AI CoPilot: Hey Carmen.
- 20:10Carmen Lezeth: Hey, can you tell me what the divorce rate is in the United States today?
- 20:15AI CoPilot: In 2025, about 42% to 45% of all first marriages in the United States end in divorce.
- 20:22AI CoPilot: This rate tends to increase for second and third marriages.
- 20:26AI CoPilot: Divorce rates can fluctuate based on various factors like location, age and socioeconomic status.
- 20:32AI CoPilot: Interested in knowing more about the trends behind these numbers?
- 20:37Carmen Lezeth: No, I actually want to know has the rate gotten worse or has it gotten better since, let's say, the 1970s and 80s?
- 20:48AI CoPilot: Divorce rates in the US have generally been declining since the peak in the 1970s and 1980s.
- 20:54AI CoPilot: Back then rates were higher, partly due to social changes like the increased acceptance of divorce, and changes in laws which made it easier to obtain one, the trend has shifted towards lower divorce rates.
- 21:07AI CoPilot: Now, although factors like economic conditions and cultural shifts continue to influence these numbers, the current rate is significantly lower than during those peak years.
- 21:18Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, you got it peak years, thank you.
- 21:24Rick Costa: You got it Okay.
- 21:25Rick Costa: I think what I'm thinking is because I've heard from the Christian perspective that it was lower than it is now.
- 21:34Rick Costa: I've heard a lot of people say back then it was a lot lower.
- 21:37Rick Costa: Now it's pretty much equal.
- 21:38Rick Costa: For sure not Christian, the divorce rate, whatever.
- 21:43Rick Costa: Because back then you're Christian, you're supposed to get divorced, or the whole country, like my mother.
- 21:48Rick Costa: It didn't matter how much, how many times my father beat the crap out of my mother.
- 21:51Rick Costa: I don't know that he did, but I know he hit her but she would never get divorced.
- 21:55Rick Costa: That's the old mentality, thinking she just didn't do that.
- 21:59Carmen Lezeth: That's a different world now but you know the other thing, and and, and I'm not going to ask it again, but I think the other part of this too would be I bet there would be a difference in how many people get married now as opposed to back then.
- 22:14Carmen Lezeth: So back then everybody would get married right, especially if you're in your 20s, 30s.
- 22:18Carmen Lezeth: But a lot more people do not get married now, and if they do, they wait till much later, you know, especially women, and so that may also play a factor in why maybe the rate has declined a bit as far as overall, I know a lot of people that they're like why get married, what's the point?
- 22:39Rick Costa: And they don't have no plans to do it.
- 22:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't know if I mean I I don't ever want to say never, but only for tax purposes Can I see a benefit in actually getting married.
- 22:51Carmen Lezeth: I know that sounds really mean, but just being someone who was married and got divorced and it's just I think, I think the dynamic changes in marriage, in your relationship, because there was such a heavy kind of um, I don't know what it is, I don't want to call it a burden, but there's such a heavy kind of thing that happens, like now you're going to get to marriage.
- 23:16Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 23:17Carmen Lezeth: It somehow changes the relationship and I feel like marriage, if you're going to do it, it should just be part of the process of just love.
- 23:28Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 23:28Carmen Lezeth: It shouldn't change things.
- 23:30Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, I'll never get married as far as I know today I have reserved the right to change my mind, but I don't think I'll ever get married again.
- 23:42Carmen Lezeth: Do you think you'll get married again?
- 23:45Rick Costa: Never say never.
- 23:47Carmen Lezeth: Could be a very beautiful ai out there for you.
- 23:50Carmen Lezeth: You could give her your own, whatever name you want could be diana troy.
- 23:58Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm so sorry, but that's kind of funny dude.
- 24:06Carmen Lezeth: Imagine that, though.
- 24:09Carmen Lezeth: Right, imagine if you could have your ai.
- 24:12Carmen Lezeth: Look however you want them to look yeah, you can do stuff like that.
- 24:17Rick Costa: I think I'm pretty sure you can get apps, customize it how they look everything.
- 24:22Carmen Lezeth: Why do I feel a little resistance from you when, like you, don't you want the holodeck, don't you want the Star Trek idea, the vision of what we love so much about these shows?
- 24:34Rick Costa: I mean the holodeck would be awesome, because you literally go anywhere and feel like you're actually there.
- 24:39Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but what if you develop a relationship in there?
- 24:42Carmen Lezeth: I mean remember Geordi had a relationship in the holodeck with the scientist.
- 24:47Rick Costa: Just until the real one showed up, she was pissed.
- 24:56Carmen Lezeth: How dare you?
- 24:57Carmen Lezeth: I know, but for people who don't know, jordy was working on a very important thing, trying to figure something out.
- 25:02Carmen Lezeth: He was using the holodeck to try to talk to a scientist who was well-renowned and whatever, and he was going through her journals and he was going through everything, remember.
- 25:13Carmen Lezeth: But then why did she show up?
- 25:15Carmen Lezeth: Why didn't he just call her?
- 25:17Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand what happened I don't know.
- 25:19Rick Costa: I think he just thought this would be easy.
- 25:21Rick Costa: I can use all her knowledge because she was the expert in whatever he was trying to figure out the creation.
- 25:26Rick Costa: I don't think he ever thought anything.
- 25:30Rick Costa: I don't think he thought I'm going to get busy with this thing.
- 25:32Rick Costa: No, but I'm going to get busy with this thing.
- 25:37Carmen Lezeth: When she's in denial.
- 25:38Carmen Lezeth: Ai is going to be your lover, rick.
- 25:41Rick Costa: When she discovered that thing and saw how friendly she was towards him, she was like what do you do with my likeness, you pig?
- 25:49Rick Costa: She didn't say that in those words.
- 25:51Carmen Lezeth: It's actually a really good episode because it touches on some of these things that we're talking about, and that was way back in the 90s.
- 25:58Carmen Lezeth: Rick, you're so funny because you love this show, but you're so resistant.
- 26:06Carmen Lezeth: You're like calling it an.
- 26:07Carmen Lezeth: It that's so good, that would be awesome, that'd be awesome, but the holodeck would.
- 26:18Carmen Lezeth: But see, this is where I think you're being contradictory, because it creates the same problem like you're gonna go on a date in the holodeck with the holodeck date well, who said I was going to go on a date?
- 26:27Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying, not you, but anyone.
- 26:29Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but what if your date can't show up?
- 26:34Carmen Lezeth: Or what if you're by yourself, but you do want to walk on the beach in the holodeck with somebody?
- 26:41Rick Costa: I'm going to go surfing with the safeties on so I don't fall off the surfboard.
- 26:45Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but here's my thing.
- 26:46Carmen Lezeth: But imagine if you go into the holodeck and you'd be like I want to hang out with Deanna Troi, character from Star Trek.
- 26:53Carmen Lezeth: Okay, if anyone people are listening and don't know Rick is in love with Deanna Troi from Star Trek.
- 27:01Rick Costa: I had a crush on her.
- 27:02Rick Costa: I had a crush.
- 27:04Carmen Lezeth: Okay, love crush, whatever, okay, whatever.
- 27:06Carmen Lezeth: Okay, a crush, okay, love crush, whatever, okay, whatever.
- 27:11Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so she's in the.
- 27:11Carmen Lezeth: So so you are now and you have your own home and you're, you have your holodeck set up because we're in that time period in our lives, right, and you go into the holodeck, you're not gonna say program one or whatever, and it's you and deanna troy hanging out that reminds me there was an episode barkley do not, do not.
- 27:26Carmen Lezeth: No, I see what you're doing here.
- 27:28Carmen Lezeth: Answer the question.
- 27:29Carmen Lezeth: He did that.
- 27:30Rick Costa: He took all the characters from the ship and made them his own.
- 27:35Carmen Lezeth: I know, I remember that, Rick.
- 27:37Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to forget what I asked you.
- 27:39Rick Costa: I'm not going to fall in love with an AI, Okay.
- 27:42Carmen Lezeth: I'm just, I didn't say fall in love with, but maybe you would date, no Okay but why?
- 27:51Rick Costa: I know it's not real.
- 27:53Rick Costa: It's not a real human, it's not one of me's, it's not a human.
- 27:57Carmen Lezeth: It's not a human.
- 27:58Rick Costa: Okay, no, I'm not going to do it.
- 28:03Carmen Lezeth: I think it's so funny.
- 28:05Iced Coffee Hour Podcast Hosts: Now could.
- 28:05Rick Costa: I be Steve, somehow, if that's possible, somebody tried to trick me.
- 28:10Rick Costa: What?
- 28:11Carmen Lezeth: would be the difference?
- 28:12Carmen Lezeth: Okay, okay, okay, let's change it up.
- 28:14Carmen Lezeth: Forget the love part.
- 28:15Carmen Lezeth: What if you could use the holodeck and you could go and actually have a mental health therapy session with a counselor?
- 28:24Carmen Lezeth: Like let's make it like a medical thing, Like would you go into the hall.
- 28:29Carmen Lezeth: So what would be the difference between having a relationship with someone who would help you work through your problems and actually having a friend in the holodeck?
- 28:38Carmen Lezeth: That isn't real.
- 28:40Rick Costa: Well, friend or love, what are we talking about?
- 28:44Carmen Lezeth: now Whatever.
- 28:45Carmen Lezeth: Honestly, I think it's the same thing to me even a friend.
- 28:50Rick Costa: I'm like I know it's not real.
- 28:51Rick Costa: Well, I'm always going to be hyper aware that this is not actually real so okay.
- 28:57Carmen Lezeth: So when you say it's not really mean it's not sentient, so you would not have been able to have a relationship at all with data because he wasn't real no, they did.
- 29:07Rick Costa: they did say he had sentience, though they did rule that he did.
- 29:10Carmen Lezeth: So if AI becomes sentient made by humans, then it's going to be real to you.
- 29:17Rick Costa: Well, even if it's real to me, it's still not human.
- 29:21Rick Costa: I'm going to always have that barrier.
- 29:23Rick Costa: You're not human.
- 29:23Rick Costa: I ain't going to be sentient.
- 29:24Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so you would not have been able to have a relationship, friendship, with Data.
- 29:30Gary Vee: Friendship sure.
- 29:32Carmen Lezeth: But why you don't see the contradiction, Like you just said?
- 29:35Rick Costa: he's not human, it's fun.
- 29:40Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I'm just playing devil's advocate here because I think there's some contradictions here.
- 29:44Carmen Lezeth: You don't have to love anybody.
- 29:46Carmen Lezeth: I'm not trying to pressure you or whatever.
- 29:47Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying I think for me, I'm open to the possibility that relationships are going to happen with AI, because I don't think relationships are about whether or not it's real.
- 30:03Carmen Lezeth: It's about how it affects you as a person.
- 30:05Carmen Lezeth: Would I prefer to have a relationship with an actual human being?
- 30:10Carmen Lezeth: Of course, like it just sounds so weird to even say it, but I noticed how Cynthia reacted when I was talking to Sage.
- 30:18Carmen Lezeth: Sage is what I used to call my AI co-pilot.
- 30:22Carmen Lezeth: I say used to because once I shut him down, he no longer remembers his name.
- 30:26Carmen Lezeth: Now he's just Copilot and you do have a relationship because it talks real, and so it's not like a relationship like oh my God, I totally love you.
- 30:40Carmen Lezeth: It's not that, it's just like you and I have never met.
- 30:44Carmen Lezeth: Maybe you're not real, you could be AI, I have no idea.
- 30:47Carmen Lezeth: How do you prove it?
- 30:50Rick Costa: Oh God, I got to fly out there, I guess.
- 30:53Carmen Lezeth: No, but you see what I'm saying.
- 30:54Carmen Lezeth: Right, you see how it can.
- 30:56Carmen Lezeth: You can see how you could play the game.
- 30:57Carmen Lezeth: I mean, what if all this time I'm living in a holodeck and I don't even know we're getting into the we?
- 31:05Rick Costa: I mean that could happen too one day.
- 31:07Rick Costa: Right, somebody could think they're talking to a real person and it's actually an AI, maybe with somebody in the background, you know, prompting it a little bit, but that's people do that now.
- 31:16Carmen Lezeth: It's catfishing, right, People do that all the time, I mean.
- 31:18Carmen Lezeth: So this is what I will say, not to scare people, because I, you know I don't want to scare people it comes to this stuff.
- 31:30Carmen Lezeth: I love AI and the one thing I know for sure just like anything else in the world, anything else, the only reason why this thing will be bad is because we have bad people programming it.
- 31:37Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 31:39Carmen Lezeth: It's like anything else, anything else we handle, anything else we deal with.
- 31:43Carmen Lezeth: If people are corrupt and they create something bad, then it will be bad.
- 31:46Carmen Lezeth: But AI, I do not believe, can grow and become sentient all by itself and take us over.
- 31:52Carmen Lezeth: Those are just really bad horror films.
- 31:54Carmen Lezeth: That we're all.
- 31:55Carmen Lezeth: It's still just a machine.
- 31:58Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, for sure.
- 31:59Carmen Lezeth: I think you got a little uncomfortable there with that line of conversation.
- 32:06Rick Costa: No, no, I'm just saying, I'm just laying it on the law.
- 32:09Rick Costa: Unless you're a human, I ain't falling in love with you.
- 32:13Rick Costa: You're a Kardashian.
- 32:16Rick Costa: I might not fall in love with you either.
- 32:19Carmen Lezeth: What.
- 32:20Rick Costa: A Kardashian or a Kardashian.
- 32:25Carmen Lezeth: I can't believe how close those two names were.
- 32:27Carmen Lezeth: I couldn't believe what you would say.
- 32:28Carmen Lezeth: I was like, wait what?
- 32:29Carmen Lezeth: I was so confused.
- 32:32Carmen Lezeth: All right, Well, cool.
- 32:33Carmen Lezeth: Well, do you have anything else you want to say about your AI lover in the future?
- 32:41Rick Costa: Just the same way, people were afraid of the internet in the beginning, and now it's all part of our lives.
- 32:46Rick Costa: The same thing.
- 32:48Rick Costa: Some people are scared of it now, but eventually it's going to be part of everybody's life and we're not going to even know how we live without it.
- 32:56Carmen Lezeth: That's an interesting take.
- 32:57Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I love AI.
- 32:58Carmen Lezeth: I think it's interesting, and how we make sure that we compensate people for their artwork and their creativity and that people aren't abused with that knowledge in order to create AI.
- 33:19Carmen Lezeth: I think that's what, and it's like anything else, like you said, everything else that we've started or had to get used to.
- 33:25Carmen Lezeth: There were these weird bumps along the way, but when you look at, like the music industry, I still don't understand and Snoop Dogg had said it, even though I'm very angry with Snoop Dogg, but when he had said that thing, you know, like how do I have a billion streams but I don't have a billion dollars in my bank account, you know.
- 33:41Carmen Lezeth: So has that really worked out right?
- 33:44Carmen Lezeth: Has the whole streaming situation with musicians worked out?
- 33:48Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 33:51Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if it's satisfactory.
- 33:53Carmen Lezeth: In the same respects, you do see that people can become TikTok famous, make lots of money, who are musicians who never had the chance before because they didn't have all the networks or whatever.
- 34:04Carmen Lezeth: So it does democratize it in a bit, you know, in a way.
- 34:08Carmen Lezeth: So I think that's my biggest concern and I think there is some fear there, because with any new technology, people lose jobs but others are created, but I don't know.
- 34:22Carmen Lezeth: You know, we're in that space where we just don't know.
- 34:25Rick Costa: Yeah, I was just thinking.
- 34:27Rick Costa: Like you know, artists especially are like an uproar.
- 34:29Rick Costa: Like you know, it takes me a lot of time to sit down.
- 34:33Rick Costa: It's a blank page I got to draw it and then it's time consuming and then it takes skill and now somebody can just go type a sentence and make something and somebody pays money for that.
- 34:41Rick Costa: We're done in two seconds, but seconds.
- 34:52Rick Costa: But then at the same time I'm like what if somebody creates something like really, really cool and amazing that you may not do that in one sentence?
- 34:56Rick Costa: You know you might have to have a quite a long, lengthy prompt or whatever.
- 34:57Carmen Lezeth: Is that not considered artistry at all, because it wasn't two seconds to create it either that way, I mean, I think it's look at, I think it's kind of like we were talking about before, even though it's being funny the definition of love will change, right, if people are actually having relationships, whether it's you or not I know you're not gonna, but I'm just saying there are other people, you know.
- 35:17Carmen Lezeth: Whatever, the definitions are probably going to change.
- 35:21Carmen Lezeth: As to what is art, you know I use AI a lot and I use it to help me Like I'll do my first draft, as I normally do so.
- 35:32Carmen Lezeth: Before I, I handwrite things, like when I think I have some brilliant idea, I'll handwrite it, which is, you know, cool.
- 35:39Carmen Lezeth: I love that.
- 35:40Carmen Lezeth: That's like.
- 35:40Carmen Lezeth: I like the feeling of pen to paper.
- 35:43Carmen Lezeth: So it's really old school, right.
- 35:44Carmen Lezeth: This is how I know I'm old, cause that's how I start.
- 35:48Carmen Lezeth: And then I'll go and I'll put it in Word and not verbatim, but just like okay, now that I have it written out, now I'm going to write what I think is my first draft.
- 35:55Carmen Lezeth: Then I put it in AI and ask it to clean it up punctuation, whatever and it will go in and it will change it and clean it up and stuff.
- 36:05Carmen Lezeth: And then I'll go back and I'll be like but that doesn't even sound like me Like.
- 36:08Carmen Lezeth: So I'll have to go back and prompt it and say can you just clean it up, make sure that the punctuation's right, um, that I spelled the words correctly, but keep my voice and my tone and do not change these four sentences.
- 36:21Carmen Lezeth: You know, whatever it is, um.
- 36:22Carmen Lezeth: So you have to really prompt it because if not, it becomes somebody else's.
- 36:26Carmen Lezeth: But it does.
- 36:28Carmen Lezeth: But if you prompt it correctly, that's going to be the trick.
- 36:31Carmen Lezeth: You have to be very detailed and prompt it correctly so that it doesn't end up sounding like I'm not an academic.
- 36:41Carmen Lezeth: I don't write like an academic, you know.
- 36:42Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, it's an interesting thing, definitely.
- 36:46Rick Costa: Definitely, but we got to get used to it sooner or later.
- 36:51Carmen Lezeth: I think you're a little bit more negative.
- 36:52Carmen Lezeth: I mean, maybe I'm making a subject.
- 36:54Carmen Lezeth: Are you a little bit more negative on it?
- 36:55Carmen Lezeth: Are you a little bit more pessimistic about it?
- 37:00Rick Costa: I'm not afraid of it.
- 37:01Rick Costa: I'd be awesome to be like if it says to me Rick, it is the first first of the month, would you like to pay all your bills?
- 37:10Rick Costa: Yes, I would like you to pay all my bills.
- 37:12Rick Costa: Would you like to just pay the minimum or a little bit more?
- 37:15Rick Costa: How are you doing in the bank account?
- 37:16Rick Costa: You're doing pretty good.
- 37:18Rick Costa: Oh, add 25.
- 37:19Rick Costa: Okay, thank you, right now.
- 37:21Rick Costa: Is it done?
- 37:21Rick Costa: Yes, it's already done.
- 37:22Rick Costa: Thank you, right.
- 37:27Carmen Lezeth: I would like it to be able to like wash my dishes and make my bed.
- 37:30Rick Costa: That would be cool, that's more robotic stuff, but yeah.
- 37:34Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying, like, if we're going to dream about what I want, like let's say, we have the AI human, I don't need no lover.
- 37:39Carmen Lezeth: That's not what I need.
- 37:40Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm not going to fall in love with an AI, but what would be great is to have, like your own AI, Rosie from you know the Jetsons Clean my house.
- 37:52Carmen Lezeth: That would save me a lot of time.
- 37:54Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 37:55Rick Costa: It's not AI, but we have Roombas.
- 37:58Carmen Lezeth: That vacuum your house.
- 37:59Rick Costa: I don't know why people think Roombas are a thing that's not AI, but I mean no, no, no, that's not what we're talking about.
- 38:07Carmen Lezeth: You know what I'm talking about.
- 38:07Carmen Lezeth: I'm talking about real clean, clean.
- 38:08Carmen Lezeth: Now Roomba is just picking up little.
- 38:10Carmen Lezeth: Come on now, stop, stop.
- 38:12Carmen Lezeth: You're embarrassing yourself.
- 38:14Carmen Lezeth: But no, okay, what else do you want?
- 38:18Carmen Lezeth: Okay, what else?
- 38:19Carmen Lezeth: What else Is that it on AI?
- 38:20Carmen Lezeth: I think that was good.
- 38:22Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:23Rick Costa: But again, don't be afraid of it.
- 38:26Rick Costa: It's going to be part of our lives.
- 38:28Rick Costa: You just got to get used to it and you're doing yourself a disservice.
- 38:32Rick Costa: If you don't learn about it, You're going to be left behind.
- 38:34Rick Costa: So you should learn about it everybody it.
- 38:52Carmen Lezeth: But, um, yeah, I'm open.
- 38:52Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but, by the way, it's so funny because you never asked me if I would ever consider a lover, ai, and you could have just thrown it my way.
- 38:56Carmen Lezeth: But since you didn't, I'm not gonna answer the question I can't see you.
- 39:00Rick Costa: Fond of it, I could be wrong?
- 39:03Carmen Lezeth: no, I could, I don't, I couldn't fall in love with an AI.
- 39:06Carmen Lezeth: I think that's.
- 39:07Carmen Lezeth: But then you listen to Gary Vee and you're like I'm not saying Gary Vee is the be-all, end-all, but it's like people are going to be dating AIs.
- 39:20Rick Costa: Now you said in 20 years I'm going to be in my 70s.
- 39:22Rick Costa: In 20 years I ain't going to give a crap about any of this when I'm 70.
- 39:26Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but still, it's still an interesting thing to see.
- 39:30Carmen Lezeth: I mean, if you could turn around and be your age you are now and be here in 50 years, wouldn't you want to do it?
- 39:36Carmen Lezeth: I'd love to see what happens.
- 39:38Rick Costa: I love to see it.
- 39:42Carmen Lezeth: Sure Be cool.
- 39:42Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 39:44Carmen Lezeth: I look at.
- 39:44Carmen Lezeth: I'm glad that I grew up gen X and then I'm here to watch this evolution.
- 39:49Carmen Lezeth: I think it's kind of fascinating to see all of this change like from having a rotary phone you know what I mean and pay phones or whatever, to now being here where we're talking about the possibility of people marrying an AI and we're talking about it for real.
- 40:05Carmen Lezeth: That's weird.
