- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today we're talking about the importance of having a spiritual
- 0:35practice. Now, not talking about religion
- 0:38can be religious if that's what you choose, but I'm just talking
- 0:40about a spiritual practice. Why is it important and what do
- 0:45the statistics tell us about it? Well, people that have a
- 0:49spiritual practice tend to be healthier by as much as 50 to
- 0:5560%, depending upon the studies you look at.
- 0:58Mentally, physically, emotionally, it's just it,
- 1:03There's something about it that brings us a sense of peace.
- 1:08And because we have this spiritual practice that we can
- 1:10rely on for things, it tends to make us just feel more
- 1:14comforted. It makes us calm down.
- 1:17Now again, I'm, I, I, I am telling you the importance of
- 1:21this because having faith in something, whether it's
- 1:24yourself, whether it's the universe, whether it's God,
- 1:27whether it's a specific doctrine that you follow, Catholicism,
- 1:30Hinduism, it doesn't really make a difference.
- 1:33It all comes back to one big thing is that you believe you're
- 1:37not alone. And the thing about human
- 1:41beings, just like having, you know, I'm standing here in the
- 1:44midst of the morning, the girls are eating their breakfast,
- 1:47everybody's Peck, Peck, pecking away, eating bananas and
- 1:50zucchini and all the good stuff, oatmeal, all that.
- 1:55I watch them and they are flock animals and it so reminds me of
- 2:01how humans are. Like.
- 2:03Just like chickens have friends in the group, they have ones
- 2:06that they rely on that they go to.
- 2:09I've watched them mourn. I've watched what happens when
- 2:12one of them who has a friend and the friend dies.
- 2:16It is, it's, it's just like watching, you know, that there
- 2:20is a sadness in that being. They don't simply forget that
- 2:25quickly. And I think that's really
- 2:27important. And when they believe that
- 2:29you're their friend, they come right over to you.
- 2:31I'm here. I'm I'm in the midst of them
- 2:34all. And some of the babies that are
- 2:36still, well, they're not really babies anymore.
- 2:38They're quite big, but they got very used to sitting with me
- 2:42when they were little, like on my lap sitting, just sitting
- 2:45here hanging out with me. They're here.
- 2:46They believe I'm their friends. So that's part of their faith.
- 2:49They have faith in. Me and having faith in something
- 2:53developing in that spiritual practice is.
- 2:56So. Darn important for us as human
- 2:59beings because it gives us the ability to look at things.
- 3:02And say. That.
- 3:05Oh, a new new. Crow from King Rufus.
- 3:08Like here he goes. He's trying to learn to crow.
- 3:12But it's so important because it's establishing a foundation
- 3:16upon which you can build good things.
- 3:18It's establishing this nice foundation for things and it's
- 3:22not it's, it's not giving you a push that says you must do a
- 3:27certain doctrine or anything. Like that?
- 3:29It's just. More about.
- 3:30Believing in something and knowing that there is a,
- 3:34something out there that you can rely on.
- 3:38Now for some people, they are, you know, they do not believe in
- 3:41the spiritual realm of things. They can't, you know, see, and
- 3:44that's totally fine. It could just be that there are
- 3:47their belief is in their family, their friends, and that's okay.
- 3:51If that's what they choose to believe, that's what that's
- 3:54okay. And I am not here to profess
- 3:57which is right and wrong. I'm here to profess that you
- 4:00need to believe in something. You need to have that bigger
- 4:03belief in something because of the benefits of it.
- 4:06So the spiritual way you look at the world helps you adapt when
- 4:12the things don't go the way you want.
- 4:14So if you asked me, you know, do I have a spiritual practice?
- 4:19I would say absolutely. And this is part of it.
- 4:21Coming out, being with my animals, watching my animals,
- 4:25seeing my animals, this all brings me right to nature.
- 4:29The garden is a spiritual practice for me.
- 4:32Hearing the geese fly over, being out here on the mornings
- 4:35when it's so quiet, watching my, the entire flock interact with
- 4:41all the free ranged bunnies that we have.
- 4:44I mean, it's, it's crazy how they just all interact so well
- 4:49based on the fact that I have faith in the, in the fact that
- 4:53the universe is going to blend them together and that they are
- 4:55going to be great. And I truly believe that.
- 4:58And therefore they are. Mother Nature has taught me so
- 5:03much about having a spiritual practice and trusting because
- 5:06there are times when I don't, because I get aggravated because
- 5:09it's not going the way I want it to go.
- 5:11And it's frustrating. This year was one of those big
- 5:15ones with the garden. But guess what?
- 5:16I keep working on it and I keep trusting and I keep saying, you
- 5:20know what, there's more to learn, there's more to learn,
- 5:22there's more to learn. And as long as there's more to
- 5:24learn, then you feel good about it.
- 5:26So developing that spiritual practice, huge big thing.
- 5:31So look at it, see where you are with it and ask yourself, what
- 5:34is that spiritual practice and how can I make myself feel
- 5:37better? All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:39you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:42Bye.
