- 0:08Leyla Zmeskal: Hello and welcome to Boozy Banter With Friends.
- 0:12Trisha Smith: Join us this week as we explore the supernatural,
- 0:16Leyla Zmeskal: With the little sass,
- 0:17Trisha Smith: The unexplained,
- 0:19Leyla Zmeskal: And a side of snark,
- 0:20Trisha Smith: And tales of other worldly shenanigans,
- 0:23Leyla Zmeskal: Grab your favorite spirit and join me, Leyla,
- 0:26Trisha Smith: And me, Trisha and meet us on the other side.
- 0:37Leyla Zmeskal: Hello,
- 0:39Trisha Smith: Hi,
- 0:40Leyla Zmeskal: How are ya?
- 0:41Trisha Smith: I'm good,
- 0:42Leyla Zmeskal: Good.
- 0:43Trisha Smith: How are you?
- 0:44Leyla Zmeskal: Good.
- 0:45Trisha Smith: Good.
- 0:46Leyla Zmeskal: Really good. I mean,
- 0:49Trisha Smith: No, you already said good. You can't change your mind now.
- 0:52Leyla Zmeskal: I'm pretty good.
- 0:52Leyla Zmeskal: No, I have nothing to complain about. Except that it's a little chilly outside right now.
- 1:02Trisha Smith: It is.
- 1:04Leyla Zmeskal: I mean, I'm okay with,
- 1:05Trisha Smith: January, in Florida.
- 1:08Leyla Zmeskal: I know,
- 1:08Trisha Smith: You know, it's got to get in the 60s at some point.
- 1:11Leyla Zmeskal: The 60s. We're in the 50s,
- 1:13Trisha Smith: Barely.
- 1:15Leyla Zmeskal: It was like a solid 53 driving over here today. Everybodies like fuck you Florida. Solid 53.
- 1:25Trisha Smith: Negative 10.
- 1:27Leyla Zmeskal: I know,
- 1:27Trisha Smith: Up north,
- 1:28Leyla Zmeskal: It's double sweater weather.
- 1:31Trisha Smith: Doubles, I can't even bust out a coat.
- 1:34Leyla Zmeskal: Double sweater.
- 1:38Trisha Smith: That is true.
- 1:39Leyla Zmeskal: It is true.
- 1:40Trisha Smith: It's true.
- 1:40Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah. I was panicked. I couldn't find my sweater. I found my lighter sweater couldn't find my heavier sweater. I'm like, where is it?
- 1:46Leyla Zmeskal: Ima gonna die walking outside without my heavier sweater.
- 1:55Leyla Zmeskal: Frostbite and everything, I didn't want to walk outside in the jacket, because then all the neighbors would look at me like, freak.
- 2:02Trisha Smith: 53
- 2:04Leyla Zmeskal: With my fuzzy hood up.
- 2:07Trisha Smith: Probably blend wide right in with everybody else around here. So but that is why I made us warm drinks today.
- 2:16Leyla Zmeskal: It's good.
- 2:17Trisha Smith: Yeah.
- 2:19Leyla Zmeskal: It's a twisty one.
- 2:20Trisha Smith: It is, it is I actually wanted to make like a coconut Mohito because just like three days ago, it was almost 80 was so hot. I mean, like when you're outside in the sun, it was hot so I'm like, Oh, I would I could really go for a Mohito.
- 2:34Trisha Smith: Well, then today is a little chilly. So I made, I wanted hot buttered rum. Because I didn't get to make it over Christmas.
- 2:44Trisha Smith: And so I'm like, Oh, I really want to make that, i'll just make today. Then I went to go dig around for some rum. And I decided to get creative. And
- 2:54Leyla Zmeskal: You did.
- 2:55Trisha Smith: City Gate Coconut Rum.
- 2:58Leyla Zmeskal: Yes.
- 2:59Trisha Smith: And it's good.
- 3:01Leyla Zmeskal: It's good. It really is. I mean, I know we've said this about city gates for many times before, but their stuff is so good. And the coconut rum is one of our favorite,
- 3:14Trisha Smith: Right.
- 3:15Leyla Zmeskal: And it really went well with this drink.
- 3:18Trisha Smith: Surprisingly now, I will say I could have saved myself a lot of work and just made some chai tea and then added the coconut rum to it because that's exactly what tastes like.
- 3:28Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah.
- 3:30Trisha Smith: There's just something about knowing I've got a scoop of butter and brown sugar and,
- 3:38Leyla Zmeskal: All of the things.
- 3:40Trisha Smith: It just makes it just taste that much better in
- 3:43Leyla Zmeskal: I mean, on a nice, chilly day, a nice warm, my mind.
- 3:47Trisha Smith: Cup of butter.
- 3:49Leyla Zmeskal: Nice warm scoop of butter,
- 3:52Trisha Smith: In your cocktail.
- 3:52Trisha Smith: How can you go wrong?
- 3:56Leyla Zmeskal: I mean, you can't.
- 3:57Trisha Smith: Some people are working on you know, their,
- 4:01Leyla Zmeskal: Fitness.
- 4:01Trisha Smith: Yeah.
- 4:02Leyla Zmeskal: What do you do?
- 4:02Leyla Zmeskal: Give me a scoop of butter.
- 4:05Trisha Smith: In my cocktail.
- 4:07Leyla Zmeskal: We failed.
- 4:10Trisha Smith: Tried really hard, like for the first week or two?
- 4:13Trisha Smith: And then you know, just it is what it is. If I suddenly get exercise-y, then it happens.
- 4:23Leyla Zmeskal: Exercise-y. All of a sudden they get,
- 4:27Trisha Smith: All of a sudden,
- 4:28Leyla Zmeskal: Get exercise-y,
- 4:29Trisha Smith: Yeah, if I wake up one day and I'm like, I really want to do exercise-y stuff.
- 4:32Trisha Smith: I'll do it. I don't see that happening, but if I did, it would happen.
- 4:41Leyla Zmeskal: Have you seen, speaking of exercise-y. Have you seen like the new hula hoop things? The weighted hula hoops?
- 4:51Trisha Smith: Any time you open Tik Tok that's
- 4:53Leyla Zmeskal: That's all you see.
- 4:54Trisha Smith: Right?
- 4:55Leyla Zmeskal: It gets you thinking like, I wonder if that really works. I mean,
- 4:59Trisha Smith: You know, I have just busted out a regular hula hoop with Donovan every now and then,
- 5:04Leyla Zmeskal: It's a lot of work.
- 5:05Trisha Smith: It's exhausting,
- 5:06Leyla Zmeskal: But then you don't. But I think it's more exhausting because you actually have to focus on keeping it up.
- 5:11Leyla Zmeskal: This is like securely around your body and you just make that weighted ball fly around.
- 5:18Trisha Smith: Yeah, you don't have to actively do anything,
- 5:21Leyla Zmeskal: No you're just like,
- 5:21Trisha Smith: It's just gonna stay up.
- 5:24Leyla Zmeskal: Like you just have to like, rock back and forth. But the like the the center part, you know, there's no risk of it falling down and you have to, you know, start all over. I mean, I don't know.
- 5:35Leyla Zmeskal: It'll start all over again. They
- 5:38Trisha Smith: 30 minutes is a long time.
- 5:39Trisha Smith: say 30 minutes.
- 5:42Leyla Zmeskal: That's a fuck ton of time,
- 5:44Trisha Smith: I know, like five.
- 5:44Trisha Smith: Maybe
- 5:48Leyla Zmeskal: I've thought about it. But then I looked at the prices. I'm like, oh, man, that's a bottle of booze. Do I want to waste that much money?
- 5:54Trisha Smith: Is it a lot?
- 5:55Leyla Zmeskal: No, it's not a lot. I mean, depends on if you want to get like a fancier one that's got like a counter that'll tell you like, you've done 17 revolutions around your body.
- 6:13Trisha Smith: Now I've seen this other fitness thing for Christmas. I bought my husband the Oculus. Yes. And they really cool. So they have this fitness app thing for it where you use the Oculus to exercise so you're supposed to like wave your arms around and jump over things. And so
- 6:31Leyla Zmeskal: If you ever do that, please invite me over.
- 6:35Trisha Smith: I put this thing on and I'm instantly I instantly have motion sickness. Oh, yeah.
- 6:39Trisha Smith: And then on top of that, like you I can't even imagine trying to jump over things that aren't really there. I mean, would look ridiculous and I would injure myself terribly. Just sayin,
- 6:56Leyla Zmeskal: Think maybe we'll start on the the hula hoop thing.
- 7:00Trisha Smith: Maybe just start with a walk.
- 7:03Leyla Zmeskal: Let's just get back down to basics. That means no more scoop of butter in your cocktail.
- 7:09Trisha Smith: Oh, hell no.
- 7:13Leyla Zmeskal: Scoop of butter, brown sugar, and city gates.
- 7:15Leyla Zmeskal: Coconut Rum.
- 7:16Trisha Smith: Oh, gosh. Oh, there's a little extra. There's some cinnamon in there. I may have overdone it a little bit with the cloves,
- 7:23Leyla Zmeskal: Good thing I like clove.
- 7:24Trisha Smith: Good thing, I put a shit ton in there on accident.
- 7:29Leyla Zmeskal: You like tripled the recipe.
- 7:31Trisha Smith: It's like a quarter of a teaspoon. Half a teaspoon. works. The same.
- 7:40Leyla Zmeskal: That's good, though. I like it.
- 7:41Trisha Smith: Thank you.
- 7:42Leyla Zmeskal: That's good.
- 7:42Trisha Smith: Thank you. Thank you.
- 7:43Leyla Zmeskal: Nice, nice warm drink.
- 7:44Trisha Smith: Watching anything?
- 7:45Leyla Zmeskal: No, I don't think so. I don't think so.
- 7:48Trisha Smith: Me neither.
- 7:49Leyla Zmeskal: No.
- 7:50Trisha Smith: That was that was a lot of thinking. Both of our parts I think like they're not doing I read a lot this last couple weeks. Last episode, I was talking about a book series.
- 8:04Trisha Smith: They had just started about those three ladies that flip houses and there haunted. There are eight books in the series, and I finished all of them this last week.
- 8:13Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, wow. That's nice.
- 8:14Trisha Smith: Yeah, so I just had some extra time and they're really good. Meh. You know, they're really good. But they're sometimes they're a little far fetched. And yeah, like super Farfetch. Like, you know, they become the Beverly Hillbillies and strike gold. And now they have all this money that they can do all these things with, which makes it less realistic.
- 8:40Trisha Smith: But then on top of that, they use like, theu use a ouiji board.
- 8:44Leyla Zmeskal: Oh,
- 8:46Trisha Smith: In every book.
- 8:47Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, yeah.
- 8:48Trisha Smith: The one girls reasoning is like,
- 8:50Leyla Zmeskal: Diane's like nope
- 8:51Trisha Smith: I know.
- 8:51Leyla Zmeskal: I just challenged I challenge a channeled Diane challenge. Diane, Diane, you're not even here. I'm challenging you. channeled. Diane, right.
- 8:59Leyla Zmeskal: Like, Oh, hell no,
- 9:04Trisha Smith: Exactly. And so, you know, the one girl's reasoning in the book, I think it was like, maybe book six. You know, she finally acknowledges that people. I'm sure she's gotten reader feedback that like, oh, you can't use that as a portal to hell. And her reasoning. The character in the book is if you use all the other stuff, why would this be any different? If you use Taro, if you use, you know, the spirit box if you use you know, these other things to communicate, why would this be any different? And honestly, I mean, there was no good explanation. No, everybody agreed with her.
- 9:48Leyla Zmeskal: I mean, think of it that way you're like
- 9:51Trisha Smith: Is we'll have to ask Bri the next time yeah, we see her.
- 9:55Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 9:56Trisha Smith: Does is the Weegee board any worse than using like a spirit box are some ways some other way of communicating.
- 10:03Leyla Zmeskal: You know what we need to have Bri on like call in, like when we have these questions,
- 10:11Trisha Smith: Question Bri like a big red button where you
- 10:17Leyla Zmeskal: Just call Bri.
- 10:17Leyla Zmeskal: Bri we know you're listening to this, so let's make it happen.
- 10:25Trisha Smith: She'd get tired of us real quick.
- 10:27Leyla Zmeskal: She would she'd be like, Fuck you bitches. Fuck you dehydrated bitches. Drink your water and Move your asses.
- 10:35Leyla Zmeskal: Stop putting butter in your shit.
- 10:38Trisha Smith: I tried. I thought I'll be real good. I got motors she motivated me and I put on my Apple watch. And I turned on my little fitness. And I was gonna walk 10,000 steps. Do you know how much 10,000 steps is of walking? It's a hell. No.
- 10:56Trisha Smith: Although I did go. I did go to Disney this last week with my grandson. And that's easy. Too.
- 11:01Trisha Smith: Easy. It just
- 11:06Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, absolutely.
- 11:06Leyla Zmeskal: But in the house and like real life. Yeah.
- 11:11Trisha Smith: I mean, I just be walking in circles.
- 11:12Leyla Zmeskal: You know what? We could be one of those old ladies at the mall. And due to our steps at the mall,
- 11:19Trisha Smith: Orange Julius, do you remember those?
- 11:21Leyla Zmeskal: I do. I do. But I was thinking like it's closer to happy hour so that they after we completed our go to happy hour and get our glass of wine.
- 11:30Trisha Smith: That's true. I mean, I would walk for wine.
- 11:33Leyla Zmeskal: I walk for wine.
- 11:34Trisha Smith: Yeah, we should start that. Yeah. Okay. Okay, let's try it.
- 11:40Leyla Zmeskal: And if we're really adventurous if it's a really nice day, we can do a lap around the mall on the outside.
- 11:46Trisha Smith: I can remember on the sidewalks, sidewalks.
- 11:51Leyla Zmeskal: Kinda slightly sidewalk key. Anyway, that's it.
- 11:56Leyla Zmeskal: That's it for me.
- 11:57Trisha Smith: That's all you got.
- 11:58Leyla Zmeskal: That's all I got.
- 11:59Trisha Smith: Now. You got more than that. We got to tell me today.
- 12:01Leyla Zmeskal: All right, I got a story. Ah, I got to story. And hey, Trisha, what do you want me to tell you a joke about a piece of paper? No, nevermind. It's terrible.
- 12:19Trisha Smith: You're welcome.
- 12:19Trisha Smith: You Just had to get one in every
- 12:22Leyla Zmeskal: Single episode.
- 12:22Leyla Zmeskal: This season shall have a dad joke.
- 12:28Trisha Smith: Do you really want to call it a dad joke?
- 12:30Leyla Zmeskal: I know. I don't have kids. I'm kind of like a faux PA. I got second. Totally good.
- 12:43Trisha Smith: Sweetie waiting for me to say no. That
- 12:45Leyla Zmeskal: Worked out just spontaneously. I mean, that really was just opportunistic.
- 12:47Leyla Zmeskal: Luck. So do you remember the movie? Christine? Yeah. Okay, remember the book and everything about the car that was possessed and terrorize a small town.
- 13:01Leyla Zmeskal: Right? And the kid was obsessed with his car. Well, I'm going to tell you a little story about the most evil car in America.
- 13:10Leyla Zmeskal: Not the most haunted. Oh, just evil, the most evil list of cars.
- 13:17Trisha Smith: It's not possessed?
- 13:18Leyla Zmeskal: Well, that might be up for debate. Okay, tell me.
- 13:22Leyla Zmeskal: So it was a 1964 Dodge 330 limited edition, called the Golden Eagle.
- 13:33Trisha Smith: Oh.
- 13:38Leyla Zmeskal: There have been numerous mysterious deaths associated with this car. Okay, so this is one of those stories that has been told enough times to become legend. Yeah, so the story mostly comes from the current owner of the car, a lady by the name of Wendy Allen.
- 14:01Trisha Smith: Oh, okay.
- 14:02Leyla Zmeskal: She also goes by the name eel cat. And she's also been called the Sea Witch of Old Orchard Beach.
- 14:12Trisha Smith: Okay. Let's see which again,
- 14:17Leyla Zmeskal: Of Old Orchard Beach. She herself claims to collect haunted cars. So this isn't the first haunted car that she has owned, she says. And she uses those haunted cars as inspiration for her writings. So she writes stories. And if you're interested and checking out her story, she has a website and you can find all of her books on there. Yeah, her website is,
- 14:44Trisha Smith: Unique.
- 14:45Leyla Zmeskal: Very unique. She just,
- 14:48Trisha Smith: She's a lot.
- 14:49Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, man. Holy biscuits.
- 14:55Trisha Smith: Okay. Okay.
- 14:57Trisha Smith: So back to the story.
- 14:59Leyla Zmeskal: So the car originally was used by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department in Maine.
- 15:05Trisha Smith: Oh, okay.
- 15:06Leyla Zmeskal: Okay. However, the car didn't stay with the department for very long. It only lasted for about a year.
- 15:13Leyla Zmeskal: Hmm. I wonder why.
- 15:14Trisha Smith: Yeah.
- 15:15Leyla Zmeskal: Okay.
- 15:16Trisha Smith: Well, why would the police department have a rare car to begin?
- 15:19Leyla Zmeskal: Apparently they bought a couple of them for their department. But again, that's that's a question like, why would they buy a limited edition for their squad cars?
- 15:32Trisha Smith: Right. And maybe I would think that limited edition means this meant the same then as it does now. Oh, expensive.
- 15:41Trisha Smith: Yeah. Right. I would think so.
- 15:41Trisha Smith: Okay, So I bought a couple of them,
- 15:46Leyla Zmeskal: Apparently. And each there was only three officers that ever drove the car. Okay, because it was only with the department for a year.
- 15:52Leyla Zmeskal: But all three officers that drove the car died,
- 15:59Trisha Smith: In the car?
- 16:00Leyla Zmeskal: Not in the car.
- 16:00Leyla Zmeskal: They all murdered their families and committed suicide. Why? All three of them.
- 16:09Trisha Smith: Wow.
- 16:10Leyla Zmeskal: So like a first like, oh, this, you know, cop gets like, Oh, yay, you get this limited edition. You know, 330 Limited. Blah, dodge. Yeah, thing. Oh, that's awesome.
- 16:22Leyla Zmeskal: Thanks, guys. And then all of a sudden, he falls into some kind of state goes home one night kills his family and himself.
- 16:30Leyla Zmeskal: And then it happens again. And then the second cops like, Hey, you get this car? Whoo. Didn't Larry, you know wasn't Larry's car. Yeah. But he says
- 16:39Trisha Smith: He didn't kill himself in the car. Pie. Like okay, sure. I'll take and then he does the same thing does the same thing. So the third guy be like, No way.
- 16:48Leyla Zmeskal: Why did I pull the short straw? Yeah. And still he took still he took the car.
- 16:54Trisha Smith: Yeah, there any accidents like in the making of the car? Like somebody fall into like a metal press?
- 17:01Leyla Zmeskal: That's a good question. You know, like, was there the car haunted for at the assembly line, right, an accident and no one knows that part.
- 17:11Trisha Smith: Okay.
- 17:12Leyla Zmeskal: So after the third officer committed, you know, the murder suicide deal.
- 17:16Leyla Zmeskal: It led the agency to sell the car to a local older man, who then the cost of the car was silver at the time. But then he painted it like this orange metallic flake,
- 17:32Trisha Smith: He didn't want people to know he was driving an old cop car.
- 17:34Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah. Okay, that had murdered death kills associated with it. Suppose so the man said that the car would do weird things, when he would drive it. Like the doors would open up by themselves. While they were like he was traveling down the highway for no reason,
- 17:51Trisha Smith: Trying to kick them out.
- 17:54Leyla Zmeskal: Maybe because the seatbelts would release on their own. And you couldn't like this car would speed up and you couldn't like get the speed of the car to change like it would just go faster for no reason.
- 18:05Leyla Zmeskal: And the steering wheel were like jerk oddly, so this is all things so he got really freaked out about all these like weird things and he just you know parked it in his garage any left it there for a little while. So here come along this mechanic who collected old cars, and he thought like those defects were, you know, factory defects and he's like, since I'm a mechanic I can let's see what I can do.
- 18:34Leyla Zmeskal: So it said that he took the engine out, took out all the circuits and stuff and like basically like, you know,
- 18:42Trisha Smith: Rebuilt the car,
- 18:44Leyla Zmeskal: Like you're shutting your computer off for so many seconds and then like turning it back on like a hard start or restart, but the weirdness continued.
- 18:53Trisha Smith: So he didn't sell the mechanic his car. He just had him.
- 18:56Leyla Zmeskal: No, he did have he did sell it to like, oh, okay, like he did sell it to a mechanic the mechanic said, you know, I can fix it and I'm a collector, so I guess he thought that he could fix it, but he didn't knew. Okay, real day the weird things continued. And the people like in the town like I guess this is small town, Old Orchard Beach sounds like a small town. They really started to think the car was possessed.
- 19:19Leyla Zmeskal: The mechanic who own the car said almost every day he would find small dead animals around the car. Oh my god, it gets weirder. Okay, okay. One day, a little girl was hit by a car riding her bike not far from where the mechanic lived. And the impact of the little girl sent the little girl flying through the air and straight into the bumper of the Golden Eagle. And apparently that wasn't the only kid to be flung like hits and then like flung towards the car. Wow. But not hit by the car not hit by the car hit and then like flung to the car. Yeah, so I get By that time with all the weirdness the mechanic is like, well, I'm done too. So then the car was sold to the alum family and that's who are the well it was sold to Wendy Ellen's dad. Okay. And then it would pass down to her.
- 20:17Leyla Zmeskal: So the Alan's were fully aware of the car's history, but they continue to drive it anyway. And oddly enough, they were never really harmed even though they did say that they did experience like the doors opening up when they were driving down the highway.
- 20:33Trisha Smith: Wow, they didn't find small dead animals around the car.
- 20:37Leyla Zmeskal: Um, she did. She did. And when I guess like, in one of the, one of the things that I've read, she did take the, like some of these animals to the vet for a necropsy, and it said that they were electrocuted. Oh, like weird, huh? Right. Yeah, yeah. Okay.
- 20:53Leyla Zmeskal: That's however, they never were harmed in any way. But if anybody else touched the car, they would meet a horrible fate.
- 21:03Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah. With rumors starting to spread about the car in the 80s and 90s. Members of a local church vandalized the car at a fear it would murder again. Oh, there's churchgoers in a small town churchgoers. So according to the stories, there's many stories, some members of the group died tragically by being to capitated by an 18 Wheeler,
- 21:37Trisha Smith: The vandalizers?
- 21:39Leyla Zmeskal: Vangelizers like apparently like there was an accident and the car went underneath the truck and like cut the top of the car off, decapitating them, not the car, but the car that people people evangelizers. Yeah. And the ones that were not to capitated by the 18 Wheeler died by being struck by lightning. What so they all died. Like it said that all the people that were part of that Yeah, yeah. Oh, I know.
- 22:10Leyla Zmeskal: Weird, huh? Yeah, that's not the weirdest thing. Do you want to know the most horrific? Yes. And tragic? Yes. So the most horrific murder suicide associated with this car is the cascade murders. The Cascade murder even has a name.
- 22:29Trisha Smith: Oh,
- 22:30Leyla Zmeskal: Likem how weird is that?
- 22:31Trisha Smith: And it's associated with this car.
- 22:33Leyla Zmeskal: This car. Okay.
- 22:33Leyla Zmeskal: It is said that back in 2008. A young boy was playing with his friends and his friends dared him to go touch the car.
- 22:45Trisha Smith: Okay, where's the car now?
- 22:47Leyla Zmeskal: It's at the Allen's house.
- 22:49Trisha Smith: Where are the Allens?
- 22:50Leyla Zmeskal: They live in some kind of state? Me. They live are they still live in Old Orchard Beach? Oh, okay. So they still live. They still live there.
- 22:58Leyla Zmeskal: Okay, so apparently, this kid snuck onto the Allen's property because he was dared by his friends to go touch this car.
- 23:07Leyla Zmeskal: Because I guess you know when you're in a small town,
- 23:11Trisha Smith: So this is this car is this town's haunted house?
- 23:15Leyla Zmeskal: Right?
- 23:15Trisha Smith: Right. Okay, right.
- 23:17Leyla Zmeskal: So he did, right?
- 23:17Leyla Zmeskal: He snuck onto the property. He touched the butt. I mean, the car touch the car but. And he went back home. Were later he took a picture knife and killed his parents, his grandmother and his siblings.
- 23:39Trisha Smith: Oh, my God,
- 23:41Leyla Zmeskal: Even the dog.
- 23:41Leyla Zmeskal: Then he set the house on fire burning it to the ground just from
- 23:49Trisha Smith: Touching the car, but just from touching the car.
- 23:51Trisha Smith: But now what What about his friends now are his friends, the ones who are like
- 23:56Leyla Zmeskal: His friends like they're in the store? The store reads and I can't like cite any specific site. Because I just read so many from so many. You know, so many stories from so many sites, the only ones that actually spoke out I guess whereas the kids neighbors which was like the town manager or something and said that the boy was possessed. Well, yeah, and of course like the cop they said the cops got there and they laughed at these people and but then later on and another story that I read, it said that the town manager was crazy. So after that in 2010, yet another local church decided to try and stop the car, believing that it was possessed by a demon. They stole the car, chopped it up and distributed the parts around various junkyards in the area.
- 24:49Trisha Smith: So people who went and got parts could now have their own possess car
- 24:53Leyla Zmeskal: Right because that's not going to that's you.
- 24:56Leyla Zmeskal: I guess okay. It is said that out Lin was very devastated about the car being stolen and it took to the internet after the incident where she rallied up help from supporters. She was able to track down and collect enough pieces of the car to have it put back together. I'm just gonna say what the fuck. Like you're so obsessed with this car that you are tracking down pieces of this car. She was
- 25:25Trisha Smith: She was probably possessed to put it back together. She's
- 25:30Leyla Zmeskal: She says although it wasn't exactly like it used to be, she was able to retrieve most of the car parts. She now has the car hidden and the car is in a safe place from anybody who wants to harm it
- 25:47Trisha Smith: Possessed.
- 25:51Leyla Zmeskal: She also claims that the car is not a killer, but it's most certainly haunted.
- 25:55Leyla Zmeskal: The car has 14 death associated with it. But she thinks it could be as high as 32. Oh, but
- 26:05Trisha Smith: Let's put it back together.
- 26:06Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, because that's a great idea. So Alan is accused of using black magic to curse her vehicles. But she shrugs off the comments saying that people are reading too much into things that have happened to people over this car. She also claims that the town she lives in has an abnormally high rate of suicides, and the mass murder suicides in York County are the highest in the country.
- 26:34Leyla Zmeskal: And Old Orchard Beach has the highest rate of Officer suicide in the state of Maine. So is the whole fucking town crazy. Is it one of those towns that are just weird? Well,
- 26:49Trisha Smith: I can understand, statistically, you know, a state having this or that, you know, a high rate of suicide a high rate of murder, but their town, not the state but their town sounds like it's above and beyond.
- 27:05Leyla Zmeskal: It sounds like a frickin Stephen King novel.
- 27:07Trisha Smith: Right? Right. But yeah, I mean, I think she's possessed too. Like if instead of making her do something bad it needs caretaker. Right. And like the Stephen King's car.
- 27:20Trisha Smith: Right, right.
- 27:21Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah. So I wonder if he got that store. It said that he did. Oh, okay. said that. That was his like, some of it was like main right. You know,
- 27:31Trisha Smith: He said he probably hurt like, heard about it in may know this story. Was there any press about the the cascade murders,
- 27:42Leyla Zmeskal: There was there was like a snippet about the cascade murders. However, there's really no press about the murder suicide with the cops. Like there was no, in all of the stories that I've read.
- 27:54Leyla Zmeskal: There wasn't really anything about the murder suicides. There was in one story, there was a link to the cascade murders.
- 28:04Leyla Zmeskal: Okay, yeah. So is the car truly possessed? Or has some unfortunate events around this car? Made it legend in this small town that obviously has a lot of horrible events on a regular basis? I don't know. I don't know. What do you think?
- 28:26Trisha Smith: I don't know.
- 28:28Leyla Zmeskal: If you look at this Wendy Allen's website, she like she claims that the police department put a bomb in her house what she claims that the townspeople like murder her animals and like cut their heads off and like tack them to the her door like she's got some claim. She claims like she's a gypsy, a witch. She drives around this car now called the dazzling raspberry or something like that, where she it's like a Volvo, that she's glued like 1000s of stones and trinkets to this car. And she uses it for autism awareness. The Her website is interesting, really interesting.
- 29:15Trisha Smith: To check it out. I feel like there's some basis to the story as far as there was probably a murder suicide, maybe two. And you know, something else may have happened, like a guy owned it. And then he told some store I think like the stories have definitely been embellished over the year.
- 29:34Trisha Smith: Right. Right. And maybe the common thread is maybe a couple of these people owned this car at the time. But I find it I mean, there's got to be a backstory to that kid. It couldn't have just been he touched the car in the car.
- 29:48Trisha Smith: Yeah. What did they say about him at school? Was he like, mentally unstable ready? No, I think.
- 29:55Leyla Zmeskal: The trouble was, you know, what was the backstory? I agree. You don't know. And especially if what she says is true about the town she lives in, then clearly there's a lot of mental health issues.
- 30:12Trisha Smith: Because if they're terrorizing her, or if they try and stole her car, and
- 30:19Leyla Zmeskal: Have you heard of towns that are just bad, like there's stuff in the water runoff and things that just right like have like that effect on people, maybe this is one of those towns that just have those maybe has that effect of
- 30:35Trisha Smith: Just a small town.
- 30:35Trisha Smith: You know, when you live in a tiny town, the rumor mill is the gospel. Somebody spreads a rumor. And it's the truth, though nobody tries to verify it, because so and so's cousins brothers. Uncle said it was true. So it must be true.
- 30:53Leyla Zmeskal: And if you couple with being a highly religious town, right, then oh, goodness, yeah. I mean, she'll go like on her website, she goes into a lot of like, there's, I guess there's a lot of prejudice in the town.
- 31:10Trisha Smith: I wouldn't be surprised.
- 31:11Leyla Zmeskal: I can. No.
- 31:12Trisha Smith: I mean, you think about the fact that Maine is already an under populated state, like it's not one of your bigger states where there's a lot of people, so their towns then in turn are smaller. And then in turn, they're probably you know, churches always a social place, you know, so probably the majority of their town goes to one or two of the local churches where they're getting their information from.
- 31:44Leyla Zmeskal: I don't know. I mean, it's, there's some crazy stuff on that on her website.
- 31:47Leyla Zmeskal: There's some crazy claims, right? That are really just unheard of. It's Wow. I mean, I could I could go on and on. It sounds
- 31:59Trisha Smith: Like whew.
- 32:01Leyla Zmeskal: So if you want to check out some of her stories, check out Wendy Allen's website.
- 32:03Leyla Zmeskal: Just Google her.
- 32:07Trisha Smith: Yeah. Yeah. Just
- 32:10Leyla Zmeskal: Just go Google the sea, which have Old Orchard Beach or eel cats.
- 32:15Trisha Smith: They who gave her these names to she she
- 32:19Leyla Zmeskal: Came up with eel cat herself. Okay, thank but I think the townspeople dubbed her the sea witch portrait, okay.
- 32:28Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah. I know. It's a weird one.
- 32:31Trisha Smith: It is a weird one.
- 32:31Trisha Smith: I gotta show you.
- 32:34Leyla Zmeskal: Good. I'll show you now. Oh my god. I'm gonna show you Okay. All right. Oh, check it out. Alright, sounds good. All right. Next time later.
