The Flannan Isles Lighthouse Mystery — The Keepers Who Vanished
In December 1900, three lighthouse keepers — James Ducat, Thomas Marshall, and Donald McArthur — disappeared from the remote Flannan Isles off the coast of Scotland. Concern began when a passing ship noticed that the lighthouse was dark. When the relief vessel finally reached the island, no one came to greet the crew.
Inside the lighthouse, signs suggested the men had left suddenly. One chair was overturned, the clock had stopped, and one waterproof jacket remained behind. A full search of the island found no bodies, footprints, or clear evidence of what had happened.
