- 0:00Speaker 1: Reading the stars.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Alex is just reading the stars. We got a shoe
- 0:06Speaker 2: house for three and post game shows, beats in the booth,
- 0:10Speaker 2: making everything. We're all pretty stoked about Rabel and Meg and.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Everybody still Peyton, no Christian.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hey, it's a brand Peal season past.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Give us something to believe and ready for three shows
- 0:26Speaker 1: the week.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It's been too long enough.
- 0:29Speaker 4: I get a T shirt for riding this song.
- 0:32Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,
- 0:37Speaker 1: buy a Toyota dot com.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Welcome. I don't see it tally later. Our camera's on
- 0:52Speaker 2: there we go. All right, all right, what's going on?
- 1:00Speaker 5: Remember back in the old days when you would forget
- 1:02Speaker 5: to put your mic on?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Oh yeah, put your mic on Rat, put your mic
- 1:05Speaker 2: on Fred.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Who was that kid to gender to gender Daniel to
- 1:08Speaker 5: gender fit in?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Well today anyway, Jesus, all right, it is Wednesday, first
- 1:17Speaker 2: Wednesday show off the regular. It is Wednesday here at
- 1:19Speaker 2: Jillette Stadium, and we're back to three days a week.
- 1:22Speaker 2: In case you haven't noticed, Uh, it's Paul, it's Deuce,
- 1:26Speaker 2: it's me. Evan will be by later because he's going
- 1:29Speaker 2: to where.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Well, I think he just did two hours of radio
- 1:32Speaker 6: and we all felt we'd save everybody from another two
- 1:34Speaker 6: hours of joking.
- 1:35Speaker 5: That's probably a reason.
- 1:36Speaker 2: That's a great one. He's gonna do a little Rabel.
- 1:39Speaker 7: He's gonna we're gonna do the locker room and.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Well, we're gonna go to Rabel to live. Everybody comes on.
- 1:43Speaker 6: Then I'll go to the locker room. He'll be come in,
- 1:45Speaker 6: he'll come in after practice. I'll report, so you know,
- 1:47Speaker 6: there'll be some comings and goings.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of movement, a lot of a
- 1:50Speaker 2: lot of moving, moving stuff going on in today's show.
- 1:52Speaker 2: But here we are talking about week one. We kicked
- 1:57Speaker 2: it off yesterday, a lively show. Very are you excited?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Raiders coming to town? One o'clock tilt here at Jilette Stadium.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Weather's going to be beautiful.
- 2:07Speaker 7: Yeah, it looked a little gray. I checked the forecast.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Now it's a little rainy.
- 2:10Speaker 7: But see was supposed to be really nice, but perhaps
- 2:14Speaker 7: perhaps wrong, you know, you know, New England, Paul, though
- 2:16Speaker 7: the weather changes.
- 2:16Speaker 5: If you don't like it, just wait a minute.
- 2:18Speaker 7: Wait a minute.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Patriot's still favored by about.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And a half till last I checked, was that.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Moved it all from the beginning. Was it three? Was it?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Has it gone up?
- 2:29Speaker 5: I do not know the answer to that question.
- 2:31Speaker 7: No, let's see.
- 2:32Speaker 6: I mean maybe today after see some of the first
- 2:34Speaker 6: injury report of the year, so perhaps that I.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Think you'll lose that half point because Gonzo was a
- 2:39Speaker 2: question I think.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Could be you get three. Speaking of Gonzo, Yes, I
- 2:48Speaker 5: started to think a little bit about Fred's sort of subterfuge,
- 2:52Speaker 5: the ruse if you will, what if the what if
- 2:57Speaker 5: we see him? Do you think there's a chance you
- 2:58Speaker 5: see him on the practice field today, like when we
- 3:00Speaker 5: get the injury report at four o'clock or so or
- 3:02Speaker 5: whenever it comes out it' says Christian Gonzales Limited Limited. Yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 5: do you think there's a chance of that?
- 3:08Speaker 4: Yes?
- 3:09Speaker 5: Well, and if so, okay, would that be your subterfuge?
- 3:14Speaker 5: Like the other way, like we're not going to hold
- 3:16Speaker 5: him out to make the Raiders think he's not playing.
- 3:20Speaker 7: We're going to have We're going to have.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Practicing a little bit so the media sees him to
- 3:25Speaker 5: make the Raiders think he is playing. Right like that
- 3:27Speaker 5: at least that's where the subterfuge comes in and Fred's there,
- 3:31Speaker 5: But maybe on the other side.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Of it, I would be more leaning to that. If
- 3:35Speaker 2: today wasn't a day in pads, they're going to be
- 3:37Speaker 2: in pads. You know, you really going through the motions
- 3:42Speaker 2: if you make them dressing pads just to have them.
- 3:45Speaker 5: I don't necessarily think they're going through the motions. I
- 3:47Speaker 5: just don't think after missing five straight weeks of work,
- 3:51Speaker 5: you can just walk out there and practice a couple
- 3:53Speaker 5: of times in play.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I mean I guess you could, but I'd find that unlikely.
- 3:57Speaker 2: So somebody in an email and right now I'm trying
- 4:01Speaker 2: to get to emails, but my computer doesn't work. The
- 4:04Speaker 2: keyboard doesn't work. But we'll deal with that later. Don't
- 4:07Speaker 2: worry Aboudye just looked up like one of those morments marmots.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Yeah, what, what's what's going on?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Nothing's working?
- 4:18Speaker 5: You know what? Hey, hey Beth, if you just keep
- 4:20Speaker 5: hitting the buttons, maybe they'll start working.
- 4:23Speaker 7: You don't say that.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Actually it was the keyboard. I knew it was all right, definitely,
- 4:30Speaker 2: Like listen, I want to I want to say this.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's this is based on nothing. I don't have any rumblings,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and some people might be even mad that I'm even
- 4:41Speaker 2: bringing it up. But what if, like this is a
- 4:45Speaker 2: contract thing, Like what if like no one neither side
- 4:49Speaker 2: is saying anything about it because they're both being you know,
- 4:53Speaker 2: good partners. But what if he's just like, you know what,
- 4:56Speaker 2: I'm looking for an extension here.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Well, he can't get an extent, can't the third year
- 5:01Speaker 5: and surgery's got too compared to be three years in.
- 5:05Speaker 2: So this is his third year, but it have to
- 5:07Speaker 2: be after his third correct.
- 5:08Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think you're speculation is not showing
- 5:12Speaker 5: it for next year. That there's a line of thought
- 5:14Speaker 5: that this is related to his contract and that he's
- 5:18Speaker 5: not going to get back out there. Not that he
- 5:20Speaker 5: injured himself as part of some sort of elaborate contract negotiation,
- 5:24Speaker 5: but the line of thought is that he's dealing with
- 5:28Speaker 5: a bad hamstring and he's not going to get back
- 5:30Speaker 5: on the field until he is one hundred ready to
- 5:32Speaker 5: get back on the field, with the thought being I
- 5:36Speaker 5: don't want to put anything less than my absolute best
- 5:39Speaker 5: out there. A lot of people felt like sauce Gardo
- 5:42Speaker 5: did a little of this last year with the Jets.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Didn't have as good a year last year because he
- 5:47Speaker 5: was trying to make sure his focus was to make
- 5:51Speaker 5: it through the season as healthy as he could to
- 5:55Speaker 5: better as Now, to me, that's kind of walked logic.
- 5:57Speaker 5: I'm not going to play as well as I can
- 5:59Speaker 5: because I want to cash in later in the year.
- 6:01Speaker 5: As you don't know, But he doesn't.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Want to put anything on tape that would say that. No,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I'm not at all pro.
- 6:06Speaker 5: It worked for him. It worked for Sauce Gardner. He
- 6:08Speaker 5: got a big contract despite I would say probably having
- 6:12Speaker 5: the third of his third best of his three seasons
- 6:15Speaker 5: in the league. But I don't necessarily buy it with Gonzo,
- 6:19Speaker 5: And I'll tell you why. I just think we've seen
- 6:23Speaker 5: too much of them. He's traveling to, you know, two
- 6:27Speaker 5: preseason trips that he didn't have to travel to. Like
- 6:29Speaker 5: he seems like he's really on board, really part of
- 6:32Speaker 5: the equation, you know. That kind of sounds like to
- 6:36Speaker 5: me an individual thing to do, you know, like I'm
- 6:39Speaker 5: going to protect myself here for with my contract in mind,
- 6:42Speaker 5: not necessarily on board with whatever the team's doing.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I mean, I suppose you could do it. The modern
- 6:47Speaker 2: agent is, you know, advising players on I'm not talking
- 6:52Speaker 2: about gods. I'm talking in general.
- 6:53Speaker 6: Now, I hope not because it's just it's stupid, and
- 6:55Speaker 6: it's you know, I just told him me think those
- 6:58Speaker 6: things come back and bite you in the butt.
- 6:59Speaker 7: You try to lay it out all perfectly, well.
- 7:01Speaker 6: I'm only going to go when I'm this, and you know,
- 7:04Speaker 6: ultimately you have to get ready for the season, and
- 7:05Speaker 6: the important thing would be to be out there if
- 7:07Speaker 6: you were able to. But to me, this reeks of
- 7:10Speaker 6: a hamstring injury that seemed like it was minor at first,
- 7:13Speaker 6: and it's lingered. And I think Paul's right to think
- 7:16Speaker 6: we want to get back to one for both the
- 7:18Speaker 6: team and for the player.
- 7:20Speaker 7: But it's hard for me to see him trying to
- 7:21Speaker 7: make a.
- 7:21Speaker 6: Power play now when he really only has one season
- 7:23Speaker 6: that he's actually played.
- 7:25Speaker 5: It reeks to me of, uh, just a setback. He
- 7:29Speaker 5: had to have had a setback. I think that's why
- 7:31Speaker 5: it's sort of changed, because everybody was really nothing to see, hear,
- 7:35Speaker 5: nothing to worry about it, and all all of a sudden,
- 7:37Speaker 5: say the last week ten days, everybody's like, geez, I
- 7:39Speaker 5: wonder if he's going to play in the opener.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they'll for it.
- 7:43Speaker 6: To your point, I would maybe bad money. He's gonna
- 7:45Speaker 6: be out there today, because why not, like, at least
- 7:48Speaker 6: you give him sorry that point, but at least put
- 7:50Speaker 6: the thought in their head. And and even if you
- 7:52Speaker 6: do make them strap on his shoulder pads for a minute,
- 7:55Speaker 6: hopefully he's at the point where keep him on. Let's
- 7:57Speaker 6: go do some conditioning after the mediately eves and we'll
- 8:00Speaker 6: do your work that way. But because if he's not
- 8:02Speaker 6: there today, then to me, that's oh, he's not playing.
- 8:05Speaker 7: He's not playing.
- 8:06Speaker 5: See I don't think he's playing Sunday. But I do
- 8:08Speaker 5: think there's a chance that he's out there today as
- 8:12Speaker 5: just regular part of getting back into practice. He has
- 8:15Speaker 5: to start practicing if he's ever going to get back
- 8:17Speaker 5: on the field.
- 8:17Speaker 2: You can pass.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Yeah, well, just in general, what he has not practiced,
- 8:22Speaker 5: even in the walkthroughs Fred, he hasn't taken part in
- 8:25Speaker 5: And Mike, you might know the answer to this. Mike,
- 8:30Speaker 5: we have seen him do some conditioning on the field
- 8:34Speaker 5: right in front of us.
- 8:35Speaker 2: We did it in Minnesota a little bit.
- 8:37Speaker 6: But I got to be honest, I don't really I
- 8:39Speaker 6: don't really remember it, to be honest, I.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Don't either, but everybody else is talking about it.
- 8:43Speaker 2: No, he was mooring up in Minnesota. You know, he
- 8:46Speaker 2: was out there doing you know, doing something, running around
- 8:50Speaker 2: and actually some sprints, and you know, then you'll wonder
- 8:53Speaker 2: if this something happened there.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Well, that's what I'm I think that there was some
- 8:57Speaker 5: sort of setback.
- 8:58Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe that's where it was.
- 9:00Speaker 5: But I don't know when or how. But I felt
- 9:02Speaker 5: like the way that Mike Vrabel answered the question on Monday,
- 9:05Speaker 5: where he sort of he started to say, yeah, he's
- 9:09Speaker 5: been out a little bit longer than we thought, but
- 9:11Speaker 5: he stopped short of saying that, yeah, it's been and
- 9:14Speaker 5: then he kind of went in a different direction. I
- 9:16Speaker 5: think he was trying. I think he was kind of
- 9:18Speaker 5: alluding to the fact that, yeah, there's been some bumps
- 9:22Speaker 5: along the way in this rehab process. But I do
- 9:24Speaker 5: think he's been rehabbing. I don't think this is Listen.
- 9:28Speaker 5: I don't want to say it has nothing to do
- 9:30Speaker 5: with contract, because let's face it, these guys and their
- 9:33Speaker 5: right to do it. They have to take care of themselves.
- 9:35Speaker 5: They're independent contractors, sure, right, So I don't want to
- 9:38Speaker 5: say has nothing to do with the contract. But I
- 9:40Speaker 5: don't think he's not practicing at all, because I'm not
- 9:42Speaker 5: going to practice until you know I'm one hundred percent,
- 9:45Speaker 5: you know, because I have to worry about my contract.
- 9:47Speaker 5: I don't think it's that blatant. And I really don't
- 9:49Speaker 5: think that was what Sauce Gardner did last year either,
- 9:52Speaker 5: although everybody says.
- 9:53Speaker 2: That, yeah, yeah, yeah, well, you know, traditionally, like you said,
- 9:56Speaker 2: if you're not here on Wednesday before the gaming, not
- 9:59Speaker 2: playing and speaking of traditions, football fans know that traditions matter,
- 10:04Speaker 2: turning moments together into something truly epic. There would inspire
- 10:08Speaker 2: us to make our masa in tostitos the traditional way,
- 10:12Speaker 2: starting with whole corn kernels, no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives,
- 10:17Speaker 2: all to give you that perfect crunch. Discover your next
- 10:20Speaker 2: tradition this football season. Head to the store, grab your
- 10:23Speaker 2: tostito's team bag and scan a code for a chance
- 10:27Speaker 2: to win and score an epic experience with the Patriots. Tostitos.
- 10:32Speaker 5: Tradition matters certainly does so. I enjoyed some tostitos on
- 10:38Speaker 5: Saturday while I was watching some college football ships myself.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Nothing better than myself.
- 10:43Speaker 5: And my empty nest I did I had. I had
- 10:46Speaker 5: some tostitos that I laid out on like a baking sheet.
- 10:50Speaker 2: You laid it out, Oh and you got to.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Put some some shredded cheese on it. Nachos and I
- 10:58Speaker 5: made nachos, okay with mystitos.
- 11:00Speaker 2: And when you when I when you just have like
- 11:02Speaker 2: cold tostitos, Yeah, with satzer sausa salsa, sausa salsa. Do
- 11:09Speaker 2: you get regular medium or hot?
- 11:12Speaker 5: I get the medium medium, I do. The hot is
- 11:15Speaker 5: just a little too hot. But I do like the
- 11:17Speaker 5: I like a little spical kick, like a little kick.
- 11:21Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:22Speaker 5: That was your tostitos minute, brought to you by Fred Kersh.
- 11:24Speaker 6: I had the chips saying I went to rest the
- 11:26Speaker 6: Mexican restaurant this weekend and we had they bring chips
- 11:28Speaker 6: to the table and then you fill up on the chips.
- 11:30Speaker 2: But I was also iron the nacho where, Yeah, isn't
- 11:33Speaker 2: that great? I went to the one Hyenna's under the
- 11:36Speaker 2: Big Tree, you know, so if you ever got their
- 11:40Speaker 2: their chowder lobster biss really with a kick.
- 11:45Speaker 6: Next Mexican really my you know, my wife California, and
- 11:49Speaker 6: she said, this is the best Mexican food I've had
- 11:52Speaker 6: in Massachusetts.
- 11:54Speaker 7: We went back there, Yeah, and yeah's good.
- 11:56Speaker 2: They have another one in Fouma Oh yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 7: Yea and a n e joh. The jay is silent,
- 12:02Speaker 7: much like our new Lineman Highness.
- 12:06Speaker 2: So anyway, all right, so there, so back to our discussion.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You call me back to our discussion. Yes, this will
- 12:14Speaker 2: be the first day of practice. They're going to be
- 12:16Speaker 2: in pads, everybody's going to be taking attendance. I'm sure
- 12:20Speaker 2: the tweets will be flying the moment practice starts and
- 12:24Speaker 2: who's there and who's not there.
- 12:26Speaker 5: I just was thinking, if you're in your scenario that
- 12:29Speaker 5: you threw out yesterday, and you know, like like you
- 12:31Speaker 5: like to say, now, Fred, you and I we have
- 12:33Speaker 5: long commutes. Yeah, we have a lot to think about.
- 12:36Speaker 5: And I started thinking, I'm like, what if Fred's right?
- 12:38Speaker 5: What if it's some sort of subterfuge, but not necessarily
- 12:43Speaker 5: the way we were talking about it yesterday. Maybe the opposite.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Maybe they're going to get him out there to make
- 12:47Speaker 5: the Raiders think he is going.
- 12:48Speaker 6: To play right right, there's a possibility I would at
- 12:52Speaker 6: least get him out there today and watch everybody go
- 12:55Speaker 6: crazy and.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Get Gonzo's back.
- 12:56Speaker 6: Gonzo's back, and even if he the second day leave,
- 12:59Speaker 6: he's down on the lower he'll just jogging around find
- 13:01Speaker 6: but at least put this possibility in.
- 13:03Speaker 2: There now, just so people know. Practice can be audited
- 13:08Speaker 2: by the league. So after every practice, every team has
- 13:14Speaker 2: to come out with their participation report. It's not an
- 13:17Speaker 2: injury report, it's a participation report. Did you fully participate,
- 13:20Speaker 2: did you partially participate, or did you not practice? So
- 13:25Speaker 2: if the Patriots aren't going to be able to say, oh,
- 13:27Speaker 2: he fully participated, if when the media leaves, they send
- 13:31Speaker 2: him to the other hill. So theoretically that practice report
- 13:35Speaker 2: that's going to come out today, first one of the season,
- 13:38Speaker 2: will give us an indication if he's out there, what
- 13:41Speaker 2: level did he participate?
- 13:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I think he'd be limited no matter what.
- 13:45Speaker 6: But also sets up for Friday. I mentioned it that
- 13:47Speaker 6: Brabel meets with us after practice, so if Gonzo's out there,
- 13:52Speaker 6: he'll give us some kind of insight into what might be.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So for this show, though, I'm going to be talking
- 13:57Speaker 2: about this game coming up as if he's not playing,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I'm just going to assume he's not playing. I would agree, friend, Yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 2: that's the way you you know, So anything I say, oh,
- 14:05Speaker 2: the Patriots have a chance to do this or that,
- 14:07Speaker 2: I'm assuming that it doesn't include Gonzo.
- 14:09Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think it's it's not the worst week
- 14:12Speaker 6: to not have your number one corner, But it's also
- 14:14Speaker 6: just thinking about Bowers and maybe thinking about putting a
- 14:18Speaker 6: corner on him. It's just it you're a little thinner.
- 14:20Speaker 6: Everything that gets not the passing league.
- 14:23Speaker 5: And it's never good not to have your best player availed.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Right, I mean, it's a significant part of the team.
- 14:28Speaker 5: But I would agree with you. Next week, you're going
- 14:31Speaker 5: down to South Florida to play the Dolphins and they
- 14:34Speaker 5: have when they're right a quarterback who loves to use
- 14:38Speaker 5: those two wide receivers. So not having him for that game,
- 14:42Speaker 5: to me, would be far more damaging than not having
- 14:44Speaker 5: him for the Raiders.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I do think that we touched on it yesterday. We
- 14:49Speaker 2: have to consider Jante in the passing game, and that's
- 14:53Speaker 2: a that's something that's a wildcard. We don't know how
- 14:56Speaker 2: good he's going to be in the NFL in that role,
- 15:00Speaker 2: but I think he's going to be good personally.
- 15:02Speaker 6: I think it's a perfect week one kind of thing
- 15:04Speaker 6: where just feed your what is he fifth overall pick?
- 15:07Speaker 7: You know, feed this guy.
- 15:08Speaker 6: I mean, that's what I would do. I mean, I
- 15:10Speaker 6: think the Patriots are probably gonna maybe lean. I think
- 15:12Speaker 6: they'll lean into the run generally speaking, but I think
- 15:14Speaker 6: they'll lean a little bit more into the run early on,
- 15:17Speaker 6: just get a feel for it. Hopefully they can hang
- 15:19Speaker 6: onto the ball, of course. But I would feed Genty, I.
- 15:22Speaker 7: Would use him to test everything that the Patriots are
- 15:24Speaker 7: going to do. Screen games, yeah, you know, quick game because.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Pino Smith isn't considered a mobile quarterback. He can run, Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 2: he's still I think he athletic enough, but you know,
- 15:33Speaker 2: he's not Josh Allen.
- 15:34Speaker 5: He's not going to run by design. He's going to
- 15:38Speaker 5: run as a scrambler. But I agree with Mike and
- 15:40Speaker 5: Mike and I both talked about this because we've already
- 15:42Speaker 5: taped our various show variot predictions. But I agree with
- 15:47Speaker 5: the mindset of both teams probably going to want to
- 15:50Speaker 5: run the ball. And I was really interested because I
- 15:52Speaker 5: would think that that kind of lent itself to a
- 15:55Speaker 5: you know, maybe low twenties kind of game at most.
- 16:00Speaker 5: And I was listening to Greg Bdard, Yes, and he
- 16:02Speaker 5: thinks it's going to be a shootout. He think it's
- 16:03Speaker 5: going to be a really high scoring game. He didn't
- 16:06Speaker 5: give a score, so I don't know what he said,
- 16:07Speaker 5: high scoring with both offenses because he doesn't think much
- 16:11Speaker 5: of the Raiders defense and he's a little concerned about
- 16:14Speaker 5: what he's seen so far from the Patriots defense. I'm
- 16:16Speaker 5: sure Gonzales the situation factors into that as well. I
- 16:21Speaker 5: just can't imagine that Pete Carroll doesn't want to use
- 16:23Speaker 5: his first first round pick and lean on him, like
- 16:27Speaker 5: Mike just said. And I'm pretty sure that Josh McDaniels
- 16:30Speaker 5: is going to want to do the same to help
- 16:32Speaker 5: out this young offensive line. You know that is generally
- 16:36Speaker 5: across the board, are all considered better run blockers than
- 16:39Speaker 5: pass blockers. Why wouldn't you want to try to establish
- 16:41Speaker 5: the run. I'd be surprised if the teams didn't at
- 16:45Speaker 5: least start the game conservatively.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you get prepared for the comparisons. So the Patriots
- 16:50Speaker 2: could have had Jenttey and then they still could have
- 16:52Speaker 2: had a left tackle.
- 16:53Speaker 7: You know, I told you I tried. Guys. Now, I'm
- 16:56Speaker 7: happy with Bill Campbell. The thing though, how.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Come you're the only one allowed to have arguments before
- 17:01Speaker 5: they happened.
- 17:01Speaker 2: That's already happened. But when I think I made that up.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It was on one of your shows.
- 17:07Speaker 5: But you just said, but you literally just say get
- 17:10Speaker 5: ready for people that say.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Genty like, I don't know they will.
- 17:15Speaker 5: He's not one to argue ahead of time when I
- 17:18Speaker 5: do it.
- 17:19Speaker 7: He knows what's coming.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Uh.
- 17:20Speaker 7: The thing was interesting me though. I talked to Paul
- 17:22Speaker 7: a little bit about it and we mentioned Patrick Graham,
- 17:24Speaker 7: but you know, he survived two regimes.
- 17:26Speaker 6: He was Josh's defensive coordinator. That guy's got a pretty
- 17:29Speaker 6: good beat on what Josh wants to do. I know,
- 17:32Speaker 6: I think it was David Andrews just spoke to Andrew Callahan.
- 17:36Speaker 6: I saw a clip of the podcast and David Andrews said,
- 17:39Speaker 6: Tennessee gave them a lot of problems in twenty eighteen
- 17:42Speaker 6: when Rabel beat the Patriots, and he said, because he
- 17:44Speaker 6: understood our protections, and you know, David Andrews did that
- 17:47Speaker 6: was kind of a nightmare game where we felt we
- 17:48Speaker 6: were a little bit in the blender one of the
- 17:50Speaker 6: few times with Brady and so I just I wonder
- 17:53Speaker 6: similar circumstances with Patrick Graham, who I mean, he was
- 17:56Speaker 6: Josh's defensive coordinator. He's been in that system, there for
- 17:59Speaker 6: two years now.
- 18:00Speaker 2: If you could put Brady in a blender, yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 6: Right, So, I mean he he obviously has a very
- 18:04Speaker 6: intimate understanding of Josh McDaniels and Josh McDaniels offense. So
- 18:09Speaker 6: I just wonder if how much that's going to come
- 18:11Speaker 6: into play. And we'll talk to Josh tomorrow. I think
- 18:14Speaker 6: it's a good question to ask him a little bit
- 18:15Speaker 6: about Patrick Graham and his influence on that defense.
- 18:18Speaker 7: And you know what's going on with the Raiders.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Are they trying to do what Pete Carroll wants to
- 18:22Speaker 6: do or are they trying to do what Patrick Graham's
- 18:24Speaker 6: kind of come up with the Patriots and game planning
- 18:26Speaker 6: and that kind of stuff.
- 18:27Speaker 7: So so many more unknowns I think.
- 18:29Speaker 2: With well, and Pete Carroll is no slouch himself when
- 18:33Speaker 2: it comes to defensive game planning. You know. That's how
- 18:36Speaker 2: he made his name in the NFL with the forty
- 18:39Speaker 2: nine ers and had one of the best defenses in
- 18:42Speaker 2: the league with the Seahawks. You know, you sure did.
- 18:45Speaker 6: Yeah, And I mean even I mean I saw with
- 18:46Speaker 6: USC in the college game when he was you know,
- 18:49Speaker 6: put putting pros left and right out of that program.
- 18:51Speaker 6: But yeah, It's just a lot of interesting matchups, and
- 18:55Speaker 6: there's always so many unknowns in Week one. But when
- 18:58Speaker 6: you have two new head coaches and Chip Kelly back
- 19:01Speaker 6: in the NFL, and there's just a lot.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Of different things going on with all the different stories.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Kelly's a real X factor too. I have no idea
- 19:08Speaker 5: what to expect from him offensively at all, and I'm
- 19:11Speaker 5: sure that the coaches are scrambling themselves, you know how
- 19:14Speaker 5: much what they saw in the summer with the preseason
- 19:17Speaker 5: games is an indication of what they're going to do.
- 19:19Speaker 5: It's a new quarterback in a new system, and Chip
- 19:22Speaker 5: Kelly hasn't even been in the NFL for a while,
- 19:25Speaker 5: so there's a lot of unknown there, you know. I
- 19:28Speaker 5: remember Bill used to always talk about the unknowns of
- 19:30Speaker 5: Week one are always enormous because you never really know
- 19:34Speaker 5: exactly what to expect. You add in the fact that
- 19:37Speaker 5: Chip Kelly was in college last year. I don't know
- 19:44Speaker 5: all of the key guys that you're talking about basically
- 19:46Speaker 5: are new, so I don't know how you have a
- 19:48Speaker 5: beat on what they might be bring.
- 19:50Speaker 2: You got to believe that in the NFL every team,
- 19:54Speaker 2: every team has somebody on the payroll who's a ten,
- 20:00Speaker 2: their schedule, opponents practices in the summer.
- 20:04Speaker 7: It happens a lot, and.
- 20:05Speaker 2: You know, you know, they're not out there with binoculars
- 20:07Speaker 2: or a notepad, but they're looking and they're you know,
- 20:10Speaker 2: just committing it to memory and then making a phone
- 20:13Speaker 2: call when they're done. Yeah, this is what I saw.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Don't you wouldn't you do that?
- 20:18Speaker 6: I would surely practices like ours where you just all.
- 20:23Speaker 2: The practices are like that. They're the only ones in the.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Past that charge with the Washington try to and then
- 20:29Speaker 5: and then by doing that, you have to allow the
- 20:33Speaker 5: scouts in.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Okay, So like anyone can walk into these practices and
- 20:39Speaker 2: I don't know, like Paul could walk in and his
- 20:42Speaker 2: blue shirt to the Raiders practice and they don't know
- 20:45Speaker 2: what he's doing. Well, you think he's a fan.
- 20:47Speaker 6: But the flip side of it, if you were here,
- 20:49Speaker 6: would you hire somebody to watch the stands and kind
- 20:52Speaker 6: of audit what's going on in the story.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Like I said, you're not sitting there with binoculars in
- 20:56Speaker 2: a notepad. I put them in a Raider shirt, make
- 20:58Speaker 2: them look like a fan and you're just watching with
- 21:01Speaker 2: everyone else. But you're watching with a keen eye for
- 21:05Speaker 2: what you're seeing and then you report back afterwards, like
- 21:09Speaker 2: a lot of these guys. Now, you can't believe every
- 21:11Speaker 2: team is not doing that.
- 21:13Speaker 7: Good question.
- 21:13Speaker 2: You only have to look at what eight opponents, right.
- 21:18Speaker 7: I mean definitely the ones that you know, how.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Many if you look at the what we played three
- 21:22Speaker 2: teams twice, so that's three so fourteen opponents? You know? Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 2: you only have to you only have to have like.
- 21:33Speaker 5: We only have eight games seventeen. But no, no, you
- 21:36Speaker 5: have to worry abody.
- 21:37Speaker 6: What would you if you were the Patriots doing would
- 21:39Speaker 6: you have to go to the Bills and Dolphins? You
- 21:40Speaker 6: already kind of know, and that seems an unnecessary risk?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Why not?
- 21:44Speaker 7: Yeah, everybody?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Why not?
- 21:45Speaker 5: I know, if you were here every day, what would
- 21:47Speaker 5: you if the raider? What would you think the Raiders
- 21:49Speaker 5: would have gleaned from being here every day?
- 21:51Speaker 3: Well?
- 21:51Speaker 7: The Patriots going to do I don't know, probably more
- 21:53Speaker 7: than we can tell. You know, they probably have.
- 21:56Speaker 2: They're looking at the stuff that we're not allowed to report, formations,
- 21:59Speaker 2: things like that. You know, I just would say we
- 22:02Speaker 2: were there, you know, play a grouping, Yeah, situational groupings.
- 22:07Speaker 5: I just feel like I kind of know that stuff.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:11Speaker 7: I mean, it's part of the question.
- 22:12Speaker 6: I think it's I mean, I don't know if it's
- 22:13Speaker 6: is the juice worth the squeeze that they are the
- 22:15Speaker 6: league telling them you can't do this?
- 22:17Speaker 7: Is there an unwritten rules, don't.
- 22:19Speaker 2: I'm sure there is an unwritten rule that it's not
- 22:22Speaker 2: good sportsmanship. But like I would do it, and I
- 22:27Speaker 2: think every team should do it. I don't think that
- 22:30Speaker 2: you should not do it.
- 22:31Speaker 6: I just would worry that everyone in the league knows
- 22:33Speaker 6: each other, and to put someone onto this task, they
- 22:36Speaker 6: would need to have a foundation of knowledge so they
- 22:38Speaker 6: understand what they're seeing.
- 22:39Speaker 7: What's important.
- 22:40Speaker 6: So it's hard to find somebody that nobody knows. And
- 22:44Speaker 6: just that chance that you know, want somebody on.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Well, that's a good part.
- 22:48Speaker 6: I know, this guy works with the colts out there.
- 22:52Speaker 2: You're doing a good point.
- 22:54Speaker 7: And he's got the you know, the mister McGoo glasses.
- 22:57Speaker 2: You have to have a certain level of knowledge, and
- 22:59Speaker 2: if you have that certain level of knowledge, people might
- 23:02Speaker 2: know you.
- 23:03Speaker 5: And yeah, my bigger point was I feel like for
- 23:06Speaker 5: the most part, the game plan oriented stuff doesn't happen
- 23:10Speaker 5: in training camp. It happens once the practice is.
- 23:14Speaker 2: You're not looking for what they're going to do against us,
- 23:16Speaker 2: but you're looking at in third down and short this
- 23:19Speaker 2: is the grouping that they're using.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Well, what about a joint practice, which I mean, is
- 23:22Speaker 6: that like is that a little bit more You're seeing
- 23:24Speaker 6: two teams maybe and not seeing game planning, but you
- 23:28Speaker 6: are everything a little bit closer to what reality is.
- 23:30Speaker 5: I get what Paul's saying though that I'm not saying
- 23:32Speaker 5: there's real value and it I didn't poo pooh Fred's theory.
- 23:36Speaker 5: I just I think in order to really know what
- 23:38Speaker 5: a team is going to do, yeah, yeah, I think
- 23:42Speaker 5: that's behind closed doors. I don't think teams are doing
- 23:44Speaker 5: exactly what they're going to do every you know what
- 23:46Speaker 5: I mean, right, But they're kind of hiding some of
- 23:48Speaker 5: that stuff knowing that the practices are open and that
- 23:51Speaker 5: fans are videoing and putting them on Twitter and whatnot.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll get we'll get what we need from thanks
- 23:56Speaker 6: to the fans that are putting the legals of them
- 23:59Speaker 6: on the internet.
- 24:00Speaker 7: But I I mean, I I I don't know.
- 24:03Speaker 6: I think that there probably are teams to do it though,
- 24:06Speaker 6: because as we know listen.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I wouldn't be doing That's why I didn't pooh poop
- 24:10Speaker 5: friends a whole theory. I wouldn't be surprised if teams
- 24:13Speaker 5: do it.
- 24:14Speaker 2: There's an old story about when the Raiders practice I
- 24:17Speaker 2: forget whether it was la or or Oakland. Their practice
- 24:20Speaker 2: field was surrounded by hills and there were houses on
- 24:23Speaker 2: the hills. And somebody was talking to Al Davis. Is
- 24:26Speaker 2: aren't you worried about like people being in those He goes,
- 24:29Speaker 2: I bought them. You bought the houses, so the Raiders
- 24:32Speaker 2: own them. You know, it sounds like some Davis. And
- 24:35Speaker 2: even here, you know, we've got the hotel. What's to
- 24:39Speaker 2: stop somebody from getting you know, the highest room? What's that? Oh? Okay,
- 24:45Speaker 2: let's go to Rabela.
- 24:49Speaker 8: That's what's been recording for seven minutes. I wonder if
- 24:52Speaker 8: there's anything good on there? Yeah, what do you guys
- 24:56Speaker 8: talk about it here? Before we get started?
- 25:00Speaker 9: I doubt that Mark has told me about your.
- 25:03Speaker 8: Podcast beautiful take advantage of it?
- 25:09Speaker 3: Teresa? Are sorry, Carol? Well, it happens right like that?
- 25:20Speaker 9: Can we are we expecting to have Christian out there?
- 25:24Speaker 3: And if you don't?
- 25:25Speaker 5: Uh?
- 25:26Speaker 3: Is it safe to say?
- 25:28Speaker 4: Who's who won't reveil.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Well, I wouldn't say that.
- 25:31Speaker 8: You know, well, he's continuing to work and he'll do
- 25:34Speaker 8: you know, some stuff on the side, but I you know,
- 25:36Speaker 8: I'm not gonna rule anybody out stays.
- 25:38Speaker 3: He just made an announcement about the injury report.
- 25:41Speaker 8: So well, we'll continue to work and treat and make
- 25:45Speaker 8: sure that we're doing everything and that we can to
- 25:48Speaker 8: help him, and he's doing everything he can to to
- 25:50Speaker 8: get back out on the field. That that's the only
- 25:52Speaker 8: update I have right now.
- 25:53Speaker 3: We won't see him today, or it didn't sound now,
- 25:57Speaker 3: didn't sound like it. He continue to avoid ir that possibility.
- 26:03Speaker 3: So no, he just won't be out there today. Mark. Uh,
- 26:06Speaker 3: you know, I can't tell you much other than that.
- 26:10Speaker 5: So how much does a guy.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Like him needs to practice before you feel comfortable blaing
- 26:14Speaker 2: in the game.
- 26:14Speaker 8: It won't be today, So I apologize, but you know
- 26:18Speaker 8: that's where it'll be. Like I mean, I do like
- 26:21Speaker 8: where he's at from an engagement standpoint.
- 26:24Speaker 3: We've been through this with other players.
- 26:25Speaker 8: And like where he's at from that standpoint in the meetings.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Locked in.
- 26:34Speaker 8: Falling along a practice which is difficult, which is difficult
- 26:38Speaker 8: to think that a player that's not in there can
- 26:41Speaker 8: follow along. I've been through that as a player and
- 26:44Speaker 8: a coach, and I think he's done a nice job
- 26:47Speaker 8: of being able to do that.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Quick.
- 26:51Speaker 7: Is it important for players to get to one hundred?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Is every player different?
- 26:55Speaker 8: Because well, every player, I mean, we don't. I don't
- 26:58Speaker 8: use percentages. Again, I'll remind you what we talked about
- 27:02Speaker 8: as far as when I try to make decisions about
- 27:06Speaker 8: players and returning.
- 27:09Speaker 3: One. Can can they make it worse?
- 27:11Speaker 10: One?
- 27:12Speaker 3: Can they to protect themselves?
- 27:13Speaker 8: We can all say what we want about this game,
- 27:16Speaker 8: but you know, I mean it's violent.
- 27:18Speaker 3: And can you protect yourself?
- 27:21Speaker 8: And can you do your job up to the standard
- 27:23Speaker 8: that we expect and that the that the player is
- 27:27Speaker 8: used to. So those are the things that I've tried
- 27:29Speaker 8: to use when making decisions. Maybe I'll add some to that,
- 27:34Speaker 8: but that's what I've tried to use in my other
- 27:36Speaker 8: experience in this position.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Like the initial reports, and I know that it didn't
- 27:40Speaker 2: come from you.
- 27:41Speaker 3: With the initial h I.
- 27:42Speaker 8: Mean, please, guys, I mean we we have this is
- 27:45Speaker 8: the first Wednesday of the season, and he's not going.
- 27:47Speaker 3: To be at practice, and I just please use your.
- 27:51Speaker 8: Time as efficiently as we can about our team about
- 27:55Speaker 8: the Raiders, and I know Christian is a large part
- 27:57Speaker 8: of our team, but he's not going to be out
- 27:59Speaker 8: there today.
- 28:00Speaker 3: So that's all I can update you with. Do have
- 28:03Speaker 3: anything else since I cut you off?
- 28:05Speaker 11: Yeah, well I got to read about the Raiders this week,
- 28:08Speaker 11: so yeah, I know one is always tricky, but the
- 28:11Speaker 11: fact that they bring in Geno.
- 28:13Speaker 5: They have ashen.
- 28:15Speaker 8: Terrific young skill players. I mean Brock Bauers plays like
- 28:18Speaker 8: a wide receiver. He's a willing blocker, gentee, powerful, fast,
- 28:26Speaker 8: continues to move his feet after contact, breaks a lot
- 28:29Speaker 8: of tackles, you know, speed on the outside, savviness with
- 28:34Speaker 8: Myers big physical offensive line.
- 28:37Speaker 3: So that'll be a challenge when you talk about that.
- 28:40Speaker 8: Gino really does a nice job of taking care of
- 28:44Speaker 8: the football or a very good completion percentage, so he
- 28:48Speaker 8: knows where he wants to go with football.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Like following that up a little bit during a first week,
- 28:53Speaker 2: how tough is it to get ready for opponent with
- 28:56Speaker 2: a first year coach?
- 28:56Speaker 3: Do you have to go back to what Pete has
- 28:58Speaker 3: done with other teams?
- 28:59Speaker 8: Well, I mean they have they have a first year
- 29:01Speaker 8: defensive coach with a coordinator that's been there and done stuff.
- 29:05Speaker 8: And then they have a new offensive coordinator who's been
- 29:08Speaker 8: in the NFL and has also come from the Ohio
- 29:11Speaker 8: State University. And so that's a pretty unique, i think,
- 29:17Speaker 8: blend of what we have to try to anticipate. We're
- 29:19Speaker 8: not going to be there's going to be numerous plays
- 29:21Speaker 8: in the game that we won't have seen or we
- 29:25Speaker 8: won't have run in practice in this preparation.
- 29:28Speaker 3: That's how it goes.
- 29:29Speaker 8: I mean, that's gonna be like that every week, but
- 29:32Speaker 8: just trying to get themes and concepts and ideas of
- 29:35Speaker 8: what they may want to do defensively with Pat and
- 29:43Speaker 8: Pete's style and scheme, and then what they may want
- 29:47Speaker 8: to do from offensively from what Chip's done in the
- 29:51Speaker 8: past in the NFL, for what he's done in college,
- 29:53Speaker 8: and what Gino likes. Certainly quarterbacks in this league, you know,
- 29:58Speaker 8: like things, and we'll get get things at it. So
- 30:00Speaker 8: I'm sure there'll be things that he's liked that that
- 30:03Speaker 8: they'll run from, from plays he liked in Seattle.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Carol that over.
- 30:08Speaker 9: While I think goes you pack ramp and see Josh
- 30:11Speaker 9: m Pana's offense a million times and being here Patriots
- 30:16Speaker 9: and Josh will also tap piece defense in different ways.
- 30:19Speaker 9: Walls playoff games becaust graphic defense. With the Chargers, do
- 30:24Speaker 9: you try and game out how they'll we act what
- 30:28Speaker 9: you're doing, et cetera.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Do you do well?
- 30:30Speaker 8: The one thing you don't want to be is too cute,
- 30:32Speaker 8: certainly in week one or at any time, and think, well,
- 30:36Speaker 8: they know and they think we're going to do this,
- 30:38Speaker 8: so that we're going to do this, And I mean
- 30:40Speaker 8: I think we have to you know, be really sound
- 30:43Speaker 8: and and use our rules and you know, if we
- 30:48Speaker 8: see something that that's new, you know, we have to
- 30:50Speaker 8: keep our composure and and keep our poise and and
- 30:54Speaker 8: figure out ways to make it work.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Season Les, did you say what person? Yes?
- 31:03Speaker 9: Just what did you see as the leaders?
- 31:06Speaker 8: I mean really by example, just his is the way
- 31:10Speaker 8: that his his practice habits his professionalism, I would say,
- 31:15Speaker 8: And then you know his performance on the field and
- 31:17Speaker 8: what he does and how he plays. So really like
- 31:21Speaker 8: being around Marcus, like the person who is he is
- 31:24Speaker 8: and the player that he is.
- 31:25Speaker 12: Like I know in Tennessee, you would identify three or
- 31:27Speaker 12: four things the team had to do for every game
- 31:30Speaker 12: in order to win. These kind of keys to what
- 31:32Speaker 12: now have you done that already this weekend? If so,
- 31:35Speaker 12: is that something you'll share with us?
- 31:37Speaker 8: Yes, we have, and know we won't. You know, you
- 31:42Speaker 8: don't want to get too convoluted and just try to
- 31:44Speaker 8: make sure that the players that are seeing it the
- 31:47Speaker 8: same way as we do. After all the film and
- 31:49Speaker 8: you know, things that we think are going to be
- 31:51Speaker 8: important this week and having been through it, It's not
- 31:55Speaker 8: like I want him to memorize and have to look down.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I wanted to understand how.
- 31:59Speaker 8: How they're in their position, what they can do to
- 32:02Speaker 8: help us execute those keys. And so it's not just
- 32:06Speaker 8: a blanket and broad statement. It's like, how does my
- 32:09Speaker 8: job as a left guard, or how does my job
- 32:11Speaker 8: as a you know, a safety or a nickel help
- 32:15Speaker 8: us execute these keys or what we're trying to get
- 32:18Speaker 8: done on special teams?
- 32:20Speaker 10: Erland known for his Color three defense and then ship
- 32:22Speaker 10: Kelly's kind of known for his up temple offense.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Is that sill theication and perspective?
- 32:26Speaker 3: And are there any ways that.
- 32:27Speaker 7: Those systems have evolved since you know less some of those.
- 32:29Speaker 8: Kinds of mo Yeah, man, they you know, Pete's done
- 32:32Speaker 8: it for a long time and you know they have
- 32:35Speaker 8: their adjustment. When you run something extensively or the majority
- 32:39Speaker 8: of the time, you have to have answers, right because
- 32:45Speaker 8: you know, you know that people are going to try
- 32:47Speaker 8: to scheme you, and you have to be able to
- 32:49Speaker 8: have answers. They've evolved and done a great job and
- 32:52Speaker 8: have answers and different ways to play things that they
- 32:54Speaker 8: want to do. And then they have their their changeups
- 32:58Speaker 8: and their mixers. And then certainly Chips offense has expanded
- 33:05Speaker 8: and grown. I mean Chip Chip used to call it
- 33:07Speaker 8: on an index card. It's seven plays and you know,
- 33:10Speaker 8: they just were really good at them and they went
- 33:12Speaker 8: really fast. And so I think that that's all evolved
- 33:16Speaker 8: from the stuff at U c l A, from stuff
- 33:18Speaker 8: at Ohio State to what he'll he'll do with you know,
- 33:22Speaker 8: those skilled players that we mentioned with with the Raiders
- 33:27Speaker 8: said on the team to a second half, Yeah, called
- 33:32Speaker 8: you a coach your players.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Out to reach that expectation.
- 33:35Speaker 8: Well, I think conditioning, I think an emphasis, I think
- 33:38Speaker 8: taking a break.
- 33:40Speaker 3: And that's a good question. I appreciate that.
- 33:42Speaker 8: And you know, we actually put a break in there
- 33:45Speaker 8: and at the midway through practice where we have two
- 33:47Speaker 8: team periods left, and I said, you know, you guys
- 33:50Speaker 8: are gonna think this is some gimmick, but it's gonna
- 33:52Speaker 8: be me saying, hey, coaches, get together, tell them listen,
- 33:55Speaker 8: this is.
- 33:56Speaker 3: What you know, it's how practice started. Whatever's going on.
- 33:58Speaker 8: Just be conscious here to a strong win the second half,
- 34:01Speaker 8: win the second half. And yeah, I think it's just
- 34:05Speaker 8: a good reminder and in working on our conditioning, like
- 34:08Speaker 8: regarding put.
- 34:09Speaker 2: The tempo play in the second half and the Chips
- 34:11Speaker 2: offensive style and fast.
- 34:14Speaker 8: Well, I mean it's not. I don't think it's as
- 34:16Speaker 8: breaking there and maybe it will be. I mean we'll see,
- 34:18Speaker 8: but I mean it I you know, I think it's
- 34:20Speaker 8: a little different than probably what it was and in Philadelphia.
- 34:23Speaker 8: And if it is, if you know, we'll have to
- 34:24Speaker 8: be ready for it. But go ahead, Okay.
- 34:26Speaker 3: In a way, it's it's the first full game. So
- 34:28Speaker 3: these guys are wanting to play this year or so
- 34:30Speaker 3: for more football in the ships year. How does it
- 34:32Speaker 3: affect substitution shoots? Everybody will have to play.
- 34:36Speaker 8: I mean everybody has to play every game and be
- 34:38Speaker 8: ready to play. And you know the ones that are
- 34:41Speaker 8: in condition and they are playing the way that we
- 34:43Speaker 8: uh expect them to, well, we'll stay in there. And
- 34:48Speaker 8: then when they're not, then they'll have to get a
- 34:49Speaker 8: break and put the next guy in there like we've
- 34:52Speaker 8: always done, might have a fast.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Out like they growth being cross.
- 35:03Speaker 7: Confident and that man who being ready to go the
- 35:06Speaker 7: girl for the top of the game.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Majority of the US. Yeah, I mean, I'm confident.
- 35:12Speaker 8: I think Mo's worked extremely hard and don't exactly what
- 35:16Speaker 8: we've asked them.
- 35:16Speaker 3: To do, and has been involved in a lot of
- 35:19Speaker 3: their reps. Sorry, go ahead full off season with him.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Just us.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Where has dream they sed up most off the field
- 35:27Speaker 5: to you?
- 35:29Speaker 3: Well, I think his command in the meetings. I think.
- 35:34Speaker 8: The reach to the locker room, the reach of the
- 35:35Speaker 8: players and stuff off the field, being engaged in that
- 35:39Speaker 8: way and knowing how important that particular position is, uh
- 35:43Speaker 8: in all three phases on special teams, and the impact
- 35:46Speaker 8: that that he can make as the quarterback.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Okay, that was Mike Vrabel Live. So I don't think
- 35:57Speaker 2: it's going to get out a little uh yeah, we're
- 35:59Speaker 2: not gonna again a subterfuge. He came right out and
- 36:02Speaker 2: said he's unpracticing today, so he's not playing. Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 7: Yeah, I liked he was echoing some of our talk
- 36:07Speaker 7: that we had earlier on the coaching staff and.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I sniffed in the middle of the press conference,
- 36:11Speaker 5: Mike and I just gave ourselves a little hat tip
- 36:13Speaker 5: to each to one another for all of our talk
- 36:15Speaker 5: about all the newness. Yeah, and Chip Kelly.
- 36:19Speaker 7: And a brand ensemble staffs of how it's the connections.
- 36:22Speaker 5: New coaches, a lot of unknowns the Ohio.
- 36:25Speaker 2: It's a good matchup. It's a good.
- 36:27Speaker 5: Week one matchup.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:29Speaker 5: You know two teams that struggled a year ago that
- 36:32Speaker 5: both figure they both think that they've improved and they're
- 36:35Speaker 5: going to get better with new coaching staffs. It's a
- 36:38Speaker 5: good week one matchup. I agree with Freddy.
- 36:39Speaker 2: I think the big difference is the Patriots are working
- 36:42Speaker 2: with a quarterback where they think Ope is the future.
- 36:45Speaker 2: That is a big difference, and they have a bridge
- 36:47Speaker 2: quarterback if you will.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that is a big difference.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:50Speaker 6: I think the Raiders rank higher on the all time
- 36:53Speaker 6: Patriots rivalry list than maybe people might acknowledge.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Just historically.
- 36:58Speaker 7: I think a lot of people know the two thousands
- 37:00Speaker 7: to one.
- 37:00Speaker 5: I have them very high on.
- 37:02Speaker 6: For teams the outside of the division, I don't really
- 37:06Speaker 6: know any.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Particularly if you go back to the seventies. As a fan,
- 37:10Speaker 2: you hated the Raiders, hated them. That's what I've been.
- 37:13Speaker 2: But but now it's like, you know, you know, it's
- 37:16Speaker 2: we kind of have the The big game is the
- 37:19Speaker 2: one that the Patriots won with the Raiders recently. You know,
- 37:22Speaker 2: so like I don't two thousand and one game, like
- 37:24Speaker 2: I could care less about it. I couldn't care less
- 37:26Speaker 2: about the Raiders.
- 37:27Speaker 5: It's two thousand and one recent, it's modern. I mean,
- 37:31Speaker 5: it's certainly more recent than any of the rais success
- 37:34Speaker 5: Patriots history.
- 37:35Speaker 2: You know, there's like the ancient Patriots history and the
- 37:38Speaker 2: modern Patriots history. And I don't think that the Raiders
- 37:41Speaker 2: are a big rival in the modern Patriots history.
- 37:45Speaker 5: No, it's the modern Patriots history. Who's the rival the Patriots?
- 37:50Speaker 2: Well, what was the Colts for a while?
- 37:52Speaker 5: Right now again you got to go back fifteen years.
- 37:54Speaker 7: Yeah, the Dolphins.
- 37:55Speaker 2: But right now, like you know, we launched our rivalry's
- 37:59Speaker 2: line of clothing last week, and the Jets was the
- 38:03Speaker 2: game that you know, the league chose as the rivals.
- 38:06Speaker 2: I don't know if the league or we chose it,
- 38:08Speaker 2: but it's hard to say. Who are the Patriots' rivals?
- 38:10Speaker 5: And I like that kind of stuff because it's subjective. Yeah,
- 38:13Speaker 5: you know. And for me, when I go back to
- 38:15Speaker 5: what Fred's talking about, the Raiders and the Steelers, I
- 38:18Speaker 5: hated in the seventies. I hated them, you know, because
- 38:21Speaker 5: they were good. I mean, it's it's obvious why, you know,
- 38:23Speaker 5: they were the good teams. And then you know, for
- 38:26Speaker 5: the division, it was Miami because the Patriots could never
- 38:29Speaker 5: beat Miami, especially in Miami. But then you know, once
- 38:34Speaker 5: the Patriots, you know, got the dynasty, it was the Colts.
- 38:39Speaker 5: The Colts and the Steelers, you know, will go back
- 38:41Speaker 5: and forth, you know, and you didn't necessarily think of
- 38:44Speaker 5: Miami in the same way because Miami wasn't really all
- 38:46Speaker 5: that good in the post Schula Marino years. Miami was
- 38:52Speaker 5: always a disappointment and it never really could get over
- 38:54Speaker 5: the hump.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Just I've been diving into, you know, doing a thing
- 38:57Speaker 6: for eighty five. But looking at the seventies, and you
- 38:59Speaker 6: had Sugabar Hamilton game in seventy six, then you had
- 39:02Speaker 6: you know, TERRYL. Stingley got paralyzed out there in the
- 39:05Speaker 6: pre season in seventy eight. They did have to go
- 39:08Speaker 6: back out there and win, but you know, then the
- 39:10Speaker 6: controversy between the ownership group and the Sullivans hating Al
- 39:14Speaker 6: Davis and them going back and forth. Eighty five, Patrick
- 39:18Speaker 6: Sullivan getting punch, which I got to talk to him about,
- 39:20Speaker 6: which was great. But yeah, and it was just like
- 39:22Speaker 6: all those things were percolating and then you had a
- 39:24Speaker 6: long gap and then O one happened. And I think
- 39:27Speaker 6: to a lot of fans, they look at that is
- 39:28Speaker 6: a little bit in a bubble, and I kind of
- 39:30Speaker 6: look at it differently.
- 39:31Speaker 7: Now really, having looked back at those seventies, they're just
- 39:34Speaker 7: how much there was and it was a win a
- 39:36Speaker 7: long period.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Look at it now, like, how do you look at it?
- 39:38Speaker 6: Like I said, like I brought it up, it's one
- 39:39Speaker 6: of their biggest historical rivals.
- 39:41Speaker 2: And even though there's you know, ebbs and flows to it.
- 39:43Speaker 6: Over the last forty fifty years, especially in the seventies,
- 39:47Speaker 6: like you guys said, and into the eighties, there was
- 39:49Speaker 6: you know, no rivalry bet bigger, and you know, to
- 39:51Speaker 6: go out there in eighty five and beat them, like
- 39:53Speaker 6: there was so much on that with guys like Steve
- 39:56Speaker 6: Nelson and you know that had been around for a
- 39:58Speaker 6: while that remembered those games in the seventies and you know,
- 40:01Speaker 6: still held a little bit of a grudge.
- 40:02Speaker 7: But I will say it's funny.
- 40:03Speaker 6: It's like we talk about the sugar Bear Hamilton thing
- 40:05Speaker 6: where it's like, now, like that's a penalty all day,
- 40:07Speaker 6: but you also see like penalties all day happening everywhere
- 40:11Speaker 6: on the field constantly during.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Those games, where it's like that's AsSalt what would be penalties?
- 40:17Speaker 7: Right, you guys getting.
- 40:18Speaker 2: So it's like one of those clothesline was like you
- 40:20Speaker 2: could I.
- 40:21Speaker 6: Know, I'm also reading I'm reading the you know, doctor
- 40:24Speaker 6: Z's got the Book of Modern Guide to Thinking.
- 40:26Speaker 7: Thinking Man's can't get an awesome book.
- 40:29Speaker 2: I mean, it's just so much.
- 40:30Speaker 7: Truth in it, written in the mid eighties about everything
- 40:33Speaker 7: that that we talk about.
- 40:35Speaker 6: But you know, he talked about the head slap and
- 40:37Speaker 6: when they got rid of the head slap and how
- 40:39Speaker 6: that was such a big thing for defensive lineman, like
- 40:41Speaker 6: you can't just give someone a right hook.
- 40:43Speaker 7: To the head anymore.
- 40:44Speaker 2: You know that that change and made it harder for
- 40:46Speaker 2: believing it wasn't just a slap. They they were talking
- 40:48Speaker 2: about you get a concussion.
- 40:53Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys following you know, everybody
- 40:56Speaker 5: has all kinds of different stuff that ends up, you know,
- 41:00Speaker 5: in their feeds on the various social media networks. This guy,
- 41:03Speaker 5: Kevin Gallagher, he does a lot of historical football clips,
- 41:07Speaker 5: which is as you guys would guess, right up my alley,
- 41:10Speaker 5: you know, I just I love this stuff. But earlier
- 41:14Speaker 5: this week there was an anniversary of the NFL sort
- 41:17Speaker 5: of modernizing the pass defense in terms of bump and run.
- 41:21Speaker 5: It was like the mel Blunt rule. Mel Blunt used
- 41:24Speaker 5: to kill guys all the way down the field, and
- 41:27Speaker 5: you can't do that anymore, you know, and.
- 41:29Speaker 2: You can't take someone's life anywhere.
- 41:31Speaker 5: But you look at it now, right and you'd be like, well, Jesus,
- 41:37Speaker 5: he touched him seven yards downfield, you can't. That's a
- 41:40Speaker 5: legal contact, right. Like back in the day there was
- 41:43Speaker 5: like literal physical contact between the cornerbacks and the receivers
- 41:47Speaker 5: all the way down the field. There was like bump
- 41:49Speaker 5: and run literally all the way down the field. And
- 41:52Speaker 5: they outlawed it. And like I think it was seventy eight,
- 41:55Speaker 5: you know, with the advent of the sixteen game schedule,
- 41:58Speaker 5: and that's why they were sort of there was a
- 42:00Speaker 5: whole bunch of rules changes and the schedule expanded from
- 42:03Speaker 5: fourteen to.
- 42:04Speaker 2: See now you were able to work receivers and if
- 42:06Speaker 2: you're working hard. Bront Workwear makes work boots and apparel
- 42:10Speaker 2: that are built for the job site and they're an
- 42:13Speaker 2: official sponsor of the Newland Patriots and Jillette Stadium Field Crew.
- 42:17Speaker 2: The gear is comfortable, durable, and named after the real
- 42:19Speaker 2: workers in the trades that help design them. You can
- 42:22Speaker 2: even try brunt out on the job and if it
- 42:24Speaker 2: doesn't blow you away, they'll let you send it back.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Save ten dollars on your first order at brontworkware dot com,
- 42:30Speaker 2: slash pats or with coupon code pats. So the other
- 42:36Speaker 2: thing I want to talk about this is an around ride.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Right you go run, you go run. Paul and Ile, well,
- 42:42Speaker 2: we'll take care of Yesterday, we're talking about the picks
- 42:49Speaker 2: contests or the picks that we do on Thursday, and
- 42:52Speaker 2: how do you get fans involved and all that. Of course,
- 42:55Speaker 2: immediately after the show, I got emails from fans, Oh
- 42:58Speaker 2: you should do this, you should do that. A couple
- 43:00Speaker 2: fans offered their services in creating an app or something
- 43:04Speaker 2: to do. There was one guy that yesterday said he
- 43:08Speaker 2: could write something, but it wouldn't be ready for next show.
- 43:11Speaker 2: I said, yeah, go ahead and start it. But since then,
- 43:15Speaker 2: Boston Cream has sent us something that he created, kind
- 43:19Speaker 2: of an app, and it'll be ready for next show.
- 43:22Speaker 2: So Mattic, can you hear me? Are you in there? Yeah?
- 43:25Speaker 2: So why don't we tell Tom who I told yesterday?
- 43:28Speaker 2: Go ahead and do that. Call the dogs off with him,
- 43:31Speaker 2: and let's use this thing with Boston Cream. So between
- 43:36Speaker 2: now and tomorrow, figure out how we can present that
- 43:39Speaker 2: to fans, tell them what to do and how it'll work, okay,
- 43:44Speaker 2: and then we'll incorporate it into the show tomorrow. So
- 43:47Speaker 2: this looks pretty good. I'm looking at it. Boston Cream
- 43:51Speaker 2: sent me some photo some shots of it.
- 43:57Speaker 5: All right, you guys got to turn your mics down there.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so we'll have something with that. I just wanted
- 44:03Speaker 2: to get Boston Cream. Let him know as soon as possible,
- 44:06Speaker 2: Let Tom know that he can stop writing his code.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Oh we have code. I don't know how he was
- 44:12Speaker 2: writing it in written.
- 44:13Speaker 5: So this is for the fans contest.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah, this is separate.
- 44:16Speaker 5: So I still have to do my sheet. Oh yeah, okay,
- 44:19Speaker 5: because I know, I know you like my sheets yeah,
- 44:21Speaker 5: I know, you still have to do your shoes like
- 44:23Speaker 5: to make fun of the dinosaur for right.
- 44:25Speaker 2: This is assumably the fans will go on this app
- 44:28Speaker 2: and they'll do their picks, and then on the next
- 44:31Speaker 2: show I'll use that to say, okay, you know, uh
- 44:34Speaker 2: so and so did the best Okay, yeah, and they'll
- 44:37Speaker 2: be like a leader board and all that.
- 44:39Speaker 5: I see what you're saying. Yeah, sounds good. Yep, sounds good.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Okay. What were you saying before? Nothing?
- 44:45Speaker 5: But we do have the opener tomorrow night, oh yeah,
- 44:48Speaker 5: which I'm really looking forward to the start of the season.
- 44:51Speaker 5: I have no real interest whatsoever in that game tomorrow night, though.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Who is it Philly in Dallas? Why not?
- 44:57Speaker 5: Because of exactly that? You know, my no hatred of
- 45:00Speaker 5: divisional games.
- 45:01Speaker 2: I know, but like these are two well at least
- 45:03Speaker 2: Philly is a team that should be a playoff contender.
- 45:06Speaker 2: And you want to see the state of the Cowboys
- 45:08Speaker 2: at all times, you know. Yeah, I guess is it
- 45:12Speaker 2: in Dallas or Philly?
- 45:14Speaker 5: I assume it's Philly. It's the NFL kickoff for the
- 45:18Speaker 5: Super Bowl champ I assume it's in Philly.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Yeah, I mean I'm.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Going to use you a theory of I'm just disappointed
- 45:27Speaker 5: with the whole Micah Parsons that like Dallas, like the
- 45:30Speaker 5: league is better if Dallas is good, and I know
- 45:32Speaker 5: that they're polarizing no matter what. You know, I don't
- 45:35Speaker 5: like the Cowboys. They put them with the Steelers in
- 45:37Speaker 5: the in the Raiders, right, you know for me from
- 45:41Speaker 5: my childhood. But I don't think they're going to be
- 45:44Speaker 5: overly good. I think they'll be better because Dak Prescott
- 45:47Speaker 5: will be healthy, but the defense certainly isn't going to
- 45:50Speaker 5: be as good. You know, we had a division matchup
- 45:53Speaker 5: Thursday night. We got a division matchup Friday night with
- 45:56Speaker 5: Kansas City and the Chargers.
- 45:57Speaker 2: That's in Brinilla, right, I don't even.
- 46:00Speaker 5: Know where it is. But like last year, I think
- 46:04Speaker 5: to hit a home run with Kansas City and Baltimore.
- 46:07Speaker 5: That's a great matchup that you don't get to see
- 46:09Speaker 5: every every year or all the time. You know, these
- 46:12Speaker 5: games that they love, the division games, they love them.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Well, there's more of them so they get more to
- 46:18Speaker 2: choose from.
- 46:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. I'm just I'll be watching. It's
- 46:22Speaker 5: the first game of the year, you know, be into it.
- 46:26Speaker 5: But I'll be surprised. If I stay with it, I'll.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Be asleep by halftime, I'm sure. But yeah, I'll be
- 46:31Speaker 2: watching absolutely you know NFL football, Paul, I can't beat
- 46:36Speaker 2: that product.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Now, I generally don't watch the Thursday night games, like
- 46:39Speaker 5: I know, you're a week to week too many, too
- 46:42Speaker 5: many of those odd odd time.
- 46:44Speaker 2: I've come to like the Amazon stream and you know
- 46:49Speaker 2: that whole present.
- 46:50Speaker 5: Well, that's the biggest reason why I don't watch the
- 46:51Speaker 5: Thursday night games, because I can't change the channel.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Yeah, right now, I hear that they've got to figure
- 46:56Speaker 2: that out. All right, let's get to the phone again.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Mike has just left for practice. Evan's already out there.
- 47:06Speaker 5: Then Mike has gone to.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Oh that's right, practice, so correct, they're both in the
- 47:13Speaker 2: locker room. Then they'll go out to practice. Then they'll
- 47:15Speaker 2: come back and people will be coming and going. So
- 47:18Speaker 2: we'll get to that. But in the meantime, let's let's
- 47:20Speaker 2: hear from you. Eight five five Pats five hundred is
- 47:24Speaker 2: the hot line. We'll start with Dante, who's in Delaware.
- 47:27Speaker 13: Hey Dante, Hey, good afternoon, guys. Hey, I'm looking forward
- 47:34Speaker 13: to Sunday, and I hope you all are as well
- 47:38Speaker 13: defense more specifically secondary would never worry in my mind
- 47:43Speaker 13: going into this season. But now I'm having second off.
- 47:46Speaker 13: What are your thoughts on the Peppers release? Do you
- 47:49Speaker 13: expect us to make another acquisition for our secondary? And
- 47:53Speaker 13: who do you see us using the not stop but
- 47:56Speaker 13: slow down? Brought Boers to Sunday.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Okay, so two questions. What we you know, we talked
- 48:02Speaker 2: extensively about Peppers yesterday.
- 48:05Speaker 5: I thought it was surprising. It's in a nutshell, I
- 48:07Speaker 5: thought it was a surprising move. You can certainly understand
- 48:11Speaker 5: Mike Vrabel trying to surround himself with as many of
- 48:15Speaker 5: his guys quote unquote as he can.
- 48:17Speaker 2: This is a guy who probably doesn't.
- 48:18Speaker 5: Figure to be part of the future at you know what,
- 48:21Speaker 5: year eight or nine. Now, at this point, I was
- 48:24Speaker 5: still surprised. I thought there was he was a starting
- 48:26Speaker 5: caliber player. They obviously thought differently. Maybe they're looking for
- 48:30Speaker 5: a little bit more youth and speed and range at
- 48:32Speaker 5: the back end of the safety spot. So that's what
- 48:34Speaker 5: we thought about Peppers.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and we think that they tried to move both
- 48:38Speaker 2: Peppers and Doug Art that both were available. Yeah, they
- 48:43Speaker 2: couldn't move either one of them. And they didn't want
- 48:45Speaker 2: to keep both of them.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Yeah, in terms of the secondary, I think their starting
- 48:50Speaker 5: corners in Gonzales and Davis are solid. I'm a little
- 48:53Speaker 5: bit more concerned about what's behind them with Marcus Jones
- 48:57Speaker 5: and Alex Austin and I guess DJ James now, So
- 49:01Speaker 5: I think that's a little bit of a thin spot.
- 49:03Speaker 5: They've made safety a little bit of a thin spot.
- 49:06Speaker 5: I think with their decision with Peppers, I don't know
- 49:09Speaker 5: what you're going to acquire at this stage that's going
- 49:11Speaker 5: to necessarily add significantly. I mean maybe if like there's
- 49:16Speaker 5: a veteran I think Stefan Gilmour is still available, but
- 49:18Speaker 5: I just don't think that makes any sense based on
- 49:21Speaker 5: the other moves that Vrabel's making. The guys they're acquiring
- 49:24Speaker 5: now are young guys that are you know, they're trying
- 49:27Speaker 5: to see if they're worth developing and what they're going
- 49:30Speaker 5: to do on Sunday with Brock Bowers. It's another part
- 49:33Speaker 5: of the newness that we just don't really know because
- 49:36Speaker 5: we've never seen Terrell Williams and this group of coaches
- 49:40Speaker 5: put together a game plan. I wouldn't be surprised to
- 49:43Speaker 5: see Carlton Davis heavily involved with Brock Bowers on Sunday
- 49:48Speaker 5: with some linebacker and safety bracketing kind of stuff. You know,
- 49:51Speaker 5: maybe Christian Ellis is a pretty mobile linebacker. Splaine is
- 49:55Speaker 5: a guy that moves around well, but you can't ask
- 49:58Speaker 5: linebackers and safeties to cover Brock.
- 50:00Speaker 2: If the Raiders had a true number one, in the
- 50:03Speaker 2: true sense of a receiver, that would that would create
- 50:06Speaker 2: a whole different set of problems. But I think because
- 50:09Speaker 2: they don't, they don't have that one guy that you
- 50:12Speaker 2: know is up the level of a Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase.
- 50:15Speaker 2: I think you can afford to put Carlton Davis on Bowers.
- 50:18Speaker 5: Well, I mean, it's pick your poison, and they have two
- 50:21Speaker 5: guys that are very similar goods Myers and Bowers. I
- 50:25Speaker 5: think that they probably feel Bowers is the more dangerous guy. Yeah,
- 50:29Speaker 5: and I think he'll get more attention.
- 50:31Speaker 2: As a result. Boston Cream's on the phone, so you
- 50:35Speaker 2: heard me talking about him? What's up, Boston Cream?
- 50:38Speaker 14: Yeah, Hey guys, Yeah, sorry, I missed most of the
- 50:40Speaker 14: conversation about after you mentioned that we're gonna go with
- 50:43Speaker 14: my methods. So if you don't mind, I'll just talk
- 50:45Speaker 14: about it first.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, give us a preview of how that's
- 50:48Speaker 2: gonna work for fans.
- 50:50Speaker 14: Okay, so anyone who's kind of familiar with fantasy football
- 50:53Speaker 14: knows the Sleeper app. I've just created a pick a
- 50:56Speaker 14: pool on Sleeper. I'll disseminate the link amongst my social spread, Paul,
- 51:02Speaker 14: everyone else. If you guys can possibly do the same,
- 51:06Speaker 14: that would be easy. Fans could just click the link.
- 51:09Speaker 14: They'll have to make a profile and download the app.
- 51:13Speaker 14: That's about as difficult as a guess each week and
- 51:16Speaker 14: go into the app, and you simply just pick which
- 51:19Speaker 14: team you think is going to win. I'm assuming we
- 51:21Speaker 14: just want to do a straight pick up, not spread.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Well, we want to do both. That's how we do it.
- 51:25Speaker 5: Well, we're doing it. But the fans can do whatever.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Oh, they can do whatever it wants. But it'd be
- 51:29Speaker 2: good to see how they do against the spread too.
- 51:32Speaker 7: Okay, I don't know.
- 51:34Speaker 5: That might be hard.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, that's right. So if you could choose, Paul,
- 51:38Speaker 2: what should you do? Spreader straight up? Straight up?
- 51:44Speaker 5: Okay for the fans, I all right, I just think
- 51:47Speaker 5: it's easier for it.
- 51:48Speaker 2: It is easier for him. It's easier for everybody.
- 51:50Speaker 5: But I think from a design standpoint.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Well that's true because their spread may not be the
- 51:55Speaker 2: same as ours. Yeah, so do it straight up? Good,
- 51:58Speaker 2: point yep, good.
- 52:00Speaker 14: And then on the app it's going to be really
- 52:02Speaker 14: nice for fans. You can actually see where people rank
- 52:06Speaker 14: each week, and there's an overall like leaderboard, this, that
- 52:10Speaker 14: and the other. It's very very simple. So I'm glad
- 52:13Speaker 14: you guys chose my method, but if you can help
- 52:16Speaker 14: me spread the word, that would be great.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Okay, So what we'll do is as soon as you
- 52:21Speaker 2: give the link to Matt Morrell, either in this show
- 52:25Speaker 2: or tomorrow show at the top of the show, well
- 52:28Speaker 2: we'll share the link so that you know, people can
- 52:31Speaker 2: download it and have it ready. You know, we have
- 52:34Speaker 2: to have a cutoff, right, Yeah, I'm sure the app
- 52:36Speaker 2: itself has its own cutoff for doing the picks.
- 52:40Speaker 14: Yes, it does, fret. The link is attached to the email.
- 52:44Speaker 2: All right, Well that's a Matt Morrel thing. He has
- 52:46Speaker 2: to take care of that.
- 52:48Speaker 5: Maybe he's giving a thumbs up else, got it?
- 52:50Speaker 2: Okay? Good, all right, Well thanks, thanks Boston Kream. Appreciate that.
- 52:55Speaker 14: No worries. I'm usually a menace but today I'll be
- 52:57Speaker 14: a helper.
- 52:58Speaker 2: All right, thanks, that's a lot all right, all right,
- 53:02Speaker 2: so we have a solution there.
- 53:04Speaker 5: Fans can can you know they can play along with
- 53:07Speaker 5: us on Thursdays?
- 53:08Speaker 3: Right?
- 53:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 53:09Speaker 7: Can?
- 53:09Speaker 5: They can have their their contests at the same time
- 53:12Speaker 5: and they'll see that It's not as easy as you think.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Yep. Another logistical question. This isn't about picks, Kristen, Chris
- 53:20Speaker 2: and Santa Fe says, just found out the closest fan
- 53:24Speaker 2: club to me is not really active anymore. How do
- 53:27Speaker 2: I go about starting a.
- 53:28Speaker 5: New one all of a sudden, that's the thing?
- 53:29Speaker 2: Now? Yeah, well I love it, so Chris, here's how
- 53:34Speaker 2: you start your club is up to you. If you
- 53:35Speaker 2: already have a group of fans, then you know that's great.
- 53:39Speaker 2: You have the beginnings of a fan club. But the
- 53:41Speaker 2: way it works on the fan club Registerryan Patriots dot
- 53:44Speaker 2: Com is you go there, you have to have a
- 53:48Speaker 2: minimum of ten members, and you share those the names
- 53:52Speaker 2: and emails of those members with us in an Excel
- 53:55Speaker 2: spreadsheet that you know, just email it and all the
- 53:59Speaker 2: instructions are in the registry. Once we verify that these
- 54:03Speaker 2: are real people and you didn't just make them up.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Then we'll register you, you know, and you have control
- 54:09Speaker 2: of the page from that point on. Once you create
- 54:12Speaker 2: an account, you can put up your logo, you can list,
- 54:15Speaker 2: you know, what bar that you meet at to watch
- 54:17Speaker 2: the game. You can list, you know, events that you're having.
- 54:21Speaker 2: A lot of our fan clubs have charitable events during
- 54:23Speaker 2: the season and they list you know when that's happening.
- 54:28Speaker 2: So you, as president of the club, you would register
- 54:31Speaker 2: yourself as the administrator. You have access, you have control
- 54:34Speaker 2: of the page. The only thing you can't change are
- 54:37Speaker 2: the names of the members. Those you have to request
- 54:40Speaker 2: us to change because we you know, we have to.
- 54:42Speaker 2: So what you do is, okay, I've added five members
- 54:45Speaker 2: three months from now to send us the new spreadsheet
- 54:48Speaker 2: and we'll verify it and upload that so that you know, uh,
- 54:54Speaker 2: you know, your your membership stays current. And then once
- 54:57Speaker 2: we do that, all your members will receive the newsletter
- 54:59Speaker 2: that goes out that we sent to all fan club members,
- 55:03Speaker 2: and you also get discounts and things like that. So
- 55:07Speaker 2: that's how you do it. You just have to get
- 55:09Speaker 2: ten a minimum of ten members, send it to us,
- 55:12Speaker 2: create your account on the fan club registry, and you're
- 55:15Speaker 2: off to the races.
- 55:17Speaker 5: So what happens if you only have like eight eight members?
- 55:20Speaker 5: Is that like a like a gang?
- 55:22Speaker 2: Yeah, not a club. Not a club. Yeah, it's gathering
- 55:26Speaker 2: a mini club. So you have to get two more members.
- 55:29Speaker 5: Yeah okay, and you can't just you just threaten people.
- 55:31Speaker 5: So you will join this club.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I'm not saying you have to, but if
- 55:36Speaker 2: you don't, you know, things could happen.
- 55:38Speaker 5: Rights, it's in your best interests.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Right, you wouldn't a fire go off in your your store,
- 55:44Speaker 2: you know.
- 55:45Speaker 5: Wow, you just took it to a dark place.
- 55:47Speaker 2: Sure, all right, so good good stuff. I like it.
- 55:52Speaker 2: We're taking care of some business here, speed rights in Samanta. Question,
- 55:58Speaker 2: at what point do you can clue a player is
- 56:01Speaker 2: officially injury prone? He puts in quotes, good one. Are
- 56:04Speaker 2: we there yet with Gonzo has That's a good one.
- 56:06Speaker 2: More of a finesse corner in college. So I wonder
- 56:09Speaker 2: if we're seeing the consequences of physicality in the NFL
- 56:12Speaker 2: for that kind of player.
- 56:13Speaker 5: So I would say that about this, A soft tissue
- 56:17Speaker 5: injury might be a little bit different. But I think
- 56:19Speaker 5: your larger point I think is worth talking about. I
- 56:24Speaker 5: don't know, well, when when do you have. Does a
- 56:27Speaker 5: guy go from Ah, it's too bad if you could
- 56:29Speaker 5: just stay healthy to be on now he's injury prone, right,
- 56:32Speaker 5: you know, I don't know, yep, And you know it's
- 56:35Speaker 5: it's an unfortunate thing.
- 56:37Speaker 2: A lot of people bristle at that term because they
- 56:39Speaker 2: just think it's bad luck.
- 56:40Speaker 5: Well, they also think you're kind of calling the guy soft, right,
- 56:43Speaker 5: And I'm not necessarily saying every guy that suffers a
- 56:45Speaker 5: lot of injuries is soft. Some are, right, but I'm
- 56:48Speaker 5: not necessarily saying all guys that are injury prone. You know,
- 56:51Speaker 5: Rob Grogkowski was injury prone. Yeah, but I don't think
- 56:53Speaker 5: anybody would call him a soft player, right, right, right?
- 56:56Speaker 2: He was just part of the reason he got injured
- 56:58Speaker 2: a lot is because he wasn't he didn't shy away
- 57:01Speaker 2: from contact. Travis writes in although it came at my expense,
- 57:06Speaker 2: I'd like to commend Pat in Agawam for being less
- 57:09Speaker 2: boring yesterday than he normally is. However, as usual as
- 57:13Speaker 2: contribution to the show fell flat. Although I routinely take
- 57:17Speaker 2: swipes at Pat's lack of intrigue and question why he's
- 57:21Speaker 2: a featured component of your show, I've never used a
- 57:25Speaker 2: nasty tone, nor stooped to name calling like he did yesterday.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Most would agree that my email about Dion Lewis was
- 57:32Speaker 2: more thought provoking than Pat's tedious Super Bowl prediction that
- 57:36Speaker 2: no one cares about during what he called Vikings coach
- 57:39Speaker 2: McConnell instead of O'Connell. Following up, I think averaging fifteen
- 57:44Speaker 2: touches per game is a lot harder to achieve than
- 57:47Speaker 2: you're making it out to be. More Travis, more Christian,
- 57:50Speaker 2: more eldrit less pat. So we were talking about how
- 57:54Speaker 2: many touches Henderson might have.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Yeah, and I listen, game scripts can vary, you know,
- 58:01Speaker 5: we know that sometimes the game's gonna declare in a
- 58:05Speaker 5: different way and you're not going to be able to
- 58:07Speaker 5: do everything that you want to do. This is not
- 58:10Speaker 5: a steadfast you have to get them fifteen touches every game.
- 58:14Speaker 5: But I'd be surprised if the Patriots don't look at
- 58:16Speaker 5: this and Josh McDaniels, you know, and we want to
- 58:20Speaker 5: get Henderson involved every game if we can somewhere between
- 58:25Speaker 5: ten and fifteen touches. We don't want him to run down.
- 58:27Speaker 5: We don't want to give him fifteen seventeen carries between
- 58:31Speaker 5: the tackles every game. But you know, and touches also,
- 58:34Speaker 5: you know that can be you know, a kickoff return, yep,
- 58:39Speaker 5: you know, And I think that what you actually you
- 58:43Speaker 5: how you quantify it too. It's not even just touches.
- 58:45Speaker 5: Sometimes it's targets.
- 58:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 58:47Speaker 5: You might get them five or six carries, and you
- 58:50Speaker 5: might throw the ball in his direction five or six times,
- 58:52Speaker 5: and all of a sudden, that's how you get the
- 58:54Speaker 5: twelve you know, combined. But I get what he's saying.
- 58:59Speaker 5: You can't necessarily control that every week. Sometimes the game
- 59:03Speaker 5: gets out of hand and you're not able to do
- 59:04Speaker 5: what you want to do.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 59:06Speaker 5: You know, if you fall behind, maybe you're throwing more
- 59:08Speaker 5: passes to Henderson, he's getting all the touches. Maybe you
- 59:11Speaker 5: get a big lead and you want to run the
- 59:12Speaker 5: ball the whole second half, and Henderson's really not as
- 59:14Speaker 5: big a part of.
- 59:15Speaker 2: That, right, right, right, yep. I have to do another
- 59:21Speaker 2: read here. We did this before, but they wanted me
- 59:25Speaker 2: to remind people that traditions matter for football fans, turning

- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Continue to progress in your offense?
- 1:02:21Speaker 16: So just you know, where do you see him at
- 1:02:22Speaker 16: at this point?
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:02:24Speaker 17: I think we make progress every day.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: You know, he's done a lot of good things.
- 1:02:30Speaker 17: And then, to me, the greatest part about training camp
- 1:02:33Speaker 17: is you have an opportunity to see different things, experience
- 1:02:37Speaker 17: things you've never experienced, either with the group that you're
- 1:02:40Speaker 17: out there with or within our own system against different defenses.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: Our defense Washington, Minnesota this.
- 1:02:47Speaker 17: Week, and all of those to me are super valuable
- 1:02:51Speaker 17: for us in terms of his growth in the system
- 1:02:54Speaker 17: and our offenses growth together. So just to encourage by
- 1:02:59Speaker 17: what we're doing every day. I really like the trajectory
- 1:03:02Speaker 17: that we're on.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: What's the learning to it good like for him?
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: You know, it's obviously work in progress.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: But yeah, you need to go about it.
- 1:03:08Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean he he works extremely hard every day
- 1:03:11Speaker 17: to be prepared for each practice. And he's a quick learner,
- 1:03:16Speaker 17: that's for sure. And the biggest thing we've tried to
- 1:03:18Speaker 17: talk about since we got to get on the grass
- 1:03:21Speaker 17: in the spring is to try to limit the number
- 1:03:24Speaker 17: of repeat airrors.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: You know, if we if we make an air that's
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: that's not a bad.
- 1:03:29Speaker 17: Thing, that's a good thing as long as we learn
- 1:03:31Speaker 17: from it and don't repeat it again. So he's pretty
- 1:03:34Speaker 17: quick study in that regard. He's got a great memory.
- 1:03:37Speaker 17: You know, sometimes when football things happen one day and
- 1:03:39Speaker 17: they might not happen again for two three weeks, but
- 1:03:43Speaker 17: you know, you still got to try to process that
- 1:03:45Speaker 17: in the moment and do it when it's when it counts.
- 1:03:48Speaker 17: So just again excited about him the whole group in
- 1:03:52Speaker 17: terms of their willingness to learn from their mistakes and
- 1:03:55Speaker 17: then come out and get better the next day.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: To what these guys can.
- 1:04:00Speaker 9: You mapped it out and trapped it out, and now
- 1:04:03Speaker 9: you've seen whether or not courts you wanting process.
- 1:04:06Speaker 17: Yeah, I think so, And I think that will probably
- 1:04:09Speaker 17: continue to go on through training camp and then usually
- 1:04:13Speaker 17: that's gonna probably. Uh, the evolution of what you do
- 1:04:16Speaker 17: with these guys will continue during the season, especially the
- 1:04:19Speaker 17: first year together. And so I think we've uh, you know,
- 1:04:23Speaker 17: like today we're trying some new things with different people,
- 1:04:26Speaker 17: you know, and now that we have a better understanding
- 1:04:29Speaker 17: of each guy's skill set, how much they can process,
- 1:04:33Speaker 17: who can play multiple positions, the types of things that
- 1:04:36Speaker 17: they do well on first and second down maybe different
- 1:04:39Speaker 17: than what they do well on third down in the
- 1:04:42Speaker 17: red zone, same thing. So we're just we're really trying
- 1:04:45Speaker 17: to hone in on what they do well and what
- 1:04:46Speaker 17: they do best, and then continue to try to grow
- 1:04:49Speaker 17: and build from there.
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: Josh quarterback Drake obviously have a lot of technician ability
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: out without position to sort.
- 1:04:56Speaker 14: Of proven some with that fine line WHI playing.
- 1:05:00Speaker 12: The hero by damn just sort of quite another building.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Is that a tough to sort of straddle?
- 1:05:08Speaker 17: Hopefully it won't be a tough line to straddle. I
- 1:05:11Speaker 17: think he's still learning, you know, all of those things.
- 1:05:14Speaker 17: You know, he's like, you know, he's such a gifted athlete,
- 1:05:19Speaker 17: and I think you know a lot of guys that
- 1:05:22Speaker 17: play this position that have ability to throw it but
- 1:05:25Speaker 17: also to move and make place with their legs and
- 1:05:28Speaker 17: extend plays. Uh, they have to find that line themselves. Honestly,
- 1:05:33Speaker 17: we can tell them all we want, you know, don't
- 1:05:35Speaker 17: make a bad play, you know what I mean. And
- 1:05:37Speaker 17: I'm gonna be the first one in the end zone
- 1:05:39Speaker 17: when he extends a play. And you know, we all
- 1:05:42Speaker 17: saw the one to pop, you know, early in training camp,
- 1:05:44Speaker 17: and you know, if I was telling him to throw
- 1:05:46Speaker 17: that away, I'd have been pissed at myself, you know
- 1:05:48Speaker 17: what I mean. So I think you know he's I
- 1:05:51Speaker 17: would say this, He's definitely more aware as we go
- 1:05:54Speaker 17: into this training camp and the next practice and all that.
- 1:05:57Speaker 17: You saw him slide a couple of times the other night,
- 1:05:59Speaker 17: which was great. So again there's a there's a fine
- 1:06:02Speaker 17: line between holding onto the ball too long in certain
- 1:06:05Speaker 17: situations and then doing the right thing to help the team.
- 1:06:08Speaker 17: And those of those guys that were blessed with that ability,
- 1:06:13Speaker 17: they're the ones that have to go out there and
- 1:06:14Speaker 17: learn how to do that and balance it the.
- 1:06:16Speaker 16: Way he was able to create this Like last year,
- 1:06:18Speaker 16: dropped was a real threat for that offense. Do you
- 1:06:21Speaker 16: have like a number in mind for you or Mike
- 1:06:25Speaker 16: or both that like, okay, we don't want to see
- 1:06:27Speaker 16: this in terms of carries for him, because then we
- 1:06:28Speaker 16: might be asking for trouble.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, I mean, we don't have that.
- 1:06:32Speaker 17: We haven't talked about that, but I think you know,
- 1:06:34Speaker 17: he had four hundred and some yards rushing last year
- 1:06:37Speaker 17: on no designed runs, you know. So I think the
- 1:06:40Speaker 17: reality is is, you know, those loose plays are hard
- 1:06:43Speaker 17: to predict when they're going to come up. You know,
- 1:06:45Speaker 17: like the other night, we didn't call a pass play
- 1:06:48Speaker 17: for him to scramble for a first down, but he
- 1:06:49Speaker 17: did and it was a good play. So I think
- 1:06:52Speaker 17: he just has to understand when there's nothing there and
- 1:06:55Speaker 17: he has an opening, you know, what to do with
- 1:06:57Speaker 17: the ball. I think he's really improven in that area
- 1:06:59Speaker 17: and understanding his value to the team is when he's healthy.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: And so I think that's what we're all talking about.
- 1:07:05Speaker 17: So h players that have the ability to do both, Uh,
- 1:07:08Speaker 17: they have to be smart about it because when coach
- 1:07:12Speaker 17: ray Ba always says, you know, we're going to protect
- 1:07:13Speaker 17: the team, you know what I mean? And whether that
- 1:07:15Speaker 17: you play running back and you protect the ball, or
- 1:07:18Speaker 17: you make a great decision off the field, or you're
- 1:07:20Speaker 17: the quarterback and you scramble and you decide to slide.
- 1:07:23Speaker 17: You know, all of those things are protecting the team,
- 1:07:25Speaker 17: and so I think Drake is definitively looking to try
- 1:07:30Speaker 17: to do that.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: You know, every time he has the ball in his hands, what.
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: Are your thoughts on it and running it context their mind?
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: Because yeah, I've never done it, doesn't mean that I
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: wouldn't do it.
- 1:07:50Speaker 17: I think it depends on if you feel like you
- 1:07:52Speaker 17: need that to gain additional inertia and move the ball forward. Obviously,
- 1:07:59Speaker 17: the Eagles are exceptional at it and have been for
- 1:08:02Speaker 17: a few years now. I don't dislike to play again.
- 1:08:06Speaker 17: I think each team is probably gonna make their own decision.
- 1:08:10Speaker 17: One thing I think it is is it's not an
- 1:08:11Speaker 17: easy play to practice in full pads and get good
- 1:08:15Speaker 17: at because we're obviously not going to create a bunch
- 1:08:17Speaker 17: of scrums on the practice field with our own defense,
- 1:08:20Speaker 17: you know, and risk injuries and those kind of things.
- 1:08:22Speaker 17: So you're gonna have to find creative ways to do
- 1:08:25Speaker 17: that if you're gonna do it. And I'm sure defending
- 1:08:27Speaker 17: it is much the same conversation. You know, how do
- 1:08:30Speaker 17: we defend this if we're not allowed to dive at
- 1:08:32Speaker 17: the center's legs and you know what I mean, all
- 1:08:34Speaker 17: the things that defenses try to do to stop it.
- 1:08:36Speaker 17: So you know, we'll look at everything that may help
- 1:08:39Speaker 17: our team win, and you know, certainly Rapes will make
- 1:08:42Speaker 17: the final decision on things like that.
- 1:08:45Speaker 10: Like you've been asked this before, but when it comes
- 1:08:46Speaker 10: to the risk reward nature of Drake's game, specifically when
- 1:08:49Speaker 10: it comes to extending plays, is there anything you found
- 1:08:52Speaker 10: yourself having to do differently as a coach, knowing you've
- 1:08:54Speaker 10: coached a lot of quarterbacks, but perhaps not one with
- 1:08:56Speaker 10: this particular skill.
- 1:08:59Speaker 17: Not really, because I think you as a coach, you
- 1:09:02Speaker 17: have to you have to coach each play as if
- 1:09:06Speaker 17: they're not going to run past the quarterback and give
- 1:09:08Speaker 17: him a lane to take off and run with the ball.
- 1:09:11Speaker 17: I think that's kind of a happening, if you know
- 1:09:13Speaker 17: what I mean. It's you know, you you happen to
- 1:09:16Speaker 17: It's like a hole in one in golf, you know
- 1:09:18Speaker 17: what I mean. Like none of us are hitting it
- 1:09:20Speaker 17: to go in the hole, but sometimes I haven't never
- 1:09:22Speaker 17: done it, but every once in a while to go
- 1:09:24Speaker 17: in and you'll go, wow, that was great, you know
- 1:09:25Speaker 17: what I mean. So I think to me, when he scrambles,
- 1:09:28Speaker 17: hopefully it's under the right circumstances. I thought you saw
- 1:09:31Speaker 17: him the other night and a few of those things
- 1:09:33Speaker 17: hang in the pocket and do the right thing, you know.
- 1:09:35Speaker 17: So we have to coach as if the defense is
- 1:09:37Speaker 17: going to play good defense, and we're going to need
- 1:09:40Speaker 17: to maintain our posture as a pastor passer and and
- 1:09:43Speaker 17: try to find the open receivers, which I think he's
- 1:09:45Speaker 17: done a great job of. And again in training camp,
- 1:09:47Speaker 17: it's hard to simulate those things because you know, we
- 1:09:50Speaker 17: don't run with the ball a whole lot, you know,
- 1:09:52Speaker 17: and scramble and all the rest of it.
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: So we'll see. It'll be a work in progress during
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: the season.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Josh, you're curious.
- 1:09:58Speaker 18: Sure, I know he's touched up with some more of
- 1:09:59Speaker 18: us special teams.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: To play, but just what kind of like what did
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: you we count that as an offensive?
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: What did you see on that play? And just what
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: kind of like riot weapon?
- 1:10:08Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean it's uh. I think everybody sees Trevion
- 1:10:12Speaker 17: the same way. You know, he's first of all, he's
- 1:10:14Speaker 17: a tremendous kid, awesome individual, really hard worker, smart kid,
- 1:10:21Speaker 17: can process a lot of information, which allows you as
- 1:10:24Speaker 17: a coach to try to use him in the ways
- 1:10:26Speaker 17: that he should be used. Explosive, you know, I think
- 1:10:29Speaker 17: we all saw that the other night, and tough physical.
- 1:10:33Speaker 17: So I have many negatives to say about Trey, you know,
- 1:10:37Speaker 17: but excited to coach him.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: He he.
- 1:10:40Speaker 17: We've had some really good players with skill sets that
- 1:10:44Speaker 17: are somewhat like his, Maybe nobody quite as fast as
- 1:10:47Speaker 17: you know, Ververeen was probably the fast. Him and Danny
- 1:10:49Speaker 17: Woodhead were fast, but Travion's fast fast.
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: So excited to be with him at all, Like.
- 1:10:57Speaker 17: Yeah, we've seen he's seen plenty and and now he's
- 1:11:00Speaker 17: putting it on tape too. So we use a lot
- 1:11:02Speaker 17: of practice film to review what we what we can
- 1:11:04Speaker 17: do better, and you know, obviously we have some things
- 1:11:07Speaker 17: we can use from the past, but certainly trying to
- 1:11:10Speaker 17: get these guys to do with their own selves, like
- 1:11:12Speaker 17: rule changes the.
- 1:11:12Speaker 16: Cup blocks and made screens a little bit more difficult
- 1:11:14Speaker 16: to run the beaty, what's the key to being able
- 1:11:16Speaker 16: to practice?
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: And next screed goes to a highway.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: I think you needed practice them at full speed.
- 1:11:21Speaker 17: So whether it's in a joint practice or some type
- 1:11:23Speaker 17: of a scrimmage situation, I think those are always good.
- 1:11:27Speaker 17: And then you know, we called a few in the
- 1:11:28Speaker 17: game the other night just to it's hard to it's
- 1:11:31Speaker 17: hard to simulate that in shells without a full speed
- 1:11:34Speaker 17: rush and all the rest of it. When the when
- 1:11:36Speaker 17: the rushers have to pull off the quarterback, you know,
- 1:11:38Speaker 17: it's not the same. So I think, you know, as
- 1:11:42Speaker 17: many of those as we can practice and work on,
- 1:11:44Speaker 17: I think that's the best situations. Hopefully we can run
- 1:11:47Speaker 17: a few here this week against Minnesota, see how they go,
- 1:11:50Speaker 17: but coaching off of them, and then when we get
- 1:11:52Speaker 17: to the regular season, obviously we'll have an opportunity to
- 1:11:54Speaker 17: do it against real competition each week and hopefully we
- 1:11:57Speaker 17: know what we're trying to get out of the play.
- 1:11:59Speaker 17: The lack of cutting and all that, I mean, it
- 1:12:01Speaker 17: kind of goes both ways. You know, they're not allowed
- 1:12:03Speaker 17: to cut us on tosses and all that. We're not
- 1:12:05Speaker 17: allowed to cut them on screen, So you know, it
- 1:12:08Speaker 17: even out. It evens out at the end.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: Two rookies on the left side. I think our good
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: friend Mike Release had a stat hasn't been done in
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: twenty five years to.
- 1:12:16Speaker 7: Start the season.
- 1:12:17Speaker 8: What is giving you the confidence that those two guys
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: can handle what it's about to come their way now.
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: I think you know, the way they work every day
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: certainly is.
- 1:12:29Speaker 17: That's where it's where it starts, you know, and their performance,
- 1:12:31Speaker 17: you know, they've earned that right.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: This isn't something that somebody just you know, said well,
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: it's going.
- 1:12:37Speaker 17: To do that without watching them in practice and evaluating
- 1:12:39Speaker 17: what's best for the team. So, you know, I think
- 1:12:43Speaker 17: certainly Mike has the that makes those decisions, and we're
- 1:12:48Speaker 17: all here to try to support the guys that are
- 1:12:50Speaker 17: in there and try to improve their their skill set
- 1:12:53Speaker 17: each day.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: But I think they've performed admirably.
- 1:12:56Speaker 17: There's going to be some things they're going to learn
- 1:12:57Speaker 17: throughout the course of every game, every practice, and our
- 1:13:01Speaker 17: job is to help them improve.
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: And so, uh that's what we're gonna do.
- 1:13:04Speaker 17: Uh We're not gonna get frustrated with a mistake here
- 1:13:07Speaker 17: or there, and we're going to make sure that we
- 1:13:09Speaker 17: try to do everything we can to help them get better.
- 1:13:11Speaker 17: And uh, so far, those guys have made progress steadily
- 1:13:14Speaker 17: throughout the course of their time here.
- 1:13:15Speaker 10: Josh Square Bradbury shared yesterday that you guys are gonna
- 1:13:18Speaker 10: game playing a little bit for Flow because he's seeing
- 1:13:20Speaker 10: other teams come in against flow.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: It's just his work was disaster.
- 1:13:24Speaker 10: Just what specifically with the way Brian runs his defense
- 1:13:27Speaker 10: his way to most benefit.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: You guys this week, I feel like you just jinxed
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: me and here.
- 1:13:34Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean we're gonna see a lot of different things,
- 1:13:36Speaker 17: you know. So we've we've I think we've seen a
- 1:13:38Speaker 17: lot from our defense here, which has been great work
- 1:13:41Speaker 17: for us. But I also you know, this is going
- 1:13:44Speaker 17: to be a new They'll align in different spots. Uh,
- 1:13:47Speaker 17: they'll pressure us in different ways that that maybe our
- 1:13:50Speaker 17: defense hasn't yet, And it's just it's just great to
- 1:13:53Speaker 17: go up there and get tested. What happens in these
- 1:13:56Speaker 17: practices is your rule. You find out how well you
- 1:13:58Speaker 17: know your rules, because you can't anticipate everything. We're not
- 1:14:01Speaker 17: going to have, you know, three days of meetings and
- 1:14:04Speaker 17: three practices Wednesday, Thursday, Friday to get ready to play them.
- 1:14:08Speaker 17: So we're gonna have hopefully a heck of a work
- 1:14:10Speaker 17: day today and then get ready to meet on them
- 1:14:13Speaker 17: a little bit later today and tomorrow, and then go
- 1:14:15Speaker 17: up there and let it rip on Wednesday. And I'm
- 1:14:18Speaker 17: sure we're gonna learn a lot. There's gonna be some mistakes.
- 1:14:20Speaker 17: They're almost always is both ways when you have a
- 1:14:23Speaker 17: joint practice. And hopefully it's similar to what we just
- 1:14:26Speaker 17: experienced with Washington, which is.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: A great, great day of work. Hopefully a couple of
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: days up in Minnesota. Josh, thank you, yep, thanks and
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: now great moments in.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: History. Eric and Paul show a feeling for the league.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Jacksonville wins this game. They do, in fact, get that
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: I took the Houston points.
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: What about the cover? I took the three and a
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: half Jacksonville by three and a half. Yeah, you took Jacksonville,
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: so you want the point, you lay in the points?
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: You beleeve? This gonna They're gonna win by more. He's
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: winnings on both sides.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: Ladies and gentlemen, He's winning.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: They're gonna win now. You know. Want to know why
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: I have that face?
- 1:15:09Speaker 5: Some of these are not intentional?
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: Uh, this is your lock of the week, upset lock
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: of the week Pittsburgh over the Titans. What was the
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: spread to two?
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: Huge upside too.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: They're gonna win by morn big upset.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: The New England money's not coming in, so that worries me.
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: That worries me in this game? What do they know
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: what do they know? But I'm gonna say nothing. They
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: know nothing. I thought you were gonna say nothing. Yeah,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: and he's done that plenty. Yeah, Patriots prevail twenty eight
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: nineteen Patriots.
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: My favorite part of the friend is when he when
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: he gives picks on games that there's some thought to
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: like that one. Right, He's tortured for a minute and
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: then it's really you go either way, and then stays
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: away for a two score win.
- 1:16:08Speaker 17: Right.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's another great moment.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: What about confidence?

- 1:16:45Speaker 5: Do you remember what they really are there?
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: Tire tire tire? All right, Well, guess what Deuce is back?
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: Look who's back from the locker room. What was the
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: mood where the player is friendly to that night of
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: a look like Devin Henry. Hey, Mike, what was it
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: like in the locker room? Hay, Mike, what was it
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: like in the locker room? It's all right, Mike is
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: one of the air. I love that so great.
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: Good vibes, good vibes, pre practice guys strapping on the
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: pads getting ready for a day of work.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Uh, that was good.
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: It was good.
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: Little from Austin Hooper, Mac Collins and uh and Will
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: Campbell as well, which Will Campbell scrum kind of happened.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: I couldn't burrow my way into here, so that one
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: didn't quite catch everything I would have liked to.
- 1:17:36Speaker 7: But overall, everybody, I think just excited to get this
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: thing rolling. That's like we all are. You're preparing for
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: the unknown.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: As Rabel said, Uh, Mike Collins kind of echoed that,
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: you know, we'll just see what happens and let's, you know,
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: see if our identity carries over.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: That was this thing.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: You know, we're gonna be the kind of team that
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: that we think we want to be.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: So Paul and I were talking before you got here
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: this year Open locker room is before practice. In the past,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: it's been after practice. You'd notice the difference.
- 1:18:04Speaker 7: A little bit.
- 1:18:05Speaker 6: I mean, it's interesting because I haven't I'm trying to
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: remember because last year we were in the REVS locker room, so.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: It might have always been. Since you've been here, it
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: may have always been before.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: I don't think Fridays have been after.
- 1:18:17Speaker 6: Fridays generally are hard to get guys, and it felt
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: like everybody was packing up and getting.
- 1:18:22Speaker 5: It because Bill has done it. You know, Bill for
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: the twenty whatever years did it a variety of different ways.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: But I think since you've been here, I think it's
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: almost always been the players are available before practice, except
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: for Fridays.
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: Yeah, to you a point, Yeah they were there. I
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: mean I do remember during COVID there were some late
- 1:18:39Speaker 6: of veils and that was.
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: All you know, that was all atual online anyway.
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm still kind of getting a feel for the
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: locker room and like how last year it was different
- 1:18:48Speaker 6: and we had set interviews and we're back to kind
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: of free for all scrum style, and I think.
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: Before practice is better. But I definitely see the drawbacks
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: both ways, because before practice they're trying to get dressed
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: and get out practice before they get in trouble. After practice,
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: obviously they're trying to get undressed and get out, but they.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Still have to have forty five minutes.
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, So I just I feel like generally guys
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: are pretty welcoming and warm around the locker room, and
- 1:19:13Speaker 6: we weren't really in there much last year after a
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: certain point. But I would say generally speaking, Mac Collins,
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: you know, Splaine Morgan, Moses, just.
- 1:19:21Speaker 7: Some of those guys, they seem very happy to talk
- 1:19:23Speaker 7: and music playing a little more, not to the extent
- 1:19:26Speaker 7: that there has been in the past. They scent there
- 1:19:28Speaker 7: has been in the past.
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: Then I'm not getting pumped up for practice, but you
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: know there is I think generally, just like I said,
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: the overall overshadow of it all.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: Any indications of board games.
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: Not that I saw today, you know, with lots of
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: PB and J's and on crustables in there though, like
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: homemade on crystals.
- 1:19:43Speaker 7: And I did some Gonzales walk through and it seems
- 1:19:47Speaker 7: like he's working out.
- 1:19:48Speaker 6: I don't know what it means, but he's definitely not
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: in the you can't do anything planned, so maybe that's
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: a positive sign for Weet two down the road.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: All right, back to your comments and emails podcasts at
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Patriots dot is the email address Ted and Las Vegas
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: rites in. He thinks this is an interesting stat. On
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: July twenty fourth, Caesars sportsbook had the Patriots plus seven
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: thousand in the Raiders plus nine thousand to win the
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Super Bowl. Now the odds are Patriots plus eight thousand
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: and the Raiders are plus forty five hundred. So the
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: Patriots went up a thousand, the Raiders went down by
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: haf from nine thousand to forty five hundred. The Raiders
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: improvement might be due to being in Las Vegas, where
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: Caesars is. The Patriots worsards are probably your reflection on
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: how their preseason went. What do you say? What do
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: the sharps know? That's interesting?
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: I mean we've speculated about all this stuff, like when
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: the line starts to move, what does it mean?
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think a lot of I think the
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: Patriots generally get a lot of money. I don't think
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: the Raiders would. I don't think the Raiders have a
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: lot of fans in Vegas.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: How do you feel if you're a Raiders in right now?
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: You know, like.
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: I'd be I'd be excited about it. But Fred makes
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: a good point about the Gino Smith Bridge guy, like,
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: I'd feel better about it if they had Drad May.
- 1:21:10Speaker 7: And plus Carroll's super old and you can't imagine.
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't worry about that because the coaches are interchangeable. Like,
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: if you don't have the talent, you don't have the talent,
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: but you have the talent right now, I'd be much
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: more worried about the Bridge got No, they don't have
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: the talent.
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: They're saying, like, you've got a couple pieces though, yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: you know.
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: And that's what I would be excited about. I feel
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: like they have a few, like like Mike said, like
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: Rabel said, you know they have they have some impressive
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: skill position guys to build around if you can get
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: a quarterback now. So they're doing it kind of differently
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: than some other team. You know, Washington got Daniels and
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: they're trying to put the team around him. Patriots obviously
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: got May. Now they're trying to put the team around him.
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: The Raiders saying, let's see if we can get some
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: pieces around him and then find the quarterback. Next year
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: is supposed to be a draft where there's a lot
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: of potential first round pick. Some people think as many
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: as five or six first round quarterbacks potentially. Doesn't mean
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: you're going to get a good one. Yeah, doesn't mean
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: you're going to get a good one. So that's where
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: Fred's point about the difference between the two approaches right
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: now is Geno Smith is a bridge guy, and that
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: would worry me, But Carol, I think is a good
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: guy to be with Gino Smith in the bridge. When
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: you get a quarterback, hopefully you're going to figure out
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: who you coaches, Chip Kelly maybe maybe who knows, who
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: knows it Just it's just a different approach.
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I was, you know, it's not knowniced ince Chicago's
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: roster and just how they've kind of it done it
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: and you know, adding Colston Loveland who was injured and
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: you know last year getting a Dunez but it's still
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: just continuing.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: To add Peace Weston. Loveland's hurt.
- 1:22:41Speaker 7: Now, he was hurt all summer.
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: I don't know if he's to know now I think
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: I think he is ready to go, But it was
- 1:22:47Speaker 6: a little bit of a projection at that point when
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: he was drafted.
- 1:22:50Speaker 7: I remember with the combine he had his whole his
- 1:22:51Speaker 7: whole arm in hisling.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: But you know, between them and Detroit and you see
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: some of these teams that just continue to add intriguing
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: offensive talent, and they have it coming up through the pipeline.
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: And I just love to get to that point where you.
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: Know, even if somebody goes down, well we still got
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: this guy kind of coming in and they're insulated. Whereas
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: the Raider is just such an extreme example of having.
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: Brock Bowers the number one, and then Jacobe Myers is
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: a really solid player. But I think they're hoping that
- 1:23:18Speaker 7: those other guys develop, but it's not the same.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Some of those teams just have a.
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: Lot of talent.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: Dan and Poughkeepsie writes in as an avid listener of
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: the show, I constantly have it on in my car
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: with my girlfriend, who's from New Jersey and a big
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Jets fan. After being exposed to the podcast, she was
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: quick to dislike Paul for his argumentative nature and volume. However,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: that's fair. She has fully come around to the Great
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: White snark. The start of the turnaround was fair. The
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: turnaround was simple. Paul was referring to a football game
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: in which the Commanders made many mistakes down the stretch,
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: ultimately costing them the game. Paul described the situation as
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: Washington pooping all over themselves. The final verbal gesture to
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: put him as the favorite of the show came last
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: last week. Paul knew the difference between Newark, New Jersey
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: in Newark, Delaware as a proud Delaware Blue hen alump.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: She was impressed and has become the most recent member
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: of the Paul Fanker. Well, nobody knows, you know, low
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: level college sports, CIA sports.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: It's fine Australia. I've actually been to Newark, Delaware on
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: the campus of Delaware. They used to host the basketball
- 1:24:22Speaker 5: tournament way back in the day and I covered it
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: for the Herald two or three years.
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: My sister was a Blue hen Oh really did.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Not know that he was.
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: But that's generally the way it works. Hatred, followed by
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: you know what, he's not so bad, don't you Usually
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: I just wear him down.
- 1:24:39Speaker 7: What does your brother say? You're like a toothache that's
- 1:24:41Speaker 7: t all.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: Tooth Just don't go away. Kyle from Pembroke. I think
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: the Patriot's biggest modern rival right now is the Bills.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: We were talking about rivals. They're eight and three, hammer
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: and nail. Yeah, they're eight and three against us since
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: Brady left, and their rise is correlated with our fall.
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: Not to mention one of those in Hurricane in another
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: and again the Patriots were trying to lose.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: Not to mention with the hatred between the fan bases,
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: they're clearly the biggest rival. The closest, i'd say, is
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: the Colts. We have athletic quarterbacks drafted in the top
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: five of the draft and we hope could be the
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: franchise quarterback. Both franchises fell from grace since the twenty tens,
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: and games are still close with the fans still hating
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: each other. I don't know about that even with the Bills. Like,
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: you know, that gets into that whole thing about rivals,
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: like do you have to be kind of evenly matched
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: to truly be a rivalry? You know, for years, Red
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: Sox fans considered the Yankees their biggest rival. Yankees fans
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: are like, we don't even.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: Care who and you know, you know, but the Yankees
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: hated the Red Sox too, Like don't you have to
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: have hatred on both sides? Yes, the Bills, the Bill's
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: rival right now, is not the Patriots, right it's the Chiefs, right, right, right.
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: I don't even think the Patriots will be in the
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: top five.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: No, I agree.
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: Would you call any of those guys rivals when the
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: Patriots were one in the AFC East.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: I wouldn't.
- 1:26:04Speaker 5: When Brady wainst Buffalo, it was Pittsburgh. It was the
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: Colts Pittsburgh and the Colts with the two big rivals.
- 1:26:11Speaker 7: So you don't have rivals when you stink? Is that
- 1:26:14Speaker 7: that fair to say?
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: Well? You you think you do, but you's it's like
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: that you know that cartoon with you know, Spike, you
- 1:26:21Speaker 5: know Jesus Pals, right, Spike, just like running around China
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: like you know, it's like Andy Hartt like you heels,
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: go away kid, you bothered me.
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: So maybe that's you know, we want to get back
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: into rivalry setting with with the Dolphins and yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: in a competition with them too, Like the Dolphins.
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: You keep saying it you have like goals in your mind,
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: mic and your great is it asking too much? Can
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: we beat Miami just once? When was the last time
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: the Patriots beat Miami?
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: Now to yeah?
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: I mean the one that I think you know can
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: go on both sides is when the Patriots are in
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: the dynasty, always beating the Jets. But then Rex Ryan
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: took over as the head coach the going all of
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: a sudden, All of a sudden, they started competing, and
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: you have this.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: Was rivalry adjacent at least welcome.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: I enjoyed those like Rex.
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: Took it as the Patriots are number one rival and
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: we did the whole go away, kid, you bothered me.
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden they beat us a
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: couple of times and we said, okay, we got to.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Take this seriously.
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: And then they never won again. Right now, you just
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: can't leave.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: I liked those years.
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: I mean, it was rest driving, drive you nuts, but
- 1:27:24Speaker 7: it was great for the rivalry and.
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: Ryan so much juice for eleven.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: It was good theater. God did he annoy me, it was,
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: but it was good. It was good drama. It was
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: good drama.
- 1:27:35Speaker 7: So mad.
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: I still remember the lead up into that, like nine
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: and oh he just so wanted to beat that so bad.
- 1:27:41Speaker 7: And then Wes Welker wasn't gonna play or not.
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: I just remember I've said it before, walking down to
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: like get my coffee before the game and.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: Trying so mad.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: That was the players in ten.
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: Oh, that one too.
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: It was a division a round game that was tough.
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: He wasn't hurt.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: He was Lucy Wright Soldier. My dad and I both
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: listened to the podcast and our washer just broke down.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: He's thinking of buying another brand besides Speed Queen. Please
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: convince him that Speed Queen is worth the extra charge.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: I just got a Samsung and I'm very very happy
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: with it. Okay, I have Samsung Washer and dry.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: How long have you had it?
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: I just got it just I literally just said I
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: just got.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: It anyway, No, I in year it. Just if you
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: have a big family like some of like the Samsung LG,
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: and you need all the bells and whistles, Speed Queen
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: may not be the way to go.
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: I don't have bells and whistles.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: You don't have bells and whistles on.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: Your e Maybe nester now, maybe a whistle.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: So why did you get the Speed Queen because I don't.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: Want to Speed Queen.
- 1:28:45Speaker 14: Why?
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: Why sounds expensive? It isn't.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: That's the point.
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: I got it really cheap. I got it really cheap.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: You just have to put quarters in it every time
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: you want to use it. It sounds like it sounds industrial.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: They do have a model that the laundrymats us because
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: they don't break down quarters. They don't break down. Damn
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: machine took my quarter. You know, look at your drum.
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: What's it made of? Probably plastic?
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: No, it's metal.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: Oh it's steel.
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: Well, I don't know if it's steel, but it's some
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: kind of It have to.
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: Be something that doesn't rush. Yeah, yeah, okay, all right,
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: fair point.
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: You know, I'm not the brightest ball on the tree
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: yet it's gonna get wet.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: He looked at me with.
- 1:29:27Speaker 7: We're on his side of the street and try talking dryers.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: I know, I felt like I was you know, usually
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: I'm all snarky. I was on the defensive there. I
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: don't know what I was doing anyway. Well, no, I'm
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: not going to tell your dad what to do. But
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: if if you look in and it's they're not that expensive.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: If you're looking for something that is.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: What's not that expensive, like regular household the house afore.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: It's been so long since I bought it because it
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: doesn't break down?
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: Husband, wife, two point three kids, what's what do you
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: think that's?
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: I have no idea. I'm not I haven't been in
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: the market for a while. Let's price this.
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: Out, because I want to see if I like, I
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: actually didn't even see any speech queens.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: To be honest with you, Well, you have to go
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: to certain places.
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: You get a knock on the door.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: If you go to the big box stores.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: They don't big box scores don't have So I did
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: get it at a big box, Yeah.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: They don't have those. You got to go to the
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: appliance store.
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: Yeah, which I've generally done in the past, and I
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: would wholeheartedly agree with your theory of you're much better
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: off going to the appliance stores. Unfortunately, they're going.
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to find them, hard to find.
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: The ones that the one that I got all my
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: appliances when we first bought our house is gone.
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: Yeah, jeez, I mean these are some of these pretty
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: nice though. For the combo, I mean you're talking almost
- 1:30:34Speaker 6: three grand for the high end, you know, twenty six incher,
- 1:30:39Speaker 6: but you go a little smaller.
- 1:30:40Speaker 7: Did you have a thirteen comedy?
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: I paid less than half that.
- 1:30:44Speaker 7: Yeah, less combinations for both washer and the drive.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: Oh okay, so I paid about that. Then if you're
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: you know, you're going to go in reasonable six six
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: hundred or so, for one or the other.
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: So we'll see if your dad wants to call in,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: we can talk.
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: Fred will talk you through it and he'll take care
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: of you. What do I gotta do to get you
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: in this speed Queen by the end of the show.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: Now, listen the way I found out about him. I
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: was in the market. This is years ago, and I
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: was in Foxboro and there was this little appliance guy
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: in the bot in Foxborough Center in the basement and
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: I walked in and I, you know, I was like,
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: not shady at all. Yeah, I was mentioning, you know
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: the major brands. He goes, have you thought about speed Queen?
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: I said, I have no idea. I've never seen he goes,
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: just check it out moment.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: Not shady at all. I'm sure they weren't running with
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: it right there.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: I didn't buy it from him, the Blackjack going. I
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: did end up buying it, but not from him.
- 1:31:37Speaker 7: But yeah, do you need a gun to or anything
- 1:31:40Speaker 7: like that?
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: Lett Wheel in the corner. Guy who's asking I got
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: some speed queens?
- 1:31:44Speaker 16: Right?
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Who's asking? Joseph, the biggest Patriot Patriots fan in Hillsboro, Oregon,
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: have a very important question for Deuce about a subject
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: that has not been covered enough. What does Mike Vrabel
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: wear a sideline for week one? Does weather play a factor?
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: Or is Rabes a hardo that will wear the same
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: fit every game? Will he out drip Pete Carroll? Now
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: he loves the vest and the red sleeves.
- 1:32:09Speaker 6: I think we've seen that. You have seen some wind breakers.
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: But I will say one other thing too. Bill Belichick
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: wore the cutoffs to Hoodie and he got interviewed about
- 1:32:17Speaker 6: it and he's like, yeah, that's kind of my thing,
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: and I'm like, thank you. He always just asked like,
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: I don't know, it was just hanging up in there.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: I put it on, you know.
- 1:32:24Speaker 7: But they clearly his first game had to go with
- 1:32:27Speaker 7: the great cutoffs.
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: So unfortunately you couldn't find one that fit.
- 1:32:31Speaker 7: To go to the double XL.
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: I think, oh, Rabel, Yeah, the Rabel will most likely
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: have some sort of vest off with the red sleeves.
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: Pete Carroll will have just the mono color all that black,
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: like dry fit, long sleeve shirt on that. Yeah, you
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: want to come like really active, like his life's depending
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: on you know, choose per per minute, right, That's what
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: he wore the Seahawks he always had the Seahawks blue
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: long sleeve drive fit. I'm sure.
- 1:33:01Speaker 6: I respective Rabel's got a look and he just kind
- 1:33:04Speaker 6: of sticks with it. And kind of like we were
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: talking off air, I have a friend who only wore
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: black T shirts.
- 1:33:08Speaker 7: Like you just you don't want to think a.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: Lot of coaches have a look and they just stick
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: with it. It's just that Belichick's was just so different.
- 1:33:14Speaker 7: Yeah, Rape's got those long arms, and I think that, like,
- 1:33:16Speaker 7: you know, it's.
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: Accentuates the best.
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: Yeah, like it.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: Are you going to track this now? Maybe tell the truth.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: You don't have to hide it from me. I'm going
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: to make fun of you.
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: Probably going to make how about this. I'll start making
- 1:33:28Speaker 6: notes of what he's wearing. And if I start to
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: see trends and there's like some different options, but.
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: You don't want to start from behind. You have to
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: kind of.
- 1:33:37Speaker 6: Track it, and then it might lead to the establishment
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: of a Mike Vrabel vest database.
- 1:33:42Speaker 7: Perhaps we'll see okay, all right, but excited.
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: I just like the fact that, yes, Fred, he's already
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: given it some thought.
- 1:33:50Speaker 7: Oh yeah, oh well, I got a thing, you know, I'm.
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: Just trying to capture the spirit of the thing.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: Call from Galway, Ireland rights in. Was it just me
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: or was there an undertone of Rabel being annoyed with
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: Gonzo in the press conference? Felt to me that he
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: thought he could train but decided not to. Might be
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: reading it all wrong, but something to keep an eye on.
- 1:34:12Speaker 6: I thought he was a kid just getting annoyed that
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: all they were asking about was Christian Gonzalez in week
- 1:34:17Speaker 6: one of against the Raiders. I mean at that particular moment.
- 1:34:20Speaker 6: I don't know if he's saying generally today.
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: I didn't necessarily see that, but I do think he
- 1:34:25Speaker 5: has been I think he was a little bit on Monday.
- 1:34:27Speaker 7: Soft tissue injuries not his favorite.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Mowen, Rhode Island. Last week, Paul started talking
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: about why the Patriots aren't the Boston Patriots, but something
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: came up that interrupted the story. Could he pick that
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: back up? And ps? Foxborough was closer to Providence than Boston.
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: You said that Billy Sullivan was mad.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: Yeah, well, he got pissy because he couldn't build a
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: stadium in Boston and then they ended up moving and
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: that's why he changed it from.
- 1:34:58Speaker 7: Boston here a stadium. When they made the stadium to Foxboro.
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: The old Shaffer Stadium.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because for people.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: I don't know all the details because I wasn't around.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean for people who weren't around back then.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: Before the Patriots played in Foxborough, they played they were nomads.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: They played at bu they played at Harvard, they played
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: one season at Fenway. So they didn't have a home.
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: And like Paul said, the Sullivans were trying to build
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: something in Boston and they just couldn't get it done.
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: And they had this land down here in Foxborough next
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: to the race, the horse race track, and so they
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: built you know, which basically was a dump. It was
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: actually the Bill Stadium was built at the same time.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: It's exactly the same the two of them were built.
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, and they're both dumps.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: Now they've added to it. Yeah, but you know, just
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: concrete bowls literally a real dump. And and uh but
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: I will say one thing for the Sullivans, they were
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: one of the first teams to start the trend of
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: naming rights for the stadium.
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: Absolutely. I think shape the Shaffer Stadium was an endorsement deal,
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: which I never actually knew growing up. Yeah, so that
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: was they they saved the way for that Mike, I
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: don't know if you know, but Schaefer is the one
- 1:36:13Speaker 5: beer to have when you're having more than one, right.
- 1:36:16Speaker 7: Wow, if you're out there to get wasted.
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: That was like the things you used to and forget about,
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: like you you would advertise like cigarettes and ever else,
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: but like Schaefer is the.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: One beer to have when you're having more than one.
- 1:36:33Speaker 7: So they went out of business. I don't know is
- 1:36:37Speaker 7: it's still I mean, the land of craft beers and
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: everybody's there. There's millions of beers in that one.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: But it's amazing, like as a kid, the jingles that
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: you remember that I'm.
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: Designed for right, yeah, well it's like you do all
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: the time.
- 1:36:51Speaker 6: Oh when they when they hijack an old song for
- 1:36:57Speaker 6: a for a like some kind of medication or saw
- 1:37:00Speaker 6: that always those those are the worst.
- 1:37:02Speaker 7: John and South Beer exists and Paps Brewing Company owns it.
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: Owns it. Okay, makes sense, Swill.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: I don't think I've ever had a shape of beer.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: Young well it was still around.
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: I don't think that would.
- 1:37:17Speaker 7: I don't think.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: John John in South Carolina. I agree with what you're
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: saying about the rivals in Buffalo. Buffalo with the exception
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: of if a fan base buys a billboard harassing another
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: fan group, they have created a rivalry where one should
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: not exist.
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: They definitely were trolling.
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that was agree with that.
- 1:37:39Speaker 7: That was a couple of years ago though. I think
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: that was the early.
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: When they first got it and it was all new
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: to them and they were, you know, feeling themselves. And
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: now the Bills have realized that, like there's not really
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: all that much joy in winning the division. You know,
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: you start getting these AFC championships and real competition and
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: you're like, you're like, what do I care about? You know,
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: the AFC is great, Like it's a hatt and teacher
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: game in the third, second week of December.
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: A couple of years there were like they had to
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: beat Miami like on the last game of the season
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: to win the division. I'm sure that was satisfying for him.
- 1:38:07Speaker 7: But now it's like they're tying last Jelie and they're
- 1:38:10Speaker 7: just looking at the mean he said, what were you
- 1:38:12Speaker 7: guys saying, how do we get past the ABC champions Back.
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: In the heyday, Fred, we would have hat and T
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: shirt games in November.
- 1:38:18Speaker 7: That's right. I don't think about you at all. Like,
- 1:38:20Speaker 7: I don't think about once you get.
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: To that point, and I don't even know, like Kobe
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: brought who you Who's he?
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: I don't think about Tim, And Hilton Head thinks he's
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: going to be a smarty pants, he says. Fred looks
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: at Paul with other disgusts and claims Steele doesn't rust.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: I guess Pittsburgh shouldn't be part of the Roust Belt
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: with all that steel. The rust Belt got the name
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: because of the closed factories that all got rusted out.
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: Oh is that true? Yeah, I did not know that. Ohio, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cleveland.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: It's because in Buffalo. It's because all these factories along
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: the various lakes there closed up.
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: And now if Google search on that, would it back
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: that up?
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: Well, stainless steel, stainless steel does not russ.
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: No, I that I know, But I never knew the
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: origins of the term roust belt.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: Yeah, what about dustball dustbel that's part of that's right,
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: during the depression, it all dried up.
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: And well, so I saw a statu or something that said, again,
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: this is like I picked up random information from the Internet,
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: but it said that when the dust ball was originally settled,
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: it was unseasonably like had been an unseasonably period of moisture,
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: and so the land was actually falsely point and when
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: they switch and then time finally caught up, the soil
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: went to crap and and you know, okay, corporate covering
- 1:39:38Speaker 6: it all hair.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Yeah, this is what we generally provide.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: In Week one of the NFL Sins and washing machines. Okay,
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: fan piccon Claire Wrights in, Hello.
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: Everyone, Hello Marine, I gotta see. I see all the
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: divisional teams as rivals. I don't hate equally, but Bill's,
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: Finn's Jets, I hate them all.
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: I would agree with that divisional rivals you're the ones
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: that you hate.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: But I really struggle to hate the Bills.
- 1:40:03Speaker 6: And I don't know, maybe that's just the me problem.
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: Like I still have a little hate firing me from
- 1:40:07Speaker 6: my fan days for the Dolphins and the.
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: Jets for me Miami. I still don't like the Bills.
- 1:40:12Speaker 6: There's just something about them that, like I see a
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: little bit of the Patriots in them, and the Patriots
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: being like the team that couldn't quite get over the
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: hump and never had that success. And then like I
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: don't know, there's such a passionate fan base and there's
- 1:40:23Speaker 6: not much up there.
- 1:40:24Speaker 7: I know, I'm yeah, this is blasphemy right now.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:40:29Speaker 7: I don't hate them, you know, I.
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: Don't hate really like that. Like I like Josh Allen
- 1:40:33Speaker 5: and I do like if they play the Chiefs, I
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: root for the Bills, you know, in those in those
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: big games, because they can't get over the hump, you know,
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: Like I guess you're not supposed to. If you're a
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: Patriots fan, you should be rooting against the Bills.
- 1:40:45Speaker 7: I don't know, Yeah, I don't think I could ever
- 1:40:47Speaker 7: do it for the Bills.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: I mean for the Jets or Dolphins.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: Maybe it's just because I like Josh, I hate I
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: hated Don Shula and then Marino came and I hate,
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: like they just couldn't beat them.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: I loved Larry's hunka oh, I just love Larry that
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: a little like that before my day, well he was
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: a fullback, but I like he was like a running back,
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: you know, he had a lot of carry.
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: Back in those days. It was two backs in the
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: backfield at the same time that both both carried the ball. Yeah,
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: like Rocky Blyer and Franco Harris.
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: Mercury Morris and Larry Zanka and they had Jim. Yeah,
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: that was a good offense. Damien from kirk Island, first
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: time listener, Uh, longtime listener, first time reaching out. I've
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: been watching a lot of Patriots and Tom Brady documentaries
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: over the years, and I heard the word intangibles being
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: used to describe the hidden qualities that Brady possessed that
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: made the guy such a killer both on and off
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: the field. My question is, have you or any of
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: the crew seen intangible qualities among the present group of
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: Patriots players and coaches which show potential for greatness that
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: we as fans would not be able to observe in
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: reports or see in the Forged in Foxborough documentaries, which,
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: by the way, episode three drop last week. Go to
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: YouTube watch it. Get ready for the season. It's awesome.
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: What do you think, anybody that you.
- 1:42:13Speaker 6: Just saying if you found a tangible and tangible that
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: you could maybe point out.
- 1:42:18Speaker 7: I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: I'm not sure I can you know, but I understand
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: what his point is. Just give you the vibe?
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: I mean, did Brady give you guys the vibe? In
- 1:42:25Speaker 7: two thousand when you're like two.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: Thousand, but.
- 1:42:33Speaker 7: Vibe right.
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: I don't know if there's a guy that maybe.
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: I mean, Henderson looks like a stud, but that is tangible.
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: He runs really fast and he just is active every
- 1:42:44Speaker 6: time I've seen him play.
- 1:42:45Speaker 7: So I'm not I don't know.
- 1:42:47Speaker 6: I mean I would say, like ke On White has
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: like looks like he has some intangibles, but I haven't
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: seen yet.
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: I mean, he looks like it all pro I mean
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: just getting off.
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: The bat in tangibles like kind of like what you
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: how you would describe like what Jabrill Pepper's sort of
- 1:43:02Speaker 5: getting the team all jacked up, you know, the defense
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: ready to go, Like maybe he's not the best safety
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: in football, but he's got some inspiration behind him. Those
- 1:43:11Speaker 5: kinds of players.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: I don't know I could.
- 1:43:13Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know if this applies, but I
- 1:43:15Speaker 7: would just say I think the well.
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: How would you define intangible? Like what are if you
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: had to list something considered intangible?
- 1:43:22Speaker 7: What a certain energy that a guy brings to the
- 1:43:25Speaker 7: building that you feel is.
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: Leader the leadership quality to him, A guy who gets
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: more out of his ability than the some you know,
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: kind of the some of the parts, like it's intangible,
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: So it's kind of hard to define you guys.
- 1:43:36Speaker 6: I'll say Morgan Moses just to him, he like I
- 1:43:42Speaker 6: said yesterday, he's very talking to everybody. He stops by
- 1:43:46Speaker 6: the wide receivers.
- 1:43:47Speaker 7: He's chatting them up.
- 1:43:48Speaker 6: And the other guy that I think is an interesting
- 1:43:50Speaker 6: intangible guy is Mac Hollins in that very confident.
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: But I just I wonder how it's all going to translate.
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: With I would maybe throw Roberts Laying into this mix,
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: but I love you two picks make I think that's
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: exactly how I'm I mean, I guess everybody thinks of
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: that word.
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: A little bit. That's the thing. And you're gonna yell
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: at me, I won't yell, promise. I think when we
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: talk about in comparisons, the word intangible is misused. It
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: should be something it's hard to put a finger on. Yeah,
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: But like you see the matchups and say, okay, intangibles
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: coaching this way, whether those aren't intangible, those are tangible.
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: You know, like you either have better coaching or you know.
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: So I'm not I understand what you're saying. But like
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: when they say like coaching, you can't necessarily identify why
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: this guy is better in this situation than that guy.
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: You just know he in general has been better in
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: those situations. Okay, I thought weather, whether it's not like,
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: well it's raining, the weather's a tangible it's this team
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: has proven in the fact, it doesn't matter what the
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: conditions are, like the Brady Patriots could beat you in
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: any weather except for extreme heat. That was a scryptonite.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: That's the one. But like you know, but like a
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: good leader, well that's tangible. Well no, it's really not.
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: How like I think Morgan Moses is exactly the way
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: you just said.
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: We walked in this room, we said this is the
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: time we would follow.
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: It was a tangible to me, it was an intangible.
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: Intangible is something I can't I know my finger on
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: why this guy is a leader, Like.
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: I understand what you're saying. Nobody, you're taking it too far? Now,
- 1:45:20Speaker 5: I do I get it because I was struggling with
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: I think it's an intangible quality, Like you can't where
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: do you put it? Like, well, how much is that worth? Yeah,
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: that's it's it's intangible. You can't quantify it. The guy's
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: a good leader. Does that really help? He had the
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: right thing to say. I don't know if it was
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: the right thing to say. It seemed like the right
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: thing to say.
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: Where do I put that in it?
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: I feel it's intangible. We're gonna get into talk about
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: aura because that's a big thing. The kids and I
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: feel it. They like it, didn't risen. Aura is an intangible, right.
- 1:45:49Speaker 7: I don't know, he's just got he's got an r
- 1:45:50Speaker 7: about him. I'd say that I get some of the
- 1:45:53Speaker 7: other ones.
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: I get the point, but I think a lot of
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: that stuff would qualify as intangible.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but I know what, I know what.
- 1:45:59Speaker 7: You Morgan moses like, I just his presence when he
- 1:46:03Speaker 7: walked in, you know, I mean.
- 1:46:05Speaker 10: It was.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: What does that worth?
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: What does that worth?
- 1:46:09Speaker 5: If it's tangible, there's a quality to it, there's a
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: quantity to it. Is like you can't you can't put
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: your finger on just that guy's a guy who's a leader.
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: That guy's quiet.
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: You can see it.
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: There's a difference. But I don't know what we either
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: one is. Does that mean that one guy is worth
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: more than the other? No, Like, let's say two guys
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: of the exact same ability. One guy has the leadership
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: quality and one guy is very quiet. One guy is
- 1:46:31Speaker 5: Kyle Duger. One guy's Morgan Moses, but the same exact talent.
- 1:46:37Speaker 5: It's intangible. I don't know who's worth more, but one
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: guy has a leadership to him. That's, you know, bring
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: in some intangible value. Good question, right, it is a
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: good question. But I don't know. I think Might came
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: up with two good examples of Morgan Moses and Mac Collins.
- 1:46:54Speaker 6: And you and you brought up Splaine too, and that's,
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: you know, three guys that you're hoping are going to
- 1:46:59Speaker 6: help change the culture.
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: And where's Evan. He's going to come back in practice now,
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: I know, but he's supposed.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: To come back.
- 1:47:06Speaker 7: He will, but they're probably I thought they only could.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: Watch a certain amounts the other day. They were out
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: there for almost twenty What is.
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: He doing now? No, he's conferring with Barth and Taylor Kyles, No,
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: I comparing notes.
- 1:47:18Speaker 7: Promise you, Fred, as soon as Evan is able to
- 1:47:20Speaker 7: be back in here, I'm sure you will.
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: Okay, But you need that practice update.
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: Huh, yeah, everybody does. We need it from eyes that
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: saw it. Todd and Garner writes in so glad, I'm
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: back home from a holiday in Minneapolis. Now I get
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: to listen to you guys live. What's this now? Oh, okay,
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: we'll read that in a second. I really feel that
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: the game will come down to two basic things, mistakes
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: and coaching. Patriots have more coaching talent and if they
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: can minimize mistakes, turnovers and penalties, I absolutely believe that
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: our guys will win thirty five to twenty three, with
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: the Raiders getting a junktie like.
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: Just a greed.
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: I disagree too. I don't know if the Patriots have
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: a coaching edge in this game. Pete Carroll is one
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: of the best coaches in the league. And now we
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: don't know about Chip Kelly, but Patrick Graham has been.
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: A going When talking about coaching, it's Pete Carroll and
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: Mike Grabel and Pete Carroll's resume is better than Mike grabeles.
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: He Carroll's a Hall of Fame coach. I don't know
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: if he'll end up in the Hall of Fame, but
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: he has a Hall of fame resume. Yeah, we'll see
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: what Mike Rabel ends up being. He says, what you're six,
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: You're seven, right?
- 1:48:29Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: Mike Carroll has won a super Bowl in the NFL.
- 1:48:32Speaker 7: Like am I crazy?
- 1:48:33Speaker 6: I just think like, as a player, if I have
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: a young guy like Mike Rabel coming in, I'm like, yes,
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: this is a team I want to be part of.
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: If I'm the Raiders and I had Josh McDaniels.
- 1:48:43Speaker 6: And then he's gone, and then you know, we're smoking
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: cigars with Antonio Antonio Peers and it's a party. And
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: now they bring in the oldest coach in the whole league,
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: and I'm like, like, is this are we on another jack.
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: To grossly underestimating Pete Carroll?
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: Yeah, saying but to me as a player like that in.
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: There, because when Pete Carroll left here, I was no
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: huge fan of his coaching. I was a really big
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: fan of the person. But I think he's developed into
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: a really good coach. I think he's a good mix
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: of the hard line and player coach, which I think
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: Vrabel is trying to get. Rabel's players in Tennessee did
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: not love him. Yeah, I think he's trying to sort
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: of change that mentality a little bit here. I think
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: there's a lot.
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: I didn't mean that in any way a shot at
- 1:49:24Speaker 6: Pete Carroll. I just mean it's like a player looking
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: at where's our organization going.
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: Let me tell you something. Pete Carroll's practices are as
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: competitive as they can get in the NFL, and he
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: reads it one of the hardest in the league. That's what.
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: Maybe I'm wrong, but I mean, would you feel the
- 1:49:37Speaker 6: same about Bill if Bill went to another NFL.
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: I wouldn't want any part I've ever played for Bill,
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: but just for that. But I would love to play
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: for Pete Carroll. The way the players talk about it,
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: I would love to play for Andy Reid. I totally
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: hear it, and I think they're I don't know what
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: the mentality you're talking about. If I was on the Patriots,
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: i'd feel better because my coach potentially could be here
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: for a while. I just feel like, but if it works,
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: he's only going to be there another couple of years.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: That's what you're saying.
- 1:50:03Speaker 7: Thank you, Thank you for boiling it down to the
- 1:50:05Speaker 7: way I mean.
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: I think that's inarguable. And he's the oldest coach in football,
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: right right. I don't know how you can have a
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: logical argument to say Carol's not on the back nine,
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: right right, But I.
- 1:50:16Speaker 6: Agree with your point of Like, I mean, for me
- 1:50:19Speaker 6: liking to play for kind of those kind of coaches
- 1:50:21Speaker 6: like absolutely like and I can pay.
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:25Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: We have the address for people who want to participate
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: in the weekly picks on the app Boston Cream has created.
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: Uh, here it is.
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: You're gonna have to write it down tiny ur l
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: dot com So tiny u r l dot com slash
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: Patriots unfiltered. Pretty simple, tiny ur l dot com slash
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: Patriots unfiltered. So download that or go to it however
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: you want to do it. And uh, you can put
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: your picks in and after every week we'll say who
- 1:51:00Speaker 2: was doing well from the week before, and.
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: You can flex on us when you don't want to
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: hear it.
- 1:51:04Speaker 7: I don't want to hear it. If your picks are.
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: Better than mine, Mike's going to have a big year issue.
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: I can, I can. I can feel it. Mike's gonna
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: have a feel for the league.
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: I'm want to study the tape. I'm gonna grind the tape.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: A little more.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: Grind the rest of the grind grind it.
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, So come in.
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: I know they had practice the other day. They were
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: out there for about twenty minutes. So if it's one thirty,
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: it's only fifty.
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: Started at one thirty.
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: Yeah, and Mike just went to the locker room for
- 1:51:33Speaker 5: a little while and then he came in here. I know, practice,
- 1:51:36Speaker 5: the practice window was scheduled to start at one.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: Evan doesn't actually move that fast, so.
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: No, you know, he's he's sort of like a three
- 1:51:43Speaker 5: toed sloth, isn't it.
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: He kind of wattles around.
- 1:51:48Speaker 5: I was stunned today when Mike and I were in
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: the bullpen chatting and in walks evident like nine thirty,
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: It's like.
- 1:51:55Speaker 7: Whoa, Like, where's that coming?
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: One?
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: Because he had a because he had a ten catch
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: twenty two engagements, right Dana Virginia in Michigan.
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: Just to keep the runoff run of off season nonsense
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: subject going even though it's football Wednesday just brought up
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: the old songs being brought back as jingles for medications.
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: As a regular watcher of Jeopardy, I see a steady
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: string of commercials for medications, even of even each of
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: those medications has a name like a bad Hand and scrabble.
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: They all have seven letters, one vowel usually a high
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: point value but difficult to use letter like k or z.
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: So it's so inconsistent that almost seems like an industry rule.
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: We know PU nation has an expert, is an expert
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: on anyone? Does anyone know the answer to this admittedly
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: very niche question, why do drugs get the names of
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: the Yeah?
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: He never is that the question?
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: I guess?
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: So?
- 1:52:47Speaker 7: Yeah, govy.
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: I think I think they have to come up with
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: a word that's never been used before.
- 1:52:51Speaker 7: Ye, And honestly, don't.
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: Are there people out there that were, like, I got
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: moderate to severe plaxoriasis and this pill looks like it
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: might help what I have. I'm gonna go ask my
- 1:52:59Speaker 6: doctor about it, because isn't that what these whole ads
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: are for. You're trying to target people, Oh, with these conditions,
- 1:53:04Speaker 6: So go to their doctor, Like, gone to your doctor.
- 1:53:06Speaker 7: And be like, so tell me about what we go
- 1:53:08Speaker 7: v Like, what's up with this?
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:53:09Speaker 7: Can you help me?
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: Right? Well?
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: I don't tell which one it is, But this is
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: an interesting thing that happened over the last couple of years.
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: It was it's one of these pharmaceutical things. And they
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: had this really really catchy theme song, so catchy in fact,
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: that people sued them and they had to change the
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: song like enough so that it didn't sound like the
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: one before. Same words everything, but it was just changed enough,
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: so I guess it wasn't as catchy, and I forget
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: that you can.
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: Google it right, So people are like, I don't even
- 1:53:45Speaker 6: have plackoriasis, but I want to get on just I
- 1:53:47Speaker 6: just want to try it.
- 1:53:48Speaker 7: It just looks like they're living a great life, and
- 1:53:50Speaker 7: I want that life. Yeah, this is Matt Morrel handing
- 1:53:53Speaker 7: me something.
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: Drug names must be unique and distinguishable from other medications
- 1:53:56Speaker 6: to avoid confusion and potential medical errors.
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: Okay, we don't the market. Let's get back to little football.
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: Steve writes in why do people get upset with Drake
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: May for improvising and practicing his improvation improvisational skills during play?
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: But no one seems to care? But no one seems
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: to care when people like Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: do it. I don't know. I understand that those folks
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: are more developed in the league, but you don't get
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: there by not trying. No one huffed and puffed when
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes would try and try again and again during college.
- 1:54:32Speaker 5: I just don't. I think I talk about arguing, talk
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: about arguing against yourself.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: I think fans want him to do it more.
- 1:54:37Speaker 5: Who is he arguing with, Yeah, Drake May's greatest strength
- 1:54:41Speaker 5: is his mobility and his ability to make plays off platform.
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: That's his best asset.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: Launched the ball.
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: Now we're trying to figure out a way to avoid
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: the mistakes when doing so, or run it. By the way,
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: I know that the email says the opposite. Josh Allen
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: dealt with constantly early in his career. Right right, is
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: this guy ever gonna get it? He's always thrown into
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: triple coverage. He that thinks he could do everything. He's
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: Superman out there, like yeah, right, right, Then all of
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: a sudden you tone down the mistakes, but yet you're
- 1:55:12Speaker 5: still making the plays and you become a star.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: That's what you got to do.
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: But I don't think anybody criticizes Drake May because he
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: can run.
- 1:55:22Speaker 6: No, I just you know, you want to make sure
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: he's doing it within the structure of the offense and
- 1:55:26Speaker 6: not just tucking and running the side.
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: Don't change hands with the ball as you're getting sacked
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: and fumble. Yeah, so that's what he got criticized for.
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: Not bet he tried to scramble out of the pocket.
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: We didn't want to step on Evan's toes. But like,
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: since he's probably not gonna make it, what do we
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: know from practice from the.
- 1:55:42Speaker 6: X there's been nothing yet, really complete radio silence from
- 1:55:45Speaker 6: the entire media brigade right now.
- 1:55:47Speaker 7: Wow, it did seem furious. Look at this.
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: A few minutes left, he's gonna.
- 1:55:52Speaker 7: Have to hollery, probably not even enough time to play
- 1:55:55Speaker 7: his song.
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: Wow has been shot?
- 1:56:04Speaker 7: Practice and quit?
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: Evan.
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: Why why the delay? First off, there's no delay, this
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: was this is the timing. So well, how long did
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: practice go for it?
- 1:56:16Speaker 19: Well, we were out there, got out there about one Yeah,
- 1:56:21Speaker 19: that's until they actually let the scribes into the practice.
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: Hence the delay.
- 1:56:27Speaker 19: Current Yes, yes, okay, but no no real surprises. Christian
- 1:56:32Speaker 19: Gonzalez the only player not spotted that practice as.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: So he wasn't even there on the side, not yet.
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: We did see him in the locker room.
- 1:56:40Speaker 19: He was walking around the locker room, so I would
- 1:56:42Speaker 19: assume that he probably will get out there eventually and
- 1:56:44Speaker 19: to observe, but not dressed for practice.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: Not participating. Okay, So what else do we got?
- 1:56:51Speaker 5: That's it?
- 1:56:52Speaker 19: Honestly, it's a you know, pretty a.
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: Lot of anticipation for just that. It's all I got.
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: We're building it up something up.
- 1:57:00Speaker 7: At least it's pretty mood.
- 1:57:02Speaker 19: Yeah, we did to get you know, it was very
- 1:57:04Speaker 19: nice out today, very great weather, and so some people
- 1:57:07Speaker 19: were saying, oh, you know, we'll see who's still here
- 1:57:10Speaker 19: when it's snowing and raining in December and January.
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: And I was like, we'll still be here. I mean, hey,
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: don't don't worry about that. Is it a large contingent.
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: It was a large contingent they're giving.
- 1:57:21Speaker 19: They're giving Drake and Stefan Diggs after practice and like
