- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to talk about getting ready.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Do you know the interesting thing about life, especially in the second half?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: We don't have time to get ready.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: By now, we have to be ready.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: The funny thing about life is people oftentimes say, I'm going to do something once I'm ready, once I've studied, once I've uh got all of the information, once I know exactly how everything is going to work.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: The challenge with that is getting ready will never be ready because there's always more to learn, more to do, more to understand.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: There's always another reason to delay under the guise of getting ready.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: I want you to imagine for a moment that there is the quote, procrastination is the thief of time.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Once we recognize that there's a thief in our midst, the thief must repay.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Because we cannot allow a thief, especially procrastination, to steal our days.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Once we make it to the second half of life, it's very important that each and every day count.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Now, if you think about this, even when we're waiting, and that's a valid point.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Some people say, I want to wait.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: I know I need to make a change, but I'm not really ready to do it right now.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: The interesting thing about that is that our bodies are continuing to clock time.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Like it or not, the package that you're in today in the second half of life, in the third quarter, is not the same package that you were in in the first quarter.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, physically, it's the same DNA, it's the same structure, but it's totally different.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: It's not built the same, structured the same, it doesn't even work the same.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: And if we're not careful, we can allow the best of our years to pass us by.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: There is like an expiration date on transition and change.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: You have to be able to move in the season that change should happen because you could inadvertently wait too late, and then you've missed your opportunity to move into a new season, into a new space, into a new opportunity.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: That is why many of the episodes we talk about not allowing people to keep you in the box, right?
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Not allowing the expectation of others to handcuff your destiny.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: It can happen.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: It's not intentional, and people don't do it to cause you harm, but no one really wants to experience the uncertainty of change.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: But if you think about it, moving from one home to another, from even a home that may not have been nice to a home that's a little nicer, from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom, apartment or unit or condo, it's a change.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: There's uncertainty in that change, but ultimately, once you navigate the change, certainty arrives and you feel better.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: It's just like making the decision to activate your next.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: When you've done the same thing for a lot of years, sometimes there's a fear that hides in comfort.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Comfort is actually the enemy of success.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Comfort is the enemy of progress.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And comfort is the enemy of change.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: I want you to imagine if we're so comfortable, we can be lulled into complacency and actually be unable to see change that's happening around us.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Very important.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: So looking at time and looking at this fourth quarter, the third and fourth quarter, the second half of life, we've got to act as though this is the Super Bowl and we've come back from halftime and we're back in the game now.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: What are we going to do?
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I would submit the plays that we ran in the first and second quarter are not going to be sufficient to win the game of life.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: With that being said, let's fix our mind that yes, we can activate our next.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: What is it that excites you?
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: What are you interested in?
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: What do you love?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: What do you like?
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: What did you always want to be or do?
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: We've got to start now because there's no time to waste.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: I look forward to seeing you on the next episode.
